I'm not sure if multiple requests are allowed (if not please feel free to ignore), but can I also request Lisa kink hcs?
Tumblr media
{☆} characters lisa minci {☆} notes drabble, hc's, gender neutral reader {☆} warnings 18+ content, drugging (consensual)
{☆} pet play
lisa adores breaking in brats just as much as she loves obedient pups– either works for her, really, but seeing you on your knees with a collar and a leash around your throat..oh it gets her going. she won't even let you talk unless you need to stop– dogs don't speak, after all. if you've been really bad she has no problem muzzling you, too. hearing your panting and whining muffled by the leather as she constantly edges you, pushing you to the edge just to pull you back..it's her favorite part. if you've been bad, anyway. if you were a good pup, she might just overstimulate you instead, see how many times you can cum before those pretty eyes of yours roll back.
{☆} bondage
bit of an expected answer but she definitely enjoys every aspect of it. she certainly doesn't mind coming home to you already restrained, but theres something especially intimate about doing it herself. it let's her tease you, too, making sure the restraints aren't too tight by making you instinctively tug on them when she suddenly touches you or moans in your ear..shes not opposed to being restrained, either, don't get her wrong. leather, ropes, silks..she's got something for every occasion. just be careful to choose something she can't squirm her way out of, because she's surprisingly flexible, and she might just turn the tables on you mid session.
{☆} aphrodisiacs
i mean. this is pretty self explanatory. her passive literally helps with potion making, she's absolutely made something of this variety before. whoever takes it depends on the mood– sometimes it's just one of you, sometimes it's both. she just loves seeing you so needy and warm, barely able to keep your hands to yourself. when it's just her taking it, it's more of a means of..relaxation. no stress, no worries, just being taken care of by you for a bit where she can turn her brain off and enjoy it. but her favorite is when you both take it– let's you both just..let loose and fuck like rabbits for a bit, get out a bit of pent up energy. especially if you haven't seen each other for a while. if you thought she was insatiable on a good day, it's so much worse now.

What is Love?
Picking Yuuji up from school was not a rare occurrence. On the other hand, picking Yuuji up from school while accompanied by Sukuna was a rare occurrence.
Kids are flocking to you like birds, asking if you were Yuuji's mom, and who that creepy man next to you was — this all reminded said creepy man about why this was a rare occurrence, and how it should stay one.
The final straw for Sukuna snaps when a little boy, probably around Yuuji's age, approaches you with his hands behind his back. "Hi, you are very pretty. Can I be your boyfriend?"
You looked a bit taken aback, before remembering this was a kid talking to you, and kids could be quite . . . odd. "Um, thank you! You are very sweet, but, I already have a boyfriend."
Sukuna smirks to himself, a smug expression painted on his face.
"That's okay. I have two girlfriends; you can have two boyfriends," the kid giggled. "He doesn't have to know."
At this, Sukuna glares at the little boy, fully prepared and ready to beat him up, but he halted, as you placed a coaxing hand on his arm.
"Umm—"
"Here!" The boy shoved a daffodil into your hands, it was covered in dirt and had a few missing pedals.
"Oh! This is—"
"I picked it up from over there," he pointed a little finger across the school. "It's pretty. And you're pretty. So it's for you! Hehe, pretty flower for pretty lady."
Just then, Yuuji came running out of the school's doors — backpack aggressively shaking and threatening to fall off of his little arms — and into your arms, well . . . legs actually. But he demanded to be in your arms.
"Up! Up!"
"Okay, Yuuji." You hoisted him up and he immediately went to bury his face into your neck, calming down from his hyper-ness when he breathed in your perfume.
"How was school, baby?"
"It was so fun! I missed you though." You felt Yuuji frown in your neck.
"Aww, well I'm here now. Let's go home, kay? Then we can make up for the time you missed me, how about that?" You rubbed Yuuji's back.
"Okay!"
Unfortunately for the other boy that was still staring up at you — and now Yuuji, too — he was long forgotten by you. Your full attention now on Yuuji.
When the pink-haired kid is finally in the car, after wrestling to not be strapped down by the seatbelt, he immediately goes to working on an assignment. Strange, you thought, looking back at him through the rear-view mirror. Yuuji hates homework.
This continues when you three get back to the apartment. Yuuji immediately slips off his shoes and takes off to his bedroom, assignment and pencil pouch in hand.
You turn to looked at Sukuna, "I thought he wanted to play first?"
Sukuna shrugged, not knowing what his brother was up to, "He's a weirdo, you know that."
You frowned, "I'm bored."
"I know a way to pass the time."
An hour later, you exit your shared bedroom — planning to start on dinner — just to find notes and drawings all over the apartment. On the floor, in the potted plants, on the coffee table, shoved in crevices on the couch, everywhere.
Picking up a few piece of paper, you find yourself reading:
"Deer Y/N,
You are so nise to me.
You are very good at macking food.
I love you!"
"You are so amazing!"
"I love you so mutch!"
"Y/N is good and nise and prety."
Some drawings even depicted you and Yuuji holding hands.
While eating dinner, you decided to question a very smiley and giggling Yuuji, to find out that he had an assignment to show his appreciation to someone he loved.
Most of the notes were only directed to you, but some of the drawings had Sukuna too. The rest of the evening, Yuuji spent telling you and Sukuna how much he loved you guys. Quietly, and going unnoticed by Yuuji and you, Sukuna reciprocated his brother's affection.
A/N: loosely based on this ask — this was supposed to be wayyyy shorter, but i got a bit carried away

Loved by the hashiras- part 2
The first meet-up
Ok so part 2 is finaly here, it took me a while to come up with something, and i cant realy fit all the ideas in here so there will be a part 3 and 4 . Also read part one if you havent already, this was all a request by the lovely @danielle-marie ! Ok lets get to it.
Tumblr media
This is it. You have made it to the headquarters where you will now meet your new colleagues. The infamous Hashiras.
You have always dreamed of meeting them and working alongside them, slaying and fighting demons with them. Looking down to your right you saw Kiriya looking right at you. Waiting for your approval and response. And with one last look into his eyes, you nodded your head for him to open the door.
A bright light shining into your eyes. It was a beautiful place. Filled with the greenest trees and clearest lake that had looked like a little swamp for frogs and little birds. And there they were.
The 9 Hashiras and their master sitting before them. Oh, now you were nervous. They were looking at you! Oh lord, this is so embarrassing.
‘Welcome back.’ said a purple haired Hashira. She had a butterfly clip in her hair and the haori she wore resembled a butterfly.
‘ Now let's not get too excited. Welcome to the headquarters (Y/n). We are delighted to meet you.’ said a man who you had guessed was Ubayashiki.
You had instantly bowed down onto your knees before him ‘Thank you so much for this opportunity master! I will always try to do my best as a Hashira’ your voice was uneven from the nervousness.
‘ Its quite alright (Y/n), you were chosen by me after all. I thought about all of this for a while, you know? You are going to be the star Hashira. I have a house located for you just outside the headquarters, all your belongings are in there along with some food and furniture. It should be comfortable.’
‘ Oh that’s really lovely of you to do master!’ he chuckled at that before standing up.
‘ Now if you would like to meet your new colleagues I will give you plenty of time to.’
‘Thank you master!’ and with that Kiriya and Kanata escorted him away, leaving you with pure anxiety.
‘ Well that was one flashy entrance must I say! Quite exquisite!’ slowly turning around you to see who said those words you saw a big, tall man with white hair staring down at you. His big muscles and biceps leaned you to believe you were very tiny. Even though your form was alright.
‘ I completely agree with you Tengen, she is very beautiful! I can see her helping me out in a mission or maybe even on something else’ said a man with red and yellow hair. Oh wow this made you blush.
‘Don’t flirt with her dipshits, you're making her feel embarrassed. Introduce yourself first! Besides don’t you have 3 wives already Tengen? ‘the man who said that had scars on his chest and short gray hair.
‘ A fourth one wouldn’t be much of a trouble; I would spoil her day and night! My name is Tengen Uzui, your future soon-to-be flashy husband!’ he stopped and kissed the back of your hand. Yep now you were feeling very dizzy.
‘ I'm (Y/n) (L/n) nice too meet you I guess. But im not looking for a lover right now! But thanks for the offer tough I wish we can all just be very good friends!’
Everyone's smile twitched a bit at your sentence, poor you just wanted to be friendly, what did you do!?
‘Well you must be tired aren't you (Y/n) ? I bet all that walking did a number on you!’ said a pretty lady with pink and green hair. ‘ I'm Mitsuri, the love pillar, it's quite nice to meet you. If you'd like I can lead you to your house!’
‘ Oh that would be very lovely, thank you!’
‘ Um may I come with you please, id like to meet our new colleague’ this time it was a heterochromatic- eyed boy with masks on his face and the cutest snake you had ever seen.
You always loved serpents and reptiles like snakes, frogs, worms and lizards, especially lizards. You had begged your parents since you were young for a lizard pet, and finally, they bought one for your birthday.
A small blue tounge skink, you had him for 7 years now. You had sometimes taken him onto missions, hiding him in your haori. You had named him after your late brother Chikako.
‘ Oh of course you can come, what's your name?’
‘ Im Iguro the serpent pillar, nice to meet you (Y/n). And this little guy is Kaburamaru.’
‘He's realy cute!’ you went on to pet the snake, it had licked your hand and leaned more into you.
‘He likes you a lot.’ Iguro said with a slight blush.
‘ Let's get going before the dark falls, wouldn’t want any troubles on the way.’
Right after Mitsuri had said that you began walking to your new home. It was maybe 10 minutes of walking into the woods, the house being very pretty, surrounded by wisteria trees and pretty bushes.
Making it into your house you saw it had a beautiful décor inside, and on the table was the tree where Chikako was sleeping.
‘Oh my baby, thank God you're okay.’
‘You also like serpents?!’ Iguro asked with a big blush.
‘I love them very much; they all remind me of family and friends.’
After some time Mitsuri and Iguro had to go back, but in the last minute, Mitsuri gave something to you.
‘Have some Sakura mochi (Y/n), they are my favorite!’ Mitsuri said with hearts in her eyes.
‘Thank you so much Mitsuri, I will be sure to enjoy them!’ and with that you had separated, closing the door with a sleepy sigh, walking to your bed. Not even bothering to shower as you go into your dreams.

(for context I'm using my listener for this fic but if you do want me to do some y/n fics then use the ask box thanks and yes I color-coded it for whoever spoke in this story, btw my oc Hana uses they/she pronouns so I hope you all enjoy this one a - Paris 💗)
3 souls make one (725 words)
Hana was rollerskating to Alphonse's shop to get mamba and of course some strawberry pocky
They made it to the door and knocked, Alphonse walked to the door and opened it with joy as he held their hand.
“Hey boo, you made it! you're hella early for our sleepover but Seth just got from his dad’s bar, he’s just setting the pillow fort up for the third time”
“ Really, well you texted me when I just got done getting ready and yes you don't need to ask   to make cinnamon rolls but as you probably know you are ordering dinner for us this time.”
“Aw, why me?”
“ Boy, mustn’t we forget who got it last time… yeah me”
While the two love birds laughed and talked Seth walked downstairs to the store to greet them both, he walked over to Alphonse and plucked his forehead as a joke from when they were kids
Which made Seth feel a little taller when he did it to him, and he made this smug little face too you know that face that said ‘I just bitched you out in front of them so what’s up’ So of course the two girls are fighting and it’s Hana's job to be the peacemaker of the group.
 “ alright alright chill out man it’s just for laughs, anyways hey Sugar how ya been?”
“ stressed, it's almost Easter and spring break just started and all of the town is going crazy on ordering hot cross buns and now I'm just ready with my comfy clothes on and hanging out with my two pretty boys.”
They both nod as she gets her roller-skates off as our trio walks upstairs to see the pillow fort from Christmas, Hana heads straight first for the fridge for ingredients to make cinnamon rolls, which makes the boys happy to help as Alphonse grabbed his hot pink speaker and Seth tied his hair up in a ponytail and the two got to work on the rolls as Alphonse danced to monster by lady gaga for the at least the 14th time this week, ever since Seth moved in three of them shared a playlist.
“ Really Al, this song again? This is like the 200th time you played this whenever Sugar comes over to hang out”
“Oh spare me country boy all you know is Dolly Parton and Nickelback or whatever you rednecks listen down there in dumb ol’ stupid Texas”
“Sugar come get your man before I kick his ass to Texas and I mean it this time”
Hana laughed as she put the cinnamon rolls in the oven and walks over to Seth and taps him on his back like a sitcom father would do to his kid or something like that, back in the pillow fort Alphonse was setting up a movie but Seth was AGAIN fighting with Al over what movie to pick so you all agree on the film ‘the sandlot’ which was Hana’s childhood favorite (because they had a massive crush on benny) after the film was coming to close finish Seth was staring at her and Al as Hana and he laughed Seth softly touched both of their hands only Alphonse noticed it.
“ Hey Seth, um…what’s wrong, are you not liking the movie or…?”
“No no, it’s just the fort. It's giving me memories of our first fort with the sugar cookies and the tears… I’m just happier where I am at the moment ya know?”
“Ah, I see, so are you feeling better about yourself now?”
“Yeah to sum it all up I feel like a new person with you guys lately”
“Aww Seth stop beating yourself up we love you ya silly little country boy”
“ Yeah, she’s right about that one you two mean so much to me”
“ Okay, you two, let's not start the waterworks in this fort again, please?
As our beloved trio dozed off asleep Alphonse kissed Hana’s and Seth’s foreheads
And covered them in blankets and stared at the window with a cup of tea in his hand it was midnight he sighed as a wave of peace washed over him as he finished his cup and put it in the sink he walked and crawled his way back into the fort and got on the left side of Hana's warm body Seth was cuddling her like when they were in the old apartment and all that was left in the fort that was untouched was left a half-finished box of strawberry pocky.

She isn’t sure why she says it.
Maybe out of pure curiosity - because it’s just the first name that pops into her head, for some reason.
But a name pierces the eerie quiet of the strange in-between dimension, a place that looks like a Demon Realm-style fun house on steroids. Dark liquid lapping against the wildly-twisting, greenish walls is the only sound here other than a human girl’s breathing.
“Philip Wittebane.”
The moment the name leaves her tongue Luz Noceda realizes she should probably check on her mother. Wasn’t that the whole point of this in the first place? But before she gets a chance to correct herself, a cube slowly floats out of the dark liquid around her, as though simply appearing for her is a difficult task. For a few moments it simply hovers there, it’s sides dripping black goo.
Then the side closest to her turns shiny and gold. Her heart rate increasing, the girl moves forward to take it - and then stops. What if it’s just his coffin, or something? Certainly Philip Wittebane would be long dead by now if he’d written his journal back in the 1600s.
But curiosity once again triumphs over doubt and Luz takes the cube in her hands. The worst that could happen is I see a skeleton, she thinks. Big deal. I’ve seen skeletons before.
Unlike the cube that showed her King, Eda, and Hooty, it takes a moment of her holding it for the thing to flash white and transfer her into a reflection. She finds herself holding her breath, and when the cube finally responds to her touch, the girl is caught off-guard and nearly drops it, severing the connection.
Luz is able to hold on, however, and she blinks as things come into focus around her. She is in the reflection of a glass picture frame. It’s holding up some painting of a black spider and a little red bird, she thinks, but her face is so close to the parchment she can’t tell for sure.
She turns her attention to the room around her, and chokes back a gasp at the most notable feature - a large, circular ring with white-and-gold wings splayed at its sides. It vaguely resembles Hunter’s staff, but that isn’t the most worrying part - it’s being constructed around the portal door, which was supposed to be destroyed. Worst of all, it looks nearly completed.
Luz covers her mouth and ducks to the bottom of the reflection as something moves in the dark - an old man with dirty blonde hair, dull blue eyes, and a dark green scar on his face. He’s wearing robes typical of the Emperor’s Coven, but she doesn’t recognize him-
Wait.
Is that Emperor Belos? Without his mask? Luz never thought she’d actually see him like this. He looks... like a sad old man. The girl frowns, but then the impact of what this means hits her full-force and her eyes widen in pure shock. She had said Philip’s name.
“NO,” she says aloud. “NO WAY.”
Belos stiffens and spins around, his eyes narrowing. They dart to his mask, which is laying next to a closed book a few feet away from him. “Who’s there?” he demands. “Spying on the emperor is an offense punishable by death.”
