me and the work girlies having socialist convos at the end of the day
Tumblr media
#funny as hell like. we finished our workload about half an hour early#because they've hired so many of us temps. who are improving at the job each day#that there's just been less to spread around#yet bc work culture is dumb our manager suddenly told everyone to push the carts we'd already sorted#into a square in the middle of the floor? which we've never done before#and the permanent staff had no idea why either. they were also confused but resigned#I passed one and said ''hey so is this just because we have 20 minutes of the shift left''#and she just laughed and shrugged and was like idk ask him lmaooo#definition of busywork#so we're all just standing around for 10 minutes until the manager starts calling people over to move... other stuff idk.#and I'm walking to join them when this small group of coworkers behind me goes HEY#you don't need to go. look he's got enough people and he's not looking stay heeere#so we just end up swapping stories about the managers giving us tips to process the conveyer faster#even tho we uhhh work SO hard already. :)#and one woman went ''I was thinking. ummm. I could go faster. but you gonna pay me more??? so I worked slower ❤️''#nothing but respect for us grunts here tho vs the management. I've never known a single person in the 3 weeks I've been here#to not come and help someone who looks busy on the opposite conveyer when theirs is slow#turns out people are naturally nice and helpful when you don't take advantage and try and make them work harder#bosses will never learn this <3

Fic Name: Kiss me?
Paring: Elle Greenaway x Reader
Words: 1009
Warnings: None :)
Content: Elle has a crush on you!
A/N: I miss writing Elle x Reader I haven’t in so long so so here you go!
——————————————————————-
Something that not a lot of people knew about Elle Greenaway was that she is extremely shy, although she would never admit to to anyone, she was, you found it cute, it was one of the many reasons why you fell for her.
When you joined the team, about a month after JJ did, you were the newbie, you took it hard because JJ clicked with everyone so she was the 'newbie that everyone liked' although everyone was nice to you, you just couldn't figure out a place to fit in.
"Hey, We're having a party in Rossi's later on tonight if you wanted to go" Elle said walking up to you with a gentle smile.
You looked around the room seeing everyone already in small groups and cliques "Uhh sure" you smiled back.
"I'll stay with you pretty lady don't worry" you bit your lip to try and cover up the fact that you were blushing because of Elle Greenaway.
"Now how could I refuse that offer" you winked at her as you turned away to stir your coffee, you knew how to flirt with women and you knew how to do it well, you used to your advantage most of the time; for free drinks at bars mostly but this one felt different, before you turned away you saw Elle's cheeks grow a cardinal colour a contrast of what was once a normal pink blush, before she quickly turned away which made you laugh.
"7pm is that okay?" you fake saluted "i'll pick you up love and be ready" the tone wasn't angry but it was just enough for you to pull yourself out of your thoughts of you being the one who will flirt with her all night.
"Sure" was all you could manage to get out, It took you until Elle was almost out of the room until you released she doesn't have your address. "Elle wait" you ran over to her "You don't know where I live." you said out of breath.
She held you up for a while to catch your breath "Don't you worry about that pretty girl, i'll find it"
"Stop calling me that" you blushed.
"Why? If I didn't know any better I would say it's because you're all flustered" Elle Flirted.
"Greenaway are you flirting with me right now?" you finally realised.
"Oh wow it only took you 10 months to realise that I have been"
"Oh If I had known before then we could've done this sooner" you leaned forward to kiss her.
"Y/N 1 Elle 0" Derek said as he passed you.
"You weren't supposed to see that Morgan” Elle laughed.
"Don't worry babygirl you're secret is safe with me" Morgan winked and you laughed as you hugged Elle's waist.
"So do you wanna come over later" You got slightly embarrassed as she didn't say anything "You know to get ready for Rossi's" you blurted out.
"Yes" she laughed as she stroked your hair smiling down at you, you instinctively smiled back.
"Okay, let's get back to work before people find us suspicious" you laughed as you grabbed her hand.
——————————————————————-
"Oh wow" you caught your breath "You look so good Greenaway" you found yourself eyeing up and down her black suit and matching black heels.
"You don't look so bad yourself Y/L/N" Elle smiled as she licked her red stained lips in awe of the black short thigh level silky dress you were wearing, paired with similar heels to Elle.
"People are going to think we're matching" you laughed after the realisation.
"That's a risk I'm willing to take" Elle shrugged.
You couldn't help but blurt something out that you've been dying to ever since you layed eyes on Elle as soon as she came over "Kiss me"
She smiled at you and made her way over to where you were standing, near the bottom of the stairs, this kiss lasted much longer than the one at work, it was incredible, it was passionate, immense and altogether beautiful "I could get use to this" Elle smiled into the kiss.
"Me too but Rossi's party started 20 minutes ago" You smiled checking both of your makeup to see if there was any stains that weren't supposed to be there.
——————————————————————-
JJ answered the door "Hey guys" she pulled you in for a hug "Party hasn't started yet so you're right on time" JJ acknowledged.
"Thanks Jayje" you hugged her and smiled.
"Hey Y/N can I talk to you for a minute" JJ enquired
"Yeah sure” you turned to Elle “I'll catch up with you later okay?" you persuaded Elle that you were going to be okay.
"So" she wriggled her eyebrows in excitement "You and Elle what's up with that" she smiled, you smiled back knowing she was just curious and she didn't mean any harm.
"You're not a profiler how did you figure that one out" you laughed.
"It doesn't need to take a profiler to figure out the relationship between you and Elle, you like her" JJ playfully shoved you.
"Okay fine maybe I do" you finally admitted.
"I knew it!" she shouted in a whisper "How long has this been going on for?" she questioned almost begging to hear more details.
"Our relationship is fairly new but I'm very happy" you smiled at her and you and JJ looked over to Elle who was now holding a wine glass talking about books with Spencer "I'm really happy" you repeated smiling.
"Hey what's going on over here" Elle walked over to us.
"JJ found us out the minute we walked through the door"
"But she's not a profiler" she turned to JJ "How did you figure that one out?" she asked cautiously.
"Elle I literally asked the same thing" you all laughed.
JJ shrugged "It doesn't need to take a profiler to figure out the relationship between the two of you" she repeated and shrugged. Elle wrapped her arm around your waist, you wrapped both of your arms around hers. You knew that this is exactly what you wanted.

-
"hi guys, im on my way to the jyp building right now" you speak into the vlogging camera.
"...where i'm meeting stray kids lee know sunbaenim to study a choreography for us to perform at the upcoming awardshow" you smile into the camera, holding a thumbs up as you try to conceal your nervousness.
You know that the vlog isnt going to be released until after the show so you dont have to worry about spoiling anything.
"I'll see you guys later" you wave into the camera before handing it back to your manager who lets you know that you'll be there in about 10 minutes.
The only thing you're worried about is meeting a certain very handsome main dancer you may or may not have been biasing since his debut, which was about six months before your group had theirs.
So naturally, when your group grew big with you as their maindancer, and the organizers of the awardshow suggested that you and minho get together for a collaboration stage, you freaked.
Once you pull up to the jyp building, you can make out dispatch paparazzi and roll your eyes.
Your manager just reminds you to ignore them before getting out and opening the door for you.
Quickly you grab your bag and pull your jackets hood over your head.
They start calling your name but you and your team are quick to be inside of the building.
The nice woman behind the front desk gives your manager acsess cards as you look around to see the young camera woman on your team is already pointing the vlog camera on you so you wave into the camera.
Outside you see a crowd of fans also waving and pointing their phones at you through the large glass windows so you also wave back at them; laughing when one of them sends you a flying kiss, so you send one back.
"lets go y/n" your manager speaks to you, and you nod, waving goodbye to the fans before disappearing from their eyes as you step into an elevator.
Inside the elevator you check yourself out in the large mirror, pulling back your hood and smoothing out your hair.
"how do i look?" You ask your manager at which she grins "you look good, relax"
You sigh and nod, clearing your throat as to avoid a voice crack later.
When the elevator doors open, you see the famous dance practice rooms, that are named after big musicians on each side of the hall.
The door to the Madonna room is open and your manager leads the way.
Once you walk in you see another camera pointed at you, minho is standing in the middle of the room.
He as well has a camera pointed at him, he smiles when you lock eyes and bows.
You bow back when he walks towards you; extending his hand, you shake it.
"I'm Minho, nice to meet you" he smiles, he looks even better in person you think.
He's wearing light makeup but you can see that his skin is smooth underneath and his eyes seem even bigger and spraklier in person.
"Y/n, hi, nice to meet you" you bow again, partly to hide your blushing face.
After a minute of somewhat awkward smalltalk you hand your jacket and bag to your manager and the choreographer positions the two of you.
You had already memorized your part of the dance from the video he sent you and minho (you're assuming), now you just had to practice it together.
He makes you stretch to warm up before starting the music to see how much the two of you know of the dance.
Everything goes smoothly and the choreographer praises the both of you.
"lets go ahead and try the lift, im assuming you didnt practice that yet?" He asks.
"no" minho shakes his head, you do as well.
"okay minho, you hold her here" he takes minhos hand and places it on your waist.
"and on the inner thigh so you can spin her better" he explains, your mind starts running though.
What if he feels your inner thigh fat, or even worse, what if you sweat excessively and he slips and drops you.
Your thoughts get disrupted when minho carefully wraps his arm around you to grap onto your thigh.
"is that okay?" He asks from behind you, the little hairs on your neck rising.
"yea" you nod.
"okay, on my count" the choreographer speaks up "one, two..three and up!"
You tense your body when you feel him lifting you, your arms raise on their own accord, legs stiffening to create an aesthetic sillouette.
"very nice" the choreographer claps after minho lets you back down.
"lets take a break" one of the jyp staff members announces.
"you were great" you feel minhos hand graze your arm, your head whips around.
"oh, thank you" you smile sheepishly "so were you" earning a grin from him.
"thanks" he nods, grabbing a bottle of water before giving you one as well.
"thanks" you say, opening it and taking a few sips.
He watches you for a second before doing the same.
"hey, you guys" a young jyp staff woman comes up to you "we're gonna do a little sit down q&a moment, to give the fans some more interaction alright?" she explains, leading you guys to sitdown on the large sofa in the back of the room.
She moves back behind the cameras "so we're gonna be really casual okay? Im gonna throw in some questions and you just answer them"
You and minho nod, looking at each other before looking back at her.
"okay, so have you ever met before?"
"uh- well" you look at minho, he nods, encouraging you to talk "we've seen eachother at music shows, when we were with our members but we never talked" you say.
Minho nods.
"What did you think when you heard of this collaboration?"
Minho starts "i was excited because i think y/n has great stage presence and is a very talented dancer, so i think i could learn a thing or two from her"
"oh, thank you" you huff, surpressing a giggle as you bow slightly.
"What about you, y/n?"
"Uhm- well i was a little scared to be honest because he's really talented himself" you look over at him, so see he's smiling onto the ground "but also because i've been a fan of his since skz debuted so..."
"really?"
-
After coming back to the dorm and your members pressing you for every detail of what it was like to meet him and dance with him, you hop straight in the shower.
The warm water prickles at your face before you turn around, letting it run down your back.
You cant stop thinking about the feeling of his hands on your body, they were so strong and warm.
Or the one part of the chorepgraphy where you grind back into him and feel his muscular thighs flexed against the back of your own.
Not to mention his pretty smile and plump rosy lips, you would bet everything that he's a phenomenal kisser.
Your hand is trailing down your body as you imagine it was his, gently running over your mound before dipping into your folds.
A whimper slips past your lips out of frustration, its been way to long since someone had his way with you.
The idol life doesnt always leave time for that, but you can imagine what it would be like if you let minho have his way with you.
Your fingers start rubbing cirlces into your clit as you imagine him being the one to do it to you; kissing down your neck with his plump lips before toying at your nipples with his tongue.
You feel the way your belly tightens when you tink about how he would talk dirty; you dont know what would turn you on more, him calling you a good girl or a filthy little slut.
Would he let you cum right now or drag it out so your could cum around his cock? Damn you bet he has a gorgeous cock, everything on that man has got to be perfect.
And the way his dancer hips would snap into you would definetly be the thing to push you over the edge.
Your head rolls back and you bite your lip as to not let out a sound when your orgasm finally hits.
Your legs quiver a little when you ride out your high.
It wasnt the most earthshattering orgasm you've ever experienced but it did its job in satisfying you a little.
Clean and dry again, you let yourself fall onto your bed, sighing before you climb underneath your sheets.
Grabbing your phone from your nighstand, you see a message from an unknown number pop up.
unknown number : hey y/n -received at 9:56 pm
unknown number : its minho :) -received at 9:57 pm
Your heart skips a beat when the second one pops up, slowly you slide the message and land in the chat.

minho: nice, meet me here around 6 then? -received at 10:08 pm
minho has shared a location
minho: its an old dance studio, i know the owner :) -recieved at 10:08 pm
you: alright, see you then :) -sent at 10:09 pm
minho: good night y/n :) -sent at 10:09 pm
Do you send a good night back?...no, that would be too much...right?
You sigh and drop your phone next to you on your bed, your fists rubbing at your eyes.
There is no way you'll be able to sleep the next two nights.
-
It has been getting warmer recently, so you are surprised when the weather turns its back on you and suddenly blows icy wind against your face.
And you thought you had chosen wisely when only putting on a hoodie over your shirt.
You check your phone to see that you arrived at minhos sent location, yet there is no dance studio in sight.
Shivering, you turn around to search for signs on doors when you hear the door behind you opening.
"hey, in here" minho grins when you stumble around.
You look up at the building and look down at him.
"hi" you smile, somewhaþ confusedly.
"come in" he holds the door open for you.
"this building looks like its gonna get torn down soon" you say, still shivering a little as you look at minho, who's only sporting grey sweatpants and a black tshirt.
"it is" minho nods, looking around "sadly, i love coming here" he adds before looking back at you.
"still cold?" he asks, approaching you before rubbing over your arms with his hands.
"ye-huh" you interrupt yourself, gulping harshly when his cologne creeps up your nose.
He grins "better?" You nod, forcing a smile "yea, thanks"
An hour later, you are deeply immersed in the dance when you stumble at the same spot again, for the nth time.
"fuck" you aggrevatedly run your hand through your hair, angry at yourself for not getting this turn down the way it should look.
"I'm sorry, im usually not this bad i j-"
"you're not bad y/n" minho giggles, shaking his head "its alright, sometimes a move just doesnt work at first"
You huff out some air "im just nervous" you shake your head "i've never done a stage like this and i dont want to disappoint people"
"its normal to be nervous" minho stops the music before coming up behind you "just dont let it overpower the fun part"
He moves some hair from your shoulder "plus its just the two of us right now, and you cant disappoint me" he smiles softly, heat rushing to your cheeks.
"try positioning your hips..." he places his hands on your hips before gently rotating them to the left "... more like this before turning" he explains ,eyes locking in the mirror.
For a second, the only thing you can hear is your own heartbeat as his hands move up a little and linger on the exposed skin of your waist.
"okay" you breathe "lets try it from the top"
"yea?"
"yea" you nod.
The music starts again and your body takes over for you, you kick and jump and turn.
Minho lifts you like its nothing and before you know it, you do the turn exactly like you're supposed to.
The music stops and your breathing fills the silence before the euphoria of getting every single step down perfectly reaches your brain.
You squeal excitedly and clap before falling into minhos arms.
He stiffens at your touch and you immediately let go "i- i'm sorry- i dont know why-"
Suddenly, he lounges forwards and presses his plush lips against yours.
It takes you a second to register whats happening, but when his hands encase your waist, you sling your arms around his neck to pull him even closer.
An approving moan tears from minhos throat before he backs you up untill you feel the cold mirror pressed against your back.
You part your lips and let his tongue roll against yours , his hands roaming over your body.
Everything his happening so fast you cant track where they're going, first they're at your ass then one of them squeezes at your boob; and now it trails up your neck and wraps itself around it as he kisses down the other side.
You feel like your nerve endings are on fire everywhere his hands and lips wander, your eyes fluttering shut as you moan out his name.
He nips at your collarbone before coming back to your lips "i've wanted to do this since the second i saw you" his hand around your neck tightens protectively and you feel yourself clench.
"me too" you whisper before he crashes his lips to yours again, your hand tightening in his thick brown hair as the other clings to his shoulder.
A firm thigh lodges itself between your legs and you feel brave so you roll your hips into it. The ache thats building up in your clit, getting released a little.
Shamelessly you whimper against his lips.
He sucks your bottom lip inbetween his before breaking the kiss again, looking down at your ministrations.
"dirty girl" he grins, releasing your neck and placing both hands on your hips and helping you grind against his thigh.
Your head falls back against the mirror when the fabric of your cotton thong gets rubbed against your clit in just the right way. An almost pornographic moan leaves your lips, "fuck" you whine, locking eyes with minho again.
"god i wanna do so many bad things to you" he grunts, at which you swear you gushed a little more into your panties.
You see his cock straining through the flattering grey sweat material, your hand wandering towards it but he catches it.
"cum on my thigh and you'll get it" he promises, grinning when another high pitched moan spills from your pretty lips.
A sudden loud ringing makes you flinch, and minhos head whips around before removing himself from you.
"wha-?" you mumble confusedly.
He takes his phone and answers the incoming call.
"Hi, hyung" he speaks, turning around "i went for a run, yea-sorry...yea okay...okay bye" he hangs up.
"Who-?" you attempt to speak but your mind is still fuzzy as he throws his backpack over his shoulder and grabs his sweater before coming back to you.
"My manager" he says, taking your hand "i have to go"
"Oh-"
"I'm sorry" he kisses your lips "you want me to take you to your dorm?"
"No- no i dont want you to get in trouble" you shake your head.
"Sure?" He tilts his head.
"Yea, of course, im good" you nod, a smile tugging at your lips because he looks really cute with his messed up hair and puffy lips.
"Here" he gives you his sweater "im sure its colder now"
"you'll get cold though" you hold it up.
"nah, i'm hot blooded" he quips, leaning down to lock lips again.
More lingering this time, you feel you stomach churn with butterflies when he moves to your cheek.
"i'm not finished with you" he whispers into your ear, winking before walking out the door.

