Summary under the cut ;)
When Fae awakens in an unfamiliar home, he has no memory of how he got there - or of much else.
Only three things are clear to him. First, he is a vampire. Second, he burns at his center with an inexplicable and implacable anguish. The third he keeps to himself, unwilling to risk reaching the limit of his hosts' kindness. He'll stay with them until he regains his strength, then flee - no harm done.
When Roa came upon the unconscious vampire on his family's ranch, he was wholly unprepared to find himself attracted to the handsome stranger. His life - the love of his family and his clan-had always been enough for him before. But as quiet, brilliant Fae recovers, then chooses to stay in Roa's ancestral home, it becomes clear to him that he wants something more... just as it becomes clear that something is terribly wrong.
In the face of insurmountable grief, how can love survive?

My new favorite character Rathatayen. First of all, I LOVE THAT NAME. He is sassy, strong, will tell you like it is, and deserves so much love. He is from the novel Tournament Of Losers by Megan Derr. The tournament is for the poor to compete and win a chance at a better life married in a house of nobility, all the way up to the royal family. Rath only wanted to make enough money to get his idiotic father out of debt. He didn't expect to do as well as he has competing, and he certainly didn't expect to find himself in love with a noble-

Okay this gut punch is actually from When Witches Sing, the yuletide novella that takes place after PAR, but for a day at the river it's so fitting.

The Devotion of Delflenor
I could put the summary here but like.... meh.
Look, there is a plot. Like. They are knights in a country that is supposed to have a divinely ordained ruler... but there is no ruler. Also there is some discussion of duty and like... maybe that child soldiers are bad? But also some pining and... I don't think a single cis character? Was there one? I don't even remember but I don't think so.
idk. There is a heroic lady knight and a determined not to be heroic enby who is also a knight but playing at being a squire because they want to help but are also a bit of a drunken, slutty mess.
Also a magical fox, because I was having fun with knight story tropes, and we could call him a Fisher King type, and absolutely not a sword in the stone because then I would have had to go into the history of iron and nobody wants that level of nerding out in their fantasy romance.
Also there are battle unicorns.
Anyway, it's free right now.

This is what my book looks like right now. I started off writing bullet points, and then rough dialog, and it kinda turned into a legit first draft!
Usually I get stuck trying to figure out the plot for a week (as an absolute minimum, usually more like 3 months tbh) but this kinda just flowed out of me in 3 write-til-I-drop chunks of time.
Zooming out and seeing it all in Figma like this, I suddenly feel like I've never made progress so quickly in my life! It's a good day 🏳️‍🌈

Just finished The Green Creek series and I LOVED IT. It broke my heart every time and sewed it back together.
Does anyone have any book recommendations for something similar?

Your Siren Boyfriend eventually tricking you into the water after weeks of just chatting to you on the docks. He never sings or tries to convince you to come in. He sits in the water, his arms propping him up on the low dock so you two can talk. His eyes dark as a trench, and you can’t help but worry about all the light on the surface hurting him. Even at night, it’s still brighter than where he’s from.
The night you bring him sunglasses is when he knows you’re going to be his mate. He feigns confusion and asks how to put them on. You giggle and lean forward, setting them on his face. He takes that moment to grab your wrists, yanking you into the salt water. You barely manage to catch a breath before hitting the water, not that it matters because as soon as he kisses you, you suddenly can breathe.
You want to be angry at him, but he looks so happy. He starts clicking and chirping, something he hasn’t done in a few weeks since he realized you can’t understand him. It must be like when you gets excited and revert to your mother tongue.
His shark teeth gently nip at you neck as he tugs at your clothes, encouraging you to slip out of your swimsuit. You know that you shouldn’t. This isn’t right. But you can’t help yourself. The feeling of your Siren slipping inside of you makes you whimper. He pushes you against the shifting sand of the ocean floor, slamming into you roughly. You can’t help the moans and sounds that escape your mouth. Thank God you can breathe under water now because there’s no way you could have contained yourself.
When he’s done, he eases back, burying his face between your trembling legs. His fat tongue encourages you to finish, and you do rather quickly. Once he’s satisfied, his kisses make their way back up to your lips.
“You’ll stay with me, won’t you?”