Luz drops the cube out of pure reflex, severing her connection to the castle. It begins to sink back into the goo, but she lets out a yelp and grabs it again.
“No, bad cube,” she scolds. “I still need your help.” Luz loosens her hold on it, but it doesn’t light up again. “Hey, come on, go back to the castle,” she says. “Please?”
The cube doesn’t respond. She shakes it. Still nothing. “Let me see Emperor Belos again! Come on, cube!” But the cube doesn’t listen. Luz grunts in frustration.
“You’re on a mission, Luz. Focus.” Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, the girl does just that.
“Show me Philip Wittebane.”
It still kind of shocks her that it works; but it does, and Luz finds herself in the reflection of the eye on the door. Staring straight at Emperor Belos.
Both sides let out identical exclamations of surprise, and for the fourth time in the past half an hour, Luz almost drops the godforsaken cube. She hisses “mierda” under her breath before she can stop herself, and is surprised to hear Belos use a profanity of his own that she easily recognizes as from the Human Realm.
The two stare at each other for a moment, and Luz takes another few moments to look at Belos’s face. He really does seem like a sad, old man, even more so up close. His blue eyes have no shine in them, and his hair is in desperate need of a good combing through. She can only see one of his ears, but it’s noticeably smaller than any other witches’ she’s seen so far and has a nick in it, and a disturbing thought occurs to her that she quickly pushes aside.
Heavy bags under his eyes - even more noticeable than the Golden Guard’s - are also present, but the most horrifying part of his face is the strange green scar. Luz doesn’t know what it’s from, but it doesn’t look like anything from the Human Realm.
“Surprised?” she asks, summoning up every ounce of strength that she can. Belos can’t hurt her where she is right now, she’s pretty sure. Even if he destroyed the reflection, it would be destroying the door, and she’s fairly certain that that would only sever the connection again, not actually kill her. He takes a step back with a grimace.
“The Owl Lady’s human pet,” the emperor practically snarls, and Luz flinches. “Guess it was only a matter of time before you tapped into this as well.”
Luz has no idea what he means, but she holds her ground. “Yeah, well, it’s a lot easier when your notes are helping me with it,” she replies. “You are Philip Wittebane, aren’t you?” Her voice trembles for some reason. Now is not the time to get excited about a potentially very dramatic backstory, she mentally tells herself.
Even if you really, really, really want to hear everything about it and take notes.
It’s Belos’ turn to wince, and he reaches for his mask. “You got ahold of my journal?” he asks in a voice that sounds more surprised than resentful.
“It was in the library for a reason,” Luz neglects to mention the paper dragon and the Forbidden Stacks and Amity-
No, Luz. Focus. “But, um, yes.”
A dry laugh escapes the emperor’s throat. “I assumed no one was going to let a human into the Forbidden Stacks.”
Luz blinks, the puzzle pieces in her mind still not quite fitting together. “But if you’re Philip Wittebane, then doesn’t that make you human, too?” She is pretty sure that was right, but with her brain still kind of frazzled by the fact that Philip and Belos were the same person, she might’ve forgotten how the laws of nature worked.
Belos chuckles again, this more sharp and harsh. Luz backs up, but with holding the cube in her hands she doesn’t get any further away from him. He puts the mask on and turns away. “I’m hardly human anymore.”
This is an interesting development. “Ooh, is this like from the Henry Pottery books? If you drink unicorn blood, you’re immortal, but also-”
“This is nothing like that.”
“Oh.” Luz frowns. “Could you tell me what it actually is, then?”
Belos whirls around, uncomfortably close to the door’s reflection. “No.”
Luz let’s out a yelp and the cube shatters in her hands. “Crap,” she says, trying to take the pieces and put them back together. Apparently he did get mad enough to break the door. With a deep inhale, the girl tries to steady herself.
Remember, Luz, she tells herself mentally. You’re on a mission to contact your mom. Worry about what just happened once you tell her what’s going on. She’s still freaking out a little, but the girl breathes a few times and promises herself she’ll look into the Philip-Belos mystery once this is over and taken care of. She opens her eyes again.
“Camila Noceda.”

The best of friends pt3
Peter Parker x Stark!reader
Summary: So it turns out that you do have other friends. Who would’ve guessed?
A/n: Hello! So.. because i don’t feel like writing the whole fight scene, the events of homecoming already happened before the actual dance and Liz is moving after the school year ends.
Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Am I dreaming or is that you Jason Todd?”
“Yeah its me, don’t cream your pants.”
You laugh, running to embrace your friend, and he catches you spinning you around then putting you down.
“What are you doing here?” You ask breathlessly, “Doesn’t your dad hate leaving Gotham?”
“Well he had a meeting with your dad today, so we made him bring us.”
“Ohh, so that’s the meeting dad didn’t want to go to” You think.
“You’re brothers are here?” You look around for the boys, but not seeing any.
Jason laughs, “Just Tim and Damian, I kind of ditched them at the Tower, I think I would’ve gone crazy if I stayed another second.”
“Aw, were you expecting me to be there?” You tease, grinning wide as the boy turned a light shade of red.
“Oh please, if you were there I think I’d die of boredom” He teases back, a matching grin growing on his face. But before you can answer back you hear Mj shout at you.
“Y/n! Are you gonna keep flirting or can we go on some rides?”
“Yeah Iron baby, are you gonna keep flirting?”
You roll your eyes at the nickname, despite your protests you know he’s not going to stop calling you that.
“Hey you’re not here with anyone are you?” “Um no why?”
You grab his hand and pull him towards Mj and Ned, who were looking at the both of you in shock.
“You’re Jason Todd..” Ned says, surprised to see him here.
“Uh..hi” Jason responds, not knowing what to say.
“Jay and I are friends” You say, “ We hang out at the galas and judge people.”
Jason laughs, “That is not what we do.”
“Oh? So then why do you mean mug people from the corner of the room?”
Mj and Ned make eye contact, having a silent conversation as you and Jason banter.
“So, you’re one of Y/n’s ‘friends that don’t live in the city’?” Mj asks, eyeing Jason and you.
He slings and arm on your shoulders, “ Is that what you call us Y/n?” He turns to Mj to respond but before he can answer Peter and Liz finally make an appearance.
“Oh so you two finally decided to grace us with your presence?” Mj drawls
“Sorry guys, I really wanted this Spiderman plush and Peter was trying to win it for me” Liz says with a giggle. Peter blushes, not taking his eyes off Liz.
You frown at the sight. Frustration growing in your head, this was supposed to be your day with Peter. And now it was ruined.
“You spent over an hour trying to win a little doll?” You said bitterly, making everyone stare at you.
“Ah come on iron baby, we all know those games are rigged.” Jason says from beside you. You tear your eyes away from Peter and Liz, “Rigged or not, I bet I can win a prize before you, Jay-Bird”
“Oh is that a bet?” “Um yeah, I literally just said that.” “Okay fine!”
Then you and Jason are off, running towards the nearest booth that gives out prizes.
“Umm, who was that?” Peter asking, looking in the direction you ran off.
“That was Jason Todd” Liz responds, “ You know, Bruce Wayne's son.”
“What was he doing with his arm around Y/n?” he asks with a frown.
“Well apparently they’re friends, he just showed up. We didn’t even notice him until we saw him spinning Y/n around like a washing machine.” Ned says with a laugh.
“What, so they’re like...close?” Peter asks. Mj and Ned look at each other.
“Um I guess...” Ned says hesitantly.
“Well, I for one, haven’t heard Y/n talk as much as she has been now.” Mj says, a knowing look on her face. Peter made a face, not understanding what Mj was talking about.
“That's true” Liz adds in, “She’s pretty quiet, it’s kinda weird.”
“Well to be fair you two haven’t been exactly talking to her.” Ned defending you, “ She opened up quite a bit after she got comfortable.”
“Yeah, besides, Peter is the one who she knows the best, I wouldn’t be comfortable hanging out with people I just met.” Mj says, glancing at Peter.
Peter didn’t know how to feel. At first he was psyched to be spending time alone with Liz. He didn’t even think about how you would feel when he invited her and his friends on your shopping day. This whole day he was trying to get closer to Liz, he forgot that you hardly knew Ned and Mj.  But it was okay, you gained two new friends, and now Peter has a chance with Liz.
He looked at Liz,
“She looks so pretty” He thinks, but deep in his mind, a voice kept bringing up an image of your face.
“Oh shoot” Liz says, “ Hey guys, my mom is here to pick me up.”
“I’ll walk you to the car!” Peter shouts, startling Mj and Ned.
‘Okay thanks Pete!” Liz says, wrapping an arm around his. Peter turns back to Ned and Mj with a grin.
Ned winks back and Mj just rolls her eyes, going to find you and Jason.
As Peter and Liz walk, he starts to get nervous. This whole day he has been alone with her, but now...now he has to leave an impression.
“I had a lot-” “It was really coo-”
The two laugh
“You go first” Peter says.
“It was really cool of you to invite me, I had a great time.” Liz says with a smile. Peter grins, happy that she had a good time with him. and his friends.
“Yeah? I’m glad, I had fun too.”
They finally make it to the parking lot where Liz’s mother is waiting.  Liz’s face suddenly looks nervous.
“Hey Peter,” Liz turns to Peter, “ Do you have a date to homecoming?”
Peters breath hitches, “Um..no-no why?”
“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me?”
He...he isn’t as excited as he thought he’d be. In fact, this was kind of anti-climatic.
“Y-yeah, of course!” Peter says forcing enthusiasm.  Liz’s face brightens and she smiles, pulling Peter into a hug.
“Awesome! I’ll text you with the details later?” She asks, pulling away to get into the car.
“That sounds great” Then without warning, Liz grabs Peters face and gives him a quick peck.
“I’ll see you later Peter Parker.” and with that, she hopped into her mom's car and drove away. Peter stood there, hand on his mouth looking at the spot Liz stood.
For some reason..he didn’t feel as happy as he should’ve.
“What is wrong with me?” He asked himself. He shakes his head and turns around. Ready to walk back to where he last saw his friends.
Turns out, they were all at a booth near the parking lot. And saw the whole thing.
“Dude!” Ned said running up to Peter, “Liz Allen just kissed you! You’re going to HOMECOMING with Liz Allen!”
“Yeah..I am” Peter says, forcing excitement for his friend,” I can’t believe it.”
“Dude! You’ve been pining over her for YEARS! “ Ned shouts, “ You did it!”
Meanwhile, Mj is rubbing your arm in comfort as you hold back tears. You saw everything. Peter really didn’t like you the way you thought. You felt defeated, betrayed even. All those moments...they meant nothing to him.  Every moment you held close to your heart.
“Hey, are you alright Y/n?” Jason whispers, sensing your sadness.
“um..no not really...” you whisper back, feeling a tear run down your face. Jason wipes it away before you could.
“Hey, come on lets get you something to drink.” He pulls you away from Mj with a nod. But before he could get far, Peter called out
“Y/n..are you okay?”
You don’t say anything, your back turned to him so he doesn’t see your face.
“She’s not feeling too hot, I’m gonna get some water and food in her, see if she perks up” Jason responded for you, wrapping an arm around your shoulder.
Peter looks at the arm, “I can do that” He steps closer to you but before he can touch you, you speak up.
“Don’t touch me, I want Jay to take me.”
And with that, Jason adjusts his grip on you and walks you to a food truck. Leaving behind a disheartened Peter.
You sit on a bench as Jason orders you some food. Alone, you’re able to gather your thoughts and think about what just happened.
“Did Peter really not like me? If he didn’t why did he act so flirty with me?”
It made you mad. It wasn’t fair that he made you feel special then dropped you as soon as someone else came along. He ignores you all day for her, then acts innocent? Screw that.
“Here you go, one greasy ass burger and a bottle of water. We dine like true kings.”
Jason plops down next to you, “So are you gonna tell me whats wrong or what?”
You scoff, “ Wow, you sure have a way with the ladies.”
“Whatever.” the raven haired boy rolls his eyes, “ So what’s up? Is it that Peter kid?”
You sigh and explain everything. From when you first met Peter to now. After you were done, Jason stayed quiet. Digesting what you just told him and trying to find the right words to say.
“Fuck him.” He says simply.
“What?” You say surprised at his comment.
“Fuck. Him” He repeats looking you in the eye, “ Why are you going to waste your time on someone who doesn’t want you? It’s his lose anyway.”
You stay quiet, not exactly knowing how to respond.
Two of you eat in silence, watching parents run after their children, and take in the atmosphere.
“Hey.. we never did finish our bet.” Jason says, standing up.
You look up at him, a small smile forming on your face. “No, I guess we didn’t.”
“Well come on, I don’t have all day.” He holds out his hand, refusing to look at you. You take it, interlocking your fingers.
You walk in silence, faces red but its comforting. It was nice to see this side of Jason. When the two of you see each other, you both have a this fake persona for the media. You couldn’t truly show who you really were. You only caught glimpses of each others true self when you’d sneak away from the crowds. You both hated those stupid galas Bruce threw. Your dad would force you to go so he wouldn’t be alone, and Jason had to go as Bruce Waynes son.
A match made in heaven.
“Here we are.” Jason says, releasing your hand. “Ready to get your ass handed to you?”
“Oh you wish Todd.”You scoff, walking up to the man running the booth.
“Hello little lady, three bucks for a three chances.”
You hand him the money and get the balls. It seemed simple enough, toss the balls, knock down the clowns, win the prize.
You wind your arm back, and throw the ball with all your might. You end up knocking down two out of the five clowns down. You go again, getting the other three.v
“You got a good aim little miss. What can I get for ya?”
“The Iron man please.” You hear Jason scoff from his place behind you, “ Oh, is someone a little salty he lost the bet?”
“Whatever princess, it was pure luck.”
“Luck? or years of training with an expert marksman?” You say referring to the times you trained with Clint.
“Whatever.” He says rolling his eyes.
“Aw come on Jay bird, don’t be so salty.” You coo, “ Here, something to remember me by.” You hand him the Iron man with a smirk.  He takes it with a sigh, trying to hide the smile forming on his face.
“Yeah yeah, come on let's go play that booth with the balloons.” He takes your hand, dragging you to the booth.
It turns out to be a game with water guns. You both race to make the balloon pop. Jason wins at this game
“Ha” He says turning to you with a smirk. “ Aw, come on Princess, don’t be so salty.” He turns to attendant “ yeah can i have the Red Hood, thanks”
He hands you the Red Hood doll, “ Here, something to remember me by”
You roll your eyes, “ Don’t you use my words against me.” You take the doll, looking it over, “ Hey, why the Red Hood?”
Jason freezes, as you caught him in a lie or something. “Uhh, cause...he’s from Gotham, and so am I...”
You squint at him, finding his response weird, “Um, okay?”
He looks relieved with your acceptance. Weird.
He takes your hand again and you both walk around, catching up on stuff you’ve missed in the months you haven't seen each other. While you were talking, you could’ve sworn you saw a flash of light from the corner of your eye.
Oh well.
“Hey guys, over here.”
You both turn to see Ned and Peter.
“Hey, where’s Mj?” You ask as the two boys walk up to you and Jason.
“She had to leave, her dad picked her up a few minutes ago.” Ned replied, “We were coming to look for you guys.”
“Oh, are you ready to go?” You asked, “ Is anyone picking you up Ned?”
“Nah I’m spending the night at Peters, we’re gonna watch Star Wars.” He says excitedly.
Jason snorts, and you elbow him in the stomach, “ I happen to like Star Wars very much. And even if I didn’t, don’t be a dick to my friends.”
“Sorry man, you just reminded me of my...brother, Tim. Sounds like something he’d like.” Jason says apologetically.
“I’m friends with Y/n Stark..” Ned whispered.
Peter was quiet, he hasn’t said a word since he saw you and Jason laughing together. His mood worsened when he saw your intertwined hands.
“So, you’re feeling better.” Peter states, avoiding your eyes.
“Um, yeah...guess I just needed some food in me.” You mutter. An awkward silence coming over the group.
“Hey are we going to ride the subway? It sucks going on there at night.” Ned says breaking the silence.
“Is it? I know I hated walking around at night back home.” Jason says with a frown.
“Yeah man, my mom had to work late one night and she said she saw two homeless people getting it on.”
The four of you cringe at the thought.
“I’ll call Happy” You say pulling out your phone. You walk away, letting go of Jason's hand.
The three boys are left alone, not exactly knowing what to say to each other.
