“Umm sweetie, I’d love to play volleyball with you but umm, can you even play in your condition?” He questioned, ripping off his shirt and preparing to head to the beach.

You giggled, “well actually I was thinking more like you play volleyball and I lay on the beach. How does that sound?”

Hinata smiled before kissing your forehead and grabbing your hand, practically dragging you the beach.

“YN what the hell are you doing??” Kageyama shouted, quickly running to grab the ladder that held a very pregnant you on it.

“Tobio what is wrong with you? I’m just changing a lightbulb. It’s not like there’s a fire, calm down!” You scolded, climbing carefully down the ladder as Kageyama tried desperately not to get angry.

“I told you I would change it tonight Yn, why couldn’t you just wait?” He asked calmly as you glared at him.

“Well for your information, I was trying to be a good spouse and help you out. I figured you’d be tired and I didn’t think you’d freak out because I used a ladder one stinking time Tobio!”

Kageyama sighed. He knew you were only trying to help but how could he get it through your mind that he only wanted you to be safe and not get hurt.

“I appreciate it Yn but please wait for me next time ok? You’re really pregnant right now and the last thing I want is for your or our baby to get hurt ok?”

You nodded, admitting the stubborn man in front of you was correct.

“Ok fine but I still get to climb the ladder and you hold it!”

Kageyama laughed, “deal!”

Hoshiumi

“Mmm something smells amazing babe!” Hoshiumi declared as he walked into the kitchen, noticing pots and pans askew aa you hurried around cooking.

“Hey love! Just thought I’d make something special for the most amazing husband and father to be ever,” you grinned as Hoshiumi smiled, kissing your cheek and rubbing your pregnant belly.

As he sat down to eat he realized that this wasn’t an ordinary meal, nope. This meal contained his favorite plum flavored snack crackers. He stared at the crackers and back to you, his eyes now narrowing.

“Ok what did ya do?” Hoshiumi asked as you stood there, a fake look of stunned offense in your face as you ignored your husbands questions.

“What do you mean? Can’t I make a meal for my favorite husband ever?” You questioned as Hoshiumi remained skeptical.

“Well I guess, it’s just that the last time you did this, you told me you were pregnant so obviously I’m a bit nervous Yn.”

You waved your husband off, “well I can’t possibly be pregnant again if I’m already pregnant can I?”

“I guess not,” Hoshiumi responded, resigning himself to finally enjoying the food you’d prepared.

“I mean it’s not like I bought a super expensive baby stroller that you told me I shouldn’t buy but I ignored you anyways,” you smiled as Hoshiumi glared at you, food halfway to his mouth.

“See I knew you couldn’t be trusted!”

USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI — he never cries. you met this guy when the two of you were young freshman in high-school, and you quickly became a good friend of his. that being said, you never saw him cry. even when the two of you began dating in your senior year, you still never did. years passed, and it was the same as the previous years. sure, he occasionally got upset, but even then, he still put on a stoic display, never really letting you in on that side of him. even at your wedding, he sure showed some emotion but he didn't cry. then came the birth of your first child.

"she's so cute, isn't she 'toshi..?" you said weakly, forehead still damp with sweat, bodu trembling with the aftershocks of your hard, long labor. your eyes fluttered open, focusing on the sight of your dear wakatoshi holding your newborn baby.

your heart fluttered at the soft image of your husband holding the tiny baby closely again his chest, his forehead mere inches away from the baby's forehead. it was barely there, barely noticeable. if it weren't for the reflection of light, then you wouldn't have been able to see the way his eyes were glazed over, corners red, tears brimming at the borderlines of his eyes.

with a grunt, he sniffled lightly, trying to mask his emotions. "yeah.."

IWAIZUMI HAJIME — he hates crying. but being the responsible and knowing person he is, he knows that crying is inevitable. but the "strong", reliable guy in him wants to punch himself every-time he feels his eyes sting at the feel of salty tears brimming at his waterline. unbeknownst to you, he would avoid you every-time he felt like he was going to cry, usually hiding in the locked confides of the bathroom. he thought he was hiding it well, until one fateful day where it all came crashing down..

