It downed on me during that scene when Steve realizes something's off about Max and runs up the hill that he has probably been the most reliable grown up male figure in Max's entire life. Let that sink in.
He's always watching over and being stern with her because he knows she can be even more reckless than the rest, since limits haven't been properly taught to her by adults. She has had to be the adult of her house and has forgotten how to be a carefree kid. But Steve is all "Nh-huh, no, you stay put kid." (Exactly as he does with Dustin.) Which is probably why when she stares at Steve for me is a sign that she has come to admire him/trust him as a reliable "adult". (He isn't an adult either but you guys get what I mean.)
Then there's Dustin, you can see how much he trusts Steve not only because of how he always goes to him for help or how he blatantly talks to him as if Steve had his age (when you feel comfortable around someone you totally forget age differences) but also when Steve dives in to the lake, Dustin doesn't panic. He gets worried, yes, but doesn't panic and says "Come on Steve", trusting that he'll resurface.
And Lucas! When Steve ran towards Max he didn't follow him, and we know Lucas cares a whole lot about Max, but still trusted Steve to check on her.
Who else has come to trust Steve? Robin, Nancy and Eddie, obviously. You can see it in how they let him dive in without arguing and even more when they're in the Upside Down. There's a moment when the second round of demobats appears that Robin and Eddie rush to get behind Steve and then there's a shot of the 3 of them slightly behind Steve. They trust Steve with their safety.
All of them trust Steve with their safety.
Let that sink in too.

He hates Steve Harrington, everything about him. His stupid, upbeat pop music. His tall fucking hair. His annoyingly bright clothes. His bullshit German luxury car.
Eddie hates that Steve's a good guy. Hates that he carried Eddie's broken and dying body out of hell. Hates that the kids love him how they do. Hates that he and Robin Buckley are the kind of best friends who might as well be siblings. Hates the way that Jonathan is back and Nancy is happy, and Steve has no resentment about any of it. Hates that he'll never, for as long as he lives, forget about six kids and a Winnebago.
And he hates, more than anything of all, the way he's always finding himself in Steve's bed. The way he falls apart when Steve is deep inside, the way he begs for more, pleads for Steve to wreck him. The way Steve treats him so good that it makes him sob.
Eddie hates himself for not being able to stop. For wanting Steve so much that sometimes he feels it as a visceral ache in the back of his molars. He hates himself for how little fight his dumb traitor heart puts into not being astronomically down bad in love with the guy immediately.
And none of this is supposed to flow from his brain to his tongue to out of his mouth, but Steve fucks him so good and slow--gives him the most mind-blowing orgasm of his life--that it all just slips out of the safe confines of his mind.
"I fucking hate you," he says. Or pants, more like, he's all flushed and sweaty and covered in come, not yet settled back to himself.
"W-what?" Steve stutters. He's standing at the edge of the bed, damp towel clenched in his fist.
True, full consciousness strikes then and he doesn't know what else to say. Steve's big eyes are wide and sad, and Eddie's brain is screaming at him to fix it, and isn't that just another thing that he hates?
"Steve. Like. Fucking look at yourself, man." He waves his hand up Harrington's perfect body. "You're the most beautiful fucking thing in the universe. And you--you embody like every fucking thing I'm supposed to hate with your money and your athletic ability, and your whole goddamn clean-cut All-American boy next door bullshit. And I--I keep ending up here when everything in me says to run away, that this--you--are too good to be fucking true."
And Steve, he's pinching the bridge of his nose, looking more than anything like he's trying not to burst into tears and this--this cannot be borne.
"I love you so fucking much." His voice cracks and he reaches out to circle his fingers around Steve's wrist, the one holding the towel. "I love you so much and I don't deserve even a second of it. Not a minute. Because you're Steve Harrington, you're--"
Steve presses his hand (he hates the the wide palms and long fingers, how they're perfect, how they hold him and comfort him and wring out pleasure again and again like it's nothing, like Steve's hands were made for making Eddie come) over Eddie's mouth. "Shut-up, Munson," he says.
"I fucking hate you too." There's ease in the way he says it, a lightness in his eyes. "I hate that you don't use conditioner. I hate that your van makes that turkey gobble sound every time you turn a corner, and you refuse to let me look at it. I hate how loud you play your music, how it makes my fucking skin shake. I hate when you forget to take the damn chains off your jeans when you put them in the wash."
Steve climbs into bed, straddling him, towel long forgotten. "You know what else I fucking hate, Eddie?" He leans down, ghosting his lips against the tip of Eddie's nose, skimming his mouth. "I hate that I've never loved anyone like I love you. I hate that I almost fucking lost you. I hate that we can't spend every minute in this goddamn bed, so I can memorize every inch of your skin, every sound you make, every single way I tear you apart, and all of the things that put you back together. I love you, Ed. Every fucking terrible part."

Everything is going slowly foggy. The fear is fading. Eddie's vaguely aware that it's probably because he's dying. What was terrifying a couple of minutes ago, is only vaguely of interest now. An ephemeral pressure on the back of his brain. Present, yet easy to ignore.
All he can taste is his own blood, but it's not so bad. At least he can tell Dustin how much he loves him. And Steve's there. Steve Harrington. Who knew he would turn out to be such a great guy? So, yeah. It all feels alright.
Eddie feels sleepy, vaguely aware that he's, actually, probably dying.
He closes his eyes.
There's a strange sense of vertigo, strange enough that Eddie notices he's standing up before he notices that someone's kissing him. It's a soft press of lips. It's wonderful.
Eddie blinks his eyes open, and from an inch away, he's looking at Steve Harrington.
He's standing in a kitchen. it's nice. Eddie's clean; he's wearing sweats and a tee. Barefoot. The kitchen smells like coffee, and sun is shining in through the window.
Somewhere in the house, a child sequels; Eddie startles. "Steve?" He asks, carefully. "I mean...not that it isn't-"
The child comes barreling into the room. It's a little girl. She's wearing the smallest Dio shirt Eddie's ever seen. She throws herself at Eddie's legs, screaming "Papa!"
Eddie has no idea what his face is doing as he looks down at this little girl, but Steve is taking his hand, tugging it, Eddie looks up, "it happened again, didn't it? You forgot again?"
"I...what?"
Steve scoops up the little girl, throwing her over his shoulder, she squeals again, laughing like this is the best thing ever, "come on pumpkin patch, Papa's not feeling so hot today and auntie Robin's going to be here in two whole minutes."
He looks back to Eddie, mouthing 'just wait, okay?'
Eddie, at a loss, just nods.
He creeps to the doorway, watching, fascinated, as Steve Harrington fixes the little girls hair into pig tails. Helps her get her socks straight. Helps her tie the laces on her sneakers. Gets her back pack on her, "eat your carrot sticks today, okay Ronnie?"
'Ronnie,' Eddie mouths to himself.
Watches as Steve puts her little hand into Robin's, standing on the front porch. Robin looks different. Older. She's smartly dressed.
Steve whispers something to her, and she looks at Eddie. Smiles a sad smile. They leave.
Steve stands there for a moment, waves them off, then closes the door. He seems to steal himself, and then he turns and comes back to Eddie, "I have to go to work, but, come on, let me show you something."
Eddie follows Steve into an office, there's shit everywhere, "I don't come in here often, your mess drives me fucking batshit," Steve digs into a desk drawer, brings out a notebook. "I have no idea what's in here, I've never read it. Something about...what happened. You did die. You were oxygen deprived long enough to cause a brain injury, so sometimes you...forget everything. After the second time it happened, you started writing letters to yourself. So, yeah...you call it your instruction manual, I get it for you when this happens."
It takes Eddie what feels like a really fucking long time to process this, and he can't help but notice that Steve's eyes are wet, Eddie feels crushingly guilty about it.
"Okay so what do I...do?"
Steve shrugs, "read it, I guess. You add to it whenever anything important happens...Eddie...just, the bats, they did a number on you...when you, when you look at the scars, the first time, just, brace yourself, okay and...don't forget that I love you, no matter what, I love you."
And Steve just...leaves the house. Leaves Eddie in this absolute disaster of an office. Leaves him holding a notebook that's ratty and untidy and feels like it's bursting at the seams.
Eddie reads.
So, I'm going to try and keep this simple, but I'm you, from the past, and our dumb ass has fucking brain damage...
You're not going to fucking believe this...we bagged Steve Harrington...
Hold on to your hat big boy, but we got fucking published! And if you're reading this, then you are in for a treat, because it means you get to read our genius for the first time all over again...
Okay, so this one was a bad one, we initially, didn't react so well, so, here's what I was worried about, and I'll talk you through it...
So, I need you to not fuck this up for us, okay? So, this is the Steve Harrington play book. The man is romantic, buy flowers, do nice shit. I cannot stress this enough - just pick up your crap man, he hates it when the place is messy. Now, we have to get it right so here's everything I know, I'll start at the top and work down. He loves having his hair played with, and tugged, but not too hard, gentle but firm, there's a sweet spot. The neck, the whole thing is an erogenous zone, I really can't downplay the importance of the neck...
We bought a fucking house! Look at it! Just look at it! And Eddie does, because there's a Polaroid stuck to the page.
So, this might sound dumb, and I probably should have written to you sooner, but...Steve jizzed in a cup for Robs, and Nancy turkey basted it, you know. Anyway, the point is...Rob's pregnant. With our baby. And then me and Nance got drunk, like, to celebrate, and she got all sad that her and Robin weren't having a baby, stay with me, I know this is mad as shit, but Nancy wanted our kid and their kid to grow up together....
Look, I don't know if it's the stress of like, imminent fatherhood, but we've been forgetting a lot lately, so, here's the plan for when Rob's in labor, and everything you've talked to Steve about when it comes to being the stay at home parent, okay...
The next page is just a Polaroid, a little scrunched up face. A little pink potato swaddled in blankets, and underneath it says 'Ronnie Jamie Harrington'...
And the next page, another Polaroid, another scrunched up face, another little pink potato swaddled in blankets, and underneath it says 'Stephanie Edwina Wheeler'...
Steve comes home. He looks exhausted. Like, drained. And, worried and scared and pale and lots of other things Eddie can't even begin to imagine. Eddie holds his arms out and Steve practically throws himself into them, "how long does it take, for me to get back to normal?"
Steve shrugs, "it's different every time, but it's a good sign you're still here, sometimes you run. Those times are the worst ones."
Six weeks later, Eddie writes to himself, "do not, under any circumstances, run away..."
Eddie thinks he's seeing things. Thinks maybe he's going senile. But he hasn't forgotten for...well, it's been years now. At least seven or eight. And yeah, Ronnie might be about to finish high school and Steve might be stressed to fuck over her college applications, but...Eddie's glad. He's glad she's spreading her wings. He's glad they managed to produce a stand up human being.
He's really glad her and Steph are trying for the same colleges, they're always going to have each other.
But yea...he's worried his mind is kind of...slipping. Hasn't told Steve. Doesn't want to worry him. They're both sprouting a few gray hairs, no need to add to those.
But sometimes. Sometimes when Eddie looks out of the window, he thinks, for a moment, that the sky is dark and...it looks like snow?
And sometimes, Eddie catches himself in the mirror, and he's sure he's dirty. A mess. Covered in blood but...no. He walks back a step, checks again. Everything is fine.
Sometimes he's sees movement out of the corner of his eye.
Sometimes, in the beat of the music or the rumble of the car engine, he swears he hears things. Sometimes a voice. Sometimes it sounds like they're yelling.
Sometimes it sounds like Steve.
And once, he blinked awake, Steve bringing him a coffee. But it wasn't Steve, for the time between startled, half asleep blinks, it was Vecna.
It gets worse.
Something isn't right. The house is empty, and it shouldn't be.
He can hear Steve, but he can't find him. And that's silly because the house isn't that big. He searches and searches, growing more frantic. He calls back to Steve, but Steve...doesn't seem to hear him.
There's something dim about the light, but the light has always been that way, hasn't it? Something...dusty, in the air. Eddie feels like he's dreaming. He has to be dreaming; there's a crack in the living room wall. A crack that spreads and lengthens until the whole house is crumbling and Eddie can see clearly now that the sky here flashes red.
That it's always been flashing red.
How did he not see before? The dust on every surface? The pages of his notebook are blank. Eddie knows. He's always known.
Steve.
Steve is here. He's hanging from Eddie's fist, bruised and bloodied and begging Eddie. Begging Eddie to stop this, to hear him, to see him. It's Steve.
It's Eddie's Steve.
Next to him, Vecna says, "finish it."
Eddie has something in his hand, the hilt of something he's sure of, long and sharp and dependable.
Eddie doesn't think, he just moves.
He drops Steve.
He doesn't need to look. Eddie turns, and he swings.

