For ur Buddie prompt:
Eddie having a Mentor!Buck kink. (5x05 promo)
I may have veered a bit left in this prompt. Unless by Mentor!Buck you mean Buck being an unnecessarily bossy lil shit who is married to his clipboard, in which case, I'm right on task. And by kink, you mean Eddie thinks it's the most adorable thing. Like watching a hedgehog claim territory. If that's the case then I've completed the prompt as per the brief.
If not, I'm sure Buck is somewhere with his clipboard, watching my progress and shaking his head. And Eddie is watching him, on the verge of laughter, with that love drunk smile on his face.
So Intimidating, Buck
"Two minutes!" Buck's arms were crossed over his chest as he sternly watched Ravi's progress. "It took you two minutes too long to get that hose attached, Probie."
Eddie, standing in the shadow of the ambulance, watched as Ravi straightened out the hose, nodding earnestly at Buck's critique. Buck made a mark on the sheet of paper in front of him and Eddie couldn't hold back a chuckle.
"You seriously don't mind when he gets all bossy like this, do you?" Hen remarked from behind him.
Eddie turned, smile fading as he caught her smirk and raised eyebrows. "Well, it's not aimed at me, is it?"
"It was before, though." Hen observed. "And you were wearing the same stupid grin you're wearing now." She laughed. "Admit it. You find Fire Marshal Buckley adorable."
Eddie felt his own face heat and he started to turn away before he was caught by Hen's hand on his shoulder.
"Eddie. You're allowed to find Buck adorable."
Eddie just shook his head, huffing out a laugh. "I just... If you've ever seen him teaching Chris how to do something, you'd know--Buck bought him this huge Lego kit last week, hundreds of pieces, a complete fire station. And he sat with him and they walked through each piece of the instruction manual together. Buck was so patient, so warm and encouraging. And then we have this." Eddie gestured to where Buck was now leaning against the firetruck, glowering as Ravi re-rolled the firehose, stopwatch in hand.
"It's why anyone with an ounce of sense doesn't give Buck a clipboard." Hen smiled. "Or if they do, they're smart enough to put you in harm's way and not anyone else. He goes so easy on you, especially when you turn those eyes on him."
"What--no, he's--I don't--" Hen laughed loudly as Eddie sputtered. Her laughter caught Buck's attention. Buck's eyes landed on Eddie and his face lit up.
"Eddie! Look, Ravi's cut his hose unloading and reloading in half! Seriously, you learn really quick, Probie..." Buck turned back to empty air. Ravi had taken full advantage of the distraction and was long gone. "Probie?!"
Hen snickered. "Give it up, Buck. Poor guy's been working under you all morning and needs a break."
"But we haven't gotten to regulation speed yet, we need to--"
"Buck." Eddie couldn't keep the smile from blooming on his face again, Hen be damned, as he walked right up to Buck and laid a hand on his favorite spot on Buck's shoulder, right in the dip where it met his neck. "There's still time, okay? Maybe let him rest and get some lunch?"
Buck looked at him and paused. Eddie felt under his hand as the fight went out of him and Buck sighed.
"Yeahhhh, there it is. Those eyes." Hen's comment floated their way and Eddie turned to yell back at her, but she was already on her way upstairs too.
"Eddie?" Eddie turned back. Buck looked troubled. "Do you think I'm being too hard on Ravi? I want him to take this seriously, to be ready so that he can be the best, but Chim keeps shaking his head at me every time he goes by, and Hen--"
"--Loves to tease, Buck. You're doing okay. Just... maybe consider giving Ravi a little slack now and then?" Eddie squeezed Buck's shoulder. "Bobby wasn't this hard on you when you were a probie, and you definitely weren't this hard on me."
"How could I be?" Buck snorted. "You walked in and already owned the place. I was just struggling to keep up."
Eddie chuckled, reached down to pry the clipboard from Buck's relaxed hand. "Well, maybe take it easy, Fire Marshall Buckley? You can be intimidating when you go crazy with the regulations and the heavy breathing. Let him get his legs under him, okay?"
Buck's smile turned shy. "You found me intimidating?"
Eddie lightly clocked Buck on the head with the clipboard. "Sure, buddy, you flexing like a douchebag in front of your own cell phone camera on my first day made Afghanistan look like a cakewalk."
Buck laughed. "Yeah, okay, I deserved that." He reached for the clipboard again, but Eddie held it just out of reach.
"Lunch first, Firefighter Buckley?"
Buck smiled. "Lead the way, Firefighter Diaz."

Thank you, Sunny!! I adore this line and I hope you like the fic!!
The Love We Hold - 1.7k
Feelings realization, fluff and angst, love confessions, some character introspection. - minor mention of events from season 4
(read on ao3) - link to celebration event
Looking back, Eddie should’ve known. He shouldn’t be surprised by the realization that he’s in love with Buck, yet here he is, watching Buck sit on Chimney’s couch with Christopher as he helps him hold Maddie and Chimney’s newborn, Charlotte. Here he is wondering how Christopher would be as a big brother and how Buck would be as a dad. It all rings in his mind in the tone of “Oh” as he realizes the meaning to that thought. He looks at two of his favorite people in the world and everything he hasn’t paid attention to over the years hits him. He loves Buck.
“He’s a natural,” Maddie whispers to him, shaking him from the sudden shift in his world. He’s not even sure which one she’s referring to and that screams to him too. Too much is moving through his brain right now, but it all equates to love. He glances at Maddie where she anxiously is watching next to him. This is the first time he’s seen her in weeks and she seems to be taking motherhood like most new moms. There’s bags under her eyes and her movements are slow and sleepy, even resting a hand on the back of the living room chair for support, but the grin on her face as she watches Chim return from the bathroom and walks over to the couch. He stands behind it and leans over Christopher to watch as the newborn starts falling asleep with Buck’s finger in her little grasp.
“Yeah, he is.” Eddie answers as he subconsciously stares for a minute. He shakes himself from it though and turns his attention to Maddie. “How’s it been going? I remember the first week home with Christopher. I swear Shannon and I didn’t sleep at all.”
“If I felt okay leaving her with anyone right now, I’d have you and Buck babysit while I took a nap,” she answers with a soft smile.
“You totally could,” Eddie teases knowing the new mother wouldn’t dare leave her newborn with anyone besides Chimney and that would be a stretch.
“Don’t tempt me,” she grins before leaving him to his thoughts as she joins the group. Eddie debates joining them. Buck is looking up at Maddie now with a fond look that someone would relate to a golden retriever, as she pulls one of the chairs to be as close to Christopher as possible. Buck laughs softly as Christopher and Maddie start talking about the baby. Chimney and Buck add in every once in a while. It makes Eddie feel like an outsider looking in and that’s what makes him finally decide to walk over and take the seat next to Buck, who turns to him and grins as he whispers about how Christopher seems to like the baby.
Eddie just nods and gives a soft smile as he watches Christopher cradle the baby. His heart melts at Christopher, so focused on her. He’s keeping his arm against the arm of the couch so he can keep supporting the head. He does really seem to like it all and Eddie’s not really sure what to do with that information as well. He feels Buck’s elbow push into his ribs making him shake his head and refocus. He looks up at Buck, whose eyebrows are pulled together in a show of concern. Eddie sighs and goes to find something to express why he’s acting this way, but he’s saved by Chimney calling his name.
“Eddie! You wanna take your turn?” He asks as Maddie eases Charlotte out of Christopher’s arms.
“I’d love to,” he grins as he gets handed the newborn. She’s unbelievably light in his arms as he adjusts her to sit more comfortably in his arms. He can’t help but notice that her little nose looks just like Maddie’s and the so-brown-they’re-black eyes staring up at him are almost identical to Chimney’s.
“She’s beautiful. Happy and healthy. You both are doing great,” he whispers, looking up at where Chimney has moved to stand behind Maddie’s chair. His hand on her shoulder as they both gaze lovingly at their daughter. Maddie nods and says a thank you as tears fill her eyes.
It’s not long before Eddie decides to leave and give the couple some more time alone with their newest source of happiness.
---
Eddie hasn’t left his spot on the couch since Christopher went to bed. He’s been staring aimlessly at the tv with no recollection of what’s been on it as his mind is just full of Buck. Buck, who has become a staple in his and Christopher’s lives. Buck, who has always been there for Christopher. Buck, who is there for Eddie. Buck, who he loves.
All the game nights, trips together, the three of them just having fun echoes through Eddie’s mind. If there’s anyone out there that should join him and Christopher, it’s Buck and in reality, he’s already joined them. He’s already linked to all that they are. He’s right there with them and the thought scares Eddie in all honesty. Buck got this close to them without Eddie even being aware.
His thoughts get interrupted again with the flash of headlights through the window in his living room. He glances up to see Buck’s Jeep pulling into the spot behind his truck. Eddie watches as he turns off the car and before deciding to stand up. He sighs as he rubs his hands against his jeans before standing up to see why Buck’s here at 10 o’clock at night. He’s leaning against the wall on the outskirts of his entryway when the sound of keys jingling plays on the other side of the door. He debates just going and opening it but he needs the couple seconds it takes Buck to twist the key and push open the door to compose himself.
When Buck does step through the door, he jumps at the sight of Eddie. “Eddie! What the fuck are you doing? You scared the shit out of me.” He scolds as he tries to catch his breath while closing the door.
“Says the one who just let himself into my house this late at night,” Eddie shrugs, making Buck roll his eyes and mumble a “Touché.”
“I just wanted to check on you. You seemed… distant at Maddie and Chimney’s,” Buck adds with his own shrug after stuffing his hands in his pockets. Eddie lets his eyes flicker across Buck’s face in the dark room. He has this fleeting concern that screams of course he noticed. How couldn’t he notice how Eddie was acting. Maybe this was easier when Eddie just didn’t know.
“I’ve just been doing a lot of thinking. Nothing to be worried about,” Eddie tries reassuring him while escaping the topic. Buck seems to pick up on his attempt at running away from this and just sighs before teasing Eddie in a way that loosens the tension between them. “That’s an awfully dangerous thing for you to be doing, Eds.”
Eddie lets out a breathy laugh before grinning at his best friend. His best friend. If that isn’t a reason enough to keep this to himself, Eddie’s never had a friend like Buck and he isn’t ready to jeopardize that over feelings he didn’t know he had until 5 hours ago.
“Eddie, you’re doing it. Again,” Buck says, stepping closer to him. He’s right in front of Eddie before Eddie has anytime to process what’s going on.
“I thought we were working on communication,” Buck quips with a bit of a teasing tone. “We’ve been doing great at talking out our issues. What’s so bad that you’re hiding this?”
Eddie feels the deep swallow that goes through his throat as he has to look up at Buck due to the close proximity. “What’s going on, Eddie?” He basically begs, making Eddie’s heart tug and before he even knows what’s happened the words escape his mouth.
“I love you.”
Both of them still as they process what Eddie just said. Eddie tries studying Buck’s face for some kind of reaction and when nothing but surprise is shown back to him, he just closes his eyes and wills it all to go away. He admits it's cliché but his heart is pounding and he just wants to open his eyes and this all has been a dream.
“I’m sorry,” He chokes out in a raspy whisper as he tries to side step away from Buck. His efforts are stopped by Buck’s hand grabbing his wrist and his voice following Eddie’s in the silence. “Why are you sorry?”
Eddie opens his eyes and blinks, stunned at the man in front of him. Buck’s face is only inches from his with a furrowed brow. Eddie looks down at where Buck’s hand is still on his wrist as he responds. “I’m sorry that I said that.”
“Did you mean it?” Buck asks quietly as his grip tightens before letting go completely. His demeanor has shrunk and he’s inching a step back and Eddie’s realized a whole other side of this coming out. Maybe Buck loves him too.
“Of course, I do,” He adds as softly as his nerves let him. It's too late to go back so he’s just gonna try to see where this goes as he reaches out for Buck’s hand. Buck meets his eyes again with a hopeful look tied into his features. A soft grin spread across his face.
“You do? You love me?” Buck echoes in insecurity that Eddie hates to see. It’s been something he knows Buck’s been working on, especially since his parent’s visit, but it's still something he sees haunt Buck.
“Buck, you made falling in love with you easy that I never realized I was falling,” Eddie promises, as he hopes Buck recognizes the value and truth to the words. He watches as Buck’s grin grows and Eddie can‘t help but pull Buck forward and into his arms. He feels Buck’s arms wrap tightly around him as something wet starts pooling on his shoulder. Eddie squeezes him before pulling back enough to see his face.
“They’re happy tears,” Buck laughs as Eddie reaches up and wipes under his eyes. “I promise.”
Eddie nods and whispers a “I know,” before leaning up the little bit of distance to press his lips to Buck’s. The kiss is far from perfect with Buck’s tears leaving a salty taste to the mess and they’re more focused on the connection and feeling of just being together like this than anything else. When they do part, Buck lets his forehead rest against Eddie’s. Eddie just reaches out to hold him as Buck whispers “I love you, too,” between them.

Eyes strained from the hours of paperwork, you sink back into your seat before exhaling deeply, and rubbing your tired eyes, your shoulders deflate wearily. Lately, work has been even more exhausting than usual: the aquarium transferring two nurse sharks to the exhibit. However, as the head veterinarian, it meant that everything falls onto you to make sure it runs smoothly: that the sharks are healthy and well looked after, that they’ll acclimatise to their new tank properly, that they won’t undergo any major stress of any kind; just general things like that. Though, the last one was easier said than done. Moving and handling of any animals would cause them stress.
Taking another deep breath, you roll your shoulders - working out the kinks in them. Once done, you look back at the huge stack of paperwork. Thick manila files are piled one on top of each other - and all of them need to be read and signed. Different though they are, whether they be health records, or the transfer document or even just general admin work make up the stack - they all have one thing in common. Every single one of them mocks you ceaselessly; the foreboding tower reminding you of the amount of work you still have to complete.
Defeated sigh escaping your lips, you decide to get back to work. After all, lamenting your workload isn’t going to deplete it. Though, before you can start looking at the next file, your phone rings from beside you. With a side glance, you sneak a peek at the contact ID, only to perk up when your boyfriend’s name flashes across the screen. Work long forgotten, you automatically move to pick it up; your finger sliding across the screen as you answer the call.
“Joonie! Hey,” you answer enthusiastically. Already, you can feel the tension in your muscles fade - the sounds of Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook yelling while Namjoon hushes them instantly soothing you.
“Hey babe, do you know what time you’ll be done today?” Namjoon’s deep voice echoes across the receiver.
Eyebrows furrowing, you glance at the clock that hangs above the door to your office. Seeing the time, your eyes widen. It’s already half six; you were supposed to be done half an hour go. “Oh shit-” you breathe out, “I didn’t even realise the time. I’ve still got a bunch of work to do though,” you continue, almost despondently. It’s a Friday evening, which means that you have the weekend to look forward to - but, you can’t leave until you’ve completed at least the more important paperwork.
“Ah- okay. Will you be coming over or going home?” Namjoon asks.
You hear Jungkook yelling in the background, cries of ‘No! Come over,’ echoing across your speaker. Biting your lip, you stare at the pile of paperwork. Once again, it mocks you - letting you know you can’t clock out until it’s done - no matter how much you want to go home to Namjoon and the boys.
“I- I’m not sure. I may finish really late and I don’t want to disturb you or anything,” you reply, barely trying to hide the upset in your voice.
Hearing your tired, strained tone, “Come over Angel, we’ll have a quiet night in. It’s also Yoongi-hyung’s birthday tomorrow, so we’re probably going to do something,” Namjoon says. Face crumpling, you nod - a quiet night in with your boyfriend sounds just like the stress relief that you need.
“Babe?” Namjoon calls out.
Realising that he can’t see you, “Oh! Sorry- yes, that sounds great. I’ll come over when I’m done. Do we need anything for Yoongi’s birthday?” you ask, a slight frown on your face. The stress of work had clearly gotten to you - you had no idea that it was already Yoongi’s birthday. It seems like you were just celebrating Hoseok’s birthday yesterday. Not that you’d done much - he’d just wanted a quiet dinner; which of course, was easier said than done, when half the guests were toddlers.
“Hmmm no- although, Taehyung mentioned wanting to bake Yoongi-hyung a cake. But that sounds messy, and I don’t really know how to bake so,” Namjoon replies offhandedly.
Perking up immediately, “we can do that! Please, Joon? Can we bake? Pretty please?” you practically beg. Across the phone, Namjoon pauses, before you hear a soft laugh.
“Someone’s excited. But alright, we can do that. Well, you can. We both know I’m useless in the kitchen,” Namjoon answers. Suppressing a yelp of victory, you pump your fist in the air before stilling. Cheeks searing with the heat of embarrassment, you silently thank whatever guardian angel is watching you. At least your boyfriend hadn’t seen that. “Alright, I have to go. Taehyung wants a snack and he looks like he’s about to cry,” Namjoon continues.
Laughing, “well you better go then. If Tae cries, that’ll only set Chim off too,” you respond knowingly.
“Yeah, exactly. I’ll see you at home then,” Namjoon says. Then, with a sweet goodbye, he hangs up the phone.
Placing your phone back onto your desk, you turn back to the huge stack of paperwork. Invigorated by your conversation with Namjoon, and the thought of going home to your boyfriend and his sons - not to mention the prospect of baking - you suddenly feel a renewed fire in your stomach. Hastily, you grab the next file before you begin reading it. All of a sudden, you have a reason to finish up your work.
Tumblr media
As you’d planned, after you’d completed all the important paperwork, you’d gone home to grab your baking equipment before driving straight to your boyfriend’s home. Seeing the stress on your face late last night, Namjoon had gathered you into his arms before taking you to bed - the boys already being fast asleep by the time you had arrived. You remember Namjoon helping you change, and how attentive he’d been the entire night; however, you don’t remember falling asleep. As a matter of fact, the only thing that you do remember, is that you haven’t had such good sleep in over a week. Somehow, falling asleep in Namjoon’s arms, had melted all the stress of your hectic week and you’d woken up feeling completely refreshed.
Thus, you find yourself in Namjoon’s kitchen the next day. Namjoon sits at the kitchen counter, his laptop and various pieces of paper scattered on the surface as he tries to get some work done. Tried, being the keyword. Really, he’d given up a while back and instead, his eyes are glued to your figure as you flit about his kitchen. You’re still dressed in your pyjamas and, well, so is he. In fact, no one had really felt like getting changed, and so even his sons are still running about in last night’s clothing.
Still, his eyes rake over your figure. With your hair piled into a messy bun on the top of your head: stray flyaways flying about everywhere as you concentrate on baking Yoongi’s cake, and dressed in a pair of loose flannel bottoms and his hoodie: the large grey article of clothing hanging from your frame; you’re the epitome of comfort. Flour stains the material, and he can see little gooey strings of eggs in some spots. You’re nothing but an unkempt mess - but still, you look incredibly endearing.
Soft melodious music echoes through his speakers, your body softly swaying to the beat as you hum along to the tune and involuntarily, Namjoon finds his eyes softening at the utter ease in your figure. The sweet scent of vanilla wafts through the air, causing Namjoon’s mouth to water at the sugary, enticing smell. You’re in the middle of icing the cake - Namjoon’s eyes following your graceful movements as you cover the sponge with the creamy frosting.
Helpless under your enchantment, Namjoon decides to abandon his work: it’s not like he was getting anything done in the first place. Standing up from his seat, he crosses his kitchen and within a few moments, you feel your boyfriend behind you. Namjoon’s strong arms curl around you, his hands loosely resting on your hips. At the feel of his comforting presence, you instinctively relax further, your back moulding against his chest.
His head immediately drops down to your neck, his nose nuzzling the flesh as he presses his feathery kisses to the column of your throat. Feeling his plush lips brush over your supple flesh, “Joonie, stop that,” you giggle.
“No,” Namjoon pouts, pressing another kiss to your skin - this time just under the corner of your jaw.
Playfully batting his face - Namjoon narrowly dodging - “I’m trying to concentrate!” you reprimand, thought from the light laughter in your voice, Namjoon knows you’re not really mad. So, instead, he lets out his own teasing growl before squeezing your hips.
“So was I, but you distracted me. So, now I’m going to distract you,” he replies. You roll your eyes at his logic, but don’t say anything else. Rather, you return back to frosting your cake.
Namjoon steps a little closer to you, his arms snaking around your hips so he can hold you in his arms. You feel his large palms intertwine before resting against your lower abdomen. Softly, his body sways with yours, the two of you moving to the beat of the music. Namjoon knows he’s not the best dancer, yet, with you in his arms, he can’t help, but follow the gentle swaying of your body - the movement coming easily to him. Meanwhile, from beside the two of you, Taehyung’s little form peers over the edge of the counter, his little hands braced on the marble countertop as he pokes his head over the ledge. “What are you doing now?” he asks, his eyes following your movements curiously.
“I’m crumb coating the cake - so that none of the cake crumbs gets on the outside later on,” you reply without skipping a beat.
“Do you like baking, Noona?” Taehyung’s soft voice continues as he turns to you in intrigue. Breaking from your concentration while you run the stainless steel palette knife over the edge edges, you glance at Taehyung.
“Mhm, it’s one of my favourite things,” you reply. Taehyung nods his head, but turns back to the half iced cake. One eyebrow raising, you attempt to suppress a little giggle. “Do you want to help me, Tigger?” you ask. All of a sudden, Taehyung perks up before nodding enthusiastically.
From behind you, Namjoon uncurls his arms from your frame, only to pull one of the barstools closer before picking his son up and depositing him onto the cushion. Once he’s sure his son is safely on the stool, he turns back to you - only to be stopped when Jimin tugs at his trouser leg. Motioning to his father with grabby hands, Jimin looks at his father with wide eyes and a soft pout. Immediately, Namjoon bends over, and stepping to your side, easily lifts Jimin up into his arms.
Turning his eyes, Namjoon lets out a soft chuckle at the sight of his final child. Unbothered, Jungkook sits with his back to one of the cabinets - his eyes glued to the screen of his game and a bowl of snacks situated next to him. Unlike Jimin and Taehyung, it seems Jungkook couldn’t care less about the cake. Though, he supposes, it makes sense: since it was originally Taehyung’s idea - and Jimin always wanted to do whatever Taehyung did - and vice versa.
Namjoon turns back to you - just in time to see Taehyung reach over to grab the bowl of icing. However, in his son’s enthusiastic haste - he almost knocks into the cake. Acting on reflex, honed from years of chasing his troublemaking twins, Namjoon’s hand shoots out and steadies the cake - his fingers gripping the cake board to prevent it from toppling over.
Turning to his middle child, Namjoon looks at him with soft reprimanding eyes, “be careful, Taehyung, we don’t want to ruin ____’s hard work now, do we?” he says.
“Sorry, daddy,” Taehyung says sheepishly.
Seeing the slight pout, and the way his eyes darken, “It’s alright! We got it in time, didn’t we?” you say, winking at Taehyung while petting his hair. At your words, and realising you’re not mad at him, the sadness in Taehyung’s eyes fades away. Once he’s perked up, you angle the handle of the palette knife to Taehyung.
Eagerly, but with more restraint this time, Taehyung grabs the utensil from you. You help him dip it into the bowl of icing - then, wrapping your large hand around his, you both begin layering the frosting over the rest of the cake. With the two of you frosting the sponge, Namjoon and Jimin stand next to you both - Jimin pointing out different places that need more buttercream while Namjoon simply watches. Though, every now and then his eyes dart to the buttery icing, his mouth salivating at the mere sight of it.
Eventually, once the cake has been iced, you drop the palette knife back into the bowl before pushing it to the side. Unnoticed to you, Namjoon’s eyes follow the movement, his eyes lighting up when he notices a soft mound of the buttercream still left over. Briefly, he contemplates whether he can sneak some away from you and his sons - but that will have to come later.
Meanwhile, you cross the kitchen, and grab your bag of store-bought decorations. If you had more time, you’d consider making them yourself - but sadly, that wasn’t the case this time. Upending the bag, you scatter the boxes and packets across the counter. Immediately, Taehyung and Jimin squeal - their small pudgy hands moving to grab the different packets.
“This one!” they both shout simultaneously, holding up different packages of cake decorations. With a laugh, you nod at both of them.
Stepping back slightly, Namjoon watches as Jimin and Taehyung move in closer to you, their knees perched on the barstools as their hands and chests lean onto the counter. Taehyung’s face is a picture of concentration as he hands one of his embellishments while Jimin points out where you should put them before they swap, Jimin handing you one of his decorations and Taehyung pointing out where you should put it.
There’s no real rhyme or reason to the way the boys garnish the cake and shortly, it’s covered in a plethora of random decorations. Soon, both rainbow coloured and chocolate sprinkles clutter the top, various different embellishments, from chocolate buttons to sugar flowers, litter the cake edges sporadically; and the borders are piped in different sized peaks of soft buttercream. Namjoon knows you love to bake: you’d mentioned once in passing that you used to do it as a stress reliever during university, and he also knows that cake decorating is one of your favourite things: your Instagram feed chock-full of random pastry chefs and amateur bakers. Yet, you still listen to his sons - entertaining their chaotic creativity as you adorn the cake with a plethora of confectionary and colours.
Jungkook is the only one still not involved, by some surprise, and with a quick side glance, Namjoon sees his son’s eyes still glued to the screen of his game console, his hand reaching for his snacks every now and then. Realising both you, and all three of his sons, are otherwise preoccupied, Namjoon turns back to the bowl of icing left forgotten on the side of the counter. Instantly, his eyes light up, and with sneaking glances towards you and his sons, he licks his lips before turning back to the bowl.
Slowly, Namjoon steps away from you - moving purposely so as not to arouse your suspicions. For most of it, you barely notice him, too engrossed in your cake - however, his strange actions garner Jungkook’s attention. Putting his game down, Jungkook watches as his father sneaks across the kitchen, only to quietly pull out a spoon and dip it into icing. Slowly, Jungkook waddles to his father, eyes trained on the way Namjoon licks up the sugary cream from the spoon.
“Daddy, can I have some?” Jungkook asks as he tugs his father’s leg - trying to draw Namjoon’s attention.
“Okay, but don’t tell Noona,” Namjoon quietly whispers. Easily, he picks up his son, only to place him onto one of the seats before pushing the bowl towards him. Jungkook quickly nods - but doesn’t say anything else, instead, poking his little fingers into the frosting.
So engrossed in your cake, you barely notice Jimin sneak away - leaving you and Taehyung to your devices as he joins his father and younger brother. However, after a little while longer, Taehyung disappears as well. Nonetheless, you chalk it down to getting bored and continue to finish up the last of the cake. Once it’s done, you let out a little victory cheer before looking up. However, the first thing you notice, is that Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook’s fingers are all in the bowl, their lips stained with the white buttercream frosting.
“What are you doing? You know that’s basically all sugar - it’s not good for you. What would Namjoon say-” you automatically begin reprimanding. However, when you spot your boyfriend next to them, looking equally guilty - plush lips wrapped around a metal spoon - you let out a little sigh and shake your head. “You know what, he won’t say anything because I have a feeling he’s the reason you’re eating plain buttercream in the first place,” you continue, looking at him pointedly.
Immediately, the three boys nod.
“Daddy said not to tell you! It’s all his fault!” Jungkook says, pointing to his father.
“Yeah! Daddy said we could,” Taehyung chimes in. Swiftly, you pull your bottom lip between your teeth and bite down on it in order to suppress your giggle.
“I saw Daddy and Jungkook eating it, so I wanted to as well,” Jimin butts in.
“Jimin! Taehyung! Jungkook!” Namjoon gasps, looking at his sons in utter betrayal. The sight of his shocked eyes causes you to splutter, and then, immediately you’re laughing.
“Oh my god, they totally ratted you out,” you snicker. Across the counter, Namjoon pouts, his sons giggling to themselves too.
“I can’t believe this. My own sons sold me out to my own girlfriend,” Namjoon teasingly laments. With another snicker, you cross the kitchen and towards him. Standing in front of him, you wind your hands around his waist and leaning on your tiptoes, you kiss the tip of his nose.
“It’s what you deserve, letting them eat plain sugar like that,” you answer, your eyes twinkling with mischief. Naturally, Namjoon’s arms wrap around you as he draws you closer to him.
Dipping his head down, he brushes his lips against yours, causing you to gasp. Reflexively, you poke your tongue out to lick your lips and a breathy moan falling from your mouth when you taste the sweetened vanilla on your lips. “It’s not funny, my love. I’m really hurt, you know. Will you kiss it better?” Namjoon asks, a roguish smile curling onto his lips. His warm breath fans across your face, your eyes fluttering as the saccharine aroma of both Namjoon and the buttercream wafts through your nose.
Breath hitching in your throat, your hands trail up his chest to curl around his neck, pulling him closer to you. “It’s a figurative hurt, where am I supposed to kiss?” you reply cheekily, your own eyes twinkling with mischief as you look up at him through the thick of your lashes.
Once again, Namjoon hums. It’s deeper this time, however - a little more sensuous. “I think I know,” he replies. Then, without giving you any time to think about it, his lips descend onto yours.

