something something i'm not as interested in reading/writing x reader/r anymore something something

#june shines #bc. my boyfriend #periodt #but the dilemma remains because i still enjoy writing and want to scream about the characters #i guess it's the x reader part #which kinda alienates me from most writers on here!!!! which sucks a lot!!!!!#but idk there was also a point in like 2022 as well where i was experiencing this #and it never really stopped it only solidified #god but i still want to write here and for my favs and ahghhh #i just have to figure out a type of content i enjoy #i would be more suited for fanart at this point just because i can spend the whole time appreciating the character without coming up with a #-story i'm disinterested in #does that make sense #but i'm not very good at art! which is ok!!! i still enjoy it which is all that matters #but as far as fanart content creation goes i'm not really suited for it #anyways #certified yapper #i'm going to try to come back with some type of content after finals but we'll see what that looks like

There are some people who like see a parent with a bunch of daughters and make weird comments like “sons are so much easier to raise” or “Better get your shotgun when she brings home a boy”. Basically sexist stereotypes which is really sad.

Can you do the Ror characters, especially some of the men reacting if someone made a stereotype comment about !childreader like that? Tysm

It is sad that people still think like this. Boys and girls are equally hard to raise as they each come with their own challenges! You got the attitudes, you got the hormones which make any gender go bananas in one way or another, growing pains and not being able to express their emotions the way they want to because nothing feel right, and plus they have to be a human on top of it which is stressful no matter the gender or age!! I’m gonna use some scary dads here >:3

-The moment (Leonidas, Thor, Odin, Buddha, Poseidon, Hades, Raiden, or Jack- pick your fav) heard those words uttered about you, his precious little daughter, who was currently weaving a flower crown for him, so you both would match, he knew instantly that he was probably gonna murder someone today.

-(Dad) grabbed the lowlife who uttered such filth, “You think I need to pull a weapon on another child just for being with my daughter? What makes you think she won’t be able to take care of herself? Are you insinuating that I would fail at raising my daughter to not make good judgement calls or being able to handle herself against someone who doesn’t respect her in the way she should be?”

-The heckler was panicking, trying to beg and plead that it was just a joke, that he meant it in a joking way because your daughter was so cute.

-Big mistake.

-(Dad) turned to you, his scary façade quickly fading, “Y/N, stay there and continue playing. I’ll be right back!” you nodded, smiling so sweetly up at him, “Okay papa!” he melted, feeling so warm and happy seeing you smiling at him.

-As soon as he turned back to the heckler, he was scary again, an aura of pain and death surrounding him as he hauled him up, “You said my daughter was cute, right? Why are you looking at a child in such a way? Guess I need to pull those out of your empty head!!”

-You sang happily as you held up your finished flower crown, ignoring the loud screaming in the background as the man your papa was talking to was begging for his life, trying to get away.

-When (Dad) arrived back, shaking his wet hands off as he had to wash the blood and dirt off, you ran to him, “Papa!” he smiled, picking you up and he grinned as you placed the flower crown on his head, “There- now we match!”

-He spun you around, making you squeal happily in delight as you both enjoyed the quiet moment together.

📡 _a/n. ty for the req anon ^-^ !! this took me some time to work on because i was trying to figure out how it would work, but yk i had to get it out before monday; though i had to cut back on the amount of characters. maybe i’ll do a part 2 if i’m motivated enough. usually i order characters by order of dorm, but i’ll make an exception for you here since, what’s not to love about azul?

a. ashengrotto

— you don’t blame yourself for having forgotten your own birthday, though it’s a shame; three days to obtain a picture in a museum under the sea or else your only living space will be taken from you, being forced to spend the nights at savanaclaw, and then finally, the third overblot of the year. the third! in the end though, you figured it didn’t matter too much. who would be able to celebrate your birthday with you, people from a whole different world than you?

— though you also didn’t expect things to get hectic romantically, you’re not upset about that either; so you sat with azul in his office, spending time together in comfortable silence as he got some work done. it seemed as though something had randomly popped up in his mind, though, as he carefully put his tea cup down on the coaster and turned to you. “also, i should ask, angelfish— when is your birthday? i’d like to remember so i can treat you.” for a moment, you debate how to respond. it’s already been three or four months since that day. “well..it already passed.” azul sighed, looking disappointed in a way you could quite express, before he continued, “oh? well that’s a shame. but nonetheless, what’s the date?” “ah..the day you overblotted?”

— you can’t help but notice the air turn heavy as the silence once comfortable turned awkward, azul appearing more miffed than before. at least, not long before; “well, is there anything in particular you wanted for your birthday?” you hummed in confusion before he started again, this time more confident, “it doesn’t matter if the time has gone, you’re my lover correct? i still might as well get you something special.” in any normal situation you would have probably shook your head politely and say it wasn’t necessary, but this was related to your birthday. of course, you took up his offer— you weren’t going to give up a birthday gift that easy.