The adventures of Eddie Munson, jerk
Written for the @steddiemicrofic challenge January 2024 edition
Prompt: hole, 404 words
Rated: T
Tags: modern AU; meet cute; HOH Steve Harrington; Eddie "foot in mouth" Munson; Eddie being a horny shit
Notes: based on this idea I posted a while ago. I'd link it, but alas, the tumblr search function sucks. I'll add it when I find it I guess. (Edit: found it!)
Tumblr media
Ping.
Eddie's about to commit homicide in an airport terminal. Walk over to that asshole with the laptop and throttle him with the cord. Bury him in a shallow hole, chuck his beeping hell machine right-
Okay, breathe.
He's overreacting. The guy's an inconsiderate jerk, but he doesn’t deserve to be murdered. Eddie's just a bit on edge ‘cause he got up at ass o'clock and now his flight is delayed and his neck is hurting from the plastic chairs and his phone is dying and-
Ping.
Okay, that's it.
Eddie stomps over, propelled by rage and too many energy drinks.
“Hey, asshole!”
Laptop jerk just continues typing. So he thinks he can ignore him, huh? Eddie reaches him just as the laptop dings again, grabs him by the shoulder.
“Hey, dickhead, I'm talking to you.”
Laptop jerk flinches so hard he nearly sends his device flying, head whipping up and-
-shit, he's cute. Big, hazel eyes full of shocked confusion under a swoop of chestnut hair. Perfect, pouty lips parted in surprise. Eddie has a sudden impulse to wrap a hand around the curve of that throat, drop his voice, tell him to say sorry like a good boy.
Which would be … wildly inappropriate.
“Listen,” he says instead. “Your beeping is annoying the living hell outta me, so-”
Something is pressed into his hand. Something rectangular and plasticy, like a business card.
“What the fuck?” Eddie mutters, lifts it so that he can read what it says.
Hi, I'm Steve. I'm hard of hearing.
Wait, what?
Eddie's eyes flit back to laptop jerk's face. He's smiling, but there's a distinct undercurrent of confusion and concern. Like he doesn’t know why Eddie's so angry, which is true of course, because he can't fucking hear, has no idea what he did wrong and fuuuuck, who's the jerk now?
That shallow hole still sounds tempting, just for entirely different reasons.
“Erm, it's just …” he starts, more slowly now, those pretty eyes following the movement of his lips. “I've been wondering if maybe …”
Steve tilts his head.
"... you'd wanna have coffee? My flight's delayed and-”
If the curl of Steve's mouth is anything to go by, he knows exactly that this isn't what he wanted to say.
He nods anyway.
By the time Eddie’s flight lifts off, his phone is dead, but there's a sticky note with a number tucked into his pocket.

wanted: pool boy at the vampire mansion
for my darlingest louseph @cheatghost who a few days ago sent me the words "pool boy steve at eddie's vampire mansion" at 6 in the morning and immediately got my brain whirring. like 0 to 60, dead asleep to wide awake and writing. so here's less than 1k words of pure ridiculous fun.
[also on ao3]
It’s not a bad gig, really. Even if it stipulates in his contract that he has to be shirtless while he’s on the property. But Steve also signed the contract in his blood so he’s not sure how legal it is.
Plus the pay is insane. He quit his other jobs, and he’s basically got free reign of the pool all day. So he takes his time with the skimmer fishing out all the leaves and dead bugs, swims laps for a while. Spends the rest of the day in a lounger before adjusting the chemicals so it’s perfect by morning.
What do vampires need with a pool anyway?
The four guys stay in the house whenever Steve comes by, but they're friendly enough and wave at him through the dark tinted windows.
One guy ogles him the whole time he works. Not that he really minds. So what if Steve gets to work early, just to put on sunscreen? Who’s gonna know if he puts some extra flex in his muscles while he works? And who cares if they’ve got the cleanest pool in all of Indiana? It’s not hurting anyone.
But Steve's drawn to him the same way he was drawn to the ad in the first place, with his long dark curly hair and unending collection of black band shirts. His crooked smile and dimples and shining brown eyes.
It's just... they've never once spoken. And Steve is dying to get to know this guy who makes the goofiest faces at him. Who was pissed when Steve laughed the first time he did, hands up like devil horns, tongue lolling and eyes crossed. Until Steve made his own face back.
This guy, who plays elaborate charades with Steve through the glass, trying and failing to do the classic walking-down-stairs bit. Who went boneless when one of the guys in his band (? coven? pod? Ask Dustin what a group of vampires is called.) dragged him away while Steve mimed crying, waving an imaginary hanky at him. This guy, who clutched his heart and fell over when Steve lowered his shades and winked at him one day.
And it's because of those shades that Steve has to drive all the way back to the mansion late one night to retrieve them from his usual chair.
When he gets there, someone’s floating in the pool. Someone, with long curly hair spilling all around their head. Someone, wearing all their clothes, and Steve can't tell from the weak pool light if they're face up or face down, but they sure as hell aren't moving.
His lifeguard training takes over between one step and the next, as he bolts for the pool, launching into the water, and throwing himself forward with broad strokes.
Except when Steve gets to him, the guy isn't drowning, he’s sputtering and swearing and pushing away from him in the water. “What are you doing here?!”
“You're not drowning...” Steve says blankly, trying to catch his breath as he treads water.
“No! And thank you for the rescue, Lancelot, but you need to get out of here.” His long hair streams over his face as he spins while Steve paddles around him to make sure he’s really alright.
“Lancelot?” he asks, just to keep the guy talking, to hear more from his honeyed voice. Better than anything he could’ve ever imagined.
“A knight in shining armor,” the guy mumbles, trying to hide his face. “A hero rescuing fair damsels and slaying vile beasts.”
Steve chuckles, but doesn’t miss the venom in his last words. He catches him by the upper arm to stop his spinning. “No, I know who Lancelot is, it’s just–”
It’s just he’s even prettier close up. It’s just his skin is freezing cold in the sun-warmed pool water. It’s just he’s looking at Steve, caught somewhere between a grimace and a grin, and his teeth are so so sharp.
“I’m Steve,” he says, moving closer. Entirely entranced by the pool light, the moonlight, the starlight, glimmering in his eyes. Steve’s hand has a mind of its own, rising out of the water to cup the guy’s cheek with a wet palm, “And you’re…”
Gently traces his lower lip, runs his thumb over the sharp canine, careful not to touch the pointed tip.
“You’re beautiful,” Steve breathes.
The guy surges forward, reeling Steve in with a hand on the back of his neck, and kisses him fiercely. Steve kisses him back just as fervently, wraps his arms around his waist and kicks out with his legs to keep them afloat, as his tongue slides past the guy’s teeth to swirl and dance with his.
It's messy and uncoordinated and they sink and bob in the water as they move against each other. The guy's fingers tangle in the shaggy hair at the base of his neck, twisting and snagging. Steve groans and stretches a broad palm up between the guy's shoulder blades, pressing further into him, drinking all of him in.
“It’s Eddie,” he says, pulling back and panting when they finally part. “I’m Eddie.”
Steve grins at Eddie and kisses him again, pushing them through the water towards the edge at the shallow end of the pool. He can think of better uses for his legs right now.

