Happy Solstice, Shana! more Lady Mo or something else genderbendy?
Tony's spent her whole life proving she was good enough to make it in a man's world. Her own father had written her off as a debutante, but he'd let her spend time in his workshop and look over the papers spread over his desk, on his lap or a safe distance away from all the sparks. He probably thought she liked the pictures and the lights.
She builds an engine when she's six years old, her dress torn and stained with grease and and burning with pride as she grins up at her father.
It's the first time Howard ever sees her and, she thinks, when he stops loving her.
Existing in a man's world is different than being a man. She's not allowed to forget, to indulge, she can't ever be anything else any other way than a performance.
Her whole life is a performance, so maybe there's no real difference.
She can wear broad silhouettes and make sure no one calls her Antonia and keep her hair in it's iconic pixie cut have her employees call her sir - ma'am was her mother, she says with a laugh, and god knows she took more after daddy dearest - and she spends so much of her time having dick measuring contests with generals and business rivals and every man that thinks he can put his hands on her that sometimes it's a shock to remember she doesn't have one of her own.
It's not that she doesn't like being a girl, that she doesn't get a thrill out of outrageous dresses and all her soft curves, that she doesn't like at least seeing something of her mother in her mouth and her nose.
It's just that she thinks that she could be something more. That she is something more.
But that sort of things belong to someone who doesn't have her life, her job and her responsibilities and the eyes of the world watching her every move.
~
She doesn't even think about the fact that the armor is a man, narrow hips and broad shoulders and nothing feminine about his cold curves of metal, until Pepper sees it.
Pepper is quiet after, pressing ice to her bruises as she sits by Tony's hips. Her eyes stray to the arc reactor, a diamond of light glowing between her breasts. A circle would have been a more solid matrix but would have required her to get a mastectomy to make it fit.
She's thought about having a smooth chest before, but in the moment when it was an option that she could reasonably provide to the public - a medical device, for her health - she'd balked, and lost a day to redesign to make it something less, something that would fit and not require her to change to too much.
It had felt like a metaphor, or a sermon, as she'd beat sheets of metal until she bled.
Pepper asks, "Is it to protect your identity? So they don't think it's you?"
Tony stares, caught off guard, her mouth open in answer that she hesitates to give because she knows it's a lie. She doesn't like lying to Pepper.
She softens. "Or is it the opposite?"
Tony is sore and exhausted and Obie is acting strangely and Rhodey isn't talking to her (he calls her and he'll call again and again until she picks up, but he won't say a word, will just listen to her breathe to make sure she still is and then hang up like a fucking a coward) and she just killed sort of a lot of people and her weapons are where they shouldn't be and every defense she's built up around this question feels like it's crumbling around her.
"Pepper," she says, then can't bring herself to say anything else.
She doesn't want to lie to her.
"I like the paint job," Pepper says, hand soft where it's gripping her shoulder. Tony hasn't had soft hands since her father loved her.
"I like red," Tony says and Pepper's cheeks turn the same color as her hair.

bucky is anti-peggy: their relationships with steve and why bucky will always overshadow peggy as love interest
hardly anything novel but I have to get it out of my system. interpretations are strictly in-universe just to be fair. also seb headcanons are canon, I won't hear otherwise!
the difference between stucky and steggy can be summed up by their respective reactions to beefed-up Steve. someone on tumblr points out that these two scenes also serve as analogies of their relationships. steggy would always be about peggy reaching out, their relationship would be under the spotlight, be the center of attention while stucky is the reverse. I just want to add to that.
Peggy was literally dazzled, she tried to touch his naked body, she was eager to see what this body could do (sexually, among other things). that's the first time she saw steve as sexually attractive, the first time she saw steve at all if we are honest, and what she saw was this jacked-up version of him, an icon-to-be, someone whom steve never really accepted as himself. In essence, the first time she really paid attention to steve as the love interest, was the moment steve became someone else.