— some people believed that no matter how different you two were, in some ways you were certainly akin to your lover, leona. after all, you didn’t seem too concerned with the way you missed your birthday, which was on the day of your lover’s overblot, no less; in fact, though you did seem upset to some degree, you didn’t seem to be nettled at all by the concept. although such a fact wasn’t exactly something people were aware of yet, at least not until leona himself became aware of it.

— “eh, herbivore. by the way, when’s your birthday? i don’t think you ever told me.” ..right, you nearly forgot again. well, it’s not that big of a deal, you suppose; at least it was the day after, but you’re over that now. you guess. “ahh, yeah, it already passed.” leona yawned, facing away from you as he laid on his bed with you next to him, in a sort of sitting position. “oh? well when exactly was that?” you shrugged lackadaisically, counting your fingers as if counting down the days since it had passed. “probably..the day you overblotted, i guess?”

— very slowly, to the point it was almost funny, leona’s head slowly turned to face you. usually he wouldn’t be bothered by sentiments like this, as his face was downturned with a chagrin frown, but after all you were his lover. and plus, it’s a little embarrassing to have overblotted on said lover’s birthday; even if you didn’t know. he wasn’t even able to spoil you the day after in apology! “in that case..write me a list of everything you want.”

r. rosehearts

— having a birthday near the start of the school year wasn’t exactly the best in terms of celebrating with new school friends; especially when on your third day of school, your friends’ housewarden raged into an overblotted monster, pretty awkward, isn’t it? but in the end, you’d completely forgotten anyway, what with your whole in-another-world dilemma, and the aforementioned overblot— oh, and that you almost got expelled on the whole day, and moving into ramshackle..certainly some tough times on your end.

— but now, things have calmed, and you’re together with your now partner, riddle, having a two person tea party in heartslabyul’s garden. most of what you’re talking about is related to the things going on in heartslabyul, but you don’t really mind; if you want to change topics, you know he’ll listen. though suddenly as he rambles on to you about unbirthday parties, a highlight of the aftermath of his overblot ( as well as your birthday, not that he knew ), he looks at you with a sparkle in his eyes, “—oh and i must ask, when is your birthday, dear? we don’t only hold unbirthday parties, you know.”

— had it not been for that, you’d probably have forgotten again, having been months since the beginning of your journey in twisted wonderland; though, you’d probably still complain internally every now and then. “ahah, it already passed this year, y’know. totally forgot to mention it.” riddle looked perplexed for a second, unsure how one could forget their own birthday, before returning to his casual expression a second later. “..is that so? but when was it, even so?” “mm, third day of school.” riddle wasn’t an idiot, he remembered what happened that day. the main star was him, after all. so inevitably, he couldn’t help but feel upset that he unintentionally ruined your second day. “r-really..then..i’ll dedicate today to you, instead. tell me what you want, i’ll get it prepared; like i said previous, we take parties seriously.”

did I name the bakery after a mlp character? Yes. Yes I did.

Warning: none

Being an idol wasn't as glorious as people made it seem. There were so many factors that lots of people wouldn't be able to handle. There was paparazzi, demanding managers, and crazy fans who sometimes forget their favs are human too.

Needless to say, Li was exhausted after his last tour. He had spent around 4 weeks performing under his stage name Iso, bouncing around countries that we're far from home. But now, he was finally able to relax.

He decided to spend his time off back at his hometown, visiting family and old friends. Iso's birthplace was relatively small compared to the big cities he's grown used to, meaning it was much safer to go out without some disguise. He walked through the market place, looking at all the familiar shops and reminiscing of his younger years.

There were a few street vendors, a convenience store and... wait a minute.

Huh, that place must be new.

Iso stopped, looking up at the sign that read "Sunset Shimmer Bakery" in fancy writing.

I guess I'll give it a try.

Iso entered the bakery and was immediately struck by the scent of freshly baked pastries. He looked around, taking in the warm and cozy atmosphere. There were warm toned lights strung along the ceiling, which gave a much gentler feel compared to bright florescents. The air around him was warm and there were tables with soft cushioned chairs in sort of a gold-yellow hue.

You perked up at the sound of a customer entering and made your way towards the counter from the kitchen.

"Hello, and welcome to Sunset Shimmer Bakery. Are you ready to get an order started or do you need a moment?"

Iso looked up at the source of the voice and his pupils dilatated. In front of them was the most beautiful person he had ever seen, despite being in a flour covered apron.

"I uh- one minute please."

"Alright, I'll be over here when you're ready."

The man stood staring for a moment as you returned to what you had been doing before. Snapping out of his trance, he took some time to assess the sweets in the display case in front of him. There was a plethora of pastries and other sweets, ranging from mini cheesecakes and muffins to more Chinese snacks like custard buns and jiandui (sesame balls).

After a few moments more, he looked up to see you had finished your task and were now waiting on him.

"Are you ready to order?" You asked with a sweet smile. You were just doing your job but god Iso couldn't help but to think you were adorable.

"Yeah, I think I'll take one of those," he said, pointing into the display case."

