i cannot believe Sesshōmaru actually said, straight to Inuyasha’s face, “The one that killed Kikyo was Naraku, and the one who wasn’t able to save her was you, Inuyasha.”
I AM REELING. had to cover my eyes—pause the tv. idk how Inuyasha will ever recover.

Opinions on how the Bll characters would react when you tell them that you’re afraid that you’re holding them back? And you know the ‘you deserve better’ insecurities.
omgomg I love this 🥹🫶
includes: Bachira, Isagi, Kunigami, Rin, Chigiri and Nagi
warnings: angst, hurt comfort (if I labeled that right..)
Tumblr media
Bachira Meguru
He’d be real sad that you even thought about that in the first place
It makes him think to himself if he never gave you enough reassurance or showed his appreciation to you
He’d want you to tell him why you felt that way in the first place and hopefully, you two could come to an understanding. He was big on communicating.
“I can’t keep holding you back, Meguru,” you whisper pitifully, staring down at your hands that were enveloped in his. “You have to focus on your future.”
“What makes you think that, honey?” He asks gently. His heart aches to see you in this state and wishes he could take all your pain and put it on his shoulders. “Please tell me.”
“You’re so close to reaching your dream and becoming pro and it feels that I’m the one who is stopping you from pursuing and taking the spot on the national team. If it were my fault that you didn’t go, I’d hate myself.”
“Do I make you feel that way..?”
“No!” You shake your head. “It’s me thinking that. I just don’t want to be that person who stops you from doing what you want most.”
“Darling..” his finger curls under your chin, tilting your head up. His yellow orbs staring into your own— your irises gleaming from the tears that fall. “If anything, you’re the reason why I’m pushing to go pro. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be where I’m at. I can’t do it without you. I need you with me.”
“R-Really..? You mean that?”
“Every word. You’re my rock and I can’t do this without you. Please don’t think you’re holding me back. You’re motivating me to be the best version of myself.”
Tumblr media
Isagi Yoichi
At first, he doesn’t believe you and thinks you’re joking but once he notices your tear-stained face he snaps out of it.
Isagi knows what it’s like to feel like you’re holding people back — he felt that way years ago when he played with his school team.
He feels that he’s not the best comforter with words but he knows that him being there for you and listening is more than enough — and you feel that way too
"I just can't stand the fact that I feel as if I'm holding you back from what you really want, Yoi. I feel like a burden"
And an arrow pierces right through his heart. His mouth is agape as he listens to you pour your heart out on the couch in the middle of the night. Prior, you were both enjoying a movie while cuddling when suddenly you said that you couldn't do it.
"You aren't a burden.."
"Then why do I feel like one?" you whimper, your sad eyes glaring into his own. "I feel like a failure of a girlfriend who can't even let her boyfriend do what he wants!"
Just like that, you break down in front of him for the second time that night. He hates the position he put you in. He never realized or never intentionally wanted you to feel this way. For all he knew, he felt that you guys were on the same page.
His ray of sunshine that could brighten up any dull room was now surrounded by dark grey clouds of doubt and insecurity.
"come here," he mutters, placing a hand on your shoulder and running it down your back, bringing you close to him. His other hand strokes the back of your head. His lips press against the top of your head, listening to your muffled cries.
"Listen, I know we both know I'm not the best comforter, but I'll always try my best to put a smile on your face. I don't want you to have these thoughts and I'm glad you could tell me. But know, I wouldn't be here without you, and damn won't continue without you."
Tumblr media
Kunigami Rensuke
when you approached him with a teary expression he immediately goes into protective mode. who did it? Where were they? does he know them? doesn't matter, he's gonna get to the bottom of it
but when you tell him what's upsetting you, he goes straight to comforting you and relieving you from the doubts surrounding your mind
"I know how much you worked and how far you pushed for this and I feel that you could reach your full potential without me here. I mean, maybe you have to go on without me and start a new chapter..."
"Is that how you truly feel?"
"yes," you whisper pitifully, refusing to meet his eyes. you aren't sure what he's thinking and honestly, you want to keep it that way. it would hurt too much to find out if he's looking down at you with disgust or thinking you're insane.
"look at me."
A small noise in refusal and a shake of your head is your response. He lets out a small sign and scoots closer to you, squeezing your bare thigh. "Come on, don't be that way."
"Why aren't you mad?"
"Mad?" he asks in confusion. "Why would I be mad?" His question now caught you off guard as you snap up to look at him. His eyes soften once he notices a tear trailing down the swell of your cheek and down your chin.
"Because I just implied I'm holding you back."
"So why would I-" he starts then silences. "Do you think this is the most important thing to me?"
"Kinda yeah.."
"No," he lets out a small chuckle, a smile breaking out onto his lips. "you got it all wrong."
"How?" you whisper. "It's basically your dream."
"My dream? Football is dandy and all but it's not going to be here forever. My real dream is to be able to spend every moment with you. You're the most important thing to me. Don't think otherwise."
Tumblr media
Chigiri Hyoma
when you tell him how you feel, he feels guilty and gets to the point where he almost starts crying with you.
he wants nothing more than to whisk you into his arms and calm you down and remove those awful thoughts away.
eventually, he's gonna need reassurance in the end since he feels he failed you as a boyfriend
"Are you holding back because you're worried about your leg? Or you don't want to go far because of me?"
That question caught him off guard when you guys were getting ready for bed. Never in his life had Chigiri thought that you would think something as silly as that. At least he never had a reason to think that, unless he gave you that impression.
Once that question was released into the air, it led to a discussion that ended with both of you crying. You were crying because you were apologizing for asking such and felt guilty for even thinking it. He was crying due to your crying.
He hated to see it. He wasn't an emotional guy, he was quite reserved for the most part. It was always guaranteed for him to cry when you did. It was like a trigger for him.
"I'm so sorry, my love. I never wanted to make you feel insecure. In fact, I'm supposed to do the opposite and make everything feel better."
“No, Hyoma, I’m sorry for asking that question. I don’t know what came over me to ask it but I’m sorry.”
His pink locks sway with the shake of his head. His hand brings the back of your head closer to his chest and suddenly you guys are starting to rock back and forth slowly.
“You have every right to be asking questions like that. Please don't apologize for asking. I'm not upset you asked it."
"Are you sure...?"
"yes darling," he whispers, his cheek pressing up against the crown of your head. "I'm sorry."
"Why are you apologizing to me?"
"Because I wish I never gave you that impression and wish you can see how much I can accomplish with you by my side. You're not going anywhere. I need you."
Tumblr media
Nagi Seshiro
hearing the words come out of your mouth distracts him from his game which results in him turning it off and looking at you in disbelief
he wasn't sure if you meant it actually considering you knew how lazy he was to do anything but regardless, he gave you his full undivided attention
"you deserve better than me."
"There's no one I want. I want you."
you sign, wiping your eyes with the back of your hand. "you're only saying that to make me feel better."
"Yeah that's kind of what I was going for, but I truly mean it. Believe me. I only want you." Nagi reaches for your hand, tugging you closer to his body. His hand trails down to your waist, giving a gentle squeeze.
"I don't want anyone else wearing my jersey and being my personal cheerleader. It makes me feel like I'm the best player in the world."
"You mean that...?"
"Mhm," he nods. "Without you, I don't know what I would be doing if I'm being honest. I'd probably be cooped up in my room and play games."
"You do that already..."
"Yeah, but this is different, honey. I'd be doing that alone and playing football. Doesn't that sound boring?"
"Well, I guess it does," you mumble, playing with the end of his shirt.
"What I'm trying to say is that there is no one else I want. There's no one who could replace you. You're my everything. I want to do all of those things, with you. Only you."
Tumblr media
Itoshi Rin
at first, he doesn't know what to do.
what you're telling him reminds him of how he felt all those years ago with his brother. Unlike you, Rin's support system was no longer present and he wouldn't put you in that same position.
"I'm just confused where you got this feeling from. Am I neglecting you?"
"No, Rin. It's just when I met you, football was all you ever spoke about. Hell, it was practically your life and even after we got together you talked about it when we were alone. I just feel that you can't achieve what you want with me here..."
And there it was.
After his brother had left him behind all those years ago, it still affects him today. He never knew he dragged those feelings with him into your relationship.
No doubt Rin felt anger when his older brother left. He had some regrets and the majority of those regrets were not telling his brother how it made him feel.
Did Rin have to leave you behind in order to grasp his dreams?
Suddenly all those feelings long ago washed over him. Guilt, sadness, and anger welled up in his head to the point where he was even suffocating in his own thoughts.
"I'm sorry," he whispers, looking down at his lap. "I never realized I put those thoughts into your head."
"It's okay, Rin. I know you didn't mean it."
"No, it's not okay." He looks back up at you, eyes sadden at your sorrowful expression. He reaches for your hand and gives it a gentle squeeze. "I know how you feel and it's awful. I never wanted you to feel the same way he made me feel."
"Rin..."
"I'm not him," he starts. "I don't want you to leave. I need you here with me. I want you at every game, wearing my jersey and screaming my name. You're my biggest supporter and I wouldn't change it for the world."

Let's Love Him, Together
Words: 2,321
Character: Hatake Kakashi & Nohara Rin
Pairings: Kakagai and GaiRin
Back home the palace garden is giant.
There’s a huge pond in the center with a maple tree towering so high that Rin had once believed her mother's tall tales of it reaching all the way up into the clouds. All types of flowers grew in the endless garden. Hydrangeas, wisteria, spider lilies, tulips. Those were only a small selection of the flowers she could recall growing up beside.
As a child she had found it easy to get lost in the garden for hours, just running around trying to identify all of the different plants that were growing there.
Standing in the middle of this other, much smaller, garden, she wondered if there were more than five plants in the tiny plots that surrounded a medium-sized pond.
“It’s…” she searched for the right thing to say, but none of the descriptors that came to mind were appropriate.
“Small?” the prince’s knight stepped up to her side. The entire walk to the garden he had followed behind her, directing her with short, quick instructions until they’d made it outside. Now that it seemed to be just the two of them, though, he stood at her side tall and proud.
Something that none of her guards would ever think to do.
“Small is a good descriptor,” she turned to face him and grinned. With him saying it she couldn’t be considered rude for simply agreeing. “Has it always been this small?”
“As long as I can remember, yes.” Rin raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t particularly odd to hear someone who worked in the castle say something like that, especially a royal guard. Something about the way he said it felt off, though. Rather than it being a simple statement of fact, there was a fondness in the words.
An emotion that she could only assume was attached to good memories, and while she hoped her future husband didn’t make his knights and servants' lives difficult she couldn’t imagine why any of them would hold such fondness for a place he would likely never have spent time on his own.
She knew it wasn’t her place to ask. As the prince’s future wife, she was still an outsider to the kingdom. Someone with no power outside of her own kingdom until the day she and the prince married.
Still, she couldn’t pass up the opportunity. After the marriage was completed she likely wouldn’t have a lot of time alone with the royal knight. He was Gai’s dedicated knight. The one assigned to protect the prince and no one else. His presence at her side without Gai was a rare opportunity.
One she simply couldn’t ignore.
“So-” she tried not to look his way, but she couldn’t help but glance to her side when he didn’t respond right away. “How long?”
The knight arched an eyebrow.
“How long has it been,” she clarified. “You’re about my age so, if this kingdom follows the same rules as mine you have been a knight since you were eighteen which would be…five years.”
“Seven,” he answered. “I was knighted at age sixteen, but that’s not what you’re asking. What you’re asking, I believe, is how long I’ve been in the castle,” cupping his chin between his forefinger and thumb, he glanced up to the sky. A thoughtful look if she’d ever seen one. “Well, almost all of my life really.”
Rin couldn’t believe what she was hearing. It wasn’t that it was out of the ordinary for servants to live within the castle, but there were always certain areas that were reserved for the royal family.
The garden was one of those areas. Only the gardener was permitted entry, or on special occasions, the servants of the castle would be permitted into the area to celebrate with the royal family.
“Ah, I’ve confused you,” he offered her a smile. “Sorry, allow me to elaborate,” stepping forward, he pointed to the single bench positioned just under a large maple tree that resembled the one in her own garden back home. “Choza-sensei used to hold out lessons there when it was nice outside.”
“Your lessons?” she frowned, growing more confused with each word he said. ‘You mean-”
“He would teach the Prince and I, yes.”
Wrapping her head around that information felt impossible. All of her life Rin had only shared her lessons with her siblings. She had friends among her servants just as Gai did, but she’d never have been allowed to share lessons with them.
Her parents would have laughed at her if she even suggested such a thing.
“Your Kingdom certainly is-” Once again she found herself searching for the right word. Something that couldn’t be considered insulting, but nothing came up.
“Strange?” the knight offered without hesitation. “Peculiar? Bizarre?”
Thinking about it, Rin nodded. “Yes, all of those.”
“You’re not the first to say so,” stepping to the side, he motioned toward the bench. A simple but obvious signal for Rin to take a seat. “Choza-Sensei himself argued against it, but the King insisted.”
Following his lead, Rin took a few short steps forward, turned to face him just as she reached the bench, and lowered herself onto it.
As soon as she was sitting down, a strange feeling washed over her. A comfort that she hadn’t experienced since she first stepped onto the ship bound for her future husband’s kingdom.
It was as if this spot, with all of its history, was telling her that she was safe.
That somewhere in this new, confusing Kingdom, she had somewhere to relax.
“It’s his favorite spot,” the knight continued, his voice full of tenderness as he looked upon the tree hanging over them. “Once a day he comes out here to relax.”
Rin frowned, suddenly feeling like she was encroaching on someone else’s space.
“No, please,” the knight protested when she began to stand. “I brought you here for a reason.”
Tilting her head, Rin felt her brows furrowing toward the center of her forehead. “What reason is that?”
“Well,” he paused, a thoughtful expression settling into his eyes as he stared at her. “I was hoping that it could be your place too.”
Rin’s brain screeched to a halt. “M-my place?”
“Yes,” he confined with a sharp nod. “You’ve been here for a week now and not once have I seen you relax. At least, not until just now.”
A week. For an entire week, he had been observing everything she did so closely that he’d picked up on her discomfort. Rin would usually be impressed with his observation skills if she wasn’t so upset with herself.
She was a Princess. From the young age of five, she had been taught how to stand, how to talk, how to present herself to others with confidence and calm, and most importantly she’d been taught to never allow her annoyance or stress to show in public.
Only one week in and she’d failed miserably.
“You’re stressing again,” the Knight spoke, a kind smile greeting her when she looked up at him. “Take a breath. The flowers may not be numerous, but they smell wonderful.”
Doing as he suggested, she closed her eyes and drew in a deep, calming breath. Immediately her nose was filled with the aroma of crisp autumn leaves and hydrangeas. Her concerns seemed to drift away with each passing moment, the scent pushing them off to the side until she could hardly remember what had been bothering her so much.
“There,” opening her eyes, she couldn’t help but let out a little puff of laughter when she saw the knight smiling at her. “That’s why he likes it here. He says all of his worries seem to wash away whenever he sits under this tree.”
Thinking about it, Rin chuckled. A real, proper laugh this time.
“Are you sure it’s just the tree?”
Now it was the knight's turn to look confused. “I don’t- I’m sorry?”
“The tree is nice,” she explained. “The garden is small, but calming. A good place for someone to collect their thoughts. But that’s not all there is.”
“What else is there, then?”
“You,” his eyes widened with shock and Rin found herself laughing more. The Knight who had been nothing but calm and collected since the moment she met him was suddenly overwhelmed by one simple word. “Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed the way he looks at you, or how he’s always asking for your opinion even though we both know he doesn’t need it.”
She had noticed.
It had been impossible to ignore. Every moment the two men stood in the same room together, Gai was always focused on his knight.
Anyone with eyes could see that the Prince was in love, and it was not Rin who had won his heart.
“I- well…” Panic began to set in, his eyes darting around the garden. Searching for prying eyes that might use this information against him or the Prince.
Jumping to her feet, Rin reached out and took hold of his arm. “Deep breath,” she repeated his words, grinning when he stared at her with fear in his eyes. “You are calming for him. Your presence is good for him, and I assure you I have no intention of doing anything to take it away.”
If she’d had a problem with it, she would have rejected the marriage as soon as she’d realized. Her parents may have been annoyed, but they would have understood. The choice was always her’s to make and they’d assured her of that from the moment they began negotiations.
“Anyways,” turning back toward the bench, she smiled. A small smile shared only with herself as she thought about the life ahead of her. There was still a lot for her to do before the wedding. Adjustments she had to make to her new life, things she had to learn about the castle and the people who worked in it, and time that she needed to spend with her future husband.
After all, his heart might belong to his precious knight but it was her that he’d be sharing a bed chamber with. She had her place in the castle and the Prince’s other attractions wouldn’t stop her from fulfilling that place.
“You belong here,” the Knight spoke, his words striking right at her soul where all of her fears were kept so perfectly hidden away. “It took a long time for him to choose someone he could be happy with. Someone he might come to love one day.”
Her smile grew as she listened. “And you think that’s me?”
“I know it is,” turning to look at him, she couldn’t help but gasp when she saw the tenderness in his eyes. “You say he loves me, but that feeling is not one-sided.”
“Then…why-”
“Because you’re good for him,” he answered without hesitation. “You’re good for this kingdom. At the end of the day, regardless of how I may feel, my duty to the kingdom and my Prince comes first.”
His emotions radiated off of him.
Love.
Devotion.
Determination.
Sadness.
“No,” she whispered, unable to ignore that overpowering sadness that seeped into his words. “I’ll only go through with this on one condition.”
It was something she’d never anticipated having to choose. A path that she’d never imagined for herself, even when she’d prepared herself for the possibility of marrying someone whom she would never truly love.
“And?” The knight prompted, staring at her with calculating dark eyes. “What is your condition?”
Stepping forward, she smiled up at him. “You love him.”
“I…” his eyes narrowed. “Don’t understand.”
“Love him,” she repeated. “Behind closed doors, where only the two of you and I know what is happening.”
Realization set in and his eyes flew open with shock. “Are you…you must be joking.”
“Not at all,” she answered with a confidence she’d been missing until this moment. For the past month as she prepared for her journey to the new kingdom, and thought about the impending wedding, she’d fretted that her marriage would end up like her parents.
Devoid of love or devotion, but full of duty.
There was nothing about her parent's marriage to be ashamed of, but it wasn’t what she wanted. An unhappy husband who would rather spend his time hiding away in the library, or entertaining guests, was not what she envisioned for her life.
“You love him,” she repeated. “And you tell me all about it so that one day, perhaps, I can love him as well.”
Two lovers. A Wife and a Knight.
It may not be the perfect arrangement for others, but Rin knew it was the one that would work for her.
“You’ll love him too,” The Knight assured her, tenderness returning to his eyes as he thought about the lover that they shared. “And He’ll love you too.”
Rin laughed at that. “I should hope so.”
“Without a doubt,” the Knight responded with the same confidence he had shown since the moment she met him. “He loves kindness and sincerity above all else, and you are both of those things and more.”
“You barely know me, dear Knight.”
“I know enough,” he assured her. “And it’s Kakashi.”
Rin tilted her head. “Kakashi?”
“My name,” he answered. “It’s only right for you to know my name if we’re to share a lover.”
Kakashi.
It sounded like a perfect name. A name full of dignity and respect.
“Then from now on we’ll do this together, Kakashi,” holding out a hand, she smiled when he stared down at it. “We’ll love him, together. Deal?”
Realizing what she was asking, he reached out and grasped her hand. It was something no one else would dare to do, and which he would never repeat where others could see them, but a small action which he granted her in this moment as they sorted out their futures.
“Deal.”

