DALLAS LIU SEES YOUR TIKTOK THIRST-TRAP EDITS OF HIM

Dallas Liu may be playing the Zuko in Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but you won’t catch him with the Fire Nation prince’s restrictive, gravity-defying ponytail in real life.

“I would never, ever out of my own personal choice rock the ponytail. It’s a haircut that not even cosplayers are willing to take on,” he tells NYLON. “I can gladly say that I would not recommend it to anyone.” But the 22-year-old actor does admit to what fans of the original animated series have known since the show debuted back in 2015: “The ponytail does look super badass on screen.”

Liu says he knew the challenge of bringing such a beloved character to life, but not only did he grow up watching the animated series and loving the Fire Nation prince for his fierce loyalty, but the show inspired him to start practicing martial arts. Ahead, Liu takes on the NYLON 19, revealing his thoughts on ghosts (or “spirits,” as he prefers to call them), TikTok thirst-trap edits of himself, and more.

1. WHAT’S YOUR ASTROLOGICAL SIGN (AND DO YOU BELIEVE IN IT)?

I am a Leo! Unfortunately, I don’t believe in it because of my experience meeting people with the same birthday, but us being different personality-wise.

2. DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS (AND HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ONE)?

Yes, most definitely. Although I think the word “spirits” would be a better way to define it. I’ve never seen one — thank God — but I have felt uneasy in very old hotels or rooms that have a very long history.

3. WHO WOULD BE THE THREE HEADLINERS OF THE MUSIC FESTIVAL OF YOUR DREAMS?

Dominic Fike, Beach House, and Sade.

4. WHAT'S A BAD HABIT OF YOURS THAT YOU'VE BEEN MEANING TO FIX?

Honestly, I’m so bad at parking my car. Not that I’m bad at driving, but when it comes to parallel parking or even in a parking lot, I don’t put much thought into it.

5. WHAT WAS THE LAST INTERNET RABBIT HOLE YOU WENT DOWN?

I spend too many nights doom-scrolling on Instagram or TikTok, but it was probably a compilation of Avatar: The Last Airbender lore.

7. WHAT WAS THE LAST DM YOU RECEIVED?

My friend sent me a TikTok thirst-trap edit of myself this morning which was interesting.

8. IF YOU COULD BE IN ANY MUSIC VIDEO, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I would have to say either the music video for Bow Wow’s “Let Me Hold You” or Chris Brown’s “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” just because the music videos in the ‘00s were just built differently.

9. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CONCERT, AND WHAT ARE YOUR MEMORIES OF IT?

Daniel Caesar performing in LA for his Case Study 01: Tour. It was my first one, so I remember everything about it. At the time, he was taking the music industry by storm and I was a major fan, so that concert was everything to me. I also was introduced to how much of a different experience listening to live music is.

10. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE AS A KID?

The Polar Express.

11. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MEME/INTERNET JOKE AND WHY?

The personality that comes with wearing a fedora. It’s always funny to me and forever will be. Maybe one day I’d get to play a character that wears a fedora. Maybe Zuko.

A sweet latte with oat milk from Blue Bottle. A must. Just try it. It’s so good. I could live off of it.

My vintage Green Day shirt. It had the perfect shade of a faded black and the fit of it was immaculate.

Military boots because they look the coolest.

Finished all eight episodes and well, that was underwhelming. Here are my main impressions.

Clothing was too clean and looked like it came out of a cosplayer's closet instead of being actual, lived-in clothes (if there's one thing the failed movie did right, it was the clothes)

Zuko was decent

Sokka had an a+ personality but was missing some nuance

The Sokka and Suki meeting was boring and had typical teen romance cliches galore

Appa and Momo were cute

Not sure how I felt about them starting with 100 years ago, and the cut between that time and the present day was jarring, I feel like the title card should've been there instead to break it up. And just the title card, none of that weirdly glowly, oddly-colored narrative with the bending examples and stuff, it looked so odd

If Katara were a spice, she'd be flour, if she were a book, she'd be two books, where the heck was her fire and spunk and generally just. differentiating traits because I didn't see any and it was so boring to watch her