Somehow, your face seemed to light up even more as you went to open up the case.

"This one is one of my favorites! I like to call it Star-berry Shortcake!"

The pastry was a single serving sized strawberry shortcake, with a tiny bit of gold powder sprinkled over the top with some star sprinkles decorating the top.

You packed up a slice in a box for him before sticking something to the top of it and putting it in a small bag. The man got out his wallet, ready for you to tell him his total before looking up and seeing you holding the bag out to him.

"This one's on the house!"

He was quick to argue, being more than willing to pay you but you just smiled and shook your head with an "I insist".

Iso sighed, taking the bag and then thanking you. He begins to head towards the door before stopping in his tracks and turning back to you.

"By the way...what's your name?"

You let out a soft and angelic laugh before answering "It's Y/n."

The idol nodded before bidding you goodbye once again, making his way back home. Once there, he sat down and pulled his sweet treat out of the bag before reading the note you had stuck to the top.

"I never thought such a big star would walk into my little bakery. Thank you for the visit, Iso <3"

Iso smiles at the note and the little heart you drew in the corner. Setting it aside, he began to eat the cake he just bought- was given. The cake was delicious and seemed to be just as sweet as you had been.

He would have to visit your shop again. If not for the baked goods, then it would be for the cute owner that has piqued his interest.

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Laws of Attraction (Sat iQIYI) 4 of 8 - Omg the way the bodyguard (handler?) looks at the rich kid. Gah. I see why @heretherebedork loves these 2. But I really hate him (not the handler, the kid). Fun fight scene. I love lawyer babygirl SO MUCH. HE WILL BE MY 2023 FAV CHARACTER. I’M CALLING IT. This ep, Srs? You’re killing me. Suits! Pussycat bows! And then... The Public Claiming!!!!! One of my favorite tropes! And openly flirting? Boys. I’m getting spoiled. Wait… is that…? NO SINGING. Ah well, Thai BL giveth and Thai BL taketh away.

Hidden Agenda that isn’t hidden (Sun GMMTV YouTube) ep 4 of 10 - I like the script for this. It feels like the conversations they have are very honest to a uni experience. It’s comfortable and breezy. I did not expect the kiss. Bit early in the arc. There is either going to be a lot of backend drama, or a long domestic honeymoon period. (Bet you can guess which one I vote for.)

Low Frequency (Sat iQIYI) ep 5 of 8 - It’s moving along in a Ghost Host kinda way (minus the killer chemistry). I’m not mad about it, I don’t think I'll remember it tho.

Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 5 of 12 - My ambivalent relationship with this drama continues. Cohabitation trope. Punn is basically a huge puppy trying to spoil/cuddle/fuck his pretty kitty prince. It is what it is. Meanwhile, I just want more of Big Daddy & the Hot Doc. (Also the name of my burlesque show.) Why does Kevin have more chemistry with Ashi in a 1 min long scene than Punn has had… ever? Is this nascent bad boy effect or nascent 2nd lead syndrome I’m feeling? (Meanwhile Ben! Hi! Long time no see!)

Wedding Plan (Weds YT & iQIYI) ep 3 of 7 - I have decided that Lom’s theme song is BigBang’s Monster. Listen. You’ll see what I mean. Also BigBang = also very problematic but banging. What I’m saying is, I wanna punch Lom so bad, I went slightly bonkers. Water sports are addressed. A trash watch is happening!

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Jun & Jun (Korea Thurs Viki) 3 of 8 - How DARE they make me love this show so much? I feel personally attacked. The smell thing! Gah. The way they automatically go informal in private. The flirting. The language. The suits, the EVERYTHING. It’s embarrassing how much I rewatch the final bits of each ep.

Stay By My Side (Taiwan Fri Gaga) 6 of 10 eps - I adore this ridiculous show. (I just realized that the actor playing Jiang Chi played Ray’s evil 2-timing bf in About Youth). Baby boy is quite clueless. Sweet dreams tho. I love them both so much. The washing his jersey scene was so fucking cute. Couple’s numbers, couple’s keychains, bridal towel, kisses. Thank you Taiwan for NOT activating blushing maiden. However, confident gay/confused bisexual is a go. And we got us some justifiable angst. Sigh. I’m so happy.

Sing My Crush AKA Follow The Wind (Korea Weds iQIYI) 1-2 of 8 eps - supposed to have released in the first half of 2022 this is a adaption of Myung’s webtoon, from the director of My Sweet Dear, and Love Tractor’s production house, basically Korea does About Youth. It’s sweet (the singing bits are easy to skip) and very much a story of young first love but less stiff than KBL’s usual high school fare (kinda Taiwan feeling). I like it but that very imprecision in production makes me concerned for an HEA, especially with such a low MDL rating.

Tokyo in April is... AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 8fin - Rough final episode, but it does end happily. Fortunately, I had some warning for my personal triggers, but this is Japan and they did go dark. Full review below.