A River of Golden Bones by A.K. Mulford
A River of Golden Bones by A.K. Mulford offers a deluge of earnest gender discovery in a frankly wonderful sleeping beauty retelling reimagined as a queer shifter romance. Wolf shifters Calla and Briar are famed twin orphans of the fallen Golden Court. Briar was raised to become a Wolf princess that would one day lead her people and marry the handsome Prince Grae. Calla was the child raised to protect her sister and lead armies. But, upon Grae’s return to the twin's hidden childhood home for his wedding to Briar, Calla cannot help but feel something is wrong. She loves her childhood best friend but knows she will never be accepted as Prince Grae’s match even though she knows her sister has never been attracted to men. But at the wedding, expected matches change, and the evil sorceress who killed the twins’ parents all those years ago has returned to muddy the waters further by stealing Briar and placing her under a sleeping curse. Calla will now do anything to save her and return her to safety, even if she/they must run away from the prince who holds her heart. Mulford confronts how one dismantles cultural gender binaries to discover their nonbinary identity amidst romantic heroic quests that sizzle off the page in the first book of The Golden Court series.
Now, queer wolf shifter mates will always be fun, but there is something so wonderful about how it is done here. Briar’s sapphic relationship is wonderful and the central love interests in the story, Calla and Grae are simply perfect. I am a sucker for a friend-to-lovers relationship and the friendship, care, and loyalty they show to each other is so wonderfully done. They are partners still discovering how they will work together and love each other as adults. The Wolf community is patriarchal and heavily relies on the gender binary, so a nonbinary warrior like Calla must dismantle their cultural biases in order to find acceptance and Grae is right there for it all. Sure, they are often running for their lives against a ticking clock to save Briar, but they still have time for deeply important conversations along the way.
It is easy to sing this gorgeous book’s praises. The high fantasy worldbuilding is impressive. The main characters and side characters have some excellent character arcs. Plus, the romance at the center of it all is frankly hot. If anything about queer shifter mates, friends to lovers, lost heirs, or sleeping beauty retellings appeal to you, just get this book, please. You will be doing yourself a favor. Thank you Harper Voyager for providing me with an earc for an honest review of this delicious fantasy romance set to release December 5, 2023.

Okay, well, I was planning to build up some hype, but
🦇🎃HAPPY HALLOWEEN🎃🦇
Lorehaven Bound: A Hunger Pangs Short is now available on Amazon.
Tumblr media
A train ride through the Nevrondian countryside should be a calming proposition, but for Ursula, it isn't. Her thoughts swirl, fixated on one thing... make that two things. Specifically Nathan Northland and Vlad Blutstein. It's not just because they are both breath-stealingly attractive—although to be fair, that doesn't hurt. It's because they surprised her, and Ursula is very rarely surprised.
Even more confounding is her reaction to them, particularly the vampire, Vlad. Just what is she supposed to do about these... feelings?
All Ursula knows is that she doesn't have time for emotions right now. Not when the fate of the world is at stake. She can deal with this later. First, she's got to figure out what story she's going to tell the sure-to-be-furious Alfbern. Then, she needs to catch up on all the sleep she missed before hitting the road again. Surely, she can do those things while being Lorehaven Bound.
*
This story is a 10,000-word character study/missing moment that takes place immediately after Hunger Pangs: True Love Bites. You will want to read that first if you don't want to be spoiled for the events in that book!

💖 Available now on Amazon
💖 Apple, Kobo, Smashwords, and more... (links still populating.)

Happy reading!
Okay, thanks, love you all, bye.
ID: A red book cover showing a feminine figure standing in front of a steam strain. The title reads Lorehaven Bound, A Hunger Pangs short by International Bestselling Author Joy Demorra. There is a glittery crystal next to the text, and gold decorative swirls adorn the corners.