Like honestly! She didn't have her motherly/parental role thing going on, even in a toned-down way, and she was missing her passion, I just. What else is left

Bumi was scary af man

Lots of the compositing was blurry as shit and it was distracting, probably a lot of newbie, abused comp artists with pay cuts given dneg was working on it

Aang revealing himself all mystically with the intense music, then two seconds later the music stops and he slides down on the ice with a thump made me lol, and I don't think that was the intended reaction

They're in the arctic and you can't see anyone's breath, why is that, tell me

Suki removes her makeup in like 2.4 seconds without missing a single bit of it, teach me your ways gurll

Momo is actually cute and not a demon, praise raava

The fire nation armor is pretty brutal, the shoulder pads are like obvious cardboard that isn't even trying to look like metal (I still can't really tell if it's supposed to be metal? That's not a good thing fam)

Way too much exposition and 'telling, not showing', some of the convos dragged on for wayyy too long

The fox thing was unnecessary, but I liked Yue's added motivation to help Aang as well as her people

What the f did they do to Azula, the foundations of her character are totally different from the og show and she barely even feels like a villain. Some of her lines about being inadequate or 'not good enough' felt really contrived too

Lots of strange cuts and camera work, more than a few times there was a person talking and the camera was looking at their waist or something else for no reason lol, and there wasn't an establishing shot when there needed to be, so things were just disorientating a lot of the time

Lots of things happened but the show just. didn't give any time for them to marinate. Sokka telling Aang he abandoned his people, he knew it, blah blah in one of the early episodes? It's poignant but it lasts like five seconds before the scene totally changes, I got major whiplash, fam

The lion roaring sound effect every time someone firebent, please stop I beg

Azula being defiant was interesting and the lightning scene was cool but I still miss Daddy's Pet Azula

Sokka screaming on Appa was funny

My favourite scene was probably the dude going 'but we're the forty-first!' and Iroh telling them, 'and you're all alive because of his sacrifice'. Like dang that hit hard and I loved it. I liked how they added that

Avatar Roku was like ?? um. I know he and Sozin were goofballs but cmon man

The shots with Koh capturing Sokka and Katara were cheesy as shit especially with the sound effects lmao, it looked like horror movie jumpscares from a b-movie

Some of the acting was hammier than a ham sandwich. Even Zhao gave me that impression at times especially with the dang spirit fish scene

Pippinpaddleopsicopolis the third

I know they had to condense a crap ton of episodes, but it really felt like the show was just checking off boxes at times instead of (like I said earlier) letting anything marinate

The opening scene with the earthbending and firebending was cool, it's a shame the rest of the show didn't live up to that

The bending vfx looked good. The choreography did feel a bit disconnected though, and not as martial arty as I would've liked

I felt like I could blatantly see some of the reasons the og creators left the show

Grumps tbh I'd give it like 4/10.

Submitting propaganda for Yakko in the form of me sharing that I got to meet Rob Paulsen last year. He gives incredible hugs and is one of the sweetest humans out there. Here's a picture of us (and yes I am cosplaying Revenge era Gerard Way and yes I gave him a fake purple flower because he was Donatello in the 2012 Ninja Turtles show that's like my favorite cartoon on the planet)

Nothing against the Mr. Big song my dad loved that song and I love it too but a vote for Yakko is a vote for a national treasure of a man and the world song is impressive as hell

!!! I didn't have "Gerard Way cosplayer meets the Yakko guy" on my bingo card but dude this is EVERYTHING

Apparently he's an awesome guy and sings Yakko's World every time he gets the chance. What an absolute legend.

I went to my first con today with some of my best friends and holy shit it was so worth the price! There were so many awesome cosplays there (so so SO Many CR cosplays, we would’ve gone to the critter meet up but we were queueing for the bbc ghosts panel lmao).

There were learning some experiences, mainly if there’s a popular early panel, get ready at the arse-crack of dawn and be as early as possible because many fans are committed. (We were still able to see the panel live but man it would’ve been cool to ask a question). Also I should’ve more pictures because everyone looks so damn cool.

