Writeblrs who play tag games: How do you interact with the writeblrs/posts that you tagged/invited?
Twin poll: How do you interact with posts/writing that tagged YOU?
I’m asking specifically about writer tag games—Last Line, Heads Up Seven Up, OC in Fifteen, etc.
Assumptions of this poll:
#1: They tagged you in their post (“I was tagged by...”). You saw the notification and are aware that the person 'took' your tag to participate in the game.
#2: “Reblogs” include instant and queued reblogs.
#3: For the purposes of this poll, organizational tags like #other WIPs or #your writing count as the ‘no tags’ option even though they are, in fact, tags. (If it’s only those, not accompanied by comments on what the person wrote.)
Thanks for helping to sate my curiosity!

I just had to write a three sentence email and for some reason it took more effort and thinking to do then any of my writing for the last week.

Five things I like about writing
Thank you @kaylinalexanderbooks for the tag!
Rules: Title says it all 💜
I love to follow in the footsteps of my favorite authors. I've read so many good books in my life. I admire how authors put a lot of hard work and effort into the writing. I love how their stories impacted me. I want to do the same.
I love making my quirky ideas come to life. My mind is constantly brewing ideas. What if this? What if that? How about this? How about that? My mind is storming with so many ideas, I need to get them down. I love seeing those ideas on paper.
I love expressing emotions and pain. I've gone through a lot of pain in my life. My characters go through painful experiences as I did. I like to get deep into their emotions. It helps me heal and persevere.
I like to come up with imaginative settings. I've created worlds after thinking, "I've seen some cool worlds in other fantasy and sci-fi, but I haven't seen this yet." I create places that I would love to visit. I often create places I wish were real. Even when writing in our contemporary world, I like to find ways to use the setting. I like to imagine amazing events happening in ordinary places. The setting is like a character.
I like doing a project that's worth doing. Even if I write 300,000 words of trash, it's still worth it. I've made something. I've accomplished something. I'm a creator holding my creation. I am spending my time on something that requires a lot of brains, perspiration, and determination. I am keeping the craft of writing alive in our generation. I inspire myself. I hope to inspire others.
Tagging (No Pressure): @selenekallanwriter @americanfemcel @melpomene-grey @talesofsorrowandofruin @faeriecinna @tildeathiwillwrite @ad-wills and anyone who wants to join!

Find the Word Tag
Tumblr media
@winterandwords tagged me to search my WIP for bright, light, glow, and shine. Thank you! These are from Blackwater. The last one is new.
— Bright —
The sun was shining brighter than it had any right to. It warned the grasses not yet parched of the scorching summer ahead. As if the memory of its heat wasn’t burned into every speck of soil throughout the prairies.
— Light —
First light had come but it couldn’t compare to how bright and vibrant his eyes were under the neon blue. Gray tendrils seeped up as Arthur trailed down, kissing his fingers, his palm, then his wrist. The cigarette fell away.
— Glow —
Out of the corner of his eye, Blackwater almost passed for pretty with its lonely streets and countless buildings gilded by a hazy golden glow. Too bad the lights marred the night sky.
— Shine —
The sun peeked through, shining sporadic spotlights on Arthur as he jumped from one roof to another. His eyes kept straying to the streets below in search of John.
Tagging @asablehart, @sentanixiv, @words-after-midnight and @maddstermind. Your words are dark, memory, love, and dream.

got thoughtful about opinions on bad books so here’s an inverse: what’s a book you had to read for school that you actually enjoyed/have grown to like? mine is Lord of the Flies

me, after clearing my schedule to write:
uhhhh it was raining... and dark (and also night) and um... cold i guess?? anyway, something dramatic~ happened
me, stuck in traffic on my way to work:
Rain tumbled through midnight leaves, casting the forest in liquid moonlight. A low growl shook the horizon. Death had come.

The thing about writing is that either it is the most peaceful and satisfying activity ever, or you're wandering about your house at 2:30am with your laptop on 3% battery, 25+ tabs open, a cursor blinking away taunting your inaptitude as you try to remember what doorknobs are called. Or you're lying in a pit of darkness not writing at all.

Insults (Fantasy Edition)
They're as useful as a wet blanket in the middle of winter
I could talk to my horse and have a better conversation
She did love her family, but she'd rather have an ocean between her and them.
He was the kind of man to stumble across rational thought quite by accident and dismiss it as absurd
'Quite frankly, I'd rather eat Hemlock.'
I know the gods do not exist, because if they did, they would've struck you down by now.
Well, you're clearly got some troll ancestry.
That's probably the wisest thing you've ever said and yet still you are wrong.
Do you just sit there all day and hope some sort of sentient through floats in your direction
She was tolerable. From a distance.
They were often wrong but never in doubt.

Writeblrs who play tag games: How do you interact with the writeblr/post that tagged you?
Twin poll: How do you interact with posts/writing that result from YOU tagging others?
I’m asking specifically about writer tag games—Last Line, Heads Up Seven Up, OC in Fifteen, etc.
Assumptions of this poll:
#1: You saw the tag and you DO want to play/participate/pass it on.
#2: You DO tag the person in your post (“I was tagged by @/so-and-so…”)
#3: “Reblogs” include instant and queued reblogs.
#4: For the purposes of this poll, organizational tags like #other WIPs or #your writing count as the ‘no tags’ option even though they are, in fact, tags. (If it’s only those, not accompanied by comments on what the person wrote.)
An 'Other/Explain' example might be: You reblog their post, adding your participation to create a reblog chain. Some folks acknowledge the writing of their tagger in comments or tags; some do not.
Thanks for helping to sate my curiosity!

I'm not sure I can express this sentiment strongly enough, but I'm going to try via the medium of large bolded text.
Write what the fuck you want.
Write what makes you happy. Write what makes your soul sing. Write what fucks you up and makes you cry. Write what comforts you. Write what distracts you. Write what you want to read. Write what you want to watch.
Write what you want to dream about tonight.
Write what you can't get enough of. Write what you're completely obsessed with. Write what wakes you up at 4am and drags you out of bed because you can't stop thinking about what your characters are going to do next.
Write what turns you on, if that's your vibe. Write characters you're in love with and characters who inspire you and characters you want to be friends with and characters you fucking hate but oh my god they're so much fun.
Write about things you would sell your soul to do in real life and things you would never do in real life. Write about things that are happening right now and things that happened a thousand years ago and things that might happen in the future and things you wish could happen.
Write to get a publishing deal or to sell your books yourself or not to sell your books at all. Write for your friends or for strangers or for the people who reblog your posts on Tumblr and send you songs that remind them of your characters.
Write for yourself.
Fuck any system that tells you there's only one right way to create or one valid way to share your writing. Your story, the way you tell it, has so much value. Make people smile or piss people off or do both of those things because art is divisive and fascinating and beautiful.
Start writing. Keep writing. And write what the fuck you want.