Bucky, who was tortured for days, if not weeks, still delirious, was confused bc that was not his steve, he probably didn't even think Steve was real at first. Bucky was experimented on, he likely knew there were similar human experiments aimed to enhance, he knew science like that was possible, but whose science? so that's the first question, 'what happened?' Steve joined the army, okay, so this was not forced onto him, probably. then the next thing he asked was, 'did it hurt?' he didn't care how strong it made Steve, he only wanted assurance that Steve was fine. like, what if the process hurt? what could bucky possibly do? nothing. it's not about whether it hurt, it was just bucky simply giving a shit about steve's wellbeing. we don't even need to get into the 'little kid from brooklyn' line.
peggy witnessed a magical transformation and was amazed by the eventual product but bucky saw his best friend who must've gotten through something excruciating. peggy could never fall in love with skinny steve when that's all bucky saw, until the very end (sebastian said bucky probably never got used to big steve).
another contrast would be the final plane crash. sebastian was asked whether Bucky would've gotten on that plane with Steve or stayed behind like Peggy. seb's answer is that Bucky would've tried to get on that plane cuz he felt responsible for steve, and he'd fall again.
the thing is that, had Bucky been on that plane, Steve never would've crashed it. he would've done anything to save Bucky. he didn't have to crash that plane which was canon (pointed out by rhodey). steve could've got out but he didn't. Bucky being there would've given him the motivation to do so. any other person would tbh, but only Bucky would be willing to be on that plane bc Peggy canonly wasn't. in addition to bucky's willingness to follow steve literally into the jaws of death, in this hypothetical scenario, Bucky would be the reason for Steve to live in catfa.
that leads to yet another contrast.
'just go! get out of here!' 'no, not without you!'
steve, who had no idea what he was capable of, jumped through fire for bucky.
'don't do this, there's still time, let me find a way...' 'a lot of people are gonna die if I don't do this, peggy. this's my choice.'
despite peggy's pleading, steve crashed the plane.
the word choice appeared several times in catfa. the first time was when peggy told philip that it was steve's choice (to die trying to save bucky). the second time was when peggy told steve that bucky made a choice (to die fighting with him). and the third time was when steve told peggy it was his choice (to sacrifice himself). it's no coincidence that each and every time the choice was each other, steve echoing the word at the end made it clear that he was doing this for bucky.
a relationship goes both ways. steve and bucky are canonly willing to, and did, die and live for each other. peggy simply doesn't have that level of impact on steve. in fact, steve literally repeatedly chose bucky over her in catfa.
put it simply, bucky and steve care more about each other than themselves, peggy didn't even care about skinny steve in that sense. she also literally couldn't because she only met skinny steve twice. briefly.
plus as I said previously bucky is the only one standing in between a traditional cishet hypermasculine image of steve and the real steve, peggy is the one element that fulfils the false image.
everything bucky is, peggy is the opposite. the differences quite literally result in different interpretations of steve. and who can say honestly that endgame steve is better than cap trilogy steve?

I don’t think enough of us are talking about the parallels between the MCU introductions of both Riri Williams and Tony Stark
The parallels in so many of her scenes to the first Iron Man movie were phenomenal, and did such a great job of setting the stage for her to really fill this vacancy caused by Tony’s death.
Like there’s the obvious scene we saw in the trailer, where Riri hammers the metal for her suit and it looks nearly identical to the scene in Iron Man where Tony is hammering in the cave.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there are so many more instances of this!! Like there’s the scene where she goes up really high to go after the drone, and she starts falling and nearly crashes before regaining power at the last minute. Its a direct parallel to when Tony first takes his newer suit out and he takes it too high and almost crashes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I couldn’t find a gif of the actual falling scene from Iron Man but this is close enough)
There is even a subtle allusion to it, when she lowers her first suit from the ceiling, and it is reminiscent of the iconic scene where Tony’s chestplate is lowered onto him. There is the part where its dark in the warehouse and then she lights up and flies off- how many times did we see Tony blast someone and then take off through an opening in the roof? We even get the iconic angle showing the suit getting an extra power boost while flying!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the imagery of this scene, showing Riri building her suit while surrounded by round pieces of metal is a reference to Iron Man, and his iconic arc reactor.
Tumblr media
I just love that they used every possible opportunity in this movie to make it clear that the person stepping into the infamous Tony Stark’s shoes was a brilliant young Black woman, who not only has a comparable level of intellect, but is also snarky and sarcastic and full of clever quips even in the middle of a fight.
I just know that when Rhodey sees her in action for the first time and hears her mid-fight one-liners, he’s gonna think she’s Tony reincarnated.