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) 5 of 12 eps - Shin is so cute and proud and boldly out. I love him. Movement in the relationship with both couples, even if it’s movement into arguments and misunderstanding. I suppose we got 12 eps they need to do... something.

Stay Still (Hong Kong Tues YouTube) 1 of 5 eps - It’s confusing. And… not good? Some flashbacks some present day?

It’s airing but ...

Review: Tokyo in April is... AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa

I had to chew on this for a while but here’s where I ended up.

Two young men with a shared tragic past reunite and fall in love all over again, but the past will not stop hunting them. Based on a manga, this office set reunion romance is GREAT… damn it. It’s Japan in full on soft focus which means it gets emo, abusive, and chewy. These two characters are giving parts of their souls away in a desperate attempt to shape themselves to the expectations they have of each other.

Japan gave us the Bed Friends that Thailand could never even imagine. But here’s the thing: I don’t enjoy my BL this heavy and cutting. I know that for The 8th Sense crowd this is peak BL and I can’t argue with the fact that the romantic devotion, domesticity, script, and acting IS all on point. It’s just not my personal preference for that point to be so damn sharp. I appreciate that this being 2023 I have the luxury of consistent quality (especially from Japan) and thus the ability to say…

I acknowledge that this SHOULD get a 9/10 but I can’t emotionally go higher than 8/10

RECOMMENDED BUT KNOW WHAT KIND OF BL THIS IS AND TRIGGER WARNINGS LIKE CRAZY

Japan = sticking to its lanes like their BL is on rails.

8/? Why R U? (Korean remake) is supposed to be out this month, filming started in sept 22. I find everything about this hilarious. I mean if Korea remakes it, we lose all the sexy and then... would we have a story at all? No we would not. Not even for six short eps. It’d be like one of those mesh shopping bags.

The full lineup is almost done!! (just needs some touch ups and a Chunsik design👍) FEEDBACK IS GREATLY APRECIATED!!

Design process under here (whole lot of yapping)

General thoughts: Ive given them in my previous design sheet (you can find it in my blog)(tldr: designs match characters but still childish, 8-12 years old). Only thing different here, is that these eggs were eggs who I had less of a clear idea of what I wanted to do with them (though I still really liked where I ended up!!)

Empanada: Didnt want to go for the full sweet lolita route, mostly because I thought it'd take away the "little kidness" of it all, but something that still resembles the aesthetic. She's wearing "carneirinhos" (idk the name in english) which is very cute little girl to me, and shes also a demon! Her tail resembles a frying pan!! Though I might change her fringe (it was supposed to be baby hairs but now that I think about it, her type of hair probably wouldnt have them) and put some argyle pattern in her sweater vest. I just forgor💀 to do that...I also wish I had made her shorter, but unfortunetely I drew this before the eggs did the height check (YES ITS BEEN THAT LONG).

Sunny: My beautiful baby girl. She means the world to me. I love this minecraft egg with all my heart. Shes wearing Light up sketchers and some fairy wings like Pomme, and shes actually wearing a swimsuit, she just put a tutu over it. The diamonds they're always holding are rings, they have a "terere" in their hair (idk name in english😭😭) and the beads were inspired by an artist on twt (@\BLUETOMATOSODA). Also if you are wondering why her hair looks like tentacles, its because I had originally made it puffy, but changed my mind after doing the lineart, so i had to get creative with me covering it up. Just pretend she has a fan, shes a star after all!

Pepito: Basically, he is very smoll. Chiquito even. He has strawberry hair and MASSIVE glasses that take up his entire face. Hes wearing a swimsuit aswell (dont ask how it works idk either), and has floaties since he cant swim. Hes got crocs, since flip flops hurt his toes, with a spider man charm on them! Also hes got a sunhat, mostly cause I wanted some other accessorie but didnt want to go with gas mask since it'd kinda kill the whole swimming vibe (since his model is wearing a swimsuit). sorry if its not too accurate to his character. Side note: Him, Em and Sunny all have freckles! Him and Sunny all over their bodies while Em just has on her cheeks.

Leo: Cute sporty vibe, love her shorty spiky hair. Wanted to try to make her face spiky aswell, for the whole shark dad thing. Shes got a necklace with a shark tooth (I guess she got it from Foolish??). He changes tshirts randomly, and opens and closes his attack on titan hoodie depending on the tshirt's expression (basically my version of Leo changing her player heads constantly). His trainers have dragon wings and also: whealies!!

Dapper: Im gonna be honest: did not expect to like his design THIS much. The colouring really elevated, with the long blue hair (the same colour as the ghosties!). Wanted to make them, y'know, dapper, so I had to sacrifice some of the "little kid vibes" unfortunetely, but I think it fits her still. The hat has part of the helmet that they used to wear a lot, demon horn to match Pomme, and a suit that is VERY inspired by Death the Kid from Soul Eater (very fitting for a reaper in training imo). Might be my favourite design!