๛Starting our Future
Tumblr media
Gif by @jeojungguk
Pairing: poly!BTS x girlfriend!reader
Warnings: hardcore fluff at the end, baby talk
Words: 2000+
๛匕he one where everything changes∙ꨄ
ㄚou sighed heavily, as you scrolled through all the new feed on your Instagram channel. Since you and the boys had the talk, it seemed like everyone around you wanted to provoke you by getting a baby first.
First, the boys' stylist and your close friend, Jina, announced that she and her husband would expect baby within the next weeks. Then your co-worker, Jisoo, found out three months ago, that she was pregnant with a small baby boy and lastly, your cousin dropped the baby-bomb 6 weeks ago.
Of course, you were more happy for all of them, but somehow it made you sad at the same time, that all these people were about to start a family by their own, a wish you had for a long time. So four weeks ago, you had decided to start to bring up the baby-topic to your 7 boyfriends.
They were surely speechless in the first moment. Of course, it hadn't been the first time the eighth of you talked about your future plans, but this time they knew it was serious to you. You were more passionated when you told them about your friends having babies, or how your eyes would tear up when you talked about how you wanted to take care of a baby of your own.
That was until your heard the sentence you hoped so badly to not hear: "We are on the peak of our careers"
Boom.
Like someone rammed his fist into your stomach.
You didn't show them how much this sentence hurt you. Instead, you smile and told them that it was fine, and that you could understand the dilemma they were in, which you indeed understood.
You knew how much the boys loved going on stage, performing in front of people and just enjoying their free life. So, you found yourself accepting the fact, the you would not carry your own baby within the next 5 years.
Why 5 years, you're probably asking yourself right now? Well, today was the day the boys would sign their contract to continue BTS for another 5 years.
5 years of concerts and world tours. 5 years of them staying up till late at night to work on new music. 5 year of them being not able to take care of a helpless baby.
Boom.
Like someone punched you into the stomach, again.
And harder.
It hurt, but you couldn't be mad at them. They had honestly told you their concerns and worries, and you had to respect this. After all, you couldn't force them to make you a baby, and after all, you didn't want to be the one, who had a baby and was sitting home alone, because you husbands were touring all over the world. And lastly, you didn't want to be the one who destroyed their dreams.
So you decide to wait for them to be ready, don't matter how long it would take, and even though you know it would be hard.
You sighed again while you turned off you phone, before throwing it onto the couch. A look at the clock told you, that you husbands of 2 years would be home every minute. You thought about cooking something special for the to celebrate their contract extension, but the you guessed that they would already had ordered a table at your favourite restaurant.
Mentally, you already strolled through the restaurant's menu, when you heard the familiar clicking of the front door, followed by friendly and joking voices.
Unwillingly, a smile came up you face. You had been together for more than five years now, and had been married for almost two years, but every time they walked into the room, it was like you saw them for the first time again. Their auras lighted up the room, and every time you ask yourself how you deserve to be their girl.
Jimin was the first one to spot you standing at the kitchen counter. The corners of his mouth rase up immediately, and his eyes formed the two beautiful half moons you madly fell in love with.
"Aaeeiinn (Honey)!" He called out before he closed the distance between the two of you, by wrapping his arms around your way smaller body and spinning you around.
You giggled and laughed wildly, as he sat your feet back down on the floor and covered your face in small kisses.  You weakly tried to pull away from him, even though the both of you knew that you enjoyed this kind of affection.
"Jimin, let go of her." You heard Jungkook's soft voice beside you. "I want to kiss her, too."
He kept nudging and pulling onto the fabric of your (Namjoon's) shirt, until Jimin finally let go of your waist. The taller boy slide his hands up onto your body, and placed them under your armpits to lift you up. Loosing the footing, your wrapped your legs around Jungkook's slim waist, and wrapped your arms around his neck.
„Hello, na sarang (my love)." He whispered as he nudged his nose against yours, giving you an Eskimo kiss. "I missed you today."
"I missed you too, Kookie." You whispered against his soft lips, before pressing your own lips onto his.
One by one, the boys entered the kitchen, giving you sweet kisses, hugs or lifts as their very own way of saying 'hello' and 'I missed you', but you loved everything about it.
While Jungkook would always lift you up into his arms, Namjoon was always the one to pull you closer to his chest and bending down towards you height, to kiss you with his soft lips, and Yoongi would be the one to cup your face in his larger hands to kiss you, while his thumbs would stroke your cheeks.
But somehow, something was odd about their kisses today. They were more...passionated and somehow too intensive for just saying 'hello'.
Those kind off kisses, you usually share when you are in bed together, or when you haven't seen each other in a very long time. You thought about it for a second, but then decided to not complain about it.
That was until you pulled away from Taehyung's lips, and saw all the other 6 boys looking at you with loving and smirking eyes.
"Heeeyy!" You called out when Tae suddenly sat you onto the counter top. You looked at all of them suspiciously. "What is going on with you, guys? Did you break something? Oh no....you did break something, don't you? What is...."
"Shhhh." You were stopped in you mid-sentence when Hobi stepped forward and put a finger to your lips. "Just listen to what we are going to tell you."
Your left eyebrow cocked up when Jin took both of your hands up to his hands and pressing a kiss onto them. He the turned around and grabbed something from Yoongi's hands, before pushing it into yours.
"What is this?" You asked confused as you looked at the pile of paper in your hands, that Jin had gestured you to read.
You shoved the numerus sheets of papers around your hands, trying to get what was written onto them. The first thing you read was the headline:
"Contract for the extension of 'Bangtan Sonyeondan' (2021-2026), under the leadership of BigHit Entertainment"
"Look at the last page." Jimin gestured for you, as you flick through the pages.
You felt your heart skip a beat, when you took a closer look at the last side of the contract, where you saw 10 lines, each one with a name under it.
The first 2 lines were signed by the two highest leader of the company, the third one was signed by the boys' manager, Sejin, and the last 7 lines were...not signed, but crossed?
It took you a while to understand what finally understand what that meant. You mouth hung open slightly, as you looked at your seven boyfriends in front of you.
"Why didn't you sign the contract?" You gasped shocked, while you looked again at the sheet of paper to make sure you weren't tricked by your brain. "Oh my god, you quit BTS? Why would you do this? Why did you...why? I don't understand. And why are you grinning like this?"
You mind was racing with questions. The boys just quit their future, their passion, and they were just smiling about it. You didn't know what was going on with them, because the boys who left the apartment this morning would have done anything to keep BTS together as long as possible.
"You are right, yeobo (darling)." Namjoon laid a hand on your knees as he looked into your eyes. "There will be no BTS anymore, and that's okay, because we want it like this."
"But why?" You whispered, laying your hand on top of his.
"The boys and I – " He pointed at the rest of your husbands, who had sat down around the kitchen counter. "We had many talks over the last few weeks. About you, and us, and our future and everything that includes our lives, together."
He emphasised the last word, as he winked his eyebrows at you.
"We just thought about what you said about us starting a family and finally settling
down – " You eyes lighted up as you realized what he was talking about. "We just – we were a little bit overwhelmed when you suddenly came up with you wanting to try for a baby, that we just rejected you. But we talked about this after our conversation and we – fuck – we want this too, jagi (darling)."
"But you love BTS." You whispered again, as a tear slide down your cheek, dripping onto your shirt.
"But we love you more." This time, it was Jin to talk. He stood up from the barstool he was sitting on, and made his way over to you. He then lifted his hand and whipped the streaming tear off of you cheeks. "We love what we're doing with BTS, but every story has to end at some point. We feel like it is the time right now to start a new chapter of our life, just the eighth of us."
He leaned down and pressed his lips onto your wet and salty lips. You were so overwhelmed in this moment, that all kind of emotions rushed through your body.
On the one hand, you wanted to be mad at them for giving up there careers for you and your outbursts of emotions, but on the other hand you just wanted to ripped their clothes off of their bodies and drag them to bed with you.
"Are you crazy?!" You suddenly spoke loudly at them (mostly at Jin because he stood in front of you), as you push Jin away from you. Somehow, you felt mad right now, so you began to slightly hit his chest with each following word. "You. Just. Quit. Your. Future. You. Idiots!"
When you stopped, you grabbed Jin by the collar of his shirt to pull him down until your lips smacked against each other.
"You are crazy." You whispered again as you leaned your forehead against his. "You idiots, I love you so much."
Big hands made their way over your hips from the side, when you suddenly were pulled away from the dark haired boy in front of you. You easily slide over the edge of the marbled counter top until the next boy stood between your legs.
"We love you more." Yoongi whispered as he captured your lips with his.
You were so caught up in the kiss, that you forgot the other boys around you.
"Jaaaagggiiii!" You heard Jimin and Jungkook whining beside you. "You wanted a baby! Let's make one. Now."
The maknae line was already pulling and grabbing the oversized shirt you were wearing, wanting to shove it over your head. You grew more and more impatient, as all the hands were roaming over your body, teasing all the right parts.
You disconnected your lips from Yoongi's and pushed him back slightly, before jumping off of the counter. You grabbed Taehyung by the hand and began to drag him behind you, as you made your way over to the bedroom, followed by the other boys.
You and your husbands spend the next weeks at home, making love whenever there was a free minute to bridge.
And well, what should you say, 12 months later, you held your firstborn baby-girl in your arms.

So this is my first poly!BTS story. I think it is quite cute.
Let me know when you like it.
But don’t worry, BTS will still be existing until 2026, so we have still 5 years left to drool over them!
By the way: If you like The Maze Runner, you can visit my Wattpad account (20__moonchild__20). I am working on a story.

No Matter Where...
Part 1
Tumblr media
Genre: N/A, in this part...
Pairing: Eventually.... Chan x Original Character
Warning: N/A
Summary: Liliana’s vacation with her 2 best friends ends up being a trip to remember.
*Flight to Seoul now boarding*
"Do you have your passport?" Anya, my best friend asks.
"Uh...yes?" I started checking my jacket pockets nervously.
"Liliana! You just had it!" She says as she glares daggers at me.
"I do! I found it!! And why in the world does my jacket have so many pockets?"
I'd never get on the plane at this rate.
I look to Anya and we grab our carry-ons.
"You guys ready?" Ria, my other best friend asks, coming up to us with a huge smile on her face.
"Only one way to find out." I smile back at her.
I checked my phone one last time and put it away. "Here we go."
We head to our terminal and then head to our seats once we're let in. Anya on my left, Ria on my right.
"Do you think we've learned enough to make this work?" Anya asks me worriedly.
"I sure hope so." I say wiggling in my seat, trying to breathe.
"I have never been so excited to meet the ground again in my life!" I say anxiously as I step off the plane, "I could kiss it, I'm so happy."
"Oh, Liliana, stop being a baby." Anya says laughing at me.
After grabbing our bags and heading out of the insanely packed airport, we stood there.
"We made it. I made it." I smile excitedly. The girls nodded happily.
The amount of people trying to get a taxi was a mess and the language barrier was hard to handle for Ria.
"Ria,I told you, you should have studied with us…" I glanced at her with an 'I told you so' smile. A few seconds later, we realize we’ve already lost Anya. The panic in my throat was about to burst.
"Ria! Liliana! This way!" Anya calls from the taxi she had managed to snag and we rush to join her.
After arriving at our hotel, we finally get into our room and drop our bags.
"Oh my God! I'm so exhausted already." Ria dramatically falls into the bed and puts her arms behind her head.
"Says the one who slept 85% of the way there," Anya says sarcastically.
"I did not! Liliana! Tell her!" She looked at me and all I could do was throw my hands up.
"I'm not in this conversation… sorry"
"Rude much?" Ria scoffs at me and laughs.
Since it was our first day there, we decided to explore close to the hotel. We got ready and were waiting for Ria, but she was taking too long in the shower.
"Ria, we're leaving in 10 minutes!" I quickly yelled through the bathroom door.
"10?! Ugh! Fine!!" She aggravatedly yelled back.
10 minutes later, Ria was still in the shower, so we yelled ‘bye’ and Anya and I left.
We walked in the quaint little Starbucks. It wasn't huge by any means but it was cozy. A few booths lined the wall, a few tables and chairs scattered as well. My temptress though, the display shelf. The snacks always looked so good! We walked up to the counter and ordered.
Behave Lili, you have done great losing this weight. You don't want it back.
"Starbucks being so close is a godsend!" Anya states, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I agree. This latte is amazing." I nod.
Ria was running behind like usual. I glanced at my watch and decided it was time to call her.
"Hey! I'm on my way to you. I'm about in the elevator, I'll be there soon!" She answers.
"Okay, okay, hurry up."
"Okay but will you go ahead and order for me?" She asks sweetly.
"Oh god, what do you want?" I respond sarcastically.
"Hmmm...maybe an iced caramel macchiato?" She suggests.
"Fine, but I'm not as good as Anya in Korean. You owe me." I laugh through the phone.
"Yes twin, I always do! Thank you, I love you. Be there soon." Saying 'i love you' back, I hung up with her.
We're not really twins, but we might as well have been. Or triplets, if you count Anya.
"Hello, could I have an iced caramel macchiato?" I order.
"Okay, sure." The cashier takes the money from me and I stand to the side and wait. I watched as Ria walked in a split second later and started searching for us.
Spotting Anya, then myself.
Noticing I didn't have her drink yet, she chose to come and wait with me.
"Sooo, how was your shower?" I smile.
"Oh great!" She says sarcastically, "except I was told I had 10 minutes until we left! You know it takes me longer than that."
I smiled and busted up laughing.
After that, her drink arrived and we went to sit with Anya again.
As we were tidying up in order to leave, we talked about the night ahead. Standing up and grabbing our things, Anya just stops.
"Guys, look." She whispers, smiling.
As we sneak a peak around, there are 4 incredibly good-looking men that walked in. Particularly good-looking, was the one with longer blond hair and it was half tied up.
"Liliana! Quit staring!" Ria said knocking my arm and some function back into my brain.
"Sorry?" I say shocked at her tone. Then I see the anxious look on her face and instantly know. "Okay, which one do you not want to notice you?" I asked, smirking at her.
"What do you mean? I just don't think it's nice to stare." She really can't be trying to play innocent right now...
"Ria, really? Really? Do you think that'll work on me?" I shook my head at her, disappointed. "Fine! The one that came in last, okay?! Happy now?" She said, hiding her face a bit.
I glanced back quickly to take a look at him again.
I had to admit he was attractive, just not quite my type.
He was taller than me and a few inches taller than Ria and rather muscular. This guy had such milky white skin, amongst black hair and his eyes were a cute lighter brown compared to his other 3 friends. What really stood out was his lips, they were tinged red like he had just had a cherry lollipop, but you can tell that was his natural color.
"Ah, okay, yeah… he's definitely your type." I say, looking back at her and grinning.
Anya? She was definitely eyeing the blond guy. He was tall, not muscular like the other guy, but you can tell he had muscles, he was just leaner. Brown eyes and an eyebrow piercing.
Yup, definitely our type.
"Are you 2 ready to leave?" I asked before Anya gets the nerve to go up and talk to the 4 of them.
"Yeah, I guess so." She says as she fake pouts at me.
"Alright, if you guys wanna wait outside for me, I gotta go to the restroom."
They nod in agreement and head towards the door and I, in the opposite direction.
Headed back out to meet up with them, I take my phone out and make sure I didn't miss any calls.
I really should learn how to watch where I'm walking.
As I was about to open the door, I ran into someone and knocked both phones from our hands.
"Oh!! Excuse me." I say in Korean, praying silently it wasn't one of the four guys from inside.
"It's okay. Excuse me as well." He said.
I bent down just as he did by mistake and once again, clumsy Liliana for the win. We knocked heads.
"Oh! Sorry again! I'm really so sorry! I'm such a klutz." I apologized and he just laughed in such a high laugh while grabbing his head. I couldn't help but to laugh. I bent down again and picked up both phones.
Finally, looking up to see the man's face for the first time, I almost dropped our phones once more.