"haji?" you said on the other side of the door. he immediately shot up, his eyes darting to the doorknob. he always made sure to lock it, but today, he was just so exhausted and down that the idea of a lock was forgotten. crap, "hey wait-," before he could even rise up from his slouched kneeling position on the bathtub's side, you opened the door unknowingly. "i just need my–hajime?"

there he was, in all of his fucking glory, hunched over, his face long and clearly expressing his hurt feelings. his heart fell to his stomach, his vision going cloudy as his day just kept getting worse. "hajime?" you called out once more, only your tone had softened, more light and tender. you reached a hand out to him, eyes full of concern. he couldn't help but jolt away from your hand, eyebrows furrowing at your softness.

he didn't like your tone. why are you looking at him like that? like some sad kicked puppy lost in the middle of nowhere? it made him feel so small, so weak. "haji.. are you okay?" you whispered, crouching down to his level outside of the bathtub. you attempted yet again to touch the side of his face, lightly pressing your fingertips against his cheekbone before fully pressing your palm against the side of his face.

his lips trembled as he was just a second away from breaking down, his eyes locked on a single object as to hold on to the last of his will. you sighed softly at his resistance, of course he wouldn't want to cry in front of you, but you don't understand why, afterall, what makes a person weak for crying? "it's okay, hajime."

with that, fat tears finally ran down his cheeks, his eyes shutting close as he finally broke at your words. he could only grab onto your hand as you climbed into the tub, his head going straight into your chest as he sobbed and wailed.

MIYA ATSUMU — surprisingly, you've seen this guy cry many of times before. he cried when getting accepted into nationals, winning nationals, just crying at things any normal person would do. but he never cried for you. no, he held himself to higher standards. he'd never cry for someone, not even for you. yeah, he loved you, but he wasn't about to cry for someone like a little child. all high and mighty, he never thought you would actually have an affect on him like you do now. him being someone who wears his heart proudly on his sleeve, he found himself getting into an argument late at night with you, too prideful to back down.

"are you serious atsumu?! you know i'd never do that!" you yelled, voice hoarse and scratchy due to the ongoing screaming match between you and your boyfriend. "oh really?! then why were ya' 'll over that fucker earlier? huh?!" he yelled back, pointing out the way you were seemingly flirting with a guy at the club earlier.

but you weren't? you would never do that, you're not a scum. "what?! we were just talking?! am i not allowed to TALK to people atsumu?" you scoffed, arms crossing defensively. "if you wanna consider talking as flirting, then let's talk about that girl you were laughing with the other day? huh? let's talk about that!"

his eyebrow raised at your counter, fumbling nervously as he wondered what to say. "w-wh- you know what?! fuck you! i don't know why i'm even dating a bitch like you!" he said, almost immediately regretting his words when he saw the way your eye's widened at his harsh words. the apartment was finally silent as you registered his words, he wishes you had any sort of expression on your face, but you had nothing but a stoic and emotionless face.

"okay then," you finally said, arching your eyebrow in a taunting way, resting your hand down on your hip. "bye." you followed, grabbing your bag and your keys, turning your back on him.

he watched, frozen in his spot as you exited out the apartment with your composure. his body jolted when he heard the slam of the front door, finally letting out that breath he was unknowingly holding. he scoffed at what you said, clenching his jaw tightly as he tried to hold onto his pride. "damn it." he said.

he felt the tear roll down his cheek before he could even register that he was crying. "..damn it!"

KAGEYAMA TOBIO — to him, life is volleyball. his childhood consisted nothing of volleyball, and so will his adulthood. maybe his obsession with volleyball was a little extreme, but you never really minded. he respected you greatly for your patience, he wasn't dumb, he knew that his priority of volleyball was evident, so he always tried to make it up to you by spending time with you whenever you wanted. but it seemed like after awhile, he began to take your patience for granted. it wasn't until the nth time when he didn't show up for the nth date was when he realized.

kageyama was careful to shut the front door as quiet as he could, tiptoeing as he took off his shoes and walked throughout the dark hallways and into the master-bedroom. he jolted like a cat when he sat you sitting up on the side of the bed, back facing the doorway.

"y-you scared me. what are you doing up at this time? it's nearly 10PM." he stuttered obliviously. it was silent for a few seconds before you sighed, slowly turning your head to face him. "you forgot." you muttered before turning back to look at the wall. forgot? forgot what? it was then he noticed the way your hair was done, still clad in a pretty dress.