Regardless we still got to see and wave to the cr cast passing by, although we felt a little rude/annoying for peeking around the photo-op booth but hey we saw most of them (sadly we missed taliesin) in the flesh, which was crazy in itself, and weren’t shooed away from the barrier. Big up the security guy there too he was hilarious.

The Artist Alley was genuinely my purgatory in the best way possible. All of the prints we saw were so beautiful and if I could I would’ve bought smth from basically every stall we stopped by. Walking around, half of the time my friend and I would go “OMG I RECOGNISE THAT ARTIST FROM TUMBLR!!”

I managed to limit myself to buying two prints. One from the very lovely Kit Buss / @anemonetea , who was extremely gracious as I started rambling about how beautiful her art is and it being my first con and cosplay (thank you for noticing my friend’s simon belt!), and another from the equally brilliant @onesmolhurts much love <33

Also shout out to the winter variant veth cosplayer you were lovely <33 (from the lvl 2 beauregard w the vax and fire nation aang cosplayers)

All in all I would 100% do it all again!

Kara, Winn and Brainy roommate au, but they hide their identities from each other.

New to National City, Kara, Winn and Brainy come to the conclusion that they need roommates to afford living. By chance, the three of them meet and discovered that they get along enough that they won’t off each other if it gets too much.

Twist is, Kara hides the fact that she’s Supergirl, Braiy hides that he’s and alien/from the future trying to find his way back to the future, and Winn doesn’t tell them he works with both Supergirl and Querl (Brainy insisted on being called Querl) but he doesn’t actually see him. Winn mostly works anonymously because he doesn’t want to be known as the Toymakers son. So he goes by a different name.

Shenanigans ensure. Kara comes home tired after fighting something but she’s still dressed as Supergirl. She’s too tired to realize that someone’s home and someone’s walking down the hall until the doors open calling out for Kara. Kara races around trying to hide her suit while also answering that she’s home.

Brainy’s home by himself when his image inducer goes on the fritz and he has to take that time to fix it. He’s in the living room working on it when either kara or Winn come home but they’re way to tried to see Brainy. Brainy freezes while they squint at him before shrugging and commenting his cosplay as they go to their room.

Winn is on the phone with Supergirl and Querl and he gets the conversations mixed up and he has to quickly cover it up.

And it’s just that until they either accidentally reveals themselves, or they all confess

oh I love all of this

also Winn definitely thinks Kara is a Supergirl cosplayer too before he realizes the truth

May I ask how any couple of hetalians you chose would react to when at a con seeing people cosplay as them?

America: “Hey! It’s me! And me! AND ANOTHER ME!”Alfred would be so excited! He would bounce from cosplayer to cosplayer and take so many selfies with them as he talked to everyone he met. He would be there for hours just talking to people and just being excited at the turnout. Alfred would compliment everyone’s outfit and ask them how to did it all as he would be just floored by the work they all put into it. Over all, he would be a happy mess as he hugs and talks to everyone.

England: “A-Are you…me? Why would you want to be me?”Arthur would be so confused at first as he saw other people dressed as him, though once he caught on to the idea of cosplay, he would be flattered. Of course, he would be flustered and hide behind a little grumpy facade, but it wouldn’t be real. Though if anyone had a cringey accent, it would make him frown a little, but it wouldn’t bother him for long. He would just like talking to people and seeing why they chose him. Warning: too many nice compliments may make him cry, happy tears, but still cry.

France: “Oh~ I love your outfit, mon ami~…Wait! That’s my outfit!”Francis would love the way they looked, even more so when he realized that they were cosplaying as him. He would look them over and judge their outfit before applauding them with a smile as they get an approval from Francis. Not to mention he’d take hundreds of pictures with them.

Canada: “I..I think you pull that off more than I do..”Matthew would smile at them and wave, probably take a few pictures with them and laugh nervously as he looks them over. For a moment, he would question whether they looked better than him or not. After a few moments, he’d come to the conclusion that they all look equally good. Matthew would talk to the cosplayer for a few minutes before going about his way, but feel good knowing that he made their day better.