For the character ask: Amaimon (Blue Exorcist), Trein (Twisted Wonderland), and Maki (Fire Force).
Thank you so much for the ask, friend!!! Super excited to answer these :D (related to this post) It will be a long one, so under the cut she goes!!
Amaimon
1: sexuality headcanon: I think Amaimon is either bi or pan. He just...doesn't strike me as the type to care about what his partner is in terms of gender. Amaimon likes what he likes and that's just how it is.
2: otp: I don't know if I have a pairing with Amaimon that I feel strongly enough about to consider it an OTP. I have pairings I like with Amaimon, but for those characters I almost always have another pairing that I like better for them. And I don't think Amaimon would do well with polyamory. He's very selfish.
3: brotp: This is not canon. This is most definitely not canon. But I am *obsessed* with the idea of Amaimon actually doting on Rin after they get past the "tried to kill Rin/Shiemi/other exwires" issue. Like, to Amaimon, a demon, he really just wanted some entertainment. Gotta remember, he's NOT human, and to him "playing" is something totally different. So, it makes sense in my little world that once he realizes how strong Rin is, and that he can get Rin to "play", he wants to more and more, but also becomes a bit jealous and clingy. Maybe even protective? Anyway. This is why when I write him, I most often like writing him as a doting yet teasing older brother for Rin. And maybe Rin warms up to him eventually and really starts to enjoy being around him and trust Amaimon.
4: notp: Lucifer. Not as a friend, not as a lover (Again, they are demons; so remember, demons play by demon rules and not human ones) and not as a brother or 'bromance'. Why? Mainly because I dislike Lucifer, if I'm being honest. But also because I just don't see them being on good terms. I feel like Lucifer would be like "Listen to me" and Amaimon would flip him off and scitter around on the ceiling or something. Which is like, his attitude with Mephisto, except then Mephisto usually has a good counter, where I just don't think it would give the same delightfully funny vibe with Lucifer.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: Again this would be the "Amaimon not so secretly dotes on Rin and the only one who doesn't realize this is Rin" because it makes me happy. That's literally the main reason. It just makes me so happy.
6: favorite line from this character: "I have a cousin with a penchant for the occult who collects eyeballs". I don't know if I can explain this one. I just find it funny.
7: one way in which I relate to this character: I think what I relate to most for Amaimon is his impatience. I try my best to be patient, especially given my work, but there are some days I just want to lose it because nothing is going my way, or because I really wanted something and I don't get it. It sounds a bit childish of me, but Amaimon is childish too. I think part of why I like him so much is because he acts out his childish urges freely and I wish sometimes that I could do that.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: His hair spike. Amaimon, sweetie, why?
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? Oh, Problematic Fave, 10000%.
Trein
1: sexuality headcanon: honestly, I think Trein is gay. But he strikes me as someone who lost love once a long time ago and never tried to love like that again. I don't know, I just think sometimes there is a lot of sadness in his eyes. (I've played to the end of Book 6 Part One, so if there is backstory on Trein in the next part or chapters, I am unaware of it at this time)
2: otp: None. As I said, I kind of picture him as someone who did have someone, but then lost them. Maybe someday I'll write him a headcannon backstory about that love.
3: brotp: Trein is not 100% sure what this term means, but I like to think that some students saw him having tea with Crewel and now all the students know he's pretty close to Crewel and Crewel is his brotp.
4: notp: Crowley. Because I think Crowley would drive Trein into madness if they were anything other than colleagues.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: Well, friend, honestly it's our Bar AU headcannon of Trein Taking Care of Crewel By Sneakily Getting Him To Eat. I just like the idea of Trein realizes Crewel doesn't take good enough care of himself and is like "well, I guess I need to suddenly have a routine of having tea in the evening with biscuits or fruit as a snack and invite Crewel so he eats something". I also like the idea we had together that Vargas goes to Trein every time he tries to figure out how to interact with Crewel because he is Very Enthusiastic and Crewel is less so, and Vargas worries he is overwhelming his coworker. (Side note: Vargas = himbo is the best hc for Vargas ever! hehehe)
6: favorite line from this character: “Excellent. Keep up this hard work for the next time as well.” When Trein praises me, I am almost in tears. Getting his approval is Goals. lol
7: one way in which I relate to this character: Trein seems to like things done in particular ways and puts value in honour and tradition. I may not be so much for tradition, but I do get particular about how I like things done. And I get frustrated when I can't deliver to my own expectations.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: Nothing, really. I don't find anything about him, at this point, gives me second-hand embarrassment.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? I don't know if I would define Trein as either of these...lol, though if I had to choose I guess cinnamon roll? He seems like the type of person to be a bit tsundere to be honest.
Maki
1: sexuality headcanon: I headcannon Maki as straight. I don't know why, I just do. (You're probably thinking "what??? But she's one of your anime wives???", and I know. I know, it's odd. But she's a fictional character so I try not to read too hard into it)
2: otp: I don't actually have one for Maki. I really don't ship her with anyone in the show at this point, if I'm completely honest.
3: brotp: Hinawa. I feel like Hinawa and Maki have a really good understanding of each other and have this quiet support for each other going on behind-scenes. I really feel like Hinawa is probably Maki's closest friend in Company 8.
4: notp: Like I said, I don't really like shipping her with anybody in the show honestly, so I suppose that makes them all notp's in my eyes.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head: I think Maki was probably bullied as a child for being so strong. To me, this makes sense as to why she's so hung up on "not being feminine enough". Bullying is something that sticks with you long after the fact and preys on your mind.
6: favorite line from this character: I don't have a favourite line from Maki.
7: one way in which I relate to this character: I relate to Maki a lot about feeling insecure over my body/appearance. I also want to be seen as very feminine, so I get her discouragement and worry about coming across masculine.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character: The way she misinterprets even compliments about her strength to mean she's an "ogre" or "gorilla"; like...calm down? Literally no one said anything like that...
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? Cinnamon Roll! Maki is an absolute sweetheart!
Hope you enjoyed these answers, friend! I had fun writing them. (My computer started glitching out halfway through, though, so I had to save a draft and restart it, which is why it took me so long, lol!)

ᴀ/ɴ: omg why do I always understand the request fully after finishing it, I hope it does work tho anyways so like suna >>>>>>; I am glad you like my blog and I hope you like this and I am sorry it’s late 💕
Tumblr media
Suna suna who we never spell his name backwards
I believe a relationship with him would be endearing in a lovely way
I feel like his love language is quality time, acts of service and physical touch
Let me elaborate on the physical touch more:
I feel like suna just likes to hug you, hold hands with you, bury his face in your lap
Just makes him feel relaxed and lets him zone out freely
Another thing I think would happen in a relationship with him is something like this:
“Rin, I got you a gift!”
‘Oh my god she was thinking about me, she got me something, how is she so adorable, pls I just wanna squeeze her in a tight hug and kiss her all over, how dare she be this cute and loving’ multiply the speed of it by 4 and that’s his thoughts
“T-thanks, babe.”
#notusedtoaffection
That all came up to me because of the fact that Suna is more expressive through his thoughts and while he is quiet, his mind is thinking and saying a million of things
He l o v e s showing you videos and photos he took in training or matches
As an example is that one photo of Osamu shoving a sardine down Atsumu’s throat because he said he doesn’t need fish to get smart to which Osamu wholeheartedly disagreed about by the way because he said and I quote:
“YOU ARE LITERALLY THE DUMBEST FUCK AND THE FACT YOU DON’T EVEN EAT FISH BUT EAT SUSHI IS AN INSULT TO MINDS MORE INSULTING THAN YOUR EXISTENCE!”
Then suna will ever so casually show it to you like:
“Hey, y/n, look this.”
I am gonna be honest
I don’t think he is one for nicknames and the best you could get out of him is “babe”
A little suggestive part ahead but
Maybe princess or a mix of degrading and praising nicknames while you guys make love
Other than that, nothing other than just your precious and lovely name
I believe, suna also likes to hold pinkies
Cause you know it’s subtle but cute, and I see suna as one for subtle actions like a quick peck on the cheek before parting ways so you can go to class, making you a clumsy bento, keeping spare headbands for you
Maybe a little letter at the morning when he notices you seem down and even if you don’t
“Heads up, dummy, we are gonna see each other soon; I know you are strong and can get through whatever you are going through. Also you look nice and that bitch that said otherwise could screw right off - Rintarou, your boyfriend”
Ya know things like that
Maybe holding hands under the table when you guys are meeting up with someone or introducing him to your parents
He would sometimes get awkward when talking to people so holding your hand is comforting
If you are like observant and stuff or maybe mention how someone looks then I can see you guys as that judging couple but to a respectful extent
Related to that, is the fact he knows all the gossip in the school and just shares everything with you
“Turns out she was dating 3 guys at the same time.”
“Wow really, rin?”
He will always take photos of people with dumb filters and send them to you
I headcanon that suna wholeheartedly believes in the power of eskimo kisses
So like you could be chilling and laying down on the floor then a wild suna would appear from above you dangling his upper body off the bed and just *eskimo kiss* then will disappear into the wild once again like he never came
A jealous suna is an…interesting suna
He will just look at the person flirting with you intensely, sort of trying to copy that gaze of kita that puts everyone on the edge while they are in the game and are slacking off
But then want to assert dominance and just go stand between you both and be a salty and protective boyfriend
“Can you go away? You are polluting the air here.”
Another thing would be slipping his arm around your waist and basically ruin the person’s self esteem and rub it in the ground then their face
And before he acts and gets up and shows that person where their place is, he just keeps insulting the man in his thoughts until he has enough
‘Ew what’s the that banana styled hair.’
‘Are these plaid shorts?’
‘He has no sense of fashion.’
‘Look at that idiot peanut butter head trying to flirt with my girlfriend, wow; how enchanting and attractive’
He once saw you wearing his jersey
He couldn’t function that well the rest of the day
“SUNA CONCENTRATE ON THE MATCH, COME ON!”
“Shut it it, Atsumu; I wanna go back to y/n.”
SUNA LIKES TO CUDDLE YAY
My rosey six sense tells me that he likes to bury his face in your stomach and basically lay on top of you
He likes to be held by you, whatever will you do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
His sister loves you a lot like a lot a lot, you are her favorite woman on earth, after her mother of course
She likes to share embarrassing stories of him with you, payback for what he does to her when he feels mischevious
You people team up on him when wanted cause ✨girl power✨
COFFEE DATES YAY
You guys really like that one cafe around the school, it’s a cafe known for couples too
Despite that, it’s known for its cozy, warm and quiet atmosphere
So you guys like going there when you have time after school
Suna gets a bit smug and of course appreciative when you attend his games
He was truly happy the first time you did
Cue the train of thinking he has followed by a nonchalant “oh, y/n is here.”
Puts just a little bit more effort in his plays when you do appear so he can impress you
I can see him just squishing your cheeks, I don’t know why
But he would just squint at you while squishing your cheeks, it’s like he is playing with a stress ball
No matter if they are chubby or not and if you don’t have that much of cheeks then he will just stretch them but not to the point they hurt cause he cares for you, obviously
The team likes you btw, they are all just “woah suna has a girlfriend and she is nice too.”
Atsumu tried to flirt with you when he first met you (without knowing you were taken let alone suna’s girlfriend) but then has received a grim reminder to ask before doing anything
Osamu likes tasting food with you
Aran thinks you are great for suna
Kita approves of the relationship
Ginjima is your biggest shipper
When you visit practice, everyone greets you ever so energetically within the limit of their energy and continue with training
You also sometimes help them with training like filling their bottles and stuff
Suna gets a kiss whenever there is a break but just a quick one cause I don’t think he is much for pda unless he feels like showing off
Like when he is jealous
Cause you are his after all 🙄

Why do I ship SNS?
It is a known fact that when people experience a good media, they like to discuss various things they liked, hated, interpret what the creator trying to say and get something from what they have consumed. Eventually people end up in a shipping war if there are multiple possibilities.
I started watching Naruto on a whim, hoping to see some ninjas in action with some revenge as a background (after all when you have power, there will always be a revenge). Am a sucker for revenge, btw. I am a person who hates romance in media. Because, every movie, book, novel, series has this same recycled romance plastered into every story even though the story don’t need at all. So, I am very tired of it. Every media portrays romance as something inevitable, necessary and something we can’t live without. That’s wrong.
Usually, romance goes like this... Person A sees Person B... they hate each other and add some possessiveness, jealousy... they magically gets attracted through some shared experiences eventually... they kiss and make babies. There’s nothing wrong with this. It’s just very tiring as I’ve seen million forms of this same repeated trope. I always cringe and yell “Can you give us something different? Grrr.....”.
And also, my motto is that love can happen with any person. It can’t be restrained into certain boundaries. So, I don’t like to put some relationship under an umbrella called Gay, Lesbian, Straight or whatever. Of course, illicit relationships and incest are not normal and am not okay with it.
With all that being said...
My experience after watching the Shippuden series until episode 478 was “Wait, do they love each other?”. I know am very late to realize this, but I have never even viewed them with any romantic lens throughout.
On my first watch, I was always under the impression that “They are friends”... But there are certain moments I felt “Wait, why are they doing like this which could’ve been handled in a different way!!” I will get to this later in this post. But those moments were overlooked by me because of my curiosity of “What happens next ??”.
And on my rewatch, it only confirmed my view.
The other popular ships like SS and NH put forth many points to invalidate what SNS represents. The most common being “They are reincarnated brothers” or  “They are best friends”. Am just going to debunk them from my point of view.
Naruto and Sasuke are like brothers.....
Nope.
The best brotherhood title, in this series, should officially go to Itachi and Sasuke.
Tumblr media
You can argue as much as you want that Itachi mindfucked Sasuke and killed his parents....yaada yaada....
It is repeatedly shown why Itachi put a curtain on his own clan. The reason is, Uchiha clan decided to forcefully take over the village. No matter how much innocent you are, you cannot take over something with force. Dot. I will write about this in a separate post.
In short, Sasuke realised how his clan members were wrong after hearing the story from the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. That’s why he openly proclaimed “I am going to protect Konoha and become Hokage”.
Back to the topic, Itachi and Sasuke are blood brothers. If I ship them both, then what you claim is very valid.
The above gif says, “Sasuke, I know, I made a mistake by filling you with hatred. But whatever you decide to do from now on, I will love you always”. Meaning, He stopped treating Sasuke as a kid and accepts that Sasuke has his own path to walk.
This is exactly how brothers behave. I would do the same to my kid sister. You can see a fraternal instinct from Itachi’s eyes realizing that this is their last time together.
Another thing, Brothers trope always has this hierarchy.... Protect the younger sibling no matter what. It is evident from Madara/Izuna and Hashirama/Tobirama.
Not convinced?
Tumblr media
If you pull the Indra and Ashura bullshit, let me tell you one thing. Indra and Ashura were separated and formed their own clan long ago. They eventually branched off into Uchiha and Senju clans. No way you can relate a century old blood relation as brothers. It’s just their chakra got reincarnated over and over.
Don’t pull up an incest angle between Naruto and Sasuke. Because they never shared a womb. Dot.
Naruto and Sasuke are Best Friends only.
You know what, you are almost right. I thought that for a very long time. Remember I never wore any shipping goggles ON.
There are two types of best friend categories. Best Friends without a reason and Best Friends through rivalry.
Best Friends without a reason in Narutoverse are: Shikamaru/Choji.
They just became friends and became BFF. They won’t fight or hurt each other. But when you have something to share...you would go to that person and share everything honestly.
Best Friends through Rivalry: Kakashi/Obito, Hashirama/Madara, Naruto/Sasuke
I really cannot provide more proof for the first two pairings as Best Friends as it is not the scope of this post. Although the latter two also qualifies for shipping category. Why?
Because, the common thing among them is that all the three Uchihas awakened/reawakened their Sharingan for their best friend. But Hashirama/Madara and Naruto/Sasuke are the only pairings to awaken or evolve Sharingan when trying to break their bonds with each other.
Special Brownie points for Madara. He had 4 brothers and lost 3 but still couldn’t awaken his Sharingan but when trying to break up with Hashirama, his eyes were brimming red.
Tumblr media
Sasuke’s Sharingan matures in the first Valley of The End.
Tumblr media
That’s why I excluded Hashirama/Madara and Naruto/Sasuke from this Best Friends list.
Because to the both Uchihas, the other person meant something special which cannot be comprehended into a mere term called ‘Best Friends’.
Which is exactly why Kakashi/Obito would perfectly fall into this category.
The way they quarrel, fight with each other, protect each other are perfect scores for a friendship. What makes them best friends is when Obito decided to give his Sharingan despite Kakashi was always putting a cold air around him and most importantly asked him to protect his love ‘Rin’. Also Kakashi carried his friend’s will to his heart and passed on to Team 7.
It all falls under ‘In the memory of my Best Friend’ trope.
Obito may be a trash but he is a good friend. Because after Rin was killed, he massacred everyone around him except for Kakashi. He could have killed him. Understandable. Or he could have plucked his Sharingan back (because he literally plucked most of the Sharingans from the Uchiha clan massacre and kept those eyes as a reserve). This could have enabled him to use Susanoo. I believe Susanoo can only be used with Mangekyo Sharingan in both eyes. But for some reason, he didn’t.
So what makes me think Naruto and Sasuke love each other, not as a brother and not as a friend but something beyond which I can’t term?
My way of shipping is not about marriage, sex and rearing babies. Because literally everyone does this as an obligation.
So, I don’t ship them in terms of living together in my headcanon and having sex daily. Nope. But it is not wrong though if you ship in that sense.
In this Narutoverse, Women are just some stow away pieces whose sole existence is to fawn over their dreamboy and cry for them. (Usually literally nothing useful comes out of them). Me being a girl, as much as I hate this setup but I have come to terms with whatever it is and have accepted it. If you are a girl looking for a strong female character...... this is not the place. Watch something else.
But I draw inspiration from male characters who are characterized deeply for which I have to applaud the creator. Reason being, the very first character which I connected with was Itachi. It was when Sasuke thinks about his past with his family in the flashback before the first VotE battle in part I. I will be writing a separate post about Itachi in this week.
In short, If you are a person who wants inspiration, draw it from male characters. Not in a single moment, you stoop so low for characters like Hinata and Sakura. That’s not how I envision myself or any woman. Dot.
With all this being said, I ship them as a couple who necessarily don’t have to get married or have sex... But they each other has some special allowance towards each other in their hearts which no one can touch, not even their wives or children.
This doesn’t mean I accept what came after episode 478 as they are literally something they made for $$$$$.
There are some basic traits which are absolutely necessary for a ship to sail successfully. They are Acknowledgement, Reason, No Hierarchy, Influence, Owning each others rights and Privilege. (All these reasons should come from both the sides for the ship to be worthy)
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Acknowledgement, I mean here, is to accept and acknowledge what they are to each other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both agree that they are Bonded/Friends verbally as well as emotionally.
To me, this is essential in any relationship especially for the ones you are trying to ship. I didn’t see this in any other ships like SS or NH where it is always one sided. Sakura confessed before the village entrance to which Sasuke said “You really are annoying!!”. Hinata proposed in Pain arc. Naruto didn’t even acknowledge her confession. He went on to beg for pardon for Sasuke. Again she proposed in the War at the expense of Love Cupid “Neji”. Naruto went on to joke with Minato that Sakura is his Girl Friend.
If I were in both of these girls place, I would literally be mad and drop this shit right away.
Wheras in SNS, I saw both the people I am trying to ship were asking “What am I to you?”, to which they reply “You are my friend”. To me this is very important.
Reason
To those who are saying “Love is blind”, “Love is Madness”, “Love needs no reason”, you all need self-evaluation. This is not some K Drama situation where you don’t need any reason. You should know why you love someone and why you need the other’s presence.
Naruto’s reason is very simple.
Tumblr media
I could provide many reasons. But here, Sasuke, without any reservations... knowing full well of the consequence if he feed Naruto but still extended the helping hand to someone who was always hostile. It is just like what Iruka did. And many incidents which happened during Land of the Waves arc are evident.
He wanted to be friends with this lonely Uchiha boy way back when he was around 7 or 8 for a simple reason that he understands his pain more than anyone. But he really became friends when they were grouped together for Team 7.
Sasuke’s reason goes even way beyond when Naruto series started.
Tumblr media
“Because he felt relief”.
Imagine a young boy who witnessed a massacre before his eyes and lost everyone he loved. But somehow another young boy of his age made him feel relieved. This explains why Sasuke went all out of his way to make friendship with Naruto despite being aloof.
Isn’t this what we want from someone we love?
Rather than being completely insensitive about an orphan life or just stalking from the distance and never offered any support, I would prefer someone who understands my pain from their heart and try to reach me. Sasuke reached out to him by offering the lunch and Naruto reached out to him by making him his rival and bug him.
NO HIERARCHY
This is pretty self-explanatory. Unlike blood brothers, there should be no hierarchy in a relationship I want to ship.
We saw Naruto yells at Sasuke many times absolutely for no reason, despite Sasuke bearing this cold attitude. Probably he is the only person who can call him by such variety of names.
Sasuke always calls him by his trademark ‘Usuratonkachi’. Sometimes he calls him fool just like everyone. But was never insulting or mean towards Naruto. Except for that time in the final battle, he made fun of his Shadow Clone jutsu citing his loneliness.
In short, be it a physical fight or verbal offense.... neither of them wilts like a flower. They equally give back.
The only other person who can verbally assault Sasuke is Karin and probably the only girl who never addresses him as “Sasuke-Kun”.
U-SU-RA-TON-KA-CHI..... Why do Sasuke spend such an effort to call someone with a 6 syllabic word, instead NA-RU-TO, a 3 syllabic word which is way more convenient to call?? I always wonder.
POSITIVE INFLUENCE
I don’t have to spell out anything here. There are many obvious examples but will try to keep it short.
Naruto became strong because of Sasuke. He trained hard for 3 years with Jiraiya , a month with Kakashi developing Rasen Shuriken and controlled Kurama’s power with Killer Bee. Except for Sage Mode jutsu everything he learnt was all for bringing Sasuke back.
In short, Sasuke is Naruto’s predominant strength.
Though Naruto was not the source of strength for Sasuke, but he brings out many vibrant emotions in Sasuke which he really needed for his traumatic mind otherwise he would always be that cold angry brooding doll without any emotions and I am sure Sasuke enjoys to banter with Naruto.
Tumblr media
LOL!!! I don’t know why Sasuke feels competitve here. It’s pretty childish even for Sasuke.
Tumblr media
Friendly tease :-) I think he also protected Sakura in this scene. He can also ask her the same, isn’t it? I mean as a friend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The best one is yet to come
Tumblr media
It’s incredibly hilarious to see how Sasuke pouts when he was with Naruto. Sakura!!!! You third wheeling joker :-D :-D
Throughout Shippuden, Sasuke never shows his emotions with anyone. He either looks very cold or angry.
Tumblr media
Reminiscing his Team 7 days, for a split second.
Probably the only positive emotion is this, in all of the Shippuden. I mean not counting Episode 478.
I don’t think Sakura brought any kind emotions in Sasuke except annoyance when they were together in Team 7. Or Hinata too. These girls just moan “Sasuke-Kun”, “Naruto-Kun” but brings nothing to the table. Total wastrels!!!!!
OWNING EACH OTHER’S RIGHTS
This section is exactly where SNS moves on to a whole different level.
Sasuke wanted to inflict his pain over everyone who lives in peaceful Konoha for what it did to Itachi. (though I don’t really accept with Sasuke here since he never even bothered to question about his clan’s history, but what he was doing is understandable. Just like Naruto tells him).
But the context here is Sasuke is on a murder rampage. Starting from the Kage Summit, killing Danzo, unnecessarily hurting Karin and almost reached a point where he could not be stopped anymore. Then Ms.Annoying appears. She literally have no fucking clue what Sasuke is going through. So started to spout nonsense that she wanted to go with Sasuke-Kun with an ulterior motive to kill him without a strong resolve.
The interesting SS dynamics here is Sasuke asks Sakura “Do you know what I want?” and to which she gives a carefree-shitty-pathetic answer “I don’t care. I will do whatever you want”. Geez!!!
If I were Sasuke, I would think, “This person standing before me don’t even care about what I want but coming with an intent to kill me and not only that... she is a kunoichi from Konoha where I planned to inflict my pain by slaughtering them.. I better ram my Chidori and be done with it”... He doesn’t see her as his former Teammate. He just want to kill that person.
However, Kakashi deflects the attack and saves Ms.Useless.
( Me : I am a Sasuke fan through and through. But, Sakura..... You always says you will do this, do that.... But you never succeed at anything... Why is that? Why are you even continue being a ninja? No one asked you to kill Sasuke, you decided to. But why don’t you kill him. Probably you would’ve earned my begrudging respect... Pffft” ****sighs with a heavy second hand embarassment)
Anyways, Sasuke becomes an unstoppable maniac at this point because he was very irritated on seeing Kakashi and Sakura spouting some unreachable nonsense. So he started to attack Kakashi as he is even more irritated on seeing his Sharingan.
Again, Ms.Idiot wants to kill Sasuke when he is at his weakest point due to chakra exhaustion and that too from behind his back. (You!!! Gutless wrench). Sasuke sensed this and attempted to kill her again... (Naruto!!! You idiot. Why did you save her...)
However, Naruto appears and saves her. Naruto and Sasuke’s eyes meet each other.
But somehow Sasuke calmed down and hears out Naruto for what he has to say. He says, “Whatever you are doing until now, it’s understandable”.
Kakashi wanted to kill him and Sasuke got riled up and prepare his Chidori. Anyways, Naruto intervenes and they go to some meta physical plane and talks privately. And Naruto comes up with his idea and announces as below:
Tumblr media
Me: Naruto!!!! Sweety..... Do you realize that you have a big dream of becoming a Hokage which you have been shouting from Day 1? But still you want to overthrow everything for that one person who is in unbearable pain. It’s alright. But you don’t want to go alone or send him alone. No Best friend would go this far. And to those Sakura shippers.... Why didn’t Sakura try to bear the burden? Why didn’t she come up with this Idea? Afterall, you spout nonsense like ‘Sakura saved Sasuke from Darkness, isn’t it?’ And, Naruto.... Who gave you the right to take his hatred and shoulder the burden? And what makes you think you are that only person to do it??? Sasuke, might have other special person in those 3 years. How can you decide on Sasuke’s behalf??? Aren’t you going overboard ?
The answer to all the above is simple, Naruto can risk anything for Sasuke. And he clearly knew that Sasuke’s only living bond is him.
And what happened next was almost unbelievable and for the first time I thought ‘What is it with these two guys?’.
Sasuke agrees with Naruto’s proposition to not destroy Konoha before fighting with Naruto.
Me: Sasuke!!!! You have every right to reject his proposition. Since, he was not in your life for the past 3 years, your side of bond with Naruto should have been cut-off long back, right? Sasuke??? Well, at this point he was just your former Team 7 member. You don’t need to honor your proposition. You can attack Konoha anytime. Why did you accept?
Also Me: Sweety!!! Why do you always question Naruto ‘Who am I to you’? Why do you need his opinion always? There is an annoying princess standing behind Naruto vying for your attention. And yet you didn’t even ask her this question at any time. But before Naruto, you completely calmed down from your rampage and willing to wait for what he has to say plus asking for his validation. After all you don’t care about anything, why just Naruto???
Tumblr media
And the reason being, Naruto is still his closest bond which he couldn’t cut off despite trying very hard. After all, Many years ago, Sasuke was the one, who readily jumped in to protect Naruto knowing full well that it’s a trap. He was ready to throw away his revenge for this boy back then. Sasuke is afraid that he will give in to this bond once more and Naruto is his weakness which he wants to eliminate so badly.
This is definitely not any Best Friend would do..... Fix that in your mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The purpose of these GIFs is not show how protective Sasuke is..... Well, I can talk about it all day. Let’s save it.
Me: Yo!!!! Sasuke..... You wanted to kill Naruto.... You said so yourself under the bridge. Meaning, He is the only person standing between your goal and your resolve and Naruto is always known to weaken your resolve. And yet why are you protecting him here? There is absolutely no need. Because, if there is a situation like Kaguya where both of you are must needed to save this world , then there is a reason to save him. But why now? Plus do you know, if Naruto dies, then Madara’s plan may not succeed because if a Jinchuriki dies, tailed beast also dies. It is perfect for your Revolution, isn’t it? Who gave you the right to own his life? Obito has his reason to kill Naruto, why not let him?Why is it that you want to personally remove him from your life? If he is dead by an external factor, you can carry on your path without any interference and pain. Why go so far to protect him ?
The answer is Sasuke values Naruto’s life more than his own even during his Team 7 days. He has this high esteem for Naruto and almost consider it to be a shame if some worthless fool takes his life. And Sasuke never hated Naruto. He once hated Itachi and his resolve to kill was real and intense. But when Orochimaru asked him to kill 1000 people for practice, Sasuke never killed anyone. He even implemented no kill policy for his team “Hebi”. So, someone like Sasuke who never liked to kill random innocent people, how could he let some trash take away a life, he considers dearly to the same level of Itachi? That’s why in this situation, his body moved on his own to protect something special for him. He may not agree it, but he always shows it.
But some other ship wankers try to say Sasuke may have said “You are annoying” but inside he deeply loved her which is why he was smiling. If so, Why didn’t Sasuke never showed his care not even once? He not only tried to kill her twice when she was defenseless but also let her die twice or didn’t bother at all during the war. Or show me where these soul level connection happened between SS or NH
In short, Sasuke and Naruto own each other’s rights unconsciously. Because they are the only ones who can understand each other’s soul which nobody can reach.
Tumblr media
Me: Oh, by the way Sasuke, I think Susanoo should be used like this. You really don’t need your hand to protect Naruto. Susanoo can do it’s work for you. Minato would be proud though!!!!
PRIVILEGE
Most of the points I written above are in and of itself is a privilege they give for each other and not for anyone else. Privilege is essential in a ship. Because it shows how different a loved one is from normal people.
For Naruto,
Tumblr media
I originally want to put how he begs for forgiveness on Sasuke’s behalf before Raikage and weeps immeasurably before hyperventilating. But this one trumps the other. Naruto literally broadcasted everyone how important Sasuke is to him and how he regretted not offering his friendship at that time and how he couldn’t stop Sasuke from reaching Orochimaru.
If you want to inspire Alliance shinobi forces, you should have shown how you worked so hard from the bottom to top. Projecting Sasuke as your regret and inspiring people shows how deeply you prioritize this person which affects you after so many years and hence, you don’t want any more regrets.
It’s very unconventionally romantic which passes the shipping category in flying colours.
For Sasuke,
The following is the Land of the waves arc which was novelized in the name of Innocent Heart, Demonic Blood released in 2006. 99.9% of the material is exactly as it happens in Manga/Anime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the privilege Sasuke provides for Naruto. “ But coming from Sasuke, It almost counted as a hug”...
BROWNIE POINTS:
Now, the following are the scenes which add a mysterious flavour to this ship. I sincerely don’t understand why Kishimoto put this. I mean I am absolutely happy with it, but why? What was he thinking while drawing these scenes?
Tumblr media
It’s also strange that, whenever they clash a Chidori with Rasengan..... They always gets repelled to their own sides and fall with a loud thump. But Naruto’s posture looks very perfect, I mean it looks like someone carried him and laid him down. Anyways, What’s Sasuke doing on Naruto’s side?? He should have fell on the opposite side. Why didn’t he walk away? There is absolutely no reason for Sasuke to come over to Naruto’s side and have an intense meaningful gaze.
Tumblr media
This is another mysterious plus intense scene. I am still wondering, Is this really Sasuke? He is a person who avoids casual touches with anyone other than his brother. I’ve seen so many times Sasuke rejecting hugs from Sakura. I can’t even imagine what Kishimoto was thinking.
If you people pass these scenes off as Brotherhood or Best Friend chemistry... Then you lack basic human emotions. That’s all.
Me: Well, Sasuke, If you really want to kill him, you should have shovelled your sword right through Naruto’s vital point when you made that exuberant landing. There is literally no need for you to draw a long sword in close quarters. And what about the Personal Space??? With your speed, you can land without leaning on Naruto’s shoulders...
Also Me: Yo, Naruto... You were panicking when Sai does the same....but you don’t even flinch when Sasuke invades your personal space????
Anyways, it’s funny that both the intense scenes I have mentioned here were initiated by Sasuke. Quite strange and thrilling.
So, to conclude.... All these scenes I have mentioned  made me unconsciously ship them as a pair. With all these being said, I believe all the ingredients for a good romance were laid perfectly. A moment of impulsive tension or affection, say a hug, between them after a difficult battle could mess with both and make a romance happen. And I don’t think either of them will deny especially Sasuke.
I don’t see any of this aspect in other popular ships such as SS and NH. If I am Sakura or Hinata in this universe, I will not be okay with my pair doing all these things with other person. I intentionally left scenes from Episode 478 as it is so intense and require a separate post. I am happy that even without Episode 478, SNS ship sails high. So, I believe both Sakura and Hinata are still fourth wheeling their respective pairs in Boruto universe also, I guess.
P.S: I don’t watch Boruto
Final memento:
Tumblr media
No way a friend will look this mesmerized on seeing the other one.