"o-oh.. the date! i-i'm sorry y/n, i promise i can make it up to you"— "don't bother." you interrupted, voice stern yet monotonous. what do you mean 'don't bother?' you love going on dates don't you? his lips pursed into a straight line, chewing on his bottom lips nervously. "w-what do you mean? i really promise, this thursday i have a free day.." he trailed off when you suddenly stood up from the bed.

"i mean that i think we should break up." his heart dropped at your words, eyes widening. break up? his mouth was agape, mind spinning with different solutions and apologies. before he could detest, you walked over to the corner of the room, pulling up a suitcase that he didn't even notice.

"b-but why? you said yourself that me and you are meant to be together?" he cried out, quickly rushing over to your side and grabbing onto your wrist. he watched your face closely, eyes taking note of every single feature of yours. you inhaled deeply, still refusing to look at him.

"i said that when we were in high-school and didn't have any major responsibilities. things have changed, we aren't in high-school any more. you're now a pro-volleyball player with big responsibilities, and i'm.. someone who clearly has too much time on their hands, wasting it on someone who can't give me any of theirs. it's not your fault, kageyama, but we just don't align anymore."

you finally said, tugging your hand away from his grasp. before you could take a step, his hands were once again on you, gripped onto your shoulders, forcing you to look at him. "but.. you said you would be there for my game at nationals.." he whimpered out, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

it was then, when you were finally walking out of his apartment, out of his life, was when he finally did realize, that maybe, he did take your patience for granted..

BOKUTO KOUTARO — this guy cries a lot. he's cried so many times you might have to start writing it down somewhere. he rarely masks his emotions, he's an open book. thats what you love so much about him, that he's so open and honest. you love the way he's so eager and sweet, you love the way he's always willing to talk to you and so damn clingy it's like you have your own personal koala. aside from the times he's happy, he's sad, sad because he didn't perform well, or because you didn't kiss him. but you never really made him cry, you'd never do that. or so you thought.

"y/n!! i missed you!" you hear a booming voice yell, his footsteps speeding up at the sight you. he paid no mind when you didn't respond to him, as you were currently hunched over the your work desk, laptop gleaming at you brightly. your back was turned to him, so you were basically calling him for a back hug.

"y/n!" — "not now koutaro." you interrupted, tone serious and stern. he raised his eyebrows at you with surprise, his arms a few inches away from your shoulders as they stilled in their preparation to hug you. "babe? is something wrong?" he asked curiously, lips pouting at your stern denial. you never decline a hug. you love them. right?

"i'm working. can't you see that?" you spit out, sighing deeply. you pull away your cramping fingers away from your keyboard, rubbing them over your sore eyes. "my gosh." you mumble under your breath, eyebrows intensely furrowed with stress. you had been working for a few hours straight, staring at nothing but a bright screen with words that were becoming incoherent to you.

you yelp out when you're suddenly pulled from your chair, being lifted up into bokuto's strong arms as he spins you around. "don't be so sad!" he says cheerfully, hoping to cheer you up with a big warm hug. only— this seems to make you mad. "put me down, koutaro!" you yell, pushing his chest away and forcing him to practically drop you.

"don't you see i'm working?! why are you so damn clingy? you're so annoying, god, why don't you just leave me alone?" you spit out. your words are like venom, stinging his heart greatly as his hair is quickly deflating once your words reach his ears. you simply return to your laptop once you've finished, typing mindlessly once more.

him? annoying? he didn't mean to annoy you..

he couldn't help but softly whimper, left standing in shock. he opened his mouth to say something before your previous words were reminding him to stay silent—leave me alone. he clutched his palms, looking at your turned back with teary eyes. he hopes you don't find him annoying for long..

When Tobio found out you were pregnant, he was scared he’ll be honest, he thought he was going to be a bad dad. But never once did he think of leaving you, he just generally tried to avoid talking about the baby.

And Tobio took his advice to heart. He was right to, when you’d placed your little girl on his chest and he’d watched he big blue eyes stare up into his matching ones it did feel like they’d been old friends lost with time.

Truly you knew Tobio was nervous, but no matter the times you’d try and tell him he’d do ok and that you were nervous to he couldn’t seem to listen properly, but you’re glad that he could listen to someone.