Prussia: “HEEEEEEEEY!!!! COME HERE!”Gilbert would be so happy to see so many hims! It would make his life! He would be bouncing from cosplayer to cosplayer and laughing loudly as he takes so many selfies with them all. He would love to just see other people being loud and obnoxious, but most of all, having fun! He would be like a puppy as he just enjoys the moment and the attention, I mean after all, can anyone be serious with Gil around?

The Leg Pose™️

My VIP photo from last night’s @blackveilbrides show in Richmond, VA. Still riding the serotonin high, literally couldn’t have asked for a better show. Yet another amazing meet and greet experience and I even managed to be barricade for @dedofficial and Black Veil. I haven’t done that since Warped 2011 and I forgot how much Iove it. As someone with anxiety barricade is intimidating, but I’m so glad I pushed past that last night. It was nothing short of cathartic to sing along to some of my favorite classic BVB songs after 2 years of no live shows. I have missed the feeling of community that comes with their shows so much.

S/o to The National for being so responsible with everyone’s health and for their incredibly nice staff. And to the crowd for being very respectful and chill.

P.S let me just say as a cosplayer one of the best feelings is being told by the person/character creator that you’ve done a good job. ❤️

Next @andyblack cosplay: 2009-2010 WSTW era??? 👀👀👀 hmmmm guess we’ll see if I can pull it off next tour.

These two shows have been the perfect break to get me through the rest of this semester. Now to study for my exam Friday 😂

Malleus is calm about it. He is a crown prince and used to not showing many emotions outwardly.

Malleus wants to explore (Y/N)'s world as much as he can before he goes back to Twisted Wonderland as he didn't have a chance to travel back in Twisted Wonderland. He is confused when (Y/N) tells him to not turn into a dragon at all cost and to tell people that he is a cosplayer.

The Bad Batch Our World AU

Proof read by the wonderful @nahoney22 and @kaijusplotch. They have been wonderful enough to give me feedback on what to improve and edit in my Bad Batch stories. I have never posted any of my stories before, so I greatly appreciate all their feedback and hope many of you will enjoy my stories as much as they have.

This Plot:

This story takes place after The Bad Batch’s chips are removed. During a fight with the Empire, they wind up on Earth. A woman living in a tiny home, within the United State’s Carolinas, takes the Squad and Omega in and does her best to help them. As a former soldier, she’s more than up for the challenge in handling this odd cast of characters and their kid.

Story Notes:

I grew up in the nineties and my first experience with a female soldier was the movie GI JANE. Growing up I learned women weren’t allowed to do certain things in the army. So this story is going to kind of reflect that to add some depth.

The story takes place in the Carolina’s because that is where the Professional Non Profit Star Wars Costuming Group CALLED

GENERAL NOTES:

2. If I make romance scenes, they will be posted separately as a kind of choose your own adventure. They will be just for fun and will in no way impact the main story lines of any of my stories.

Cole (coal) lived in the back of a 14 acre plot of land that led into the local national park. The land had been in her family for generations, an original land grant from back during the Colonial era of the United States. There wasn’t a day of wandering the property that she didn’t find some artifact or old ruin from the people who lived there before her. But now it was her property and she built a small house as far off the beaten path as possible.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like people, she just didn’t like being near the main road.

Which today she was regretting a bit, as she watched the storm outside bend the nearby trees.

The storm outside was much worse than the weather stations had predicted. It did start off like any other storm that rolled into the Carolina’s, but the way it seemed to hug the nearby mountain was odd. It was like the whole storm was being attracted to the area. The crashing thunder and blinding lights were nearly on top of each other, an obvious sign that the storm was right over the area. The only consolation was that it wasn’t anywhere near a hurricane or tropical storm. Though that was a small upside.

THe way the storm raged on had Cole worried. She had already watched two trees in the distance fall from the force of the winds. If it became worse, she’d have to trek out to her car and risk leaving for someplace safer.

“Ah, shit.” she grumbled, looking out her window.

She could see her shed door was wide open.

“Must have forgotten to lock it when the rain started.”