Yakuza!Kyōjurō x F!S/O: Sugar and Spice (Mafia!AU, Modern AU, NSFW Series)[Chapter 2]
Summary: Kyōjurō and (Y/n) meet at a party, only to find out that their lives would change forever— since they had been arranged to be married. To make matters even more difficult for them, they were from two different walks of life, with (Y/n) being the Prime Minister’s daughter, and Kyōjurō being the heir to his clan’s Yakuza group.
Warnings: Smut, Kabedon, Groping, Making Out, Marking
Chapter 1| Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
***
No matter how much (Y/n) tried to shake the memory of those piercing eyes from her mind, she never could forget just how hauntingly beautiful they were— especially when they were trained so hard on her the night before.
It was why she had made a hasty escape; tucking tail and practically shoving her champagne glass at a waiter, before making up some halfhearted excuse about forgetting a prior engagement.
She could tell that the ladies she had been with were skeptic of her reasons, but had still let her go; just in time, as well, because Kyōjurō would have gotten to her if they had tried to keep her any longer.
Still, hours after that ordeal— even while she laid on her bed— with the warm, morning rays of the sun shining down on her through her windows, she could still feel the less-than-proper intent behind them. They were the eyes of a predator; someone who was silently telling her that he was going to devour her.
And if she were being honest, it scared and thrilled her at the same time.
“Hopefully, I’ll never have to see him again,” The young woman whispered to herself, right before closing her eyes and stretching her limbs outwards; it felt so good on her tired muscles. But her peaceful time alone was cut short with a soft but firm knock on her door.
“Good morning, (Y/n)-sama.” She almost groaned aloud at the sound of her temporary secretary’s voice; wishing to all hell that she were back in her university dorm— protected by a bodyguard, but still living with relative privacy.
But, unfortunately, it was summer break and she was obligated to stay at the Prime Minister’s residence; much like how her brothers were also required to live there when they weren’t living at their dorms. And, being the youngest— as well as the only girl— out of three children, her father was much stricter on her.
(Y/n) sighed then, deciding not to stall any longer and calling out a flat ‘come in’. It was then followed by the quiet creaking of the door, as well as the soft footsteps coming towards her bed.
As much as the young woman still wanted to just go back to sleep, she decided not to be difficult and opened her eyes— only for them to fall on Rin. She was a frail woman in her mid-thirties, looking very strict with her neatly pressed uniform; but it was her severely tight bun that had (Y/n) and her siblings knowing that the woman meant business at first glance.
“Good morning, Rin-san, may I know my schedule for today?” (Y/n) asked with a forced smile, knowing full well that she had a full roster for that day— what with her mother forking over some small charity appearances over to her and her brothers; all to show the people that they were very much active in society, despite also being busy with their own passion projects.
Rin nodded at that, before referring down to her clipboard and flipping a page— which had (Y/n)’s eyebrows quirking, since she saw so many things highlighted on one of her brothers’ schedule sheets.
“Your schedule has been cleared today, (Y/n)-sama.” That explained why she saw all those neon yellow lines on the pages before hers, but that had her stomach tightening with apprehension; because having a clear schedule at the last minute didn’t really bring good things.
“And why is that?”
“The Prime Minister has requested an audience with you for brunch, and he asked that you clear your schedule for the rest of the day to entertain his guest.”
Suddenly, she wanted to switch schedule with either one of her brothers. Hell, she would have rather been giving speeches and kissing babies, if it got her out of whatever clown show her father was about to put her through.
“Can I get out of this brunch?”
“No, Miss.”
“Alright, then. What time is this… fiasco? Nine-thirty? Ten? And do I already have something to wear for it?”
***
Who comes in late to meet the Prime Minister? The barbed thoughts reverberated around within (Y/n)’s head, as she presented a calm and collected façade for the world to see.
The dress she wore was modest enough for brunch, but with a touch of sexiness that had her quirking an eyebrow at the stern Rin when it had been handed to her earlier. Because, normally, Rin had her dressed up with the most modest of dresses; it would have been enough to put any miko to shame.
That already had her mind reeling with possibilities, yet she didn’t dare jump on any of them— since there were also numerous other things that could happen. Nothing was impossible, what with her being the daughter of Japan’s Prime Minister, after all.
For all she knew, she could be meeting the Prince of Wales with her father.
“Are we meeting Prince Charles, otou-sama? I didn’t brush up on my English last night,” She whispered to her father, who stifled his laughter and dabbed his table napkin to his lips— if only to muffle his humorous chuckles.
Yorihiko, (Y/n)’s father, turned to her then— before lowering his table napkin back down to his lap and showing her his bright grin. For someone who was in his mid-sixties, he still looked as youthful as ever. And, save for the crow’s feet at the corners of his eyes— as well as the greying hair atop his head— she would have gandered him as not a day over fifty. “Not the Prince of Wales, (Y/n)-chan, but someone who will be much more important to this family in the future.”
Maybe it was just her being a little chilly, but she felt shivers race down her spine at those ominous words. However, she couldn’t even collect herself before the butler announced that their long-awaited guest was finally there.
And she had to try really hard to pick her jaw up from the ground when she saw two heads of blond hair coming out into the garden. The one she knew as Rengoku Kyōjurō wore a crisp, black suit with a blood red tie— one that matched his eyes and hair very well; while the older man next to him wore a formal kimono with a sleek, black haori perched on his shoulders.
“The yakuza, otou-sama?” (Y/n) whisper-yelled at her father, who only gave her a nod before getting up from his seat— all while smoothly laying his table napkin on the table— so he could greet their guests.
She followed suit immediately, but she couldn’t help her unsteady legs as she walked around the table and gave the Rengokus a small bow. “Welcome to our home, dear guests.”
“Don’t be too stiff, daughter; call me otou-sama,” The older man spoke in a gruff tone, smirking all the while as he looked at (Y/n).
The young woman couldn’t even speak, but managed a small nod— right before turning to the man that she had been under just the night before. A chorus of “oh no”s kept playing inside her head, but she couldn’t even voice out her panic, nor her disapproval at whatever arrangement had been arranged between her and the Yakuza heir.
“How about we have our meal as we talk, Shinjurō? And then we can leave the kids to be acquainted?” Yorihiko suggested with a bright smile, all while motioning over to the table that he and (Y/n) had been sitting at earlier.
It already burned (Y/n) to even be in the same vicinity as the man who had been between her legs just the night before, but it burned her even more when he smirked right at her— before offering his arm to her; as if he was the perfect gentleman.
And with her being who she was, couldn’t even turn him down. So, she found herself slipping a hand into the crook of his arm; holding on to him as he walked her back to the table. To make matters even worse for her, he even pulled out her chair for her, before helping her sit down.
That action hadn’t been done for mere chivalry, however, as Kyōjurō took it as a chance to whisper right by her ear, “It’s nice to see you again, baby. You look really… fuckable in that dress.”
“Fuck you.” (Y/n) managed to whisper back, which earned a sexy little chuckle from the blond.
He wanted nothing more than to pull her by the hair and make her face him, just so he could kiss her breathless and show her that he wasn’t to be messed with, but they were in front of company, and he didn’t want to disrespect her like that in front of their fathers.
After all, he was going to be his wife. And he was always taught that Rengokus respected their wives above all else.
“You almost did, baby. Maybe on the honeymoon, though,” Kyōjurō whispered back with a grin, before finally pulling away and taking the empty seat right next to her— much to (Y/n)’s chagrin.
Lunch passed by in a blur for (Y/n), however; with conversation being led by the two patriarchs. She was nothing more than a spectator at the table, since she was still trying to wrap her head around what was happening.
And, from what she could catch, she and Kyōjurō really were arranged to be married. In this day and age, arranged marriages were such an archaic concept but, apparently, the Rengokus had a lot to do with her father getting the Prime Minister position— and he owed them a lot.
So, now that the Rengokus are being pinned with crimes that weren’t their doings— and with Shinjurō facing multiple life sentences if things aren’t resolved— they had to cash in that favor with (Y/n)’s father.
After all, what better way to clear someone’s name, than to get related through marriage to the very man who signs them? No other man’s vouch could be stronger that the Prime Minister’s; if he said that he trusted the Rengokus enough to have his only daughter marry into their family, then all those pending cases would be dismissed as nothing more than baseless accusations.
(Y/n) had always known that her father was involved with all kinds of people, but she had never even had an inkling that he had been rubbing elbows with the Yakuza— of all people.
***
Once brunch was over— with her food having been barely touched— the patriarchs left both (Y/n) and Kyōjurō in the garden to ‘get acquainted’. However, (Y/n) had much more different things in mind, so she got up from her seat and tossed her table napkin onto the table; all before making hasty escape back into the house.
Kyōjurō’s eyebrows quirked at his fiancée’s actions, but it didn’t dampen the smirk that tugged up at the corners of his lips; as he watched her hips swaying so seductively a few ways away from him.
Last night, he had been pissed to have seen her walking away from him— and that time was no different, but it posed an extremely exciting challenge that he was more than willing to take on.
So, that was how he found himself getting up from his own seat and following after her— but not before glaring right at the guards that had been about to keep him from following her.
That kept them right in their places, which was good enough for him— and had him resuming his leisurely stroll right behind his charismatic bride-to-be.
But she didn’t get to go much farther than the back door of the mansion; as Kyōjurō quickly took his chance to press her back against the wall— making sure to cushion the back of her head, as he caged her in with his right arm and his body.
“Don’t walk away from me, baby,” Kyōjurō stated with a smile; right before dipping his head down to brush his lips against hers in the faintest of kisses.
That move didn’t fail to make (Y/n)’s toes curls right in her heels, but she tried so hard to ignore the tingles that were shooting across her skin; even taking to looking at anywhere but at Kyōjurō.
All because the events from the night before were playing in her mind— hot, raunchy, and filled with so much lust for him.
But the blond wasn’t deterred by her reaction at all, coming to press his hips right against her— and making her feel the bulge that was slowly growing bigger beneath his pants.
“Come on, sweetheart. Kiss me like you did last night,” The young man teased once more, then dipped his head down to catch her lips once more‚ but in a much deeper kiss that, inevitably, had (Y/n) melting against him; especially when he lightly tugged at her hair, all while gently nipping at her bottom lip.
All the while, his right hand snaked itself down to cup her right hip; kneading it in a gentle massage, before slipping down further so he could cup her ass. He then gave it a squeeze, which had her gasping right into their kiss; giving him enough time to slip his tongue right between her lips, all so he could play with her own.
When Kyōjurō felt her responding to his kisses— much like how she was last night— he took that as his chance to tease her even further by pulling away; latching on to her neck and trailing kisses down to the crook where her neck met her shoulders— and biting down on the skin, before sucking on it to leave a love bite.
He wasn’t contented with just one, however, and found himself leaving more of his marks all over her neck as well. Every single one had her moaning softly and, somewhere along the way, one of her hands had made its way onto the back of his own head— where she was gripping his hair tightly.
She was really melting under his touch, and he loved it so much.
And things only made a turn for the better when he quickly bunched the back of her dress up with the hand that had been groping her ass, before slipping his hand down further so he could cup her pussy from behind; grinning when he felt her so wet beneath her underwear.
“You want me to fuck you?” He asked, all while rubbing the tips of his fingers against her soaked entrance; loving the way that her fingers kept tightening and loosening on his hair— especially the subtle way that she was trying to rub her pussy up against his cock.
(Y/n) was silent at first— refusing to give in and answer him— until the blond readjusted his hand and made quick work of slipping it up the front of her dress; right before pushing her panties aside and pinching her clit between his index and middle fingers. The move had her hips jerking involuntarily, and also had her moaning softly when Kyōjurō began to play with the little bud.
“…Please.”
“Please what, sweetheart?”
(Y/n) was just about to give in and actually beg him to fuck her right there— up against the side of her father’s residence— when all sense came crashing down on her and she yanked on Kyōjurō’s hair… hard. “Get off of me!”
It was clear on Kyōjurō’s face that that move had pissed him off, but he couldn’t help but obey (Y/n)’s words— albeit reluctantly. And he wanted to just scowl at her, but the sight of her looking so disheveled had him laughing; outright laughing, as he took in her messed up lipstick and crazy hair.
The glare that (Y/n) was aiming right at him looked mildly threatening, but it was the best she could do— especially when she heard the blond’s attractive laughter. How a laugh could be attractive, she didn’t know; it just was— and it was highly unfair, since he already had such a handsome face.
Even the fresh love bites all over her neck and shoulders added to her ‘just fucked’ look, diminishing the aggressiveness in her expression even more, and that pleased Kyōjurō so much.
He couldn’t wait until he really messed her up. He’d make sure that she wouldn’t even be able to get out of bed in the morning.