CAP-IM Rec Week: Absolute Faves Monday
a quick & dirty reclist of all some of my absolute best beloved stevetony fic faves <3
You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) by @kiyaar
“Why don’t you take that off,” Tony whispers back, and he tugs at the guy’s mask. He tries an arm around his waist, firm, solid, hot. Tony is hard and it’s obvious. He thinks he’d be more of a gentleman about it under normal circumstances, but in this place, it’s like a handshake. He shudders and his back muscles move beneath Tony’s hand. Tony’s pants grow tighter. He smells like Barbasol. A well-respected man. Tony wants to disrespect him. (an AU where Steve never gave up the Nomad mantle, Tony has a coke habit, and they meet on the dance floor at Studio 54.)
Podfic available from @whenasinsilks!
Please everyone go read this fic immediately and then report back so we can all go disco dancing together while screaming abt the SteveTony identity porn mutual pining drug-fueled blowjob of all time <3
Sins of Omission by @kiyaar
A Post-Civil War, Pre-Secret Invasion AU where Steve is dead, Tony's a mess, and everything sucks. In which Tony deals poorly with Steve's death, falls off the wagon, sees ghosts, and misses a lot. Oh, and the Skrulls are about to invade.
Literally a classic, this fic is the SteveTony Odyssey.
Under God by @isozyme
“Captain America represents the values of our country. The recent allegations about his sexuality are specious and designed to smear an American icon. Captain Rogers regularly attends the Church of Saint Agnes and invites the citizens of New York to attend worship with him this Sunday, April 14th. God bless America.” Nobody was ever going to know. Steve would be a good husband, a good father, and he’d never give in to sin and touch another man. But Steve makes two mistakes, one after the other: he leaves two words out of the Pledge of Allegiance, and he doesn’t notice a camera flash among the strobe lights of a dark club, because he’s dancing with his clumsy hands on Tony’s hips.
Podfic available from Cathalinaheart!
No words, only ugly beautiful emotions about being gay in the Zeroes, internalized homophobia, falling in love, and perhaps even preempting the Iraq War.
the face and the mask are mirrors, baby (the genderqueer remix) by @imaginaryelle
When Tony’s young, he thinks maybe he’s built wrong. He thinks: Maybe one day, if he gets good enough, he’ll be able to redesign Tony Stark. Cast himself in a new mold. One day, he’ll be better.
I actually think this fic was created in a secret lab specifically for me to read and be irrevocably changed and made better by it; sharing so that you all can also partake in the revolutionary experience of reading this fic and being better for it too :)
Semaphore by DevilDoll
"I’m trying to like you, Tony. You’re just making it very hard."
Podfic available from crinklysolution!
To me, this is always The 2012 Avengers-era SteveTony fic. In my eyes, it eclipses and predominates the whole of its fandom. It was I think, maybe the first MCU SteveTony fic I read back when I first got into this fandom over 10 years ago and it's stuck with me ever since, and if that isn't enough of a recommendation then I simply do not know what is!
Amor Fati by citsiurtlanu
Tony Stark has always known what the words on his wrist are supposed to lead to. What he's never known is who the words are for. 616 soulmate AU.
Honestly and truly and genuinely don't have the words to articulate how heartwrenchingly gorgeous this fic is. It has pulled real life tears from me and imprinted itself into my memory. For all the ups and downs of 616 canon, we can thank every moment of it for having existed because citsuirtlanu was able to distill it down into this incredible, incredible story. <3
Five Days a Week by @festiveferret
The day after Pepper's funeral - after Rhodey has come and gone, after Natasha has come and gone, after Tony has forcibly sent Happy away - Tony looks out of the front window, Morgan snoozing in the crook of one arm, and sees a dark, heavily-tinted car in the driveway.
The perfect, the perfect Endgame fix-it. There's a certain kind of magic in this story that I don't think I've found in any other stevetony fic to date. This fic is heartbreak and grief and guilt and friendship and romance all rolled into one indescribably lovely story.