I wonder if you look both ways (When you cross my mind) pt. 4
part 1 part 2 pt. 3
this one i am excited for, i hope you guys like it...
🐝・゚ ・゚·:。・゚゚・✦ʚɞ
February 1991, Chicago
Robin has a particular hatred for winter rain. It’s cold, damp and makes everything grey. She doesn't mind the rain in the summer—where it makes everything smell fresh and makes all the greens look bright.
Winter rain, though? Belongs in a circle of hell.
Admittedly, it's more than the way the downpour chills her to the bone. It's always a bad omen, a sign of what's to come. Most people find her paranoid, except Steve. He always nods his head in understanding; Robin can't tell if it's because he just understands her or because the winter rain makes his bones ache.
Robin shakes the water out of her hair as she walks up the steps to her apartment with Steve and Eddie. The bad feeling in her stomach doesn't ease up, creeping further and further up her throat until she worries she might choke on it. She takes her time going up the six flights of stairs, taking deep breaths, convincing herself that everything is fine and it's all in her head.
By the time she makes it to the door, Robin feels lighter.
Pushing through the doorway, Robin lets a small smile rest on her lips as her eyes look around to see who's home.
Her eyes land on Steve, head in his hands, shoulders shaking.
It's then she notices Steve is home, but Eddie isn't.
Steve lifts his head, tears in his eyes. "He's gone, Robs. Eddie left."
The rain could eat shit. Fuck.
🐝・゚ ・゚·:。・゚゚・✦ʚɞ
June 1996, Chicago
Robin waits until Steve leaves and a few minutes extra before making her way into the living room.
She knows the bastard is still here; Robin saw it coming from a mile away.
Trudging towards the couch in Steve's boxers and what she is sure is her ex-girlfriend's t-shirt, Robin smacks Eddie upside the head.
Hard.
"Ow! What the fuck, Buckley?" Eddie squirms, rubbing his head with a pout.
"Oh, shut it, Munson. You know that a slap is the least of your worries. You better believe something on you will be broken by the time you leave again." Robin huffs, her face going red.
Eddie sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Will you at least come talk to me before you cause me more bodily harm?" He pats the spot on the couch next to him like it isn't Robin's fucking couch.
Robin begrudgingly decides he's right and plops down next to him with a glare. "Trust me, Munson. We will be doing plenty of talking. And by we, I mean me."
"Don't you want to hear my sid—Ow! Birdie, for the love of god, stop hitting me." Eddie rubs his arm.
"No."
"No you won't hear me out, or no you won't stop hitting me?"
Robin levels him with a look so vicious that she is almost certain if he holds eye contact any longer, he will be set on fire.
Eddie's shoulder's slump, "Right."
Robin huffs through her nose, trying to fight back a smile. She will not crack around this idiot, even if torturing him brings her a special kind of joy. "Munson, unless the reason was 'if you didn't leave, Steve was going to die,' then you don't have a good reason."
A small smile makes its way onto Eddie's face, and Robin lightly slaps his knee. "Why are you smiling? You don't get to smile right now."
Eddie deosn't even flinch, "Nothing, it's just you specified Steve dying, and not the two of you or anyone else. Like Steve dying would be the issue. It's nice to see some things never change."
"You see that's where you're wrong, Munson." Robin gets really close in his face, "We've only gotten worse."
Eddie's smile is a full-blown grin now. Robin can't help but be a little charmed.
If Robin is honest with herself, and Steve encourages her to do so more often, she really misses Eddie. Despite her being angry at him, she's happy to have him here to be angry at. But once she's over that, she will be kicking him the fuck out of their apartment.
Something twisted lands in Robin's stomach as she makes her way back into her spot on the couch. Eddie doesn't get it that he left them. He left not just Steve but Robin, too. They were best friends, and suddenly, he's gone.
And on top of that, Robin had to watch Steve crumble, and it just isn't something she thinks she can ever get over.
For years, Robin watched Steve pick himself up over and over again. Resilient, brave, and sometimes a little stupid. That's her Steve. But after Eddie left, she was worried that this time he wouldn't get back up.
She can't go through that again.
Unfortunately though, Robin fears she might need Eddie's fucking help with something.
These boys will be the death of her.
"No more smiling, Munson. This is serious." Robin clears her throat.
"Right." His grin slips off his face. "You were saying you wanted to do the talking?"
Robin looks to the doorway, nervous. As if Steve is going to walk through any moment, despite not leaving all that long ago. She just knows how dates with Drew go. Sometimes Steve will come home early, frustrated and quiet, closed off in ways she hasn't seen in a long time. Other times he won't come home for days, Drew deciding he needed some alone time with Steve.
Robin isn't sure which she hates more.
She shakes her head, knowing she is being unreasonable—not on the hating Drew part (which is really what it is, down to its core) but on Steve coming back early. No matter what happens between Steve and Drew, Robin knows he is dreading coming back to this apartment with Eddie in it or, even worse, with Eddie gone.
"You're going to help me."
Eddie's eyebrows furrow, and Robin almost expects him to question it, to demand answers. Instead, he surprises her. "Okay, what do you need?"
Robin takes a deep breath, "We need to get Steve out of a bad relationship."
Worry falls over Eddie's face, "Is he okay? What happened? Is she hurting him?"
Ah. Robin forgot about that part. Eddie doesn't exactly know about Steve's sexuality. It isn't like the man isn't out—Steve has been out to their friends for years now—but it feels wrong to tell Eddie without consulting Steve yet.
She is going to have to work around it.
"Steve's...fine." Robin doesn't reall know actually. Lately, it's been like pulling teeth trying to get him to talk about Drew. She fucking hates that man. "He's unhappy, though. This person isn't good for him, and I think me saying it isn't enough."
Eddie rubs a hand down his face, "And how am I supposed to help that? Steve doesn't exactly want me around." His arms gesture towards the room in a dramatically flair.
Oh, this silly, silly man, Robin thinks. Unfortunately, he's exactly what Robin needs—more specifically, what Steve needs.
"True."
"Okay, hurtful."
Robin waves him off, "I'm not going to lie to you, Munson. We are both pissed at you. But I am worried about Steve. And I care more about him than I am angry at you. Despite all the shit you did, he cares about you. Because this is Steve. He cares a whole lot and gives a whole bunch without expecting anything. And he deserves better. And I think—no, I know, if he has two of his oldest friends showing him that, maybe he'll listen."
Robin fails to mention that regardless of how this plan goes, she will have her revenge on Eddie, to, ya know, even the score.
Eddie huffs through his nose, "Okay. Of course, I'll help. Besides, I was already planning on sticking around. I don't want to run away, not this time."
"Good." Robin lets a small smile slip onto her face, "Besides, you're a terrible athlete. Don't know why you insist on trying."
A dry laugh escapes Eddie, "Wow, thanks, Bridie. Missed you too."
Robin pushes him playfully. "If you're gonna stick around, maybe I'll hear you out, Eddie. But not now. Not yet. Don't know if this going to be long term; consider this a temporary truce."
Robin expects him to whine and contest it, but instead, Eddie looks delighted. "You called me Eddie."
Robin groans, "Don't ruin it."
Eddie grabs her hand, their rings clanking against each other, and gives it a squeeze. "Sorry, no take backs."
Robin says nothing, but squeezes back.

i don't get to write her pov very often, but it is so fun. next update we will finally get a peak into Eddie's whole deal. Tag list is closed, but you can put notifs on the first part, I always put the link on the there.