Emotional abuse is NOT to be normalized.
Hello everyone! Anon from the “
I’m a victim of emotional abuse
” post. And today I’m going to explain my story of the emotional abuse I went through.
My story begins as a lot do, online. I was about 10 years old so I didn’t know what were red flags, and what relationships I should avoid. I had a very toxic friend group back then that enjoyed self deprecation and honestly bullying each other, me included. We used to do the cringe roleplays children do and making cringe oc’s. I met someone we’ll call Rin.
Rin didn’t bully me like the others in the friend group and very often came to me for opinions, and over all talking without making me feel like utter garbage. I ate up all the praise, all the love and support Rin gave me. However, even as early as friendship, they would get angry at me if I did stuff they didn’t like and would sometimes ignore me, sometimes verbally assault me into apologizing for things I really shouldn’t have.
»»————-————-««
For context, Back then I was both unmedicated for anxiety and I was going through a harsh time with my aunt and cousins living with us. When I was 6, my drug addict uncle committed suicide and I’d been living with them for about 4 years by that time. (No, my parents nor aunt told us he committed suicide. at the time, don’t worry) They made my life HELL, constantly getting me in trouble and generally putting me down.
Context: Rin was 16 when i was 10.
»»————-————-««
One day I was doing our daily playing games with the friend group and Rin when one of our friends, Rose, Told us we’d make a *great* couple. By that time I had some feelings for Rin, we’d voice call occasionally, to me they weren’t a stranger. Rin had agreed and in hind sight I was kind of pressured into the relationship.
All of the behavior I mentioned before, where they would get pissy whenever I did something they didn’t like or get nice when I did something they *did* like got WORSE. It’s nothing like what media presents, because when people wish to manipulate you they will without hesitation.
Rin began threatening bodily harm, showing me cuts if I did something vaguely wrong. They would tell me I was worthless without them. That if I’d “Only just listen to me I could make you the best girl ever!"
They found it funny when I’d get squeamish over topics, continuing the conversations and saying that if I’d just tell them that I’d like it then they’d stop.
One day when I was 11, it just got too much for me so I said we needed to break up. You wanna know what Rin did?
They threatened suicide. They told me if I left them they’d kill themselves. That I was all they were living for. That I was the love of their life and if I left them it’d be my fault if they killed themselves.
I was 11, I didn’t know any better about the situation but I knew I didn’t want them to die so I stayed. I stayed in the relationship. I tried 3 more times to break up with the same result. the same threat of Suicide. Sometimes with photos.
After that original threat they began getting s*xual. They began mentioning we should meet up IRL, despite us being several states apart. They began describing what they’d do to my body s*xually when we met IRL. They told me that if I didn’t want to fulfill their fantasy’s I was a bad SO. That I should only exist to fulfill their wants and *their* needs. It didn’t matter what I wanted.
when I was 12, I finally had an out. They had been stabbed and sent to the hospital. They weren’t online so I took the chance and broke up with them when they couldn’t do anything about it. They tried when they got back but I was long gone.
Now normally Media presents this as when a trauma victim starts healing and returns to perfect normalcy. That isn’t the case. Its been at least 4 years since I left them, since I got out of that situation, but I still have the fears. Have the insecurities. I still hear their voice telling me I’m worthless, That I’d be better off a trophy on their wall. That since I’m not their perfect ideal woman I should just shut up and be the best wife to the next man that decides I’m worth their time.
my anxiety’s voice, once a always changing one *became* their voice. I’ve healed, I’ve moved on from the abuse but their voice haunts me. Their Abuse has left mental scars that will NEVER heal.
This is why having Mental Abuse of any form be normalized is horrible. because it means more people like me will go through situations like these. and not be allowed to escape because we’re "over reacting”. Because we’re “just in hysterics. it’s perfectly normal!"
this is a serious issue that shouldn’t be brushed under the rug. Miraculous Ladybug is the WORST offender of normalizing Mental Abuse I have ever seen. because I KNOW the red flags. I have trained myself to see them. To protect myself.
Normalizing normal little issues is fine. But mental abuse? never. NEVER should ANY form of abuse be normalized because it means more victims will appear. This shouldn’t even be a thing but here I am. Having to fight for people to realize this isn’t a thing that should be just accepted.
TL;DR: My first ex threatened to cause bodily harm when i was 10, and when i was 11 threatened suicide for me daring to try and break up with them. I escaped when i was 12, only barely. Now my anxiety has taken their voice and haunts me to this day.
If you’ve read this long, thank you! and have some
kittens
for what I just made you read. Thank you for your time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, I want to thank you for your bravery in coming forward to share your experience. I am so sorry you had to go through this. Nobody deserves to be treated this way.
Second, you still raise a valid point.
Media in general tends to downplay emotional abuse and parental neglect, a good example being Monica Geller’s relationship with her parents from Friends. Almost every episode featuring Monica’s mom showed her being insensitive to her daughter and constantly belittled her while undermining her achievements like prioritizing Ross’ new girlfriend over Monica’s weight loss in a flashback. Even if it was unintentional on her part, it still damaged Monica’s psyche, and this kind of treatment was always played for laughs.
The fact that even shows today tend to downplay mental trauma shows that people don’t really understand the kind of damage it can cause.
The way Chloe’s relationship with her mother is portrayed is a good example. At least Friends is targeted towards an older audience so it could be enjoyed in a morbid way by laughing at Monica’s misery, but at its core, Miraculous Ladybug is aimed at children. Children will see Chloe bonding with her neglectful mother and see it as normal, as a good thing.
The fact that Astruc still doesn’t get how bad Chloe’s upbringing was shows he doesn’t get mental abuse either.
You need to better understand mental trauma before actually trying to write it. Otherwise, you end up depicting mental abuse in the wrong way and give viewers the wrong impression of it.

I would feel bad if I took it all and I know I shouldn’t. Hope everyone likes it. (If I need to add anything to the wanting list let me know).
__________________________________________
“Shit! Asta you idiot! I am going to be late!”, you yelled as you jumped out of bed and started to get your gear on.
Asta looked over the clock and cursed under his breath, he got up and started rambling around for his clothes. He spoke, “Don’t put this all on me Y/n! It’s just as your fault as mine”.
You slipped your squad robe over your head and opened the door, running down the hallway towards the living room of the base. Asta was right behind you, putting his headband on and trying his best to keep up.
You had to leave for a mission this morning with Luck and Magna, Captain Yami told you to be in the living room at exactly nine o clock. Well...you had three minutes to make it there in time. Maybe having sex with Asta the night before you had a mission to go on was not the best idea, but you couldn’t take last night back. Hell, you didn’t want to take it back. It was the best night of your life. Because Asta and you got together recently.
You just hoped that Luck and Magna didn’t leave without. Nah they wouldn’t. Yami is smart enough to not let them leave on a mission alone.
__________________________________________
Asta and you showed up exactly at nine o clock. The moment you two walked into everyone’s sight landed on you guys. They could see the various hickeys on Asta’s and your neck. Knowing exactly what you two did last night.
Captain Yami was sitting on the couch with a cigarette in his mouth. He took a puff and exhaled the smoke into the air. He spoke “Well it’s nice for the two lovebirds to finally join us”, with a chuckle.
Asta and you gulped a little and sat down in your respective seats, waiting for Captain Yami to explain the missions for today. Captain Yami spoke “For most of you, today will be patrolling around the kingdom. Vanessa and Charmy. You’ll take care of the skies. Gauche, Noelle, and Finral, you’ll take the streets. Magna, Luck, and Y/n. You three are going on that mission to a village a few miles from here to look around. Asta, you’ll be sticking with me for the day”.
The whole squad said “Yes sir”, and they all went their separate ways to go get their jobs done. Luck, Magna, and you stayed behind for a bit. To make sure you have everything you need before setting off for your mission. While getting everything together, Captain and Asta walked in talking. Captain Yami said, “I told you not to make Y/n late and what did you do? You almost made her late. Also, didn’t I say that she was off-limits”.
Asta could only just stand there and look at Yami, biting his lip to keep himself from lashing out at his mentor. In his head, his demon was raising hell saying things like “I’ll do whatever I want” and “She is mine Yami! Mine!”
Asta however, only could say “I was just being nice. I can’t help it that I have feelings for Y/N. I also can't help that shit got out of control and things happened last night”. Captain Yami pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, this kid is going to be the death of me. That is what went through Yami’s head. Yami said, “Kid, I don't care. I told you to not mess with her and you disobeyed my order. Therefore you are staying here today and not going on this mission”.
Hearing everything, Luck, Magna, and you just kept quiet. You three didn’t want to get on Captain’s bad side either. Yet, you felt bad. You made Asta go against the rules of Yami. Something that the squad knows not to do. Asta didn’t seem to care, he had feelings for you and he was going to make you see them. He loved you and cared about you so much.
You were about to walk over to talk to him about the whole conversation, but Luck called “Y/n!, let’s get going. Magic Knights always get a head start”. All you could do was look at Asta and you just say “I’ll talk to you later Asta, see ya”, then you headed out the door to go on your mission.
__________________________________________
The moment you walked out of your door, Asta felt like absolute shit. He thought he could finally have happiness in his life, and it’s already starting to be taken away from him.
The patrolling with Yami, Asta is just standing there all quiet. He wasn’t his happy self, he was just gloomy. He only gave Yami nods and small answers to his questions. If Asta saw anyone he knew, he would make small talk with them. When they ran into Yuno, Asta stood there and kept quiet. Yuno could tell something was bothering his rival/best friend. Yuno even said, “Asta...you can always talk to me if something is bothering you”. Asta could only nod and spoke, “Yeah...I know Yuno...thanks”.
Asta may be faking smiles on the outside, the demon was festering on the inside. He was growing more and more intense through the whole thing. The demon wanted Asta to just go off on Captain Yami, not think one second for the use of his words. Asta pushed him back and kept himself at bay. He was not going to do that to the person who saw so much potential and gave him a chance. Gave him a home.
Charmy tried making him sweets to cheer him, Asta would take them but he wouldn’t eat them. Vanessa would try her best to talk to him, Asta didn’t want to talk. Asta only wanted you. Captain Yami was starting to feel bad for what he had said to his little pupil. He didn’t mean to say it the way he did, he just wanted you to turn out like the rest of them.
Yami would sit beside his ash-blonde kid and say “Kid, I’m sorry for what I said. I didn’t mean it like that, I just...wanted to keep Y/N out of harm's way is all. I hope you can forgive me, kid. Oh, and you have permission to date Y/n, even if you did break my rules”.
Asta would half-smile and least take the apology from Captain Yami. He would reply “Thanks Captain and I forgive you, you were just trying to protect us”. Asta knew he couldn’t stay mad at Captain forever, because he’d never know if they had to work together if something dangerous was to happen.
Asta wanted to know “Did you truly want him still after all of this?”
__________________________________________
You on the other hand were questioning everything. Was the love Asta and you had even real? Did Asta love you or was it just to prove to Yami that he doesn’t listen?
Yami’s words kept playing over and over again in your head. You couldn’t get them out. You had to get them out. You had a mission that you needed to focus on. Magna brought you out of your thoughts by saying “Hey! Cheer up Y/n, it’s all okay. Yami does this all the time. Don’t be so upset about it”.
Luck would come up and put an arm around your shoulders and say “Yeah! We have a mission that needs to be taken care of. So we need to be focused”.
Just as you are about to speak, (some type of magic) get thrown at you three. Magna deflected it away with ease and said “Looks like you have to be focused a lot more sooner Y/N”. Luck quickly took his arm off of your shoulder and stood ready. You let your grimoire out of your slash and follow along with your comrades. You said “Thanks for the motivation guys, truly helpful”.
A guy came out from the woods and spoke “Oh how lovely, three young magic knights left unattended to. This is going to be a very exciting slaughter for me. I’ll start with the girl”.
Magna and Luck both bared their teeth and said “Over our dead bodies. You’ll never get to Y/N. We will make sure of it!”
The guy chuckled darkly and spoke “Oh sure you two will. Yet you do not know how my magic works. Ever hear the words ``silent but deadly”, as he raised his hand. His grimoire fluttered open. This guy spoke some words that you three were not familiar with.
In an instant, you felt a stabbing pain in your shoulder. You quickly grabbed at your wound and yelled out in pain. Luck and Magna both turned to you and yelled “Y/n!”. You said, “I’m...fine, just take care of this guy. I can still fight”.
Luck and Magna both nodded, headed straight for this unknown person. The guy said, “Oh I have a name pretty thing and it’s called Rin. Seems to me like you still aren’t fully understanding my attention. I’m getting rid of you”. Rin said the same words again, as he dodged Luck’s attack. You felt the same stabbing pain, but this time in your thigh. Causing you to drop to your knees.
You grit your teeth, keeping yourself from crying out in pain. You needed to help. You used your magic and let it do its work. While you still felt cuts and bruises being formed on your skin, you kept your spirits high. This fight had to be finished one way or another.
Luck and Magna both were getting hurt just like you, but you were taking the wounds way worse than they were. Luck doing everything he can to keep you from getting more hurt. While Magna took his communication device and called Yami. Hoping that the big brute would answer quickly and not make stupid remarks.
Once Yami answered, Magna spoke “Captain, we are in trouble and Y/n is hurt. Badly hurt. That she is pouring blood out of her shoulder and thigh. We can’t beat this guy. His magic, it is weird. You got to come help!”
__________________________________________
Captain Yami was sitting at the bar, about to enjoy his drink when his alert device went off. He groaned in annoyance. Noticing it was Magna, he knew it better be a good reason to ruin his afternoon drink. Yami spoke “Blaze this better be…”, but he never got to finish his words. Magna completely explained everything that was happening to them.
Yami had no idea that Asta was still in the room and was overhearing the conversation between his squad member and captain. The moment he heard Magna tell Yami that you were hurt, Asta was on his feet instantly.
As Yami finished the call, Asta spoke “Yami let me go please! It’s Y/n! Please let me go! I’ll do anything, just permit me to go help!” Asta’s eyes showed that he was not going to take no for an answer. Yami wanted to tell him, no but he knew he couldn't do that to his kid.
Yami knew if he did say no, then this whole situation would get more complicated and messy between Asta and you. It also would start the feud between Asta and him again. Yami didn’t want that to happen. Yami said “Fine kid. I’m going to let you go but I am going with you. Because you are not going to go and do something reckless and stupid”.
Asta smiles and understandably nods. Asta grabbed his swords and he headed out the door. Yami hollered “Vanessa, Gauche. Hold down the fort. Finral you are coming with us. We need your transportation”. Vanessa and Gauche would only say “Yes sir”. Finral wouldn’t say a word, he would make the portal and then the three of them would be heading to their members.
The whole trip through the portal, Asta is just anxious and ready to get to you. He needs to see just how badly you are hurt. Because Magna likes to exaggerate things, but Asta had the feeling that Magna was telling the truth. That you were hurt badly.
__________________________________________
When the portal opens, Finral, Yami, and Asta could see it all. Rin was still throwing everything he could at Luck and Magna. Magna staying close to your form. Keeping you protected. To this point, you were laying on your side. Trying to stay awake.
Asta could see all the blood on the ground. Not knowing it was from Magna, Luck, or you. His eyes lock onto your almost lifeless body. His whole body is starting to shake. That he starts to lose the fight with his demon, but he keeps it together.
Rin however dips before he could get caught from the new threats that entered his forest. Not wanting to deal with the big monkey of a man and the weird deformed kid.
Yami and Asta quickly hurried over to you. Asta dropped to knees, looking over at you. Asta says “Princess, who did this to you”. His voice changed from his sweet soft tone to the dark and demonic tone.
Asta couldn't fight the other side of him any longer and he was letting it fully come out. Someone hurt the one he loves the most and he wanted to get revenge. Yami wanted to tell Asta to not let it out all right now, but it was too late. Yami couldn't control the emotions going through Asta. Yami would have done the same thing.
As much as you wanted to tell him who did this to you, you couldn't tell him. Because you were doing everything you could to save your breath. The only thing you could make out was “Asta”. You watched as your blurred sight took in his wing, his talons, his horn, and his mixed colored eyes.
If Asta wasn’t by your side before, he was by your side now. Asta cupped your cheek gently with his human hand and he softly spoke “I’ll make them pay for what they did to you Y/n. I promise you that”. His voice was smooth enough to still talk to you. It would be smooth when he would talk to Yami and them. Not to the one who hurt his friends and girlfriend. Asta let go of your cheek and he then turned towards Luck and Magna.
Luck and Magna both gulped, not wanting to hear what Asta had to say. They were still terrified of his demon form. Asta spoke “Who did this to my girl”, clearly wanting his answer now. Luck spoke, “It all just happened so quickly. The guy..his name was Rin came out of nowhere and did this to Y/n. Did this to us”. Magna could only say “The Rin guy took off just as your guys got here and he went towards the north”.
Asta nodded his head and said “Thanks guys”, started to head towards the direction Rin had gone to. Though he stopped and waited for Captain to finish. Captain Yami would only be able to look at Asta in a whole new demeanor. Instead of the reckless kid he had always known, Yami saw him as a magic knight. Protecting what he cares about the most.
Magna would pick you up bridal style and head towards the portal with Luck. You would look at Asta before you disappeared into the portal. Yami spoke “Finral, you come back to us as soon as you are done getting them back to the base”, Finral replied, “Yes sir, I will be back in a flash”.
__________________________________________
As much as Yami is proud of Asta, Yami said “Asta. If we are going to do this, you have to act on my command. Not on your own. I promise you, kid, you’ll get revenge on this Rin guy, but it will be on my terms. If you do not listen, I will send you back with Finral and I will do this investigation myself. Understand?”
Asta wanted to turn around and argue with Yami. But, Asta knows that his captain is right. He has to do this on his command and not his own. Course Asta wanted to go back and be with you. Asta knows he needs to stay and make sure nothing happens to Yami, even if Yami can take care of himself. A magic knight does not run away from a fight. Asta spoke, “Yes captain I understand”.

