The latest chapter offered so much MC x Cass content 😭😭😭 I'm literally crying, puking, and mentally breakdancing even.

I like how the MBTI difference was showing between them in this scene, Ts and Fs.

I first want to say, I love your fic lists and meta posts so much!

This is probably going to sound so silly. I have been a casual lurker in the x files fandom on Tumblr for a couple of years after i got into the show my last semester of college. I'm now realizing my hyperfixation isn't going away any time soon, and I want to start being more active here in this community. Maybe start posting some of the fic I've written just for fun. Everyone is so creative and talented; I'm a little overwhelmed and I'm not totally sure how to start? Any recommendations for how to start participating a bit more? Thank you 💗

For friendships and connections, I'd start engaging with posts in either tags or comments or-- most importantly-- asks. People want to be included in thoughts or conversations here (or just to chat); and that's how I became mutuals with a bunch of people.

I highly recommend @baronessblixen for any and all asks (and beautiful short fics)-- she loves new fans, and is highly receptive to conversations (she also encouraged me to move from anon to Tumblr user)-- and @deathsbestgirl for any and all meta-- she constantly engages with tags and comments (and we love to go back and forth with ideas, etc.) @x-files-scripts and @dunhamhairograpy post scripts from the original show; @scullysflannel, @myassbrokethefall, @iconicscullyoutfits, @perplexistan, @pennyserenade, and deathsbestgirl write incredible meta; @amplifyme, @aloysiavirgata, @suitablyaggrieved, @slippinmickeys, @cecilysass, @storybycorey, @settle-down-frohike, @leiascully, @writingwell, @sigritandtheelves, @jessahmewren, @dreamingofscully and @sixhours are long-time writers that are still active(ish) in the fandom; @mondfuchs, @opentheskies, @tennant-the-tigger post art; @mappingthexfiles, @trusttnno1, and @samanthamulder create edits or gifs; @carrie11 and @thatfragilecapricorn30 post nature photography; and @dd-is-my-guiltypleasure and @whovianderson keep up with David and Gillian respectively (btw, the actors' relationships are probably the most divided issue in this fandom-- I vote "not a big deal", personally.)

I can't recommend all the current writers I keep up with (wordspace), but I reblog them here or from my archives on the @x-files-fics second account I opened. I participated in an event last year with @welsharcher, @agent-troi, baronessblixen, and @numinousmysteries which can be found under the @eightnightsofmulder blog~. Authors I wish would come back to Tumblr are endless but @wtfmulder, @melforbes, @enigmaticdrblockhead, @onpaperfirst are on the list.

Like any fandom, there are divided lines between groups; but most people don't play those games and reblog from whomever they want (unless actively blocked.)

i’m an enfp 4w3 and i’m currently a sciences student at school! deep down my passion is in voice acting, but i can’t pursue it for the time being because of my studies piling up xd

still, i have big dreams of landing character roles that people can relate to and potentially singing, voicing commercials or audiobooks!

in a perfect world, my dream future would be to devote the rest of my life to creating art that’s from my heart and that will move others!

i’m in a leadership role at school because i like to be of service to others in the greatest way possible. i didn’t get enough votes to be president, but i was voted to be secretary, so i take note of everyone’s ideas and also our final decisions at meetings!

i prefer to compile people’s ideas and try to make them all come true in some way than to lead people towards a singular cause. in that respect, i don’t always enjoy leading people or competition.

im also super into psychology and typology (mbti, enneagram) and can usually tell who’s what personality type after getting to know them a little~

while i’m ambiverted, i’m definitely a little more extroverted than introverted (the latter probably stems from fluctuating confidence). but anyways, i have a couple friends — and i get along best with the people who are intuitive types (mbti with the N).

i’m pretty distracted at times. i don’t always remember or hear things people say, which i’m hoping to improve on. in general, i like finding improvements to myself!

as for looove,, i’m pretty dreamy and romantic, but i’m not actively searching for love just yet. there’s so many things i wanna do with my life before truly settling down, but i won’t refuse getting to know “the one” if i meet them along the way.

my type is someone introverted/ambiverted. i’d really like a partner who has a different side to them when we’re alone~ — like shy guys in public who are dominant in private (*blushes*), or charismatic guys in public who need cuddles and a safe space in private. (i don’t mind it if they don’t fit this criteria! i’ll do all i can to give my partner a safe space regardless ^^)

Before you deride anyone for being an "idiot", you should probably shit can the Meyers-Briggs pseudo-science in your description. You know, that way you don't look like an idiot who buys into that stuff.