Steve felt numb. There had been such a strong mix of good news and bad news and Steve didn't know how to deal with any of it.
Max is alive. Sort of. She's brain dead, which Steve understands as her just being dead. A beating heart doesn't change the fact that she, Max, isn't there anymore.
She's just a body with a beating heart, everything that made her Max is gone. The scolding looks, mocking tone she'd take, the way she'd put on a silly voice and call Steve 'Dad' whenever he worried over her too much. The way she sometimes called him Dad like she meant it, like she genuinely saw him as a father figure.
The way she would insist on him driving her to school and playing some of Billys mixtapes. The way she had cried when she told Steve how guilty she felt for loving Steve, the way she should have loved Billy.
But Eleven keeps trying to bring her back. Every day she goes back to that hospital room, holds onto Max with a bruising grip, trying to bring her back.
And Eddie. Steve still isn't sure how he'd been able to drag him out, running on pure fear and adrenaline. Somehow they'd gotten him to a hospital in time, they'd been able to stitch him together- but it's still touch and go. He's so severelly injured and they have him on so many drugs that, even when he's awake, he's not really. There's so much internal damage too that the doctors can't be sure he'll make it.
But he's alive. He's still fighting through it. And they're clearing his name. Hopper and some agents, working relentlessly on alibis and redirecting the blame. Its hard work, but it's working. And it's good news, Eddie will finally be seen as the good guy he is. But he's still potentially dying.
And Steve is so tired. He doesn't even have the energy to be worried when he sees his parents car in the driveway.
He stops when he finally gets inside though, blinking at the three suitcases he'd be given for travelling, clearly stuffed full. "Uh. Hello? Mom?"
It's his dad that storms in, expression thunderous. He's holding the vest Eddie gave him, waving it like it's damning evidence. "Did you think we wouldn't find out? You and that freak, Munson."
Steve stares at him for a moment. He's so tired, he's ran out of... everything. He doesn't even feel angry. Doesn't even feel irritated enough to roll his eyes. Simply sighs, holds hand ok, giving a defeated, "ok."
"Ok? That all you have to say for yourself?"
"Yeah, pretty much. I'm tired."
His dad scoffs, throws the vest at him as hard as he can. "Go find some hole to crawl inside of then. Change your name."
Steve puts the vest on, ignoring the way his dad flushes red, veins bursting out with his rage. He struggles to get all three suitcases in his hands, but he manages. "Mom not here?"
"She deserves better than what you've become," he sniffs, looking down on him.
"She deserves better than a cheating husband who doesn't love her." He glances to the kitchen. Raises his voice a little, just enough for anyone downstairs to hear him say, "she doesn't know about your secretary though, huh?"
He makes his leave as quick as he can, already sat in the drivers seat by the time his dad storms outside, yelling.
He spends that night in Eddies hospital room. Eddie even makes room for him to curl up next to him- it's a little awkward with the tubes and wires, but they manage it. The nurses aren't happy when they find them, their limbs tangled up together.
Robin looks painfully amused when she finds him sat on the floor outside the hospital, barely stopping herself from laughing when he explains that he was kicked out. She's not as happy when she finds out that he's homeless now but, like Eddie had told him, he has plenty of options.
It's only an hour later that Wayne Munson and Claudia Henderson are arguing about whos spare room would be better for Steve to stay in. It doesn't help when El throws in Hoppers cabin as an option, holding Steves hand and looking up at him with wide, sad eyes.

Drama abounds when you're attacked by monstrous bats after an argument with Eddie and Steve Harrington comes to your rescue...
Warnings: Complicated feelings, unrequited love, angst, mentions of blood.

Tumblr media
❤️
This week had officially sucked.
Eddie was too busy following around his new girlfriend like a lovesick puppy to care what you were up to.
You wish it didn't bother you, but it did. All Eddie talked about was her and it drove you mad, jealously that began as small thing had grown and grown the last week or so. It was an awful feeling.
Shouldn't you be happy Eddie had found someone? Someone kind, pretty and who had so much in common with him. That's what a good friend should feel. Right now, this reaction made you feel guilty as hell.
"I don't know what your problem is. Why can't you just be happy that I'm happy! Maybe if you found someone yourself you wouldn't be like this?" Eddie had snapped at you earlier and the crushing feeling in your chest doubled.
It was dark now in Hawkins, Autumn was in full swing, the chilly wind nipping at you as you walked home.
Technically, you should be at Hellfire but after earlier you were in no mood tonight, you just wanted your bed and maybe a good binge of some of your favorite movies.
Anything that would help you forget about your feelings right now. Maybe scary movie, no romance whatsoever.
It was ironic you spoke about scary movies because the next minute you found yourself in one.
Hawkins was creepy after dark and you had heard enough tales from your relatives about the strange shit that went down here. At first you didn't believe it, Hawkins looked like any other picturesque small town... Well, until you looked closer and discovered the rot underneath the perfect facade.
Your friend Robin told you that spooky monsters roamed the woods, the rumours that freaky bat creatures hid in the shadows looking for prey. Not vampires, no actual bats that would rip you apart.
At first you thought it was some kind of old urban legend, that's until the bodies began the pile up and the legend grew and grew.
Now no one went into the woods, not even in groups. No one would risk it. Even walking past the woods to get home creeped you out, even if someone deep inside you were itching to know more about these bats.
Devil bats people called them. The side of you that was a big fan of mystery and investigating had researched as much as you could about these creatures but most of it was flimsy at best.
You're so lost in your thoughts that you miss the screeching sound the first time. The second time however chills you to the bone.
Screams fill the air, a man shouting for help and you freeze for a second before running to help. It's the stupidest thing you've done going straight into a frenzy of bats, but you can't just leave the guy to die.
When you reach the clearing into the woods you find your too late. The man is dead, blood seeping into the ground and bites on his neck.
Hawkins police station isn't far away. Maybe you could find Sheriff Hopper? You're about to run when you hear that screech again and one of the bats swoop down at you.
The tail is long and sharp and it lashes across your stomach before you can even move. Then the second bat is flying at you and you begin to run back out the forest and through the streets.
The bats are following you, four or them whipped up into a frenzy at the smell of your blood. They're smart to and dive down whipping their tails across your legs so you stumble and fall, your head smacks across the gravel on the road and dizziness makes your head spin.
You kick out at one of the bats and it hits the sucker right in the face, the other one uses its tail to wrap around your legs tightly, so hard that the sharpness of its tail cuts into you.
Two of them then work at ripping open your shirt and sinking their teeth into your side. The scream that leaves you is full of terror and pain, no fucking way are you dying now, theres still so much you want to do in life.
Wriggling around you try to throw one of the bats off you and it works but the second little bastard uses its wings and tiny, fierce claws to pierce into your skin to slow down your moments.
Just when it seems all hope is losr something slams into the bat and knocks it off you, you're so grateful for this and peer up to see Steve Harrington wielding a baseball bat covered in nails.
He slams it down on the bats head that has its tail wrapped around your leg and kills it instantly, freeing you. Dazed you stsnd up and Steve tosses you a crowbar.
"Take their heads off"
You don't have to be told twice and make quick work of the bats as more begin to fly your way. Pissed off, you swing the crowbar and tear off one of their tails.
Steve's hiss of pain captures your attention and you rush towards him and pull it away from Steve by its tail, Steve recovers and smashes the bat into its face.
His shirt is torn and you see a small trickle of blood seep through. The screeching stops as the last creature dies.
Tires squeal on the pavement and you hear your name being shouted. Eddie is running towards you, he looks as pale as a ghost when he reaches you and checks you for wounds.
"Eddie, what are you doing here?" Steve steadies you as you stumble. Eddie is still terribly pale as he answers.
"I heard you screaming, I was out looking for you because you didn't turn up at Hellfire and I felt like shit about earlier and then I heard you scream... I couldn't find you and I was terrified"
He's shaking as he takes in your appearance, his eyes wild.
"What the fuck were those things? Sweetheart?" you smile faintly, the adrenaline from fighting the bats wears off and you wince in pain and your head feels like it's spinning.
"I'm fine Ed's... I, woah" you faint and strong arms catch you before you fall.
❤️
When you come to you're at your house and resting on the sofa. Eddie is beside you looking extremely anxious.
"Thank fuck you're awake" his eyes are red and it looks like he's been crying, he won't admit it but you wonder if he was.
"You could have died... Those bats, shit if Steve hadn't found you when he did" His voice trails off and you gently squeeze his hand.
"I'm okay Ed's. Sore as shit but fine" he nods and kisses your cheek gently, then goes to help Steve with the bandages and antiseptic cream.
Gingerly you lift up your shirt and wince, it's soaked in blood which makes you feel nauseated. Eddie gently cleans the blood away as Steve cuts the bandages.
"Shit, these bastards got you good princess" he whispers worriedly. His nickname makes you ache.
"Don't call me that Ed's. Stacy, she doesn't like it" you whisper and he freezes.
"You're my best friend" he murmurs and the tension in the air deepens.
"Another thing she doesn't like Eddie. Maybe you're right and I should find someone. Would stop all this drama with Stacy" Eddie swallows and Steve steps forward.
"Munson, can you get more bandages incase these get bloodied up quickly" Eddie nods and hurries away.
The tension disappears, Steve gives you a sympathetic smile. Yeah, you were sick of the drama with all of this.
Steve gently patches you up and you feel yourself calm down for the first time tonight as you watch him work.
"Let me do yours, just take your shirt off and I'll help" he looks hesitant but nods and slips off his shirt.
You might have complicated feelings for Eddie but that didn't stop you from admiring Steve, he was handsome and now he was here in your house half naked. Georgia would have a field day if she knew about this.
When did he get so hairy? The thought pops into your head unbidden and it flusters you so much that you almost drop the antiseptic cream.
The bites draw you in again, a fresh one from tonight but also old ones. Bites that have left scars, marks from the bats tails that haven't faded.
You reach out to touch one gently, Steve watches you intently, there's a lot of tension in the air and the fact you could have died has you feeling rattled and in need of comfort.
Steve must be feeling the same thing as he dips his head down and his lips hover over yours.
He hesitates then his lips meet yours before he pulls away again. "Shit, I'm sorry. Shouldn't have done that" he mutters.
"It's okay. It was nice and kinda freeing not to think of Eddie every five minutes" he softens and you patch up the rest of him.
"Tell me about it. Felt the exact same with Nancy, it's better now but I still haven't found the right girl I want to be with, who isn't after me for just sex" you peer up at Steve, eager to say something comforting.
"You're awesome Steve, a badass monster fighter to boot. You'll find someone amazing"
Steve smiles and kisses your cheek, lingering just for a moment.
"Thank you sweetheart"
The door slams shut and you jump apart as Eddie comes in. He looks between the two of you with a blank expression on his face, eyes trailing to Steve who is shirtless and then your flustered look.
"Am I interrupting something here or..." Steve barely looks flustered as he shrugs on his shirt.
"Thanks for helping me patch up honey, call me if you need anything okay?" he smiles and squeezes your hand.
He leaves and your filled with a rush of jumbled feelings.
❤️
Could be an Eddie or Steve story :) Your choice.

