#wonderland of overthinking
Text
Guys, sorry for being inactive, BUT
I was lazy
I was lazy for a month
Mentally I just was I don’t know where
Maybe in the wonderland of overthinking 🥲
And now I am about 20% of school year behind (I’m homeschooled)
So I have to do twice as much as I would normally do
So I’m just working a lot a lot
And I must admit that I won’t be really active unless I finish all that
Then I’ll comeback
I’m just deleting all the socials from my phone to not get triggered or distracted
SO,
SEE YOU IN FEW WEEKS, HOPEFULLY
I know you love me

Gossip Girl (Lila) (I’m addicted to the show, I always wanted to write I know you love me xoxo)

C'MON TO THE THEATER!
I love these guys so much. forget NRC, I want to attend their terrible disaster school for disaster children that might actually be plastered on top of the smoking remains of an actively sinking ship. I may or may not actually learn anything, but I will have the time of my life.

something i noticed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A while back, I wrote this analysis reviewing how unfair the magic education system is in Twisted Wonderland. I would recommend reading that before this post, as it provides tons of context for what I’m about to talk about and add onto the discussion.
In 2-6 of the Tapis Rouge event, Vil has stylists from Luxe, a high end fashion brand, dress up Azul, Jamil, and Ace to be a part of his red carpet entourage. Once the boys come out in their new threads and makeup, Jamil and Azul, two individuals who are meticulous about details, provide some telling commentary.
According to those two, the team of stylists that helped them were mages. Azul further remarks that they were quite skilled mages and that having this kind of talent indicates a “first class brand store”. Their hair and makeup is also suggested to be done via magic, though this service is not normally performed for customers. Previously, we knew that skincare can be infused with magic (Vil does so with his own) and that magic can be used to style one’s hair (Jamil tells us in his Birthday Boy vignettes that he does his intricate hair with magic and used to take far longer with it when he lacked the precision). Idia states in book 6 that Jamil had no formal magic training before NRC, so that means Jamil was self-taught in his hair-handling magic.
… Okay but 😭 WHAT DOES THIS IMPLY ABOUT MAGIC AND CLASS??? Is it just a coincidence that the teams of stylists who staff a high class store are ALL mages? Surely not, given how uncommon mages are in the general population. The store (or maybe the brand itself?) must be going out of its way to hire them because I guess being dressed with magic is a more “luxurious” experience than the normal way. We can also guess from Azul and Jamil’s accounts that the degree of magic these staffers use requires significant skill and precision, which either means they need formal instruction or lots of practice on their own. Neither option is afforded to people with naturally low or no magic reserves at all 💀 meaning jobs like this are gated to mages only.
Now, this doesn’t inherently mean the rich and famous people who frequent these stores are also all mages (Kalim’s dad and Vil’s dad are two non-mages who are extremely wealthy and influential); the majority of them must still be regular people since humans seem to be the majority, and 90% of humans are non-mages. It also doesn’t guarantee that the Luxe stylists are paid more than a non-Luxe stylist (although I do think this is possible for a prestige brand, especially if we factor in commissions on sales).
What’s sticking out to me here is that there exists an association between magic and luxury. The reverse also appears to have some truth based on what little other lore we have; Ruggie states that there are not a lot of mages from his hometown, which could imply a history of non-mages being driven into poorer communities. It all fits together a little too well to seem coincidental… but obviously, Ruggie’s hometown is just one place and could be an outlier rather than the exemplar. We know that most non-mages must live an average lifestyle, not the extremes that Ruggie has experienced. Still, the claim that magic is typically associated with the upper class holds and it continues to be perpetuated in the lore.
Anyway, Fellow and Rollo were right—

Thinking about Malleus and him just giving up.
He couldn’t do anything.
He couldn’t make anyone happy.
He’s useless.
His gift unworthy.
Silver didn’t want it.
Sebek went against it.
Lilia rejected it.
You, his first friend, denied him.
What has his life brought but pain to his loved ones.
He really should have died as an egg.
None of this would have ever happened.
A useless prince.
Maybe, it would be better to just disappear.
And then Malleus turns his weapon against himself.
And uses his blessing on himself.
Well, he couldn’t be happy in reality.
Maybe in the dream world, he’ll finally get his happily ever after.
Finally, he can rest.
He won’t be lonely anymore.
(He doesn’t hear the others screaming his name, desperately trying to reach him.)

So, recently I’ve found that plots I like in Silver and Lilia fanfiction are Silver being kidnapped and Lilia having to go save him, or Silver running away to protect his father and Lilia having to find him. The reason for this is that in both scenarios Lilia is forced to confront how much Silver means to him and how important the human is to him. Whether Silver is taken or leaves, there is suddenly an empty space in Lilia’s life, one he got used to having filled. It’s like Mizrabel said in the remake of The Castle of Illusion; “Poor [Lilia]. Never realize what you have till it’s gone.” Then, having Lilia work to get Silver back, whether to save him or make amends, makes the end more worthwhile because Lila is forced to confront parts of him he never had before. Not to mention, with the kidnapping one we get to see protective Lilia along with hell hath no fury. And with the other, we get a comfort fic as Lilia brushes away whatever worries the boy may have and assures him Lilia does love him.

