“nobody understands me” but not in the “edgy suffering from teenager syndrome mad at mom” kind of way, but the “lonely isolating young adult realization that the specific combination of mental illnesses and past experiences i’ve had have resulted in a pattern of behaviors that are often misinterpreted and misconstrued by others” type of way

The party was crammed and sweaty, evident by the way your dress was sticking to your back as you tried to navigate your way through the crowd of people and get to the kitchen.
When you eventually made it there your gaze immediately went to your boyfriend Jake, he was standing laughing with a few of his friends you recognized from picking him up from football practice. You’d seen them on the field a few times, having called out mocking comments every once in a while as you dragged him away from the bleachers.
You were sliding in next to him and he wasn’t sparing you a glance, too caught up in his conversation to realize his girlfriend had arrived and was looking noticeably flustered.
Despite him not paying any attention to you, somebody was and you flushed as you awkwardly looked away from the deep stare one of Jake’s friends was giving you. He wasn’t on the team but you knew him more than the others, being your boyfriends best friend over everybody else.
You wrapped your hand around Jake’s arm and leaned into him, finally getting his attention as he shot you a quick glance and raised a dismissive eyebrow before continuing on talking to the others.
Your throat burned like you were about to cry but you ignored it, not wanting to cause a scene or embarrass yourself in front of the unrelenting eyes of teenage boys. Shifting uncomfortably, you waited for him to finish as you willed the anxiety to go away.
It was Jake’s idea to attend the party in the first place despite you telling him you weren’t feeling up to it this weekend. You were stressed from exams and work, not to mention your stomach had been upset for days and you felt disgusting as you squeezed into a tight dress and heels to appease him.
Jake hadn’t always been a bad boyfriend, in fact when you had started dating at the beginning of high school he was an absolute angel in human form.
You loved him more than anything but you couldn’t deny the changes in his personality as years went on and his social circle changed. He was less focused on you and your relationship, harsher when you fought and even more dismissive towards his parents and random store workers you’d encounter out on dates, leaving you to usher apologies and follow your boyfriend out of restaurants and stores.
Heeseung, your boyfriends best friend who was currently sipping out of his red cup and watching you with low eyes, had been Jake’s friend before you met him even and sometimes you wondered if he ever felt the same way you did.
At times you wanted to ask the older boy, question him on if he was upset Jake had gotten new ruder friends and started to leave the two of you behind, demand to know if you were being dramatic or if your feelings were justified.
You never did however in fear of it getting back to Jake and upsetting him, plus the fact you rarely spoke to Heeseung lately outside of group hangouts and casual greetings.
20 minutes had passed now in the kitchen, making it two hours over the time Jake had assured you he’d have you home. You were fidgeting against his side constantly and he turned to glare at you, momentarily stopping in his rants and conversation.
“Go wait in the car.” He was muttering and handing you the keys without another word. You stood frozen in shock for a few seconds before tears of embarrassment welled up and you were turning and rushing out of the kitchen.
You felt completely humiliated considering the fact he had practically talked to you like a dog in front of his friends who already didn’t respect you, seeing you as a nagging girlfriend who took up too much of their friends precious time. You weren’t out of the house yet, barely passing through the living room, when a hand was grabbing your arm and spinning you around.
You yelped softly as you were pulled into a dimly lit hallway and you felt your back bit the wall behind you, glancing up to see who had tugged you away from your exit.
Your eyes were widening as you realized it was Heeseung, standing oddly close to you as he peered down with hooded eyes. Jake was taller than you but Heeseung even towered over him, making your height difference almost comical. You shifted against the wall awkwardly and looked up at him through your eyelashes.
“You’re leaving?” He was speaking in a hushed tone, voice low and slow as he watched you. He wasn’t pinning you against the wall fully but you’d have to scoot past him if you wanted to leave, almost toe to toe with the taller boy.
“I mean you heard what he said.” You were flushing again, still embarrassed at how dismissive Jake had spoken to you. You shook your head and looked down at the floor instead of saying anything else.
Heeseung was reaching a hand up and touching your face softly, a soft gasp coming from your lips at the feeling of his fingers on your chin as he slowly brought your head back up to look at him again. You’d never touched him before outside of small side hugs of greetings or brief contact when passing him something.
Your eyes were shooting back towards the party with panic, worried what somebody would think if they saw you and your boyfriends best friend only inches away with his hand holding your face like you were something delicate and precious.
“He’ll be busy for a while.” Heeseung’s voice was somehow lower than it had been the first time he spoke as he halfway guessed what you were thinking, turning your head to the side softly.
“What are you doing?” You were breathing out the words in confusion, peering up at him with wide eyes as his thumb moved softly on your skin. He seemed unaffected by his own strange actions but you didn’t miss the way his jaw clenched every time you spoke to him in such a soft voice.
He was leaning towards you more and you pressed against the wall harder, if that was even possible. You could feel his hip bumping you now and his forehead was coming down to rest against yours, swallowing heavily at how close he was getting.
“Heeseung.” You were whispering, head spinning from the range of emotions you’d been put through in such a short time.
His eyes were squeezing shut as you said his name, a slightly pained look on his face as he pulled back and shook his head. You took in a deep breath now that he wasn’t touching you anymore but he was still closer to you than he’d ever been and you felt flips of nervousness underneath all the confusion.
“Let me drive you home.” He was saying eventually once he regained his composure and you raised an eyebrow. “More guys from the team showed up, you’ll just be sitting in the car.”
“Won’t that look weird? If I leave with you?” You were whispering back to him and he sucked in a slightly frustrated breath, wanting to help you out of your shitty situation.
Heeseung stayed silent for a second and you felt guilty for not immediately accepting his kind offer but you couldn’t help but think about how your boyfriend would react to the inevitable whisper that would get back to him, announcing you’d left the part with his best friend.
For a half a second you wondered if he’d care at all, not the same protective and caring boyfriend he had been a few years ago. Maybe he would be relieved that you weren’t his problem for the night anymore and he got to stay out as long as he pleased.
You were just about to accept Heeseung’s offer, the thought of the second scenario making your stomach turn more with desperation to leave, but he was suddenly stepping away from you completely and nodding his head.
He didn’t say anything else, not looking upset at you despite giving you a long stare that was full of guilt and something else you couldn’t quite place at the time. You watched him as he returned back to the party, sliding down the wall and sinking to the floor once he was turning the corner and out of sight.
——
You’d spent the whole day at work the next Monday thinking about what had happened, confused and guilty considering you hadn’t necessarily told the boy to get away from you.
It wasn’t like you’d never considered the fact that Heeseung was attractive. You’d actually met him before Jake, sitting next to him in a club you both had joined and striking up a smile filled conversation before your now boyfriend was stumbling into the classroom and demanding that they hurry to the cafeteria.
Heeseung had given you a sorry smile and made you a promise you’d still show up to the club next week despite his early exit, a handsome smirk on his face when you nodded earnestly at the idea of seeing him again.
And you did see him again, every single week you sat next to each other and talked about everything you could think of.
At some point you’d started to hang out outside the classroom and school as a whole, and that’s where you had officially met his friend that interrupted your first ever conversation all those months ago.
Jake had immediately been infatuated with you, always trying to steal your attention from his friend and openly flirting with you in a way you’d never experienced before. You’d never had a boyfriend or such a passionate suitor and eventually you and Jake started to hang out one on one.
Only once or twice had you considered the possibility that Heeseung had liked you too, retreating when he realized how his best friend seemed to feel about you.
You considered it late in bed some nights and then you would roll over and bury your face in your pillow, guilt eating away at you considering how much you loved your boyfriend and were happy together, at least at the time.
It’d been a few years since you’d thought about Heeseung as anything other than Jake’s friend and now you were getting that sick guilty feeling again as you remembered the way he had held your chin and looked down at you with such affection.
The sick feeling stayed as you finished work and made your way back to Jake’s apartment. You stayed there more than you did at the dorms and it was sort of an unspoken arrangement that you’d come there throughout the week, feeling perfectly at home as you used your own key to unlock the front door.
You immediately froze as you crossed into the threshold and your eyes fell on the boy on the couch, lazily sprawled across it as he watched TV with an uninterested gaze.
It wasn’t a rare sight for Heeseung to be there, almost constant at this point other than weekends but considering you’d spent the entire day thinking about him, you were slightly thrown off to see him in person.
His eyes were going over to you at the sound of the door creaking open and he smirked softly at your frozen frame, knowing exactly what you were thinking as you looked at him from the doorway.
“That you babe?” Jake was calling from somewhere down the hallway and you vaguely processed the fact the shower was running in the distance. You shifted awkwardly in place and closed the door behind you.
“Is it babe?” Heeseung was speaking now in a slightly mocking tone and you flushed bright red, glaring at him and storming past him towards your boyfriends room.
You were suddenly upset at him rather than feeling guilty, understanding that as much as you were Jake’s girlfriend, he was his best friend and the one to initiate the contact with you in the first place. He didn’t say anything as you stomped down the hallway to set your stuff down and he still didn’t speak when you were returning to the living room with crossed arms and a huffy expression.
He raised an eyebrow at you and lazily reached over to grab the remote and turn the TV off.
“What the fuck was that?” You rushed out, keeping your tone low in case Jake could somehow hear you over the loud sounds of the shower and his speaker playing his usual washing up playlist.
For a second you expected Heeseung to ignore you considering how long he took to respond but then he was surprising you and standing from the couch, immediately towering over you as you lost your resolve and uncrossed your arms.
He was taking a few steps in your direction and your mouth parted in surprise at the fact he was almost as close to you as he had been the night before, this time in an even more risky place considering Jake was only a few feet away and not the type of shower for longer than necessary.
“What if I said I was drunk?” He was whispering and peering down at you, gaze heavy and dark as you looked up at him.
You thought for a second before shaking your head at him and looking down at the floor for a second as you gathered your nerves enough to speak. “You weren’t I… I could smell your breath.”
He nodded at your words, a gentle look on his face despite the intensity of his stare and you felt his hand coming again. This time it stopped on your arm, running the tips of his fingers up and down in slight trails that caused you to take a breath and shiver.
“What if I told you I hate the way he treats you.” He was still whispering but he sounded more sure of himself now and you felt your heart drop and he confirmed what his intentions were. “That it drives me crazy knowing I let him have you just for him to take it for granted.”
You were shaking your head and gasping slightly, your hands coming up to try and take his touch away from you. He stopped you and held your arms gently by your elbows, leaving you to touch his biceps as you took a step backwards.
“Don’t say that.” You were rushing out in a hissed whisper, although your face lacked any anger as you looked at him with big sad eyes. “I love him.”
“He doesn’t love you.” He was immediately countering, almost like he didn’t mean to say it and your face was crumbling. Tears welled up in your eyes and he was quickly letting go of your arms so he could cup your face as he desperately kept talking. “I’m sorry Y/N but no one else is going to tell you and I can’t do this anymore. It’s impossible to be around you.”
He was softly rubbing your cheeks with his thumbs and tilting your face up so you could look at him, leaning in closer as he watched you with a guilty expression.
It was too close and your heart was beating as it also broke at the confirmation that Jake wasn’t in love with you anymore. You had suspected it due to his behavior obviously but hearing it made you feel lightheaded, especially coming from the person he’d trust the most with that information.
Heeseung was leaning down and you could just barely feel his lips grazing over yours before you were pushing him away, snapping out of it and touching your mouth in panic with wide eyes. He stumbled back a few feet and looked at you with a hurt expression but nodded softly and didn’t try to approach you again.
The timing was in your favor considering only a few seconds later the shower was turning off and Jake was stepping out into the hallway with a towel around his waist, eyeing the two of you standing in the center of the room weirdly before asking why the TV had been turned off.
——
The following weekend you officially declined Jake’s offer to attend another party. You almost always did despite never wanting to and he tried to convince you like he did every single time, normally getting you to consign after a few pleads.
He seemed particularly agitated when you put your foot down and told him that under no circumstances would you be going and you hoped he’d have fun without you. He angrily responded that he would before hanging up the phone and leaving you to lay on your bed with the silence of your actions.
It’d been a week since Heeseung had almost kissed you and you’d been feeling the ghost of his touch every night since, along with the weight of what he had told you about your boyfriend.
You hadn’t mentioned it to anybody, especially not Jake but you couldn’t stop considering the possibilities of what this could mean for you. Jake liked having a girlfriend as far as you knew, somebody on his arm at parties and to appease his parents for the holidays, so you didn’t necessarily think he’d break up with you any time soon.
Maybe that’s what Heeseung had meant when he said nobody else was going to tell you and you wondered how many people knew how loveless your relationship was.
You’d been thinking yourself to death ever since the conversation happened and you were reaching your breaking point, eyes welling up with tears as your chest got tight and restricted. You shook your head and picked your phone up off your chest before you could think about it twice.
The call was picked up on the second ring and you could hear the loud sounds of music and laughter, an active party going on around the person on the other line and you immediately felt guilty for what you were about to say.
“Y/N?” Heeseung’s low voice sounded even deeper over the phone and you squeezed your eyes shut in nervousness. “You okay? Are you there?”
You didn’t say anything for a few seconds as you listened to the sound of his breathing, trying to sync yours and calm yourself down enough to be able to respond to him. You wondered if he could hear your stuttered gasp and inhales.