"so how's your little girl Kei-kun" Shoyo said making me look at Kei

"she's good, she can walk now actually" Kei said smiling to himself

"ahh I can't wait for our baby to come out" Shoyo said

"do you know the gender already?" Kei asked

"no, my wife wants it to be surprise" Shoyo said happily

"what about you Tobio? planning on having one?" Kei asked looking at me

I take a deep breath before answering "we're actually trying for almost 4 years now"

"so... Any progress?" Kei asked

"we actually kinda gave up a few months ago, but these weeks I've noticed that she's been having pregnancy symptoms but I didn't tell her that I noticed, because knowing her I'm sure she wants to surprise me if ever she finds out she is, I'm so happy, that is when last week I found a negative result pregnancy test in the trash bin" I told them as they look at me sadly

"c'mon Tobio-kun I'm sure you'll become a dad soon, just don't give up" Shoyo said cheering me up

We are talking about our life now and our life before we met our love ones laughing at our behavior before and the embarrassing things we do in highschool, that is before 3 girls sit on our lap grinding at us as we push them off of us

The girl on Kei's lap seems to be gone but the girls in my and shoyo's lap isn't moving as we keep trying to push them off making it look like we are grinding our members at the girls

"ahhhh!!" we hear a scream and I look to see (Y/N) holding her lower abdomen and looking like she's in pain, I push the girl in my lap hard as I run towards my wife and hold her by the side of her shoulder

I look down to see blood running down her thighs as she pass out making my heart clench already knowing what's going on

I pick her up and place her on the back passenger seat of the car and I drove off to the hospital

When we arrive at the hospital nurses quickly place her on the bed moving her in the E.R (emergency room) and telling me to stay outside the room where a line of chairs are in front

I bounce my knees, my hands grabbing my hairs praying for my wife to be ok

After a few minutes Kei and Shoyo arrived at the hospital sitting beside me, Shoyo comforting me by running his hands up and down my back

"you guys should go it's 3 am your wives are probably worried" I said looking at the floor

"call us if you need anything" Kei said as I nod at him

"don't worry Tobio-kun she'll be alright" Shoyo said and all I can do is smile at them as both of them goes home

A couple of minutes later a doctor came out of the room and I stand up

"she has a minor spotting, right now she's ok, but I don't think she'll be ok if she keeps taking medications and she has a sensitive pregnancy so as much as possible do not let her feel any kind of physical, mental, and emotional stress, I need to go now, if there's anything you need to ask I'm at room 241" he leave

I enter the room to see her asleep, I came beside here and kiss her hand softly

"I love you so much, I love you and our unborn child, I'm sorry for what happened, I can't live without you, I will protect you more especially now that you're pregnant"

You once thought that the perfect wedding only existed in fairytales.

Just the idea of two lovers exchanging vows, committing themselves as one, and starting a life together were too good to be true. Being a bride next to her groom or a groom next to his bride must be such a good feeling. But to you, it seemed so out of reach. Something not a lot of people would have.

However, you loved weddings. You loved being a spectator to someone else’s love story. You were like a reader of a romantic novel who was on the last chapter of the book where you either cry or smile to your heart’s content.

It was even better when your bestfriend was the one getting married and you couldn’t stop yourself from feeling a tad bit emotional.

“You look ethereal, Jina,” you complimented, fixing her hair as she looked into the mirror. She was the prettiest bride you’ve ever seen in your life.

Doing your Maid of Honor duties was supposed to be hectic, but your best friend had specifically divided the tasks among her bridesmaids because you were pregnant and she didn’t want to stress you out.

Even at that, you were still trying to do your best to stick to your appointed role.

She squeezed your hand. “You’ll be more beautiful on your own wedding.”

She would never expect that such a wedding wouldn’t really happen to you, but today was all about her. Today was all about her beautiful relationship with Iwaizumi and nothing else.

“Is Kags here yet?” she asked and you felt your heart drop to your stomach at the mere mention of his name.

You didn’t want to think of him anymore.

You casually shook your head. “Game just ended but he’s probably on the way.”

“Good.” She grinned, unknown to your current thoughts. “He should see how gorgeous you are in that dress.”

You had no idea how you managed to fit into a beautiful lilac dress that Jina specifically picked for you, however you did feel beautiful today even though you weren’t the one getting married.

At least, for once, you felt pleased with how you looked.