Grabbing her jacket and boots from the closet, she quickly put them on to head out.

It was hard to see through the pouring rain and winds, but somehow she managed to make it to the shed. She stepped inside to see if anything had broken or fell over. By luck everything looked relatively fine, a little damp here and there, but fine. As she walked by one of her work tables, she looked out the window it was in front of. A streak of blue lightning lit up the area and she could have sworn she saw something in the tree line a moment later.

“Was that an animal?” she asked herself, leaning closer to the window. What she saw was very large. Not exactly a bear, but not a deer either. It looked like it was walking upright.

Another bolt and her eyes shot open wide. Stumbling out of the forest was a large person in black bulky coverings. They were moving around like they were in some sort of daze before falling over her concrete bird bath. “The hell?!” she yelled.

Rushing out of the shed, she ran straight for them; worried that they were severely injured from being out in the storm or from falling over the bath.

Cole couldn’t help but stare, when she reached the stranger. They were huge, bodybuilder huge! And he was covered in some kind of armor from what she could tell. There were even scorch marks on the chest piece. “Ugghhh.” “Ah!”

The man groaned as he tried to move.

Cole quickly knelt down to take one of his arms in her hands. She did her best to help him get up, despite the vast size difference between them. “Hang on man. Let’s get you inside.” she told him, as she tried to steer him towards her house. “No..no I gotta find ‘em.” he told her, pulling out of her grasp. “Hey, find who? Are there more of you out here?”

He spun around searching the area. Even with the helmet on, she could tell he was having a hard time focusing. His head would turn this way and that. Legs wobbly like he just got off a coaster. It was surprising he was still able to stand for even a minute.

“We can’t find anyone in this storm right now. Let’s get inside and when it dies down, we can look for them.” “No! I gotta find...the others...Tech...Omega…”

“You can’t help them till you help yourself.”

Grabbing his arm, she didn’t give him a choice this time. She pulled him towards the house, finding it easy to direct him since he didn’t have much balance. Getting him up the stairs, however, didn’t quite work out, since he fell half way up. Oh come on, please don’t pass out until you’re inside.” she begged, pulling on his arm. The man crawled the rest of the way into the house. Collapsing just inside the doorway. “Oh thank god you made it inside.” she breathed in relief. Walking around to his side, she had to get on her knees to use her full weight to roll him onto his back. “God Dang you’re heavy!” she grumbled. She had to take a minute to catch her breath after that. This gave her a chance to really look at the man’s outfit now that there was a steady light.

His armor was black, red and white markings; a high collar as well. The white on the helmet looked like a face with fangs and, tusks, maybe? On his right calf was a very large sheathed knife. Big enough to compare to Crocodile Dundee’s from the looks of it.

“Hm. You kind of look like a storm trooper.” she hummed to herself before shrugging. “Whelp, either way, we need to get this stuff off you.”

Scooching next to his head, Cole carefully began feeling around his helmet for any sort of strap. Normally there wouldn’t be any on this type of costume, but as unique as it was, she wasn’t about to just rip the bucket off his head. When she didn’t feel one, she gave it a gentle tug to see if it would slide off. To her surprise it actually worked. The helmet slipped right off his head. “Oh my god!” she gasped, dropping the helmet.

The man was completely scarred on the left side of his head. His ear was misshapen from whatever caused the damage in the first place. Lines from the initial scar branched out over his bald head and onto his face. A separate scar crossed over his nose.

“Okay. It’s okay.” she calmed herself down from the shock. “Was not expecting that.” Her eyes trailed down to his chest plate. She lightly ran her fingers over the marks. The metal was relatively fine, but the paint had been damaged. It dawned on her that these weren’t for decoration. They were burns in metal, but they weren’t right. They didn’t look like any kind of burns made from a blow torch.

“Buddy, you better be some uber Star Wars nerd and not some secret government task force.”

1. Pants all the zombies and watch em waddle around

sometimes she just really wants to marry some old classy rich dude who is more like her guardian and who’s just sweet and funny, then dies and leaves her everything

and sometimes she wants to run away with a stylish assassin or thief and be a super cool moll

oh also she would have had a little sister but she was born dead and that’s something that has traumatised her till this day

so all in all yes. She has issues™️

“The Week In Tory returns for the second time in 4 days.

