How can a cat's habitat be made more enriching?
How do you create an enriched environment for cats? Cats are fascinating, perceptive animals. Their way of life is a reflection of the abilities and habits of predators required to get meals in the wild. A cat's daily activities include sleeping, stalking, chasing, pouncing, killing, playing, eating, and grooming. They become bored when we don't give them chances to engage in these activities. Numerous issues, including aggressiveness, anxiety, and destructive behaviors, can be brought on by boredom. Everyone wants to see their animals lead fulfilling lives! Read More...

Why Do Cats Love Catnip So Much?
Why Do Cats Love Catnip So Much? Cats and catnip – it’s a pairing as iconic as peanut butter and jelly. But what is it about this unassuming herb that drives our feline friends wild? From rolling, rubbing, purring, and sometimes leaping, the reactions to catnip are as varied as they are entertaining. Let’s delve into the science and lore behind catnip to understand why cats are so enamored by…

Do you think that sometimes Terrans get leftover quirks and instincts from their ancient animal ancestors? Like for example, Nearl getting hit with a bad case of Horse Anxiety, Gavial having to resist the urge to do the death roll when she bites into a juicy piece of meet, or Gravel digging an intricate tunnel system in the garden for enrichment, etc
It sometimes happens. Honeyberry likes to jump onto people from high places, Ceobe behaves half like a loving rescue house dog that used to be a feral stray, half like a feral dog (including eating mushrooms to get high, which is actual canine behavior and is what gave us IS1), Nearl dances like a horse, Indra seems to have a propensity for hugs, which is line with tigers being especially physically affectionate for felines, and this might be more of a personal thing that a species thing, but Olivia Silence is in fact nocturnal, like an owl.
I’d say it informs some aspects of certain individuals’ behavior, but it’s ultimately more in line with nods to the animal for audience fun rather than an important narrative-world building characteristic.

Dormitory leaders with a s/o that has a pet Spotted Genet! They are so adorable, when you get a chance do look them up!
Gender-neutral reader.
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts
Having pets wasn't prohibited within the dorms, considering Heartslabyul owns flamingos and hedgehogs. But he didn’t expect his beloved rose to have a spotted genet of all animals to keep as a pet. But because of his ability to speak to animals, your boyfriend and your pet get along quite well.
A genet looks and kind of acts like a cat, and I see Riddle as a cat person, so it all works out. He will gladly watch your pet for you if needed, and will make sure that it is well-fed, well-watered, and well-loved. That’s right: this small feline-like animal will get a few head pats from the Housewarden of Heartslabyul.
Tumblr media
Leona Kingscholar
There were a few genet beastmen back in his homeland, but he’s surprised to see an actual genet cuddling on his significant other’s chest. He’s also jealous because he’s the only one who should be able to cuddle with you. However, he has to deal with the little brat stealing your attention.
But, it doesn’t take long for the genet to seek the warmth that is Leona’s arms. The body heat that this man emits is legendary at this point, so it only made sense. So, the grumpy lion had to suck it up and cuddle with your pet almost every time he came over to Ramshackle.
Tumblr media
Azul Ashengrotto
He can’t say that he expected you to pick up a genet as a pet, but he can’t say he’s too surprised. You treat Grim like your child, so another animal familiar couldn’t have been far behind. Slight problem is that he’s low-key terrified of your pet because it often likes to bite his fingers.
Whenever he goes over, he makes sure to bring some treats for the little animal to snack on so his scarred fingers can take a break. It takes a while for them to get along, but it’s not like he’s mean to the genet. He actually thinks it’s very cute.
Tumblr media
Kalim Al-Asim
A fellow animal enthusiast, who absolutely loves your genet. Bro spoils it more than he spoils you, if I’m being honest. The genet is constantly decked out in either jewelers or cute sweaters. And he totally gets you all matching sweaters.
He definitely loves playing with the genet whenever he comes over or when you bring it to Scarabia. It’s just so cute, how could he not spend the majority of his time with it? Sure, he’s got a mountain of homework that he’s been neglecting, but he needs to make memories with your genet.
