somewhere over the rainbow - bucky barnes x reader
Tumblr media
Plot: After their dinner date, Bucky and Y/N dance together. Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female!Reader Warnings: Mentions of Bucky's past and his anxieties. Other than that, just sickly sweet fluff. As always, if I miss any triggers, please let me know! Notes: Just a little cute thing I wrote for Bucky!! :) like I said, I've been super busy, away and sick so writing wasn't easy for me, but sweet and fluffy Bucky is literally my bread and butter and I love to make him all fluffy, so I HAD TO!! <3
Not beta'd, so any mistakes are my own.
It’s a lovely evening in New York, the sun setting and casting a pinky golden glow across the water. Y/N and Bucky walk hand in hand along the river together, smiling and chatting. They’ve just been for dinner together, a welcome respite from Avengers and real life stuff. Just a night enjoying one another’s company.
Y/N snaps some pictures of the fading sunlight, smiling as she turns back to him. “It’s so beautiful out here.” Bucky takes a moment to take everything about her in. Her beautiful figure, her gorgeous face, her smile, her hair….the way the sunlight casts a golden glow onto her, making her look like a goddess.
God, she’s so beautiful.
He's the luckiest man in the world.
And most of all, he loves the way he wants to kiss her right now, and never come up for air again.
“You’re so stunning. I love you.” Bucky smiles, his voice ever so slightly deeper. He pulls her closer, kissing her passionately. Y/N moans happily, deepening the kiss as her hands go into Bucky’s hair.
~ * ~
After eventually pulling themselves apart, Y/N and Bucky continue their walk down the river. Suddenly, a sound fills the air.
“Somewhere, over the rainbow….” Y/N’s ears perk up, and she pulls Bucky towards the sound. Further down the bank, a crowd surrounds a busker, who’s singing the song. He smiles as he faces the crowd, strumming his guitar. Bucky smiles as Y/N watches, transfixed. He takes her hand, squeezing it as Y/N joins the crowd singing along with the busker. An older couple walks into the middle of the circle, dancing and laughing. Bucky notices Y/N’s gaze turn to the couple, and something deep in his stomach flutters.
He steps out into the circle, holding out his hand to her. When she doesn’t move, he smirks. “Well?” He chuckles, raising a brow.
“Well, what?”
“Are you going to dance with me, darlin’?”
“Are you sure?” She furrows her brow. She loves Bucky Barnes more than life itself. So much so, she wants to shout it from the rooftops. She wants to show him off to everyone, let everyone see the wonderful man she’s with, and just how lucky she is to love him, and to be loved by him.
But Bucky is far more important to her. She knows how hard it’s been for him to adjust to suddenly being so known, and how unwilling he is to be out in public, even after being pardoned. The last thing she wants is to cause him any more pain.
“Darlin’, it’s a beautiful night, and I wanna dance with the most beautiful woman in the world.” He smiles, still holding out his hand. Y/N watches him smile, and her heart soars. Seeing Bucky Barnes laugh is her favourite thing in the world. And the way he smiles at her makes her feel like the most special woman in the world.
Despite the heat already spreading across her cheeks, Y/N chuckles. “The most beautiful woman in the world? She must be pretty special.” She takes his hand, giving it a small squeeze.
“She is.” Bucky agrees. “She’s the best person I know, actually. And she’s my girl.” He even kisses her hand, like a proper gentleman, which has her swooning.
Bucky leads her closer to the singer, pulling her close and placing his hand on her waist as she takes his hand. Honestly, there’s no rhythm or routine to it. Just two people in love spending time together.
“Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly.” Bucky sings softly to her, his sweet, yet husky tone making her smile. He twirls her under his arm, dipping her and keeping a safe grip on her. She swears she’s so full of love for him in that moment that they could burst.
By now, a bigger crowd has formed, and she’s aware of people staring at them and snapping pictures. But honestly, it feels like the pair of them are the only two people in the world. She pulls him closer, kissing him softly.
The song fades out, and the surrounding crowd applauds. Y/N and Bucky bow, laughing. They slip away together, hand in hand.
Off to their next adventure.

Once upon a time, in a fantastical fantasy realm that was akin to a small girl's dream, there lived a princess.
One glorious afternoon, as the gentle glow of the sun shone brightly in the mesmerizing blue sky, a single cottage castle could be seen standing tall in the center of the forest.
A pair of bluebirds then fly upward into view from below, holding a white banner between their beaks that reads 'Princess Clara's Castle' for a moment before taking off, a trail of clear magic dust fluttering behind them.
The castle resembled a standard cottage home, with white and grey stones used for its exterior construction, but what differentiated it from others was its royal structure.
Inside, Princess Clara slept soundly beneath the comfort of her soft and woolly comforter, dreaming a lovely dream as a cozy smile rested upon her soft and tender face.
While the princess continues to sleep, her bedroom door creaks open as a small group of critters from the forest enter inside.
These cute critters consisted of birds, rabbits, deer, chipmunks, squirrels, and raccoons.
The fauna were her companions and inhabited the castle with her.
As the diverse group of animals crowd together closely around Princess Clara's bedside, a doe lightly nuzzles her cheek with her nose in an attempt to gently wake her.
As the princess slowly opens her eyes, she gets a glimpse of her friends surrounding her bed and lets out the gentlest of laughs.
"Good morning, everyone," she softly greets with a yawn and stretches as she turns to look at the time on her handmade wooden wall clock.
"Well, afternoon," Princess Clara corrects herself with a sheepish smile on her face, rubbing the back of her head with one hand.
Although the princess didn't mean to be such a sleepyhead, she could never resist the temptations of her warm bed.
"Who's hungry?" she asked her animal friends, putting aside her embarrassment for now.
"I'll make up for sleeping in so late with some brunch. How does that sound?"
The offer caused the eyes of the critters to light up with joy as they accepted with nods, causing Princess Clara to giggle in her hand as she sat up.
"Then it's settled," she said, stepping out of bed and dancing across her floorboards on her tippy toes toward her closet while she hummed a merry tune.