kay the answer is obviously the og iron man because unlike im2, the original does not feature elon musk 😂
ok this is EXTREMELY fair,,,, BUT but im2 has the SUITCASE SUIT and the ILLNESS ANGST and rhodey getting a suit and "i want my bird" and the iconic rhodey&tony fight and NAT and tony rediscovering an element in his basement and "i dont know if you know this, but i dont SPEAK. RUSSIAN" and "sir i'm gonna have to ask you to exit the donut" and

Maria has obviously noticed the way Tony looks at you and she'd make sure to let you know by telling you "Tony looks at you the way he looks at donuts and god knows that boy loves donuts more than anything" (all while he's eating a box of donuts you brought for him)
Idk why I actually picture Rhodey saying that 😭😭😭😭😭 but like while he’s also eating one of those donuts 😭
But like Tony Stark + donuts is such an icon 😘

Hello!!! i’m so interested in the HB2 plot! I feel like we see peter angst way more commonly than Harley—so if you ever feel up for rambling about it under a cut or a spoiler tag this is a free space to do so! He really is my blorbo and you’re my favorite fic writer so I know whatever happens it’ll be amazingly done but I’m dying for hints at more of what that’ll look like! Are we talking, like, caught in the literal crossfire or devastating hostage situation 😂
okay before i do the harley rambles i!? I’m your favorite fic writer??? my guy what the FUCK that’s so sweet but also have u read any of sarah’s fics?? oddy’s parkner fic or oddy’s parksborn fic??? ANY of the Classic Iconic parkner fics circa 2020-2021?
i’m actually very VERY slowly making a parkner fic rec list to post at some point but just. WHAT. there are So many INCREDIBLE fic writers and saying i’m your favorite is BONKERS to me but also so nice i ??? thank you??? oh my god???? ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙
okay anyway sorry to what the ask was actually about pfkfj, HARLEY!!! i agree it’s definitely a lot easier to come across peter angst than harley angst, which most likely has to do with the fact that there is a LOT of material to draw from for peter’s character—various movies, comics, shows, timelines and universes and the games. it’s a lot easier to come up with angst for peter because there’s a lot of canon angst to choose from AND there’s so much content for him that it’s a lot easier to get a grasp on his character and create angst based on that, you know? but as a fandom we have definitely created many ideas of harley based on when he was a kid in im3 and his cameo in endgame, plus the WEB comics + ride at avengers campus, so harley angst is for sure out there but like you said it is NOT easy to come across lmao
as for the HB2 plot—i have an ask in my drafts from like a month or two ago asking for more information about hb2 and i’m gonna try to finally finish answering that and post it sometime today, so that post will definitely include some insight in what to expect from the sequel, but harley in hb2 specifically? i GOTCHU.
OKAY !!! let's do this!!
so homeward bound, as i've said before, is PETER'S story post no way home, right? but in hb2 it's peter AND HARLEY'S story post homeward bound. the first chapter is a recap of the first fic from harley's pov with a lot of extra bits thrown in, starting on the day that thanos first snapped and ending either where the first fic ends or maybe in the summer between school years. unsure as of now but one of those, for sure. so that's going to offer a lot of perspective about harley's character in homeward bound - his thought processes, how he was feeling in a lot of key moments during the first fic, things he was doing while peter wasn't around, etc etc etc.
but in hb2, after the recap in the first fic, it picks up at the start of their second year at ESU. he might still be roommates with harry. he might not be. it won't be the same room at the very least, so no matter what, there's going to be some changes, right? but also:
everything is different.
there are the small changes - not the same room, harder classes as they climb their way through the pre-reqs, potentially a different roommate, some stuff happened over summer, etc.
but also there are the BIG changes, like his dynamic with peter, and knowing that peter is spidey and now being a part of keeping that a secret due to peter not wanting anyone else to know. he also knows about the spell and he knows that peter is someone tony loved, someone that pepper and morgan and happy and rhodey knew and cared about, and none of them remember him, but they know harley.
with harley's pov comes the reintroduction of the rest of the world, basically. peter has no one, right? his old life was completely destroyed and erased, leaving no connections to the people he used to know, so he's been VERY closed off from everyone and everything.
harley, however, still knows pepper and morgan and happy and rhodey. he still talks to them on a regular basis. he has his mom and his sister. he isn't closed off in classes like peter is, actually having conversations with his classmates, even if he has no interest in befriending them. peter's pov has been very limited because his world has been completely changed. harley's has been changed too via the loss of tony and him being dead for five years while his mom and his sister had to adapt to a life without him there, but it's not been changed to the extent of peter's, you know?
