You know what I love…
When people’s superpowers get worse when they’re scared.
Like sympathetic nervous system is a-going, heart is racing, and your whole body thinks you’re in danger. So it tries to kick in your powers to protect itself. I’m taking:
People with electric powers shocking themselves when touching a door knob.
Water powers unconsciously forming a water bubble and spilling it on themselves.
Fire powers smelling smoke suddenly, only to look down at their hands and realize their hands are heating up and burning the sweat off their hands.
Super genius’ drawing a blank and stuttering when someone asks them a question.
People with super speed bouncing their leg up and down or fiddling with their fingers so fast, it looks like one massive blob
(And of course the famous example) Miles, and his spider powers, sticking to everything.
Superhumans and their powers need to be one. I think often we forget about the ‘human’ part. Superpowers being inconvenient is comedic, cool to see, and shows that their powers aren’t just a cool feature they can just turn on and off. It’s a part of them. Just… people’s powers messing up when they’re scared. Give it a thought

Hero continues to rock the wailing infant, trying to shush her. It's been hours, and still they haven't been able to get her to calm down. Nothing has worked, not a bottle, a diaper change, nothing.
Hero places their hand against her small forehead, checking for a fever, maybe. They feel so beyond their depth right now. Hero's barely slept the past day, and they're dead on their feet, eyes barely staying open.
"I wish you could just tell me what's wrong. This is so frustrating." Hero whines, still bouncing the crying infant.
"It's unfortunate, most babies can't talk." The familiar voice comes from behind, and Hero whirls around defensively to see Villain standing in the doorway of the nursery.
"What are you doing here?" Hero demands, clutching their child closer.
"You haven't come to fight me in months. I've sent out clear messages-"
"You mean constantly blowing up buildings and taking people hostage?" Hero interrupts, still holding their baby close to their chest.
"-but you never came. I was starting to think you died," Villain finishes eloquently. "I can see now that you've been a bit busy." They take a step closer, and Hero takes another step back, trying to keep distance.
This was bad. Hero very much intended that no one would know about their child, enemies especially. They could feel anxiety rising in their chest, clawing at their throat.
Villain eyes their movement before speaking again. "Shame, I would have sent a gift if I'd known. Who's the other parent?" Their eyes shoot back up to Hero's as they ask.
"No one. She's mine, her other parent is irrelevant." Hero says defensively. The baby continues to cry, face red.
Villain looks over the both of them, humming as they consider this. "So you're doing this alone. How long have you been up for?"
The question seems harmless, and yet Hero hesitates, still not trusting Villain. The way they ask though, seems simply curious.
"...A few hours now. I can't get her to sleep." Hero finally says quietly.
Villain steps closer again, this time slowly, as if to not worry Hero. "I can tell," They snort, but the words are soft, "You look completely exhausted."
"Jeez thanks-"
"May I try?" Villain asks, voice gentle. Hero looks at them like they've grown three heads. The very idea that Hero would hand their child over to Villain is so beyond ridiculous, that they can't believe they asked.
Vilain sees their expression and rolls their eyes. "I'm not going to do anything to harm her. I know you'd kick my ass if I even tried. I'm good with kids, and you look like you're going to fall over any minute."
They step even closer and lift a finger to the small baby, which she grabs with her chubby little hand. Villain chuckles at the sight.
Hero watches, eyes fighting to stay open. Villain is right, they do feel like they're on the verge of collapse any moment. Arms are heavy from continuously rocking the baby, legs feel like jello.
"Okay, you can hold her for a moment. But I swear to everything that if you do anything to harm her, your body will end scattered in tiny pieces across the country." Hero warns, their voice more deadly than it's ever been with Villain.
Villain simply smiles as they reach out for the baby. "I wouldn't expect anything less." They take her in their arms, holding her comfortably. Hero immediately collapses down into the nearby rocking chair.
They rock her in their arms like it's the most natural thing in the world. Hero watches on in surprise as she starts to calm down somewhat, though she's still fussy. The lack of wailing level crying is a godsend though.
"How in the world.." Hero asks, amazed at the sight.
Villain grabs a pacifier off the near by changing table, giving it to the infant. She accepts it easily and finally settles down.
"I told you I'm really good with kids. Plus babies just like me," They say as they look down at the infant in their arms with the most genuine smile Hero has ever seen, "Also have you considered that she might be teething?"
Hero raises an eyebrow before yawning suddenly. "Ah..no I haven't. I'm new to this, and I feel like I'm learning as I go along..."
"It probably doesn't help that you don't have any help either. Why don't you rest for a bit while I hold her?" Villain suggests, noticing how on the verge of falling asleep they are. "I promise I'll stay right here, and she'll be okay. You should get some sleep."
"I'm not so sure about that..." Hero replies, though their head is already starting to sag. "How'd you get so good with kids anyways?" They ask, their eyes beginning to flutter.
Villain chuckles quietly. "You don't get to unlock my tragic back story that easily." But Hero is already asleep, passed out over in the chair. Villain continues to hold the baby as they drap a small blanket over Hero.

A Perfect Match
Tumblr media
summary: Chisaki isn't looking forward to meeting his soulmate, at least not until he discovers that you are Quirkless.
tags: soulmate!au, fluff, fem!reader
Tumblr media
It’s just so annoying. Even though he’s lived with it all his life, Chisaki swears he’ll never get used to seeing that godforsaken timer counting down. It’s always there, in the corner of his periphery, and it only ever disappears when he shuts his eyes and lets everything fade to black.
