It's really different from what you are programmed to say. Depending on what kind of personality you have, if feisty or sadistic (hello Cat) you'll leave some kind of mean words to them that they never know you are capable of, or if you are sweet (hello Fox) you'll leave some kind of sweet message that encourage them to work diligently~ No matter how hard they try to search it up, no one has ever encountered this before! Is this some kind of bug or unused files?

It happens again the next day

There'll also be some kind of anniversary date between you two where you'll just do something special that only they are allowed to know. Your sweet and caring personality is a stark contrast to Diluc's own rough and closed of one, so I feel like at first, it would be a bit too much for him

He definitely has to get used to it first

I feel like Diluc's love language would be quality time. He likes to spend time together, just the two of you. And he doesn't really care how the time is spend

It could be on a long walk, baking or cooking together in his kitchen, cuddling on the couch or the bed, he really doesn't care as long as he gets to be alone with you, no one and nothing to distract you around

invites you to permanently live with him in his mansion after only a few months of dating. Would be understanding if you told him that this would be too fast for you, but if you agree? He's over the moon, because that means he can spend every single second of the day with you when he's also at home

would take great pride if he is the sole provider for the both of you, since his instincts play a big part in that

he would take his time in a relationship, trying to ascertain if it works out between you two

feels very sure and secure in the relationship, but that doesn't mean that he never gets jealous

There are many things that disappointed me in genshin and a big one was the community's inability to look at characters normally. Compared to most games, everyone flat out ignored the story a lot unless they could make up ships and then that became the story to them.

Yeah it sucks. TBH tho, it's pretty normal for fandoms to be Pretty Weirdly Intense about ships/HCs, but its not helped by the fact that Genshin and HSR's characters aren't written normally.

For a long time, Genshin character writing was dropping lore/a bio and peacing out. In Mondstadt and Liyue, where most characters weren't even involved in the AQ (and others barely), it really did fall to HCs and picking out tiny context clues to figure out how characters acted and what their relationships with each other were like, so Genshin got really used to Building Their Own Story and even Build Their Own Version Of The Character around the scraps they were given.

And then I guess people got really attached to one set of headcanons over another and war broke out.

Thing is, I think Genshin is very happy with people caring so much about ships and seems to (intentionally or not) encourage them (in the laziest way possible). It's kind of a breeding ground for speculative shipping content;

Characters are sometimes first brought up in the context of their relationships with other characters (bios, voice lines) but not much info is given, so speculation is natural (and speculation about relationships most of all). Kaveh is the ultimate escalation of this.

Characters are sometimes intentionally 'paired' with another in some shape or form (some year one examples being Ningguang & Beidou, Jean & Lisa, Diluc & Kaeya, Xingqiu & Chongyun). Whether players interpreted these as platonic or romantic, these pre-set dynamics were an easy springboard to get into HEAVY speculative territory. In year 1 and 2, speculation was all a lot of players had LMAO

In the AQ and events, some characters do not have substantial interaction with anyone except one or two other playable characters, so people naturally focus on the pairs that did get interaction whatsoever. When people rarely talk, even small talk where not much happens feels Big.

HYV is definitely willing to dump pairs that aren't catching on in favour of more popular ones (Collei & Amber + Yan Fei & Eula -> Eula & Amber).

(Some characters seem to be intended to be 'paired' with the Traveler though. You know the ones.)

Some of these 'pairs' are intentional bait to fans of similar pairs from previous HYV games - Yae & Ei, Bronya & Seele, and an argument can be made for the superficial similarity Aventurine & Dr Ratio have with explosively popular Kaveh and Alhaitham. And then you get arguments about 'well if they're BASED on this character then.........' which probably seems like a more substantial starting point for those kinds of arguments than I've seen elsewhere...

And then there's shit like Black Swan and Acheron's trailer + the fact that besides you, they barely talked to anyone else (Acheron & Welt was pure exposition). Obviously one seems more interesting, even if (imo) it's still pretty superficial.

Pairing this with how much or little content/info you actually get, for people that are more inclined to care about the characters, it's pretty easy to slide into speculative territory even if what most characters get are breadcrumbs. (e.g. you know Kaeya and Diluc's falling out in exhaustive detail, but what are things like between them now? What were they like before? What's Kaeya's deal with Khaen'riah, how would his friends react??? etc etc. It took awhile for those questions to start to be answered!)

And if you're invested/want answers, what else are you meant to do during content droughts??? By the time the character drops/the story is revealed you've invented a whole new thing in your head already!

And that's content here!

