A/N - SO CUTE FOR AZRIEL! I loved writing this, and thanks for requesting this! I hope you like it!

Special

Summary - Azriel reassured you of how special you are to him

Warnings - Mostly fluff :)

“Here, rest your wings here,”

“I don’t need to—“

“I don’t wanna hear it. They need a massage and you know it. Come, lay on your belly here,”

Watching your mate grumble a bit was a bit comical, but he plopped down on the massive king-sized bed you two shared, the soft sheet under him instantly cooled him down and he sighed in relief as his wings were now plaint on both sides of him along the top of the comforter. With the fire roaring in the fireplace in front of the bed and the window slightly open to let in the spring evening breeze, You knelt behind your mate to see his muscular and toned backside and his wings hanging off his sides with fatigue and stress laced in the membrane and bone structure.

Grabbing some of the lotion from the nightstand that you would use for times like these, you rubbed some between your fingers and then sat along the back of his thick thighs, pushing your fingers along his lower back and hips since his past hung low to give you access and space to his tan skin. Within a millisecond, Azriel moaned and hummed in approval, almost acting like a cat getting a head scratch. He would act like a cat when he would be pampered by you, it’s been his way since you two met some years ago. You both stumbled on each other really, fate or simply by chance. Either way, you were grateful to have Azriel in your life, and you knew he felt the same way about you.

Being mates with Azriel was no easy task, not with his line of work and what he did for the High Lord and Lady of Night Court. He would spy for them and seek out information, placing his neck on the line daily for the sake of his Court and for Velaris most of all. But he was a good Spymaster, never breaking a sweat when it came to close calls or near-death experiences. To him, it was just another day at the office, but it did take some time for you to get used to it.

If you could, you would have him stay home and be safe where you knew danger would not come after him. But that was more of a fever dream, you would have to wait for him to come home every time he was summoned to spy on another court or accompany his High Lord and Lady. Azriel knew what that meant to you, he was used to being alone and not needing to have another being worry about him. As his mate, Azriel had to make sure not only you were safe, but that he would come back to you in one piece simply to put you at ease.

Your nights together were sacred. He loved having time with you to decompress from his stressful day, just as you enjoyed being with Azriel after being at your store for hours on end. You loved your job, running the store for centuries, and being able to finically take care of yourself. But there was something about being with Azriel and spending time with him over dinner or with a glass of wine in hand. Azriel would tell you all about his mission, well, as much as he could tell you that wasn’t classified, and you were indulging him with all the gossip with your customers and patrons. He thought of them as hilarious, and to hear him laugh made your heart soar since it was a beautiful and rare sound.

You moved your palms along a particular spot, hearing him let out a gutted moan as you grinned and worked the knot out of his shoulder.

“I don’t think you’ve been stretching when I told you to,” you lightly scolded him, hearing Azriel laugh as his eyes were still closed and his head against his pillow.

“I forgot today,” he reasoned with you as your fingers were now moving along his wings, being gentle along with the membrane and the thin flesh. You feel Azriel hum in approval, a sigh of relief was on his lips as you were working along his wings and near his spine. It was a sacred thing, to have someone touch an Illryian’s wings. It was only meant for a significant other to do, Azriel was far too protective of his wings since it was part of himself. Growing up the way he did, how he was treated and used in a sense, he swore not to have another touch his wings.

But you came along, and he would go to his knees for you because of how much you loved him.

“There, all better,” You hummed, about to get up from your spot along his backside when he moved so quickly, you almost flew off from the instant rush. He was now on his back, sitting up with you in his lap and with his arms around you tightly, and a massive grin on his face. Azriel even looked more relaxed and calm, the coolness of his hazel eyes and the tossed hair that shined from the fire.

“Someone’s peppy now,” You teased, seeing him grin from ear to ear as his fingers were drumming along your lower back. Even close enough to see the specs in his hazel eyes and the few freckles along his jawline and cheeks, you were still entranced with him with his rare beauty and unique look. From the moment you two laid eyes with one another, you were a goner for him. From how he cocked his head at you and how his smile beamed. There would be no other like him, and you were okay with that.

You were beyond lucky he wanted you as much as you wanted him.

“How could I not be peppy with a mate like you?” He asked aloud, you both smiling at one another as he moved his hand up to trace away some of your hair from your eyes with his fingers, “I know I tell you all the time, but I’m damn lucky to have you in my life. I get to come home to you and feel…”

You rose a brow at him, “Happy?”

He shook his head as he cupped your face with his palm “Safe. You made me feel safe. I haven’t felt safe in a long time, and now I do thanks to you,”

You were starting to shake your head, you were never a huge fan of receiving words of affirmation since you were not used to it yourself, but Azriel leaned in and kissed you sweetly. You hummed, the softness of his lips against yours and how you breathed in the pine aroma that was along his skin, it was a sense of peace for you. For someone as strong or as dangerous as Azriel to kiss you so softly like you were a feather and hold you like you were made of glass, it both scared you and made you love him more.

He pulled away, scanning your eyes and seeing him grinning and being so blissfully happy.

“You are so special to me,” He reassured you, his voice so calm and yet so true as he kept you close in his arms, “I don’t think anyone else come as close as you do, and no one else will.”

You moved to trace his jawline with your fingers as you smiled and beamed, “I feel the same way about you too, Az. I feel lucky to call you mine,”

“ ‘Lucky’ is not the word I would use,” Azriel hummed, leaning back into you again as he was breathing you in and kissing you soundly to distract you and make your head swim. You felt like you were under a spell with him, which always happened with Azriel as he pulled away briefly to speak again, “I would use….honored….blessed….other words. And I would rather use other ways to show you how I love you instead of my words,”

And with his stripping off your clothes and bringing in insane love and pleasure, you knew how special you felt.

Chapter 2

is this foreshadowing? Will Violet or someone else learn the art of ward building to save them all?

I love how Dain acts like nothing happened. Like, wtf? Why are you surprised Violet hates you?!

I knew Imogen would grow on me!

Omg I bet the person they’re interrogating is Xaden. He never made it out to his post and it’s why he hasn’t come to see Violet. I just don’t know how they can keep the dragons from each other

“"I can take her," Sloane fires back, white-knuckling her knife, "From what your letter said last year, her joints pop right out. How hard can it be?" "Seriously?" I shoot a reproachful look at Imogen. "I can explain." Imogen puts her hand over her heart, "You see, I didn't like you last year, remember? You're kind of an acquired taste."”

hahahaha I love the banter in this series

Chapter 10

I knew this dude was sent by Aetos. So freaking sloppy! And the more this book goes on, the more I think Dain didn’t know about the War Games thing. He’s an annoying prick but I don’t see him being malicious enough to let Violet walk to her death. Plus, I actually don’t recall him shitting on people with a relic. He just seems to hate Xaden lol

Welp, there goes my theory about Xaden being tortured lol

I find it hilarious that Xaden is so obsessed with Violet’s hair lol

Chapter 11

“Coconspirators with a vested interest in keeping each other alive.”

Lol love Imogen. She’s giving me Ron Swanson vibes here with his “work proximity associates” speech 😂😂😂

Banning people from knowledge in order to keep their corrupt secrets from the public is not sustainable. Sure, it drastically slows the distribution of information but the truth always comes out - it’s just a matter of when!