“Can you come over?” You eventually forced out in a tight voice, breaking into a small sob mid sentence that made his heart sink to his stomach.
At the party he was turning away from Jake so he could hear you better, watching as he laughed and leaned closer and closer to a girl that was on your rival schools cheerleading team. He was seconds from breaking them up or storming out before you had called and your boyfriend didn’t even bat an eye when he heard your name accidentally slip from his friends mouth in a worried tone.
“I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
——
You had only lasted about 30 seconds after hanging up the phone before you were eaten alive with guilt and crying even harder.
For a second you questioned why you hadn’t even attempted to call Jake first, you knew he wouldn’t have answered you and if he did he certainly wouldn’t have left the party he’d just arrived to a few hours prior but it made you sick that you hadn’t even considered trying him before you instinctively were pressing Heeseung’s contact.
Not long after there was urgent knocks at your door, followed by softer ones immediately after that would’ve made you laugh if you weren’t so upset. You were standing and opening the door to see a flustered Heeseung standing there.
“I was worried you fell asleep.” He was explaining his secondary knock and you just nodded, scanning his outfit.
He looked nice always but you realized you liked him best when he got ready for parties. He really knew how to dress himself and it was always interesting to see him after he carefully parted his hair, showing off his newly shaven undercut.
You felt out of place considering you were wearing pajama shorts and a large T-shirt that could potentially have been Jake’s in high school although you’d been using it as a sleep shirt for so long it definitely belonged to you now.
Heeseung’s expression fell at the sight of your swollen eyes and messy dorm room and you sighed, reaching forward to pull him softly out of the hallway so you could close the door behind him and avoid somebody seeing him awkwardly outside your room in the middle of the night.
“What happened?” He was whispering and you sat on the bed softly, watching him with glossy eyes until he sat beside you and turned his body so he could face you better as you started to talk.
“I just don’t want to think about it anymore.” Your voice was breaking and you shook your head again, feeling tears collecting under your chin. “My brain won’t shut off, I don’t know what to do.”
He was shifting forward as you broke down, kissing his teeth in upset and holding your face, similarly to the way he did last week. You were meeting his gaze and sniffling as he gently wiped your tears and for a second your eyes went down to his lips before immediately bouncing back up.
He didn’t miss the action but he didn’t acknowledge it yet, letting you calm down more and clear your head before he spoke again.
“Can I help you forget?” He was whispering as he looked at you and your stomach turned at the implications, his words heavy in the tensioned air as he watched you with doe like eyes. He seemed genuinely and earnest and you felt your heart break again, this time for different reasons.
You thought about pushing him away and demanding he leaves, telling him this was a mistake and you shouldn’t have called him at all in the first place. You knew he would leave immediately and try his best to not make you feel awkward the next time you saw each other so you’re not sure why you were so hesitant to do so.
Then you thought about Jake and you thought about the fact he was at a party right now, not bothering to ask why you didn’t want to attend and instead being angry and going alone. You thought about how he wouldn’t have answered your call, how he never did and how Heeseung had answered before it barely rang and made it to your dorms within ten minutes.
He didn’t demand a reason or complain you were taking him away from his friends, interrupting his weekend or making him feel guilty for having a social life.
He came to your side despite you avoiding him the entire week and he held you as you cried about the boy he had given you up for, being too good of a friend to deny Jake when he had begged for permission to take you out on a date before Heeseung got the courage to.
You thought about all this and then you thought about how you couldn’t stand thinking for another second, leaning forward and kissing Heeseung gently before you talked yourself out of it.
He was stiffening immediately in shock and you pulled away in fear of his reaction, thinking you had somehow read the situation wrong and he wasn’t expecting that out of tonight or his offer to help you. You were parting your lips to apologize to him when he was surging forward and cutting you off.
Kissing Heeseung felt different than kissing Jake and you flushed at the fact you were kissing somebody other than your boyfriend for the first time.
Where Jake was passionless and routine, Heeseung was desperate and clingy like he had been waiting to kiss you for his entire life. His hands were still on your cheeks and he kept pulling you in deeper like he was scared you were going to disappear.
You tried to reassure him by scooting closer to him on the bed, placing a hand over his as you tilted your head and deepened the kiss. He groaned softly into your mouth and you squealed as he was suddenly pulling you forward and off the bed, landing onto his lap as you tried to catch your balance.
His mouth was on your again before you could process the fact you were straddling him now and you tried to shut off your thoughts and kiss him, shuddering slightly at the feeling of his hands on your lower back.
“Hee.” You were muttering into his mouth and he pulled back slightly to look at you, panting with swollen lips and hooded eyes. His gaze was shooting all around your face like he was trying to believe you were actually here and doing this. “Get on the bed more.”
It took him a few seconds to unfreeze but eventually he was nodding and scooting backwards with you on top of him, stopping when his back hit the headboard as he waited for you to make another move.
And you did, taking a small breath before leaning forward to kiss him again. It was messier this time and you whined softly into his mouth, feeling his tongue against yours and one of his large hands coming up to hold the back of your head and keep you pressed tightly against him and his open mouth.
He stopped kissing you briefly to trail down your chin and neck, stopping at your collarbone as he left wet and sloppily kisses on your hot skin, drinking in the way you gasp and reached forward to clutch onto his arms.
You could feel his muscles flexing under your hands as he tried to restrain himself, one of his hands still in your hair as the other softly massaged your hip bone without him even meaning to.
“So pretty.” He was grunting against your neck and a shiver ran through you at how out of breath he sounded just from kissing you, you shook your head as you felt him bite down softly on your skin.
“No marks.” You whispered in a half pant and he lifted his head up to look at you, furrowing his eyebrows like he was slightly hurt by the suggestion. You didn’t say anything for a second and just looked at him, hands tightening around his thick arms. “We can’t Heeseung.”
You saying his name made his eyes soften and he nodded his head in agreement, understanding the situation was about to get extremely complicated and he didn’t want to add to the drama that was inevitably going to happen. You looked saddened again at the reminder of your boyfriend and he frowned, surging forward again to capture you in another heavy kiss.
You hummed in appreciation and accepted it immediately, leaning into him and moving a hand up so you could feel the way his jaw tensed at the feeling of your tongue pressing against his.
It wasn’t long before he was growing impatient from all the kissing and the feeling of you hovering over him in his lap, grabbing your waist with his large hands and flipping the both of you over like it was absolutely nothing. You squealed at the sudden movement and laughed softly at his neediness, eyes squinting as you did so.
He was hovering over you on his elbows, planking as he looked down at you with a small grin.
“God you’re so beautiful.” He was breathless as he said it and you flushed. Your hair was splayed out across the pillows as you smiled and he felt his heart beat in happiness despite the way his stomach was turning in anger, anger at missing out on you for so long and anger at Jake for hurting something as sweet as you.
“Don’t think about him.” You were whispering and touching his cheek, bringing him back to the moment as his eyes softened. “I’m here with you.”
His chest filled with pride at your words and he felt a wave of possessiveness over come him at the truth in your words, the fact you were currently laying underneath him and not anybody else. He was nodding at you before kissing you again softly.
You groaned into his mouth at the feeling and shifted underneath him, liking the way he immediately lowered his body down so he was pressing you into the mattress underneath his weight but still holding himself up enough so he didn’t hurt you.
The kiss was soft for a few minutes as you got used to the new position and the feeling of him on top of you but eventually you were feeling anticipation eating away at you and your stomach was lighting up with want and desperation for him to do something, anything more. You shifted again and whined softly into his mouth causing him to lean back slightly.
He saw the look in your eyes, the way your lips parted in a slight pant and he smirked slightly before kissing your cheek.
“Please.” You were whispering out in a half gasp and his gaze darkened now, your hand coming up to bunch up a chunk of his shirt in your shaking hands. “Heeseung please.”
He didn’t need to be told twice, mesmerized by your soft voice begging for him to do something as he sat up off you slightly to pull his shirt over his head. You watched him as he did it and your stomach turned in arousal at the sight of his bare skin. You’d seen him shirtless countless times at pools or lounging around on a hot day but having him like this in this context made your body light up.
“Tell me what you need baby.” He was leaning back down to kiss you and push your hair from your face, his other hand going down to rest on your hip as he softly pushed your shirt up and rubbed at your exposed skin with his thumb. “Whatever you need, I’ll give you anything.”
You nodded at the idea of that and whined desperately, too overwhelmed to probably word what it was that you wanted from him. You shifted slightly again and rubbed a hand up his warm bare skin, slightly satisfied when he lowered himself down onto you again.
“Hee.” You gasped out at the feeling and you clenched his arm, nails digging into his skin when he was hard and fully pressed against you.
“I know baby I know.” He kissed you again finally and groaned into your open mouth. He was going crazy as you squirmed underneath him but he didn’t want to pressure you or suggest anything you’d agree with in a hazy state of lust, waiting for you to request something you knew you wanted.
You impatiently trailed a hand down towards his that was resting on your hip and you guided his upwards, gasping softly as he laid it over your ribs and could feel how hard your heart was pounding.
He watched you in curiosity for a second before softly moving it up even further, understanding from your small and desperate nod that you wanted him to take the shirt off completely. You sat up slightly so he could pull it up and off your body before flopping back against the bed and awkwardly looking at him, suddenly self conscious considering how bare you were.
“Fuck.” He was groaning out as he looked down at you, eyes transfixed on your chest as you took sharp breaths that caused your entire body to rise and fall. His large hand was moving forward and not wasting any time, aggressively groping you as he pressed his lower half harder against you.
You let out a small cry and shifted your legs so they were spread more, sitting on either side of his hips so he could be completely pressed against your core as he touched you so vulgarly.
“So fucking pretty, so sweet baby you should’ve been mine.” He was shaking his head in frustration as he spoke the weighted words, leaning down and kissing your chest softly but avoiding the sensitive places you were hoping he’d get to. “He could never deserve you, he doesn’t have the slightest idea what to do with all this.”
Despite not wanting to think about Jake or your relationship and having half the mind to tell him to stop mentioning it, you felt a wave of arousal at his possessive wording.
“What would you do if I was yours?” You rushed out and he looked up at you through his eyelashes from where he was still laying wet kisses on your body. He picked his head up slightly and shifted so he was closer to your face again, your nipples hardening up at the feeling of his bare chest pressed against his now.
“Never would’ve looked at him.” He was shaking his head as he looked down at you and you clutched his arm harder as he started to talk. “You never would’ve thought about anybody other than me babygirl I promise you, I’d have taken such good care of you.”
You were nodding and you felt slightly embarrassed by the tears springing to your eyes, the emotion immediately forgotten at your desperation and want for him to keep speaking to you.
“I know Hee, I know.” You gasped out and squeezed his arm. “Should’ve been you.”
He was pausing for a second, something you didn’t recognize passing through his face, before he was leaning down so he could kiss you again. It was slow and careful like he was trying to savor the moment again and you felt cared for due to his gentle approach.
You could feel him hard against you as he lowered himself completely again, shifting so you were pressed together even tighter and he throbbed and rocked softly forward into your core. Your legs were bending slightly so he had more access and your shorts bunched up on your thighs at the movement, almost all your skin available for him.
He took advantage of this as his large hands immediately went to your exposed legs, rubbing them up and down your warm thighs softly like he was really taking his time to explore and cherish every single inch of your body.
You felt another wave of affectionate wash over you underneath the complete desire that was dizzying your senses, understanding from his words that he had thought about this more than you had ever realized.
“I want you.” You were pleading into the kiss and he faltered for a second, big wide eyes hesitant and questioning as he waited for you to specify and confirm what he thought you were saying. “I want all of you Heeseung, please.”
He liked it when you said his name, he always had, even when it was something as simple as catching his attention because you were ordering food for everybody or calling him over in a crowd as he searched for you and Jake. He liked it most like this, he was quickly deciding, for more reasons than just how nice it sounded falling from your lips as you gasped and whined.
He liked hearing it like this because it was a direct acknowledgment that he was here with you and not Jake, not anybody else that could fulfill a meaningless rebound after you’d gotten your heart broken.
You’d chosen him this time and the way you said his name continuously, despite the fact you were slightly delirious with need and lust, kept him grounded in this fact as proof that you wanted him here.
“You want me to fuck you?” He was mumbling it as he kissed at your jaw, causing you to suck in a breath and wrap your arms around his warm back.
You were nodding repeatedly although he couldn’t see it now, mouth on your neck as you hooked your chin over his shoulder and kept making little cries as he rocked his hips against yours. You felt like you were going crazy and you wished you could gather your thoughts enough to tell him how good he was making you feel.
“I’ll fuck you like you belong to me.” He was muttering as he pulled back softly, laying your head back down before sitting up and helping you pull your shorts off. You cried out in complaint at the loss of contact but used the rest of your strength to attempt to pick your hips up and assist him.
“I do.” You whined out once he was laying back on top of you and you pulled him in for a sloppy kiss that was more so you trying to stick your tongue in his mouth as he watched you with an endeared expression. “I wanna.”
He’d thought about you like this more times than he’d ever admit, always feeling guilty every time you’d smile in his direction or peer up at him in question and his mind would immediately go to the image of you underneath him and panting for air like you were now.
He’d spent lots of nights wondering what you were like when you were being touched, wondering what you sounded like and if he could pull sounds from you that you didn’t even know you could make.