“Yes, Arlo?” He asks, and it’s such a simple thing. Like we’re old friends.
I take off my beanie and rake my hair back, then slip it back on and clear my throat. “I don’t know, honestly. I have nothing clever, other than I meant what I said, before. I like Just Thatch, and that’s who I’d like to show around town, if you change your mind that is, and still need a guide.”
I absently straighten my jacket, flushed. Thatch chuckles, scratching at his beard as he stares up at me, contemplating. “I misjudged you, Arlo. I apologize, one can’t be too sure of a stranger’s intentions, especially when they have such a change of heart.”
“Is that what we are? Strangers?” I ask, immediately surprised at myself. Thatch’s mischievous smile fades for a second, then he recovers with vigor.
“I suppose so, but I am still in need of a guide for the festival. I’ve obviously visited the city in my brief visits, but I’m curious to know Levena like someone who lives here would.”
I laugh softly, but my heart aches. He’s not wrong, but I feel … cheated, in a sense.

grant morrison being in the danger days music videos is the funniest thing to me. because gerard way really said “hey can we get my comic book writer hero to be in this video and play the sexy bad guy” and grant was like hell yes
but. but then Sing. literally has a shot of grant pinning gerard against the wall and caressing his chin with the end of a gun, before they smirk and pull the trigger. gerard literally go-directed and planned these videos. they, at some point, had to sit down with grant and be like “okay here’s the plan” and grant just rolled with it
i think gerard had some fantasies to live out there

It’s Pride 2023! Time to put up some more comic recs!
This time I’ve put together some stories about discovering one’s own queer identity, outlining a family history of queerness, and several stories where being queer isn’t the focus - queer characters are simply allowed to be.
Belle of the Ball By Mari Costa
High-school senior and notorious wallflower Hawkins finally works up the courage to remove her mascot mask and ask out her longtime crush: Regina Moreno, head cheerleader, academic overachiever, and all-around popular girl. There’s only one teensy little problem: Regina is already dating Chloe Kitagawa, athletic all-star…and middling English student. Regina sees a perfectly self-serving opportunity here, and asks the smitten Hawkins to tutor Chloe free of charge, knowing Hawkins will do anything to get closer to her. And while Regina’s plan works at first, she doesn’t realize that Hawkins and Chloe knew each other as kids, when Hawkins went by Belle and wore princess dresses to school every single day. Before long, romance does start to blossom…but not between who you might expect. With Belle of the Ball, cartoonist Mariana Costa has reinvigorated satisfying, reliable tropes into your new favorite teen romantic comedy.

Despite Anya's dedication, she wonders what it would be like to live in the sun. Her thoughts turn into an obsession, and when Anya takes a chance to stay up during the day to feel the sun's warmth, her village and the lunar moths are left to deal with the consequences.

Then Izzy is pulled into the orbit of the town's teen royalty, Vicky Van Tassel (yes, that Van Tassel) and loveable varsity-level prankster Croc Byun. Vicky's weariness with her family connection to the legend turns to terror when the trio begins to be haunted by the Horseman himself, uncovering a curse set on destroying the Van Tassel line. Now, they have only until Halloween night to break it—meaning it's a totally inconvenient time for Izzy to develop a massive crush on the enigmatic Vicky. Can Izzy's practical nature help her face the unknown—or only trip her up? As the calendar runs down to the 31st, Izzy will have to use all of her wits and work with her new friends to save Vicky and uncover the mystery of the legendary Horseman of Sleepy Hollow—before it's too late.

And she can’t stop thinking about her huge crush on Madeleine, who she definitely can’t tell about her sudden penchant for kleptomania… But does Maddy have secrets of her own? Through narrative that is alternately heartbreaking and fiercely funny, we are drawn into a daughter's complex yearning for her father. A mtf werewolf girlfriend that hates shifting. She struggles with being so hairy, and how huge her cock gets at that time of the month. The only thing that makes her feel a little better is when you point out that you both have a “that time of the month”.
However, you start complementing her when she shifts, much to her confusion and surprise. Of course you love how furry and hairy she gets. You love her hair and her fur is so soft and it smells like her shampoo. She’s big enough to literally crush you but she could step on your throat and you’d thank her (that always makes her laugh). No, her cock doesn’t make you think she’s less of a woman. She’d have to dick you down with a strap if she didn’t have it and this adds excitement to your breeding kink, especially if she would just give into her primal urge and fucking knot you already.
You know that it’s not going to help eradicate her dysmorphia, but you hope it helps, because no matter what your Werewolf Girlfriend is the most beautiful woman in the world.