Tumblr media
Vil Schoenheit
He is genuinely curious as to why you picked a genet out of any animal. He’s not trying to be disrespectful or anything, but why would his beloved potato choose such a not-well-known animal to take care of.
Also spoils your pet. He’s aware that it’s been there when he hasn’t been. If the genet didn’t exist, you probably would have snapped psychologically a while ago. He feels as though everyone of their life to the genet, if he’s being honest. It’s true though, and you can confirm that he is correct in his assumption.
Tumblr media
Idia Shroud
Does a lot of research about genets so that he can make a good impression on you, and also so he knows what to expect during one of his rare expeditions to Ramshackle. It’s actually a good conversation-starter as well, and he often asks questions about your genet.
You get weekly packages at your front door, courtesy of Idia. He feels as though Crowley doesn’t give you enough resources to provide for yourself, let alone a cat and a genet, so he subscribes to a gift box website for cats so that your genet has some toys for enrichment.
Tumblr media
Malleus Draconia
He goes to the library to conduct thorough research, and often takes your genet with him as long as you would allow him. The animal sits on his shoulder as he reads, and he asks it questions without expecting a verbal answer. But, because of the teaching courses at NRC, he can still understand the little animal.
If you thought that the other Housewardens spoiled your pet, you haven’t seen anything yet. Malleus Draconia will literally treat it like it was a child and give it and you gifts each morning. Matching sweaters are definitely a thing, and Lilia wholeheartedly approves.

Kinrichment — Expressing Nonhumanity and Indulging in Kintype-like Behaviours:
Why is this important?
Species euphoria is a feeling of contentment, comfort, and rightness that one experiences when they’re able to present as and be addressed as their correct species. Activities that align closely with your species are an easy way to attain this. Species dysphoria affects a lot of us, so it’s handy to have an idea of how to combat this, or just an idea of how to have fun with and connect to your identity more.
If you are in a safe environment, and have the means to, it’s nice to try out some things that make you feel more like yourself. This could be as simple as making a few vocalisations (barks, growls, roars), eating kintype-related snacks such as jerky, and chewing on a plush toy or other safe object, or as elaborate as having a full-body fursuit or quad-suit of your kintype or living as close as possible like your species 24/7. I’ve tried to write some suggestions for activities, as well as methods on how to figure out some for yourself.
Tips and Suggestions:
It it helps, think of yourself as taking care of your enrichment needs as an animal. You are both a tiger and the keeper introducing a treat pumpkin into the enclosure.
Behavioural / Environmental:
— Research common behaviours or vocalisations of your kintype. Videos or documentaries may be helpful for this. Try to reenact them.
— Research your kintype’s habitat, and think about how you can replicate it in your own environment:
Spend time in a dark room for nocturnal kintypes. If possible, adopt a nocturnal sleep schedule. You could spend time outdoors at night such as in a garden, on a porch, or just looking out of an open window, use caution if going outside alone at night.
For cooler environments: go out in the cold or snow outdoors, sit in front of a fan, drink cold/iced beverages, or lay in an ice bath. Be careful not to develop hypothermia.
For hotter environments: rest near a heater, lay on a heated pad, sunbathe/bask, drink hot beverages, wrap up in a blanket or a few layers, or visit a sauna. Be careful not to overheat.
For underwater environments: swim, run a bath, or go out in the rain. You can also play whale song or underwater ambience.
For forest-dwelling kintypes: visit a forest or woodland, or play forest ambience.
You can take up outdoorsy hobbies such as hiking, camping, kayaking, trail riding, or mountain climbing.
If you cannot leave the house, can’t do these suggestions for any reason, or your species is from an environment difficult to replicate, a good alternative is to find a soundscape close to what your kintype is familiar with and practice meditation and visualisation, especially visualising yourself as your kintype exploring this habitat. Another option would be to write descriptive pieces or to draw scenery from noemata or from photographs.
— If your kintype is domestic, read care guides, forums, or books on how to raise and care for your species. It may have some suggestions for toys, games, and activities for you.