Princess Clara's feathery companions tweeted the catchy melody of the song with her, their voices harmonizing beautifully.
Two of them flew over to open her closet door for her, helping the princess slip into one of her favorite house dresses while tossing her nightgown into the hamper.
Now dressed for the day, Princess Clara dips and twirls out of her room and into the kitchen, her forest friends happily following behind her.
"Hmm," Princess Clara hummed to herself in thought, tapping her chin with her index finger as she stood in front of her dainty stove, a frying pan sitting on top, as fresh veggies and oil sat on her counter.
Her animal friends, also in the kitchen, were eating their feed of mixed berries that she had prepared for them and placed in pretty porcelain bowls.
"What goes good with fresh veggies?" she whispered.
Tweet, tweet!
Shifting her sights to her open window sill, Princess Clara spots the pair of bluebirds who were holding her banner in the beginning, fluttering over with eggs well wrapped in silk.
The eggs are gently placed on the counter alongside the veggies and oil as the birds took their place on her window sill.
"Oh, eggs! Of course!" Princess Clara exclaims excitedly, finding the answer to her question as she cracks a smile, just like she was planning on cracking those eggs.
"Thank you," the princess told the two birds, who both received gentle rubs to the skin behind their beaks from her as they happily chirped.
With a gentle clearing of her throat, Princess Clara gracefully twirls in place, placing a hand on her chest, and begins to sing lyrics to a theme.
While singing, the princess twirls for a second time, holding out her index finger for one of the bluebirds.
One decides to flap over and step onto it, joining Princess Clara for a lovely duet.
As the caroling continues, the two take turns.
When Princess Clara hits a high note, she allows the bluebird to do the same.
The princess keeps hitting higher and higher notes, and the bluebird struggles to keep up with her.
As the theme comes to a close, Princess Clara hits an ear-piercing high note that causes the bluebird to gradually bloat up and explode.
The princess's eyes widen in shock at this as her animal companions who had witnessed the small explosion gasp.
The room was filled with frightened faces while a deep silence lingered in the air.
"… And there!" Princess Clara said, carefully slipping the small sweater she had knitted with the assistance of her animal friends onto the bluebird who had previously exploded and was now featherless.
The sweater fit like a glove and had a few of his feathers nicely glued on to it.
When the bluebird gazed down at his new outfit, he instantly let out a chirp in delight, hopping in place.
"Yay! He likes it!" Princess Clara cheered brightly, her animal friends joining her.
Placing her index finger under the bluebird's foot, the princess lifts gently as the bird steps onto her finger and proceeds to perch.
She starts to rub her cheek against the side of his face, causing him to chirp softly at the affection.
"I'm so sorry about that," Princess Clara whispered, soft sincerity weaving through her voice.
She believed that his feathers would eventually return over time.
...
Late afternoon, Princess Clara contentedly dusted her wooden organ.
As her flightless animal friends swept the floors with their tails, her winged ones collected flowers in a vase, some of them having to be propped up.
A hummingbird hovered over the pot with a watering can that matched its size between its beak and gently poured a pocket-sized amount of water into the pot.
Upon hearing a brief knock at the door, all those in the cottage stopped their work and gazed forward at the front entrance.
"Oh!" Princess Clara gently went as she set her feather duster down and walked toward the door.
"I wonder who that could be."
Upon opening it, she discovered that no one was present.
"That's strange...," she whispered.
It could have simply been the wind, but Princess Clara saw no signs of it being a windy day.
Setting her sights on the ground, the princess let out a small gasp, bringing a hand to her mouth in sheer wonder.
While gazing downward, her light green eyes glowed with twinkles.
In front of the princess's feet, beautifully bestowed on the ground, was a tiara that was comprised of lightly-colored wood.
The coronet was meticulously carved with so much solicitude and had a heart adorned in the center of it.
Laying alongside the tiara was a bouquet of beautiful flowers that looked to have been hand-picked and a heart-sealed envelope.
After obtaining all three items, Princess Clara returned inside and closed the door.
The flowers were safely placed in the ventilated space of the vase, joining the flowers that were already there, as Princess Clara set the rectangular paper down on the console table and slowly placed the treen tiara on her head.
Her animal friends watched her do so, curiosity shining in their eyes.
"Oh, it fits beautifully!" Princess Clara softly exclaimed, her bright voice bursting with excitement as she clapped her hands and gently jumped in place.
The critters in the cottage cheered in delight at this revelation.
Next, the princess took the envelope, carefully removed the pink wax heart stamp from it, and revealed a letter written on a very silky piece of paper inside.
Princess Clara was completely taken aback by the beautiful text that was perfectly written across the page.
A closer examination from the princess indicated that this was indeed a handwritten letter due to the sheening of the ink.
Princess Clara sat down in a chair and began reading the letter to herself while still making sure her animal friends could hear her, her heart fluttering at every sentence.
Dearest Princess Clara,
Today, I contemplated the magnitude of my love for you and how I've never expressed those passionate feelings that swell inside my soul before.
Thus, I aim to convey my genuine affection for you in this letter.
I vividly remember the day I spotted you wandering around town.
You greeted everyone you encountered with the most endearing smile.
I knew right away that I had to meet you.
I attempted to find the courage to have a conversation with you, but I felt like it wouldn't work out because of my lack of confidence and difference in appearance from everyone else.
I hope to one day be brave enough to meet you in person and properly converse with you.
Eternally, yours,
A secret admirer
The princess's smile remained unwavering after the letter was read.
It warmed her heart greatly to see that someone cared about her so much that they arranged a letter along with florals and a tiara and delivered them to her door.
"Chirp, chirp, twee, twee?" asked one of her birds.
Princess Clara shifted her gaze to the birdie.
"How am I going to meet them?" she repeated the bird's question, an idea forming inside her mind.
"I think I know how."
...
Carpenters from the town lined up from Princess Clara's cottage castle to the forest end, excited by the news that she wanted an exact replica carving of a tiara she had received from a stranger.