Ramon: Jesus fuck you'd think designing your fav egg would be easy BUT NO. I struggled long and hard. Again, he doesnt have that much "little kid" vibe whatever man😭😭 Im just happy that I even managed to make SOMETHING. Hes got Create googles, his meathead is a massive hat that completely hides his hair. Very simple, very Ramon, though I will probably end up making a version with an ugly sweater just like he likes instead😔. I still like it but. man...

this is a different au where will quits the fbi and becomes a painter (if im not wrong). abigail is alive and works for him. i read this awhile ago and i remember loving it because of how sarcastic will was. one of my notes was: will was so desperate to open up (not sure why but this man is so touch starved and craved for affection in the show so i guess it's canon accurate). i also have a soft spot for fics with abigail in it because she deserves the world.

2. Five Times Hannibal Visits Will and One Time He's Already Home (or: Coffee Cake) by bones_2_be

When Will tells Hannibal to leave at the end of Digestivo, he goes. And then, a few years later, he shows back up. They have long conversations, drink a lot of wine, at the end of it all they find something that works.

i just finished reading this 2 days ago and it was an experience. i loved how well paced it was. the writing really matched the same vibe of the show. both hannibal and will were written quite accurately to how i feel they would react in the show itself. the way both of them interacted in this fic was realistic and how i wish i could erase my mind of this fic so i could experience it again for the first time.

3. each according to its kind by chaparral_crown

Will does the only reasonable thing that someone fresh out of a mental hospital with no support system does - he leaves, and goes on a road trip to the Pacific Northwest.

this fic is THE hannigram fic, fight with the wall. kidding. this is more of a character study of will (hannibal doesn't even show until halfway through). the writing is top tier and just like the fic before it really does match the vibe of the show. i personally am not a big fan of smut (i don't mind it, i just prefer plot over that) and this book barely had any in it which is a godsend.

4. ...And This One is Just Right by Sabi

When an injured BSHCI escapee breaks into Dr. Graham's vet clinic, it doesn't end cleanly. Surely it couldn't happen again? Or again?

will is a vet in this universe and i'm not sure why but i pictured him younger? it's only 4 chapters if im not wrong and it's a fun read! the characterisation of will is not as accurate to the show but to be fair it is a different universe and i still love this fic dearly.

So I saw a post earlier (haha I found it! https://www.tumblr.com/pinyeti/744877479206993921/just-thinking-about-how-the-reason-one-piece-is-so) about the reason that One Piece works so well is that every character is a main character—from Buggy to Whitebeard, Robin, or even Katakuri—we could follow any of them and still have an epic story.

Which got me thinking about how Luffy’s story would stand out even if we followed someone else’s story…

Whitebeard’s a bit old to be going after the One Piece at his age, but his kids believe in him so Seas be damned, he guesses he’s going after it. Technically, if he makes it more of a never-ending scavenger hunt, he doubts any of his kids’ll notice besides maybe Marco, who’ll only side-eye him at times.

More so, he wants to see his kids take the world by storm, to stand on their own but always know that they have a family to come back to at the end of the day. Family is more than blood, and he’ll make damned sure each of his kids know he’ll always be their Pops, but that’s not to say they can’t have family elsewhere. The majority that do, have mostly parted ways, but for the minority who actually keep in contact…well let’s just say it makes for some interesting stories around dinner time. Especially from young Ace, what with his firecracker of a younger brother. For a rookie, he certainly started off with a high bounty. It wouldn’t make waves in Paradise, but it’s certainly nothing to scoff at when it comes to the Blues, especially the East. After that, it’s like the boy and his crew can’t sneeze without falling into trouble. Between Ace’s stories and the fact that Edward wasn’t born yesterday, he could understand what the Marines were trying to cover up in Alabasta. Those kids took out a Warlord. And after that, it just doesn’t stop. Destroying Enies Lobby. Declaring war on the World Government. Taking out another Warlord. At the rate those Strawhats were going, he was sure Ace would be getting another meetup with his brother soon, most likely in the New World. And if Whitebeard was lucky, maybe he’d get another son.

~Now here you can imagine either Marineford just not happening or my fav, it happens (because Luffy storming Impel Down is that perfect blend of chaos and caring) but Ace and Whitebeard live~

2 years and some time after Wano…

“Hey Ace, what’s your brother up to, you haven’t talked about him in a while?”

“Which one?”

“Which one? You have more than one?”

“Yeah, there’s Sabo, who’s second in command of the Revolutionary Army, and Luffy, who’s a god.”

“WHAT!! What do you mean Luffy’s a god?! That little pipsqueak you’d talk about who was always getting into trouble? He’s a god?!”

Plant Portraits

(pst- psssssst!- Hey, hey you. Yeah, you! Want to see something cool? look at this post by @hellishgayliath. It's about the characters shown here! They worked on it for a week straight, so check it out!) . . .