Idk how unpopular this opinion might be, but am I the only one who thinks both Leona and Jamil's plans on their respective books were stupid and pointless??
Like Leona refuses Malleus' retirement from Magical Shift, but then tries to incapacitate him and his team? So why didn't he just let him retire in the first place?? What was the point in refusing then?
And then Jamil tries to get Kalim expelled? Honestly, did he really think that Kalim's parents wouldn't force him to leave as well so he could keep up his work as his servant? What makes him think they'll allow him to stay if Kalim gets sent back? In general I disagree with Jamil's angle for his plan, but this part in particular just doesn't make sense to me
In conclusion, I'm not outright saying this is bad writing (it could be, idk), but my in-universe explanation is that, since overblots happen due to a poor mental health state, this translated for Leona and Jamil, characters who are depicted as smart and with great critical-thinking abilities, into poor decision-making and an incapacity to look at the bigger picture. These two characters who have unhealthy coping mechanisms to avoid their problems and emotions suddenly get too emotional and are unable to think straight

okay, i recently made a post about why i'm okay with the knight of dawn's design, and just now i made an addition to it that got me thinking about how like... people say that lilia may just think of the knight of dawn looking identical to silver in his dream because it's been hundreds of years so he can't actually remember his exact appearance, but the knight of dawn was a famous and respected knight who dueled against briar valley's queen and married into royalty, so is he not an important historical figure? are there not pictures and/or paintings of him that lilia may have seen, especially considering that one of NRC's own history books apparently has a picture of lilia himself in it (malleus mentions this in one of his lesson lines)?
but then i remembered this dialogue from book 7 and now i'm losing my mind thinking about what all of this is supposed to mean. like, okay, i guess some of this could have something to do with the desire to hide silver's parentage from him as well as just reluctance to talk about the tragedies that occurred in lilia and baul's pasts, but can that really be the entire reason behind this? behind silver and sebek, who are from briar valley, knowing so little about its history and its royal family, and there seemingly being so few books about it, and NRC just not teaching about/having any information about the history of such an important place? and also, if it's the case that so little is known or taught about briar valley, then how or why is there a picture of lilia in one of the history books they use in class? lilia himself was also the one to point out in the story that history often gets told differently across different cultures and can easily become twisted from the truth, and now i have to wonder if briar valley's history is being deliberately twisted or obscured. and also if crowley has something to do with that considering all of the theories surrounding him being malleus's mysterious missing father.

Lilia Vanrouge Rambling
Scaring others and masking his true self Book 7 Spoilers!
I just got enlightened after messing with Lilia's Character AI and OH MY GOD, just some rambling, don't mind much
What if Lilia scares people only to get a reaction out of them? Like, only for the reaction, and not for the entertainment, but he does find amusement in that too. (He tells everyone that he did it purely for fun, so they won't see him as some creep)
He observes and collects every one of the reactions, and then tries them on himself to 'fit in' with the current times. To fit in with the kids these days, to understand them better (Silver, Sebek, Malleus).
People who are scared and taken off guard show their true self, acting on their natural habits, so can Lilia possibly study others moments 'off guard' to hide his own habits?
I like to think that Lilia started scaring people when he went to NRC, as in the cottage he lived in he didn't had many people to scare, and could act freely, not necessarily correcting his habits.
Also considering his past and his position, he also wouldn't have to worry about fitting in, as the others would try to change themselves according to his liking.
Correcting and changing habits, something like a coping mechanism, just like his cute self, being his response to the traumatic experiences from his past.
It's like he conceals his true self, his true thoughts and habits just to not scare the others and make himself seem more likeable and approachable. As he knows his boys aren't the most social ones, he does go out of his comfort zone for their sake, to not be too closed off of the happenings in school.
Making connections for them to communicate through and many more, Lilia does a huge work behind the shadows. Since he works from the shadows in a school full of humans, he does walk on eggshells sometimes, even if only intuitively, feeling like a spy.
And since he's feeling like a spy, he does change himself according to the mission, to ensure its winning end. And that's why, the reaction and habits of his surroundings are so important to him.
It was supposed to be way shorter with not much angst, but idk how it turned out. I feel like I heavily drifted from the main topic but it is what it is
It's almost 3 AM when I write and publish it and WHY CAN'T I HAVE A NORMAL NIGHT SLEEP? I just had to overthink it. I hope it's not too angsty and dramatic, my brain does not function now💤