Cake box in one hand, and Jungkook holding your other, you walk into the lobby of JinHit’s building - Namjoon ushering in his twins behind you. As soon as you get in, you notice Seokjin and Hoseok standing, speaking to each other.
“Hyung!” Taehyung calls out, tugging on his father’s hand as he tries to run towards them. Immediately, Seokjin and Hoseok turn around, greeting the five of you with a wave.
“Oh wow, did you buy a cake?” Seokjin asks, peering at the white cake box in curiosity.
Immediately, “Noona baked it! Hyungie and I helped!” Jimin says proudly, a bright smile on his face.
Hoseok quirks his eyebrows, “did you now? And where was Jungkookie in all of this?” he questions, turning to the youngest.
“Playing games,” Jungkook simply shrugs, not thinking anything of it. His deadpan answer causes Hoseok and Seokjin to laugh before they nod.
“Alright, and I assume you just watched?” Seokjin chuckles while clapping Namjoon on the back.
Before he can reply, “watched? More like distracted me and then ate the rest of the icing,” you snort - once again looking at him pointedly. Namjoon’s mouth curls, his ears burning bright red as he pouts.
“Oh yeah, that makes sense,” Hoseok replies, nodding sagely, “did he try eating sugar out of the spoon again?” he continues. Both you and Seokjin snicker, Namjoon letting out a sigh of exasperation.
“Can we just go? We’re here to celebrate Yoongi’s birthday, not make fun of me,” Namjoon pouts, a slight whiny tone to his voice. Seeing the sheepishness in his eyes, you adjust the cake box in your hold before shuffling closer and kissing his jaw in comfort. Head angling down to you, Namjoon smiles softly in thanks before returning your kiss - his lips brushing against your temple.
“Gross,” Hoseok gripes playfully, causing both you and Namjoon to stick your tongues out at him.
“Alright, alright. Let’s go, Yoongi’s probably wondering where we are,” Seokjin says - playing peacemaker in Yoongi’s stead. Then, he gestures the lot of you to follow him.
Contrary to Seokjin’s words, however, Yoongi was in no way waiting for you. Walking into the meeting room upstairs, you come to an empty room - Seokjin letting out a sigh of frustration. “God damn it! I told him to meet us here. Did he forget?” Seokjin grouses, his eyebrows furrowing in exasperation.
“Knowing hyung, he’s still in his studio,” Hoseok points out. His words, however, only causes Seokjin to let out a sigh of frustration.
“Let’s just go to his studio,” he replies before ushering you out of the room. Once again, he navigates the lot of you through the various corridors of the building - before you come upon a large wooden door. A gold plaque hangs on it, the words ‘Genius Lab’ embossed in black on the metal plate.
Aggressively, Seokjin begins knocking - practically banging his fist against the door. “Yah! Min Yoongi! Did I not tell you to be in the meeting room?” he yells. Instantly, the door swings wide open, Yoongi standing in the doorway.
Quirking an eyebrow, “I was waiting - but you’re like ten minutes late - so I decided to do some work,” Yoongi replies, his face passive as usual.
“Sorry, there was a bit of traffic,” you apologise with a small bow. Yoongi opens his mouth to reply, however, before he can say anything, Namjoon’s sons are running up to him.
Jimin and Taehyung wrap their arms around each one of his legs, Jungkook standing between them and winding his own arms around Yoongi’s waist. “Yoonie hyung! Happy birthday!” they sweetly chorus at the same time. Immediately, Yoongi’s face softens, and instinctively, he pets their heads, a shy smile on his face while he nods at them.
A bright grin plastered onto his face, “Noona, Hyungie and I baked you a cake!” Jimin says proudly, causing you to shyly hold up the cake box. Yoongi’s eyes twinkle slightly before he’s stepping to the side. Taking his cue, you all quickly enter his studio.
Swiftly, you unbox the cake, and while Hoseok holds it up - you sing happy birthday. The entire time, Yoongi’s cheeks are bunched up under his eyes, his bright gummy smile on display while he bounces in place. After you’re done, and Yoongi’s cut his cake, everyone sporadically finds seats around Yoongi’s studio. Hoseok, Jimin and Taehyung sit on the floor, the younger twin in the older man’s lap as Jimin happily eats his cake beside them. Seokjin sits on the sofa, Jungkook in his father’s lap - leaving you to sit on the sofa arm besides Namjoon.
“So, are you working on anything interesting?” you ask, idly chewing on your cake while addressing Yoongi.
Nodding, “I’m actually working on a new song - do you want to hear?” Yoongi asks. Eyelids blowing wide open, you freeze in place before your jaw drops open.
“A-Are you sure?” you stutter out. Was he really offering you an exclusive sneak peek of his future track? God, sometimes you really forget that your, now, closest friends are huge musical celebrities. Sure, your own boyfriend is a famous rapper, as is Hoseok, but other than that discussion about their upcoming tour, you’ve never really gotten involved with their jobs. Namjoon rarely tended to bring it up at home, wanting to focus more on his sons and your relationship. Besides, Yoongi had always been your favourite rapper - and just the thought of getting to listen to a demo of his song has your heart racing.
“Earth to ____?” Seokjin says, waving his hand in front of your face with a playful laugh. Quickly, you bat his hand away before glaring at him with a pout, your cheeks heating from embarrassment.
“Look at her! She’s blushing like a little girl, oh my god,” Hoseok begins taunting, then he pauses. “Wait- didn’t you mention Yoongi is your favourite rapper when we first met?” he asks, a knowing smirk curling onto his face.
Features twisting into a scowl, you sneer at him, “well it’s definitely not you. You’re too mean to me,” you snidely reply, before sticking your tongue out.
Wincing jokingly, “ouch, you really wound me, ____” Hoseok dramatically sighs, clutching his heart and shaking his head.
“It’s because I’m the nicest to her,” Yoongi chimes in, nodding sagely.
“Hey! I’m nice to her,” Hoseok yells in indignation.
However, ignoring Hoseok, “Wait- Yoongi, are you sure I can listen?” you ask, remembering Yoongi’s first question.
He turns back to you before nodding and rolling his chair a little to the side. “Yeah, come on,” Yoongi beckons. Eyes lighting up with joy, you shoot off the sofa and over to him in an instant.
The moment you move, Namjoon blinks at the unexpected movement. The entire time Hoseok had teased you, he’d felt a little upset. Of course, he’d always known Yoongi is your favourite rapper - and he’d never begrudge you for it. Nonetheless, he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t just a little upset that he’s not your favourite. Gaze trained on you, Namjoon watches as Yoongi pressed one of the headphone speakers to his ear, offering the other to you, before opening up the track and clicking play.
As soon as the beat begins, your eyebrows knit together, your lips a firm line. He knows the expression well: very rarely do you bring home paperwork - both of you prefer to keep work out of your relationship - but the few times you have, he’s watched that exact same expression of concentration, your pen flitting over the papers. Every now and then, your eyes twinkle, a short gasp falling from your lips as you nod to the beat. Unable to help himself, Namjoon cannot stop the swell of jealousy, sadness and a slight twinge of possessiveness that wells up inside him.
When you shuffle a little closer to Yoongi, your ears pressed together as you share the headphones, Namjoon knows he can’t watch anymore. Quietly, he passes Jungkook over to Seokjin before shuffling out of the room. Hoseok and Seokjin look at each other, exchanging a brief knowing glance between themselves. As soon as you spot Namjoon’s movement from the corner of your eye, before you watch him softly slam the door shut, you draw away from Yoongi.
Turning to the other two, “Is he okay?” you ask, your eyebrows knotting together in concern.
“I think he’s a little jealous,” Seokjin replies softly. For a moment, you almost dismiss him, until you see the seriousness in his eyes.
“What? Why?” you ask, confusion lacing your voice.
“Just watching you and Yoongi, maybe? Like we all know there’s nothing going on, but like, yeah,” Hoseok tries explaining, rubbing the back of his head. “He’s probably a little mad too,” he continues. Seeing your face fall, Hoseok quickly shakes his head, “Not at you! At himself for feeling the way he is- he’s probably just trying to control himself and needed a breather,” he finishes. Placated by Hoseok’s words, you nod, knowing he’d never lie to you. However, his words don’t stop your heart clenching in your chest, your stomach dropping. You’d never wanted to make him feel upset - or jealous.
“I think I’ll go speak to him,” Yoongi cuts in, already getting up from his seat. Quickly, you shake your head, already shooting up to your feet.
“No!” you abruptly interject. Shuffling over to the cake, you cut a large piece of it before placing it on a paper plate. “It’s okay. I think it’d be better if I go. Watch my boys for me yeah?” you say once you're done, before shooting out of the room, not even waiting for a response.
The moment the door slams shut, the three of them turn to each other. “Do you think she noticed she used ‘my’ or…?” Seokjin asks.
With a wistful smile, “No, I don’t think she did,” Yoongi replies, shaking his head fondly.
“Well, looks like your Noona may become your mommy soon,” Hoseok chimes in as he directs his attention to the boys.
Ecstatically, Taehyung turns in Hoseok’s lap, looking at the older man in wide-eyed wonder. Standing up in his lap - Hoseok wincing when the entirety of his weight pushes down on his legs - Taehyung presses his pudgy hands against Hoseok’s cheeks before squishing them together, “Really?” the toddler asks, his voice full of excitement and hope.
Laughing, Hoseok nods his head in Taehyung’s hold, “really,” he replies. Seokjin and Yoongi nodding along to his sentiment.

The first words we say, Part Three
Soulmate AU!!!!!! Because I’m a sucker for them honestly!
Evan Buckley x Reader x Eddie Diaz
Y/N: your name
Summary: everyone has a soulmate; some even have two. You just happen to be one of the lucky few who have two soulmates. But you don’t see it as luck, no you’ve only ever seen it as a curse. And now you’ve come face to face with one of your soulmates!
Part One Part Two Part Three
Tumblr media
It’s been several weeks since you and Buck got your shit together and finally started talking to each other. Since your heart to heart in the locker room Buck has taken you out on several dates, and each one was amazing. The two of you were taking it slow, just trying to get to know each other. And you couldn’t have been happier. Life was amazing. Between work, and the family you’d made with your coworkers, and having one of your soulmates in your life, things where going great.
The only problem was your parents. They hadn’t left LA. And they seemed determined to ruin your life. They would show up at the most inopportune times. They’d show up at your calls, and just standing there in the crowd glaring at you and your team. They’d wait for you outside the station, which meant you had to have Buck and Bobby walk you to your car after work. They even showed up at your apartment on several occasions. They would bang on your door for an hour before giving up and going away.
Any time they got the chance they’d yell at you and call you names. The last straw had been when you where leaving work one day, and your parents had confronted you, Buck, and Bobby. Things had gotten heated pretty quickly, and your dad had backhanded you across the face. Which sent both Bobby and Buck into a rage. Buck had managed to get a punch in, and Bobby was about to throw one of his own when Chimney and Hen had stepped in and pulled them back.
After that Bobby had taken you straight to his soulmate, Athena, who was a cop. He had you explain everything about your parents to her and how they’d been harassing you. She helped you get a restraining order on your parents, and now they weren’t allowed within 200 feet of you.
But other than the stuff with your parents everything was going great. And you where actually starting to look forward to meeting your other soulmate. You still had some anxiety about it. Hell you still had some anxiety about being with Buck. But whenever you started to doubt yourself Buck would step in and make sure you knew just how much he cared about you. So yeah, you where looking forward to meeting this other soulmate. And as fate would have it your other soulmate was going to be working at the station as well.
It started off as any other day. You went through your usual morning routine, morning run, showering, and breakfast, then headed off for work. You and Buck would meet up in the parking lot outside the station, share a quick hello kisses, then the two of you would head into the station together hand in hand. The two of you exchanged the usually banter with the other firefighters of the station as you made your way over to Bobby, Chim, and Hen.
The second you guys reached them Buck started gushing about the firefighter calendar and how he was going to be picked for it. But then Chim had caught sight of the new recruite behind you and Buck, drawing everyone’s attention to the man with his comment about how good looking the man was. And you couldn’t help but stare. The man was gorgeous, tall, dark haired, and had abs for days. You felt horrible for thinking this way when one of your soulmates was standing next to you. But damn was the man good looking. And something about him just seemed to draw you in.
“Who the hell is that?” Buck questioned, scowling at the man.
He didn’t like the way everyone was paying attention to the new guy, especially you. But he couldn’t help but admit to himself that the guy was defiantly gorgeous as all hell, and he could have stood there all day staring at the man’s abs. Which left him feel highly confused. He hadn’t even looked at anyone in that way since you and him had started officially dating. So why was he staring at this man like that when you where standing right next to him?
“That’s Eddie Diaz, new recruit graduated top of his class just this week. Guys over at Station 6 were dying to have him, but I convinced him to join us,” Bobby stated proudly, even sounding a bit smug.
“What do we need him for?” Buck asked, annoyance seeping into his voice.
Hen and Chim snickered at his obvious jealousy, and even Bobby couldn’t help but smile at Buck’s antics.
“He served multiple tours in Afghanistan as an Army medic. Guy’s got a Silver Star. It’s not like h’s wet behind the ears. Come on, I’ll introduce you to him. He likes to be called eight pack,” Bobby joked.
He moved off towards Eddie, and everyone followed after him.
“Eddie, I want you to meet Hen, Chimney, Buck, and Y/N,” Bobby introduced, patting the man on the shoulder.
“Hey, nice to meet all of you,” Eddie exclaimed, smiling brightly at all of you.
You gasped as you felt a slight burning pain over your heart, and you heard a gasp from Buck. You glanced over at Buck for a second with wide eyes, and your expression was mirrored on his face.
“Oh shit!” “Son of a bitch!” You and Buck exclaimed at the same time.
Eddie gasped, a hand going to his chest where his soul marks where and he stared at the two of you with the same look of shock that you and buck had. Bobby, Hen, and Chim where looking between the three of you in disbelief.
“Holy shit! Did what I think just happen, happen?” Hen questioned.
“I think so,” Chim muttered.
Bobby couldn’t help but smile like a damn fool. You and Buck had been like his surrogate kids and he was so happy for the both of you when you two finally got your shit together and started dating. And now you two had found your other soulmate. And he couldn’t help but feel a little smug that he’d been the one to unintentionally bring your soulmate into the station and to you.
“Well I think the three of you have some things to discuss. Why don’t we all head up to the loft, and the three of you can hang out on the couch and talk while I get breakfast ready,” Bobby suggested.
You, Buck, and Eddie just nodded your heads and followed him up to the loft. You where silently freaking out. For the past several weeks you’d been dying to meet your other soulmate. But now that he was standing before you, that familiar doubt was starting to eat at you. Thoughts about how you weren’t good enough kept running through your head, and you where ready to turn and run right out of the station.
Buck sensed your growing distress and he gently grabbed your arm, stopping you in your tracks. His hand came up to your face, and you couldn’t help but lean into his touch. He looked you in the eyes, trying to figure out your state of mind. Neither of you had noticed that Eddie had stopped walking the second he’d noticed the two of you had stopped walking.
“Hey, Y/N, I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere. Remember what I’ve told you. You are not a disappointment, you are not messed up, and you are not a burden! It’s going to be okay,” Buck stated, maintaining eye contact with you.
You nodded your head, and took a deep breath trying to stop the flow of bad thoughts. Buck pulled you into his chest, wrapping his arms around you protectively and you melted in his hold. Eddie watched the two of you in confusion. He had no idea what was going on, but he knew something bad must have happened to you based off of what he heard Buck say to you.
“I’m good now Buck, thank you,” You whispered, pulling out of his hold.
He smiled down at you and gave you a quick kiss. Then the two of you laced your fingers together and turned towards Eddie. You held your hand out to him, which he took, and the two of you lead him up to the loft. It was a slow morning thankfully, and the three of you spent the time talking, getting to know each other.
You told Eddie about your parents and all that they had done to you, both in the past and present. To say he was mad was an understatement, he was completely furious, and he knew if he ever came face to face with your parents he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from hitting one or both of them.
After you and Buck had told him about yourselves he told the both of you about himself. He told you both how when he was younger he had dated a woman named Shannon and how he’d gotten her pregnant and the two had a kid named Christopher. He told you two about how despite knowing that she wasn’t his soulmate and he wasn’t hers the two of them stuck together for years for Christopher. He told you both about how shortly after he left the Army Shannon left, abandoning him and Christopher. He then told the two of you all about Christopher, and both of you where eager to meet Christopher. It was obvious how much Eddie loved his son, and it warmed your heart to watch him gush about the boy.
The rest of the shift was pretty quiet, with only a few calls here and there, including a guy who got a grenade stuck in his thigh. When the shift was over Eddie took the both of you back to his place so you could meet Christopher. And the boy was just as amazing and adorable in person as he was in Eddie’s stories. Christopher took an instant liking to you and Buck.
Sitting there in Eddie’s house, watching your two soulmate talk and play with Christopher, it finally really and truly sunk in. You deserved to be happy. You weren’t some broken thing undeserving of love. And this was your family, one you wouldn’t give up for anything in the world.
“You okay?” Buck asked, sitting down next to you.
“I’m fine. Just realizing how much I love you guys,” You whispered, smiling up at him.
His smile was bright and made your heart speed up. Suddenly you had an arm full of Christopher, who’d decided to give you the biggest hug he possibly could.
“We love you too Y/N!” He proclaimed, arms wrapping around your neck.
Eddie sat down on your other side, and it turned into a group hug. Yeah, you could defiantly get used to this. This is where you belonged, and you where so happy that you hadn’t let your fears keep you from your soulmates…