Summary: An Alternate Universe where Bakugou doesn't want to be a hero, but was was forced by Deku to attend at UA. On the first day of school something unexpected happens. Turns out, if you're the last one standing, you'll be the number one student of UA. Everyone excluding the 3rd years go againts each other to be at the top, while Deku and Bakugou find ways to survive without any casualties.
Besides all of this, the question stays. Who created this ridiculous predicament at UA?
Chapter 1: It's just the first Day of school, and now this?!
Making his way to the classroom took a lot more effort than he initially thought. Head down, eyes trained on the floor, and carefully maneuvering his way through the crowd of students while avoiding attention— Bakugou tries his best to go through the day unnoticed.
Someone grabs him by the shoulder. The force makes him face the person behind him— someone he knows quite well.
"Deku... There you are." It was his childhood friend.
"Is everything okay? I've been calling your name so many times. I had to run towards you just to get your attention."
"Sorry, I was just thinking about something."
Deku watches his friend, worried. "What were you thinking about?"
"Isn't it obvious! We made a bet remember!" Bakugo lashes out, his hands balling into fists.
"Oh that.. You're right..." Deku recalls, scratching the back of his head. "But I don't see why would that be a problem. You passed the exams! You should be happy!"
Deku takes out his watch before looking around the hallway and grabbing Bakugou's hand. "Come on, let's go. It's the first day of school! We should at least hurry to our classroom!"
Before Bakugou could protest, Deku was dragging him to their classroom. The green haired lad excitedly opened the door, only to be greeted by a room filled with empty seats.
"What? Where are they?" Bakugou steps inside, looking around. "Did you bring us to the wrong classroom or something?"
"No.. I'm certain this is Class 1-A." Deku replies as he checks the sign outside the door. Sure enough, they were in the right room.
"Well—" Bakugou gets cut off when the school bell chimes. Three bells, an indication of an announcement.
Not too long, a female's voice sounds from the speakers.
"Attention all students, please head to the auditorium for an announcement!"
"An announcement? What could it be Kacchan?" Deku turns to his friend, a mix of confusion and curiosity present on his face.
"Who knows. Let's go before we miss anything."
It wasn't easy getting into the auditorium with all the students flooding in at once. It took a whole few minutes of squeezing into the crowd to finally reach their post.
A student walks towards the center of the stage, holding a microphone in his hand. Face filled with confidence, he taps the microphone two times before speaking.
"Greetings! First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for gathering here today." The young man starts, "My name is Shoto Todoroki, and as you all know I'm the son of the number two hero, Endeavor. I'm here to announce a challenge that will change everything this school year!"
Bakugou could hear other students whispering on the sides.
"A challenge, what does he mean by that?"
"I don't know, but this better be good."
"As you all know, we students dream to become one of the pros— to be in the top 10. That's why we're here at UA, the top Hero Academy in Japan! And with this challenge, we can reach that dream and take it even higher!" The student, Todoroki, exclaims, his fist pounding in the air.
"One of you— that's right— the one with the best, strongest, flashiest quirk will become the number one student of this academy! Well, excluding the 3rd years. The benefits of becoming the number student are endless! You could be one of the top 3 students, and train with the best heroes outside of japan!" Todoroki continues.
"So more island hopping?" A second year student asks, raising their hand.
"Yes, being the number one will focus only on your training to be a hero. There would no longer be a need to study or take the elevator exams."
The students stir with his announcement, and Todoroki uses this chance to further encourage them. "Now tell me this, are you capable of fighting your friends, classmates for this one of a kind opportunity? Let's set aside all emotions and strive towards our goal! So what are you waiting for? Are you just going to stand there doing nothing? Or are you going to give it your all and fight to be the best?!"
The auditorium falls silent.
"But what about the other classes who aren't suited to fight, like the General, Support, or Management?" Another student asks.
Todoroki lets out a loud sigh, answering the query. "The General can join in if they wish. Support can help the ones who are fighting. And the Department of Management— eh, can do whatever they want." He shrugs.
At the back of the crowd, a first year with glasses shouts. "But where are we going to fight? We're using our quirks right? If we're going all out, non participants might get disturbed or worse, get caught up with the fight!"
Todoroki nods. "Good question. Rules regarding the venues of the event will be explained soon."
"But what about our hero costumes? They're not finished yet!" Another first year asks.
"You have your PE uniforms." Todoroki says before remembering an important detail of his announcement. "As for property damages within school campus, there is no need for worry. I'll be handling all expenses."
He brings his hands out for a around of applause. "Alright, The rules will be delivered at the end of today's classes. The challenge will start tomorrow. And for all non-participants, the third years will act as your escorts for the time being. That wraps up this morning's announcement. I wish everyone good luck and may the strongest student win!"
Todoroki drops his mic and quickly exits the stage. As soon as he's gone, the atmosphere starts to liven up.
_____________________________________________
Todoroki was exhausted, he didn't think this through. He didn't take into account that there were others who had no desire to participate. "I should ask Yaoyorozu about this—"
"Oh? Is this perhaps Shoto Todoroki I'm seeing?" Someone greets him with a cheerful tone
Todoroki snaps, turning to the sound of the voice. Upon looking, he sees a group of three students walking towards him.
"Wow, I'm amazed. This year's students are pretty energetic!" One of the students chuckles.
"Well, atleast it's a change of pace, unlike last year..."
"True. I can't believe principal Nezu agreed to this. It's exciting but tiring at the same time. Dragging alot of students into this, it's kind of a risk to them don't you think, Mirio?"
"Mirio?" Todoroki paused, realizing the name she spoke was—
"Ah, Todoroki Shoto right? Bold of you to propose a challenge without thinking there wouldn't be casualties."
Shoto's eyes widen as he stumbles back. "M-Mirio Togata!"
"Oh sorry, forgot to introduce myself. I guess you already know who I am, huh? Nice to meet you, Todoroki!"
"Oh, uh— Oh! I guess it's my turn next." said the girl next to him, "My name is Nejire Hado, and the guy on the left is Tamaki Amajiki!"
"The big three.." Todoroki composes himself. "Were you here to see me?"
"Yeah. Since you did announce to the whole school, why wouldn't we?" Nejire chuckles.
"The teachers haven't arrived yet so we're here to look after the school while they're not around." Tamaki says, facing away from Todoroki.
Todoroki sighs. "I see... And yes, you're right senpai. I should've thought this through. I got so excited that I forgot about the safety of others"
Mirio approaches Todoroki, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "Don't worry Todoroki, we'll help you! We are your senpais after all. And it's already been decided, we'll take care of the non-participants as well as the injured. All you gotta do is take charge of the battles."
"As for the organization of the fights.. We'll have to come up of a plan to reassure the other students' safety tomorrow." Tamaki adds.
Todoroki felt guilty that his senpais had to help him with all of his problems— thinking about how dumb he was for going through with the idea without a proper plan. "I'm sorry you had to help me. I should've thought this through..."
"Well your father and Principal Nezu did agree to this without telling you the consequences, or perhaps they're testing you?" Nejire eyes Todoroki, examining him.
"Why would would they want to test me?"
"Who knows, you ask them."
"Well would ya look at the time! It was nice meeting you Todoroki, and next time we meet, plan first before you act on anything." Mirio tells him, smiling as the three make their way to the exit.
"Yes, I will senpai." Todoroki nods, watching them go.
"Aww, we're leaving already? I haven't gotten the chance to ask him some questions yet." Nejire says, feeling disappointed.
"It was nice meeting you Todoroki, see you!" Nejire adds, bidding farewell.
"Ah- Goodbye senpai!"
The three waved at Todoroki and left, leaving him alone again.
Todoroki leaned on the wall, sighing in exhaustion.
"I could really use some tea right about now. Yaoyorozu's on the top floor..." He shrugs. "I'll just take the elevator."
_____________________________________________
After the announcement at the auditorium, Bakugou and Deku went back to the classroom for a breather.
"Damn, staying at the auditorium packed with a lot of people really is a nightmare." Bakugou says as he stretches his arms.
Deku agrees whilst cracking his knuckles. "The announcement came out of nowhere too. And not just that, all of the teachers and staff are gone."
Bakugou takes his seat on the chair next to where Deku stood, thinking about what he said. "And that Todoroki guy, what's he planning to do with this challenge of his? He could've just waited until the Sports Festival. This whole challenge thing doesn't make any sense."
"He must've been really excited. A lot of students would want to join in."
"Well, I know I don't."
Deku stops, looking at Bakugou worriedly. "You.. Aren't?"
"What, is there something wrong about that?" Bakugou glares at Deku, causing the latter to avoid eye contact.
"I just thought that, you know.. You were okay with using your quirk now.."
Bakugou blinks. "I am. I don't see why that has anything to do with the challenge."
"Well.. I thought you would want to join since it's a challenge and all." Deku says in a quiet voice, his hands fidgeting.
"Join the challenge?" Bakugou scoffs. "There's no way I'm doing that. Not when I can possibly harm others."
Deku stares down at his friend. "Then what are you gonna do when a villain attacks?"
"Deku.. That's not it."
"Kacchan did you forget? We're at UA. If you can't use your quirk, how are you going to be a hero?"
"(Kacchan, Promise me that in the future the two of us will be heroes.)"
"(Of course, we'll be the best heroes. I'm obviously going to be number one!)"
"(No way, Kacchan. I'm going to be number one!)"
"(Ha! You wish!.)"
"Can't be a hero without using my quirk huh?" Bakugou smirks. "Then I'll just have to change that."
"You're gonna.. What?"
"I'm gonna enter the challenge and win without my quirk."

The One With Very Chaotic Pool Party
Tumblr media
"Sugar, we're going down swinging."
Peyton knocked on the door harshly, "Ryland! Hurry the fuck up! Everyone's already here and I haven't even gotten to shower!"
A huff came from behind the locked door, "Go use the one in moms' room!"
"Oh! I can't believe I hadn't thought of that!" Peyton rolled her eyes, even though her older sister wouldn't see it.
"See, there you go."
"That was sarcasm, dipshit. Mom is in there."
"Peyton! Don't call your sister a dipshit!" Jisoo yelled from somewhere in the house.
"How did she even hear that?"
Ryland finally exited the bathroom a few seconds later. Her hair was tied back in a immaculate ponytail with a baby blue scrunchie that corresponded with the rest of her hot weather outfit.
Peyton glared at the young woman, "What were you even doing in there? You look exactly the same?"
Ryland gasped, terrified, she quickly backed into the bathroom again and slammed the door shut.
"Sleep with your eyes open." Peyton muttered at the locked door.
"Peyton! Stop threatening your sister!" Jisoo yelled again.
"What the hell?!" Peyton yelped.
You frowned as you left your bedroom, Kaleb sat on your hip, his swim trunks and rashgaurd coincidentally matching Ryland's baby blue outfit.
"Your mom's right. You need to stop threatening your sister with bodily harm when she does something you don't like."
Peyton's frown deepened, "It wasn't a threat. It was a suggestion. I'd hate for it to be an unfair fight."
You just stared at your youngest daughter, "You know, when Lia dropped you on your head as a baby I didn't really think it would manifest itself into this."
Peyton pouted, "Lia dropped me?!"
"Well, technically it was Jisoo and you landed on the bed. Just..head first. In your mother's defense, she didn't know Lia was going to jump onto her stomach. You were on her chest. It was like those big air blob things you see at summer camp on a lake. It was actually kind of funny. You thought it was too while you were in the air. After you landed, not so much."
"And somehow I still love you." Peyton deadpanned. In all honesty, that story made a whole lot of sense.
"I love you too!"
Kaleb tugged on the collar of your shirt lightly, "Build?"
You smiled at your youngest, "Yeah, we can build. I think mama moved your legos outside, is that okay?"
Kaleb thought about it for a second then nodded. He didn't care where his legos were as long as he got to use them.
You urged Peyton along one more time, before setting off to the backyard.

"You're going to burn a whole through the poor kid's head if you don't stop staring." Sana said as she pushed the meat around the grill some more. She didn't know what she was doing really. But she was precariously watching a YouTube video with instructions. YouTube University to the rescue once again.
"She wants to defile my child. I know this as fact. That's all I was thinking about at that age." Jisoo said without breaking her gaze.
"And yet, you remained a virgin until 27. Funny how stuff like that works itself out." Irene spoke up, she shooed Sana out of the way of the grill and set about fixing things.
"If I lost my virginity at 27, how would I have had Lia? Oh, you were joking." Jisoo pouted.
"Got it in one." Irene's words dripped sarcasm, "I thought you got over that. Seulgi and I met at 19 and 18, you didn't seem to have a problem about that then."
"I was also 19 and neither you or Seulgi are my fucking daughter. How would you feel if Maya just suddenly walked into your house claiming your sworn enemy's kid was her mate?"
"I killed all my enemies back in the late 90's."
"Could you give me two seconds of sincerity, Irene? Please." Jisoo's shoulders slumped.
Irene rolled her eyes, "Is Maya happy in this scenario?"
Jisoo looked as though she didn't want to answer that question, "Well...yeah."
"Then I'd be happy for her. Like you should be with Ryland."
Sana nodded along with Irene's statement, "As far as I can tell, neither Rosè or Taylor are bad people. Ryalnd is happy. Shouldn't that be all that matters?"
Jisoo huffed defeatedly, "Fine. You're right. I'm going to go talk to the kid."
Jisoo practically stomped off in the direction of the teenager.
Irene looked on with a proud smile, "You know, Sana? I think our little girl is finally growing up." She wiped a fake tear from her eye.
"The ribs are burning." A voice stated from the side of them.
"Shit!"
"Oh hey, Jennie. When did you get here?"
~•~
"Ryland, do you mind if I scare the shit out of your girlfriend? Thank you." Before Ryland could respond, Jisoo dragged Taylor away by the arm.
Taylor stood up straighter and puffed out her chest, "Hello, Mrs. Kim. My name is Taylor Bae-Park and I-"
"Look, kid. I don't need all of that. I just need to know a few things. Do you love my daughter?"
"With every single breath I take."
Jisoo tried to keep her scowl to a minimum.
"Are you treating her right?"
"I like to think so."
"Are you pressuring her into anything she doesn't want to do?"
"Of course not."
Jisoo sighed, "That's...good to hear. Alright, if you end up going all the way with this thing then so be it. Just promise me this, if she ever starts acting like...well, herself and you can't take it anymore, just bring her back. Her mom and I are use to it."
Taylor nodded stiffly then saluted, "You have my word!"
"Did you just sal-you didn't-I'm not..whatever." Jisoo took a sip of the beer she had completely forgotten was in her hand.
Taylor began to walk away, but Jisoo stopped her, "Hey, Taylor? Tell Chaeyoung I said 'Hi'." Taylor nodded with a smile, then jogged back to the edge of the pool.
Jisoo stayed rooted to the spot, almost jumping out of her skin when arms encircled themselves around her waist.
"That was very hot." You practically purred into Jisoo's ear, "You being all protective mama bear. It's a shame we're hosting this little get together, because if we weren't I'd get down on my knees for you and-"
"Okay! Why don't you put a pin in that thought for now, while I go completely submerged myself in the pool for about 10 minutes, yeah?" Jisoo shuffled out of your arms frantically.
You only laughed hysterically as Jisoo awkwardly hobbled to the pool edge then jumped straight in.
"20 years later. Still got it." You gave yourself a mental pat on the back.
~•~
"Jesse Kim! You are way too old for me to have to tell you to stop standing on tables." Lisa shouted up at her son. He had always been a climber. He had given her and Jennie multiple heart attacks as a baby.
Jesse only smiled charmingly at his mother, then set about continuing to do what he was doing, "Friends, Family! I have an announcement to make!"
He had managed to catch everyone's attention, though most of them probably wanted to see if Lisa would throw a shoe at him to get him down.
"As you all know, I was going to go into my second year of college at Julliard, but what you don't know is that last week I got a signed a record deal with Columbia records!" He smiled brightly.
The rest of the partygoers clapped enthusiastically.
"But they suck."
"Peyton!"
"Not only that, but after talking with my 'rents, I've decided to say fuck college and I'm going to perform full time."
"You just couldn't keep it PG, could you?" Lisa took a long sip of her chilled wine. Jesse shook his head with a happy smile.
There's a scraping of a lawn chair against pavement and a dissatisfied huff. No one really notices accept for the people closest.
Jisoo moved to go talk to her oldest daughter, but stopped when a hand is placed on her shoulder.
Jennie shook her head subtly, "I think I have some aunting to do on this one."
Jisoo looked a bit skeptical, but let Jennie walk off in Lia's direction nonetheless, "Alright, but come get me if you need me."
"I got this, Chu."
Lia had stormed around the house to the front stoop. She sat on the step with a huff. An angry tear hit her cheek just before being forcibly wiped away.
"What's up, Li?" Jennie sat on the step next to her. She had a feeling she already knew what the problem was, but it wouldn't do her any good to assume and be wrong.
"...I was supposed to be like you and Aunt Seulgi. But no, I just had to get that stupid disease and it just had to ruin my fucking voice." Lia squeezed her eyes shut to prevent the oncoming spillage of tears. There's an idle throb in her throat as if to taunt her.
Jennie rubbed her back softly, "I know that this is hard for you, Kid. If I knew Jess had planned on doing that, I would have talked him out of it. You know how he gets."
Lia only shrugged and shook her head, "It's whatever. What's done is done. Peyton commited to SUNY. I should be used to it."
"I don't think you should have to get used to your life passing you by. You're not a failure. So, what? You can't sing anymore, but that's not all you are. You're a successful youth soccer coach. You just graduated college. You're completely independent of your parents. Those are all things to celebrate."
Lia nodded softly. Jennie did have a couple of points, "It's just...hard."
"I know, Li, but you're not alone. You've got me, your parents, your siblings, and all of your other family and friends to help."
"Yeah, okay." Lia nodded.
"Now, you want to get back to this party?"
Lia nodded resolutely, "Yeah. Mama said I have to beat Taylor in a game of Chicken Fight to assert my dominance."
Jennie only sighed, "Yeah, that sounds about Jisoo."