“I bet Iwaizumi’s gonna tear up once he sees you walk on the aisle,” you teased, already imagining how the said guy would be so emotional. Jina was his very reason to smile and cry. She was his everything.

“Please,” she snorted. “He’s gonna catch these hands if he takes the spotlight away from me.”

Classic weddings happened in churches, but a garden wedding might be your personal favorite.

The smell of fresh flowers, the sound of the orchestra from the distance, and the picture-perfect landscape—all of it made you feel like you were physically in heaven, no matter how cheesy that sounded. This was such a dream wedding and you were amazed at how they managed to set up all of this in just two months.

“The most handsome Best Man has arrived.” Oikawa appeared beside you as you lined up amongst the other guest who were all preparing to walk on the aisle.

You beamed at him. “Hate to say this but you do look handsome.”

“More handsome than Tobio-chan?” he egged on.

You pretended to think. “Hmm... That’s a tough question but I’m gonna have to say no.”

“Lying is a sin,” he scoffed, squeezing your nose. “But on a serious note, I like it when you’re smiling like this. The last time was—”

“It’s fine,” you interrupted, not wanting to talk about it.

He was referring to that night after the fashion show where you barged into his apartment crying for no reason. Of course you had a reason, but you didn’t tell him.

He didn’t have to know. You simply needed his presence as your comfort. Even if he tried to ask you so many times about what happened, you didn’t speak a word and merely released all the pent-up emotion you felt through your tears.

You worried that Oikawa wasn’t going to take it lightly if it involved Tobio making you cry like that.

“How’s Iwa?” you asked, changing the topic.

His best man let out an evil chuckle. “He’s nervous. You should’ve seen the look on his face.”

It was only natural for anyone to be anxious on their wedding day. You knew, however, that once he sets his eyes on Jina, all the nervousness would be replaced by an overflowing feeling of bliss.

He didn’t really have to wait an eternity to have that blissful feeling because the ceremony started soon after. Throughout this sacred event, you were silently watching as Jina and Iwaizumi exchanged their vows and it touched your heart just at how wonderful it was to see the two people close to you finally getting married.

They were such beautiful couple together.

On another hand, you caught a glimpse of Oikawa from the opposite side who had playfully winked at you. You chuckled and shook your head in humor.

“I’m late.” You heard someone say and you turned to your side to see Kageyama slipping in next to you. You could feel your heart pounding from your chest in an instant.

You averted your gaze because you wouldn’t be able to hold yourself back the more you looked at him. He rushed out of his game to be there yet he managed to look ravishing in a velvet tux. He was too perfect. Way, way too perfect that it hurts.

“You look beautiful,” he whispered on your ear, placing a gentle hand around your waist.

You hated when he did things like this, because it made it harder not to love him.

“They’re about to kiss,” you mumbled, looking back at the couple. Your hand moved to caress your bump, thinking about how cute it’d be when Jina conceives a baby of their own soon.

Wouldn’t it be adorable if they happened to have a baby girl that you can later pair up with your little boy?

The thought already made you excited.

You then watched as Jina and Hajime said their I do’s before sharing a sweet and loving kiss, sealing their marriage as an official newlywed couple.

Light tears formed on your eyes with the happiness you felt for them.

The reception was just as you expected. It wasn’t surprising to see some people from Kitagawa Daichi and Seijoh to be at the formal event. Of course, not everyone could make it but most of the couple’s closest relatives and friends were in there. It was meant to be an intimate wedding, anyway.

The best part was that the whole Aoba Johsai team was complete. You even had to go on explaining to Kindaichi about who your baby daddy was while Kunimi was claiming that it wasn’t much of a shock.

Those two have known Kageyama for as long as you did and they have witnessed how your puppy love for Tobio grew into a teenage crush and now into a baby.

It was a nice, nostalgic feeling to once again see the same people who watched you grow together. All the memories you’ve had with everyone in there were very dear to you.

You tried your best not to be too emotional when you delivered your speech for the couple during the reception, however Jina herself had wiped a tear or two.

Meanwhile, Oikawa was the one acting like a pregnant woman with how emotional he became. You actually had to pretend that you didn’t know the guy at one point and it was even funnier when he got teased by some of his former teammates for it.