Jake would talk about you sometimes but he couldn’t find it in himself to listen despite his curiosity and fantasies, always going into a silent rage as he listened to your boyfriend talk about you like a piece of meat.
He was shushing you as you continued your mantra and repeated begs, exclamations about wanting to be his and little overwhelmed hiccups and he pressed himself against you again, this time with only his underwear separating you.
“Heeseung please.” You felt large tears rolling down your cheeks but you didn’t care, not feeling embarrassed despite your desperation showing.
“I know sweet girl, it’s okay.” His tone was gentle but the way he was rolling his hips into yours was anything but, constant slams of his clothed hard on against you as you scratched at the skin of his back. “I have to stretch you first baby.”
You were immediately shaking your head and he frowned softly, kissing underneath your eyes where your tears were collecting as you started to object his statement. “No need… just please.”
If you were in a clearer headspace you’d be saying differently considering the fact that you and Jake weren’t at the most sexually active point in your relationship and it had been a while since something had been properly inside of you, most likely needing the prep before anything.
Still, he couldn’t disagree with you upon hearing the urgency in your voice and you were thankful for that since you felt like if he wasn’t inside you in the next few minutes you’d just completely shut down.
“I’m bigger than Jake.” He was muttering as he shifted on top of you to push his boxers off. He wasn’t taking a dig at his friend intentionally, stating a fact for your own preparation but his lips quirked into a smirk when you let out a small laugh at his statement.
You whined softly at how slow he was going and he was immediately shushing you before leaning back down to kiss you, a hum of satisfaction vibrating your lips when he deepened it.
You could feel him pressing against you completely now and you shuddered, fighting the urge to break the kiss and looked down at him now that he was also completely naked with you. You didn’t want to stop kissing him however or get too overwhelmed too fast, knowing the sight of him entering you would drive you to your breaking point.
The feeling of him even slightly pushing in immediately had you stiffening up and sucking in a pained breath, understanding why he had warned you about his size just a few seconds ago.
“Shit I’m sorry.” He was groaning and shaking his head, stilling on top of you completely as he waited for you to say anything and let him know what he should do next. “I can pull out.”
You were quickly shaking your head and tightening your hold around his shoulders, happy he wasn’t complaining about the way your nails were tearing his skin. “No no don’t, it’s okay.”
“Just give me a second.” You were wincing and sucking in deep breaths, feeling slightly better when he dipped his head to kiss you softly. “Been a while.”
He was stiffening more as you said that. He knew Jake was still actively having sex considering he was his best friend and the subject to late night text of excited emojis and the thought of it being with somebody other than you made his stomach turn in disgust.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered when you felt him harden, misinterpreting his reaction as frustration for having to wait for you to get used to his size.
“What?” His attention was immediately back on you and he shook his head as he saw your saddened expression, leaning down to kiss you softly again and brush your hair from your sweaty face. “No baby not you, don’t say sorry.”
You nodded although not fully convinced and let him kiss you deeply for a few seconds, squeezing him tightly and rubbing his back a few times until you were ready for him to try and move.
When you finally gave him the go ahead he was slowly inching himself inside of you, being careful not to hurt you in any way while also gritting his teeth in an attempt to not just fully slam into you and get it over with. You were tight and wet around him and he swore under his breath and he laid his head down onto your shoulder.
Once he was fully inside you, you finally let out a breath that was immediately followed by a soft whine at how full you were, how deep he had managed to reach.
“Fuck.” He was shaking his head against your shoulder and you let out a small breathy laugh in agreement, understanding what he meant by the simple exclamation. “How are you so fucking tight?”
“Hee.” You were tapping his back and he picked his head up to look at you in question, eyebrows furrowed with a wild look in his eyes. You didn’t need to say anything, simply shifting underneath him and tightening your legs around his sides. He understood immediately and kissed you quickly before starting to move.
Your mouth was opening in a cry as he pulled out halfway before burying himself inside of you again, any pain you had felt from the stretch of him immediately being replaced with waves of pleasure and ecstasy.
You were driving him crazy with the sounds you were making and the way you were clenching around him, having half the mind to reach down and press down onto your stomach just so he could feel himself inside of you.
“Doing so good baby, my sweet girl.” His voice was raspy as he spoke the sweet words to you and your heart clenched again at his tone and words of endearment.
It didn’t completely miss you that he was treating you so gently, taking care of you in a way you hadn’t experienced in almost two years. Heeseung wasn’t just trying to fuck you, trying to help you forget your troubles and be done with it, he was making love to you.
“Feels too good.” You hiccuped out and he grunted with agreement, perfectly wrecking you as he kept fucking into you at a slow and deep pace. He was kissing you again but you were both in a haze of pleasure, mainly just breathing against each other.
You were rocking together as he fucked against you, doing almost all the work considering you were too overwhelmed to even form proper sentences. He felt perfect inside you and you were reaching your high sooner than you ever had, clutching on to him tightly as you tried to give him some warning.
He was nodding his head in understanding, feeling you get impossibly tight around him as you started to come undone with him still inside of you. For a second he was panicked thinking about your lack of protection before remembering that fact you were on birth control, having packed it as he watched when you went camping earlier this year.
He hoped you weren’t worrying about it either as he reached his finish seconds after you, wanting to assure you that he was clean and hadn’t been with anybody since he had met you.
Deciding against it, knowing it might just be too much for you to handle right now, he instead opted for rolling over slightly and pulling you with him so you were resting against his chest. He kissed you softly and rubbed your back like you had been doing to his the entire time you were touching.
You weren’t saying anything and he was suddenly worried that you would regret this as you left your sex driven haze.
“Y/N.” He was murmuring, trying not to spook you and you shifted your gaze so you could look him in the eyes hesitantly. “Are you okay?”
You were nodding but it obviously wasn’t the truth considering you immediately winced and laid back down on his chest, finding it easier to speak when he wasn’t watching you. “I know I shouldn’t be with him… but it still doesn’t make this right.”
Your words hung heavy in the air as you both fell into an uncomfortable silence, not expecting to talk about your current situation only a few seconds after you finished having sex with him. He felt slightly hurt by your statement but he also knew he should’ve expected such a talk and for you to feel guilty about being with him.
“It isn’t right but neither is the way he treats you. Plus, you know I won’t tell him if you don’t want me to.” He added the second part despite the crack he felt in his chest, knowing their was a chance you’d go back to Jake and let this remain your little secret.
“You have to tell him.” You were countering and the way your face vibrating when you spoke caused a tickle on his skin. “We have to.”
You said the words like they meant something important, picking up your head to look at his reaction even, but he wasn’t quite sure what you were insinuating, tilting his head as he stared at you and waited for you to explain what you wanted him to understand more clearly.
“We can tell him together.” You furthered your words and his stomach flipped with nerves. “Tell him about us.”
You stressed the word so there wasn’t any room for further confusion, clearly implying that you were seeking the same thing he was and you were open to trying things out with him after you officially ended things with Jake and convinced to him what you’d done.
He was breaking out into a wild smile and nodding his head in agreement, not even caring about the consequences of telling your boyfriend and his best friend, no doubt losing that connection. He’d seen it coming for a while now and as much as it saddened him to watch his friend mold into somebody unrecognizable, it was becoming unhealthy to stay his friends and enable his behavior.
You looked nervous at his lack of verbal response but you felt better when he pulled you back down into a kiss.

i beg of you, please make nice!sweet!reader hit jason in the head with a lunch tray to defend eddie. then he immediately falls in love with her
I'm ngl this made me laugh out loud when I first read it but I love the idea so much that I couldn't not write it.
Word Count: 1668
A/n: this is not proof read at all so please forgive me if there are any mistakes
The relative calm of the cafeteria didn’t last for long, especially not when Jason and the rest of the basketball squad entered the room and took their seats at their usual table that was pretty much in the centre of the room considering they thought they were school royalty which was ridiculous, or so she thought anyway. Rolling her eyes and focusing back on her food as she listened into the conversation a few of her friends were having about a party at the weekend, one they had asked her to come too but she had refused as parties were not her thing. The loud music she could deal with but the drunk rowdy teenagers on the other hand, well she’d rather stick pins in her eyes than deal with them, no she much preferred to stay at home for a movie marathon or snuggled up under a soft blanket with a new book, both sounded like a better idea to her.
Her focus did not stay on the conversation for long, not when the familiar voice of Eddie Munson rang out through the cafeteria. A small smile worked its way onto her face as she turned to watch him, strutting along the table he and his friends sat at, his arms wildly waving about by his head as he passionately ranted away as his friends laughed along with him. To her, Eddie seemed similar to Jason in the sense that he was confident, loud and brash about things he cared about but there was one main difference. Jason was the cocky, self centred kind, believing that he is better than everyone else because his parents are rich and well-to-do, that he can do no wrong because he’s the captain of the basketball team. Whereas Eddie is confident in himself, he knows who he is, what he likes and doesn’t care if he fits in as long as he’s true to himself. It’s brave and she admires him for it which she thinks is what compels her to do what she does next.
Eddie’s speech doesn’t last long before Jason and a couple of his friends, who she hasn’t bothered to learn the names of, waltz up to him where he’s still standing on the table, now staring down at them with a challenging grin. “What can I do for you boys” he asks, innocently as if he doesn’t know that they’ve only come over to cause trouble and be rude to his friends.
“You know damn well what you’re doing freak” Jason spits and she watches as his hold body straightens as he looks up to Eddie, clearly not liking the power the higher ground gives him. “No one wants to sit here and listen to the shit you’re sprouting” he says matter of factly and the two boys beside him nod in agreement.
That’s all she can stand to listen to, she hates when anyone puts anybody else down but Jason and everybody else in this town for that matter seem to have a personal vendetta against Eddie just because of who his father is and because he refuses to fit in. It also annoys her that no one ever stands up for Eddie, not that he can’t handle himself but it’s always good to know you’ve got someone ready to fight your corner, to know you’re not alone in the world.
Anger bubbling inside her, she grabs her bag and pushes away from the table taking her tray of half eaten lunch with her as she ignores the questions from her friends about her sudden disappearance. She makes her way through the cafeteria without drawing anyones attention, being unnoticeable has its perks sometimes but she also has a feeling that it has something to do with the scene between Eddie and Jason that has captured everyone's attention. As she passes the bin, she dumps the contents of her tray into it but instead of heading in the direction to put her tray back, she heads towards the commotion.
Again no-one notices her approaching them or when she lifts the tray above her head but the resounding crack of it coming down on the top of Jason’s head and his following groan of pain as it hits is hard to miss. Jason’s two friends make no move towards her as she suspected they would but Jason is quick to whip around, arm already raised to throw a punch to the unknown person behind him and she braces herself for its impact. Only it never comes, instead Jaon stands frozen before her looking rather bewildered, it seems that Jason’s parents did at least teach him one good thing that it’s never okay to hit a woman which she’s thankful for as she doesn’t think the adrenaline coursing through her would be enough to numb the pain from a hit from him.
Although there is enough adrenaline left for her to curse Jason out, “You are a fucking asshole” she spits, proding a finger against his chest as if it would enhance her point, “You are insufferable, a jerk and-and” she faulters for more insults as the braveness she felt before wanes as she’s suddenly aware of all eyes in the cafeteria now being on her. She crosses her arms over her chest and takes a step back from him, “and for your information some of us enjoy listening to his shit” she finishes with a curt nod before turning and briskly walking out of there to find somewhere to hide as the reality of what she’s just done hits her.
On her way out what she doesn’t see is the look of awe on Eddie’s face as he watches her leave and he makes up his mind within seconds as he forgets about Jason. He reaches for his lunch box, flashing a grin to the just as bewildered members of Hellfire club before he practically launches himself from the table. He manages the jump pretty well, only landing with a small stumble as he rushes after her.
She’s halfway down the hall when she hears the pounding of feet behind her and she increases her pace thinking that it’s Jason coming for her but the mass of denim, leather and wild hair that appears beside her is answer enough that it’s not Jason. She actually wishes it was Jason for a second when she realises that it’s Eddie because she has no idea how the boy is going to react to what she just did.
“I cannot believe you just did that,so fucking metal honestly” he says as he grabs her arm to stop her from walking any further, “who knew that the shy, quiet, pretty girl would defend the school freak” he adds with a huge grin on his face.
“Don’t call yourself that” she frowns, this was not what she expected at all and she completely skips over the fact he called her pretty because if she focuses on it too much she’s going to do something she’ll probably regret - like kiss him. “You’re not a freak, you’re different sure but there's more to you than that prick in there” she states, placing her hand on top of his that’s still holding onto her arm as she nods her head back towards the cafeteria.
Eddie looks at her suspiciously as she talks, sure he practically fell in love with her the moment the empty tray came crashing down on Jason’s head but even still the kindness she bestows upon him seems too good to be true and he’s not at all sure if this is just some practical joke that Jason somehow orchestrated.
“Ok I’ve made this weird I’ll just go” she sighs as Eddie’s silence seems to stretch on but the moment she tries to walk away his grip on her arm tightens, not enough to be painful but enough to keep her in place. Now it’s her turn to be confused, “Eddie what-” is all she gets out before she’s interrupted.