— If you are a working animal and miss having a task, find an easy way to continue doing that job by doing things such as tracking scents around your house, locating hidden objects, herding objects or (consenting) people, pulling objects to mimic a sled or carriage, standing guard in your room or house, asking a friend to give you tasks, or helping and guiding others, literally or emotionally.
— Play with toys for domestic canines/felines, but make sure they’re safe to chew and put in your mouth. An alternative to pet chew toys would be chewlery made specifically for human-bodied people.
— If your kintype is commonly kept in zoos, you can read relevant care guides and look at the enrichment suggestions. You won’t be able to do all of them, but it may spark inspiration for other games and activities.
Here are some suggestions of where to look:
Association of Zoos and Aquariums Care Manual
AZA Ungulates Husbandry Manuals
Australasian Zookeeping Husbandry Manuals
— Research the diet of your kintype, and then find some similar foods and recipes you can create and safely consume (there is elaboration on this topic further down).
— Build a nest or den out of blankets, pillows, and items you enjoy. You could also invest in a large dog bed.
— Go to the beach or create a sandpit to dig holes in, you can use your hands like front paws instead of a shovel.
— Quadrobics is a type of exercise based around running, walking, and jumping on four limbs like a quadrupedal animal. I do not know much about this, and definitely not enough to give any detailed tips here, so you should look into it for yourself if you’re interested in starting. Remember to always use safety gear such as wrist protection. A safer/easier way to do quadrobics is by ascending stairs on four limbs.
Aesthetic:
— If you’re an adult, you can wear certain pet-play gear such as pup hoods, pony hoods, paw mittens, and harnesses. Although on the pricier side, I find the hoods from Wruff Stuff to be more comfortable, customisable, and a nicer design than the more generic ones you see around. They stock a range of species designs such as dogs, cats, foxes, pigs, and dragons. They also sell bodysuits, collars, paw-design shoes, and harnesses. Not sponsored by them, I just think they’re neat.
— Wearing fursuits, quadsuits, or fursuit parts, such as fursuit heads, tails, horns, hoof shoes, wings, or paws to match your kintype.
— Wearing a belt-loop tail made from a (ethically-sourced, research where you’re buying this from) pelt or faux fur.
— Wearing animal ears on a headband or hair clips, or silicone elf-like ears.
— Another common accessory is collars. I recommend buying from a maker that creates them for human-bodied people, rather than pets, so you can get a comfortable size and a range of customisation, but it‘s fine to buy a large enough dog collar if that’s your only option.
— You can now find many face masks with teeth, animal print, and animal snout designs.
— Hoodies with attached ears, horns, and/or tail. These can be bought as custom-made or generic designs, generally from furry fandom creators.
— Claw rings
— Coloured contacts, make sure they’re from a reputable company.
— Body paint, body markers, or makeup. You can look up tutorials to achieve certain animal looks / traits.
Creative:
— Draw or paint a self-portrait, or visualise your phantom limbs and draw how/where they appear on your body.
— Write fiction, a non-fiction informational piece, or a personal essay about your experiences, your noemata, your species, a shapeshifter of your species, or an alterhuman like yourself.
— Create your own gear such as masks, yarn tails, or jewellery.
— Make music based on or inspired by your alterhumanity, or by your noemata of music styles from your life/world.
Miscellaneous:
— Collect items that remind you of your kintype such as plushies or ornaments. If your kintype hoards items, you could start your own hoard.
— Spend time with other nonhumans, whether in person or online. Discuss your feelings, memories, and experiences. Ask those of a similar species to you what activities help them experience species euphoria. You could join or create an alterhuman Discord community or pack if you so wish.
— Read the writings of other alterhumans, especially in terms of their experiences of animality, how they express(ed) their kintype, and species euphoria.
Fictionkin:
— For (humanoid) fictionkin: indulge in your kintype’s interests and hobbies, try food you enjoyed, dress in their style or even cosplay them, make playlists of songs that remind you of yourself/your life/those close to you, maybe you can find merchandise / replica props of objects that mean something to you.