I wonder if the Scribes are translating everything from the old language in order to hide more lies

Varrish grinning at Violet saying “dragons don’t take orders from humans” does not bode well. Has he found a way to control dragons? Or at least influence them with blackmail or something else?

Varrish is such a dick. Like, get a life dude.

This Varrish guy is the worst. He’s like Miss Umbridge from the Harry Potter series

You would think there would be more crossover activities and exercises between riders and infantry if they have to work together so much and infantry are expected to work alongside dragons

Chapter 15

Rhiannon is responding to Violet keeping secrets way better than Violet is to Xaden lol She’s like “hey, you’re hiding something and that’s fine but don’t lie about lying” with Violet. And Xaden is like “Honestly, I have secrets I can’t tell but here are all of the intimate details of my life.” Come on Violet! Quit trippin' and get back with Xaden lol

I don’t like the rift going on between Rhiannon and Violet this book. They need each other and it’s annoying lol

Alright 2 things that annoy me about this book so far:

1. The lack of Xaden and Violet scenes 2. Violet being mad at Xaden for keeping secrets from her in order to protect others

Chapter 16

Yesssss, Imogen is spitting facts!!! Hopefully this will convince Violet to let him back in

Theory time: Omg is death what’s powering the wards??? Is that why so many more people are dying at an alarming rate? They need more students to die to power up the wards? And maybe daggers work because they are an instrument for causing death?

For some reason, book 2 reads a little more like a YA novel than the first book

Oh god, I really hope an attack doesn’t occur while they’re on this training mission and then Violet feels responsible for not putting up the wards sooner 😬

Violet must be thinking of Xaden and how he might go mad since his dragon was previously bonded with someone in his direct line

No lie, this fight between Xaden and Violet is a little silly and getting exhausting

Omg is Xadens second signet mind reading? That would explain a lot. It would also explain why he’s scared to share since they execute people with that signet

Now I need to reread these books to see when he reads her mind. Oh man, I hate to say it but it kind of sounds like what Dain did to her last year

hmmmm, that was too easy lol

Ugh, we’ve been here before - Violet discovers a big secret about Xaden right before some war conflict and they’re fighting in the midst of chaos. Not sure I’m a fan that it’s a repeat of the last book lol

Chapter 57

well I’m glad Cat has stopped being a twat and decided that focusing on saving the continent is the way to go over petty squabbles over an ex lol She reminds me of Lysandra but in a good way lol

I think the trouble with the writing of their relationship is that Xaden is so amazing and their relationship is so magnetic that their conflicts feel forced. The obstacles they face within their relationship are hard to develop when Xaden is always saying the right things after they fight lol Not that I’d want it any other way - but I think that’s why I’m struggling with not rolling my eyes when they get into arguments. Violet deserves to be angry about the betrayal but then it just feels like her decision on what she’ll do next about them takes FOREVER and it feels like it’s dragged out across a whole ass book.

Omg did Brennan come?! Is he announcing his “undeadness”?!

Violet immediately wants Xaden to use his secret signet on the others? I don’t disapprove at all but that better mean she will forgive him swiftly lol

It isn’t in Violet to NOT help innocent civilians if she can.

“I love you enough to bear the weight of your disappointment.”

Total mom sacrifice right there!

I need a novella of their mom and dad and how they got together lol

Chapter 58

If I were with the Rebellion, I’d agree to help Navarre on the condition that they make it public knowledge that Venin are real and they’ve been lying to citizens for centuries in order to keep a specific amount of citizens safe - that way, they’re not leaving innocents to die AND if they all survive the battle at Solstice, the rebels will walk away with an additional win (the entire continent knowing the truth)

am I the only one who visualize white walkers from GOT when I read about the venin in this book? Lol

Alright let’s go!!! Way to not turn into the enemies!

Chapter 59

What is with Andarna’s scale colors?! Their changing colors have been mentioned all book - I wonder what’s the significance? Is she a rainbow dragon?! That would be dope lol

Jack's dragon's eyes are weird? Another reference to dragons seeming off! I bet they’re controlling it! But who would want the wards to fail? Who is Jack in league with if Varish is dead? IS Varish even dead?! Did freaking Nolon bring him back to life like he did with Jack?!

What the heck?! Did Jack become venin?! Why did he slaughter his own dragon?!?

Chapter 60

I knew he became venin! But didn’t realize it was for SO LONG!

Add-on to the theory: I think both journals are right but describe it differently. Warrick says six AND the one that combines all which must be what Andarna is since she’s always changing colors. Lyra’s journal says seven because it combines the six and the one

You couldn’t help but feel that something was a little off in the castle. If the strange purple flames that illuminated the dark and eerie corridors weren’t strange enough. Just about everything was skull shaped, skull platters, skull mugs, skull goblets, even the tea spoons. They were ornate and of beautiful craftsmanship, but it was like nothing like you had ever seen before.

“None of it is real of course!” The King had chuckled as you peered slightly off-puttingly at the soup bowl that had been set in front of you. It was very nearly human sized, with enough fine details you could have mistaken it for a real head. One that had been hollowed out, just for the sole purpose of serving soup.

“You do seem to like skulls,” you reply cautiously as you offer up a smile. He clears his throat, and takes a healthy swig from his goblet of wine.

“It was. . . my fathers’ idea for all the skulls,” He replies hastily, “If you would prefer, I could have someone fetch a different bowl.”

You tense in surprise then shake your head, “Oh no, sire! No need! You have been more than hospitable to me already, I would feel selfish to ask for anything more!” You glance back at the soup bowl on the table, and make your decision. Not one to waste a hot meal that was offered to you, you tuck in. The soup was delicious, just as fine as the meals that had come before. Despite the way it was presented to you.

It’s true, the time you have been allowed to stay at the castle was more than generous. You had been getting ready to leave the night before, but the king himself had persuaded you to stay for another few nights. For the past week you had stayed mostly by his side. Conversing with him and chatting. You can’t remember the last time meeting someone that had hung onto every word you spoke. Especially not royalty, and you had been immensely charmed by the way he took special care in recalling what you had to say.

“I haven’t heard word from the outside world for a very long time.” He confided in you gently one evening. While the two of you had sat in front of a warm crackling hearth. “It’s been like a breath of fresh air to me,” How could you possibly choose to leave after such words like that were uttered in your confidence?

You had taken a liking to him as soon as you met him. A short and stout gentleman with a well trimmed beard and mustache. A few streaks of silver that alighted in his dark hair. He was good natured and seemed to be of good spirits, for he always seemed to be smiling when you were present. He must be a fair ruler, you thought to yourself as you walk the long twisting corridors back to your temporary chambers.

However. . . The other occupants that resided inside the walls struck a different chord with you. The knights you would meet in the corridors seemed to be highly keen on avoiding you. Whenever you passed by, they would turn away, or leave their post. Unheard of and strange, it had surprised you immensely when you first arrived. Soldiers turning their back on a castle guest? It made you wonder if your warm welcome wasn’t as warm as the ruler had made it sound upon your arrival. Yet once you would get to conversing with his majesty, those niggling thoughts would evaporate.

