A list of my favourite f1 documentaries ever, that I also made with the help of this answer by @eliotheeangelis :

1) Fangio: A Life of speed - This one got me into f1, I think it’s a perfect portrait of racers and what makes the greatest of the sport so special.

2) Race to Perfection - Why didn’t I got myself into engineering??? this documentary series it’s mind blowing and it dissects very well the technology aspect through f1 history.

3) Ferrari: Race to Immortality - footage of ferrari in the 50’s and how the scuderia became a myth, and it’s so ✨aesthetic✨

4)Lucky!: Even though it’s about Bernie Ecclestone, it’s not about him at all. It’s a great picture of how modern f1 came to be. Also it’s very humbling, if there’s drama today, no there isn’t, nothing will top the drivers’ strikes and Max Mosely, and Jean Marie Balestre.

5)Brawn GP: It’s so uplifting, and inspiring, it made me want to get out of bed and work for my career when I didn’t. Even if Keanu Reeves it’s a bit random and a great conductor overall, it’s a very well written documentary.

6)Schumacher: This one made me realise, how much of an influence media has in the public’s perception of a driver, and it’s just beautiful.

7)SENNA: I think this one explains how he’s more of a myth than a man in the sport, although I’ve never believed he’s the greatest, in this it’s possible to see why senna is senna , and it’s also, well, fucking sad.

8)The Team ‘93: Great way of seeing how the sport has changed and how mclaren is as much as a staple as ferrari, also great way of seeing Senna in his last year with the team. And young Mika!

9)One by one, the quick and the dead (1975) or Champions Forever?: it’s very nostalgic, and it makes you wonder how on earth is this sport still around after the early 70’s.

10) Williams (2017) : I mean after watching this, I thought, Mansell could’ve only won with a team that was made with so many tears and sweat. It’s true passion for racing

10.5: Rush: it’s a great way of getting to know the sport even if it isn’t a documentary! And I love it, because I remember watching it when I was 12!

I haven’t watched: weekend of a champion, 1: life on the limit or Red 5: Williams and Mansell

A worthy mention of DTS because it’s good background noise and I think that’s why haas fans exist (rip TP Guenther), but I hate when I get all excited when someone tells me they like f1, and then they tell me they don’t watch races or follow the current season and have only watched two seasons of dts. And they don’t even know who Niki Lauda is????

Very Specific Random Batfamily Headcanons

A/n: Hii!! These were completely random thoughts and headcanons I have and have compiled into one post. They are purely self-indulgent!!

Jason still sleeps with stuffed animals. More specifically, he sleeps with the beluga whale plushie Bruce got him when Bruce took him to the Gotham Aquarium for the first time. Nobody knows except for Alfred and Bruce himself.

Damian likes to give full names to his pets. Bruce got him a blue Betta fish whom Damian named "Richard James Davenport" for no reason except his own amusement. When Dick asked if he had named the Betta fish after him (which is most certainly true) Damian denied it saying that Richard is a common English name.

Tim is half-Japanese and speaks the language fluently, but people don't notice until they really pay attention to him. Every once in a while you can hear him cursing in Japanese.

On a similar note, he absolutely loves tamago kake gohan but his siblings think he is a little weird for it. (a/n: Tamago Kake Gohan is delicious. I LOVE it but it's not for everyone...)

The one person who can calm Jason down after horrible nightmares is Dick. Bruce and Alfred can to an extent but it takes a while and never fully works. One hug and an "It's ok, little bird. I'm here. No one can hurt you." from his big brother and he is almost instantly calm. They never talk about it afterwards but they really do love each other.

Damian, despite putting on a "cool and collected" facade, is incredibly possessive and clingy. If given the chance (and he gives up the facade for a little bit) he will continue to hug the person for an indefinite amount of time. Commenting on it will, however, result in an automatic detachment.

Tim has watched all Sherlock Holmes adaptations including Moriarty the Patriot. He has also roped Bernard into seeing it and now Bernie insists that they cosplay Sherliam at some point.

Barbara has dirt on everyone and is patiently waiting to use it against them.