Naaah, I still think that accusing a very anti-nationalist creator that created a very anti-nationalist movie FOR nationalism just because his movie used trademark brilliant Japanese nonverbal display instead of spelling stuff out like poorly written modern Western media IS pretty "idiotic". Waaaay more "idiotic" than MBTI stuff. 🌛 (retroactive, because I already did take my insult back several days ago)

I'll have you know that whereas MBTI is definitely not as binding and fails in what it tries to do (just like every attempt to strictly categorize people failed), it is actually SUPER handy to communicate a LOT of traits and patterns within a short abbreviation instead of a long essay! For example, people that know MBTI lore will read that I am ENTP and instantly expect me to be a lover of debates and "devil's advocate", be bad at talking about my feelings genuinely and sound hurtful without any intention to do so! If person chose to describe themselves with an MBTI label, it doesn't necessarily mean they are the type to take it super seriously, but often it is a way to communicate what to expect from their personality in a really compact form! Or at least what this person believes about themselves, which is also good for "communicating without communicating" :p Most people that have MBTI in their bio/pinned/whatever aren't as serious about it. Those that tried to choose friends/couple and form a collective according to MBTIs are long ago extinct, trust me!

I also found MBTI useful for some writing stuff. To define a type, you have to make 4 choices between 4 pairs of traits: 1) Introvert or Extrovert; self-explanatory 2) Sensory or iNtuitive; so, oriented more in "physical" reality and present or into past, thoughts and concepts 3) Thinking or Feeling; so, stronger at logic and thinking, or at empathy and tact? 4) Perceptive or Judging; so, an open-minded person that is okay with leaving loose ends or a person that needs clear distinction and final conclusion! Yeah they are very bare-bones descriptions and there is more to say about the 8 'letters', I am just cutting to the chase! I never passed MBTI test, I just figured which one of these aspects applied to me and it made ENTP abbreviation! Then I read the description of this type and could recognize a lot about myself. You can for example do that for a character you want to develop, get the abbreviation, then go read full description of this type and I guarantee you, there will be MANY things in the text making you go "damn this makes sooooo much sense for this character 👀" or otherwise inspire a vision of them!

I agree that people that get too caught up into MBTI stuff can be frustrating, and that accuracy of MBTIs is long ago debunked; again, no way to split humans into clear cut types works and we are all too different! Zodiac signs stuff is a similar problem. But, these things are good for communicating aspects of your personality quickly, for finding which sides of yourself to focus on and get "coherent shape" (very useful for my personality disorder ass!) and are good for WRITING! I've even found using MBTI descriptions as a help a good preventive measure from too much self-protection onto characters I am writing! You know same face syndrome issue in drawing? Sometimes the same problem is possible in writing personalities, MBTI is something that helped me to double-check whether I am doing this. Don't harshly discard a thing just because you haven't found an efficient way to utilize it! MBTI failed at what it intended to do but succeeded at being a good compilation of distinct traits and ways to think, act and react!

On the other hand, believing in anti-scientifical things is not necessarily a sign of being a judgemental, narrow-minded, "idiotic" person: a person is only an "idiot" when they make themselves be.

That being said, I don't blame you for being strictly negative? MBTI craze, Zodiacs stuff and similar things have history of really annoying people wasting their time and being weird about what they tell others but that's not my case. In my country MBTIs are in general 90% fandom of memes xd I might consider removing ENTP from my bio in the future if I estimate people are more likely to expect the worst (like you did) than take it for fun after that """science""" has fallen but I just dunno yet. But I'd appreciate if you didn't use harping on me for a mistake I already apologized for to express your disapproval of MBTI stuff 🌛 Not only it is cruel, but also even UNDER assumption that liking MBTI stuff makes me an "idiot" your logic doesn't work - why would doing one stupid thing remove my right to call out another, irrelevant (!!!) stupid thing? heyy sorry this took me so long to answer, i was just not feeling well for some reason.

but yeah, i'm an intp. specifically an intp-t which means i'm more insecure than other intps. still find it funny that that's a type you can get. i don't know a ton about the community honestly. i just watch compilations of like mbti tiktoks and i got a pinterest board for intp stuff and that's pretty much it. but i'd loved to know more so if you want to rant to me about it, go for it :) /gen. the whole idea of it is really interesting to me. also, explain enneagrams if possible bc i still don't understand them. i'm gonna be honest, my day was really shit. and the next week is probably gonna be the same. we'll live though. how was your day? did you survive your exams? (i know that's from a while ago, sorry.)