A soulmate mark. That’s what it’s called. People have different variations of it—some know the first words their soulmate will ever speak to them, some have a red string tying them to their soulmate that only they can see, and others, like him, have been stuck with a timer since birth that tells him how much longer until he meets his soulmate for the first time.
And based on how much time is remaining, it looks like he’ll be meeting his soulmate today.
Chisaki isn’t excited. If anything, he’s dreading the encounter, and he just wishes it would hurry up and be over with. At least then, the timer will disappear, and it’ll be one less thing grating at his nerves. He doesn’t believe in the phenomenon of soulmates, he has no desire for trifling matters such as love, and for a man who loathes being touched, he can’t imagine it would work out anyhow.
Much of the day goes as planned. He helps Pops with some paperwork, cleans up the office to keep all those pesky germs away, and Chisaki briefly wonders how he’ll even meet you, since he intends on staying home all day.
“Chisaki,” Pops suddenly says. “Would you mind going out into town and buying me a few things? I wrote a list of what I need.”
Ah. So, that’s how.
“Of course,” Chisaki nods, and he puts on his jacket before slipping his shoes on by the door. “I’ll be back soon. It won’t take long.”
Seriously, it really won’t. Regardless of the fact that he’s going to run into you, he has no intention of staying and chatting. He’s going to reject you right on the spot. Soulmates aren’t real, anyways. What a stupid notion, to think that someone’s greatest love can be predetermined.
Chisaki adjusts his mask more tightly, then steps outside. He reaches the store quickly enough, and although he hates having to touch things that countless strangers have laid hands on, his gloves provide him with a thin layer of protection from all the filth.
He tracks down everything he needs at a steady pace, and as he reaches for the very last item on his list, someone else reaches for it at the exact same time.
Immediately, Chisaki recoils, and he manages to avoid touching a stranger’s hand. But right as he’s biting back the urge to grimace, he realizes that the timer—the same timer he’s had all his life—his finally disappeared.
Ah.
So, it’s you. Chisaki turns his head to the side and finds himself looking at a young woman, who is staring back at him wide-eyed and breathless. He has a pretty good idea of what’s going on in your head. You must have realized it, too.
After more than two decades, he’s finally met his soulmate.
You’re pretty. Chisaki can at least admit that much. You have nice features, you dress in a way that suggest you care about your appearance, and you have a pleasant, clean scent, which means that you take personal hygiene seriously—thank god.
But all that being said, Chisaki still has no desire to strike up a relationship with you. He doesn’t enjoy being around people. He can’t even bear to touch people, not counting Pops, who is his family. Not to mention that he’s part of the yakuza, and from what he gleams, you seem to be an average citizen.
There’s just no reality in which this would ever work out.
“U-Um,” you stammer, visibly nervous. “Are you...? I mean, um... it’s you, right? You must be my... soulmate.”
It’s a bit endearing how flustered you are, and for a moment, Chisaki feels slightly guilty about what he’s going to do.
Still. It’s better to tell you the truth now rather than let you get your hopes up.
“The timer,” Chisaki nods. “I have it too. Well, I did have it. Up until a few seconds ago, at least.”
A smile blooms across your lips, and it tugs at his heartstrings a bit, because goodness, you really are adorable.
“I knew it!” you beam. “Oh my god, I can’t believe this is really happening! I’m so excited! But I guess that was pretty obvious, haha. Sorry. I’m going to try to calm down now, but it’s just—this is just so—”
Chisaki raises a hand. “Before you say anything else, I need to let you know that I have no interest in pursuing a relationship with you.”
It only takes a second for your expression to sink.
“...what?” you mumble softly. “But... we’re soulmates. I thought that means we’re supposed to be together for the rest of our lives. I didn’t mean that we should start dating right away, but at the very least, if we could start by getting to know each other...”
“I’m sorry,” Chisaki says. “I don’t have much interest in romance. I prefer to keep to myself, and frankly, I’m not even sure I believe in soulmates. It all seems far too convenient. It was nice meeting you, but we’ll have to leave it here.”
By the looks of things, you’re on the verge of tears. Chisaki isn’t a very emotional person, but he can’t fault you for getting your hopes up. This must have been something you’d been looking forward to for many, many years. If only your soulmate was someone else. It’s a pity. You seem like a very nice woman, and he hopes that you’ll find happiness one way or another. Just not with him.
You swallow hard, just barely managing to hold back your tears. “I... understand. I’m sorry. I came into this with all these expectations, but I never stopped to think that the other person might not have been as excited as I was. I guess I was just really hopeful. I’m Quirkless, so... people have always thought less of me. I figured my soulmate would like me no matter what, but we’re pretty much strangers, so I don’t know what I was thinking. Anyways, I’m sorry again for bothering you. I’d ask your name, but it would probably just make the whole thing more painful.”
You turn to leave, but in that moment, Chisaki’s eyes have gone completely wide.
What did she just say?
“Wait!” he cries out, and you reel to a halt, surprised by the outburst.
Now it’s Chisaki’s turn to swallow. The roof of his mouth feels dry and uncomfortable, and he worries that perhaps his ears deceived him.
“You’re Quirkless,” he breathes. “Is that... really true?”
“I’m not sure who would lie about something like that,” you chuckle weakly. “It’s not exactly something to be proud of.”
Wrong. You don’t even know just how wrong you are.