Ugh thank you sooo much for that meta on Buck/the firefam/mental health. I was tired of seeing all those takes demonizing the firefam for not fully recognizing Buck's internal struggles. Like you said, we can only do so much with what we currently know. I love Buck as much as the next and would love to give him the hug he desperately needs, but there's a little too much bias and coddling for my taste in this fandom. Everyone is accountable and everyone made mistakes, but some forget that.
Oh my dear sweet nonny, you are playing my song. I’ve been yelling about this for DAYS to anyone who will sit still long enough. Fandom tends to do this - they have a character who’s the favorite (almost always a white man) and he can Do No Wrong and must be cuddled and coddled, which is... ah... not great. For several reasons.
It’s important to remember that we the audience are treated to a look inside the heads of the characters in a way that the other characters are not. WE see that Buck is hurting because we’re being given his point of view, but that doesn’t mean what’s obvious to us is obvious to the firefam. Nobody is a mind reader. I joke that my best friend can always predict what I’m thinking and doing, but the truth is, she can’t actually read my mind and know exactly what I’m going through if I don’t tell her. Communication is an important part of being in relationships, romantic or otherwise.
Buck, bless his golden retriever heart, has through Abby and the firefam, finally figured out one half of being in a relationship: giving, putting the needs of others before yourself, being respectful. But (as seen from the repeated motif “you’re making this about yourself again”), Buck hasn’t figured out the other half: receiving, how to see that you’re cared for, how to communicate what you need. His relationships are turning into one-way streets as a result and it’s taking a toll. My hope is that the next two episodes of season three will show Buck learning how to express what he needs while seeing that he is, in fact, already loved.
Oliver Stark (the actor who plays Buck) has repeatedly said that Abby’s return in the next episode is to bring Buck closure. My hope with that is Abby will give him that closure and her return will show him how much he is already loved by the firefam. He doesn’t need Abby. He has all that he needs already, and he is loved and valued.
Acting like Buck has never done anything wrong ever does not only the other characters, but Buck himself a disservice. Buck is a flawed imperfect wonderful human just like the rest of us. If he never messed up he wouldn’t be as good of a character. And he messed up. He messed up when he proved he was so desperate to get back to work he couldn’t be trusted with his own health and would put his literal life in danger. He messed up when he started the lawsuit (THAT STUPID FUCKING LAWSUIT JESUS FUCKING CHRIST--) and didn’t warn anyone in the 118 in advance, didn’t say goodbye, especially to Christopher.
And are you seriously telling me that in the five months of recovery, not one of them EVER saw Buck EVER? Nah. That wasn’t a “we haven’t seen you because you’ve been away in rehab” party in 3x01, that was a “congrats on passing your test” party. There’s no indication at any point that they’ve been ignoring Buck that whole time and I would bet actual money (which I cannot afford) that they were all there to help Buck with his recovery - especially, in my opinion, Chim and Eddie. Chim has, twice now, had to recover from extreme physical injuries, and Eddie has PTSD from his tour, and so both are uniquely positioned to understand what Buck’s going through.
People like to see things in black and white, and when you love someone, it’s easy to turn that black and white thinking on and say, “this person has never done anything wrong ever, and I will always defend them.” Especially since Buck is the youngest main character on the show until Eddie arrives (and Ryan just looks older than Oliver) and, well, a lot of people find Buck attractive. When a character is a) young b) hot and c) a lot of people identify with them - I’ve seen a lot of people saying “I identify with Buck” - it’s hard to admit to their faults. But it’s okay for characters to be flawed! It doesn’t mean you can’t love them anymore! If all characters we loved were perfect we’d have no stories to tell!
The firefam didn’t always realize when Bobby was struggling. They didn’t always realize when Chimney was struggling. People are good at hiding the shit they don’t want you to see. There’s two sides to this, and Buck, while an adorable darling puppy boy, is also an adult who needs to learn to not only recognize he is loved (and methinks go to therapy for his abandonment issues), but to say, “I feel alone and I need to be reminded that you love me.”
Because we all need that reminder sometimes. Even from the ones we know love us the most.

I woke up and decided to analyze each 9-1-1 pairing with regards to timing and also buddie
I just woke up and all im gonna say right now is this: this is long-winded but basically it takes a look at all the relationships on 9-1-1 and compare the timing and level of intimacy to that of buck and eddie’s relationship.
at the end of season 1 of 911 I remember watching and realizing they were gonna push the whole bobby and athena relationship, and I was surprised, because I didnt think there was any preamble or much hinting to it. but I guess it made sense to me - they were both single, both in the same social circle, they got along. sure, made sense. and then season 2 comes along and they’re smack dab in the middle of their relationship and we have zero time to adjust to it as an audience, but once again, we quickly did (mind you, I did not watch it live as intently as a fan would, but I do recall a lot of episodes because my mom watches the show and I remembered a lot when I was catching up myself). at this point bobby and athena are happily married and I really do love them together, genuinely.
then, maddie comes along and there’s a bit more to the story. she has a lot going on, a lot she’s been through and we spend much of her first season getting to know her and watching her confront her past and create her own present. chimney had a bit of a rough start with relationships (.... tatiana, sorry love, but you could’ve had it all sis). her and chimney start out as friends but it’s very clear from their blossoming friendship that the writers intend for us to want a relationship for them, and we DO. because theyre adorable together and genuinely have so much chemistry and they’re good for one another. it’s a bit of a slowburn but we get there eventually, so much so that in the season 3 finale, we find out maddie is pregnant! which yes, did make me cry shut up.
hen and karen had a rough start. even if they did look happy, they went through a ton of shit in the first and second season, especially the first season. which is fair; hen cheated on karen, and a large part of her storyline revolved around her ex and having to fight for denny. but there’s so much love between them, and a heavy history that is palpable through the screen. by the time season 2 comes around, they are a bit more grounded, and more so by the time season 3, too. it was interesting to think about their relationship is comparison to the others, which we watched blossom in real time. especially in season 3, because we see their love and support of one another during their attempt to have another child, and yes I also did cry when they met nia for the first time and no I will not elaborate. hen also went through a lot of shit this season; karen, despite what she went through, was and continues to be super wonderful and supportive, if a bit wary (but its okay because drunk karen and chim was a gift and we were well fed) for a second. their relationship is everything and also karen carries the whole show’s sense of humor on her back, I said what I said.
then we have three more main relationships: michael and athena’s, which is over in episode 1; buck and abby (im not counting ali because genuinely she was in three episodes, im only looking at the main relationships for each character), which starts and ends in season 1; and eddie and shannon, which technically starts before season 1 and kinda ends in season 2 but then she dies.
personally I dont think there’s much to add about michael and athena’s relationship. firstly, michael is a doll and if they hurt him in season 4 I will riot. but more so, the show gave us a LOT to work with in terms of their past relationship. also, it was interesting as a viewer, to learn about them from the bottom up. we see the tail-end of their romantic relationship and watch it get replaced with a genuine love and care for each other and their family. it’s a stark contrast to what a lot of shows on television would go for; it has a bit of rough, bumpy start, but by midway through season 2, they’re both on steady ground in terms of personal family life, and it’s actually a breath of fresh air. their dynamic is heavily surrounded by love for family, and we love love love that.
I think with abby and buck we all liked it a little, at the start. buck was sweet to her and we see a change in attitude and an effort from buck that is clear to have never been made before. abby is also a pretty admirable character; she takes care of her mother, is incredible at her job as a dispatcher, and she struggles with maintaining personal relationships but still gives it a go with buck. and buck, from the start to end of the season, grows a lot, both independently from and surrounding their relationship. as a viewer I watched the show way later on, so I knew abby was leaving and honestly, I really did like her and their chemistry. as we go into season 2, we have buck, who is still living in abby’s place, and then the introduction of eddie.
so here’s the thing; this is where I was trying to get to. the show (the writers) made and continue to make interesting character and relationship choices. with eddie and shannon, there is a very clear closeness and chemistry between them that yes, does get revamped for a little. there is also history, which is very important and can’t be disregarded. but more than anything, we are looking at timing in this meta. eddie comes along in season 2 and there are a lot of things happening: hen and karen are getting back to normal, athena and bobby are suddenly dating, buck and abby are - despite what buck thinks - very over, and chim is single and ready to pringle, plus maddie is new and freshly separated from d*ug. as we go through season 2, we see development with athena and bobby, very clearly on their way to a stable relationship and marriage. hen and karen are working through things, we don't really doubt their relationship either. both maddie and chimney are single, and they become friends, and we very quickly, as viewers, realize where the writers are taking us and what they want us to think.
so now im gonna get on my clown shit when I talk about buck and eddie. specifically, regarding the writers and their timing and why I think they’re either really stupid or actually very smart.
listen, everyone loves slowburn. hell, I'm writing a buddie au that will probably end up being like, upwards of 80k words and it’s gonna be a slowburn. buck, at the beginning of season 2, is in denial. im not gonna go through details but I will say that like..... okay, he’s heartbroken and thats fair. eddie, through means of “what a man,” is introduced and within one fell swoop, buck is immediately jealous and then like, twenty four hours later, they’re besties. tea. totally fair. in terms of timing, especially regarding relationships, there really aren’t many things to note: buck goes through that weird thing with taylor kelly, eddie goes through his drama with shannon, and when shannon wants a divorce, it kinda all goes to shit. by the end of season 2, we have buck trying to move on (and also nearly dying by means of a firetruck but thats not my point but also writers wtf) and dating ali (guys how do you spell her name lol) while eddie deals with the aftermath of his (ex, technically but I don't know if its mean to say that) wife. there are more than a few moments between buck and eddie that hint to a potential romance and feelings, like the santa scene and multiple others. then, season 3 is very very interesting.
buck and ally(? seriously I don't know) are broken up, eddie is focused on christopher and actually, also buck, and then the tsunami happens. there is also not much going on in terms of other relationships on the show; maddie and chim get their shit together while also having a crazy season starting and ending with talking about having kids with a brief intermission of “I cant say I love you” and nearly dying on both parts and albert appears lol (and then disappears, too?? wtf). athena and bobby are pretty cool, hen and karen are trying for kids and hen wants to be a doctor. we have some others, like josh, who go through too much shit for my liking and deserve better, and michael, who...... deserves the world.
okay. cleared that up. but timing-wise, if we look at the writers and their regard for timing, then we see this: any time two characters are single and there’s an ounce of friendship even hinted, they end up together. fine, that’s fair to say because we’ve seen it, right? after the tsunami, which is a WHOLE OTHER thing im not getting into, we have the lawsuit, eddie fighting, lena bosko (yall can be mad but she was hella cool), hen killing that cello (I think) player, michael getting sick, wow this season was fucking insane holy shit.
but in terms of character relationships and timing, a lot goes on with buck and eddie. in this one season alone, we go from eddie being the first one to hug buck at his surprise party and christopher giving buck a card with “bff” on it, then buck almost dies (again) and eddie is, quite frankly, the only one who takes no crap from him after he quits and then the tsunami and buck literally tearing himself apart to find his best friend’s son and collapsing at the sight of them reunited and then “there’s no one I trust more with my son than you” (is that the quote, I don't know it by heart) and THEN heart eyes, and then the lawsuit and supermarket and “you’re exhausting” and “christopher misses you” and “I couldn't even call you to bail me outta jail” and then the “I’m hearing a lotta ‘I’s, buck” and “I forgive you” and then the Infamous Kitchen Scene and me endlessly screaming WHY WAS BUCK’S HAND ON HIS BELT LIKE THAT? but also very pointedly I will say eddie fighting specifically when he can’t talk to buck and then it stops around the time he can hmmmmm. and also “this is eddie’s house im not really a guest here” then the fuckaifajfgkjfglgakjdgag tunnel collapsing and buck literally, once again tearing himself and everything apart for a diaz, digging with his bare hands and the defeated look on his face and refusing to think about eddie dying and eddie very nearly dying but then recalling christopher, his family, buck, then christopher and buck, then christopher and buck again, then a rare shannon appears, and then it’s just-
okay. OKay. O K AY. ok. here’s what I think. either the writers are incredibly smart or just viciously stupid, or the third, lesser liked option, they know what they’re doing and don’t give two shits. they are sitting on, and quite frankly they have created, a fucking goldmine. but in terms of timing, and relationship choices, we have eddie and anna(?) as a brief thing that will either reappear in season 4 or never be touched again, then abby’s lame-ass apology that was just her attempting to justify her actions by claiming she simply just should’ve told buck sooner. but a lot of this season explores buck’s loneliness, and in a way, too, eddie’s.
yes, eddie has christopher, and the others? they have families and significant others. buck has no one (except maddie but you get my point) to go home to. I think, in terms of timing and thematic elements, this season took the time to explore the loneliness of two men, but also by doing so, only high-lighted their need for one another, their love for one another. in the past, that has lead to two couples getting together: athena and bobby, and chimney and maddie.
so, my point is, season 4 is the make it or break it point. we got (weak-ass) closure with abby, eddie’s anger and regret with shannon (and yes, christopher), an exploration of both of their loneliness, and a very, very clear rocket launch of their closeness and dependence on one another, in season 3. it started with a lot and ended with closure on all extraneous factors that could have possibly deterred the two of them from a potential relationship. more so, abby is getting married and buck has no choice but to move on; he may not have loved her anymore but he needed the closure (and no I do not think it was good enough and I think buck deserved more but that’s not my point).
this can’t be read that much into. it’s not subtle, it’s not subtext. it’s very clearly there on our screens, with every small or big line. they mean a lot to each other. anyone with eyes can say that, has to say that. the problem is, what’s the intention? like, are the writers actually doing what I've just said, setting up for a slowburn, taking it season by season. you can look at it that way, and it actually doesnt take a lot to get to that point of a thought process. there is a HUGE, fundamental shift in buck and eddie’s relationship in season 3. there is a perceived difference in their friendship versus both their relationship with others and the friendship between others. denny doesn’t call chimney his best friend, “his chimney.” athena has never once told hen she trusts her children with her more than anyone in the world.
there are a lot of interesting choices that have been made over the course of three season, particularly this past season. there are also a lot of possibilities for the upcoming season. we may see a return of that teacher, we might see buck fall into other women, we may see eddie not fully over shannon, or (hopefully not) an abby return. it’s just a matter of waiting, but there’s no denying the way things were left off; buck and eddie were both single throughout the entirety of season 3, considerably closer and not guests at each other’s place, both very lonely in spite of the people around them, closer to each other than the rest of the 118, both have a family member (or more than one for eddie) to keep them anchored. buck is, yes, more lonely, but they are both left off in the same place. my question, more than anything, is whether it’s intentional after all that’s said and done. and if it’s not, then why, pray tell, are the writers following their OWN very clear and self-fulfilled pattern of timing and relationships to an even stronger extent than they ever have?