— If you want to engage in fandom, you can publish fanfiction or fanart based on your noemata or become active in forums or subreddit communities dedicated to your source, but I wouldn’t recommend being openly fictionkind while you’re there.
— If your fictotype is a nonhuman species, think about the previous points more suited for nonhuman kintypes; if there are earthly animals similar to you (reptiles, mammals, fish, birds, insects) find out what’s recommended for them as well, it may be helpful to you.
Kintype-related Food:
A lot of my information is from the Safe Recipes for Nonhuman Identities lecture from Othercon 2021, although I have added a few things. I recommend watching this panel yourself for some specific recipe ideas and more information on food safety and preparation.
— Raw meat and fish are unsafe to eat and should be cooked thoroughly. Steak tartare, carpaccio (thinly-sliced raw meat or fish), or black-and-blue steak are some safer alternatives to just raw meat, but should be sourced and prepared by a professional.
— Raw eggs are unsafe to eat unless the eggs you purchase are pasteurised, or the egg has been irradiated.
— Candy chalk, bone-shaped meringues, hone-senbei (deep fried fish bones), and roasted marrow bones are good alternatives for bones. Although not a bone itself, soups and stews made from bone or bone marrow-heavy broths may be of interest.
— Hard candy in the shape of gems or crystals, rock candy, chocolate rocks, and pomegranate seeds are good alternatives for rock or gem cravings.
— Chocolate-covered crickets or ants, roasted and seasoned mealworms, black sesame seeds, roasted pine nuts, and roasted sunflower seeds are good options for insect cravings. A lot of insects are more-or-less readily-available to buy in the form of protein-rich snacks, flour, or novelty foods, though mostly from specialty stores.
— Cranberry juice, tomato juice, chocolate pudding thinned with warm milk are good alternatives for blood. Black pudding or blood sausage, if you can get it, is made with blood. You can ingest cow or pig’s blood on its own, if it’s sourced by a professional, however it can be risky.
— Canned meat (corned beef or Spam), canned fish (canned salmon or tuna), beef or pork jerky, fruit leather, snack cookies or crackers, cubes of cheese, and steamed rice with gravy/meatballs/meat chunks are good alternatives for domestic pet food / treats.
— You can source uncommon meat cuts and organ meat from a trusted butcher. Your butcher may also be able to tell you where to get anything they don’t sell.
— For vegetarian options for carnivorous cravings, jackfruit and tofu can make good meat substitutes. There are also a variety of meat-shaped meat substitutes such as Beyond Meat and Quorn.
— There are ‘kin recipe tumblr blogs who post and tag content specifically for certain kintype species, although most are inactive you can still look through the posts. There are also general ‘kin request blogs out there that will suggest recipes and snacks relevant to your kintype.
‘Kin recipe blogs:
@kin-eats

Closing Notes:
I definitely haven’t included every possible activity or kintype in here, I’m only one tiger after all, but I tried my best! Feel free to add any suggestions that help you, ask any relevant questions, or shoot me an ask and I’ll see what I can suggest for you (but keep in mind that I’m not a request blog).

I recently became aware of the Indoor Pet Initiative that I think is very helpful for people to check out!
It has lots of resources regarding dog and cat behavior and how to give cats enriching and healthy lives indoors. Lots of other resources on training and management of behavioral problems to try and minimize behavioral euthanasia.
They also link to other websites like the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior's blog! May be worth looking through some of those articles! And Sniffspots! I have never used a Sniffspot so I cannot attest to how I think of them, but I do see value in having private spaces for dogs, particularly reactive dogs, to be able to have fun and focus on training instead of the chaos of a dog park. Their website also has articles on dog behavior and training.
Take a look if you or someone you know is needing help with their canine or feline companion, or if you're just interested in animal behavior!

Do you have any advice for bonding with a Metang? My friend gave me one a few months back, but I'm having a hard time connecting with them. I can't tell whether they enjoy my attempts at interacting with them or not, and overall they're just...kinda hard to read?? At least for me??? Any help would be appreciated!!
(@pkmnnursecass)
With Steel and Rock types, it can be hard to understand their feelings, especially 'cause they don't emote like us human beings do. But, if you know how to read 'em, you can find they are just as complex as any other 'mon!