Well, Iwaizumi was his greatest partner after all, so you did understand why Oikawa reacted that way. He was obviously very happy for him, much like how you felt for Jina.

As for Kageyama, you were doing your best to be civil around him. He was still trying to care for you, assist you with what you need, and simply be around you while also acknowledging the people that greeted him.

You didn’t know how to feel around him and you were at a point where you didn’t want to bother feeling anything anymore. You have come to terms with your feelings and you promised yourself that it was time to move on.

You just wanted your heart to be numb for once.

Loving Kageyama was dangerous—you knew that since the beginning, but you still took the risk. You made a gamble for your feelings just to have the sole happiness of what loving him made you feel.

It was the kind of love that sent you into ecstasy despite not being reciprocated. It was the kind of love that made you stronger despite all the pain you had to go through.

But there was a limit to everything.

When Lara called it an obsession, you denied it so hard at first. But at this point, if you were loving Tobio when it only benefits you, then maybe it really was an obsession after all.

Because he didn’t benefit from it. In fact, he was burdened by it.

He didn’t show it through his actions but you just knew by heart that someday, he would leave and realize what a waste it was to even try to be in this forced relationship with you.

Your feet already carried you towards the balcony to take a breath of fresh air as your thoughts were tormenting you.

You just wanted to be away from everyone, even for a few minutes. You needed to gather your thoughts together and calm yourself down.

Relax. Take a deep breath.

You needed to remind yourself that you couldn’t change your mind now and repeat the same cycle of wishing for Kageyama to love you over and over.

“Are you okay?” You heard Oikawa ask as he followed you to the balcony.

The stars were bright tonight but your feelings certainly weren’t.

“Trying to be,” you answered, this time with more honesty.

He made an effort to cup your cheeks. “Come on, do you need me to cheer you up again? Just say the magic word.”

“Is the magic word ‘Oikawa is sexy’?” You sent him a heartfelt smile.

He squeezed your cheeks. “You got it. Now smile or I’ll kiss the shit out of you.”

Before you could even respond to his playful joke, you heard someone clear their throat and that someone didn’t look particularly happy.

“I think you’re being too touchy with her,” Kageyama snapped, glowering at his senior.

Your heart skipped a beat.

Oikawa raised a brow at him, unpleased. “I think you should mind your business.”

That made Kageyama step closer. “I am minding my business. You’re all up my girlfriend’s face.”

The sudden tension made your fingertips feel cold.

Tooru sneered at him. “Tobio, you can’t have a girlfriend and make her cry.”

Kageyama was about to argue but you decided to step in.

“Guys, please,” you begged before turning to Oikawa. “Tooru, just give us a moment to talk. I’m sorry.”

Oikawa surely wouldn’t have let it go if you didn’t beg, but he did share one last look with Kageyama before leaving the two of you alone.

You felt sorry for him because he was only trying to cheer you up but this had to happen.

At the same time, you were glad this happened.

Because now, you finally had the chance to say what you’ve been planning to say to Kageyama for the past few days.

You turned around and took a deep breath.

You got this.

You inhaled, exhaled, and told yourself that it’d be okay.

“Are you mad? I...I’m sorry.” You heard Kageyama say, stepping closer behind you. “I just didn’t like how he—”

With a heavy heart, you faced him again.

Let him go.

“Tobio, maybe we should just stay separated.”

Those words came out of you like word vomit. You knew saying it would actually be more painful more than just thinking about it, but you had to tell him.

You’ve already thought about it a million times. You’ve had it at the back of your mind since the day you realized that he would never love you and it was time. He had to find his true happiness back.

It wasn’t easy for you.

You wished you could continue loving him the same way and still cling to that hope that he would return it. You wished you could be the person that he would love, not because he was forced to but because he truthfully wanted to. You wished things were different and that you were meant for him.

But you weren’t. He was meant for someone else.

You were certain it wouldn’t be difficult for him to agree and you had yourself prepared.

“Why?” He looked at you with a pained expression.

You sighed as you felt tears forming your eyes.

“Is this... Is this about that other day?” He shook his head, frantically. “She kissed me, I didn’t—I didn’t respond to it—”

“You know it’s more than just that, Tobio.” You looked down and wiped your eyes. “I’m just... I’m exhausted.”

He tried to make you look at his eyes, but you couldn’t.

