I have seen a lot of people say that in s3 Crowley will be sulking and depressed while Muriel, Nina and Maggie will try to help him. Like they will kinda have a found family thing going on. And while i see that happening.
I also want let Crowley be angry. I want to see him go batshit
I see it going like this:
The first days or weeks (or even months) after Aziraphale left Crowley does sulk and drink himself into oblivion. No body sees him for weeks. Until one evening when he is looking into the sky he decides fuck it. Because "Clearly that angel doesn't give a shit about me, so why should i give a shit about him"
And from there it goes downhill. Crowley now does all the shit hell wants him to do and more. Drugs, drinking, smoking, tempting, bribery, getting into bar fights, tormenting, hooking up with every third person he sees, becoming an genuine asshole and every other shity thing a demon can do. Basically leading the most self destructive lifestyle that would have had a human dead within a month. But lucky him since human mortality doesn't apply to him.
He will let that hot anger consume him and motivate him to do more and more shity things. His goal will be to become unrecognisable from the Crowley he was.
Perhaps he will also get a new hairstyle (one he haven't had before) and then change the Bentley into a modern hot red sport car and change his whole closet.
Perhaps after a while one night he will pull up to the bookshop (he haven't seen it in months) and Nina (she stayed late at work) won't even recognize him at first, but when she does she is relieved to finally see him! But that's until he pulls out a fuel can and walks inside the bookshop.
Muriel would of course would be there, but a quick miracle would probably knock them out. Then he is spilling the fuel everywhere and with a snap of his fingers everything is burning. I totally see him smirking while saying:
"You where right angel, nothing lasts for ever"
Aziraphale at some point finds out about this and goes down to earth first time in months, and he is mad.
When they meet Crowley blames Aziraphale for the bookshop burning down and every other bad thing Crowley had done so far, "because if you hadn't left i wouldn't have done it". That makes Aziraphale go from mad to pissed. Everything escalates from there and now things between them are even worse. They are both very angry and blame the other for everything.
Perhaps, perhaps not things get violent or/and other people get involved

Kamisato Ayato x Reader
Tumblr media
I got sick while making this so if some scenes/parts just don't make sense I apologize No, I'm definitely not using my sickness as an excuse for my bad writing
WARNINGS: !!Mentions of Y/Ns mental state!! (Only once at the start) Super ooc, bad grammar, profanity, and full of nonsense
Words: 1484
Part 1, Part 2 (You’re here!)
Tumblr media
It’s been a few months since you left the estate
You still haven’t received any news about Ayato's return, which makes you slightly worried, but hey, at least these past few months, your mental health has gotten better
No Ayato = no unnecessary drama = peace = better mental state
Tumblr media
Your shop has been doing well
The old regulars are now back and happily buying the things they needed but couldn't get due to the market price
Everything is back to normal
Tumblr media
Yeah, no. It isn't completely back to normal
You have quite the reputation and even have multiple names. One popular name is "Two-faced Demon"
Why? There have been rumors circulating that you talked badly about Ayato, your spouse, around others while remaining an innocent doll around Ayato and vice versa
And due to your not-so-favorable reputation, you sometimes get some unwanted customers that want to ruin your business
Thankfully, though, you have some reliable friends that keep unwanted customers out
But even that has downsides
Some people are now wary of your shop and refuse to even look in the same direction as your shop when they pass by it, as they might suddenly get attacked by being an “unwanted customer”. It's pretty stupid to do, but it’s best to be cautious, right?
Reopening the shop has helped you, sure, but even that becomes stressful
It’s hard to manage it all by yourself, and you surely can’t leave it all alone when you go adventuring in the near future
And so you came up with a solution to reduce the overwhelming stress and future problems concerning the shop. Hire employees!
With the help of Thoma and Ayaka, you managed to scout a few trustworthy people who’re perfect for the job
All of them are quick learners and hard workers, which is perfect! With only a few more pieces of guidance, you can peacefully leave everything in their capable hands
Tumblr media
Two months passed quickly, and everyone can now handle everything by themselves, even without your presence
Li Hua, in particular, is quite the master at her job.
You won’t have any lingering worries with her taking care of everything there
And with that, you’re all ready to go back to adventuring!
Tumblr media
“Leaving already?”
“Hm? Oh! Heizou, yup! The unsolved mysteries out there are calling out to me."
“Oh really?”
“I can hear it whispering, “Y/N~ Y/N~~ Come solve this mysterious ancient puzzle!””
“Puzzles..Say, what if I come with you?”
“No, you ca—” You get cut off by Heizou pressing a finger on your lips
“Ah, ah, ah, I promise it’ll be fun! Besides, I can prove to be extremely useful to you when it comes to solving puzzles.”
“Yeah, but—”
“Do you doubt my abilities? If so, that really hurts my poor, poor heart.”
“I know your capabilities better than anyone Heizou. We grew up together.”
“If you know what my capabilities are, then why won’t you let me come then." Heizou pouts.
“You perfectly know why.”
“Do I?”
“Don’t play dumb with me. You have an important job here, Heizou. I can’t just take you with me.”
“I don’t even know when I’ll be back in Inazuma.”
“Y/N! Everything’s already set, just waiting on you,” Beidou semi-whispers.
“I’ll be there soon. Just..Saying some goodbyes to a friend.”
Heizou watches from the sidelines as you interact with Beidou. A tinge of jealousy and longing is present in his eyes, but it goes away quickly before anyone can see it
"Soo, I guess this is it. I’ll try my best to keep in contact with you. Promise. And maybe when we meet again, we can have a drink or two? "You held out a pinky finger towards Heizou
Heizou chuckles. “Well then, I’ll hold you up to that promise.” He intertwines his own pinky with yours
'Oh..'
Only now, as you say your final goodbyes to Heizou, do you realize how charming your best friend is.
His burgundy hair is flowing in the wind, his light olive green eyes are glistening in the sun, and his charming smile shows a hint of mischievousness.
'I'm sure whoever he'll get together with will be lucky.'
You quickly turn away from him upon realizing what you’re currently thinking
“Hey~ Why’d you turn away from me so harshly? Do you really not want to see my face that badly?" He says in a teasing tone, almost as if knowing what was going on inside your head
“That’s not it. I just—Ugh." You stumble over your words. Now that you think about it, Heizou has always had this effect on you. The man just knew how to make you speechless and stumble on your own words
“Alright, alright, that’s enough teasing.” Beidou interrupts
'Beidou! My savior!'
With that, Beidou drags you over to the Alcor(Crux fleet?? What’s the difference again)
While boarding, you catch a glimpse of platinum blonde hair
After settling down in your temporary room on the ship
You set out to find the owner of the platinum blonde hair. It’s been quite a long time since you last met, after all
Tumblr media
“It seems that fate has once again made our paths cross.”
Oh, how you missed hearing that melodic voice of his
“It seems so..” You sit down next to where he sits at the edge
“Who would’ve thought you’d be here all along?”
Silence envelopes you both
“It hurt a lot, you know..”
Kazuha remains silent and listens attentively
“You suddenly went missing after the shogunate declared you to be an enemy for eternity. I was worried sick. I thought that maybe you’d been killed.”
“I’m sorry” is all that leaves Kazuha's lips. It’s spoken so softly and quietly that one would think it was just a whisper of the wind
There in the back of the ship, hidden away from everyone, you sit by Kazuha as you cry into his arms and whisper the things you’ve always wanted to say to the man, and even the things that are of another matter. The worries and pain you’ve kept to yourself
It's sort of ironic that instead of being open to your husband, you’re much more open to your other friends. Especially this man called Kaedehara Kazuha, he has this air around him that makes you feel secure and relaxed and spill all your secrets and feelings, adding to the fact that you've known this man for much longer than you've known your husband.
You know that whatever secret you tell him, he’ll keep it to himself until his very last breath. That’s how much you trust and confide in Kazuha.
Tumblr media
"Hey..I'm sorry for, y'know, this whole crying thing.."
"It's perfectly fine, dove. It's best to let it all out rather than keeping it to yourself."
"Besides, isn't listening to your troubles also part of my job as your knight?"
"Pfft, my knight, huh? Well, then, Mr. Knight care to tell me why you didn't bother to tell me where you went? As my knight, it's only right for you to report to me."
"That's..I apologize. I had to flee immediately and couldn't risk putting you in danger by contacting you."
"What about contacting me by using another person? Like, I don't know, making Beidou deliver a message to me."
"I'd rather not trouble her with my problems. She's already done me a big favor by letting me hide out here."
"Fine, fine. I won't push the issue any further. Guess you're forgiven for now, Mr. Knight."
"Why, thank you, my liege" he chuckles while giving you a bow
The day ends with your and Kazuha's laughter filling the air
Tumblr media
Once the moon has disappeared, the sun appears again on the horizon.
And the sun signifies that a new day has come.
You woke up to the sounds of the lively crew moving on and about. After getting yourself ready, you begin to head out.
Upon arriving on the deck, you notice how you've almost reached Liyue Harbor. It seems that the sea decided to be kind and didn't cause the voyage to be longer than necessary.
After what felt like hours, you've finally arrived and docked.
Kazuha, being the gentleman that he is, decided to lend you a hand in getting off the ship.
"I'd love to show you around, but unfortunately, the Alcor will be leaving soon after getting some resources we need." Kazuha tried to hide his unhappiness by giving you his signature charming smile, but as you've known him since you guys were kids, you quickly saw past his facade.
Seeing Kazuha smile with the sun perfectly behind him, as if purposefully illuminating him, is a breath-taking sight. First Heizou, now Kazuha, why is it only now that you've noticed how good-looking your childhood friends are?
To be fair, Kazuha was quite popular with the ladies; even when you guys were still children, the girls would flock around him as if he were some deity.
'Wait, no, Y/N, stop thinking about these things. You already have a husband! You have to stay loyal, no matter how shitty your husband may be. You can't just cheat or think these things about other people.'
'Well, this is it. A new place, a new life'
Tumblr media
giuwfgeahsjk, this is it for this part! I might make the next part tomorrow, but for now, I need my sleep.
NOTE: I DO NOT CONDONE INFIDELITY. THIS IS PURELY A WORK OF FICTION.

♡ I must confess...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: I said I was gonna take a break but since I impulsively made this self-indulgent fic, I might as well share my cringe to the world!! AHAHA I finished and proofread at 3am so you might see a few errors here and there. This is a late Valentine's fic! I was supposed to finish this on the day itself but school...
!!! I am not a writer, I mainly draw artworks, so this isn't as good as the others out there, but enjoy the product of my lil brain!
content: 1.3+k words, reader pov focused, reader confesses, reader is an absolute simp for kaveh(cough), a part that implies that reader draws, giving kaveh cookies, kaveh is a pretty popular guy, fluff, just fluff. not sure if it's ooc but it's not that bad if it is! friends to lovers, kavehxgn!reader, modern HS au! Self-indulgent, but it's pretty much general so dw!
Fic under the cut! ( ╹▽╹ )
Tumblr media
After school, holding a small box of cookies and a Valentine's card behind your back, you prepped yourself. Today was the day. Today, you were going to tell your best friend that you liked him— that you really, really liked him.
Waiting outside in the courtyard, standing near the bench that you two would usually sit and hang out on, you waited to see that pretty boy blond that made your heart skip a beat for every little thing he did with you... Probably excluding the nagging he would do every so often when he was worried about you.
After a while, he called out to you, "I'm here! Sorry for the wait!" momentarily rendering you frozen in place. His bright voice ringing out, slightly out of breath.
Kaveh sat beside you with a smile, arms full of chocolatey sweets. "There were some people who gave me a few things on the way here... And I couldn't really refuse them, you know." He tittered awkwardly.
It was to be expected for someone like him to receive confessions, treats, and whatnot during this special day — he was kind, considerate... and, you could say that he was well liked by those who knew him.
He placed the chocolates and letters on the bench carefully, and... You were going to add to the amount of treats he was going to have to finish. Hesitance took root, you gulped. Palms starting to get sweaty as your heart pounded in your chest, and all of that... Just because he was there.
"Kaveh..." You muttered, before clearing your throat, hands firmly behind your back as you faced him, "I have something to tell you."
He blinked, caught off guard. "Oh? Um, what is it...?" obvious that he was drawing conclusions in his mind — his cheeks were growing redder and redder by the second. As always, being an open book whenever he was with you.
Though, from that reaction of his... Could it be?
"You probably already know what I was going to tell you..." you grumbled under your breath, turning your head to look at something else, your face burning from embarrassment.
"No, no..." He spoke up, voice softening, "Tell me."
This guy is going to cause you a heart attack one of these days, damn it! Speaking oh-so gently... You could only imagine his expression as he watched you squirm about, eyes glued on the nearby trash bins trying to calm down.
"Alright, I..." You started, "I-" you stuttered, "I...!" oh, you just couldn't!
You heard him come a little bit closer, making your heart drop to your stomach. "Look at me." He spoke firmly, yet tenderly.
Slowly, you turned to face him, finding a visage that reflected your own — a blushing mess. "That- that's better..." He whispered, giving you a bashful little smile.
You let out a soft whimper as you two locked eyes... Oh that ruby gaze you could just get lost in— no, no, damn it. Damn it all! Why is he like this?!
"Okay, okay..." You took a deep breath, closing your eyes, showing him the gifts you had prepared. "I... like you." Voice growing weaker with each word that you let out.
And there it was — the feelings you held in for months on end, out of the bag.
A few moments of silence ensued, the beating of your heart growing louder, almost deafening in your ears—
Until you felt a pair of arms wrapping around you, squeezing you tight. Not even taking the gifts first, huh....
He giggled, sighing of relief, refusing to show you his face. "I hope you're sure about that..." He muttered, letting his warmth envelop you, hiding his face from you. Your legs trembling from the sensation.
"Uh- mhm, I'm sure." You reassured him, unable to return the fluffy embrace as, well, you were holding the box of cookies and card in both your hands.
He pulled back slightly, glancing at the things you made him, "Oh, right! Sorry, let me take these real quick." he said, taking the sweets and the card from your grasps.
Checking the card's contents, he chuckled, "'For you'... and, is this supposed to be me?" He asked, showing you the card that you made for him — and yes, that was him in all his doodled glory. It wasn't as good as his own silly scribbles, but that unwavering smile of his indicated that he didn't care, and he absolutely loved it.
He placed your gifts on the bench, separated from the rest that he received earlier. "Ahem," he cleared his throat. His hand on his face as he looked at you.
Silence... Before he'd walk back towards you, wrapping you with his arms once more. "Thank you... I... really like you too." He admitted awkwardly, hushed. "So, I'm... very happy." He continued, hearing his voice tremble ever so slightly.
You returned his hug with your own, squeezing him back. The butterflies in your stomach fluttering about rapidly — you couldn't help but to lean on him.
"I'm happy too..." You whispered back, basking in his affection, catching a whiff of his cologne mixed with the scent of the sunny day that went by... It tickled your nose in a good way.
...
"... You better not be crying," you quipped, as he didn't speak after a few seconds.
He scoffed, "Er- hmph, no I'm not." his voice coming out nasally, oh.
Wait, was he actually crying?!
You pulled away, catching a glimpse of his flushed face, tears of joy, you hoped, trickling down his cheeks.
"Hey, don't look at me—!" He managed to say with a chuckle, before getting cut off by you cupping his cheeks, and wiping his tears with your thumbs, causing him to look at you, wide-eyed.
"No, no, I'm gonna stare, and stare real hard." You teased, giving him a bright smile. His cheeks heating up even more from your words. "You're so dramatic sometimes—" You continued to joke, but now was his turn to catch you off guard.
He took one of your hands, and pressed a soft kiss on your knuckles, his lips lingering a little too long. Smiling charmingly afterwards despite him tearing up just a second ago.
You stared at him, flabbergasted, oh you definitely kept your word... He bested you yet again...! You grumbled, the thumping in your chest growing louder in your ears, but you couldn't look away from him.
This... is so unfair!!
"You were saying?" He let out a light laugh, "So cute..." he remarked, causing shivers to run up your spine.
"Damn it..." You pouted, pulling your hands away, and taking a few steps back. "That was so uncalled for..." you grumbled.
He merely laughed, "You've done worse, you know! I'm sorry!" before leading you to take a seat on the bench, next to the pile of sweets.
"Alright... Why don't we eat yours first?" He offered, taking the box you gave to him in his hand, looking at you for your approval.
Recovering from what just happened, you cleared your throat, "Sure, sure... I don't mind." flashing him a smile.
He nodded, opening the tin box of cookies, he beamed, "These look delicious..." he muttered, his eyes twinkling at the confections sitting on his lap.
He reached out his hand to you, offering you the first bite. Making your heart skip a beat — it wasn't the first time he offered you food, but when it's this setting...
"No, you eat it first!" You waved your hands dismissively, but stubborn as he was, he continued to offer it to you. Not taking no as an answer.
But to be fair, if you continued to resist, it'd turn into a back and forth of insisting the other should eat the biscuit first... So you accepted it, and took a bite.
"Mm." Unsurprisingly, it was good. You picked it out yourself, after all!
Seeing your reaction, Kaveh picked up a cookie as well, taking a bite. Hearing a delighted hum leave his lips, you let out a sigh of relief that you weren't aware you were holding.
You continued to look at him as he savored your gift with a smile.
Everything has calmed down, and both of you were aware about each other's feelings now. But whatever that would come next would be for tomorrow, because right now, both of you would savor this memorable moment — the taste of the sweetness of cookies, each other's company...
... And the brokenhearted admirers of Kaveh watching from afar.

Things I hate in Harry Potter Fanfictions
This are the tropes I found multiple times in lots of different fanfictions and I got fed up with how illogical, overused and badly written they are :/
Completely changing the story to the point where I’m starting to wonder if it’s even Harry Potter because the only thing that stayed the same are the names.
( If it’s ships ) When one or both sides are already in love with each other ( in this cringy “I always loved him/her ) especially on what normally would be considered enemies to lovers. If I’m reading a story especially with a non canon ship I’d want to know how they’ve came to be, how the love blossomed. Or at least a reasonable explanation of why the character loves the other from the start of the story.
( If it’s Dark Harry ) The: One morning Harry wakes up and decides ah fuck it I’m changing sides “I care not for your good side anymore, now I’m going to be evil” and Voldemort is like “Oh well- guess I won’t kill him then, never mind that it was my obsession for the last decade and more, It changed today”
Evil-Good Harry…? Honestly I hate this trope soooo much. The: Voldemort was good from the start and it was Dumbledore that was truly evil and he manipulated Harry and/or he was the one who killed Harry’s parents. “Yeah, no like Voldemort is a pretty good guy. He can even be considered as a role model of being good if we ignore all of his other/earlier victims and people he tortured. I mean- I don’t see any evil right?”
Ron, Ginny and Hermione bashing because why not ( this happens especially often with Slytherin Harry fanfics). I don’t mind if some characters get their negative traits explored but make it real people, I can’t read a story where those characters act so bad and OOC for no actual reason. And no Harry being in Slytherin isn’t a reason because those characters never bullied and harassed anyone purely because they were a Slytherin. Yes they did not like this house ( for a good reason might I say ) but they never even acted out on Malfoy who was openly bullying them, the only situations we get where Malfoy and his friends got attacked by Ron and/or Hermione were deserved, and were responses to his provocations.
( If it’s not in order to hide his identity ) Changing Harry’s name. I can understand using Hadrian or Harris as the elongated versions of Harry but when someone straight up changes his name and now I’m reading a story about Daniel or Bob or something for no apparent reason then the whole thing seems stupid and illogical for me.
When Draco and Snape liked Harry from the start. Draco was a narcissistic, spoiled little child and he wasn’t nice to Harry both when he knew who he was ( train ride ) and when he didn’t ( Madam Malkin - their first meeting ). He expected admiration and friendship from Harry like if he had earned it. Making him be like a best friend from the very start is non sense, those boys would need time to come together, and with Harry’s personality I bet they’d still have a silly rivalry if they were in the same house. Same with Snape, like there’s no way he would tolerate Harry let alone like him. He hated Harry from the moment he saw him in the great hall and even before the boy went to Hogwarts. For Snape and Harry to like each other there would need to be a very good reason and it wouldn’t come immediately, but with lots of time and more interactions between each other.
Too much muggle stuff in the magical world. I don’t mind it if a lot of the story plays out in the muggle world or some muggle stuff is crucial for the story point but when I read a fan fiction where Harry was in St.Mungos and he was being treated the muggle way I lost it and dropped the fic. Like are you really going to put full on muggle medical equipment in a gigantic wizard hospital and make your healers use almost only muggle diagnostic methods? Most Wizards barely have any proper knowledge on muggles, and even muggleborns don’t know that much since they are introduced into wizarding world at a young age and basically spend the rest of their life in it. They have a lot more knowledge about muggles than pureblood wizards but it’s still not THAT much.
Overpowered Harry. The „Lord Potter; Black; Peverel; Gryfindor; Slytherin; etc… etc.. :/ nothing wrong with powerful Harry. I like powerful Harry. But it’s ridiculous that a child, a 11-15 yo boy would just instantly have more magical power than Merlin himself, and he would immediately know what to do with it
Gringotts knows everything about you. The „heritage tests” and all. Making a good use of Gringotts is amazing in fanfiction and I love exploring ideas people have on it but this trope is not only overused but also dumb. I’m not talking about simple family linking that people use or like blood checking. I mean the young Harry goes to Gringotts and just with a drop of his blood it is instantly known that he is meant to be a lord of this and that and he owns such and such properties and he is hella rich because of all the vaults that were left to him. And also goblins being friendly. These creatures do not like wizards.
Know it all Hermione. But like literally. Hermione being so overglorified and being literally smarter than Dumbledore and basically all Hogwarts staff often at age 11-16. She’s smart but let’s be real this is not possible. Like her being able to do anything in the world after “reading a book/going to the library for a bit”
Harry being the most handsome, ripped and freaking amazing Hogwarts student while literally being like 14 or 15.
Harem… Nothing bad with Harry having a flock of girls that are attracted to him ( this is canon ) but oversexualizing women in order to make Harry the girl-magnet that has 7 girlfriends and like all the „conventionaly attractive” witches around him - Hermione, Ginny, Fleur, Daphne etc.”
Harry hating Dumbledore from the beginning, blaming everything on the poor old man, being annoyed by the most stupid thing like: “Dumbledore smiled at him, and Harry went utterly furious” ://
Child Harry behaving like an adult and teenage/mature Harry behaving like a child. Why would a 11 yo go to Hogwarts and suddenly be a master manipulator, know exactly what to say to get out of difficult situation and can outsmart his peers and/or adults to show „how much better he is”. And the other situation: Harry being completely clueless, using childish language, being referred to by others as “little one, pup etc.”