With Metang in particular, non-verbal and body language are your friends here. Metangs are predators, and they show affection by just... accepting you in their overall space. They are not pack-oriented, so, like many "feline" 'mons, they will bond with you by just hangin' out in the same room and acknowledging your presence there. Believe me, if they wanted to, they could run away and fast if they were uncomfortable with you trying to interact with 'em.
If you want to provide enrichment for 'em or something they might enjoy, I'd suggest puzzle-based Psychic toys and Porygon/Rotom-friendly electric devices. We don't fully comprehend their brain(s), but they are incredibly smart and seem to enjoy problem-solving when hunting your neighbor's Graveler is not an option; and recent studies have proved that they can interact with computers in roughly similar ways as a Porygon too!

For these foamy green hills are but saltwater desert
Richie, Mohji's lion, isn't doing so well. The crew end up at a small island with a dwindling population to seek help and Buggy meets Midori, the mayor who is far more stubborn and trusting with his crew than he can really comprehend. Rating: PG-13, gonna have smut at some point later though. Warnings: Buggy being obnoxious, of course. I'd call this a fast paced slow burn. It takes the place over the course of the week and days are split into two chapters. There's also some drama and other pirates. A/N: Full confession. I honestly wrote this because I have been watching the anime and Richie is one of the best characters. Do I know a lot about the anime? No. Is some of this chaotic and characters OOC? Of course! It's a fanfic. Is it self indulgent? Hell yes. I had fun writing this and wanted to share it. Also, I wrote this more with anime!Buggy in mind since we don't get to see Richie in the live action. Title comes from the song "Dryad's Promise" by Tricky Pixie.

Chapter 1
Day 1 pt 1
It was Mohji who requested they dock at the first island they came to on behalf of Richie. He said the lion wasn’t doing well, seemed depressed and was refusing to eat. It had gone on for days and the first mate was worried, and well, Richie was part of the crew so Buggy relented. It was another few days before they spotted an island they could dock at and Mohji hoped he could find someone to help his lion companion. Buggy thought anyone willing to go near a lion had to be pretty stupid.
He knew what Richie was capable of. He’d seen the lion wreak havoc and destruction on unsuspecting people and animals. Those paws of his could level a city block with one swipe.
So when Mohji left the ship and came back an hour later with a woman, Buggy realized there was someone stupid out there, even if she was pretty.
She was wearing boots, a dress with a thick wool apron over it, and a bulky sweater. Her boots and hem of the skirt were caked in mud and the apron had what looked like crumbs stuck to it. Was she a vet or a baker, or something else? Buggy wasn’t sure but he followed Mohji as he led the woman to where Richie was resting.
“How long since he last ate?” The woman asked as she approached the lion. Buggy instinctively wanted to tell her to be careful, that that was a damn lion, but she held her hand out for Richie to sniff it, and when the lion nudged her hand she moved closer. “When did he start acting like this?”
“He last ate a few days ago.” Mohji told her as he chewed on his nails worryingly. “And he’s been acting weird for about a week. I don’t know what it is.”
Nodding, she knelt down in front of him and lifted up one of his paws, checking over his toes and feeling between his pads, checking for any splinters that could be bothering him. Buggy crossed his arms as he leaned over to his first mate.
“Shouldn’t we be concerned he may eat her?” He asked as Richie opened his mouth all of a sudden, but only to yawn. Mohji shook his head.
“He wouldn’t unless I told him to.” He replied as he watched nervously. He was a wreck over Richie. He hated it when the large feline wasn’t feeling well, and especially since they had been out to sea for so long, it worried him how long it took for them to get help. “I think she knows what she’s doing.”
“Wait, you think?” Buggy asked. “Is she even a vet?”
“Oh, uh…” Mohji shrugged. “I found her at a farm near the shore. She was feeding her animals and she said hi to me. I asked for help and she came with me.”
Buggy stared incredulously at his first mate. He really brought the first person he saw to the ship? He would wait to berate him after the woman left.