‘Hey, guys,’ I say as I enter the kitchen, taking a seat at the breakfast bar with a yawn. When I woke up, five minutes ago, the bed was empty and Jimin was nowhere to be seen. I went for a quick wee, washed my face, put on some of Jimin’s socks and my bra from last night underneath Jimin’s hoodie, and then headed downstairs, surprised to find the house tidy and intact. I look up now, six pairs of eyes on me. Jin is stood at the cooker, making pancakes, and the other boys are sat around the island. ‘Um, good afternoon, y/n. I wasn’t aware you’d spent the night,’ Namjoon says, speaking for the group. ‘Yeah, I slept in Jimin’s room,’ I reply. ‘With Jimin?’ Jin asks with a raised eyebrow, and I shrug. ‘I fell asleep with an empty bed and woke up with an empty bed, so he might’ve slept with me, I don’t know,’ I reply truthfully. ‘Yeah, he’s gone out,’ Yoongi says, seemingly unfazed, going back to his food. ‘Where?’ I ask, and they all shrug. ‘He just said he’d be back soon. He’s been gone, like, twenty minutes,’ Jungkook says, blushing slightly when I meet his eyes. ‘I’ll call him if he’s not back in the next half an hour,’ I say, not worried because I know he’s a busy guy. ‘I hope you don’t mind me asking, y/n, but, um, is there a particular reason you spent the night?’ Taehyung asks, all of the boys a lot more chill and mellow with me compared to in the library and at the party last night. ‘Yeah, there is,’ I say with a note of finality, not saying anything else. ‘Another question; is there a particular reason I saw Jungkook leaving Jimin’s room last night?’ Hoseok asks, directing the question at both parties. Our eyes meet, and he shrugs, leaving the answer up to me. ‘Yes, there is,’ I say again, and small smiles appear on all of their faces.
‘Okay, you might all be respecting their privacy, but I sure as hell am not going to. Are you and Jimin like… you know?’ Jin asks, and I sigh. ‘We’re not dating, if that’s what you’re asking,’ I say, and they all look at me expectantly, waiting for the rest of the answer. ‘When I broke up with Eunwoo, me and Jimin used to… hook up, regularly. Pretty much every other day for a good few months. But then we stopped and didn’t speak for, like, two years. But on Thursday, after the events of the library, he came over that night. And invited me to the party the next morning, so I came, and then I stayed the night,’ I explain. ‘How did he manage to keep that from us?’ Hobi asks. ‘More importantly, why did he keep that from us?’ Tae asks, all of the boys shrugging. ‘I can answer that one,’ I say. ‘Let me guess. You didn’t want anyone to know?’ Jungkook asks. ‘Actually, no. It was Jimin that didn’t want anyone to know,’ I say, and they all look at me incredulously. ‘Seriously?’ Yoongi asks me, and I nod. ‘He has a reputation for one-night stands, nothing more. He didn’t want anyone to know that me and him were a regular thing,’ I say. ‘What a dick,’ Namjoon chuckles, shaking his head. ‘So what’s Kook got to do with this?’ Jin asks. ‘Nothing. Jimin just invited me,’ Jungkook says smugly. ‘No fair,’ Tae whines, and I roll my eyes. ‘Do you want something to eat, y/n?’ Jin asks, and I shake my head. ‘I’m taking that as a yes,’ he says, putting a plate of pancakes in front me, strawberries, golden syrup, whipped cream and all. I sigh, beginning to eat it, and they’re even better than the ones Jimin made me. ‘Thank you,’ I say, and Jin smiles at me.
‘Are you and Jimin gonna continue hooking up or…?’ Hobi asks. ‘Why, so you can take his place if not?’ Yoongi asks dryly, all of us laughing. ‘I don’t know. I don’t think so,’ I say, knowing that I’ll need to break it off if I don’t want to catch feelings again. ‘Why not?’ Tae asks, head tilted endearingly, and I sigh. ‘I don’t know. It’s just… not sustainable, right? I can’t go on like that with him. We’re not in any kind of relationship, we have no commitment to each other. It’s just weird,’ I say. ‘Not really. You’re friends with benefits. That’s like the best relationship a guy can have. No strings attached,’ Hobi says. ‘It’s not the kind of relationship I want though. I want to settle down, find a boyfriend. I’m graduating soon and then I’ll be working. It’s the perfect time to date someone,’ I say, and Namjoon laughs. ‘y/n, boyfriends aren’t part of schedules. You can’t put a boyfriend in a future plan. The right boy for you will come along completely unexpectedly, because that’s how life works,’ he says. ‘Yeah, and that right boy isn’t Jimin,’ I say. ‘Why not?’ Yoongi asks, looking at me thoughtfully. ‘He doesn’t date, you should all know that as well as I do. He wouldn’t ever want to settle down,’ I say. ‘Yeah, but is that the only reason?’ Jin asks. ‘Well, no. I just don’t really like him like that. He’s attractive, don’t get me wrong, and he has good dick, but other than that, I’m not into him,’ I lie through my teeth, Yoongi’s eyes narrowed at me. ‘Fair enough,’ Hobi shrugs, buying it, as do Jin, Jungkook and Namjoon, though Tae and Yoongi eye me suspiciously.
Jimin walks in then, stopping short when he sees me. ‘Hey, y/n,’ he says guardedly, frozen in the doorway, a chemist’s bag in his hand. ‘Hey, Jimin,’ I reply, the boys watching us amusedly. ‘What’s that, Chim?’ Yoongi asks, eyes trained on the bag in his hand. ‘Just some painkillers, for my migraine,’ Jimin says instantly, and I know he’s lying. But again, Namjoon, Jin, Jungkook and Hobi buy it. ‘Let’s see,’ Tae says, obviously not believing it. ‘I…’ Jimin trails off, and Yoongi grabs the bag out of his hand, pulling out a box of morning after pills with an amused smile. ‘I’m guessing these are for you, y/n,’ Yoongi says, putting the box back in the bag and sliding it across the counter. I pick it up, trying not to laugh when I see loads of pregnancy tests in there too. Hobi leans over my shoulder, trying to see what it is, before he gasps. ‘You didn’t even use a condom?’ he exclaims, and Jimin shushes him, clapping a hand over his mouth. ‘Shut up, hyung! I don’t want the whole frat to think I don’t wrap it before I tap it,’ he says, the cringey phrase making me roll my eyes. ‘Why then?’ Tae asks. ‘The condom broke,’ I say. ‘Whose condom?’ Yoongi asks, and I sigh, my hopes that no one would ask shattered. ‘Pardon?’ Jimin asks, obviously confused. ‘Whose condom broke? Yours or Kook’s?’ he asks, the other boys only just realising. When we stay silent, they all gasp. ‘Oh, my god! So y/n could end up pregnant with Jimin’s baby, or Kook’s baby!’ Jin exclaims. ‘Jin! Shut up!’ I nearly scream, and he claps a hand over his mouth. ‘Sorry,’ he says, and I shake my head despairingly. ‘Come on, y/n,’ Jimin sighs, ‘come up to my room.’ ‘Really, Chim? Gonna try to beat after all of that?’ Jungkook teases as I get up from my seat, taking my plate and the pills with me. ‘Yeah, don’t get jealous,’ Jimin replies, taking the pills from me and holding my empty hand, leading me out of the room. ‘You have bruises on your knees, y/n!’ Tae calls after me, and I try not to laugh, looking down to see said bruises on my exposed knees. We go up to his room, passing a couple freshmen on the way who eye me wordlessly, probably wondering why their playboy hyung is wandering around the frat with a hungover messy-haired girl wearing nothing but a hoodie that reaches half way down her thighs and a pair of way-too-big socks.
‘You told the boys, princess?’ Jimin asks me as he shuts his bedroom door behind us. ‘Hmm, I couldn’t really lie, could I?’ I ask, and he nods, sprawling out across his bed. He looks so attractively adorable, dressed in a pair of slim fit black sweatpants and a loose-fitting grey jumper, white socks on his feet and his wavy hair parted, exposing his forehead. He pats the space beside him in the bed, and I sit down, crossing my legs and facing him. I rest my plate on his stomach, both of us breaking off pieces of the pancakes, dipping them in golden syrup and whipped cream before topping each piece off with a strawberry, eating it all in one bite. ‘What did they say?’ he asks. ‘They were just surprised that you’d kept it from them, and they asked if we were gonna carry on as we are,’ I say. ‘What did you say?’ he asks, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘I said I don’t know,’ I reply, and he narrows his eyes at me. ‘Why?’ ‘Because it’s the truth. Because I’m at a stage in my life where I want a boyfriend, where I want to settle down, and you don’t,’ I say. ‘No, I don’t want a boyfriend,’ he teases. ‘Don’t lie to me, I saw the way you were looking at Kook,’ I joke, and he chuckles. ‘It’s a shame, Y/N. You’re the best I’ve ever had, princess,’ he says, looking up at me. ‘And you for me,’ I reply, and he grins widely, making me roll my eyes. We fall into a comfortable silence, finishing the pancakes, and it’s only when he’s putting the plate on his bedside table that I speak.
‘What will you do if I’m pregnant?’ I ask, and he nearly chokes, coughing with surprise. ‘That reminds me,’ he says, pushing water and the pills into my hands. I roll my eyes, taking a pill, his eyes on me the entire time. ‘So?’ I ask. ‘What?’ he replies, confused. ‘What will you do if I’m pregnant?’ I repeat. ‘Oh. Well, I don’t know. Depends what you want me to do,’ he replies, and I roll my eyes. ‘Don’t try to tell me what I want to hear. I want the truth,’ I press on, and he sighs. ‘If you wanted an abortion, I’d come with you to get it. If you wanted to give the baby up for adoption, I’d help you through the pregnancy and then find suitable parents for our kid. If you wanted to keep the baby but didn’t want me in its life, then I’d pay child support and leave you alone. If you wanted to keep the baby and want me in its life, then I’d be the best dad to ever walk the earth,’ he says confidently, his words warming my heart. ‘Yeah, right. What makes you think that?’ I joke, and he gasps, clutching his heart. ‘I’d be fantastic. I’d take it to and from school, I’d make its lunches, I’d take it to any karate or dance classes or anything like that, I’d always be doing fun day trips, I’d sleep in its room when it has a nightmare, I’d make sure we go on family holidays and day trips and stuff so it can spend time with its mum and dad at the same time. I’d be a great dad,’ he says. ‘Okay, a) you need to stop calling our hypothetical child ‘it’, that’s terrible. And b) would you really do all of that?’ I ask, my heart melting, and he grins up at me, running a hand through his hair. ‘Of course, princess. If you wanted me to,’ he says. ‘Of course, I’d want you to. I wouldn’t want our kid growing up with only one parent when they could have two,’ I say. ‘Would you want a boy or a girl?’ he asks, and I think about that for a moment. ‘I don’t mind, really. I think I’d prefer a boy first, but I’d be happy with either. As long as they become my best friend,’ I say. ‘Hell no. Our kid’s gonna be a daddy’s girl or boy,’ he says, and I scowl. ‘No! I’m the one that has to carry our kid for nine months, so they’re gonna be a momma’s girl or boy,’ I say, and he frowns at me. ‘Okay, fine, we can be equal,’ he says, and I nod, conceding.
‘What about names? I ask. ‘Park Aro for a girl, Park Taemin for a boy,’ he says, and I gasp. ‘What about my surname? Why Park?’ I ask. ‘It can be hyphenated if you want,’ he gives in, and I shake my head, ‘No, Park’s better than my surname anyway.’ He shakes his head at me, trying not to laugh. ‘What about you? What names do you like?’ he asks. ‘Park Hiroo or Park Kai for a boy, and Park Jisoo or Park Mila for a girl,’ I say. ‘Park Kai? That sounds so dumb,’ he says, and I pout, ‘I like Kai.’ ‘No way, we’re not calling our son Park Kai.’ ‘Well, I’m not accepting Park Aro either.’ ‘Good thing I like your girls’ names,’ he says, and I grin. ‘I like Taemin as well,’ I admit, and he laughs. ‘So our kids are gonna be called Park Taemin, Park Jisoo and Park Mila?’ he says, and I nod. ‘Shouldn’t we have another boy to even up the numbers?’ I suggest. ‘Yeah, I guess. We could call him Park Jimin Jr,’ he suggests. ‘Hell no. We’re not calling our kid Jimin Jr. Are you insane?’ I say, and he laughs. ‘What then?’ he asks, both of us falling into a thoughtful silence. ‘What about Minjoon?’ I suggest. ‘Park Minjoon? Yeah, that sounds good,’ he says, agreeing. ‘So, Park Taemin, Park Jisoo, Park Minjoon and Park Mila?’ I say, and he nods.
‘Aww, our little family is so cute already, princess,’ he says, and I laugh. ‘They’ll get the cute genes from you,’ I say, and he raises an eyebrow. ‘You’re cuter than me,’ he says, and I give him a ‘really’ look. ‘You are! Look at you right now! The cutest girl in the world. Wearing my hoodie with your curled hair and your fresh face. You’re adorable,’ he says, and I try not to blush. ‘Shut up, Park, you know you’re the adorable one. Your eye smile is the cutest thing known to man and that’s a fact, end of. I hope our kids inherit your eye smile,’ I say, and he shakes his head. ‘It’s a safety risk. You’re so funny that they’ll always be laughing so they won’t be able to see where they’re going and they’ll get injured,’ he says, and I try not to laugh. ‘Well, you’re so caring so you’ll always be on hand to cheer them up and look after them after they do,’ I say, and he laughs. ‘Well, you’re so clever so you’ll know exactly how to treat their wounds. I hope they get your clever genes,’ he says, both of us trying to one up each other, and I scoff. ‘You mean your clever genes, Mr. Class-President-For-Nine-Years-Straight,’ I say, and he bursts out laughing. ‘I hope they inherit your sass. They’ll keep everyone entertained. The boys will love our kids,’ he says thoughtfully. ‘The boys aren’t going anywhere near our kids. Bad influences. I don’t want our kids being able to do keg stands before they can even walk,’ I say, both of us laughing now.
‘Imagine our kids running around the frat,’ he says, and my eyes widen. ‘No way! Imagine the germs,’ I laugh. ‘Joon would adore Taemin, because he’s so gonna be the clever one. Hobi would dote on Jisoo, because her sass will keep him on his toes. Kook and Minjoon are gonna be the worst duo ever, because Minjoon’s gonna be so mischievous and naughty. Yoongi will absolutely adore Mila because she’s the cute little baby of the family and Yoongi’s just soft. Jin’s gonna try and teach them all life lessons but just end up teaching them how to end someone’s life with a few disses, and Tae and Mija are gonna be the cool aunt and uncle that’ll buy them whatever they want whenever they want it,’ Jimin says, his soothingly smooth voice spinning an entire fantasy world for me to live in. And then we both seem to realise what we’re doing, falling silent, eyes trained on each other. Jimin moves so he’s lying between my legs, my upper back against the headboard, his chin resting on my stomach. ‘Can you actually imagine if our baby starts to develop and grow in here?’ he murmurs gently, his hands on my stomach. ‘We’d make great co-parents, as long as you don’t have loads of girls over all the time,’ I reply, and he laughs gently. ‘If we were co-parents, I wouldn’t have time for girls. You’d be the only girl in my life,’ he says, and I smile softly. ‘And our maybe-daughter,’ I say. ‘It might be Kook’s, though,’ he says, and I sigh. ‘If I did end up pregnant, I’d want it to be yours,’ I admit. ‘Well, even if it was Kook’s, I don’t think he’d want to father it, so I’d step in,’ he says, and my mouth drops open. ‘You’d father mine and Kook’s kid if he didn’t want to?’ I ask, and he shrugs with a small smile. ‘I guess. It’s easy for me to say, but it’s all hypothetical, isn’t it? Neither of us actually believe you’re gonna get pregnant, and I think things would be a lot different than we’ve planned if you did, right?’ he says, and I nod in agreement, knowing it won’t be as simple as we’ve made it sound.
‘All this baby talk has actually given me baby fever,’ I say, and he laughs, his chin still resting on my stomach. ‘God, imagine if you actually did end up pregnant, princess,’ he says again, hands resting on my stomach. ‘It’d be insane. I don’t know if I’d keep it,’ I say honestly, not sure if I’m ready to provide for a kid. ‘Well, I’ll support you no matter what decision you make, you know that, right?’ he says, looking down at my stomach, and I nod, running my hands through his hair, letting the silky locks slip between my fingers. ‘We’d make a great parental unit. Can you just imagine it? Us two as a mum and dad? We’d be great,’ he says softly. ‘Yeah, but we won’t be together. We’ll just be co-parents,’ I say gently. ‘You know what we’re like, though. We end up behaving like we’re in a relationship every time we’re together anyway. I bet our kid would just think we’re together,’ he says, and I laugh, a small smile on his face as I play with his locks. ‘Are you gonna keep taking the pill now?’ he asks, and I shake my head. ‘If I do end up pregnant, taking the pill will be really bad for the embryo-slash-baby,’ I say. ‘When are you next due on your period?’ he asks, and I think for a moment. ‘What’s the date?’ ‘It’s the 18th.’ ‘Ah. I’m due tomorrow,’ I say, and Jimin’s eyes widen. ‘I guess we’ll know pretty soon then,’ he says, and I try to supress a laugh.
We both fall into a comfortable silence, Jimin’s eyes closed as he rests his face on my stomach, my hands messing with his soft hair. His hands, resting on my stomach, are adorned in different rings, as always, and I take the chance to have a proper look at them. They’re all silver, four on his right hand and two on the other. ‘I like your rings,’ I say softly, and he opens his eyes, looking up at me. ‘Which ones your favourite?’ he asks, looking up at me. ‘Uhm… this one,’ I say, tapping the one on his right little finger. It’s quite thin and looks like vines intertwined with one another, like pretty flowers. ‘Here,’ he says, taking it off and taking my hand in his. ‘This is a promise ring, okay? It signifies my promise that no matter what you decide to do with this hypothetical baby, I will support you and stand by you no matter what,’ he says, and I nod with a small smile, touched at the gesture. He slips it onto my left little finger, but it’s too loose. So he tries it on my left middle finger, but it’s too tight. So he slips it onto my left ring finger, and it fits perfectly. ‘Wait, is this your wedding ring finger?’ he asks, and I nod guardedly. ‘Do you want to put it on your other hand instead?’ he asks, before spotting the ring I already have on that finger. ‘I guess it’s just gonna have to stay here,’ I say, and he smiles. ‘What are you gonna say if people ask?’ he asks me. ‘I don’t know. I’ll just say Mija got it me,’ I say, and he frowns. ‘No, say it’s from me. Just say it was a birthday present, or something,’ he says, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘Jimin, you do know that people don’t know we know each other?’ I say, and he shrugs. ‘Well, now they will,’ he says.
We fall silent again, just enjoying each other’s company, and all I can think is that I’m making a huge mistake. Discussing children, a family, a future with Jimin is not a good idea. He’s made it clear that we have no future, at least not like that. But then he’s just sat with me and named our hypothetical/future kids! He’s so confusing. I just can’t understand him. One minute, he’s saying that he doesn’t want a relationship, and then he’s talking about our future family and giving me a promise ring! No wonder I’m falling for him so hard. He has a way with words, that everything he says just sounds like the truth. He can make you believe anything, and at the moment, he has me believing we have a future. Knowing him, if I do end up pregnant, he’ll run a mile and abandon me. There was a rumour he did that to another girl last year, and I won’t be surprised if it’s true. I decide mentally that after this whole pregnancy thing is over, he is going to be out of my life again.
‘D’you want to do something?’ he asks after a few minutes, looking up at me. ‘Like what?’ I ask suspiciously, and he sighs. ‘Not sex,’ he huffs, and I laugh. ‘Unless you want to, that is,’ he says with a mischievous smile, and I give his head a light slap. ‘I’m kidding, I’m kidding,’ he laughs, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘You’re not, though,’ I say, and he chuckles. ‘Okay, so sex is out of the question. How about we… watch a film or something?’ he asks. ‘Where? In the living room?’ I ask. ‘No, like at the cinema,’ he says, and I nearly choke. ‘Seriously? You want to go to the cinema? Isn’t that like the most relationship-y thing ever?’ I ask, and he laughs. ‘Fine, fine. We could watch something on my laptop,’ he suggests. ‘Remember last time we tried to watch something together on your laptop? We spent an hour looking for something and then ended up having sex,’ I remind him, and he grins at me. ‘I’m down for that,’ he says, and I swat out at him. ‘We could go get food?’ he suggests, and I contemplate this. ‘In a restaurant? Or get takeout and bring it back?’ I ask. ‘Either, up to you,’ he says. ‘I’d rather order food. I’m so gross, I don’t want to leave the house. Oh, actually, that’s it! I need to have a shower,’ I say, and Jimin raises an eyebrow. ‘Are you kidding me? I ask if you want to do something and you decide you want to have a shower?’ he asks, and I nod, stifling a laugh at his mildly incredulous tone. ‘Yeah, we had a threesome last night, which was so sweaty and sticky, so I definitely need to shower,’ I reply, and it’s almost like I can see the idea appearing in his mind, his eyes beginning to sparkle mischievously. ‘Yeah, okay, I’ll order the food now, and it’ll be here by the time we’re done,’ he says, trying not to smile. ‘By the time we’re done?’ I ask, with a raised eyebrow. ‘Yeah, by the time we’re done showering,’ he says, smirking. ‘Who says we’re showering together?’ I ask. ‘We should save water. Help save the planet. You know, for our Taemin, Jisoo, Minjoon and Mila,’ he says. ‘Don’t bring up our children whilst you’re trying to persuade me to have shower sex with you,’ I groan, and he chuckles. ‘I never mentioned sex, but if you’re down…?’ he says, and I sigh.
I think of the last (and only) time we had shower sex. I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty amazing, and so my final decision is influenced by that memory. ‘Fine,’ I sigh, and his eyes widen. ‘Wait, really?’ he asks, and I nod, a small smile stretching my lips. He jumps up from the bed, pulling me up after him. He presses his lips to mine, one arm wrapped around my waist and the other around my back. His lips move against mine, my mind becoming more numb by the second as one of my hands rests on his cheek, the other tangling into the hair on the back of his head. He backs us up into the bathroom, our lips still attached, tongues and teeth clashing, as he kicks the door open. We break apart from a moment, hastily slipping off our clothes, waiting until we’re both in our underwear until our arms come around each other again. He backs me up against the door, leaning down to press his lips against mine, and I thread my hands into his hair, the silky locks sliding between my fingers. I tug one of his lips between my teeth and he groans, the noise going straight to my core. Only Jimin can have me like this.
‘Get in,’ he says breathlessly, pulling away from me, and I shrug off my underwear and climb into the shower, Jimin rummaging through the cupboard under the sink before pulling out a condom, putting it up on the shower shelf. He pushes off his boxers, climbing into the shower beside me and shutting the door behind him as I turn the dial, the water beginning to pour down over our heads. He turns me to him again, pressing his body up against mine, brushing his plump lips against mine. He backs me up so my back is pressed against the wall, my head tilted back so our lips remain connected. I run my hands through his now sopping wet hair, one of his hands pressed firmly against my waist, the other resting on the side of my face. His plump lips encase mine, the feeling of his mouth on mine euphoric. I could kiss Jimin for days, not even have sex but just kiss him, and never get bored. ‘Do you need foreplay?’ Jimin asks against my mouth before his hand travels to between my legs. I spread my legs slightly, so he has better access as he runs one vascular finger across my slit, making me shiver. ‘I guess that’s a no,’ he chuckles after pulling away. ‘How do you want me?’ I ask him, and he contemplates this for a moment. ‘I want to take you from behind,’ he replies with a grin, and a shiver runs down my spine at his words. I turn around and he places a hand between my shoulder blades, pushing my back down, the water hitting the small of my back. I press my hands against the shower tiles to steady myself as he pushes one finger into me. I let out a quiet gasp, knowing I can’t be too loud because of all the other boys in the house. ‘So wet, princess,’ he murmurs through the noise of the water, pushing in another finger and twisting them around inside me. ‘Please, daddy,’ I whimper, and he chuckles. ‘Anything for you, baby girl,’ he says before his fingers disappear, the crackling of foil an indication of what’s to come. Only a few moments later, his hard length plunges all the way into me.
My head falls forwards, a moan escaping through my lips at the feeling, Jimin groaning behind me. ‘Tell me when you’re ready,’ Jimin says and I take a few deep breaths. ‘Ready,’ I reply and he begins to move in and out of me slowly, the water running down my back making it easier for him. He begins to pick up the pace, his breathing getting louder and deeper, whimpers and moans falling from my mouth every few seconds. After a short while, his fingers appear at my clit, applying slow pressure, and I know it’s so that he doesn’t cum before me. I let out a louder moan of his name, and he groans at the sound. ‘Louder, princess,’ he growls through gritted teeth. ‘But the boys, daddy,’ I reply and a hand lands on my ass, the slap resounding around the en suite. ‘If I tell you something, princess, I expect you to do it. Louder,’ he says, one hand maintaining its ministrations at my clit as the other gathers my hair into its grasp, pulling my head back. He thrusts into me particularly hard, my legs shaking at the feeling, and I let out a loud moan of his name. His fingers speed up at my clit, his hips snapping against mine repeatedly, his balls slapping against my ass. ‘Fuck, Jimin, yes, feels so good,’ I moan out, spurring him on. ‘y/n, stop fucking clenching, I’m gonna fucking cum,’ he groans, thrusts faltering slightly, his fingers rubbing at my clit furiously fast. I feel myself hurtling towards my high, my legs beginning to shake, and Jimin realises this, the hand around my hair snaking around my shoulder instead, pulling my body up towards his so he holds me up instead, the water hitting my stomach now. The new position means he’s going even deeper into me, his head grazing against the spongy spot deep inside me, having his name falling from my mouth repeatedly. ‘Shit, Jimin, I’m gonna cum,’ I moan, and he chuckles into my ear. ‘Not until I tell you to,’ he growls, and I nearly whine aloud, knowing he’ll make me hold on as long as possible. His fingers move impossibly fast at my bundle of nerves, his length still thrusting in and out of me at a furious pace, the combination of sensations having me right on the edge. ‘Please, Jimin, please, I need to cum,’ I moan. ‘Beg, princess,’ he demands, not letting up on me at all. ‘Jimin, please let me cum, your cock feels so good inside me, I need to cum, daddy, please,’ I whine, not even thinking about the words before they fall from my mouth. ‘Cum for me, princess,’ he whispers into my ear, and I know he only does so because he’s close too. My orgasm washes over me as I scream out his name, my body shaking as I come down from my high, just as Jimin reaches his own with a loud moan of my name. He holds me in place, thrusting into me as he cums, only stopping once he’s done.
We stay as we are for a couple minutes, the water falling down onto us as we take deep breaths, regaining our strength. He pulls out of me, the feeling of emptiness making me shiver as he opens the shower door, throwing the used condom into the bin beside the sink. He shuts the door again, smiling at me. ‘You’re so good, princess,’ he praises, pressing his lips to mine briefly before turning to get the shampoo from the shower shelf. I realise he has my favourite shampoo and conditioner, and I look at him in confusion as he turns back towards me. ‘What?’ he asks innocently, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘Okay, so maybe I’ve kept these since the last time you showered here,’ he says, and I laugh. We’ve only had shower sex once, but I used to shower here quite regularly, buying myself two lots of shampoo and conditioner when I went shopping; one lot for my apartment, and one lot for here. ‘Will it not have gone off by now?’ I ask, scrunching my nose, and he inspects the label. ‘It’s good for another… nine months,’ he says, and I nod, impressed it’s lasted that long. He squirts some of the shampoo into his hand, a lot more than recommended on the bottle, and then looks up at me expectantly. ‘Turn around then,’ he prompts, and I do so. His hands appear at the back of my head and he begins to massage the shampoo into my locks. The pads of his fingers against my scalp feel even better, dare I say even better than the sex we just had, and my eyes flutter closed, my head falling back so he can access the top of my head better. ‘Am I doing it right, princess? Or do you have to do it a certain way?’ he asks, breaking me out of my euphoric reverie. ‘No, you’re doing it right. I’ll do yours after,’ I say, and he chuckles lightly. ‘Okay,’ he replies, and I can hear the smile in his words.
Once he’s done with mine, I do his as I said I would before we wash it out, me going first. As he rinses his out, I shampoo mine again. We fall into a pattern, me rinsing out my second lot as he shampoos his hair again. I condition mine whilst he rinses, and lather up my body as he conditions. I rinse off my body as he lathers his up, washing his off as I lather up again. We take turns under the water, switching places wordlessly, the only noise being the running of the water, the sound of our hands and the occasional word. I begin to wash off my body for the second time as he lathers up again, joining me under the water as I rinse the conditioner from my hair. We stay under the water together for a while this time, Jimin pressing his lips against mine, and we only break apart when the water begins to turn cold. Jimin gets out first to pass me a towel from the cupboard under the sink before wrapping one around himself. I admire him as he does so, the fluffy white towel slung low on his hips, his hair pasted down to his face, droplets of water adorning his perfect body. He grins when he notices what I’m doing, puffing out his chest in a pose, and I roll my eyes, unable to keep the small smile from my face as I wrap my towel around myself. I step out of the shower, leaning over the sink to wring out my hair so it doesn’t drip everywhere, as Jimin heads into the bedroom. ‘Shit, Jimin, I don’t have any clothes. Not even any underwear!’ I exclaim, following him into the bedroom where he’s holding a bag of his out to me. I take it from him, opening it to find a load of my clothes. ‘Oh, my god, Jimin! You kept these?’ I ask, and he nods proudly, obviously misreading my emotions. I hit him with the bag, and he yelps, jumping away from me hastily. ‘What was that for?’ he asks reproachfully, pouting adorably at me. ‘So you didn’t think to bring any of this to me?’ I ask, emptying it out over the bed.
It’s mostly underwear, expensive lingerie that I thought I’d lost, but there’s some other stuff in there too; a pair of jeans, some leggings, a hoodie, a couple tops, a leather jacket and a super cute sexy dressing gown I’d worn on Jimin’s birthday as a treat for him. ‘I didn’t think,’ he admits, and I shaky my head. ‘I washed it all for you, though,’ he says, and I try so hard not to smile at the thought of him washing my clothes in secret, not wanting the boys to catch him. I turn to look at him, looking so adorable, and I sigh in defeat. ‘Thank you, Jimin,’ I say, and he smiles widely, his eyes disappearing. I pick a pair of black pants and bra, pulling them onto my damp body. ‘God, you look so good,’ Jimin says, now wearing just a pair of black boxers. ‘Says you,’ I say, pressing brief kiss to his cheek. ‘Have you got any deodorant I could use? Like an unscented one, or something?’ I ask, and he grins, disappearing into the bathroom. He appears a moment later with the brand of deodorant I’ve used for years. I laugh as I take it from him, applying it under my arms, when someone knocks at the door. ‘Who is it?’ Jimin calls as I shrug on the dressing gown. It’s black and sheer with fur around the sleeves and bottom hem which reaches mid-thigh. ‘Jungkook!’ the younger boy shouts from the other side of the door and Jimin looks at me, the question on his face. ‘Come in!’ I call, knowing he saw me stark naked yesterday, so this sexy dressing gown is nothing. The boy steps in tentatively, eyes falling first on Jimin, and then me.
‘Did you guys just have shower sex?’ Jungkook asks, shutting the door behind him and settling himself onto Jimin’s bed, on top of my clothes. I tut quietly and he grins at me, not moving. ‘Yes, we did,’ Jimin replies with a smile. ‘Thought so. The whole damn frat could hear,’ he says, chewing on the gum in his mouth. ‘Why ask then?’ I ask. ‘Thought I’d see if you’d lie,’ he replies, offering me some gum which I accept with a small smile. ‘Jimin, where’s your hairdryer?’ I ask. ‘Top drawer,’ he says, pointing to the chest of drawer pushed against one wall, a big mirror sat atop it. I take out the hairdryer, plugging it into a socket as Jimin and Jungkook speak about something I’m not paying attention to as I’ve zoned out. ‘What’d you think, y/n?’ Jimin asks me, and I turn to look over at them. ‘Sorry, what? I wasn’t paying attention,’ I say. ‘Party down at Kappa Phi Nu tonight?’ he asks, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘Kappa Phi Nu?’ I ask, for two different reasons. First being that Kappa Phi Nu are Jimin’s frat, Alpha Sigma Phi’s, rivals and second being that my ex, Eunwoo, is part of Kappa Phi Nu. ‘Okay, I know they’re our rivals which is an even better reason to go. We’ll show up super late and then make it way more fun so everyone knows that we’re the better frat. They’re always too pussy to come to our parties, so we’ll show them who’s boss. Steal their drugs, their alcohol and their girls,’ Jungkook says. ‘Don’t objectify girls,’ I say absentmindedly, thinking about Eunwoo. ‘That’s not the reason why she doesn’t wanna go, Kook,’ Jimin says before walking towards me, tapping my chin so I look up at him.
‘Listen, y/n, we don’t have to go if you don’t want to, but I think it’ll be good for you to see him again, not as a couple like the last time you saw him. And you’re the one who broke up with him, remember, so you can’t act all heartbroken over him,’ Jimin reminds me gently, not a single ounce of venom in his voice. ‘It’s not that. It’s just… it’s been so long since I saw him, and I feel bad. I saw him, about a year ago, and he tried to get back with me, Jimin. I don’t want to have to go through rejecting him again,’ I say, and he nods thoughtfully. ‘If you’re with me, he won’t try,’ Jimin says. ‘We’re not dating, though. We’re friends,’ I say, Jungkook snorting at my words. ‘He doesn’t need to know that. If he thinks we’re together, he won’t try anything,’ Jimin says, and I think over his words for a minute. ‘I don’t have any clothes,’ I say, and he tilts his head questioningly, motioning over to the bed with a raised eyebrow. ‘My makeup’s at the dorm,’ I say weakly, and he sighs. ‘You don’t need it but if you wanna wear some that bad, call Mija and get her to bring you some. The two of you can get ready together in here,’ Jimin says, purposely making it so that there is nothing I can blame saying no on. ‘Fine,’ I give in, and he grins widely, Kook cheering from the bed as Jimin presses a quick kiss to my lips. ‘You taste like mint,’ he observes, moving away from me to find something from his wardrobe.
‘Wait, Jimin, where’s my phone?’ I ask, and he motions to the clutch sat on the bedside table. Jungkook reaches out, throwing it to me, and I catch it deftly, pulling out my phone and leaving the bag on top of the chest of drawers. I’ve had several missed calls and texts from Mija and I curse inwardly as I dial her number, knowing I’m in for it now. ‘So you aren’t dead then?’ she says coldly when she answers the phone. ‘No, babe, I’m not, and I’m sorry. I only woke up like an hour ago,’ I say, and she tuts. ‘You’re still at the frat?’ she asks. ‘Yeah, I am, and I’m safe,’ I say, Jimin and Jungkook watching me in amusement. ‘What happened last night? I assumed you’d gone upstairs with Jimin and that you’d stay the night, but it’s now 3pm. I thought you’d be home by now,’ she says. ‘I know, I know. But Jin made me food and then I had a shower and now I’ve only just remembered to call you,’ I say. ‘Well, when are you coming back?’ she asks. ‘I was actually thinking you should come here,’ I begin, and she laughs. ‘What for?’ she asks. ‘The KPN boys are having a party tonight and we’re going and you should come,’ I say, and she stays silent for a minute. ‘So why would I come to you now then?’ she asks. ‘Because their frat is within walking distance of here so if you bring your stuff, we can sleep over here tonight instead of paying for a taxi home or one of us having to drive. And if you come over now, Jimin said we can use his room to get ready together. You just have to bring our makeup and stuff with you,’ I say, and she sighs. ‘Do all the boys know about you and Jimin now?’ she asks. ‘Yeah, they do.’ ‘So you’re just gonna end up spending the night with him, right? What about me? And that’s Eunwoo’s frat, right? This is just a recipe for disaster.’ ‘No, Mija, I would never ditch you for Jimin,’ I say, Jimin pretending to be hurt in front of me. ‘I know, but I don’t want to stop you two spending time together,’ she says. ‘No, you’re my girl, and I enjoy spending time with you, just as much as with Jimin. Even more, to be honest,’ I say, Jungkook bursting into laughter and Jimin hitting him with a pillow, the two of them beginning to fight. ‘And, anyway, you and Tae are good friends, right? You can chill with him for a bit too,’ I say. ‘We do the same course. Does not mean we’re friends,’ she says, and I sigh. ‘Well, regardless. And Eunwoo doesn’t matter. I’m not gonna even look at him all night and if he comes to speak to me, I’ll leave,’ I say, and she sighs. ‘Fine. I’ll be there in twenty,’ she says. ‘Wait, wait. Can you bring food?’ I ask, and she sighs again. ‘Make that forty.’