All Slytherins are misunderstood angels. No they aren’t! As a Slyhetin myself I can recognize Draco’s ( and his friends ) bullshit when I see it! Yes stop the stereotype of “All Slytherins are bad” but do not excuse actually bad Slytherins.
Fics gloryfing toxic pureblood culture. Exploring different aspects of the culture, the better and worse ones is cool and creative but I’ve seen a lot of fics gloryfing what is just abusive and toxic and romanticizing it in the name of “pureblood customs/traditions”
Guns… just no… like what? It’s like how to tell you’re American without telling you’re American. I hate seeing guns in HP and the wizarding world, and the often following glorification of this weapon
Excessive American English. I don’t mind it much if it’s just some words but please all the slang and common words from American English are annoying. It’s not that hard to do a little bit of reaserch of the common differences in some words. The story is played ( mainly ) in the United Kingdom, the language used by characters should be British English ( like Harry & Hermione ) and Scottish English ( like McGonagall )
Excessive ( and especially if heavily described ) abuse from Dursleys that would have killed Harry at least 5 times before he would be 10. Like heavy beating, breaking bones, stabbing. I do not like reading such things and I found this in fanfics quite a lot….
Oversexualization of children 11-15. While exploring the sexual side of romance/life is okay in a teenager, it is a part of life, I hate seeing fics that oversexualize ships that at the time have characters aged 11-15 - literal children, especially oversexualizing young Hermione, in some Harmony fics ( where she was 14 ), or Ginny, with fics calling her a slut/whore because she had a crush on Harry, or when she’s a bit older because she dated a few boys.
Illogical use of Parseltongue. First of all Parseltongue is a language and Parselmouth is the speaker ( pls I beg don’t describe Harry as a Parseltongue ). But suddenly this language being like all powerful, and you can do wandless magic with it and basically perform any spell without ever using it before.
Luna being bullied by every Ravenclaw, ( like most of those ppl - especially the older ones or younger ones - do not actually care ) and her being like a super mega seer that knows all about the future and is actually super mega smart in her weirdness.
Feel free to add your points to this list!

Welcome to askfuzzycallie!
This is a splatoon au ask blog! I'm your humble host, @possiblycringe! I hope you enjoy my silly little au :D This blog will have a overarching story told over time. Most asks will not progress the plot, but Callies behavior and the status quo will change, usually during the course of longer answers or non ask comics. If you are just arriving, I recommend reading through the asks in chronological order. <- Chrono Tag Also, this is a horror au, or at least an au that contains horror in it. There is going to be psychological horror, body horror, and other unpleasant stuff. These aspects will become more apparent later on in the story, though. Just be aware of that! ______________________________________________________________ Our cast! Captain 3 (Carp)
Tumblr media
-The quiet captain of the NSS. She can face down a horde of enemy octarians but when faced with a slightly uncomfortable conversation she will bolt. -Carp is also partially Octarian -(SPOILERS) Carp has been on the sidelines this whole time, but with Callie feral will she step into action? She seems uncomfortable to even talk about it... Agent 3 (Peashooter) and Lil Buddy (Pod)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-The short-tempered, half-fuzzified kid who, for some reason, was recruited by Craig. He seems to not trust easily, but those who gain his trust, such as Craig and Pod, are people he will die for without question. Despite Pod eating the fuzzy ooze just before it transformed him, he doesn't remember anything about his old life, and wants to keep it that way. -(SPOILERS) It seems that Pea has reason not to want to remember his former life, as he had a past similar to the squid sisters...except he was forced into fame at a much younger age, leading to neglect and a belief that genuine joy is simply a facade that he is above -(SPOILERS) In the past, Pea, or as his name used to be, Crumb, had a collaboration with the squid sisters, where Callie comforted him after he tried to run away from set. This memory has inspired a new courage in Pea, who seems to have changed his view on the world just a little Agent 1 (Callie Cuttlefish)
Tumblr media
-The cheery premier agent of the NSS and the former pop star, Callie has been enjoying life after her incident with the hypnoshades. Unfortunately, the fuzzy ooze might disrupt that...but she doesn’t seemed very bothered by the changes! -(SPOILERS) The symptoms have progressed. Callie is now hunting birds without Marie's knowledge -(SPOILERS) Callie has been convinced by Mr. Grizz to hide her worsening symptoms from Marie. This could be a bad sign -(SPOILERS) Callie has become aggressive towards Deep Cut, now attacking them without hesitation. Memories have also begun to degrade -(SPOILERS) Callie has attempted to kill and eat Big Man, and this whole time has been eating salmonoids, some of which used to be her friends. Has she fully lost herself? She has separated away from the NSS, permanently for now Agent 2 (Marie Cuttlefish)
Tumblr media
-The sassy half of the Squid Sisters and second agent of the NSS, Marie has one of the strongest wills in the Splatoon. She's wary of Callie's new quirks, but is trying not to let them drift apart again. -(SPOILERS) Marie's worst fears have been realized: Callie has been lying to her this entire time. Now she's who-knows-where. She will need to find the inner strength to keep going and rescue her cousin. Again. I have other agents and feel free to ask about them, but they will likely not make a huge impact on the story! ______________________________________________________________ General rules and guidelines: -No NSFW related asks, please -OOC asks are okay, if you want any clarification on the au! -You can clarify who you are asking or leave it up to me to decide who answers -No ships are planned for this, there are some I am considering but I might not include them as I am not the strongest with romance (Edit: There is one minor romantic subplot planned because I was enabled by a friend. Have fun with that!) -I'm pretty bad with fancy formatting, so I will probably not have that much fancy texts -M!Anons aren't allowed. I'm pretty new with askblogs so I want to wait a bit until I'm more comfortable to let M!Anons happen. EDIT: No M!A will be allowed until the main story is completed
-As established in this ask, the context for asks is that an ancient human AI was found in alterna. You are free to send asks to any character in alterna because of this, but please keep this lore in mind! -No interaction with other roleplay blogs, please. This is a self contained story and because of the reasoning given above, other roleplay blogs sending asks wouldn't make sense. Thank you for understanding! -Non-OOC Asks will generally be answered with 1-5 sketches, might add splashes of color if needed ______________________________________________________________
Tags: [Ask] - any asks, in character or not [OOC] - any OOC asks [Fuzzy Callie] - any in character asks or events relating to the overall story ______________________________________________________________ Ending things off, I have never run an ask blog before so please forgive me for any mistakes I make! Thank you :D

Someone: Rings of Power is just a generic fantasy show, I don’t get what’s wrong with that.
Me: See.  See.  That hurts my soul.
(And like this is not a personal attack on anyone watching and enjoying the show, or anyone expressing this opinion.)
But like, imagine your favorite thing.  Like book, TV show, whatever, something really personally important to you that you deeply love.  And then imagine someone took that thing, used the names but changed all the specifics and made the characters OOC and made a semi-mediocre generic version of it.
Like, no I haven’t watched it, tbf.  But I’ve read reviews and all the positive things people say is like the CGI is pretty and it’s nice generic fantasy.  And like...sorry, that’s not enough.
Like, this is not even really an ADAPTATION, so much as a bastardization, and I think that’s what people need to understand.  They don’t own enough of the rights from my understanding to make it an adaptation.  They are apparently making all of this up from the LOTR appendices?  IDEK.  They don’t own any of Silm and they’re trying to tell the story of it?  Without infringing copyright, meaning it can’t actually be accurate to what Tolkien wrote?  Someone explain this to me.
One thing that’s occurred to me from this whole thing is that I might be part of the last generation to read Tolkien before seeing any adaptation of his works.  Like I can’t imagine that for people born after the turn of the millennium that they are likely to read the thousand page, somewhat difficult novel without having watched the films.  And that’s fine.  If I had kids, no doubt I’d make them watch the films first to get them interested.
But when I was 11 a family friend gave me The Hobbit and impressed upon me that it was incredibly important that I read this book.  I finished it and immediately made my mom buy me the whole LOTR set.  It took me I think until I was 12 to make it through the whole thing.
I absolutely cannot express how much Tolkien became part of my soul.  I’ve been using the name threerings in some form since I was 12 and it’s a LOTR reference.
Younger people can’t know how controversial the Peter Jackson films were before they came out.  How fans scrutinized every little thing to find fault.  The casting of Elijah Wood, omg, the howls against it.
I was working my first job out of college when the Fellowship came out.  I took the day off to go see it, along with HALF MY OFFICE.  We had our office holiday party that night and LOTR was the major topic of conversation.  (okay we were geeks, yes.)  The debates over the changes.  Arwen instead of Glorfindel, etc...
But the Jackson films (the first three at least, I have Hobbit Opinions) showed themselves to be faithful adaptations made with love and understanding of the source.  Like not perfect.  But mostly with changes that made sense or which could be overlooked.  Tolkien fans felt their cherished texts had been respected.
But this?  This is like all that anxiety and skepticism and then...the best anyone can say is it’s not too bad for generic fantasy.
I can’t.  You know?  I don’t want to watch my most beloved characters of Galadriel and Elrond (two of the three holders of the Three Rings, btw) in a bastardized generic fantasy.

Hard agree with the previous anon!! Neither Luffy nor Zoro are the type to blindly believe in anyone. I think that this explicitly goes against their nature. It is partly what many characters highlight about Zoro's character, confusing him with the captain in some chapters, since he is not a follower, and less so a blind one. The thing is, we know Luffy isn't that type either. I'm also very happy to read a slightly different perspective on Weaskey Pick because most of the takes I've seen recently (no here) go along the lines of "it's OoC for Luffy to distrust his nakama like that after trusting Nami" or directly "it's fanservice, it doesn't make any sense" . Although I find it a fairly entertaining and I love how in sync Luffy and Zoro are, there are some dialogues within the fight that didn't sit well with me at the time. I now mainly interpret the fight under the notion that it's two Haoshoku Haki users disagreeing for the first time about something big after agreeing in a lot of things. Luffy, and Zoro to a certain extent, operate very instinctively. Luffy may have thought that Zoro might ignore the kindness of the people who had helped them and attack them (he had his reasons to be distrustful), but the image of Zoro that he had put together clashed a bit against that (since he had his reasons to trust him) and that is why it is confusing to put it into words for him at that moment. It's not difficult for Zoro to understand it after the fact (there's a reason they fix their fight right away) but it is difficult to explain it in the heat of the battle so it is messy. But yeah, it's nice seeing other ideas about it.
yepyep! I think this is one aspect of both their personalities that's been highlighted more than a few times, more so for zoro perhaps but still. even if he's not so stubborn that he'd refuse someone's advice or help, luffy's pretty headstrong and quite the literal born leader as far as OP powers and abilities go (which zoro is too). his usually trusting nature doesn't really change that. neither are blind followers and in a way, it helps keep each other in check.
about whiskey peak, I've also written down some of my thoughts here before and overall, I don't think it's that ooc in theory - the execution and some of the dialogue during their fight is what makes it fall short for me, rather than the fight itself or luffy's motivation to go bonkers in the first place. OP's come a long way since then so we can attribute the fight to other stuff (like haki) or add some more depth to it but regardless, at least to me it's part of the whole building block that makes up their relationship. neither of them would grow as characters (especially luffy as a captain imo) nor would their bond be as strong as it is rn if they simply agreed on everything and never fought over serious shit or dumb misunderstandings. otherwise we wouldn't have arcs like water 7 too.

Alright, today Ive read chapters 9-12 and honestly, at a certain point reading this book while knowing all the spoilers stops being frustrating and starts just being funny. Like, Ianthe brings up the fact that people are gonna want to kidnap Feyre for "breeding" to which Tamlin says that no one is gonna dare do that to Prythian's Saviour because then theyll be on the shitlist of the other six courts, but Ianthe says that Rhysand could and would do it because hes The Most Powerful(tm) and hes really manipulative and yeah. shes right. Obviously I know this is gonna be treated as unreasonable and as foreshadowing of Ianthe being evil all along, but shes totally right
Anyway, Rhysand continues to be unbearably annoying but not in any particularly interesting way, so I dont really have anything to say about him. I hate how hes so powerful that six courts all working together would be no match for the night court and he comes across as sooooo insincere. Like, I often talk about not being the biggest Feylin fan because its pretty boring to me, but atleast it was like, sweet because of how genuine and endearingly awkward Tamlin was
Speaking of Tamlin, guess who just keeps getting worse and worse? I had some hope for him when he reduced the guards and gave Feyre more freedom, but then he doubled them again and he did that thing with the barrier around the manor so yeah. Now, if I wanted to be a pedantic asshole I could point out that he listened to Feyre (who managed to very clearly tell him what she needs at the moment, freedom, which was great) and they were doing fine until Rhysand came back, but as much as I would like to blame Rhysand for everything, Tamlin's actions are still his own. And honestly, I find Tamlin keeping any guards around Feyre after what she told him very unreasonable
I think keeping Feyre safe has become a coping mechanism for him because he couldnt protect her from Amarantha back then so now hes trying his best to protect her from Rhysand (and others, but mostly him rn) who was essentially Feyre's very own Amarantha, and obviously its not his fault that thats a coping mechanism he developed, but it is actively making Feyre upset and making it more difficult for her to heal as well, and hes the older one in this situation, hes the guy whos dealt with intense trauma before, he should be listening to her and giving her space
The only thing where I'll kinda take Tamlin's side is him locking her in the manor when he was going to the western border and Feyre wanted to follow them, but even then the force field was way too much. But also, to me it very much seemed like he and Lucien were in a hurry to leave and it was a very hasty spur-of-the-moment decision, but also it felt like the narrative was trying to demonise him more by impling that it was more of a calculated decision. Like, idk thats the vibe that Lucien explaining to Feyre that everyone but her could pass through the shield gave me, but that might just be a personal thing. I mean, Tamlin is clearly being demonised here either way, him being so unreasonable is something that I find very OOC even with the recent trauma hes experienced. But, theres a lot of buts in this paragraph i know, I do also want to acknowledge that Feyre would likely not have wanted to go with Tamlin to this conflict-zone if he had listened to her wayyyyyy earlier and not doubled the guards again. I recognize this kind of behaviour because I also felt like I had no agency over my situation in the past and Im also a very stubborn person, and it lead to me also doing more and more reckless things in an attempt to make the people around me actually listen, and make them understand how serious I was about getting out of the situation that was upsetting me
(In case youre worried, Im completely fine now and Im leaving out a lot of detail for the sake of my privacy and so I can draw a cleaner parallel)
Speaking of Feyre's agency, chapter 12 ended with her having a panic attack because she was trapped and then Mor and Rhysand showed up and Alis just gave them to her??? First of all, insane behaviour, second of all, I hate that Rhysand is meant to be the choice guy or whatever but wont wait for her to come of her own volition. I think it wouldve been better if she had that panic attack and it ran its course and then she either called for Rhys or Mor or managed to winnow to the night court herself and thats how she got there. Also, and this is part of the same issue, I hate that Rhys is the one who originally forced her to read. I think at some point Feyre shouldve realised that all the people in the spring court are withholding information from her but!, she realises that they write shit down sometimes and exchange messages and whatnot so knowing how to read could really help her here and maybe she even thinks about Rhysand taunting her about teaching her UTM, so next time shes at the Night Court she demands that she be taught how to read herself
Because honestly, right now it seems like she has the same amount of agency no matter what court shes in, which is basically none
I was gonna end it on that snappy one-liner, but then I remembered all the stuff with Feyre losing weight and how Rhys remarks upon it and how Feyre notices herself getting thinner as well and I dont have that much to say about it, I just wanted to say that it just made me incredibly uncomfortable
But yeah, now Im done for realsies

I agree with everything you said about Yorozu, she wanted a pretty doll as a husband that was also strong.
I have caught up now!
I don't think that weapon is her gift? Idk, I think it may be the og thing that uraume found or kept.
I really see no reason for yorozu to give him the weapon, but I might be mistaken, idk... I just got the vibe she would try to weight him down, because "if I cannot have you, no one can " kind of thing.
But then she also might want to see destroy everything, who knows? I just like my theory better XD
Not gonna lie, it is somewhat funny how everyone wants to reach sukuna while he doesn't give a fuck XD
I also found a bit ooc of gojo to care about sukuna, like what about megumi and everyone? Sympathize is one thing, but wanting to connect/teach/show is whole other thing... but anyway!
I am excited about Yuji and Hiromi fight! The memes are great too XD can't wait to see lawyer! mahoraga
Also cheering for kinji, he has a fun ability!
I do wonder what yuta, Maki and inumaki are doing? Yuta said he was going to give a job for inumaki...
And also what kenjaku is doing is bothering me, some people on my country got some drawing of a possessed gojo ( with kenjaku) but idk if that is real or just a very good fanart. Dunno...
Thank you for calling Sukuna in his og body pretty, it warms my heart. <3
I'm not 100% sure the weapon is her gif but many people interpret it as such? I guess time will tell. And yeah, it'd be cool if her gift was possessive and unhelpful.
As to Gojou trying to connect with Sukuna, I don't find it shocking at all, but I have a very harsh opinion of Gojou, especially about his relationship with Megumi.
I really hope we seem some of the Kinji vs Uraume battle. I hope we see other characters do things as well. And Yuuji going in with Higuruma is so cool. I'm so excited for the next chapters. I kinda think Maki might be waiting somewhere using her cursed energy "invisibility" to attack Sukuna when he's distracted and or depowered. Because even without his cursed energy Sukuna is still good at hand to hand combat.
As to the Kenjaku in Gojou's body. I think it's fanart considering we're on break now. But also I don't think Kenjaku would want Gojou's body for themself. At least not now. Kenjaku needs Getou's cursed technique for the merger. And while they can store a few techniques of the bodies they had before, Gojou has 2 techniques not one, so they'd need to give up not one but 2 they already have, would it be convenient for them? Kenjaku isn't really a fighter, they are more about plots and experiments. Another thing is that they'd need to fix Gojou's body to use it and that'd be a huge cursed energy expenditure, not a very safe bet during a large battle. I don't think it'd be completely impossible for them to want a new body after their plan is fulfilled. But at this point it doesn't seem that likely.
To me this theory that Kenjaku wants Gojou's body stems from some people in the fandom ascribing to Gojou more importance that he actually has in the story. And also them misinterpreting the relationship between Kenajku and the Six Eyes users.
Kenjaku's main relationship is with Tengen. Kenjaku wants a different world than the one she is creating. And Tengen created the Six Eyes as her protector, so Kenjaku needs to defeat the Six Eyes to get to her. And that's why Kenjaku has been going after them. But Kenjaku doesn't have any personal relationship with Gojou Satoru. Kenjaku couldn't have planned for Gojou to develop attachment to Getou. But Kenjaku wanted Getou's cursed technique. And they wanted to remove Gojou from the picture to get to Tengen. Getting Getou was surely Kenjaku's plan ever since they learned about his powers. Using Getou's body to unsettle Gojou and make the sealing easier was a bonus.

Lol sorry this is a day late I was honoring the April 1 strike for Palestine and then yesterday my internet was really slow and Tumblr draft edit wouldn’t work
Anyway.
Warnings: idk how these work please lemme know if I need to tag anything else but uh. Manipulative/kinda creepy whumper, a conditioned whumpee and his self destructive/self sacrificial tendencies, caretaker was hurt by whumpee in the past (not in a whump way just in a whumpee tried to destroy the world and caretaker had to stop him way) but he’s grown over the time they’ve been apart and come to understand the whumpee’s actions, uh. This is Pokémon and I’m going with a nuanced take of some of them are sapient and some aren’t and caretaker is very much a Pokémon, also whumpee is a canon character and might act OOC for. Reasons that will hopefully be revealed over the course of this month if I can get this challenge done :D oh also I follow canon VERY loosely bc there’s like three different canons and I’m here to have fun not to police my story writing so uh. Ye
Anyway, there’s also some mind control in there, some frostbite, some.. It’s like a chemical burn sort of, some dissociative panic attack flavored stuff, uh. Animal attack? Oh yeah and dismemberment lol- this one is. A little. Uh. Yeah
Oh and if you see these characters on another account ask that account if it’s me before getting upset bc uh. I have posted abt them on my main before
Anyway. Yeah. Enjoy this, uh. Please don’t judge me I can’t get these freaks out of my head hsjdjdjd
Day 1: Limp
Reunited Arc Part 1
~~~~~
It was supposed to just be a normal day off.
Cheri was headed to Celestic City to meet with a historian, to answer questions about Dialga and the Diamond Clan.
He’s taking the train, since he didn’t feel like walking all that way or making any of his Pokémon carry him.
It was supposed to be a normal day, but he sees a familiar face, and he has to do a double take.
Long blond hair, one eye covered, tied in its usual messy bun in the back. A shining silver eye, which is currently focused on a watch on their own wrist. Cheri would’ve guessed that was Cynthia, but he’s a guy, and he’s wearing a form-fitting black turtleneck tank top, a denim jacket over it.
The modern clothes on him are such a foreign sight.
But there’s no mistaking it.
Volo.
Cheri feels his blood freeze near instantly. A few people step away as the space around him begins to grow cold, a breeze of malice brushing through the air.
Volo hasn’t noticed him yet, and Cheri’s debating between just leaving and confronting the man.
Celestic Town is pretty close to Mount Coronet, but Cheri has prior arrangements. If he decides to go after Volo, he might not make it to the city on time, if at all. And someone guards the mountain now after Cyrus, right? So it’s not like Volo will be able to actually get there.
Unless he takes a path that isn’t through the caves. But even then, Arceus will be fine, they’re a god, it’s fine.
Maybe Cheri should just avoid all this and ride a bike to town. He left himself enough time to, after all.
But the train doors close, making Cheri’s choice for him. He can’t just say nothing.
So he steps forward.
“Hey.”
Volo looks up from his watch, eyes wide. “Hello- I’m sorry, am I in your way?” Who is this? He looks familiar..
Cheri shakes no. “You shouldn’t be here.”
Volo stops, staring at the stranger(?) for a moment. He knows me. Who is this? Usually, when people are angry at me in this time, it’s because they’ve mistaken me for Cynthia. But it seems like this one’s here for ME, not her-
His eyes widen. He goes pale. Takes a step back, his voice quiet enough that only the man in front of him hears it. “Cheri.” The one of the siblings I ESPECIALLY did NOT want to run into.
I don’t have time for this! Not now- of all the times I could have run into him, it had to be this last mission?
