~Here’s a list of good and shitty things Snape did canonically:

Bad:

•Snape was a blood supremacist who called lily a slur.

•invented a curse for enemies (marauders)

I don’t think a good person would make up a curse which mutilates someone terribly. That too, during his time in Hogwarts.

•oh yeah later on he became a death eater 😋 (the main goal of the death eaters wasto eliminate all muggle-borns in the wizarding world and establish voldemort as its ruler)(magical nazis basically).

Plus when voldy was going to kill lily, Snape was like yk what you can kill the husband and the INFANT just don’t hurt my lily flower teehee like okay james bullied him so him not caring about james made sense but harry was a child bro

•BULLIED CHILDREN DURING HIS TIME AS A PROFESSOR????? he was literally neville’s bogart ffs and not because “some teachers are just scary okay Neville was afraid of almost everything!!!” but because Snape bullied neville on a daily basis plus threatened to kill his pet after a failed potion thingy. plus he made fun hermione’s physical appearance (when draco made her teeth all big and Snape was like hah it’s the same there’s no difference) and he bullied for BEING GOOD AT ACADEMICS LIKE 😭😭😭???? He bullied almost everyone in Hogwarts I just know it.

•sectumsempra’d George’s year off.

•tried to out Remus Lupin as a werewolf for NO reason other than his childish misdemeanour.

Good:

•called Sirius and Remus an old married couple.

•saves Katie bell from a cursed necklace

•saves draco malfoy from a terrible curse that could’ve killed him by the counter charm “vulnera saneteur”

can someone guess which curse Snape saved draco from??? You’re right! It was sectumsempra!

•switched sides or smth

~Here’s a list of good and shitty things james did canonically:

Bad:

•called Snape snivellus (was funny ngl)

•bully snape

Good:

•turned into an illegal animagus at the age of 15 so his werewolf friend (Remus) has company during his transformations.

•took sirius black in after he ran away from an abusive hoursehold.

•SAVED FUCKING SNAPE FROM REMUS IN HIS WEREWOLF FORM AFTER SIRIUS SENT HIM THERE.

JAMES SAVED SNAPE.

•literally died trying to stall Voldemort so Lily and Harry have some time to escape or just live in general.

So my point is canon james was a bit of an asshole but he still did way more good deeds than Snape even though Snape was in all the seven books like one of the good things he did was literally the consequences of his own actions (healing draco).

All of this is canon btw. NONE of it is fanon.

regulily dating and they slowly start hanging out with james all the time and he becomes a "third wheel", although it doesn't really feel like he's a third wheel with them. and none of them really realise it but they start inviting james on date nights, holidays, library trips, as their plus one at events, etc. and after a few years, it gets to the point none of them really know and at this they're not going to ask. like james is 90% sure he's somehow become part of their relationship (especially after they go to the theatre and lily holds his hand as well as regulus') regulus knows he's bad at understanding social situations so he's 90% sure he just didn't realise exactly when james joined the relationship but he's haopy about it. lily is 90% sure they've been in a throuple for years, but they just never really talked about it and now it's a bit late to so that.

until they're hanging out with their friends and the topic of children come up- in which james says he's always wanted kids and marlene asks if he's planning on it soon. to all of them. and dorcas frowns and comments that james isn't dating anyone. and now they've got dorcas and marlene arguing because marlene thought they were in a throuple ever since regulus and lily started to date. and james, lily, and regulus all have absolutely no clue what to say. because are they dating?? they have no clue.

james potter was not always the man that people would want to tell fond stories of. there were years where he was a boy. He was not yet an auror, a hero, a legend, just a boy. He was spoiled and would look down on others who he did not understand. He was cruel in the name of humor, and his pranks could be considered bullying and hateful. He was obnoxious and half of his classmates bordered on punching him in the face if he didn't shut up soon. He didn't understand why Lily did not fancy him, let me be clear he did not harass her, but he would try to make himself seem cooler and end up more of an ass. He would try and gain her affection in the wrong ways. He was loud and mean and stupid and a dumb boy.