Hi, yes, hi, hello. Yeaaaaaah- steering away from the angst me & Helli brewed while I recover from crying. This was inspired exactly a month ago from this ask I made to Helli ask bout their oc's fav plants. I wanted to try out a new rendering style & thought this be a good opportunity + plant practice

Pico; He likes cinnamon plants/trees & likes to knaw on cinnamon sticks. So I did cinnamon plants! Specifically Cinnamomum cassia, or known as Chinese cassia, that is the most commonly sold cinnamon in North America (yes you are getting plant facts this took longer to research than to draw mainly because I like learning but that's besides the point and I wanna share knowledge) I really like how the leaves came out! Twas very fun. His plants are well maintained, healthy, & green (maybe too green lol) which shows his craft in gardening & care. Luci doesn't have teeth, so she can't really 'knaw' on things, so she didn't like trying Pico's snacks when she stole one. She was coughing on cinnamon for the next hour after. Pico laughed at her, obviously Ingenuity: the quality of being clever, original, and inventive

Bao; He likes wisteria flowers, the purple variation (my fav colour)! I loved loved LOVED coloring these plants, but it feels the most empty out of all of them (Clem is all over the place lmao) but I also kinda like it. Like it reflects their personalities this way, like he's the most upkept in society (despite his utter lack of gardening knowledge). Apparently, American wisteria is a host plant to native butterflies and moths! Add that to another reason Luci likes Bao lol. I feel like anytime she comes to the tea shop, Bao would bring her to the garden he & Pico would be working on. And everytime he's show her the plants he managed on his own they'd be drooping and dying lmao. Bao would be so confused & Luci is just unsurprised. And yes, I did think of & look at the wisteria in demon slayer Versatility: the ability to adapt or be adapted to many different functions or activities

Clem; She likes (take 3 seconds to guess) citrus fruits!! Like her name. So I of course did citrus fruits, lemons & oranges. She has my FAVORITE pose, her reaching for the fruit while juggling some in her other arm is adorable. And of course that cute face of hers! Her plants are just EVERYWHERE & is the only one to touch the ends of the canvas (that I wanted to avoid but oh well, it didn't look good otherwise). Besides, it shows her big personality and chaotic energy children have. Apparently, they're sometimes called 'Christmas oranges' because they're in season in winter months. I thought that was interesting. Does Clem like the cold, Helli or does she despise it like Pico lol? Apparently, they are also those cuties or halos oranges I use to devour as a child lol. And because of said memory, I say that Clem does too. I like to think Luci learns to share, like a child, from Clem, a said child. Luci sells back people's stuff overpriced all the time, and only shares things with Repo. She obviously isn't sharing anything with Pico & she mainly hangs out with Bao at the tea shop so she only buys things. She stole Clem's fruits in front of her once. Let's just say a bunch of sad faces and crying, not only bleed her earholes, but made her feel bad (but she'll never admit it). Does she share things now? Kindaaaaa- no. No, not at all. Only Clem & Repo Affability: the quality of being friendly and easy to talk to

aaaand my inspo board just cuz I was going to draw Vera, I really was! (I was so FRICKIN EXCITED to draw the plant with the braided stock next to the pink flower) but... one look at her head and the pose I chose, I said "No."

Bao was already troubling enough I don't need to build up hate to a character I barely know & already like by getting frustrated with their head (again). So no Vera, Helli, sorrys. Her descriptor was going to be 'nobility' btw

WOOO THE FIRST ONE IS HERE!!!

Funny enough, but my first ever drawing based on Confinium was with Navigator and not the Pilot (who still is my favourite to this day ABSOLUTELY ISN'T OBVIOUS YEAH). So, this Navi drawing was made in the summer of 2018 in my first sketchbook. Damn, I was 15 at the time...

I loved every character in the game, but Pilot resonated with me more than anyone else. Maybe his character is just something that is closer to me personally. So, I liked Pilot so much that I made a felted toy after him. It's still one of my favourites (I also have felted Zacharie and Bad Batter's head, but I consider them ancient at this point, and they look like they have seen some shit) and I brought it with me to the Black Sea one time. Me and my family traveled there by the car, 3 000 km to the sea and then 3 000 km back to my hometown, so that lil' guy have seen a bunch of russian cities and beautiful landscapes on our way B)

I also made some of my drawings in not so pleasant periods of my life (specifically the two last ones). I guess I got some sense of relief from drawing certain scenes from the game, trying to put my feelings in the atmosphere of those pieces.

I still come back to the game from time to time. The first time I played Confinium was in 2018, but only a year ago I found this "Bendy and the Ink Machine" song reference when you make Pilot observe the sheeps for a couple of times. That's actually what I really like about the original OFF itself and It's fangames. You can come back to the game and still manage to find something new for yourself each time you visit it.

By the way, Penta (my fav OFF OC) was originally made to be a Confinium OC, BUT THEN SOMETHING WENT HORRIBLY WRONG and now he's a character of his own story, which I want to make real someday hopefully.