The weeks grow shorter, but the days last forever...

1. The consultant who advised the government to look for "alternative arrangements" on the Irish Border is in line for a £200m contract if alternative arrangements go ahead.

But to facilitate this, the government has to break international law with the Internal Market Bill (IMB)

Nobody can tell us what the "alternative arrangements" are, but the IMB passed through parliament anyway.

2. The UK’s highest-ranking law officer in Scotland resigned over the IMB

& The UK’s special envoy on media freedom, Amal Clooney (yes, that one) quit over IMB

3. The former (Tory appointed) ambassador to USA said the IMB was "hugely damaging to our international reputation"

4. Those snowflake liberal Remoaners Toby Young, Peter Hitchens and Tim Montgomerie turned on the govt over IMB. As did every living former-Prime Minister.

5. Joe Biden said there would be no UK/US Trade Deal if the IMB went ahead

But, Iain Duncan Smith said "we don’t need lectures" from Joe Biden

Trump’s special envoy to Northern Ireland also said there would be no Trade Deal

Apparently, Iain Duncan Smith does need lectures. Who knew?

6. Oh, and IMB also includes a provision allowing the government to break absolutely any law, absolutely any time!!!!!

7. Unrelated, I’m sure, but the number of "problem drinkers" in England doubled this year

So the government cut funding to alcohol addiction services

8. Dominic Raab, whose job it is to understand the Good Friday Agreement, admitted he hasn’t read the Good Friday Agreement

His excuse is: "it’s not a novel". True. Novels tend to be longer than 35 pages, aren't vital to solving conflicts that killed 3600 people

9. The Prime Minister, who literally voted to break a deal he signed with the EU, said the EU was "not negotiating in good faith"

The next morning, Northern Ireland minister and arch memo-misser Brandon Lewis went on TV and said "I believe the EU is negotiating in good faith"

10. It was revealed the Smart Freight System to handle post-Brexit trade won’t be ready until at least April 2021.

That’s at least 4 months without a freight handling system, during the time of year we rely on food imports the most

11. The Road Haulage Association said a meeting with Michael Gove to discuss border checks provided "no clarity" and was "a washout"

12. An official report says 2-day queues at Dover in January are "a certainty"

So the government closed a Covid test site in Kent, to convert it into a lorry park, in what experts (well, me) are calling "the world’s shittest game of whack-a-mole"

13. The government said people would be fined £1000 if they don’t self-isolate after getting a positive test

And then all tests ran out in the 10 worst-hit Covid hotspots

And then all home testing kits ran out, nationally

And then the website for booking tests broke, and just showed a series of error messages.

And then the government said the system was under strain because people were asking for tests when they didn’t know they were infected

So [deep breath] you must self-isolate after getting a test that doesn’t exist, and you can only get a test if you already know the result

14. Naturally, honesty no-fly-zone Home Office Secretary Priti Patel went on Radio 4 and announced tests were available everywhere and there were "no problems getting tests"

Same day - same hour, in fact - Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the testing system "has huge problems"

Jacob Rees-Mogg, who simply cannot shut up about fish, said we should stop the "endless carping" about not being tested for a fatal infection

15.Prime Minister Boris Johnson went on national TV and announced a "£100bn moonshot" approach to Covid, which would test "10m people per day"

Three days later, in front of a Parliamentary Committee, said he "didn’t recognise" the figure of 10m a day

And it was reported his half-brother is on the board of the business that would get most of the £100bn budget, which I’m sure is just a massive coincidence

Officials branded the moonshot as "Moonfuck"

16. And then Health Secretary Matt Hancock had to ask other cabinet ministers to stop referring to him as "Matt WankCock"

Despite appearances, these are not 7 year old boys

17. Food news, and Tory MP Douglas Ross said "I have seen the difference free school meals can make, and I want to make sure nobody falls through the cracks"

18. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said we cannot put punitive restrictions on food imports from the EU (to force them to give up on Ireland), or we will starve