but he grew. he may not have lived a long enough life to be a true adult but he grew. He realized that what he was doing was not funny but mean and he would apologize. He would be more respectful in class and understand he and his friends were not the only people who matter in the room. James would listen and learn from those who were not the same as him. the stories of the asshole from school grew into of james who would tell stories to the first years. to james whose pranks were funny and no longer cruel, well a little cruel when the war found itself in hogwarts halls and potter was fighting the only way any of them knew how. to james was passionate and wanted others to succeed. to james the go to if you needed help with transfiguration. to james no longer the bully but the one who would stand up for others. To james who would make mistakes and would apologise, or he wouldn't because he was human. He was not perfect but he was funny and kind and he would be missed.

since people are asking for them, here are my unpopular marauders opinions

(note, and i mean this in the most serious way: please, for the love of god, if you don't agree, just scroll. there is no reason to cause drama over some unpopular opinions of some random tumblr user just because you don't agree with me.)

remus is my least favorite character. don't get me wrong, i love him to bits, he's just the least intriguing to me. he's the character we've been given most of; not only that, i find sirius and james' character, as well as peter's (and his betrayal), as far more interesting

i don't really like jegulus for the same reason as remus; the dynamic is interesting, there is a lot to work with there, including the death eater and order member dynamic, but i just find some ships as more interesting

most of the characters are written as super one-dimensional and therefore i do not like most fandom characterizations which is a crucial point, to me, in whether i read the fic. i like fics in which the characters are written as real people, with human emotions and flaws, and not some qualities thrown together

some wolfstar shippers are pretty much the most annoying people in fandom (coming from a wolfstar shipper). shipping the only consistent ship in this fandom does not make you inherently better than everyone else, and just because someone else splits wolfstar for other ships dynamics does not mean anything

the black sisters and the evans sisters, if written well, can be more interesting than the black brothers and i don't think we talk enough about them (i also find the black brothers are really interesting, and i need more fics in which the intensity of these dynamics are explored)

i dislike the main characterization of regulus in fandom, being a huge fan of morally grey regulus. however, each with their own characterization, and i'm no one to judge next. i find him to be a very interesting character, however, and i like fics that dive deeper into his character

people who ship jegulus and hate lily for no reason need to chill; furthermore, people who hate mary and lily for "getting in the way" of their mlm ships are... i'm not going to comment on this, but you probably know what i mean

"stan bambi" comments on snape videos are really annoying because the very same way we don't like (and sometimes get aggressive) over snape lovers attacking the characters we like, why are we doing that to other people?

i need more peter-centered fics, and i do not like him only being a sidekick or ignored. also, mary is also a very interesting character, and i don't think we credit her enough for it

dorlene > wolfstar

the girls are far more interesting than people make them out to be and i NEED an atyd-like fic (long canon compliant etc) from their povs. it's not a want, it's a need, and i might just write it myself, because i think that a fic like that has a lot of potential

dorcas is morally grey and i need more fics in which that is a thing

this might be my most unpopular opinion but i prefer lily to regulus; i find them both to be very interesting characters, but i find myself more drawn to lily

pretty privilege is REAL in this fandom. bet that if peter and snape were conventionally attractive, they would be as loved as evan, barty, and regulus

i do not see sirius as transfem but why do people have to be so pressed about this hc. lif you don't see it, shut up, move on with your day, and let people who see it do their thing; this fandom is TOO pressed about other people's hcs

i kind of dislike fanon james because they strip him of all humanity and emotions, and make him a ray of walking sunshine with no issues (hence my essay on it, which you can read here)

james would choose sirius over regulus any day

In PoA:

•Remus said he was going to talk to the train driver (after the demetor), but what if he went to have a little cry in the bathroom because he spoke to Harry about sirius?

•Did Remus sit in that compartment because it was the one the Marauders sat in when they were at hogwarts??

•what if when remus woke up, he thought Harry was James??

•Remus mentioned he recognised Harry by his eyes. They're Lily's eyes. He woke up and had to have been hit with all the memories and pain just by seeing Harry's face.

•What if the chocolate Remus gave Harry was Sirius' favourite kind? We all know Remus carried around chocolate all the time. What if when the marauders were students, Sirius kept stealing it but complaining about the brand. Remus then bought alwaysirius' favourite brand and couldn't stop buying it even after that Halloween

•When Harry was a baby, Remus had to be Uncle Moony, now he's just Professor Lupin!

•What if Remus suspected that Ron's rat was actually Wormtail but he didn't want to believe it because he was convinced that Peter died??