Stephanie, despite being a slight disaster in the kitchen, learned how to make cookies with Alfred and is now the best cookie maker after the butler himself. She has used the cookies as a bribe in order to make other members of the batfam do something for her.

(this is basically canon) Dick has unaddressed and undermentioned anger issues that pop up every once in a while stunning everyone.

(in the Young Justice (the cartoon) universe) The batfamily has adopted the use of the un-words for example, "Whelmed", "Traught", "Aster" & etc.

The Batgirls (Barbara, Steph and Cass) have at least two Girls' Night per month. Whether they stay in or go out is depends on their mood.

Random unsorted thoughts on Godzilla x Kong:

Both this film and the last one felt like they had a story for Kong but were really struggling to come up with anything for Godzilla, so they just have him attacking random cities to kill time until they actually need him for the finale. This story in particular feels like they could've easily just cut Godzilla out all together and made it a solo Kong movie.

I'm glad Shimo didn't die, she's very pretty and she suffered a lot and deserved better.

When Ilene said to Bernie "We met in Hong Kong" I actually said out like "No you didn't". The two parties were never shown on screen together for the entire movie.

Mothra was underutilized once again but at least she's back now and didn't die, so hopefully she'll get her due in the next film. She really felt like a late addition though cause they didn't really do much set-up to explain why she was hibernating in the Hollow Earth already in moth form or why Jia was needed to awaken her.

Also, when they first introduced the Iwi leader before showing her face, I thought there was gonna be a plot twist where it turned out the Iwi didn't die in the storm, they escaped into the Hollow Earth and the leader would turn out to be Jia's twin sister. So the reason they needed Jia was because Mothra can only be awakened by a pair of twins with psychic powers. The fact that they didn't do this just kinda makes me a little angrier about the fact that they didn't bring back Ilene Chen or her sister when they were already set-up as the Monsterverse equivalent of Mothra's fairies.

It seems like they didn't get the music rights back for this movie because both Mothra and Godzilla's leitmotifs sound like generic knock-offs.

One thing this movie does that I really appreciate, and have actually been asking for, is extended sequences where we're just following the monsters with no humans around and no dialog. We get a lot of that in Kong's story, and I guess they felt like it was a safe enough choice because primates are very humanlike and can express themselves in ways that are very readable to humans. Plus the apes are supposed to be pretty intelligent, so they can put Kong into a story that could easily have been about a human character. I would like to see Godzilla get some of that treatment too, but I doubt they'll ever do it because it's harder to make him look and act human or put him into a humanly relatable plot. But like, I want that though. I want something almost like a nature documentary where it's just about animal survival in the wild, not a whole thing about finding a kingdom of primates enslaved by a cruel dictator using an ice dragon to keep everyone in line and fighting to liberate them from their oppressor.

Kong's arm brace was a deus ex machina if I ever saw one. Literally nothing hinted at its existence until it was needed to solve a very specific problem immediately after it was introduced. The entire thing plays out as one contrived coincidence after another. Like, "We had an idea for a thing, but they said it was a bad idea and shut it down. BUT ONLY AFTER WE ALREADY BUILT A WHOLE ENTIRE PROTOTYPE THAT WORKS PERFECTLY. Also, it just happens to be where we are right now. Also convenient that it was Kong's right arm instead of his left that got hurt, or one of his legs. Also, the explanation for it is that they wanted to give him an enhancement so he'd stand more of a chance against something like Godzilla in the future. It wasn't supposed to be a medical device, but it just happened to have a system for injecting Kong with meds built in, and also had those meds already loaded into the syringes ready to go at a moment's notice.

This is the third time a Titan being critically injured and needing human assistance before the final battle has been a plot point. When it happened in KOTM I feel like it worked because it was a very simple fix: Godzilla's hurt and needs radiation to regenerate, so we detonate a bomb to give him a lot of it at once so he can regenerate faster and kick Ghidorah's ass. Second time it happened it was like, "Isn't this already a discredited cliche by now? Like, that's not what defib paddles are for or how they work." In this movie, when they first introduced Trapper I was like, "Oh cool, a Titan veterinarian. That makes sense as a world building element and it gives the human characters a way to impact the story without it feeling forced." Like, the vet would be able to diagnose problems that the Titans are experiencing and figure out how to treat them, or make educated guesses about what an antagonistic Titan's weakness might be and how to exploit it based on his understanding of Titan biomedicine. But after pulling Kong's tooth, Trapper being a vet doesn't really affect the plot. Like, he didn't need that background just to know the arm brace existed and go get it and put it on him. They didn't even emphasize like, him having good beside manner to keep Kong calm because he knows how to work with animals.