They all had crafted tiaras for her to try on in their hands, believing that theirs were identical to hers.
The princess was aware through the details of her diadem that the admirer was proficient in carpentry.
Despite offering a generous currency reward for the replica, her primary goal was to locate her devotee through the long line.
Several tiaras were tried on by her, but none were suitable due to being too big, too small, or incorrectly colored.
Finally, a young man wearing a green cloak and suspenders over his outfit, who was the final contender waiting in line, approached her.
Princess Clara's eyes lit up immediately upon seeing the tiara that he held flat in his hands.
It appeared to be the exact one she had on!
After that, she fixed her gaze on the man's eyes.
His warm chestnut-colored eyes were accompanied by a bright, friendly face, guarded by shy excitement.
"It's you," Princess Clara whispered in amazement, taking the offered tiara and examining it with a keen smile.
She took her tiara off her head and compared the two.
The details matched to a T.
She finally found her admirer.
Setting the handed tiara down and placing hers back on, she asked the man, "Did you really mean what you said in that letter you left at my door?"
The man nodded, a small laugh of delight escaping him as he pulled his hood down, revealing his long golden hair tied perfectly in a ponytail and a set of strangely rounded ears that looked otherworldly.
"Oh, my!" The princess squeaked, causing the man to flush by her surprised reaction and quickly cover his ears with both hands.
"I-I'm sorry!" she quickly apologized.
Now it was her turn to blush as the two both shared red faces.
He was human.
She could have sworn that they only existed in fairy tales.
Regardless, she felt as though her unkind response was highly unnecessary.
"I truly do apologize for my impolite reaction. I've just never seen ears like those before. Are... my ears strange to you?" she asked, cupping both her pointed ears.
The man, gazing at the princess's ears, slowly lowers his hands.
He gives a small nod, hoping not to have offended her with his honesty.
Now stuck in a state of bemusement, they both end up letting out a laugh after seconds of silence.
They then exchange shy smiles as the magic of love leads them to hold each other's left and right hands, interlocking their fingers together.
...
After a time skip, this song begins to play.
Inside Princess Clara's cottage castle, her organ is being cheerfully played by the young man who is now her friend.
She happily claps along to the tune while her animal companions are dancing and do-si-do-ing with each other.
In the evening, the two engage in a slow waltz together by a small lake, gentle smiles on their faces as they step and spin.
Upon nightfall, the pair sit side by side with their legs criss-crossed in front of the same lake under a flowering tree while peacefully observing the fishes inside the water who spurt water trickles from their lips.
Love was literally present in the air as those trickles took on the shape of hearts.
When the princess lets out a sigh, she slowly leans her head against the man's shoulder as he looks down at her with a soft smile.
Leaning down, he presses a kiss on her forehead, and a light show of fireflies appear around the couple, forming a massive heart around them.
A swarm of fireflies then fly by, and the scene transitions to a snowy winter wedding taking place in a meadow as Princess Clara and the man, now her husband, are joined in matrimony.
After the groom and bride's lips meet, the wedding guests, Princess Clara's animal companions, cheer as flower petals and confetti are merrily whisked into the air.
After taking their first steps together into a new life down a small staircase, the newlyweds began their walk down the aisle, approaching their awaiting carriage, which was entirely made of gingerbread and decorated with frosting and various colorful candies.
Princess Clara's husband opens the carriage door for her with a gentlemanly bow, and she curtsies to him to show her appreciation before entering.
After both partners are aboard the cookie-candy carriage, it begins riding off into the woods as the animals wave them goodbye with hankerchiefs.
...
The carriage arrives at a large gingerbread house.
Being the first to step out of the carriage, Princess Clara's husband helps his new bride out bridal style.
Trying to enter the open entrance of the house with his wife, the husband bumps into its sides.
He makes another attempt to get in, but the outcome remains the same.
It seems that he and the princess are too big to fit through the small entrance.
However, an idea comes to the husband's mind as he positions himself sideways.
The initial plan was to go inside that way, but he ended up simply walking forward with great force, causing minor damage to the sides of the cookie house when he finally managed to get inside.
Gently lowering his beloved down, the two are about to lean in for a kiss when suddenly a mistletoe on a string comes between them from the ceiling, making the romantic moment even better.
This causes the couple to giggle as they continue leaning forward. Just as they are about to kiss, the solid chocolate bar door of the house shuts on its own.
The words "The End" are displayed on the door in pink frosting with a heart around it as the medieval melody comes to an end.
Their honeymoon was going to be wonderful as well as the rest of their days together.

To Fly is to Fall
On a rooftop above the city Only can look up to the sun Brightest blues surrounding me Fingertips brushing the clouds
I want to capture this moment for you             with you
The feather of a wing tickles my arm A bluebird lands on the ledge Daring me to sit with her
Tentative steps towards the edge Displaying more fear than the bird My feet dangle over the side
Freedom follows fear
When the bird leaps from the ledge My heart drops further than she Spreads her wings before the crash             and flies                         daring me to follow
My arms cannot hold my weight My bones are not hollow My skin cannot act as feathers
If I fall I may not fly
Still, she lures me further off the edge Promising excitement and liberation She does not guarantee a soft landing Or the absence of a crash
She simply displays the thrill of falling
While I do not leap from the building I hold a blue feather in my fingers And call you Promise to pick you up on my way home

Young Lex!
Thank you for the ask!! 💗I loved the idea of this fic, I wish I was actively working on it. But it's basically a Smallville AU, "Lex dies in 2008. Clark doesn't deal well. Flash forward to 2020 he finds a 15-yr old clone of Lex Luthor". So here's the opening scene!
May 2008 - Luthor Mansion Smallville, Ks
If you stayed on the roads, without cutting across Potter’s field, and then Sutton’s land, it was a two mile walk from the Kent Farm to the Luthor Mansion. Clark could make the run in less than a minute, and it was even faster to fly. But today, it would take him forty minutes.