“You’re serious? You’re not playing games with me?” he asks and it makes her sad that he would even think that she would do that to him, that anyone would do that to him. She shakes her head in response to tell him that no she’s not playing games with him and he relaxes, a smile lighting up his face, “and you like listening to the shit I say?” he asks, eyebrow raised teasingly and she feels her cheeks heat as he repeats back her confession she made earlier but she nods in conformation which only seems to make him happier. “What would you say to grabbing a milkshake at the diner with me after school then I can talk your ears off with nonsense?”
He phrases it like a question but it also seems like a joke to her as well and she’s unsure when she answers, wondering whether or not he’ll just laugh in her face and tell her it was all a joke, that he wouldn’t dream of going on a date with someone like her. Wait, was she getting ahead of herself? Was this a date? She didn’t know but the thought was appealing to her, a date with Eddie Munson, that was something her friends wouldn’t believe if she told them.
When she nodded her consent, Eddie’s already wide smile seemed to get even larger and it was infectious as she felt her own lips pulling up as he nodded almost as if he was surprised she said yes. “Good, great, I mean I’ll meet you out front after last class” he corrected himself as he bounced on the spot just as the bell rang and fellow classmates started filtering out of the cafeteria around them.
“Out front after last class” she repeated in understanding, a giddy feeling bubbling up inside her as she was swept away from him in the crowd of students with a promise of an evening spent getting to know Eddie Munson.

I really hope that Nightheart x Sunbeam is a trashfire of a relationship and for that to be the point.
We as a society forgot that the point of Romeo and Juilet was that the two of them were rebelious, emotionally charged teenagers who got infatuated with eachother once, but then when their families steped in and started telling them no, in defiance they pushed further and further into eachother into it eventually killed them both. The tragedy wasn't that they never got to love eachother, it was because they never got to explore their relationship in an honest manner that wasn't them acting spiteful to everybody else.
The point of Nightheart and Sunbeam is that their entire relationship is based off them using eachother to act in defiance of or to escape their clanmates (Squirrelflight, Bramblestar, and Sparkpelt in Nightheart's case, and Lightleap, Blazefire, and Berryheart in Sunbeam's case), and that the two a very clearly both emotionally unstable [Ya sure Nighthearts show that plenty of times, but Sunbeam was just seething at Lightleap in the most petty manner durring her little bothers funeral]
My hope for Shadow and onward is that they have a honeymoon period at first where they're all lovey-dovey, but then relationship slowly but surely begins to slip apart as their more unstable elements clash, but the two will refuse to seperate because it would mean making Squirrelflight and Berryheart smug, so it just continues to rot until it finally explodes in dramatic fashion.
The fact the the will-they-won't-they aspect of the story is already over 2 books in (which is the usual way to keep a romance plot like this going, see BristleRoot), and they couldn't possibly fill 2/3rds of 4 books with "Berryheart doesn't like Nightheart", they need something more for their story and I think this would be great for material.
I know this fandom would hate a story like that, but I've always been capivated by the toxic trashfires of relationships like RaggedYellow, and I'm excited to see us get that as a plot in a main series arc.
I really do hope this is their intention, cause if they do play it off as actually genuine and correct, then this arc is gonna be another kind of trashfire.
I understand people's hesitation to believe that the Erins could pull of a storyline like this without it slipping and falling on its face given their track record, but I'm willing to wait it out and see if they can stick the landing. Shadow is going to be a really important book in solidifying how i feel about this arc going forward
Also people who say Frostpaw's chapters are the only good ones only care about "the plot" and I think those people are boring

18 Seemingly Idiotic Factors To Tell People Who Are Drinking Alcoholic Beverages
I’m never anti-drinking – each on their very own – it is just not personally. In my opinion section of my mindset to alcoholic drinks happens to be designed from the simple fact that it absolutely was never a large taboo with my family members. Delord and dads consumed with meals and sporadically allowed us to, nicely, so I believe that guidelines allowing and promoting this behaviour are useful. Usually, many people are rather respectful, otherwise fascinated, of my option. Advising my buddies and family that I don’t beverage has not actually already been something – as I’ve not ever been a drinker it's not at all something they’ve ever before asked, like my tresses colour or my personal interest in songs. I go with the club and order a glass of wine, however it today tastes so odd if you ask me — too acidic — that I just take one drink and request a weight loss program beverage as an alternative. At 30, I was in identical position just like you be seemingly, conscious that i really could perhaps not take in safely but not able to imagine existence without one. I started to binge drink at vacations once I was 16, with all the periodic blackout. Within the preceding many years, my drinking increased, the binges got nearer collectively in addition to blackouts turned into more standard. I found this really perplexing, when I never realized that which was browsing occur once I obtained a drink. I experienced some good instances, but, more and more, i might trigger chaos and I was saturated in shame and remorse after these binges. In The Same Manner that folks detest dieters — is my restriction, they will have stopped inviting me personally everywhere. Finally Christmas time, we lost a lot of times to hangovers it had been awkward. With four children, it had been impossible to spend-all time between the sheets. When I pulled me downstairs, I’d feel extremely unfortunate for letting them down. Male drivers aged tend to be over-represented in drink drive connected crashes. They’re additionally not likely compared to the bigger population to perceive drink operating behaviour as dangerous or unacceptable. The prospective market for the campaign is actually year-old males, exactly who keep on being seriously over-represented in beverage drive-related collisions. Teenage boys may also be not as likely versus broader populace to view beverage driving behaviour as risky or unsatisfactory. Considering the year we’ve all had, it’s no surprise a large number of us are experiencing a bit more anxious or anxious than typical. However these emotions can result in our consuming to creep upwards, which could have both bodily and emotional effects. But which are the facts around alcohol plus the restrictions you need to be sticking with? I’d embark on a Saturday-night and down a glass of wine — and then a differnt one. I'm sure the sensation, I detest that people attach having to using a very good time. You are able to have fun without ingesting. I'm a person who does not desire drink and that I get expected always why We won’t only “take a sip.” When I do take in, it’s a problem that everybody must yell it to the people around. I don’t prosper being the biggest market of attention as a result it’s extremely unpleasant. Now, it is more straightforward to stay away from going locations where I'm sure everybody else might be ingesting therefore I don’t need say no. They also noticed that people without an area pub had dramatically smaller social networking sites and believed much less involved with, and trusting of, their local communities. (Absolutely an entire chapter about my personal wall-clinging phobia of your). You currently sober-dance with young ones at birthday parties, or just around your kitchen at home. "we imagine in the 1st couple of weeks, I won't be self-disciplined whatsoever," she claims. "But i enjoy believe that after the first couple of weeks are up and existence resumes normality and folks are back at work while the routines are right back truth be told there, it should be much simpler." There’d been a flirtation between Ellie plus the man which worked into the 24-hour convenience store. But that night their brief chat as he stacked the racks turned into a snog. £32would enable a parent or carer to educate yourself on tips save yourself a baby's life.

Everybody shut up because my girlfriend got me into Alfred Molina and I’ve been having Dr Octavius Thoughts
You are Dr Otto Octavius and you are fighting Spiderman on an overpass. Peter keeps insisting that he does not know where your fusion reactor is, in fact he claims not to know you at all. And somehow he's kitted out in nanotech. Oh well, it’s a nice upgrade for you. Then you see his face.
That is not Peter Parker. At least, not the Peter Parker you know. As you take this in, you start to realise that the city you just travelled through did not look the same as usual. The nanotech is starting to raise more questions. Speaking of which, this new Peter Parker has just successfully used said nanotech to take control of your own creation and turn it against you. You don't even know this kid and you already hate him.
In an instant the world around you changes and you're in a cell. A wizard put you there (because why not?). Said wizard starts to explain why you're here and what the hell is going on. Something to do with a bad spell pulling in people from other universes. So The Multiple Worlds theory is real. How about that? The new Peter Parker and his new friends ask what your name is. They laugh at the answer. You should’ve killed him at the overpass.
A few hours pass and your fellow inmates expand to Dr Curt Connors, a man made of sand, someone called Max and Norman Osborn. Norman Osborn. Green Goblin Norman Osborn. Killed-by-his-own-glider Norman Osborn.
That last bit actually sparks some questions and you start remembering where you were before you got here. What you were doing. What you did next. The wizard (appropriately named Strange) seems utterly blasé about returning you and several others back to the moment of their deaths. But new Peter Parker does not. In fact new Peter Parker, the one you just tried to kill a few hours ago, wants to help you. All of you.
He snatches that weird box and both he and the wizard vanish. After a few minutes he returns with the box and without the wizard. He emphasises that he'll definitely send everyone back if they try anything, but not before he makes an attempt at “fixing” them. He can control 4 of your arms, you're not in a position to say no.
One agonisingly awkward drive later, you're in an apartment far too nice to be owned by a teenager. You're proven correct when new Peter's Aunt says Happy won't mind them using it (and they laughed at Otto Octavius). Aunt May makes a horrendous comment about salt water while new Peter and living Norman (that's still catching you off guard) vanish next door to get to work on "cures". You can't decide if new Peter is being kind or stupid.
After a surprisingly short amount of time, they both emerge with a microchip. Before you can marvel at the sheer speed of its creation, new Peter is piloting your arms again and you remember that you hate him. This damn teenager has you restrained and dangling in the air like a piñata and why did you not kill him quicker you...
It's quiet.
You've forgotten what quiet feels like. Forgotten what it's like to have only your own thoughts. Forgotten what thinking was like before... them. The nanobots are recalled and you slowly shift your arms. Your arms. They move at your will, not theirs. And as you settle on the ground floor, you see Norman. The real Norman. And he sees you. The real you.
This moment of perfect recognition is interrupted by the thud of Peter jumping down to join you. He looks so damn happy. He looks more like your Peter. It's the expression of a student going "look at this thing I did! Isn’t it cool?!" But this time you're not his mentor. You're a stranger who tried to murder him.
And he gave you your mind back.
You feel like you should be crying.
He starts talking at that breakneck pace again about the next steps for everyone else. He sticks something to Max's chest and explains the process of power absorption and that he'll get to keep his body after this, before rushing off with Norman to work on something for him.
That’s definitely Peter Parker. No doubt about it.

Meeting and Dating Benny Rodriguez
Tumblr media
(Not my gif)(Requested by anonymous)
- You and Benny met when you were younger. You’d lived in the neighborhood your entire life and with Benny and the boys being the only kids around your house; and the fact that you were a bit of a tomboy in general, they were who you made friends with.
- Like most young boys, they weren’t too keen on some little girl butting into their games, but you were persistent! It took you a couple weeks and a whole lot of effort but soon enough they let you stay and play without any complaints. After that, the rest was history.
- You’d sort of always just been one of the guys. The main reason you were allowed to stick around was because they nearly forgot you weren’t one. You played baseball, weren’t afraid to get dirty, and never acted all “prissy”; you were the only type of girl they’d ever be caught dead letting into their crew.
- And; without any opposition from you, that’s how things went on for a few years. It wasnt until you got a little older that you realized that being “one of the boys” maybe wasn’t the ...greatest thing in the world.
- You sort of always had a thing for Benny. It was easier to brush off and not realize when you were younger but as you got into your teenage years, it became more difficult to ignore.
- And thus, your dilemma finally became obvious. You’d spent so long being one of the guys that you were completely sure Benny only saw you as that; he sure acted like he did.
- So a million thoughts raced through your head. You wondered if you could change how he saw you, if you wanted to, how you’d do it, should you do it, when you’d do it, etc. Maybe you should try some makeup, change your clothes, your personality; should you stop hanging around him so much?
- You had no idea what to do ...so you tried a few things. You dressed a tad bit girlier; not enough to have the gang on you or ruin your ability to play, and wore your hair down, and ...nothing happened.
- All you got was a few comments from the guys asking “what’s up with the hair?”. Soon enough, you were grumpily pulling your hair up into a ponytail after getting not even the slightest reaction from Benny.
- After several attempts, you’re at a loss and somewhat frustrated. You debate just telling him but the day you decide to, you chicken out and stay home.
- Your mother tells Benny you aren’t feeling well when he asks if you can come out and play and you watch from behind the curtain guiltily as he leaves your front steps, casting one last look from behind his shoulder at your window.
- You don’t show up to the field for another day or two before deciding that you need to go back, missing your friends and fresh air. You figure you can play it cool like always, and you do, getting welcome back slaps on the back and shakes.
- You play for a few hours before the boys have to go home and you’re left on the field alone with Benny. You’re just about to walk out as well ...up until Benny calls after you. With a deep breath, you jog back over and stand in front of him.
“You feeling better?” he asks and you both nod, one after the other.
“That’s good. I missed you out here,” he says before seeming to realize what he said. He laughs slightly before following up with a “Yeah-Yeah sucks at playing your position.”.
- You both laugh before he asks “why don’t we play, just you and me. You throw and I’ll hit”. And you try to turn him down, telling him that you should be getting home, but then he gives you that smile of his and a “come on” and you just can’t refuse.
- So you get in position and the two of you play, swapping turns back and forth when you have to run and catch the ball.
- On one of your last few throws, he runs over to hand you the ball but doesn’t immediately let go. Instead, he leans in and presses a chaste kiss to your cheek before running back to his spot on the field, casting a look back at you and subsequently a smile as he does.
- The two of you kiss for real when you’re at the edge of the field, getting ready to walk home. He calls your name and you pause, standing still as he grips your shoulder and leans in, planting a peck on your lips.