This isn't to say Genshin is a unique phenomena or anything and people are crazy about ships everywhere (I've seen similar things happen in other 'bare bones' media I stumble into) but Genshin seems really well equipped to breed it. Does feel like people give HYV too much credit for stuff they didn't actually do, though. Sometimes feels like HYV just drops a prompt instead of a story.

LMAO that Star Rail got to that point already though. I didn't think it was as bad about this as Genshin.

an anthropology major sophomore at the akademiya. [name]’s childhood friend and ex standard ballroom partner. he started doing ballroom out of curiosity, eventually taking a liking to it. it’s not obvious, but he is a big fan of [name]’s mother and trained under her before he and [name] started training in mondstadt. they spent most of their childhoods together, always bickering and celebrating their wins (even losses) together. and it may also not be obvious, but he cares for her too in his own alhaitham way. at the moment, he helps in instructing and coaching junior (12-16 years old) and youth (16-19 years old) division athletes in sumeru as he is taking a break from competing to focus on his research works.

aloof yet firm, he knows how to maneuver his way in teaching. a busy man who knows how to juggle all his responsibilities. alhaitham is not just known for his amazing skills in ballroom but also in being one of the star students of the akademiya.

kaveh is also [name]’s neighbor and childhood friend from sumeru. they met when he was caught watching [name] and alhaitham practicing in [name]’s backyard. caught by who? none other than alhaitham. from there on, they became a trio where [name] and alhaitham became inspirations to kaveh to try ballroom as well. though he is not as active as the two in the dancesport scene, kaveh is often invited to perform in events especially those that are for a good cause which aligns with his principles.

he is currently a sophomore taking architecture at the akademiya. kaveh is the person [name] runs to whenever she feels down and is also the person she runs to when she wants to learn latin behind her mother’s back before. when [name] broke the news that she will be moving away, kaveh cried to her all night long until they both fell asleep in their treehouse.

kaeya

one of [name]’s seniors in mondstadt, along with his brother diluc, as well as her friend that she treasures. she learned a lot from him, especially in latin as [name]’s mother did not focus on that. she is very indebted to kaeya not just in dancing but also in showing her another perspective about the world. he treats [name] like his own sister, always looking out for her.

kaeya is one of mondstadt ballroom league’s dance instructor within the expertise of latin. he has devoted his time in coaching their athletes and is sometimes invited to become an adjudicator in national competitions. other than that, he helps around the community in mondstadt through donations and volunteer work. he may be goofy and silly most of the time but he sticks to his principles nevertheless, his actions always derived from a place of care.

diluc

one of [name]’s seniors and friends in mondstadt as well along with his brother kaeya. though publicly perceived as uptight, there is no denying that he is also a caring person. when [name] was feeling homesick with all the training in mondstadt, he tried learning how to make the cuisines of sumeru for her (some attempts terribly failing but hey, give his improvement some credits) to help alleviate it. sometimes, even if it’s not necessary, he tells [name] and alhaitham to take like a week break from training and return home until their next training schedule to which the two stubborn athletes try to decline but they fail anyway. to put it in simpler terms, diluc is like their brother figure in mondstadt. he was also one of [name]’s pillars in building her confidence in herself as a dancer.

just like his brother, diluc is also a dance instructor and coach under the mondstadt ballroom league, devoting his time as well in teaching and honing the skills of their city’s athletes. beyond him being a coach, diluc is a business owner of one of the most popular restaurant chain in the country of teyvat named the dawn food corporation.

jean

though a bit older than [name], jean has to be the biggest fan of [name] among all. she looks up to her so much and is often in disbelief that they are friends. jean was able to attend [name]’s mother’s workshops before too where she first met little [name] before she officially started training in jean’s city. she always knows what to tell [name] whenever she is filled with self-doubt and ensures to remind her that jean is always cheering for her no matter what.

jean is a person who feels very deeply and thus making her an empathetic person. but do not let her gentle nature fool you for she has made a name for herself in the dancesport scene for having a 6 year streak of being hailed as the champion in the nationals under standard ballroom. though she declined the invitation to be a coach in their city’s dancesport group, jean continues to train while learning fashion design on the sidelines.

chiori

chiori’s family and [name]’s family have been friends for decades as their mothers used to be childhood friends. they used to be playmates whenever they visit each other’s houses, often playing dress ups and whatnot. because of chiori’s skills in crafting clothes, her first ever work was worn by [name] for her first ever competition. ever since then, [name] became chiori’s model for her works and portfolio until [name] moved away. she knows about alhaitham and kaveh and have met them whenever she visits sumeru before. chiori has also tailored some of alhaitham’s suits and kaveh’s outfits for their respective performances. she has also met [name]’s other friends, and have also tailored a few pieces for them.