He could, and maybe should, have taken the truck. But the sun was high and hot in the bluebird sky, the field grass was tall (green stalks with rusty brown fingers), and the air was filled with the sounds of Petefish’s tractor planting his back field along Elk Creek. It would be soybeans, since last year he’d planted corn. All of this filled the quiet minutes of the walk, and Clark thought of his father, of riding around on the tractor in his lap; he thought of his old favorite calf Cookie, her silky brown nose and the giant fans of her eyelashes.  He thought of Lex. And then tried to push it away because in a few minutes, that would be all he could think about. The rest of the day was dedicated to slogging around the trenches of memory, dim and murky, and corrosively bitter.  The air rumbles and Clark ambles off to the side of the road where the gravel is banked up; the road is narrow so he’s practically standing in the ditch when the silver Jeep Compass slows, crunching to a stop.  “Can I give you a ride?”  Lucas Luthor (or, Clark’s not sure what name he’s going by these days) squints through the lowered window. He hasn’t changed much, but he does look older; hair softer and a bit thinner, no gel. He’s softer in the face, too, less wary around the eyes. Clark kicks gravel over the toe of his boot. “I was gonna walk.”   “I think Tess is already there. She’s probably waiting. She is. Clark can hear her, almost a mile away, speaking on her phone with a paper thin voice. Clark nods and goes around to the passenger door. The lock clicks over and he climbs in. The air conditioning is on low, and the car smells new. Probably a rental. “We just flew in last night. I left Amanda at the hotel, I figured... I dunno. I didn’t want to bring anybody. It didn’t seem right, I guess.” Clark nods, elbow propped in the open window as they crunch slowly along, not kicking up much dust. “Amanda’s my wife,” Lucas clarifies. Band of gold on his left hand, curled up under his temple. His right hand held the bottom of the wheel loosely, keeping the speedometer under forty; Clark wondered when that particular Luthorian impulse had evaporated, why it had stayed with Lex till the end, what it meant that it had. Probably nothing. “I dunno, it’s not like he’d care. It doesn’t...” It doesn’t matter. Clark stares out the window, at the first peek of the elm trees at the end of the drive.  “We talked a lot, the past few years, you know. Not so much this year, actually. But the past few, we’d talk every month. Sometimes every week. He did a lot for me. Helped me get on my feet, kept Dad’s people away. He kept trying to move me around, but then I met Amanda in Knoxville, and I told him, I don’t give a fuck what Dad thinks he can try. I found the girl I’m going to spend the rest of my life with, I’m staying here. He told me she must be a hell of a girl. Asked if she had a sister.” He grins over at Clark, looks away when Clark doesn't summon a smile back.  “Anyway. Thanks for coming today, Clark.” “It’s fine.” Clark has to clear his throat. He hasn’t talked a whole lot the past few days, except to his mother once, and Tess on the phone a couple of times; and then only barely, he’d mostly listened. “Just...want to get it over with.” “Right,” Lucas nods. “Yeah.” They turn into the driveway, and the elms stretch upward with the slow rise of the hill, the stony crown of the highest turret rising into view.  The past becomes present.

Tumblr media
I’m on the roof, you're in your airplane seat
I was nose-bleeding, looking for life out there
Reading your horoscope, you were just doing cocaine
In my kitchen, you never listen, I hope you're missing me by now
The sky bursts into pastel yellow, pink, and orange as the sun slowly starts to sink behind the trees. Your back is pressed to the wooden slats of the picnic table, Eddie snug against you. The table sits along the edge of Lover’s Lake, fixed in the sand on the makeshift beaches. It’s one of Eddie’s favorite places to come and think; usually he would watch the sunset alone and question all life’s choices, but now that he has you, there’s no one he would rather be next to. You keep your eyes fixed on the ever changing sky, watching the colors melt into each other perfectly. There’s a comfortable silence between you and Eddie as you both simply enjoy each other's company during the sunset. Occasionally, Eddie’s hands find yours, pulling them towards his chest and playing with your fingers. His cool silver rings run across your skin, causing goosebumps to grow on your arms. Every time Eddie notices them he grins like crazy, knowing that he has that effect on you. The high you both have from Eddie’s stash is beginning to wear off the longer you stare into the sky. Getting high with Eddie is not usually planned, but every time you smoke together you find yourself missing the feeling. Not necessarily the high-feeling, but the carefree nature and life you lead while this way. You two waste hours on a picnic table simply because you want to. Besides you feel like all of your limbs have gone weightless and you’ve now melted into Eddie. There’s no way I’m moving now, it’s impossible. I’ve completely become one with the sand on this beach. Your mind spins as you lay leaning on Eddie.
As the sun starts to set faster, the air changes with a quick drop in temperature. Mindlessly, you find yourself snuggling closer to Eddie for warmth. He never says anything about you always being so close to him because the truth is he lives for it. If he could keep you against him at all times he would. Eddie turns his head slightly, just enough to catch a glimpse of you; he doesn’t want to disturb you as you take in the scene around you, but he can’t help but admire your beauty, too. He wants to take a picture of how you look right now so he can keep it forever because the memory is not nearly enough. Yet, he thinks, I don’t think a camera could capture this beauty accurately anyways. His eyes continue to scan down the shape of your face, Eddie licks his lips subconsciously as his eyes stop on yours. He misses the way your mouth feels on his. Even if it’s only been a couple of minutes since he last tasted you, it’s been too long. He wonders if you feel this way about him. This all consuming, I-miss-you-even-when-you’re-next-to-me type of love. I hope you’re missing me by now, Eddie’s mind aches for your attention. He swears you read his mind, or feel him staring, because in that moment you turn your cheek to face him. A gentle smile pulls at your lips as you too start to admire the way he looks tonight. He’s angelic. You conclude after looking at him for a mere second. No matter how many dates like this you two have gone on during the last year of your relationship, you still find new things to adore about Eddie.