God, you loved him. You loved him so fucking much that it was physically causing you pain to say all these.

“I won’t keep your son away from you. We can still co-parent, but you don’t have to always be around me anymore. You don’t have to try and pretend that being with me makes you happy because I don’t want that. You deserve to be with the person you really love even if that’s not with me.” You swallowed, hot tears leaving your eyes. “I’m so grateful that our baby has such a caring dad like you and I’ll never ever take away your rights as his father. But this... us... we don’t work together. It doesn’t feel right to have you this way and it’s unfair to you, so I want you to know that it’s better if we’re just not together anymore.”

You couldn’t exactly call this a breakup because you didn’t know if there was any real relationship between the two of you except for the sake of your baby. At least, on your part, you had been real to him. You always have been.

Yet it was evident on Tobio’s face that your words caused him immense pain.

That your words had pierced his heart.

Had broken him in half.

Had crushed him into pieces.

“No,” he answered in hard refusal.

You sighed. “Tobio, I’m sorry—”

“I said no, you can’t leave me!” he almost yelled, releasing an emotion that he was trying so hard to keep. “You can’t do this. I want to be with you. I want to have this family with you!”

No, you don’t. You belong to Lara, not me.

You took his hand and held it close to your heart as your tears started falling. “You don’t have to be with me for our baby. You will always be special to me, Tobio, but I think this is for the best. I’ve already long accepted that you’ll never really love me the same way. It’s okay and it will be okay.”

Just like you, he started crying, too. Tears ran down his cheek like waterfall. You didn’t exactly understand why he would show such vulnerability.

Tobio hardly cried and he only ever did when he was extremely hurt.

“I don’t want to,” he strictly said.

“But—”

“I’m fucking in love with you!”

You stood still, eyes wide, heart frozen.

You were at a moment of loss.

You never expected those words coming right out of his mouth.

“Can’t you see?” he continued, eyes filling up with tears. “I’m in love with you. I’ve been in love with you for the longest time and I didn’t realize until now!”

You squeezed his hand and tried to stop your chest from hurting. “That’s not true...”

“It is true!” he claimed, looking straight into your eyes without any hint of hesitation. “I’ve felt this way for you since high school, but I didn’t understand my true feelings back then and I’m so... I’m so fucking dumb! How can I not love you? You’ve been there for me when no one else was. You’ve stayed with me when I lost the person that raised me and I thought I had no one else left. You’ve continued to love me unconditionally even when I was difficult to you. You loved me more than I deserved! I know could have told you how I felt sooner but you left when I almost had the courage.”

You couldn’t move as you listened to his every word. It felt like a dream. Like you had jumped to another reality.

This seemed like a cruel illusion that the universe was playing with you.

“All this time I’ve been convincing myself that I could feel the same way for anyone else. All this time, I thought I could find someone like you from anyone. I’ve convinced myself that I had forgotten how I felt for you and that I shifted those feelings for Lara.” He took a short pause. “I thought I had learned to love her, but you came back...”

He walked closer to you, caging you between him and the barrier.

“That night at the party,” he reminded you. “When I saw you, I made myself believe that I wasn’t gonna feel anything special. But I ended up wanting to kiss you, hold you, show you how much I fucking missed you. I was so eager that I wanted to make you feel how much I goddamn love you even if I didn’t know it myself. Even if my feelings didn’t make any sense. I couldn’t stop myself from doing things that I could regret, but you... I don’t regret what I have with you.”

“Tobio...” You sobbed, staring at his beautiful face under the moonlight.

This was undoubtedly Tobio Kageyama’s weakest and most vulnerable moment, and he was showing it to you.

It was a strange feeling to hear him pour out his emotions that you never knew had been present within him for the longest time.

He loved you.

He was in love you.

From then until now.

You weren’t just an extra that would fade in the background.

You were the main character all along.

“Don’t ever say I’m not happy with you because I’m the happiest I’ve ever been since I realized how I feel for you,” he said, eyebrows furrowing as his shiny eyes stared at you. “Don’t decide what makes me happy or not.”

You didn’t know which feeling dominated you the most: shock? joy? disbelief? It was all the emotion you had combined that made your heart burst into flames.

You sniffed.

“I love you,” he omitted those words with so much sincerity.