I do appreciate that they introduced him as Ilene's ex so you think they're maybe going to get back together, but then for the rest of the movie it seems like it's actually Trapper and Bernie who've got the romance subplot going on.

I did not expect Kong being smart and resourceful and capable of making traps to end up being the set-up for some actually kinda hilarious moments like beaning a monkey with a rock and hitting Godzilla with pocket sand. Kong trying to drag Godzilla into the Hollow Earth by the tail was also funny. The whole reunion in general is kind of hilarious because they parted on good terms, Kong figures out that he needs help and goes to get Godzilla, but Godzilla's like "I thought I told you never to show your face here again!" so Kong just tries to straight-up kidnap him. Then Mothra shows up to make Godzilla understand why Kong is trying to make him deal with his problems.

Although, Godzilla was already juicing up like crazy because he was hearing the Iwi distress calls right? So he knew something was coming and he wanted to help, but he didn't want to hear it when Kong came to actually ask for help.

The family kept to themselves while on the beach. Both Margaux and Bernie lay on the beach towels, sunbathing. They had helped each other put on sunscreen.

Julie chose to swim around the waters, cooling off from the summer heat.

Later on, Margaux and Penrose chatted with each other, as they build a sandcastle.

Bernie had borrowed a canoe, and sailed around. Julie watched him from a safe distance in the water.

"Bernie!!!" Julie called, waving.

Bernie pumped his fist in the air, "Aye, aye, Lady Julie!"

Seamus spent that time chatting away with Perlas. He listened as she told him random bits of her life.

"At nights," she said, "I would swim in the ocean."

"Isn't that dangerous?" Seamus asked. They swung from the swing set. "What if you drown? And then no one can see you."

Perlas chuckled. "Oh, but I've lived here since I was born, Mousse. I know the waters."

"...yeah," Seamus flushed, embarrassed. Of course, he thought. What were you thinking? She lived here all of her life!

"I understand your concern though," she smiled. "So, don't worry. On stormy nights, I keep to my hut."

"That's good," he said. "Does it make a difference? Swimming at night?"

Perlas shrugged. "The water is cooler, perhaps."

"I'd love to try night swimming," he thought out loud. "But I'm sure they won't allow me. I might drown."

"Then maybe I can accompany you!"

pete and patrick on zane lowe 18.1.23

patrick: “there’s so many things that have to line up for a band to make a record at this point, let alone a good one.. when i told my parents 22 years ago i was gonna take a semester off to see what the band thing did… that was it.”

pete: “i’m pitching a reality show where he goes back to school. immediately after this. the semester is over!”

they talk about the first tour and how it went sideways but zane goes “but you shouldve known, right?”

pete: “i always knew- when patrick sang the first time i was like, “this is very special” and if we could craft something around this it will be very special. to me its like watching -and i can say this because im not patrick obviously- a great basketball player in highschool, like you know it’s there- you just gotta build it around him.”

zane asks if pete knew at the time how instrumental he’d be with writing the lyrics for fob. pete says no. zane compliments pete on the lyrics for the new single :-)

zane talks about their dynamic and how we’ve seen it before in duos like elton and bernie: “its rare but when you get it right theres something magical about it.”

patrick: “it’s really blind luck to find that person, to find somebody you write with like that, when you do its amazing because- like i said, the whole point for me was that i wanted to write songs. i like composing music. im not one of those people that keeps a journal and has all of these deep thoughts that i want to share with the world. i have to make music. and when pete sends me words, it’s like christmas morning. i open ‘em up and i dont even write, im just reading ‘em and it writes itself.”

pete talks about how because of covid and because of his family and how they all got tighter during it, new fob has to be something important and with purpose because he doesnt want to leave his family. it cant just be a random show here and there. it couldnt be that anymore.