He pushes his thoughts aside, putting on a grin and trying to act like everything’s fine.
“Haha, it’s fancy seeing you here! What a coincidence!” I can’t do this right now! I’m on a time limit- this is THE WORST possible timing for this to happen, so of course it does.
“What a coincidence indeed,” Cheri says, voice low, taking another step forward as Volo takes a step back.
Volo’s smiling, that same pleasant grin Cheri remembers from all those years ago. But Cheri knows it’s a lie, can sense the fear coming off the man.
“Why are you headed to Mount Coronet? You and I both know you shouldn’t be there.”
“Listen, I can explain, but I don’t have much time- but I am not here for Arceus.” Cheri doesn’t seem convinced, so he keeps talking. “I’m here to protect Arceus, actually, from someone much worse than I am.”
“Hm. A likely story.” Cheri starts reading his emotions a little more.
“I swear on my life, that’s behind me.” Please, please, please please PLEASE believe me. I know you have every reason not to, after what I’ve done, but please just listen.
Cheri hums, thinking this over for a moment.
He doesn’t sense any lies from the man, strangely enough. He lets his magic push forward a little further, sensing for Volo’s intentions.
He doesn’t sense anything to do with Arceus at all, actually. No lies, no deceit.
Interesting..
Volo shivers as he feels a cold chill brushing through him, though the pleasant mask of a smile stays firmly in place. They reach their stop. I need to get away. He turns on his heel. “Well, I’ll be seeing you around-” Cheri’s hand is on his shoulder, and he tenses, breath catching in his throat. Please have mercy. Whatever you’re about to do, just don’t hurt me too badly.
Cheri’s voice is quiet, his expression grim. “You’re on a suicide mission, aren’t you.”
Shock, surprise. He shakes his head, smile growing strained. “Wh- how did you-” Volo clears his throat, turning back to smile at Cheri. “It doesn’t matter. No matter what happens, whether it’s him who dies or me, the problem will be over. And I’m probably not going to die anyway. Why?”
Cheri frowns, thinking that over for a few moments. Him? I’m assuming that’s who he’s saying he’s protecting Arceus from? If Volo dies, doesn’t that mean the problem isn’t technically over? Because we still have someone out there who’s willing to attack Arceus to further a goal. And if Volo, of all people, thinks this guy could KILL him, with Pokémon as powerful as his.. “..I’m coming with you.”
Why? What does he want out of this? “He is dangerous. You shouldn’t come with, he could kill you, and I am not worth it.” How much does he know? How did he know?
“Well, that’s all the more reason for me to come with.” If this guy really is as much of a threat as Volo says he is, I need to make sure this guy doesn’t get anywhere near the creation quartet. The two step off the train, and Cheri crosses his arms, head tilting to the side. “If you’re telling the truth, it sounds like this guy needs to be taken out.”
Volo looks up at Cheri for a second, opening his mouth to argue, and Cheri ignores his own annoyance, interrupting before Volo starts.
“I’ve fought gods. I’ve fought you. I’m sure I can take this guy out just fine.”
Volo frowns. “You should want me dead, you know-”
“No. Nope.” Cheri pinches the bridge of his nose. “Shut up with that, I’m not gonna listen to you talk about yourself like that.” Because as angry as I am at him for everything..
I can’t bring myself to hate him. Can’t bring myself to hate anyone, really, but ESPECIALLY not him.
We’re the same, after all.
Volo shuts his mouth, keeping the surprise off his face. I betrayed him and his siblings. Am I not just speaking truth? “..okay. ..I’ll explain while we walk, but we need to hurry.” I really am not worth it. But.. I doubt I’ll be able to talk him out of this. He always was stubborn, even more so than his sister at times..
What does he want, coming with me on this? Perhaps he’s just making sure I’m telling the truth about not being after Arceus, but then if he knows how dangerous this mission is..
..What should I tell him? What should I leave out? He needs to know at least some of the situation. Maybe if he knows it’s no real threat to anyone except me, he’ll leave the situation be? He knows I deserve this, after all, was on the receiving end of my worst mistake..
Cheri follows the man, who seems to be lost in thought, and he soon gets lost in his own. Who is “he”..? I could look into his fears and see.. no, that’s too invasive. Even for Volo.
..I really don't know much about him, Hisui was so long ago.. And even back then, he tried to avoid being around me as much as he could. He could tell I didn’t trust him. He hung out with Ana and Keyo much more often. But..
He looks up at Volo. Volo looks back, smiling that pleasant smile again. But it’s tense. Almost strained. Cheri gives as reassuring of a smile as he can, but it only seems to make the guy more tense, so Cheri looks away.
I’m pretty sure that this isn’t like him. He manipulated my siblings and I into helping him collect the Plates, avoiding the dangerous work for himself; it isn’t like him to do something so dangerous like this.
Cheri carefully looks at Volo out of the corner of his eye, studying Volo’s face for a moment. His eyes glow as he looks into Volo’s emotions, grimacing when he feels a wave of anxiety and self hatred and quickly stopping, pulling his magic away.
Whoa..
..He doesn’t feel the same. I don’t feel the sense of untrustworthiness I did back then.
I wish I had a hold on my powers then, because I don’t have any idea how different he truly is, I have no clue if that self hatred was there before, but I know for a FACT the anxiety wasn’t. I can see it even without my abilities.
Volo’s looking around at every face as they walk. It’s hard to notice the nerves behind the pleasant smile, but Cheri can tell from how tense he’s holding his shoulders, a tenseness that didn’t exist back in Hisui.
And his eyes are.. darker, somehow, and his breath hitches every so often as people look at him.
And he looks sick. He has eyebags dark enough they almost look like bruises. He’s pale- even more so than he was back then.
He’s still smiling, but something about the smile is even more fake than it used to be; at least in Hisui, the confidence was real.
What happened to take his confidence?
They’re around less people now, and Volo takes a breath, turning to look at the trail. “So!” Volo claps his hands together with a fake chipper attitude. “The man we’re going after.. His name is Eclipse.”
With the name, Cheri notices fear.
Memories.
He doesn’t look into them, that’s invasive, but he can tell they’re there. That’s not good.
“He’s..” Volo thinks for a moment. “..Not a good man.” Then he points into the air, finger wagging as he talks. “And he’s leading me straight into a trap! And he likely knows that I know that it’s a trap. And he also knows that I’m going to come anyway, whether I know it’s a trap or not. But!” Volo turns to Cheri suddenly, pointing at him with a smile. “If I walk into the trap, he’ll stop everything he’s doing. He only wants me. I mean, he also wants to take revenge on- well, that doesn’t matter, but he’ll stop if I give myself to him.”
“If you what?” Cheri’s staring to get genuinely worried, eyebrows furrowing. “Volo, who is this guy?”
“Someone who gave me what I deserve,” Volo says quickly, then he shakes his head. “It really doesn’t matter. Go home, this doesn’t concern you.”
“Arceus is part of it, and you are too, so uh. Yeah. It does concern me, actually.” Damnit, that wasn’t supposed to sound so pointed. I’m WORRIED, about HIM, not about Arceus.
Volo shakes his head. “Really, it’s fine. I’m not here to do anything to Arceus. No plates, no flute, you can check my bag if you want. I’m just here for Eclipse. I’m here to try to take him down, and if that doesn’t work, well.. The problem will be gone either way!”
There’s a sour taste in Cheri’s mouth. Something’s very, very wrong here. “So, what, you’re just gonna let this guy take you and do Arceus knows what?”
“It’s deserved.” Volo smiles at him again, though it’s more strained and looks much more like he’s pleading. “Please, just leave, this is not worth your safety.”
“Nope. No, not happening. I’m coming with you whether you like it or not, you’re not gonna talk me out of it now.” This whole situation.. Whatever’s going on, it really seems like it’s MUCH worse than he deserved. Prison maybe, I could see that. Maybe getting grabbed by a time traveler who could teach him about exactly why what he did was dangerous.
But something tells me someone went way too far.
Volo’s smile grows more strained. “..I was afraid of that,” he murmurs, then he shakes his head. “Well. Hm. ..okay. I.. suppose this might be a good thing. He probably thinks that I’m not coming with backup- I wasn’t planning to, so.” Volo shakes his head, smile fading entirely as he turns back to the trail up Mount Coronet. “Anyway.. He has been collecting legendary and mythical Pokémon from different times and places. We’re not sure what all he has- we know for sure he has Regiice, Azelf, and possibly the other two lake spirits, as well as the Red Chain.”
Who is “we”?? Wait. SHIT. Cheri’s neck snaps he turns to Volo so fast. “He has the red chain?”
Volo, fairly used to ghost-type shenanigans, barely bats an eye. He just nods, a grim look on his face. “And he’s going after Arceus with it.”
“That’s.. not good.” Cheri turns back to the trail, frowning down at it and kicking a few pebbles forward. “But if he takes you, the problem’s over? Why?”
Volo thinks for a moment. “He’s.. very angry with me, and it’s me specifically that he’s after, despite the situation,” he says. Cheri can tell Volo’s verbally stepping around details, so he stays quiet, waiting for Volo to explain. “..I caused him to lose everything he had.”
“..with the rift, or..?”
“Oh, no, not like that.” Volo quickly shakes his head, hands waving. “No, he just..” Volo grimaces, looking away, what Cheri would have been able to see of his face hidden behind his hair. “He.. Well. He did some pretty bad things to me. Which! That was deserved, really, you know I deserved them.” Cheri grimaces. He keeps saying that it’s deserved.. it’s putting a bad taste in my mouth. Before Cheri can say anything, Volo keeps talking. “But when Management saw what he did, they kicked him from-” He shakes his head. “You know, I actually don’t think I’m supposed to talk about that. Forget I said anything about Management.”
“Okay.” So, he was in some secret club or something, and this Eclipse guy hurt him and got kicked out over it. “..the hell you mean ‘it’s deserved’? What did he do?”
Volo’s lips press into a thin line for a moment, then he glances at his watch. “Oh, look at the time!” Volo grimaces as he looks at the cave through the mountain. “We should hurry, let’s leave the path and just climb it, this cave system must be new; I am unfamiliar with it.”
Okay, he’s avoiding the question. Cheri frowns, ignoring the annoyance stewing in his gut and following Volo off the path. Then Eclipse must have done something pretty bad.
Or maybe he’s just a very private person. He avoided questions a lot back in Hisui.
Then again, in Hisui, he had a lot of things to hide.
..What is this club he was in? Some sort of evil team? But if it is, why would they have sent him to PROTECT Arceus from this Eclipse guy?
Given our past, I’d think he was lying if I couldn’t tell. He is so incredibly lucky I have the ability to tell.
“..so. He’s got a bunch of legendaries. Why are they with him?”
“They’re not with him willingly,” Volo explains, finding a good spot on a cliffside to start climbing. “He has this device, it’s from the future- Ah! Did I mention he’s from the future? Anyway, he has this device, which is controlling them through technologically created psychic power. They don’t want this, so we need to try to avoid hurting them, so the hoppers can bring them home- they’re from different times, he’s been jumping through time to take them.”
Cheri blinks a few times, head tilting to the side in confusion. “Hoppers?? Jumping through time???” Holy shit, wait, was I accidentally right about a time traveler grabbing him?
I guess it makes sense how he’s here then.
“It’s a very long story.” One I am probably not allowed to tell you. Well.. I might be able to, considering the fact that technically, you’re a time traveler. One chosen by Arceus, no less. But.. I don’t want to drag you into this mess. Not any more than I already have, anyway. Volo shakes his head. “Anyway, we’re not sure what exactly he’s controlling them through, but we believe it’s his bracelet.”
“Gotcha.” Cheri frowns. “So, don’t hurt the legendaries, break his bracelet.”
“Exactly.” Getting to the top of the cliffside, Volo turns around to pull Cheri up, though Cheri waves him off, he doesn’t need the help. “And try not to get hurt yourself.”
Cheri nods, smirking. “Thanks, Sherlock.”
Volo blinks a few times in confusion. “..Sherlock..?”
“It’s a reference- there’s this book-” Cheri shakes his head. “Nevermind.” Noticing a sneasel sneaking up on him, he snarls at it, letting an illusion lash towards it. It squeaks in fear, running off. “Sorry, can’t risk it with dark types.”
“No, that’s fine.” I already knew he wasn’t human anyway, though it’s interesting to see him actually use his abilities.
However, it IS a little frightening.
Was that meant to be a show of power, or was he genuinely just scaring it off?
What exactly does he want with me?
Volo turns, and they keep walking, an uncomfortable silence falling between the two.
“..you know.. I have time.”
Volo looks over at him in confusion.
“For a long story I mean.”
“This isn’t one you want to hear,” Volo quickly says. Please don’t ask again.
Luckily for Volo, Cheri just looks at him for a moment, almost seeming to study him. Volo shudders at the way Cheri seems to be staring straight into his soul.
Then Cheri nods, turning to the next cliffside to climb in silence.
Volo watches him for a moment longer before turning back to climb. ..He doesn’t trust me. I can tell. He might never trust me again, and honestly, that would be warranted.
It’s really unfortunate timing, that this has happened now, of all times. Right now, when I’m doing something important. One last thing before there’s nothing left for me to do, nothing left that I can fix.
..I suppose if I survive this, I can let him and his siblings decide my fate afterwards. Those three were the ones most directly affected by my actions.. Then they’ll get the final decision, if it isn’t made here.
..for now, though.. I can, at the very least, try to give him closure.
“..I.. want to apologize,” Volo mutters.
Cheri turns to look at him, subconsciously checking his intentions, and oh, this is a genuine apology. “Hm?”
“For.. Not only the rift, and pulling you and your siblings from your home, but also for betraying the three of you. ..I hope you know it wasn’t just.. It wasn’t all just manipulation. You three were some of the few people I could genuinely consider friends, had I not been holding you all at arms length.” I might as well be genuine. Maybe in return, he’ll do the same..
No. I shouldn’t hope, I don’t get to hope, but..
It would be nice, if it was something I deserved.
Cheri blinks a few times as he feels the sincerity. Interesting.. “..They’re going to want apologies too, you know. ..thanks, by the way, that.. actually means a lot.” He looks up the mountain, thinking for a moment. “..You really have changed, haven’t you.”
Volo hums, making a so-so gesture. “I’d like to think so.”
“..I forgive you, you know.” Cheri shakes his head. “Honestly, I did a long time ago. What you did was fucked up, don’t get me wrong, and a LOT of people got hurt that shouldn’t have. But.. I dunno.” He shakes his head. “..I can understand your reasoning.” What I learned about him, about his people..
Volo stops, looking over at Cheri with confusion. He forgives me..? Why? It doesn’t make sense to me. What does he have to gain? I don’t know if I should trust this, that might be exactly what he’s aiming for. “Really?” Volo looks up to meet Cheri’s eyes.
Confusion, a hint of fear, and Cheri realizes he should explain. “I wouldn’t ever do the same thing you did, don’t get me wrong. But the world really is full of unnecessary suffering.” Cheri shakes his head. “And.. if I’m right about where you came from, you’ve dealt with a lot of it, right?”
How much does he know about me? And how does he know it? Why does he know it?
Volo doesn’t let his uneasiness show on his face, humming noncommittally. “It doesn’t excuse my actions. I ended up bringing harm to a lot of people.” I don’t deserve forgiveness. “..Thank you, though,” he murmurs.
Cheri studies him for a moment. So, the self loathing is probably from the rift and everything surrounding it, at least partially.. Not sure what the uneasiness is about, but he doesn’t like something about me. It might just be the whole zoroark thing, but it’s been growing, so maybe it’s something I’ve been saying or something? “Don’t mention it.” He looks up, getting to the top of the cliff they’re climbing and offering a hand to pull Volo up, which Volo takes.
They’re about halfway up the mountain now. The air’s growing colder- though Cheri can’t really feel the cold himself, Volo’s pulling his clothes a little tighter around himself.
..conversation topic.. Oh, the plan. “So.. About this Eclipse guy..”
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Volo says quickly.
“No, I wasn’t asking what he did, don’t worry.” I don’t want to push him too much, he’s wary. “I just want to know, he’s trying to kill you, right? Do you want him alive, or? If you’re, uh.. taking him out, what’re we doing with him after? What’s the plan?”
“You don’t have to worry about that, he’ll be taken care of either way, and.. alive would be preferred, but if he dies, I.. don’t really care.” Maybe that’s a little harsh.. Well. Maybe I’m allowed to be a little harsh. Volo shakes his head. “However, I would like to be able to capture him and bring him in. I.. have some questions that I want to ask him, with prison bars separating him from me, of course.”
Cheri hums, studying Volo’s expression for a moment, sensing the emotions behind it. Is that.. Pain? Exhaustion?
Concern? ..Overthinking, maybe..?
“..What sorts of questions?”
Volo shakes his head. “..I just.. hm.”
I don’t know how to word this. I want to know why he did it. I want to know why, out of EVERYONE he could have chosen, every timespace criminal he had access to, he chose ME to hurt.
“..I want closure.”
Cheri hums, looking away. “..He might not give you that. Talking to him might make it worse, you know.”
Volo turns to Cheri with a glare, hissing “You know nothing about him, or my situation.”
Cheri’s a little surprised by the sudden anger in the air, though it’s understandable, he doesn’t blame Volo for it. After a moment of thought, trying to figure out what to say, he shrugs. “I might know next to nothing about the situation, but I know trauma when I see it.” He glances over at Volo, letting his eyes flash, a subtle reminder of his abilities. “He hurt you, yeah? On purpose, I’m guessing.”
..Just how much does he know..? And what is he trying to get out of knowing this about me?
He’s right, and it scares me. Does he know because of an ability? Did he look into my fears? Or did he figure it out on his own?
Volo turns away, the silence giving Cheri all the answer he needs.
Shit. It seems like trying to bridge the gap is just making things worse.. Honestly, I should’ve expected this, got too personal too fast.
Well. There’s no point in dropping the conversation at this point. He can try to make me leave, but it’s not gonna work, I need to make sure this Eclipse guy doesn’t fuck with Arceus. And besides..
I’m worried. About Volo, of all people. That’s saying something. “..And he’s trying to kill you even now.. I doubt he’ll give you closure.” Cheri turns away, frowning. “If anything, talking to him might make things worse.” It made it worse when I talked to Keyo’s bio parents, after all. Dickheads will be dickheads, it’ll always hurt to talk to em.
“Perhaps.” Volo shakes his head. My pain shouldn’t matter to you. You can’t actually care, especially not with everything I’ve done to you, so..
It must matter to you because you want me hurt.
“..Let’s talk about something else, shall we?” And if you do somehow care, you shouldn’t get attached to me anyway, you shouldn’t get attached to someone who deserves a bad fate. It’ll only hurt you.
“Hm.” ..yeah. He’s probably done talking now. Cheri looks up the mountain, squinting as the sun hits his eyes. “..Not much further now.”
Volo nods, checking his watch. “The readings said he will appear in the cave that leads to Cloudcap Pass.”
“Alright. So we get to the pass, then go to the cave from there?”
Volo nods. “And then we’ll wait until he arrives.”
“Right.”
They climb in silence until they reach the top, coming out near the destroyed temple. Cheri takes a deep breath, taking in the air.
This place feels as holy as it always did, the presence of the gods closer here than it is anywhere else in the region, and he feels the power of Arceus’s blessing within him shift.
They’re watching.
Volo glances over at the spear pillar, an unreadable expression on his face, and Cheri senses a spike of guilt. Then he turns away from it, wordlessly heading to the cave, a grim determination filling his gut as he lets his Pokémon out.
Cheri lets his own Pokémon out too. He hadn’t been expecting a battle today, but most of his Pokémon are pretty strong anyway, so it should be fine. He’s got Sprigs with him, and Sprigs doesn’t fight, so he was left in his ball. But Cheri has a few with him that do fight, some of the ones that he hasn’t spent much time with recently. Hydra, Eelectra, Zigzag, Tiktok, and Sylvie- his hydreigon, eelektross, linoone, galvantula, and sylveon, respectively- all can fight. And in the worst case scenario, he can fight too.
Recognition. Feeling a pulse of emotional energy towards him, he turns to look at Volo’s Lucario, who’s staring at him with confusion and a little bit of fear. Cheri takes a breath, summoning up feelings of forgiveness, knowing the other Pokémon can read them. After a moment, the Lucario nods, pushing another feeling towards him. Friendliness, a gesture of goodwill. That is SO much better than what I got from his trainer. Cheri smiles, letting the feeling rise in his chest and sending it back, then he looks over at Volo.
Volo looks normal on the outside, but Cheri can tell he’s terrified, can feel the feeling seeping off him even without reaching towards him with his abilities.
“Hey,” Cheri says, resting a hand on Volo’s shoulder.
He nearly pulls away when Volo flinches, but then Volo leans slightly into the kind touch, looking up at him with wide eyes.
He’s touching me. Why is he touching me. I..
Why am I.. not all that scared of it..?
“I’ve got your back. You’re gonna be okay,” Cheri mutters. If you’re gonna die, he’s gotta get through me first.
Volo stares at him for a moment, then nods, his smile becoming a bit more genuine, though there’s sadness in his eyes. Oh. This is genuine kindness?
I should have expected it from Arceus’s chosen.
..I really don’t deserve this. You shouldn’t get attached to me. He opens his mouth to speak, but then his watch starts to blare, an alarm that he quickly moves to silence, expression hardening. “He’s coming,” Volo says, pressing a button on his watch. A hologram pops up, indicating a specific location, and Volo turns it off and takes a step away from there, staring at it, getting low to the ground, ready to dodge at a moment’s notice. Okay. I can do this. All I need is to last long enough to break that bracelet. His Pokémon quickly surround him, protective. Cheri motions for his own to do the same, and they quickly get into battle-ready stances.
The group stands in silence, staring at the spot, waiting with bated breath.
And then a portal opens, and Volo’s garchomp snarls, dashing forward.
“Ah- Shark, wait-!”
But it’s too late. Shark is thrown into the nearest wall, a Mewtwo holding him there. He snarls, kicking at the walls, the ground, trying to escape the psychic grasp, but it’s no use. Should I recall him and let him back out? I don’t know if that would work, don’t know if I could move quickly enough-
“Well, hello there,” someone says.
The voice is unfamiliar to Cheri.
But Volo stiffens even further.
Goosebumps rise on his arms.
Cheri can feel the fear seeping off him as he turns to stare into the portal.
The strange man steps forwards, grinning. “That’s not the friendliest welcome.”
“Eclipse,” Volo mutters, shrinking back. Shrinking back.