The clatter of armour of two of knights echoes down the hallway as they ran headlong into each other. One had tried to quickly turn the corner, when they had seen you coming. You wince, shoulders rounding up to either side of your face. You peek out around splayed fingers,

“A-are you alright?”

“Of course!” They quickly press their hands ontop of their helmet, “Never better!”

You watch the pair hurry off and a frown creases your forehead.

“See what you almost did?” One soldier blusters at the other as they reach a safe place to converse. The other taking off their helmet, revealing the chalky white pallor of bone. Deep eye sockets have a faint light that flickers to life as they grind their jaw to one side of their face.

“Me? Whose idea was it to come charging around the corner! You are acting suspiciously! I bet my left humerus that they already know something is afoot. You haven’t been exactly covert. Dodging around corners and skulking around!”

“Keep your helmet on!” The other hisses, “If the mortal finds out before his majesty can talk to them, we’ll both be buried out in the gardens again!”

The two ghouls glare at each other before they sigh heavily.

Well. They sigh as heavily as one can without any internal organs to sigh with.

“This is happiest the King has been in a very long time—“

“Of course it had to be with a mortal, why couldn’t he have gotten wed to a good normal creature of darkness.”

1) Most people don’t have 9-5 jobs. I love Dolly’s song but I don’t think that is a standard work day anymore. Even when trying to be relatable, it’s little things like that shwoing she isn’t.

2) I thought she cut out the junk food? Back to Domino’s and pastries?

3) I thought the latest spin was that the movie was pro-choice? Now she’s marketing it to mother’s? Then why not release around mother’s day? This doesn’t even take into account everyone was led to believe initially it was an LGBTQ film.

4) You aren’t a martyr Lili. No one asked you to attack Kim, you did it for self serving reasons that no celebrity had an obligation to back you on. Nor did you lose your livelihood as happens to some people who are attacked by twitter mobs. You and your family were even the cause of one for Cole that caused him eventually to opt out so no one is playing a violin here for you.

5) I think what bothers me most is she thinks this is the worse thing in the world. Try looking over at Ukraine and Russia and Iran right now. The latter of which is something I’d THINK a REAL feminist would be impassioned by. Are you waiting until more celebrities speak out on it so you can tag yourself in for attention?

6) No, people think you are an annoying hypocrite who pipes off without thought, often malice and always narcissistically. Anything that happens, you turn about to you rather than focus on the event itself.

7) Lili now trying to pretend she didn’t hire paps to take her picture at home so create the impression she is a larger than life celebrity while downplaying idea she wants to be one.

You said in another recent interview called a DIVA on set who wouldn’t come out of her trailer. She has deliberately turned fans away and demanded shown annoyance he stopped for them. You have said in past didn’t want to take any little old thing offered, only quality roles. You deliberately slighted people like King Princess until recently when obvious her star was rising then make a point of playing her music but before that was beneath your public acknowledgement. But you were quick to glom on to people you thought more famous or “respectable”. Sure, you don’t have an ago at all.

Just another puff damage control piece where she takes on criticism leveled at her and tries to play them off as untrue. But hey...at least she has internalized the moniker Princess.

for some reasons, i always attract cancers?? which is weird to me cus when i was young n in a relationship with a cancer, we checked our compability for fun n the results made her break up with me LMAO it's actually hilarious to me! I LOVE cancers, i think they're interesting smart empathetic, i feel bad for em when they get made fun of (zion), they're a type of funny that keeps you listening! But there just always seems to be something that happens that just? Breaks our bond. It's crazy. My mom was a cancer n she tried drowning me when i was a baby but i still feel bad for her cus she was messed up n kept stayin with my dad so? It's a pretty good representation of all my relationships with cancers!

When cancers think you're funny, you'll know. They really KNOW how to give people the appreciation they deserve, even the most seemingly 'boring' of people. Hence their high compabilities with tauruses. (Kevin h*rt, cancer, and rock, taurus is a prime example of a cancer taurus dynamic working. Cancer can stroke a taurus' ego but keep them entertained at the same time by being clever & compassionate. While the taurus will give a cancer the undying loyalty & protection they deserve while showing them the greatest 'treat yourselfs' a taurus can conjure. Empathy & luxury, sensitivity & strength!!!) I'm lowkey jealous of their relationship! Because I WANT That with a cancer cus i LOVE cancers n seeing a taurus have that with them while i can't makes me hate tauruses. But you shouldn't because they can be super lovely too! It's easy to box them into boring but really, they're just comfortable! N want to stay comfortable! A cancer can keep them comfortable WHILE caring AND entertaining! It's very interesting to witness! If you are a cancer, seek out a taurus buddy!

N I THINK CANCERS ARE ATTRACTED TO ME CUS THEY THINK IM AN ARIES???? that could be an explanation... idk, like! I can spend some time with cancers n it's coo! A cancer will pay attention, hear, and laugh at all the quiet jokes you say under the louder speakers of the group. They're SO attentive that way, i LOVE it. I've had some of the funniest, comfortable conversations with them. Like lesbian he him bowser from Mario, we both agree about him n support him, king.

THEN a situation happens where i need to be more empathetic n they don't get why im not. Like in 4th grade the whole class took an honors math like skills test? N the teacher would call them up to her desk and tell them their scores. My cancer friend got a really good score n i cheered. You could overhear the scores because the teacher's desk was literally in the same room as the students. Just right next to their desks n she announced them super loud. N then i got called up n she basically told me i BARELY passed just BARELY. She didn't say it relieved but like. Concerned? Really disappointed n i still carry that with me cus i always remember when people yell at me or feel disappointed in me. N IT'S NOT LIKE parent tells you they're disappointed in you for playing ds past your bedtime, it's somehow more stupid like my piano teacher spending the whole session ripping on me over making a mistake in a classical practice piece with my older brother in the room. Idk, i hate feeling like i let people down IN FRONT of other people, pride thing. I try not to let it get to me as much n act rash as a reaction but it always will n ill always be struggling to work on it. But basically i did the worst in the class (it was an HONORS math class so everyone else was like einstein), and went back to my seat still smiling trying to be positive. I was like 'man who's next? I passed' n my cancer friend said 'no you didn't. You barely even passed.' All serious staring at me. N in front of everybody

N i don't cry genuinely cant, 'taught' not to by my dad. But that did hurt me cause it hurt my pride. But cus i don't cry, i got angry. Never talked to him again, just ghosted him out my life. Which sucks cus i still think about our old conversations, he was the funniest kid in baby school to me! And nicest too, once i lost something really important to me in the snow, n he went out to help me find it. We walked like 5 miles back for it to find it. Cancers are great, but we just can't remain right with each other.

I think he thought i was trying to hide my math test result from him n that hurt his trust? It sounds dramatic but we were kids so dramatic is probably the right answer lmao. We were both dramatic! Those 3 cancers weren't the only cancers ive met, but they've affected how i change myself with other cancers now. Kinda keep it distance, keep it to small fun talks but never actually hang out over the summer kinda fun. Cus i don't want our happy friendship ruined by something stupid coming along, which is easy to happen with two people that think they gel more than they actually do

We all know that Luke gets teased by the brothers and even his roommates sometimes (looking at you Solomon), but it’s just harmless teasing (for the most part). It’s when he hears what the other students say about him that gets to him- he tries to show that it doesn’t bother him and he tries to stand up for himself but- their words really hurt him

You already get onto the brothers for their teasing when it starts to bother him, and now the brothers have to jump in to stop you from trying to rip this demon horns’ off

You can’t really reach them and they’re pretty sure you won’t do any damage, but they rather not take the chance of you getting hurt

It’s not the first or last time that you do this either, and it just makes him feel horrible. He’s the angel here, the one that’s suppose to protect you, not the other way around!