In a world teeming with filth and sickness, those who haven’t been contaminated by the Quirk pandemic are a rarity. People like you are unblemished and pure, and...
Shit. Chisaki is starting to believe that soulmates might be the real deal, after all.
“It’s okay not to have a Quirk,” he says, and it’s insane how fast his heart is beating now. “No. It’s better not to have a Quirk. I much prefer it that way.”
You press your lips together. “Are you making fun of me right now? Listen, I said I was sorry for bothering you—”
“I’m not making fun of you. I’m being completely serious. Quirks... I’ve never liked them. Just the thought of them makes me sick.” He pauses, inhales sharply to collect himself, then lets out a heavy sigh. “The reason I turned you away is because I thought it would be impossible for us to have a relationship. I break out into hives the moment anyone touches me. I distance myself from people, and the thought of being intimate with someone has always repulsed me. And Quirks are largely to blame for that, because Quirks are a mutation. A disease. That’s why I didn’t think we had a chance. But now that you say you’re Quirkless... I’m starting to think differently.”
You arch a brow, and it’s clear that you don’t understand where he’s coming from. Fuck. He hopes he isn’t scaring you off. He’s finally, finally found someone who he has an actual chance of being with, and he doesn’t want to ruin this.
“If you don’t mind... would it be alright if I held your hand?” Chisaki asks breathlessly.
Once again, you stare back at him in confusion, but it thankfully doesn’t look like you’re opposed to it. You reach out a hand, slow and hesitant, and at the same time, Chisaki peels off on his gloves, letting his skin breathe free.
When your fingers meet his own, he lets out a soft gasp. Not out of disgust, not out of apprehension, but out of sheer relief.
No hives. No uncomfortable tightness in his chest.
You aren’t sick like the rest, which means he can touch you to his heart’s content.
Chisaki would have liked to hold your hand for much, much longer, but out of fear of scaring you off, he reluctantly lets go and gives you some space.
“I just wanted to confirm something,” he mumbles. “If it’s you... I’m able to touch you just fine. I don’t get sick. It looks like we’re soulmates for a reason.”
The look in your eyes is far from judgmental, and when you finally muster up your next words, Chisaki can hear a little hiccup catch in your throat.
“So... you really don’t mind that I’m Quirkless?” you ask.
“Not at all. It’s just the opposite. I feel comfortable around you precisely because you’re Quirkless. That must be why we were fated to meet. Because we’re a perfect match.”
Chisaki has never flirted a day in his damn life, but something he said must have tickled your fancy, because you blush and shyly avert your gaze.
“I was really worried there for a moment,” you mumble. “It sounded like you wanted nothing to do with me.”
“I’m sorry,” Chisaki frowns. “I was too quick to judge. I’m very particular about certain things, and I thought there was no chance. But I was mistaken. And if you’re still open to it... I would love the opportunity to get to know you better. Starting with your name. Would you mind telling me your name?”
“I’m [Name],” you reply, and you flash him another bright, genuine smile. God, he swears he’s already fallen in love with that smile.
“It suits you. I’m Chisaki. Chisaki Kai.” He takes a moment to think it through, and then, he does something he’s never done before in public.
He removes his mask so that you can see his entire face.
Your eyes widen. “Oh, wow. Chisaki, you’re so handsome! I didn’t realize my soulmate would be so gorgeous. Now I can’t help but feel self-conscious by comparison...”
“I appreciate the compliment,” he chuckles. “But you’re beautiful. I thought so even before I found out you were Quirkless.”
He watches, with great delight, as you blush yet again. You’re just so adorable. He never thought he would be thanking his lucky stars for having a soulmate mark, let alone one that caused him endless frustration for more than twenty years, but here he is.
“I was going to head straight home after running some errands for my old man, but how about we sit outside somewhere and chat for a while?” he asks hopefully.
Your smile returns, this time, wider than ever.
“Sure!”
Tumblr media
As it turns out, Chisaki doesn’t get back home until much, much later, and he finds Pops waiting for him with his arms crossed.
“Chisaki,” Pops frowns. “What was the hold-up? You’re usually so efficient when it comes to these things. I was expecting you back hours ago.”
Normally, Chisaki would have apologized at great length for inconveniencing Pops. He is, after all, the man that brought him and raised him as his own. He loves and cherishes him, and will do anything in his power to repay him.
But right now, Chisaki is up in cloud nine.
“I met my soulmate,” he says, setting the shopping bags down. “Sorry, Pops. We got to talking for a while.”
“Oh?” Pops lifts a brow, and tries—but fails—to hide his smirk. “But I thought you said you wanted nothing to do with them. You told me you didn’t believe in such things.”
“Well, I changed my mind.”
“I’ve never known you to be the type to do that. You’re stubborn to a fault. But I’m not complaining. It sounds like you’ve turned over a new leaf. So, then, tell me about this soulmate of yours.”
For the second time that same day, Chisaki removes his mask—and it’s so that Pops can see his ear-splitting grin.
“She’s perfect.”

In Your Lap
Sharp nails kindly grazed Hero's thigh as they held as still as possible in Villain's lap. The way the ropes bounded their wrists behind their back made it unbearably uncomfortable, but the unexpected warmth of Villain forced Hero into accepting the solace.
Maybe if they had listened in more attentively, they could hear the sounds coming from outside the car and feel the turns as they gradually rode up to wherever Villain had planned to take them afterwards. From behind the blindfold, Hero's eyes had turned soft and heavy at the easy rhythm of the road, yet they fought to keep themselves from falling into Villain's trap so quickly.