Not a question but let me tell you:
It doesn't matter if someone mixed Jafar and Jamil already, you can still do it yourself as well! After all, the idea might be on the internet already but it hasn't been done by *you* :)
I fully support it
(In reference to my tags on this post)
Well, since I’ve been enabled, enjoy y’all (I'm so sorry):
Jafar-style:
Tumblr media
Which - not the worst? I mean would look better if I actually knew what I was doing but.
I found this art of Jafar by MarioOscarGabriele on DeviantArt which very conveniently helped me line up Jafar’s facial hair with Jamil’s face.
And of course I also had to attempt a big bushy beard, and well, the sultan is right there:
Tumblr media
...yeah that definitely just looks like a costume beard
I ran out of patience when trying to freehand things but this pencil mustache actually doesn't look as bad as I thought?
Tumblr media
Alas, I couldn't find any sort of a braided dwarf beard that I could've slapped on his face, otherwise I totally would've gone for that, too.

I still don't entirely understand how Jamil is the oldest of the 2nd years while having a late birthday (September) that should make him, logistically going by year, a few months younger than Kalim.
For him to be older, he'd have to be 18 at the start of the game because the game starts in September at the school year. But his profile is listed as him being 17.
What does this mean for the other September bday? Is time just backwards in TWST and the year (not school year) DOESN'T begin in January
People kept getting on me on age consistency when it doesn't make sense. I am begging you to make it make sense.
I am a September birthday (same bday as Ace) and I'm younger than my peers.
hOW IS JAMIL STILL 17 BUT ALSO OLDER THAN EVERYONE WHEN SEPTEMBER IS A LATE MONTH. Please give me a logical answer I'm desperate, this has been bothering me

I was revisiting Ghost Marriage to gather information for a resource post, and GUESS WHAT I REDISCOVERED????????? Look at Sam’s dialogue when he’s explaining the Consolation Bouquets and how they work:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flowers that “draw sustenance from negative emotions” by “[absorbing] sorrows [and] grudges”, you say?????? It sounds kinda like Rollo’s Unique Magic, Darkfire 💀 which enhances the power of his flames by feeding on the negative feelings (“fear, panic, turmoil”) around him… Granted, the specific feelings cited between Rollo’s spell and the bouquets are not the exact same, but there is some degree of overlap.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From the wording, it seems like the main difference between Darkfire and the Consolation Bouquets is that the flowers actually get rid of or lessen the negative emotions. In the JP version of Sam’s lines, he says that the flowers will “suck up” what gives the ghosts their power, which would include things like sadness and hatred. (This is similar to how the Fire Lotuses/Crimson Flowers drain mages of magic, thereby depriving the mages of it and weakening them.) Rollo’s magic seems to leave the negative emotions as-is so he can continue to benefit from its presence rather than “absorbing” it and leaving no negativity behind.
So let’s say there’s a situation where Rollo has unleashed his UM and all you have to combat him is a Consolation Bouquet. Both Rollo’s magic and the blooms in the magical bouquet would draw their strength from whatever negative energy is present. The angrier and more hateful Rollo becomes, the stronger the bouquets’ draining would hypothetically become too. Who would win then???? If the Consolation Bouquets actually do away with negative emotions, then wouldn’t that mean Rollo’s fire could be beaten into submission with… a (very flammable) bouquet 😭
Foiled by flowers 😔 … Would you say this is a case of fighting flowers with flowers instead of fighting fire with fire???? Maybe so!

Okay here me out because my brain is like being absolutely fucking insane or being a genius. But imagine the aftermath of the Headmistress Rosehearts au, the next assigned temporary/permanent headmaster/headmistress is a part previous preschool teacher. Like think about it. Think about it.
He looks so normal, he got that warm innocent vibe of a dad, and actually does his job well. People start thinking “okay what if this a trap?” And stalk him. Only to find out he is just absolutely normal. Normally family, average but good relationship with the parents during PTA meetings, and genuinely making good choices. Like he looks like the normal black hair with matching eyes tall man with the vibes of a supportive dad, and he screams of “I’m the most normal here”
Ghosts love him, staff do, the students want him around. And he help tutor students because he also studied kids psychology. HE IS THEIR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR AND SCHOOL THERAPIST
Tumblr media
Listen. He have a family. He got adorable daughter and son. And the daughter help make him presentable. Which was slapping many doodles and stickers and hairclips. Yes he wore ‘em and yes he kept them on. His daughter did that. He won’t drop it.
I say he’s a college grad so around early twenties. Like Sam or two or three years older. But he’s nice
Hang on I got an idea. Man was looking for another job for more pay. And saw an opening for headmaster. He took it. But here’s the thing. HE DIDNT FUCKING RESEARCH IT, HE THOUGHT HE WAS A HEADMASTER TO A PRESCHOOL BUT ITS NRC. He is small magical. Do little magic. But he’s okay. So now he schools a giant school and is so confused for like a few minutes. Then realize he sign up for a high school.