You help him out so much, either without defending him you do so much for him already. How can he ever repay you? He feels like whatever he does won’t be enough…WAIT- he figured out what he can do!

He can get stronger and protect you! He can go to Beel so that you don’t have to fight for him anymore, or maybe have Solomon make some potions that’s like demon repellent but only for those jerks. If those mean demons see how serious and strong he is, then they’re bound to leave you guys alone! Maybe he can show you some tricks too once he’s done. He has to hurry up and tell you the plan then, you guys can’t wait any longer!

Their words do hurt, but so does seeing you putting yourself in harms way to protect him. You can’t do all the protecting MC, he needs to watch out for you too, no if ands or buts about it!

okay so at the beginning of your relationship, you were a little bit hesitant to let him know whenever you were on your period, just because it felt like he didn’t really need to know ??

but osamu’s kind of like,,, very smart and he starts to notice whenever you’d cancel plans or maybe when you ask to stay in when you had been planning on going out or maybe he notices when your appetite is a little messier, your sleep a little disturbed.

either way, he kinda picks up on it, but he grew up with no sisters and a mother who didn’t have much reason to tell him about periods so he‘s still very clueless

one day you‘re just not in the mood and he bluntly asks, “are ya on yer period?” but it comes out so wrong like 😭 it sounded really offensive when he was just genuinely curious and worried for your wellbeing and you kinda gawked at him like ????

but then he just like raises his brows as if expecting an answer like, “are ya or are ya not?” but he also adds, “s’kay if ya are, m’just wonderin’.”

when you’re cautious with asking him if he’s like annoyed or disgusted, he’s very honest when he says, “nah, just wanted ta know if i can help.”

the moment he’s home he corners atsumu and asks for help, like atsumu would know??? atsumu bullshits so much and osamu can tell he’s bullshitting so he turns to his mom. just sits her down and asks her how he can be of help when it comes to periods. pls imagine how proud she must’ve beeb :(

anyways he doesn’t really memorize your cycle or anything like that but he just picks up on signs that you’re pms’ing. any complaints about breast or back or stomach pain, any headaches or insomnia, or nausea or bloating like he just has the symptoms memorized.

and as soon as he hears, for example, your back is aching, or your shoulders hurt, he’s casually just gonna get behind you and start massaging, carrying on any conversation or watching the movie/tv show, or continuing a phone call. he’ll just kinda mindlessly do it for you.

he also kinda likes how much you indulge yourself with food either before or on your period. he hates that part where you start to feel guilty about it but he just goes “mmm yeah for sure of course” as you whine about eating too much while he’s stuffing your face with more food. he doesn’t care, he’s gonna make sure you’re eating a lot no matter what. and he’ll eat double the amount if it makes you feel better.

he’s very very very calm and chill about it. like he doesn’t make a big deal about it in any way, neither extremes you know. he just treats you the same way he would any other day, but you can tell he’s gentler. like he lets any snap from yours pass and is a lot cuddlier and indulges you more, but very subtly you know. he just doesn’t want you to feel like you’re burdening him in any way.

he seems “ok sure” and so whatever about buying pads and/or tampons but is actually so clueless it’s hilarious. he’s not embarrassed just so, so lost 😭 and he’s too prideful to ask for help from you so he just sends pictures to the vbc in hopes they’ll help him. they make fun of him, and it remains a running joke for a very long time, but they eventually put their brains together and help him (i.e. kita texts you and asks you specifically so that osamu gets what you want and not just anything).

osamu probably runs really warm (both the twins do), so any time your tummy hurts he just splays his hand across your lower abdomen and squeezes and kneads lightly. why invest in a heating pad when you have a whole boyfriend yk

makes you so much tea, especially chamomile tea, and when you can’t sleep, with even the tea not helping, he just hugs you really, really tight to him and cuddles you real close. he has his arms wrapped around you and he’s kissing your forehead and temple and just soothingly rubbing your back as you mewl and whine into his chest about how much it hurts.

makes fun of you for getting into those weird positions that somehow magically get rid of the pain, but just leaves you be with a kiss to your temple and a genuine laugh.

also if you ever leak in bed, it’s literally not a problem at all. he just shoos you away to get cleaned up and takes care of everything. even leaves a painkiller and some water by your bedside for when you come back.

if you ever leak in public, he’s gotchu, immediately like rushing up to stand behind you and whisper in your ear to warn you. leads you to the bathroom and gets you extra clothes if you’re in the mall or something, unless he has a hoodie or jacket on him that he can tie around your waist. he doesn’t mind either at all. what a gentleman please :(

now if your cramps are bad bad, like throwing up, passing out, physically can’t move, all that good good stuff, he is very, very protective. like he’s always making sure you’re drinking water and staying hydrate, and feeds you very little foods not to trigger your nausea but also just enough to keep you healthy yk? he also tries very hard to make sure you stay at home during the worse days, like staying in bed with minimal movement while he takes care of you.

he just gets this whole newfound respect for girls and women. he’d always had it, but now that he’s seen it firsthand and so personal, the respect magnifies. he’s definitely saved a life or two by just casually having a pad or tampon in his schoolbag or something. like he once saw this first year girl panicking outside the bathroom and was like ?? are ya okay ?? and she blurted out that she got her period and didn’t have anything on her and he was like, “oh, okay. here,” and just handed her some like <3333 king <3333

anyways all in all, the perfect gentleman. takes care of you very well without making you feel like a burden, and never makes you feel like your period’s an inconvenience.

“A sick day”

CW- PTSD, mentions of violence

Aelin considered herself a fortunate person.

She has survived genocide, her family's murders, losing loved ones, slavery, torture, and the Great War. Now she is a queen, a mother, a beloved Mate.

Her life had changed since those bleak days where she'd wondered if she would ever escape captivity—the days when Aelin didn't know if she would ever be free or find love again. Every morning she woke up curled into Rowan's side, and while she drank her morning tea, Aelin could count on her young daughter snuggling into her lap.

Yes, she was swamped most days, but that was normal for a queen. But even the moments between boring meetings brimmed with life and laughter. Rowan's hand on her thigh beneath the table. Fenrys' theatrics when conversation spiraled off-topic. And even the hardened lords thought it was hilarious when their three-year-old princess barged into councils and demanded her mother's attention.

Her family gathered for dinners at the end of every day. Aelin's little family, Fenrys, Emrys, and Malakai were the regular attendees. Aedion, Lysandra, Elide, and Lorcan joined when they were present. It was a time reserved for family only, and it was by far Aelin's favorite part of the day.

Aelin had a good life now. Her family was growing, and her country thrived beneath her rule.

So it always took her by surprise when a bad day came.

She had woken up fine. Delly had slammed open the chamber door with a gust of wind and squirmed herself between her and Rowan in the early morning. Usually, Aelin treasured the moments when her daughter joined them, but being pregnant again had taken a toll on her sleep.