Part one here
Tumblr media
The days passed faster than you would have liked. With so much paperwork added for the Cali mission, you stayed late almost every day. Javi, in an unexpected change of events, stayed with you. He didn't do shit, of course, but his company was comforting. He would softly hum songs sometimes, or get out a book and read it out loud to you.
The night before, he had been singing the Rocky soundtrack for most of it, turning to Led Zeppelin when he finished. You still remember how after you heard on the radio that John Bonham had been found dead in September 1980, he had left the office for a second and stayed in complete silence outside.
And then again in December, when they announced they were going to split. You never mentioned it, and you knew he wouldn't admit it even with a gun pointed at his head, but you were sure you had seen a tear run down his cheek. He was a huge fan, apparently.
Tonight, he was reading Cien Años de Soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude), by Gabriel García Márquez. You loved that author, but you weren't sure if you had ever mentioned it to him. Maybe he knew you enough to figure it out without the need of hearing it straight from your mouth.
"José Arcadio Buendía, que era el hombre más emprendedor que se vería jamás en la aldea, había dispuesto de tal modo la posición de las casas, que desde todas podía llegarse al río y abastecerse de agua con igual esfuerzo, y trazó las calles con tan buen sentido que ninguna casa recibía más sol que otra a la hora del calor." (José Arcadio Buendía, who was the most enterprising man ever to be seen in the village, had set up the placement of the houses in such a way that from all of them one could reach the river and draw water with the same effort, and he had lined up the streets with such good sense that no house got more sun than another during the hot time of day. )
His voice was very soothing to you, even more when he was speaking Spanish. You didn't know if he had noticed, but it got more raspy and deep when he changed languages. It reminded you of the summers spent in México with your father, when he would tell you stories about his childhood in México City or the trips he would do to Nuevo Laredo with your grandma.
He stopped reading for a second and you looked up to see why was that just to find him already staring at you.
"What's wrong?" you asked, not wanting to tell him you were enjoying his reading.
"Do you like this book?"
You nodded, a slight blush spreading in your cheeks. You tended not to give him compliments, his ego was big enough as it was without you contributing, but you figured this one wouldn't hurt.
"He's one of my favorite authors."
He smiled. "I figured"
"You brought that one because you thought I'd like it?"
It was just teasing, of course. You didn't think he'd do such a gesture for you, and the idea of him knowing you so well scared you a little bit.
He ignored you and kept going. " En pocos años, Macondo fue una aldea más ordenada y laboriosa que cualquiera de las conocidas hasta entonces por sus 300 habitantes. Era en verdad una aldea feliz, donde nadie era mayor de treinta años y donde nadie había muerto." (  Within a few years Macondo was a village that was more orderly and hard working than any known until then by its three hundred inhabitants. It was a truly happy village where no one was over thirty years of age and where no one had died.)
You stopped working for a moment, listening to the words he was saying instead.
Did he know how sexy his voice was? How good he sounded? He was one of the smartest people you knew, and you had been to enough places and met enough people to say that with confidence. His mind was sharp, could run 10 miles per minute if the situation required it.
He noticed you were staring and stopped again. His frown got more pronounced, looking at you intrigued.
"What are you looking at?" his tone was defensive. He didn't like it when you stared at him too long, it felt like you could see straight through him, and there were some things he didn't want you to know.
You shook your head and laughed. "You look tired"
With a shrug, he returned his eyes to the book, but you stretched your arm to stop him.
"Now what?"
You took the book from his hands and placed a clean sheet of paper from your desk between the pages he had been reading and closed it. With a soft sound, you let it fall on top of the table.
"It's getting late, we should go"
He straightened, surprised. Usually, he was the one to prey you away from all the paperwork. If he didn't stay with you, he would probably find you there still working the next morning.
"You are telling me we should leave?"
You nodded.
"Quick, before I change my mind."
At that, he stood up like a spring and started collecting his things. You chuckled as you saved the files on the drawer and put your jacket on.
"Let's go"
Two days later, he approached you without no greeting and in a very bad mood.
"The gringo's here"
What a great way to start the morning, you thought.
"Weren't we supposed to pick him up or something?"
Javi shook his head. He seemed frustrated, but you didn't know if it was about the arrival of your new partner or something else. With Javi, you could never guess.
His shoulders were tense, the beige suit he was wearing along with the striped tie and his yellow aviators made him look older and more serious. Had he dressed up to meet the new guy? Really?
"I'm gonna meet him outside at the Embassy's parking lot, wait here"
You nodded and kept filling the paperwork for the Cali raid as he left. You were going to take the new guy with you. You couldn't just dump him, he wasn't brought here to sit around and watch from the sidelines.
You just hoped he did his work.
A few minutes passed when you heard a pair of footsteps walking through the corridor.
"We're going to Medellín?"
That definitely wasn't Javi.
You stood up, turning around to the voice at your back.
You had to suppress a laugh once you took a glance at them.
Their suits were almost the same color, Javi's just a shade darker. Steve Murphy was wearing a light blue shirt along with a navy blue tie, had a mustache similar to Javi's too (but it made him look weird, if you were honest). His hair was dark blonde, combed to one side, and his face gave away a little nervousness. He was also taller than Javi, meaning you had to crank your neck up to meet his eyes.
"Murphy this is Bera. Bera, Murphy." Javi pointed at you as Steve shook your hand. His hold was strong, and he squeezed with enough force to be firm but not enough to hurt you. That came appreciated, every single man who met you always treated you as if you were made of porcelain.
You glared at Javi and told Steve your real name, then clarified, "But everyone calls me Bera"
"Bera?" he asked. You smiled in return.
"Long story, you'll get to know it later"
He smiled too, and they left for the ambassador's office.
As it was everyone's knowledge at the Embassy, she didn't like Javi very much, so you dealt with it when you had to ask her for something. She had a soft spot for you, you guessed it was because she knew how hard it was to be a woman in this line of work. Maybe she didn't like him because of his methods of getting info, you weren't sure.
Once they got out, Javi stood up behind his desk and started moving the few papers he had there. You wondered how he managed to have such a mess considering he only read intel, made calls and left you with everything else.
"Ahora qué se te perdió Peña?" (What did you loose now Peña?)
He glared at you and kept moving his papers. His actions were getting desperate, frustration from before about who knows what affecting him.
Murphy was looking back and forth between the two of you, standing awkwardly between your desks. You didn't know if he had understood what you said, but judging by his face, you guessed he hadn't.
"Recuerdas la informante de la que te hablé?" (Remember the informant I told you about?"
You rolled your eyes. Of course you remembered, he had been seeing her frequently over the past few weeks. He wasn't one to be constant about his hookups, but apparently, she was good enough to keep a streak with him. He hadn't seen her since you had been staying late, but last night you had left early and he went straight to search for her. You didn't have to be a genius to guess what had happened when he found her.
"Helena Sotomayor?" you asked, venom filling your voice. You didn't have anything against her or what she did, but jealousy wasn't something you could avoid easily, especially if you knew how Javier felt about her.
"Si"  his voice got deeper as he got angrier, "habrá una reunión de narcos en Medellín, y se irá a la fiesta que harán después"
(Yes, there's gonna be a reunion of narcos in Medellín, and she's leaving for the party they're hosting after)
"And what? You can't get another girl for the night?" you snarled, your tone hard and resentful. Steve looked at you with his eyes wide open, subconsciously getting closer to Javi.
"It's not about that!" Javier raised his arms exasperated, "you don't seem to understand. There's gonna be a meeting with different leaders of cartels, and they're surely planning something"
You scoffed, "yeah idiot, I get that! What I mean is what the hell are you searching for that has to do with her?"
Suddenly his back straightened, and you knew you weren't going to like what he was gonna say next.
"I need to fill a visa request for her"
You felt how your face got red and warmth spread through your body, filling it with jealousy and anger. Your eyes crossed with his and suddenly it had turned into yet another one of your fights. So that's what was bothering him.
Steve looked at Javi, alarmed.
"Is your informant really a prostitute?"
Javi didn't even look at him, "Everybody works for somebody"
You abruptly stood up and took your jacket off of your chair's back, walking fast towards the exit.
"A dónde carajos vas?" (where the fuck are you going?) he screamed, fisting his hands at his sides.
You turned around and showed him the finger.
"It's none of your fucking business!"
Javier and Steve stood there as you left, stunned. Your heels making a clicking sound that resonated in the office. Javier was used to your fighting and your screaming, it was part of your dynamic, but he didn't understand why you had reacted so bad this time. Sure, he knew you weren't fond of his way of finding intel, but you never really did more than glare or tease. This was new.
"Is it always like this with you two?" Steve asked. Javi moved his head from side to side, crinkling his eyes.
"A little less explosive, but yes"
Steve let out a sigh. This was going to be some long couple of months (or years?) for him, he just knew it.
As you walked, your eyes started to fill with tears, but you didn't know if it was out of rage or hurt. You were not one to cry, so you wiped them before they fell and rounded the corner to the right towards the diner you usually ate at.
Once you crossed the street and rounded another corner to the left, in the middle of the street was a big sign that spelled Salomé in cursive. You got inside and sat down at the table from the corner, taking out the money of your jacket's pocket. Catalina (or Cata), the cute old lady that managed it, smiled at you from the counter and walked towards you. You smiled back, doing your best to conceal your feelings.
"Qué hace mi niña preciosa aqui?" (what is my precious girl doing here?) . Her voice was soft, filled with affection. His tone was motherly and you knew she had noticed something was wrong.
You smiled sadly at her. "Solo tengo hambre"( I'm just hungry )
Cata immediately sat down in the chair across you and took your hands between hers. She heard something off in your voice, and she didn't like it one bit.
"Ahora qué hizo ese chamaco malcriado?" (What did that spoiled brat do now?) Her tone changed to playful but angry in a matter of seconds, her frown accentuated even more than it already was by her age.
You shook your head, laughing. Cata was also very fond of Javi, but she knew how much of an idiot he could be. Surprisingly, you had met her before he had, one time you were hungry and the food at the Embassy didn't sound very appealing to your ears or stomach.
"Nada Catita, ya sabes cómo es" (Nothing Catita, you know how he is). You tried to smile and she cupped your head between her hands, caressing your face with his thumb. You put your hand above hers and gave it a soft squeeze.
"Qué quiere comer mi niña?" (What do you want to eat my girl?)
A grin spread across your cheeks. "Ajiaco con pollo, porfa." (Ajiaco with chicken, please. it's a typical food in Colombia, commonly found in Bogotá. It consists of shredded chicken, pastusa, sabanera and/or creole potato, corn and maybe cream milk)
She nodded and stood up, sadness forgotten for a moment.
"Con aguacate y arroz aparte?" (with avocado and rice aside?)
You nodded eagerly. "Sabes que si" (you know it)
The curtains hiding the kitchen opened to her as she walked inside to cook your food. Your heart warmed and clenched a little at how much love she showed you every time you came here, how she genuinely cared for you.
The tablecloth was made of white lace, and you passed your fingers through the surface. It felt gritty to the touch, but its beauty completely overshadowed it. Cata had gifted you one to take home once, and it was now decorating your little table at the living room in the apartment.
The noises of Bogotá surrounded you. It was easy to hear children playing and their mothers screaming at them; people selling fruits, clothes, arguing and laughing. People doing their best to keep living, even with the crisis they were dealing with, the number of narcos that were raising and how much hell they were surely about to unleash in this beautiful country.
It was your job to stop them, to do your best at helping these people get their normal lives back.
The sound of Cata approaching took you out of your thoughts.
"Aquí está mi dulce niña, justo como le gusta" (here it is my sweet girl, just how you like it)
You took the plate of food and tilted your head, thankful. "Gracias Cata" (thank you Cata)
You quickly set your spoon to the food and as you took the first bite, everything you were worried about banished for a second. Javier, the DEA, Escobar, Steve, everything flew out the window.
That's why you had come, because everything could be forgotten for a moment if you choose the right dish to stuff your mouth with.
Cata laughed at your eagerness, patting your shoulder with her soft hand. "Tranquilícese muñequita, que la comida no se le va a ir" (Calm down little doll, the food is not going to get away)
With your mouth full you could only nod, giving her an apologetic smile. She shook her head, eyes soft as they looked at you.
The rest of your meal was spent in silence, his presence comforting to your aching heart. She knew when to speak and when to stay silent, you always talked when you wanted to and it was pointless to try and make you.
Once you finished, you took a napkin and cleaned your mouth, handing her much more money than the food cost. She immediately gave it back to you, shaking her head.
"no no mi niña, llévese eso." (no no my girl, take that away)
Standing up, you took her hand and placed the money in her palm.
"Yo no lo necesito Catita" (I don't need it Catita) With a kiss to the top of her head, you swiftly got out of there, her sigh reaching your ears as you walked back to the Embassy.
You felt much lighter, the pain in your chest gone and your muscles relaxed. You entered the building and walked down the stairs to the basement, heading straight to your desk. Javi was sitting at his, filling what you guessed was the visa request for Helena. You didn't give it importance, sitting down at your chair and stripping off your jacket. The office was getting hot again, so you tied your hair up in a ponytail and started working as if nothing had happened.
Steve gives you a funny look from his seat between your desks. He won't have his own for at least a week, so either you let him use part of yours or Javier will.
You pray he's an organized person and wave at him.
"Come on Miami, get over here"
He sits straight and gives you a visual similar to a puppy being called, then stands up to pull his chair to sit across you. His desk will probably be on the opposite wall of yours anyway, may as well get used to his face.
"Do you need help with anything?"
His words sound like heaven in your ears, and you're sure your eyes even sparkle a little bit. Finally, someone is going to help you.
"Could you help me fill these formats, please? I'm sure you know how to"
He laughs a little and takes the bunch of documents you're handing him, nodding. He never liked doing paperwork either but didn't hate it as much as Peña seemed to do. He can't help but think that leaving you with everything is too much of a dick move and decides to help you as much as he can from now on.
Both of you start to work without another word, the air feeling a little tense now that Steve feels like less of a stranger at the office. He can't do much about the rigidness between the two of you, though.
Javier raises his head from the request he's filling out and a pang on his chest makes itself present once he gets a good look at the scene in front of him.
In all the time he's known you, he has never seen you so relaxed while working. Your cheeks are flushed from the heat that's enveloping the entire place, strands of hair falling to your face as you're bent over whatever document you're working on. Your shoulders are less tense than he's seen in weeks, and he can even see a faint smile forming at your lips. Steve is reading through the papers you gave him, his posture loose and easy.
With new people, you're usually slow to warm up to, you hate anyone who isn't him getting close at your workplace, and even then you're hesitant. Despite this, you seem to be getting used to Murphy pretty quickly, and the thought creates a knot right at the center of his stomach.
He shakes the thought out of his head and keeps working on the visa request, but he can't shake the warm, burning feeling that has spread all over his body.
The day goes quickly, with Murphy helping you with everything you ask for and things getting easier between you two. With every laugh and joke the two of you exchange, Javier feels his body get hotter and hotter, but refuses to acknowledge it.
Soon it's time to leave and for the first time in weeks, you don't need to stay late.
"Vamonos compañera" (let's go partner) Javier says, but his words come out hard and tense.
It only gets worse when you shake your head as you stand up.
"Hoy no Javier, tomaré el colectivo" (not today Javier, I'm taking the bus)
He grits his teeth and fists his hands at his sides but otherwise nods. He takes his jacket off the rack and rounds his desk, waiting for you and Steve to walk in front of him.
As the three of you get out of the building, the sun has barely set and it's a good change from the pitch black night you had gotten used to. You bid each other goodbye and he silently watches how you walk alongside Murphy through the alley with a clenching heart and a hot face, jumping into his Jeep and closing the door with much more force than necessary.
"pinche gringo" (fucking gringo) he mutters as he drives away.