“So...how do you know Y/n?” Ned asks
“Oh uh” Jason goes to say how he knows you when he stops, he noticed how Peter’s mood seemed to worsen when he saw him with you.
“Me and Y/n ditch galas together.” He says, “ We sneak into my room and...play games.”
Peters face darkens, “Play games?”
“Yeah, you know”
“No. I don’t.”
“Interesting..” Jason thinks to himself
“Like poker and shit”He replies, “ She’s shit at it, but i like seeing her get all happy when she wins so I let her.”
Peter smiles, knowing how happy you get when you win at games. Then frowns, knowing that Jason has seen you the same way he has.
“Hey, whos that?” Ned asks, “ He’s been looking at Y/N for a while now.”
Peter and Jason whip their head towards where Ned was pointing. Low and behold, there was a guy staring at you. You, too busy on your call with Happy, weren’t paying attention to your surroundings.
The guy looked like a creep. His eyes roaming your body as if you were a piece of meat. It was disgusting.  But before Peter could do anything, Jason was already striding towards you.
Now, Peter was strong, but he wasn’t too intimidating out of his suit. But jason? Jason was massive, even for an eighteen year old. He was tall, very well built, and just had this dark aura around him.
Peter didn’t like him.
Meanwhile, you were chatting to Happy about the where you were, apologizing for calling him so last minutes.
“Thanks so much Happy, I’ll see you right now.”
“Yeah yeah.” He hangs up. You chuckle putting your phone back into your purse. Looking up you see Jason striding towards you.
“Hey i just-” He cuts you off, harshly slamming his arm above your head and leaning in close.
“Theres a man staring at you.” He whispers, “ Right over there.”
You follow his gaze, seeing the man who has a frightened expression. Jason was sending a death glare his way that could have frightened Batman himself. The man scurries off without a second glance.
Jason gently thumps you on the back of your head, “See what happens when you stand there like a space cadet.”
‘Oh..I was?”
Peter and Ned walk up to the two of you
“Y/n, you have to be more aware when you’re by yourself.” Peter scolds.
“He’s right, or its going to be your own damn fault when someone kidnaps you.”
“Oh right.” You say standing up straight and alert. Jason rolls his eyes.
“We said when you’re alone.” “Right.” you say still alert.
“You don’t have to worry about it when you’re with me, you can space out whenever you want.”
“Oh? You gonna protect me Jay-bird?”
Jason just smiles, not responding as he looks away from your face.
“So, is Happy coming or what?” Peter asks rudely, taking you by surprise. He’s never talked to you like that before.
“Um..yeah he’s on his way.” You respond, “ He should be here in a few minutes.”
Peter nods. Yet another uncomfortable silence falls on the group.
You start walking to the entrance, and without a word the boys follow you.
You don’t get it, first Peter ignores you all day and now he’s mad at you? What the hell is he playing at?
“So I’m assuming you’re staying at the Tower?” You ask Jason, “ Your dad would be blowing up your phone if you weren’t.”
“I turned it off” Jason says with a smirk, “ I’m sure they’ll be alright.”
You laugh at his antics, knowing that he’s gonna get an earful when he gets back. Then. from the corner of your eye, you see Peter roll his eyes and glare at Jason.  Ugh, what a weird day.
Finally Happy, shows up. You pile into the car, a tight fit with all four of you, but you make it work.
The tension in the car is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Happy doesn’t even make any comments, he just drives to Peter’s house to drop him and Ned off. As soon as he gets there, he jumps off the car as if something bit him. Going into the building without a goodbye. Ned just awkwardly smiles and says bye, then follows Peter into the apartment.
“Okay...That was weird.” Happy says, “What happened? Usually the kid won’t shut up.”
“I have no idea. He’s just being a dick I guess.” You respond sourly. Looking out the window, signaling that you were done with the conversation.
You finally get home, exhausted physically and emotionally. As you ride the elevator, you think about today's events. So much has happened today it makes your head spin. You were,’t even paying attention when you got to your floor, Jason having to nudge you to get you to move.
“Jason.”, you hear a deep voice rumble. You look up at the sound and giggle
“Looks like you’re in trouble Jay-bird.” “Shut up, please.”
You laugh again, “It’s lovely to see you again Mr. Wayne, are you staying at the Tower tonight?”
“Hello Y/n” Bruce says, “ It seems so, seeing as my son has been missing all day and we’ve missed our check in time.” He glares at Jason.
“Aw come on Bruce, we’ll all have a sleepover, bread each other’s hair and tell secrets” You dad says coming out of nowhere. He pecks the top of your head.
“Hey kid, how was it?”
“Ugh, don’t even get me started” You say rolling your eyes, “ How was the meeting?”
“Ugh don’t even get me started.” Then he turned to Jason, “ Hey, didn’t know you were a fan.”
You laugh, knowing he’s referring to the plush you won for him. “Where’s the rest of the boys?”
“Damian fell asleep and Tim is in your fathers lab tinkering.” Bruce responds, “ I was about to head to bed.”
“Oh me too, I’ve had quite the day.” You hug your dad, “ Night pops.”
Then you turn to Jason, “ I had fun today Jay, thanks. Good night Mr. Wayne.”
And with that, you walk off to your room, desperate to shower and sleep this day away.
“So, care to explain why your phone was shut off?”
Yikes, poor Jason.
What bliss, domesticity.
Tumblr media
for: @tink2kagome. i’m sorry it took me so long to work on ur pretty setter squad request T^T i’ll probably do like another one in the future!
  & @lady-tokugawa-of-mikawa @belpomme @chaichai-the-weeb for being such lovely mutuals <3 <3
Content warnings: rape/noncon; nsfw; yakuza/organized crime; gun mention; a lot of (non-sexual) food references in this one
  Jun’ichi Saikawa was obviously the kind of man who liked to laugh. Not unlike most people in their world. The kind who use their entire body when they do, announcing to the entire world with a bellowing “Ha Ha Ha!” how pleased they are with whatever’s going on in front of them.
  Which, in all honesty, was pretty admirable, that the old man could still do it considering how bored to tears Wataru was.
  That it’s a humid afternoon didn’t help either. He could feel the sweat on his back even when the doors were already slid open, exhibiting a verdant garden filled with blossoms and shrub peonies. From his place he could see the school of koi swirling in the shallow pond, their scales iridescent under the warm rays of the sun.
  “Didn’t know you were the funny sort, 'Kaashi!” Saikawa blurted out, the sake in his hand spilling to his fingers.
  This wasn’t Wataru’s first day on the job, but this is the first that he gets to do something this important. And with someone he highly respects, too.
  So he gave his collar a light tug, steeling himself to endure as he tucked his legs further beneath him, and resorted to thinking about the many things he would absolutely surrender just to lie down on the warm mat.
  His car, maybe.
  The brand new noise-cancelling headphones he bought, if pushed.
  Wataru saw Akaashi nod.
  “I appreciate a joke every now and then,” he said.
  The larger man laughed again.
  “Here, here!” Saikawa thundered, snatching a tiny, yellow box from the maid who appeared as swiftly as she’d left.
  “I heard you like sweets. Here,” he said, grinning as he handed it to Akaashi. “My youngest son just opened a cake shop. I know what you’re thinking, but who am I to say no, eh?”
  Akaashi passed the box to Wataru.
  “Mind it for me, please,” he whispered.
  How unexpected. Akaashi-san has a sweet tooth.
  Huh.
  That’s pretty neat. Wataru himself wasn’t partial to cakes, but he does love pudding.
  “You are a good father, Jun’ichi-san,” Akaashi told him.
  This time, Wataru didn’t bother suppressing a yawn as Saikawa fumbled for his phone, hiding it behind his hand as he stared at the birds chirping and hopping about outside.
  “Wanna see him? He’s much like you! Good head on his shoulders, that one.”
  “I am honored, Jun’ichi-san,” Akaashi echoed back, peering down at the photos Saikawa showed him.
  “He sends me a lot of these- uh,” Saikawa snorted, his nose reddened by the alcohol. “What do young people call it, the- pictures-”
  “Selfies?” Akaashi politely supplied.
  “That’s the one! Look. Precious, ain’t he?”
  His earpiece crackled to life.
  Konoha’s voice emerged from the static.
  “We’re ready when you are,” his senior murmured. “Man, this is taking too long. Let’s get some burgers when we’re done.”
  “Akaashi-san,” Wataru croaked, feeling his cheeks heat up as he continued, “K-Komi-san and the others are waiting for you.”
  Saikawa perked up. “Ah, of course! Of course!”
  He stumbled when he attempted to stand up. Akaashi was quick on his feet to assist him.
  “I knew I could count on you, son,” he muttered, patting Akaashi’s back. “Now, you tell Bokuto that what happened between us- it’s all in the past! All in the past! And if those bastards mess with him again, you tell him to run to old Jun’ichi!”
  Akaashi clasped Saikawa’s hand.
  “Thank you,” Akaashi said. “I’ll be sure to relay your sentiments to Bokuto-san.”
  “You do that, my boy.” Saikawa’s belly shook as he laughed. “Your generation’s a smart one, indeed. The in-fighting and wars, bah! All that trouble for nothing; that’s not your style. Your lot’s the future now!”
  Then, Akaashi stepped a few meters back and bowed.
  Wataru followed behind him.
  “We will be taking our leave,” Akaashi said. “It has been an illuminating talk, Jun’ichi-san.”
  The sound of the bamboo drip trickling water into another stalk permeated through the silence.
  It collapsed and clunked against a stone.
  He heard the birds flutter away.
  When Wataru raised his head, Saikawa had already been lying face down on the floor.
  And, of course, Wataru’s used to it: the crack of a gun muffled by a silencer.
  He’s been practicing his entire life, after all. He actually doesn’t flinch anymore and Wataru thinks he should be proud of himself.
  It’s just that... how could someone who used to be there, suddenly...disappear? Saikawa was right in front of him a few minutes ago. Laughing and showing off photographs of his son. And now he’s...not.
  But, Saikawa didn’t disappear. Not really.
  The blood seeping through the tatami is proof of it, but Wataru chooses not to look. In theory, he knows what a bullet through the skull looks like. He’d just rather not see today if what he’s taught reflects true in the real world.
  Maybe some other time.
  “Wataru.”
  Wataru flinched. “Y-yes?”
  Akaashi looked back at him. “The cake?”
  His body was still trembling and it took a lot of strength to not let it show in his hands when he gave it back to Akaashi, the box pleasantly yellow with doodles of doe-eyed eggs dancing along the handle. Unblemished, unlike Akaashi, who was sporting a splatter of blood along his cheek.
  It’s surprisingly still cool to touch, too.
  “No, thank you,” he said, rejecting the handkerchief that Wataru offered.
  From afar, Wataru could hear the faint melodies of an old love song being played by a car radio. No doubt Konoha’s doing. It followed them, growing louder the closer they walked back into the parking lot. The others bowed and sent gruff salutations along Akaashi’s way as they dragged bodies out of the Saikawa mansion.
  (It was nauseating and Wataru wanted to pass out.)
  He pressed his nails harshly into the meat of his palm.
  “A-Akaashi-san,” Wataru began. “I didn’t know that- that um, you liked... sweets.”
  Akaashi halted.
  “No, I don’t,” he said, blinking. “But my wife does.”
  Wataru stared at him.
  Akaashi went ahead.
  He stayed that way— staring and wondering, until they stopped by the fast food restaurant that Konoha loved so much. Wataru couldn’t even finish his burger and fries.
  By the time that they hit the freeway, Akaashi had already cleaned himself up and Wataru was still grappling with the word “wife.”
  Of course he knows the man is married.
  But, how, exactly, do you reconcile his reputation with the sight of him, every passing headlight sharpening his features, quietly humming along to Aki Yashiro? Who was longing for Shinjuku at night, the beauty of it, and oh, how wonderful it’d be, she said: a rendezvous with her lover, waiting for her under raining cherry blossoms.
  Wataru figured that he was tired and starting to see things.
  That small smile that graced Akaashi’s lips couldn't be real, either, especially those hands of his that held the box of cake like it’s worth more than gold.
Tumblr media
He wasn't really particular when it comes to music. A song's a song, in Akaashi's opinion. Another form of noise that helps when the silence gets too overbearing.
  But you, on the other hand, liked music. Listened to it the same way one eats their favorite food: memorizes the lyrics; goes out of your way to collect unearthed photographs and newspaper clippings that made the singer seem more human.
  You loved music— was probably the right way of putting it.
  Especially the old variety. He didn't get it at first. The sounds are dated; no one speaks in that language with that cadence anymore; the singer's probably dead.
  Well, Akaashi still doesn't get it, if he were to be honest.
  Yet here he is.
  His hands were wrapped around your waist, coaxing you into a slow— albeit clumsy, waltz.
  "Kei-kun!" you squeaked. "The dishes!"
  You dragged your slippers beneath you, struggling to wipe the suds off your hands.
  "S-seriously, Kei-kun..!"
  Sure, he doesn’t fully understand what’s great about it, music.
  Yet here he is.
  Perhaps it’s because he immediately recognized the first few notes this time, that’s why he’s doing this. He didn’t even wait for the DJ to finish saying, “You’re still listening to Vintage F.M. Here’s a classic for you couples out there. Have a romantic night with Nat King Cole’s L-O-V-”
  Perhaps it’s because your cream stew tasted extra special that it made him shrug the fatigue off, giving in to the urge of pulling you close and taking your damp hand in his to sway and bob along the skipping bassline. Your bashful objections went in one ear and out the other.
  Sure, he’s not the type to do this, either, dancing.
  Yet here he is.
  Perhaps it’s because he knew that it’s your favorite song.
  Perhaps it’s just what marriage does to you.
  "Did you like the cake?" he whispered against your neck, inhaling the scent of cinnamon and the way your skin jumped as he did.
  Your breaths were shallow against his chest, but you managed a soft, “Yes, sweetheart. Thank you.”
  Akaashi caressed your back, kneading the tensed muscles as he huffed.
  “Good,” he murmured, trembling. “Good girl. What a relief."
  It was endearing, how offbeat the both of you were. A shame, though, considering that Nat King Cole’s fervently insisting on love; that it’s all that I can give to you; that it’s more than just a game for two.
  So Akaashi makes up for his two left feet by joining in. He pressed his lips to your forehead. How strange, your presence in his life. What did he do to deserve you by his side, for this contentment that thaws away the chill?
  (He put a ring on your finger, is what he did. He deserves this.)
  “Two,” he droned, made giddy by the sparks in his belly, “in love can make it.”
  You looked at him, wide-eyed.
  “Take my heart and please don’t break it.”
  He spun you around.
  “Oh my god, Kei-kun,” you gasped. “You can’t sing.”
  Akaashi’s aware of it all too well. He can’t carry a note; not him: the guy who’s had monotony ingrained in his very being. But that’s why he has you.
  A startled giggle left you as he guided you into a box step, the trumpet rising and falling over the strings. You stepped on him a few times, so he lifted you up, just so, and kicked off your slippers. Then, he set your feet atop his own.
  He took you with him as he moved, waddling and careful not to hit his back against the countertop. It came as no revelation that both of you weren’t any better dancers even after this maneuver.
  Akaashi continued. Starting with L—
  “Is for the way you look at me.”
  “Stop, stop-” Your eyes crinkled at the sides. “You’re flat.”
  Akaashi persisted, anyway, taking your cheek to pepper kisses all over your face.
  “O is for the only one I see.”
  Your laugh was airy— light and buoyant all over the kitchen, like a fairy leaving stardust in its wake. Not gratingly booming nor demanding. After all, you weren’t the kind who felt the need for it: an audience to witness how pleased you are; how strong and powerful you are over everyone else.
  Besides, your laugh was just for him. A private and intimate thing. And he was so lost in it that he almost forgot what’s been gnawing at him for the entire morning.
  Akaashi rested his chin on your shoulder, nuzzling the downy fabric of your dress as he gripped you by the hips.
  “Where did you go earlier?”
  The orchestra was in a joyous uproar, joining the rapid beating of your heart; the trumpet bright and clear, singing in harmony with the bass and saxophones and trombones, as Nat King Cole repeatedly guaranteed, as if an oath, that love was made for me and you.
  Love was made for me and you.
  “I had to buy some groceries!” you piped up. “We ran out of ingredients. Sorry, I forgot to bring my phone with me. Oh, I have to run you a bath. I’ll tell you when it’s done, alright?”
  You broke away from him with a beaming grin, but Akaashi wanted to ask, despite the evidence of it before him.