Rowan tried to stop their child before she entirely collapsed onto Aelin but was a moment too slow. Delly flopped onto her mother's chest in a disarray of wrinkled nightgown and golden curls. Soft sobs were sputtering out of the tiny figure.

I'm sorry. Rowan whispered into her thoughts. He knew how hard pregnancy was on her and took his mate's comfort very seriously. It troubled him that their toddling daughter woke Aelin so abruptly.

Aelin blinks the sleep from her eyes and sends him a happy smile to assure him everything is fine.

"What's wrong, Dell?" Aelin soothes a hand up her baby's quaking form.

Adelia sniffles harder, unable to talk through the tears. She'd started to have bad dreams in recent weeks, but never had she been so inconsolable.

Aelin shifts as Adelia's arms tighten uncomfortably around her bump. Rowan sees her discomfort and reaches around to pull Dell to him instead, but it is met with resistance.

"No," Adelia finally wails. "Mama. I want Mama."

Rowan frowns. Adelia was a daddy's girl to the bone, and this was the first time she'd ever refused to go to him. Their daughter squeezes harder and burrows her face into Aelin's torso.

"Dell," Rowan leans next to her and whispers, a cool breeze brushing against her flushed cheek. "What's wrong little love?"

Adelia lifts her head, and Aelin's heart contracts painfully. Her cheeks are red and swollen from the intensity of her crying, little sobs still stumbling from her chest as Rowan settles her down enough to speak.

"Mama was gone. She was hurt, and she couldn't see me." Dell sniffles, her green eyes glassy. "Can you see me, Mama?"

Aelin tugs her daughter in closer, unable to stand the sight of her so sad. "Yes, of course, I can. I'm right here."

"You were in a box. She wouldn't let me see you," Adelia whimpers in a small voice. "She told me she was gonna keep you. I don't want you to go, Mama."

Aelin's face blanches. It wasn't possible. Her little baby couldn't possibly have seen what was coming to her mind. She looks at Rowan, and his face is pinched with worry.

"It's not real, Dell." Rowan uses a thumb to wipe the tears off her cheek.

Adelia flinches. "Uncle Ress told me it was. He told me Mama had got stollen and put into a box by the bad lady and that she should have stayed there."

Aelin's heart stops. Nausea crawls up her throat, and Rowan tugs Adelia away just in time for her to crawl out of bed and gag into a potted plant. The sickness grips Aelin, the shudders in her arms only growing worse with her daughter's mumbled cries.

"Daddy, I want Mama to stay here." Rowan hushes her and murmurs quiet reassurances. "Don't let her get stollen."

Ress had said that? In front of her daughter? Aelin tries to close her eyes against the visions creeping into her mind. The places her scars used to be ache, and her hands pulse with the remembered pain of reconstruction.

The baby in her womb squirms under its mother's stress, and Aelin throws up again.

She should have stayed there.

Cairn brings the hammer down onto her frail knees, the ringing of cracking bone splits the air.

She should have stayed there.

Aelin opens her eyes to endless darkness. Sweet smoke wafts through invisible holes and sends her to sleep- leaving her mind vulnerable to Maeve's manipulations.

She should have stayed there.

More and more memories swarm behind her eyelids until a pair of grounding arms wrap around her shoulders.

"Fireheart, you are home. You are safe. Can you breathe with me?" Rowan sighs loudly behind her shoulder, and Aelin tries to force her own breath out.

Breathing in is harder, but Rowan's scent fills her nose and loosens the binds on her lungs. Soon, Aelin is doing the exercises independently, and Rowan nuzzles his face into her neck. His hands snake under her bump and lift some of the pressure, easing more of her tension.

"There you are," Rowan kisses her cheek as Aelin comes back around. "Are you okay?"

Aelin shakes her head and sinks into his arms. "Can you take me back to bed?"

Her legs feel like jelly, and her stomach is weak from turning. Rowan lifts her with ease. His arms are warm, and he murmurs sweet nothings into her ear as he carries his mate back to their bed.

"Adelia?" Aelin looks around for their daughter.

Rowan pulls back the duvet and reveals the sleepy from nestled right into the middle of the pillows. "She fell back asleep quickly."

"I can't believe Ress told her those things," Aelin can feel a tear slipping down her face. Ress had never forgiven her for her days as Celaena. Darrow had grown to accept her, but Ress never warmed up to having Aelin as his queen despite her efforts.

She hadn't realized the extent his hatred went.

Rowan scowls as he lays Aelin down next to their daughter. "Ress is young and foolish. I have forgiven a lot of his hostility and ignored most of his juvenile antics, but Aelin, I can't forgive this."

"He should never have said those things to Dell." Ress's words linger in her head. She tried to do right by her title and live up to her parent's legacy. Aelin took a lot of pride in listening to the demands of her people and tending to their problems personally. But the odds of Ress being the only one to feel this way are slim. Did they wish she'd never returned? Was she arrogant to take the crown just because it was her inheritance? She'd never had the formal training as ruler and relied a lot on Rowan to help manage foreign affairs. Despite the loss of her fire, many still feared her and considered her a murderer. No matter how hard she tried, Aelin's history as Adarlan's Assassin proceeded her.

Tears burn Aelin's eyes, and Rowan's scowl deepens. "He should have never spoken of you like that at all."

Aelin shakes her head, "It's his right to think what he wants. Maybe he has a point."

"No." Rowan growls, and Dell flinches in her sleep. Taking a deep breath, Rowan softens his voice. "He's wrong, Aelin. Ress was wrong to scare Dell, and he has no right to demean everything you've sacrificed. You've suffered for your people."

"I closed the lock because I had to Rowan," Aelin argues. "That doesn't automatically make me a good queen. What if I'm failing?"

Rowan pulls their duvet up to Aelin's chin, and Dell instinctively snuggles to her mother's side. Her daughter was a leach for warmth, and Aelin could feel her remaining flames writhing in her veins agitated.

"You are a wonderful ruler, Fireheart." Rowan bends down and kisses her lips reverently. "I've met my fair share of emperors, kings, and queens. None of them have given up so much to better the lives of their people. They care for you in return."

Rowan steps away from the bed, and Aelin makes a displeased noise. "Where are you going so early in the morning."

"I'm awake now. I feel like a flight through Oakwald. Go to sleep, and when you wake up, I'll bring my females breakfast," Rowan pulls on a plain white tunic. "Sleep, love. You both need your rest."

Rowan can read her too well. Aelin can feel her eyes drooping despite how much she wants to deny it. "Very well, but there better be tea and pastries."

As Aelin drifts back to sleep, she swears that a mischievous smile passes across her mate's face.

"Aelin," Maeve twirls a lock of blonde hair in her fingers. "Where are the keys?"

Cairn twists the blade in her thigh again, and Aelin screams, "screw yourself."

Aelin writhes beneath the pain and the dark queen's gaze. Her torturer goes to twist the blade again, but Maeve holds up a hand. "Wait. There is a smarter way to go about this."

"I won't tell you anything," Aelin gasps, the blood seeping from her thigh pools onto the table. "There is nothing you can do."