Hey! I saw your blog today and I love it very much!! I see you're an open person so, I also have a question: HOW does one survive studying japanese at uni?? I'm in my first year and only my second (online haha) semester and we started out with Minna no nihongo 1 but we're supposed to finish Minna 2 by the end of this semester, same with Basic Kanji book 1 in the first sem and now Basic Kanji Book 2, all while also learning mostly of Japan's history and others in this semester. Exams will kill me
Hello! I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog! I am open to a fault lol. Let me recount my meandering journey through uni, illustrating my feelings through gifs of Noel Fielding because he is my celebrity crush.
Uni is such a difficult time for so many people, trying to figure out who you are now and who you want to be later. It wasn’t until my senior year that I realized what I wanted to do. I started writing out my university experience and it got super long, so allow me to just summarize my “Lessons Learned” here and you can read the rest if you want to know all the dirty deets lol. I double-majored in Japanese and English, so I think that my experience can perhaps be useful to people who are majoring in things other than Japanese as well.
Hard-Learned Lessons from Uni
Do not choose a course of study because it is “practical.” Choose it because it is something you love. Seriously. Nothing is more important than this point. Do not choose a major because “I’ll make a lot of money” or “My parents are telling me this is good for me.”
If you are learning multiple languages at once, you must give your brain time to organize what you learned from one language lesson before moving on to the next. You can do this by waiting a couple hours between lessons, getting up and walking around, studying one language in different space from the other, etc. Otherwise, it all becomes a terrible mess in your head.
It’s okay not to know what you want your career to be. It’s okay not to have a specific plan. Life works out one way or the other.
I know how expensive uni can be. (It’s been six years since I graduated and I’m still making hefty loan payments.) But don’t feel like you have to take a full courseload every single semester and graduated asap, particularly if the classes are hard and/or you are working. I took the maximum credit hours allowed every semester on top of working RIDICULOUS hours and it nearly killed me at one point. I’m not kidding.
It is not unusual to have an identity crisis and/or mental breakdown. Take care of yourself. Know when you are nearing breaking point. Seek out the help of professionals. Most universities have psychiatrists and therapists that will see you very cheaply.
Surround yourself with good people and look out for each other.
Do not rely on substances to ease your suffering because sometimes the remedy becomes the malady. Not saying you should avoid all parties or anything square like that, but just don’t be one of those people that parties every night and gets in over their head.
Let me preface this by stating that I’m an American, and our universities are stupid because they force us to take a ton of “general education” courses that are irrelevant to our majors, and many students spend their first couple years taking only a couple courses related to their majors and minors, and try to focus on getting those stupid gen eds out of the way.
Year 1: Oh Shit, This Is Harder Than I Thought It Would Be
Tumblr media
I come from a town of less than 2600 people. Our high school prepared its students for the following career paths:
joining the military (boys only)
becoming a farmer (boys only)
welding, carpentry, or other practical jobs (boys only)
becoming a housewife (girls only)
So basically I coasted through high school never having to study anything because it was one great big joke, only I thought I was like super duper smart because I was in the top five of my graduating class of 48. LOLLLLLLLLL
I entered university as a German major, Japanese minor. (Japanese was not offered as a major at my uni). I had never studied German previously, but I studied Spanish and French in high school and I just had this feeling that German and Japanese were the languages for me.
The first semester, I had Japanese 101 and German 101 back to back, in the EXACT SAME CLASSROOM. I can’t stress enough how much of a mindfuck it was to go from thinking about Japanese for 50 minutes, having a 10 minute break, and then trying to switch your brain to German. IN THE SAME ROOM. It actually gave me headaches to try and make that mental jump. Managed to pull through the year with A’s in both, but German was much more of a challenge to me than Japanese. Which was really unexpected.
I also flunked several gen eds because I didn’t give a shit about them and skipped them and got placed on academic probation and was nearly kicked out of uni because of my poor grades
Basically, I was such a weeb that I had watched enough anime with subtitles and sung along to enough anime songs that I had absorbed about 90% of the first year’s worth of Japanese vocab and grammar through osmosis. I really did have the power of God and anime on my side.
Year 2: The Year of the Mid-Midlife Crisis and Mental Breakdown
Tumblr media
There really is no gif that will encapsulate the level of turmoil I went through that year. I looked really hard for one, trust me.
It became apparent very quickly that I could not keep up with German. I ended up dropping it early in the first semester, which meant I had to choose a new major. Thinking of what would be practical to pair with a Japanese minor, I went for International Business for a semester, took Accounting, and realized that I HATE The Man, corporate bullshit, and also numbers as a concept.
All I knew at this point was that I liked Japanese but couldn’t make it a major. I also knew I didn’t want to transfer universities. So I kept taking gen eds, just barely passing them because to this day I cannot bring myself to put effort into something I do not care about, and also taking more classes related to my Japanese minor. It was the Japanese classes that saved my GPA and kept me from getting kicked out of uni.
At the same time, I took a creative writing course because that’s been a hobby of mine since elementary school, and I kinda thought about an English major, but then was like, “Eww I don’t wanna be forced to read books I don’t give a shit about. And also, what will I do with that degree?”
Also, at the same time, I was working full time, and often getting stuck working from 2 pm to 7 am (Yes, 15-hour shifts, because the overnight dude would call in sick last minute and I’d be begged to cover his shift), and then dragging myself to classes and drooling on the desks because I’d fall asleep.
Also also, I started to have possible hallucinations? To this day I don’t know what was going on, but either I was legitimately going crazy, or there was a demon following me around and being quite rude to me, making light fixtures fall and shatter inches from my head, throwing papers around my room, opening and closing doors, turning lights off and on, coming to me in dreams and doing some really, really traumatic things to me in them, and just standing in corners staring at me at all hours of the night. Had me so scared that towards the end of the school year I was waiting to sleep until sunrise, when it would go away. And no, I was not using any mind-altering substances of any sort. Not even going out and getting drunk.
So, yeah. Year Two was a hard one that I can’t believe I pushed through. Probably the darkest year of my life, I’d say. What got me through it? An unhealthy amount of energy drinks, friends, and my love of Japanese. Also Aerosmith.
Do I still see that demon? No. He vanished when the school year ended and I moved out of the dorms. Do I believe in the supernatural? Yes, to an extent. Do I think that what I was seeing was actually a demon? I honestly don’t know. I have had actual supernatural experiences verified by multiple witnesses, and a few years before Year 2, several friends and myself had seen an entity similar to what was following me around. But this one in Year 2 only did things when I was alone. So it could have all been in my head, and I will never know.
Since then, I have been diagnosed with general anxiety and also a form of insomnia that keeps me from sleeping through the night, and I know that my anxiety manifests itself in psychosomatic ways. In other words, my mind will take my anxiety and turn it into a physical symptom that feels real in every way, but is actually not occurring. So far it’s manifested as: sensitivity to sunlight, the symptoms of a stroke or heart attack, half of my face going numb, and headaches in my left eye. Once I realize that the symptom is just my anxiety, I can force myself to ignore and overcome it. But then my anxiety finds a new form to manifest, and the cycle repeats a few months later. It could be that my stress caused me to see this demon for a while.
Should I have consulted a psychiatrist and gotten help? YEP. If you find yourself struggling like that, seek help please. 💕
Year 3: Adrift But Afloat
Tumblr media
I moved out of the dorms and into an apartment with my best friend, a Japanese girl I met in the dorms freshman year. I will call her Setsuko. Setsuko is basically the reason I graduated uni. She memorized my class schedules and took copies of exam dates, woke me up, forced me to go classes instead of skipping, forced me to go to the library and study with her, and cooked me dinner most days since she didn’t have to work like I did. I can’t express enough how much she did to improve my life outside of school and work, and how much that improved my mental health. She also acclimated me to lots of subtle things about Japanese culture just by living with her, and this helped me later when I moved to Japan. Thank you, Setsuko. 一生の恩人。
I was still doing those bullshit 15-hour overnight shifts way more than I should have, and also had the maximum courseload.
The Japanese classes got a lot more difficult in Year 3. But I loved them. They were the only classes I never skipped. I took more classes towards the minor like Buddhist Philosophy and Japanese History, which I really enjoyed. While polishing off more gen eds, I thought over what to do with my major.
My family and friends all told me that I should become an English teacher. I had always been good at words and at explaining things. But I didn’t really like the idea of being a high school teacher. I became an English major, though, because I knew that I didn’t hate English. Took grammar classes and HOLY SHIT did I hit my stride.
I realized that I didn’t like English lit. I liked linguistics. So I focused heavily on all grammar and linguistics courses, taking the bare minimum of literature courses required for the major. My GPA improved substantially.
Yet I still was consumed with this nagging fear. It was Year 3 and I still had no fucking idea what I wanted to do when I graduated.
Year 4: Clarity At The 11th Hour
Tumblr media
Urged on by my “Don’t you dare get one of those stupid arts degrees that won’t get you a paycheck” parents, I decided that the most “practical” degree would not be “English,” but “English Education.” I began taking the English Ed classes with linguistics, grammar, and second language acquisition classes. The goal was to become a qualified English high school teacher who could also do ESL (since I had Spanish and Japanese under my belt more or less).
At the same time, I entered into Independent Study for Japanese with two other students. We were tasked with reading Izu no Odoriko, a classic short story. Independent study was its own beast. It required a lot more concentration and work on my part, obviously. But because Japanese was my first and foremost passion, I centered my efforts on those courses, and then on the others.
The process of getting certified to be an English teacher was lengthy and expensive in my state. This meant my graduation would be further prolonged, and I was worried about money, because I was already about $50,000 in debt at the time, despite working those fucking overnight shifts all the time that were eating me alive.
Then, during the summer vacation when my 4th year ended, I got a scholarship and went to Japan to study abroad. Education majors had the option to study abroad in several countries, and as luck would have it, one of them was Japan, and it was Setsuko’s HOMETOWN! The study abroad program itself was the first month of summer vacation, and Setsuko said, “Okay, just come stay at my house for the rest of summer vacation!”
Never have I said “yes” quicker in my entire life.
On the train headed from Sapporo to the town where I would be actually staying during my studies, I looked at the lush rice paddies and mountains in the distance and my entire heart just hummed with this “This is where you’re meant to be.” I knew then and there that I would move to Japan upon graduation.
What would I do there? Well, teach English, obviously.
My three months in Japan effectively aligned my entire life. My path had materialized before me. It was a roughly hacked, hard-to-see path through thick underbrush, but I could see it nonetheless.
Year 5: Let’s Hurry It Up, I’m Ready To Live
Tumblr media
Come Year 5, all of my Japanese classmates that had been with me since freshman year were gone and I was alone. My professor taught me Classical Japanese through independent study, and it was the must grueling course I took my entire five years there. But I found it invaluable and am eternally grateful to him for teaching me, because you see Classical Japanese a lot more than you’d think you would in everyday life. Particularly in formal settings.
I still wanted to get certified to teach English in American high schools, because while I knew I wanted to go to Japan for now, I didn’t know if I wanted to spend my entire life there and I wanted a solid job opportunity when I came back to the states at some point.
However, the more education courses I took, the more I saw that the American education system was just as full of red-tape and The Man’s bullshit as corporate America, something else I rebuke with every fiber of my being. I also realized I’d need to take a 6th year of university, and that just wasn’t financially feasible for me. So I switched to a plain old English major with a heavy focus on linguistics and second language acquisition, and continued classical Japanese.
I took the remaining 3 gen eds online in the summer, graduated, popped up to Chicago to do a month-long intensive course to get the CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages issued by Cambridge.) It’s the most widely accepted and revered certification for teaching English as a foreign language.
So in the span of five years, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a focus in linguistics and SLA, and what is technically a major in Japanese Studies. 40 credit hours were required for a major, and I completed 42 credit hours tied to my minor, so while it isn’t listed on my diploma as a major, I did the coursework. I also got a CELTA Pass B, which only 20% of applicants achieve and never expires. The grand total for all of this was roughly $100,000 USD in loans.
Post-Graduation
Tumblr media
The week I came back to my hometown from Chicago with my CELTA in hand, I packed my suitcases, threw a going-away party, and then flew to Sapporo, where I began my first job after uni, teaching English to children aged 0-18 at a private English conversation school. I did that for three years before changing careers and becoming a Japanese-English translator/interpreter for a global company.
So how useful have my choices during university proven to be?
I’m sure I don’t have to explain that studying Japanese helps me tons with translating Japanese to English or living in Japan lol
Studying English grammar, linguistics, sociolinguistics, and second language acquisition has allowed me to recognize minute nuances that can make the difference between a successful and unsuccessful business negotiation when interpretation is necessary.
My background in education also means that I know how to present information clearly, concisely, and in a way that engages the audience. I am known as “The PowerPoint Pro” at work lol.
I also have a keen eye for performance evaluation, behavior analysis, and improvement action plans.
I offered English conversation lessons to coworkers for over a year, and now that is being done in other branches across the company! (Well, they were before COVID haha.)
I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING THE HOURS I WORKED WHILE IN SCHOOL. My grades suffered and I wish I had worked less and focused more on classes. However, by working 15-hour shifts and doing full days of classes, I developed a very good tolerance for overtime, which comes in handy in the Japanese workplace. Just last month I had three 15 hour days in the same week. Sweet, sweet overtime pay.
All of these facets have culminated in me earning a pretty nice promotion to 正社員 seishain back in February, which means I get nice benefits and basically my job is guaranteed until I die or the company goes under.
Should I decide to return to America someday, I will probably not go into the education field. Too much red tape. I will likely continue translation/interpretation for companies, because it isn’t too difficult and pays well. Though ideally I’d love to just make a living sharing cool information about Japanese and stuff, and maybe writing those stories that are bouncing around in my head when I should be working haha.
Do I think the debt is worth it?
Well, I don’t think I had any other option than to take out those loans. I didn’t have the means to learn the things I wanted to learn unless I went to university.
Unless Japanese work visa requirements have changed, you are required to have a bachelor’s degree in order to obtain my sub-type of work-visa, so I needed a degree of some kind no matter what.
Frankly, if I hadn’t gone to that university and met my best friend Setsuko, I don’t think I’d be where I am right now, living the life I am now. So just having met her is worth any price to me.
Paying off all the loans is daunting, especially when yen is weak to the dollar. There were months I had to ask my parents for help, especially early on. But now I’ve got multiple loans paid off, my salary has increased, and the “omg i have money and no supervision so I can buy whatever I want” idiocy has mostly gone away. But I did get a super sweet pair of blindingly silver Converses a couple days ago that I definitely didn’t need
Do I have any regrets regarding my time at university?
I still regret dropping Old English for a stupid English Ed class. Seriously, how cool would that have been? But I still have the textbook, workbook, and I contacted the professor last week and she was kind enough to send me a syllabus. God bless her. So now I’m working on that bit by bit, which is fun.
I wish I hadn’t been such a cocky, naive idiot my first year. Thinking I could just “show up for tests” was the stupidest thing. It messed up my GPA, and my parents forbade me from retaking classes so I couldn’t go back and fix my mistakes. I think I graduated with a 3.4 overall GPA out of 4, but my English major GPA was 3.9 and my Japanese GPA was 4.0. So it’s pretty frustrating to have those gen eds and my dumbfuckery mar my transcript like that.
I really didn’t party at all. Most all of my friends were straight-laced Japanese exchange students, and I was also working ridiculous hours so I just didn’t really have the time. A part of me feels like I missed out on that part of the college experience.
Recently I’ve been putting more effort into improving my creative writing by reading a lot of books on the subject. Not a small part of me wishes that I had gone with a Creative Writing major instead of English major, because I still would have studied all the grammar and linguistics. Then again, I do believe that creative writing can be self-taught.
I wish I hadn’t worked as much as I did. There were a lot of times I couldn’t complete assignments or I missed lectures because I was just so drained. It wasn’t even good money.
Well...I did not intend for this post to become as long as it has. I’ve been cooped up in my apartment with nothing but two goldfish for company for over a month now and I think I’m a bit stir-crazy. Thank you to anyone and everyone who bothered to read all of this and become my therapist for a bit haha. Love you all. Stay safe and well. 💖

Captain Magnum x gender neutral!reader
@rattyships ty for the request!
A/N: YES the title is a quote, YES it's from That One Song™, YES I based this fic off of that idea, leave me alone. Uh... Christmas. Yeah. Captain Magnum seems way too calm in this fic for my own liking, but y'know. Reader can paint even though I am physically unable to, so. There's that. Fluffy. Rated PG because there's one two "hell"s and one "damn" and that's it. It's cheesy and that's why it's great.
Word Count: 2.0k
--
You paced around your cabin, very anxious. Christmas was in three days! What were you supposed to get everyone? You didn't know what anyone liked! Or that they even celebrated…
Well, who says no to a gift, right?
You went over to your secret chest (nobody on that damn ship knew how to share) and opened it up to see how much treasure you had. Not much, but it was there. You could buy a lot in normal markets with these. Maybe you could convince the Captain to take you back home for the holidays?
Well, you never know until you try, right?
But what would you buy? They have quite enough gold and jewels, none of them seem to have any interest in anything, you doubted they'd like something homemade…
This was gonna be difficult.
You sighed and closed your chest, walking over to your door. You opened it to find said Captain standing there, the rest of the crew behind him.
"Hi, Captain," you blinked in surprise. You probably should have been more confused than you were, but this boat was already super weird. He was smiling at you.
"Mornin', first mate!" He greeted. "We found a treasure map on a ship we were lootin'. We're about t' start searchin' fer treasure!"
"Oh. Alright. Gimme a minute," you smiled and closed the door. You sighed and rested your back on the door. Maybe you could find something on the island to give them…?
"Yeah, they'll love a nice flower crown…" You snorted at your own idea. You sighed and grabbed up your stuff, opening your door and walking over to the crew. They were all talking about how they couldn't wait to find more treasure. You rolled your eyes. Don't they have enough of it? You took a head count of how many of them there were. Five… five crewmates, five presents. Captain Magnum noticed you and smiled.
"Thar ye be! I thought ye would lock yourself in yer cabin th' whole day!" He, along with the rest of the crew, laughed. You smiled saltily. "Wha' were ye doin' in thar?" You looked around, trying to come up with something.
"Um… I was… I was…" you looked out onto the horizon for a moment, your eyes softening. The crew looked at you.
"Y/N?" One of them called to you. "Are ye-"
"Painting," you interrupted.
"What?" Magnum asked.
"I was… painting…" you looked back to them. They all stared at you for a minute.
"You… you paint?" One woman asked. You smiled and nodded at her. All of the crewmates looked at each other for a minute.
"Uh… wha' d' ye paint?" The other woman asked. You shrugged.
"Whatever, really. Animals, landscapes, whatever's in my room…" you looked over at Captain Magnum to make sure this was okay. He sighed and plopped himself down on a stair. You smiled and turned back to the group.
--
You explained painting to the crew for 15 minutes. You had no idea they'd be so interested in your hobby. They asked so many questions, some of which you'd somehow never heard. How long had these people been at sea?
Eventually, you looked over to see Captain Magnum looking impatiently at the island the ship landed at 10 minutes ago. You chuckled at him and stood up.
"Captain's getting a bit annoyed, guys. Let's go," the crew complained, but got off of the ship as you walked over to the Captain. He raised an eyebrow at you and you mimicked the action.
"They find ye mighty interestin'," he commented. You smiled.
"Yeah. Not more than you though. I doubt anything could be more interesting than those logs you have for legs." You both looked at each other for a moment before laughing. He stood and you both followed the crew off of the ship.
He lead the way to where the treasure was, the rest of you trailing close behind. One of the crewmates, a boy who looked no older than twenty-one, took your arm. You raised both eyebrows and looked at him.
"So… wha' were ye sayin' about watercolors?" He asked softly. You smiled as the other crew members gathered around you again. You looked up at Captain Magnum, who was smiling at you all. He chuckled and turned back around, continuing to lead the way. You sighed.
"Alright… so watercolor is probably one of the most well-known types of paint…"
--
You had found treasure on the island, and most of the crewmates became interested in that, but the boy who has asked you about watercolors stayed as you explained how people originally made paints from flowers. You saw the curious look in his eyes, and decided what you were gonna get everyone for Christmas.
You were gonna paint for them.
What, you weren't sure. But you sure as hell were gonna paint. Maybe… their favorite animals? Or maybe an object they really liked…
You decided to ask them what they liked.
The woman with the bandana really liked sea creatures. Specifically, narwhals. They were very pretty and could also impale people. She liked that about them. You didn't think she noticed you scribbling everything she said into a small notebook.
The woman with the eyepatch really liked swords. She knew a lot about them; names, origins, uses… it was slightly unnerving, but you couldn't judge.
The boy liked plants. He liked the fact that they were living beings, just like people and animals. Only, they were smaller and couldn't talk. They could, however, feel. And he liked that. You couldn't get over how soft he was…
The man who was first mate before you liked… hats. He liked that they all basically had the same function, but looked so different. You could respect that. Hats were very cool.
The next day, you decided to paint them pictures of their favorite things in their respective color schemes, and added a different color for each background. A blue and white narwhal with a green background, a red and black sword with a navy blue background, a black and orange flower with a dark green background, and a brown and maroon hat with a pastel red background (no, not pink. There's a difference). You spent an entire day painting the pictures. They turned out very well, in your opinion. You just hoped the crew felt the same.
After you were finished with those, you asked Captain Magnum what his favorite thing was. He thought for a moment, stroking his beard.
"Well… I suppose it'd be treasure!" He answered. You knitted your eyebrows together.
"Really? Treasure?" You asked, hoping for something more.
"O' course, treasure! I be a pirate aft all! Wha' would I like if it nah be treasure?" You sighed in slight disappointment. You thought that you would find something new about him but, nope. He loves treasure the most. You nodded and turned around.
"Well, that or ye." You stopped dead in your tracks. Did you hear that right? You slowly turned back towards him. He looked away from you, towards the horizon. The setting sun illuminated his face, tinting it orange, pink, and yellow. He looked like he was ripped right from a movie...
"What was that?" You asked, slightly distracted by how beautiful he looked.
"Treasure be a pirate's fav'rit thin' o' course. But, since ye showed up... I reckon me fav'rit "thin'" be me first mate. Ye." He said nonchalantly. A small smile creeped onto your face. Magnum looked at you, since you hadn't said anything in a while.
"So, you're saying… you love me?" You asked, fishing for compliments. Magnum flushed a bit. It was mostly hidden due to the sun, but you could still see.
"Well… er…" He scratched the back on his head, thinking of how to respond.
"Cause that's what I'm hearing here…"
"Um…"
"Exactly how much do you love me, Captain?" You smirked, leaning on the side of the ship, your cheek in your palm. Magnum finally took a deep breath and looked in your eyes.
"More than all th' treasure in all th' seven seas…" he stated. Your eyes widened as your smirk fell. You felt your face heat up and you turned away from him.
"Well, uh…" you coughed, "I should… get to bed… wanna be up early tomorrow, so…" you shuffled away.
"First Mate Y/N!" He called. You turned back towards him.
"Merry Christmas." He said. You smiled.
"Merry Christmas, Captain."
--
You walked into the deck, the crew already gathered. You figured Magnum must've gotten them. You took a deep breath and walked over, the paintings in your arms. The crew all waved and greeted you. You smiled and stood in front of them.
"So, uh… it's Christmas as you may or may not know…" you explained nervously. "So, um… I decided that, as gifts, I was going to paint for you all… and these were the results." You move forward and pass out all the works you painted. All of the crew seemed happy with their pictures. They showed them to each other and gawked over the detail and bragged about how good they looked. You finally walked up to Magnum, who was steering. You held out a painting to him.
"Wha', fer me?" He raised his eyebrows and took the picture. It was of a red, blue, yellow, and black ship with a sunset in the background and sparkling green and blue waves. The words "a pirate's life for me" were written on the back. He laughed heartily and pulled you into a hug.
"Oh, ye really outdid yourself, mate! 'tis wonderful!" He complimented. You managed to pull yourself out of the hug after a minute or two and handed him an envelope. He looked over at the rest of the crew and, upon seeing that no one else had one, tilted his head a bit.
"It's from her," You explained, pointing. Magnum nodded and looked over at the woman who was showing off her narwhal. She glanced at the Captain and winked as the boy with the flower painting giggled. Magnum plopped down onto a step, but you stayed standing. He opened the envelope to reveal a card. On the inside, it said "This thing you two have is special, more special than anything I could try to get. I can, however, make you realize exactly what you have". You frowned.
"What's that supposed to mean?" You asked. Magnum shrugged and gave you the envelope. You looked inside, seeing something green. You took it out and your eyes widened.
Mistletoe.
Mistletoe?
Where the hell did they find mistletoe?!
You looked at Captain Magnum, who was staring at you. He raised both eyebrows at the plant in your hand. You were holding it between you two accidentally (on purpose).
"We don't 'ave t' if ye don't wants t'..." He told you. You took a deep breath, telling yourself to stop being so weird about it because you knew he loved you back. Besides, the crew had all left to put their gifts in their rooms. You leaned down, since he was sitting, and softly connected your lips. He sat there for a moment, eyes wide, before closing them. You both stayed like that for a few seconds before you pulled away all too soon. His eyes looked hazy as you smiled.
"Merry Christmas." You whispered and walked to your room, leaving Magnum to process what happened.
You entered your room and leaned your back on the door, smiling widely.
"Well, that was the best Christmas present ever…" you mumbled to yourself. You started to giggle as you continued to think about it. You put your hands on your face in embarrassment. It was only a couple seconds, why were you being so weird? You jumped a bit when you heard a gentle knock at your door. You turned around and tilted your head. Who could that be? It was getting late and the crew had already shown their appreciation…
Unless…
You opened the door to reveal, you guessed it, Captain Magnum. He was holding the mistletoe you had left on the deck. You looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He smiled.
"Do ye... Uh... Wanna do that again?" He asked sheepishly. You laughed a bit before smiling up at him.
"Absolutely."