  “Are you happy?”
  It has already ended, the song. The DJ was signing off for the night.
  You nodded, playfully jabbing his arm with a fist.
  “Of course,” you told him. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
  Perhaps it’s because you were never really good at pretense, no matter how much you hid behind needless noise.
  Music. Laughter. Running water.
  Akaashi sighed as he slumped down the nearest stool.
  Of course you’re happy. Why wouldn’t you be?
  After rubbing his eyes with clammy fingers, Akaashi fiddled them together beneath his temples. He released a heavy breath and fished for his phone in his pocket.
  He spoke after the first two rings.
  “Wataru-san, I’m sorry for bothering you,” he said. “Can you do something for me?”
  His subordinate didn't ask him why, neither did he react when he'd stated his request. Akaashi knew, however, that the question was sitting in Wataru's clipped replies. The boy’s “yes, sir” and “understood, sir” were far too enthusiastic than normal.
  Akaashi didn’t mind, though, if he did ask. And despite that familiar pang of dread, Akaashi would answer him like the common— just like the average, everyday husband— with that characteristic, bordering on irksome pride that they have when they talk about their wives.
  Why?
  “Well, Wataru-san,” Akaashi would answer. “Perhaps this is just what marriage does to you.”
Tumblr media
The house was a house like any other.
  There was an old pickup truck parked outside the freshly painted gate, carrying crates of fruits and vegetables in its trunk. Along the bricked walls was an overgrowth of vines and ferns. It extended around the windows and crept up the balcony.
  A large Shiba ran outside and jumped to your lap as soon as it saw you by the driveway.
  Wataru heard Chiaki stir at the back of the car.
  “Pay up, asshole,” he grunted, waking a disheveled Ryota who’s still holding a half-bitten melon bread.
  His lackey cracked his neck and gave the scenery a cursory glance. “Could be a front.”
  Ryota grumbled and went back to sleep.
  “Idiot,” Chiaki clicked his tongue. “She traveled all the way to Miyagi just to give intel? And here? Of all places?”
  Three days.
  They’ve tailed you for three days. Akaashi-san never said anything else, besides that within the week, while he’s gone and sealing deals in another country, there was a high likelihood of you folding and getting out of Tokyo.
  To run right here. In Miyagi.
  He didn’t say why, really, but Wataru supposes it’s better that he didn’t. Because during the days of absolute, mind-crushing boredom, of watching some suburban wife go out for a morning walk, chat with her neighbors, and shop around the market, rinse and repeat, coming up with the Why had been their only salvation.
  The betting pool has two answers: cheater or snitch.
  Chiaki was insistent on the former, while Ryota stood by the latter.
  And Wataru...Wataru could only watch, waiting with a bated breath as the door finally opened.
  “I bet it’s someone younger,” Chiaki said. “Usually is.”
  Seems that none of them were winning anything today.
  The man who emerged from the house was far older— who, oddly enough, resembled you. An  old woman soon followed behind him. Both of them looked at you as if they were witnessing a specter, or someone who's crawled back from the dead. An appropriate comparison, especially since they’re both wearing somber black clothes.
  It wasn’t his place to assume. Though he’s been promoted to a slightly higher position, it will never come close to the place that Keiji Akaashi occupies. Wataru knows all of these, but nothing was stopping him from putting the pieces together, no matter what little he has.
  They could only stare when all of you broke down into tears, locked in each other’s embrace as you knelt on the pavement.
  Don’t let her stay too long.
  That had been one of Akaashi-san’s orders.
  So the three of them didn’t wait it out. By the time that the sun had set, Wataru had already stepped out of the car, taking Ryota with him. He made sure to remind the boy, just in case he’d forgotten.
  “Be gentle, alright?” Wataru reiterated.
  There hadn’t been any need for that, it turned out.
  He’s sure you’ve never met before, but Wataru saw bitter understanding flash in your eyes when you caught them loitering in front of your house. Fear was there, too, of course.
  Wataru was convinced that surely it’s a good thing. It saved everyone a lot of time, that way.
  You didn’t even say a word, only giving Wataru a stiff nod when he’d introduced himself, and remained like so on the ride back to Tokyo, with the strap of your handbag trapped by a clenched fist. Wataru didn’t try to initiate small talk; it felt unnecessary.
  It took a while for Wataru to realize that you also hadn’t bothered to change out of your pajamas, though he gave you a couple of minutes to say your farewells.
  Pajamas, obscured now by a thick, gray coat.
  Akaashi-san was right.
  You had no plans of coming home. Not tonight. Maybe not for a while.
  Wataru decided not to linger on it anymore.
  He ignored the blank stare that pierced right through the rear-view mirror. And then, Wataru wondered, hand sweating in his pocket, what the three of them should have for dinner.
Tumblr media
Thick chunks of pumpkin melted in your mouth with just the first spoonful of broth.
  It'd been a while since the last time Akaashi cooked. So, more than anything, it was the sight of him setting plates and utensils that took you aback, greeting you with a, "Welcome home. You're just in time. Food's ready," his sleeves rolled to his elbows while donning your baby owl-printed apron.
  The taste didn't. Surprise you, that is. He's a good cook. Unlike you, who only became marginally better one hundred burn scars later.
  It also didn't surprise you that he flew back home at the drop of a hat. Even when he said he'd be gone for a week.
  "How is it?" Akaashi asked after chewing. "Took me a while to make it."
  It obviously did, you thought. When you arrived, Irma Thomas was already begging through the record player.
  "Do you need me, like I need you?" she implored, straight from the heart. "Look at me, I'm crying from holding you."
  The last song on your favorite record. It was cheap and had the best from the artists you loved.
  Etta James. Ella Fitzgerald. Aretha Franklin. The Mills Brothers. Bessie Smith. All in one vinyl.
  "Yeah," you replied, clearing your throat when you realized how hard it is to speak. "It's delicious."
  You looked back down to your bowl. The  tofu had gone untouched. Your food was still close to spilling to the brim, while Akaashi was almost finished with his, scrolling on his phone laid on the table.
  "So no one coaxed you into it," you heard him say, and that had ripped your eyes away from the broth like a bandage on an infected wound.
  Akaashi was holding your phone, reading the messages- his number was the only one there, as pealing bells resonated in the dining room.
  "I'd think of all the things that I wanted of you," cried Irma Thomas. "To make me forget the pain that you caused."
  "I would've known if anyone else talked to you, anyway," he huffed, locking the screen before blowing steam off the morsel.
  "You would," you conceded. The tofu was soft when you bit into it, sinking into your teeth.
  "I found that in our cabinet. Last time it was in the kitchen drawer, wasn't it?" Akaashi helped himself to a bowl of rice. "Don't leave it in stuffy places. What if you forget where you hid it and you won't know when I call?"
  "And I can no longer keep track of where you are for every moment of the day?" you could hear him say. Though he didn't; though all that could heard, besides the scraping of utensils, was Irma Thomas declaring:
  A fragile thing, like life. It just don't last so long.
  It could be for a minute or an hour. Or then again, from now.
  Your lips tightened with a grin. "I won't do it again, sweetheart," you said, spoon hanging limply in your hold.
  He didn't need to say it.
  That your phone has a tracker. That this house is still the same cage that it'd been before. That the only difference between then and now is that silver band on your finger.
  Akaashi’s blinked back at you as he sipped  what remained of the soup. You tried to do the same.
  The savory taste was cloying and it burned in your throat, so you didn't attempt to finish the bowl. It cut down to your heart, sinking heavily on your stomach, bile rising as the song came to a close.
  You gulped it down, though. You had to. And in the final moments, Irma Thompson told you what she really wanted.
  "Make me forget," she said, "the pain that you'd caused."
  The chorus joined her. "Understanding is a great thing," she concluded. "If it comes from the heart."
  Akaashi was on his own phone this time. Most likely checking on the business that he left, judging by those furrowed brows and that long-suffering look in his eyes.
  Fizzling noise came at the heels of the fading music. Then, it stopped. And there was nothing left anymore but silence.
  It's over now. Akaashi’s making a move to clean up. You were supposed to say, "That was a lovely dinner, honey." Or, you could tell him to sit down and watch a movie with you when he's done.
  "I'll help you with the dishes," you wanted to say.
  I'll help you with the dishes. It was so easy to say.
  Instead, what came out of your mouth was a hushed call for his name.
  "Kei-kun," you repeated, brittle and weak and dry.
  "I'm so sorry," you might've mouthed.
  You could barely hear your own voice as you looked at him. Akaashi paused from tidying the table.
  You're parched and a lot has happened today. Gathering the courage to take that first step out of the city had taken what little strength you had. The fear never left you. Seeing your old house almost ended you.
  It should be physically impossible for you to still be able to cry. And yet there doesn't seem to be an end to your tears now, the same way your apologies unfurled in an embarrassingly infinite string.
  "Don't lock me inside here again," you whispered, clinging to him as he shushed you, wiping your cheeks with his thumbs as he helped you drink a glass of water.
  He carried you to your room and sat you down on the bed, right between his thighs. You sobbed into your hands, tears and snot on the sleeves of your pajama top.
  "I- I just wanted to see them. That's all. Just one day, Kei-kun. One day. I was gonna come back, I swear."
  You're rambling. You're a madwoman pleading and bargaining with a stone-cold judge because playing house is the only thing keeping her alive.
  And you messed that up you foolish, foolish girl.
  "Please don't hurt my family," you heaved. "They're all I have left."
  Akaashi doesn't speak, not for a while, but when he did, you bawled harder.
  "I can kill them all," he said, matter of factly.
  It is true. Hearing him say it does not make it easier to take, though.
  "I can hurt you the same way that you hurt me."
  Your neck strained as he tipped your chin towards him with a slender finger.
  "I can break you," he muttered, not batting an eye.
  That, too, is true. You know it all too well. He said it with such serenity, still and undisturbed by the shaking of your head, because it goes without saying.
  Except, you, too, know it.
  When he is breaking. When he is falling apart.
  He smothered you, taking your entire body to curl against you, making himself small as he pressed his face on your back.
  "Yet- and yet I-" Akaashi sniffled. You felt your shirt dampen. "I've given you everything."
  When he finally brought his face close to yours, he looked so lost. Almost like a little boy who's on the verge of drowning,  clinging desperately onto a lifesaver and too shocked to shout for help.
  You hated him all the more for it.
  "Each other," he said, snarling, almost, through tears as he grabbed your face with both hands. "That's all we have left, you hear? You and I. Husband and wife."
  He seized your jaw and turned it towards the vanity mirror.
  The room was dark save for the light in the hallway, peeking into the crack through the doorway.
  But you could see yourself. And you could see your hand intertwined in his, your rings gleaming like muted starlights.
  "We made a vow," he whispered, kissing your ring finger.
  A detached part of you is astonished with how inescapable it is. Whether it be a reward or a punishment; a good day or a bad one.
  No matter what happens, you always end up like this, don't you?
  Begging to him with your legs spread wide.
  You did as you'd always done when he began unbuttoning your top.
  You go back to that autumn morning, when you first laid your eyes on him, a cup of coffee in his hand, and you thought that he had the prettiest face you'd ever seen.
  You go back to when he was just this really romantic guy who sent you flowers every day. There was a letter, every time.
  Nothing too grandiose. Just short messages hoping that you'd have a great day ahead.
  He kissed your neck, wet smooches and long, flat-tongued licks dipping down your shoulder.
  He watched you through the mirror, his eyes a pair of darkened blues daring you to look away.
  Akaashi Keiji was your boyfriend, you told yourself. You dated him for quite some time before you married.
  Akaashi Keiji got along well with your father and doted on your mother. On Sundays, you visit them and they send you back to Tokyo with ripe watermelons.
  Akaashi Keiji has never hurt you.
  The man tracing the hem of your bra, cupping your clothed tits and drawing lazy circles over nipples, however, did.
  (And he still will in future. He still is, right now.)
  This man is the real one.
  And you have angered him, so he will not make this easy for you.
  "What did you promise me?" Akaashi whispered as he lightly bit the shell of your ear. "Or have you forgotten?"
  Of course, you haven't forgotten. You were chained to this very room when you made them, after all.
  "N-no, I remember," you said, catching your breath. "I remember, Kei-kun."
  "Then say it," he said. "Look at me."
  You shivered as his palms swept over your  stomach; as he unfastened your bra, letting it fall down your arms.
  "Look at me when you say it."
  You felt your nipples harden, gooseprickles spread all over you, as the air hit your bare skin, cooling the sweat that made it glisten.
  "Please," he rasped.
  The eyes of the woman in the mirror was hooded, threatening to close as she puffed with each squeeze and caress to her tits, swiveling her hips against her husband’s crotch as he grinded into her.
  "I will be happy," she said.
  Akaashi nuzzled your temple, using his rough fingers to tease your nipples just as he did, brushing them to and fro, then grazing the bumpy skin around until you're squeaking out his name.
  And when he began pressing down on the stiff peaks with his thumbs, before rolling and pulling at them, the heels of his palm digging into your tits, you saw the woman claw at her husband's hair, a graceless affair that almost scratched his eye out, making him reach for both her arms to wrap them around his neck.
  "I- I will..!" Her lips parted in a breathless scream and it was disgusting how lewd she appeared. "I will not run away!"
  The streak of tears on his cheeks touched yours when he kissed you. His lips were soft and warm, his wet tongue gliding in so slowly as he deepened the kiss with a throaty groan.
  His other hand crawled down to your soaked panties. You couldn't contain the mewl that left you.
  Both of you gasped and struggled to breathe again after you parted from each other.
  "You understand, don't you?" he rasped.
  Two of his fingers slid down your folds, only to slither back up, then down again, smearing your cunt with its own slick.
  But he never touched your swollen clit, even though it's throbbing and aching to be rubbed and the hard bulge sitting between your ass grew harder the more you squirmed in his hold, whimpering like a bitch in heat.
  You heard your husband sigh, his hot breath tickling you when he said, "This isn't about you now."
Tumblr media
Belly pushed into the edge of the dressing table, rattling and battering against the wall with each forceful thrust, and your leg perched atop it, made numb by Akaashi's grip on your thigh.
  That was the first thing that you could recall when you opened your eyes.
  But your entire body was screaming in pain, so you knew that everything else that happened last night would come back to you soon enough.
  The flesh had a memory of its own.
  You sat up with a groan and you didn't have to see the marks to know.
  His teeth were still nipping at you, biting you until they drew blood, only to follow with an apologetic lapping of his tongue.
  You could feel him beneath you, his hands clawing you down to him, palms kneading your ass cheeks as you bounced up and down on his cock.
  You could feel him above you, gripping your wrists not unlike the cuffs that once kept you shackled. He had your legs wrapped around his waist, pulling you close to him, filling you up with loads and loads of cum, squelching every time he sank down your weeping hole.
  And when your vision began to blur at the edges, he carried your body, mere seconds into fainting, to the dressing table.
  The evidence of that stared back at you in shameful streaks and smudges, traces of your fingers on the mirror when he rammed your cunt from behind.
  "Are you happy?" Akaashi whispered.
  You don't know.
  When he's just your husband who comes home to your arms and brings you sweets because he knows how much you love them; who dances with you in the kitchen and listens intently to you when you talk about that cute dog you saw at the park, were you happy, then?
  You don't know, but the woman in the mirror, in that moment, surely was.
  She even said, "Yes, yes, Kei-kun, right there, fuck me right there!"
  Her pupils were blown wide, eyes rolling almost over to the back of her head. And despite the cries that escaped her, there was a wide, dissipated smile on her lips,  spit trailing down her chin.
  "Look at you," Akaashi said, grunting when your walls tightened around his shaft. "You're clearly happy with me."
  "So why? Why'd you even think of leaving?" He rocked his hips, grinding his thick cock against that spot that had you holding onto the mirror. "Don't ever do that to me again."
  You told him no, no, you won't run away again, but it didn't seem to placate his unease, nor his tears.
  "I'm so scared, everyday, that you'll leave me and- and- it feels like hell. I would rather die."
  He kissed your nape as he huffed and said, "Because I don't know what I'll do without you."
  You never really understood why; what about you had caused him to single you out in the sea of people that had vied for his attention. Especially now as you looked at yourself in the mirror.
  There were dark circles under your eyes and Akaashi’s t-shirt was rumpled on your body, engulfing you whole with its size— a far cry from that lovely, dazzling bride that his best friend, Bokuto, had described you as on your wedding day.