I think Sukuna is mostly typed ENTJ 8w7 which suits him I guess, but Megumi is a bit unclear

Anooooooooon. You, my anonymous friend, just settled the war on Sukuna's aura with your ask.

I'll be honest, the MBTI isn't something I've paid much attention to despite having a Jungian orientation. We can blame one of my grad school professors, Dr. H for it. So I had to go in and read through the personality types and educate myself about it on a surface level, etc.

And like... I very much agree with you about Sukuna!

What I particularly loved about the Commander personality type (ENTJ) is that they literally inspire respect from others due to their authoritative and charismatic presence. You know... AURA...

Aside from that is the obvious love of the challenge in pursuit of their goals, their domineering and relentless attitude, their ruthlessness, and their lack of sentimentality for those they view as not trying hard enough.

Another favorite was how they can recognize talent in others and how they tend to respect people who they see as their equals...

Anyways... before all that, out of all of the things Gege gets accused of...

The possibility that he created characters based on an MBTI personality type checklist is defo something I can stand behind. It's uncanny how easy it is to say "yes" to all of the details below.

Here's a checklist I compiled about the Commander personality type in case anyone else is not familiar with the MBTI either. You can also read more about it here.

Sukuna, ENTJA: The Commander Personality

People with this personality type are intuitive leaders who command respect from others with their charismatic and authoritative presence.

They have unwavering self-confidence that attracts others to their vision.

They strive for greatness in everything they do and this helps them believe their efforts will result in success.

They recognize talent in others and value and respect anyone who can think and act with the same level of precision as they do.

They appear to be emotionally distant and see displays of emotion as weakness.

They are characterized by their cold rationality and decisiveness in their actions.

This cold rationality manifests in their ability to use their sharp mind to achieve their goals.

They think strategically as a means of focusing on achieving long-term goals.

They are relentless and domineering in the pursuit of their objectives.

They love the challenge and process of accomplishing what they set out to do.

Also, it's important to note the subtype I feel like, because whether someone is an "assertive" or "turbulent" type comes back to how these characteristics manifest.

i.e. When the Commander personality is of the assertive type, they have a greater ability to respond to stressful situations with ease as they have greater mastery of their state of mind and don’t let negative experiences affect their self-esteem.

Megumi, INTJ-T: The Architect Personality

I think for Megumi there were other types that felt like they might fit but I ended up settling for Architect. While Megumi is not necessarily textbook-architect the way Sukuna checks off the Commander boxes, I still think it's pretty close.

Thoughts?

This personality type is highly independent and thought of as a lone-wolf type.

Despite their stoic exterior, this personality type feels deeply and is true to their humanity.

As a result, they can see through other’s disingenuousness.

They have a complex inner world that they rarely share with others.

They are single-minded in the pursuit of their goals.

Naturally skeptical, this personality type likes to question everything to arrive at their own conclusions.

They have active minds that are always analyzing the world around them.

They are highly strategic and tend to evaluate their decisions and actions based on their pros and cons.

They believe that they can be successful if they apply imagination to their insights and logical assessment of situations.

They enjoy teaching themselves and mastering topics that they are interested in.

As for Megumi's subtype, unlike Sukuna, I feel like Megumi is a turbulent type because turbulent types are fueled by their worries and concerns and prefer stability.

The Enneagram types

For this, I spent less time looking into the types. I had recently heard of this personality test's existence so I was curious about it but the archetypes that rule the personality types feel more generalized.

Similarly, I did feel like Sukuna is a challenger type too (the challenger is powerful, confident in themselves, and values being able to make their own choices. They like to be in control and make decisions accordingly).

For Megumi I felt like he could be either an individualist or an investigator...

Individualist: The individualist is sensitive and quiet on the outside but always thinking of something. They are all about being creative and expressing who they are in big ways.

Investigator: The investigator is curious and observant, and enjoys learning new things. They come up with new and unique ideas and enjoy being alone.

On second thought I'm leaning more towards Megumi being an investigator.