pete: “you wanna do it for the reason you originally loved. […] life is short and long.” he also talks about how some things you just do every day because youre used to it and how it becomes part of you and how its good to be able to step back and assess yourself and ask “why”

patrick: “it’s funny thinking about the why. people would ask me about folie, and its a very love it or hate it record, and why its different… and i wanted to get back to this feeling we had when we were making [folie] which was like, “i don’t know how much longer this will last.” when we did that record, the “emo” thing had this zeitgeist explosion moment and we got swept up in it, but i dont know if we’re gonna be pop stars tomorrow. so this is the last time i can gurantee someone’s gonna front the bill for the orchestra, y’know? so there was an urgency of wanting to get your idea on tape because who knows? growing up in chicago, most of the bands i knew who had the major label record- maybe had a hit and they maybe kinda fell off. thats what i was used to so i expected that, so i was like “this might be the last record i ever make”.

**ELEMENTAL SPOILERS AHEAD**

Okay so, I was reminded of this (thanks random clips on Youtube), and since I never made a post sharing my thoughts on ‘Elemental’ despite seeing it a week ago, I wanna give my thoughts on this particular moment now and see if anyone agrees/disagrees with me, cause I’m curious.

Alright, in the typical 2nd act Break-up Scene, I understand that Wade was looking out for Ember's happiness, but he basically called her a coward and for me, that crossed the line. It may have been done with good intentions, but it was also ignorant and arrogant.

The movie makes it very clear that it's not a matter of Ember simply following her father's wishes like it is in something like ‘Turning Red’ - it's Ember wanting to make sure her dad can retire so he doesn't WORK HIMSELF TO DEATH. I can't blame her for being hesitant about revealing the truth to him. Yes, that may count as her being ‘afraid’ as Wade says, but it’s a damn reasonable fear to have! Also, I’d like to point out that if she had taken over the shop, she still could have made her glasswork art on the side, so it's not like she would be completely giving up on her dream.

I get that yes, the truth ultimately was the right decision in this case - Bernie assumed Ember wanted the shop since that's what she always said/implied since she was a kid, and once he learned that she didn't want it, people in the community were able to take over the shop for Bernie so he could retire.

Essentially, everything worked out... but it was very much an idealized best case scenario/Hollywood happy ending, so Ember was still valid in thinking that her rejecting the shop and being selfish would inadvertently lead to her father's death/them eventually losing the shop again. I could also see Ember being reluctant about leaving in general since, again, outside of the shitty customers she seemed to enjoy being at the center of the community and being an assistant manager/delivery girl. It was just being in charge of EVERYTHING and all the stress that came from it that made it a nightmare.

But in THAT regard it’s like - geez, Wade, if you're that concerned about Ember getting burnt out (ha) and being miserable, maybe YOU should offer to help run the shop with her so she doesn't get overwhelmed by awful customers (which seemed to be her main issue, given that she enjoyed the shop itself). At the very least, he should have tried to help her find some sort of compromise instead of only pushing her towards the 'tell the truth and follow your dreams' path - a path that, as Ember said, not everyone is privileged or lucky enough to follow, while Wade seems to think it’s the only valid path.

I feel like Wade being willing to not just help her find happiness but also understand her duty and loyalty to her family would have been the TRUE sign that he was a good match for her. Instead it just feels like an ignorant person seeing the dynamics in a family from a different culture and calling that family 'abusive' because they don't understand said culture differences.

Given that I enjoyed the cultural and familial aspects of ‘Elemental’ much more than the romance plot, I feel like it could have been nice to have Wade - instead of declaring his love and following the rom-com tropes to a tee - find a way to be an actual supportive ally and have THAT be the true foundation of their love instead of it JUST being their ‘chemistry’ with each other.