If they hadn't let Villain take advantage of them during their fight, they wouldn't have been here in the first place. The worst that could happen had already passed, so it wasn't like they were in any danger.
Hero unconsciously rested their head onto Villain's chest, temporarily forgetful of their promise to themselves.
A low chuckle vibrated from them, "Getting comfortable, I see?"
They froze and took a second to quietly chastise themselves for being too predictable. "Shut up."
"Who knew you'd be so easily swayed? Or maybe you just enjoy being in the clutches of a villain?" They chuckled louder, and this time, Hero didn't take their chances and pushed themselves off.
Villain forced them back down firmly, just enough to allow Hero to hear the thumping of their heart. "Where are you going?"
Their cheeks grew warmer at the sensation of Villain's breath by their ear. "Let me off." They said, still struggling to keep awake.
Villain's grip remained firm to keep them in place. "You're telling me what to do?" they lightly nudged them, their hand squeezing slightly on their thigh as a helpful reminder of their roles. "You're my prisoner, Hero. Remember that."
"I'm not, and you better let me go." They whispered sharply, still faltering against the currents of the undeniable attraction that pulled them closer to Villain.
"Why? You know you're enjoying this as much as I do."
Their blush darkened, "No, I'm not." Again, they tried to slip out of their grasp. Hero could hardly concentrate on their breathing; they had been warned previously about the challenges of facing Villain, and perhaps Villain's real powers lay in their charms and smooth talking. What would everyone say if Hero had been snuggling so closely with their sworn enemy? Then what?
As if reading their mind, Villain leaned in closely, "Don't worry, love. I'm not going to tell anyone about our little secret." A hand ran idly by the strands of their hair; they shivered instinctively. Hero knew that if it weren't for this blindfold, they would see that classic evil grin from Villain as they would savour their win against them. For now, Hero thought, they would have to play along nicely until their escape.

Prompt #65
“You can’t be serious right? You want to fight me just because I took down your favorite bakery shop?!” The villain exclaimed in disbelief, their jaw wide open.
The hero didn’t falter, frowning with their eyebrows and lips. “It had the best banana bread! You can’t just do that and not expect me to come find your ass!” The hero said, defensively.
The villain couldn’t help but find it cute, as they let out a laugh. “How about I promise to buy you the best bakery shop in the world?”
The hero took a step forward. “It doesn’t matter. I want the one that you destroyed.”
“I didn’t know.” The villain sighed, feeling like a helpless parent that had thrown an old toy of their child away, and now the child wanted it back.
The hero jabbed their finger to the villain’s chest, squinting their eyes. “You pay the owner to build it back, and I won’t fight you.” They demanded, staring daggers into the villain’s eyes.
“Fine.” The villain mumbled, after thinking for a second.
“Fine?” The hero questioned, not being able to believe the villain’s words.
The villain nodded. “Yes, fine.”
“You promise?” The hero asked, smiling slightly, as their hand smoothed over the villain’s chest.
“Yes, I promise, hero.” The villain smiled reluctantly as well.
And they indeed did help the owner rebuild the shop, an even bigger one just to see that gleaming smile on the hero’s face when they suggested it.
Oh, and they also had many dates in the shop.

Despite being relatively well-liked amongst the villainous population of City, Hero hadn’t encountered this before: upon returning home, Villain, buried under their bed covers, chest rising and falling in listless sleep. Hero keeps the lights off as they shut the open window and change.
They lift the covers and slide underneath, filling the space beside Villain. Villain stirs, cracking an eye open.
“Well, well,” Hero whispers. “What’s a lovely little troublemaker like yourself doing in my bed?”
Curtain-filtered moonlight casts over their face. Villain’s lips quirk up in half a smirk. “Was looking for someone to hold. Somewhere to hide.”
“From Supervillain?”
“Yes.”
Locking legs and hands finding waists; rites of comfort. Affection and longing. Suddenly, they’re both so tired.
“Can we stay like this for a while? Before you arrest me?” Villain’s question is suspended between theirs and Hero’s lips.
“You kidding?” Hero replies. “I might keep you to myself all night.”
They never fail to make Villain smile. “Maybe I should be more afraid.”
“Absolutely. People say I’m terrifying, haven’t you heard?” They tug Villain close, soliciting a laugh.
Hero reads something unspeakable in Villain’s gaze. A singular love they’ll never need to define, for they’re the first to hold Hero’s heart this way.
After a minute, “For the record, no one says you’re terrifying.” They burrow into the embrace. “But this is.”
It breaks Hero. These moments when each passing second feels like a facture. When holding Villain isn’t enough and reality promises to tear them apart.
“I know.” They kiss the crown of their head. “But we have tonight.”
Hero plans on sleeping in and waking up alone.

Break-Ins and Bandages
Here is my 1500 Followers Celebratory Snippet! Thank you for helping me brainstorm, @surplus-of-sarcasm and @lilywolfgray!
The sound of the window opening had Hero whipping their head around so fast it gave them a bout of dizziness. They had been perched on the end of their mattress, holding a pack of ice to their throbbing head and trying not to aggravate the rest of the wounds littered across their battered body. As the window opened the rest of the way, Hero’s heart leapt into their throat. Villain climbed over the sill into the bedroom. Hero jumped to their feet… and promptly keeled over. Villain sped over and caught them before they could hit the floor.