‘God, who knew you two were so domestic?’ Mija’s sarcastic voice comes from the door. ‘Mija. It’s been a while,’ Jimin says with a grin, holding out a fist which Mija bumps her own against. ‘Where’s the food?’ I ask her, sat on the floor in front of Jimin who sits on the bed, brushing through my now dry hair, the mirror set up on the floor in front of me, leaning against the wall. ‘Here,’ she says, thrusting out a pizza box to me. I take a bite of the first slice, holding it up above my head for Jimin to take a bite, Mija watching us amusedly. ‘Right, when are we going to this party?’ she asks. ‘Not until around 8.30ish,’ Jimin says. ‘You’re kidding? Four and a half hours?’ she asks, Jimin nodding with a small smile. ‘The boys are just about to start watching Me Before You downstairs so bye,’ she says, disappearing out of the room, leaving a big bag lying on Jimin’s bed. ‘Does she hate me?’ Jimin asks, and I laugh. ‘No, of course not. She’s the one who told me to text you on Thursday night,’ I say, and he raises an eyebrow. ‘Mija can just come across as… I don’t know, hostile? Mean? But honestly, she’s a good person with a good heart. And she likes you,’ I say, and he nods. ‘Can I ask you something?’ I say after a few moments of silence, Jimin nodding, watching me in the mirror. ‘Do you guys not get along with the other boys in the frat?’ I ask. ‘No, we do. They’re great boys, but we’re all kind of… split up into groups, I guess? All the other boys kind of stick together based on their ages, but us seven just get along. We’re the only group that aren’t age-based, because our relationships stretch beyond that. But, yeah, the other boys are great. We just aren’t as close to them,’ he explains, and I nod. ‘I just wondered. It’s always seemed like everyone’s divided, but I get it now,’ I say.
Over the course of the next couple hours, Jimin and I get ready, taking our time. We sing along to my playlist which plays gently in the background, Jimin doing his hair as I iron a white shirt for him and a black bodysuit of mine, creased after being crumpled up in Jimin’s bag for god knows how long. I begin doing my makeup as Jimin styles his hair, taking ridiculously long. We’re both in and out of the bedroom and the bathroom, repeatedly bumping into each other, getting cuddles and kisses from him each time. It gets to around 6.30 and Jimin’s ready, his white shirt tucked into a pair of black ripped jeans, a silver bomber jacket over the top, black brogues on his feet. His dirty blond hair is swept back, exposing his forehead, silver earrings in his ears and silver rings on his fingers. He’s laid out on his bed, scrolling through his phone, as I make the last few finishing touches to my makeup, misting the setting spray over my face. I’ve paired black jeans and black heels with my bodysuit, my makeup light and natural, only a pair of silver hoops in my ears and Jimin’s silver ring on my ring finger, my own rose gold ring on the other. ‘You look great, princess,’ Jimin praises, eyes raking over me. ‘I feel like something’s missing,’ I sigh, frowning at myself in the mirror. Someone knocks at the door then and I cross over to open it, letting Namjoon in. ‘Hey, hyung,’ Jimin smiles at the older boy. ‘Hey, Chim. You guys both look nice,’ Namjoon says. ‘I don’t know, Joon, I feel like I’m missing something,’ I say, and he inspects my appearance thoughtfully. ‘Ah, I’ve got it!’ he exclaims, darting from the room excitedly, a few banging noises audible from his room down the hall before he reappears, something silver and sparkling in his hand. ‘Here,’ he says, holding it up to my neck, and I let him clasp it on, before he turns me towards the mirror. A thick silver choker sits at my neck, looking like genuine diamonds, and I remember when Namjoon wore it, looking more beautiful than ever. ‘Ah, Joon, I love it!’ I exclaim happily, turning to hug the boy, Jimin watching us with a smile. ‘Keep it, it looks nice on you,’ he says, and I raise an eyebrow. ‘As beautiful as it is, hell no. It looked way better on you,’ I insist, and he laughs.
‘Anyway, I came up to ask if you guys want food. We ordered Panda Express,’ Namjoon says. ‘There won’t be any left if Tae’s had his hands on it,’ Jimin says. ‘And Mija, she’s crazy for it,’ I say, Namjoon grinning. ‘It hasn’t arrived yet, and we haven’t told them. They’re in Tae’s room,’ Namjoon says. At his words, Jimin sits up instantly, our eyes meeting, wide with shock. ‘They’re in Tae’s room? Just them two?’ Jimin asks. ‘No, I think Kook’s with them,’ Namjoon says, and Jimin rolls his eyes. ‘God, he’s such a third wheel,’ I mutter. ‘We’ll be down in a minute, hyung,’ Jimin says, Namjoon nodding before leaving. ‘You look so good,’ Jimin says, climbing off the bed and walking over to me. ‘Says you,’ I reply, hooking my arms around his neck. ‘No, you look better than me. Silver’s definitely your colour,’ he says, arms sliding around my waist. ‘No, it’s yours,’ I reply, tapping his jacket. ‘Aww, we’re matching,’ he says with a grin, and I roll my eyes. ‘God, we’re gonna look like such a sickly couple. Eunwoo can’t even make any mistakes as to whether or not we’re together,’ I say, Jimin laughing. ‘The worst thing is, we’re not even together and we play the couple better than real couples,’ he says, having me nodding in agreement.
‘I can’t wait to take this off you tonight,’ I say, a hand on his jacket over his chest. ‘Yeah? Tell me more, babe,’ he says, voice low, looking down at me. ‘When we’re walking back and I’m cold, I’ll take this off you and wear it myself,’ I say, trying to hold back my laughter. ‘That’s not what I meant!’ he exclaims indignantly as I burst into laughter, running away from him and out of the room. ‘Don’t run away!’ he shouts behind me, running after me. I sprint down the stairs, trying not to fall in my heels, Jimin thundering along behind me. I burst into the kitchen where the other boys sit and stand around, Jimin hot on my heels. He grabs me as I try to duck behind Hobi, tickling me. I burst into fits of giggles as his fingers work at my sides, my eyes clamped shut, my hands fruitlessly trying to push him away. ‘Stop, stop, I’m sorry,’ I breathe out through my laughter, Jimin finally letting up with a grin on his face, both of us panting. ‘Hello to you too,’ Yoongi says dryly, not taking his eyes off his phone. ‘You two are so annoyingly cute,’ Jin says with a roll of his eyes. ‘Um, thanks?’ Jimin says as I jump up onto the island, legs swinging. ‘You look nice, y/n,’ Hobi says, and I grin at him as Jimin takes the seat beside my legs. ‘Thank you. You guys all look nice too,’ I smile as I take Jimin’s hand in mine, fingers playing with his cold rings. They’re all dressed in flattering outfits, jeans or trousers with smart tops and nice jackets, pretty jewellery and shoes to match. ‘Wait, y/n, is that… is that Jimin’s ring?’ Namjoon asks, eyeing the ring on my finger. I look at Jimin expectantly, waiting for him to answer the question, but he just grins back at me, leaving it to me. ‘Uh, yeah, it is,’ I say, the boys all staring at us in silence. ‘And you two aren’t dating?’ Jin asks sceptically, both of us shaking our heads. ‘Right, okay,’ he replies, shaking his head despairingly.
The doorbell rings then, Hobi running out of the room to answer the door. ‘How can you guys afford all this stuff? The house and the parties and the clothes and the shoes and the food and the hair dye,’ I say, the boys laughing. ‘Jin’s dad owns this house so we don’t have to pay rent, and we all have ‘jobs’ at Jin’s dad’s company so that’s where we get our money from,’ Yoongi explains, putting quote marks with his fingers around the word jobs. ‘It’s not like that,’ Jin sighs, Namjoon raising an eyebrow. ‘What is it like then?’ ‘Yeah, he owns the house, but we still pay rent to him,’ Jin begins, Jimin interrupting. ‘We don’t. The other boys do,’ he says, my eyes widening. ‘No, it’s just because we have jobs with him that we don’t have to pay rent,’ Jin explains. ‘What are your jobs?’ I ask as Hobi walks back in, hands full of Panda Express bags. ‘One day a week, we have to drive up to Head Office, about fifteen minutes from here, and do any deliveries they need doing,’ Jin says. ‘So Jin hyung has Mondays, Yoongi hyung on Tuesdays, Hobi hyung on Wednesdays, me on Thursdays, Jiminie on Fridays, Taehyungie on Saturdays and Jungkookie on Sundays,’ Namjoon explains, my heart warming at hearing the nicknames he has for his dongsaengs. ‘So is it a lot of work?’ I ask as Jin begins unpackaging everything, dividing it up onto plates. ‘I don’t want much, hyung,’ Jimin says to him. ‘Nor me,’ I add. ‘We’ll just share,’ Jimin says, smiling up at me, before answering my question. ‘It’s not much work at all. There’s usually about three deliveries a day, and Jin’s dad pays for our petrol, so it’s literally so fine,’ Jimin explains. ‘Is it well paid?’ I ask, the boys laughing. ‘Very well paid,’ Namjoon replies, and I smile at the thought of Jin’s dad looking after them all so well.
‘Shall I text Jungkook? Tell them to come down?’ I ask, Jin nodding as he hands out our plates. I text Jungkook, hearing them all running down the stairs mere seconds later. Mija’s dressed in a black bodysuit with a grey leather skirt, a pair of heeled ankle boots on her feet and her makeup natural like mine. Jungkook and Tae look smart too, like the other boys, and I notice that Tae has on a grey bomber jacket, the same colour as Mija’s skirt. Jimin seems to notice too, the two of us exchanging a little glance. I scoop some food up onto a fork and go to put it in my mouth when Jimin opens his cheekily, wanting me to feed him. I roll my eyes before feeding him, and that’s how we eat; me taking a bite before feeding the next one to Jimin. ‘You two are so gross,’ Mija says, looking at us. ‘They’re like so domestic. It’s super weird,’ Jungkook agrees. ‘I think it’s cute,’ Hobi says. ‘No, it’s weird,’ Yoongi says. ‘Oh, my god, leave us alone!’ Jimin exclaims in false hurt. ‘Yeah, get off our dicks,’ I add, feeding Jimin a bite. ‘When you get off his dick,’ Tae replies, and I roll my eyes, the others laughing. For the next hour and a half, we all just chill in the kitchen, laughing and joking together. Mija and Tae sit next to one another, awfully close, and Jimin and I exchange excited glances every time we see the two of them talking quietly or laughing together. Being with the boys in such a relaxed environment is nice, getting to know the sober versions of them and seeing their relationships with one another. But, of course, nothing good lasts forever. At 8.30, we decide we’re going to take shots every five minutes up to 9 when we’ll head down to the party, all of us getting more and more drunk with each one. ‘Right, bitches!’ Jin exclaims, ‘you ready to crash a party?’