Instead of him deciding to take a one-way ticket out of the city and being all sad, have him discover the cracks in Ember’s glass at the dam and have him still be there later on trying to still fix it for her when she comes across it herself. Show Wade actively caring about the fate of not just Ember but also all of Fire Town, fighting for their safety and wanting them all to be okay even after Ember rejects him. I feel like seeing that, plus him helping her save the blue flame, would truly allow Ember to return Wade’s feelings, as it would help her see that even if he doesn’t fully understand it, he still sees and accepts that Ember’s people and community are important to her, so he wants to help support and protect them too regardless of whether or not it earns him a date/relationship afterwards.

There was a lot of other things that could have been added in to further support this new climax - like, instead of Wade just introducing Ember to the wonders of Element City, Ember could be sharing Fire Land culture with him as well. I also feel like Wade needed to be more of a character in his own right and less of an overly-emotional manic pixie dream boy, as otherwise he just comes off as Jack from ‘Titanic’, complete with heroic sacrifice for his love interest. Except here it’s less ‘quirky guy wanting to save a rich girl from her abusive fam’ and more ‘quirky guy wants to date a girl he fell head-over-heels with and is putting her happiness above all else... buuut that unfortunately also includes putting it above the people his love interest cares about the most’, so it’s less charming.

The fact that we barely get to learn anything about Wade’s backstory with his dead dad combined with his only real goal in the film being ‘help Ember/date Ember/save Ember, etc.’, it just makes him feel sorta shallow and a bit of an after-thought compared to Ember and the rest of the Lumen family. At best, he’s an overly emotional romantic who just cares a lot (which can be a positive or negative thing depending on the circumstances) and at worst he’s an ignorant optimist whose empathy only somewhat works on an individual level (like with Ember, or with that one airball athlete he got the arena to cheer for). Either way, I feel like Wade is the main reason why I couldn’t fully get behind the romance in the end, no matter how sweet or cute some of the earlier moments of it might have been.

When a 9th grader gets tired because of a random 5th grader's bullshit....

"I'm just bored. That's it." ("Because I have a crush on you and I just want you to notice me.")

Set in the year 1990 in Concordia... A smart 9th grader named Arthur (Who comes from a middle class family) just got a scholarship to a one prestigious school where only upper class people can afford. He's one of the luckiest kids who has gotten a scholarship and an opportunity to study in this school.

Arthur's first day in this prestigious school was filled with awe and nervousness. As he walked through the grand halls, lined with portraits of affluent alumni, he couldn't shake the feeling of being out of place. But his determination to succeed and make the most of this opportunity drove him forward.

He thought that he would experience a normal student life in this school....

But little did he know...

There's this silly, mischievous little girl who will make his life a bit.... Challenging.

A young girl going by the name of Bernadine Rochester. A bit spoiled and a mischievous 5th grader who studies from the other side of the building of the school. (And the youngest daughter of one of the most influential businessman in Concordia) who relentlessly pranks him and teases him a lot. Especially during breaktime. She would often trip him at the cafeteria, constantly teases him, messing his neatly combed brown hair, and even sabotaging his one science fair project, and the lists goes on and on and on for all of these shenanigans that she has done.

But despite her mischievous antics, Bernadine harbored a secret admiration for him, one that she masked with teasing and pranks. Deep down, her actions were fueled by a desire for attention and perhaps even a longing for his acknowledgment. However, she was too proud to admit it openly, choosing instead to express herself through these playful yet sometimes hurtful gestures.

Aside from the pranks that she always do to Arthur... She also just wanted some acknowledgement from other people. Especially to her father, who she just wanted to spend time with.

Despite all of this stuff, Arthur is still determined to study in this large, prestigious private school that he has gotten to. Even if Bernadine tries to prank the shit out of him and gets in his way, that still wouldn't stop him and he will not be affected to those silly pranks and teaseful words that she throws at him. Arthur accepted the scholarship to study and to get a better future for his life. And he will not give up this easily just because a mischievous, rich little girl tries to annoy and teases him.

And Little Bernie wouldn't give up on her antics either. She will always find some ways to tease him and to be friends with him as well. Despite being 4 years younger, Bernie admires him a lot not just because she finds him cute. But she also liked how smart and determined Arthur is. Especially after finding out how he entered the school... This also drives her to work hard on her studies and to prove to him, to everyone, and to her father that she isn't just that one silly, bratty, and mischievous young girl she is. She wants to prove that she's capable of achieving and excelling in her academic life.