chiori is always present in all of [name]’s performances and competitions too. chiori is the person [name] runs to whenever she needs a slap of reality. they still meet up from time to time to share meals together and to catch up as chiori’s family moved to fontaine.

eula

eula is one of [name]’s co-athlete and co-trainee during her time in mondstadt. eula, jean, and [name] used to be the trio during that time and they really hung out a lot from girl nights to competitions. she is a graduating student from thousand winds university majoring in history, currently finishing her thesis. she is still active in competing, representing her university during intercollegiate competitions under standard ballroom.

aside from that, eula often travels from city to city for her major, sometimes even getting wind up in a few performances as she is also popular in their area of expertise. this led her to meet a lot of people during her academic expeditions, including beidou, that helped in knowing more about herself. that said, ever since she got the news that [name] had moved to snezhnaya, eula ensures to visit her from time to time to at least have a familiar face around [name] so she wouldn’t feel so lonely and scared in her new homeland.

beidou

[name] and beidou met during one of her competition held in liyue. their friendship started when beidou noticed [name] in the restroom panicking about her performance as she felt like it was lacking. despite being strangers, beidou assured her that she aced her performance and that even her girlfriend, ningguang, is amazed by her which was true. from there on, beidou became acquainted with [name]’s friends.

she usually hosts their get togethers and reunions every once in a while. though beidou does not compete like her girlfriend does, she is still well-versed in the world of ballroom, often taking the leader’s parts in both standard and latin to help ningguang practice her routines. she is known to be easy-going and lively by everyone around her and is loved by the people of liyue.

Host club plays genshin!

Aka what each of the host club members team comps fav characters and fav thing to do in genshin (plus anything else I might mention) might be ooc who knows

Haruhi: Haruhi would be dragged into playing it by Renge. Their team would be Kaveh, Xingqiu, Kaeya and jean.They don't play much but when they do they really like exploration and doing the character quests.

They picked lumine simply because they like her hair. They're also fyp! And just started playing hence why their team is mostly 4 stars. Their favorite character is Bennett

Honey: Honeys team would include Furina, Diona, Keqing and Ayaka. Honey also has Kokomi,Nilou, Yae Miko and Ganyu, which he has the skins for (same with Ayaka)

Honey likes the combat and the tgc! He likes farming for characters.

His fav character is Diona and klee!! He picked lumine because she's cute :3

Kyoya: Kyoyas team would be a super meta team, he would have a main team of Alhaitham Nahida Xingqiu and Kuki shinobu and a second team with Hu tao yelan Xingqiu Kazhuha.

He would help the other members with artifact grinding and building. Kyoya picked Aether and his favorite character is Alhaitham

Tamaki: Tamaki does not understand how to build characters and make team comps.

His team is Navia Fischl Tartaglia and Itto. Does he have a healer? No but he throws a fit whenever he dies. He's also the one member of the group who actively whales on this game.... God forbid he sees Qiqi......

Anyways he picked lumine because he thought she was pretty. he likes exploration and playing around on the lyre. His favorite character would be Fischle because she's a princess and he's a prince!!

Hikaru and Karou : The twins share an account simply because it's such a hassle to have the exact same build, characters, stats ect

Their team would conclude of Itto, Chiori, Albedo and Gorou, although if they're in co-op they play as jean cuz they like throwing people.

They mostly play just to go into other people's worlds and pull stupid pranks on them. They also really enjoy playing on the tea pot! They're famous in the genshin community for their beautiful designs.

Hikarus favorite character would be Itto and Karous is Kuki shinobu.

Mori: Mori doesn't play much, he got dragged into this by Honey. His team is Diluc,Bennett (c6) Xianyun and Xiangling.

He got Diluc in his very first 10 Pull and has been a loyal player ever since.

He only plays while Honey is on, even in game he protects Honey he runs ahead and kills everything before honey could get hurt.

His favorite character is Diluc and he picked aether.

Renge: Renge is the one who got everyone into genshin in the first place. She has every single character, she also whales but not as much as Tamaki. She's also one of THOSE Scara fans

Her team is Scara (c6r5 triple crowned), Faruzan, Bennett and Yelan.

She's the highest ar out of the group.