And for the last, I also still have some old cosplays on Pilot and Omni in Pony Town eheheh

So that concludes my expirience with the game and it's characters, I guess. Thank you Xin for making this amazing game. Even if it's not completed, It still brings joy and happy memories to me and a lot of people who played it. Thank you for leaving a print on my teenage years. When you ever feel down, I hope that you will remember that there are people from all around the globe that appreciate you and the things you do. You matter.

not really, but I suppose that’s just a difference of opinion. I do think that gorgug’s nightmare sequence was one of the weakest, especially with how it shifted topics (being dead, small spaces, not being able to escape a stereotype, because if any of these had been expanded on that would’ve been great), but I do think a lot of gorgug’s character revolves around feeling in-between, or too much one thing and not another and trying to close that gap. The best one for me was deffo the sphinx tho, I interpreted it as not *just* about him being dumb, but rather like. You’re big and dumb and strong and your main job is getting angry and hitting shit with an axe. You went to a community of gnomes and they gave you a better axe, and you loved it. You are uniquely dumb, unlike those who have come before you, because you cannot solve a specific kind of puzzle while a sphinx talks at you. You are the reason your parents cut contact, and from the beginning you were unsuited for their home. Your extended family predicted that you would grow to know only rage, and here you are, a barbarian. You, from this perspective, are not proving them wrong.

I do think that that whole sequence does reveal that he’s afraid of like. Being that stereotype? And then going yeah sure I’m stupid eat me, then moving forward and clawing your way into understanding anyways

I did really love a lot of the topics his sequence brought up. Like I've read some incredibly well-written fanfics that covered the ways that claustrophobia, and imposter syndrome, and being dead have affected him. But like you said, if they had just honed in on at least one, rather than hopping back and forth, it could have done so much for that section. Cuz, personally, I don't feel like we saw Gorgug be significantly affected by any of those. At least not in a way that felt complete and satisfying.

I really like what you said about his character being "in-between". I totally agree. Kinda circles back to how his parents trying to help him calm his rage was actually stifling him.

Your family needs you to calm down; you've broken another bedchairdoorappliance. Your teacher wants you to rage; he says anger is good but you don't understand. You sing to try and calm yourself, you're always trying to be kind to others; they only use it to hurt you more and all you can do is get angry back. Your friends need you to rage. You don't have the power to protect them socially, but this you can do. You try not to rage outside of a fight, but.... they don't seem to be that bothered when you do. In fact, you watch them provoke physical confrontation when they're mad on many occasions.

(Oops dipped a biiiit into the pot of how important friendship is to his character. Did not mean to lol it's just one of my fav things about him so it's kinda subconscious I guess)

But yeah! He's also in such a limbo this season as well! You can't do this you're too angry, you're not smart enough for that, you don't rage right.

Also realllyy like your interpretation of his trial. The angle you described it at was really interesting.

I don't think stereotype is the right word, though. I would say... he's afraid of becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy? I'm assuming based on your own "stereotype?" that you weren't sure about the word either.

I don't think Gorgug is, or would ever be, afraid of being a "stereotype". Like I don't think he gives a shit about the stereotype that orcs/half-orcs/barbarians only know anger and destruction. I think he's afraid of being a self-fulfilling prophecy of all the things people say that he is. Stupid, mindless, destructive, etc. To pull from what you said here (which it wont let me copy paste on mobile god fucking damnit)

Rings back a bit to the start of fhjy to me. That dread of seeing the email of school starting back up again, and the terrible sinking pit in your stomach of avoidance, because the time has come to really unpack all that. There was something specific Zac said in his little Gorgug recap before the season started that was about, like, the dread of having to figure out who the fuck you're gonna be when everyone around you seems to have their shit together. That. That hit hard lmao but the experience that he's covered is very true to Gorgug, I think.

Only Friends Episode 9 - The Return

In which this is the episode where we see second chance kick in and growth in (almost) all our characters (FINALLY 🥹)

Mew and Top

We start with Mew waking up after the disastrous Halloween party, hungover and feeling generally unwell following his hard booze and drugs spell the night before. He also just seems exhausted and tired from well, everything.

Thankfully Top is working hard to gain Mew’s trust and repair his broken relationship with the former. And you can tell it’s working - Mew may continue to resist him, but as the episode progresses, he starts to soften up especially after he sees how Top treats his moms (like the queens 👸 they are!!! - love them by the way, and I reckon the moms are already planning a wedding in their head for their baby boy and Top 🤣🤣🤣)

I’m also glad that Top took the high road with the whole Ray/Sand /Mew situation. Ray continues to be a disaster muffin, just maybe slight less than previous episodes (I really wished he had spoken to Mew upfront before kissing Sand in the music room, but I get it though…🤦🏻‍♀️). Anyway, I’m pleased to see Top eventually deciding against using the recording (but also, what’s with all the boys doing illegal recording in these show???? 😫), instead quietly just trying to prove to Mew with actions instead - he was a smooth operator with how he endeared himself to Mew’s moms 🤌🤌🤌🤌. And so, I was happy to see Mew finally admitting he still loves (and misses Top), wanting to give their relationship a second chance.