harley is going to have a few struggles in hb2, some centered around peter, some not. there's going to be family stuff. there's going to be this urge to tell pepper and them about peter because he thinks that peter would benefit from having these people in his life again but also he wants to respect the fact that peter doesn't feel ready to do that.
there's going to be some conflict about the people in his life learning that he's involved with spider-man's business somehow. there's going to be people getting angry at spider-man because of it.
a lot of mental and emotional turmoil is going to come out of all this. but, in the physical sense, he's not going to be entirely safe, either. again, people are going to realize he's somehow connected to spidey. he's going to want to do whatever he can do to help peter, to the point where he's going to get a little reckless with it sometimes.
caught in the crossfire? yeah.
hostage situation? no. at least, not in hb2. not that i currently have planned. that could change, but as of my current plans, no.
hope that's enough information to build some intrigue >:)

Mal I can’t believe you like stony I trusted you sigh…
anon....why you not like stony? 🥺 ((are you a stucky shipper?)) jkjk...unless...?
If you actually wanna know tho...
...it's simply the most compelling, contrasting, fraught, potential-filled relationship ever written/depicted (i wish i was exaggerating).
I'm ngl, I typed this whole thing and then it got deleted. So I might not be able to fully do this a second time smh. But here we go.
Whenever i was bored/in the depths of my stony/marvel obsession, I would make a list in my head of all the reasons Steve and Tony were perfect for one another in case anyone disagreed with me. I don't think I can remember all the reasons, but I'm gonna do my best (this mostly addresses their MCU depictions, since that's what I know best):
Their personalities are so complementary- steve is the more heart-on-his-sleeve, honest, dependable, disciplined, noble, street-smart, but also a bit naive, idealist and tony is the cynical, issues-with-authority, arrogant, sarcastic, hard-outer-shell, booksmart, realist. They're sooo different from one another, but at their core, they both want to make the world a better place and they both place more importance on others' lives over their own, altho their motivations come from diff places. It's hard for them to see that at first though bc they're both so stubborn and judge one another on superficial things. But when they do recognize it, they have so much respect for one another.
The age difference.............is hot! And here's why: you can make a case that either of them is actually older than the other... (iykyk) Tony has been awake & aging longer, but Steve was born in the 40s so... who really knows!?
Height difference.
Sexual experience difference (tony -> playboy, steve -> virgin??)
The banter. The Banter!!!
They both have daddy issues. Shared trauma, but also separate traumas that they can help each other through
And along with the daddy thing is the fact that Steve knew Tony's father?? And that Howard helped create/provide Steve's iconic shield? It factors into the daddy issues and the assumptions they make about one another bc Steve expects Tony to be like Howard and Tony resents Steve for the way Howard idolized Steve/Cap.
Steve's shield is vibranium and Tony's arc reactor is powered by vibranium. Idk, that shit is just poetic.
"Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?" "Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist." "I know guys with none of that worth ten of you... The only thing you really fight for is yourself. You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play - to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you." "I think I would just cut the wire." "Always a way out. You know you may not be a threat, but you better stop pretending to be a hero." "A hero? Like you? You're a laboratory experiment, Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle."
(^NO ONE riles steve or tony up more, and what is that if not sexual tension, i mean...??)
Their nickname game is so strong - Tony is always nicknaming Cap, which is a sign of affection from him (Rhodey, Pep, Happy). Also in the 616 universe, I think they called each other Winghead and Shellhead which ?!?! so cute.
There's a literal universe of comics where steve and a female version of tony/iron man are in love and get married...
"Mr. Rogers, I almost forgot - that suit did nothing for your ass."
Stony has some of the best fan fiction i've EVER read. I want some of those fics inscribed on my tombstone actually (not sorry)
Aaaaand I'm losing steam (especially after typing this a second time lmao). But all of this to say, I used to be a stucky shipper (as evidenced by my ao3 works), but then The Avengers (2012) came out and changed everything for me. There's just something about stony - the equal potential for them to destroy one another/complete one another - that is just... 🤌🏻 There's passion there.