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You'd be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you
At least four small birds pass overhead, chirping as they cut through the pink skies headed back to their nests. Other animals scurry in the woods just a few steps away, but nothing else matters at this moment besides you, Eddie, and the sunset. Two other birds follow shortly behind the pack ahead of them and you giggle as they pass by, “You think those birds are in love like we’re in love?”
“Gross,” Eddie matches your giggle. He fully turns his face to meet your eyes.
“So, yes?” You pull your intertwined hands from Eddie’s chest and place them on yours. You take one hand from inside of Eddie’s and use it to trace shapes onto the back of Eddie’s hands.
“Yeah, I guess,” Eddie sighs, acting defeated; however he knows he would answer a million of your hypothetical questions if it meant he could stay here all day on this table with you. “Because, if I- if I was a bluebird, I would fly to you.” Eddie cringes slightly at his own sappy words. It has to be the corniest line he’s ever used with you, but seeing the giddy smile on your face makes it all worth it. You break into a laughing fit. “Gross,” you finally choke out.
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight
Daylight, you got me calling at all times
Ain't gonna sleep 'til the daylight
The sun has long disappeared, stars and constellations covering the vast sky above you. Steady, small waves from the lake rush into the sand a few feet from the picnic table. The lull of crashing waves creates perfect white noise when combined with the chirps of crickets in the grass. Your head rests against Eddie’s chest now, your right arm over top of him as he runs his fingers up and down your back. Your eyes scan over all the stars above you before turning to Eddie. His gaze remains fixed on the sky as if it’s the most fascinating thing he’s ever seen. Mindlessly, you press a kiss to the side of his rib cage which catches Eddie’s attention. His eyes flick away from the sky and down to you, flashing you a tight lipped smile. You look back to the sky and raise your arm up to point at the far left side, “see that?”
“Yeah I see the stars, sweetheart.” Eddie chuckles into your hair.
“No,” you roll your eyes. “See that really bright star over there? To the left of the moon?” Eddie nods against you, “that’s actually not a star, it’s the planet Venus…and if you continue in that line it’s Saturn and Jupiter too.”
“How do you know that?” Eddie asks and you can practically hear his smile. His cool hands smooth out your hair.
“Some of us actually pay attention in Mr. Clarke’s class,” you trail off, eyes fixed on the stars. “Besides, I like all this stuff. I could stare at the night sky for hours, it’s so beautiful.” You tilt your face up again to look at him, and when you do Eddie is already looking down at you.
“So beautiful,” he echos, brushing your hair off of your neck. You rest your weight on your elbow on the picnic table, you mirror Eddie’s movements and brush his hair away from his face.
“So beautiful,” you smile back at him. Eddie keeps his hand on your neck as he nudges you forward. You lean down close to his mouth, whispering the words against his lips: “my beautiful boy.” Eddie feels his heart actually stop for a moment before it’s rapidly beating out of his chest again. He pulls you as close as humanly possible, his lips melting into yours as you feel Eddie softly moan. You tug his bottom lip gently between your teeth, releasing it carefully and placing an open mouth kiss on it. You move your mouth from his and trail featherlight kisses across his jaw, cheekbones and to the soft skin that connects Eddie’s neck and jaw. Eddie’s eyes close again, he focuses solely on how your mouth feels against his skin. The way you feel against him, the way he feels, he’s convinced he can feel every cell in his body while under your touch. Eddie runs his hands down through your hair and cups your sides. Goosebumps rise on your skin again from the movement of his hands. Eddie grins widely, his eyes crinkling in the smile; I don’t ever want to leave this moment, Eddie thinks. You press one last kiss to Eddie’s cheek before leaning back to look at him.
“Can we stay here all night? I don’t want to go home yet,” you ask timidly. Eddie senses your nerves and his mind races as to how you could ever think he would say ‘no’ to you.
“We don’t have to go anywhere,” Eddie mummers, continuing to run his fingers over your skin. “I’m not moving until that sun comes back up.”
“Fuck the sun,” your words come out slowly, the peak of your high beginning to fade. “Fuck the daylight. I want to stay here forever.”
You slowly melt back into Eddie’s side on the table top; the cool wood slowly seems less comfortable, but you wouldn’t dare move from this moment. Eddie’s laughter fills the air around you as he pulls your body even closer to him.
“Sweetheart,” Eddie’s eyes linger on yours. “Cursing the daylight? Really? Has that worked before?” You groan in response, your mouth open as you sigh. Eddie kisses the top of your head and lets you fall into a sleep-like state. His eyes feel heavy, but he refuses to take his gaze off of the sky. His focus remains on the planets you spotted not too long ago and his subconscious is sure to be on guard and protect your sleeping body. Fuck the daylight, he thinks while running his index finger over your cheekbone.
Out of New York, I'm on the comedown speed
We're on bicycles, saying, "There's life out there"
You got the antidote, I'll take one to go, please
Get the picture, cut out my middle
You ain't got time for me right now
Slowly opening your heavy eyelids, you find yourself still tangled with Eddie on a now much more uncomfortable table than when you fell asleep. The sky appears to be gaining its lightness back, but the moon and stars still shine in the deep sky. Slowly sitting up you feel Eddie shift next to you, “welcome back, my love.”
His pointer finger runs a perfect line down your spine. You shake your legs out on the bench making them feel less melted than before. Carefully you stand from the table trying to get your balance back. Eddie sits up with an arm out for you to use as a crutch. Eddie eventually swings his legs over the edge of the table, planting his sneakers on the connected bench. He watches you intently as you come back to him, standing perfectly between his knees. Eddie's fingers brush through your hair again, it’s like he’s acting on impulse. He can’t stop himself from always touching you in some way. It’s like his entire life he’d been dragging by looking for something greater; Eddie felt like he was slowly being poisoned by this town, his life, everything…but you? You got the antidote. You find the good in him. You bring him peace. You allow him to watch the stars all night until sunrise without feeling useless. Eddie pulls your lips to his, his mouth is needy as it devours yours. He’s gentle with you, always, but now you can feel his urgency to hold you. You wrap your forearms around his neck, your fingertips gently grazing his hair. Eddie moans into your mouth, sucking on your bottom lip carefully before releasing it. You pull away from him, taking a step back as your hands drag across Eddie’s shoulders. “C’mon,” you leave your left hand out for Eddie to take. He hops off the table and pulls your hand into his. As the two of you begin your walk back to his van, Eddie brings your clasped hands to his mouth, kissing the back of your hand repeatedly.