  But you’re aware, more than anyone, that Akaashi Keiji is the last person to care about appearances.
  When he entered the room, carrying a tray in his hands, he gazed at that disheveled girl with eyebags big enough to be dragged around the same way he looked at her when he waited for her at the end of the aisle.
  “I made you pancakes,” he muttered, clearing his throat as he sat down beside you.
  You were tired so it didn’t dawn on you as quickly as it should that he made them the way you preferred. Four fluffy pieces stacked atop one another, sprinkled with powdered sugar, whipped cream and a smattering of berries on the side.
  He fiddled with his fingers when you only stared at it, so you immediately took the fork in your hand and sliced the pancake in half.
  “I’ll be taking some time off work,” Akaashi said as you took the food in your mouth. You only nodded, having noticed that he wasn’t wearing the usual bespoke suit as soon as he entered the room.
  You felt him near you; felt his hand, warm to touch, cup your face.
  “I didn’t mean to hurt you.” His eyes were misty and, this close, it seemed that he, too, wasn’t in a good shape. “So please-” Akaashi licked his chapped lips, “Please don’t go.”
  “I won’t,” you replied, giving him the smile that you knew he needed. “I promise.”
  Then, as you moved to kiss him on the cheek, the chains that tethered you to the bedpost clinked softly beneath the blanket, and you didn’t bother to keep the tears at the bay.
  Akaashi wiped them for you when you said that you loved him. And when he asked why, you only shrugged and told him that the pancakes were so sweet that they could make anyone cry.
Turning Keys
welcome back to the Forget-Me-Not AU everyone! (the title of this one is uh. based on the song The Other Side. because i have an entire mental animatic of this scene set to it ahkdfjhsldfkdjls)
this one pretty much picks up where Shattered Masks left off.
Word Count: 2.5k
Read on Ao3
The birds chirped in the distance. A breeze blew through MK's hair, rustling it gently. A small squirrel climbed its way up a tree trunk. The sun had dipped entirely below the horizon, the moon illuminating the clear night sky.
MK noticed none of it, entirely focused on the impossibility that was standing in front of him.
The Monkey King, Sun Wukong had... come back to life?
If MK's eyes weren't deceiving him (and maybe they were, maybe this was some weird side effect of pulling the staff, hallucinations-), then it was true. A legend had been brought back to life.
A legend who was the Lady's sworn nemesis.
A legend MK had just freed.
A legend who was staring at him like he'd just seen a dead man brought back to life. (Which wasn't that ironic?)
It was at this thought that MK realized he had yet to speak a single word, or break eye contact with Wukong. Quickly, he glanced away, looking down at the staff he held in his hands.
He mentally pleaded for this to not be really happening right now.
But he could still feel his hands sting, his water-soaked clothes sticking to his body, and the blood dripping from the cuts on his cheeks.
This was real.
...
This was really bad.
The Lady would kill him if she found out about this. Releasing the Monkey King would absolutely be the number one way for MK to get himself a one way ticket to being murdered.
And he'd just gone and done it.
Well. Maybe he could salvage this. If he just left now, returned to the Lady with the staff, and didn't mention the Monkey King, then maybe he could swing by unscathed. Wukong did look rather weak right now, MK could only guess that 200 years of being stone probably takes it toll on people.
In this condition, the Monkey King would be of no threat to the Lady, and, in fact, barely even be noticed at all.
MK just needed to be sure she didn't notice.
Mind made up, he turned to leave the garden.
-
It was Xiaotian, but...not.
That, was Wukong's first impression of the person standing before him.
For a moment, he had considered if some random demon had stolen Xiaotian's form, but had quickly dismissed the idea.
...He kinda almost wished that were the case, though.
Reincarnation was a very tricky thing. Wukong, if he's being honest, didn't quite like the idea of messing with it, much less even thinking about it.
Yet here he was, face to face with the reincarnation of the kid he'd once trained.
...The kid he had lost.
He couldn't let that get to him though, the not-Xiaotian had just drawn the staff after all, he'd have to talk with him, find out more about what was going on (did he know that he was a reincarnation of Xiaotian??? That should probably be the first question he asks him actually-)
By the time Wukong pulls himself together enough to look the other in the eyes again, not-Xiaotian has turned around and seems to be about to start walking away. In a rush of panic, Wukong stood up too fast, stumbling a little, woozy as black spots momentarily filled his vision. He didn't let this stop him however.
"Kid, wait!" He grabbed hold of the edge of the other's shirt, just barely keeping himself from falling and bringing the other down with him. The kid paused, looking back at him with- was that fear? Wukong's mind suddenly blanked as he struggled for something to say. "Um. Hey-uh, what's your name?"
Not the question he'd wanted to start with, but it'd work.
".....It's....Xiaotian...but I go by MK?" The look of fear wasn't gone from the other's eyes, but there was confusion in there now too.
....He probably didn't have his memories from before then. Likely didn't know he was a reincarnation either, he would probably have mentioned it if he had, that would definitely be the kinda thing you'd mention in an introduction right?
Well. The only thing he could do would be to start from the beginning, he supposed.
"MK, then." Wukong let go of MK's shirt, pretending to not notice the sigh of relief the other gave. "How'd you like to be my successor?"
"...What?"
"Become my successor!" Wukong took a step back, spreading his arms out as though to better convey the idea. "You pulled the staff, so obviously you can have the same powers I do! I'll teach you everything you need to know."
"Uhh..." MK looked....hesitant, though Wukong couldn't imagine why.
"C'mon, don't you want to learn how to do this?" Wukong asked, forming a hair clone and having it spin him around, ending with the clone holding him in a dip. MK watched him do this with bewildered confusion.
"....No?" He said, and the sheer shock of receiving a negative response caused Wukong's hair clone to vanish, the Monkey King dropping unceremoniously onto the stone ground at the sudden lack of support.
"N- What do you mean no?" Wukong looked at MK in disbelief as he hurriedly stood up again. He honestly hadn't had much of a plan here but-
Why would anyone, especially a reincarnation of Xiaotian, say no to learning the Monkey King's powers?
"I mean no." MK seemed a bit more confident now, resting the staff on his shoulder. "I've got what I came for, so I'll just. Be going now."
While Wukong continued to stand there, shocked, MK turned around, stepping over the small moat and walking down one of the garden paths.
A tingling feeling started in Wukong's foot.
Glancing down, he could see stone starting to form on the edges of his foot, spreading more as MK kept walking away.
.....Shit.
"Ah- Hey, wait!" Wukong followed after MK, easily catching up to him, the stone fading away again as he did, and turning around to walk backwards so that he could face him as they moved. "Are you sure? I assure you, I'm not lying about teaching you-"
"Already been taught everything I could ever possibly need to know, thanks." MK's stride didn't even falter. Wukong didn't back down either, still walking in time with MK, but now taking a moment to study the other again, contemplating.
It took a moment, but eventually Wukong reached the horrifying, true, confusion.
MK, the reincarnation of Xiaotian, his successor, absolutely reeked of the Lady Bone Demon's influence.
He was shocked that he hadn't noticed it earlier, honestly. The aura of cold, fear, and evil was practically leaking off of MK.
It made sense, obviously. Of course she would find the reincarnation of his successor. Of course she would twist him into her own little pawn.
Well. Wukong wasn't going to let that stand.
Not on his watch.
"Are you sure she's taught you everything?" Wukong stopped walking, MK having to stop as well to avoid bumping into him. "Surely you must've caught on to the Lady's real colours by now."
"...I have no idea what you're talking about." MK wasn't meeting his eyes anymore, instead keeping his head down.
"Whatever she's told you isn't true." Wukong used his tail to lift MK's chin up, looking him directly in the eyes. "I'm not your enemy, kid."
A golden flash appeared in MK's eyes, there and then gone, and he winced, dropping the staff as he used both hands to rub at his eyes, a bit of the blood from the cuts underneath of them smearing a little. Wukong expertly caught the staff with his hand, transferring it to be held in his tail and holding it behind him, just out of MK's reach as he waited for the other to adjust to...whatever had just happened. He wasn't entirely sure. Golden vision, maybe, but that didn't feel exactly right.
But he wasn't given time to puzzle it out, as MK was already lowering his hands, seemingly realizing the staff was no longer held within them. He blinked, his eyes narrowed, before focusing in on Wukong, noting the staff being held in the monkey's tail.
"Hey!" He reached out, trying to grab it, Wukong expertly dodging to the side, continuing to hold the staff just out of MK's reach. "Give that back- I need that!"
"What for? To doom the world?" Wukong asked, the small game of cat and mouse continuing as he carefully led MK back towards the pedestal. "The Lady's intentions aren't good. Trust me kid, as soon as she gets what she wants, everyone will be subjected to her pre-planned 'destiny'."
"You think I don't know that?!" MK twisted and- ooh, that was a dagger, where had he been hiding that-
Wukong felt the weapon sail past the side of his head, cutting off a few hairs as it did so, planting itself in a tree a few feet behind him. Huh, the kid had some pretty good aim, needed a bit more improvement on the speed but other than that-
Wukong was forcibly brought back to the present moment as MK elbowed him in the face. He stumbled back, still managing to keep the staff out of the other's reach, one hand rubbing his face while he continued to dodge MK's attacks. The hit hadn't actually hurt, but he supposed the fact MK had managed to land a hit at all did show that the kid had definitely had some form of combat training.
(That'd make things easier for him, in the long run. He didn't think he could handle training someone from the ground up again.
...Especially someone that wore his original successor's face.)
"If you know the Lady Bone Demon is evil, then why are you still working for her?" Wukong asked, eyeing the other with concern. (There weren't any obvious signs of possession or anything of the like, but he didn't want to be taking any chances.)
"Because that's the only way to be safe!" MK tried to punch him, but Wukong caught his fist with one hand, waiting patiently as MK panted, having over-exerted himself from trying to fight so soon after lifting the staff. "If- if I run away, she'll find me, and I'll be punished. But- if I complete my mission, get on her good side-"
"Kid, I hate to break this to you, but she doesn't exactly have a good side." Wukong said, "Pretty sure all sides of her are bad. Her angles are all bad too, not a single righteous one. She's like an oblique triangle, no right angles."
MK slumped, letting out a half-hearted chuckle, and Wukong took that as a win.
He slowly let go of MK's fist, and MK let his hand fall down limply.
"Well....what do you think I should do?" MK asked, eyes still following the staff as Wukong walked to the left. They'd reached the pedestal again, and Wukong knelt down, picking some forget-me-nots out of the ground, easily weaving them into a bracelet. He whispered some words to it, the flowers flashing gold for a brief moment, before returning to look like normal.
"Here." Wukong held out the bracelet. "Wear this."
"...I didn't know the great, legendary Monkey King had a hobby of making flower bracelets." MK joked, hesitantly taking the bracelet, holding it between his fingers and making no motion to put it on. Wukong rolled his eyes.
"It's a protective charm." He explained, flicking MK lightly on the head. "It'll keep the Lady Bone Demon and her forces from recognizing you."
"...You can do that?"
"Kid, I'm the Monkey King, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven. I can do anything."
MK hesitated for a moment longer, before sliding the bracelet over his wrist. Nothing seemed to obviously change, but Wukong mentally sighed in relief as the Lady's cold aura left MK's being completely. It wasn't a perfect charm, he'd have to add more power to it later, once his own abilities were more up to par, but it would do for now.
-
MK stared at the bracelet on his wrist. It didn't obviously seem to do anything, but MK almost could sense a kind of....warm power pulsing from it.
It was nice.
Soothing.
A far cry from the Lady's panic inducing cold.
MK looked back up to see the Monkey King was still standing in front of him, but now he had the staff in his hand, holding it out, offering it.
"...Y'know what?" MK wrapped his hand around the staff, feeling the electric power course through his veins again. "I think I'll take you up on your apprenticeship offer."
He wasn't fully confident in, nor did he trust, the Monkey King.
But to be honest, he trusted the Lady even less.
"Great!" Wukong said, before a smirk appeared on his face. "This is for elbowing me in the face by the way."
"What-"
Before MK could react, he was being pushed down into the moat. He spluttered, spitting out water, before glaring up at the giggling Monkey King.
"Aw, c'mon, you were already soaked anyways! Actually, tell you what, you just stay right there for a moment, I think I saw a shed earlier, I can probably find you some dry clothes to change into in there.... I'll be back in a second!" Wukong turned around, walking off into a more wooded part of the garden. MK also vaguely remembered having seen a some form of building in that direction, so considering the monkey's story checked out, he sighed, resigning himself to sitting in the moat as he waited. He stared at his reflection, analyzing the cuts on his face.
As he turned his head, the light of the moon hit the amulet around his neck, illuminating it.
His eyes flashed gold.
And his reflection rippled, despite nothing disturbing the water, the image contorting until-
It was still his own face. But it wasn't...him.
The different clothes and the long hair were a dead give away that something was off.
"Heh, that's Monkey King for you. Good to know that he hasn't changed. I guess being set in stone would do that though..."
MK remained silent, terrified as his reflection spoke, the words echoing within his own mind. He leaned back in fear as his reflection suddenly moved, climbing out of the water, become golden and see through as it emerged, before hovering a few inches above the moat, looking off in the direction Wukong had gone.
"He's probably using this chance to pull himself together a bit, not that you can blame him I guess, seeing his successor's face again was probably a sho- oh."
The see through version of him paused, finally noticing MK's shocked a fearful face.
"Uh. Can you see me?"
MK slowly nodded, still not entirely sure what was going on.
"Oh. Well, this is awkward."
"Who are you?" MK whispered, watching as the golden form laughed nervously.
"Ha ha, uh. Well, I didn't really expect this to happen but, well. It's nice to 'officially' meet you MK, my names Xiaotian, and I'm your past self."
Jimmy was trying his hardest to not be mopey as he helped Katherine with rebuilding. He knew that he had promised that he would help her- but his own confusing feelings about Scott, his lack of building know-how, and the dejected look Katherine had as she looked at the slight crater where her castle used to be had Jimmy feeling far out of his league. But he put on a brave face- he needed the distraction, after all.
They began with filling in the crater, mostly silent as they moved dirt over with their shovels. Then once the ground was level, they could begin with setting up the framework of the castle. They spoke more to each other then- but it was mostly Katherine telling Jimmy where to put the support beams. Jimmy wanted to say something, anything to break the tension and melancholy air- but he couldn’t think of a single thing to say to Katherine that didn’t lead back to the tragedies they had experienced. Jimmy wished that Joel or Lizzie were there- but they were off gathering more materials for Katherine’s castle, and probably wouldn’t return until nightfall. So until then, it was just Jimmy and Katherine, silently stewing in their respective sadnesses.
Luckily- or maybe unluckily- someone much more chipper than either of them came along. Jimmy almost didn’t recognize her at first- but quickly realized that the figure approaching them was the mushroom gnome queen, Shrub. Or Shelby-she had said they could call her that too. She was dressed far more casually than she had been at the ball, a polka-dotted red kerchief tied over her head, brown overalls over a green shirt, and red boots with white polka dots. She had a bag slung over her shoulder, and Jimmy could see the tops of mushrooms peeking out of it.
“Um- hello! I- I wanted to offer some gifts from the Undergrove, maybe they could help with rebuilding! Or they could just look pretty- or just be a peace offering- or a gift of sympathy for what happened,” Shelby rambled, seeming just as skittish as she had at the ball, but was less afraid and more excited. Katherine set down the beam she was holding, and gave Shelby a small smile.
“The gift is much appreciated, thank you. It was nice of you to stop by- I apologize for the appearance of the Overgrown. Usually it’s prettier here,” Katherine said, looking over her lands for a brief moment before focusing back on Shelby.
“Oh! Well, what I saw of it at the ball, your empire is lovely! I’m sure it will be back to its former glory soon… if you’d like, I can help! I’m good with plants and I’m not a bad builder!” Shelby offered with an encouraging smile. Katherine practically glowed at the praise of her empire, and smiled back.
“I’d love to have your help- it’s just been me and Jimmy working all day, and most of our time was spent filling in the crater. Some extra hands would definitely help things go faster,” Katherine replied, gesturing at the land around her. Shelby beamed back at her, setting down her bag of mushrooms.
“Then I’m more than happy to help! We gnomes are small but mighty, just tell me where to lug these beams around and I’ll do it!” she chirped. Katherine blinked in slight surprise at her eagerness, but looked over to the stack of beams beside them.