Superhusbands!!! 😍

Top 10 Spinoffs that really need to happen
Hi, friends. I may not be a fan of cheap sequels or prequels we don't want, I do think spinoffs are underrated especially if they focus on characters that are beloved and have interesting stories to tell. I mean, look at the success of Star Wars' many series especially its two diamonds being Clone Wars and Andor. I was inspired to make this list after seeing the trailer of Daryl Dixon.
In this list, I will my top ten medias that could it even bigger if they make these specific spinoffs.
Tumblr media
Marvel's War Machine (Film/TV Series) - Nevermind Riri. Let's focus on this guy who was not only around long before her, but since the beginning. In time where we want more black representation than ever, I think War Machine is should be the next big thing. War Machine aka James Ruper "Rhodey" Rhodes is a decorated soldier to begin and Iron Man's right hand man. Despite the similar gimmick, his personality is much more serious, professional and mannerly. He can hold out on his own and he is a hero anyone of any type can look up to.

2. Marvel's Mary Jane Watson (Mini Series) - While she started off as Gwen Stacey's replacement and would alter become Peter Parker's main woman, she has now come quite into her own. She has even gone on adventures of her own, has become more capable and even became an ally in action for Spider-Man. While the comics have gone sour, maybe TV can bring us back MJ and Spidey as not only a couple, but as equals who both have exciting stories to tell.
Tumblr media
3. Marvel's (REAL) Spider-Girl (TV Series/Film) - Speaking of TV redeeming MJ and Spidey as soul mates, last I remember, at one point, they were not only happily married, they had a daughter Mayday Parker who had the mantle passed down to her long before Miles Morales, the other Gwen Stacey (Spider-Woman) and all these other modern incarnations. She is a very underrated heroine who fell into obscurity no thanks to how Marvel broke up one of its most iconic couples. She needs to make a comeback because she is the true Spider-Girl in every way possible,

4. Disney's Goofy kid's show (TV Series) - For a while, the Disney gang made a big comeback since Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and almost everyone got their own spinoff or reboot. Everyone, but Goofy which I find is a waste because unlike all the others with the exception of Pete, he actually is a father. So far, the only independent works Goofy has gotten are Goof Troop, the two Goofy Movies and two animated shorts in some holidays specials. I think Goofy can make for a great host in a kid's show because despite his goofiness, he is a very capable and in fact, wise father. He would be a lot like Mr. Rogers or Mr. Dress Up where instead just playing with kids, he's actually teaching them and even comforting them the way a father does.
Tumblr media
5. Resident Evil's Billy Coen (Video Game) - I don't think there's an RE fan out there who hasn't wished to see what became of this beloved one off character. Between you and me, I think he's still alive and kicking zombie, and I would love see what became of him after RE0. He not only came from one of the few prequel media out there that was great, but he is a total badass with a compelling backstory. We even got to see what happened to Sherry Birkin later one. I think Billy is more than worth a chance in the spotlight.
Tumblr media
6. Silent Hill's Heather Mason (Video Game) - I know what you're thinking, but hear me out. While she got her own game (technically, two if you count the first ever SH game), I don't believe her story should have ended with SH3. The Mason family is the closest thing to a true SH main protagonist as there is I would love to her a now adult Heather Mason still fighting the Order as it is still out there wreaking havoc. She was a great heroine and an underrated video game character in general.
Tumblr media
7. Jurassic Park for grown ups (TV Series) - It's had a few spinoffs so far and the only that is a big hit is Camp Cretaceous. I think another one should be made and this time, it should be aimed for adults. In the beginning, JP showed a lot of promise when it came to making adult oriented spinoffs with the comics and the sequel The Lost World, but after that, it became more and more about the action and less about the horror factor and dinosaurs. Even the revival trilogy of Jurassic World lacked that horror element that adults appreciated in the first two movies and most importantly, the book. We need to make a spinoff that is aimed for grown ups without it feeling like it wants to be Indiana Jones.
Tumblr media
8. DC's Batgirl (TV Series) - Nevermind Batwoman, Batgirl was around first AND she was solo before joining the bat family officially. I mean, even her father Jim Gordon got his own spinoff series before she did and she's actually a super. And apparently, her film never saw the light of day because it was not up to standard. I say, we make a TV series that does live up to standard AND we make it animated like we did Harley Quinn. Barbara Gordon set the standard for a lot lady supers came after her and she iconic. EVERYONE knows who Batgirl is. Even people who don't read comics know who Batgirl is. What I don't know is why she hasn't starred in her own solo media yet beyond comics.