What the hell did he do, to make Volo react like that? Cheri looks over to Eclipse, taking in the high-tech bracelets on his arms, the look in his eyes.
He’s immediately hit with the man’s aura as he reaches his powers out, a sense of complete malice washing over him, and his eyes narrow as he braces himself against it, subconsciously baring his teeth.
“I can’t let you near Arceus,” Volo says, taking a step forward despite his fear, his Pokémon moving with him.
Eclipse waves his right hand, and a few more legendaries appear.
Volo stops moving forward. The whole cave is at a standstill.
Cheri notices strange yellow wires around the legendaries’ forms, feels psychic energy coming off of them, and then his eyes narrow as he notices a small yellow bracelet on Eclipse’s wrist. It’s barely noticeable, but it matches the wires. That must be the one.
“You know what I want,” Eclipse says. Volo’s Pokémon growl, protectively moving between the two. “All you need to do is come quietly, and all this can end. You know you deserve what’ll happen to you. It’ll save the world, even; it’ll finally redeem you, to prevent the same thing you did from happening again.”
And his grin widens, the malice surrounding im grows stronger.
“Don’t you want that?”
The manipulation leaves a bad taste in Cheri’s mouth, but he looks over at Volo, waiting to see how the interaction plays out.
“..I..” I do deserve it, but I still have my Pokémon to take care of. I don’t want to leave them behind, but if this doesn’t work, if I attack him and it ends up being for nothing, will he hurt them as retaliation for my actions?
..If I just go with, I won’t have to worry. They will be at least a little safer. The land may be different in this time, but it’s still their home region, and I trust they’ll be able to take care of themselves if needed, but..
“Are you going to return the legendaries to where you got them if I do?”
Volo’s pokemon make sounds of protests, but he holds up a hand to keep them quiet.
“Of course. I only needed them for this, after all.”
Okay. Fuck this. Cheri steps forward suddenly. “He isn’t going anywhere with you,” Cheri spits, moving between the two himself.
“And who are you? His new toy?” Eclipse sneers. “He’ll only betray you, you know; he’s betrayed everyone he’s ever gotten close to. He’ll manipulate you and then throw you aside, like he always has.”
Cheri feels the way Volo shrinks back, feels the guilt pooling off the man, and he snarls. Gods. Why does every powerful man I meet have to be SUCH a DICK? “Shut the fuck up. You think I don’t know the risks? I’m one of the guys he betrayed, and you’re still wrong for treating him like this.”
Eclipse raises an eyebrow, a spark of curiosity in his eye. “Oh really?” He tilts his head to the side. “Haven’t you noticed he’s better now? Haven’t you noticed he’s not going to try anything anymore? That change is because of me. Really, the world is better off with him in my hands-”
Cheri rushes forward. He’s reaching for the bracelet on Eclipse’s wrist, aiming to break it, and the other Pokémon in the cave rush forwards with him.
Within seconds, Mewtwo flings a bunch of their Pokémon out of the cave. Zigzag, Hydra, and Volo’s Spiritomb are frozen in a huge block of ice that Cheri narrowly avoids himself. Galarian Moltres flies past him as he dodges another blast of ice. There’s something glowing electric blue over there, but Cherry doesn’t see what it is before another ice blast blocks his vision.
Cheri can’t see Volo, but he knows Volo has Sylvie and his lucario with him, so he focuses on dodging Regiice’s attacks. With an angry scream, fire blasts from his throat, knocking Regiice out cold. One last blast of ice manages to catch his arm, and Cheri yelps as frostbite sets in-
Volo screams, a sound that reeks of agony, a bloodcurdling sound that makes Cheri’s heart drop, and he turns to Eclipse, letting his true form show, ten feet of pure protective rage aiming for Eclipse’s wrist-
Mesprit. Blast of emotion. Panic.
Frenzy.
Magic rushing in his ears. Time blurring together. Screaming, sounds so far away.
Blood flying through the air. An arm, mangled human arm, on the ground, blood pooling, blood in his mouth, between his teeth, on his hands, broken bracelet, mutilated flesh.
He tries to breathe. Everything sounds underwater, the world spinning, spinning, out of his control.
Out of control.
Out of control.
Out of control, he’s out of control-
Ribbon around his arm. A sense of calm pushes the panic away. He’s left on the ground, gasping, catching his breath, residual shakes leaving him exhausted, shifting back to his human form on instinct.
He looks up after a few moments, looking up at Sylvie, who’s staring at him with wide, terrified eyes.
“h.. Hey, buddy,” Cheri murmurs, gently scratching the top of Sylvie’s head. “You okay?”
Sylvie makes a sound, butting his head against Cheri’s chest before pulling away and dashing around the chunk of ice.
Cheri recalls the Pokémon who are still stuck in the ice, then stands on shaky legs, hurrying after Sylvie- Oh no.
Volo’s on the ground.
Cheri can’t tell if he’s conscious or not.
He rushes to Volo’s side, his uninjured hand hovering over the man, trying to figure out what’s wrong-
“Cheri,” a weak voice, and Cheri looks up at Volo’s face.
Contorted with agony. He reaches out with his magic to see where the pain is, burning blasts through his side. He pulls back.
“Is- is he gone?” Volo asks.
“Yeah, I- I think I got him, I think he’s gone,” Cheri mutters, rolling Volo over despite Volo’s cry of pain.
His shirt’s stained black in a large spot on his side. Cherry pulls it up to see a huge burn. It’s.. odd, though, it’s not a normal burn. The area around is stained black, but it isn’t charred, nothing is charred. It almost looks more like a poison than anything.
Cheri can feel the dark-type energy coming off it, sapping his own energy, and he takes a shaking breath through his mouth, trying to will away the feeling as he scoops Volo up. Volo lets out a pained sound at being moved. “Sorry,” Cheri mutters with a grimace, trying to ignore how hard it is to move his hand, how numb his arm is. Once he’s sure Volo is securely in his arms despite that, he gets Volo’s Spiritomb in its ball, then runs out of the cave.
“‘S fine, deserved,” Volo mutters, eyes slipping shut as he leans into Cheri. Cheri takes Volo’s pokeballs and recalls the injured Pokémon he finds scattered around the outside of the cave. “Can.. can you take care of them for me..?”
It’s all Cheri can do to not scream, shakes running through his entire body. “Shut up. Don’t do this shit, you’re not dying on me.” I came here to protect you, and by Arceus, I’m gonna do it.
Volo laughs, an exhausted, mirthless sound, even as a tear slips down his cheek. “It’s okay,” he whispers. “It’s okay. I deserve this. It’s okay.”
“Shut up!” Shit, I’m being a little harsh. Gods. Fuck. “Sorry, actually, don’t shut up. But stop that. You don’t deserve it.” As he talks, Cheri quickly recalls the rest of their pokemon, then he gets back to running down the mountain, not even bothering going through the caves, he knows where he’s going. He shifts back to his true form so he can jump down cliffs and land it, jumping over tree roots and fallen logs, trying his best not to jostle Volo too much.
Volo’s taking shuddering breaths, silent tears slipping down his cheeks, but he doesn’t complain at all. Self hatred, agony, and a sense of utter hopelessness is coming off of him, all of it is mixed with acceptance.
He genuinely believes he deserves this, Cheri realizes, a sick feeling building in his gut. Fucking hell.
“Why’re you doing this?” Volo murmurs, looking up into Cheri’s eyes. “You can’t seriously want to help me. What’s your motive? ”
“Is it so hard to believe I could genuinely like helping people?” Cheri spits.
He was aware of the way his voice echoes in this form, but Volo flinches at the sound.
And it reminds him that, yes, it is.
He isn’t human, after all. He isn’t even living.
He’s a vengeful spirit.
And sure, he chooses not to indulge that side of himself.
But how is Volo supposed to know that?
“Sorry, sorry,” Volo murmurs, breath hitching slightly as Cheri jumps down a cliff. Blood starts to drip down his side, and Cheri internally curses.
“It’s fine,” Cheri says, setting Volo down and tearing off pieces of his own shirt to start packing the wound and make a quick makeshift bandage. “Talk about something, anything, just.. Just keep talking.”
Volo winces in pain. “..You know the Pokémon that got me? Galarian Moltres?” He looks away, eyes unfocused. “Some say it burns your very spirit away.” He laughs, though the laugh turns into coughs. “I must be very lucky that mine’s still intact, ahaha- Ow!”
“Sorry.” Having tied the makeshift bandage tight, he quickly scoops Volo back up. “What else about galarian Moltres do you know? Any interesting legends? Anything?”
“G-galar was never really my focus,” he mutters, taking a few steadying breaths- they’re shallow, it hurts him to breathe. “I’m just..” He lets out a quiet wheeze, resting his head against Cheri’s shoulder.
There’s exhaustion radiating off him, Cheri realizes, and Cheri gets running again.
“Don’t go to sleep, I don’t know what happens if you do,” he mutters.
“Mmh..” Volo shakes his head. “Trying..”
“Good. Keep talking.” Cheri takes a shaky breath. “What about normal Moltres? Any cool legends?”
“..they’ll dive into volcanoes to heal themselves,” Volo mumbles. “And they.. bring an early spring, to cold places..” His eyes slip closed.
Cheri nods. “You know the Indigo League Flame is said to have been lit with their flames?”
“Oh yeah.. I.. I remember that.. s.. Sorry, I can’t..” Volo goes limp in his arms.
“Hey, Volo, keep talking! Volo!!” Not sensing anything from the guy at all, Cheri grimaces. “SHIT!!!” Cheri moves faster, shifting back as they get to the bottom of the mountain, not wanting to be seen by anyone who doesn’t already know in any form outside of a human one.
shit shit Shit SHIT SHIT!!! Cheri bursts out of the trees, running into Eterna City, dodging around people as he heads to the nearest hospital.
He rushes into the emergency room. “We need a doctor, now!” It comes out louder than he meant it, almost echoing, though for some reason, it’s hard to hear himself anyway.
Everything feels so far away as the emergency room suddenly turns into a rush, a stretcher coming out to take Volo away. People ask what happened, and he explains as best as he can, telling them Volo got hit with a powerful dark-type attack that sapped his energy, leaving out the legendaries and the reason for the blood staining his hands and teeth.
He.. doesn’t entirely know why that’s there. He has a faint idea, but he blocks that out on purpose.
He can process that later, he can process that he probably killed a man another day.
The doctors are concerned about it, though, so he tells them it’s from the one who attacked the two of them, and they accept that answer, bringing him back soon after for his frostbitten arm.
Time seems to stretch to forever as his injury is treated, but when he’s finally left alone, allowed to leave, it feels like no time’s passed at all. He leaves the hospital, heading straight for the Pokémon center to drop off his and Volo’s Pokémon.
Relax. Just breathe, Cheri. Just relax.
Breathe.
He takes deep breaths as he walks, wrapping his arms around himself and closing his eyes, sensing people’s feelings to determine where they are so he can avoid them.
Thankfully, he makes it to the Pokémon center without an issue, setting down the pokeballs on the nurse’s desk.
“Those six are unregistered, he- he made their balls himself,” he explains, trying to ignore the shake in his voice.
The nurse scans the pokeballs. “They look registered to me..”
Sure enough, they are registered, under a Volo Discere.
“Huh.. interesting,” Cheri mutters. Did he always have a last name? I know Volo means to want. What’s Discere..? “Okay, nevermind, then. Um- I’ve gotta go, he’s hurt. Can you take care of them while I’m gone?”
“Of course, but- Wait-!” She looks up in worry as he leaves, but he doesn’t have time to chat, making his way back to the hospital.
I need to see if he’s okay.
He heads to the nearest waiting room. Someone passes by in the hall, he recognizes her as the nurse who treated him.
“Hey!” He rushes over, catching her attention. “Volo, uh, Discere- is he okay?”
“Huh? Are.. you asking about the one you came in with?” She gives a weirdly strained smile. “They’re still fixing him up, but it’s looking like he’ll pull through.”
“Okay.. okay.” Cheri lets out a sigh of relief. “Thank you.”
She nods, rushing off, and he finally lets himself relax.
Okay.
Okay, we’re okay.
Not sure what she was freaking out about, but it should be fine..
..they’ll come to me if anything happens with him, right..? I’m probably not on his emergency contacts- he probably doesn’t have those, actually- but I AM the one who brought him here..
WOULD he have emergency contacts?? His Pokémon are registered, so maybe???
Cheri sighs, sitting in one of the chairs, leaning back with his hands clasped together behind his head. He lets his eyes slip closed, taking a few deep breaths.
Whatever the case, if he needs me, if he asks for me, I’ll be here.
After a few moments, the exhaustion of the day catches up to him.
And finally, he slips into sleep, all his day’s plans forgotten.
"will return." he mumbled, removing his mask to reveal his face. feitan always knew that y/n felt reassured by looking at him. y/n gave him a tight hug, his arms snaking behind them, giving his lover a pat on the back.
".. thank you. i love you, fei. more than you know."
"i.. know."
Wasp’s Comics Review (more like rambling, none of this is filtered thought)
Here’s some comics I’ve been reading in order to give me more motivation to keep writing the TAXONOMY!verse. Most of these are here in order to inform my personal views of characterization and how I’d write certain people based on their comics pre-2009/Bruce-Death.
Comics I have just recently finished/coming close to finishing:
Titans (1999)
Batgirl (2000)
JSA (2007)
Daredevil (2014)
Infinite Crisis
Battle for the Cowl
Blackest Night
Gotham Central
Nightwing (1999) #51-53
Robin (1993) #183
Titans (1999)
Okay, wow. I wasn’t expecting how good it would be. I started reading it mostly for Damage-Grant Emerson since I heard he had a nice relationship with Roy, and there’s a couple issues where Bette and Gar show up. Despite a few moments where the comic shows it’s age, I’m pleasantly surprised at its overall quality and character writing. Before this, I had only a little bit of prior knowledge of the Titans, so I really got to know them from this. My only gripes with it is that I don’t get to see Grant again (in a speaking/active role) after Roy drops him off at the reservation, and I think that storyline where Argent turns out to be dating a kid is weird. This comic has also given me more appreciation for Roy and Lian. I can understand Arrowfans now, Lian shouldn’t have been killed. Wtf, man. I got attached to her. I also think Roy and Cheshire’s relationship was interesting. Garth is not a huge character in this run, but I appreciate the kind of characters that are little more drama-free. (Not totally) (again, knowing Dolphin/Cerdian from this run, wtf man. Why do so many kids die in the 90s/early 2000s?!?) In conclusion, Roy Harper and Garth are now way higher up on my list of favorite DC characters. I also enjoyed Donna Troy, even though I had no prior context to all of the Dark Angel/mind wipe stuff.
Batgirl (2000)
This was a re-read, since I last read it around 2021. I forgot a pretty good portion of the early issues, so reading it again gave me renewed appreciation for the writers and Cass’s character. It reminded me just how great her character is, and definitely refreshes my ideas about her. I will be taking this in greater consideration when I get into her role in Chiroptera. I’m still not a Cass expert though, so if anyone else has some good ideas about how she would gain the Batman mantle and fight ideologically with Jason over it - thoughts are needed!!
JSA (2007)
Another re-read. Mostly here bc I needed to refresh Grant post-Zoom attack and Tom Bronson in my mind. Now that I’ve read Titans 1999, I can see how some people might take his characterization in JSA as different and a little ooc. My POV is, Grant in JSA is older so he’s gonna be different no matter what - it doesn’t bother me as much. When he shows up in the TAXONOMY!verse though, I am definitely including his familial relationship with Roy & Lian, and maybe hinting towards his brief friendship with Toni. I do think that Roy should’ve made at least one appearance in JSA for Grant.
Daredevil (2014)
My only non-DC read this month. I mostly read this bc I needed to step away from DC content, but also I like seeing the differences in the writing of vigilantes between Marvel/DC. I want to include just a bit of the grounded chaos from this Daredevil run into the au. Also, the utter insane angst that Matt goes through. This man is constantly struggling.
Infinite Crisis/Battle for the Cowl/Blackest Night
They’re…events. Not much else to say. Somehow I need to figure out how to work out the whole “Bette got teleported onto another Earth” in the au. Also, I think I will be keeping Grant’s death. Not because I like it, but because I need the emphasis of loss and grief (for Tom) for the themes of Chiroptera to work. I’m going to resurrect him eventually. No way he’s staying dead.
Gotham Central
Unrelated to the au. I just wanted to reread some Renee Montoya stuff.
Nightwing #51-53; Robin #183
Exclusively read bc it takes place right before Battle for the Cowl. This will inform a bit of my characterization for Dick and Tim. Will give a disclaimer though, I am way more familiar with Dick’s character now than I am Tim’s. I’ve read Nightwing 1996 more than once and I’ve gained further insight from Titans 1999- so hopefully I have a better idea of him. I’ve attempted to read Young Justice (1998) but I’ve never finished it yet. I’ve only read the Robin issues that crossover with No Man’s Land and War Games before this. I have my work cut out for me with Tim’s content *sigh*
Hi! Could you do a Falken x reader fic where the reader is recovering from some injuries but refuses to sit still for too long so Falken has to keep an eye on them to get them to recover properly? I too am obsessed with this man and I’m sad that there aren’t a lot of fics about him. 😔
I apologize if this sounded weird or doesn’t make sense, this is my first time requesting a fic and couldn’t figure out a good prompt to give. Love your fics btw!😁
Buh, I had a page and a half written for this and my brain tried to say 'but what if we did this instead' like, no brain I've already rewritten this once, we're sticking with this, fuck off with your shenanigans. I'll have to work on writing for Falken more so sorry if he seems ooc.
I'm glad that I'm the first person you've made a request to. It makes me happy! This was a good prompt and I think Falken fits it perfectly. Thank you for the support! <3
Anyway hope you enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Working for the Esper Union always had its risks, especially for those who weren’t espers. Some of us in the offices worked with some sensitive paperwork and reports making us targets for those wanting information, like the Shadow Decree. I myself had never had a problem with anything or anyone. Until recently, that is. I was only supposed to be working a five hour shift that day, but was asked to stay and make it a nine hour. With the shift extension, I was required to take a lunch break at the time I was originally supposed to get off, not knowing that I had some… company waiting for me.
The Shadow Decree had been tipped off to the times certain people were supposed to be off work and waited to follow them a safe distance away from the Union HQ before attacking. Unknown to them, I was just going to lunch and still had a specific device on me. One that allowed me to contact certain members of the Union regarding paperwork and questions.
I had already been messed up pretty bad by the time I remembered that I had it. Thankfully it hadn’t been broken and I quickly used it to tell them what was going on before it had been snatched out of my hands. Not too long after my device had been taken from me, Commander Falken and a couple Union Ops Chiefs had arrived and quickly took care of the Decree members with only a couple of them getting away. Falken had taken me to the med bay himself while the Ops Chiefs stayed behind to clean up the mess and make sure there wasn’t anyone lingering about.
That leaves me in the state I’m currently in. I had received some bad injuries here and there, but the main ones were a large gash on my leg and a spot on my head where I had been hit hard. The whole incident happened three or four days ago and they didn’t hurt that bad anymore, only on occasion when I step or turn wrong with that specific leg or swing my head too fast. I figured that, as long as I was careful, I could be at work. Wouldn’t want to get too behind on reports and paperwork and I felt bad that they might have shoved all of my work on someone else.
I made my way to my desk, ignoring the slight burning coming from my leg injury. No one seemed concerned about my condition, they just welcomed me back glad that I was ok. As long as I didn’t run into a certain someone I should be able to get through the work day with no problem. I didn’t need him worrying about me while he had plenty of work to do himself after all. He has a tendency to fret too much.
I stretched my injured leg out in front of me after sitting down, situating a small trash can under it to prop it up, and began to work. I was right about the build up of work and am glad I chose to come in today, anymore and I would have to put in overtime while skipping some breaks to catch up. First things first, I needed to get the paperwork organized and make sure it was all in order from when it was placed here.
Short time skip
I hadn’t been working for too long when I felt my stomach rumble. I’ll admit, I didn’t eat much for breakfast, coffee makes me feel full for some reason. Pushing my chair back, I stood and stretched before making a b-line to the lounge. There was always someone who brought snacks for everyone and if something wasn’t to my taste I could just hit up the vending machine.
Entering the lounge, I froze. Great, of course he was here at this time. Falken stood looking out the window as usual, it was something you could find him doing quite often. A favorite pastime of his. Maybe I could get past him without him noticing me. Last time I got the least bit hurt around him he wouldn’t leave me alone ‘til I let him tend to it. It was a cardstock cut. A little over the top if you ask me. Seeing as how he knew about my current state, he would undoubtedly be on my case about being here today, especially after insisting that I stay home ‘til I was better.
I quietly made my way to the fridge, not wanting to draw his attention to myself. I’ll leave him to his thoughts. “I had heard you had come in today, though I was hoping they were mistaken.” Damn it. I turned to the slim man still facing the window, my eyes meeting his through the reflection. “Commander Falken, I’m fine. Really. I just take care of paper and computer work, not much else.” He turned, stepping a foot back to face me. “It’s the stress and exertion of energy that is the problem, energy your body needs to heal itself. You’d be better much sooner if you were at home resting.” I turned back to the fridge and finally saw something that caught my attention. “I already have plenty of work piled up from just, what, three or four days? I can get caught up today and maybe take tomorrow off. I can come in every other day. How’s that?” I turned back to him, snack in hand, just in time to see him shake his head, eyes closed. “Unacceptable. Come on. Time to go.” “What? Falken, come on, I’m fine. Just let me- Ow!”I hissed and jerked away. He had made his way over to me and pressed my side, pain spiking from a forgotten wound right under my rib cage. “Well yeah it’s gonna hurt when ya do that. Ow, damn.” He stepped to the side and gestured for me to go. I sighed.
Falken followed me to my desk, where I closed down the computer and gathered the less confidential papers to take with me. “Follow me for a moment, I’d like to swing by my office and grab a couple of things.” I was confused, why would he want me to go with him. He just wanted me to go home and rest right? “Uh, ok.” We went to his office and he went through some papers and leaned over his desk, clicking a couple of things on his computer before straightening up and stretching his arms in front of him.
He grabbed a shoulder bag from a hanger on the wall. “Alright, sorry about that. Let’s go.” “Wait. What are you doing?” He stopped and blinked at me, tilting his head. “Well I’m taking you home. I’d like to make sure you’re actually resting and are properly taken care of so I’ll be accompanying you.” Heat engulfed my face and I froze. Falken was… what? Shit. It was a struggle enough to keep my composer from the sight of him at work. Now he’s gonna be with me at home. Hoo boi.