"Not even to spare the princess?" Maeve smiles as the cell door opens. Connall walks into the room, a squirming girl in his arms.

"Let me go," the girl screams, and the air in the room turns frigid. Her blonde hair whips around as she twists and fights. The little girl's head turns, and she freezes when she catches sight of Aelin. "Mama?"

"Adelia?" Aelin asks, confused. "You can't be here. You aren't supposed to be here." With renewed energy, Aelin thrashes against her bonds and bares her teeth at Maeve.

Maeve takes Adelia from Connall and strokes her hair. "Such a pretty one."

"This isn't real," Aelin hisses. "I wasn't pregnant when you took me. Adelia was born in Terresan."

Maeve hums a sympathetic note, "It seems you're confused." Aelin fights as the dark queen sits with a frozen Adelia in her lap. "Begin again, Cairn."

A hot iron is lain against Aelin's neck, and Adelia's screams rattle the stone chamber.

Aelin wakes with a gasp. Her chest is seizing in uncontrollable fits, and little hands cup the sides of her face.

"Mama?" Adelia's concerned face hovers over Aelin's. "Why are you crying?"

Relief washes over her at the sight of her daughter, safe and sound. She tries to take deeper breaths, but her body fights against her. The baby in her womb squirms uncomfortably. Aelin feels guilt that they are so subject to her moods. She tries to open her mouth to speak, consol her frightened daughter, but Aelin can't get any words out.

"Daddy!" Dell screams, frightened tears gathering in the corner of her eyes.

Rowan bursts through the door, "Dell?"

Adelia sniffles and kisses Aelin's face sadly, "Daddy, what's wrong with Mama?"

Aelin grabs at her chest, trying to ease the tightness there. She was scaring her daughter. What kind of mother would do that? Rowan sits beside her, and a cool wind goes up her nose and fills her lungs.

"Fireheart," Rowan lifts Adelia and sits beside her. "Is this a sick day?"

It was the code they'd come up with for the days when the past came back to haunt them. When the turmoil in their mind forces their bodies to rebel, and they can't seem to put on their usual facades. It used to shame Aelin, the days she couldn't rise from bed and do her duty. But her mate's unwavering love soon cracked that lie and eased her burden. Rowan had convincing arguments. Aelin's people needed their queen at her best, and on sick days, she wasn't able to give that to them. Their court was strong. They wouldn't allow Terresan to fall while she recovered. Aelin deserved time to heal.

Rowan must have been able to tell that she wouldn't be able to settle herself this time as his winds continued their push and pull in her chest. "Yes," she rasps dejectedly.

Dell buries her face into Rowan's shoulder. Her mate rests a hand on the side of her face and soothes her cheek. "To whatever end, Aelin. We will get through this just as we do everything else."

Rowan kisses the side of Dell's face. "Little love, do you think you can go to the kitchens and have someone bring Mama tea?"

That fae instinct to fuss rears its head in their child. Adelia perks up at the opportunity to do something useful. "Yes!"

Rowan sets her on the floor, and she takes off in a blur of untamed hair and swishing skirts. They wince as a gust of wind slams the doors of their chambers against the wall.

"She's a handful," Rowan talks, aware of the soothing effect his voice has on her. "But we always knew our children would be. I can't wait to see what kind of chaos our son brings into our lives."

Aelin wraps her arms around him as the remnants of her dreams finally fade away. "You think it's a boy?"

"I know so," Rowan pinches her side, and Aelin smiles. He'd also been confident that their first child would be a girl. His smugness after Adelia's birth was unbearable.

"Rowan," Aelin whispers. "Can we just lay here today?"

"I could never deny you anything," Rowan leans against their headboard and kicks off his shoes. "You don't need to ask, Aelin. It's okay to take time for yourself."

"What if I'm just proving Ress right?" The insecurity slips from her lips before she can stop them. "What if there is someone more capable?"

"Ress won't be a problem anymore," Rowan rests a hand against her bump, and the baby withing kicks at it, bringing a smile to his face.

Aelin narrows her eyes, "What have you done?"

"Nothing that anyone will blame me for," Rowan assures. "He would be in a lot more trouble if the rest of the court learned what he said in front of Dell. Ress should be grateful I didn't do a lot worse."

Aelin sighs, "I don't understand why I can't just let it all go. Why do I allow myself to be so haunted?"

"It's not that simple," Rowan shakes his head. "I'm hundreds of years old, and no matter how many years pass, there are things from my past that haven't healed. The mind is different from the body, and sometimes it takes longer for it to recover. There is nothing wrong with that. You gave up everything for the people you loved."

"Because I had to," Aelin contradicts.

A hardness comes over Rowan, "because no one else could."

Rowan rolls over her body into a plank and looks deep into her eyes. "No one else that day would have made the same sacrifices out of love. Not even me. I was too selfish to let you go. You gave up everything, and by the strength in your soul, you came home to me. In all my decades, I have never met someone so remarkable, and I never will again. Take as many years as you need to recover, Aelin. This world owes a debt to you, and I will make sure it pays. You deserve every happiness."

His hand threads through one of hers and drags it up to rest on the bump between them.

Happiness.

Dell darts back into their room, a cup of tea sloshing in her hands as she runs. "Daddy, I put extra sugar in it. Uncle Fen is coming with more cups, but I made this one special."

Rowan pulls away from her, and the laughter on his face is contagious.

Aelin smiles and accepts the tea from Dell's hands. She even manages a few sips without cringing from the sweetness. Fenrys follows behind her shortly and sets a fresh cup covertly on her bedside table.

There may be hard days, Aelin realizes as her family gathers around her, but the love they showed her every day made it all worth it.

Darin smirks and draws you in his arms. Presses your ear against his heart. Before he can say anything like the cheesy one liner that must be on the tip of his tongue, you punch him in the side.

Are you wearing the clothes properly? Kallas is very particular about her outfits and it would be such a waste for you to rip something while climbing, jumping or whatever it is you do when you jump out of the window. Clothes should also fit the purpose and body type of the wearer. So, will ask if you are lacking proper clothes and offer to go shopping with (or without you).

“We could have matching ones! Compliment each other in every way.” Her eyes get wide and she smiles when taking your hand. Almost vibrating with excitement.

“I’d let everyone else know how beautiful you are. It’s such a shame you have to hide every time you wear that drab outfit.” She eyes your ‘working’ outfit with distaste.

“Just..” you stop and think how to frase it, so it will not be so stupid, “something nice to wear when it’s just the two of us?” Kallas smiles, brighter than the sun and kisses your cheek softly.

“Anything you want, love.”

Hede

You have shared most of your stuff through your childhood. When you get together romantically and share a room, all of your clothing is in piles and mixed with each other. Whose shirt was it in the beginning? Doesn’t matter, it’s shared property now. Hede (regardless of gender) is tall, thin with long limbs so if you have much difference in body type it will be either hilarious or sweet. Croptops and shirts past knees, anyone?

The only things that are still your own are your weapons, a box full of mementos etc, your armor/’uniform’. And your masks.

Ora

In summary:

Takes a while to notice. They are so used to seeing themselves and everyone else in the most basic outfits of undyed linen and wool or the livery of the King. If you are sneaky and wash the things you could probably carry on wearing their clothes indefinitely. For someone who's really good at lists and organizing things for everyone else they are rather blind to those they trust. If you make a point of wearing it openly, maybe give a hint or two, Ora will blush and stammer something.

