Title: Relaxed

Summary: As they watch a movie, Luz rests her head on Amity’s lap, and Amity strokes Luz’s hair.

Wordcount: 400 words

As Good Witch Azura 2 plays on the TV, Amity sits on the couch, her eyes glued to the screen despite the fact she has watched this movie so many times she could recite huge chunks of the script from memory. Luz sprawls on the couch with her head in Amity’s lap, her eyes half open as she stares blankly at the screen.

Luz is exhausted from going to school and trying to build a portal and not sleeping well, and it seems the fatigue finally caught up with her. So, when Camila offered to take all the kids to the mall, Amity suggested that she and Luz stay home. And Luz didn’t even argue, letting everyone leave them home alone. Watching the movie was Amity’s idea too, because Azura movies always makes Luz smile, and her girlfriend needs cheering up. (She hasn’t seemed herself since even before the Day of Unity, but Luz won’t tell her what’s wrong.) Which is how Amity finds herself with her girlfriend’s head in her lap as they watch their favourite movie.

Amity rests her hand on Luz’s head, feeling the soft curls beneath her fingers. She begins to comb her fingers through Luz’s hair, the repetitive action helping Amity relax. Doing the same thing over and over again has always been soothing for her, whether it’s petting Ghost or casting Abomination magic, manipulating the goo with her hands. When she holds hands with Luz, rubbing her girlfriend’s knuckles with her thumb is relaxing too, just like stroking Luz’s hair. What was the word Luz used to describe both their habit of soothing themselves by doing the same stuff again and again? Stimming? Yes, that’s it. Amity stims a lot, and it’s nice to have a word for it.

Luz sighs as fingers massage her scalp, wriggling to get more comfortable on the couch. Amity wishes she could cover Luz with a blanket, but she thinks Luz won’t want her to stand up right now. Not when she’s finally relaxed after being so stressed and tired for weeks.

As Azura recites a long, flowery monologue at Hecate, Amity mouths along to her words, smiling as she continues to stroke Luz’s hair. Even after Luz falls into desperately needed sleep, snoring softly, Amity keeps running her fingers through her girlfriend’s hair, as relaxed and happy as it’s possible to be when trapped in another realm.