Will they become good friends? Or not? Or will Bernadine's playful, teaseful antics still continue in their adult life?

Will Arthur finally notice her and be close with her? Especially when they reach adulthood? Or will he shove her away and won't be associated with her?

So this is just a random idea that I came up to. An AU where I made Bernadine to be that one silly, haughty, and a menacing little girl that teases a middle-class boi just to express her admiration to him. In this AU, young Arthur usually thinks that little Bernadine is just an annoying, spoiled brat who lacks attention from her parents (which he was right lol) but he didn't know that she secretly admires him a lot and that was just Bernadine's way to make friends with him. Also, he sometimes gets mad at her. (Especially the time when Bernie sabotaged Arthur's science fair project) But Little Bernie doesn't care and even though Arthur told her many times to stop... She would just stick her tongue out to him. Telling him that she can do whatever she wants. (😜) or sometimes.... She would just go "🖕🏻" straight at his face.

And in this AU.... Arthur also found out that Bernadine just lives in the same suburban town that he's living. (Arthur and his parents just recently moved there. And everytime he sees Bernadine in this town, he would immediately hide in a bush or he would run fast straight into his home. 😂)

But don't worry. In adulthood, This attitude of her has toned down a little bit.... She actually became more mature and wise. (Like in the game of course) But there are still times that she would still tease Arthur. But at least it isn't worse compared to what she had done to him when they were kids. 👀

Also... sorry if I made young Bernadine an Archie 2.0 in this AU. I just think that it's kinda funny that she's like this in this AU that I've made.

when we think about it, Isabella spent hours to make little Berny for Conny's birthday when she knew at this point that Conny would be shipped one month after this birthday

(she know who will be shipped in the three/four months to come, except if one of these kids made a spectacular progresses suddently, then… this kid is saved for a while i guess).

She spent hours to create a toy that was going to be cherished for only four weeks. and she probably did that for a lot of kids who has the same mont of time than Conny, some had probably more and some had maybe less.

She loves so much her kids and wants them to be happy so much.

For Ray she literally managed to obtain a cool watch that he still uses at almost 12 (and maybe he took it in the escape). He took care of it, he didn't use it for create the anti-trackers device, so he enjoyed the gift.

I dunno exactly how far in advance Isabella knew Conny was gonna be the next one to be shipped out (though she had to be aware it was only a matter of time since her her test scores were pretty low), so the fact Isabella went through all that trouble to make something for her is very sweet indeed. I say "trouble," but with Isabella being so skilled with everything, I can imagine she made Little Bunny fairly quickly.

I also love that Isabella decided to make Little Bunny from scratch rather than just order a bunny plush like all the other objects she gifted Ray as it gives that extra personal touch which really shows how deep her love is for these kids.

When ya say cool watch, are you referring to the pocket watch Ray often used during his time Grace Field? I.. never thought that it would've been another one of his gifts he received from acting as Isabella's watch dog. How did I never think of that..? I mean, it would make sense, yeah? Where else would he even get one if not from Isabella herself? I doubt one was conveniently lying around the house for him to take. Oh, I like this idea very much. (y'all, is this confirmed to be true anywhere about how/when he got the pocket watch??)

About whether or not he took it with him post-escape, I wondered the exact same thing and thankfully I was awarded with an answer during ch61. Unfortunately, I'm slow with realizing that these are two completely different watches, as the one he used at GF didn't open like this one apparently does. Sigh..

Okay so now I'm gonna ramble about something that's been on my mind recently due to me comparing some season two scenes to recent manga chapters, but the watch in the second season's OP has to be Ray's, yea?

The tracking devices Isabella & Krone use are silver, not to mention that we get a clear shot of Ray's during s1ep1. It also doesn't open up like the one used during the trip to Goldy Pond.

Of course what caught my eye are the several tiny scratches on the pocket watch seen in the Identity OP. Had I not gone back to check the first episode just now, I would've imagine the scratches could've been from the stick he used during ch181.5 or something, but since that event of him destroying his tracker takes place before the anime starts, that obviously can't be true. His extra chapter released way after season one anyways and he wasn't even shown using the pocket watch then either. This moment only came to mind because of how precise he timed Isabella's arrival.