While they are off hunting down Rin. Finral got Luck, Magna, and you all back to the base safely. Magna carried you in and the rest of the squad could only gasp. They’ve never seen you this injured before. Vanessa would instantly take you from Magna, as he'd go and get freshened up. Along with Luck.
Vanessa, Noelle, and Charmy all took to Asta’s room, knowing that is where you would rather be. They all would take turns taking care of you. Noelle would carefully wrap your injured shoulder up, after cleaning all the blood off. She’d do the same with your thigh. Vanessa would patch up any scratches you had on your body, to keep any infections out. Charmy would go make all the soft and comfort foods that would help you regain your strength. Sadly, their worst fear came..you already developed a sickness due to your wounds.
They are completely concerned, more than they were initially. They could handle the wounds, but you being sick also? This was not good..not at all. Noelle would phone the kingdom’s doctor. The doctor would assure them that it was normal. Told them to just watch over her and let the wounds and the infections run their course.
Even if you knew you were home safe and sound. All you wanted to do was sleep. All you wanted was Asta. Because you felt safer if he was with you. Wearing one of his shirts wasn't enough to make you feel better. All you could do was cry for him. Making the rest of the squad pray that Asta would return home soon.
__________________________________________
It had been almost an hour, Yami and Asta still trying to find Rin. Asta’s anger had slowed down a bit, but it was still there. Captain Yami said, “We will find him kid don’t worry. I’ll let you have a piece of him and then I will take over”. Asta nodded and kept his eyes open for anything. Magna did explain that his guy’s magic was silent. Asta would be able to take him on. He produced anti-magic.
Not even within a few minutes, Asta’s Ki senses hit and slashed towards his right and then towards his left. Asta spoke “Come out you coward!”, growling. Yami smirked, proud of his kid for using his Ki. Yami would say “Excellent kid”, drawing his katana.
Rin would come out of hiding and say “How? No one can detect my magic and deflect it at ease!”, sending out more attacks. Asta dodged the ones sent his way, as Yami did the same. Asta said, “I can you bastard. Ever heard of anti-magic?”. Rin’s eyes would go wide hearing the words “anti-magic”. Rin just kept sending and sending attacks to his two enemies. Though this was a battle for revenge, Yami was enjoying being beside his demon child. Fighting and protecting the squad they loved. Minus how much they annoyed Yami.
Yami would say “Kid, use your demon speed and get behind him”. Asta would nod and fight his way to get behind Rin. Rin would put up a fight to keep Asta at bay, but it was useless. Asta was way faster and easily got behind Rin. Rin would turn around and fight Asta. Asta would grab him by the face and slam him to the ground. He would grip Rin’s shirt tightly, raising his fist and punching Rin in the face. At least a couple of times. Then putting his hand around Rin’s throat.
Yami would say to himself “Fucking hell kid”. Yami would hurry over and say “Asta don’t. I know you want to but don’t. That is an order”. Asta does all he can to restrain himself from not ending Rin's life. He wants to continue to punish Rin, just to make up for you getting hurt. At the same time, he needs to stop. He doesn’t want to ruin his reputation as a magic knight.
Asta would let go of Rin’s throat and back away from him. Yami would pick Rin up and have him by the collar of his shirt, just as Finral opened up a portal. Yami would make remarks to Finral, but not at the moment. Asta spoke “Took you long enough time machine”, Finral said, “I am your superior Asta, but right now. I know you are not in the mood to argue”. Yami and Asta would talk into Finral’s portal and they would go back to the Clover Kingdom.
Getting back to the kingdom, there were a lot of questions. Asta just stood there and listened to Yami and other captains talk. He wants to be involved, but he is keeping himself away. He isn't sure if he would be able to stop from ending Rin’s life if he were to see him again. Then again, he is also worried about you. Because you are his number one priority.
Soon as this is over, Asta is going straight to the base.
__________________________________________
Once Asta makes it back to the base, he is searching for you. Lucky he runs into Noelle asking where you are. Noelle would say “Y/n is in your room Asta, but she is asleep. She also is recovering from her injuries and a fever. So it’s going to be a slow recovery for a while”. Asta would not even reply to Noelle. He would take off running towards his room.
He would see you laying in his bed, sleep as Noelle said. Your skin is paler than your normal tone. You look almost lifeless while laying there in his bed. It made him more emotional.
Asta begins to wonder the what-ifs. What if you died? What if they were too late? He just got you, he couldn't lose you already. You were his life.
Asta didn’t want to wake you, you needed the sleep. He took the seat next to his bed and watched over you closely. He was angry, sad, and hurt. If he could take all of the pain away from you, he would. He would rather be in your place than you.
Every little sound or little move you would make, he would be alerted instantly.
As much as he would love to be laying next to you in the bed, he chose to stay in the chair. Asta didn't want to make the pressure on your body worse. He’d gradually take you wearing one of his shirts. At least he knew he was still protecting you, keeping you warm.
His demon would be rambling in his head, saying things like “We should have ended that Rin guy’s life. Why did Yami have to intervene?” Asta would push his demon away and not worry about his words. You were the only thing that mattered right now.
Slowly, you would stir and open your eyes to a blurry vision. You spoke softly “Asta?”
__________________________________________
Asta’s ears would perk up and he’d be right there in your line of vision. He’d take your cool hand into his warm one. Stroking it softly, letting you know he was there. Asta spoke, “I’m here princess”.
Asta’s voice is hoarse, from not talking. From being angry. Yet, he is relieved and happy to see that you have opened your pretty eyes. It assures him that you are alive and wasn’t laying in his bed like a corpse.
“Asta are you here?” your voice cracking since you haven’t talked for quite some time. Tears start to form in your eyes, tipping over your beautiful eyelashes. You were hoping that this wasn’t a trick. Your dreams plague with no one but Asta. Sometimes it was just the two of you, happy in love. Others, it was bloodshed that ended with yours or his death.
Asta’s throat is clogged with emotions, his green eyes vibrant and shining with unshed tears.
“I’m here baby, I promise”, Asta says softly. He’d move closer towards you. His hand coming up to palm your cheek and he watches you nuzzle into it. “We got the guy. He’s in the prison cell right now”, he’d tell you.
Your vision starts to get a bit more clear, so you could see Asta better. You could see his eyes were to the point of letting the waterworks fall. You’d sit up in front of him and place both of your hands on his cheeks.
“Asta, I’m so sorry. My head wasn't in the right place. Luck, Magna, and I were somewhat paying attention but not fully. It..it just happened so fast”. You were pouring your emotions out to him. Telling him you were sorry and you didn't mean to get hurt. Knowing you were better than this.
You continued “It’s just what Captain Yami and you talked about before we three left. It got to me. I was thinking that you didn't love me. That you just did this whole thing to prove a point. I’m sorry! I’m sorry I’m not good enough for you Asta”.
Asta quickly took your face in his hands. His heart was breaking at the realization that you were essentially hurt because of him. Because of the misunderstanding before you left. Sorrow envelops him to the deepest part of his soul. He will never forgive himself for this.
The pain in his chest felt so sharp, it almost hurt to breathe. Even the demon inside of him was deadly quiet.
Asta spoke, “You got it all wrong Y/n! It was never to prove a point. Captain Yami was being protective over you because we’re squad members”.
With a shaky deep breath, Asta leveled you with a stare that is bright with desperation. He wasn't sure if you’d believe him but he had to try at least.
__________________________________________
“Baby, you are good enough for me. Hell, you are better than me. I am just a commoner chosen by the five-leaf clover. I’m not worthy of your love but I’ll make damn sure to earn it and keep you by my side”, Asta says.
His thumb wipes away your tears. His voice is raw with emotions as he presses his forehead against yours. “I love you. I’m yours until you don't want me anymore. And you're mine. Forever”.
You take your hands off of his cheeks and wrap your sore arms around his neck, closing your eyes. You said “I love you to Asta, I want you forever”, with a smile.
The two of you stayed in this position for a few more minutes. Taking in the moment of finally being the two of you. After everything that had happened with the last few hours.
“I’m sorry I didn't understand and took everything the wrong way. I just care about you and I don't want to lose you. Oh and do not say you are not worthy, you are Asta. You’ve earned every single bit of me. My love, my respect, and my support. All of it”, you declared.
Softly you asked “Babe, can you lay down with me? I’d feel a lot safer if you did. If you can’t I understand”.
Asta is up as soon as those words leave your lips, he’s eager to lay with you, to have you in his arms. He climbs gingerly on the bed, mindful of how sore your body is. Asta scoots closer to your body, relaxing and curling into you once he feels the barest contact of your skin against his.
While he was still angry at himself, he's just happy to have you alive and with him. He truly didn't deserve you. But he loved you too much to let you go. He'll spend the rest of his life proving his worth to you. If he has to.
__________________________________________
“Asta?” you call.
Asta hums when you call his name waiting for a response. His heart accelerates every time you say his name. But he couldn't lie and say this time he wasn't scared about what you had to tell him.
He has to remind himself that you're not going anywhere. He settles on caressing your skin gently, trying to soothe his nerves in the reassurance of you being alive.
“I’m still sorry for ever doubting that you did this to prove a point. I love you truly”, you say. Without realizing it, his rigid body softens once you tell him you love him. Asta didn't realize it but he guessed he was preparing for the worst. But hearing you say those words, makes his heart swell.
“I love you more baby”, he drifts off for a bit but then continues “Don’t apologize. I can see how it sounded bad coming from the captain. He was ominous about it”.
You reply “Yeah I know but I am still kinda to all of this. I just...I don’t know”
You slowly turned around and put your hand on his chest and sighed. “I just want you to be proud of me and I feel like I failed you, I wanted to be better but still”, you tell him.
The more you kept thinking about it the more emotional you got. Tears falling from your eyes. You added, “I do not feel like a magic knight. Everyone else is so much better than me”.
Asta placed his hand over yours. It pained him to hear your cries, hear you put yourself down. He wanted to take it all away. But he knows this is something that you have to deal with on your own. He’d be there for you. Just like you were there for him.
He lets you cry your emotions out. His hand squeezes your hand firmly. When your cries quiet down, he honestly speaks.
Asta says “You know what the squad sees? We see you as one of the best magic knights in our kingdom. You're not here for status but because you want to keep the citizens safe. You’re kind to all, care about the honor of your comrades and you aren't afraid to lead. Not to mention you are powerful. Noelle said you motivate her to keep practicing for control over her magic. Do not get me started on Luck and Magna. If there is anyone they respect more than Captain, it's you. I could go on but my point is, you’re the one everyone looks up to. Myself included. Babe, I am so proud of you. Nothing you could ever do would make me any less proud. If anything, I’ve failed you...and I am deeply sorry for that. But I will never stop making it up to you”.
__________________________________________
“I know you’ll never stop making up for thinking you failed me but in reality, you haven't failed me, Asta. Did you not see what you did? You came the moment you found out that I was in danger and hurt. That's pretty worthy if you ask me”. You say.
You brought his chin down so you could see him better and look into his emerald eyes and asked “How is your demon taking this? Probably fuming”.
Asta’s eyes are solemn when he answers “Angry you’re hurt. Angry you think so low of yourself. But he’s happy to see you’re safe. We both are and that you’re ours”. Which is true. The demon being part of Asta, he took you as his also. If Asta loved you, the demon had to least try and take you in.
You’re shocked but continue to ask “A demon happy to see that I’m safe and that I’m yours? Isn’t that kinda weird? Mean a demon can love? I’m not saying that it can’t but look at us. Don’t be mad at me for questioning”.
Asta shrugs, not at all offended by your questioning. He says “I can't say for sure that he loves you babe. But I do know that he cares about you. He wanted to destroy that Rin guy for hurting you. Your pain and injuries made him restless”.
You spoke, “Well mean he is a part of you so therefore he should care about me. Why did he want to hurt that Rin guy? I just want to learn more about the person I love”. If you were going to be with Asta, then you needed to get to know more about Asta and his demon. Things that he liked and didn't like.
“Because Rin hurt someone dear to the demon and I”, Asta would reply. His eyes darkened. He could tell the demon was under the surface. The demon was scratching to be let out. But Asta kept him at bay, this was not the time to go into a blood lust. He didn't want to scare you in your condition.
Asta stated, “Soon as you are healed up, you can talk to him, princess”.
Asta had to admit, it made him happy that you acknowledged the demon was a part of him. Essentially he was it and it was him. It’s a lifelong bond. It pleased him and the demon greatly that you cared enough to want him and his dark side.
__________________________________________
To avoid his dark-colored eyes, you looked down and spoke “I don't know when that is going to be babe. The doctor has me on bed rest and you know Captain is going to make sure I follow orders. Hell, even when I am healed I still have to wait”. Being stuck in the house killed you. Sure it was to rest up and hell but you still hated it. You were the one to always be outside. Whether it was to train or to just enjoy the outdoors.
Asta tipped your chin, so you could look at him. His eyes were back to his soft shade of green. He saw you were pouting when you told him about having to stay inside. While he did understand your feelings, he couldn't help to find your pouting adorable.
He stated “Hey. I’ll be with you every step of the way alright? I know you don't like the thought of staying in but you need to heal. You’ll be up and ready before you know it. I’ll be right there when you do baby”, ending it with a grin.
You responded, “Yeah, I know you’ll be with me every step of the way”. You smiled up at him and placed your lips against his. You hadn't kissed him in quite some time and you missed the taste of his lips.
Asta grunted into the kiss, kissing you with all of the passion he could muster. He missed your lips just as much, missed the taste of you just as much.
Asta pulled away and said “I heard you’ve been experiencing a sickness along with your wounds. How are you feeling babe?’’, you simply said “Yeah, it just some small infections happened to start before I got them properly cleaned. I am fine now though Asta”.
Asta smiled and nodded before he spoke “If you get to feeling any worse. You better let me know princess”. You nodded your head to give him your response. You’d tell him the moment you started to feel bad.
You took his headband off and put it on the side table next to you, then you looked at him. You said “It’s not time to be a magic knight anymore. It’s time to be a boyfriend and a caregiver if that is okay with you?”
All Asta could do was watch you take his headband off and his adorable smile formed on his face. He brushed your lips with his and spoke “That’s more than okay with me baby. Do you need anything? Name it and I will gladly go and get it for you”. He meant it. Anything that you wanted, he’d make sure to go get it for you.
__________________________________________
“Hmm, could you go get me some water? Then when you get back, can you stay here with me? You know cuddle and protect me”. You simply ask him.
Asta smiles and answers “I'll go and get you some water babe, then when I get back we can cuddle”. He caresses your face, kissing the top of your head. A kiss that was full of promises. Asta said, “I’ll protect you with my life my queen”.
And he would. Asta would die for you if he had to. You were his everything and he was going to take care of you.
Asta kisses you one more time before getting out of bed. It’s not long before he's back with your cup of water and he hands it to you. He waits patiently for you to finish it, once you are he sets it down on the side table. Then he's back in the bed, snuggling into you. He's mindful of your wounds as he drapes one arm around your body. He placed another kiss on your head.
You placed your head on his chest and listened to the beat of his heart, it was slowly playing a lullaby for you to fall asleep. You said, “Nothing else love, I am fine. Just do not leave me unless you have to”.
“I won’t, I promise”, Asta says. The hand that was wrapped around you came up and played with your hair. Helping you fall asleep more.
It felt good with you being in his arms. Asta felt like himself again. No longer angry, frightened, or hurt. He felt...content. Sure you guys will still probably need to talk more. He is sure that you’d want to talk to the demon. Right now, it was just you and him. Nothing else. For that he was grateful.
Asta checked to make sure that you had fallen asleep and you did. His own eyes started to become droopy. He guessed he was tired from all of the stress and fighting. Yet he didn't mind falling asleep knowing you’d be there when he wakes up.
He lets out a yawn while the arm around you tightens up. Asta spoke “I love you, princess, sleep well”, a peaceful smile forms on his face as he falls asleep himself.

A/N at the end.
------------------------------
The first of the evening’s stars twinkled against a darkening sky above Kaede’s hut, where Kagome lay inside, deep in the throes of labor. The initial pangs of discomfort had begun shortly after daybreak that morning, the recent sunset marking thirteen hours since then. Now well into active labor, Kagome braced herself for yet another painful contraction. She groaned before clenching her jaw tightly shut, feeling the muscles within her lower abdomen begin to tense.
The fingers of her right hand were laced firmly through her husband’s, who sat diligently at her side. She squeezed Inuyasha’s hand with all her strength, grateful that she could do so without hurting him too much.
Although it was not traditional for the father to be allowed in the birthing hut, a (reluctant) exception had been made for Inuyasha. Kagome recalled the earlier scene in an effort to distract herself from the building pain.
“Kaede!” Inuyasha called out as he burst through the entrance of Kaede’s hut, carrying Kagome in his arms.
Kaede made a sound of annoyance as she finished making her tea, her back turned towards the couple. Her lack of surprise suggested that she had sensed the half-demon’s aura approaching. “What are ye making such a fuss about, Inuyasha?”
“Kaede, the baby’s coming!” Kagome said through labored breaths. Kaede finally turned around to see Kagome in Inuyasha’s arms, one hand on her swollen belly and her face screwed up in pain. Her face softened as she realized the reason for the sudden intrusion.
“Ah, yes. Good, good,” Kaede said calmly and set her tea down to begin preparing the futon for Kagome to lay on.
She moved slowly in her old age, and after a few minutes when Kagome cried out again, Inuyasha growled and snapped, “Would ya move it along? Kagome needs somewhere to lay down right fucking now!”
Kaede shot him a one-eyed glare as she finished placing the last pillow. She gestured to the futon, indicating that it was ready for Kagome to lay down on.
Inuyasha lay Kagome down on the futon ever so gently, making sure she was as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. Once he was sure she was taken care of, he settled onto the floor himself, sitting cross-legged by her side.
“What do ye think you’re doing?” Kaede asked as she grabbed a clean birthing robe and water bucket from a storage chest in the corner. “Fathers are not allowed in the birthing hut, Inuyasha. It is time for ye to leave.”
Inuyasha cracked his knuckles in response, holding up his claws menacingly. “You gonna make me, old hag? There’s no way in hell I’m leaving Kagome right now!”
Kaede’s tolerance for Inuyasha’s rudeness was already running thin. “How dare ye threaten me in my own home! It is bad luck for the father to - “
She was cut off by Kagome, who had just finished breathing through her latest contraction. “Kaede, please, I want him to stay. I need him here with me.”
Kaede considered her request, ultimately deciding it would be less hassle for her to just allow the exception. She nodded slightly before turning away and sighing, preparing herself for a long night ahead with a stressed and overprotective Inuyasha.
Kagome looked up at Inuyasha, who smiled slightly, seemingly relieved that she wanted him to stay. She reached out and took his hand, intertwining their fingers. She returned his smile with a warm one of her own, before abruptly dropping it and replacing it with a glare.
“I want you here with me, but if you are rude to Kaede one more time, I will not hesitate to kick you out. Now apologize!” She gave him a look that made his ears flatten against his head.
“Fine, whatever. Sorry, Kaede,” he grumbled almost inaudibly. Kagome rolled her eyes at his immaturity, but was still thankful that he would be by her side as they welcomed their child into the world.
Kagome was brought back to the present as her contraction peaked. Her muscles tensed impossibly harder, causing her to let out a cry of agony and squeeze her eyes shut. This was the worst and longest one so far. It was so intense that all rational thought was wiped from her mind as her vision went momentarily white. Unable to comprehend anything beyond her overwhelming desire for the pain to stop, she squeezed Inuyasha’s hand with a force that probably would have broken a regular human’s hand.
She did her best to try and breathe deeply until her body mercifully began to grant her relief. Chest heaving and limbs shaking, she savored the brief respite, knowing that she didn’t have much time to prepare for the next contraction. They were only a minute or two apart now, and she instinctively knew that their baby was very close to making its arrival.
She felt the comforting coolness of a damp cloth dab the sweat from her forehead, and looked gratefully to her left where Sango knelt beside her. Sango gave her an empathetic, encouraging smile. She had happily volunteered to assist Kagome with the birth of her child, both as an excited aunt-to-be, and as part of her midwife training.
Kaede’s strength continued to wane in her old age, and Rin had decided to spend some time traveling with Sesshomaru again to see if she still preferred that lifestyle over living with other humans. Not wanting to risk leaving the village without a midwife, Kaede had asked Sango and Kagome if they would be willing to undergo training so they could assist with births if the need arose. Although Sango was incredibly busy with her ever-growing family and occasional demon slaying whenever she got the chance, she jumped at the opportunity to give back to the village that she had made her home for the last seven years. As a mother of five children of her own, she had plenty of experience and advice to offer new moms.
Sango put a comforting hand on Kagome’s shoulder, remembering the excruciating pain of childbirth all too well. “You’re doing great, Kagome. Let me check on your progress.” She moved down between Kagome’s legs to determine how much farther she had to go. Kaede had taught her several methods of determining the baby’s position at any given point during labor. She hoped, for Kagome’s sake, that she was nearing the end.
“Good news, Kagome, you’re almost there! When the next contraction comes, you can start pushing,” Sango said, moving back to Kagome’s side down by her feet.
Kagome nodded slightly, closing her eyes and taking a few more deep breaths to try and prepare herself. Her heart was pounding, her hands were shaking, and a layer of sweat coated her entire body. She had never experienced so much pain, not from any of the injuries she had sustained during their countless battles. Even having the Shikon jewel torn out of her body was nothing compared to this. She had to keep fighting down waves of nausea as the contractions had become more and more agonizing.
She was already exhausted, already past her limit of pain tolerance, and the thought of pushing sent her into a panic. How much worse is this going to get? What if I can’t do this? What if the pain kills me? Maybe I wasn’t ready to be a mother! I’m not strong enough…
Terrifying cynical thoughts raced through her mind as her heart pounded against her ribcage, her breaths becoming more shallow.
“I’m scared,” she admitted quietly, to no one in particular. She kept her eyes closed, feeling weak and ashamed. She had been looking forward to being a mother for so long, so why was she suddenly so afraid?
“I don’t think I can do this,” she whispered, her voice breaking. A few tears slipped out from under her shut eyelids and rolled down her flushed cheeks. She felt like she was on the brink of a complete breakdown.
“Yes you can. What you’re feeling right now is perfectly normal, Kagome,” Sango said soothingly.
Kagome slowly opened her eyes at the sound of her friend’s voice.
“Every mother feels the same way at this point, I promise. This last part isn’t going to be easy, but it doesn’t last too long, and then it will all be over and you’ll be holding your baby in your arms. When you look into their eyes for the first time, you’ll forget all about everything else, trust me.”
Kagome smiled down at her, thankful for the reassurance from someone who had been through this before. She then looked up to her husband who was still holding her hand and sitting cross-legged at her side. Her gaze was met with golden eyes full of concern.
Inuyasha was overwhelmed. There were so many sounds, so many smells, so many emotions. He had done his best to try and prepare himself for this day, but he had to admit that he was in over his head. It was killing him to see Kagome in so much agony, especially when there was nothing he could do about it. His instincts to protect her flooded through him with every cry of pain she let out, followed by the frustration of not being able to help. It was driving him crazy that all he could do was hold her hand and offer her words of encouragement every so often.
He had kept relatively quiet since his earlier threat to Kaede, afraid of saying the wrong thing and upsetting Kagome. He was completely out of his element, having never witnessed a birth before. He had no idea what to do or say, or what was considered normal. All he knew was that he wanted to be by his wife’s side, and that she wanted him there as well. Now, as she looked into his eyes after voicing her fear, he knew he had to be strong for her.
“You can do this, Kagome!” he said fervently. Hearing her say she didn’t think she could do it had made him want to scoff and call her an idiot, but he figured that wouldn’t be very helpful and might even earn him a ‘sit’ command in her current state. The idea of her not being able to do this was ludicrous to him. He had been watching her in awe all day, amazed by her strength and resilience. Since they first met, she had always been a fighter, never backing down or giving up when faced with a challenge. It was one of the many things he loved about her.
He brought his free hand up to her cheek to gently wipe some of her tears and sweat away, letting his fingers linger on her face for a moment.
“You’re so strong, you always have been,” he said, bringing his hand back down to grip hers between both of his own. He stared deeply into her wide brown eyes, trying to wordlessly communicate the neverending love and respect he had for her. “And I’m right here beside you.”
Kagome could feel her panic melting away at his words and the look in his eyes. She smiled a little at him before looking forward with a newly determined look on her face. That’s right, Inuyasha is with me. I can do anything with him by my side.
She felt the pain building again, but it was different from before. Somehow sharper and duller at the same time. She knew this was the final stretch she had to get through to meet their little one, so she gathered all the strength and courage she had left.
The pain of pushing was almost unbearable, but she did her best to remain focused on the steady pressure of Inuyasha’s hand and the guidance given by Kaede and Sango. She felt every sensation in her body, her instincts kicking in to guide her through the final stage of delivery.
Over forty excruciating minutes later, a cry finally rang through the cabin, alerting all those in the area to the arrival of a new life. Kagome breathed a huge sigh of relief and fell back against the pillows. Kaede caught the crying baby and carried it over to the water basin to be bathed. Sango cut the cord and helped clean Kagome up enough so that she could comfortably lay her legs flat again.
Kagome lay exhausted, trying to catch her breath and calm her racing heart. The cries of her baby echoed through the cabin, filling her with a euphoric pride. She had loved their child from the moment she knew of their existence. It felt like so long ago that she first found out she was pregnant. She could still remember the rush of pure joy she felt at the news. Finally, after so much wondering and planning and waiting, she was about to meet the one she already adored more than anything in the world.
After giving her a few moments to catch her breath, Inuyasha helped support Kagome as Sango stuffed a couple pillows under her back so that she could sit up more. Once she was sure of Kagome’s comfort, Sango got to her feet and said, “I’m going to give you some privacy. You did so well Kagome.” She smiled warmly down at her friend, and then shifted her gaze to Inuyasha. “I couldn’t be happier for the two of you.” Both returned her smile, and Kagome reached out to take Sango’s hand.
“Thank you so much for everything, Sango. It really helped to have you here.”
Sango squeezed her hand. “Anything for my dearest friend. We’ll all come visit in the morning once you’ve had some time to rest.” She released Kagome’s hand and walked out of the hut to give a full report to Miroku and Shippo, who were waiting at home with her own children.
As Sango walked out of the entryway, Kagome lifted her head up to anxiously look around for her baby, who was no longer crying. Her eyes found Kaede, who was wrapping the newborn loosely in a blanket. Her heart fluttered with nervous anticipation as Kaede slowly made her way over to her and Inuyasha, carrying their new addition in her arms.
“Congratulations Kagome and Inuyasha, it is time to meet your daughter,” she said with a smile.
At the word ‘daughter,’ Inuyasha and Kagome’s eyes met, both of their mouths dropping open slightly. Their daughter.
Kaede handed the tiny bundle off to Kagome, who reached out instinctively. As soon as the child was securely in Kagome’s arms, Kaede made her way outside to let them have their first moments as a family in private.
A peaceful silence settled over the hut as Kagome held their baby close to her chest and stared in awe. Inuyasha moved closer to her, draping an arm over her shoulders. Kagome was overcome with emotion, an overwhelming feeling of love and warmth taking over every ounce of her being. She was still exhausted and in pain, and somewhere in her brain there was a terrifying, nagging reminder that she was now responsible for protecting this tiny being, but it all felt like dull background noise compared to the warmth that emanated from her chest as she marveled in the presence of her daughter.
“Inuyasha...she’s....” she trailed off quietly, unable to quite find the words.
“...Perfect.” Inuyasha finished for her in a dazed tone. He couldn’t stop staring at the face of the life they had created. He had pictured the arrival of their baby many times in the months since they found out they were expecting, but he could never have imagined what he was feeling now. It was surreal and overwhelming to finally come face-to-face with the child who had only been an abstract concept in his mind until a few minutes ago.
He had struggled with the idea of becoming a father. Despite his excitement to start a family with the person he loved most in this world, he had trouble imagining himself in that role. Questions such as What if I ruin our kid’s life? What if something happens to them? Or to Kagome? How am I supposed to know what to do with a baby? had kept him awake countless nights over the last several months. Not to mention how much time he had spent worrying over Kagome. He’d had a hard time leaving her alone for more than five minutes during her entire pregnancy, constantly afraid that something could happen to her or the baby.
It was the worst on his human nights, the negative thoughts hijacking his mind and taking hold until he could think of little else. What if something attacks us when I’m in my human form and I can’t protect them? What if I’m not a good enough father and Kagome resents me? What if our kid grows up facing the same kind of discrimination I did for being part demon and part human? The questions became impossible to ignore on those nights, a couple times bubbling up to the point where his heart raced and his breath became shallow. He usually tried his best to hide his fears from Kagome, not wanting to cause her any extra stress, but those few times, it was too hard to pretend nothing was wrong.
Kagome would try to comfort him. She would whisper reassurances into his ears. That she loved him and believed in him. That their child would be well cared for no matter what. That he would be an amazing father. She would look at him with such love and trust and warmth that he was almost able to believe that he was the person she saw him as. But it was hard to forget a lifetime of being told he was worthless, an abomination. It was hard to forget all of the awful things he had said and done in his past. How could he ever be a role model to a child? What if he had doomed them to the same lonely life of an outcast that he had?
Witnessing Kagome’s excitement to be a mother was the only thing that kept him from drowning in his anxiety. Although he didn’t know if he was cut out to be a father, he was positive that Kagome was meant to be a mother. She had always been the caring and nurturing type, and the joy she had to finally fill the role of a mother had radiated from her throughout her entire pregnancy.
Whenever Inuyasha felt overwhelmed with doubts, he would just watch his wife tenderly rest her hands on her rounded belly, or listen to her hum lullabies to their unborn baby. In those moments, he knew that at least their child would have Kagome as their mother, and that even if he fell short, she would always be there to provide them with the care and support they needed. He vowed to match her as best as he could, all the while feeling terrified of letting her down.
Lost in his thoughts, he hadn’t noticed that Kagome was looking at him. She seemed to sense his inner turmoil and asked, “Do you want to hold her?” with a sweet smile.
“Uh..” Inuyasha responded stupidly, but Kagome had already extended their child towards him.
“Just remember to support her head and you’ll be fine.”
Inuyasha took the tiny bundle ever so carefully, as if she might shatter into a thousand pieces at his touch. He slowly adjusted her position so that her head rested in the crook of his elbow and she was fully supported by his arm. He stared at her for a long minute, still unable to make sense of everything he was feeling. How could he have helped create such an incredible little human? How could he ever be a good enough father to her? She was so tiny and fragile, what if he hurt her by accident? Protecting Kagome was already stressful, but at least he knew she could handle herself in a battle. How in the world was he supposed to protect someone so small defenseless? He tried not to think about all the dangers of the world around them.
To distract from his racing thoughts, he focused on cataloging everything about her. The little tuft of jet black hair on the top of her head, her barely open chocolate brown eyes that looked so like Kagome’s, her tiny nose and mouth. Although she hadn’t inherited his eye or hair color, or his dog ears, the shape of her features still resembled his own. She was truly a perfect blend of the two of them. He inhaled and memorized her scent. It was similar to Kagome’s, with hints of his own scent, but distinct in its own way.
Inuyasha cautiously extended one finger from his free hand to gently stroke her cheek, being mindful of his claws. Her skin was softer than the finest silk. He had never felt anything quite like it. He moved to pull away, feeling unworthy to touch her with his rough, calloused hands. At the same time, a chubby fist escaped the confines of the blanket surrounding it and waved blindly through the air. Tiny fingers found his retreating hand, and instinctively wrapped around his outstretched pointer finger.
With a sharp intake of breath Inuyasha froze, suddenly hit with a surge of emotion so strong he could hardly breathe. His daughter gurgled and looked up at him, gripping his finger with surprising strength for a newborn. A soothing warmth began to spread from the point of contact throughout his whole body, almost reminding him of the sensation of being purified by Kagome’s spiritual powers. But this was something else, something deeper and more profound.
Something shifted deep within himself as he felt her tiny fingers grip his own. Every priority, every feeling, every want and need he had ever had was rearranging, placing his daughter at the center of it all. The moment that she had touched him, he was forever changed. His rough edges softened just a bit, his heart grew a little larger. The world and his place in it made a little more sense. All of the doubts and insecurities he had about being a father faded to the background. He knew now that he would do absolutely anything for the little girl in his arms.
A type of love he never knew existed rushed through him, seeping into every last crevice of his soul. It was all-consuming and indescribable. He felt as if he was staring into the sun itself, her radiant light giving him warmth and life in ways he hadn’t known he needed. All of the pain he had gone through in his life now felt worth it to be able to experience this moment. He would do it a thousand times over again as long as he got to meet her. He had known for a long time that he was born to be with Kagome, but now he knew he was born to meet his daughter as well.
He let out the smallest of laughs, breathy and awestruck. After several more moments, he finally managed to tear his eyes away from her to look up at Kagome, who had been watching the heartwarming scene unfold. His mouth still hung agape, and as his eyes met Kagome’s, he felt a single tear roll down his cheek. The sensation surprised him, having never shed tears of joy before.  He hadn’t even noticed the wetness building in his eyes. As he looked at his wife, he noticed that tears were silently falling down her cheeks as well, though she wore a beaming smile.
Tumblr media
The familiar sight of Kagome’s smile made his heart swell with even more warmth. It hardly felt real that, after all the heartache and loneliness that he had endured in his life, he was here looking into the eyes of his wife and holding his daughter in his arms. He wanted to tell her how much he loves her, how thankful he was to be able to share this moment with her. He wished he had the words to explain what it meant to him to have a family of his own.
“Kagome...” he said quietly, trying to think of something else to say. How could he ever put into words everything he had just felt?
“Inuyasha,” Kagome responded warmly in a way that told him no words were needed. They had always had a quiet understanding between them, their love for each other much deeper than words could ever hope to describe. It was something he was eternally grateful for. With a smile, Kagome reached out to cover her husband and daughter’s joined hands with her own.
Her eyes drifted back down to their beloved child, and after a few moments of contemplation she asked, “Moroha?”
Inuyasha wasn’t sure where she got the name, but it didn’t matter to him. It fit her perfectly.
“Moroha,” he repeated, confirming her name.
Inuyasha rested his forehead against Kagome’s as they continued to gaze down at their daughter. He knew his fears hadn’t disappeared completely, but there would be time to worry later. For now, he simply let himself bask in the glowing happiness of this perfect moment with his family.