The Southsider (pt. 11)
Sweet Pea x reader
Chapter Summary: The next big step in y/n's life has different chain reactions.
Warning: a bit of NSFW (I put where it starts and ends if you want to skip it)

Chapter 1 • Chapter 10 • Chapter 12
Tumblr media
You and Betty had waited for Archie and Veronica to come in his dad's truck. You made a pit stop at the trailer to go get the lingerie, then headed to Betty's house. You and Betty rode in the trunk while Archie and Veronica were inside the truck.
As they dropped the two of you off, they drove off. "They're on their way to go get you an outfit."
"Holy crap, did you guys practice this or something? How are you all so prepared?"
"Because we wanted this day to be special for you." Betty tugged on your hand. "Now let's go, we have makeup to put on."
When she was done you looked in the mirror. You had on dark red lipstick, along with mascara and a small amount of eyeliner. "Okay, I'm here." Veronica said as she walked into the room. "And I brought the perfect outfit."
You slipped into your one piece lingerie, then putting on the black leather crop top with a zipper in the front. You then put on a black skirt. You looked in the mirror. The crop top made the lingerie show, but it looked good with it. Your hair has down, perfectly complementing your face.
You then went downstairs, ignoring Alice's judgments about your outfit. "Your chariot awaits." Veronica said as you stepped onto the back of the truck.
You all got there, and you looked at the bar doors, more nervous than ever. Archie gave you a side hug. "You look good y/n/n. C'mon, let's show Sweet Pea." You smiled at him and walked in with your friends behind you.
Sweet Pea was leaning on the pool table talking to people when he saw the doors open. What he saw was something he wasn't ready for. He stared at you in awe, not knowing how to react. You went up to him and leaned into him, feeling a sense of new found confidence. "Hey baby. You like my outfit?" You asked sweetly.
"Y/n," he breathed out. "You look amazing." He put his hands on your hips as you ran your hands up his chest, standing on your toes to kiss him. He stood down at your lips. "Where's all this coming from?"
You hummed. "Just wanted to do something special for you. You deserve it." You smiled.
He smiled back. "You're perfect." He curled his fingers under your chin, bringing you into a deep kiss.
You chuckled. "I got a little bit of lipstick on you." You ran your thumb over his bottom lip to his the lipstick smudge off. "Sorry."
"Don't be, it only shows everyone how lucky I am." You giggled at his sweet talk. He bit his lip. "So beautiful." He mumbled, more to himself than anyone else.
You were about to kiss again before you heard a voice calling out your name. "Y/n." Toni said, giving you a look.
You nod your head, tapping Sweet Pea's shoulders. "I gotta go do something, but I'll be back in a few minutes."
"Do what?" He was a little frustrated that you slipped out of his arms.
"You'll see." You said as you looked at him and smiled while you walked off.
Fangs had walked up to Sweet Pea, putting him on the back. He knew what you were going to do. He smirked. "You ready?"
"For what?" He then took notice in the three Northsiders inside the Whyte Wrym. He went up to them. "What are you guys doing here?"
"We wouldn't miss y/n's big night." Betty said. "This is very special to her."
Before he could ask anything, Kevin came rushing in. "Hi, sorry I'm a little late. Did I miss it?"
"Nope, she's about to go on." Veronica gave an excited smile.
"What the hell are you all talking about?" Archie simply pointed to the stage.
There you were, looking as gorgeous as ever in Sweet Pea's eyes. Gangsta by Kehlani began to play, and you slowly stripped. When all that was left was your lingerie, you began to dance on the pole beside you. You never lost eye contact with him during the whole dance.
When it was over Jughead stepped onto the stage, putting your mother's jacket over your shoulders. "Let's give it up for y/n, the new serpent!"
Everybody clapped and cheered. You smiled and looked down in bashfulness. You then got off the stage, making your way to Sweet Pea, but being blocked by your friends. "Oh, my God. I am literally obsessed with all of that." Kevin said.
Toni handed you your clothes, and you quickly slipped them back on. Veronica went through her purse, taking out a makeup wipe. "Here you go." You took it with a confused look on you. "You'll have to get rid of that for what comes next. Trust me."
She winked at you, to which you were still confused as to why. Yet you still wiped off the makeup, knowing that she really did mean something. "Well," Fangs said, tapping you on the shoulder. "What comes next is heading your way."
- smut starts -
You turned to see Sweet Pea with a serious face on. "Hey-" he cut you off by grabbing your wrist and pulling you out of the bar. "Pea, is something wro-"
He cut you off with a kiss. This time, his hands rummaged your body. As you shifted you felt a tint in his pants brush against your pelvis, causing a moan to escape him. "Pea." You breathed out.
His lips then went down to your neck. "Let's go to my trailer, y/n/n."
"Sweets." You let out a small moan.
"I want this day to be special." He then brought his head back to look at you. "Let me make you feel good."
You only nodded your head, feeling in a daze. He took your hands and walked backwards to his bike, gently smiling at you. He couldn't think of anyone else he would want to be this close to him. You were special. You deserved a special night.
You wrapped your arms around him as you got on the bike, gasping at the feeling from sitting on the seat. You never felt this feeling before. The feeling of wanting someone this badly.
You got to his trailer and went inside. As soon as that door shut, his hands were on you. He slid your jacket off, tossing it on the table and backing you up until your back hit the counter. He wrapped his arms around your thighs, hoisting you up.
He brought his hands to your face, bringing you in for a needy kiss. He placed himself in between your legs, moaning into your mouth as the bulge in his pants rubbed against your core, which also released a small whine from you.
His hands left your cheeks as you pushed off his flannel. You broke the kiss for a second as you lifted his shirt, running your hands down his muscular upper half. As you both hungrily kissed each other, you stripped off your clothing, leaving you in your lingerie and Sweet Pea in unbuckled pants.
"Bed." You managed to say. He picked you up, igniting a giggle from you. You were more than happy to let Sweet Pea see all of you, but at the same time you were nervous. He set you gently down on the bed, begining to remove your lingerie, but was stopped by your hand just before your breasts were going to be uncovered. "Pea, wait."
He immediately sat up. "What happened? Did I do something wrong?"
"No no no baby your perfect." You look away from him, feeling ashamed of your body more than ever for some reason. "It's just, um, this is my first time. So, uh, be gentle, yeah?"
He leaned down to kiss you. "It's my first time too." You then looked at him in the eyes. "We're gonna figure this out together." He put his hands on your waist, rubbing over your sides with his thumbs to sooth you. "Don't worry, I've got you, okay?" You nodded, feeling more loved than you ever felt.
- smut ends -
After your moments of pleasure with Sweet Pea, you and him were snuggled up together, nude and enjoying the warmth of each other. "I wish I could stay with you." You said against his chest.
"Then stay the night, so I won't miss you." He hugged you, and you let out a tired chuckle.
"You know I can't, but I'll miss you too." You looked up at him and brushed his messy hair out of his face.
"I love you." He said quietly, causing you to stop what you were doing.
"What?"
"I love you y/n." There was only silence from you. You needed to process this. He sat up and buried his face into his hands, feeling rejected. "Damnit, I'm sorry. I should have waited longer, or done more things and I-"
You sat up and grabbed his hands, silencing him. "I love you too Sweet Pea." You brought his hands to your face, to which he brought your lips to his. "Please stop doubting yourself, Pea. I think your perfect."
He brought you into his lap, both of you still nude, leaving light kisses along your collarbone. He then looked up at you with innocent eyes. You peacefully smiled and let out a breath. "Let's get you home."
He took you home and kissed you goodnight. You got inside and took a shower, getting ready to go to sleep when FP came inside. "Hey kid, heard you did the serpent dance earlier."
You sat on your air mattress, folding your legs. "Mhm! I just need my tattoo, and I'll be a full blown serpent."
He smiled. "Well, we could get that done right now." He nodded for you to come to the table, where he got out his equipment. "Where do you want it?"
You thought about it. Where was a place that everyone could see it? Where could you proudly show it? You told FP where to put it, and after he was finished you all went to sleep.
The next day you rode to school with Sweet Pea, hiding the back of your hand. You wanted to wait until the right moment. As you got to school you were more cheerful and peppy, which Sweet Pea was loving. He was acting the same way with people, a smile hardly leaving his face. It freaked some people out.
That was until Reggie Mantle caught wind of the happiness between the two. Instead of going to you, he figured he would go to Sweet Pea this time. It was passing period, and you and Fangs were on your way to third period when you both saw Reggie walk up to Sweet Pea.
You were about to walk up to the both of them before Fangs pulled you aside, telling you to listen in as the other two talked. "Hey there Sweet Pea." He patted him on the shoulder.
Sweet Pea wasn't going to let him ruin his day. "Sorry, Mantle, but I don't feel like hearing from you right now. I feel too good right now."
He clasped his shoulder. He was about to leave when Reggie pushed him back. "I heard y/n's a serpent now. That's a shame, I liked her better as a Northsider."
"Too bad she's not." He smirked. "She made her choice, and she did what made her happy."
You smiled, looking at the back of your left hand. You ran your thumb over your tattoo, to which Fangs grabbed your hand and congratulated you. You both hugged and hushed each other a second later to keep listening in.
"Or what she thinks will make you happy. Think about it dude, she's moved out of the bad side of town and got some good friends. She'll stay out of trouble and the spotlight, which seems like what she wants. But she gave that up for you. You really gonna let her do all these things that she don't like just because she knows you want her to?"
The bell rang, and Fangs tugged you to class. You felt bad. That wasn't true at all. You didn't care whether you were on the bad side of town or not, or whether people noticed you. Sweet Pea was right, you did what made you happy.
As the bell rang Reggie left, leaving Sweet Pea in his thoughts. Did he really pressure you into doing all those things? Would you have been happier if you just stayed with your friends and never have talked to him?
This nagged the both of you all third period. When the bell finally rang for fourth period after what seemed like forever, you both headed to your shared class. Sweet Pea got there early, dreading this day.
As you entered the class, Sweet Pea sat up. Instead of going to your row, you went to the row next to yours, Sweet Pea's row. He didn't notice, focusing on what he was about to say. "Can we talk after class-"
You cut him off by kissing him. It was deep and passionate. He was surprised, but kissed back unconsciously. When you pulled back he was gasping for air, flushed with swollen lips.
"Sure." You said casually, hopping into your seat and paying attention to the board. You always knew how to make him feel a little better.
After class you both went by the door after everybody cleared out of the classroom. "What's wrong?" You fiddled with his jacket, a small smile on you.
"So, I was talking with somebody, and-"
"Was that somebody Reggie?" You looked up at him.
He wasn't expecting that. "You know?"
You nodded your head, putting your hands on his shoulders. "Why would you listen to anything he said?" You asked quietly. You didn't want him to feel any worse than he already did.
He shifted in his place, looking away from you. "Because he's right y/n. You're putting what you want on hold for me. You don't deserve that."
"You're what I want. I'm happy with being known as someone from the Southside. I don't care if I'm noticed by people. I feel like I don't deserve you."
He quickly looked at you. "Hey, that's not true. Don't sell yourself short like that! Why would you say that you don't deserve me?"
You let your arms fall beside you. "Because you've had to deal with all my crap this whole time. I'm literally walking baggage, and you're still right next to me to wipe my tears."
He crossed his arms. "Yeah, but I don't care about that stuff, I care about you."
"It's the same way for me!" Sweet Pea didn't look too convinced, and refused to look at you. You gently brought your hand to his cheek, turning his head to look at you. You then showed him the back of your left hand. "This is proof that I'm happy with the choices that I've made for my life."
Sweet Pea stared at the tattoo. "You're an official serpent." He said, more to himself than you. You nodded and smiled. He then looked at you and immediately backed you up against the wall, arm above your head. "I love you." The words came out as a whisper as he stared at your lips.
You puts your hands on his cheeks. "I love you too Sweets, so so much." Your lips then connected, feeling so right together.
As you both kissed, your moment was ruined when Fangs walked by and smacked Sweet Pea on the back. "Keep it in your pants Pea!" He called out, running away.
"Damnit Fangs!"
As you giggled and clung to him, you didn't think about the effects of joining the Serpents, especially not one caused by a person who wasn't associated with them at all. A certain person caught wind of your joining of a new family. This person thought that you were punishing yourself by being miserable. But there you were, a happy sinner. You couldn't stay that way. After all, Hal Cooper punishes sinners.