Perhaps the damage is just there for dramatic effect. I dunno, just a random thought I've been wondering about. Oh, and the anime pocket watch also doesn't include the chain it has in the manga. I can't complain about that detail though since it's so minor and would've been an extra, unnecessary thing to animate.

I know the question started off with Conny and I just went on a whole Ray tangent and for that I apologize, especially considering it was Conny's birthday, aahaha. Well, I'm posting this a couple minutes late in that case but I was close!

To continue the woobified view of the Elites and my comparison of them to the Black Eagles :

Same for me regarding the BE, especially because they also literally fought Edelgard's troops in WC when you choose their house, and even if you don't, they definitely still would know that Edelgard dus nasty shits in WC.

The idea that media literacy is dead is quite fitting, because the idea that even rotten persons have loved ones/that having loved ones doesn't mean you're not rotten is a known thing, yet the Eagles and elites get a pass solely because "they genuinely believe in the cause" and "they love and care for each other"

Probably Fraldarius was as devoted to Nemesis as Ingrid to Dimitri, Lamine very well may have been as sassy as Dorothea, perhaps Goneril was as brave and endearing as Caspar, or Maurice was as loyal to his clan's interests as Petra to Brigid's happiness (through a strong bond to the Empire) but like the BE, they are butchers, who relished in the destruction of everything those against them hold dear, lap dogs and rabid curs of someone they definitely know have crushed innocents and scorn the very idea of peace except under their domination.

The only meaningful difference between Edelgard-following BE and the elites is that we can know more about the BE and we are forced to dislike cutting them down even as they refuse to let northern Fódlan alone.

Honestly I need a fanfiction where the BE are called out for that bullshit.

That's the tone deaf feeling I got from Nopes, the Deers are hunting someone bcs their leader wants her dead for no reason, but Raph only comments on how hungry he is.

Uh, sure Raph, you're not the most thoughtful character in there, but come on? Some commentary or exposition on what you're doing? Hello KT? Can we have characters be challenged or even react to the events of screen instead of wondering what's for dinner/teatime?

I wouldn't say it's an issue of media litteracy being dead, but more something in the lines of people being more and more "all or nothing" nowadays, without any nuance and conflating liking a character with the idea/image that might project on you : if I like ASOIAF's Cersei, I don't think everything she does is "justified", but modern fandom, I feel like some people would categorize you as a "good" or "bad" person based on the characters you like, and it's just... not what fandom is or was supposed to be imo, I'm here to nerd and gush about favourite characters, not write litteral essays about the Geneva Convention.

Corollary is what, imo, made the Fodlan fandom hell : some people really take "criticism" against a character personally - sure the way FE16 was written invites projection, but at the end of the day, making a Berning Fire Joke is, just, making a joke about a bunch of pixels, nothing more.

Back to the BEs, they can have a sense of camaraderie and genuinely support each other... as they tear apart "people because Supreme Leader told me to" and fight side by side with Bob the Carpented who was turned into Waldi the demonic beast.

Ferdie can skewer Flayn on her father's lance because she is "a creature that has plagued humanity for ages" even if they reached a C support before shit hit the fan - and still protect Mercedes and Bernie from their abusing Fathers. Does that make him a great guy? A nuanced guy?

I think the trope is called "even evil people have loved ones" or something like that?

I don't think so, but he is no random one note villain sycophant either - now, what is the more annoying with the Fodlan games is how this dichotomy is never called upon : everything is just a giant blob or Hresvelg Grey ("morally grey" but only applied to Supreme Leader) where no one really is angry at her, and all the "sacrifices" she's making are off-screen while the characters on-screen always moan about her "ReFoRmS" and "IdEaLs" without talking about the cost bar some milquetoast "but war bad". And no one, in the game, will ever throw this hypocrisy to their face - Gallant Ferdinand will dream about the Opera as he wipes off the blood of a young woman who just wanted to return to the only home she had.

Yay.