“Easy, easy,” Villain said, depositing them back on their bed, “not here to hurt you. I think I did enough of that this afternoon.”
“Why- how-?”
“I banged you up pretty bad, I felt like I should try to fix it.”
Villain had a bag slung over their shoulder, and as Hero got a proper look at it, they could see it was stuffed to the brim with medical supplies.
“After I gave the cops the slip, I may have followed you home… heh, sorry.”
Villain gave them a lopsided, apologetic smile. Hero’s brows furrowed in confusion.
“Don’t give me that look! I’m a villain, not a monster! Now, let’s have a look at you.”
Despite their protests, Villain helped Hero out of their shirt and started to examine them.
“Hm,” Villain said, “I really pack a punch, huh?”
“Ya think?” Hero winced as Villain touched a particularly tender spot.
“Okay.” Villain started to rummage in their bag, “let me start with the antiseptic.”
Villain pulled out a bottle and a cotton pad. Hero scuttled back on the bed.
“Villain, I appreciate this, but please don’t-”
“Hush.”
Villain lunged with the antiseptic. Hero cried out when Villain started to clean their cuts.
“You big baby,” Villain teased, “you can survive buildings falling on you, but a little wound tending is gonna be your undoing?”
“YES!” Hero hissed, their knuckle-white fists gripping the blanket under them.
Villain shook their head with a chuckle. Once every wound was cleaned, they started to medicate them and bandage them up.
“…Thanks,” Hero said uncertainly.
“Yep,” Villain said with a satisfied smile.
Villain started to put everything away. They were about to climb back out the window when Hero found themselves grabbing their arm.
“Uh…yes?” Villain asked, quirking an eyebrow.
Hero blushed in embarrassment.
“Um… I have some old movies on DVD… if you weren’t doing anything after this…”
Villain smiled knowingly.
“Because,” Hero added quickly, “I’m still injured, someone should probably keep an eye on me so I don’t aggravate the wounds, and-”
A peck on the cheek shut Hero up straight away.
“Took you long enough, gumshoe,” Villain said.
Villain set the bag down, closed the window, and swept Hero up into a bridal carry. Hero yelped.
“Villain! Put me down!”
“You’re still injured, you said so yourself,” Villain said, “where’s your living room?”
A huff from Hero and some directions later, and the crime-fighter was nodding off on Villain’s shoulder to some fantasy movie. Villain kissed Hero on the crown of their head. Mission accomplished.

Hello dearest kitty, I'm here begging on my knees for some fluff
Okay okay I'll stop, but it was a funny start especially after your least post, but I really love your writing and I would love to see you write some sub villain X dom hero fluff, about self care and maybe a little bit on self harm cuz I have exams and this is my comfort trope.
But regardless if you write it or not I want you to know that I really appreciate all your work and I it makes such a huge difference in my life, you're one of the people I can look at and be happy 😁💖
tw mention of self-harm
“This is…nice.” The villain frowned and hugged their own legs, almost as if they had never been in a bathtub before. Still tired, they leaned against the tiles of the bathroom wall. All the hero could focus on were their lashes when they closed their eyes.
Admittedly, the hero hadn’t considered this to be the result. They hadn’t expected to end up in bed with their nemesis. It would have been easier if this was part of a mission, they reckoned. But fate was much crueler.
Now feelings were involved. Complicated, difficult feelings. Sometimes they didn’t know if they should blame themselves or the villain. After all, the villain was devoted and passionate. They were tactical and brilliant.
And they were also pretty. Ridiculously pretty.
The hero swallowed.
Why was this happening to them out of all people?
“I don’t think anyone has ever made that kind of effort for me,” the villain said. They smiled and the hero’s heart dropped.
“You mean letting in some water?”
“Well, yeah…and the breakfast. The soft kisses. The massages, you know?” The villain looked at the hero again. “No one has ever done that for me.”
For the hero’s taste, they were too far away from each other. Even though the bathtub wasn’t the biggest, the hero didn’t want to sit on opposite ends. They worried their bottom lip between their teeth.
“Can you come closer?” they asked and the villain nodded, obeying quickly.
The hero let out a shaky breath they didn’t even know they were holding once the villain sat down on their hips. At this point, it was like a drug. The hero craved this affection and these hands on their skin.
It wasn’t just pleasure, it was something more vile. Something that could bleed and die, something that could destroy the hero within seconds.
A few hours ago, they hadn’t realised it. Not really. But now that they knew they weren’t just attracted to the villain, they needed to control themselves.
“You know you deserve it, right?” they asked. The villain didn’t meet their eyes, though. “You deserve nice things.”
“Is this a separating-work-and-personal-life-thing? Because we both know I’ve done despicable things in the past.” The villain looked ashamed. They let their thumb run along the hero’s biceps, almost as if they could distract themselves that way.
“No. I like you the way you are. Even the parts you deem ugly.” The hero touched the scars the villain had tried to hide yesterday gently. They couldn’t stop looking at their nemesis. At their perfect face, their perfect body. The hero wasn’t sure why their melancholy was taking over the now.
Yesterday, they’d been laughing and kissing. They’d never had that much fun in quite a while. But now, responsibility weighed heavy on their shoulders again and they couldn’t bear the feeling of saying goodbye in a few hours.
“You’re just saying that to make me feel better.”