Tumblr media
It was black.
Pitch black.
Nothing was to be seen from miles away.
[Y/N] ran as far as her legs could go. Even with the darkness, she forced herself to keep on moving. She wouldn't stop. She couldn't. She wanted to turn into her wolf form but she couldn't. She panicked as she kept moving.
She wondered why.
Why was she here? Why was it so dark? Where was she?
She was focusing on her running that she couldn't focus on her change form. Her breaths came out rapidly and loud as she couldn't control her breathing from all the running she had done. She didn’t know why she felt so weak. Normally, she would last hours running but now she could barely catch her breath. It felt like she was running for hours. She then turned back to see nothing but darkness getting closer to her which scared her more.
Pitch black.
She didn't know why she was running away or from who but she had that gut feeling telling her to keep moving. She had to. There must be a reason why she was here. She slowly started to slow down as she felt her legs giving out. She fell to the ground as she started to take deep breaths so she can breathe again. Calming down her heartbeat since it was beating rapidly. She sighed as she leaned against a tree big enough to hide her entire body which was a mistake as she started to hear voices around her.
Multiple voices that she's never heard before.
She gasped as she looked around, expecting for someone to come out and laugh at her, revealing all this to be a joke like some alphas from the past that would do it to her all the time; but nothing came which scared her even more.
The waiting. The anxiety was killing her slowly.
She suddenly felt a sharp pain coming from her chest, placing her hand where she felt the pain. She slowly looked down, seeing blood dripping everywhere. Her blood. Her eyes widen as she opened her mouth to yell for help.
But she couldn't.
It was like she couldn't speak.
Like her vocal cords were ripped out of her throats.
Then, she heard those voices again.
"You're nothing but a weak omega!"
"You're just weak. Trash to everyone!"
"Just die already!"
Those words that always have made her heart hurt more than everything. She never showed her weakness to anyone but she felt her heart break each time.
Those words that haunt her everyday since she could remember.
Until she heard that voice. His voice.
"[Y/N]…"
She heard it clearly yet it sounded so far away that she hardly heard it over the other voices. She closed her eyes slowly as she felt the cold ground against her back as she soon blacked out. Still hearing someone calling her name but she couldn't open her eyes. She was slowly dying.
[Y/N] gasped loudly as she sat up and looked around, seeing herself in the middle of a street. She gripped her head as it felt like a pile of bricks fell on her until she heard a loud honk coming from her right. She slowly turned to see a few cars coming her way. Her eyes widen as she quickly got up from her feet and ran away as she heard a few curse words coming from behind her. She ran towards a dark alley and fell on her knees as she couldn’t feel her legs. She felt drips of sweat crawling down of her face as fear was written all over her face. She doesn’t remember anything. Nothing at how she got here. In this city. She was about to get up until she felt a sting feeling coming from her chest.
It was time.
It was heat season.
The worst time of the year that she hated so much.
After all, she was an unmarked omega.
Every year it would get stronger and more aggressive that she could hardly bear with it but she managed with it. Sadly, she had to stay away from anyone, hide that way she wouldn't be able to attack anyone or the other way around. The heat was something so vicious and it could turn the innocent to monsters.
She crawled back until her back was leaning against the brick walls as she tried to calm her breathing. Her heart felt like it was about to burst out of her chest but she knew that it'll be over soon. She just had to stay hidden and away from everyone, especially Alphas. She didn't know how long she'll be able to manage since she was in New York. In the place filled with all sorts of people. It was the worst time for her to be on heat. She leaned her head back as she closed her eyes and tried to ease her mind and heart. She slowly calmed her body as she fell into a deep slumber.
Yet, who would ever want someone like her?
Tumblr media
Somewhere out of the city
Tossing and turning, sweat dripping all over his body. Words mumbling out of his mouth as the dream was taking over. He had been like this several night. Ever since he started having these dreams of this woman. This woman that he didn't know at all, but he kept dreaming about her.
Her running away from him.
The more he calls for her. The more far she goes.
It makes his wolf howl for her.
Bucky can't stand it. He needed to see her. To be close to her.
"STOP!" He screamed out as he sat up on his bed, breathing heavily as he looked around to see himself in his room once again.
He cursed under his breath as he rubbed his face that was filled with sweat.
It has been several days since he had been having the same dream. The same person every time. It always ended the same too.
Once he would reach her, she was gone. Vanished like she didn't exist at all.
It would make his chest hurt so much that he just wanted to rip out his heart out to stop all the pain. The disappointment.
He leaned back down as he tried to calm himself down. He turned to the side to find the other side of bed empty where usually Steve would sleep. He sighed as he figured that he must of been called for a mission. He was always out helping everyone unlike him that was still trying to deal with everything that has been happening to him. The nightmares. The triggers that would take him back to the past. His horrible past that he just wanted to erase. Now with these dreams, he felt like he was going even more insane. He had the urge to just go out and find their scent.
Their scent filled with strawberries. Sweet strawberries.
It made his mouth watery just by the thought but he shook his head. After everything he has done, he didn't deserve a mate. No one. He felt out of place, but his friends; Steve and Sam would always help him out.
Mostly Steve since he was his mate.
Sam would annoy him and he'd do the same back to him which would always be a rowdy argument.
With them by his side, the cold walls became warm and welcoming.
Even with the missions he would go to weren't helping him at all. There would be times where something would trigger him and he'd black out and remembering what he used to do back with HYDRA.
Steve noticed right away and would help him out of it, but there was times that it wasn't enough.
He knew that now he couldn't go back to sleep. Too much adrenaline and thoughts going thru his head. He got out of bed and walked to his balcony for some fresh air. He has been doing it ever since the dreams happened. Stayed up all night, trying to forget about her.
The woman that has made his wolf and himself go crazy.
"Who are you?" He whispered as he looked up at the dark sky with stars shining dimly back at him. "Where are you? Why can't I ever catch you?"
Everywhere he looked, he would see mates happily living their lives which he wanted. Just wanted to be normal with a mate, living normally like everyone else yet at the same time he didn't. He knew he didn't deserve that life. He was a killer, well used to be.
He was broken and nobody wanted a mate like him, right?
But he wasn't the only one that was suffering with these dreams. Steve as well.
Steve was up in a hotel in Washington after finishing his mission, he decided to stay the night and leave early morning for NYC to see Bucky. He was concerned for him. He worried for his friend and mate. He knew everything Bucky went through and he was there when Bucky laid it all for him. He didn't judge him at all since he couldn't understand the pain he was going thru.
Yet, he was by his side no matter what.
Nothing would change that. He was his mate after all.
They had been mates ever since they were little and the time that they were apart was torture for them. When they met once again, they were so happy to find each other again. So happy yet they still felt incomplete.
Like something was missing. More like someone.
He felt the same as Bucky, not being worthy of being someone else's mate. He felt like he didn't deserve it.
He didn't deserve a mate.
Didn't deserve that woman in his dreams as well.
The strawberry scent filled his nose and his wolf would howl in joy. He didn't understand whom this person was.
Why he had this effect just by the thought of her?
He sighed as he looked outside of his window as he wondered if that woman was real or just a figure of his imagination.
"This is just ridiculous..." He mumbled to himself as he headed towards his bed and turned off the lamp.
Pitch black all over his room as he laid back down on his bed, trying to get some sleep.
He hoped that morning would come sooner so he can go back to Bucky. He admitted that he missed his mate. His friend. He let out a sigh as he closed his eyes, hoping to forget about that woman that's been in the back of his head ever since the dreams started.