“Why’d you do that?” you ask, though it’s obvious that you don’t mind.
He merely shrugs and grins at you. “I wanted to.”
- You can’t help but smile back, letting him wrap an arm around your shoulders and walk you off the field.
- There isn’t a ton of pda in your relationship but there’s a bunch of contact: high fives, his arm around your shoulders, his leg touching yours when you sit next to each other. He just doesn’t want the guys on your case for the rest of the week for a measly kiss in front of them.
- Affectionate hair ruffling.
- Hand holding, usually when the gang isn't around; unless it’s Smalls.
- Forehead and cheek kisses.
- Soft kisses.
- He has your picture on his dresser and you cant help but smile every time you see it.
- When it really comes down to it, he’s got a huge soft spot for you. He may treat you like one of the boys most of the time but there’s a twinkle in his eyes that tells you you’re definitely different from them to him.
- Excited hugs, usually after he accomplishes something big or you get good news.
- Sitting in between his legs, usually with his chest pressed against your back.
- He doesn’t mind cuddling, even if it’s sort of in front of the gang, mainly because his style of cuddling is his arm draped over your shoulder and you resting against his side.
- As though he’d allow you to not have a nickname! He doesn’t really use petnames except; maybe, when he’s using them as jokes or sarcastically, but you’ve probably had a nickname since you were little that he still uses.
- Although, he does say “that’s my girl” to himself or just outloud whenever he gets all proud of you; like when you score a homerun.
- The boys definitely tease him about you. Its the one thing they have on him.
- He lets you win when you guys race. You’re absolutely aware of it but you think it’s cute so you both jokingly pretend he didnt.
- He’s always there to help get you out of a pickle. If you have a problem it is both your problems the minute you tell him.
- He always brushes off your praise with a halfhearted and playful scoff but in actuality, he loves it whenever he gets a compliment from you.
- There’s definitely been moments where you’ve been in his room with him and asked about some sort of clothing item and he just casually asks if you want it. And ...You’re damn right you do.
- Randomly being carried away from things isn’t all too uncommon for you. He likes to pick you up, whether it’s just by your armpits or in a piggyback ride.
- Walking home from school together.
- Spending your summers together.
- Expect a lot of random visits and him calling you to come hang out. If he wants to see you, he’ll just come knocking on your door.
- Smalls is sort of like your adoptive child, even though you're only like two years older than him. You’re just always looking out for the younger boy and making sure he feels welcome and all that.
- Getting introduced to Beast and Mr. Mertle.
- Knowing tons of baseball facts because of him.
- Playing catch in the lot. He goes easy on you but to be fair; he goes easy on most people.
- Looking after him and making sure he doesn’t over exert himself.
- I’m sorry but you’ll have to just accept that baseball is his priority a lot of the time. It’s his “life” and you’ll just have to accept that if you want to be with him.
- He would genuinely ask you to marry him in complete awe if you were to ever get him baseball game tickets.
- He makes a big deal over your birthday, well, him and the rest of the boys. They all cheer when you arrive at the field, giving all their “look who it is’s”and slapping you on the back.
- Going to the movies ...after they put up another screen.... He’ll usually grab your hand and keep glancing over at you whenever you go, he just thinks you’re really pretty.
- Hanging out in the treehouse together.
- Going to the fair with him.
- Pool dates.
-  A lot of your dates get invaded by the gang, especially if they involve pizza …or food of any kind really.
- His mother probably insists on giving him some money every time she hears he’s going to hang out with you because she wants him to be a little gentleman and pay for your “date”.
- Even though you’ve always sort of been seen as just one of the guys, you’re serious bragging rights for Benny; both to the other boys and to Phillips. All it takes is one visit to the pool with them and suddenly they’re all a little envious of their leader.
- Though, to be honest, all the boys in the group have probably; at some point, had a crush on you or thought that you’d end up together because it just makes sense, you know? They weren’t in love but they had those little “why am is my heart racing” type of moments with you.
- Even though he brags about you, he’s still a jealous boy. He pretty much glares at any other guy; besides the guys in the gang, you’re with. Even if he’s doing something else, he finds it difficult to concentrate. The minute you arrive back at his side, he’ll ask why you’re hanging out with them, usually with a subtle; or not so subtle, insult directed towards them.
- Even though he knows you’re capable of holding your own, he’ll still always jump to stick up for you because it’s just a habit of his.
- He’s protective of everybody in his gang so that obviously includes you. He isn’t above fighting; or at least embarrassing, someone who’s giving you a hard time or literally carrying you to a safe distance when you’re near something he deems dangerous. Plus, he’s always the first one at your side no matter what’s going on.
- The two of you don’t fight a ton. You’ve been friends for a while so you sort of already know what rubs each other the wrong way and can avoid them because of that. If you are fighting, it’s probably about something stupid and you wind up just leaving; for one reason or another, as he calls after you.
- That being said, you usually just resolve things after a bit of arguing; without you having to walk off. As an apology, he’ll give you a sincere “hey, I’m sorry, alright?” before making some joke along the lines of asking if you want to hit him. You’ll hug and he’ll kiss your head and everything will be settled.
- You don’t tell each other that you love each other a whole lot; it sort of just isn’t Bennys thing, but you show each other you do with your actions.
- In the future, you’re there at every single one of his games, cheering him on.
- He probably asks you to marry him right after highschool. He just can’t wait to make you Mrs. Rodriguez.

Caring is the Greatest Advantage- Mycroft Holmes x Reader (Part Six)
AN- Two chapters in one night... hope you like them! Soft Holmes Brothers scene at the end because, especially after the Eurus situation, the boys truly do love and care for each other! Not proof read either of these yet so apologies if there are mistakes!
Word Count- 4405
The younger brother's eyes had flicked over you both only momentarily, the tiniest flick up of his lips at the side of his mouth that disappeared so quickly it could have been misinterpreted for a twitch.
"Ever the delight, Sherlock." Mycroft spoke, standing straighter, his chin poking up a little higher. Sherlock glanced over his posture and rolled his eyes.
"Oh for God's sake don't start that Mycroft. Had I blamed you for everything I can assure you I wouldn't have bothered opening the door, don't make it so obvious that you care about my opinion of you- it's embarrassing for both of us." And with that he spun around and headed up the stairs to 221B, leaving the door to the flat wide open and disappearing into the bathroom.
"Well that was.."
"Easy? I told you that you shouldn't worry." You nudged Mycroft into the building before ascending the stairs.
"Sherlock Holmes, possibly the only man in the world to forgive somebody for nearly killing him in a heartbeat, but held a 6 month grudge when I took the last custard cream from the biscuit jar when I was 12.." Mycroft muttered, making his way into the flat and sitting beside you on the two seater sofa. John walked into the room from the kitchen shortly after, a tray of tea and biscuits in hand as he said his hellos.
"Figured I'd stick the kettle on when you said you were on your way.. Greg shouldn't be long now." He gave a smile, taking his place in his own armchair. "How have.." He glanced at Mycroft. "How have you been? He won't admit it, but Sherlock's been worried about you." Mycroft took a breath, sending a polite smile in the direction of the army doctor.
"Doctor Watson, I can assure you that I am fine and have been perfectly well looked after." His eyes flickered to you for a moment and then back to the doctor. "I presume the pair of you have held up well as I haven't heard any reports of gunfire towards the wall for a fair bit of time." John grinned, casting his eyes over to the smiley face on the wall that had thankfully been left alone.
"Good. Yeah, uh, things here have been.. good.. too." A blank stare matched with a more thoughtful raise of lips. ".. Very good, actually.."
"Catch." Sherlock came stalking into the room, a damp flannel thrown in Mycroft's general direction which he caught expertly, not allowing a single moist patch to appear on his clothing.
"And this is.."
"A flannel? Christ Mycroft has trauma affected your brain cells that much?" Sherlock quipped, flopping down into his armchair and lazily holding his hand out for his tea that was a mere few inches away from his fingers. John placed the mug in his hand without thought or argument, his fingers brushing over Sherlock's slightly before moving away. A biscuit soon followed, John holding out the digestive while Sherlock partly opened his lips, and shoving the food between them. It was your turn to raise your brow now, but you didn't say anything, instead just nudging Mycroft with your knee to make sure he had seen it too. Of course he had. "It's for your face, Y/N's lip balm is all round your mouth and it's making me feel a bit sick." John's eyes widened as he looked between the pair of you. You shrugged your shoulders and smiled, Mycroft simply sweeping away the slightly pink balm from underneath his lip and folding the wet cloth back up to place on the side. At least he hadn't picked up that you did it on purpose. Before anybody else could speak, the sound of someone bounding up the stairs filled the flat.
"Sorry I'm late, Ms Hudson let me in an- what did I miss?" Greg stood breathless at the door, satchel slung over his shoulder and a carrier bag in his other hand, staring at the apparent awkward glances shared between half the room. You stood from the sofa and headed over towards him, swiftly wrapping your arms around him and placing a small kiss on his cheek to say hello. He made his way into the room and perched on the arm of the sofa closest to Mycroft, casting another look at everybody when his question still hadn't been answered.
"Nothing of importance. Mycroft and Y/N have obviously decided to stop moping around each other like lovesick teenagers and finally admitted they've been infatuated with each other for years.. Now you're all caught up, can we get these papers sorted out so I can be more productive with my time?" Sherlock huffed.
"Nothing of importance? Don't be an arse Sherlock, that's excellent news." Greg clapped Mycroft on his shoulder and shot you a toothy grin. "Declaration in the park was it? Might be a good enough reason for me to not punch you for closing off St James'.." John's eyes widened more, if it were possible.
"You just.. closed off St James'? Can you even do-" The look Mycroft shot John made him cut his sentence short. "Right, yeah. British Government." He nodded, standing to go fetch Greg a coffee (yourself and Mycroft still held a shared judgement against Greg and his hatred for tea) and continuing to ask questions about your newly confirmed relationship. Mycroft sat awkwardly through the encounter- briefly talking about his emotions in front of you was one thing, a whole flat full of people was entirely different- so you gave his knee a quick squeeze and answered for him. "Who bit the bullet then?" John sat down. "Christ I know I mistook the pair of you being together when I met you, so surely these two have been waiting longer for you to get on with it." Greg grinned, nodding in agreement at John's assumption. Sherlock, on the other hand, stay lying on his chair completely unphased by the conversation going on around him.
"To cut a long story short, we were watching telly, I said Stephen Fry was a bit sexy, Mycroft informed me that he used to get told he had a slight resemblance to him, I realised I'd stuck my foot in it and had a ramble.. Went from there. Nothing too exciting, sorry." You left out the parts where the night before you had handled a broken Mycroft to the shower, how he had gripped onto you, how you held him as you slept. You also left out the way he had allowed himself to cry, how you held him while he wept- and, for that, Mycroft was incredibly thankful. Sherlock probably knew though, somehow, in his Sherlock way of knowing things- but he was either too kind to announce it to the room, or didn't care enough to waste his breath.. probably the latter.
"That's disappointing. You've mentioned about fancying Stephen Fry for years, this could have happened ages ago." John teased.
"Nothing compared to Hugh Laurie though. I'm pretty certain that I'm straight but I'd let him-"
"The papers!!" Sherlock's shout cut Greg's ramble off, making the silver haired man jump and grab his satchel, handing out the reports in a way that reminded you of a teacher with test papers.
"Right, yeah. Sorry. Basically the proper forms aren't ready for another week or so so these are just a few basic questions- nothing too in depth yet since I wanted to give you guys time to... yeah just basic for now." Mycroft chose to read through all the questions before answering them, whereas Sherlock  hastily scribbled his response to each question as he went along- the smaller details in the Holmes brothers' differences are always interesting to stumble upon. As he held the page in his hands, you carefully leant over to have a glance at the questions, your hand resting lightly on his shoulder and your cheek resting just against your fingers- blissfully unaware at the 2 sets of eyes openly staring at your movements, and the one set that watched from the side. Greg was right, in a way, the questions definitely weren't as overbearing as they could be- but that doesn't mean it was an easy task. The questions targeted Mycroft a lot more than it did John and Sherlock, asking things about scenarios and situations that had occured before they were taken, how long it had been since they had any contact with Eurus prior to that evening/ what they discussed, and a few basic questions about any incentives Eurus may have had, and anything that aided her into her plan. Of course the papers weren't labelled with the sister's name, they were generically printed and typically handed out to anybody involved in any kind of criminal behaviours, but that didn't make it seem any less like these were questions that targeted Mycroft in particular. Mycroft took a deep breath and laid the papers back onto the coffee table in front of him, pulling a pen out of his pocket and beginning to write. In this moment you had noticed the small bounce of his left leg, a movement only ever shown by him in times where he had a particularly stressful day at work, or a troubling encounter with his brother- it was a movement that let you know his brain was running a mile a minute and he felt a little more overwhelmed that usual. Without making a point of it, you move your right hand to rest on his mid thigh, allowing your thumb to rub small shapes into his leg to show your support.
Turning your gaze to the rest of the room, you noticed Greg's eyes on you, a grin on his face that practically stretched to his ears. You rolled your eyes at him, using your other hand to flip him off and smiled.