And then, minutes later, he agreed with a Brexiter MP who said we SHOULD put punitive restrictions on food imports from the EU

19. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said "I venerate our civil service" after sacking the innocent heads of multiple departments to protect friends including Gavin Williamson and Dominic Cummings. And as a result, people leaving the civil service rose 14% in a year

20. Planning-ahead news: an international conglomerate pulled out of a £16bn power project because the government hasn’t performed its part of the deal for the last 20 months

21. Funding cuts since 2010 meant the government had to inject £700m to prevent further education going bankrupt

22. This week it was found the government– which last week voted not to implement the recommendations of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry – has also failed to deliver its promise to remove the same dangerous cladding from at least 2000 tower blocks. Sleep well.

And then the government said files on Grenfell were "lost forever", after a laptop was wiped. Because everything is always stored on a single laptop. We all know this.

The government runs G-Cloud, its own dedicated cloud backup service, which has been active since 2012. So... yeah.

23. At a committee in parliament, an MP read out the Covid test figures. Dido Harding, in charge of testing, said “I’m sorry, that’s just not true, I don’t know where that number is from”

It was from her own report. Page 8. In bold type.

Dido Harding said "nobody could predict" a rise in demand for testing

Government scientists predicted it, and in a July report sent to Dido Harding – maybe it was a different one? - said "July and Aug must be a period of intense preparation for a September resurgence in Covid"

Oh, and standard advice says the NHS must always prepare for cold and respiratory infections to spike immediately after the return to school in September

Dido Harding wasted £13m on a "world-beating" testing app that cost £12.3m more than the German app, and didn’t work

She is now in charge of the test-and-trace service which has collapsed completely

So naturally, it was reported the government wants to sack the head of NHS England and install Dido Harding instead. Let's make the most of that successful record, eh?

24. In June the government tweeted "grab a drink and raise a glass, pubs are reopening"

The Prime Minister said "it is your patriotic duty to go out and enjoy yourselves"

This week they said the public is responsible, and "people going to the pub fuelled the rise in Covid"

So the government closed pubs at 10pm, because it’s well-known viruses only pop out for last orders.

25. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the government "threw a protective ring around care homes"

A leaked document said care homes are now being asked to accept patients who are known to have Covid

26. Hospitals were banned from launching their own testing regime for staff and patience because… nope, nobody knows why. Just because.

27. There hasn’t been a meeting of COBRA (the government’s committee for national emergencies, headed by the Prime Minister) since 10th May

28. As Covid infections surged, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said restrictions are increasing, and pointed to a chart showing the government has "moved to alert level 3". Level 3 is "a gradual relaxing of restrictions". Not only can't he remember his own alert system, he can't even read it.

29. Despite travel restrictions, it was reported the Prime Minister flew off for a long weekend in Perugia, where his friend the Russian billionaire Evgeny Lebedev lives. He denies it, but the airport has his landing documents. So either he’s lying or... no, that’s the end of that sentence

30. In June the government spent £500m on a GPS satellite system to replace the one we lose due to Brexit

In July it was reported "we bought the wrong satellites"

This week the government cancelled the programme and began asking the EU if we can keep on using their GPS system

31. A cross-party committee of MPs found nurse-Ratched cosplayer Home Office Secretary Priti Patel "bases immigration policies on anecdotes and prejudice"

It found her dept has "no idea" what its annual spending achieves, and referred to "the wreckage that [Patel’s department’s] ignorance caused"

She is one of the favourites to replace Prime Minister Johnson

32. This is because it was reported the Prime Minister is thinking of quitting because he’s worried about his personal finances: the poor man has to "pay tax", "buy his own food" and "support 4 of his 6 children". Oh, the humanity!

33. And Jonathan Aitken – look him up – continues to get privileged access to parliament despite a ban on MPs who have served more than a year in prison. Which he did. And it was hilarious.

34. And finally, because he always needs a guest appearance, Chris Grayling, the man who awarded a ferry contract to a company with no ships, has got a £100k appointment to advise ports”-Russ