I love your stuff and I've been dying to send in this request for Eddie 🥰 could you do something where he finds his S/O sobbing in the bathroom and just take it from there? I'm sure you'll come up with something wonderful. 😊😊😊
Tumblr media
summary: in which Eddie can't find you anywhere during a house party and then finds you sobbing in the second floor bathroom - but for an unexpected and hilarious reason.
tags: Eddie x gn!reader (no pronouns/descripitions), pure fluff, pure hilarity, getting drunk, lots of petnames (sunshine, angel, love), I loved writing this one
☆ word count: 1.2K+ ☆
a/n: ahhh YES I hope I did this justice! btw since you said S/O I made it a gn!reader

Tumblr media
If being at a loud house party filled with people Eddie doesn't recognize isn't enough to get his anxiety acting up, not being able to find your sweet familiar face in the tangles of sweaty bodies on the dance floor is.
You're the one that dragged him here in the first place. Eddie probably would've showed up with a lame present for Steve, had one drink and then left within an hour, but you were insistent on sticking around until "the party dies down." Which, by your standards, is when the red-orange sun is coming over the horizon and the Harrington household's floorboards are indiscernable amongst the mess of empty beer bottles and plastic potato chip bags.
Shoving past a couple making out heatedly against the kitchen counter, Eddie's worried eyes scan the crowd once more. He spots Robin drinking alone by the balcony and Jonathan and Nancy sitting by the couch, but there's too many new faces. Most importantly, still no you. Narrowly missing a drunk girl stumbling past him and pushing through an argument between two jocks, he manages to reach Robin who grins at him, amused.
"I see you're still surviving this, and I quote, 'pretentious party.'" she teases, taking another swig from her bottle. Eddie rolls his eyes, rolling back his shoulders.
"Steve's a great dude and all but being the former king of Hawkins High has consequences. That being he invites practically half of the school, many of whom are slaves to the popularity rat race."
Robin chuckles at that.
"I won't disagree with you about that."
Eddie's trying to pay attention to the conversation he's having with Robin but it's hard when your missing presence feels so pronounced. Usually, you'd be right by his side, his fingers gently holding yours as you sway back and forth tipsy on alochol. The fact that he's standing there empty handed makes his stomach churn and head swirl with anxiety before looking back into the crowd once more, hoping to finally catch a glimpse of you.
"Hey, have you seen-"
Eddie doesn't even have to say your name before Robin's cutting him off.
"The love of your life? Your muse? Your sunshine? The person who makes you mushier than a plate of cafeteria mashed potatoes? No. Maybe try the second floor, I haven't been up there yet." she suggests, smirking when the slightest flush can be seen creeping onto Eddie's neck, semi-masked by the bright flashing party lights up ahead.
"Thanks."
Eddie dashes up the stairs in record time, the soles of his shoes squeaking against the floor as he surveys the empty hallway. Since most of the party is happening downstairs, it's remarkably quiet up here compared to the rest. There's a couple sharing a cigarette by an open window as well as a guy using the house phone to call someone, but otherwise, it's practically deserted.
Frowning, he walks forward hesitantly, pausing momentarily when he hears the muted sounds of someone crying on the other side of the bathroom door. He carefully knocks against the door a couple of times, back straightening up instantly when he hears your voice yell out from the other side that the bathroom is occupied.
His knuckles wrap around the door handle quickly before pushing, but it's locked.
"Sunshine? It's Eddie. Please let me in." he yells, softly budging against the door.
You sniffle once more.
"GO AWAY EDDIE! I don't wanna see... you."
You're slurring your words a bit, so he figures you're drunk or at the very least, very tipsy. It makes him even more desperate to be on the other side so that he can be comforting you (and more importantly) keeping an eye on you, because drunk you often likes to throw all logic and precaution out the window.
"I hate it when you're sad, love. Please let me in so I can help you." he begs, gently knocking against the door again.
The door rattles open after that and Eddie's quick to slip inside and lock the door behind the two of you. The sight he sees makes his heart break - your glassy eyes are staring hopelessly at the floor, irises red and tears falling carelessly down your cheeks. Your hair looks a bit messy, like you've been pulling at it in frustration, and you're curled up inside the bath tub in a fetal position.
"What's wrong? Are you okay? Are you hurt? Who did this to you?"
The questions fly out of his mouth immediately, worst case scenarios flooding his mind as his hands carefully cradle your face. You let out a sad chuckle in response, before pulling his arms back down to his sides.
"Nothing's wrong. No one did anything. I-I... I DID THIS TO MYSELF! I'M SO STUPID." you wail, bursting into tears once more. You're hysterical, hyped up on alcohol and heightened emotions, and Eddie's quick to envelope you into his arms.
"You are NOT stupid. Far, far from it. In fact, you're the smartest person I know. So why are you crying?"
You choke on a sob, peering up at him cautiously.
"I-I heard you telling Chrissy that you're not single anymore and that you can't go out with her on a date." you mutter, making his eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"Oh?" he's confused, not sure of how that would be a problem.
"Eddie, I've been in love with you since I was eight, and now I'M TOO LATE! Y-YOU'RE TAKEN AND NOW I'M GONNA HAVE TO WATCH YOU BE IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE ELSE-" you dramatically flail around in the bath tub and though Eddie feels a bit bad for doing so, he can't help but let out the rambunctious laugh bubbling in his throat.
In fact, Eddie's laughing so hard that it hurts to breathe, his body doubling over so that he can attempt to catch his breath whilst you pause your ranting and look up at him, hurt.
"W-why are you laughing?" you question, bewildered. But Eddie's face just softens at that, voice dropping to a low tone.
"Because, angel, I'm dating you. You're the one that took me off the market." he responds coolly, metal rings brushing against your cheek. His words and the cold texture of his rings wash over you like icy water, realization beginning to seep in.
"Oh..."
You're embarassed now, dropping your head and twiddling with your fingers. Eddie's grin is permanent and obnoxious, heart melting at how adorable drunken you can be.
"Then yay!"
You suddenly leap forward and hug Eddie by his waist, pulling him backwards into the bath tub. He manages to stop himself from falling completely on top of you by breaking his fall with his left arm, before twisting you around so that you can lie on top of him.
The melachonic expression on your face is no more, your eyes bright and your lips outstretched into a wide smile.
"You're dating me! I'm the one you're dating!" you repeat to yourself out loud, as if you can't believe it amongst your drunken haze. It elicits a chuckle from his chapped lips, your legs straddling his as Eddie sits up against the marbled tub to caress your cheeks. He smiles, pressing a chaste kiss on your forehead.
"Yes, sunshine. You're the love of my life."