Reviewing Brea's Stuff - BTS Soulmate AU (1/2)
PART 1/2 (Taehyung, Jungkook, Jimin)
Tumblr media
HI! \(OwO)/
I want to draw ya'll's attention to one of my friends: @jimin-jungshook-over-literalbae. She's a k-pop reaction/scenario/text writer, and not only have I missed her as a friend so much during my long hiatus, I've also missed her writing. Thankfully, there's a lot for me to catch up on! She asked me to give my opinions on her BTS AUs, and with her permission, I've turned my reviews it into a bit of advertising! If you wanna read the stuff I did, ya'll don't have to scroll super far to find it all. I'll be reviewing each AU from a Reader's Standing (silly, sometimes improper sentences; sO MUCH swearing; caps lock) and from a Critic's Standing (second reading; at least one paragraph). Let's get into this! >o<

Man, I can't relate with being abandoned at a club 'cause I don't drink, and there's no club in my town, but I love how Y/N is essentially abandoned, ha ha ha! Also, poor Y/N, the only person among their friends who hasn't found a soulmate yet and feels so damn lonely about it. :'(
'...soft masculine voice'—bless you, Brea, for describing this scum as feminine.
'It makes you want to scoff, honestly'—All right then, this Y/N is a bit of a bitch, when it comes to meeting strangers in a club. I like Y/N, already. :D
'...back hitting a wall'—Aw yeah, good going, Y/N. Cornering yourself, good shit.
Strong Tae is hot, like that whole wrist grabbing sequence, ooh.
'Excuse me, sir'—My inner Englishwoman accent has been summoned.
Bitter chocolate on Y/N's tongue?? Where did this come from, hm... HM... hm.
Oh wait this is the soulmate bit. NEATO, I LOVE CHOCOLATE!! Milk is cool too, I mean, I'm vegetarian. If you bring meat into any of these AUs I will riOT.
Internal screaming holy shit it's the gang they're here hi Jimin my baby TwT
Yas to fun dancing with the puppy that is Taehyung
'Your back is pressed against his chest and his hands rest on your hips'—AERUNAWERAWENURAWO cute yes thank you
More chocolate taste, mm, yes. *w*
Holding hands on way to friends = classic, love it.
scREAMING HE CALLED Y/N HIS SOULMATE YES BLESS THIS AU I mean I don't usually read them, but my friendo-burritos are special occasions, OK??
Physical manifestation?? All right, sure. I'm so confused about this because, as I just said, I don't read soulmate AUs.
Love how the flavour of chocolate changes, it's kind of romantic.
*Sees typo at second last paragraph for 'had' instead of 'hand' and holds breath* Save it, Grammar-Nazi alter-ego, it's just a typo.
Super cute paragraph though awoureraelr
'As though he's meant to stay there forever'—Is just too cute, oml.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT LAST PARAGRAPH AND THE LAST LINE OF Y/N MY HEEEEEEEEEEART GOD DAMN SO CUTE UUUUUUUUUUGH
It's over? ;w; It's over...
Taehyung AU (Critic's Standing):
I'll say this here so I don't have to repeat myself, but I don't tend to read Soulmate AUs because I honestly think they're a very basic and beginner's way to write fan fiction. But they're also a great way to practice, so no, I don't hate them, I just don't tend to read them. As you know, I've made an exception for my friend. The first paragraph set the atmosphere very well, and easily stated how Y/N was feeling about not having found their soulmate, yet, and how they're just forced to watch their friends, who already have. The creep insertion, while a common trope, was well executed—I especially approve of how Brea described the wrist grabbing and the little struggle Y/N had.
And then there's Taehyung to the rescue, and for a moment I forgot I was reading a soulmate AU, I was confused about why Y/N tasted chocolate for second. Like the subtle inclusion of Jungkook, Jimin and the other guys, and the dancing section where the taste of chocolate changes according to Taehyung's emotions was really neat. I also loved how Taehyung took Y/N home, and their little kissing moment was the cutest. Not the mention the killer one-liner Y/N delivered, at the end. This was a brief AU, but that's often a good idea, for these kinds of scenarios. If I could improve one thing about this, I would have done... nothing. I seriously can't find anything that I would change, in this. Great job, Brea!
Jungkook AU (Reader's Standing):
Ooh, a Big Bang concert!
OOH, bells to signal soulmate status, that's really cool! Also, cute stumble is best stumble.
'bunny teeth'—Yes, Jungkook is a bunny in disguise, I knew it. *w*
YouTuber Jungkook is a concept I would sell my soul to Satan to see IRL
Ey yo, Seungri! \(>w<)/ Feels like a real concert, lol
Oh boy, whispering...
Awwww group waving to Jungkook's camera, how nice. ;w;
OH BOY JUNGKOOK IS ESCORTED
Oml Jungkook must have been so embarrassed, standing on stage like that, as a mega-fan. Lucky dude.
Never mind, boy was hyped as hecc
Happy Jungkook is best Jungkook, that was so cute to read.
Ye boys and girls, let's go with Jungkook and see what happens next oml this is too cute aaa
iS THIS THE SAME BAR AS THE TAEHYUNG AU?!
Hi Jimin I love you ;w;
Riot for Jimin? Yes, very possible.
beLL RUNG AGAIN GOOD LORD
I approve of Y/N's choice of Daesung as their favourite member
Thank you Jimin for approving of Y/N's choice
Jungkook shooing because he's secretly a possessive puppy, cute
bELLS AGAIN
'pretty damning evidence'—This is suddenly a detective AU? Nice.
'princess'—Aaand now I'm trying not to squeal.
Good choice of bar over apartment there, Jungkook.
Clasped fingers are cute, yes, thank you
More bells, aaaaa
Soft kiss ;w; Ow my heart
Evolving bells? YES.
Seriously this was really cute, I loved it. I love everything Brea writes, tbh.
Maybe that's just a friendship thing, idk.
Jungkook AU (Critic's Standing):
When the story began at a Big Bang concert, I immediately started to recall every bop they ever made, and it made me so nostalgic and happy. Really nice concert vibe, felt pretty alive, for being described in one paragraph. The first occurrence of the bells stole my heart, I'm a winter fanatic and bells are such an iconic symbol of that season, so I really enjoyed finding out that the little soulmate signal for this AU was bells. Not to mention the little confused looks that Y/N and Jungkook gave to their surroundings before introducing themselves with yelling (because concert, makes total sense) was really nice. I also loved how Jungkook was a YouTuber, that's totally something he could be, if his life went a different direction.
Seungri noticed Jungkook, told the guys about him, and they all gave Jungkook's camera some love was neat, too. They got him onto the stage and Jungkook fulfilled his mega-fan dream of performing with the big boys, that was ultra sweet of them (and Brea, I guess). And the excited Jungkook after he returned to Y/N was so easy to picture, it was great. As I said in the Reader's Standing, is this the same bar Y/N in the Taehyung AU was taken to? It was nice to see Jimin again though, hee hee, and I really liked how Jimin and Jungkook talked about why Jimin wasn't with Taehyung—the struggles of being a famous idol, right?
Jungkook shooing away Jimin was also cute, and how Brea mentioned that Jungkook and Y/N just sat with a couple drinks and talked with a little buzz was nice. Jungkook's explanation of how he and Y/N are soulmates was a nice touch, I really can't get enough of picturing how those bells sound. Small kiss from Y/N to Jungkook was super sweet, and yes, YES, I would love it if those bells evolved into like, an entire little melody, ah. This one was somehow very relaxing to read, I enjoyed it.
Jungkook isn't even my bias wrecker and I want to punch him with a pillow for being so cute in this AU, dammit.
Jimin AU (Reader's Standing):
For some reason the picture of Jimin wouldn't load and I'm immediately a little sad because I don't get to see his pink hair and those amazingly adorable cheeks of his. Not to mention his gorgeous eyes and just AERNUOEWATO Jimin is great. ;w;
Y/N is legit me, but I'm reading hentai manga instead of an 'actual book'. Just kidding, I'd be reading Piers Anthony.
Cool cafe, would definitely go there.
But reading sometimes stresses me out, so... I just stick to Piers and other fantasy others who don't write about female leads, sorry, but I really fucking love men. >w<
Aw yes look at that, his pink hair is peeking through, I wish I could reach into this story and touch it, fuck
The Chim just keeps getting closer... and closer... God that's cute, it's so like him, I love that.
'marches his way right over to you'—AEUROOAEUNCOWEASNLU thank you Brea, I'm dying a little
Soft speaking is so cute, good Lord, bless this AU
I'm just excited to read this for a second time, I love Jimin so damn much, aaaa
Just reading with Jimin would be so nice, that one paragraph had such a quiet feeling to it, ah.
Oh no, he went back on tour </3
he'S BACK AND HE TAPPED Y/N'S HAND MY LORD
I would totally jump up and hug Jimin, sorry not sorry, that man needs so much love for being so cute and... A N D *heavy breathing*
Oh right Y/N does it anyway
Awww yes he hugs back ;w;
Ooh, familiar scent and a long hug, that's definitely romantic.
bOOK HANDING OVER INCEPTION. Thank you for that little nod, ah.
I would probably fit in his suitcase tbh I mean I'm 145cm and he's what, 165cm?? It would totally work out, guys.
fiNGERS ENTWINE SCREEEEEEE
Sneaky Jimin putting his number in Y/N's pocket. Wait he's also part of the pervert line, BREA ARE YOU SURE HE DIDN'T TAP Y/N'S ASS A LITTLE? Lol just kidding, but still, nice move, Jimin.
He smells like books, bless
NOT TO MENTION THE KISSES GOOD LORD
That note was so sweet holy shit
Good ending oh my God that was such a nice ending
Jimin AU (Critic's Standing):
How do I write a formal review, again? I loved the book cafe, that was such a natural place for this to happen. Y/N and Jimin meeting week after week, and Jimin inching closer and closer until he literally comes right up to Y/N and all I could think of was a fluffy puppy running, and it killed me. I really liked how Y/N and Jimin established a quiet relationship, that's like, friendship, and friendship is so nice. Then Jimin left and I felt a little empty with Y/N, and I'm just sitting here thinking about how easily you were able to make me relate to Y/N. He came back blond (I refuse to add the 'e' for a male; I'm Canadian, that's just how the French do things, nothing wrong with the more modern/American way >w<) and had to tap Y/N's hand to get their attention, and then there's that adorable hug that just warmed my heart.
Then there was a very well executed explanation of how Jimin knows he and Y/N are soulmates and how he slipped a note into their pocket when they hugged. And I'm completely serious when I say that I would love to just stuff myself into Jimin's suitcase, ha ha ha! The kisses were also a really nice touch, the note was very sweet, and again, Y/N's last say in this scenario as they gave in to temptation and texted Jimin was adorable. Jimin's explanation and the note really did it for me, heh. I enjoyed Jungkook's the most, out of these three, but this was also really relaxing to read.
OK, that's it, for the maknae line! Onto the hyung line. Thanks again for reading, everyone.

College!Bangtan
Movie night!
College!Bangtan 19/ ?
You were really excited, you bought way too many snacks, gathered up bunch of blankets, and even the cleaned the house for this. (Believe me in college there’s no such thing like a  clean apartment.)
The older boys were never too early, but never late. But considering the maknae line is always late with minimum an hour they were considered early.
Jin, Yoongi, Hoseok and Namjoon were on your doorstep at 7 sharp.
‘Hyung brought beer!’ Hobi noted while greeting you.
‘It’s not for you. I have to bear the night with the lovebirds somehow.’ he said while you were hugging Namjoon.
‘Why are you so mean?’ you chuckled. ‘Not like we’re gonna make out in front of you.’ you said, and when you finally got to greet Yoongi, he just looked at you with a doubting expression. ‘I swear!’ He still didn’t look convinced at all. ‘When did I break a promise?’
‘Hope you have a spare year it’s a long list.’ he said, while hugging you.
‘Oh my god Min Yoongi!’
The maknae line was so late, even Sungchul arrived earlier than them, but you even called him later.
‘Hey!’ he placed a kiss on your lips, when you opened the door for him.
‘You’re early.’ he looked confused.
‘You told me to come now.’ he chuckled.
‘I know. But 3 of them are late.’ you let him in. While he dressed down, you continued. ‘Chim, Tae and Kookie are always late for everything, but today especially.’
‘Maybe something came up?’
‘They would tell me.’ you were getting oddly nervous now that he was here too. You really liked him. He was a really nice person, who finally treated you like a human, not an object like your exes. He was always considerate, kind, and really funny. You really enjoyed his company.
You led Sungchul into the living room where the 4 boys were already getting comfy.
‘Hey guys!’ you spoke up, and they gazed towards you. ‘This is my boyfriend Sungchul.’ for a split second you could see Yoongi’s eyes twitch.
‘Chullie… These are the boys. Well most of them.’ you chuckled in nervousness. The boys stood up and made their way towards you guys.
‘Kim Seokjin.’ Jin shook hands with him.
‘Choi Sungchul.’ Sungchul was very polite, and talked very formally towards them even though he was the same age as Hobi and Namjoon.
The rest of the boys introduced themselves to him and shook hands, but they weren’t really impressed with him.
‘Oh Namjoon-sshi!’ Sungchul started a conversation, while you went to get the food you prepared. ‘My friends talked about your fashion blog. They are really inspired by you.’
‘Thanks.’ Namjoon tried to be nice if the other 3 were pouting and not even paying attention to him.
‘You’re an art major right?’ Jin asked in an interrogating voice. Sungchul just nodded. ‘How are your grades?’
‘Um I think i’m good. I’ve never failed any of my classes, I consider myself being in the middle in terms of my grades.’
‘And what are planning doing after university?’ Jin sounded like a worried mom, honestly, but he knew he can’t threaten the guy with you being a room away.
‘I want to continue with animations. Like cartoon characters, maybe anime.’
Suddenly the doorbell rang.’The brats are here.’ he sprinted to the door saving himself out from this situation. There’s no such thing that could describe the bitter taste in his mouth. He was really angry, but had to hide it.
He opened the door and the 3 late boys were finally there.
‘Finally.’ he sighed.
‘Did he leave?’ Jungkook asked quietly, Yoongi just shook his head. Then he punched the younger 95er. ‘I told you we should be late more.’
‘Just let’s get over with this.’ Yoongi sighed.
‘Hi!’ Sungchul bowed to them when they arrived. ‘Oh you’re an art major as well, right?’ he asked when he shook hands with Jungkook. He just nodded as an answer. It was reeaaally obvious, they didn’t like him. And Sungchul realised that as well, but didn’t really care. He dated you not them.
But he didn’t like how they were acting around you, and that they were touching. He felt there was more going on then JUST friends.
Finally everyone could sit down and start the movie. You were squashed between Sungchul and Yoongi on the couch. Hobi was sitting next to Yoongi. The maknae line were in front of the couch sharing the giant popcorn bowl. Namjoon and Jin sat next to the couch on the poofs.
The film started and everyone was mesmerised by it. Your eyes were on the screen but you could feel Sungchul’s hand on your thigh pulling you closer, and a smile spread on your face.
You scooted closer to him, and then he snaked his arm around your shoulder pulling you closer.
Yoongi’s eyes were filled with envy. He was usually a very calm and patient person. But when it came to you he lost all his patience. You were so different in every way possible than anyone else he has met. Even the simplest things just made him look at you with a different perspective. Hobi hit the bulls eye, when he said Yoongi has a crush on you. Because he really does. He doesn’t know when he started to develop those feelings he has for you.
He knew you didn’t feel the same way he did. He wasn’t mad about that. He was happy he could be your friend. He was happy if he could be your shoulder to cry on; he could be the one to call at midnight if you can’t sleep; and always giving her free rides, just so you can treat him coffee and he could meet him more. He longed for more though… He longed for those bear hugs you gave to your boyfriends. He longed for your soft lips on his. He longed for the feeling knowing he’s on your mind 24/7. He longed so bad… But he beared it for your sake. He knew you wouldn’t break your friendship even if he confessed. But he was scared. He was scared to face the truth. Rejection. That was his biggest fear in life and recieving it from you would have been the most painful.
His eyes were fixated on you instead of the movie. He was so obvious he was sure everyone noticed. His eyes twitched when that prick started playing with your hair. He wanted to do that. He wanted to be in his place. He wanted you to curl up next to him. He wanted you to have that giant smile on your face because of him. Not because of a random prick.
He never felt so jelaous of any of the guys that you dated or tried to date you. Most of the times you weren’t interested in them, and you spent the same amount of time with him. But this time he was fuelled with jelaousy.
He got up and decided he needs a drink. ‘Where are you going?’
‘To drink.’ he answered shortly.
‘Can you bring me something too?’ you asked with a wide smile on your face.
‘You have legs, use them.’
‘Aish Min Yoongi you’ll be the death of me.’ you whined. ‘I’m all comfortable, and you want me to die out of thirst?’
‘You’re not paying me enough to be your servant.’ he shrugged and moved to the kitchen to get himself a beer. He could hear that irritating voice of that bastard.
‘I’ll get you something.’
He sighed in irritation and hurried taking out his beer and trying to avoid any interaction with him, but the guy knew how to prevent that.
He moved around your kitchen like he’s been here several times. And that pissed of Yoongi a lot.
‘You guys seem to be really close with Y/N.’ he mentioned while pouring her a drink. Yoongi leaned to your desk, and sipped his beer without saying anthing. ‘I’ve noticed you don’t seem to like me though.’ He was getting on his nerves. ‘I get that you want to protect her from heartbreak but I’m not trying to play around with her. I actually like her.’
‘K.’ Yoongi finally said something.
‘Oh he speaks.’ he chuckled. ‘I thought you’re gonna ignore me all night.’
‘Listen here brat.’ Sungchul looked at him with curiosity. ‘I don’t care what you’re intentions are. You can run your mouth to me, i don’t give a single shit about you. All I care about is Y/N, and you very well know we’ll beat the shit out of you if you make one wrong move.’ he smiled but oh that wasn’t very sweet, as you would usually expect it from him. ‘So if you have something to say I suggest keeping it to yourself. You’re just gonna save the world from the dumb shit that comes out of your mouth.’ Sungchul just stood there blinking. Yoongi went back to his seat next to you, and Sungchul could hear how you whined to him about your drink.
When the film ended everyone was either half asleep or sound asleep. You laid your head on Sungchul’s chest trying to keep awake, but it was really hard since he softly caressed your shoulder.
But you had to wake up, because he needed to leave because of his work shift in the morning.
You two tried to leave without waking up the others. You talked outside of your front door a little before he went.
‘So?’ you asked him. ‘Were they bad?’ you were worried he felt like the boys didn’t like him. Okay it was obvious but at least they didn’t teased him like the last boyfriend you had.
‘Wasn’t that bad.’ he smiled at you sweetly. Ah this boy is so adorable you were sure your heart can’t handle this for much longer. ‘They certainly need to warm up, but I get them. If I’d would have a friend like you, I’d act the same around their partner.’
‘You’re so sweet.’ you placed a kiss on his cheek. ‘I was afraid you’d hate me after you meet them.’
‘Why would I?’ he chuckled. ‘I date you. And I like you. They can’t change my mind.’
‘Thank you.’
‘For what?’
‘For putting up with their attitude.’ you smiled. ‘Even I have struggles with them.’ you whined irritatedly.
He just smiled at you with a adoration in his eyes.
You two talked for a bit before you parted with a kiss. You went back to your apartment, and found the boys slowly waking up.
‘Did Lamechul leave?’ Yoongi asked with closed eyes. You just threw a pillow at him. ‘I’ll take that as a yes.’
You tried to convince the maknae line to help you clean up the mess they made after they were hours late but they were whiny and lazy to do anything about it.
Jin wanted to help you cleaning up but you insisted on telling him to go home because he needs his beauty sleep. He tried to drag Yoongi with him, but he refused, and glued himself to your comfy couch.
Namjoon wanted to go early because he was leaving early, so in the end no one helped you. Hobi and Namjoon left, and Jin took home the maknae line and made me promise I’ll try to send home sobered up Yoongi, because of Tae’s shoot.
‘YAH!’ you punched him with a pillow after you cleaned up. He just groaned as a response. ‘You were so cold.’ you hit him again. ‘Why can’t you be nice for once?’
‘I don’t like him.’ he responded.
‘Don’t be so stubborn all the time. You always do this.’ you hit him again. He grabbed your hands and threw away the pillow. He looked up at you.
‘If I’d have a girlfriend you don’t like would you tell me that?’ you nodded. ‘See? You just as stubborn as me!’ he smiled with his sweet gummy smile. Seriously you’ve had enough of Yoongi many times but you couldn’t be mad at him. Because he’s Yoongi.

Episode 4x04 Thoughts
Okay, dead brother? It's a *little* soap opera-y. HOWEVER, this could be balanced and well handled, so long as the writers, directors, and editors keep a firm grip on the tone. They were heading that way this episode with the amount of humor they infused in the telling of the secret, but by dragging it out the whole episode it got a little melodramatic.
I will say though, the Big Secret isn't *entirely* out of nowhere. We've known since Maddie was introduced that their home situation is... Unusual, and definitely lacking in support, which becomes all the more evident when the Buckley siblings go through crisis and near-death situations and there's just CRICKETS where the parents should be. (Like, yeah Eddie's parents overstep left, right, and center but at least they *showed up.*) The point being, yeah this is dramatic, but it’s not like TA-DA! DRAMA because it has a decent foundation in existing canon. So  even though there was zero clue or mention of a dead family member beforehand, the more than I think about it, the more I think there are enough building blocks to support it if everyone's careful.
Also, it’s not new for 9-1-1 to be this dramatic either. All the traumas that other characters have experienced, the way the writers handled them, the amount of drama and melodrama allowed? We’ve been here before. This is definitely one of the more dramatic arcs, but I think it can hold. 9-1-1 has walked this path before and we will walk it again! (We might sign for custody of the characters when we're done, but we're gonna see it through.)
Admittedly, I'm still too close to the new episode, it's too fresh in my head. As soon as I refine this shit down and it joins the rest of canon in my brain, I'll reassess.
Right now I'm gonna go rewatch because this episode had some GEMS!
Buckley siblings being there for each other, even though they're a little awkward at it, the love and good intentions and fear of screwing up and causing MORE pain was always the motivation.
The Han siblings trying their best to be there for the Buckley siblings. It was ADORABLE, and beautiful to see. Even if being there meant physically running away (I see you Albert helping your bro keep a secret! Also damn, you can sprint!!)
Chimney trying his HARDEST to keep the secret. Did he succeed? Not by most people's metric, there were A LOT of slip-ups, but none of us can claim we didn't see real effort there.
The entire firefam helping Chim keep Buck's secret. They knew it would take the *lightest* prompting for him to explode with it, but instead never asked and made sure he wouldn't tell. Extra shout out to Hen, who had it literally DANGLED in front of her and was like "Nope!" That shit is DIFFICULT to do
Eddie and Buck playing The Hardy Boys (y'know if the Hardy Boys flirted with each other while solving crimes.) That was hilarious, it's fun when Eddie gets off his Dad/Military-Man horse to screw around with Buck, and I'm pretty sure Buck's one of the few people who get that side out of him. It was funny and cute!
May being a total BADASS at the 9-1-1 center! Woman, you have EARNED your solo run and then some! Cool, calm and collected is our May and reaching out for assistance and counseling as needed. 100/100 for communication, my friend!
Bobby being there for May!! Loved that! His perspective on being a first responder sounds like it might be more helpful for her than Athena's, and that isn't shade on Athena. They just are different people, and I think her step-dad telling her it was okay to feel bad without also taking unearned blame. It helped her cope.
Shout-out to Michael. It takes a big man to step up and offer a solution. It takes a bigger man to admit--especially to his own child--that he might not have the solution. That moment of "this isn't really my field of expertise so I can't advise but I'm here and I love and support you anyway"? That is some delectable shit right there, three thumbs up.
Second shout-out to Chimney this episode! His handling of the bomber was f-ing brilliant on so many levels!! Getting Eddie out of harm's way. Talking the bomber down, distracting him, he de-escalated the situation single-handed and ALSO found an outlet to vent about Buck that wouldn't cause him harm. Genius! And HYSTERICAL.
Eddie's growth! He's past the hitting out his feelings phase, and he's reaching out to make sure Buck doesn't follow that path. Also, trying to make room for Buck to talk about what's bothering him? Standing back and giving him space when he didn't want to talk? He was there for him so good.
Shout-out to Buck for speaking his mind! Notice this: he swallowed so much shit against himself, but the thing that made him break the first time? Is when they were hurting his sister. His protective instincts are very strong, we see it in his job as well. But the second time he spoke out?? That was for himself. PEOPLE we got Buck sticking up for himself to the people he is DESPERATE for acceptance from and that is one of the most difficult things to do. Dare I call this the emerging of Buck 3.0? And I suspect we'll see more in the upcoming episode.
In conclusion, I think the 118 should be renamed Bobby Nash's Home for Kids with Shit Parents. We got Eddie, Chim, Buck. At this point can we just assume that Hen's parents are shit as well? And then there's Bobby, like he knows he's got step-kids, but does he realize just how many? He must, he cooks dinner for all of them every day... Right?
Next episode I'm looking forward to:
Good tone and pacing that steers clear of melodrama while still delivering tasty dramatic beautiful emotional moments.
The firefam proving to Buck that they love him, accept him, and have his back
Buck realizing he doesn't need his parents in order to feel whole. A continuing growth arc where he is able to acknowledge his feelings and ask for what he needs.
A good balance between the emergencies and the personal moments. After episode 1, the focus has HEAVILY been on the personal, leaving the emergencies to fit themselves in where they can. Obviously not expecting next episode to rebalance that scale, it's a Begins episode, but after that? Back to business.
This is a Buddie wish: continue to see these fun moments between them that we're seeing this whole season. All the banter. I REALLY hope Eddie and Chris get a chance to show up for Buck the way he's showed up for them so many times without undermining Buck's personal journey or ability to stand on his own two feet.
I REALLY hope Bobby gets a moment to be the dad Buck needs. That would be beautiful and so necessary for Buck. His heart is so big, he needs to know who he can trust with it.
I'm sorry 9-1-1 writers. Your job is thankless and my demands are MANY. But I still have high hopes for next week!
Whoever made it to the end of this, thank you. It was supposed to be like a paragraph, I swear, but... Well, here we are. I'll probably write more throughout the week as I process, too. I'd love to know your thoughts as well, hmu!