It had taken just under two hours in total for the boys to finish completely (well, an hour and twenty minutes for the Holmes siblings, an extra forty minutes for John whose brain simply didn't work as fast as theirs to convey the information on the paper). The time had passed fairly quickly, with yourself and Greg not wanting to disturb the silence and instead just drinking your hot drinks and stealing a couple of biscuits from the tray. You gave Mycroft's leg one last squeeze before sitting back against the sofa, stretching a little after finally getting out of that position.
"Thanks again for getting this done today." Greg spoke, taking the papers in and putting them in a plastic folder. "I'd better be off anyway, get these filed in." He stood, heading for the front door and tripping over the carrier bag he had brought in with him earlier. "Shit, yeah I almost forgot." He picked up the bag and handed it to you. "Got your coat, and I may have accidentally read your mind if you had been talking about Stephen and Hugh.." You dug through the bag and grinned as you pulled out the box at the bottom.
"You, Gregory Lestrade, are a bloody legend. God I could kiss you!" Your boxset of 'A Bit of Fry and Laurie' rested in your hands and you showed it to Mycroft, beaming at him. His lips raised at your reaction, showing a small glint in his eye, as you explained how now the pair of you would have to binge watch it since Mycroft had never got round to watching them before. Greg barked out a laugh.
"I wouldn't. I don't fancy being hunted by Mycroft's secret services." Mycroft let out a small laugh himself. And with that, Greg was gone and left the flat to the four of you once more.
***
You hadn't stayed at the flat long before you all made your way to Angelo's restaurant, even managing to convince Mycroft to just take a cab rather than bothering his chauffeur for a 5 minute journey.
"Ahhh Mr Holmes, Doctor Watson!" Angelo greeted, pulling the aforementioned men into an awkward half embrace, half headlock. "Back again so soon? I shall get your usual table set up, grab some candles. Anything for you!" The pair of men awkwardly shifted out of the hold and Sherlock offered a smile.
"Not today Angelo, we need a table for four if that suits your capacities here?" Sherlock peered round at the tables inside.
"Of course, a double date, very lovely to see! Come, come!" He led the four of you inside, you grinning at Mycroft at Angelo's casual mentionings of Sherlock and John's usual 'romantic' set up. You were all ushered inside of a small booth and handed menus, the benches were small but tolerable, your thigh just brushing against Mycroft's, him offering a shy smile at the close contact. "You stay here, I'll get to work on those candles. Just for you, Mr Holmes." Angelo spoke again, clapping Sherlock on his shoulder and disappearing into the back of the restaurant.
"He's.. uh.. a bit enthusiastic sometimes." John spoke, his cheeks burning a little at the memories of previous encounters here.
"Quite. Seems a pleasurable fellow." Came Mycroft's response, glancing over the menu. It had taken no time at all for the restaurant owner to appear back with a handful of small tealight candles in glass jars, and a single flower resting in a vase to lay on the table, taking everybody's orders and leaving once again. Then as the food turned up, Sherlock began to prod at the chips on his plate with his knife.
"What are you doing? Eat your bloody food, Sherlock." John quipped, elbowing the man to his side.
"Don't want it.. whoever decided that dessert was only customary after a meal? I'd much rather wait." John gave Sherlock a look and he spoke again. "Don't give me that look, this was your idea. Who even suggests 'late lunch' as a valid meal time? It's impractical. I didn't eat breakfast because we didn't get out of bed until well past the respected breakfast hour.." 'We'.. you didn't press. "So I had a sandwich at lunch which has ruined my appetite for this. Then I'll be hungry again later, but later than dinner time because of how late this lunch is." Sherlock childishly squashed his chip with his thumb. "It's just ridiculous.. they keep adding new names for new meals at new hours, I feel like we're becoming Bobbits."
"Hobbits, brother mine." Mycroft corrected, the faintest smile playing at the side of his mouth as Sherlock's words sounded alarmingly like the ones he had told you only this morning- it was nice when they just got along.
"That's what I said."
"No, you said Bobbits."
"Boys!" John warned, and you broke out into a small fit of giggles.
"We really can't take you anywhere, can we?" You chimed in. Sherlock just huffed, stabbing a chip and eating it as John gave him a stern look. It was quite sweet, actually, watching them be all domestic. By the time you'd finished your meals, yours and John's plates were clear, Sherlock's leaving only a few chips and a mouthful of burger as he found, after starting to eat the food, that he really enjoyed it and wanted more. Mycroft, on the other hand, had managed to leave little over half of his spaghetti bolognese, making comments about the pasta being far too rubbery, or the sauce being too thin, crossing the cutlery over in the centre and making a dismissive comment about making something to eat when he got home- you all knew he wouldn't.
Sherlock had practically jumped for joy when Angelo came out with a tray of chocolate fudge cake, offering slices around the table which you all, bar Mycroft, accepted happily.
"I shan't spoil my appetite for when I get home." Was his small excuse, raising a hand to prevent Angelo from spouting his claims that he had the best cake in London and that he must have a piece, and instead asking for a coffee. Without words being spoken, John cast his eyes over to you and you offered a small sad smile. Nobody had told John of Mycroft's past, but he was a doctor and always knew when signs were displayed. You had taken an extra fork from Angelo just in case and took a small bite with your own fork, unable to let out the (embarrassingly erotic) moan that had escaped you.
"Christ he wasn't lying, this is incredible." You praised, taking another small piece on the second fork. "Mycroft please give it a try." You offered your hand out towards him, the sliver of cake resting on the tip of the fork's prongs. He looked over at it, his mind telling him to give it a go, at the very least because it had been offered by you, but the image of himself in the mirror this morning came back to mind. He declined the offer and you sighed. Mycroft truly did love cake, and any sweet things, so it was heartbreaking for you to see him turning it away because of the thoughts that ran through his brain. Sherlock had already cleared his plate by this point and stood up abruptly, hoisting his coat back over his shoulders.
"I'm going to go out for a cigarette, care to join me Mycroft?" He had asked, walking past the table. Mycroft creased his eyebrows into a frown.
"Sherlock, the pact? I haven't smoked for three years."
"Neither have I, let's go." Sherlock spoke back quickly, hoisting his brother from the booth and taking the pair of them outside. You raised a brow at John who simply shrugged his shoulders.
"I stopped questioning the pair of them and their motives a long time ago." He reasoned, the pair of you turning your heads to see the two Holmes boys outside resting against the restaurant's window.
"I try my best to.. they just still fascinate me." You spoke back, your eyes lingering on Mycroft a little longer before turning back to the table.
"So.. you and Mycroft. Going well?" John asked, his mouth raising in that side smile he often displayed when he was teasing somebody. "I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen Mycroft Holmes smile in a non-threatening way, and over half of those were from since you walked into the flat earlier. I think I can only just about count on two hands times where he's pulled an expression that isn't stoic and emotionless."
"Yeah.. I didn't expect it to happen, if I'm completely honest with you. We've spent so many years just avoiding the subject, but after.. Eurus.. I don't know. It flicked something in Myc that made him regret not doing something about it sooner." John nodded, understanding where you were coming from. "You also don't give him enough credit. Everybody just assumes he's this 'iceman' persona, but it's all a front.. I've watched him laugh so hard that tears fall from his eyes, he's one of those people who throws their heads back and lets out an absolute belter of an infectious laugh. I've seen him get angry at the telly if I came over and some stupid reality show came on the telly.. He shouted at Kim Kardashian once on there for some reason or another. I've stayed up all night with him after he had gruelling days at work, him offering to do the same for me if I had a bad case and couldn't sleep. And then, very recently, I watched him cry." You continued on. "Mycroft Holmes is one of the most emotional, caring people I've ever known, he is just incredibly particular at who gets to see it. You're a doctor, John. You know how experiences in life can shape one's emotional stability, how it alters their mental health. Had you grown up without very many people being kind to you, you'd be scared to let somebody else in too." You finished.
"Sorry.. I didn't mean it to come out in a bad way.. I just meant.. It's nice. Seeing Mycroft acting like that, it's.. nice." He apologised. You waved it off. You knew John didn't mean any harm.
"Mycroft and I are old news anyway.. What about you and Sherlock? When did that surface?" You asked, beaming at the deep red John's face had become as he choked on a sip of his drink. "Oh come on, don't act like that. We've all been waiting for this one to happen since you moved in."
"I.. I don't know what you-" Glaring at him, he stopped himself. "Yeah fine, okay. When we got back to the flat that night we went into the front room and Sherlock lost it. I'd never seen him anything like it before, he just.. he just sobbed into a heap on the floor." He explained, the nervous tapping of his fingers against his glass trying to distract him from his eyes watering. "I didn't know what else to do, so I scooped him up and put him in his bed. He begged me to stay with him and I did. Then he apologised to me, for dragging me in all of that mess, for almost getting me killed and he just wouldn't stop apologising.. So I stole the stereotypical movie move and kissed him. Just kind of went from there. I think that night made us realise that beating around the bush all these years wasn't helping either of us, and the thought that we could have lost the other only a few hours beforehand woke us up." He coughed, his voice breaking slightly.
"God look at us.. All the people in the world and we've landed with the Holmes'" You grabbed John's hand from across the table and laughed. "Makes you feel quite special though, doesn't it? That, equally, there were all the people in the world and they chose us?" John grinned, giving your hand a squeeze.
"Could never tell them that though, their egos would go through the bloody roof."
***
"They're talking about us." Sherlock mused, breathing in the London air.
"It seems people do little else." Mycroft returned, casting his glance to you smiling with John at the table.
"She really does like you. I've spent years deducing everything about her to make sure she wasn't a secret Russian spy sent with the motive to kill you." The younger spoke playfully. "You could have eaten the cake."
"Hmm?"
"The cake. I know you wanted it, but you're going back to how you used to be. Now that you're together, you're nervous." Sherlock's voice was nonchalant, simple observations, which didn't ease his older brother at all. "It's pointless. She's entirely infatuated. I thought the childish doe eyes disappeared after being attracted to somebody for a few weeks, but she still looks at you like I look at a triple homicide."
"Resulting to similes now?"
"You need to stop that too. Dismissing it whenever somebody is trying to be... kind... to you. That's just annoying and not a good defence mechanism for insecurities, like a mask made of clingfilm, it's too obvious." Mycroft didn't speak in turn and Sherlock huffed. "She worries for you, she seeks for you to be comfortable in trialling situations, her eyes do that little light up thing every time you open your bloody mouth. Since standing here she's looked over 3 times and smiled to herself seeing you stand here with me without us arguing. I caught her 4 times on the way to the cab from the flat looking at your arse and your legs in that damned suit. You don't have to worry about anything with her- the way she looks at you is so lovesick it makes me queasy."
"And you know this how, Sherlock? Or is this another one of your cruel schemes to embarrass me?"
"Because, Mycroft, it's the same way you've looked at her for as long as I can remember you knowing her. Jesus, Mycroft, I haven't seen you smile this much since we were children.. before we did everything that led us to believe we were any better than anybody else, that we deserved more than sentiment. And it's the same way I.. the same way I look at him." Sherlock's eyes now locked onto John.
"Always did say there would be a happy announcement between the pair of you. Good to see I'm correct once again." Mycroft mused. He remained stoic, but his brother's words were whirring in his brain, leaving him in a state of shock at the curly haired man even displaying this form of kindness towards him.
"You told me once that caring isn't an advantage. But these last few days, no matter how short it has been, have already led me to believe that caring is perhaps the greatest advantage of them all. And I strongly believe you feel the same way, no matter what bull you make up to argue against it." The pair of them watched through the window once more, the image of you and John laughing at whatever joke had been shared between you. "We both have wasted many years fighting against this, and I don't want you to screw yours up. Y/N will remain by your side and feel the same way towards you, whether you wear a bin bag, lose your job, put on weight- she's in it for the long haul. She's spent so many years pining after you that she deserves the best from you and to be happy. And you, brother mine, have been through enough with not good people; you deserve the happiness too." Sherlock trailed the last sentence. It's incredibly rare for them to show it, but Sherlock and Mycroft would always have a particularly close bond, they've been through too much together not to- and so times like this were precious to them. Mycroft simply let out a small cough, reaching his arm over to rest on his younger brother's shoulder to give it a quick squeeze, before patting it twice and letting his arm rest back by his side.
"Sentiment appears to be dwelling well on you." Mycroft spoke, heading back to the door of the restaurant to head inside, holding it open for his brother.
"As it is on you, brother. As it is on you."

Dusk Till Dawn - Part 7
Peter Parker x Reader
Summary: Peter and your friends realize that you’re in trouble, meanwhile Tony seeks advice from the other Avengers
Warnings: angst, injured characters, angry!Y/N
A/N: @annies-marvel-imagines will no longer be posting more parts, but she will still receive credit.
Tumblr media
Tony paces around his lab, clearly thinking hard. Lately, that was where he spent most of his time. Currently, He was working on an upgrade for your suit. Usually, he'd have finished the upgrade weeks ago, but for some reason, it is never good enough, and he inevitably ends up scrapping it and starting over.
"Tony, you've been working for hours," Pepper says as she steps into the room. "Vision ordered pizza."
"I'm not hungry," he mumbles without looking up. This time, he was sure that he'd be able to finish the upgrade. Then, he'd be able to move on to upgrading Peter's suit, then his own.
