I put off reading the Batman who laughs for years just bc the amount of spit and saliva all over the pages was too much for me. But it’s actually kind of good and now that I’ve read it I get the hype 😔
I love stories where the hero is changing and is powerless to stop it. I love the way they play with the speech bubbles to show it. Of course, I want the hero to overcome their struggle and win, or else it gets grim dark and boring. But every time the writer hints to a change in the character’s mental state, that shit drives me crazy.
Is it top tier writing? Nah. Does it contain my favorite trope of all time and pull it off in a somewhat compelling way? Yes. And that’s good enough for me lol
(Arkham knight actually does it better imo but w/e. The Batman cartoon does it well too. Check those out if the slobber of the comic version disgusts you too much.)
the lego batman movie reads like it was written by jason and tim mocking bruce and dick, like you can’t tell me the batjokes isnt there to piss bruce off, courtesy of tim, or the whole scaly panties thing isn’t jason making fun of the robin uniform