“Why do you need the feel to take mine? I’m sure your own clothes are much better anyway,” Ora looks at you, face stern but a blush covering their cheeks at your continued grinning. You loop your arms around their shoulders, bringing your noses together.

“It smells like you. It feels like you’re there hugging me even when you run around the place like it will fall for ruin if you don’t handle everything yourself.” You say and the blush stays but now Ora sneaks their arm around your waist, hugging you closer.

“I hope you take the clean ones at least.”

Morning Chase (Sunday Mornings) (Dad! Draco Malfoy)

This is just pure fluff!

Enjoy family time at Malfoy manor!

Here's part 2

Weekends at the Malfoy's were reserved solely for family. Especially the Sundays.

On Sundays there was no work, though the young parents wouldn't even have to go to work at all with the Malfoy and (L/n) fortunes combined. No special plans or duties. Just family. Maybe his parents, your parents or your siblings (if you don't have siblings just ignore the sibling part) would pay you a visit, but that didn't happen too often. Family visits were more of a Saturday afternoon thing after all.

Typically, it was quiet inside the manor when the sun rose and the first rays of light shone through the curtains in the master bedroom on a Sunday morning. At this time of day, Draco and (Y/n) Malfoy were usually still asleep. Her form nuzzled into his chest, their legs entangled. From time to time, their son would sleep in their bed as well, cuddled up in between the couple, basking in the warmth and comfort they provided. However, most nights from Saturday to Sunday the boy would sleep in his own room.

When the sunlight would finally find its way through a slit in the heavy curtains, it would oh so often gently dance across Draco's nose and the rest of his face. This would cause him to pull you closer and hide his face in your hair or his pillow in order to escape the light, which was sure to blind him slightly if he dared to open his eyes. Eventually, the stirring and shuffling of your husband would wake you. On days like these you would pull each other closer, still half asleep when you'd hear the sound of a door opening and closing down the hall, followed by the pitter patter of small feet and thereafter, the noise of the wooden bedroom door squeaking as it was opened, the small footsteps resuming.

Seeing as your face was practically buried in Draco's chest, you were certain he felt the smile that made its way onto your face when you felt the mattress dip slightly, due to the little boy who was climbing onto the bed. Soon there was a lot of shuffling surrounding you and you could feel the light weight of your darling son shift around on top of you as he climbed over you as carefully as he could manage. Once he had succeeded in stepping over you, he'd try to squeeze his small form between the two of you. A quiet chuckle resonated from where your head was placed and you finally opened one of your eyes. Your (e/c) eye meeting a pair of silver irises. Those he had inherited from his father, no doubt, just like the hair and nose. "Good morning sweetheart, did you sleep well?" you smiled at him as you opened your other eye as well, caressing the soft skin of his cheek with one hand as you untangled yourself from your husband, to make some space for the boy. "Good mornin mummy! I slept well!" He returned your greeting gleefully and engulfed you in a hug, which you returned immediately. Fingers gently running through his soft platinum hair. Draco admired the two of you, adoration filled his gaze as he watched you engage with each other, sometimes he was still baffled how he had made it this far. It happened often that he questioned himself about how he possibly deserved you and why you had decided to give him a chance back then. Why you had chosen to stay with him of all people, a bully and former death eater. He couldn't help but wonder how he deserved such a perfect, loving little family. But it didn't matter how and why, all that really mattered was that he had the two of you and that he'd give everything in his power to keep you safe and happy- His thoughts were cut off when he was pulled back to reality by his son "Daddy!" the smaller looking version of Draco must've just noticed that his other parent was awake as well, so he left your embrace to jump into his father's arms. "Scorpius!" Your husband exclaimed, he sat up rather quickly, just in time to catch the child in his arms. A loud, rather overdramatic "OOF!" fell from the blonde's lips as he let himself fall backwards into the bed again, but not before emitting another over exaggerated groan. The young Malfoy held onto his father as he squealed in delight. You yourself couldn't help but giggle at the scene before you. You were absolutely bedazzled with the way your two boys interacted. You watched as a sly smirk crossed Draco's features, he whispered something to Scorpius, all the while keeping his steely gaze directed at you. The way your son's lips curled up into a huge grin as he took in whatever it was that your husband instructed could only mean mischief. You decided to play along, after all Sundays were for family. So you got up cautiously, two pairs of eyes trained on your every move as you sprinted out of the room and through the house. Your son's laughter could be heard somewhere not so far behind you. You were quick to hide in the playroom, a place where you knew they'd surely find you. It was a game after all and not one you intended to win. You were right because after a few minutes the door to the playroom opened and you came face to face with Scorpius. Just as he was about to call for his dad you pressed a gentle finger to his lips " Hey buddy, how about we do whatever you and daddy have planned for me, to daddy?" He seemed to ponder for a moment before a grin appeared on his lips and he nodded "DADDY! I FOUND MOMMY IN THE PLAYROOM!" Not even 10 seconds later the love of your life stood in the door frame, a mysterious glimmer in his eyes as he approached you. Then from one moment to the next you were scooped up bridal style in the man's arms "We've got you now!" a cocky smirk was plastered on his face, yet his eyes were full of affection. Grey eyes you could always get lost in. He raised an eyebrow in amusement, that act effectively ripped you from your trance and was also your clue to start acting distressed. So you did.

"No! Please let me go!" you laughed, thrashing around in his arms, but Draco didn't budge, he just held onto you tighter, by doing so he restrained you from your little play fight and just carried you back to the bedroom where he threw you onto the king-sized bed. "Never!" he played along and trapped you under his body. Scorpius let out a joyful laugh and when he saw you wiggle your eyebrows at him and then shift your gaze to his father, he took the hint and tackled Draco with all his might. Having caught the man off guard he actually lost balance and rolled off you, the groan leaving his throat this time was an authentic one "Scorpius, you can't just betray me like that!" The adult whined. Needless to say, you hadn't expected your son to do that either, he was always such a gentle soul, which is why you were taken by surprise for a moment. The realization that the tackle attack actually happened and your husband's reaction to it caused you to wheeze and roll around the bed because you had found it so funny. "Oh, so you think this is funny, do you?" Draco frowned. "Yes" you took a deep breath before your laughing continued, tears forming in the corner of your eyes from the fun you were having "Yes I think this is hilarious" A smaller hand pulled on your fingers to get you to stop laughing, a bright, flashing smile belonged to the owner of the small hand "Come on mommy, help" You tried to compose yourself as you watched the four-year-old climb onto your husband's chest and start tickling him. As soon as you managed to calm down and gained control over your breathing back, you joined in and helped with tickling Draco, who laughed and wiggled around to escape, until he declared surrender "I give up! Please stop, I yield! I yield!" ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ Sunday mornings were quality time spent together. Sunday mornings meant relieving the house elves of their duty to prepare breakfast and to try yourself instead. Those days stood for a mess in the kitchen and big smiles on everyone's faces. Sunday mornings were reserved for family breakfast and tabletop games. For story time and cuddles on the large living room couch. Sunday mornings were followed by family lunch and Sunday afternoons. ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎

Hi! Could I please request headcanons with the Durins, Bofur, Dwalin, Legolas, Elrond and anyone you'd like to add (or take out, sorry if that's too many characters) with a reader that tics? Like sometimes, random sounds slip out of them and they repeat them periodically for like a minute or so? Or sometimes hand movements or little gestures? I feel kinda embarassed of mine, so it would really help me. Thank you (also I read the nail polish headcanons and I loved them, you're amazing!)!