Headcanon Masterlist
Thanks for requesting! Check out my other HCs in the link above!
Rap Monster / Namjoon

The Older Brother
Joon
who thinks he can act like the father figure when dad is away,
but really, it’s them who need to protect him
Somehow has more accidents than his dongsaengs
But he’s a really good tutor
So dad doesn’t have to always help with the kids’ homework
encourages Taehyung
every time he thinks he’s found his dream occupation
even though it changes like 8473299 times a week
has a soft spot for the mysterious child that is Jeongguk
House is getting cramped
but they can share a room
Lets anyone share a bed with him if they’ve had a nightmare
cuddle monster
baby sits occasionally
plays peekaboo with the tots
and it’s all nice and fun
until he covers his eyes one minute
and then HOLY CRAP WHERE HAS THE CHILD GONE
has to fish Taehyung down from a shelf
and pull Jimin out of the fridge
then Jeongguk’s crying because he’s due a nappy change
and then holy fuck why do safety pins exist when they make your finger bleed?
thinks his brothers are some sort of curse on him for a solid year
because the accidents only happen when they’re around
but then catches dad burning his hand on the stove like
oh
probably shouldn’t have held those rituals to rid the curse
has to study at friend’s houses a lot though
so he’s not always at home
very independent as a result
because as much as he loves his brothers
they get so goddamn noisy
I guess that’s why they can come sleep in his room
because many study nights turn into sleep overs
probably only sleeps in his own bed about 3 days a week during high school years
the most trustworthy child
Jin /Seokjin
Tumblr media
The single parent
with A LOT on his hands!
Don’t ask how he acquired so many children
He just did
“You’re adopted!”
when one of his kids just won’t shut the f*ck up!
But then goes soft when they cry
Even though it was their own stupid fault
“Goddammit, I suppose I should take you out shopping or something then”
Still puts notes in the kids packed lunches
he has to be both parents
but somehow to the kids, it feels like he’s three or four parents
because he puts in 150-200% effort in everyday
Gets distressed at every milestone
he doesn’t want them to grow up
Starts crying in the middle of the clothes store
because he was only here last week
for the same child
how tf did Tae go up 2 shoe sizes this week?
why do Jeongguk’s shirts keep tearing so easily?
when did Jimin’s voice break?!
no recollection of Namjoon being a child, help
Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA on repeat
He does have a tendency to over do the whole protective thing
there’s going to be a lesson to be learned from this
but I’m just going to tell it to you now
so you don’t have to go through all that upset and heart-break
but he gets some help along the way to let go a little
“Seokjin, why does Taehyung’s wallpaper now have a... rubbery theme to it?”
“Harry Potter is a bad influence and I will not have my baby having five thousand head injuries!”
“Jin, I know the kid can do some dumb things, but do you honestly think he’s going to try that many times?”
Makes the other parents jealous
he doesn’t mean to though
he can’t help if he invites the kids’ friends round for tea, that his cooking happens to be better....
the other half of the parents of the kids at school however are single and all have a thing for him
Will buy everything his child needs for a project
perhaps a bit gullible at times
“a skateboard?”
“for science. gravity.”
“oh, okay”
Waves with a little hanky when the kids go on school trips
“have you got your bag?”
“have you got the lunch I packed you?”
“Yes dad, all 6 boxes of it”
Has some quirks that he won’t admit he has
or that the kids have picked up from him
“Why does Jeongguk make racing car sounds when he runs still?”
*shrugs*
“I have no idea”
*goes to put something on the shelf making a swanee whistle sound*
“Why does Taehyung still believe in unicorns?”
“Shut up! They’re totally real!”
Cliches
eat your crusts to get stronger
carrots to see in the dark
beauty sleep
the early bird gets the worm
*goddammit now the kids are waking up at 5am to take all the contents of the fridge*
err, too much chocolate milk makes you sad
“but it tastes so good Dad!”
“Goddammit children we should be endorsed for chocolate milk!!!”
Wants to hear all about your day
“Dad, I’m 27 now”
“I don’t care Namjoon. Tell me about your day.”
“Daaaad”
“and I made you hot chocolate and cookie, come snuggle on the couch with me”
Family photos at xmas with matching sweaters
From the
“Look at this piece of art that Jeonggukkie made for me today!”
*sticks it on the fridge but it’s made of pasta and lolly sticks so it keeps sliding down*
to the
“Oh my life my ChimChim has graduated uni!”
even the
“You just burped the alphabet? My son is so talented!”
“You made a rap about breakfast? Genius!”
Everything the kids do is amazing and a big achievement
Suga / Yoongi
Tumblr media
Grandad by blood to one of the kids
Pop-pops to all the kids anyways
No one is quite sure which kid is his grandchild though
Tbh he's just here for some peace and quiet
(Chance would be a fine thing though...)
Owns that one chair in the living area
over the years, the general room design and furniture cahnges
but that chair stays
Just watches the kids do stupid shit
Guk’s about to put a crayon up his nose
and Tae is about to walk through a wall
but he ain’t gonna stop them
“Let the idiots learn from their own mistakes”
*crash!* *bang!*
*crying*
“You raised morons.”
Makes less gestures
but when he does, they’re huge
kinda like how some people pay for things weekly, and some monthly
One of the few grandparents that doesn’t constantly share their war stories
he just shares his own experiences when relevant
Though Taehyung is always asking for him to tell another story
“Tae, it’s 10pm”
“Just one more story pop-pops, please?”
He has more impact on the kids than he realizes
they adore him so much
and he wonders why the parents that helped create these kids don’t want to be around to raise them with Jin
but he wouldn’t have this family any other way
Gives the most heart-warming, tear-jerking toasts
everyone thought they were gonna cry at Jimin’s wedding because of the vows and love is beautiful and all the rest
but instead, everyone ends up being lame for the story of how pop-pops met his one true love
and the ending makes you emo for weeks
No one quite knows why he acts so indifferent
because he has such soft stories
Namjoon wonders for a while in his childhood
and then when he’s grown up
one day when he’s no longer living at home and drops in to say hello
Pop-pops is in his chair
watching the kids shooting each other with nerf guns
whites socks sliding on the kitchen lino
and sound effects
and then Namjoon sees it;
Pop-pops likes to just watch the kids progress day by day
watching them learn from their mistakes
watching them develop as people
that’s why he’d never step in when there was a recipe for disaster about to happen
He encourages Jin
to make sure they grow up into well-rounded people
rather than put them in bubblewrap
and he couldn’t have done a better job.
J-Hope / Hoseok

That cool uncle
Uncle Hobi
That everyone adores, especially the youngest
because he comes back with a gift every visit
Puts up with a lot of shit from the younger kids
because he can go home at the end of the day
Proudest uncle in the world
goes to all the kids events with Jin
although it’s a problem when he’s watching a match and two of the kids are on opposite teams like
“go on you reds! you can do i---”
“oh nice tackle blues! sock it to them!”
“I love both teams!”
all the other adults are confused
“Everyone’s a winner; go purple!!!”
Owns so much cool stuff
sometimes the kids sleep round at his
they’re fighting over the arcade machine
challenging each other to snooker or darts matches
arguing about the artwork on the wall
uncle hobi just smiles
Takes them out every weekend
so many fond memories
Spends all his money on the kids
there’s that one game Jeongguk’s not so good at at the arcade
but he’s addicted to it
so cool uncle hobi keeps giving him quarters
*2 days later”
“Look! Uncle Hobi! I finally won!”
“Well done, champ!”
Yeah, and it only cost him 200 dollars...
and guess who feeds Taehyung’s taste for Gucci?
or rather, guess who started it?
Jimin doesn’t ask for much
but uncle Hobi is always showering him with gift baskets when the others aren’t around
Namjoon sometimes joins them on their little outings
and he tells uncle Hobi all about the the new things he’s learned in school
and then Hobi find himself writing a cheque mid conversation
“Uh, Uncle Hobi, what are you doing?”
“Just take my money and go change the world!!”
It’s impossible to be prouder than Jin
but he’s pretty close
Jimin
Tumblr media
The middle brother
Chim
Who gets to order Tae and Guk around
as they get older, he’ll double dare them to some stupid shit
and they’ll do it
Younger brothers are just there for his amusement.
It’s the only reason they were born
Like remember that one time it was snowing and he triple dared them to lick that frozen pole...?...
Takes more influence from pop-pops than he realizes
“It’s not my fault they were stupid enough to do it”
Doesn’t like it when Jungkook grows up
Yesterday, he was at Jimin’s shoulder level
but today, Jungkook is patting his head
Probably because of all those times Jungkook took the last of the chocolate milk
“JEON JUNGKOOK!!!”
and
“Stop copying me Jeongguk; I did it first!”
but nawh, he does adore the youngest bro
back up older brother
you know that mem
the one where it’s like
*someone is sad*
and then
Jimin: [that picture of him peaking round the corner being a cute lil mochi]
He’s mostly like that for Tae
but when Joon leaves home
he’s there for Guk too in this way
He’s a good listener
which he gets from Dad Jin and brother Joon
bonds more with Tae as time goes by
mainly because the other brothers move out first
Falls for the best friend of the girl Taehyung is dating
oh look at that, it turns out she’s his soulmate
double dates with his bro
embarrassing childhood stories
but the girls just find it charming, really
so many family get together events because of these two brothers alone
21st birthday parties
they could have had a combined celebration
but why do that when you can have twice the fun?
Taehyung’s friends are Jimin’s friends
and vice versa
Jin watches them on movie night from the kitchen for a moment being proud
and then makes them extra popcorn
“Dad, we’ll get fat!”
“Good; I like my children to have chubby cheeks”
what other life events? oh yeah
engagement parties
weddings
emotional toasts
about how they’ve gotten closer these recent years
followed by a baby story
“Tae, I can’t believe you told them that!”
“What? You showed everyone my baby pictures at my last birthday party!”
It’s kinda weird when Jimin and Taehyung fall out
because when they fall out
it’s not even a proper argument
like they don’t even know how to argue
“Dammit Jimin! Did you have to dress better than me tonight?!... Like seriously, where did you get that sweater?”
“Kim Taehyung! Did you steal that hair dye I bought?!... Oh wait never mind, that really suits you”
Secrets that make them even closer
they don’t always like to burden Dad
so they tell each other instead
Tae helps Jimin come out of his shell
and in return, Jimin helps Taehyung understand people better
Very capable of living independent lives
but feel empty without one another for too long
V / Taehyung
Tumblr media
That child you cannot leave alone for 2 seconds
Bwi / TaeTae as a child, then
Tae as he gets older
“Okay, Tae Tae, I’m just going upstairs for something, so don’t touch anything”
“WTF KIM TAEHYUNG WHY AND HOW IS THE FRIDGE ON FIRE!?!”
Gets ice cream all over his face after one lick
Takes ‘the floor is lava’ game very seriously
creates the most laundry for Jin to do
because he’s always climbing and skidding
and just being a boy really
Wants to pet everything, and
Wants a pet everything
“Dad! Can we get a dog?”
“How about a bunny?”
“How about a unicorn?”
“...Unicorns don’t exist Tae; they’re made up”
“Shut up! They’re totally real!”
(Like father, like son...)
Usually a carrier when there’s illness going round at school
“Look TaeTae, I know you don’t feel ill, but just be careful not to...”
*Tae sneezes really loudly without covering his face*
...
Lives for bedtime stories
loves fairytales
but comes to love underrated literature even more
so he really appreciates where those tales derived from
like old folklores and myths, etc
but also the more modern pieces that follow
and he knows all the pre-Brothers Grimm versions
but still somehow remains pure
santa is always real, no matter what you tell him
and the tooth fairy
and the easter bunny
Everyone knows Taehyung is a unique child
he just has a different perspective to most of the children
no one knows where it came from
and not even Jin can credit himself for that
and he’s either going to grow up to be really smart
or a solitary eccentric
Has like a million teddy bears
they all get equal cuddles
one for each day of the week month year
Wants to try everything when he grows up
“Daddy, I want to be a surgeon!”
and it’s like a new occupation each day
“Lawyer!”
“Archaeologist!”
“Dentist!”
you never knew there were so many jobs in the world
“Shoplifter!”
“Shoplifter? What? Tae, you can’t steal things!”
Looking back, you wouldn’t believe that stupid shit came out of his mouth
he grows up so intelligent
and becomes a writer for children’s books
Defends any family member no matter what
even if there’s a chance they’re in the wrong
but that don’t matter because they’ve raised him so right
Jin cries when he leaves home because he’s raised
husband material
Ends up extending the family by 60%
adorable little puppies for children
and then adorable children as cute as puppies
and because he’s forever a child by spirit
he raises them to believe and be happy and have a little faith
It’s so hard to pick godparents
but he picks Jimin eventually
Fathers of a new generation of kids
Wow, they grow up so fast
Jungkook
Tumblr media
Another child that needs constant supervision
‘Guk / Jeonggukie / Gukkie
Puts everything in his mouth
“No Jeonggukie! You can’t eat uncle Hobi!”
With baby Bwi he’s a
LITTLE MONSTER
Not even sure he’s Jin’s kid
or just a friend Bwi brought into the house one day
No one realizes until he’s like 11 years old
that he’s one of Pop-pops’ grandkids
"How could you not tell us something like that Yoongs?”
“What? You never asked...
“...also, he’s a moron”
but pop-pop Yoongs doesn’t mean it
He just doesn’t want to give Jungkook special treatment
back to Guk
Gets way too hyper before his teens
then one day Jin is the garage trying to fix the car and Jeongguk won’t leave him alone
and in a panic he sees some weights like
“Here have a go on these”
and that’s why Jeongguk grows up to be a
muscle pig
becomes stronger than all his older siblings
they actually get low key scared of him in adulthood
also becomes like really good at fixing stuff
so when Namjoon moves out
Guk follows not long after to share an apartment with him
and it saves a bit of money on repairs
so it’s kinda cute
because in childhood, Namjoon would fix Gukkie’s broken heart with his wisdom and wise advice
and in adulthood, Jeongguk fixes Namjoon’s broken furniture with his more practical skills
Won’t admit it but
copies Jimin
on purpose
but like I say, he won’t admit it
“Jeongguk!! I had muscles first!”
“Whaaat?”
*crushes a walnut with his bare fist*
he just smiles
because he’s finally as strong as his great older bro
Gathers a lot of hobbies and interests
he has something he can share with each family member
If he wants to talk about something, all he has to do is
ask Jimin if he wants a video game night or
ask Dad to bake Gukkie Cookies with him or
-- sorry --
ask Tae to meet at the book store or
ask Joon for an anime marathon or
ask uncle Hobi to come bowling or
ask pop-pops if he’s interested in a spot of golf
fortunately, he doesn’t even have to say something’s up
everyone knows that’s his go to move if he needs advice
Some people would say that all the things he has are down to luck
but he knows he wouldn’t be where he is without his family
and that’s the lucky part