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You'd be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you
It seems to take forever to get back to Eddie’s van, but neither of you complain about the trip. You both would walk the perimeter of Lover’s Lake ten times if it meant the night would never end. Eddie caresses the back of your hand with his ring covered fingers, your free arm latched to his forearm. Your head is tilted just enough to rest on the edge of his arm as you walk. Even though your high is fading, you still feel like you could melt into Eddie. His presence is just so soothing it makes it hard to focus when you’re around him. You wish you could just dip yourself in honey so you could stick to Eddie whenever you wanted to. Your brain has practically become a puddle after your high and being around Eddie for so long. “You okay?“ Eddie asks after you’ve been quiet for a while. He stops in his tracks and turns to you; his eyes take you in as you’re still clinging to his arm like a helpless koala. He presses a kiss to your head and you both continue to walk back to the van. It feels like only a couple more steps before you hear Eddie digging in his pocket for the keys. He unlocks the van, the headlights flashing on as he does. The sky is getting brighter now, even more than when you first started the trip back to the car. You pull your head away from Eddie and look back at the sky. Eddie moves from your side only for a moment, as he pulls open the passenger side door. You groan as you hop inside the van, reluctantly ready to go home. You don’t want to leave this perfect escape from the world. You don’t want the sunrise to come and signal another messy day. You just want to stay away from that reality and stay here with Eddie. For however long you can. You stare at the trees just beyond the windshield when you feel the van shift as Eddie enters. You turn to face him, your eyes meeting each other again.
“I know, but we have to go home.” Eddie cups your cheek, leaning across the center to press a kiss to your forehead.
Daylight, you got me calling at all times
Ain't gonna sleep 'til the daylight
Daylight, you got me cursing the daylight
If I was a bluebird, I would fly to you
You'd be the spoon
Dip you in honey so I could be sticking to you
The sun finally makes its return as it cracks through the tree line surrounding the roads. Eddie drives with one hand on the wheel and the other playing with your thigh. He hums the melody of a song the entire drive, sometimes even playing the cords on your skin. You try to memorize the feeling in your chest and on your skin. You watch Eddie’s hands as he squeezes your leg gently. His rings are cool on your bare thigh causing goosebumps to scatter across your skin again. Eddie chuckles softly as he feels the raised skin under his fingers. You sigh, sliding across the center of the bench to sit even closer to him, “the effect you have on me, Munson.”
“Believe me I’ve got it worse,” he rolls his eyes playfully. “You have me saying some weird shit. You got me cursing the daylight, looking for planets in the sky, and wishing I was a bluebird so I could fly to you.” You feel yourself grinning at his words. You press a quick kiss to his cheek.
“I love you,” you mumble as you settle against Eddie. He glanced away from the road just for a moment to flash you a wide smile. His hand squeezes your thigh again lovingly. “I love you,” Eddie responds, his voice filled with affection and warmth.
Eddie pulls into the gravel in front of his trailer just as the sun sits back in a normal position to signal to the rest of the world that the day has started. Eddie leans down to look closely at the sun through the dashboard, “So I guess cursing the daylight didn’t work, huh?” He turns to you with a grin.
You try to suppress a yawn, “yeah, well I guess we’ll just have to try tomorrow.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀HOUSES ── opal
Tumblr media
Okhasis Prepatory School for Promising Mages is a prestigious institution that trains its students in the ways of magic, weapons, and other talents. Most notable is its housing system modeled after the six divine warriors.
In the beginning of their first year, students select the house which best suit their interests. In addition to basic classes, a student's house will decide their course of studies and seating arrangements during school-wide events such as the Beauty Festa or Grand Magic Games.
While it is tradition for students to remain with the house they pick until graduation, no child stays the same for six years, therefore it is encouraged for students to switch houses as they deem appropriate.
ㅤ──────────────────────────
I. CECILIA
The House of Cecilia, built in Irene's likeness, is focused on restoration and harnessing the powers of the natural world. Although Cecilia students are often perceived as feeble healers, the top alumni are capable of releasing the untamed wrath of nature—twisting briars to spring from the ground to ensnare enemies, summoning rain clouds to smother the flames of a fire, and restoring life to its former glory. Much like the Mother Goddess herself, Cecilia graduates become indispensable in the domains of combat or humanitarian aid.
The House of Cecilia's distinguishing color is lavender and it's emblem is a closed eye shedding five tears.
II. SOLEIL
The House of Soleil, built in Esmund's likeness, is dedicated to safeguarding and purging impurities. Soleil students are taught how to cast counterspells, create magical barriers, dispel or resist magic, and are generally known for their defensive nature. Most Soleil graduates intend on pursuing knighthood to protect their homeland or a position in the Ministry of Protection. As such, the House of Soleil is known for adopting a code of chivalry and promoting peace among the other houses.
(Although students from sister houses will often grumble," Soleil is really just the House of No." Inflicting damage? No. Buffs on allies? No. Magical restraints? No. Having fun on campus? No.)
The House of Soleil's distinguishing color is gold and it's emblem is a radiant sun.
III. VERENA
The House of Verena, built in Enki's likeness, is dedicated to unveiling the truths of the world. One distinctive feature of Verena is that its students are not required to expend mana, the magical energy that powers spells. Instead, Verena students are taught the occult disciplines of alchemy, runes, and divination.
Students are encouraged to blend their magic with traditional research and experimentation, resulting in alchemical bombs, the ability to read others' emotions, instantly appraising objects, and creating potions capable of altering reality. Verena graduates often pursue a greater career in academia or research institutions.
The House of Verena's distinguishing color is sea green and it's emblem is ouroboros.