Tics (Thorin's Company x reader)

Thorin

At first, our king under the mountain doesn't know what to think

Surely he didn't hear you squeak...

To be honest, he thought you were doing it to annoy him, since your first interaction, you might have gotten off on the wrong foot 😅

And it wasn't the easiest to explain to Thorin, knowing he can be a tad thick-headed sometimes

It took a while to help him comprehend and had never seen it in your light

He understands now though, and has the most patience you have ever seen

He's never been more understanding to one person, even with his stubborn and sometimes grumpy demeanor

Thorin knows you can't help it, which is why he's instantly overprotective of you

If anyone dares make one comment, he's on their case like CRAZY

"Y/N can not help it, gilthock!"

"If you improperly console with her/him/them again, you'll face the wrath of my kin."

When the company was being chased down by Beorn, your tics were triggered and the great skin-changer could hear you from inside, clawing at the door with fury

You felt terrible, not able to contain the short exclamations and noises slipping from your mouth

But Thorin sent an icy glare to anyone who tried to hush you or tell you to keep it down

He's constantly reminding you that it's not your fault, and has become like a fatherly figure to you... Or perhaps, something more 😉

Fili and Kili

Unsurprisingly, both are also very confused little princes

Fili seems to have a bit more understanding of the seriousness of the situation, or at least maturity

(He is next in line to be king after all)

It took a while for them to adjust, since they'd never met anyone with tics before

One night, as you all sat down by the fire, the company grew a bit rowdy, which became stressful for our poor Y/N

Your tics were triggered easily by then with short yelps, and lines of curses that even made bofur blush

Ofc, you couldn't control it, but since the company had little idea of what was going on

the two brothers were quick to rush to your aid, rubbing a hand on your back as you let out a frustrated groan

"What's wrong with her, Oin?"

"I'm not sure. Is it a curse?"

"Probably dark magic!" Dori gasped

You just shook your head and managed to explain your predicament through tics that annoyed the absolute shit out of you

and embarrassed you as well >:(

After that, the princes were stuck to you like flies to honey

They would always ride their ponies by yours, offer to carry your bags, spend all day cheering you up

And more often than not, you would become less stressed and the thought of your tics would float away in the wind 😌✨

Hell, they even stood up to their own uncle after he continued to press some stressful questions about your unfortunate condition

Even if Fili and Kili are both very aware of the randomness of your outbursts, they still treat you as a normal part of the company

They'd hate for you to feel "out-of-place" as Kili put it, in their traveling party

You are so important to them both, and they'd never let you get hurt

Bofur

Meet Mr. Comedic relief

Whenever Bofur had first met you, he giggled at your little tics

Of course, he'd never meant to make you feel bad, he just thought they were absolutely adorable

Sometimes he playfully teased you about it, and that certainly didn't make you feel better

One night, he had gotten the others in the company to join him in his seemingly harmless jesting,

You just forced out laughter, hoping to convince them that you too, thought it hilarious

But after everyone had fallen asleep by the dying fire, your quiet sobs and tics were what stirred bofur

He came over and asked what was wrong, apparent worry shining in his deep brown eyes

So, reluctantly, you explained why you had little outbursts

Bofur felt awful

"Oh...oh. Oh I'm so sorry lass/laddie/leddie! I never meant any harm!"

He wrapped his huge arms around you in a big bear hug

Bofur never wanted to make anyone feel bad about themselves, especially you (his favorite member of the company 🥺)

"It's okay Bo. It's not your fault that they happen."

It takes a while for you to convince him he's not at fault, and once you do, he's never reluctant to approach you and spark up a silly conversation 😊

He has THE BEST stories

Is very good at keeping your thoughts away from your tics and cheering you up during stressful or upsetting situations

You call him "Bofur-Bear" 🥺

And he adores you so much

He doesn't really know how to react when you have ongoing outbursts, that go on for a minute or two

So he makes really corny jokes and stupidly hilarious innuendos that extract giggles from you while your having an episode

He will never let you go 🥴👉👈

Dwalin

Dwalin is, in some ways, like Thorin

Except 10x more grumpy 🙄

That's okay though, because we still love him 🥰

SUPER confused

At first, he was kinda rude :/

Said it was "disturbing to his duties"

tHAT HURT-

But one night, in the quiet of Rivendell, after everyone else had fallen asleep, you walked around the kingdom to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the elvish land

Dwalin had followed you, and when he called your name, you jumped in surprise, and it sparked a string of swearing

His eyes widened in shock in first, and then some incredible happened

He smiled :)

Just a tiny little grin, that was hardly noticeable under his thick mustache, but a smile nonetheless

"I didn't know ya' could use yer mouth like that."

You grumbled and turned back to the balcony, trying to rid yourself of his company

Regardless, he took heavy steps next to you, and slapped a thick hand against your back, as a friendly gesture

"Why are being so nice to me all of a sudden?" You asked incredulously

Dwalin sighed, but before he could answer, you yelled and slapped your hands against the marble railing

"I hadn't meant ta upset ya' that much."

You just shook your head, and proceeded to describe to him what was really going on

After that, Dwalin was silent, but gave a quick nod

He still needed time to really let the information seep through his thick head

You thought you had scared him off at first, but as your journey continued on, Dwalin actually grew closer than before

Whenever an enemy was nearby, he would look for you first, and place you behind h, out of harms way

Extra dinner? Dwalin made sure you were the first to get second portions, despite your humble protests

He gets teased by the rest of the company, and though he'll never openly admit it, he's grown very fond of you 🥴

He's not really the best at picking up on your social cues, like if he's being way overprotective

Though he tries his best, he also won't can't treat you like a regular person, more like someone who's physically injured

"Come on, Y/N let me carry ya'"

"Dwalin, seriously, I'm fine, I know how to walk-"

*picks you up anyways*

Overall, very sweet, just a bit excessive sometimes 😅❤

This was so cute and funny! I love how F. T. Lukens takes the chosen one trope and just plays with it and turns it on its head. You have the chaotic group of questers (chosen one, mage, bard, knight, rogue, guard), but instead of beginning as they are setting out on a quest, the story begins at the end, immediately after the quest has been completed. The moment where everyone looks around at each other and goes, "Now what?" In some ways, this is a found family story of a reluctant king and his loyal friends getting on their feet and fumbling their way into figuring out how to rule the kingdom they took back from the evil wizard. In many ways, this is a book about pining. Arek is quite obviously pining for his best friend Matt. Matt is pining for Arek. It's quite obvious from the first pages. Since they're both oblivious idiots, however, it takes them rather a while to figure things out. The writing was clever and funny, and it was easy to just let myself flow along with the story and enjoy it. It's fun. I recommend it when you need to laugh and find yourself craving oblivious idiots pining for each other over hundreds of pages. (What, just me?) *Thanks to NetGalley and Margaret K.