“How long have you been out to sea?” The woman asked as she reached up to run her fingers through Richie’s mane. The lion closed his eyes and leaned into her touch. She smiled and scratched behind one of his ears. “Because I think he’s bored. He needs some enrichment on land.”
“He’s used to being out at sea!” Buggy told her harshly. “He’s fine on the ship.”
“Bored?” Mohji repeated. “Oh, Richie! I’m sorry! It’s been a while since we raided any place, no wonder he’s miserable!”
“Raided?” She frowned. “Are you pirates?”
“Yes, as a matter of fact!” Buggy laughed. “You’re looking at the Buggy Pirates!”
“Oh.” A pause. “I’ve never heard of you. We don’t get a lot of visitors to our island.” She pulled back from Richie and looked at Mohji. “If you and your crew are able to stay for a few days, maybe a week, your lion can spend time on the island. There’s not a lot of us to worry about here, and I have some old cows and sheep he could hunt.”
“W-Wait, I’m the Captain!” Buggy snapped. “You should be asking me this!”
“Are you Richie’s owner though?” She asked with a frown. He looked dumbfounded but shook his head. “See, that’s why I’m talking to this guy. He came to me for help, not you.”
Buggy seemed, well, shocked he was being spoken to like that. Mohji looked to his Captain with a pleading expression; Richie looked at him the same way. Buggy grumbled under his breath and caved. He didn’t want his first mate or first lion to be miserable.
“Fine. Only a week!”
~
Her name was Midori. She was the mayor of the only village on the island, population 15. She wasn’t a veterinarian by any means, just a farmer who had been tending to her animals when Mohji came across her. She was kind, as were the villagers, to the crew as they came on shore. Richie was given a bed of hay in one of her smaller barns. Mohji joined him. She even offered her guest room to Buggy, saying it was proper for the mayor to host the Captain. He accepted, but he wasn’t sure what to think of her yet.
Buggy was confused. The villagers didn’t seem scared of him or his crew. Had none of them ever heard of him? Was he not famous in these parts? How could his name not strike fear in the heart of Midori when he had told her who he was?
He sat at her kitchen table as she fixed lunch for the two of them. It was a little odd. It was just him, the rest of the crew were going about the island, checking out the bar for beer and food. He watched her suspiciously, wondering what she had planned for him. Was she going to poison him to collect a bounty? Was this all an act and planned to murder him in his sleep?
She placed a bowl of soup with some bread on a plate in front of him before grabbing him a beer. He watched her open the beer and took it from her, taking a few sips. That couldn’t have been poisoned, right? He would wait for her to start eating before he made his next move.
“So, Captain Buggy, I’d love to hear about some of your adventures.” Midori said as she started eating. He watched her have a few spoonfuls before he started helping himself.
“What d’you wanna know?” He asked between mouthfuls.
“Anything at all.” She smiled. “Please?”
Buggy eyed her suspiciously before he lifted the bowl up to his lips, drinking half of the soup before setting the bowl down and downing the beer. He swore she giggled before getting up to grab him another bottle. The hospitality was borderline uncomfortable for him, but if she wanted to hear stories then he would tell her stories.
By the fourth bottle he was telling of their last raid where they leveled an entire town and took all of their treasure. Midori was listening with rapt attention, hanging onto his every word, and she even let out a gasp at a particularly exciting part. Buggy sat back in his chair as he finished off his drink. She got up to grab him another one and he watched her, suspicion in his eyes.
“What are you getting at?” He suddenly asked. She looked at him in confusion as she opened the bottle for him. He took it from her.
“I don’t understand what you’re asking.” She frowned. “I… just wanted to hear stories of your adventures, Captain Buggy.” She sat back down. “That’s all.”
“You’ve really never heard of me or my crew?” He asked. Midori shook her head. He looked a little put out by that.
“Captain, there’s only 15 of us on this island, including me.” She told him. “When I came here 17 years ago with my family, the town was bustling and full of people, but now everyone wants to leave to find treasure or have their own adventures, leaving many of us behind. We are either leaving on our own or dying, and it won’t be long until I’m the last one here.”