“Have I ever been dishonest with you?” the hero asked. Brilliance wasn’t a gift. It was the result of hard work and the hero could appreciate and respect that the villain had been working just as much as they had. Both were the same in that aspect, destroying themselves because that seemed to be logical: working until you had results. No failing, no mistakes. 100%. All the time.
The villain smiled softly. Maybe even sadly.
“When you told me you love me yesterday?” they asked quietly but the hero already shook their head.
“No, that wasn’t a lie.” Their finger traced one of the villain’s scars. Somehow, the bathwater was getting hotter and hotter. The hero closed their eyes as they tried to calm down. “You’re lovely.”
It was only natural, wasn’t it? To be attracted to someone who challenged, yet matched them in so many ways? God, the hero was really at the end of their rope.
“Hm. You know, under all these layers—” the villain touched their chest “—of calculated and raw reason—” they drew a heart with their finger into the hero’s skin “—there’s a very gentle soul inside you.”
“Is that criticism or a compliment?” the hero asked. Again, looking at the villain made their stomach turn. In a good way. Kind of.
Their nemesis smiled.
“Just an observation,” the villain said. They leaned forward and kissed the hero’s cheek. “Thank you for taking care of me. I kinda suck at it.”
The hero’s hand was still on the villain’s scars.
“You just need a little bit of help, that’s all. Everyone does.” The villain was still so close. If the hero moved their head a little, they’d be kissing.
Hell, why was their heart beating so fast?
“Do you think I could be better?” the villain asked. “Do you think I could change?”
“Change is inevitable,” the hero explained. “But I…I got you.”
They held onto the villain a little tighter this time and honestly, they knew why their heart ached when they brought them home.

P.O.V: Villain finds out Hero's burden.
————
"What are you doing here?" Villain asked, walking behind Hero. Villain held an umbrella over Hero to stop them from getting more wet then they were already.
"What do you mean? Why I'm in a graveyard?" Hero asked rhetorically with a slight scoff, kneeling beside a grave. "That's question seems more fitting for you."
"I asked first." Villain said with venom in their tone, glaring at Hero.
Hero went quiet. It wasn't every day that they got to open up to someone, let alone to their mortal enemy.
"Well? Cat got your tongue?" Villain raised an eyebrow.
"Shut it. I'm not opening up to you." Hero responded, only briefly turning away from the gravestone to glare at Villain.
"I didn't say you had to open up, I asked why you were here. Surely, you don't know 53 people personally." Hero's eyes widened as Villain pointed out how many graves Hero had visited and left flowers at.
"And you intend to visit about 20 more, based on the amount of flowers left in the bouquet." Villain smirked, knowing they had cornered Hero to make them speak.
Hero hesitated for a second before speaking, "No... You're right. I didn't know these people personally."
"Then why are you paying your respects?"
"Because I killed these people."
Villain froze, completely shocked by Hero's words. They had never seen Hero even raise a finger to the worst of the civilians, let alone end someone's life. Hero was an angel, at least, that's what Villain thought.
"Why? How?" Villain asked, watching Hero stand up.
"They got caught in the cross-fire of my fights." Villain's eyes softened. Hero was still an angel, but one ridden with guilt for something they couldn't control.
"It's not your fault, you know..." Villain's tone raised, and they spoke slower, as if talking to a scared child.
"...what?" Hero didn't understand. They had killed them. They had gotten to reckless when fighting villains, and killed these people.
"It's not your fault. You didn't kill these people. Why are you holding yourself responsible?" Villain placed a hand on Hero's shoulder, silence filling the air, interrupted by only the sound of rain hitting the ground and umbrella.
"Because I did. I was to reckless with my power, I should have been more careful, I could ha—"
"Hero." Villain cut them off. "You couldn't control it. It's not your fault. You were doing your job. Think about it. If you were more cautious, you couldn't have taken down some of the greatest villains, like Supervillain. These minor losses were simply the effects of saving many more people in the future. So please, calm down, and stop blaming yourself." Villain ended their speech with a sigh. "Please."
"...I can't promise anything." Hero responded, avoiding Villain's gaze.
"Then try."
Hero smiled softly, nodding as they took Villain's hand off their shoulder, interlocking their hands.
"Alright, thank you, Villain."
Then, a realization dawned on Hero.
"Why are you here?" Hero said with skepticism. "And how did you know how many graves I visited?"
"U-uhm... haha... so..." Villain tried to squirm out of Hero's hand, but god were they strong.
This time, it was Hero's turn to raise an eyebrow and smirk.
"Looks like I've got a little stalker on my hands."

If you'd like, please write about an injured hero who needs to be carried around by villain! >:D
“One more complaint and I’m dropping you,” the villain announces, briefly readjusting their grip. They have one arm looped under the hero's knee and the other supporting their enemy's back.
The hero has been steadily avoiding eye contact, instead looking ahead. They look a bit flustered, for some reason. “This is humiliating,” the hero sighs, looking down at their ankle with a menacing glare.
“Yes, it is humiliating,” the villain agrees, an annoyed expression on their face as they stare ahead. They thank the stars that they're walking down a rather narrow and abandoned side street. They wouldn't be able to do this downtown, in broad daylight—both because they're too prideful, and because someone may recognize them. “Maybe if you had paid attention instead of tripping over nothing-”
“Hey, that’s not very nice bedside manner,” the hero interjects. The villain has to take a moment to process that statement.
“Bedside manner is for people who are ill or dying,” the villain sighs, “You’re just dramatic.” Gods, why do they even bother? They could be at home right now, washing the dried blood from their skin and melting under the warm water from their shower. Instead, they're carrying the hero across town as if they're some sort of delivery service. Absolutely ridiculous.