IV. ASTORIA
The House of Astoria, built in Kul'zak's likeness, is centered on augmentation, a magical power that enables its practitioner to link their magic or imbue an object with magical essence. Despite the fact that Astoria students frequently lack the raw fighting prowess of their sister houses, their utility provides a huge boon. Students have the ability to enchant common weapons to give them magical powers, animate puppets to serve as servants, or enhance an ally's abilities beyond their normal capabilities.
Astoria graduates typically pursue a broad variety of occupations, much like the traveling divine warrior himself, although a sizable percentage have achieved success in the field of Magitek, magically enhanced technology.
The House of Astoria's distinguishing color is ultramarine and their emblem is a flying bluebird.
V. IRAE
The House of Irae, built in Menphia's likeness, places a strong emphasis on cultivating its students' innate magical powers. As opposed to its sister houses, which must obey the rules of nature, draw their magic from elsewhere, or dispel it entirely, students in the House of Irae are able to manifest the elements based on their natural affinity.
While a Verena's alchemically produced fireball will naturally fizzle out without material, the flame of an Irae student will continue to burn until its caster dismisses it. Irae pupils make up for their lack of variety with powerful, concentrated magical blasts, and their ranks are frequently seen in the militia of the knights.
The House of Irae's disgusting color is ruby and their emblem is a blazing flame.
VI. LUCINE
The House of Lucine, built in Shad's likeness, is the most controversial of the houses for its unique ability to manipulate the human body. Lucine students are trained to slow or accelerate heartbeats, influence their opponents' minds, possess bodies, and even control their own blood. Given the lethal nature of their study, Lucine students are frequently isolated from the rest of the student body and subject to strict regulations, though many worried parents have argued that this is insufficient.
When pressed why these pupils are still permitted to attend school, the headmaster responded that Lucine is no different from Cecilia, for both draw their power from life itself. Although many join their Soleil and Irae siblings in knighthood or even Cecilia in medical fields, the fate of Lucine graduates is largely sporadic.
The House of Lucine's disgusting color is silver and their emblem is an eclipsed moon

Come along, My Friend
youtube
"I will always love you How I do Let go of a prayer for you Just a sweet word The Table is prepared for you" - Frank Ocean's "Godspeed" from the album blond
I did not do the laundry today your new dress has been dragged to the center of the bedroom Little slept upon it when she finally tired of chasing her brother I'll tell you about it later I worry about telling you about it And if the clouds are gray I did not find a job today there sits an empty bottle of my medication on my desk, next to a candy wrapper I decided I wanted the same tattoo as you The one we promised each other The one we spoke out loud for all to hear Please I would imprint you onto my soul if I could I would print money if I could I can do more I will clean my desk I thought of you today every day, without regret, or hesitation, with an earnest fleeting grace "Just a sweet word" I do We chose to brand our love beneath the flesh instead of on top You are my sunshine my only sunshine I saw you in my dreams I see you in my dreams I dreamt of you From that first night I've been chasing the sun Godspeed I chase the sun And if you see my reflection In the rain And if the clouds are gray Please Come along, my friend Even the night is blessed by the light of the sun Even mountains can crumble to the sea Just as long as you stand, stand by me You told me one day my lungs will be pink again Next month is Christmas I will find a way to make it a memorable one for you You always have for me You got my grandfather's guitar back And I have you What more could I want Icarus could have stretched upon the moon Could have danced beside the memory Could have sung under the light Could have started a religion and preached to the stars Icarus could have could have "The Table is prepared for you" Israel sung that somewhere Way up high Bluebirds fly I saw you there You came true And the dream that you dare to And I think it's gonna be a long, long time Why, oh why can't I? Three weeks now and I already breath better So I will capture you a trophy I will fly amongst the stars and pluck you a gift with ribbon and string And I think it's gonna be a long, long time But I can do better And I will, you know But when we do And I think it's gonna be a long, long time When we look upon the light of the golden hour Stand by me Hand in mine Come along, my friend Godspeed

Altered - Epilogue 7
Author: Akira
Characters: Eichi, Natsume
Translator: Mika Enstars
"HeY, Sakasaki Natsume. Your eyes are open properLY, rigHT?"
Season: Winter
Location: OO Stage (fine-O)
⚠️ This is an import from a unproofed Twitter Livetweet!
Tumblr media
Eichi: History repeats itself.
The first time it is a tragedy, the second time it is a comedy.
No matter how serious the content is, if the same thing is demonstrated, it will become apathetic.
Continue the same thing many times over, and there will be a dry laugh.
Sakasaki-kun, you might not intend it, but we really are similar.
Although you may see me now as an immeasurably huge, abominable monster, now.
But, at that time, my young self saw you all—the Five Eccentrics, as the very same thing.
A mighty foe that would crush me if I were to get too close.
Because I was frightened and intimidated to desperation, I grew thorns, and attacked you excessively.
I tried crushing you using more violence and malice than was necessary.
In doing so, I destroyed even what I should have loved and cherished.
It feels it should be a mistake how we’re even able to get together again and laugh with each other like this.
We had parted ways so fatally.
You and I are alike.
However, I do not want you to make the same mistakes I did. I know it sounds hypocritical, but I mean that with sincerity.
I had envied you all.
I wanted to become like you all.
Despite this, I had gained something just as precious as you had before I knew it.
And I let it go, without having ever realized it.
I’ve always regretted it.
How is it? Is this farce of mine funny?
Just look around me. This is all that I let fall. They were such a bright and dazzling pure white, but I didn’t see them at all.
Hiyori-kun, Nagisa-kun.
Tsumugi.
And everyone from fine, who resonated with and spread their wings together with me.
Because I was flying out in the lead, and couldn’t see anything when I looked down, I allowed them to keep getting lost.
And so in order to reach our destination, an idol-like stage where we can laugh together—so many detours had to be made.
I want you to learn from my foolishness, Sakasaki-kun.
Don’t make the same mistakes that I did. You’re a proper idol—You should create a shining stage that brings about happy laughter, not one of ridicule.