“Well, there is one that needs to go across those two over here for the entrance. If you’re as strong as you say, then maybe you can help Jimmy with getting it up there- I’ll set some scaffolding up so you guys can reach it,” Katherine explained, going over to where two beams were upright and doing just that. Jimmy watched her set up the scaffolding for a moment, until he felt a pair of eyes on him. He turned and looked down to Shelby, who quickly looked away once she realized she had been caught staring.
“Is everything okay? You seem jumpy,” he asked, brows furrowed in confusion. Shelby chuckled nervously.
“Oh. Well- you see, gnomes can’t swim. And I’m kind of afraid of the water and water related things because of it. But you and the ocean lady seem like really nice people! So… sorry for being jumpy. It’s a habit,” she admitted sheepishly. Jimmy let out a good-natured laugh.
“I mean you’re right to be spooked by Lizzie, she can be scary when she wants to be- but most of the time she’s very nice! And trust me, there is not a single threatening thing about me,” Jimmy said, tone turning a bit rueful at the end of his statement. Shelby frowned.
“The guy with the goggles and his friend sure seemed to think otherwise, why else would they bother you like that?” she asked. Jimmy blinked in surprise at that.
“You… you think Fwhip and Sausage are afraid of me?” he asked in disbelief.
“Well… not afraid, but definitely threatened. I’ve seen it before, back where I came from. You’re someone who won’t bow to people easily, and people like them don’t like that,” Shelby explained with a shrug. Jimmy considered this for a moment.
“Huh. I guess… I never saw it like that before,” Jimmy said, a small smile coming to his face.
Their conversation was ended by Katherine waving them over, and Jimmy and Shelby picked up one of the beams to carry over to where the scaffolding had been set up. Shelby was surprisingly strong for her stature, and carrying around the beams and placing them where they needed to be was much easier than before she had arrived. It was less quiet with Shelby around too, as she cheerfully asked questions about their empires, as well as sharing some things about her own empire. But then there was one question that caused Jimmy’s blood to freeze in his veins.
“So you said that Joel and Lizzie were getting more building materials, but what about your partner? Is he with them too?” Shelby asked, and for a moment, Jimmy was confused.
“My… what?” he asked.
“The elf guy you were dancing with at the ball! You’re very cute together, by the way,” Shelby continued, completely oblivious to the tension in the air her statement created. However she soon noticed Jimmy’s pained expression, and it was her curious smile changed to a concerned frown.
“We uh. We were never together. And he betrayed us,” Jimmy said stiffly.
“Oh- oh I’m so sorry. You guys had just looked so happy together, I had just assumed- I’m sorry,” Shelby rambled, and Jimmy gave her a weak smile.
“It’s alright. I guess I was kinda happy- but it was never real. Not for him, at least,” Jimmy replied, throat feeling tight. He hadn’t really meant to burden all of his issues onto Shelby, but his mouth was moving a little faster than his brain was at the moment, and he couldn’t hold back his words.
“Well- well then that guy is missing out! You seem great, and he gave you up for what, tactical gain or political advantage or something?! He doesn’t deserve you!” Shelby declared, hands on her hips as she smiled up at Jimmy confidently. If someone he barely knew had so much confidence in him, then why shouldn’t he? Jimmy smiled back at Shelby.
“Maybe you’re right,” he conceded. Shelby gave him a half laugh, half playful scoff.
“Of course I’m right! Now c’mon, this castle isn’t gonna rebuild itself!” she chirped, heading over to the stack of beams. Jimmy could only stare after her for a moment, dumbfounded. Katherine seemed just as amazed by the gnome’s boundless positivity, a smile growing across her face.
“She’s spirited,” Katherine murmured. Jimmy chuckled.
“Yeah, you two are like birds of a feather,” Jimmy murmured back.
"We both are definitely nature-oriented," Katherine added with a chuckle. She looked at Shelby fondly for a moment, until her expression turned into a frown as she noticed something in the sky. Subconsciously her hand started reaching for Jimmy’s, and he took it as he looked up to the sky with her. Two figures were flying in- and the tension in Jimmy’s shoulders relaxed ever-so-slightly when he recognized them as Pearl and Gem. But he still gave Katherine’s hand a gentle squeeze all the same.
“What’s going on? Are we under attack again?!” Shelby asked anxiously, coming over to stand beside them and look up at Pearl and Gem flying in.
“Don’t know yet- they weren’t directly behind the explosion… but they are allied with the people who were,” Katherine said apprehensively. Shelby looked down from the sky, frowning in concern- and upon noticing Jimmy and Katherine’s joined hands, she grabbed Katherine’s other hand with a comforting smile. Katherine flushed slightly, but smiled back at Shelby gratefully.
“Please don’t be alarmed!” Gem shouted as she came in for a landing. Frankly, that didn’t make Jimmy feel any less alarmed.
“We aren’t allied with Fwhip and Sausage anymore. We don’t want any part of what they’re up to,” Pearl clarified, landing beside Gem.
“Really?” Jimmy asked warily. Gem looked to Jimmy with an open, pleading expression.
“I meant what I said when we told you that we didn’t know what Fwhip was up to. He left myself and Pearl completely in the dark, while Sausage and Scott were the only ones who knew about the full plan. But even then, I don’t think those two had the full picture, they looked surprised that we hadn’t known about the TNT. The point is- Pearl and I were tired of being part of an alliance that lied to us, and lied to us to hurt others! Katherine- if I had known what was going to happen, I would have never gone along with it and would have tried to put a stop to it,” Gem explained, turning her focus to Katherine as she spoke.
“So… you two are… on our side then?” Katherine asked slowly. Pearl gave her a gentle smile.
“If you’ll have us, yes. We also figured you could use our help rebuilding,” Pearl replied. Katherine looked to Jimmy, as if she was asking for his opinion. Jimmy blinked, and looked at Pearl and Gem. They seemed… candid, at least. But after Scott… Jimmy wasn’t sure who he could trust anymore besides his steady allies. However, they weren’t Scott. And furthermore, it really wasn’t his call to make. It was Katherine’s.
“It’s your empire, Katherine. If you don’t want them here, then just say the word. But you won’t get a fight from me if you do want them to help,” Jimmy said gently. Katherine smiled, and looked back to Pearl and Gem.
“I would absolutely appreciate your help. We’ve almost got all the framework for the castle set up- but having someone with wings help us out with some of the taller parts would be lovely,” Katherine said. Pearl beamed, and Gem clapped her hands excitedly. Gem came closer and Katherine let go of Shelby and Jimmy’s hands to talk over building plans with Gem, Shelby following after her and listening as well. Pearl, however, walked over to Jimmy with a mildly timid expression.
“Pearl?” Jimmy asked.
“There’s something I think you should know,” she blurted. Jimmy blinked in surprise, tilting his head to one side in confusion.
“I… okay,” Jimmy said semi-apprehensively. Pearl took a deep breath, like she was unsure of how to continue.
“Gem and I just came from a meeting with the Wither Rose Alliance. Well… it wasn’t much of a meeting, Gem and I broke off ties with the alliance pretty quickly and then left. But… there’s a… there’s something about Scott,” Pearl explained slowly. Jimmy tensed, swallowing nervously.
“Oh?” Jimmy asked, trying to keep his tone neutral.
“Like I said, Gem and I didn’t stay long so I don’t know for sure- but there was something off about Scott. He just… didn’t seem himself. I think he was just as unhappy with Fwhip as we were with him. I… I just know he meant a lot to you. And I think you meant a lot to him too. I just… I don’t want to get your hopes up, but maybe… maybe you should give him a chance,” Pearl continued. Jimmy’s mouth fixed into a firm line.
“It’s a nice thought… but I don’t think I can trust him anymore. Not after everything that happened,” Jimmy said, throat tight as he tried not to cry. Part of him really wanted to hope that maybe there was some sort of misunderstanding, that Scott really did care about him- but Jimmy couldn’t afford that kind of hope. Pearl nodded in understanding.
“That’s fair. Like I said… just thought you should know,” she said, before walking over to join Katherine in her discussion for the build. Then Jimmy- only feeling ever so slightly useless now that Katherine had so much more help- swallowed the tears that thinking about Scott caused, and joined them.
Million Dollar Ghost
Phic Phight Oneshot for @grimgrinningghoul: Danny gets captured by the GiW. It doesn't go how he expected it to go.
-----------
He had no idea how it happened. But it happened far from any prying eyes or help, with no Tucker or Sam nearby to save him. He had dropped his phone somewhere, and so he couldn't even use a phone call to freedom.
Crammed into a lightly glowing cage that was too small, he found himself laying on his back. His legs were crammed against his chest, no room to stretch, and the metal bars were already digging into him. The van doors were slammed shut, leaving Agent K inside to finish locking it. The other got into the front seat.
"What are you going to do with me?" Danny asked, though he basically knew that he already knew the answer. Agent K glanced around the van. He found a blanket, and he threw it over the cage.
"Shut up, it's fake nighttime now," he replied. Danny felt his eyes flash angrily, and he began to shake the cage furiously.
"I'm not a damn bird!" he yelled.
Agent K kicked the cage, and he stopped moving. It was too claustrophobic in here to really squirm too much anyway without it hurting, so he settled for just accepting his fate for now while he tried to think. Of something. Of anything.
His thoughts were that he was pretty fucked right now.
Danny could hear and feel the van start up and begin to drive. And drive, and drive, and drive. Danny knew that the Guys in White office couldn't possibly be that far from where they picked him up. Where the fuck were they going? He didn't wanna ask again.
God, he was going to get dissected.
He stared up at the top of the cage. He was never going to see his parents or sister again. Tucker and Sam would never know what happened to him. He'd be a missing kid and eventually declared dead with no body to recover, cause it'd be in the hands of the Guys in White that would never let him go. Hell, even when they fully killed him, they'd keep his ghost around. Would he even still become a ghost? Well! He was apparently going to find out soon.
Every possible scenario went through his head, only to come to a halt when the van finally fully stopped, and he heard the engine turn off. He heard the agents exit the car, and he shifted in the cage to try and pull the blanket off so he could see what was going on. The back door opened, and he felt fingers press against him as one of the agents grabbed the cage to pull to the edge.
He grabbed the top of the cage as the entire container rocked as the agents worked together to pick it up. For a brief moment, he was set on the ground so that they could close the van doors, and he could tell that it was on pavement. He was quickly picked back up and carried somewhere.
Danny could tell that it wasn't a parking garage or anything, but outside. He could hear birds, no distinctive parking lot echoing, and the light and smell of the outside was clear. Where the hell were they going? He knew the Guys in White had a parking garage. His parents had to measure the Fenton RV to see if the vehicle would enter, only to learn that it wouldn't and so had to borrow Jazz's car whenever they came around.
"Oh, I'll get that for you!" an unfamiliar voice said.
"Thanks!" one of the agents replied, and soon, their footsteps changed. From what had to be concrete to indoor flooring, and the light, while still around, noticeably dimmed. There was vague noise of human activity, but not a whole lot of talking, or at least, no talking that he could make out.
They walked for a bit before the cage was set down again. Danny didn't dare speak.
"Um...Can I help you?"
"Hey there, we're here to collect the million dollar reward for the million dollar ghost?" Agent K said. He dramatically pulled the blanket off, and Danny blinked as light suddenly hit him, and he took in the scenery. They were in? Some government building. It kinda looked like the mayor's office, but he wasn't entirely sure.
A front desk lady gave them a weird look as realization hit Danny. He had totally forgotten about Vlad's reward.
"Um, that reward was discontinued two years ago," she said. Agent K stared in disbelief.
"You're fucking with me."
The lady shook her head no.
"God damn it," Agent O cursed. "Can you double check?"
The lady was still staring at them, but shrugged. She typed on her keyboard for a few moments, before giving another shrug. She turned the computer screen to them.
"Yeah, see? Discontinued two years ago. The man who placed the reward said he didn't want the ghost anymore," she replied.
"How come you guys didn't say anything?" Agent K demanded to know.
"We relayed it to the news," she replied. "It was published in the Amity Park Times."
"Nobody reads the newspaper anymore!" Agent O scowled. He looked at Danny, and he exhaled deeply, opened the cage. "Get out."
Danny didn't move. This had to be a trick, right? Agent O kicked the metallic sides. "Go on, get. Shoo."
"Um…..uh….okay?" Danny half-crawled, half-pulled himself out. Once out, he stretched a bit. God, that cage was cramped.
"This was a waste of two years," Agent K complained, crossing his arms angrily.
"So you guys spent like? What had to be millions of dollars just to claim a one million dollar reward?" Danny questioned. Agent O shrugged.
"Wasn't our money to spend," he explained. Agent K nodded in agreement.
Wasn't he still worth something cause of dissection science or something? Danny didn't dare really bring that up. He just decided to take his win, and he phased out of the building.
--
There is… a light.
No. More than one.
The smell of fire and the magic woods welcome her senses, her brown eyes finding a small campfire and several light spells, small balls floating around, protecting her from the darkness of the mysterious forest.
Luz’s head hurts, though.
She grunts, and once she tries to try and stand…
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
The voice, at first, alarms her and she’s ready to take Eda’s staff to defend herself. Except it’s not by her side, and when she realizes, Luz is not actually in danger.
A few feet away from her is the Golden Guard – Hunter, she remembers –, sitting by the campfire with a frowning but saddened gaze. His red eyes are dark in contrast to all the light surrounding them, and besides his absent golden mask, he’s not wearing his trademark white cloak, either.
… in fact, said cloak has been covering Luz all this time.
Before the girl could question it, the little cardinal lands in front of her, chirping in happiness.
“Hey, little guy,” Luz awes in spite of her pain, allowing her to sit – with a few struggles. She notices her arm is bandaged by some ripped white cloth, apparently from the cloak.
Unlike the little Rascal, Hunter doesn’t even look at her. He looks like he’s in too deep in the fire, seeing things no one else can.
“Wh… What happened?” Luz asks, unsure.
Hunter refuses to take his eyes off the flames; he seems to hug his knees tighter.
“Kikimora found us in the woods when we tried to escape,” he replies. “Let’s just say, she was less than happy to see us.”
Bits and pieces come back to Luz, having her recall they were on a mission together; as much as she still didn’t trust him, she couldn’t quite refuse when Hunter had gone all the way to the Owl House to ask for her help, in the middle of the night, to fight off the Emperor’s Coven from eradicating the few wild magic there still is.
“Did- Did we at least take some of the wood with us?” Luz wonders, searching for her bag.
Hunter looks down. “No.”
Luz stares at him sadly.
“Sorry,” she mutters.
“… it doesn’t matter.”
“What do you mean? T-They were going to destroy it-!”
“Kikimora almost killed you!”
The tone of anger and frustration in his voice shuts Luz for good. Maybe she’s still a little doozy, but she swears she might even see Hunter’s eyes glowing thanks to the light spells.
He takes a deep breath, however, and looks far away into the dark forest.
“We barely got out of there alive,” Hunter rephrases, his voice noticeably a lot quieter, as if afraid the world might hear. “And then, when she had me cornered, you”— his hands clutch his sleeves —“you jumped in to save me.”
Luz remembers.
She replays the entire scene in her head, and she sees herself stepping in. Despite all the conflicting thoughts, Luz did not hesitate; she yelled and took the blow, and that was the last thing she saw before blacking out.
The teenage girl can’t help but hear the conflict in his words. Hunter sounds guilty and confused. Then she realizes. The white cloak still protecting her, her bandaged arm, the light spells illuminating her view…
No one has ever gone out of their way to protect him.
Knowing Lilith, Luz is aware the Emperor’s Coven is hell. Imagine then, how it must be for a teenage boy who could’ve been a normal student at Hexside, being forced to work for Belos. Luz might only see it through Hunter’s scars and his short-tempered and distant attitude, but… truly, the Emperor is not a merciful man.
It’s all he must’ve learned.
And yet he’s so desperate to get out, that he told Luz about his life, he reached out to her… and now, he’s taking care of her. This isn’t a joke, nor a plan.
Hunter must be very confused.
Luz has… so many thoughts. Strange ones. Quite usual for a human living in the Boiling Isles, really.
The little Rascal flies over to Hunter’s shoulder for comfort. The boy might flinch at first, but he relaxes his body. Luz smiles in support, while the other hides half of his face in his arms.
“Hey,” she says, scooting a little closer to him, “thanks for looking after me.”
Hunter finally snaps his head at her, and his face… becomes as red as the cardinal chirping.