“You haven’t dropped me,” the hero points out. They look far too smug for the villain's liking. Indeed, their next remark nearly makes the villain's jaw crack from how hard they're gritting their teeth. “So I must be doing something right.”
The villain takes a deep breath, trying to maintain their composure. Leave it to their enemy to make a simple act of kindness so painful, overcomplicated, and tedious. “You’re clinging onto my neck so tightly that I’ll get whiplash if I drop you,” the villain feels the need to point out.
“Fair enough,” the hero acquiesces. After a moment’s contemplation, they loosen their grip on their neck. The villain can almost feel the weight slowly seeping from their shoulders. They had underestimated the hero's grip strength, it seems.
They expect the hero to be still once more, but their enemy doesn't relax. It only takes a few moments for them to snap. "Stop squirming," the villain demands.
"I was loosening my grip, asshole-" The hero seethes irritatedly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, what was that?" The villain asks, making a show of looking around at the empty street around them. "Was I just insulted for helping my enemy back to their agency—which, might I say, is an entirely voluntary and selfless act of heroism?"
The hero scoffs and rolls their eyes. "Oh, please," they huff. The villain gets the feeling that, if their arms were free, they'd cross them over their chest in indignation. "You wouldn't know heroism if it punched you in the face."
The villain just stares at them, waiting for them to catch on to what they just said. The hero connects the dots moments later, as they evidently realize that they themself have indeed punched the villain in the face before.
An awkward tension clings to the air. The villain continues walking down the street towards the hero's agency, internally cursing their pure heart. If this is how inconvenient it is to be a hero, then they don't plan on doing anything remotely good ever again.
Mercifully, the building begins to appear in the distance. As the villain crosses the street, the hero begins to murmur. “Let’s go in through the back,” they say, “Just turn the corner, there’s a door back there-”
“Oh, absolutely not,” the villain interjects immediately. "If we're doing this, then we're doing this." They readjust their grip once more and stroll towards the elaborate front doors of the city's top superhero agency. They can feel the hero stiffen in their arms.
“Please, no,” the hero begs them. The villain doesn’t bother listening, instead continuing to walk purposefully towards the entrance. The security is laughably lax at this hour. It's when they cross the threshold of the entrance that the hero attempts to break free from their grasp. Thankfully, the villain had been expecting them to do just that, and they manage to hold tight.
The villain pointedly clears their throat, satisfied with the way the occupants of the foyer immediately swivel around and stare with gazes of recognition. “I think I have something of yours,” they announce, looking down at the hero in their arms. At this point, the hero is positively wriggling in their arms—desperate for escape. The villain finally decides to take pity on them and they release their grip, leaving the hero to fall to the ground.
“Ouch.” The hero mutters once they hit the ground. The villain rolls their eyes, knowing that the hero managed to break their fall with a tactical roll and land without injury. They push themselves to stand on one foot and someone nearby rushes to their side, providing them adequate support to remain balanced on one side.
Everyone's eyes are on them, as if they're waiting for the villain to do something. "You may carry on," the villain orders, when a few seconds pass and the onlookers continue to stare expectantly. Their voice seems to break through the confusion and anticipation, and the people scattered around the space return to whatever they were doing. "I've done my civic duty for the year." They mutter to themself, turning on their heel and heading for the door.
"Hey." The hero's voice makes them freeze in place. The villain inhales slowly, summoning more patience. They turn around and manifest a calm expression.
"What?" They ask, struggling to keep the frustration from their voice.
"Thanks." The hero smiles.
"Just- don't let it happen again," the villain answers, looking away from the hero's far-too-bright smile. They turn on their heel and walk away, pushing away any and all feelings born from their enemy's gratitude.

the villain, holding the hero by the scruff of their neck: look what i foundddd!
the villain: this heroism stuff sucks. the hero: *expresses their gratitude and smiles* the villain, visibly flustered: now hold on a second...
this dynamic really amuses me. I can't get rid of the mental image of the villain holding the hero by the scruff of the neck like a kitten, and the hero just kind of hanging there in defeat. good stuff.
the villain lies awake that night, unable to stop thinking about the hero. :3
and thanks to the anon who sent this request! I posted a cry for help yesterday very briefly and then got embarrassed and deleted it, but! the original point still stands: my ask box is open! send me stuff and i *may* write it!

Loving Names
Hero was perplexed when Villain stopped calling them by their terms of endearment. Things like “honey,” “love,” or “sweetheart,” had made them melt, but they’d never dare show interest to an enemy like that. They were just curious as to why, that’s all.
It was just a bit strange now that they realized after their last few battles with Villain, all the nicknames had disappeared entirely.
In the time they met Villain they always knew there was just something about them that drew them closer. It wasn’t just the way Villain affectionately talked them up or the small remarks that gave them butterflies but also the hints of deeper feelings they left for them with every banter.
It all tore at their heart, of course they can’t openly say something so embarrassing. A hero’s job was to protect the city and its citizens from villains and this one was no exception.
So Hero never reciprocated the behaviour. They couldn’t let themselves become caught up in the emotional drama Villain was leading them in.
At least they should’ve saw it coming. They should’ve known that after denying Villain from the satisfaction of ever knowing how they felt, that Villain would eventually stop pursuing. They would stop the flirting and the lingering gazes. The gentle but brief touches and the high risk close combat that gave Villain a chance to speak soft poems to them.