A/N (sorry it’s so long)
Hope you enjoyed the feels! I’ve been working on this for a while now, so I’m really excited to finally post it! I had originally wanted to post it before the premiere of Yashahime, but I kept nitpicking and editing it over and over. Plus I decided to add the drawing which took me forever. I also went all out and made the banner and everything, which I’m not sure if people usually do for oneshots but oh well!
This all started with me imagining that one moment of a newborn Moroha grabbing Inuyasha’s finger, and that being the moment that moved him and changed him forever. I could see him being really nervous and unsure about becoming a father, but I liked the idea of her touch causing a shift in him and basically turning him into a puddle of mush. I hope it isn’t too OOC for Inuyasha to cry at this moment, but I thought if anything would have the power to make him shed tears of joy then this would be it. Plus I saw it as kind of an involuntary bodily reaction to all of the emotion he experienced.
I tried to throw in some of Kagome’s POV, but I mostly wanted to explore Inuyasha’s conflicted thoughts and feelings about becoming a father. I hope the descriptions of pain/birth weren’t too much. I have never gone through childbirth, but it sounds ridiculously painful and terrifying so I was probably projecting a bit haha. Kagome is a badass for dealing with all of that with no drugs!
I tried to look up real stories of how people felt when they saw their baby for the first time. There were a lot of mixed reactions, with a lot of people saying they just felt really scared or didn’t have a strong emotional reaction. This is a fic so of course I wanted it to be emotional and happy, but I tried to mix in some of the fear they must have felt also.
I didn’t want it to seem like Kagome’s strength only came from Inuyasha being there with her, but from what I read about active labor, the pain at that point can be extremely mentally and physically taxing, so I wanted her to have a moment of weakness where she felt like she wasn’t strong enough. And I always loved that Kagome and Inuyasha draw strength from each other in different ways. So I felt like she would have been able to tap into that from having him by her side.
Also, in regards to Sango and Miroku having 5 children, I find it hard to believe that they would have stopped at 3 considering how much Miroku talked about wanting to have 10 + kids lol. So that was just a little canon divergence I threw in there. This takes place about 4 years after Kagome returns to the feudal era for good.
Anyways, I could ramble forever and over explain everything as I tend to do, but I wanted to get this out there before we see baby Moroha in Yashahime this week. I’m so excited!

Inukag Royalty Au
A month had gone by since the Naraku incident and for the two royal families, life had seemingly returned to normal. Princess Rin found in Prince Souta a new friend closer to her age, Miroku had started following Sango around— much to her chagrin, and the Queens were already teasing their kids over future grandchildren. The formal wedding celebration had begun with guests from all their ally territories in attendance. It was truly a large and joyous occasion. The Higurashi’s ballroom was filled with the finest food and drink, beautiful decor, and music to entertain the masses. Both kingdoms were ready to put all the misunderstandings aside, ready for a bright new future. But not everyone was in a celebratory mood.
The party was already in mid-swing with Prince Inuyasha and Princess Kagome mingling with the guests and giving off on an air of contentment. Plastered smiled and staged conversations. But once the revelers seemed fully preoccupied by drink and merriment, Inuyasha pulled Kagome to the side.
“I could use some fresh air,” he suggested quietly.
“Mmhmm,” she agreed with a nod.
Inuyasha took Kagome by entwined fingers and led her out to a side garden where they would have some privacy. No one noticed them take their leave, save for their ever-dutiful attendants who simply nodded their approval. Don’t get him wrong, Inuyasha wasn’t having second doubts about marrying Kagome. He loved her, there was no question about it. But that didn’t mean there weren’t a few things still left unanswered. He could sense in her that she felt the same way, so with the start of their new lives truly about to begin, it was time to get things straightened out.
“Is this, okay?” Inuyasha questioned once they reached a small gazebo. “The night air isn’t too cold, is it?”
“No, it’s alright.” Kagome sat down with Inuyasha following her lead. “I suppose this was inevitable.”
The last couple of months had been such a whirlwind. From her identity being found out, to Naraku, the threat on the kingdom, the wedding— she and Inuyasha didn’t have any time to talk. Or rather, Kagome had also been nervous to do so.
“I think so too.” Inuyasha took her hands. “Please do not think I brought you out here because I am unhappy with you or that this marriage was simply to save you from Naraku.” He brought her hands to his chest and held them tightly. “I married you because I love you. But I just wanted to make certain there isn’t anything else you’d kept from me. All those months you were with us under false pretenses, I wish to know what was fact, and what was fiction?”
Kagome dropped her gaze to the ground. “I’m sure it’s obvious that all the stories about my family were fiction since they are very much alive. But there were truths woven in. In her youth, my mother’s parents really did not provide her a tutor because they didn’t believe a noble woman needed anything more than how to satisfy and cater to a husband. So, she took it upon herself to listen in during her brother’s lessons, then steal away to their library to educate herself further. With me, she made sure I got as much education as they could provide. Sango taught me a lot about how to protect myself and to use a bow. My parents weren’t thrilled about it but didn’t stop us either.” She looked back up at Inuyasha. “And Tanaka was the name of an old attendant of mine. As for what else is true, falling in love. I tried so hard to resist you because I didn’t want either of us to get hurt.” Kagome looked down again. “I should have thought things out more clearly before I ran… it caused so many problems for everyone. Yet even so, I feel guilty because it had led me to you and the happiest time of my life. You, Rin, your family, I love you all so much for what you’ve done for me. I wouldn’t know where to begin in repaying such a debt.”
“Is there anything else I should know?”
“Who you saw in me, my personality, and behaviors, that was all still me. I didn’t change that part— don’t think I could have lied to that degree and made it believable.”
Inuyasha tipped Kagome’s chin back up. “I believe you; I can sense that much in you.” He smiled before leaning in with a soft kiss. “Now, is there anything you’d like to ask me?”
“No,” she shook her head and smiled. “I feel you’ve always shown me the real you.”
He kissed her again, deeper, letting it linger as he kept their foreheads touching. “There is no debt to be repaid my love. For you’ve already given me what I’ve been searching for my whole life.”
“What… do you mean?”
“Acceptance— true acceptance.”
“I-I don’t understand…”
Inuyasha pulled back but kept his palm cradling Kagome’s cheek. “All my life I’ve felt split between two worlds because I’m a hanyo. Yokai and human alike would sometimes look at me differently. Of course, they wouldn’t dare say anything to my face, but I could feel the awkwardness. That’s why I was very angry for a long time. Rin forced me to lighten up, but I still felt inside like I’d never be truly accepted and yet you loved me despite my nature. Now, I don’t care if anyone else judges me differently, as long as I have you by my side.”
Kagome’s eyes crinkled at the corners as a few happy tears pooled in them. “Oh, Inu, I’m just as lucky to have you too.” She chuckled and smiled. “My mother worried no one would want a woman who’s feisty.”
He laughed, “that’s exactly what drew me to you.”
She leaned her head onto his shoulder with a contented sigh. “Fate was never something I really believed in before, but it’s hard not to think there is truth on such tales.”
“It is quite ironic how things worked out in the end, but I’m really happy they did.”
“Me too.”
This was a future neither had allowed themselves to believe possible. For Kagome, the fairytales of finding a Prince Charming were once a dream now come true, and Inuyasha the weight of lonely years melted away. They sat there for a few minutes in a comfortable silence, simply enjoying the night air and absorbing this whole new life about to begin. What will it be like? Will they always be happy now? Have all their worries ended? As a second son, they won’t have the stress of ruling to deal with, so that just left creating a normal family life— well, as normal of a life a royal could design. Children… how many should they have? These are the kinds of questions the couple will need to ponder at some point.
Speaking of children, Kagome flushed at the idea. While they have had a few intimate moments, mostly kissing and a little bit of touching, but the couple had not gone all the way yet and frankly Kagome was a little nervous about it.
“Inu?” Her voice was soft, hesitant in breaking the silence. She wasn’t sure how she’ll take his answer, but Kagome wanted to know.
“Yeah?”
“Have you, been with anyone before… like, i-in bed?”
“No. Why do you ask?”
“I’ve heard stories about how princes can be loose like that…”
“Well, not me. I won’t lie and say I’d never been tempted, but most of the women I’ve been around never interested me much. Nobles are usually so… boring or just looking to increase their status and I wasn’t about that.”
“Are you nervous about it?”
“A little.”
“Me too.”
Inuyasha turned to face Kagome. “I won’t force you, if you’re not ready.” He lifted her chin. “I’ll wait as long as you need.”
Kagome blushed harder. “It’s not… that… I want to… with you.”
“Oh,” his brow raised with a chuckle. “Have you been fantasizing about me?”
“Maybe… Have you?”
“Oh— yeah.” He grinned. “How could I not? Every time I’d see your beautiful face, and this,” his hands moved down to her waist, “body, just dreaming of learning every inch of it. Plus, have you any idea how much your scent drives me wild?” She shook her head no. Inuyasha leaned down, his lips so close to her neck, his breath sent chills down her body. “Well, it does, and now you know,” he answered in a husky tone.
“Oh… Inu…” Kagome breathed out when his lips grazed her skin. Her hands clutched to his vest, pulling, begging he stay right where he was as her head tilted to give a great span of access.
Inuyasha chuckled, whispering a tease. “Princess we’re too out in the open to be getting so hot and heavy. Or is this a naughtier side you’ve been hiding from me?”
“S-Sorry,” Kagome blushed. “I don’t know what came over me.”
“No need to apologize love.” He kissed her forehead. “I’m excited too.”
Now that the air had been cleared, the couple decided to go back to the party before someone came looking for them. It was winding down already, and guests were starting to leave. They assisted their parents in giving their thanks and wishing safe journeys to those traveling a distance. Then once they were assured, they were no longer required to stay, Inuyasha and Kagome retreated to their private room.
“Need any pointers?” Miroku whispered to the prince as he escorted them through the castle.
“Pfft, not from you,” Inuyasha sneered back.
Miroku chuckled as they reached the room. “Have fun you two,” he winked before walking away.
“Damn pervert.”
“Leave him be,” Kagome giggled as she pulled Inuyasha into the room and locked the door. “He means well. Will you help me with this dress?”
“I know…” Inuyasha sighed. “And of course. What do you need me to do?”
Kagome’s face heated up, but she stayed with her convictions. I’m a firm, yet tentative tone. “Take it off me.”
Inuyasha’s eyes widened as a grin formed. “With pleasure…”
Their time at the Higurashi castle had come to an end, and the Inu royals said their goodbyes. Kagome’s parents were sad to see her go but were happy with the outcome knowing their son-in-law will take good care of their daughter. Promises were made to visit as often as possible, and they looked forward to the grandchildren yet to come. Sango would stay on and become a member of the Inu kingdom for Kagome, much to the delight of Miroku. The Princess had teased her friend about the budding infatuation, but Sango still refused to admit there was something brewing. That left more addition to the entourage, Sango’s younger brother since he became her ward after the death of their parents. Princess Rin was delighted by the decision because now she’ll have a friend to play with at the palace. Even her father Sesshomaru had taken a surprising interest in the boy’s prospects as a future soldier.
The newlyweds were given their own comfortable carriage to travel in. Which was great because it gave them privacy during the four-day trip. Inuyasha pulled Kagome close and kissed her forehead. “Ready to start our new future Princess?”
“Mmm,” she smiled. “I can’t wait.”