Beside you is the bluebird that I released back then.
You mustn’t ever let it go.
Get along as best as possible, and live happily ever after together.
For eternity, like a fairy tale.
Only then will you have finally rise victorious over me.
And I wouldn’t regret it too much, either.
Tumblr media
Eichi: Right now, I have the most magnificent, most beautiful bird in the world by my side.
That happy youth, that bluebird, will never be mine again.
I mourn that fact.
I mourn it deeper and heavier than the final stage of the war.
And I’ll mourn it for the rest of my life.
That will be my punishment.
There’s no need for you to dirty your own hands, boy.
"♪~♪~♪"
Location: OO Stage (Altered)
Tumblr media
Natsume: Tenshouin Eichi, -senpai… He’s looking at me distastefulLY.
He’s like a smug parent entrusting their own dreams into their child’s hanDS.
You’re not my parenT, not a brothER, and definitely nothing like famiLY.
The first such precious friends I found outside of my famiLY… Were those that you mercilessly trampled to deaTH.
That’s why I lived my life hating yOU.
BuT, I couldn’t see the reality behind iT.
To pity and feel bad for my niisans, was like making a fool of them without understanding thEM.
HeY, Sakasaki Natsume. Your eyes are open properLY, rigHT?
I’m not sure if you’re seeing anythiNG.
Rei-niisan.
Shu-niisan, Kanata-niisan, Wataru-niisan.
I was the one who couldn’t see my beloved Five Eccentrics more than anyone elSE.
But, right now I can see my niisans clearLY.
And they’re shining so brightLY, like the sUN.
Tumblr media
Natsume: I had immersed myself up to my head in ignorant darkneSS. I might’ve been the only one who thought such thinGS.
I was just covering my eyES. I had been dreaming this entire tiME, looking away from this realiTY.
BuT, I’m awake nOW…
This tiME, I’ll open my eyes and face this realitY.
Life is a performaNCE.
And right nOW, I’m standing on the stage of oNE.
If I dance with my eyes closED, it’ll be dangeroUS, you knOW.

3/23/23: Spring has sprung. There have been turtles sunning on logs, and frogs singing all kinds of songs. Wood frogs and peepers who are so loud and then shut up immediately when you walk near. Bluebirds all over. Lots of geese flying overhead honking away. Water rushing in all the creeks and cricks and spillways.
I love how this wall has a hole that has some greenery spilling forward. That's how it is right now, the deluge of spring's green is pushing through this small hole and soon the wall of gray will crumble and the green will overcome.

Over the Rainbow
.

Someplace where there isn't any trouble...
...do you suppose there is such a place, toto?
There must be. it's not a place you can get to by a boat or a train.
It's far, far away...
Behind the moon
Beyond the rain
Somewhere, over the rainbow, way up high,
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly,
Birds fly over the rainbow,
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow,
Why oh why can't I?
Reprise cut from the movie
(Judy sang this reprise in the witch's castle)
Someday I’ll wake and rub my eyes,
And in that land beyond the skies you'll find me.
I'll be a laughing daffodil
And leave the silly cares that fill
My mind behind me.
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow,
Why oh why can't I?
When all the world is a hopeless jumble
And the raindrops tumble all around,
Heaven opens a magic lane.
When all the clouds darken up the skyway,
There's a rainbow highway to be found,
Leading from your window pane.
To a place behind the sun,
Just a step beyond the rain.
Somewhere over the rainbow way up high,
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby,
Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
Someday I’ll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me,
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
Away, above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,
Why oh why can't I?
(Songwriter: Jerry Gray)

A fun piece.
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Synopsis
(They'll be no more sneak peeks for the chapter after this. My next goal going forward is to get chapter 3 out! <3 Enjoy! ❤️)
Now dressed for the day, Princess Clara dips and twirls out of her room and into the kitchen, her forest friends happily following behind her.
...
Horrified looks filled the room.
...
"... And there!" Princess Clara said, carefully slipping the small sweater she had knitted with the assistance of her animal friends onto the bluebird who had previously exploded and was now featherless.

"Bluebird" by The Electric Light Orchestra
The streets, the signs are pointing all one way But you don't realize just what they say You may fight, you may run, you may know what you've done It makes me feel so sad to think what I might've had I watch the stars, I watch the sun, now I watch for anyone But it's only make believe You work, you work, you work so hard and then Someone, someone will come around again You may think it's for real, but you know how you feel The places that I go don't feel good anymore I see it all rainbows in fall I see her face upon my wall But it's only make believe Fly away, bluebird fly away for me To a place somewhere far across the sea Fly away, far away, don't look back, go today The waves that crash upon the sand Another place, a far off land And every day, I have to stay, but you are free You could fly away- But it's only make believe

Random ass Yamori fic I wrote at 2am
(Song Inspo.: “Sansevieria” by Green-House)
(Meme Bellow: Made by me lol. Just felt like they had the same energy)
*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
The hazy glow of the bright sun and the chirping of birds engulfed everything, casting a nostalgic hue across the flowers, and grass. It was like listening to music from nature. A warm breeze made him exhale lightly, looking down to see a figure looking up at him. A wide smile, warm skin, and happy eyes were all he could focus on. Gods, they’re beautiful. He brought up his large hand to cup their face and they nuzzled their face into his touch lovingly. So warm… So happy to see him.
Arms wrap around his neck as he feels their tight embrace. For once he hugs back. He savors every second and every detail. Their hair, the way they smell, the bluebird flying overhead. They detach from him slightly and giggle.
“I love you.” Is said in a warm and loving tone. A tone matched only by his mother’s. As he opens his mouth to say it back he shoots up.
He’s greeted by a dark and cold room. His room. Yamori sighs and leans back. He hated dreaming because of things like this. Between the nothing and the nightmares, there was things like this. Strange happy moments or seemingly useless memories of the past. He didn’t like it. It made him think about the feelings that came with them. Hopefully this time as he lays down to sleep, he won’t think of bluebirds.