The whole walk Falken silently stayed close to my side, every now and then getting a notification and typing away on his device. I walked mindlessly, trying not to think about the situation or the pain building up in my leg. My head also started to become just a bit woozy, I’d been standing too long at this point. I hadn’t realized where we were going until I had stepped through the door. That’s when it hit me. This wasn’t my place.
“Falken? I thought we were going to my place.” He turned back to me. “Hm? Ah, apologies. I forgot to mention that. Why don’t you come sit on the couch, I’ll get you some tea.” “I- sure, I guess.” Did he just change the subject on me. Whatever, I’m already here. I made my way to the living room and sat down, resting my head in my hands for a moment. “What kind of tea do you prefer: lavender chamomile, earl grey, green tea, peppermint, oh, I just got this new blueberry hibiscus herbal tea.” Without thinking I got up, a slight burn blooming from the injury, and made my way to where his voice was coming from, leading me to the kitchen. I went over to see what all he had. “What are you doing?” “Huh?” “Go lay down on the couch, I’ll get you some tea and something to eat. You need to stay off that leg and rest your head.” He shooed me away. “Now go.” I squinted at him. “Green tea or lavender chamomile sounds good.”
I sat on the couch again this time laying along it. Falken entered not too long after with two mugs, placing one on the coffee table in front of me and the other on a stand between the couch and a chair. He left momentarily, returning with the bag he had brought with him, pulling out a laptop and making himself comfortable in the chair. “Thank you, Falken.” “You’re welcome, I hope you like it. You should get some sleep after you’ve finished, your wounds will heal faster.”
I drank the tea while scrolling around on my phone, nothing really catching my interest. Setting the now empty mug down I stared at the ceiling, mind wandering aimlessly. Until a melody played in my head. I knew instantly what it was and I smiled, no better way to pass the time than by watching movies. I searched through my movie app and quickly found it. Alice in Wonderland, the live action from many years ago. Making myself comfy, I started the movie, keeping the volume low so as to not bother Falken.
I was about twenty minutes in when he spoke up, I think just realizing that I was watching something. “What are you doing? You should be trying to sleep.” “I just wanted to watch a movie, the song kept playing in my head and wouldn’t leave me alone. Besides, I’ll probably fall asleep while watching this anyway, so...” He sighed. “Fine, but just this one. Then you’ll get some sleep. Alright?” “Mhm!” I started the movie again smiling as it played, unaware of Falken glancing at me from his laptop with a small smile forming under the face mask he wore.
Within thirty minutes I was almost completely out, the movie still playing as my phone fell from my hands. The thunk it made woke me slightly, but I didn’t bother to pick it up. Instead opting to continue laying there and going back to sleep. I could hear movement from Falken, footsteps approaching the couch. The rustling of fabric giving away him crouching next to me, picking up my phone and placing it on the table. A gentle touch caressed my cheek, thumb stroking my cheekbone, before tucking some hair behind my ear. Then the lightest feeling brushed against my forehead and the scent of his cologne invaded my senses, my heart now pounding in my chest.
I smiled and snuggled into the blanket I had pulled from the back of the couch, hoping that he would just brush it off as me moving in my sleep. Finally beginning to drift off, I hoped I would remember this moment when I woke up.

avengers x teen!fem!reader
summary: you get captured during a mission and the team saves you.
warnings: language, violence, brief misogyny, torture, **NO sexual assault (because as i was proofreading, i only implied most of the torture scenes because i didn't want to write it in graphic detail and i realised the vague wordings might be misinterpreted as sexual assault which IT IS NOT, just clearing it up), and also again, my inability to write good endings
word count: 4589
notes: i just rewatched iron man 2 so that explains justin hammer LMAO also ooc justin hammer because even tho mans evil, he gets extremely um.. cruel here but anyways i hope you enjoy this!!
you were 13 when you first met the avengers and 16 when you officially joined. you grew up as one of HYDRA's experimented children and the team had found you when they raided the base that you were in.
a small, sickly-looking kid you were, sat against your cell wall, hugging your knees. 13 but you could probably pass off as a 10 year old due to how malnourished and miserable you were. burying your head in between your knees, you covered your ears as the loud gunshot noises filled the whole place. the metal door of your cell slamming open against the wall had you whimpering, hands above your head in fear.
every time the door slammed open, guards would come drag you out for more experiments so it was an instinct for you to cower in fear at the sound.
"last room in the west hall, i found a little girl."
you heard nothing because you were covering your ears, preparing yourself to be forcefully dragged by the guards to the experiment room. but it never came.
"hey," a soft voice called. you were violently shaking at this point, breathing heavily as you tried to calm down. "hey, it's okay." the voice called out again and you felt them touch your shoulders.
your head immediately jolted up, flinching away from the stranger's touch. your eyes met a blue pair as you backed away into the corner in fear. "i'm sorry! i'm sorry, i didn't mean to." the man apologised. you slowly looked up at him, observing him. he had on a full black outfit, a quiver of arrows slinging on his shoulder and he was holding onto a bow.
"don't be scared. i'm here to help," he states with his hands out, as if to calm you down. "that's what they all say." you hissed through gritted teeth and a tear-stained face, glaring at him even though that could've been a very wrong move had it been with an actual HYDRA guard.
despite the strange feeling of being safe around this man, you didn't let your guard down. that's exactly what those scientists said seven years ago. trusting kind-looking men got you into this hell you never thought you would ever escape from and you weren't going to make the same mistake again.
"clint," a red-headed female, also in all black, entered through the open door of your cell with her pistol up. at the sight of the weapon, you broke your glare towards the man. your breathing quickened and you went back to your original position before the archer came; body pressed up against your knees and covering your ears with your palms.
"i'm sorry! i'm sorry! i'll come! please don't use that on me again," you whimpered, voice muffled as your face was hidden against your knees. the woman freezes mid-walk, looking at her friend with a bewildered expression.
"nat! put that away!" clint whispered harshly, eyes glaring at the pistol in nat's hands. nat's jaw dropped in realisation, a small gasp leaving her lips as she immediately put away her weapon.
she slowly makes her way to you and clint puts his arm out before she could get closer. he looks at her with a worried expression as he shook his head, as if telling her that she can't get too close to you. nat nods understandingly, crouching down a distance from you.
"hey," she spoke softly. "i promise you that we're not here to hurt you." you kept your face hidden from her, still hugging your legs tightly. nat sighs before sitting down.
"here, let's introduce ourselves. i'm nat and this right here is clint." you hear her speak and when you slowly lifted up your head, you saw the both of them sitting down in front of you, seeming to have made themselves at home in your pathetic cell. "what's your name?"
name? you had never been able to use your name before. you always kept your own name deep in your heart despite no one ever using it, afraid you would forget it if you stopped thinking of it. the only name they ever called you here was 'number five'.
"y/n," you whispered, still doubtful about these people's intentions. you almost burst out crying when you said your name out loud. that was the first time you introduced yourself with your actual name and not the number you were given ever since you were captured.
nat must have noticed this because she immediately spoke up, trying to distract you from your consuming thoughts. "y/n...that's a pretty name for a pretty girl like you. how old are you, y/n?" she asks again.
you contemplated once more but decided it was fine. you knew you were probably going to regret trusting these two strangers but what could be worse than what HYDRA has been doing to you for years?
"13," you muttered, looking down at your lap. you were now timidly seated cross-legged, playing with the tattered hem of your shorts. you heard a small gasp from one of them and looked up to see clint with his jaw dropped.
the two adults were both thinking of the same thing. how could you be 13? you were so small and sickly-looking, they didn't even think you were older than ten, let alone an early teen.
"i know you're scared and you have all the reasons in the world to be, but i promise you, we're here to help. we'll get you out of here, only if you trust us. will you trust us?" nat says. your mind was conflicted. you were either going to finally get out of this hellhole or you were going to be taken somewhere even worse than here. but could anywhere really be worse than here?
you decided to take a leap of faith and trust these two strangers. that decision had to have been the best decision you've ever made in your life.
you were now 18, an official avenger and you had the most amazing family you could've ever asked for. they were a bit on the crazier side but could you really have a normal family when said family consisted of superheroes? but you weren't complaining. you loved these people.
they were the ones who took care of you when you thought you had no one. having been a HYDRA experiment, you had abilities the normal human didn't. said ability being shapeshifting and healing. that's why you became an avenger. your shapeshifting ability was essential during missions where you had to sneak in and you being able to heal others was crucial when medic wasn't able to be there on time.
you pretty much came along to every mission despite the adults saying you don't have to. you knew they were only doing that to protect you from dangers of all those missions but how could you not when you had such abilities? they'd be much better with you helping.
that was why you were here, in bulgaria, fighting alongside the team. well, just steve, nat, clint, bucky and tony.
justin hammer had managed to get his hands on a type of out-of-this-planet weapon that tony was also trying to retrieve, and he had big plans with it. hence why the avengers had to come where hammer had wrecked havoc in; sofia, bulgaria. he had upgraded his robots with the tech used for the stolen weapon.
with evil robots attacking the whole city, it felt like you were living the story that wanda told you of what happened in sokovia before you met the avengers.
an hour passed before all of the robots had finally been taken down and you all knew you had to get to hammer before he activates more robots to distract you guys and uses the weapon for bad things.
"tony, have you located hammer?" steve's voice sounded in your ear through the comms. you had just finished healing the nasty gash on clint's side, nat's cut on her forehead and the bruises all over bucky. you were feeling significantly weaker now, from the amount of healing you did. you stumbled slightly when you walked and bucky immediately held onto your arm. "doll, are you okay?"
"i'm fine, buck. nothing i haven't dealt with before," you told him, gently removing his grip on your arm, walking back to the quinjet.
-
"no, absolutely not. we are not sending y/n right into a death trap. she's not even strong enough right now, she just finished healing us."
you were all back at the compound now and planning a second attack on justin hammer.
"it's not a death trap, buck. and i know you're worried but she's the only choice we got. y/n, all you gotta do is sneak in as one of his henchmen and provide entrance for us. once we get in, we'll take all his guards down and get that weapon from hammer and we won't have to worry about his world domination plans anymore. it'll be over as soon as it starts and she'll be back safe with us. sound good, y/n/n?"
"yeah, sure." you agreed, already having a person in mind that you were going to change yourself to.
-
the plan had gone just as steve wanted and they managed to raid justin hammer's building, tony stealing the very item that could've aided in the massacre of millions. justin and his henchmen managed to escape the building before the avengers could catch them.
"well, that was anticlimactic," tony scoffs, already making his way to the quinjet. "but good job, y/n. you saved the day once again."
he expected to hear a laugh from you, like you usually did, being the only one who ever responds to him after missions. but instead he was met with silence. "kid?" still no answer.
"y/n, where are you?" steve panicked, finally realising that you were the only one who hasn't responded in a hot minute. "y/n/n, this isn't funny." he breathed out.
"she's...she's gone."
-
"well, well, well," a voice spoke right as you woke up from your slumber. you squinted, noticing that you were in some sort of dark room with only one light bulb right above you. "what do we have here?"
a figure walks right in the light and you could barely make out justin hammer's ugly face with how dizzy you felt. "if it isn't the little freak." he states condescendingly, smirking down at your helpless position, both wrists and ankles cuffed onto the metal chair you were sat on. you struggled against the restraints, trying to get free but to no avail.
your breathing quickened, your current vulnerable state reminding you of your later years in HYDRA. they had started off experimenting on you on a metal gurney but as you grew older, you realised that what they were doing to you was bad so you started fighting back. that ended you up on a metal restraint chair instead of the gurney, strapped to the chair with cuffs on your wrists and ankles.
this felt like deja vu. the same panic you felt, the same breathing difficulties, the same amount of effort put into trying to get out of the restraints. "you should know, princess, that that doesn't work." hammer chuckled, a fake pout on his lips as he crouched in front of you, a rough hand on your cheek. you instinctively jerked away from his touch, to which he paid no mind to because he had expected that. he then grabbed your chin harshly, turning your head up towards him. you glared at him.
"you think i didn't know what you did? snuck in as one of my men using your freaky powers? not to mention useless. imagine having powers but not being able to use them to even escape from mere humans," he laughs in your face, harshly letting go of your chin, throwing your head backwards. "you tell me where stark planned to bring the weapon and i'll let you pretty little thing go."
"no."
before you could even comprehend, his fist came flying at your face and your head dropped to the side at the impact. your left cheekbone was throbbing and you could already tell you were gonna have a black eye. despite the pain, it wasn't something you weren't used to. you were an avenger, after all. getting decked in the face was practically in the contract.
he grabbed your chin once again, pulling your head upwards to face him. "you're gonna tell me where it is or i'm gonna make you regret it."
you looked up at him with a bored look. he punched you again. and again. and again. until you could taste the blood on your tongue. "think you wanna tell me now, sweetheart?"
"never. not to someone like you."
the man seemed to get a kick out of beating you up because he punched you again in the face. your whole face was pretty much numb now and the metallic taste in your mouth intensified. you smirked at the man before you, chuckling darkly.
"sure, beat up the helpless girl. that's the only way you can beat me, right? when i'm all tied up? what a man,"
his hand was around your throat within a second and he forced you to look him in the eyes again. "sweetheart, you're a girl. tied or not, you're still weak. not even with that useless power of yours."
taking advantage of how close his face was to yours, you gathered as much bloody saliva in your mouth before spitting it in his face.
it was very much the wrong thing to do because after he wiped off his face, he left the room and two men came in, various tools in hand for their fun with you.
-
"stark! my buddy! how's it going?" justin hammer's face appeared on the screen in the conference room, where the avengers were having a meeting about your possible whereabouts.
"where is she?!" wanda growled, standing up abruptly.
"what ever do you mean?" hammer smirked, feigning innocence. "you know what we mean. where is she?" steve spoke authoritatively, trying to control his anger at the sight of the man's face.
"i'll tell you where your thing is if you tell me where my thing is." he smiled wickedly. this caused wanda to get angrier. "y/n is not a thing! and the weapon was never yours in the first place!" vision held onto her to calm her down and it worked because she sat back down, though still glaring at the screen.
"oh she's not a thing? seems like it to me, though." he smirked and the team frowned, not understanding what he meant until they heard screams and justin's smirk widening at the sound. what a sick bastard. "what are you doing to her?!" bucky screamed, knocking his chair back as he stood up.
"i don't know, you tell me." he chuckles, and the screen changes to the live footage of you in the restraint chair with the two men in the room.
you were no longer fighting back now, just sat limply with your head dropped to the side. the first hour with them, you had been fighting back like you did with justin, despite the restraints, but now entering the second hour, you were too exhausted for anything.
your left eye had been swollen shut, you could barely breathe through your nose, your cheeks were throbbing like hell and your bottom lip was busted. your head was the only thing that moved freely when hit so the men seemed to find satisfaction the most when they punched you in the face. though that didn't stop them from inflicting pain on other parts of you.
"let her go, she's just a kid!" sam exclaimed, his grip on the edge of the table tightening to control his anger. peter and wanda were crying looking at the awful state you were in, clint, tony and bruce were silent in shock, steve and bucky were getting increasingly angry as the abuse continued.
"are you going to tell us where stark is keeping the weapon or have you not gotten enough?" one of the two men was heard asking, pulling your hair back to make you look up at him. you look at with your half-opened right eye, breathing heavily. "my answer's never gonna change no matter how many times you ask."
he scoffs, stepping back before the other man swings a bat right at your stomach. the air was immediately knocked out of your lung. the men laughed as you coughed up blood profusely. this caused wanda to get more hysterical.
"well, looks like she wants more. i'll call back when she's had enough. toodles," he waves his fingers at the camera with a sinister smirk before abruptly ending the call.
the room went silent after the call, save for bucky and sam breathing heavily from the anger they felt. bucky then turned to steve, pain could be seen on his face. "you said she would be safe."
"i–i'm sorry, buck. i didn't know he was gonna take her with him." steve was still frozen in shock, the image of you on the chair now permanently ingrained in his brain. in everyone's brains actually.
"guys, gear up, he's in colorado."
all heads turned towards natasha and she looked back at them with a 'what?' expression. "you were tracking him down the whole time?"
"um, duh? now come on, gotta save our girl."

you awoke to a stinging sensation on your inner forearm. after your bloody coughing fit, they proceeded to beat you up again and you were knocked out then. now you were slowly regaining consciousness but you were starting to prefer being passed out. your whole body was in pain and the fact that you couldn't even move made it even worse.
"oh, lookie here. sleeping beauty is up." you were met once again with justin hammer's ugly face. he was sitting on a chair perpendicular to your left side. you couldn't wait to get out of here so you didn't have to keep seeing his face every time you woke up. your inner forearm was stinging even more now so you looked down at it. you gasped at the sight.
"how'd you like my artwork?" he chuckled at your reaction. there on your arm, obviously carved out with the bloody knife that the asshole was so proudly holding on to, was 'FREAK'. carved out big and bold. on your skin. "pretty fitting, eh? freak? because, you know, that's what you are."
the blood was seeping out through the cuts and it stung even more now that it had been exposed to the air. the asshole moved his chair to your other side. "what should i write on this arm?" he feigns a thinking expression, looking up thoughtfully with his thumb and pointer finger on his chin.
"please, i–i don't know where tony put it. i really don't." you cried, tears now flowing freely down your face without a shame.
he looks at you with amusement. "what is this? are you...are you giving up already? can't take anymore?" he smirks and you sigh, closing your eyes. you just awoke but you were exhausted. so, so exhausted.
he takes out his phone, the smirk now permanent on his ugly face. "stark! kid's finally had enough. wanna tell me where the weapon is now or do you want to find her body at the bottom of the ocean?"
you couldn't even be bothered to react to his statement. the pain all finally registered and you were tired. tired and in excruciating pain.
"kinda busy right now, can you call back later?" you could hear tony's voice sound from justin's phone and the man beside you laughed. "i see you don't care for the girl. what could possibly be more important than saving her?"
"i don't know, you tell me." a voice said from behind you two and before you knew it, hammer was knocked off the chair he was on. you weakly turned your head just in time to see a metal arm force hammer up onto his feet before wrapping around his neck. "don't you fucking touch her again."
"y/n!" you heard wanda's voice as she entered the room with peter. more tears flowed down your face at the sight of them, stinging when they rolled past the cuts on your face but that didn't matter. your family was finally here to save you.
you saw the red mist of wanda's powers surround your cuffs before they clicked open. "oh, bubs, i'm so sorry." she cried, both hands hovering around your face, hesitating to touch you in fear of hurting you. her eyes fell onto the words carved out onto your skin and her mouth fell open before covering it with her hand. "i'm so sorry we couldn't get to you sooner." peter's voice cracked and you could tell he was emotional.
"it's okay," you told them, giving them a small smile, the biggest one you could give in your current state.
tony, sam and steve entered the room to see bucky relentlessly beating up your captor and wanda and peter standing by you as you cried.
"cupcake, we're here now. don't cry, you're safe now." tony came closer and despite knowing that you were because your family was finally here, you couldn't help but let out all the pent up emotions you've kept throughout your time of captivity.
sam had a go at justin once bucky was done and steve had to physically pry them both off of the sick bastard so that nat could cuff him and bring him back to the jet.
"y/n/n, i'm so sorry. if i hadn't–"
"it's okay, stevie." you cut him off. truthfully, you only did so because you knew he was going to giving a long-winded explanation justifying his actions and your headache couldn't bear to hear lengthy sentences. but you also didn't think it was in any way his fault so he didn't deserve to be beating himself up for this. shit happens, anyway.
"let's get you out of here, doll." bucky says, cringing when he sees the blood on the floor of your chair, as well as on your clothes. he quickly reaches to lift you off the chair but stops when you let out an ear-piercing scream of pain. "doll, i'm so sorry! did i hurt you?!" bucky questions in panic.
"y–you didn't, they did. it...it hurts everywhere," you cried, feeling hopeless that you couldn't even bear being carried by someone, let alone get up by yourself. their hearts broke when you said that. you never really cried much in front of them and you were known to withstand pain well because of how much shit HYDRA put you in as well as your powers being healing, meaning you had a higher pain tolerance than most people.
"it's okay, bubs. i got you. let's get you home, alright?" wanda's calming voice broke you out of your breakdown and red mist surrounded your whole body, wanda moving you with her powers. you were thankful of that because it didn't cause any more pain to your body.
maybe hammer was right. maybe you are just a freak with useless powers. wanda floated you into the jet and she set you down on the bed. "y/n, oh my god!" clint cried out once he sees you. you looked much worse than you did on hammer's camera footage during the call an hour ago. "kid, i'm so sorry."
"clint, take the wheel. bruce doesn't have all the resources needed. she needs to be treated ASAP." nat tells her best friend and he nods, taking the wheel and immediately taking off once everyone had boarded.
you were laid on the bed, right eye slightly open as bruce examined you. exhaustion hit you like a truck and before you knew it, you blacked out.
-
"how is she, doc?"
"pretty banged up but y/n, as i already knew, is a strong girl. lots of internal bleeding, broken bones, bruises and scars but she'll be fine. you can check her file later if you want," doctor cho tells tony outside of your room. "it's fine, can we see her?" he asks on behalf of the whole team standing behind him.
"yeah, of course! she woke up five minutes ago. i'll be off now, call me or my team if you need anything." she bids goodbye and left the group of superheroes.
steve slowly opens the door and there you were in bed, staring up at the ceiling. "hey, y/n/n," he greets sheepishly, feeling as though he had interrupted your alone time of blankly staring at the ceiling. the team trailed in behind him and soon your bed was surrounded by the avengers.
"hi, cupcake."
you looked away from the ceiling and turned your head towards tony. "oh, hey tones." you smile as sam helps you sit up while the rest sat on chairs all around you. "how you feeling, bub?" nat asks, eyes flickering down to the bold scarring of letters on your forearm.
"as okay as i can be." you answered truthfully, pressing your inner forearm closer to your body so the team doesn't see the letters carved onto your skin. you already know what you are, you didn't need the rest thinking so too.
"you're not a freak, bubs."
you look up at wanda. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean to read your mind. but they were awfully loud. you're not a freak, y/n. and you're not useless too. that bastard may have carved out that word onto your skin but the scar will fade. it's not permanent. you know why? because that's not what you are." she tells you, taking off her jacket to wrap it around you because you felt self conscious of the scars all over your arms where the team could see.
"yeah, doll. you're an amazing person and your powers help us so much. i mean, you saved millions just helping us get the weapon back from justin hammer. if you hadn't, well, who knows what could've been happening right now?" he places a gentle hand at the side of your head, stroking your hair.