FWIW, some mutuals and I have nothing but pure lols about Doro's line in the non-CF routes being "we killed Ferdie professor :'(" because, hey, why should I care more about Ferdie than about random loldier 55 ? Rhea? Felix? Claude? Ignatz?

Maybe the Elites were really friends and became """"nice""" persons with time, to their families and loved ones ?

Does this magically erase what they did before? Will that "good" they did erase all the "wrongs" they have previously done? Will theyr forever escape the consequences of their actions?

In a game that depicts Flamey as a terrorist for 11 chapters only to drop that plot point by the window to moan, again, about her "IdEaLs", "consequences" are maybe something you can eat as a snack, or throw in a trashcan.

So following the rules of this verse, given how Supreme Leader never receives flak for her Flamey stunts, why should the Elites receive any for what they did? Look, Maurice calls Daphnel his friend, surely he is not that bad of a man? Well yeah, he might have seduced women and planted a lot of wild oats here'n'there, but he cares about his friends!

Jeritza likes ice creams and cats! Surely it's more important to paint him as a cat lover than to deal with all the consequences of his stunt as the Death Knight, kidnapping and implied rekting young woman while he was in GM, under Flamey's orders, right?

Calling it now, after eviscerating Seteth's older brother, Goneril might have melted in front of one of Rhea's kittens, and adopted the cat asap. Surely that makes Goneril a "good" character right? And forget the entire "genocided a bunch of hippies living isolated in their village" stuff?

I don't have fanfics recs where the BEs are called hypocrites, but I confess I don't read a lot of fanfics in the FE16 fandom because of all of the aforementioned issues.

Elemental Delete Scenre- Overall Thoughts

After seeing all the delete scenes, I came to the conclusion that I am happy with the version that we got. And how making an animated movie is far more complicated than we thought.

Ember's Mom Rejects Wade: On early versions, it was Cinder who was gonna be against Ember and Wader relationship rather than Bernie with Bernie supporting Ember. I am glad they reverse it. Because by the look of that delete scence if Cinder was going to be a traditional Asian mom and there would have been complaints of "another Turning Red mom".

Welcome to Elemental City: In this early version of the intro instead of Bernie and Cinder arriving to the city it was gonna be another fire family with Ember showing them around how the city works and accommodating them. In the end, it makes sense for the story to change to Bernie and Cinder intro rather than some random family.

Dante Challenge: First, I am gonna ignore the whole controversy of Wade feeling attracted to Dante. In this scene Ember and Wade help Dante accomodate into a non-fire apartment in the end fail due Dante severe allergies. I am glad they got rid of this because Bernie was acting more antagonistic towards Ember. He seems to prove Ember more why it was impossible to live among other elements. He was even glad that Ember failed at her job to help Dante live outside Firetown. Heck, at first, he even suggested Dante to live with Ember at her apartment, which is not a nice thing for a dad to do. I'm glad that we got a more positive father-daughther relationship.

Beach Proposal: A proposal were originally Ember and Wade were already dating for a long run instead of getting to know each other. Shame that they got rid of this. But in the end, a proposal was too soon for the story that we got.

Brook Dinner: After watching this, I came to the conclusion that some movies are better off without a villain, with Elemental being one of those movies. Brook was originally going to be an antagonist. Not only was she against Wade dating Ember. But she pretty much blackmails Ember that if she didn't break up with him, she was not going to fix the pipe leak. Suggesting that originally, the destruction of the dam was going to be an attempted genocide rather than an accident. Have they gone through this, people would not only complain of another evil parent (and contrary to antis Bernie is not an antagonist) but that the story was a copy of Zootopia. Nice, we got a supporting mom. Also, a small nitpick from this scene is that Wade doesn't manage to make Ember cry in the "Crying Game". Destroying the purpose of Wade managing to get through Ember's heart.

Steam Baby: Yes, the famous steam baby that was meant to be the original ending. They didn't go through because they were hoping the movie would become popular enough for a continuation. Which I came to understand. We all have wanted to see a baby, but just like the beach proposal, it was too soon for that. Even if they have gone through a large time skip.

From all these delete scenes, the ones that hurt not making it to the final product are the beach proposal and the steam baby. Just hope one day we see them fully animated. Either as a sequel or a short.