Okay, so they told Dustin and it was… interesting.
If interesting is thinking your friend is dying, then telling him not to get pregnant by his boyfriend before ultimately shrugging your shoulders and bullying your way to the arcade.
So yeah.
Interesting.
And now to tell Robin.
Which is less scary in a sense but also, like, fucking terrifying in another. Because they didn't tell her first. Because Steve kinda sorted out the whole Bi-Sexual thing on his own when he fell into bed with Eddie on some random Saturday night.
So yeah. Maybe Steve's a little scared and maybe Eddie finds it hilarious, because why wouldn't he?
They're at Family Video, Eddie hanging out with Steve while he finishes up the last remaining hours of his shift. A shift Robin will soon be joining if the schedule in the break room is anything to go by.
They don't really have a solid plan, because why would they? They probably should but they've, um, been a little busy, if you get what I mean. So in the last five minutes they've decided to be themselves and let Robin catch on. That's their hardly existent, probably not the greatest plan.
And for the most part it works.
They're standing too close to be considered just friendly when Robin arrives. Shoulders brushing, Steve's lips tickling Eddie's ear as he whispers something that makes the man blush and smirk before slapping Steve's chest and playfully shoving him away.
Robin just looks, smiles and carries on to the back room to clock in and grab her vest. When she returns, she offers Steve a raised brow and a questioning glance but nothing more.
They carry on with their work routine, skirting around each other in perfect sync while Eddie forever hangs in Steve's orbit; making the man laugh or sneaking kisses on the cheek when they're hidden and no one's in the store.
Occasionally they think Robin notices the lingering touches or the not so well hidden kisses, but she never says anything, just carries on, only offering a smile or the continuation of a conversation they hadn't finished last shift.
It isn't until Steve's on break and Eddie has him pressed up against the wall in the break room that Robin finally says something.
But it's just a simple, "You two wanna quit fornicating for two seconds so I can get to the bathroom back there?"
Not a 'What the fuck?' Or 'Since when?' Or a 'Steve's gay?'
Nothing.
They boys separate, Steve's a little shocked and they stay silent as Robin passes by and ducks into the washroom.
"What the fuck?" Steve whispers, looking at Eddie as if also asking, 'did you also just witness the lack of reaction from Robin?'
To which Eddie responds with a crinkled nose and a shrug as if to say, 'What're ya gonna do?'
"But, like, that was weird, right? Like she didn't say anything really. Just pushed past and carried on."
"Maybe she already knows?"
"Maybe"
And then there's a voice coming from the bathroom to their left, "You know I can hear you guys out there right?"
"….."
"I know you're together, you idiots. I'm not stupid." There's a flush and the sound of Robin washing her hands before the door swings open and she continues, "Like what, you've been together since you got all horny when Eddie shoved a broken bottle to your neck?"
Steve sputters because, well, no…maybe. "I- I didn't-"
While Eddie teases, "Oh Stevie, you liked that did ya?"
And Robin continues, "Don't lie to me, you liked it. Just as much as Eddie liked seeing you all sweaty in his vest." (To which Eddie shrugs, because she's not wrong) "If I didn't know better I'd say you two were doing the dirty that night in the woods. But, I do know better and if I'm right, which I usually am, this whole thing started a few months ago and you're already grossly in love. God,-" she scoffs fondly, shaking her head, "-I bet you guys cry during sex. Disgusting. But adorable. Just be safe. Don't get Steve pregnant." She claps them on the shoulders with finality and sanuters past like the pair aren't standing there with mouths agape in shock.
And then the door to the break room swings shut and they're alone again.
Steve's still blushing, jaw hanging open while Eddie has obviously moved on by the way he's rucking up Steve's shirt and mouthing at his neck and he mumbles, "She's not wrong, you looked hot in my vest."

stranger things au where when it's all done, instead of the general fandom usual of NDA's and cover stories, those guys at the NINA Project figure out a way to use that same technology that brought El's memories back to instead wipe the memories of anyone involved in saving the world/ anyone who saw anything abnormal and replace them with the mundane.
It's the only foolproof way to make sure that none of That gets out, to make sure that no one decides to go poking around again 10 years down the line or write a book or a song or a movie that hits a little too closely to the truth, and the government loves themselves something that seems like a foolproof plan.
But what does this mean for our heroes? They don't remember the circumstances that brought them together, only the cover memories that were inserted in their place. They don't remember why they care so deeply for one another because a summer scooping ice cream or a walk through the woods or an-- impromptu game of baseball???-- doesn't quite line up with how it feels.
It feels bigger than that. It feels--
There are explanations for Steve's scars, he remembers a big dog and a trip to the ER, he remembers getting in a car accident and the seat belt coming loose enough to get stuck across his throat instead of his chest. He remembers-- blood on his hands, blood on his clothes, the outline of a man torn half to shreds--
He remembers a bad trip with Robin, but sometimes Robin will say something and it's-- when we got drugged- took those- when we uh, y'know tried LSD that time?-- fuzzy because of the bad trip of it all.
It's easy to accept the truth as the truth, because he remembers. It's easy, for years, to let the truth be the truth, to forget entirely that there are pieces that don't make sense, that there's no reason he should be as close with Dustin Henderson as he is because wait how did we meet? over a missing cat? It's easy, to just let it be true, because the love is there and that's what matters.
The love is there for a year and two and five and ten and Steve's life isn't always easy, in fact he's gone through his fair share of therapists for the insomnia none of them can explain, the confusion that both him and Robin talk about sometimes in the dead of night but can't remember talking about in the morning.
Eddie gets medicated for some sort of psychosis for a while because he had years of these intense night terrors that he could never explain to people, screaming at the top of his lungs, but the minute he would try to tell a shaking and terrified Steve or Robin or Nancy or whoever was present what it had been about he would just sob with frustration because he couldn't remember.
Max has a condition which made her lose her eyesight rapidly as a teenager, who has chronic pain that no doctors have ever found a real cause for despite Steve dragging her to appointment after appointment with fierce protectiveness in his eyes and voice, a desperation that there has to be a reason.
It's easy to accept it as the truth, that they all gravitated towards each other because they're all just a little fucked up in unrelated ways. That they connected to one another because oh you get scared sometimes too? scared like I do? scared like no one else understands?
Lucas starts spontaneously sobbing when some Kate Bush song plays on the radio in 1992. Can't explain it except that it hurts.
Nancy goes to a shooting range and feels her hands go steady for the first time in years in '93. She's never shot a gun before.
El Hopper had a traumatic enough childhood that doctors say she likely won't ever remember all of it, that her brain is protecting her, that-- that's probably true. They're doctors. They know better than Steve, they know about everything except why Max's legs hurt so bad she can't move sometimes.
They know everything except why Eddie can't feel pinned down without having a visceral belief he's dying.
They know everything except why Jonathan swears that their old house used to be painted a different color in the living room.
There are explanations for Steve's scars. He remembers a big dog.
Sharp teeth. Snarling.
He's in his thirties when he kisses Eddie Munson for the first time, because they're fucked in the head in the same ways, because no one else has ever gotten close enough to see the scars and hear the screaming and feel the desperation and not suggested maybe you need bigger help than I can give.
He's a grown man, and it's easy to believe the truth of his past, easy to think that growing older means it's supposed to be a little fuzzy around the edges, and that's okay because this feels bright and clear and technicolor, this thing with Eddie who has run away and come back half a dozen times but always does come back.
Whether he goes to Seattle or LA, New York or Boston; whether he and Steve are in the same place at the same time for more than a couple of weeks, he always comes back, they always find their way back to each other no matter where in the world, except--
Except there.
Everyone left that town with a haste-- or was it one at a time? No, it was the Byers first to California, except-- didn't Will graduate from that school? No. Because El went to school in Chicago at the same time that Robin started college there and she helped Will apply to the Arts Institute and--
And it was Max who went to California-- no, she was from there, but she also-- did she go back?
And why does Steve remember the house he grew up in but the minute he tries to step outside the back door onto the patio in his mind, out by the-- with the blue light and--
"Have you ever been back?" he asks Eddie one day, 32 years old and living in Chicago now full-time together. Robin's just down the road, Nancy's at the Tribune, Argyle has been franchising that coffee shop of his, is opening a spot here in town near his friends who he met when--
"Back where?" Eddie trails his hands through Steve's hair, laying half on top of each other on the couch and listening to some old tape of Jonathan's.
"Where we're from."
Eddie's fingers slow to an almost still and Steve props himself up to watch the way his brow furrows in concentration.
"Why would we go back?" he asks, and Steve has this flash-- like they've had this conversation before.
Like they've talked about where we're from before, although the name of the place never crosses their lips.
"I dunno," Steve slumps into Eddie's chest. They're getting older though so maybe just, "nostalgia?"
"Are you feeling nostalgic?" A rediscovered rhythm to gentle nails across his scalp. Soothing.
"It's where we met," Steve says. It feels true, although when he thinks about it-- "remember? How we met?"
"I..." Eddie's jaw clicks. It does that sometimes, on the same side with the scar.
There are explanations for Eddie's scars too-- a drug deal gone wrong, too many guys with too may knives-- or was it broken beer bottles? They used those as weapons, yeah. Tattered clothes and tattered skin and blood on Steve's hands--
No. He wasn't there. Blood on-- it was Dustin who found him? No. Wait, it was Wayne. Wayne found him, yeah, exactly--
"We met there," Eddie's gripping Steve's hair now, by the root. "We met back there. High school. Do you want to go back?
"Why would we go--"
Steve startles himself with the words, like they just-- like they weren't a choice to say, like they said themselves, like--
"Ed."
Breathing is tight. Steve sits up straight and looks at him. Scars on his face. Eyes so big and deep they hold endless histories--
"Eddie, do you want to go visit-- visit, uh, you know?"
"Why would we--" Eddie claps a hand over his mouth and hums out a sound of frightened discontent. "What. What the fuck."
"How did we meet, again?" Steve swallows. Eddie stands up, paces to the other side of the apartment.
"High school."
"How in high school?"
"Steve, I stopped taking those meds because they didn't help, but this isn't helping me not feel fucking certifiable either--"
"Eddie, I don't remember."
"Okay, so we're getting old!"
"We're not even middle aged!"
Eddie stops where he stands, shakes his head, and Steve watches him because it's easy to watch him, easy to look at the life they've lived and accept that they found each other, fell in love, because no one else gets what it's like to be fucked in the head. To know what's true and still feel wrong in that truth.
To believe it and still get lost in it.
Eddie clenches down on the tremble of his jaw and his eyes go big and imploring.
"What's happening, Stevie?"
There are explanations for all of it, but no one has ever been able to explain Max's pain or Nancy's sharp-shooting or Robin and Steve's inability to get drunk without losing it or the color of the paint in the Byers' old living room in that fucking town that Steve can't even think the name of--
"I'm calling Robin," he says, already striding across the floor. "I want to go back."
There are explanations.
Maybe that's not good enough anymore.