"yeah and who heals us when we get really hurt during missions, huh? i mean, if you hadn't healed that stab wound i got during that mission in new mexico, i probably wouldn't even be here at this moment." clint tells you and you roll your eyes at him. "you're exaggerating."
"i am not!" he laughed and you playfully rolled your eyes once again.
"y/n/n, i'm really sorry for—"
"i don't wanna hear it, stevie."
"but–"
"no. it's not your fault. shit happens." you brush him off. "lang–"
"you say language to me, i'll blame this shit on you even when it's not your fault. try me, rogers." you glare at the blond super soldier. he raises his arms in surrender, leaning back on his chair as the team laughs.
the team continue to entertain you and you couldn't help but smile at the sight in front of you. these were the people who would drop anything for you and were willing to dropkick any asshole in the face for hurting you. justin hammer never had a chance against your family to begin with.

Transferring to a new school could bring all kinds of things. New friends, new enemies, new opportunities. What you didn't expect was to grab the attention of one of the most well-known students at U.A.
Bakugou Katsuki. Really making his name at the sports festival, and now being one of the best students in his third-year class. You had transferred at the beginning of the semester, not really expecting to make it in considering you would be a third-year as well, but somehow you passed the exams, and here you are.
You thought making this change would bring better luck into your life, but you're getting the same exact shit as you did at your last school. You're sitting by yourself at lunch, not something that you mind, but it gets hard for anyone to ignore the comments and snickers from the people you know are talking about you.
Your quirk is one that causes you to succumb to teasing insults that you've gotten used to. People saying the same things over and over again. Calling you "trashy" or saying that your abilities and strength were just "trash" in general. People telling you that you were "garbage" and you would never make it as a pro-hero.
You hear the same thing over and over and over again, and you're used to it, but it doesn't make them any less annoying. You try to eat as fast as you can, so you can get out of the cafeteria as soon as possible when said student walks up to your table.
"Who are you?" You play dumb, looking at him before you shrug.
"Why?" It seems like he's "calmed down" as some people say since his first year, but there's still some times where his buttons are easy to push, and you have a hard time stopping the grin on your face. "Did I do something wrong?" you ask innocently, but you have a pretty good idea why he's approaching you.
You were all back from your patrols for some quick training, everyone telling their friends what new things they had learned, and everyone was given the opportunity to show what they learned. For you though, it was more of a test in a way to see where you stand amongst your classmates.
But to your fucking luck, you had to show "your skills" against Bakugou. He was the villain and you were the hero. Nobody really knew about your quirk and what you could do, and you used it to your advantage. You were able to dodge all of the hits he threw your way, barely missing an explosion.
It blew past your head, catching you off guard, and that gave him the opportunity to knock you off your feet. You hit the ground, wincing at the impact of your ass meeting the ground, but you suddenly realized that there were broken pieces of the building from where Bakugou's explosion had hit it.
You react quickly, using the debris to create a makeshift trap. You move quickly, nailing him with a roundhouse kick that you know had the potential to almost knock him out, and he hits the ground. You manage to trap him in a way where he can't get out, the material of the trap making it difficult for Bakugou to make his way out of, and he only manages to break free once the timer runs out.
Everyone's surprised, and to be completely honest, you were too. When you got back to where the rest of the students are, you were immediately crowded by them, hearing different questions ranging from what is your quirk to how does it work. You didn't really answer, being overwhelmed with all of the attention, but the next assignments were being called, so eventually, the attention was taken off of you.
You were able to sneak off after you changed out of your hero suit, managing to find a seat towards the back of the cafeteria, so Bakugou must've been on a mission in order to find you.
"Your quirk. How does it work?" he asks next, and you give him a playful smile.
"Did it take you by surprise? I could tell," you muse, and he rolls his eyes. You're amused by the whole situation, but the smile on your face drops when he sits down in front of you. He looks at you without saying anything, and you have to look away, your gaze meeting your empty tray before you sigh, looking at him again. "I can turn any type of trash or debris into anything I want," you explain simply. "Kinda like recycling."
You take the napkin on your tray, concentrating on it before it turns into an index card right in front of his eyes. He doesn't look that impressed, but you don't really care. You raise an eyebrow at him as to say "see?" and he grabs it, flipping it over between his fingers.
"What's the drawback?"
"The bigger something is, the harder it is for me to change it into anything. If I push myself too hard, I get really tired or pass out. If that happens, everything I've turned goes back to what it was."
He just nods with a small hum, and your ears suddenly tune into the laughter near you that you swear has gotten louder. You look over to your left, seeing the same people that were making you the center of their laughing, but the group is bigger now. Bakugou looks in your direction just as you look away, and you start to stand when he speaks.
"Are they--"
The bell cuts him off, and you gather your tray quickly. "Hope that information prepares you for next time," you say smugly, walking away towards the trashcan, and you know he's following after you, but you disappear into the crowd before he can reach you.
Tumblr media
Apparently, grabbing Bakugou's attention means that other people start to pay attention to you, which is the last thing you need. You walk through the hallway with your head down mostly, keeping to yourself. You're not unconfident in yourself, you just don't care to deal with people who mess with you because you've been dealing with that since your quirk manifested.
Since then, you've been running and running from something that continues to chase you. And you don't know when it'll end.
On top of it all, you always feel his eyes on you, everywhere you go. You're almost tempted to just throw something at him, and you try to ignore it, but it feels like his quirk is in his stare, burning into you. So far, you've managed to slide past him, barely escaping, and for a while, you believe you're in the clear.
You take a breath of relief when your classes end early, mostly because everyone is going off to work with the heroes they've chosen. You, on the other hand, hadn't really had a chance to do that, far behind your classmates because you've started on this journey so late. The teachers say you have potential, but it never really does a good job of convincing you.
Instead of going straight to the dorms, you decided to walk through the city. It's something you've found to be really comforting because, in the city, you're blended in with everyone else. No one knows who you are, and no one is around to talk shit. It's just you and the bustling world around you.
You're walking through a small park, running your fingers over some of the flowers, and you sigh as you crouch down. "Why are you following me?"
You don't look to see if he's there, the footsteps that get closer behind you prove your statement. "You're kinda full of yourself, aren't you?"
You huff as you stand, turning around to meet Bakugou, your head lifting to look him in the eyes. "You're telling me that you're not following me? That Bakugou Katsuki walks in parks during his free time?"
"Why aren't you working?" You glance down at his hero uniform, looking at his gauntlets, and then back at him, resting your weight on one foot as you shrug.
"Why are you by yourself?" You counter the question with your own, and you can see his eyebrow lift under his mask.
"It's called patrol. Now answer my question."
"So, you're supposed to be on patrol, but you're bothering an innocent citizen?" you respond, smiling wider when you see him huff in annoyance. His voice is rough, but it's not as brash as it used to be. The raspiness of his voice soft in its own way.
"Why am I asking questions and giving answers?" he asks next, and you have another quip on your lips, but it suddenly dies as a shiver runs up your spine. He frowns at your sudden facial change, and he yells after you when you start running.
He follows after you, and you freeze when you get back into the city. "What the fuck has gotten--"
Before he can finish, there's an explosion. It shakes the ground, causing you both to wobble, and he grabs onto you to keep you from falling, and you slip from him again, running towards the noise. He's quick to go after you as you both fight against the gradient of people running in the opposite direction of you. You get to a clearing, seeing fire coming from one of the buildings and on the ground next to it.
You're about to run, hoping to save anyone before it's too late, but Bakugou stops you. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Helping. Where are the other heroes?"
"They're on the other side of town." You shake your head, and he pulls on you when you try to run again. You're about to yell in frustration when you hear another explosion, and then the next thing you feel is his arms around you, and your feet flying off the ground.
He's managed to move you both back away from another explosion by shooting his own, and he lets you go as you both look at the city becoming straight chaos. "We don't have time," you stress.
"I'm not letting you--"
"And I'm not arguing with you," you snap. "You find the cause, I'll take care of the civilians." You run off into the smoke before he can stop you, sighing heavily but he moves anyway, looking for whoever or whatever caused this.
You help anyone you see wounded, guiding people out of buildings that are a step from collapsing. When the debris starts to fall, you manage to make it into an arch just in time to keep it from falling on anyone. You hold it, waiting for everyone to get out, but you're too distracted by the safety of everyone else. You've left your guard down just enough that even more parts of the building falling start to break down your arch.
You once again feel yourself flying through the air, watching your arch crumble under the bricks. "Are you trying to kill yourself?"
"What caused the explosion?" you question, completely ignoring him as he lands on the ground. "If it's a villain, we need to contain them."
"And what plan do you have? Help isn't coming any time soon." You look at him in disbelief. "They're dealing with their own problems."
You mull it over in your head, but not for long. "Lead them into the hole on the side of the building."
"And do what?"
"Cover me. When I tell you to move, you move." Bakugou wants to scream in exasperation when you run off again without him getting a word in, but he follows your lead anyway. He manages to find the villain, and he manages to tackle them before they can activate their quick and cause another explosion.
He noticed that if they make contact with the buildings, they can make parts of them explode with their own free will. He tries to keep damage to a minimum, eyeing where the citizens are standing, seeing that the ambulances and fire trucks are starting to arrive.
The villain gets the upper hand, slamming his back against the wall of the building, and he's able to use a blast to get them away from the wall. He figures hand-to-hand might be the best bet to keep the villain in the same area. If he uses his blasts or moves the villain too much, it could do more harm than good.
He keeps his surroundings in his eyes at all times, gearing the villain towards the hole unknowingly. He doesn't see you anywhere, and the villain manages to swing kick his legs, sending him to the ground. The villain is standing over him when he finally hears you scream his name.
He looks past the villain to see you crouched down, and he quickly blasts away from the villain just in time to miss being caught in a metal box. He watches it form almost out of the debris from the building nearly instantly, and he makes it back towards you. Your hands are on the ground, essentially keeping the box in its form.
"We need..." You groan as you shake your head, sweat dripping down your face. "To incapacitate him somehow," you grunt, and Bakugou notices how hard you're breathing. "I can't let the box fall. He can't use his quirk in there, right?"
So you noticed too. "Yeah, but what about you?" You look like you're a second from passing out, your eyes starting to go half-lidded, and you shake your head.
"I have an idea, but time isn't on our side if we want it to work." You've dodged his question again, but he doesn't worry about it now. "I'm gonna open the box, and if you get him against the wall, I can trap him against it."
You groan again as you throw your head back, your body shaking. "That's too risky," Bakugou tries, and you finally look at him.
"What other choice do we have?!" Bakugou is torn, but there's really nothing else you can go. He can't fight the villain for long because he'll have the upper hand, and there's a greater chance for people to get hurt. Bakugou huffs as he shakes his head, but gets his hands ready.
"On your signal."
You take a few deep breaths, shaking your head. "Now." You quickly morph the wall of the box open, and Bakugou moves quickly, catching the villain before he can even register that there's a way out.
He pushes him against the wall, moving as soon as you tell him to, and within a split second, the villain is struggling against the wall, the metal wrapped around his body, keeping him flush against it. Bakugou sighs, distancing himself to make sure he doesn't have any other tricks up his sleeve.
He turns around, panicking when he sees you start to fall over. He's quick to catch you before you fall. "How...much longer?" You're trembling ridiculously now, and Bakugou knows that this is the stupidest plan he's ever been a part of. You wince as you shake yourself out of his hold, and go back into the position you were in, except this time, you're on both of your knees, your head dropped between your shoulders.
You let your head fall to the ground, concentrating as hard as you can, ignoring the immense pain and fatigue you're feeling, the adrenaline not working its magic anymore.
"Dammit, how long until I can get some help?!" Bakugou yells into his comms.
"We're wrapping up here, ten minutes give or take," he hears back.
"I don't have ten fucking minutes! She's about to fucking collapse right now!" You focus on Bakugou's yelling because it's grounding you enough to stay awake even though you're feeling light-headed. Now, that you can barely think about it, it would've been smarter to try and trap him in something smaller, keeping him from moving. But you weren't thinking that far ahead, and now you're not even sure you can keep the villain contained.
"You have to stay awake, okay?" It's Bakugou, his voice right next to your ear, and you weakly shake him off.
"Don't....tell me....what to do," you manage, and Bakugou swears as he stands.
"I need to just knock him out."
"No." He barely hears it, but he looks at you like you're insane.
"Why the fuck not?"
"It'll look awful on camera," you say quietly. "Plus....I can hold it."
"No, you can't!" he screams, but you don't budge, and he's about to do it anyway when you collapse further onto the ground, cough slash sobs coming from you.
"Bakugou!" He snaps his head around, wondering why the hell Todoroki is here, but he doesn't question it.
"Freeze the fucking villain!" He doesn't hesitate, doing what he says, and just as he wraps him in ice, the box falls, and Bakugou looks at you to see you lying unmoving on the ground.
Tumblr media
When you wake up, the first thing you hear is beeping, and you instantly assume that you're in the hospital. You try to move your head, but it fucking hurts, so you wince before you groan. You move it anyway, your breathing picking up as you fight the pain.
"You're a dumbass."
You roll your eyes under your eyelids. "Love hearing that first thing when I wake up," you tease, a small smile on your face. "What happened to the villain?"
"He's been arrested, but you shouldn't be worrying about that," he counters.
"Was anybody really hurt?" Your stubbornness really pisses him off, and he scoffs, his turn to roll his eyes.
"No, there were no severe injuries." You wince as you turn your head, trying to open your eyes even though your eyelids feel like they're being weighed down by anvils. "Why didn't you tell me about the pain?"
You try to wave him off, but it comes out as a weak movement of your fingers. "It's neither here nor there."
"That would've been really important for me to know," he argues. Your blinking is slow, trying to keep your eyes open wide enough to look at him, but your vision is still a little blurry, so you just opt to keep your eyes closed.
"If I didn't know better, it sounds like you were worried about me, Bakugou."
"Worried would be an understatement." You don't have to open your eyes to know that the voice belongs to Aizawa, and you don't because you really can't. You know a lecture is coming, but he doesn't elaborate on what he said. "How are you feeling?"
"I've been better," you reply simply. "Some pain medicine would be amazing though."
"I'll see what I can do." You can tell there's a hint of a chuckle in his voice before his words go back to serious. "You do realize that what you did was very dangerous."
You roll your eyes again under your eyelids. "And reckless, blah blah blah," you drawl. "Can we please skip all of this?" you plead, and you try to get your eyes to open, and you're glad that you can at least squint at Aizawa. It isn't much, but it's better than having your eyes closed. "I've learned my lesson, and I won't do it again."
Aizawa's about to speak when someone walks in, and you can't really see who it is until they stop next to Aizawa, and you see that it's Edgeshot. If you weren't in the state you were in, you would be fucking fangirling.
"I just wanted to apologize to the both of you for leaving you by yourself in such a situation," he says, and you glance at Bakugou before you attempt to shake your head.
"I'm glad we were in the right place at the right time, and that no one was seriously hurt," you say, and Bakugou nods like he agrees, staying silent. He turns to the black-haired hero after giving you a short bow.
"Apparently, the villain was hired," he tells him lowly, but you hear it almost clear as day.
"He was hired?" you question, your voice rising, and everyone looks at you with raised eyebrows. "By who? Do you know who?"
"We don't. He wouldn't say," Edgeshot admits.
"Do you have something you need to tell us?" Aizawa presses, and you sigh as you shake your head.
"No...no," you finalize. "Can I go home now?" You change the subject, doing away with your concern quickly.
"The doctors recommend that you stay here for the night. Your body is incredibly fatigued." Yeah, no shit. You can't even move. You scoff, closing your eyes again as you turn your head to face the ceiling.
"Can I at least call my sister? I know she's worried sick," you ask.
"We already did, but she can't visit right now due to the number of people wanting to talk to the two of you," Aizawa informs you, and you frown as you groan.
The last fucking thing you need is to be on fucking TV. They take your groan as annoyance even though it's far from that, and they eventually walk out of the room, leaving you with Bakugou. "You still haven't answered my question."
"What question, Bakugou?" you sigh, and you see that he's now sitting next to your bed in one of the guest chairs.
"Why weren't you working?" He asks you the same question he asked before the attack, and you shrug, looking down at your hand that's picking at the bedsheets.
"Didn't think there was a point, I guess," you answer honestly. "Thought I was too far behind compared to everyone else."
"Obviously not. Considering what happened today."
You're starting to feel a little bit better, slowly, so you can finally open your eyes a little wider, and you use that to look at Bakugou in the eyes. "What is it about me?" He looks at you like he doesn't know what you're talking about. "Why me? What do you want to know about me?"
He sits back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "I just wanted to know if you have what it takes," he says bluntly. "This isn't for everyone." You scoff distastefully, and you wince even louder as you try to turn on your side. "You shouldn't be moving so much."
"Thank you so much, Doctor," you respond, petty. You take a deep breath when you get comfortable. "Glad to know you're testing me," you start. "You think I don't fucking know how hard this shit is? You don't fucking know me." You're pissed. You thought you had finally, even if for a little bit, avoided the judging. But it was still following you all along. You hear a response about to come from him, but you stop him. "Save it, Bakugou."
You leave it at that, and you close your eyes as your hand grips your pillow. You shake your head internally. For whatever reason, with Bakugou, you thought it might've been different with him. He wouldn't be like everyone else, but you were stupid.
And you don't open your eyes even after you hear his retreating footsteps and the door close.
Tumblr media
You're finally discharged from the hospital a day and a half later with the constant reminder to rest like you already didn't know that was coming. You catch up with your sister, who hugs you tightly without hurting you.
"You know that was fucking stupid," she whispers against your hair. She pulls away, her eyes filled with worry. "He can fucking find you." You clench your jaw as you glance at Bakugou, who diverts his gaze when your eyes meet.
"The villain was hired by someone," you tell her, your voice even lower than hers. "The villain wouldn't say who though.
"It has to be him. y/n, you have to say something," your sister pushes, and you shake your head, looking around again. This isn't the place for this conversation, but at the same time, it's the safest.
"No," you start. "We're not entirely sure if it's him, and we can't go on a hunch. I'll be careful." She doesn't look convinced at all, but you rest your hand on her arm. "If we react now, he'll know. We need to wait for the right time."
Aizawa tells you that you should be getting back to the school, telling Bakugou to go with you. "I'll be okay," you declare when you look back at your sister. "I love you."
She gives you another firm hug, echoing the words in your hair before pulling away, and Aizawa walks with the two of you out of the hospital. There's a car waiting for you both, and you sigh heavily as you get in, your body still a little tender.
"Where are your crutches?" You roll your eyes vigorously at the sound of the gruff voice.
"I don't fucking need crutches. I'm fine," you state, keeping your attention out the window. The tension in the car is thick, and you hate it. It makes the car ride feel like an hour when it should be a fifteen-minute car ride tops.
You get out of the car fast once you arrive at the dorms, barely waiting for it to be put in park. You try to walk ahead of Bakugou, but you can't move that fast yet, so he catches up to you easily. "Hey, take it easy--"
"Bakugou." You turn, your name stern on your lips, and he freezes. "Don't. I can handle myself."
"I never said that you couldn't," he bites back. "Clearly the other day showed that, but that doesn't fucking mean you have to neglect your health."
You sigh in frustration as you shake your head. He's fucking confusing you. One minute he's trying to know more about you, the other he's "testing" you. You don't respond, turning around to walk into the dorms.
To your surprise, your whole class is in the common area, and you groan internally. So much for just sneaking off to your room without anyone knowing. You're crowded as soon as you get inside, and your eyes widen as you're bombarded with the attention.
"I'm glad you're okay." It's Todoroki that speaks first, and you give him a small smile.
"Thanks," you say softly. "Thanks for coming in and helping."
"We all saw what happened on TV, you were amazing!" Uraraka admires, and you're at a loss for words. You barely managed to make it out of the group, a cake now in your hands from Sato, and Momo suggesting that you both talk because your quirks seem almost similar.
Bakugou can't help but notice the expression on your face looks--weird, for a lack of a better word. You definitely look overwhelmed, but there's something else there that he can't figure out. But it's the first time he's seen such a happy smile on your face. It isn't big, but it's different from the ones you've given him. It's sincere, and not full of confidence. Everyone lets you go when Kirishima tells them that you probably have to go rest.
You give everyone a small wave and a thank you before walking to your room and you realize Bakugou is still walking with you. "You don't have to walk me to my room."
"Who says I'm doing that?" he huffs, and you snort softly at his answer. You walk in silence down the hallway, and Bakugou finally decides to ask about what happened the other day. "Hey, about what I said--"
You've stopped at your door, and your back is towards it, but he stops when his eyes land on your door. You frown, turning around, and he watches your shoulders slump slightly as you sigh. Your door is "decorated" with all kinds of names. Of course, none of them are nice, and some of them you haven't heard before.
You hum softly, a fake smile on your face. "Haven't heard that one before," you joke, pointing at it.
"Do you know who did this?" You look at Bakugou, and you feel like he's a step away from steam coming out of his ears.
"I have a feeling I know who," you answer simply with a shrug. "They must've done this right before I got here." You look at it again, and you cut Bakugou off without knowing it when you speak again. "I've always wanted to add something to my door anyway."
He doesn't understand why you're so okay with this. He thinks back to when he first talked to you in the cafeteria, those people laughing. You were so unphased by it, and it makes him wonder how long this has been going on, how long they have been messing with you. "Thanks for walking me."
You give him a tight smile before opening the door and closing it behind you when you walk in.
~
You mostly sleep for the rest of the day, barely putting a dent in the cake Sato gave you. It wasn't bad, you just weren't really feeling eating. Not when the anxiety was eating away at you. You knew it was a risk to transfer to such a well-known school, but you hadn't been on TV at all since you transferred. So, how would he know that you're here?"
You're sitting on the balcony when you hear a knock on your door. You open it to see Bakugou on the other side with a tray. "I brought dinner."
You shake your head. "I'm good, thanks though." He huffs, pushing past you and setting the tray on your desk. "Rude."
"You need to fucking eat. And not just cake." You glance over at it before resting a hand on your hip.
"Fine, now if that's all you wanted to do, you can--"
"Why are you doing this?" You cut yourself off when you see how close he's gotten to you. "Why are you pushing me away?"
"What is that even supposed to mean?" You don't want to have this conversation, feeling your head starting to hurt.
"Can you at least let me explain myself?" You look at him for a moment, and he doesn't look away from you, and you sigh before grabbing your tray and walking out to the balcony.