Tumblr media
9. DC's Catwoman (Film/TV Series) - Speaking of iconic DC heroines, it is funny how one of its most iconic anti-heroines, love interest's to Batman and just recently, bisexual supers still hasn't gotten any independent media beyond her comics. If there's one woman who doesn't need no Batman (let alone man in general) to stand on her own two feet and have a compelling story to tell, it's her. The only thing we have gotten are two films. One which is imposter media starring Halle Berry and another no one knows about. Seline Kyle deserves so much more than that. I say she gets her own proper show or at the very least, a proper film. She's worth it.
Tumblr media
10. Capcom's Dino Crisis (Video Game) - I think this franchise only got one spinoff (two if you count the third instalment that went off the rails), and it wasn't a hit. Dino Crisis was clearly inspired by the original Jurassic Park especially when it came to horror and the feeling of being genuinely threatened by the dinosaurs. This game felt like the long lost twin sister of RE. With that said, it should get a spinoff because it's worth a last hurrah and who knows? It mind revive this lost gem of a series. I say we go for it and put our best foot forward doing it. Let it be true to the lore, the setting and theme. None of the dinos in space silliness.
Anyway, that is my list. What is your opinion on it? Would you like to see these spinoffs or can you suggest another? Let me know.
Thanks for reading and as always, stay safe.

Circling back to this post that popped into my head after a spell, how would you sort the Avengers as plant-sonas?
ooh old pluck, nonny. there's so many plants to choose from, it's hard lol. but, here we go, here are some:
bruce: welwitschia. highly unusual morphology. small, isolated population. colloquially, "two leaves, can't die." distinct, different gendered plants. a fan of flies.
carol: tillandsia ionantha (air plant). full sun, no soil required, babyy. pressure tolerant and durable. stunning colors and variable lifespan. one step off normal, very much her own gal.
jan: roridula evergreen shrubs. borderline carnivorous in a mutualistic sense. big on community. has a superior ovary lol.
rhodey: sitka spruce. grows rapidly under favorable conditions; adaptable. wide root system. crafts aircrafts, instruments and sailboats in spare time. coniferous buddy.
natasha: blackthorn. many varied, practical self applications including alcohol distilling. highly transplantable. contains cyanide. astringent when fresh or frustrated.
sam: mountain ash. the tallest flowering (crowning) plantsona. gobbles up carbon. hollows out homes for smaller folks in his bones. people like to argue over his supposed or potential girth.
steve: ginkgo. so out of time that his og pollinators have all died out. alone in its genus and order. can survive a nuclear blast. iconic shape, often on postcards.
thor: honey fungus. old as balls and extremely vast. an incomprehensible lifeform and way of living. can be destructive or tasty depending on mood and handling instructions. bioluminescent (fun at parties).
tony: giant sequoia. larger than life, heavy metaphorical and literal longevity. easily recognizable. oft controversially cut down at its most prominent. needs wildfire to regrow from its own ashes. coniferous buddy.
that's all i'm gonna do bc i need to do other things but everyone feel free to suggest their own!

I didn’t watch Secret Invasion but after seeing the spoilers I feel like I’m officially done with the MCU. Anything post Phase 3.5 just does not resonate with me anymore. Literally after finishing GotG 3 I was like, “Great, now I’m finally done with catching up,” because most of the characters I love are either dead, retired, or assassinated beyond recognition. (Spoilers for SI below:)
Rhodey being a Skrull is just. No. I don’t care how “well” it could be executed, the concept of it alone is just TERRIBLE. You’re telling me that one of the last faces Tony Stark saw was a skrull’s??? You telling me Rhodey’s accomplishments as an Avenger and a character beyond Civil War were all fake??? Rhodey who has been a staple of the Iron Man series and the MCU since Phase 1???
Also Maria Hill dies just like that??? Do the writers hate iconic Phase 1 characters coz wtf. Hill and Fury haven’t always been the most fleshed out characters but they’re ICONIC as a duo. And one of them just dies??? In the first episode??? I’m just. So mad.