"You've been saying that a lot lately." Pepper sighs as she walks up to him and places a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Does this have anything to do with Y/N?"
"You mean my daughter who hates me?" He mutters under his breath, but she heard it nonetheless.
"She doesn't hate you. She's just going through a tough time." Pepper was a teenager once, and she'd had times where her relationship with her parents wasn't perfect, despite them wanting the best for her. All she needed was time, and maybe you do too.
"Pep, she can barely look at me." In all his years of raising you, Tony had never thought that your relationship with him would ever become what it is now. "Did I do something wrong?"
Pepper didn't exactly know what to say to that. She didn't think that Tony did anything wrong, yet how could she make him see that?
"Come and eat. Maybe we can all talk about it downstairs," Pepper finally said as she leads Tony to where everyone else was waiting.
-----------------------
"Happy?"
Harley was currently poking Happy with a selfie stick he had found under someone's car in an attempt to wake him up. Unfortunately, it wasn't working, and Peter was starting to lose it.
"Dude, he's out cold," Harry groaned in annoyance that Harley actually thought that poking him could possibly wake him up. Harley rolled his eyes as he stood up, leaving the selfie stick next to Happy's motionless body.
Meanwhile, MJ was becoming fed up with Peter's constant pacing. She, and the rest of their friends, could clearly see that he was starting to lose his mind with worry, which was the least helpful thing at the moment.
"Sit down," MJ said to him in hopes that he'd calm down enough to think clearly. None of them could really be in the right state of mind while their superhuman friend was in panic mode.
"I can't-" He argued, and both Harry and Ned had to sit him down on a nearby bench. He seemed calmer, but not by much.
"Peter, just think for a second. Something isn't right," Ned exclaimed. It was pretty evident that something bigger was going on than just you going missing and Happy being knocked out.
"Yeah." Harley agrees, nodding his head while deep in thought, "Y/N goes missing, and Happy is out for the count."
"So someone took her?" Betty asks. Everyone was thinking it, but she was the first to say it aloud. It was scaring them how real this was starting to feel.
"Eloise," Peter huffed angrily. He should have known that she'd ruin everything, yet he allowed himself to let his guard down.
"Pete, Ellie didn't take Y/N," MJ sighed.
"Then who else could have?" He yelled. He was sick and tired of everyone seeing Eloise as an innocent misguided girl when in reality, she was the devil in disguise."I have told you guys since she moved here that she is bad news, but nobody listened! Now Y/N is gone, Happy is hurt, and I'm never going to see the love of my life again and-"
"Why would Eloise take Y/N?" Harley asked, not disagreeing with Peter though not wholly convinced. "What use would she have with her?"
"That's what I'm going to find out?"Peter stated as he stood up, his friends following close.
"You can't do that by yourself," MJ stated.
"I'll call Mr.Stark." ------------------------- "I dunno. It seems pretty clear that Y/N can't stand to be in the same room as him," Bucky stated bluntly, causing Steve to give him a light slap on the head.
"Buck," Steve scolded, but Bucky wasn't the only one who thought so.
"He has a point," Sam chimed in, although not wanting to be hit on the head like Bucky.
"Hey." Nat chastised. She's seen first-hand how much Tony cares about you. "It's pretty clear that Tony cares about Y/N. She is his daughter, after all."
"Does Y/N have a diary?" Rhodey asked, causing Pepper to glare at him.
"You're not going to read Y/N's diary," She states firmly. You deserve better than that. "That is a breach of privacy."
"So she has one?" Rhodey asks but quickly quiets down as soon as he sees the glare Pepper sends his way.
"Hey, it might give a reason for why she's so distant," Bucky mutters to the group, which provides mixed reactions. Few nod their heads in agreement, while few shake their head. Either way, they all have one thing in common, which is your best interests at heart.
"It might also give her a reason to distance herself even more. We want to gain her trust, not break it," Pepper argues sternly. She looks at Tony for backup, but one look at him tells that he is desperate for things to go back to the way they were.
"I'm gonna look," He finally says while getting up. Pepper gives him an incredulous look, so he continues, "Guys, this has gone too far. Whatever is wrong with Y/n has put her in danger. If Peter hadn't sensed that something was wrong, Y/N could be dead right now. I'm going to look."
For the past two weeks, he couldn't stop thinking about what could've happened at the bank. You could have died if Peter hadn't shown up. He was worried beyond belief that you'd not only die but die hating him.
"We all care about Y/N," Steve said, bringing some relief to Tony that at least someone was on his side. "She's a good kid, and as much as I disagree with invading her privacy, I do care about her safety. I think that any information could help. We need to get to the bottom of this."
Sighing, Pepper realized that maybe Tony and Steve were right. Something was going on with you, and she worried that it might get worse if something wasn't done soon.
"Well, I think it has something to do with that friend Y/N has been hanging out with," Bruce notes, causing everyone else to mumble words of agreement. Y/N hadn't started acting out until that troublemaker showed up.
"Agreed," Wanda said. "Nothing but trouble."
Everybody hesitantly makes their way into your room, and Nat's eyes immediately land on two flash drives, a red and a blue one,  next to your computer.
"Maybe these could be something?" She says, plugging the red flash drive into your computer. Suddenly, everything made sense. The flash drive was full of files about you that belonged to Hydra. It had almost everything to know about you, but the most concerning one shocked everyone.
"She knows I'm not her real dad," Tony sighs. Everybody, except for Pepper, seemed to be speechless. None of them woke up in the morning knowing that they'd find out that you weren't really Tony's daughter, much less discover that you had HYDRA files on your computer.
"What do you mean you're not her real dad?" Bucky asks, just as confused as everyone else.
"And you never thought to tell Y/N yourself?" Steve interjects sternly. This was something you had a right to know. Obviously, you'd get upset from finding out from someone else."Do you know who her real parents are?"
"That's not important," Tony snaps, causing Steve's blood pressure to rise. It seemed important enough to you for you to start shutting everyone out.  It's no wonder you couldn't trust anyone.
"It sounds like it is," He says coldly.
Before Tony could argue further, his phone started ringing. Judging from the ringtone, he could tell it was Peter, so he answered it quickly.
"What-?" Tony's exasperated voice was cut off by Peter's panicked rambling.
"Mr.Stark, Y/N's gone, and Happy is unconscious in the parking lot."
Everybody froze as soon as they realized what Peter was saying. Something had happened to you, and that was more important than finding out that Tony wasn't your biological dad.
"What?! What happened?"
"I don't know! She said she was going to the bathroom, and she never came back, and now Happy is lying unconscious in the middle of the parking lot, and I don't know what to do!"'
By now, everyone was panicking. This was definitely a million times worse than the bank incident because nobody knows where you are, who you're with, or what you're doing.
"Okay, just stay there. Someone will come to get you."
---------------
"Are you going to tell me what the emergency is?" You ask Ellie as she drives you towards the city. You didn't need super senses like Peter to know that this was beyond suspicious. It wasn't sitting well with you at all.
"Your dad is hurt," she muttered, but you heard her nonetheless.
"My dad?" Worry began to flow through you until you remembered that Ellie had no way to know something like that.  "How? He was at the compound-"
"Your real dad," she agitatedly reminded you as she rolled her eyes. It made your blood boil how rude she was being. This wasn't like her at all, and you couldn't help but want to get as far away as possible.
The rest of the car ride was silent until you arrived at Ezekiel's apartment. It didn't look any better than when you were last there. In fact, it looked more run-down than it was before.
The moment Ellie pulled out a key to unlock the apartment, your suspicion grew tenfold. Why would she have access to his apartment?
"What happened?" You sighed as you both entered the apartment to find Ezekiel sitting on the recliner with a bloodied rag pressed to his side. It looked like he had the injury, but the pain didn't seem as apparent as it should. Your "dad" wasn't any better than she was, but that didn't mean that you let him get hurt. Still, he gave you the same weird vibes that Ellie did.
"Tony Stark happened," he barked. He suddenly stood up and began going through his drawers and sloppily throwing. "We need to get somewhere safe."
"Not until one of you tells me what the hell is going on," You say. Things were going so well until Ellie showed up. Now you have a headache and a possibly massive problem in the form of two suspicious individuals.
"Stark found out that you've been meeting with me," he explained, but you weren't buying it. The only people who knew were You, him, and Ellie. You even made sure that you weren't being followed.
"How?" You ask, crossing your arms, waiting for a good enough response.
"I don't know, but he showed up at my apartment and beat the living hell out of me," He retorted, his face scrunching up in anger.
You look at Ellie, who is standing by the door. To anyone else, it seems like she's just standing there, but you've had enough training from Nat and Bucky to know when someone is blocking an exit.
"I don't believe this." You mutter to yourself.
"You think I just happened to end up like this?" Ezekiel yells. You couldn't believe that you were stupid enough to fall for this. Their constant push for you to turn your back on your family was a huge red flag that you ignored. Not to mention you haven't forgotten that time that Ezekiel forgot your mom's name.
"What do you need my help with?" You ask, realizing that the only way out of this is to play along.
"I need you to help me destroy the Avengers."

So I Just Finished Skam...
First of all, I loved it. It was an incredible show and I'm so glad that there are so many remakes because I enjoyed it so much. One of my favorite things about the show was the fact that it feels extremely realistic, and I think a lot of that is due to the fact that a majority of the actors were actual teenagers (rather than actors who are obviously in their mid 20s and playing characters who are 16) and the fact that the characters behaved like actual teenagers (like using Facebook and Instagram, using "bad" language, dancing and singing along to music, etc. etc.). The other thing I adored about this show was the amount of importance that was placed on friendship. Platonic relationships in fiction are normally vastly underrated or underdeveloped in favor of romantic ones, so I appreciated that Skam showed so many friendships. So I decided to make a list of my favorite friendship moments from each season (two moments per season, with honorable mentions at the end before moving on).
Season 1:
1) Noora cheering up Eva by singing Justin Bieber to her:
I am not a fan of Justin Bieber at all (if you like him, all the more power to you, but I personally can't stand him), but Noora singing to Eva was such a great moment. She knew how sad Eva was, and decided to cheer her up by sharing something that made her (Noora) happy, and it was a really sweet moment between friends. It was also something that is realistic to do when someone you care about is down, and even though it was a small scene, it showed how strong a friendship Noora and Eva have.
2) All of the bonding moments between Sana, Vilde, Eva, Noora, and Chris:
I know this is a vague one, but just the sheer amount of time the girls spend together, whether they are doing something important or just hanging out was really awesome to see. Most of the time, tv shows don't take time to show us little moments like characters talking about boys or just sitting hanging out unless it has a more dramatc purpose. With Skam, we got to see those moments, which made the friendship between the girls that much more realistic.
Honorable Mentions for Season 1:
Eva grabbing the wrong Chris for Vilde, leading both Chris and Penetrator Chris (love that nearly everyone calls him that in the show by the way) to share a huge hug and go "name twins!" because that's totally something I'd do if I met someone who shared my name.
Eva and Ingrid finally talking about everything that happened, giving them both closure and the ability to move on, even if their friendship would never be the same (this was such a great scene because it showed Eva apologizing and telling Ingrid that she couldn't change what she did, but she would if she could, and it also allowed Ingrid to be hurt by what happened with Jonas, because let's face it, Ingrid was the injured party in that particular situation).
Season 2:
1) Noora telling Vilde all of the important things that the ingredients for tortilla do for you, and Vilde later doing the same for Noora:
I love how all of the girls take care of one another, but this scene in particular I loved a lot. Noora has noticed that Vilde hasn't been eating, and after hearing Vilde tell her all the reasons she doesn't like potatoes, Noora tells Vilde all the reasons she should. Noora also does so in a way that isn't shaming Vilde or being condescending to her, rather, Noora brings it up in a casual conversation. Later, Vilde notices Noora not eating, and prepares tortilla for her, quoting what Noora told her about potatoes and eating it with her. I loved this scene because it showed how much Noora and Vilde understood one another, as well as the importance of support.
2) The amount of support given to Noora by the girls after she discloses what happened with Nico:
This one is a total no-brainer. Noora had no idea what had happened that night, and had very little to go off of, and she spent the next few episodes terrified. When she tells the girls what she thinks might have happened, they all immediately stop what they're doing and rally around her. The no-dialogue scene in which they take Noora to the doctor and hold her and keep her safe was incredibly touching, and to be honest, nearly made me tear up.
Honorable Mentions for Season 2:
Sana and Chris playing a joke on the girls at the cabin during their break, because that whole episode was hilarious, and the individual ways each girl reacted was totally in character for each of them.
All of the girls telling Noora that they knew about her and William, because it was the most obvious thing in the world, and Noora being sheepish and surprised that she hadn't been hiding it as well as she thought.
Season 3:
1) Jonas, Magnus, and Mahdi telling Isak what to text Even:
This scene was so funny, and not the type I usually get to see when it comes to male friendships. I love that Isak tells them that he has no idea how to reply to Even, and Jonas tells him what he should say, with Magnus and Mahdi inserting their opinions and talking about how they text girls. It was enjoyable to watch because too many times fiction shows us that boys don't have the same relationship confusion that girls do, and it's often not true. I like that this scene allowed the boys to just be boys, because everybody deals with uncertainty, especially when it comes to liking someone.