Sorry this final chapter is a bit lackluster, but the last couple of weeks I kinda lost motivation to write. I hope it was still at least okay, and thank you to everyone who's been following along :)

Finally got around to this! Here's my miniseries for August's DDN. You can also read it on Ao3, Dokuga, and FFnet. Banner by the magnificent @cakeit0n!
Tradition
Normally rain would be a good sign. A good omen on days of celebration.
Today it was just an inconvenience.
Sesshoumaru leaned back against the wall of the cave, eyes closed as he listened to the storm rage outside.
It drowned out his senses, effectively muting the world past the opening of his current abode.
He would wait until the skies cleared before returning to his pack, not letting them go too long without his supervision and protection, regardless of Jaken's squawks. It was Rin's worry-filled gaze whenever he returned soaked to the bone that he was trying to avoid.
As was tradition.
Belief
The one thing he could always count on was the miko's ability to intrude on his solitude.
She stumbled into the cave, her curses about the weather echoing off the walls. She wrung out her hair, teeth chattering as she moved deeper into the cave.
Closer to him.
"Guess we both got caught."
"Hnn."
"Do you believe in fate, Sesshoumaru?"
"Fate is for those too weak to make a path for themselves."
She grinned and he found himself entranced by it.
"Maybe, but how else would you explain us ending up in the same place at the same time?"
"Misfortune."
Habit
She had the audacity to laugh.
"Oh, come on, I'm not that bad! I don't make a habit of annoying you on purpose like your brother."
"Half-brother."
"Nuance."
She was still grinning at him, and a slight uneasiness formed in his chest.
Why did this creature, this human female, never smell of fear around him? Her aura was potent, encasing him in the vibrancy of her emotions, but fear was not one of them.
He found it both infuriating and alluring.
Perhaps Rin had been right. Perhaps the miko was special.
Someone to be favoured.
Pretense
She settled down beside him, her arm brushing against the shadow of his as she gazed towards the entrance. "Looks like we might be here a while."
"Hnn."
"I don't suppose you know how to make a fire? It was never one of my strong points."
Sesshoumaru looked down at her, noticing the trembling of her shoulders, the paleness of her skin.
The pretense faltered.
He shrugged his pelt off his shoulder and held it out to her, watching the trepidation in her eyes turn to gratitude before she accepted the gesture.
"Thank you."
She wrapped it around her body, sighing in relief, and he noticed how mokomoko curled protectively around her small frame.
Notion
"Can I ask you something?"
"Would you hold your tongue if I said no?"
The pale twilight revealed the mirth on her face. "Probably not."
"Then why ask in the first place?"
"As a sign of respect."
A slender eyebrow raised at that. How interesting, given their history.
"Ask, Miko."
She shifted her position, sitting on her heels as small hands reached out, fingers brushing against what remained of his missing arm, a dark blush spilling onto her cheeks.
Her voice was soft, almost lost under the roar of the deluge a few feet from them.
"I could fix this. Would you accept help from me?"
The notion had merit.
Legend
He'd heard rumours of those blessed with untold power gaining the ability to heal quicker than even youkai of his standing.
But he'd never seen the legend in action before.
She looked at him with those soulful blue eyes.
Waiting.
Hoping.
She had never harmed him before, would that change now, when she was purposefully trying to heal? To return to him what had been stolen?
A lesser being would have already found death at the end of his claws, and yet he felt no compulsion with her.
The truth escaped his lips before the thought fully formed in his mind.
"You are the only one I would accept it from."
Careful
He appreciated how carefully she rolled up the sleeve of his kimono. She was mindful of his pride, revealing his severed flesh without judgement marring her features.
He felt humbled.
Her fingers traced the scars and Sesshoumaru felt whispers of electricity tease his skin.
She slid his pelt off her shoulders for better access, the dampened fur wrapping itself around her waist as she clasped his arm with both hands, fierce determination causing her eyes to shift from indigo to bright cerulean.
Her hands were warm, then scalding, but there was no pain, just the feel of power spreading from her fingers to where his should have been.
Myth
Youkai were fast healers, but full regeneration of limbs was a myth.
And yet this tiny human was accomplishing the impossible.
His missing limb was nothing but a glimmer at first, but the glow of her reiki slowly increased, illuminating the entire cave as her power flowed through him.
Where had she learned to control it like this? To create such calculated purpose?
Sesshoumaru watched in wonder as bone and muscle were reformed, inch by inch, until even his missing stripes were once again whole.
She let out a ragged breath, her heat beating loudly in his ears before a smile broke out onto her face, shining brighter than the power emanating from her hands.
Coincidence
He extended his arm between them, flexing his fingers to affirm he wasn't hallucinating.
How long had it been since he'd had use of both arms? Since he'd sunk both sets of claws into a foe?
His thoughts were interrupted as she grabbed his wrist, turning it over in her hands, inspecting her work as her thumbs traced magenta stripes.
"I'm glad it worked."
"Why had you never attempted this feat before?"
One shoulder lifted in a carefree shrug as the blush returned to her cheeks.
"You've never been around long enough for me to ask."
Perhaps he should give more credence to her earlier talk of coincidence and fate.
Consequence
Her fingers still lingered on his, that strange electricity returning before she suddenly remembered her place and released him.
She buried her face in his pelt, pulling it back up around her shoulders, taking a deep breath and then peeking at him.
"Are you happy?"
Happiness was a foreign concept—It didn't bring power or prestige—though he supposed he was grateful for the return of his arm.
"Hnn."
That entrancing smile was back, and he wondered if there were other parts of the miko he was not privy to.
Mokomoko tightened around the woman's body, and she started to doze, her body exhausted and settling against his.
And he found himself allowing it.
Consequences be damned.

s3 episode 3 thoughts and oh boy!!! trio time. disaster siblings + yuki time.
- man have i missed the student council. just wow have i missed them
- tbh my first thought is just how cute kimi is at the start of this ep. also i love that she and yuki have this same problem with the seniors suddenly confessing their love/trying to ask them out before they graduate and while yuki’s sitting here like “i can only hurt their feelings :(” kimi’s straight up like “let them throw a pity party!! whatever” queen
- and of course “what makes a guy attractive is his bank account 💖” fave. and kakeru agreeing with “true facts” god the two of them. mhm.
- the way that kimi decimates nao’s entire life and career in one fell swoop. get his ass. also i find it endlessly funny that nao has a crush on minagawa of all girls because she is point blank the most obnoxious girl in the whole school. like it just seems like he wouldn’t have the patience for her at all LMAO but i guess crushes just do that to your brain sometimes
- the girls calling machi scary for knocking over a bunch of chalk while being dead fuckin silent on haru literally destroying their classroom. actually not even dead quiet the girls literally cleaned up after him. hot privilege.
- i’m endlessly curious about how this rumor about machi trying to kill her little brother even got around like. i have to assume it was something that slipped from either her parents or kakeru’s mom to other parents of kids who go to the same school/adjacent schools. because obviously it did not come from kakeru and he’s the only other person who knows yk.
- kakeru: *sulks*
- machi: *trots*
- ugh man it’s machi’s parents just continuing to put her own feelings in her mouth and never once letting her have control over her own personhood, down to displaying her thoughts or emotions. “you’ll be more comfortable alone.” also her dad saying that he assumed that machi might try to hurt her brother and treating that as the truth because she’s never had the space to become an individual to them separate from what they project onto her. how much can you hate your child actually.
- also find it interesting that kakeru has never fully questioned whether or not machi actually tried to kill her brother. when he says it to yuki, he says “what those girls said is pretty close to the truth.” and when yuki says he finds it hard to believe, kakeru says he “may be right,” since it’s just the version of the story he heard from his parents. but all things considered i don’t think he’s necessarily ever believed it to be true; he’s just never been able to see machi’s side of the story because she’s been fully closed off to confiding in him, which is mostly because she feels as though she won’t be listened to or understood anyway thanks to the treatment she’s had from her parents.
- that said. kakeru go to jail
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- it’s about yuki feeling comfortable enough to engage in physical acts of friendship without so much as thinking about it. yeah :)
- i do find it interesting that kakeru remembers this moment of machi making footprints in the snow when they were younger. it’s something that would probably be easily forgettable but it stuck with him because even he found something a little off about it.
- this whole minute is just such a whirlwind. the little arrows pointing to yuki. machi trying to slam the door on them. kakeru dragging yuki in to the point that he’s tripping over his own feet. yuki calling it the sea of decay with sincerity but machi has no idea what the context is. the bra. machi about to throttle yuki. kakeru finally fucking leaving after getting hit and still being a shit. this all happens in like forty seconds.
- her best quality: her squiggles
Tumblr media
- oh this visual of her having to walk this tightrope with her mom. interesting
- also interesting how young machi sounds in this scene where her mom is talking down on her to another person. i know she must be in her first or second year of middle school (just because kakeru was in middle school when he finally got out of the inheritance situation) but it really drives home just how young she was.
- also heartbreaking because this is a moment where machi is trying to stand up for herself and asking why her mom is saying those things about her when she’s the one who shaped her this way, and she’s just so thoroughly shut down by her that she can’t cope.
- i thought this shot was adapted well, although i think the scene itself is kind of confusing -- in the manga, it’s insinuated that she has this breakdown moment right after this conversation with her mom, and that it’s the first time she reacts this destructively (in the manga her outfit is the same between shots, and it doesn’t appear that she’s in her own apartment yet -- it’s more ambiguously just a home office). here though they change it so that it’s a more recent event -- more like she’s reacting this way because she’s remembering this conversation, rather than reacting directly after it. the outfit she wears in this scene is the same one she wears when her parents are accusing her of trying to hurt her brother, too; it’s also reasonable to read this as her having a breakdown after being left alone in her apartment for the first time. to the team’s credit her window is also broken in the season 2 ep where we see her apartment for the first time, so we can assume that they made this change deliberately.
Tumblr media
- yuki is so genuinely kind as usual, but it’s also because he does have a thread of personal understanding of where she’s coming from. he also suffered from being held to an incredibly high standard and was similarly emotionally neglected because of this, but it’s also something he’s come to terms with and has started to heal and move on from. so he’s at a place where he’s able to give her some comfort. even just the simple act of praise for still being here, and just being herself, is something that is so desperately needed.
- kakeru listening in..... boy take ur notes
- literally yuki is like the epitome of being machi’s senior like this moment is just sooo gentle but also protective i think. like he’s really just taking the helm where kakeru has been unable to all this time. he’s her mentor in a way.
- kakeru’s goofy fucking ringtone and the animation that goes with it. love that
- the chalk-breaking scene did change the game. yuki is just completely on for her to the point that he doesn’t even stop what he’s saying to consider it. he’s just really looking out for her :’(
- rest of the ep under the cut because i know this is gonna be about minagawa lmfao
- oh this new scene is cute? love kyo actually helping out + uo and hana just fucking chilling. also uo hana and yuki only giving a fuck about tohru while kyo falls from like eight feet up.
- yuki literally only coming in for that second lmfao king
- i knew that this would be the minagawa ep and yet when yuki said he had an appointment i was like...... are you....... going to the doctor’s for some reason....... this is a weird reboot addition..............
- the beginning of this scene is weeeeeird what a weird transition to minagawa. also this feels super jarring and i knew this was coming?? like there’s no setup for this being a goodbye to minagawa she’s just suddenly sitting there getting super nostalgic
- i am grateful though that they didn’t split the time these chapters got completely 50-50. minagawa only getting like five minutes of screentime before gong away forever feels apt.
- minagawa really is just here to say “thank you yuki for being the center of my harassment campaign on the general student body here for these past two years” before bouncing. this isn’t even a point of character development she literally didn’t learn anything.
- the pacing of this feels so WEIRD like. on the one hand, glad it’s only five minutes. on the other hand why was it included at all. it really dampers the rest of the ep and just feels super distracting.
- the dramatic music....... the dramatic flashbacks......... i mean it tracks for her but i just cannot take it seriously lmaooo
- wow the way this is delivered just makes this scene with minagawa feel extra undeserved. like even more so than in the manga. that’s pretty incredible.
- am i going to sit here and make mental parallels between the fact that neither minagawa nor machi actually know yuki personally. like they’ve both been observing him from afar this whole time. like is that the parallel i’m supposed to draw this episode that both of these girls have crushes on him but he hasn’t actually divulged anything personal to either of them. idk. like i know the answer is no and that it’s more fodder for him having a romance plot and whatever but. idk!
- what is happening what is happening what is happening
Tumblr media
- this departing song + the shots of the empty school feels so fucking weird. we’re saying goodbye to minagawa and takei. what is being imparted emotionally does not match the actual narrative we are receiving. also feels weird to put a scene with this much “goodbye” emotion in the third episode?
- did i just fast forward through this nao and minagawa scene. maybe.
- oh that’s right we also get hiro at the end of this chapter too. and kagura talking about rin. this pacing is weird
- it still baffles me that rin was able to graduate how tf did she manage that
- wow i really wish these last parts of the ep were moved to the next episode or something. they feel really out of place squashed into the end here. this rin bit definitely deserved more time to let the weight sink in.

Your thoughts and headcannons on Nemuri Hachigou because I don't think she gets talked about enough, when in reality she's pretty interesting, she's essentially, a blank slate, Mayuri's second chance that I don't think he feels like he deserves. She's Nemu but she isn't and I think people(especially Mayuri) forget that a lot, that's a fascinating position to be in.
Puttin’ this under a cut because I’m gonna say some unkind things about Mayuri and I do not want to cause any distress to the many lovely people on this website who delight in his horrible antics.
This is not so much a headcanon so much as a thing I came up with for fanfiction purposes, but it’s all I got.
Right. So, like I said, I despise Mayuri. I just hate him. I understand that he appeals to some people, but I strongly dislike the dude and go to exorbitant lengths to avoid him ever appearing in my fanfic.
Additionally, I do not vibe with Nemu 7. She registers as not-a-person for me, she’s basically an extension of Mayuri himself. Don’t get me wrong, I find Mayuri’s treatment of her to be vile and I wish someone would take her away from him, but she comes off as very robotic to me. She is conscious, but she is not an independent being, if that makes sense. She is not a real girl. It’s funny that Mayuri keeps talking about how advanced she is, because clearly he means only her cognitive and fighting abilities. In terms of recreating a person, she’s incredibly primitive compared to the other mod souls we see. Take Kon, for example, who has a fairly limited powerset, but is never presented as less of a soul than any of the other characters. An even more interesting example is Ururu and Jinta. Ururu is described as being older than Jinta, and she is clearly “less human” than him-- she has less affect, she shifts into a distinct “attack” mode, etc, which implies that Jinta represents advances in mod soul technology. It’s notable that Urahara and Tessai and even Renji, in the canon scene where he protects the Shouten kids, never treats them as anything less than people. The contrast with the way Mayuri treats Nemu is stark. He likes that her feelings and personality are limited, he sees this as a feature.
I was completely unmoved by the entire chapter where Nemu died. Her sacrifice did not come across to me as anything indicating growth or humanity-- in every battle she's ever been in, she nearly dies because Kurotsuchi tells her to. She simply prioritizes Mayuri over herself. She always has. It’s simply the logical extension of her programming. A lot of people say they would have preferred Nemu to live and Mayuri to die and for sure I would have *preferred* that, but I have never seen Nemu as enough of a character to be worth rooting for. Like, at least Uryuu would have gotten some satisfaction form killing his clown ass, and that might have convinced me for at least half a second that he actually was on the side of the Quincy.
Caveat: if some talented fanficcer wants to write a short novel on Nemu discovering her humanity etc etc, I’m all for it, I’m just saying that canon hasn’t given us anything to suggest she would do more than just shut down without Mayuri to tell her what to do.
Onto Nemuri 8. I can’t believe they let Mayuri have another one. It makes my blood boil. The dude is an on-screen abuser and Kubo had the gall to try to make me feel sorry feel him (I did not) and then gave him another one.
So, I took her away from him.
I mentioned earlier that I go to great lengths to keep Mayuri the hell out of my fanfic, and usually the way I do that is to have my characters go through Akon whenever they have to deal with Squad 12. I think I started doing this because Akon is sort of weirdly familiar with Renji and Rukia in the TYBW, but I have projected all over him and he’s mine now. The way I assume Squad 12 functions, based on my career in scientific programming, is that Mayuri is like a primary investigator-- he's the Big Ideas guy and he spends a lot of time doing wholly self-directed research. He’s the face of Squad 12, so he has to go talk to the Captain-Commander and beg for money and defend blowing things up, but when it comes to science stuff, he does what he wants. Nemu is the lieutenant, and I think she handles most of the usual lieutenanting-- paperwork, meetings, etc., but I think Mayuri takes up a lot of her time by using her as a personal lab assistant on his wacky projects. There's nothing wrong with this, but I think in a lot of squads, the lieutenant is responsible for the day-to-day running of the squad and spends a lot of time dealing with their subordinates and other lieutenants. Nemu, instead, focuses on her captain. Now, the rest of the Gotei counts on Squad 12 for a lot actually-- gigai, Hollow tracking, Dangai monitoring, etc. etc. From the point of view of most science people, this stuff is mundane-- it’s all application, not development, and all the difficulty is in the twitchy little details. It’s frustrating and it’s unrewarding and you never get credit for it, and it is vitally important. There is a certain kind of science professional that makes a career out of this. They usually have master's degrees instead of PhDs, and they are usually tragically underpaid and underappreciated for what they do. In the real world, without these people, you wouldn’t have mass vaccination sites or weather data on your phone or cute li’l robots landing on other planets. In Bleach, these are the people keeping soul reapers alive in the field. And in my mind, this is Akon’s department.
So here’s the headcanon:
After Nemu’s death, Mayuri has so much sad clown pain about it that he wants another robot child poste-haste, but can’t bring himself to do the actual work, so he shoves it off onto Akon, with a list of the design specs he wants. The last one was pretty good, Akon can handle a few minor upgrades, it doesn’t need his personal hand in it. Thinking about going through all that work again just pisses him off, honestly. What a waste!
And Akon's like, yeah, cool, fine. It was heavily implied that he did a lot of the work on Nemu 7, it's just a matter of digging out his old notes and cleaning out some vats.
Except that, right around the same time, Rukia and Renji decide to have a baby.
Babies are super rare in the Gotei, and it’s not like those stuffy nobles are gonna let Akon look at their precious offspring. But Rukia is a rank weirdo, and Akon is their pal, so she’s always like “I hear they have these things in the Living World where you can pee on a stick and tell if you’re pregnant, can you make me one?” and Akon’s brain goes, “Wow, what even is the first detectable sign of a newly formed soul, this is very interesting.” So, at the same time he’s trying to grow a new and improved Nemu, he’s got access to the developing fetus of two captain-class shinigami. So when he has to pick between eight good candidate embryos to move to the next vat, he picks… not the one with the strongest reiatsu signature, like they did last time, but the one whose reiatsu looks the most like a real baby.
Akon reminds me of a lot of programmers I know, so I always sort of headcanon him as particularly interested in whatever passes for programming in Squad 12, and I think he takes special interest in revamping Nemu’s artificial intelligence system, which is primarily based on taking in information about the world and building up a realistic personality based on people she observes. In particular, it gives extra weight to “people who resemble her”. Nemu 7 was raised by Squad 12, so she came up very Squad 12, just like Mayuri wanted. Unfortunately, toddler Hachigou Nemuri’s algorithm unexpectedly decides that she has much more in common with toddler Abarai Ichika than any of the adult soul reapers around her.
Nemuri 8 is a very successful sample in terms of power and intelligence but she’s also very boisterous, and the rest of Squad 12 is like “Akon do something” so Akon takes drastic measures: he asks Renji for parenting advice. Distressingly, Renji is full of useful ideas like “tire her out” and “only fight the important battles” and “we’re signed up for baby yoga, you wanna start comin’ to baby yoga? Your back is gonna thank you.”
Akon didn't mean to let them hang out so much, but Ichika is a very useful data point and also if he takes Nemuri over to the Abarai house, the girls will entertain themselves (i.e. chew on each other) long enough for him to have a beer with Renji and Rukia and honestly my man really needs that beer.
I don’t think Akon thinks of himself as Nemu’s dad past the first time when she calls him ‘Daddy’ and he corrects her (she only did it because that’s what Ichika calls Renji, very predictable quirk of her programming). She’s just a work project. She’s not even his project, she’s Mayuri’s project, he’s just handling the little details. Fathering just happens to be an adjacent field of study that he’s found to contain a number of very useful best practices.
I would prefer not to get into the detail of the physical abuse that Mayuri uses against Nemu 7, but I would like to think that Akon finds ways to protect Nemuri 8 from the same, or barring that, maybe this is what finally drives Akon to murder Kurotsuchi and become Squad 12 captain himself.
Other Nemuri Headcanons:
Her favorite book is Rejection of the Twin Fishes!, Captain Ukitake’s posthumously published children’s book.
She prefers to be called “Nemuri” over “Nemu.”
Nemuri’s second favorite person in Squad 12 after Akon is Rin, because he always has candy. Rin actually likes having someone to share his hobby with and helps her make a World of the Living Snack Bucket List. When other shinigami come in for gigai, Nemuri constantly tries to con them into bringing something back for her.
Rukia teaches her to cuss, but tells her never to do it around Akon. Nemuri never actually cusses around anyone, but really enjoys having Forbidden Knowledge.
Speaking of Forbidden, she is mildly obsessed with Urahara, even though she’s never met him. She’s constantly on the lookout for thumbprints of his work in modern Squad 12 technology.
The one thing she does have in common with Mayuri is an absolutely batshit personal aesthetic. She starts painting her face as a tween and is somewhat inconveniently both into piercings and inflatable outfits.
The true proof that she has surpassed her predecessor, at least in terms of humanity, is that she is able to learn the name of her zanpakutou.
Oh, if you want to read any of my fanfics with Nemuri, here's one where she and Ichika play football and here's one where she tries to con Byakuya into buying her shaved ice. I really like writing Nemuri hanging out with Byakuya because I think an adult man who navigates social settings via rigid system of etiquette and class hierarchy and a small child with a pile of Markov chains for a brain would be natural friends.