Also, some of my fav scenes were the RayMew conversations we had - the initial one in Mew's living room with their aborted makeout session when Mew could not go through with it. And while the conversation got heated, it highlights to them how unsuited they are as a couple with Mew still loving Top and can never see Ray beyond a friend. Similarly, their conversation outside the social service office was equally pleasing (and it penned out so differently the way I thought) - Both acknowledging their relationship was a farce - 1) Ray having loved Mew for so long didn’t want to miss a given opportunity, although as we know from the start [and now Ray finally clueing - his love for Mew is different with the love he has for Sand] 2) Mew knowingly use Ray to get revenge on Top.

I had to revisit the whole episode to get why Mew didn’t feel betrayed with the whole Sand/Ray situation - because on the surface, it does seem similar to what Top did to him. But I guess the biggest difference is that Mew loves Top as a partner (so the betrayal definitely hit harder) while he has never seen Ray as a lover (and as Mew pointed out, Ray never really hid his attraction and love for Sand).

Now that we have Boeing entering the radar again (hello Mond, looking as handsome as ever!!!), it will be interesting to see how the whole Top/Mew/Boeing (and Sand?) pens out.

Ray and Sand

I think this whole episode was Ray figuring out his feelings and where he stands with both Mew and Sand. We see a hint of it from episode 8, where the thought of Sand leaving made him panic (and on hindsight, I think that's why Ray suggested threesome THREE times now - the girl at the bar, Mr Freddie Mercury and Nick. I mean it seems funny at first, but I genuinely thinks its Ray way of saying - "if this is who Sand's like/seeing now, I don't care, as long as he continues to pay attention to me.") Although, with how possessive Ray is of Sand (and the way he clings to Sand during sleep), I don't think threesome is on the card for these two.

I must admit, each SandRay scene this episode was riveting - from the deliciously tense confrontation they had in the music room, where the emotions and frustration from both side tip over, resulting in the ill-advised kiss (I mean it was a great kiss, nobody can deny their chemistry here, 10/10 from me) - this was also the first instance Ray acknowledging he understands his feelings for Sand more. Unfortunately, Sand is fed up (and he is also very much aware Ray has yet to properly break up with Mew). BUT, I still wish Ray has spoken to Mew about his feelings for Sand before the whole kiss.

And when that was followed by Ray pursuing Sand in the middle of the country, driving for hours late at night, just so he can cuddle and seek comfort from Sand after arguing with Mew - yeah, I think that's when Sand possibly started to soften his already battered boundary and completely giving in.

Plus, them finally having an honest conversation about their feelings - with Sand admitting he really likes Ray (and vice versa) or Ray reciprocating by stating Sand was the last person in his mind when he thought he was going to die in the car crash....and well, we all know what followed suit (the whole camper van scene was beautifully shot, it's amazing to see the contrast of their first hook up where it was all lust and fire versus softness and absolute intimacy once they admit their feelings - anyway, good job boys!!!)

I am looking forward to see how they navigate their relationship now Mew is no longer in the picture and Ray likely heading towards rehab (also, we have yet to see the massive fight between SandRay that was shown in the MV/trailer...where Sand smashes his plum wine in frustration....nor the soft scene with both of them in the bathtub together - smoking and drinking)

Nick and Boston

Ah Nick - He wins MVP for this episode. His friendship with Sand is great to watch (Team Second Option for the WIN!!!) - from them just vibing out in the wood, to him suggesting a makeout session and then giggling that they feel nothing for each other and him being the fairy godfather to the whole SandRay situation…👌👌👌

Also, the whole conversation with Boston was raw and vulnerable (I can't believe I got emotional watching it!!! Over asshole Ton!). I mean, Nick is a weirdo (and slightly creepy) - this is a guy who masturbated on a client photo and wire-taping his FWB’s car. But, he genuinely loves Ton and when he had his farewell conversation with Ton, you can feel his sincerity for Ton (although, do they really have to do it in the toilet????).

I'm also happy to see Nick trying to move on with Dan (and who would have thought it was Nick who suggested Daddy to Dan?), although I think we can safely say if Ton ever wants to get back with Nick, Dan will likely be drop like a hot potato sack.

As for Ton, this episode is probably the first time we see a crack in his armour. He seems genuinely affected with Nick's farewell conversation (I mean the guy dropped his one-night stand and tried to chase after Nick, before realising Nick was with Dan - and wow, seeing Ton's eyes - is that some wistfulness? Maybe a hint of sadness??).

I'm also looking forward to see how the whole Nick/Ton situation pens out (from the episode 10 preview - we see Nick/Ton having some much needed one-to-one conversation with Ton finally acknowledging he is an asshole - as I say, we finally seeing some growth in the characters!!!!)

As usual, a jumble of emotions after watching this episode - my personal fav scenes include the Ray/Mew conversations (both in the living room and outside the social service office), Ray barging into SandNick cuddling session time (I cackled) and of course, the soft, intimate scene in the camper van (let's be honest, most of us FK stans out there is still probably living in that moment)