DEFENDING...
THOR: RAGNAROK!
Okay, so yesterday I asked you guys which is your least favourite MCU movie and why. I said I'd take the most commonly disliked film and try and defend it, using my personal reasonings as well as attempting to counter what issues you had with it yourselves.
Firstly, I'm quite surprised that Ragnarok was the most hated! I was expecting Age of Ultron or Iron-Man 3 (though they weren't too far behind). To make it clear, it's okay to dislike this movie, my attempt at defending the movie is just a bit of fun, but if it lets you see and appreciate the movie in a different light then that's cool! If it doesn't then that's cool too! Here goes...
I'll start with why I personally love Ragnarok, and how it was actually my favourite MCU movie, until Infinity War inevitably took that spot.
Thor was the first character in the franchise to introduce outerspace, and the cosmic side of the cinematic universe. With Iron-Man, Hulk and Cap being restricted to Earth, Thor was key to broadening what types of stories they could tell, what sort of threats and stakes could arise etc. The first Thor movie was certainly a bold move at the time, hoping that audiences would embrace the fantastical themes that he and Asgard brought to the table. Bar Thanos, Thor and Loki are the reason sh*t's going down in the first Avengers movie, so you have them to thank for that.
Flash forward to Dark World however, at this point we've seen Asgard already, so the novelty has worn off slightly. As much as the movie expands our view of Thor's home, we still feel very restricted, as though we're only seeing through a keyhole, when we actually wanna bust the door down and see what an outerspace adventure could really offer, hence why people gravitate towards Guardians of the Galaxy so heavily, because it let loose and didn't feel like it was shying away from the sci-fi elements that made the property what it was.
So with Dark World leaving a bad taste in our mouths (even though I think it's underratedly funny, but perhaps another time), and Thor not quite standing out in Age of Ultron, we're left thinking, do we really even want another Thor movie at this point? Something had to change. The studios' take on Thor was good in ways, but wasn't gripping people as much as say Iron-Man and Cap. If Captain America could have an amazing sequel, why couldn't Thor? With the damage already done via Dark World however, Ragnarok had to be Marvel's shot at redemption and reinvigoration, and I personally think it was.
There's no arguing Ragnarok was a bold step to take Thor, though not everyone agrees it was for the better. Could the Thor we were used to still work given the correct writing and direction? Who knows, but with already 'failing' once with Dark World, it was surely less of a risk to go for something completely unexpected. We go from majestic golds and elegant architecture, to crazy, vibrant, jagged imperfections that you'd expect to see in a retro sci-fi movie. The Thor we knew and expected has lightened up a little, during his few years between Age of Ultron and now, scouring the universe for information on the Infinity Stones. No pun intended, but perhaps his absent couple of years provided some much needed soul searching. So to those that wonder why Thor is suddenly so funny and witty, he's been out and about off-screen for quite a while loosening up! That's how I like to see it at least.
In the first 10 minutes, we're given more cosmic calamity than any of the other Thor movie has provided in their joint runtimes. He's in the fiery realm of Muspelheim, kicking the crap out of hellish minions and their giant demonic flame lord, Surtur, whilst the Immigrant Song plays. Then moments later, there's a damn dragon beast that's on fire that chases him, as the coolest little synth melody twinkles in the background. That cool little action scene not only gave Mjölnir the ultimate send off, but I remember thinking just from that point, "This is what Thor movies are meant to be like! This is already my favourite MCU movie!"
I think the comedy is people's biggest issue with the film. Admittedly, the style of humour was a little jarring at first, but I soon let go of doubts and embraced what the movie was trying to do. Notice how I said 'style' of humour, and not just 'humour' as a whole, because a lot of people forget just how comedic the first two Thor movies actually are. I feel like humour allows a sort of alleviation to what could potentially be something rather odd on screen. That way, if the movie embraces it's outlandish source materials, the comedy allows us to laugh with it, rather than at it. I think people are okay with the inclusion of comedic elements - I think they just weren't expecting the amplification that it had. So as I said, you can either let that ruin the film, or you can embrace/accept it, because there is just as much heart in this film as there is humour.
I know there's people that think Hela was wasted. Having watched these movies countless times, I rarely see any issues with villains anymore. The fabled 'villain problem' springs to mind, where everyone says that they were just there as a device to make the hero save the day. But what's actually wrong with that technically speaking? And how is that any different to other movies outside of the superhero realm? I see most of these villains as stepping stones for the heroes. These movies belong to the heroes, so the way I see it, the villains are there to develop and shape the good guy into whatever the finished product may be by the time the credits roll, just like all the other characters do in the movie. To prove this point, everyone loves Thanos as a villain, but that's because Infinity War was his movie, given the amount of time spent with him. I think the only exception is Loki, but his character is so well-received because he sits within the grey area of good and bad. We've seen both sides of him now.
Yes, I understand that villains are a little lack luster in most of these movies, but I liked what Hela brought to the franchise. We get the shock of discovering Thor has an older sister, she manages to take over Asgard, she demolishes everything in sight, she was the reason Thor is reinvigorated via his new right eye and weapon, she forced Thor's hand, making him enact Ragnarok (even though there's no stopping Ragnarok but it was a cool twist) and destroy Asgard, she was the first main female villain at long last, and she had a giant wolf. Some films spend more time with the villain, and some sacrifice it to focus more on the hero. There's never a straight 50:50 between good and evil in their storytelling, and I imagine it's always a hard call to make when balancing and ensuring that not only do the audience care for the hero, but also everything and everyone around them. Regardless the solo hero is always the focal point. Unless you're watching Breaking Bad or American Psycho or... *Lists shows and movies told from the bad guy's perspective*
I think the underlining disapproval stems from the fresh direction that it took. His hammer goes bye-byes, his warrior friends die just like that, Thor no longer looks or acts like the Thor we're used to, and Jane moved on. People will either be okay with those things, or it'll be too much to accept. Was the film too bold? Perhaps, but Thor can conduct lightning through his body now and that fight scene on the Bifrost bridge was badass.
Jokes aside, I suppose it's up to the individual audience member to decide whether or not the change is too much. A part of me wishes that the Thor we currently have was the Thor from the get go - things would've been different, but I love the character no matter what weapon or haircut you give him. Ragnarok gave the God of Thunder the opportunity to prove why he's a badass and not just a guy that relies on a hammer. They turned the dial up on his power level, and then again in Infinity War, which is good because I feel like prior to Ragnarok, Thor was kinda just there, y'know?
Everyone has their own favourite and least favourite movie, and no one should force you to alter your personal interests and disinterests, but if I were to wrap up what I thought of the film, Thor: Ragnarok to me is a fun, crazy joyride from start to finish, that provided a lot of heart as well as light-heartedness. It introduced some new, diverse characters whilst also giving the Hulk a much-needed story arc. A bold game-changer for the character and the lore he contributes to the MCU. It's the type of change I can appreciate and most definitely get behind!
What do you guys think? Have I swayed your opinions, or do you hate the movie more now! Let me know. Thanks for reading! Shall I do more of these? Let me know that too. I'm off to buy snacks and watch Ragnarok now, no joke!

This Is Why I Don’t Socialize (Her Shadows Ch. 2)
Tumblr media
Makoto and I walked down the hallway, occasionally exchanging a few words, but mostly just taking everything in. When we decided we'd done enough exploring, we checked the time and saw that we still had 45 minutes until class started.
"What are we supposed to do now?" Makoto whined, putting his arms behind his head.
"We could always go bug the staff in the teachers' lounge," I suggested.
Makoto got this sly smile on his face as he nodded vigorously. So together we made our way to the teachers' lounge, where Dad and a bunch of the other teachers were sure to be. We arrived at the door to the lounge and I pushed it open. As soon as we walked in, we saw a lot of the teachers hanging out and chatting, All Might included. Also, yes, Makoto and I know about All Might, his injury, and how he can't stay in "hero form" for very long. We hang out around UA so often it would have been impossible for them to keep it a secret from us, so Principal Nezu just flat out told us what happened.
"Well, well, well," Midnight said with a smile. "Look at who got into the Hero Course!"
Makoto and I looked at each other and chuckled as we walked in. Midnight immediately stood up and came over to Mako and me.
"You two have gotten to be so much stronger since the last time I saw you," she said, patting our heads.
"Thanks, Midnight," Mako responded. "That means a lot, coming from you."
Midnight gave us a closed eye smile and walked back to her seat on the couch. Mako and I walked over to the counter that the coffee maker was on and began to make ourselves some coffee. Nobody stopped us because it wasn't uncommon for us to be here. When we were both homeschooled and UA was in session, we would spend the majority of our time in the teachers' lounge and socialize with the teachers that didn't have a class. Suffice to say, everyone was used to our presence at this point.
"What are you two doing here?"
Mako and I turned around to see Dad standing right in front of us, his eyes half-closed and his yellow sleeping bag hanging over his shoulder.
"We're making coffee," I responded. "What does it look like?"
Dad sighed dramatically before turning back around and walking to a corner in the room. He climbed into his sleeping bag and fell back asleep. Mako and I turned to each other and laughed as we waited for the coffee to finish brewing. Right as we were pouring our coffee, Present Mic came up to us with an attitude that was way too cheerful for this early in the morning.
"WHAT'S UP, MY DUDES?" He boomed. "YOU PUNKS READY TO DAB THIS DAY?!"
Internally Mako and I cringed. Mic always tried to be "hip" but the way he used slang was nothing short of cringey. I'm absolutely convinced the man gets all of his slang and memes off of Facebook.
"Yeah," Mako said. "I think we are."
"Well good job, both of you, for getting into UA," he said, talking much softer. "We're all very proud of you."
Mako and I looked around the room to see all of the teachers looking at us with varying degrees of pride in their eyes. I almost started crying, but managed to keep the tears from surfacing. Even All Might looked like he was proud of us and he'd only known us since the entrance exam ended. I bowed in thanks to everyone and saw Mako do the same out of the corner of my eye.
The two of us spent the rest of the time we had in the teachers' lounge talking to all of the teachers. We had a really nice conversation with All Might and it was a little surprising to hear how down to earth he was. After checking the time on the clock on the wall, I noticed we only had 10 minutes until class started. I nudged Mako and nodded my head toward the clock. He nodded in response upon seeing the time and we both stood up.
"Thank you for your time," we said in unison to All Might while bowing to him.
"It was my pleasure, you two," he said, waving his hand a little in embarrassment that we were bowing.
We smiled at him and quickly washed our coffee mugs in the sink. Grabbing our bags, we walked out of the teachers' lounge saying a general goodbye to all of the teachers. Just as we got out of the lounge, Dad exited with us and closed the door behind him.
"Which classroom are you going to?" I asked him.
"That's none of your business," he responded with a teasing smile. The smile fell from his face as soon as he started talking again. "Now, I can't have you two punks ruining my image. So get going."
"Got it," I responded with a chuckle.
"See you later, Mr. Aizawa!" Mako said as he and I started walking down the hallway again.
As we were walking away I could hear him muttering.
"Now where is my sleeping bag?" he asked himself. "I need to make... an impression."
Mako and I looked at each other, both having heard what he said and stifled our laughs with our hands as we walked away. As soon as we turned the corner, we started laughing openly, the sound carrying through the halls.
"So," Mako started, calming down from laughing. "We're in Class 1-A."
"Right," I responded. "So we should be just around this corner."
Sure enough, as soon as we turned the corner, our classroom was right there. The door was massive and we could hear yelling come from the other side of the door. Mako and I stood in front of the door, neither of us ready to go in yet.
"I don't know if I'm ready for this," I told Mako, voicing my concerns. "I mean, if I'm anything like my birth parents then I-"
"Stop worrying," Mako interrupted. "You are nothing like your birth parents and you're gonna do great. You won't even have to make friends with anyone if you don't want to."
"Good," I responded. "Because I don't want to make friends. I'm here to become a hero."
"I know," Mako said. "That's why we're all here."
I looked over to him and offered a small smile. He returned a grin of his own and held out his fist to me. I chuckled and gave him a fist bump before dropping the smile from my face and sliding the door to our classroom open.
It was just as chaotic and loud as before and nobody even bothered to turn and look at us besides a few of the boys that had been shouting to each other in a friendly conversation. I scanned the classroom and found my seat right next to Shoto Todoroki, a boy I had met at the recommendations exam. Mako's seat was right in front of mine, which was poor planning on our teacher's part. I was about to walk to my seat when I was stopped by a short boy with purple hair.
"Hey, hot stuff!" He said, drool practically falling out of his mouth as he tried to look up my skirt. "Why don't you come sit by me?"
"Oh come on, Mineta!" a loud blond with a lightning bolt in his hair whined as he came over to us. "Why do you get to talk to all the hotties first?"
I shared a glance with Mako before ignoring both of them and trying to walk to my seat by the window. Both of the boys stepped in front of me in an attempt to stop me.
"Hey, I'm Denki Kaminari," the blond said, a flirty smile on his face. "But you can call me anytime."
"I'm Minoru Mineta," the purple-haired pervert said.
"And I don't care," I responded flatly. "Now, move out of my way before I make you."
I glared at them and they quickly scrambled out of the way. As I made my way to my desk, I heard Mineta grumbling.
"It's not like she's even all that pretty with those scars anyway," he mumbled.
I stopped in my tracks and took a deep breath to try and keep from lashing out at him. The room went so silent that you could hear a pin drop. I heard Mako smack Mineta over the head before coming up behind me and I heard Kaminari rebuking him as well. Good to know Kaminari has some respect for women. I thought to myself.
"You good?" Mako asked softly as he put a hand on my shoulder.
I nodded silently as I began to cross the room yet again. I made it to my desk and set my stuff down next to my chair. I knew there were eyes on me, but I honestly didn't care that much. Soon enough everything went back to how it was before Mako and I entered. There was an ash blond boy at the front of the classroom who had his feet on his desk and a tall blue-haired boy with glasses rebuking him and telling him to have some respect for the school he was attending. I heard the shouting conversation again and the giggling of some girls on one side of the classroom.
"He's wrong," Mako said, turned around at his desk so that he could talk to me. I looked up at him with confusion on my face. "What Mineta said. He's wrong. Your scars don't make you look ugly at all. I think they look cool."
"Thanks, Mako," I said with a small smile.
I pulled out my phone and started playing some games on it as an attempt to pass the time and ignore the stares that lingered. Especially the stare of Shoto Todoroki. I remembered seeing him at the recommendation exam and I remembered his quirk was extremely powerful. He had managed to place second while I placed 3rd and Mako placed 5th. I wasn't sure why he was staring so intently at me, but it was slightly unnerving. I kept my face blank as I waited for class time to start. If there was one thing I was thankful to my bully for, it was my learned ability to both control and conceal my emotions. In fact, Makoto and Dad are the only people I let my guard down around. With everyone else, I act like I don't care about anything, and it's always fun to see who I can piss off by acting that way.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when the door to the classroom opened and a boy with curly green hair and freckles stood in the doorway. As soon as he entered, the rude blond and the uptight blue-haired boy started going at it again.
"Take your feet off of that desk now!" the blue-haired boy said forcefully.
I groaned quietly and buried my head in my arms as I rested them on the desk. I blocked out the conversation that happened as much as I could, but I heard bits and pieces of it. Things like the blue-haired boy was named Tenya Iida, like the pro-hero Ingenium, and how the angry blond really doesn't like the green-haired boy, Izuku Midoriya. The rest I was able to tune out, but I glanced up a few times to see Mako looking over his shoulder at me to make sure I was okay. He tapped his desk with his finger three times and I tapped his chair leg twice in response. This would seem to be meaningless to anyone except Makoto and me.
When we were younger, Makoto didn't like talking about his feelings and I didn't like talking at all. So we devised a system to ask how the other person was without words. If we were holding hands or hugging, we would squeeze three times to ask how the other person was. The person being asked would squeeze back twice if they were fine and once if they weren't okay. This translated to things like now where we would tap on objects to ask if the other person was okay and we just never stopped. So when he tapped his desk three times, he was indiscreetly making sure I was okay and me tapping his chair twice let him know I was fine.
I saw Mako's shoulders relax and I relaxed back into my arms as he tapped my foot one more time with his as a way to make sure I knew he was there when I needed him. I hooked my foot around his as a source of comfort and he did nothing to move it. I think he needed a little comfort too. That was something about Mako that I learned very quickly. He is all about helping others with their emotions and problems but tends to minimize and neglect his own, which was something I tried to not let him do around me.
"If you're just here to make friends you can pack up your stuff now."
Mine and Mako's heads snapped towards the door where we heard my dad right outside the classroom door. Our eyes were wide as we met the other's gaze.
"Welcome to UA's Hero Course," he said in the same monotone voice he used with almost everyone.
"What the hell?" I mouthed to Mako.
He shook his head in response saying he had no clue. The class quieted down as Dad talked some more and unzipped his sleeping bag.
"It took eight seconds before you all shut up," he said, gathering his sleeping bag in his arms and walking into the room. "That's not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that."
There was a moment of silence as Dad stood in the doorway of the classroom before he spoke again. The atmosphere was tense as everyone tried to figure out why a tired man with a yellow sleeping bag was in our classroom. They were idiots. Clearly, he was our teacher, which meant so much more antagonizing towards Makoto and me. I sighed heavily and noticed Makoto do the same.
"Hello, I'm Shota Aizawa," he said. "Your teacher." Everyone was shocked for a second, but Dad didn't waste any time in pulling out a PE uniform from his sleeping bag. "Right, let's get to it. Put these on and head outside."
Everyone was confused about what we were doing. Well, everyone besides Makoto and I. We knew what his style of teaching was and we knew he wouldn't go easy on us. If anything, he'd be pushing us harder than anyone else in the class. Realizing he was serious, everyone quickly grabbed a PE uniform and headed to the locker rooms to get changed. I got changed in the corner of the girls' locker room in a successful attempt to remain unseen. I was the first one done, so I walked out of the locker room while adjusting the bracers on my arms and saw Makoto, who walked out around the same time while finishing securing the bracer on his left arm. It was a piece that his mother used when she was a pro. He had one and his sister had the other.
"Did you know?" he asked about Dad being our teacher.
"No," I responded quietly. "You know I would have told you."
We kept the topic of our conversation secret because Dad, Makoto, and I had concluded that it might be a good idea to keep my identity and the fact that I'm our homeroom teacher's daughter a secret. It wouldn't be a secret for long, but it would be helpful while it lasted. That way nobody would think he was helping me in some way.
Makoto and I made our way outside. We were the first ones to be done changing. We met my dad out on the field and shot him half-hearted glares. He just gave us a teasing smile in return but it quickly fell from his face. We looked behind us and saw more students arriving, all now wearing their PE uniforms. I sighed and pulled all of my hair back into a ponytail and pinned my bangs back with some bobby pins I had put in my pocket. I knew what was coming and having my hair in my way wouldn't help me at all.
"Alright," Dad started. "Now that you're all here, I think it's time you know what you'll be doing. Today you'll be performing a quirk assessment test."
"WHAT?!" the rest of the students asked in unison. "A quirk assessment test?"
I could see the annoyance growing on my dad's mostly expressionless face as they all repeated exactly what he had said. He turned around, probably to hide this annoyance as a brown-haired girl, whose name I had heard was Ochako Uraraka, started talking.
"But orientation!" she whined. "We'll miss it!"
"If you really want to make the big leagues you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies," Dad said firmly with his back still turned to us. The students gasped before Dad continued. "Here at UA, we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit." Dad looked at everyone over his shoulder." Everyone started murmuring, worried about what would happen. Makoto and I shared a glance before turning back to Dad, determined to do well. He turned around to us fully while talking. "You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives." He pulled out a phone and showed it to us. "But you never got to use your quirks in physical exams before. The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel." He glanced at Mako and me for a few seconds before continuing. "It's not rational. One day the Ministry of Education will learn." He stood up straight and turned to the angry blond. "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam. What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in junior high?"
"67 meters, I think," the angry blond, Bakugo, responded.
"Right," my dad said. "Try doing it with your quirk."
Everyone moved to a different part of the field and Bakugo stood in the center of a circle that was painted on the ground. Dad stood between him and the rest of us. We eagerly waited to see what Bakugo would get on his throw.
"Anything goes," Dad said blandly. "Just stay in the circle." There was a moment of pause where nobody moved. "Go on," Dad urged. "You're wasting our time."
"Alright, man," Bakugo said while stretching his throwing arm. "You asked for it."
He geared up for his throw with a big wind up and when he released it I could have sworn I heard him yell "Die!" But I could be wrong I suppose. A huge explosion left his hand as the ball soared through the air, followed by a trail of orange. Explosions. I thought. That's his quirk. Amazing! It's no wonder he got the highest score on the exam. He has so much power and brute force!
"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities," Dad said, holding the device that would measure distance in his hand. The ball landed in the distance and Dad turned back around to us. "It's the most rational way of figuring out potential as a pro hero."
He showed us the screen and in big, blue numbers we saw that Bakugo threw the ball 705.2 meters. I looked at Makoto and raised my eyebrows slightly, impressed at his throw. Makoto mirrored my expression and nodded. We had our work cut out for us.
"Whoa!" Kaminari said. "705 meters! Are you kidding me?"
"I wanna go!" the pink-skinned girl with horns said excitedly. "That looks like fun!"
I chuckled at her choice of words and I saw Makoto let a small smile through. The rest of the students kept talking about how much fun these tests would be. Idiots. I thought. He's gonna push us to our limits. This isn't supposed to be fun and it won't be.
"So this looks fun, huh?" Dad asked calmly. Everyone paused at his words. "You have three years here to become a hero. You think it's all gonna be games and playtime?" A smirk that can only be described as devious made its way onto Dad's face. "Idiots," he said. "Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last had none and will be expelled immediately."
Everyone immediately made noises of protest. Makoto and I shared a look and I nodded. Dad was serious. Even if it was one of us that came in last, we'd be expelled. He wouldn't play favorites. Dad interrupted everyone's internal monologues about how they would need to do their best with more talking.
"Like I said," he started. "I get to decide how this class runs. Understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now."
"You can't send one of us home!" Uraraka said, stepping forward to challenge Dad. "I mean, we just got here. Even if it wasn't the first day. That isn't fair!"
I scoffed and felt some eyes turn to me. Immediately Dad started talking again, though.
"Oh, and you think natural disasters are?" he asked. "Or power-hungry villains? Hm? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No. The world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try and combat that unfairness." An air of understanding seemed to wash over the students as Dad continued to talk. "If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So go beyond. Plus ultra style." He smiled again, this time a little more reassuring. "Show me it's no mistake that you're here."
After he finished talking, I could hear everyone chattering to themselves about how they needed to do well. I tried to calm my nerves that were rapidly growing. If there's one thing I've never liked, it's being singled out and made the center of attention. The fact that we would be doing most of these tests one at a time in front of our classmates was enough to get my heart racing. Sensing my nerves, Makoto grabbed my hand tightly. Much tighter than he would have if he was simply doing it for my benefit. I squeezed his hand three times to ask if he was okay. He squeezed twice at first, but a few seconds later squeezed again. He wasn't sure. He was nervous, we all were. These tests could make or break us.
"Now then," Dad started. "We're just wasting time by talking. Let the games begin."