“I-I—” He coughs a little too violently, “W-Well, what else could I’ve done? I couldn’t just leave you there, after I asked for your help! I mean- we still have our truce, remember?”
“Well yeah, but…” Luz gestures at the light spells that join them. “I think there’s some light inside you, after all.”
After a few seconds, Hunter groans, “That was terrible.”
Luz giggles along with the Rascal. The boy sighs it out.
“In any case, we’ll have to stay here for the night. You’re not in any condition to fly all the way back to the Owl House,” Hunter observes her, with a speck of worry. He blushes again and avoids her eyes. “Early morning, we’ll get out of here.”
Luz hums. “Roger!”
“… my name is Hunter.”
“Nevermind.”
He shrugs. “I made sure to leave traps near us. I had to use some papers of yours, though.”
“Wow, someone’s becoming a pro already?” She smirks.
“I-It’s not that hard,” Hunter scoffs, “but yeah… I’ve been practicing when I can.”
“Too bad you can’t come to my glyph lessons. I’ve been teaching Eda.”
He raises an eyebrow. “The Owl Lady?”
“Mm-hmm,” Luz grins. “You could learn a lot more from me.”
Surprisingly, Hunter smiles back. “I already do.”
The girl admits, he looks good smiling. Wait.
Noticing that, he returns to his serious persona.
“You should rest now,” Hunter advises, “the healing potion I gave you might take a while to have effect.”
“Okay,” she yawns as soon as he says it. How convenient.
As soon as she lies down, Luz watches Hunter not following his advice at all.
“Well, aren’t you gonna rest too?”
“I don’t need sleep.”
Luz frowns. “Your eyebags beg to differ.”
Hunter hisses silently, like a grumpy cat.
“Hey, we’ve had a long day, some hours of sleep won’t hurt you,” she insists.
“I can’t let my guard down again,” Hunter says firmly. He faces away from her. “I can’t ever lose focus.”
She would’ve teased him more, but it wouldn’t feel right.
“… I’ll be okay,” Luz reassures him. “You made sure we’re safe; they’ll think twice before getting to us again.”
The sixteen-year-old boy holds a very long stare, mentally trying to trust her words. Luz smiles at him with support.
“Right,” he sighs. “You win.”
Luz is, admittedly, kind of surprised he’s complying, but he must be really tired. When does he even get to rest?
Hunter lies down beside her, though he keeps his distance. It allows the Rascal to sit between them, and Luz pets the adorable little bird. As for Hunter, he turns around and she only finds his back.
“Hey, um, do you want your cloak back?” Luz asks.
“You need it more than I do. It’s cold out here.”
“You sure? Aren’t you cold, too?”
“Not really. I’ll be fine.”
“Okay…” Luz hugs the white cape close, and quickly smirks, “I might not give it back though. I’m a known heat stealer.”
Even when she doesn’t see his face, the girl can tell he’s rolling his eyes.
“Whatever. Go to sleep.”
She snorts.
Although the Boiling Isles are not generally peaceful, there’s… quite a beauty to it. Even when she’s being hunted by the evil Emperor himself, this might be one of the few moments of peace Luz’s had since arriving here.
Ironically, with the guy she once hated. She’s not too sure how to feel about him yet… but he’s really just a kid, forced into a destiny that is not his own. He’s really trying to come out of his shell, and it’s pretty sweet.
Luz might lean a little to check if he’s asleep – as it turns out, he’s already sleeping like a rock. Who knows how much he needed it.
She smiles and soon joins him, guarded by his newfound magic.
Note
I have a headcanon that Billy doesn"t really know how to apologize like most people do. To him, the words are kind of empty so he just does things for people instead. Things like replacing all of the dishes with better quality ones for the Byers, making the girliest clothes Max hates disappear and replaced with things she likes, a new slingshot showing up in Lucas's locker, breaking into a car to fix it. Steve is weirdly charmed by it.
These may both be you? But here’s a combo since they’re p much the same idea
anonymous asked: Billy has forgotten how to actually connect with people so he shows affection through acts of chaotic good, like planting catnip all over the yard of the lady who allergic for yellomg at Max or breaking into a car so he can fix the engine. Steve figures out Billy is the one doing all these oddly kind things but he is still kind of intimidated by the blonde so instead of thanking him out right he just leaves things like cigarettes and baked good for him in his car. Have fun with that one!
This got pretty long so I put some of it under the cut.
-
Billy didn’t believe in the words I’m sorry.
They just didn’t make sense  to him. He had never heard the words when someone actually meant them, and fuck knows he’s never actually meant those words before.
But that does not mean there aren’t things in his life he regrets.
For example: beating the shit outta Steve Harrington.
He felt like absolute fucking garbage about it.
Harrington hadn’t deserved that shit. Billy was just runnin’ hot that night, and Harrington had been unlucky enough to have bad timing.
But he didn’t know how to fix it.
So he started leaving snacks in Steve’s locker.
He noticed how he would always be giving his friends the food off his fucking plate, so he would shove granola bars, candies, even made him a sandwich one day.
He watched as Steve would eat whatever it was Billy had left for him, just fuckin’ chowed down without question.
He would look into classes, find out where Steve sat and leave little treats on his desk.
“Mr. Harrington, I think you may have a secret admirer.” Steve flushed a little at the cupcake, and shoved it into his mouth in two bites at the beginning of history class, but he wasn’t gonna look a gift horse in the mouth, so to speak, and figured whenever this chick came forward, he would thank her for being so thoughtful, and let her down gently.
-
After leaving Harrington alone with all his snacks, Billy set his sights on his other regret.
He had Max hadn’t always fought and bickered. True, Billy wasn’t the warmest, when they first met, but once he got his car they would drive around together a lot. He’d take her to the arcade and the boardwalk. They both didn’t like being home too much.
So when Billy’s informed he’ll be watching Max for the weekend while Neil takes Susan to the city, he forms a little plan.
There’s one Chinese restaurant in Hawkins. It’s totally not authentic, not like the dim sum they used to get wandering around San Fransisco, but they had steamed pork buns and Billy picked up eight.
He let Max do whatever she wanted that weekend, figured they would have better luck with one another if they both acted like outdoor cats, coming and going as they pleased, but come Sunday evening, all the pork buns were gone, and there was an unopened pack of cigarettes on his nightstand.
-
Regret number three: Lucas Sinclair.
Billy probably felt the most fucked up over this kid.
He’d gone after him, a fucking child, in his blind rage.
He had figured that out when he came to on the floor of that weird house, sitting up empty and alone, realizing I’m just like Neil.
He had seen all those kids with their nerdy toys, went out to RadioShack, early Sunday morning, leaving with a light wallet and a new idea.
Dustin was arguing with Mike over the realism of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, like there was anything realistic about it.
Lucas rolled his eyes, opening his locker, his mouth dropping open when he saw something inside.
He pulled the bag out, peering inside.
There were six brand new walkie talkies inside.
They were better than the ones they already used, had further range and more channels.
Everyone went silent.
“Um, these aren’t mine.”
Max’s eyes went wide. She snatched something up from the top shelf of Lucas’s locker.
The new Wrist Rocket had a note attached to it. She knows this handwriting, but couldn’t place it.
Enjoy the new gear. Don’t quit saving the world.
“Do you think they’re from Steve?”Max furrowed her brows at the note.
And then everything clunked into place.
“Maybe.”
The boys were tearing into the new walkies.
She got two cokes from the vending machine at lunch, handing one quietly to Billy when she got in his car after school.
-
Billy doesn’t really know what he’s doing here.
He had driven Max to one of her nerdy little friend’s houses, and somehow he got roped into staying? He doesn’t even remember.
But now he’s standing with a short kind woman, in the exact kitchen he beat the shit out of Harrington in, with Steve himself leaning against the other wall, watching the kids like some kinda hawk.
Billy’s hands were shaky, and he inserted himself into washing dishes from dinner.
He noticed most of them had chips, and all of them were mismatched. He put them away quietly, and drove to the nearest home goods store he could find.
Ceramic plates didn’t run too much, and he got a nice set of three different sizes, twelve plates of each size, light blue like the one he broke.
He left them on the porch, parked his car down the road a ways.
He rang the doorbell, sprinting and diving into the bushes before anyone can see him.
He watched as one of the sons, the one his age, the one in his English literature class, opened the door, his brow furrowing at the box of new plates.
“Um, Mom? Somebody left us a set of plates?”
He closed the door, but the took the plates with him.
-
Billy was sitting on the lawn, had just finished raking up all the damn leaves, and was taking a well-earned smoke break as he watched Max skating up and down the street, practicing her kickflips and ollies.
She cut into the driveway across the street, the only one on the entire block that was well paved, no cracks in the cement.
“Get out of here!” Max started as Mrs. Reynolds, a mean old woman was shouting through her screen door. “You little hooligan! You’re going to leave marks!”
Max bit her lip, trying not to laugh as she boarded back over to their house, standing next to Billy.
“I’ll be having a word with your father!” She rolled her eyes as Billy ground his jaw.
Cat nip was way more expensive than Billy was expecting, but he bought plenty of packages, returning home just past sunset.
He waited until about three in the morning, when Mrs. Reynolds’ sprinklers had finally turned back off before he climbed out his window, spreading the cat nip through her yard.
He flipped her house the bird.
Max was awed at the cats the next morning as Billy drove them both to school.
There must’ve been at least a hundred.
“Isn’t Mrs. Reynolds allergic?” Billy tried not to laugh.
“Damn. That sucks for her.”
-
Billy was sitting on the hood of his car, reading one of his lit books while he waited for Max to get out of her nerd club.
He startled a little bit when someone knocked on the hood.
And it was Harrington, smiling sheepishly at Billy.
“The Byers got some new plates last night. You know anything about that?” Billy tracked the thin scar on Steve’s head. It disappeared into his hairline. Billy wonders how long he had sat in front of a mirror, picking glass out of his thick hair.
“Who’re the Byers?” Steve huffed a laugh.
-
Max was standing in front of the mirror looking like a grumpy old cat.
Susan had bought her a lovely new dress, and Max fucking hated it. Susan was fussing over it, saying I ordered it from the Sears catalog! and can you believe it was only fifteen dollars?
Billy slipped a five and a ten into Susan’s purse later that day, taking the dress to the Goodwill downtown.
He found Max a couple crappy t-shirts there, bands she would hum to on the radio, shit like Journey and Foreigner, and slid them into her closet where the dress used to be.
She wore one the next day, blinking slowly at him over breakfast.
He avoided all eye contact.
-
Steve has long legs.
this was of course something Billy always knew, but watching him stalk in all his righteous fury down the street towards the high school really solidified that fact for Billy.
He was stomping, his strides long as he hustled to class. Billy thought about offering him a ride, didn’t think they were there yet.
Billy found himself in Steve’s driveway later that night, popping the hood of Steve’s dead car and searching over everything with a flashlight.
Billy rolled his eyes.
Steve had probably always paid someone else when his car broke down, didn’t realize if your oil was low, your car wouldn’t work.
Billy kept a few cans in his trunk, refilled the bad boy for Steve, making sure that was it.
He found nothing else wrong and Steve pulled into the school parking lot the next morning.
Billy could feel Steve staring at him when he walked into school.
He found Steve sitting on his car at lunch, holding the sandwich Billy had snuck into his locker, and a loaf of bread wrapped in cling film. .
Billy raised an eyebrow.
“I saw you last night.” His cheeks went hot. “Thanks for fixing my car. And all the snacks and stuff. And for the Byers’ plates. And for all the stuff with Max.”
“Nothin’s happened with Max.” Steve appraised him for a moment.
“She said you’re being nicer.” He held up the bread. “Homemade banana bread. Made it while you were being not at all stealthy fixing my car.” He smiled at Billy, one a’ those perfect sunshine smiles Billy had only ever seen Steve direct towards his kids.
“I just changed your oil. Car won’t run if you don’t got oil.” Steve furrowed his brow.
“My gas tank was full. I had just filled it.”
“Nah Pretty Boy, oil. It’s different.” And Billy took a deep breath. “Could show you, if you like. Teach you some basic car shit. How to jump, how to change a tire.”
Steve beamed at him.
“I’d like that! I don’t know shit about fixing cars. Always figured it would go way over my head.”
“It’s pretty easy. There’s usually only a few major things that go wrong in nice cars that are easy fixes. You’ll figure it out quick.” Steve slid off his car, and Billy lamented that for a minute, liked how Steve looked perched on Billy’s car, wondered how he’d look in the passenger seat, in the backseat-
Steve pushed the bread into Billy’s hands.
“Y’know, I forgive you. For that night.” Billy tightened his jaw. Steve’s eyes were a little green in the sun. “There was a lot goin’ on, and I was being sketchy. I don’t hold it against you.”
“I, uh, thanks, I guess. I’m sorry, about it.” Steve smiled at him again, the corners of his eyes crinkling just a bit.
“Yeah, I know.” Steve took a bite of his sandwich, his cheeks all cute and full. “And I’m more of a ham and cheese fan.” Billy rolled his eyes at Steve, taking with his mouth full of turkey sandwich.
“Sorry man, you get what Susan buys.” Steve laughed, his mouth still full. Billy was uncomfortably endeared by it.
“Don’t be surprised to find some lasagna on your porch one night soon.” And Steve winked at him, walking backwards towards the school. “You’re not so bad, Billy.”
“Tryin’ not to be.” Steve gave him a stupid little finger gun. Billy’s heart melted.
“You’re doin’ a good job.” And Steve set off back into the school.
contact names
spencer reid x reader
synopsis: a love story told through contact names
word count: 1.5k
———
“hi dr. reid, or u-um spencer? is that all right? can i call you by your first name? i was wondering if i could get your number, so we could have a line of communication and all”
you stood in front of him, smiling brightly. this was your first jet ride of your first case. you believed first impressions were important, and a little more important when that first impression was with him
you’d gone to the same college as him, given you went around 12 years after he did, and his name was always brought up. when you were a criminal justice major and cal tech, spencer reid was a name that was hard to not know. you studied his analysis, you read his doctoral papers, and you admired him from a far. just an alumni, smart one, cute one at that, but just an alumni, someone to learn from
okay so maybe you had a crush on him, but of course you didn’t that was ridiculously, you’d never even met the man
but there you were, somehow you fought your way through school, the academy, and the baus hiring process, and you went from admiring learner, to colleague
he was beautifully perched on the edge of the jet seat, staring down at the chess set, playing against himself
“oh hello, and spencer is quite fine. just appreciative to be called anything other than morgan’s chosen nick name of ‘pretty boy’. i mean i guess it is a compliment? well it feels degrading in a sense, i digress,,”
he chuckled awkwardly
when he was nervous, he rambled, and you made him nervous
he and garcia had thoroughly researched you before you had joined
you were top of your class at cal-tech, top of your class at the academy, your published work was astonishing for someone your age, you had numerous letters of recommendation from highly regarded professors
you were nothing short of excellent, and nothing short of beautiful
long hair with bangs that perfectly framed your face, dimples on both of your cheeks, a smile that could light up any room you walked into
so needless to say, spencer already had a crush on you before you walked through the bau doors
“ and oh i’m regarding that phone number, let me...”
he shuffled through his satchel, files, books, tea bags and granola bar wrapper being pushed a side in search of his business card
“shoot, i can’t find it, here”
he pulled his phone out
“why don’t your enter your number, and i’ll text you so that you can save the contact as well?”
“oh perfect!”
you grabbed his phone typing in your number, and handing it back
“t-thank you!”
you turned to walk away
“oh wait! could you spell your last name for me? i wouldn’t want to get it wrong”
you spelled it out, he typed in the letters into his phone
now you were officially in his phone as plainly
“y/n l/n”
you guys quickly went from colleagues to friends
ever since that first text that spencer sent to share his number, you two were inseparable
carpooled to work and back
sat next to each other on the jet
office spaces next to each other
coffee “dates”
hotel slumber parties during cases
friday night game night traditions
endless conversations
book recommendations
and of course
a blinding amount of romantic tension
a couple months into you working at the bau you were sitting on spencer’s desk, him reclined in his chair
“i’m telling you! i’m amazing at gin rummy”
“mhm okay”
you hit him playfully with a file
“mhm? what is that supposed to mean? do you doubt my skills?”
“no not at all, i just know i’d crush you”
you raised an eyebrow
“okay dr reid? you wanna go?”
he pulled a deck of cards out of his drawer
“i’ll deal”
he said, shuffling the cards
7 rounds later, you had beat him by 27 points
“HA!”
he looked down in defeat
“HA HA HA!!!!”
