Huntlow Isn't "Toxic", Here's Why

Let me just say that I’m not a big Huntlow shipper (though I do for a lot of Huntlow blogs for some reason lmao). I don’t dislike the ship or anything, it’s fine and Willow and Hunter make a decent couple, it’s just not as great as something like Lumity for instance. That being said though, I am genuinely baffled by the people going around saying the ship is toxic for having a “bad start”.

Like???? First of all, Hunter thought that the EC was good and he thought that he was doing them a favor by getting them into the EC because he was raised to believe it was good, sure the action itself is bad he clearly didn't realize what he was doing was wrong and first did mean well. Second of all (and most importantly), Hunter realized his mistake and went out of his way to fix it, directly risking his position in the EC to protect his freinds and fix his mistake. That's a pretty selfless thing to do yet people forget that for some reason.

Third, did y'all seriously forget how Lumity started??? Like, Amity was about to get Luz dissected, and she didn't go back to stop it like how Hunter fixed his mistake, and they were rivals for multiple episodes. So really, Lumity had a worse start than Huntlow. For Huntlow, yes Hunter did almost force them into joining a coven, however, he got along with Willow pretty well before that and helped her fyler derby team win, and again, the second he realized what he was doing was wrong, he went out of his away and put himself in danger in order to fix it.

It was still a rocky start, yes, but the ship isn't toxic just because they had a bad start, by that logic Lumity is toxic as well. "But Amity grew as a person and fixed her mistakes!", yes, she did, but uh, Hunter did too, except in a much shorter and faster amount of time. And Hunter wasn't a bad person like Amity was; he's not inherently evil, he's just brainwashed, the show shows that pretty clearly.

And just because a relationship starts out bad doesn't mean it can't get better, that's literally the foundation for enemies to lovers ship; those types of ships have bad starts by defult. Are all enemies to lovers ships toxic because they had a bad start? No. Because the story shows their relationship getting better. TOH did the same thing for Huntlow, it had a rocky start, but since Hunter went and fixed his mistake, the relationship is getting better. And by the end of the series since Hunter is redeemed now and he and Willow are on friendly terms, the relationship is pretty healthy.

There’s also the fact that Willow didn’t fully forgive Hunter after ASIAS, as In Labyrinth Runners, she doesn’t fully trust him until he mentions the breathing, thing, which is the proof she needed.

I just don’t see how anybody could look at Huntlow with a straight face and say it’s toxic, because as someone who had the displeasure of witnessing Stolitz, which is a HEAVILY toxic ship, Huntlow isn’t toxic. Not in the slightest.

huntlow anti’s are just people who have some wack ass crush on him and sexualized him even though he’s a minor.. “o-oh but the timeskip” was like 30 seconds long so it’s obvious you were waiting for an excuse to sexualized him in the first place. plus yall would’ve been doing it even without the timeskip…

Can I Talk About How Much I Love Willow Park for a Moment?

I've talked before about how Hunter and Luz are my favorite characters in toh but she's probably my third favorite and sometimes I literally want to worship the ground her little animated boots walk on. For one, she's Asian-coded and plus-sized, which is rare enough (the only other example I can think of is Glimmer from She-ra, who I also love), but she's actually well-written and complex in the way a lot of diverse characters aren't. She's canonically pansexual, which is a community that gets so little representation its heartbreaking. On top of that, she's in a healthy relationship with someone of the opposite gender, which isn't often seen with bi and pan characters. She's an extremely powerful witch but she struggles with self-esteem issues. She's allowed to be stressed and exceed her limits and break down and have emotions. She's strong and independent without putting other people down. She's kind and compassionate without being a pushover. She's reliable and tough but has limits. She's cute and girly but also a little gremlin. She has an absolutely wonderful character arc and helps save the world. I love her so much I can't even express it.

Do you ever think about how Willow was the last person Hunter saw when he died and the first person he saw when he was resurrected and despite everything she was the only person he was able to momentarily snap out of his anger/depression for