You turn to see that he's just looking at you, and you raise your eyebrows. "Well?" You shrug at the same time you gesture your head towards the floor of the balcony. You sit down, and he walks to you, sitting next to you. You start eating, waiting for him to start talking.
"What I said at the hospital came out wrong," he starts. "I didn't mean to make it sound like I was judging you." You swallow heavily, looking out through the railing. "Is it bad to say that I just wanted to know your motivation?" he tries, and you frown at him. "Everyone here has said why they want to become a hero, but you haven't. You've just stayed to the side."
You don't say anything, you just look at Bakugou, and he's about to give up on expecting an answer. "My dad." His face shifts in acknowledgment, and you let your back rest against the railing. "He's quirkless, but my mom's not." You stop before you continue, nudging your food with your chopsticks. "And my dad hates me for having a quirk."
Bakugou's eyes widen softly as he frowns, but you keep talking before he can open his mouth. "I was close with my dad, but once my quirk manifested, I could tell he didn't like me. My mom said that he was always a little upset that everyone had a quirk but him in high school, but she said he got over it.
"He didn't really care for my sister when he got hers, but when I got mine, he snapped." Bakugou has a million things running through his head, but you don't stop. "He tried to hit me one day, and that was the last straw for my mom. I've never seen a couple divorce so fast in my life." You finish with an empty laugh, and you set the tray aside before turning around.
He watches you pull the back of your shirt up from the top, and his mouth falls open when he sees your back littered with scars. "A couple of years after that, he kidnapped me and experimented on me," you explain, looking over your shoulder. "I was in the hospital, in a coma for about a month after they found me, and my dad had been put in jail."
You let your shirt down, turning back around. "But he barely served a sentence, so when he was on his way out, my mom went into hiding, and I moved here with my sister." You let your head fall back, looking up at the myriad of colors in the sky due to the sun setting. "I haven't talked to my mom in about a year. It's too dangerous."
"Is your dad the "he" you were talking about with your sister?"
You nod slowly. "My dad wants me dead. And he won't stop until I am."
"Why did you tell me all that?" He feels stupid for asking because technically he did ask, but that wasn't what he was expecting.
"Guess I felt like I could trust you. And that you wouldn't tell anyone else. Sorry for the dumping." You cringe after, looking away. "But I want to become a hero to prove him wrong. To prove to him that he can't get to me."
Bakugou leans back against the wall as he puts everything together. "That's why you were worried about the villain being hired," he says, and you respond with a nod. "You need to tell someone."
"No," you say, shaking your head and starting the same spiel that you told your sister. "If he knows I'm here, it's better to not make it obvious that I know that he's here."
"They can get you protection. You don't have to be worried about--"
"I'm just gonna wait it out," you interrupt. "I'll react when I feel like the time is right. And it's not like it'll be easy to find him. It's better to let him come to me."
You hear Bakugou sigh disapprovingly, but you signal the end of the conversation by standing up. You rest your arms over the railing, seeing in your peripheral that Bakugou's standing next to you. "So, now that you know the reason, you gonna leave me alone?"
No one knows about your past. You've never made any good enough friends to tell, but you wouldn't consider Bakugou a friend. You just started talking to him a couple of days ago. But you just dropped a huge bomb on him, so you don't really expect him to be sticking around.
"Why would I?" You turn your head to see that he's looking right at you. "You're in a fucked-up situation, and I'd be the biggest piece of shit if I didn't help you."
You have to look away from his intense gaze because you might cry. You're overwhelmed with his attention, with everyone else's. You've never had this before, and it's a weird feeling. "You don't have to help me. I've been dealing with this by myself for this long, I can do it a little longer."
He grabs your arm, turning you to face him, and he pulls you closer to him. "But you're here now. And you don't have to be alone anymore. I can help you." You look away from him, still having trouble holding his eyes.
"There's an area not too far from here that has a bunch of junk, and that's where I practice sometimes to get my stamina up." You change the subject, and you point in the direction that it's in, Bakugou looking that way. You don't say anything after that, and that's when you notice that his hands are still on your arms. He looks down at you to see that you're looking at his hands, and he quickly lets go of you.
"Sorry."
You shake your head quickly. "No, no it's okay." You're both looking at each other, and you clear your throat after a few seconds of silence. "You probably have to get back to your room, right? I heard you go to bed really early." You smile, poking at his stomach playfully, and you watch a half-smirk appear on his face.
You're about to pull your hand away, but he grabs it, his face serious but sincere. "Nothing's going to happen to you," he declares. "I promise."
Tumblr media
You're trapped. You don't know where, the room is pitch black, but you know your arms are bound by something to something. You can't see anything outside of your body, and your breathing is heavy in your ears as you look around. You pull at your restraints as hard as you can, but nothing happens, and you can't even use your quirk because there's absolutely nothing for you to change.
You start to hear voices, but they're scattered, echoing across the room, so you can't pinpoint where any of them are coming from. But you do recognize the voices as your family. You pull even harder at your restraints, increasing the possibility of putting your shoulders out of commission, but that doesn't seem like such a bad thing right now.
You hear your name being called, and you quickly turn your head to the voice, seeing that it's your sister. "Mia?" you breathe. "What the fuck is going on?" She doesn't respond, but she's running towards you, but it seems like every step she takes doesn't bring her any closer to you.
You stop your struggling as you watch in confusion, but your eyes go wide when you see your father walking up behind her. You struggle again, screaming at the top of your lungs trying to warn her, but it's like she can't hear you. You scream when he grabs her, pulling her away into the darkness.
Your body is flailing uncontrollably, trying and failing, again and again, to break free. "Stupid piece of shit," you grunt, and you try to bite at whatever's at your wrist, and you wince when your teeth meet metal. You pull back, frowning when your restraints are now visible to you, chains on your wrists and disappearing into the darkness.
You jump when you suddenly feel a hand on your face, nearly collapsing in relief when you see it's your mom, but then you come to a realization. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm getting you out, okay?" You shake your head, having no choice but to watch her attempt to get you out of them.
"No, Mom, it's too dangerous," you argue. "Dad's here, he got Mia." She's not listening to you just like your sister, repeating the same statement. And the same scenario happens again when he comes into view, dragging your mom into the darkness as well.
Tears cover your face as you become hysterical, wondering where you are, what the fuck is going on. A hand clamps down over your mouth.
And that's when you wake up.
You sit up quickly, gasping for air, and you struggle to breathe, trying to figure out where you are at the same time you try not to hyperventilate. You realize you're back in your room, your balcony door locked and covered, and you look over your body to see that there's nothing tying you down.
Telling Bakugou about your father must've triggered your subconscious, and you release a shaky breath. You take deep breaths as you wipe your eyes with shaky hands, and you let out a sob, only stopping when you hear something scrapping at your door. Fear runs through your whole body, and you don't know what to do.
You slide out of bed, hearing the scraping stop and continue, and as you approach the door, you hear...water? You frown, carefully placing your hand on the doorknob, preparing to brace yourself for whatever's on the other side. You snatch the door open, your eyes landing on Bakugou with a brush in his hand.
"What are you doing?" You look down to see a bucket of soapy water, and you look in your peripheral first before you turn your head, seeing that the words that were on your door are gone. "Why?" you ask after a while when neither of you says a word.
"Because this," he starts, gesturing softly to the door. "Is a shitty thing to do." You don't say anything, and when he frowns at you, you look away. "Nightmare?"
You look up. "How'd you know?"
"Been there before," he says with a shrug. You nod, but you look off to the side again, and he throws the brush in the bucket, wiping his hands off. He steps towards you, and he feels a range of different emotions as he looks at you. He gets you to look at him with a finger under your chin, and he wants to shake his head in disbelief.
"Is this because of him?" You look tired, even more so than after the villain attack; any life you had in your eyes is gone. Bakugou doesn't even know who he's looking at anymore. He doesn't need you to answer his question because the silence is enough to tell him.
He sighs quietly before he moves carefully, wrapping his arms around you slowly, giving you time to move or protest if you want to. When you don't, he pulls you into him, and you don't react at first, but then he feels your hands on his back, digging into his shirt. Your breathing picks up, his ears pick up soft sobs coming from you, and he rests a hand on the back of your head.
"You won't leave me?" He barely catches the question, but when it reaches his ears, he holds onto you a little tighter.
"I won't."
Tumblr media
It's been a couple of weeks, and neither of you have talked about that night. You sort of feel like there's no reason to, but that doesn't mean your mind tries to figure out the whole meaning of the interaction. Nothing has happened regarding your father, and you and Bakugou haven't told anyone, even though he's suggested a few times that you should.
You're sitting at a table by yourself in the cafeteria, but you can feel the eyes of other students on you. Ever since the villain attack, you've been the majority of the talk. You're surprised that there were a lot fewer awful comments than you expected, but of course, there still had to be that same group.
You don't look up when you hear a tray clap against the table in front of you, but you do look up when you hear it more than once. You're now in between Momo and Uraraka, and Bakugou's between Todoroki and Kirishima. "What's with the face?" Momo asks lightly, and you huff, a smile on your face to mask the surprise that was covering it.
"Oh, nothing. Was your table taken or something?"
"No, why do you ask?" Momo tilts her head in confusion, and you shake your head as you wave her off. You hear laughing again, and you barely look past Ochaco, seeing the same groups of kids with their eyes your way.
You turn back to see Bakugou looking at them before he meets your eyes. You shake your head as little as possible but hopefully enough for him to see it, the conversation of your classmates dancing around the both of you. "Bakugou!" you say softly, covering your mouth as you watch him shoot out of his seat, walking over to the table.
"What's he doing?" Kirishima's the one that asks, everyone looking at him as you look down at your food.
"Beats me." You look over, and you can't hear what he's saying, but you do see all of the smiles on their faces fall.
"You and Bakugou seem to get along really well." You snap your head towards Todoroki, his words surprising you.
"What makes you say that?" You ignore the sound of a slap coming from the table.
"Well, he was really worried about you after you passed out," Shouto answers, and you shrug.
"Anyone would be worried though, right?" you try.
"The only reason why he was in your room when you woke up was because he almost blasted the waiting room of the hospital."
You start laughing because you think he's overexaggerating, but you quickly stop when no one else does. "Really?" you ask, looking around, and they all nod. You don't say anything because you really don't know what to say, but Momo speaks up.
"Do you need to eat certain things to use your quirk?" she asks, and you shake your head with a shrug.
"Not really. I just need to make sure I eat enough and sleep enough in order for me to use my quirk as best as I can," you explain. "If I don't do either of those things and then I push myself too hard, the consequences are higher."
"So, is that what happened a couple of days ago?" It's Kirishima who asks, and you shake your head again.
"No, I just tried to make something really big." You chuckle softly before you continue. "I'm not good at controlling how big I want to make something in pressure situations, so that's something I need to work on."
The conversation goes from one subject to another about your quirk, and you feel kind of weird answering so many questions about your quirk, no one ever really been interested enough to ask. You take a moment to glance at Bakugou who's still over at the table, and the kids sitting there look terrified, and just as you're about to stand to go get him, he starts to walk back towards your table.
You breathe a sigh of relief, able to relax in your seat a little more as you jump back into the conversation without missing a beat. Bakugou sits back down, not saying a word and rattling off some random excuse when everyone asks him what he was doing. He looks at you, but you don't hold his eyes for long, turning to listen to what Uraraka's now talking about.
~
Bakugou knows you push yourself harder than you need to when everyone's training, proving himself even more correct when he has to help you back to the dorms after it's over. You grabbed some food, but then you went to your room, All Might noticing that you looked more tired than he thought you should be.
Bakugou noticed that you didn't eat dinner with everyone else, and he figured you were asleep, so he went to go wake you because you definitely needed more food than what you got at lunch. He knocks a few times, and he finds himself waiting, but you never come to the door. He assumes that you're sleeping really hard, but something feels off to him.
You didn't feel like you accomplished anything in training today, so you went to the area where you've been training on your own to get more reps. You feel better after you slept, and now that there's no one here to stop you, you can push yourself to that extra mile that they won't let you get to.
You feel surprisingly good even though you've been at it for a couple of hours, and you feel satisfaction run through you at the thought that your stamina is picking up. Your main focus today was to fix what you did wrong during the villain attack which was making the box too big.
You focus on making the box the right size, and then when you finally get that right without any screw-ups, you become even more eager and attempt to come up with different ways to apprehend villains in different situations.
The sun's starting to go down, and you're sweating a ridiculous amount, but you're not done yet. You start thinking about your mom, and what you would be able to show her when you finally see her again. You remember that she loves to plant, and you look around seeing that you have enough to make what you want to. You vividly imagine the greenhouse in your mind: how big it is, what it exactly looks like, the shape.
The imagery in your head is really what fuels your quirk the most. If there's no image, whatever you try to change won't really change into anything. You open your eyes, seeing the structure starting to come together, but in the middle of it, you feel pain starting to circulate through your whole body.
You wince, the materials shaking as they form, but you shake the pain off, continuing, but the longer you keep going, the more you're hurting. The pain is starting to make your head foggy, which means that the image in your head isn't clear anymore.
Your eyes start to become heavy, and you blink, trying to clear your vision but it's slow. One blink you see the parts you were changing fall, another blink and now you're looking at the sky, the impact of your body on the ground making you groan in pain.
"Shit," you rasp, your body way past fatigued, you can barely move. You take a lot longer to blink this time, your eyes staying closed for a period of time, and when you open them, you're not only looking at blurred images of the sky.
It's a figure, and it takes forever to clear out, but when it does, you feel your heart drop. You can't move, you don't even have enough energy to scream. There's no way he's looking down at you. It can't be him.
Your eyes start to shut against your will, and you start to panic, afraid that this'll be the last image you see. They fall closed, and you will every last fiber of energy to open them, but when you do he's gone. You can't look around, and at this point, you're not even sure if it was real or a hallucination.
You can feel that you're really starting to panic, your breathing picking up as tears prick at your eyes, and the next time you open them, there's a different figure above you on the opposite side. You can tell it's Bakugou, and you try to tell him, but you can't speak.
"y/n, you need to breathe." That's what it takes for you to realize that you're not doing that at all, and you try to take shallow breaths, but you're still in that frenzied state. "Look at me, focus on me." You can feel his hand in yours, and you open your eyes as you take a deep breath in.
He squeezes your hand softly when you take another one, and another one until you can register that you're breathing okay. "He was here." It's the first thing you say when you catch your breath, and Bakugou freezes. "He didn't say anything, I can't even be sure if he was actually here."
You realize that Bakugou's sitting on the ground, holding you, and you hear your name being called by a different voice. "We should probably take you to the hospital." It's Aizawa, and with as much strength as you can muster, you shake your head.
"No, I don't need it." You hear him start with something about you needed fluids, but you cut him off. "Please," you start. "I'll do anything, just no more hospitals."
Aizawa doesn't say anything, studying the both of you before he sighs. "Alright," he eventually says. "But you'll be stuck in your room for a few days." You would so much rather have that than go back to the hospital. And it's not like what they would give you there, they couldn't give you while in you're in your bed.
Bakugou helps you up, and even though your feet are on the ground, he's doing most of the walking for you. "Who were you talking about?"
You glance at Bakugou, who's looking at you already. "You need to tell him. Whether he was here or not," he argues. You hesitate, but you eventually give in.
You don't give Aizawa all of the details you gave Bakugou, but it's enough to have him stop walking and turn around to look at you. "I'm not sure if it was actually him, but--"
"It doesn't matter. This isn't something we should take lightly considering the circumstances." If you could slump even more, you would, and Bakugou hoists you up a little more.
"Can we talk about this inside?" he urges, and he guides you into the dorms, and you're thankful that no one's waiting for you. Bakugou must've not made such a scene this time.
You make it to your room, and Aizawa talks to you more about your father, but you don't know much, not having contact with him since he took you. He agrees not to crowd you with security, doing so will only make the situation worse you believe, and Bakugou's on board with it too.
The conversation doesn't last long, Aizawa wanting you to get rest, but you're on the way to sleep anyway once you lay down on your bed, and right before you go to sleep, you hear voices but they start to blur, and hearing your door close is the last thing before sleep finally takes over.

You could say that Bakugou had a hunch when you still hadn't come down to eat dinner when he knows you should've been. But he didn't expect to find you nearly unconscious on the ground. He's more than grateful that you told him about the place or else he probably would've turned the whole city upside down trying to look for you.
He decides to stay in your room, sitting at your desk to make sure that you're okay while you sleep. He can't imagine what nightmares you have, and he doesn't want to be anywhere else if you do have one. When you opened the door that night, he knew exactly what had woken you up, but he didn't ask what the nightmare consisted of. But after seeing how quick you were to panic when you saw your dad, he has a pretty good idea of what it is.
He finds himself dozing off every now and then, the falling of his head either forward or backward quickly jolting him awake. You've been asleep ever since you got back to the dorms, and it's been about eight hours. He decides to try and get some fresh air, hoping it might help him stay awake when it happens.
You sit up straight in your bed, nearly screaming at the pain due to how fast you're moving, and you're breathing erratically. Bakugou's quick to move, sitting down on the bed and sliding you into him, talking to you the entire time to let you know that it's him and that you're safe and in your room.
He carefully moves you on top of him, allowing him to ground you easier when he wraps his arms around you. You finally calm down, his hand running down your back a signal of when to take a deep breath out. He feels your fists grab at the back of his shirt, and he thinks you might tear it as you sob, and he holds you the entire time.
He feels anger, pain, too many things at your actions because of your father. When your sobs start to cease, he feels your fingers release his shirt, but he doesn't let go of you, and you don't let go of him, keeping your arms around him. "You're okay," he whispers. "I'll be here when you wake up, okay?"
You sigh heavily and after a few minutes, he feels your breathing even out, your arms fall slightly, and your body slumps even further against him, telling him that you're asleep. He slowly moves towards the headboard, resting his back against it without disturbing you. He stays awake for as long as he can, listening for an uptick in your heartbeat or a panicked breath until he eventually falls asleep himself.
~
When you wake up, the sun is pouring into the room, and the pillow you're laying on is moving. It doesn't take you long to remember that it's Bakugou, and you vividly remember what happened last night. That was probably the worst nightmare you've had, and you don't know what you would've done if he wasn't here.
You move slowly, lifting your head up to see him snoring softly. You look at his face for a while, finding it hard for you to tear yourself away from him. You've seen him this close, but you never had a chance to study him because his gaze was always so strong; you couldn't help but look away.
He still has that scowl on his face, but it's much softer, more like a small frown instead. You swallow thickly when you realize what you're doing and how you're feeling, and you look down, seeing his hand resting on the bed near the both of you.
You do remember that he held your hand when he found you yesterday, and before you can think twice about it, you reach down, lacing your fingers with his. His hands are so much rougher than yours, which you know is expected, but it's so significant that you're pretty sure you could recognize his hands with your eyes closed.
When his fingers twitch, you get ready to snatch your hand away, but he catches it softly, giving your hand a soft squeeze. You lift your head up, resting it further back on his shoulder, meeting his red eyes. "How're you feeling?" His voice is low and deep, and you give him a small shrug.
"I'm still feeling bleh," you admit. "But I slept better after." You don't add anything, both of you knowing what you mean and he nods.
"Are you more tired or hungry?" he asks next, and you nod as enthusiastically as you can when you answer.
"Definitely more hungry." He smiles when you do, and then he's staring at you again, and you feel your face warm as you look away. "Sorry for dragging you through all of this," you say after a short while.
"Stop apologizing for shit." You look at him again, and he looks serious and sincere at the same time. "None of this is your fault, and I'm not taking pity on you," he states. "We can help you. I can help you. You don't have to do this alone anymore."
"I'm just not used to it." You take a deep breath when you feel tears threatening to pool at your lash line. "It's been me and my sister since the incident. And it's just been me at school. I don't know how to respond to it."
That explains why you always looked so surprised whenever everyone was around you. You weren't used to having this many people near you. Having this many people that weren't judging you.
"It's weird having someone else know about what's going on in my life," you continue. "I'm just waiting for the moment where I wake up and none of it ever happened. As far as you can tell, I don't really get happy endings."
"And that's gonna change." He lets go of your hand to rest his hand on your cheek. "You're going to get through this, and you're going to become an amazing hero. Right after me, of course." You laugh softly as you roll your eyes, a grin on his face before you rest your head back on his chest.
"Thank you, Katsuki."
He pulls you closer to him. "Any time."

Because of how much you pushed yourself, you actually had to stay in your room for longer than you had to at the hospital. You don't really care that much, you're just glad you're not spending those days there. You can't do much moving, getting out of the bed proves to be a huge chore, but Bakugou offers to bring you food so you don't have to do a lot of walking.
You try to argue and deny, but there's not really much you could back up on because you can barely get out of bed without nearly crying in pain. You will admit that sometimes you are bored out of your mind; there's only so much homework you can get done early.
You're trying to think of ways to pass the time when something slides under your door. You frown as it catches your eye, and you look over at it. You can't reach it, but you're feeling a tiny bit better, so you bear the pain so that you can get to it. When you pick it up, you see that it's a card, but it's blank.
You turn it all ways, seeing that there's nothing written on the card at all, and your frown deepens when you look towards the door. You slowly make your way towards it, and when you open it, you almost jump in surprise.
"You guys weren't supposed to make her get out of bed." You recognize it as Mina's voice, seeing Uraraka and Momo standing outside of your room.
"What are you guys doing here?" you ask, adjusting your grip on your door because it's still a bit difficult to stand on your own, and you hear crinkling when you do. You look to see that your door has been decorated, gold replacing the white of your door with the words "get well soon" covering it.
Your mouth falls open in surprise, letting your hand run over some of the letters. "How are you feeling?" You turn to Uraraka, who's got flowers in her hands. "Sorry, we made you get out of bed."
You shake your head slowly, your brain still trying to wrap around what's going on. "Oh, it's okay. I'm feeling a lot better," you answer as she hands you the flowers. "You guys didn't have to do this."
"Well, we wanted to. We were all really worried," Mina says, and you cringe softly.
"Sorry about that."
"Don't worry about it. All that matters is that you're okay now." Uraraka and Momo nod in agreement with Mina's words, which makes you smile. "And try to not give Bakugou a heart attack next time," she adds, and you frown.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't think I've ever seen him so frantic," Uraraka comments. "The moment he found out you weren't here, he didn't even wait for Mr. Aizawa. He just went to where you were."
"Oh," you say softly, not knowing how to respond. "I'll make sure it doesn't happen again," you reply lightly, and then Bakugou's walking up behind them.