It's the first pride Steve ever goes to. It's 1986, he's in San Francisco, far away from Hawkins and its horrors, walking along the street with Robin.
She grins and Steve can see it in her eyes, a new sense of belonging, a relief, a we're not alone, shining brighter than the sun. Behind them someone yells the theme: "Forward Together, No Turning Back".
He feels like there is a wound in his soul and now it's like the words pull the splinter out. He never wants to go back to Indiana again.
He turns around the corner, following the masses and he gets so distracted by all the shirtless guys, he nearly bumps into the one in front of him.
"Sorry," Steve says, his mouth hanging open when he comes face to face with Billy Hargrove. Who died at Starcourt a year ago.
Billy who blinks at him, blue eyes full of life and now- confusion. He's still rocks his mullet, only now he's wearing a pink scrunchie. He isn't wearing a shirt. There is a big scar just below his sternum, thin lines stretching from it towards his shoulders and abs like an exploding star. There is glitter on them, sparkling in colors of the rainbow.
Robin's elbow hits his side. Steve is staring, but he can't look away.
"Eyes up here, Harrington." Billy snaps his fingers in front of Steve's face. "What are you doing here?" he says accusatory like he isn't the one thought dead.
"Because I belong here," Steve snaps. It has taken so much time and nearly dying at the claws of Demodogs and the teeth of bats to break down the barriers of what he thought he had to do and what he wanted to. No fucking way he's going to let Billy say anything against that.
Billy stares at him, scars glittering in the sun.
"Same," he mumbles. Steve's pulse stutters for a few seconds.
Billy then grins boyishly at Steve, reminding him of the Billy who rubbed against him at practice and always stole his soap in the showers, the one he rarely got to see and never did against after the sad excuse for a fight at the Byers' house.
"Steve Harrington! As I live and breathe." Billy laughs and slings his arm around Steve's shoulder. "A fucking queer like me."
"Yeah," Robin interrupts. "How are you still breathing, Hargrove?"
Billy rubs his chest, one arm still around Steve. A bit of glitter stays on his fingers.
"No fucking idea," he says. "I just know I wanna get wasted tonight."
Robin opens her mouth to possibly ask a million questions, but Steve's mouth is faster. Even though he didn't plan on saying anything.
"Can I buy you a drink then?" he blurts out.
Billy nearly trips. Steve laughs into his ear. He made Billy Hargrove stumble. By asking him out. This is the best day of his life.
"Fucking unbelievable." Robin rolls her eyes.
There is a shade of pink on Billy's nose and it's not from the sun. "I promised Heather I'd at least make it to-"
"Heather?" Robin's face lightens. "Holloway? Is she alive, too?"
"You bet your ass, Buckley," a voice behind them says. "Let's ditch these idiots after the parade."
Heather winks at Billy, a similar pink scrunchie in her hair and popping a bubble gum with the same color.
"Bitch," Billy says without malice.
"But your best one." Heather blows him a kiss and grabs Robin's arm.
Billy grins at Steve. Steve grins back. He wants to kiss him on his thin blond mustache. Maybe he will, tonight.
Forward together, no turning back.

Steve Harrington with a boyfriend headcanons
Tumblr media
Male reader.
I remember being annoyed by Steve in the first season and look where I am now.
Writing this while almost dying from the amount of cold milk I drank.
It was really hard for him to comprehend and accept his feelings towards a guy.
Your relationship started as really close, if not best friends.
I don't think he'd be able to accept his feelings towards a guy, unless they knew each other really well.
Really oblivious as well.
So even if you thought you were dropping obvious hints, they all went right over his head.
Cut him some slack, I don't think he ever even thought about a same-sex relationship.
When he started feeling funny about his friend, immediately rushed to Robin for advice.
If I'm being honest, she probably caught onto your attempts almost immediately after they started, so she was pleasantly relieved when Steve's braincells finally worked, as they do once in a while.
She pretended to hear about this for the first time, gave him some of the most obvious pieces of advice and called it a day.
Probably ended up embarrassing himself, because he thought you were supposed to come up with a different strategy to score a guy.
He tried, but ended up just turning back to his god awful pickup lines, just a little... Different.
"When I'm around you I can't think straight."
"... Are you okay?"
"I don't need a spoonful of sugar to swallow you."
"What the fuck-"
You end up just asking him out yourself, since every single one attemt of his fails miserably.
So happy it's unbelievable.
Literally jumping in his place with fists clenched.
Goes home and just runs around his bedroom until he gets tired.
Since it's still the 80s, you two can't have public dates and expression of PDA, which is why every single one of your dates is "just hanging out with a friend".
It takes time since he's fully used to call you his boyfriend, but he's really exited he can actually do that.
Will try so hard to set up a perfect date, but it'll all crumble down somehow in the end.
Truth to be told, it's his favourite kind of dates, memory wise.
There's a lot more to remember from a date that went wrong, then from a quiet, nice one.
Not to mention how much he likes it when you console and reassure him, he feels so much better in your arms.
Again, mostly because he isn't used to not needing to be seen as a "leader" of the relationship, it'll be really hard for Steve to ask for praise and reassurance when he needs it, and he needs a lot.
You might have to make the first move here, again.
A lot of work is required from you in this relationship, actually. Because Steve for the love of god, will not speak up about his problems himself.
Not at first, anyway.
But when you notice he's been off, when you ask him, and make him feel better, even if it's just something as simple as a cuddle session, he'll melt. Almost physically, he just loves you so much.
On to the more general stuff,
Sometimes, you just happened to tag along on Steve's and his kid's crew adventures.
Then, "sometimes" becomes "every time", and then, whenever you aren't there, someone always goes "Call Y/N!"
Were you asking for this? Hell no.
Are you complaining? Not really.
Every time this happens, Steve is going to apologize profusely every chance he gets, because he genuinely feels like you don't want to be there.
"Y/N, I'm so, so sorry, really, you can go the next chance you get, I promise it's okay no one's going to-"
"It's alright, babe, I'm not complaining."
"No, but you actually can go home, I promise I won't be-"
"I said it's okay, Steve, I am okay with this."
But this comes mostly from how much he cares for you, and doesn't want you hurt because of, what he feels like, is his responsibility.
Again, I somehow always end up with discussing serious matters.
I don't know where to put this hc but here, but he adores cats. Loves 'em.
If you have a cat, will not leave it alone whenever he comes over. He'll talk to it in a baby voice while cradling it like a child.
If you don't, you'll sometimes hear something along those lines:
"Y/N, can you move in with me and adopt a cat? Please?"
"Why can't you just adopt a cat on your own?"
"Because then it'll be your cat! Y'know, a special one."
If you're on a date and Steve spots a cat walking around, y'all are not leaving the location, until the cat will get fed up with his antics.
If you'll visit him while he's working shift at Scoops, will refuse to leave the counter even after you've made you order, staring at you with practical hearteyes, making it painfully obvious to everyone in the cafe.
He likes getting you little things.
Can get you a literal piece of junk he found somewhere at the mall, and will say:
"This reminded me of you."
With the most loving expression ever.
And you won't be able to reject it, goddamnit.
Overall, he's a lovesick dummy, take care of him, even if he wants to seem as the one in control, he really just needs a hug.

i think the thought of eddie dying makes me so upset for much a similar reason that steve dying makes me so upset which is like. not even just that i love them (even though i do). but the way it kind of reinforces this idea of like oh well this idiot didn't have much of a future anyway. i know that isn't like an inherent implication of a character dying but with steve and eddie's plots and backgrounds specifically as like these guys who really struggle with academics in a cast full of nerdy little geniuses and eddie as a kid from a poor background whose parents aren't in the picture and who's looked down upon by the entire town like. it's just so fucking upsetting. idk