She plays for Scaramouche and literally any man in the game. She probably streams this as well LMAO

She picked Aether and her favorite character is Pantalone (that unreleased Fatui harbinger who looks like Kyoya)

Ayato, Tartaglia, Heizou, Kaeya, Thoma

He loves loves loves PDA. Hand-holding, hugging, kissing - he's very affectionate, and he makes it known that you're his. Can get protective, especially if he's making it obvious that you're dating and some person is still hitting on you. Don't worry, you won't see them ever again, so no need to fret! Likes putting his large hand on your thigh when you sit down at a bench or a restaraunt, and just stroking it with his thumb, but he doesn't mean anything suggestive unless you want him to. Will peck the tip of your nose from time to time, it's his way of checking in and making sure everything's okay :)

Albedo, Diluc, Kazuha, Zhongli

He's a little more shy with kisses, but still doesn't mind PDA like hand-holding or hugging. You two actually have a system in place when you're holding hands, in which you communicate by squeezing the other's hand - one squeeze means 'dont worry', two mean 'i love you', etc etc. His cheeks immediately turn pink if you bring your intertwined hands to your lips and kiss his hand 🤭. He loves hugging you though, and it's sort of a ritual between you two to hug each other as hello and goodbye. But don't worry, if you want a kiss in public, go ahead, he'll shower you with them once you get back home anyway.

Alhaitham, Dainsleif, Scara, Xiao

Straight-up dislikes PDA. I mean, he'll do small gestures like linking your pinkies together (which he actually likes because it's cute n all) and hello hugs, but he's not a fan of kissing at all. Teasing is definitely off the table. He still does get jealous - if someone's hitting on you, they're a goner. A week after they made a disgusting joke to your face, they disappear under mysterious circumstances. He also thinks that his affection should be viewed solely by you, because all of his affection is meant for you. Or he's just super super shy, and maybe not adjusted to displaying affection to you in general.

rant on the g3nshin community + ship discourse. feel free to ignore xo. idk if i actually need to “censor” words on tumblr but i’m gonna anyway sorry /gen. “y’all” is used as a general “you” and not to anyone specific. also heterophobia does NOT exist don’t try to bring that bullshit here. also ETA this rant was made before the 4.2 archon quest

the g3nshin fandom as a whole has a HUGE problem with biphobia, and hypocrisy tbh. like other than the ob3y me fandom, i’ve never seen such blatant biphobia. your faves can be in a mlm/wlw ship and be bisexual. they can be in a het-passing ship and be bisexual. or t4t, etc.

like twt is a hellhole in itself, but it is MASSIVELY toxic and weird how some of y’all act about certain ships that aren’t even implied.

y’all will go on about how “amazing” rarepairs are if they’re wlw/mlm, and you’ll ship characters who barely or don’t even interact. and that in itself is NOT problematic!! i’m a rarepairs fan too.

but i literally saw someone mention how “gross” Focalors x Neuvillette is. even tho… they’re both grown adults, and Furina isn’t depicted like a child like Nahida (who is also hundreds of years old, but is shown as a child). like if you don’t see them romantically/see them more like family, that’s fine!! that’s valid!! but nowhere is it implied, hinted or outright said that they’re like/are family (like Diluc and Kaeya, Jean and Barbara, Albedo and Klee, etc.). so like,, What. please remember to differentiate your hcs from canon 😭 like i personally see Ganyu and Xiao as a family with Zhongli, but if you wanna ship them idrc. cuz they’re all pretty much the same age (fought together during the Archon War). like that’s a non problematic ship right there.

y’all shipped so many characters before they were even released (ex wriolette, chlorivia, which are valid in their own right btw), but how dare people ship Wriothesley and Chlorinde (for example) instead /sarc. like,, the two characters who DID have more screen time with each other than with their “fandom popular s/o” (Wriothesley is probably an exception tbh).

and again, the biphobia. if you don’t like m/f or het-passing ships, fine whatever that’s you. but to automatically assume we think a character is straight, or to ignore bi headcanons is just,, really weird. you don’t have to like or agree with them either, but to say “eww why did you make them straight” is just weird too 💀

this is not me trying to dictate what you can and can’t ship (if you’re a pr0shit then stay away obviously). this is just me ranting about the hypocrisy many g3nshin fans have :/

and don’t get me wrong, there’s a LOT of homophobia towards mlm/wlw ships too. but i’ve seen a recent rise in weird ass takes on non-problematic ships just bc you don’t like them… and while i am on the “just block and move on” side, some people DO go out of their way to leave behind weird comments when they don’t need to

☼ How long do you stay mad? I don't stay mad, but I never forget a slight (and I only selectively forgive). My brain functions in a sense of anger is unproductive and I recognize it, so I eventually enter a state of indifference for my own mental sake. But when I do, it's irreversible; I don't come back from that. Indifference means that I have lost any and all emotional investment in the person in question for one reason or another, which means I've stopped caring. No one outside of two family members, have come back from that. Thing is though, it takes a long time and a lot of effort for someone to push me towards it, and I've been told I'm usually too patient, let people get away with too much, but I think it's because the ultimate outcome is as rooted in permanence as it is.