EPISODE 5: The Band of Seven, Resurrected
WELCOME TO EPISODE 5! So far, episode 6 is up on my Patreon already, and episode 7 is in progress. Support me on Patreon to see stuff first!
IMPORTANT: I am starting to integrate the art into the story a little differently! Instead of just visualizing a moment in the scene, the image will replace the lines it's depicting. It'll work more like a hybrid graphic novel, that way it'll flow better. (So don't skip over the art, read it like you would a western comic!)
Reminder: [Dialogue like this is English!]
EPISODE 5, LESSGO! ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆
It was a bit of a long flight between the bone-eater’s well and the spot where Luna last left her sister and her friends.
They were still headed northeast, still trying to find Naraku. But Luna’s supply of ammunition only lasted so long, and she decided she probably needed more medical supplies if they were all gonna make it past this war with Naraku. So she’d gone back to the modern era for a few days, and called Alice to get her connections with other Hunters in Japan—so Luna could make more Sacred Salt rounds without having to explain to international customs why she was getting a bunch of empty shotgun shells, non-native herbs, and a few other assorted (weird) things she needed.
So she’d gone home for a few days. Thankfully, she didn’t have to walk; Airisu (who still objected to Luna calling her ‘Alice’, but agreed to the simple nickname ‘Ai’) in full demon form could fly pretty fast, but she ran out of steam after about an hour. It took them a full day (including rest time) to get back to the village, and the same on the way back.
But before they joined back up with their friends, Luna had a stop to make.
Tumblr media
It ain’t hard to miss, she thought snarkily, he’s like a damn homing beacon.
Finally, among all the green of the forests, she spotted a speck of white. Easy. “There they are!”
Ai set them down just behind the little group of travelers—Rin, the little imp Jaken, the big horse-dragon (Ah-Un, Luna believed?), and heading the line was, of course, Lord Fussy Britches himself. Rin spotted them before they touched down, and greeted delightfully:
“Miss Luna!”
The Hunter’s arrival brought the others to a halt, and for some reason, Luna found a very smug satisfaction in the incredibly irritated, over-the-shoulder side eye she got from Sesshomaru. But she paid him no mind; she was here for Rin.
Tumblr media
Luna held out her hand, unfolding her fingers to reveal three beautiful pearls, strung on a little leather cord. Each of them glinted with an odd pink sheen and were warm to the touch; anyone with any sort of spiritual senses might’ve picked up on the soft energy radiating from them.
Tumblr media
Luna tied the cord tightly at the ends and moved to slip it over the little girl’s head.
“As if she would ever need such a ridiculous thing!”
Luna swore one of these days, she was gonna drop kick that little frog. “Look, dude—”
“It’s Jaken, insolent human!”
“—I’m just looking out for her. No need to burst a blood vessel.”
“What is she to you?”
Luna was actually shocked to be addressed by Sesshomaru himself. He was still giving her the side eye, but there was less irritation and more of… something Luna couldn’t place. Maybe she was flirting with death, but she couldn’t resist.
She stood tall, chin high, and responded: “What is she to you?”
There was the anger: contained, but frigid and harsh as the Arctic behind those amber eyes. Sesshomaru did not answer her, but Jaken sure did.
“How dare you, human! Your nerve is surpassed only by your stupidity to speak to Lord Sesshomaru that way! Surely you wish for death!”
Only sometimes. “Can it, Kermit!” She snapped at him, “I ask because he’s always leaving her alone, with nothing but you to protect her! You, who are half her size and don’t have much in the way of defense!” She moved her challenging gaze to Sesshomaru again, steadfast. “So I ask again, what is she to you, if you leave her with barely any protection so often? Because to me, she’s a friend and I care about her, so I brought her these as a last resort option, in case you’re not around and she needs help.”
There it was, that unreadable expression again. Sesshomaru was definitely incomparable at hiding his true emotions—something Luna could absolutely not stand. Tense silence hung in the air for a moment, before Luna shrugged, holding her hands up.
“Hey, think of it this way,” She said, trying a sly little smile, “You’re a busy guy. It’s one less thing you have to worry about. And if she never needs them, at least it’s a pretty necklace.”
Man, this guy was good at keeping quiet. But now, the icy glare was gone. Luna swore she could see just the tiniest arc of a silver eyebrow before the demon turned back around on the path they’d all been heading.
“Jaken, let’s go.”
Flabbergasted, Jaken tripped over himself trying to follow. “Y-yes milord!”
Grinning, Luna got back down to Rin’s level. “You take care, okay kid?”
“I will! And thank you so much for these— I don’t think I’ll need them because Lord Sesshomaru always comes to save me, but I’ll wear them anyway!”
“That’s all I ask,” This little angel was definitely gonna need it at some point. “But if you do need me, I’ll always be there for you, okay? I promise.”
The smile on Rin’s face could’ve melted the ice caps. “Thank you.”
Luna stopped her as she started to leave. “Hold on, one more thing. Each one only works once before it shatters, so you gotta save them for when you’re really in trouble, okay?”
“Okay, I will! Bye, Miss Luna!” Rin grinned, waving at her friend before hurrying after the demons.
Luna chuckled, turning back to Ai for a second before something occurred to her. “Hey, Sesshomaru!”
He didn’t turn to look at her this time, but he did pause in his walking.
Good enough. “I heard there was something going down in the Northeast—direction of the Ox and Tiger. Something to do with Naraku. Thought you might like to know.” She didn’t wait to see if he heard or registered what she said; she just hopped back on Ai’s back, and the two of them took off.
“I hope you know conflating bravery with stupid pride is more than likely to get you killed one of these days.” Ai said as she lifted into the sky.
“Oh most definitely,” Luna laughed. “But as much of a pompous man-child as he is, you can tell he cares for that girl more than he’s willing to admit.”
“That may be, but he’ll definitely kill you if you keep disrespecting him.”
“That’s a risk I’m willing to take, for Rin’s sake.” Luna’s voice was soft, carried off by the wind. “That little angel’s been through enough, she deserves someone in her corner.”
~    ~    ~
Finally catching sight of their friends again was a bit of a relief for both Luna and Ai. It had been a long couple of days, going all the way home and coming back. Part of Luna hoped they’d get just a little bit of rest before whatever shit hit the fan next, but another part knew the odds on that were pretty low. Still, it was nice to be back.
Kagome was the first to spot them as they flew in. “It’s Luna!”
“Luna’s back!” Shippo proclaimed joyfully.
“Hey, y’all,” Luna greeted as Ai touched down. She hopped off the demon’s back as her friends offered their greetings. “What’d I miss?” She asked.
Miroku was the one to answer. “Quite a lot. It seems that we may encounter a new enemy: the local villagers recently informed us of a group of mercenaries called the Band of Seven. The villagers believe these ruthless killers may have been brought back from the dead.”
With a grin on her face, Luna shrugged at the idea. “Undead mercs, huh? Nothin’ we can’t handle.” She held up her fist for her sister to bump it, and as Ai changed back to her human form, Luna noticed their little group was smaller than it should’ve been. “Where’s Sango?”
Kagome bumped fists with her sister, smiling at Luna’s nonchalant comment. “She went off with Kilala. I sensed a Jewel Shard nearby earlier… so I think she may have gone to look for Kohaku.”
Luna didn’t have time to respond. Off in the distance, she heard the distinctive echo of a sound she was all too familiar with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Inuyasha hopped up onto a tree limb, hoping to get a look at what was happening. He couldn’t see it, but he sure as hell could smell it. “And it ain’t from just a handful of people, either.”
So much for a second to rest, Luna chuckled to herself as she tightened the straps on her backpack and immediately kicked into gear. “What’re we waiting for, then?”
And off they were, charging headlong into danger as always. Luna could sense something was up; more so than usual. The stench of blood was never a good sign in the first place, but there was something else setting off warning bells. Something she couldn’t put a finger on.
Tumblr media
The smell got stronger and stronger, until… they reached its source. Despite the amount of nasty shit she’d seen in her ten years of hunting supernatural monsters, there were some things that still turned her stomach, and seeing a single human being standing in a veritable ring of blood and gore was definitely one of them. His black hair was pulled into a twist; his lips were painted red, he had blue tattoos like tear tracks under each eye, and one side of his kimono was tucked up under his belt. The dude was just squatting in the middle of the carnage, eyeballing the barrel of a matchlock gun like it was his first time seeing one (which, hell, it might be, she thought to herself; in this time, they would’ve only recently been invented). He seemed completely unbothered by the dozen and a half bodies of freshly murdered warriors and their horses surrounding him.
Inuyasha was the one to get to the scene just ahead of the others, calling back over his shoulder: “Stay back! Don’t come over here!”
Instinctively, Luna remained in front of her sister, her arm out to try and block her view. Her stomach was churning, and her hand was poised to pull her gun if needed. No way this guy could be human… right?
“Did… that one person do all this?” Kagome’s voice was a shocked whisper.
It was then that the guy in the middle noticed them. He stood, his sword over his shoulder and his head cocked slightly to the side.
“Are you the one I’ve been looking for?” He asked, a grin on his face as he shielded his eyes from the sun. “Are you Inuyasha?!”
“Got a bad feeling about this.” Luna mumbled, “That guy isn't a demon, is he?”
“I don’t think so,” Kagome uttered back to her, “I don’t sense a demonic aura….”
“How’d you know my name?!” Inuyasha demanded.
He got no answer out of the guy with the sword. Instead, the guy squealed: “You’re adorable!”
A dumbfounded silence fell over the group. Luna glanced around at the others to make sure she didn’t just lose her mind—but no, the general consensus among her friends was along the lines of ‘what the actual fuck?’
“I especially love those fuzzy ears of yours!” The guy continued, licking his lips. “I want them~”
Alright, so this guy was nuts. Luna had had enough of ignoring the bad vibe she was picking up from him. She dropped her bag next to Kagome’s bike and readied herself for a fight: detached the ammo bag and shotgun holster from her pack and slung them over her shoulder, slipped her short sword through one of the belt loops on her jeans, and pulled her shotgun to make sure it was in hand and loaded. She kept her eyes moving back and forth between Inuyasha and the dude with the sword during the next exchange:
“Who are you?” Inuyasha demanded, “What are you after? You don’t smell like a living person, you reek like corpses and graveyard soil!”
No answer.
“Inuyasha,” Miroku said in realization: “Could he be—?”
“Yep,” Inuyasha confirmed, before calling out to the guy with the sword again: “Some villagers were talking! They said some disgusting specter rose up from the grave. That’d be you, I presume!”
Right, zombies, Luna thought to herself; if he really is undead, the Sacred Salt won’t do as much as it would a demon… It’d sting, but what I really need is-… She smirked and holstered her gun again, grabbing a different weapon from the bottom of her bag.
“Are you one of the Band of Seven?!” Miroku asked of the specter as Luna was tuning back in. “Answer me!”
After a long pause as the specter seemed to size the monk up, his response was even worse than before. “Inuyasha really is good looking, but you’re pretty sexy yourself~”
Luna snorted so hard she thought she was gonna eject her brain through her nose. Ai whacked her in the arm as a warning.
“No one minds if I suck him up, do they?” Miroku grumbled.
“No.” Inuyasha said, flatly.
“Hold on!” Kagome said, “He’s got a Sacred Jewel Shard! He must’ve been revived with the power of the Shard!”
“So that was what I was sensing,” Luna mumbled, “but why does it feel off...?”
“Where’d you get the Jewel Shard?!” Inuyasha once again attempted to pose a question to their opponent, only to once again receive a weird, adoring response:
“You know, you’re cute when you’re angry~!”
“Shut up!” Inuyasha shouted, jumping forward and drawing his sword. “Alright, dead man, you’d better start talking to me, and I want real answers!”
The expression on the specter’s face shifted from one of reverence to one more sadistic as he regarded Tetsusaiga. “That’s an interesting sword you have there… let’s see whose is stronger.” He lifted his own sword, making an odd motion around his head and shoulders with it as if he were gearing up for something. “Yours or mine?!”
When he brought his arm down, something that looked almost like a bolt of silver lightning shot from his blade. Inuyasha barely had the chance to block it as it cut an arc through the air toward him.
“Inuyasha!” Kagome called out in surprise.
“Stay back!” Miroku threw his arm out in an attempt to shield the others. “It’s some kind of trick sword!”
“That’s my cue!” Ai shifted into full demon form, jerking her head at the sisters and the little fox. “All aboard!”
Kagome climbed on no issue, but Luna glanced at Miroku, who made no move to follow them. “You coming?”
“I’ll be alright, you keep them safe.” Miroku said, resolute. Not about to argue, Luna climbed on the demon’s back and Ai leapt into the air above the fight.
“You gonna be okay holding all of us after that long flight?” Luna asked her friend.
“I’m fine, it’s the same weight as you with your pack on.” Ai sassed back.
“Yeah well, fuck me for being prepared,” Luna laughed, starting to prep the other weapon she’d brought.
Kagome managed to tear her eyes from the confrontation below to try and see what her sister was doing. “What did you bring, Luna?”
Luna grinned as she clicked the last accessory into place, then turned back to show her sister. “This? This is my baby.” She held up her favorite weapon: it was a fully-customized folding compound crossbow as long as Luna’s arm. She pressed a release on the side, and the arms shot into place, making both Shippo and Kagome jump.
“Whoa!” The fox demon exclaimed, “What kind of a weapon is that?!”
“It’s a crossbow, Shippo,” Kagome explained, “It’s kind of like my bow, but the arrows are smaller and it’s easier to fire.”
“Self-loading, too,” Luna smirked as she strung it up, “The ‘arrows’ are called bolts or darts. This thing can shoot way faster than a longbow, and since we’re dealing with Zombie Harley Quinn down there—” She grabbed a bolt from her ammo bag to show it to them, “—we’re gonna need these. They’re tipped with pure silver. Great for dealing with Vampires, Werewolves, The Undead, and The Unholy.”
Shippo reached out to touch it, but Kagome stopped him, shaking her head rapidly. “It’s safe to assume you shouldn’t touch anything Luna has in her bag, Shippo.”
The kid swallowed nervously. “G-got it...”
Below them, the fight continued. Inuyasha could barely avoid each strike of the snakelike sword, and his opponent only seemed to be having more and more fun.
“What do you think of Jakotsu of the Band of Seven, huh?!” He shouted as he swung the sword once more.
“Not too much!” Inuyasha came back at him with Tetsusaiga, but to no avail.
Kagome gasped. “He needs help!”
“That’s what this baby’s for,” Luna grinned, patting her crossbow. “Ai, can you stay out of reach of the sword but get me close enough to shoot?!”
“It’ll take a miracle!”
“Better start praying, then,” Luna lined up the shot, finger still as stone on the trigger. There was a familiar voice in the back of her head; she could hear her father saying: “Aim for where they’re gonna be, not where they are.”
I know, dad. She tried not to sigh audibly as she managed to get Jakotsu’s head in her crosshairs and pulled the trigger, quick as a viper.
And… almost missed him.
Tumblr media
The consecrated silver bolt seemed to burn through the air as it shot just centimeters shy of the specter’s nose and grazed his arm, burning a hole in his kimono. He whipped his attention to the woman who shot it.
“How dare you interfere?!” He snarled, rearing his arm back and whipping his blade toward them.
Luna felt her stomach drop.
Tumblr media
“You idiot!” Ai snapped at her, trying to fly out of range of the sword as Kagome and Shippo both clung, screaming, to Luna’s back. Just as the sword arched toward them, there was a familiar cry of:
“HIRAIKOTSU!”
And Jakotsu’s blade was then tangled around the aforementioned boomerang. All three riding on Ai’s back sighed in relief when they saw Sango swoop in on Kilala. Ai touched down just as Kilala did, transforming into her human form and unceremoniously dumping the sisters on their asses.
“Are you all okay?” Sango called over to them.
“We’re fine!” Shippo answered.
“Perfect timing, Sango!” Kagome said.
“Some weapon, Luna!” Ai huffed in the Hunter’s direction. Luna just stuck her tongue at her.
Jakotsu was practically red in the face, shrieking in frustration: “What is with all you vile women?! Can’t you see I’m trying to battle Inuyasha?!” In the same breath, he whipped his sword again, toward Sango this time. The movement freed Hiraikotsu, and ended up leaving a small slice on Sango’s arm as Jakotsu pulled it back.
“Stay out of this!” He continued, “None of you will interfere!”
But their “interference” had served Inuyasha well enough: it gave him just the opportunity he needed to rear back and punch the specter in the face.
“Shut up! I’m tired of listening to your pointless babble!” Inuyasha growled.
Jakotsu grunted as he tumbled back, then rubbed his cheek and pouted like a kicked puppy. “That was cruel…”
“Oh, get over it!” Inuyasha snapped, “Now tell me who gave you the Sacred Jewel Shard before I have to seriously hurt you!”
Kagome and Miroku rushed to see if Sango was okay, but she assured them that it was just a graze; she was fine. Her attention was more on the subject at hand.
“I have a feeling that the shard came from Naraku,” She said, somberly. She looked at Kagome. “When you sensed a Jewel Shard earlier… it was Kohaku. I saw the Saimiyosho around him as well.”
“That means that your brother is still under Naraku’s control…” Miroku said. Sango nodded.
Luna had set her weapon down next to her backpack, and came back with a bandage for Sango’s arm. Her mind was going at a million miles an hour, trying to figure out how the hell they were gonna handle this—first an undead band of Ronin, now they have something to do with Naraku. What was Naraku playing at...?
“Gotta wonder what the hell is next…” Luna mumbled sarcastically.
Seconds later, she would regret asking. A cloud of black smoke poured over the cliffside, drifting right toward them.
Like he knew what was happening, Jakotsu got up and collected his sword. “Inuyasha! You should get out of here while you can! Bye!” And with that, he was just… gone.
“What the hell—” Inuyasha broke off with a startled yell when the cloud reached him. “Its poison!”
“But where’s it coming from?!” Miroku wondered.
“We need to move.” Luna reassembled her bag in less than thirty seconds—side effect of doing it so often. “We can figure out what the hell is going on when we’re safely away from here!”
Why do I feel like we stepped into something huge here? Luna thought to herself as the group of friends moved away from the cloud of gas.

I’m fairly sure at this point that Naruto is more or less fascist propaganda. There are so many things that we as a fandom want to turn a blind eye to yet when SNK was called out for being fascist, we had no problem boycotting it because it wasnt an anime that we’d come to love throughout our childhood. Unfortunately Naruto was a lot more subtle and pulled a fast one on us towards the end - 14/15 years after its initial release.
Theres a lot of intricate reasons as to why I’d call it fascist but I’ll list the general points to be made that everyone can easily recognize.
• Genocide for the good of the nation. This one is pretty obvious but I thought I’d get it out of the way. Slaughtering possible defectors of the state is apparently an honourable and justified choice. Even if some members of the oppressed minority were completely unaware of their leaders planned coup or had no desire to revolt against the system, each and every single one of them apparently deserved death.
• Brainwashing children into military violence goes completely unquestioned by the narrative. The only people who challenge this idea are portrayed as “hateful.” The best example of this is how the narrative feels the need to emphasize that Itachi murdering his clan was his own decision. I just find it awfully strange that we’re expected to believe that a 13 year old, who was sent to fight in a bloody war for his country when he was just a toddler and was shown to suffer from severe PTSD, apparently wasnt brainwashed with threats of war on his impressionable child brain when he was already completely numb to the concept of killing people. Itachis history details the story of a brainwashed child soldier yet goes to great efforts to brush it aside and give Itachi the autonomy that he never actually had. On a meta level it’s pretty messed up that Itachis actions as a result of his brainwashing, was praised by Hashirama Senju - the ultimate force of “peace” who founded the village and “the will of fire” that were so expected to admire.
• Consistent denial of blatant military violence. In the manga, the truth about the Uchiha massacre is covered up by Naruto, Sasuke and eventually Sakura to “maintain honour of the Uchiha.” This makes absolutely no logical sense whatsoever. How is it more honourable to say that a clan was slaughtered by a rogue criminal of their own (further perpetuating the selfish, bloodthirsty and power-hungry stereotype) when the truth is that an oppressed group of people were slaughtered off by the government? How can an act of genocide be prevented by a future government when the truth is actively censored by the governemnt? Neither Naruto nor Sasuke did anything to implement some sort of bill of human rights, laws or Geneva conventions in honour of Uchiha to prevent more innocent bloodshed at the hands of the state.
• Ultranationalism at every opportunity. The village is literally gated off. No one enters or leaves without permission from authority. The unification of the village under the statist military + the slaughter of any and all potential defectors is pretty telling. Its scary that “the will of fire” and protecting the state is the only honourable and good goal/ideology to have in this series as shown by Sasuke only ever being seen as “not evil” when he is beaten down into conforming to the government.
• Evil is in the genetics of the oppressed. This was pretty unsettling to witness and I’m surprised there havent been more people speaking out about it. Ideologies are inherited not just by fate, but by your genetics. The Senju-Uzumaki obviously have “The will of fire” which is known to be the supreme ideology. It consists of uniting and enduring the hardships of the world under the totalitarian government but NEVER pursuing revolution or change for the better. “The curse of hatred” is its counterpart which has its origins exclusively to the Uchiha. Its explained to be Uchiha culture to some degree. The narrative very desperately tries to paint the pursuit of revolution to prevent more violence as evil, bloodthirsty and selfish. This, in reality, makes no sense. Why are the Uchiha hateful for trying to fix a situation for the better of their family yet somehow the senju arent characterized by hatred despite openly hating the Uchiha? Simply put, the Uchiha are GENETICALLY undesirable and their push for equal rights are characterized as hateful, selfish and lonely. In reality, Madara Uchiha would not become a rogue ninja who decides to attack the entire village including his own family with Kurama because he could not get equal rights for the Uchiha. This doesnt add up with why he was so angry in the first place. Non of the “bloodthirsty” actions of any Uchiha do. They’re a fictional race of people that are only evil by the design of the author to portray oppressed people as selfish and aggressive. Towards the end of the fourth war, the story of Ashura and Indra is told to Naruto and Sasuke. Indra is apparently the original Uchiha who was influenced by some deranged evil spirit to pursue power over unification for completely selfish purposes. This is very unfairly equated to Sasuke and the rest of the Uchiha clan to explain to audience that the Uchiha are inherently evil and selfish detractors.
• To be a revolutionary is to be lonely. This ties into my last point. Sasuke is constantly referred to as lonely by just about everyone in the cast, Naruto especially. This has always been bothersome because Sasuke wouldnt have been lonely if his entire clan wasnt slaughtered by the very same people that Naruto stands by. This point is incredibly simple yet its overlooked because the anti-uchiha propaganda is so successful in what it sets out to do. To add onto this point, what if Naruto had simply said to Sasuke “I believe you have every right to bring the murderer of your clan to justice and I’ll stand by your right to justice every step of the way” instead of physically fighting him and screaming at him all the time? Sasuke isnt inherently lonely exclusively by his own means, he is alienated by everyone around him. The narrative acknowledges Sasukes emotional unfulfillment, IGNORES the real reason why hes lonely and then states that the only way that Sasuke will find a sense of family through the acceptance of his peers is if he conforms to the government and adopts the hegemonic ideology…. after “repenting” for ever daring to get justice for his clan in the first place. This eerie emotional blackmail is completely normalized and unquestioned by the narrative. It sends a harrowing message to the audience that it’s more desirable and fulfilling to conform to the government despite their poor treatment of your people and should you question otherwise, you must repent for forgiveness.
• The leader of the village is the most powerful member of the military, who is chosen exclusively through nepotism by a rich man who owns the land instead of the people, and is in power for an indeterminate length of  time. Again with the military obsession! Not even necessarily the best military commander or anyone with experience in any leadership position at all. This is partly fascist due to the fact that theres no limitations on what a Kage can do to their village, they’re selected through nepotism and not democracy and they’re in power for as long as they please no matter how the public feel. The leader is not necessarily someone who is shown to be compassionate, responsible, trustworthy, intelligent or reliable. In fact, you could be a known, unpersecuted war criminal like Danzo and still get the position.
• To add on to that, war criminals in the Government or Military go completely unpersecuted and often unpunished - as shown by Danzo and the village elders. The village elders are still in the same position during the events of Boruto as they were in over 20 years ago when they conspired to execute the Uchiha massacre. Naruto and Sasuke know of their involvement yet havent held them accountable in any way.
• Child soldiers are sent to die for the government. It seems that only Obito notices this when Rin dies. The second he becomes critical of the fact of this reality is the second he becomes “hateful” and “evil."
Theres plenty more but I’ve already spent an hour typing this up and checking over every little detail. Generally speaking, much like SNK, the theme of Naruto is to just simply ENDURE hardship, stay loyal to your government at all costs even if they cause the hardship and NEVER revolt. Naruto as a character serves as the purpose of being as reductive as possible to every single character that faces hardship with "I too was lonely and oppressed but I coped by worshipping the government for a sense of emotional validation and you can too!"