“i let you win”
“UNTRUE UNTRUE! you knocked and were so confident that you had won, but guess what? I HAD GIN” you laughed un controllably while spenxer rolled his eyes
“they don’t call me y/n “gin rummy god” l/n for nothing!”
he perched his face in his hands, staring up at your giggly face that still remained seated on his desk
“who calls you that”
“everyone! and now you have to!”
he laughed, pulled out his phone went to his contacts
he typed in
“y/n “pretty okay at gin rummy” l/n”
he showed you the screen
“happy?”
you squinted in to read it
“very”
———-
it didn’t take very much longer until you and spencer were dating
it happened one day on the jet, you were flying home and while sitting next to spencer instinctually laid your head on his shoulder
that wasn’t too abnormal, but spencer bent his neck down to kiss you softly on the forehead
you looked at him
he looked at you
finally an action that couldn’t be written off as platonic
with scared eyes he looked at you, looking like he had just committed a grave crime
as he had forgotten that you two were not dating, you had forgotten that the entire team was also on that jet
so you grabbed his face and kissed him, kissed him long, gently wrapping your arms around his neck, until you heard an “ahem” from derek
“finally”
he laughed, you and spencer just stared at each other an also burst into laughter, and from then on, you were his girl, his love, his object of adoration, his lady
—-
3 months into your relationship, spencer had gotten a concussion
he was okay, just unable to fly
you were about to board the jet, face buried in spencers shoulder
“i don’t have to go spencer”
“yes, yes you do”
“i don’t want to leave you”
“y/n i will survive, and it’s not like i’m gonna be alone in the office, i’ll be consulting virtually through garcia”
you pressed a kiss to his lips
“okay, i’ll miss you”
“miss you too”
you let go of his hand and jogged up to emily who was boarding the plane
“you two are vile” she said laughing
“not funny!”
-
the case was tough, even tougher with spencer not around
though he and garcia made quite the duo
“hey spencer could you call y/n for me? i’m on this line with derek”
“yeah of course”
he pressed your contact on his favorite list
your name saved as “m’lady”
garcia noticed immediately
“m’lady?! M’LADY??? if you two aren’t the cutest pair of 18th century literature nerds i don’t know what is”
he giggled, you picked up the phone
“spence?”
garcia started shouting
“Y/N YOU SUcK! YOU AND YOUR PERFECT ADORABLE RELATIONSHIP WITH CUTE LITTLE CONTACT NAMES! HAVE SOME MERCY FOR THE SINGLE PEOPLE HUH?”
you started to laugh
“garcia do you have that list of names i asked for?”
——-
4 years, 1 built in library, and 3 cats later
spencer knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you
it was a warm saturday, and you and spencer went to the museum of natural sciences
you were standing in front of the aquatic birds exhibit
you were reading the swan description
“swan, largest waterfowl species of the subfamily anserinae, family anatidae. most swans are classified in the genus cygnus. swans are gracefully long-necked, heavy-bodied, big-footed birds that glide majestically when swimming and fly with slow wingbeats and with necks outstretched. swans mate for life, and can actually die from heart break if their partner dies, interesting”
“yeah, swans are usually a symbol of love and marriage”
“how sweet, such romantic birds”
spencer took your hand
“i’m gonna love you forever, just like these swans”
he kissed your forehead
“forever and ever spence?”
he got down on one knee
“forever and ever”
-
you wanted to wait until the perfect moment to tell the team, refraining from wearing your ring until you two could figure it out, but by an unfortunate accident, they secret was out
“hey y/n, i didn’t get a chance to save your number earlier, would you mind?”
an officer at the local precinct was asking you, as to have a more direct way of contact
the entire team was sitting around a table as you typed your number into the officers phone
“oh and y/n i’m sorry how do you spell your last name”
“r-e-i-d, reid”
you froze
in most of your circles you already started going by spencer’s last name, this detail slipped your mind
derek was the first to say something
“WHAT”
then emily
“YOU TWO?”
you and spencer looked at each other
“okay, we’re in engaged”
the entire team started hugging and cheering, the rest of the precinct joining in
“so when were you planning to tell us?” hotch asked with a raised eyebrow
you laughed
“would you believe me if i said that contact name incident was planned?”
-memoire 1
THE sweet mellow singing of the birds filled her eardrums as the wind caressed the leaves gently creating a soft and calming melody.
sighing in contentment, the girl squinted her eyes after looking up at the torquoise horizon above her. the rays of sun kissed her skin tenderly as she bask under the most huge star in the milky way.
no matter how many times she had been in this place–.... nostalgic emotions keeps spiraling within her. it was almost as if it was signals to solve a riddle she hasn't even heard.
“Onee-san?”
as she tilted her head to look over the person who called out to her, h/c tresses wafted in the air as she beams at her brother crinkling her eyes in the process.
“Chifuyu.”
blowing a breath, Chifuyu walked towards his sister. “you're here again. what do you like so much about this place?”
grinning at the young teen and parting her lips to speak she said,
“the ambiance.”
and something else I cannot fanthom.
“ah...”
“what made you come here?” questioning the blonde male who is also her little brother that is always out was now beside her.
why?
“i was just looking for you and i thought you'd be here.” he grinned.
a chuckle passed from the young lady's lips. “you know me so well. sometimes i don't even know myself.” she says as she sat down under the shade of the tree.
being silenced by his older sibling's statement, chifuyu looked down at the peaceful expression on lady's face before he sighed softly before taking a seat beside her.
“sometimes what we know is nothing compared to what we don't. and of course I know so well! I'm your only handsome brother!” he huffed yet a playful smile was tugged on his lips.
“wow. did the wind got stronger? i felt like it did.” she teased and poked his cheeks.
“nee-san!”
giggling at her brother's whine and grumbling, she leaned her head on his shoulder while her narrowed eyes stared at the rustling leaves.
“today the sky is blue as well. it haven't rained for a while now.”
“it will rain sooner or later, nee-san. sunny days are better anyways.”
y/n only hummed and played with chifuyu's pale slender fingers. while plucking the grass, a drop of water trickled down the girls (s/c) cheeks.
looking up at the sky that was once blue, dark clouds hovered over it and the rain started to pour. the siblings stood up and ran down the hill laughing and giggling to themselves.
“i told you it would rain!” chifuyu shouted over the loud rain.
“it's cold!” despite saying that the girl was laughing in joy.
droplets of water dripped from the two young teens as they entered their apartment. no doubt they would swipe the floor down later after the mess they made.
y/n took a warm bath to soothe her cold skin but when she was out of the bathroom already in her new clothes and drying her hair with a towel–... the rain was no more.
“na– why was it so short?” asking herself she opened the window and extended her arm but she didn't feel any water droplets.
the rain had really stopped like it just a passing storm blown by the wind. she sighed in disappointment, she was ready to roll on her bed and stuff her face with food because that's what she usually do when it rains.
but maybe not today.
the streets dried up pretty fast and so is her brain. she couldn't even think of a single damn thing that would make her day productive. and it was just three in the afternoon.
chifuyu was out again leaving her behind. she was bored out of her mind so she just lied down on the couch not noticing she fell asleep.
“Hey, are you okay?”
fluttering her eyelids, she looked around the room. she swore somebody had whispered that to her....
while pondering who that person could be the front door opened revealing chifuyu.
“hm? nee-san did you perhaps sleep on the couch?” chifuyu asked.
nodding her head she was about to ask her brother if someone else entere the apartment but that would be a fanciful question would it? since only her and chifuyu has access to the apartment.
“um, are you going out again?” asking quietly, she patiently waited for her brother's answer.
“yes. we've got a meeting.” he simply responded.
y/n's eyes sparkled as she jumped from the sofa. “take me! i'm freaking boredddd!”
“right, it's been long since you've gone out. let's get going.”
letting out a gleeful 'yes' she hurriedly  wore her flats with a smile. god, just how long was she stuck here? aside from the hill she hasn't really gone out with chifuyu ever since–....
her brows shot up immediately after a realization hit her. ever since when? when was the last time she went out of the apartment into the depths of shibuya?
a sudden pain shooted across her skull. this happens when she tries to remember things there's this pounding headache on her skull that makes her drop the subject immediately.
but this one–.... how can she forget? since when did she last headed to the mall? to the amusement park? what the hell is going on?
how can she forget?
“chifuyu.... did something happen..?” asking mindlessly her brows creased while she pursed her lips.
chifuyu who was about to start the engine of his bike– stiffened as he looked at the lady who was clutching her head. a hint of nervousness and guilt weighed on his chest.
“u-um, what happened? what are you talking about?” feigning ignorance he started the engine and avoid y/n's scrutinizing stare.
“i–... nevermind. i was just wondering.” ignoring chifuyu's obvious attempt to avoid the topic she didn't press futher and instead mounted his bike.
none of them talked to each other even after arriving at Musashi Shrine where the meeting commenced.
y/n who was still pondering about her little brother's weird behavior sighed in defeat, she couldn't help but look up at the dark sky.
night. where the sky is covered by the blanket of darkness but the moon alone could suffice as a source of light together with the wide variety of stars that twinkled across the horizon.
when y/n was kid she loved star gazing by herself on their lawn. the stars always fascinated her. but the truth is she's always fascinated by twinkling lights. because in her mind even if a small amount of beam something emits out from nowhere is a symbol of light in the dark.
a light that would everyone's salvation as they say. but you know? not all light comes to save you nor is willing to let you live.
a commotion from upfront snapped her attention away from the stars. something seems to be happening there. y/n doesn't have to take a gander but her curious ass made her.
the lady was never a fan of violence nor does she suggest to use it on other poeple, but that violence led her here–
it lead her to a discovery that shook her small and quiet world. and as reckless as she is, she jumped unto the scene not minding if she got hurt.
a fist stopped an inch away from her face as she stood her ground and raised her gaze but what she saw is something she didn't expect.
“wha—”
rendered silenced by the same glowing (e/c) orbs that was gazing back at her– what she didn't know that her eyes also glowed into those of deep brown.
everybody saw that.
a sharp burning sensation traveled through her arm. a definite meaning that she had met her other half that they also call a soulmate.
“nee-san!”
being pulled by chifuyu who hid her behind his back, y/n was still utterly silent letting the fact sink in that she had already found her soulmate.
raising her arm, the birthmark had completely gone black! there was also a date written under it. so it really did happen and it wasn't a trick of light?
i found my soulmate.
she was happy but at the same time confused. as to why chifuyu was acting this way. like he was protecting from some kind of danger.
“mikey, am I finally getting fired from ruining your precious meeting?”
“I'm going to Valhalla!” he declared.
Valhalla? who's that?
“you don't want any troublemakers do you, mikey? I'll go ahead and quit. starting today former 1st division captain, baji keisuke is an enemy of toman.”
after that speech he walked away leaving the shrine silent. y/n who was curious quickly ran after him despite chifuyu calling after her.
“nee-san!”
looking from left to right, she spotted the male getting ready to ride his bike so she called his attention.
“hey! wait!”
running to his direction, the young teen that mounted his bike frowned.
“do you need something?”
“no, i–” her vocals were cut of when the fellow interrupted her.
“great, now leave me alone.” rudely shaking her off, he started his engine but since y/n was persistent she blocked his ways with arms wide apart.
“i just wanted to know you—”
“didn't you heard what i said earlier—”
“i did! now, don't be rude and talk to me normally!” she demanded.
the male gave her a blank look before he scoffed. “i don't need to listen you you.”
“sure, you do. we're soulma—”
flinching under his sharp glare, y/n sealed her lips shut after getting glared at.
“don't use that bullshit on me.”
bullshit? feeling a pang of bitterness lace on her heart, the young lass face twisted in a frown. does he want reject her as his soulmate? it is not unheard of but still– it damn hurts.
baji who noticed the glum look on the lady's face, he sighed. “oi, woman. hop in.” he gestured the seat behind him using his head.
y/n's glowering face switched immediately into a bright one. without hesitation she mounted his bike.
“are you an idiot?” asking after driving away from the shrine, the male took a quick glance at the girl behind him.
“you're rude, you know that?” she gave him a stiff smile while her eyebrows twitched.
not only he's rude– he's a freaking reckless driver! how come he drives like this?! this is overspeeding and offensive to the law! speeding over red headlights? both of them could end up in juvie for godness sake!
even so, the driver didn't seem to care about that. not that she particularly cares too– the thrill of something far-fetched from her daily routine makes her blood pump with excitement.
she feels at ease with baji too. she trust that the latter won't bring any harm to her despite meeting him for the very first time.
she would then remember what her parents would often say– 'stranger danger'. although those morals were cast aside due to a certain ebony haired male there something inside is her that's saying he wasn't just a stranger.
then what coud he be?
he is her soulmate. her other half that's why she doesn't feel any danger from him. as if she can take any risk when she's with him.
eyebrows quirking in a baffled frown, she looked up at the familiar apartment complex where they stopped.
“this is where i live....?” s/c fingers pointed clulessly at the building.
baji casted a quick glance at her. “of course, dumbass. hurry up.” walking ahead without a care, couldn't he even wait for the poor girl?
and what are they doing here anyways? well, there's only one possibility she can think of and that is baji keisuke lives here. in the same building as her.
she doesn't really know the tenants living here that's why she's a bit confused. it was partly her fault. y/n had been stuck inside apartment for god knows how long and the only place she goes to when she's out– the hill.
that's the only place she can remember heading to.
“you live on the fourth floor?”
“what do you think?”
sighing at the lad's sarcastic tone she shook her head and just followed behind him.
baji didn't even knock at the door and he just entered. “ma, I'm home!”
“tadaima– who's the pretty lady? oh.....” her eyes widened after seeing the girl behind her son.
y/n saw middle aged woman popped out of the kitchen with an apron tied around her body. she looks familiar.
“she's my– how do I say this?” exhaling through his mouth, baji ruffled his long hair.
“oh, she's your soulmate! wow, that's very fortunate of you.” a small smile was plastered on her face.
“uhm, I'm sorry for the intrusion.” y/n bowed infront of the woman.
the lady only waved her hand in the air. “it's fine, dear! take a seat.” she gestured at the sofa.
silently following her request, she sat down. it's... weird for her to suddenly meet baji's mother no? so the reason he brought her here is for y/n to meet his mother?
no complaints here, but he really is something else, too different from her.
“so, when did you two meet?”
baji's mother placed a juice infront of her and took a seat beside baji who was sitting on the other side.
“uh... just this night ma'am.”
“my, you can call me 'aunty' or 'ma', y/n.” offering the young lady a kind smile, kasumi stared at the girl with h/l h/c locks and vibrant e/c optics.
“uh, i prefer to stick with aunty if it's okay with you.”
“yes, yes! of course, dear y/n.”
being weirded out by the elderly woman's fond treatment as if she had known y/n for decades.
“now, tell me. did my stupid son forced you to come here? or even worse– kidnapped you?”
y/n's lips parted. how the hell did this get to kipnapping? shaking her head 'no' she smiled at the woman.
“actually, i was the one who followed him here.” she says looking down at the juice.
“oh, my son did something good for once.” she clapped her hands yet her eyes were the exact opposite of her delightful tone.
“ma–”
“this little rascal here is a wild and reckless guy. so, i want you too extend you patience with him, y/n.”
sighing softly, she gave them a closed-eyed smile. “of course, aunty.”
“ahem, i-i forgot i was cooking something. excuse me.” kasumi stood up while discreetly wiped the corner of her eyes.
before the woman entered the kitchen, the tears in the corner of her eyes didn't escape y/n's sight.
so many weird things happened today. muttering inside her head she gave her attention to the person sitting in front of her.
“what are you looking at?”
the girl pouted at his rude tone. “you really get on my nerves, you know.”
raising a dark brow, the corners of baji's lips curved up. “i don't think so.”
while staring at baji, the h/c headed girl felt another pound on her head. her headaches are reoccuring again. was there a specific reason for it?
“what now?”
baji drummed his fingers on his knees before he spoke. “for now, let the truth sink in, y/n.”
“....the truth?”
“yes, for starters let me introduce myself properly. the name's baji keisuke.” he offered a hand with a smirk.
the girl shook his hand with a smirk of her own. oh, how interesting this would be.
“y/n. matsuno y/n. nice to meet you, baji-kun.” she uttered.
and that's where it started. the chaotic journey of two teens seeking each other's happiness and contentment. a long and disastrous escape from reality.