☀ What’s your rp pet peeve? For my first answer... Hmm, I'm gonna go with ignoring established canon foundations for the sake of an OC. Listen, guys, all characters started as OCs at some point— do you think the writers at HYV woke up one day, employed there as if by some invokation of magic, with an audience of fans already at their heels? No, they all started somewhere, Zhongli, Venti, Diluc, Furina, and all the others, they were all OCs, and they technically still are. We just call them canons now because HYV's original work is 'established' within and by their audience, but they all remain original. Any way, I digress: the lore around them took a lot of effort to create and then tie so many other characters into consistently without ruining anything. And I love to write in that, so when someone comes in with a wrecking ball the size of Mt. Everest, I'm really not very motivated. I won't care about your character's AU or anything, if you decide to overpower, ignore or entirely swap up the game's established setting and timeline because you deem it 'better' or whatever descriptor you want to use.

The second... How we all choose to RP, which means that we actively decide to engage in writing with other people, and yet the levels of communication are absolutely outright abysmal. I understand social anxiety, I understand being shy, but if you want to do something that requires social interaction, then you need to socially interact. And if you don't want to do that, then do it the old-school way, respond to asks/memes and talk in the tags or something, instead of trying to place the entire responsibility with others. Now to add to that however, I also want to note that words have meaning. If you communicate with people and you say A, then mean A, and don't end up swapping to Z because you weren't honest about A but didn't quite dare to tell the person that. Communication is so much easier than people make it out to be.

undertale fandom things i randomly remembered around 1 am. Or insanely specific childhood memories I hold.

- Amino back then was so fucking funny because the UT amino had featured a post where some kid I guess found a hole in the ground and went “GUYS NO LOOK IT MATCHES THIS PICTURE OF MT EBOTT” and people were losing their minds. I was losing my mind. Okay amino isn’t funny- KIDS are funny.

- PTA Sans was a popular concept and i don’t see people do it anymore. It’s funny. I miss seeing him go ham when it came to putting Linda or something in her place

- Apparently Genshin Fans are starting to find out that Sean Chiplock is the one who made the “Papyrus Makes a Mixtape” audio and it kinda amuses me. I’m the opposite. Instead of “omg this is the guy that voices Diluc” I always see Sean Chiplock’s name and go “Papyrus?”

- omg the sans and papyrus vocaloids / utauloids. The Drop Pop Candy. The Childish War. The Kangerou Days Sans cover that was made by sTEEL FROM THE UNDERTALE MUSICAL

- The Echo animation for Gaster is legendary. Also gentle reminder that the UT community led me to the Vocaloid community. Anyone else? Just me? Okay.

- there was an undertale dating simulator that was in the works and it had auditions and everything but it got cancelled (i’m not referring to bonely hearts club btw but PLEASE CHECK THAT ONE OUT)

- speaking of discontinued projects / gone tumblrs WHERE DID CRASHBOOMBANGER GO. WHERE. PLEASE. SIR. YOUR FELL VOICES WERE LEGENDARY. AND ALSO YOUR METTATON.

- Vannamelon was commissioned to play Undertale and THAT’S HOW BAD PEOPLE WANTED HER TO PLAY IT

- IMPACT. CALIBRI. TRAJAN. PAPYTON ENJOYERS RISE UP. YOU KNOW WHAT I’M REFERRING TO.

- Has anyone noticed there’s an image of Jack Black wearing a Sans shirt. If you didn’t know, now you know.

- There was a weird period of time where people drew Monika and Sans together and I guess it was due to the characters both being self aware of their respective games though it was weird looking back

- okay so idk if i’m tripping but I swore the channel pshattuckproductions had more undertale comic dubs than they do now. like they don’t do comic dubs anymore because it’s called Gaming for 2 now though the vids are still up. Though I swore there was a comic dub of Sans and Toriel at the store and Sans being a “cashmere-velvet candy cane” with what he’s treating himself with and then Papyrus is going to seemingly spoil the fun but then treats himself with a batman costume too. Where did that go. There was also a comic dub where Papyrus learns to use the gaster blasters and summons spaghetti