He took a sip of his beer, contemplating her words. “Why would you be the last one?”
“I love it here.” She smiled sadly. “It’s a beautiful island and I can’t imagine leaving it.”
“You may have to leave some day if you’re the last one left.” He said. “It would be stupid to stick around.”
“I guess I’m a bit of a romantic then.” She laughed. “I’m waiting for someone to take me away from here, you know, and we will fall in love and all that.” A wistful look crossed her face as she looked out toward the kitchen window. His ship was in view. She looked back at him with a small smile. “But like I said, not many visitors come through here so that limits my chances that a handsome stranger would come by and take me away. Who knows, maybe someone on your crew would offer me the chance!”
He nearly choked on his drink, cheeks flushing. Take her away from here? What if… no, no. He couldn’t. He didn’t know her and couldn’t ask her to join the crew, to come along with him and leave the island. He was supposed to be suspicious of her, not feel wooed by her words of longing like that. It was a romantic notion, to be swept away by a handsome stranger like that, taken far from home for new adventures, having tales of her own. Instead he shook his head and sat back in chair. It wouldn’t be him since what woman would find him handsome? Even with a dwindling population she would have better luck finding a husband on this island than with a pirate.
“Yea, well…” He grumbled as he raised his bottle to his lips once more. “I’m sure something will happen.”
Midori smiled at him as she collected the empty bottles and took them to the sink to rinse out. He kept his eyes on her, a thought coming to his mind. His hand detached from his wrist and flew over to her, tugging on the back of her dress. At least he was being polite enough not to pinch her ass (though there was a bit of temptation there). She turned around, eyes widening at the floating hand. Buggy let out a laugh as his hand flew back to him.
“H-How do you do that?!” She demanded as she stomped over to him, grabbing his hand and pulling it towards her. She gave it a few tugs, trying to see if she could remove it herself. Buggy jerked back from her.
“It’s the Devil Fruit I ate.” He told her, slightly alarmed by her more physical reaction than fear. “The Chop Chop fruit… my body can separate.”
He didn’t like the look in her eyes right then. Now he was regretting even accepting the offer for lunch at that point.
“I need your help with something, Captain.”

Part 1 , Part 3
It hadn't been Hob's intention to keep the stray cat.
He worked too long, he always told himself. Though he could grade papers at home and even work on his lectures in the comfort of his own 4 walls.
In truth Hob didn't want to get attached to an animal he would outlive. But now...
Hob had put up flyers in the neighbourhood and even called some vet offices, but no one seemed to be searching for his feline friend. And Hob couldn't bring himself to put him into an animal shelter.
Hob sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He was standing infront of 10 different cat trees, his cart already filled with pet supplies. He really was going to do this, huh?
He paid for everything and was glad that the cat tree he chose fit into his car just so.
The cat would get proper food now. He even bought soft blankets for his couch and bed for maximum cat-comfort.
The only thing left to choose was a name.
*
"I'm home!" It had quickly become a habit again to announce his arrival and Hob couldn't say it didn't bring him joy, especially not when his words were met with soft padding noises against his wooden floor.
Most of the time his new roommate didn't show up immediately. Hob had even spent days on which he barely saw the cat at all.
So he more than happily petted the small head and scratched his ear.
The deep green eyes already looked behind Hob, curiously inspecting the purchases from a safe distance.
"I got you something, little friend."
It didn't take long to assemble the cat tree, most of the pieces were already pre-built and Hob now stood proudly infront of it, black cat right next to him.
Hob sat next to him on the floor and big eyes soon found his own.
"Don't look at me like that", he stiffled a laugh. "I don't mind it, really! And it's all for your enrichment."
He accentuated his words by running the tip of his finger along the cat's nose. The cat which for a moment looked like he would love to argue back.
"What should I call you?", Hob wondered aloud.
"Maybe Tom?"
Hob couldn't help but laugh for real this time.
"You are right, you are right! It's too on the nose."
Other names were tried and the cat didn't seem impressed at all.
"How about Shadow? Would you like that?"
And to Hob's surprise the cat seemed to nod.