It was like a reset button had been pressed and Villain immediately returned to how things initially were when they first met.
For that, Hero felt great regret.
Which is why they were planning on confronting them.
***
They found Villain sitting casually at the scene of another crime. It almost seemed unusually quicker than normal. It would take at least an hour to detect Villain at any of these attacks, but it looked like the universe had something else in mind.
Determination pushed Hero toward their nemesis, the question still boiling deep inside them.
Hero walked behind them as the other idly sat on the roof, their feet dangling at its edge. “Villain,” they spoke.
They rose from their position, and turned to look at them with sly eyes. “Just in time. Shall we continue where we left off?”
Without much hesitation, Hero pulled out their weapon and readied themselves for the dance they’ve grown so familiar with.
Villain closed the gap and swung in their direction; their hand aiming for their gut. They quickly blocked the attack and backed up, a swift kick sent them back and let Hero breathe momentarily.
As the battle continued against Villain, their heart began to race out of anticipation for the promised conversation. It would be awkward at first, but as soon as they could get it out they would play it all off cool.
“What’s got your mind wandering?” Villain shoved Hero to ground as quickly as they tugged the weapon out of their grasp.
At first, they didn’t acknowledge the concern, but figured if anything, now would be the time to ask. Their eyes warily stared at Villain’s mischievous mask, though words began to fail them, “Uh…” it had to be now. They couldn’t let this stress take hold of them any longer.
The criminal stood just a few feet from them with a curious glint. They were certain they knew exactly what Hero was going to ask.
“I noticed…” Their voice was a lot shakier as they stood, “That you stopped with all the… names.” Their gaze stayed glued to the ground as their face grew hotter.
Villain hummed with an expression that lightened up instantly. “Oh, what do you mean?”
So they were going to play stupid. Was this some kind of punishment for not giving the reciprocation they were looking for?
They should’ve known and yet…
“You know…” They wiped their sweating hands onto their suit. “You always had a way with words.”
“I don’t seem to know what you’re talking about, Hero.”
They pouted slightly at the responses, “How do you not know? You’ve always called me… other things…” They trailed off. Just how long was Villain intending to keep them in this agonizing situation?
A laughter echoed which sent their head spiralling. Villain moved closer, their steps were quiet enough to match any predator. “I’m starting to think there’s something you want from me. I wonder what it is?~”
Hero tightened their lips. Maybe they should’ve kept their mouth shut after all. “I’m only asking a question.”
Villain circled them, still putting on their clueless face, “I can’t answer a question if you won’t make it clearer for me.” They shrugged. The enemy was no where in sight, though they could sense Villain stalking behind them.
A ghostly touch climbed up their spine. With their shoulders tense, Hero spun around to face Villain who was only inches from them. “W-what!?” They stammered.
“You always keep me waiting, Hero. Always guessing your motives.” From their expression Hero caught something change, “A never ending cycle of not knowing…”
They sighed, their heart still hammering in their chest, “Did I do something to upset you? To make you stop… with the terms of endearment?”
Lips curled slowly upwards at their questions. “Oh. So you did like them after all.” They chuckled warmly. “Did you enjoy having cute pet names?”
Hero took several steps back, “What? No!”
“Alright. Then I guess there shouldn’t be a problem then if I stop—”
“No, don’t!” It came out unexpectedly from them. It was enough to make Villain’s eyes go wide, and the air to grow thicker.
Their thoughts tugged at them again, they didn’t want Villain to just stop but they also hated to admit they loved it.
“So you don’t want me to stop? Why?” They chuckled.
Damn it. Villain knew exactly what they were doing.
Their mind fumbled to grab the words they needed to play it all naturally.
“Why? Because uhm…”
“C’mon. I know you can say it for me~”
They nervously tapped their foot to the ground, “Fine…” They said through clenched teeth, “I liked it.”
“You mean you loved it, right?”
They nodded.
Their nemesis’ laughter didn’t stop though, it only increased from there. Villain always went overboard with their teasing. “You loved what?” They leaned in closer.
Their hands tightened into a fist this time, eyes shut as their head hung low. It felt so shameful and exhausting to keep this up. “I loved it when… you call me… your love.”
“Aww… so you aren’t as heartless as it seems” Villain lifted Hero’s chin and brushed the hair from their face, “That’s all I needed to hear from you, my little dove.”
Oh, and there it was again. That satisfying tingle against their skin. That rush of dopamine and excitement.
Villain sensed their change in mood and smiled confidently, “You really take advantage of these pet names, don’t you?”
“Only from you.” Their head tilted into Villain’s palm.

Prompt #66
“What if I told you that I loved you to the moon and back?” The villain asked with a cheeky grin. Their hand gently carded through the hero’s hair, massaging the scalp gently.
The hero chuckled lowly, putting down the book they were reading. “I’d say you’re a sap. Which is not a good combination along with being a villain.”
The villain smirked, snorting. “Oh yeah? Then why did you agree to marry me when I said that exact same line to propose you?”
“Because you were proposing me in front of the whole city. It’d embarrassing to reject you. I did it to save my reputation.” The hero sighed.
“So you admit it was a good line?” The villain questioned, perking their eyebrows up with a laugh as they lean down to give a kiss on the hero’s forehead.
“Yeah, yeah. You got me all wooed.” The hero admitted with a smile, bringing the villain’s hand down to their mouth to smooch it.