↠ description: Stuck in what seemed to be unrequited relationship with Jeon Jungkook who just so happens to be in committed relationship with someone else as well, your heart was fragmented beyond any repair. So what exactly happens when you enter your room at 3 in the morning to find the culprit of your hellish misery, counting his gold-tipped arrows on the foot of your bed—wings outstretched and all?
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | ongoing
"I know I told you to drink up but damn, you don't have to drink the whole bar."
Pretending not to hear Kim Taehyung has become so natural now that you didn't even have to pretend you weren't hearing him because your alcohol-addled mind seemed to barricade his remark like system reflex, your hand grappling the hard shot placed—more like slammed on the table that some of the contents spilled out—by the bartender with an unsteady hold, downing the liquor in a smooth go, not a wince nor a single grimace elicited from you; slightly alarming Yoongi and Taehyung who had recently joined in your binge fest, exchanging knowing and worried glances on their own which you would usually make some witty statement to about leaving you out of the loop but now, you didn't seem to care.
"You're doing nothing but torturing yourself and your internal organs with these strong liquors you relentlessly drink as if it's nothing but water, you dumbass. You won't feel anything by the end of the night," Yoongi downed the shot you were about to drink before you could even think of holding the glass.
"Exactly why I'm doing this," your words were nothing but a jumble of mispronounced syllables in a form of a drunken slur, laughing to yourself as you swayed back and forth on your seat before poking the pale boy's cheeks, "Such a genius, Yoongs."
Comprehension unfolded on the faces of the two boys, eyes scanning the whole chaotic establishment before landing on the vague outline of a dancing pair in the middle of the dancefloor, not even missing a beat in recognizing the overly familiar signature boots their younger best friend used, clearly understanding why you were pathetically drowning your sorrows with endless drinks they know they wouldn't even have the willpower to drink without puking it back out on the glass itself.
"Will you please stop?" Taehyung, now worried, grasped your wrist in hopes to stop you from drinking yet another shot from the counter, which still had two shots left after you had effortlessly drowned the past ten glasses by yourself, "What good will this do to you? You're not helping yoursel—"
"Why can't it be me?" you asked so quietly, tracing the edge of the glass with the tip of your finger, Taehyung falling silent at the sudden question before looking at Yoongi for some help, sensing that you weren't kidding around this time.
Usually, Taehyung always knew what to say, what words to utter to cheer you up when it came to your feelings towards Jeon Jungkook when you were sober and actually able to make some jokes—but seeing you like this, so vulnerable and exposed, he knew that his witty and diverting remarks wouldn't cut it this time around. Both of them weren't used to you being so open about your feelings, used to the fact that it was usually you who would try to make a joke out of the similar situation, brushing it off with either an insult to yourself or to Jungkook—but this time, that wasn't the case because you were actually serious for once, your eyes trying to search the answer to your pending question as you desperately glanced at the two boys you seemed to render speechless.
Just as you were about to down yet another shot—which was the last one left on the table, hopeful to be numb from all the burning jealousy and useless feelings you'd been undesirably feeling the whole night—a strong grip wrapped around your wrist from behind, a frown and a goddamned whine left your lips as you turned around to face a blank-faced Jimin, his expression unseen by you since your vision was too blurry to be able to decipher whatever expression he held as he stared you down.
"Jimin!" You cheerfully greeted him, grinning up to him in hopes for him to send you one back, but the stoic expression remained on his face, causing you to frown, your other hand raising to pull up the corners of his mouth but he leaned his head back.
"Stop it right now."
"Touching you?" Confused, you tilted you head to the side, "Drinking? Which one?"
He made a move to grab the glass from your hold but you tightened your grip on it, refusing to give it up to him, seeing him clench his jaw and quickly shutting his eyes tightly. You've never seen Jimin act like this, so aggresive and angry that it made you feel disappointed of yourself since you knew he was like this because of you.
Despite his numerous warnings for you to stop drinking so heavily, you refused to conform, downing numerous shots every time he said the opposite. You wanted nothing more but to see his adorable wide smile that curved his eyes into nothing but tiny little crescents but the fact your mind was addled with alcohol and wanting nothing more but a temporary release from all the things you've been holding in for the longest time, you wanted to let go of everything else—even just for tonight.
"Fucking stop, (Y/N)," the sudden harshness of his tone made you release the bottle with no second thoughts, his other that wasn't gripping into yours catching the glass before sliding it to Taehyung, only to realize that the two had been long gone to give you some privacy, not wanting to hear your argument, so he slammed the glass on the counter behind you.
His hand, which used to hold your wrist, slowly intertwined with yours that previously held the glass, his forehead gently resting on top of yours and up close, you could see how tired he was, knowing how he was undoubtedly not used to this type of environment you had dragged him to, seeing how he obviously flinched every time the bass got too violent for him, "Please."
"Let's talk outside."
With your hands still intertwined with each other's, you head towards the back of the club, immediately detaching your hold on him as you both sat down on the deserted curb, you singing a lullaby to yourself as you drew patterns on the pathway.
Despite the fact that he was extremely tired from the new experience, he couldn't really stop the small smile that desperately tried to make its way to his face, resorting to biting his lower lip instead of letting out his smile for you to see when he's making it seem like he was still angry with you.
"I want to forget, Chim," you spoke way too quietly that if it weren't for the fact that Jimin's attention was all over you, he wouldn't have heard you.
"I keep drinking in hopes to feel numb of all the hurt I feel. I keep drinking in hopes that I could change all those years of liking Jungkook for a night—just one night, that's all I'm asking for—to forget whatever feelings I have for my best friend. I want to feel numb of all the jealousy I feel when I see Jungkook in the middle of that club with Ji Eun, faking a smile whenever they get closer just so that he wouldn't be able to see that all I ever fucking want is for him to look at me like he looks at her, for him to hold me like he holds her, for him to care for me like he cares for her. For him to love me like the way he loves her. But I can't Jimin. He's my best friend and I'm supposed to make him happy, Chim, but how exactly can I do that when the only thing that makes him happy breaks me? Just for tonight, just for this fucking night, Chim, I want to let go of all of that. Fuck, I want to let go of him but I can't...I just can't."
You wanted to cry but you felt too drained of any emotions that nothing came out but broken whispers from your hoarse throat, your head hitting your palms with a loud smack as you hid your face in your hands, your head pounding from all the adrenaline that pumped through your veins as you let everything out at Jimin who listened beside you.
He let out a sigh and you expected him to stand up and leave you, not only in the back of the club but to actually leave you for real and go back to wherever he was from, thinking he had enough of you to abandon any thoughts of helping you until you finally found the right person, your heart clenching at the thought alone—which hurt way more than anything you've felt tonight.
But then his hand clasped yours, flinching in surprise when the cold surface of the beer bottle hit your skin, eyes widening as soon as you saw him pulling out another one behind him.
"I should not be tolerating this but what can I do? Let's do this together then."
"Where did you—"
"Cheers to the broken hearts, (Y/N)."
When it came down to this, Jeon Jungkook knew everything that needed to be done from the most minute things that concerned you—most especially if you were hammered beyond oblivion, seemingly as if your soul had left your body as you stagger through your own hallway, not conscious enough to acknowledge that you were in your own residence; he knew how you needed a bath warm enough for your clouded senses to gently come back down to wherever realm it had flew away to, how you needed exactly two cookies you stacked away in the very back of your fridge in circumstances like this, and how you needed a glass of warm milk to down it right after.
"You seriously left me here, Jungkook?" he flinched as his girlfriend's voice filled the line on the phone, sighing to himself as you let out a sigh on his side, a huge adorable grin on your face as your hands gripped the bottom of his shirt and the other on Jimin's own who followed inside quietly, stillness filling his aura as he silently helped you.
Jungkook sighed as he struggled to pull your leg off the pillar you had somewhat attached yourself to, "I'm sorry, babe, I had to make sure (Y/N) gets home safely. You know how I owe her one just like she did for me last time. I already asked Taehyung if you could—"
"A little heads-up would've been fine, Jungkook."
"I'm sorry, it just slipped my mind."
"Excuse me?" Agitation filled her voice and if her tone was shrill prior then Jungkook had to pull the phone away from his face if he wanted his ear not to fall off this time around, "It just slipped your mind?"
"Can we fight about this later? I'll be in your front porch first thing in the morning, I promise. I got to go, Ji Eun. I love you." And he hang up the phone, throwing it somewhere in your couch. He''ll surely find it later.
His eyes found Jimin who had his arm around your waist, acting as your support at your sluggish movements, observing how you grinned up at the latter who simply rolled his eyes before laughing quietly to himself as he pushed a lock of hair away from your face. Jungkook found himself passively walking closer, wrapping his hand around your wrist to pull you up from nearly face-planting the floor before facing the grey-haired fellow who bit his lip, "You can go home now, man. I'll take it from here. Thank you for the help."
Confused, your eyebrows furrowed as you looked up at Jimin, "He lives with me, though, why are you making him go? Did you know he tucks me in at night like a child?"--you giggled--"He stays with me in my room until I fall asl—"
"Okay," Jimin cut you off, his palming resting against your mouth as he pulled your giggling self to his chest, "I'll put her to bed, don't worry. Can you please get her a glass of milk from the kitchen and some—"
"I know what to get," Jungkook didn't intend for the words to come out as harsh as they did, kicking himself in his mind when Jimin pursed his lips in return before nodding and bending down to carry you, Jungkook's eyes never leaving the both of you as Jimin's arms wrapped around your knees; how you curled into his chest like that's where you belonged, how you looked so at ease that very moment, and most especially how his chest seemed to restrict at the sight.
Sighing to himself, he seemed to be dragging his feet in the direction of your kitchen, appearing to be overly familiarized with the room as he quickly pull out the box of cookies from the very back of the fridge—his brain drowning in his own silent thoughts that he hadn't realized the milk was overflowing from the glass.
Chastising himself, he cleaned up the mess before hauling himself upstairs to your room with the tray, pausing just outside your bedroom door when he heard the muffled voices of you and Jimin, pieces of your conversation escaping from the small crack of the already-opened door.
Jeon Jungkook had never once saw you as anything else but a best friend; a sister at most, but he also couldn't deny the fact that way, way down his chest—in the deepest chamber of his heart, hidden feelings were buried underneath the pile of unleashed emotions that were undoubtedly for you; no matter how weak the feeling was compared to what he feels towards his girlfriend, he knew it was there—secured and unscathed underneath the thick layers of feelings for Ji Eun. He just never acted upon it because if he was to, he knew it was you who's going to suffer from the inevitable damage towards the end. And hurting you was the last thing he'd ever wanted to do.
"Will you stay with me tonight?"
That one sentence he heard—that one damned statement that stumbled from your lips directed to someone else and not him, made him realize the existence of such feelings underneath his chest and he hated himself for it. He wanted nothing more but to turn around and walk away, clear his head of the nonsense thoughts that kept floating around his mind. It's just the alcohol talking, Jungkook. Get a hold of yourself, stupid, you have girlfriend, you have a girlfriend, you have girlfriend, you have a girlfriend, he thought to himself.
"I will, don't worry," Jimin mumbled, gently tapping your nose, "I'll give you some time with Jungkook first though, okay?"
"I don't want to be alone with him," you whispered, looking down on the crumpled comforter that sat on your lap, fingers twisting in a weave, "I don't know if I can."
Jungkook bit the insides of his cheeks, left to do nothing but watch as Jimin gave you a smile before pressing a soft kiss on your forehead, his lips just ghosting over your skin for a quarter of a second before quickly pulling away, "I'll see you later. Goodnight,"
Jungkook took several steps backwards as soon as Jimin headed for the bedroom door to make it seem like he was just walking up the stairs—to make it seem like he wasn't just looking at what unfolded before him helplessly before starting to beat himself up for feeling something towards it.
"Hey."
Looking up, Jungkook sent Jimin a small smile, nodding his head in acknowledgment, "Is she awake?"
"Yeah, go ahead. She's still drunk though," Jimin laughed slightly before everything else dropped into nothing but still awkwardness, so palpable that Jungkook wouldn't be too surprised if the cookie on the tray would be able to cut through it.
"Thank you," Jungkook nodded his head once again, "for taking care of her."
Jimin seemed to thought deep about his reply before shrugging, "She deserves it."
Jungkook kicked the door open and closed it in the same way, considering his hands were occupied with the tray of cookies and glass of milk, smiling to himself as he stared you looking at the ceiling as you counted whatever you were seeing that he couldn't, placing the tray on your bedside table before picking up the cookies from plate, "Eat up."
You slowly pulled the cookie from his hand, chewing on the sweet stuff as you swayed back forth, your eyes never leaving him, gaze never wavering even though he raised his hand, the skin gently hitting your cheeks as he swept away the strands of hair that littered on your face; his eyes too not leaving yours for a second.
"What are you doing here?"
"Don't you want me here?" Jungkook laughed, crossing his legs underneath him as he faced you.
"Your girlfriend might be waiting for you—"
"She knows I'm with you."
You nodded before reaching for the glass, Jungkook rushing forward to get it before you do, his hands capturing yours in the process. Despite the fact that you were bordering unconsciousness, you couldn't deny the fierce blush that exploded through your skin as he clasped your hand in his, tightly holding on to it as if you were to disappear the moment he lets go. You slowly met his gaze—regretting it the second you did—only to turn you head the other way with how intense he was looking at you, his other hand which wasn't holding yours gently grasped your chin to turn your head back to face him, his forehead unexpectedly resting against yours which made you feel as if the world had stopped turning, his eyes holding you captive. He was too damn close that you feel his breath hitting the top of your lip.
"What are you doing, Jungkook?"
"Are you mad at me? Did I do something?" Jungkook desperately search your eyes as if answers would suddenly pop out of nowhere. Both of his hands now holding yours tightly.
"Stop," you whispered, screwing your eyes shut. This wasn't healthy for you. The fact that you were drunk and emotional enough, you didn't need this type of conversation to make its entrance because once you open your mouth, everything will blow over. All will be fucked.
"Talk to me. What did I do wrong? I know I've been a shitty friend lately, I know I've been blowing you off but I swear to God, (Y/N), I didn't mean to. I know I haven't been there for you when you needed me and I'm sorry—no, actually, apologies would not cover up for everything I promised you but didn't actually turn up to. I know you. I know how you'll say that you understand. I know how you'll say everything's completely fine. But you know what? I absolutely hate it because I know everything you say is the opposite of what you actually feel. And I hate how we're talking about this now when we're both shitfaced and helloaded but I know this is the only time we'll get to talk about this—for you to open up about this. So please."
"It hurts." You didn't even see the point of holding everything back now. It was all or nothing.
Jungkook sighed, letting go of your hands, thinking that you were feeling something physically and he stood up from your bed, ready to help you. At this point, he could see how your eyes were nearly closing out from exhaustion and he felt disappointed, knowing how he'll never get to talk to you about this.
He froze though when he saw a tear slipping down your cheeks before a couple more slipped out your eyes, "It hurts here," you clutched your chest, screwing your eyes shut as more tears flowed out, not even having the strength to stop them, "It hurts right here, Kookie. And I want it to stop. I want it to stop because it hurts so, so much, Kookie. Make it go away, please."
He was immediately by your side, arms engulfing you in a tight hug as he rocked the both of you back and forth, your violently shaking figure seemingly small compared to his that totally covered your own, his hands stroking your hand that brought you back to reality; hands reaching up to push him away.
"Please stop," you sobbed before you spoke in a defeated, broken voice, "Stop doing these things to me. Stop taking care of me, stop using that stupid nickname of yours you keep calling me, stop staring at me like I'm the one who put the stars in the fucking universe, stop calling me in the middle of the night just because you say you want to hear my voice, stop sending me good night texts, stop holding my hand when it gets cold—just stop. Stop doing all these things when you only consider me your best friend because it hurts, Jungkook. It hurts to know that that's all I'll ever be to you yet you do these stupid little things that make my heart flutter every single damn time and I hate myself for it because I know you already have someone that makes you feel the things you do to me. Stop making me love you even more. Jungkook, I beg you, stop stopping me from letting you go.
"Because it hurts so, so fucking much, Kookie that I don't know what to do anymore. I don't know how to act around you anymore. Fucking hell, I don't know how to be your best friend anymore—and that's what gets me the most, because even though that's the most I can ever be to you, I went and fuck it up by falling for you. I'm sorry, Jungkook," By the time you were finished with your impromptu speech, you were out of breath, heaving with the overwhelming amount of emotions and tears that wracked your body, "I didn't mean to love you this much."
With the last statement, exhaustion overpowered your entire being as your eyes sealed shut with one last sob, nearly falling off the bed if it weren't for Jungkook dashing out to catch you, embracing you to his chest as he slowly laid you back on your pillow properly, pulling the blanket underneath your chin, before sitting down beside your sleeping figure.
He didn't know what to do.
Tightly holding your hands against his lips, he couldn't help but squeeze out the moisture in his eyes that had accumulated through the time you had let out your emotions, having been completely open and honest with him.
It could've been a minute, an hour, two hours, three, four—he didn't know how long he stayed there by your side, staring at your tear stained face as he clutched your hand against his face. He had no absolute idea what to do now that you had confirmed the very thoughts he tried hard to push down and deny for the past few months he had picked up on; you weren't really good at hiding the moment you hastily looked away whenever he'd get sweet with his girlfriend. He'd always had a hunch—he just didn't want to accept it in fear he'd be returning it with the untouched feelings buried deep in his heart for you.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, feeling his heart clench as if he was the one letting you go, "I can't catch you."
There are two types of people in the world the day after an alcohol-filled night; those who become absolutely plastered and shitfaced that they suddenly acquire an amnesia overnight, not remembering even a drop of thing that happened the night before, and there are those who get shitfaced that they pass out from intoxication but can recall every single detail thoroughly like a clear crystal glass that's just been conscientiously cleaned for five hours straight—and you just happened to fall into the latter category. Frankly, remembering whatever stupid shit you had been doing the previous night was not a bad thing, but remembering exactly what went down last night? You wished you had not just an amnesia overnight but an actual amnesia that would make you forget everything you had done in your whole pathetic existence.
Remembering exactly how you broke down into nothing but a shitty puddle of tears in front Jeon Jungkook—defenseless and downright pathetic, you whined, trashing around your bed wildly, only to regret it a second later as your head thumped violently in all directions, your body stiffening and ceasing all movements completely.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid," you chanted over and over again as you reached over the dresser to retrieve your phone that has now a fucking web of cracks all over the screen.
"Fucking pick up, you bitch," you cursed, another wave of pain exploding from the back of your skull as you wait for Kim Seokjin to wake his ass from the sleep he doesn't deserve one bit.
You heard the line crackled, quiet shuffling emerging from the other line, "Hello?"
"Screw you and your stupid birthday party. Screw you for inviting me. Screw you for paying for an open bar. Screw you for having free alcohol. Screw you, Kim Seokjin, screw you to Jupiter and back—no wait, actually, screw you just to Jupiter, don't come back. Screw you to infinity, you dick," you groaned, rubbing your eyes as you slowly sat up, "This is all your faul—I'm on speaker, am I not?"
Hearing Kim Taehyung's unmistakable laugh on the background—if it was possible—made you even more irritated and provoked than you already are.
"What happened now?" Taehyung shouted on the other line, making you flinch at the sudden tone of his voice that burst from the speakers.
"Tone it down, you fuck," you seethed, "Jeon Jungkook happened. I confessed."
Silence.
There was nothing else but silence on the other end of the line except for the sharp intake of breaths from both men, Jin coughing uncomfortably, "Come again? We didn't hear you right, right? You did not."
"Oh, I fucking did, Jin. I did. I flipping confessed to Jeon Jungkook, my freaking best friend for more than half of my entire existence, last night in the middle of a drunken and messy breaking down, all because I had too much alcohol in my system to keep my mouth shut," you snapped, hearing an unmistakable splatter of liquid coming from someone's mouth and the overly familiar choking sound Taehyung was making, "And it was way different from how I imagined telling him the truth because all there was was a glass of milk and cookies on the bedside table instead of freaking scented candles. Holy shit, I'm freaking out. I'm actually freaking out."
"Hey, hey," Jin's voice traveled over and you took a deep breath, "Do you need us to come over?"
Screwing your eyes shut, you counted to ten in your head. You had to face this someway, somehow. "No, no. No need. I'm just scared and a little bit over reacting, Jin. I really don't know what to do much less face him. I can't. What do we do now? Are we still friends? Do I come over to his house and talk to him? Do I lie to him? This is frustrating and hopeless."
After a few more curses and sentences exchanged over the phone, you decided to hang up after both of them reassured you a million times and offering to come over (only to be cursed once again) and sending you sending reassurances that they were just a call away if you ever need them, which you really appreciated at this time of...need. Gathering enough courage to actually open your bedroom door, you were immediately engulfed with the luscious scent of pancakes.
Is Jimin cooking? you asked yourself, opening his bedroom door to find his room empty. He must be. Sighing you walked towards the kitchen without so much as a glance around the room, plopping down on one seat before plopping your head on your folded arms on the table, "You're heaven-sent, Chim, it smells amazi—oh shit."
Standing before you was definitely not Jimin—it was the one and only person you had seen last the previous night. It was dreadful enough as it is, so why the hell does he have to be the first person you see in the morning? Well, there's no running away now.
"Does Jimin cook you your breakfast?" Jungkook asked so quietly you wouldn't have heard him if you weren't so shocked that you only focused on him. He was dressed differently from last night, his semi wet hair a clear indication that he had went home and showered before coming back over, "You woke up earlier than I expected. I was just supposed to leave this for you to eat after you wake up and uh, I was going to leave after um, leaving you this."
"Oh, it's okay," you gave him a tight smile, "Did Jimin tell you where he had gone?"
"He told me he was going out for his usual run," Jungkook looked at you and you escaped his gaze when you pretended to look down on your phone, giving him a casual 'hmm' for an answer.
You nearly laughed at Jimin's excuse to leave the house. That kid can't even walk around the mall for a mere ten minutes much less follow his usual run—which he doesn't even have in the first place. As far as you knew, he could've been using his wings and flying over that exact moment to Taehyung's house to hangout with his new overly welcoming friend; which also would be a perfect alibi just so that he could escape the house and listen to you and Jungkook.
Despite the fact that you have known him for barely a month and a few weeks, you knew that if he stayed, he wouldn't be able to carry the guilt he still held against himself, claiming this was his wrongdoing, despite your protest that it wasn't. Because to be honest, you didn't even put an ounce of blame on him. You knew—which he also had said the very first night you met—that you chose who you wanted to fall for.
Basking in the thick tension that seemed to envelop the whole kitchen, you were tempted to pick up a knife and slice through the palpable and obvious tension just for the hell of it. You could see Jungkook hesitating in your peripheral vision, his hands twitching on his side and you knew just how he wanted to make you face him so you stood up, the heavy screeching of the chair scraping against the floor echoing around the tense room.
"I'll be in the living room," you didn't even make it two steps out the door when his hand gripped your forearm, just enough force to make you halt your actions, staying still and not turning back.
"Aren't we going to talk about it?"
Laughing weakly to yourself, you gripped your phone tighter in your hands, "I think I did enough talking last night, Jungkook."
"(Y/N), please."
You finally turned around, sighing in defeat as you stared at him, "Do you really want me to repeat it, Jungkook? You know I speak the honest truth when I'm shitfaced. Yes, I'm fucking in love with you. I'm in love with Jeon Jungkook. I'm in love with my best friend. There, are you satisfied now?"
"Of course I'm not!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air, "You think this makes me happy? Why are you getting mad at me anyway?"
"God, Jungkook, could you be anymore dense? I only know shit when it comes to things likes this—I don't know what to do with my own self. I don't know how to turn it all back to how it used to be."
"You can't," he ran his hand through his hair, pulling at the roots frustratedly.
"Exactly, I can't, Jungkook. No matter how much we'll try to fix our friendship and make things turn back to normal, it fucking can't and it won't. I ruined everything for us when I went ahead and fell for you, and I don't know how to fix this mess I created myself Jungkook. I don't think we can just build a bridge and get over this," you sighed, "Now that you know the only thing I've been trying to keep from you, I don't think I can continue being friends with you because I know I'll only hold you back and that's the very last thing I want. I don't want you to have any reservations on your actions around me whenever you're with our girlfriend just because I'm pathetically in love with you. That's why—"
"No way," he scoffed, walking forward only to have take two steps backward, "Are you really expecting me to just be okay with you cutting our friendship just because you have feelings for me? I don't care, (Y/N). Just please, don't do this."
"You asshole," you laughed bitterly, pushing his chest, "you think I'm doing this for you? For once in my whole life, Jungkook, I'm being selfish. Don't you see? I'm doing this for myself. If you don't care that I'm in love with you while you're in a relationship with someone else, well I do, Jungkook. For once, quit being so selfish and think of me. I don't want to fucking stand around on the sidelines, watching you and Ji Eun walk off to the edge of the damned sunset while I stab my own heart behind while I wait for the goddamn time for you to spare me even an ounce of your feelings. I may be stupid when it comes to you but I know just until when to be, Jungkook, and the lines have to be crossed at some point and as much as I know that it'll hurt the both of us, I know I have to do this. I'm sorry."
"Please don't this, I'm begging you, for the love of God."
"Break up with Ji Eun and be with me."
"What?"
"You heard me, Jungkook. Break up with Ji Eun and be with me." Bullshit. This was all bullshit but it had to be said because way before he could open his mouth to speak, you already knew his answer. You pulled up Ji Eun's contact in your phone, holding it out for him to take.
His hand shook as he grasped the phone, thumb hovering over the call button you knew he'd never have the guts to ever press. A sad smile spread across your face as he stared at the phone, jaw clenched tight as minutes flew by. You knew—and you had accepted it, despite how much it hurts—that whatever you do, it was always going to be Lee Ji Eun for Jungkook. He may love you in some way, but it'll never be the way he loves his girlfriend, and no matter how close you were with him nor no matter what you do, it'll always be her in the end. Never ever you.
You gently pulled the phone away from his grasp, locking and turning it off, "It offends me that you thought I really meant that," you tried to flash him a smile, "Let me let you go, Jeon Jungkook. One of us should at least be happy in this. So, please...just let me,."
"I'm sorry," you blinked back the tears that burned behind your eyes as soon as the words left his mouth. He was letting you.
"For what?" you laughed, rolling your eyes, "You don't have anything to apologize for."
"For making you love me."
"Then, I'm sorry too, Kookie," your heart felt like it was going to burst but you held it all in, this would probably be the last time you'd ever call him that, "I'm sorry for letting myself love you."
And I'm sorry for lying to you just now because I would never ever apologize for loving you.
You see his arm pulling something from his back pocket and once you did, you almost bawled yourself to death. It was your house key—the one he duplicated himself just so he could 'enter your house anytime he liked to either to wake you up, piss you off, or cook for you' and you nearly shoved the key back down his back pockets, sobbing for him not to leave you but you held your ground, receiving the key with steady palms.
"We'll still be friends, right?"
"Of course, you dipshit. Guess we just need some time away from each other. I'll make sure the food you cooked won't go to waste," you grinned—keyword, tried to—"I'll see you around, bunny. Please lock the door when you leave."
Then you were gone, dashing towards your bedroom door to lock yourself in and let yourself drown in your tears and heartbreak as you slid down the door, quietly yet harshly sobbing to yourself until darkness fell, not minding Jimin's footsteps that stopped right outside your bedroom door before walking away quietly.
You suddenly opened the door, probably scaring Jimin to death as he took note of your messy and horrible state, your swollen reddening eyes and your messy hair greeting him along the fact that you were practically crawling on the floor from your dark room—looking exactly like a straight up horror character from a movie.
"You better find me the asshole that's meant for me because I really want to strangle him for not showing up sooner."
You tried to laugh but you knew it only turned out to be a blatant grimace. Jimin sighed, crouching down on your side as you tried to turn away from him before he could see the raging waterfall of tears that slid down yoour face, your silent sobs increasing over time as he pulled you to his chest, muttering a million apologies over and over again.
You didn't know how long you stayed on the ground, engulfed in nothing but Jimin's warmth as he uncomfortably crouched down on the floor where you were perched in, his muscles cramping for the long duration of squatting down with all your weight on him, yet he didn't once complain. He stayed until the sun completely disappeared from the skies, holding you tightly in his arms; afraid that once he freed you from his hold, you'll break once again—the very last thing he wanted to see from you, having enough of seeing you cry over Jeon Jungkook for the longest of time.
"This'll be the last time a tear will fall down those eyes, (Y/N),' he whispered against your hair, "The day you'll cry over him once again will be the time I disappear from here—and that's a long time coming, princess."