They were simple three words that meant the entire universe to you. Simple three words that you’ve always wanted to hear. If this was a dream, you didn’t wish to wake up from it.

Your eyes started welling up again. “You’re only saying this because—”

“I love you,” he repeated, wiping your cheek. “I love all of you, not just because you have my baby. Please don’t give up on me.”

Your heart was crying out of utter happiness.

And while the tears from your eyes had finally stopped, he leaned in and pressed his soft lips against yours.

They said that a first kiss felt like rainbows and sunshines and fireworks. This certainly wasn’t your first kiss nor was it his, but you felt so much more than what others described it to be.

This kiss was raw and pure and sober.

This kiss was from his deepest feelings that he’d connected to yours.

You found yourself holding on to his shoulders as he kissed you more.

He kissed you with so much passion that you couldn’t think of anything else but the sweet feeling of his lips. This kiss felt so right, so perfect, so undeniably incomparable.

And when you both pulled away to catch your breath, foreheads pressed against each other, you knew it was impossible to ever stop loving this man.

“I only wanna be with you,” he whispered. “For the rest of my life.”

This wasn’t your wedding.

But how come it felt like you’ve just married this man?

“Me too,” you replied with a cracked voice that caused him to smile.

He pressed a light kiss on your lips once more before touching your cheek.

You stared at each other’s eyes like there was no tomorrow, just simply appreciating each other’s presence, realizing the choices you’ve made, the words you’ve said, the emotions you’ve let out.

He made you feel one in a million.

Tw~pregnant reader, tobio is nervous about parenthood, anxious thoughts, mentions of trying for a baby for a while, Tobio cries and feels guilty, let me know if I missed anything!

It wasn’t like your pregnancy was unplanned, the two of you had actually been trying for a baby for a while so it made Kageyama a bit nervous, before he had never really thought about fatherhood much, he thought he was capable of it, but now that there’s an itty bitty baby growing in you, he’s not so sure he’ll be good at it.

Every baby who’s seen him up until now, has been utterly terrified of him, who’s to say his own baby won’t be the same? Every time you bring up the baby placing your hands on the almost nonexistent bump he nearly pisses himself out of fear as if the baby’s going to start shouting that it’s so very scared of it’s father from inside your belly or something, and you never quite understood why he’d become so uneasy when you mentioned the baby.

Maybe he was having second thoughts and now that the two of you had finally conceived he didn’t want to be a dad? What if that happened??

One night when you’re around seven months pregnant you’ve got your hands rested on your belly while you lean down whispering how your precious baby girl is going to have the best dad, telling her you aren’t so sure why he hasn’t introduced himself yet as you assure the baby he’d be the best dad she could imagine.

“I mean, when he proposed he almost got a little emotional on me for a minute…he’s a bit awkward but in a sweet way.” You tell her as you smile fondly at your bump leaning back against the headboard as she kicks.

And Tobio can’t help but cry when he hears that as he stands beside the doorframe, covering his mouth so you can’t hear the little sobs coming from him, he’d never meant to make you or the baby feel that way. So from that day on he vows to be there for you and the baby even if he’s horrible at it he figures putting in effort and failing is better than simply not.

it's already dark when his practice ended. so, he went home as fast as he can. too worried that you are left alone in the house.

he sighed in relief when he saw you sleeping on the couch. he walked towards you and sit on the floor where his face and your face are on the same level.

he caressed your hair. scanned your body to make sure nothing happened to you.

there's something familiar with you that he cant pinpoint about. he stared at your belly and that's where he realize that your wearing his old karasuno jersey.

he chuckled and looked at you lovingly, like a lovesick teenager boy. he can't help but to kiss your lips.

and because of that you were woken up from your deep slumber. "tobio?"

he hummed and kissed your lips again. "you should wear my jersey more often. it suits you."

"will you lend me your jersey?" you raised both of your arms, signaling him to come close to you and hug you. which he happily oblige.

"ofcourse." you whinned when he broke the hug.

"you're just so... i don't know why im crying.. i just really love you so much, kei... im really thankful and happy to have you even though you piss me off sometimes."

"i know. i love you too and our baby, okay? stop crying, my love." he caress your back and kisses your forehead. "you can wear that jersey now, i made sure that its clean."

you happily obliged and now your both watching his currently favorite documentary of dinosaurs in netflix.