"What're you doing outta bed?" he asks instantly, and Mina steps to the side to let him through, but he just stands in front of you.
"They just wanted to tell me to get well soon," you tell him, lifting the flowers slightly to show him, and you can see them giggling behind him. "I'm fine. I just walked from my bed." You pull him next to you so that he isn't blocking your classmates.
"We just wanted to do something since she's stuck in her room all day," Mina argues. "But I guess with Bakugou staying with you, you're doing just fine."
You feel your face warm at the tone of her voice, insinuating something that you and he haven't really acknowledged, and you awkwardly glance at him. "He's not really...staying," you try, "he's just...um..."
"We should probably let you rest, y/n." You sigh in relief when Momo changes the subject, and Uraraka nods as she starts to push Mina away. "If you need anything, just let us know."
"Thanks, you guys." They all give you a wave before walking down the hallway. You move into the room first, Bakugou following after you, and you're glad that he's not hovering over you. He's still worried about you moving on your own, but he doesn't make you use him as a crutch.
"Please don't tell me you went somewhere to get me food," you say when he tells you that he brought you food, which is why he was here. You set the flowers down on your desk before sitting down on your bed next to him.
"I made it." He mumbles his words, not looking your way, and you almost don't catch it, but you take the container when he hands it to you.
"You made this?" you repeat slowly, and he just nods as he hands you a fork. You notice that his face is slightly tinted pink, and you decide to spare him the teasing, digging into your food. He seems to redden even more when you compliment him on the food, eating your fair share pretty quickly.
"How are you feeling today?"
"Better than yesterday," you answer with a nod. "There's still some pain but I've been taking meds for it." He nods and silence falls over the both of you, finishing your food a while ago, and now both of you are sitting next to each other on your bed.
There's so much you want to ask, but you don't really know how. You haven't known Bakugou for long, but it feels like you've known him longer than you have. It all just feels so nice, so you don't want to ruin it by trying to talk about what's going on between you two, so you just decide to let it be.
You notice that he's rubbing his arm, but when you start to think about it, you've realized that he'd been doing it since he's been here. "What'd you do to your arm?" you ask, nudging him slightly with your shoulder.
"'S, nothin'," he mumbles, and you rub your fingers over his arm, figuring it out pretty quickly.
"It's because of me, right?" He looks up from where you're touching him, meeting your eyes. "When you ran off to find me?" He didn't want to tell you because he knew you would feel bad. "I won't do it again," you add. "It was a stupid thing to do."
"No," he starts, grabbing your hand gently when you look down. "Don't start blaming yourself. Your dad's actions are not your fault. This," he says, gesturing to his arm. "Is not your fault. I chose to go and find you."
You sigh before resting your head on his shoulder, looking at his hand on top of yours. "I want you to stop blaming yourself. I know it's not easy, but you won't ever have to apologize to me."
"People have gotten hurt because of me. I don't want you to be a part of that," you admit, and he intertwines his fingers with yours.
"No one got hurt because of you." He lifts your head up to look at him, and for once, you can hold his gaze. "Everything that has happened in your life is not your fault. And I'm going to keep telling you that because it's true." You hadn't even realized that tears have slipped from your eyes, only noticing when Bakugou wipes them away with his thumb. "Okay?"
You nod and he twists his body towards you, your arms wrapping around him before he can finish moving. He does the same, pulling you closer to him, and for the first time, there's a tiny part of you that actually believes those words.
Tumblr media
It's been almost two weeks since you saw your dad, and you still don't feel safe enough to go anywhere outside of the school. Most of the teachers know about your situation, and Bakugou is the only classmate that knows. There's a part of you that wants to tell some of them, but you know it'll do more harm than good.
You've been using the excuse that you're still recovering, but that will run out sooner rather than later. Aizawa's been keeping you updated, but no one's been able to locate your dad, but that doesn't make you feel any better. You weren't sure if you saw him or not when you were training by yourself. If they can't find him, that means he wasn't here in the first place, or he knows he's being followed or looked for.
It nearly sends you into a panic all over again, but Bakugou's still by your side, which makes you a little bit more confident that you might be able to overcome this.
"You don't have to stay." You're feeling better now, physically at least, but the new information about your dad has you unsettled again. "Pretty sure you'd like to sleep in your own bed now."
"Do you want me to stay?"
"If you don't want to stay, I'm not gonna force you," you respond with a shrug.
"That's not what I asked you." His voice is quiet, with no heat behind it, but you can't help but feel guilty at what your answer is. "It doesn't matter where I sleep. All that matters is that you're okay."
You don't answer right away, your hands digging into your blanket, and Bakugou doesn't need to say it out loud to know what you want. He lays back down, getting comfortable before he pulls you down on top of him. "You can leave after I fall asleep," you whisper, feeling safe with him here, and he gives you a small grunt, not really responding with an answer. You can feel sleep looming over you as you listen to his heartbeat and his hand rubs up and down your back.
"I'll be here when you wake up." It's the last thing you hear as your eyes slip closed.
~
You're going in and out of sleep, and you don't know how much time has passed since you dozed off. One minute you're a second away from falling asleep, the next you're becoming aware of your surroundings again. You sigh softly before you decide to sit up, but Bakugou's arm tightens around you before you can barely lift yourself off of him.
"Why are you still awake?"
"Why are you still awake?" you parrot back, lifting yourself up on your elbow when he finally lets you go. His voice sounds like he wasn't sleeping at all, and you confirm it when you see that his eyes don't have an ounce of sleep in them. "I just keep going in and out and I don't know why."
"Is it because of him?" he asks you softly and you shrug in response.
"I don't know. It might be," you reply, and it looks like you're going to say something, but then you close your mouth. Bakugou's arm tightens around you for a second as he frowns.
"What?"
You let yourself lay back down on him, looking around your room before you speak. "I'm afraid of dying." You can feel his breath hitch at your statement, but you keep going. "But there's this part of me that's sort of okay if my dad does manage to catch me. But that doesn't make me any less scared."
You lift your head up to see a look on Bakugou's face that you've never seen before like he doesn't know what to say. "I shouldn't have said that," you say after a pregnant pause. "I don't know why I told you that."
You sit up when he doesn't hold you down, and you run your hands over your face. "There's just this feeling that my dad will win in the end, and..." You release a shaky breath, shaking your head slowly. "It terrifies the shit out of me."
You hear him sit up, but you don't turn around, and you hadn't even realized that your hands were shaking until he grabs them in his. "Relax, you're gonna make yourself panic." His voice is soft, and he makes you turn to him before he helps you move your leg over him. "I know I can't make you feel any much better with an empty promise," he begins. "But I won't let anything happen to you. Nothing is going to happen to you.
"And I want you to stop thinking that you're making my life more difficult when I'm here with you." You chew on your lip softly as you listen, and he's wiping the tears that fall. "I've had the nightmares, but I didn't have anyone there to help me with it. I'm not going to let you go through this alone."
You don't know what to say. You've never had this before. This support. It feels so weird, so foreign, but it feels so nice. Like you can finally breathe again. You have support from your sister, but this feels different. It feels nice to have someone outside of your family that knows about your situation after having it under wraps for so long.
"Alright?" His question jumps you out of your head. "So, no tears, okay?" The words are light, and there's a small smile on his face, and you let out a watery laugh as you both wipe your tears away. "Your dad isn't going to win, and you're going to see your mom."
How in the hell are you supposed to control your tears when he's talking to you like this? Your lower lip wobbles as you try not to cry even more, and you rest your hands on his face. You take a quiet breath before you start to lean in, and when he doesn't pull away, you let your lips land on his.
You melt against him when his lips mold against yours as his hands come up to rest on your back. His hand moves to the back of your neck when you pull away but dive back in once more, your fingers brushing over his undercut. You both pull away, breathing heavier than before. "What was that for?"
Just in case...
You huff softly, feeling your face become hot. You can't believe you did that in the heat of the moment, but the way he's smiling at you doesn't worry you that much. "Just cause," you say with a shrug. "Was it okay?" He nods, moving in again, and your smile widens. "Can I do it again?"
He's already pushing your head towards his gently before you can even get the question out, and his nod is quick before he presses his lips to yours, and you drape your arms over his shoulders as you both get to know each other in a different way.
The kiss stays mild, but there's so much unspoken emotion you're telling each other that it almost scares you, and even though you feel like you're floating on cloud nine, you know Bakugou will always be there to catch you. You laugh softly, causing him to pull away, but he's smiling just as big giving you one last peck. "Just cause, huh?"
Just in case I don't get the chance to do it again.

The status of your relationship with Bakugou is still pretty unknown to your classmates, hell even yourselves, but everyone pretty much knows about the two of you by now. You weren't stuck in your room anymore, you had fully recovered a while ago, but the fear of your father was still looming over you.
It was mostly Mina that was making playful jabs at you, only stopping when Uraraka told her to. You don't really mind it, even though you can feel your face warm every time you think she's talking too loud. You were given the choice to start interning with heroes if you wanted to, and you were a little hesitant at first, more worried than anything, but you thought to yourself that you won't get anywhere if you keep letting him stop you.
You had been training ever since you could move without experiencing any pain, bettering your quirk and making adjustments to your hero suit. Bakugou was there with you the entire time, helping you along with making sure you weren't pushing yourself too hard.
"I'm actually kinda scared," you admit, huffing to yourself as you look at the sky. You and Bakugou are sitting on your balcony, tomorrow being the first day of your internship.
"Why is that?" Your hand is in his, his thumb rubbing over the back of your hand.
"I'm just worried that I'll mess up, or I'll do the wrong thing, or I won't be able to save someone in time." You let your head rest back against the door, and you feel him slip his fingers between yours.
"All that's bullshit." You let your head fall to the side as you give him a look. "Because when that villain attacked that day, you didn't manage to do any of that. And you had never been in a situation like that before.
"Just don't think about it," he continues. "You know what you're doing, and you're good at quickly assessing the situation at hand. You'll be fine."
"Who knew that Bakugou Katsuki gave so many compliments." You nudge his shoulder at your teasing, and he rolls his eyes, but then he's looking at you making you tilt your head in curiosity. "What?"
He's glad that you've let him in, and he prays that you don't think he's doing it just because it's the right thing to do. He can tell you're still a bit scared to go outside, but you're not the same girl he met when he first talked to you in the Lunch Rush cafeteria.
"Don't get used to it," he responds lightly, and he smiles when you laugh. He's pretty sure you've never had any reassurance in your life other than the fact that your dad is going to find you. He thinks--no, he knows-- it's not fair that you haven't been given the chance to try and go down this path because of something out of your control that shouldn't even be a factor in the first place.
And he wants to see you succeed.
~
You were actually asked my Edgeshot if you would like to intern with him, and you were next level starstruck, but accepted. You weren't too worried that you wouldn't be with Bakugou because you were feeling more confident as time when on. You notified him of your situation, not as many details, but Aizawa insisted that you should, that everyone should be on high alert.
You didn't really do any patrolling the first couple of days, staying in the agency mostly, thinking it would be the safest bet for now. You might not be that scared or worried about your father anymore, but that doesn't mean you can get careless.
"We were able to get more information from the villain that you stopped. He said he was hired by a doctor, but he didn't give him his name." You feel your heart do a million different things at the information coming from the pro-hero. "Does that sound like him?"
You sigh heavily as you nod. "Yeah, it does. But he doesn't work in the hospital." You feel sickness pooling in your stomach at the fact that your suspicions at the beginning were right. "Thank you for telling me," you say after a quick pause. "If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if you kept me in the loop."
"Of course," he accepts as he nods. "What do you want to do?"
"Nothing for now. He becomes more cunning when he has more attention on him," you explain. "We just need to keep gathering information."
It unsettles you to no end, and at this point, you don't know what to think. You suppose all good things come to an end, but that phrase really hits home when the building starts to shake. You brace yourself on the desk next to you as stuff starts falling off shelves and desks, and you look around in panic.
It can't be an earthquake, but the possibility isn't too far off. You look out the window, seeing dust accumulating at the bottom of the building along with people in a panic running all different directions. All of you are quick to make it outside, and you finally see what's causing the shaking.
The building's foundation is slowly crumbling, and you notice that Edgeshot's agency isn't the only building that's being affected. All of the foundations of the taller buildings are crumbling, and the people in the buildings aren't going to get out before it collapses.
You move towards the agency first, placing your hands on the deteriorating bricks and making them new again. It was something you had been working on, making the same things but just brand new again, training your brain to think that it was a different block than the one you're fixing.
The building didn't suffer too much damage, so the building doesn't fall when you restore the bricks, but the rest of the buildings are worse. You don't hesitate, moving to the next one to restore the foundation, and you're able to use the broken bricks to build support beams so that they don't fall onto each other.
You realized that you'd never noticed how many skyscrapers were in this area until you're running around trying to fix them all before they fall. Edgeshot and the other heroes are rescuing the civilians in the buildings that you may not get to in time.
But you're starting to think that most of those buildings won't get fixed because you're already starting to get tired, having to run from building to building, and for some, having to make support beams.
But then you hit one building, and it seems like your fatigue hits you like a smack in the face, and you're falling to the ground. "What the fuck?" You know something is wrong because you've never been hit with exhaustion like this before, but you can't let it stop you now.
One of the heroes finds you, and you decide that you need to conserve your energy if you want to stop the buildings from falling because once they do, it'll be devastating. They're able to carry you to the taller buildings, and you barely manage to fight off your fatigue to make support beams, the foundations already too destroyed to restore.
You finally make it to the last one, and you don't know how you've managed to make the last support beams, but you're able to stop all of the buildings from falling and most of the civilians got out unharmed. You're almost laughing in relief as you get put down on the ground, but as soon as your feet land, your feel another rush of fatigue, and you can barely feel yourself fall down.
Why in the hell are you so tired? As much as you trained, you've tested your stamina, and you can certainly make it longer than this. People are starting to surround you, asking questions, but you can't even keep your eyes open, and before you know it, they're finally slipping closed, the world going quiet and dark.
~
The beeping of the monitors is faint to your ears, and you find yourself wondering how in the hell you're back in the hospital again. You try to piece together everything that happened, something you could've missed, but when you finally get the strength to open your eyes, everything falls into place.
"How could you run away from your own father, y/n?" You wish you had the strength to roll your eyes, but the only thing you're capable of is showing emotions in your eyes. "I do realize talking may be hard for you right now, but I designed it so that you wouldn't wake up."
You should've known the rush of fatigue was his doing. His job was to enhance heroes' quirks. You didn't put it past him that he would use it on you. "But you've always been a strong fighter, haven't you?" You thought that maybe you'd feel something when you finally met your father face-to-face after these years, but now, with the position that you're in, you feel nothing. "Although, you made it easier for me, so I thank you for that. The villains did the heavy lifting, but you just set it up perfectly. All because you wanted to be a hero, with utmost determination, but a trash quirk," he spits. "Just like your mother."
You blink slowly, knowing he's expecting a reaction out of you, but you stay calm, hoping your eyes tell him to "make this quick."
"I...don't...understand," you manage, your voice so low you don't even know if he heard you, but there's no emotion behind it. It's just a blank statement.
"And you don't have to, sweetie. Just let it happen."
~
Bakugou knows something is wrong. He's watching the news, seeing the possible villain attack in the same area that you're supposed to be in. And the text that you sent him before is the reason why he's racing towards the hospital once he sees you fall to the ground.
Turns out my suspicions were right. Thank you for everything, Katsuki. I'll never forget it.
He knows the heavy reason for your words, and he thinks back to the conversation he had with you about how you were scared. And he moves even faster, panic swelling in his throat, suffocating him. He bursts through the hospital without stopping by anyone, only to ask where your room is.
When he gets there, he swings the door open, his blood running cold when his eyes land on your father, an empty syringe in his hand. Bakugou doesn't waste any time, grabbing him and pulling him away from you. "What the fuck are you doing?!" he screams, throwing him into the wall. "What did you do?!" He doesn't remember telling his body to move, but he's throwing punches left and right, having multiple nurses pull him off of your father.
He only turns to you when he hears one of the nurses yell out your status, and he's running over to you, grabbing your hand. "I get..." You try to speak, but it's getting harder to breathe, but you have to say it. "To tell you in person."
"You're gonna be okay. You're gonna make it." You don't believe him, and you give him a small smile because you don't have the strength to squeeze his hand.
"Thanks....Katsu." You groan softly, the monitors going crazy, and when Bakugou swallows that lump in his throat, the tears fall. "It's...it's gonna be...okay."
"Baby, please stop talking," he pleads, not wanting you to do anything else because he knows everything you're trying to do is making you even more tired. He hears people telling him to move, but he's glued to your bedside.
"I made..." You glance to the side when you can't get it out, and he looks over to see a flower on the table next to your bed. "It's...your explosion," you laugh to the best of your ability, which is just a weak huff of air. "In...a flower...kinda."
His vision is getting blurry from the tears, and he doesn't know what to do. He feels so defeated, and when your eyes slip closed, he's being pulled out of the room, and he fights.
But as soon as he gets to the door, the monitor flatlines. And the flower in his hand stays.
Tumblr media
"You need to go home, Bakugou." He hears the repeated sentence come from Aizawa, and he doesn't move from the bench as he stares hard at the flower in his hand.
He failed you. He promised that nothing would happen to you, and he broke it. He told you all kinds of lies, and he chokes back a sob, blinking the tears out of his eyes. He has to put the flower down every time his emotions get the best of him because he runs the risk of destroying it with his blasts.
"She's awake."
Bakugou freezes before his head turns to the nurse that uttered those words. She nods, and he stands quickly before bolting into the hospital. He narrowly dodges the people in the hallways, and he nearly breaks the door off of the hinges when he opens it.
"Why are you slamming the door open?" He manages to keep himself from crashing into you when he makes it to you, softly planting his lips on yours, his hands shaking vigorously as he holds your face. "Fuck, you're alive."
You frown curiously at the same time you're smiling. "Did they not tell you?" He shakes his head and you sigh, resting your hand on his face. "One of the doctors my dad was working with turned himself in along with the antidote," you explain. "Woke up as if nothing happened, but there's always the pain."
Bakugou feels like he might cry even more at the relief he's feeling. He doesn't know what to say, letting his forehead fall against yours. You rub your thumb over his cheek, but then you're pulling away, the frown back on your face. "You've been crying?"
"I broke my promise." His voice cracks, but he doesn't care.
"Katsuki, what did you tell me?" Your voice is still soft but firm. "You said my dad's actions were not my fault, and that goes for you." You bring your other hand up to his face. "You didn't break any promises. The only reason why I got this far was because of you. None of this is your fault," you declare. "So, don't blame yourself."
You raise your eyebrows, and he huffs as he rolls his eyes softly, and you brush your hand over his forehead before running your hand through his hair, and then he's meeting your lips again, sighing into the kiss at the fact that you're still here. That he didn't lose you.
"You still have the flower?" He looks down, seeing it laying on the bed in between the two of you.
"Yes?" he responds, and you shake your head as you cringe.
"Please, get rid of it. It was super corny." He frowns before shaking his head.
"I'm not doing that." You bump your forehead against his softly, scrunching up your nose.
"You're so stubborn."
"You're one to talk."
"We couldn't let anyone know that you'd survive for safety reasons." You both jump when you hear your sister's voice, Bakugou moving away from you significantly as your mom and sister walk in. "You wanna introduce your boyfriend first before you make out with him?"
You flip her off before your mom can see, clearing your throat as your face warms. You watch Bakugou stand, moving towards your family, and your eyes widen when he bows. "I'm sorry for letting your daughter get hurt. I swear, it won't happen again."
He stands up straight, and your mom walks towards him before she pulls him into a hug, tears on her face, and it's not too long before Bakugou's returning it. "Thank you for being there for her," she whispers against him, and he tightens his arms around her just a little more.
He gives her a sincere smile when they pull away, looking at you when you speak up. "So, I can leave now, right?" You change the subject, feeling like you might cry again at the scene in front of you. They all roll their eyes, making you laugh. There's a knock on the door, and you gasp softly when you see all of your classmates walking into the room.
All of them were accompanied by streamers and balloons, Denki even having party poppers. You laugh softly in surprise as they all greet you with 'get well soon' cards and balloons, nearly half the room filled with them.
You're stuck in surprise, only being pulled out of it when you feel Bakugou slip his hand into yours. You look at him, the biggest smile on your face that he's ever seen, and he couldn't care less about your friends when he leans down to kiss you once more.

HIHI could i request saebyeok n sangwoo(seperately) w a clingy s/o??
A/N : of course you can!! i just assumed you meant headcanons as they are most of my page rn. if you meant like actual scenarios i will also happily do that too!! :) sangwoo might be a bit OOC. - he is a hard character to nail on the head with his personality.
» at first, sangwoo was nervous to be in a relationship with you : it wasn’t that he didn’t like you, no, he adored you.. but it was the fact that you would get hesitant every time he had to go out and get something, like necessities.
» at first in the relationship he saw you as a bit of a weakness of sorts. if you were incredibly clingy to the point where you followed him around, he was worried people would be aware of your clinginess and sort of use it to their advantage, yk. this increases in the games, too.
» once he got used to it, he appreciated you and how insistent you were on spending time with him. it made him feel appreciated, in a way.
» in the games, he was almost grateful. you stuck around him, not because you didn’t have a choice, but because you had the need to be beside him. this, despite some others thinkings it’s a problem keeps you and him safe because people wouldn’t attack you when you were in a duo
» he kind of got used to it like everyone around, they just sort of adapted to you sitting beside him all the time, or wanting kisses
» with sangwoo, due to his serious and wise personality i feel he wouldn’t show himself being grateful for the PDA that you show around other people because it makes him feel soft.
» if you were looking for angst, if your clinginess was bad, like to the point where you were sticking with him during every game, then a fight would probably stir between you too - not to mention it would be a one sided fight. sangwoo seems like the person to need his thinking space and if you are in that bubble constantly - he might just need to tell you to back off a bit.
» and oh my god. he would feel pretty shit afterwards trust me
—————
» if you only met during the games, sae saw you as a bother. of course, she didn’t really want to say anything, she more put it into questions of confusion as to why you were bothering her. why not stick around someone who would listen, like gi hun??
» she has dealt with her brother before. she knows what it’s like to have someone stick around her, so she would probably be more used to it than sangwoo.
» sae would probably also want to keep a cool and dangerous composure. if anything, she sees it as a strategy to make people not test her in the games.
» she really does love you, even if she tries not to show it around other people - and if you were the type of clingy to show romantic affection, she would probably accept all of your hugs and kisses in private.
