Non-English speaking Destiny fans, this is a general call for input: this season (Season of the Seraph), how is “warmind” being translated? I recall the translations for the Warmind DLC not being what I expected, and illuminating; for instance French rendered Rasputin’s title as “Esprit Tutélaire” or tutelary deity and German rendered him as “Kriegsgeist” or “War-[Spirit/Mind/Ghost].”

Studying linguistics is actually so wonderful because when you explain youth slang to older professors, instead of complaining about how "your generation can't speak right/ you're butchering the language" they light up and go “really? That’s so wonderful! What an innovative construction! Isn't language wonderful?"

Hi! Hello everybody! My name is Beatriz, but everybody calls me Bea I am 21 years old, and I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil I work as junior tech of occupational health and safety. I am an undergraduate now I study PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE at the Federal university of Rio de Janeiro. So I have a personal ranking of languages, English is in first place. And not only because it is one of the most spoken languages in the world, but more because I like the language, and it sounds good in my voice, I think… But what I mean is that I like the sound that I imitate when I speak English, and I like to hear other people speaking English, do you understand me? (Well, I hope so!)

So let's start from the beginning… I'm going to share with you how I came to love English… Once upon a time, a little girl named Bea, that's me, loved to sing, dance and pretend to do a show for her dolls in her room and when she was about 8 years old she started to listen to a different genre than usual (before it was only Xuxa and Floribella songs) this girl started to listen to international pop divas like Beyoncé Rihanna and Shakira, (today she is a big fan of Bruno Mars), well. The show for the dolls still continued, but this time it was in English and every day her interest in the language was increasing, until she decided to get an English dictionary to learn other words besides those she heard in the songs and know what they meant. Since then the girl has been trying to be bilingual, but without success, for her, it was just another hobby, and today she continues to be, only with goals to achieve.

Okay! Okay! Now, let's get serious! The series, movies and cartoons I watch are in English because it sounds good to my ears. I am almost not listening to music, sometimes I even sing in those moments when I am singing or speaking "Portenglish" (non-English) in the chat of the games I play, I feel bilingual, although I feel insecure about the pronunciation or if I am speaking in the correct verb tense. I often read scientific articles and some of them are only in English and I get nervous because sometimes I don't understand and end up using a translator.

English influences my identity, but in a positive way, and in a few years when I reach fluency I will have the same identity, but with upgrades. "That's all folks!" (You catch the reference, right?) Lol.