*******************************************
3rd Person P.O.V
The blue-eyed blonde singer stood right off stage. Her show would start in a few minutes. She was incredibly nervous, like always. She's done this for years but the anxiety is always there. But as clique as it sounds, every time she steps on stage that feeling fades away. She shook herself and prepared to walk on. Then before she knew it, it was her que to walk on.
The big screen on the back "wall" was flashing in black and white, then red "Phoenix". It glitching as it did so to the beat of the song.
That song was ...Ready For It? by Taylor Swift. Phoenix only had about 10 songs of her own out so she did a lot of covers.
"Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him..." Phoenix began to sing trying not to smile to create an effect.
As she sang she danced around the "T" shaped stage to the song. It seemed be choreographed but really she just made them up as she went. She was a true performer.
She wore a black body suite much like Taylor Swift wore during her preformce of the song. But it had more of shorts at the bottom. And it had a few red sparkles. Her hair was slightly curled and she wore crimson red lipstick. Her reddish boots went up to her knees.
When the song came to an end the next song, I Did Something Bad, started to play.
Phoenix loved to preform this song more then even her own songs. She had managed to learn Taylor Swift's original choreography to the song from watching the AMAs preformce over and over again. It was a dramatic performance and Phoenix loved it for that exact reason.
When she finished she was at the very end if the "T" stage in the middle. She laughed and smiled like an idiot looking over the crowd. And starring back at her where around what seemed a thousand people.
"Oh my God! I can't- I can't believe this is my life! Y'all have no idea how much I've dreamed and wished for the chance to do this. I love each and every one of y'all for being here. Whether you wanted to, weather you were bored and went to the nearest concert just because, or you were dragged here by someone else. Just thank you and I hope you guys like the show so far! You seem to be, but are you?" the crowd screamed, "Okay I'm gonna take that as a yes. Anyways she next song's called 'Don't Blame Me' and oh I'm Phoenix!" Phoenix said into the mic.
****
When the song finished she was back in the place she started. A trap "door" under her lowered her to under the stage. There she had to quickly change into the next costume while the ending music of "Don't Blame Me" played to the crowd.
While this happened a red piano was rolled out onto the stage. Phoenix walked out wearing a red sequined top with a red skirt that went to her knees.
Tumblr media
She sat down on the little bench and started to play a few keys, "So this I wrote a while back when I was in middle school. I had this friend who I'd geek out with. Eventually I realized I liked him. After awhile I couldn't take it anymore and told him in a note that I practically threw at him out of nerves," she laughed at this, "Then after about a week he gave me a small piece of paper that read 'sorry I just want to be friends'. I was devastated of course, but I just hoped nothing would change. Oh how I was wrong. He never spoke to me again. Here's a song I wrote about a year later."
She proceeded to sing a song called "Let Things Go". It was written so long ago, and she was definitely, definitely, over the kid. But she every time she sang it she felt as if it was a new scar. 'Guess scars don't really ever go away?' She thought one day.
As soon as it finished she started to play another Taylor song, The Moment I Knew.
It of course started on the piano, but when it came to the chorus she stood up. And after the chorus she walked around the stage almost acting out the lyrics.
During the bridge Phoenix looked out into the crowd almost crying as the lyrics said it too.
As it finished ahead gave a soft smile. Just two years ago in her 20th birthday this song became so real for her. She wasn't quite over this scar yet.
She walked back to the piano and when she walked out from behind it she was no longer wearing the skirt, but now a pair of black shorts.
Tumblr media
She then jumped up onto the piano and sat on it, her legs dangling off. The music of We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together started to play.
She began singing while still sitting until the "What?" part and acted out the song the rest of the song. Phoenix always had the most fun singing this song, it never got old. And by the end she was sat back on the piano.
"Liked that little costume changed?" Phoenix laughed as the crowd cheered.
She hoped off the piano, "So I was wondering if it was okay for me to do a little something different now? I won't be able to run around though, so there's a negative. But I really think you're gonna lie the positive! Just give me a second, I'll be right back."
Tumblr media
She scampered off stage and when she walked back on she held a red guitar in her hands. She walked up to the microphone stand in the middle of the stage right before it extended out.
"So uhh, surprise!" Phoenix said into the mic smiling.
"So how about I play my guitar here for a few songs? I'll take that as a yes. So this first one is an old one. It's from an old Disney show called Hannah Montana. It was definitely my favorite TV show and this was one if my favorite songs. Never thought that eventually I'd laugh at a few lyrics because of someone. No I'm not saying who, though most of y'all probably already know. Anyways hears a song called 'He Could Be The One'!"
"Smooth talkin', so rockin'
He's got everything that a girl's wantin'
Guitar cutie, he plays it groovy
And I can't keep myself from doin' somethin' stupid..." she sang smiling at a few certain lyrics.
The girl completely jammed out to the song like there was no tomorrow. Running around in that one area when she wasn't singing. Yep definitely a performer.
"Well that was fun!" Phoenix laughed.
"Well I think it's time for one where I know y'all will have fun aswell." She said as she started to play "She's Kinda Hot" by 5 Seconds of Summer.
"Surprise!" She said right before singing.
But there was one thing that the girl had yet to find out. It was that, that very band stood only a few yards ahead of her.
The boys were just all hanging out in L.A. with nothing to do. Ashton suggest that they should just go to the nearest concert because why not? So they did. Now they stood towards the back kinda freaking out because someone was singing there song.
Then at the end of the song the music faded into "Babylon", another favorite of the blue-eyed singer.
The girl had so much fun playing this song and the audience loved it. Even the people who didn't know the original singers they still acted as if they did.
****
Phoenix changed into ripped back pants and a while shirt to sing the next few songs, all if which being her's.
Falling For You- a song revealed to be about fictional/celebrity crushes
Me- a song about her excepting who she really is
My Story- a song about her childhood and teenage years
We Don't Care About Anyone Else- a song she wrote about her friends and her, and the fact that they know they're weird but totally okay with that
After adding a leather jacket to the mix she also sang a song by Bea Miller called "We're Taking Over".
****
Tumblr media
The last part of the concert was all the songs Phoenix felt was the funniest to sing/dance to.
Blank Space- making sure to point her tattoo of "Darling I'm A Nightmare, Dressed Like A Daydream" during that part.
New Romantics
This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
Then it came to almost a close:
"Well I'm sorry to say but this is the last song of the night. Thanks to all of you, you've made this a night to remember. And I hope that I was able to make you as happy as you've made me! This last song was my first single I put out. I've always been so proud of it and promised to sing it every show. It's about how my life was back in school, to what I'd hope my life would be, and now it really is. Oh and enjoy the original music video playing on the screen!" Phoenix smiled.
Phoenix danced around and sang like her life depended on it. She never wanted it to end. But unfortunately it did. When she finished she said "Thank you" once more and then ran around the perimeter of the stage to touch as may people's hands as she could. She did a bow and then waved with the biggest smile and went off stage.
~~~~
As the show came to a close the 5SOS boys decided to see if they could surprise the girl they just watch perform. But they had to figure out how to get back stage.
"We don't need another last time something like this happened." One said referring to a certain person.
"Hey!" was Ashton's response.
Today was weird. I didnt sleep great and when James's alarm went off I was like dizzy I was so tired. James left me in in bed and went to get ready. I fell back asleep. And he went to work.
I slept until like 930. I didnt feel a lot better but I knew I had to get up and go to my meeting with Brian. I was not looking forward to it though. I don't like confrontation and I didn't really know how this was going to go.
I left here around 10:15 and like downtown. James was at Taney so that he could be there before and after the meeting just in case. So that was really nice of him. He left his sunglasses somewhere and his charger here at my place so I brought him those things and then went over to talk to Brian.
It was a productive meeting. Basically I got in there and he told me that when he got the email he was really bummed out for the rest of the day. And I feel bad that I bumped him out but I also really needed to say all of those things. All of it this how I was feeling and I didn't want to let it stew like so many other people seem to do when they have a problem here. I still really like my job and I really like the people I work with but I can't let something like this just fester and feel like no one ever heard me. A lot of things were cleared up. It turns out it wasn't just photographs of me the stack was pretty big. And the board member that apparently took the pictures actually belongs to ships company. The people that are reenactors that come once a month. And when he brought it up Chris and a whole bunch of other people on the board shut them down immediately. They said that it was inappropriate and that that wasn't the way to go about dealing with uniform issues. I did feel like that could have been said to me earlier when everything went down last week. But I'm glad to know that management at least seems to be standing out for us. Apparently Chris also want to Brian after I confronted him on Saturday and was very upset that I was upset. Brian says that pretty much everyone in management and above knows about me and how hard I work. And that felt nice that I am being acknowledged inside the company even if I don't know about it. It's just the way that the museum is structured makes it hard for people above us to really get to know everyone on Frontline staff. I think it's something that should be addressed and Get to know us and work with us but I understand that there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we don't know about. But like I told Brian and I wrote in my chapter for the book that I'm working on I think that the Frontline staff should be given some more information about what's going on behind the scenes. It only makes our job better when we know what's going on.
We ended up talking for an hour. And it was decided that I'm going to just move to the weekends. I'll do overnights and Fridays. Brian very much made it clear that he doesn't want to lose me. That he wishes more people had my attitude. And he was upset that I was upset but he wanted to try to make it better. He also really took it to heart my comments about working hard on the tasks but not being able to be fully qualified because we just aren't running the programs. I'm so I am now officially a museum educator and my pay has been bumped up to go with that. He also told me that as a company they are looking into the pay and general because we're not competitive to other museums anymore. And all of that is definitely going to help. We'll just have to see what happens but I do feel like I was listened to and that helps. I really would like to help make the museums culture better. And I think just my positivity will help that. And I think it has already especially with the new people coming in. We just have to see what happens now. I'm still hoping to get that other job but knowing that even if I just want a couple hours in the morning that is something that they can do. I didn't exactly know that they would be accommodating. So it's cool to know that They are willing to work with me.
I was going to be a couple minutes late to my shift but it was fine. I biked over to Constellation after I said goodbye to James. Sean had called me and texted me a whole bunch of times worrying about where I was. But it was fine. I was at the desk to start and I finished editing my chapter for the book. I'm pretty much completely done. It's about five pages single-spaced. And the woman whose compiling the whole thing seems to really like it. She's just going to change some of the formatting but we both agree that like where it went is really good. So I'm excited about that. And I got a copy of the book and I'm going to pay it so that's always nice.
Eventually Stephanie came down and took the desk for me. I went upstairs. It was such a beautiful day up on Deck. There's wind and it wasn't a lot of customers but the few people I did talk to it which is so nice. These three brothers, old old men, had all these questions and I think they were just asking each other but then I started answering them and they like lit up. They came over and they were asking all the stuff. And they were like we're so glad that you're not just a ticket taker. It was a very funny. So when I was outside they talk to me a little bit more and they were just really really nice.
Brian came back over to Constellation because he ask during our meeting if I wanted to finish up the other tests ASAP. And the one that's been the problem has really been commence firing. The one where we actually fire the cannon. And that's really been a problem because the last two weeks every day I've been there it's rain. And you can't practice in the rain. But it wasn't raining so he came over and I learned how to pack a charge. Put the gunpowder in the tinfoil and hit with a hammer. And then he had me pull up firing pin for the first time. I actually almost fell over doing it because I pulled a little too hard and hit myself in the arm with the little metal hook that holds the primer into place. But I did it in one pull. And it was loud! I was surprised. I guess I never really considered that the actual primer is loud as well and not just the gunpowder part. The Mercury and gunpowder that's coming out of the copper tube is also causing an explosion it's just tiny. But I did it and now I get to keep practicing and I'm going to get to fire the cannon. That's crazy.
Around 3 one of the ships that are coming for Fleet Week finally crested into the harbor. I think it's called the godspeed. It's a recreation of the Jamestown ship that brought over the first people to Jamestown. And it was so tiny. But they sailed here from Jamestown and that's really cool. It was really neat seeing it, and that's the first time I've seen one of the ships actually come in the harbor and not just already be there when I get there. But then it was time for me to leave. I went and got changed and across the street. I had a pretzel and a soda and I went home.
I stopped at the grocery store for milk and eggs. And then I came back here. I was pretty tired but I had wanted to clean and stuff. I didn't know if I could make that happen. I have a snack and then I went and got in bed and I slept until almost 7. I was pretty Delirious what I got up. I had to clean I had to make art. So I did vacuum at least the bathroom and the kitchen. I need to do the rest of the apartment or so much cat hair in here. But at least I did that. I went and worked in my studio for a while. I'm really really pleased with myself for these little details I'm doing in the diorama this week. Plant ones are always really hard for me so I hope this one looks good and all the work that I put into these little shelves it's not for nothing.
And now I'm just hanging out my living room. I think I'm going to go take a shower and watch maybe a movie. I'm hoping to wake up a little bit early tomorrow. Try to get some stuff done before work. But we'll see I'm not that concerned about it. Tomorrow's the first day of Fleet Week. I hope it's fun. We do have a couple ships that pulled out so we'll see what happens. I think it'll still be pretty good.
Good night everyone. Sleep well