Honestly the whole “Fury and Hill were skrulls all along in FFH” thing already pissed me off quite a bit, because I was so happy that these classic characters got to shine a bit in a post-Infinity Saga movie, and you don’t get a lot of that!!! But nvm, it’s a fake!!! Okay!!!
Are there still characters I care about in the current MCU timeline? Yes. Do I want to see more of Thor, Loki, Stephen Strange, Peter Parker and the Guardians? Yes. I’m still holding out for Thor and Loki’s reunion and Peter getting MJ back but it’s so. Tiring. Having to see these characters’ journeys get ripped up and tossed in your face all the fucking time. And I’m not fucking getting Disney+ to watch the shows!!!
TLDR: fuck marvel lol

Isn’t Tony besties with Reed? What makes u like Reed but not Tony, they kinda similar.
i guess ultimately reed isn't a character focused on wealth in the way tony is. like the conception of tony stark is basically writers going "what if billionaires were cool", at least certainly how he was written in the 70s avengers & west coast avengers which is where i am most familiar with him. you know like tigra and jennifer (if i remember right) are both overjoyed when they get their avengers paycheck that tony is mostly funding, he's the owner of their most iconic location, the mansion, and he's solidly portrayed as a good guy in WCA after rhodey packs up. personally for me, i can't get over the billionaire thing, because it is too engrained in his character that he is supposed to be a billionaire who doesn't suck, which some readers look past but i cant.
reed however, while rich, is different in the sense that he doesn't need to be rich to be mister fantastic. like there is nothing about his power set, his costuming or his lifestyle that requires him to be wealthy. you can easily make a reed richards story where he didn't come from wealth, and so long as you have a big accident like the cosmic rays or the teleportation machine that causes his body to transform you've got mister fantastic. while certainly there are parts of his character or his history that are influenced by him being from wealth (going to so many prestigious universities so early on, being able to build his rocket on the first place), they aren't necessary to the foundation of reed richards.
this is different from tony who in order to be able to be owner of avengers mansion, in order to be dishing out all the paychecks, in order to have all the different suits of armour he has, in order to own area 51 or whatever, he needs to have wealth. and there are storylines where he doesn't have that and he exists as a character anyway and goes through character development and i appreciate that, but in the majority of his appearances and certainly in comics post civil war & the first iron man movie he is very much benevolent billionaire, which is a character archetype i don't particularly care for and don't find very interesting, and his concept and design as a character isn't one i find interesting or appealing enough to bother reading the solo series he's in.
reed, meanwhile, always has some kind of focus on his dynamic with his family. you don't need reed richards solo comics in the same way you get tony stark solo comics, so he's always interacting with his family. tony stark when he's in avengers comics always comes off to me as either a fantasy of the ideal, heroic, caring billionaire that isn't a fantasy i care to indulge in, or as just kind of an entitled prick that can often be styled as rude to characters like spiderman or antman who come from working class backgrounds. is he different and much more rounded off in his solos? probably! i don't care to read them though because he isn't a character i want to see outside of his dynamic with the team. and for reed, all you get is his dynamic with the team. like i don't need to read comics and series i don't care about to know reed as fully as i might want to, it's all just there in the main series'. idk if that makes any sense but like, he's just an easier character who develops more without having to look into other comics i don't care about.
anyway yeah, reed and tony are friends n have been established for a while, it seems they were childhood friends who knew each other through their dads who knew each other and were also fucking and having threesomes with leonado da vinci, and probably went to a lot of the same universities etc etc. they play chess together and do respect each other, although some comics from the 2000s and 2010s do sometimes portray a tension between them, with tony occasionally making an inappropriate joke or whatever and reed reacting poorly, but a) that's around the time where tony changes from benevolent billionaire to entitled prick in the avengers comics & event comics, and b) that's a new wave of writers in a post 9/11 america and therefore different outlooks on both characters than there were in the 80s. but generally yeah they're friends. i do actually like the reedtony dynamic, it's the closest i get to liking the guy. if you're interested in their dynamic or at least the version i like best, i recommend longshot saves the marvel universe #1, they're cute in it, although it gets weirdly ableist to reed at one point so watch out for that.