2) Linn and Even playing video games together:
I know this scene is literally like two seconds and that we only see them ending from Isak's perspective, but hear me out. I'm pretty sure this is the first scene we see that shows Linn actively smiling and looking happy. Also, Even had just come off of a manic episode, was feeling depressed, and when we see him playing video games with Linn, he too looks actually happy, which is always great to see. Plus, the way Linn and Even are interacting with one another, it looks like they've known each other forever rather than two people who have just met, and even though it was a fraction of a scene, it was super great to watch.
Honorable Mentions for Season 3:
The entire development of Sana and Isak's friendship (I almost broke my "only two friendship moments" per season rule for this, but I decided to stick to my guns). Isak and Sana have a great friendship and I love how it came out of nowhere. Their friendship is literally started by being partnered together for school, which only happened because Sana sat by Isak to tell him that she had the weed he hid (a beautiful start to a beautiful friendship).
Isak coming out to Jonas by telling him that he liked someone and giving him the hint that it wasn't a girl, and Jonas reacting by thinking about the hint for a minute and then going "it's not me...is it?" because the expression Jonas had on his face while he thought about who it could be was funny because it looked like the fact that Isak had just come out to him wasn't even on his radar, because he was more concerned about guessing right, and the fact that he guessed himself was humorous to me.
Season 4:
1) Chris being a total ride-or-die friend to Sana after the stuff regarding the hate accounts for Sara and Vilde came out:
Everybody needs a friend like Chris. She is without a doubt one of the most loyal tv show characters I've seen and I wish Skam had run for more seasons so we could get a Chris season (and a Vilde season and an Even season, and a spin-off for Eskild and Linn, who both totally deserve one). Chris is the first person Sana told about the Sara account, and the first thing she did was tell Sana that the hate would blow over if Eva found out the truth (because Eva and everybody else thought Isak was responsible for it, and Eva was pissed AF at him). Chris also made sure that Sana knew that she didn't hate her for what happened, because everybody screwed up (seriously, we all need a friend like Chris).
2) The girls showing up to the bus meeting in their own tiny bus named "Los Losers" for Sana, effectively showing all of the Pepsi-Max girls (like Penetrator Chris, that will forever be their name) that if you mess with one of them, you mess with all of them. Sana was terrified that the girls would never forgive her, and when they all show up in the bus screaming her name, the joy on Sana's face is practically tangible. I love that they all pull Sana into the bus and give the Pepsi-Max girls the finger as they drive off, because really, what better way to show the true bonds of friendship than by collectively flipping off a ton of girls who messed with one of their own.
Honorable Mentions for Season 4:
Sana and Even's friendship, and the fact that she protected and respected his privacy when Isak asked her why she never said that she already knew Even, because too many times do I see characters give away information to other people that isn't theirs to give, and the fact that it didn't matter to Sana that Isak and Even were together, she was still going to make sure that Even had a right to the details of his personal life was extremely important.
The conversation between Sana and Jamilla about their schooling and Islam, because the texts we see between them prior to their falling out show that they were very close, and it was nice to see them talk and reconcile, because that's how life works sometimes. You fight and fall out with people, and after time passes, sometimes there is reconciliation.

Thanks fo’ saving my ass tonight
I got so much going on with uni, but I couldn’t resist. If you too are queen/king of procrastinating uni work, you have my deepest support! Hope you enjoyed x
TW: none (except fool language)
Part 2    -    Part 3*
Tumblr media
Office parties have never been y/n’s cup of tea, the idea of enjoying yourself in the very place people usually count down the hours before they can leave, is rather ludicrous in her humble opinion. Alas as the boss’ personal assistant, she not only had to plan and organize the whole shebang but her presence was also required, supervision purposes and all that. The only solace sweetening the deal for her was that she’d be in charge of the catering too, and y/n learnt very early on that good food and greater booze could make any boring work function at least tolerable.
Now that the festivities are in full swing, conversation flowing almost as heartily as the champagne in the guests’ eager mouths, y/n thinks she did quite well. The vast open space of the office is decorated with taste, the music set at the perfect level as to not overpower the boring chitchat bouncing off its walls, and to her greatest delight, the catering company she hired has truly outdone themselves. All in all, everybody seems to be having a grand time, and y/n decides that’s reason enough to officially relieve herself of her supervisor’s duties.
As she scans over the assortment of canapés, mini-quiches, crudités and other mouth-watering ambrosias, y/n fails to notice the tall figure casually approaching her. She’s in the midst of pondering whether she should try the humous or a cream cheese and salmon toast first, mouth salivating and stomach growling in appetite, when a raspy voice interrupts her inner battle, "I see m’not the only one who’s here just fo’ the food".
Her eyes pop off the delicious hors d’oeuvres to the sight gracing them next and she doesn’t know which is the most appetizing. Because standing a few feet from her is Harry, vibrant smile and pretty dimples on show, as he leans over the verrines platter to pick the best-looking one. He’s wearing an olympic blue floral suit on top of a scandalously unbuttoned transparent shirt, a bold number that would grant anyone else looks of surprise and confusion but looked absolutely divine on his broad frame. Besides, after two years working at the office, everyone had gotten used to his unconventional fashion choices by now.
Y/n quirks an eyebrow in curiosity as she dips a cucumber stick in a bowl of humous, before quipping, "not a big fan of these things?"
Harry lets out a small chuckle in a ‘no kidding’ way, and attaches his emerald eyes to hers, "they’re kind of a drag, if m’bein’ honest."
She smiles at his admission, realizing they both share an aversion for mundanities, "I know right. Like, why party here where everyone has to be on their best behavior when we could be down at the bar without the boss gallivanting around?" she cries out in exasperation and not for the first time, Harry thinks she’s quite possibly the most endearing thing he’s ever seen. His smile widens the tiniest bit at her passionate rant, "my thoughts exactly. Do we even know what we’re supposed to celebrate?" The question makes her laugh, she wouldn’t have known either if not for her involvement in the affair, "well as the person behind this all drag," she give him a pointed look at his jeering choice of word, "it would be weird if I didn’t."
Harry’s face falls at the possibility of having offended her, but his uneasiness quickly dissipates when she starts laughing at him. "M’sorry, that came out wrong," he tells her before letting out a giggle of his own and y/n revels in the moment. The idea of interacting with him beyond the usual ‘here’s the presentation for today’s conference’ or ‘do you have the quarterly report ready’ is rather intoxicating for her already feeble nerves. "Don’t worry, I take no offense, I’m just as bored as you are," she reassures him with a smile, "the party is for a new potential investor, something about wooing them with some ‘corporate fun’. S’a load of bullshit if you ask me".
Harry nods at the explanation unimpressed, his boss’ intentions being the least of his worries. Aside from being the classic douche every manager typically insists on being, the guy has always made his distaste about him pretty clear, so Harry would rather focus on more interesting things. Like how beautiful y/n looks right now, her hair tied up in a loose bun at the top of her head, leaving a few strands to fall around her face. "You look amazing, by the way," he brings himself to say, though he thinks his compliment doesn’t even do her justice.
Y/n looks down at her own outfit then: a knee-length red dress composed of a skater skirt and a backless top that only holds with a couple pressure buttons clasped behind her neck. Her cheeks warm up to match the color of her apparel, betraying the timidity she’s always fallen victim of whenever he happened to be in her vicinity. Y/n’s never been one to shy away from her feelings or trip over her own words when facing her crushes, but there is something about Harry that teleports her right back to her sheepish 13 year-old teenage self. Also, she’s not too keen on office romances and the drama that usually ensues so she’s always made sure to stifle her blossoming attraction and keep their relation work-appropriate. Surely that must account for most of her awkwardness, doesn’t it?
Her eyes trail back to his face and her response comes in a shy euphemism, "thank you, you clean up quite nicely yourself." It’s enough to quirk Harry’s lips in a bashful smile, their  complexion evidently on edge as they tread uncharted territories. Professionalism has always regimented their interactions with kind but polite rigidness, neither of them quite inclined to cross that invisible line, but tonight seems to challenge that.
Tonight, Harry is resolute in his infatuation, no longer inhibited from social construct but driven by a quest for knowledge; anything that will help him decipher her carefully shielded crux. Tonight, he endeavors to scrape the edges of her rough diamond to expose the gem encapsulated inside, peel back the stoic layers of her exterior to find her unapologetic and intrinsic nature. Tonight, he is thirsty for secrets and confidential disclosures, and he won’t leave until he’s drained it all out of her. Unless she tells him to fuck off, obviously.
Harry keeps the conversation going as he browns the buffet for a new delicacy to snack on, "so, what would you be doing if you didn’t have to be here?" He wants to know everything, the present and the past, the good and the bad, the superficial and the substance, the messy and the orderly, but he figures he should start by what she likes to do in her own time. The things that loosen her up after a tense week at work, the things that will make her eyes shine with passion as she relates them back to his curious mind.
The question reaches her ears as she takes a sip of her drink, "mmm," she smiles around her glass before placing it back on the table, "-that’s easy. Playing pool with the gang at Gibson’s." Her answer spills without hesitation, a heap of follow-up questions already brewing up in Harry’s brain, but the foreign name is what beckons his attention first, "Gibson’s?" he echoes with a faint rumple pulling the skin between his eyes. Is that the name of a friend? A boyfriend? Out of all the questions he’s contemplated, y/n’s relationship status never crossed his mind. He’s always assumed her to be a single woman, the evidence of a significant other never present in her language and demeanor.
A wave of relief washes over him at her elaboration, "it’s a bar couple blocks from my place. It’s been my friends and I’s HQ ever since we all met." The sentiment has her eyes sparkle at the remembrance of all the happy memories the place hosted, and Harry stores the information in his mental list of all y/n’s soft spots.
"Sounds rad, so you play pool?" he inquires with enthusiasm. He’s been knows to play a game or two in his youth, though it’s been a hot minute since he’s felt the weight of the cue in his hands as he sinks ball after ball in their respective pockets. He remembers the elation of it all, the adrenaline coursing through his veins at each successful strike, and his heart flutters at the thought of ever sharing a game with her; she seems like the competitive type in the most entertaining way possible. Before his thoughts can spiral into much filthier realms, like bending her over the table mid-game when his own skills prevail and she turns into a sore-loser, y/n’s voice rings him back to reality.
"Uh uh, correction," her expression suddenly turns in false seriousness before she proves him right about her competing tendencies, "I win at pool." Her eyes are so full of confidence, a spice of mischief sparkling in their corner, she would have no difficulty persuading anyone of anything that passes the threshold of her mouth. Harry certainly doesn’t doubt her mastery of the bar game, but it doesn’t stop him from challenging her in a slightly elevated pitch, "oh is that so?"
Y/n only grins at the banter, not at all fazed by his taunting remark, "maybe you’ll have to find out for yourself." She reaches for another snack, not taking her come-hither look off his handsome face, and Harry revels in her flirtatious advances, a smug smile taking possession of his lips as he surfs of the same wave of seduction. "Is that a challenge?" he philanders back, fueling the sensual back-and-forth they seem to have embarked upon.
"Not much of a challenge if I know I’ll win," y/n replies with cheek, her self-assurance once again burgeoning like sexy wildflowers sprouting from the ground underneath Harry’s feet, wrapping around his ankle and growing along his body to twine around his spellbound heart. He absolutely loves her unfaltering aplomb, finds it undoubtably sexy but he can’t let her know that just yet.
"Cocky."
"Confident."
They both chuckle at their repartee, enjoying this ping-pong of quick-witted banter they’ve never found in anybody else before. It’s like their intellects were meant to collide in galvanizing forces, the encounter of two fiery psychs too brilliant to one up the other.
Harry is mesmerized by their connection, if he knew sparks would fire this bright, he would have made a move ages ago. "Fuck, you’re something else," he shakes his head in incredulity before confessing, "definitely not what I expected."
Y/n’s chest tingles at his comment, a rivulet of liquid glee leaking through her arteries to pump her heart and her ego full of bliss, "Oh so you expected something, did you?" She punctuates her teasing with a thousand-watts power smirk, and Harry finds it strikingly alluring.
Not about to let her have the upper hand however, a burst of smugness crosses his features as he boomerangs her earlier allurement back to her, "maybe you’ll have to find out for yourself." It earns him a deep jazzy laugh rooted in her tummy and a tinge of pride swirling in his own. He wants to pry laugh after laugh from her belly until her last giggle, only relenting once the muscles in her chest are aching from unbridled joy.
Y/n sighs in content before taking a bite out of a mini-tartlet as she considers how to proceed in this much too flirty conversation. "So what would you be doing tonight, if not for this stupid party?" she returns his first question before realizing,  "-wait a sec, what are you doing here if you hate these things so much? My presence was mandatory but yours isn’t."
"I’ll have you know I was coerced into coming too," he quips back in a fake defensive tone, hand pressing to his chest, "Mike from accounting begged me to tag along, he just broke up with his girlfriend so I didn’t have the heart to tell him no." The selfishness of the gesture softens her heart in a goo of adoration, but she can’t let him know that just yet.
"Softie."
"Chivalrous."
His comeback has her giggle, a rejoinder already tiptoeing at the edge of her lips, "see, who’s cocky now?" Her eyes are full of jest and lightness, somehow taking the weight of the party off his shoulders. Turns out, food and booze are not the only remedies for boring work functions, y/n’s company is just as effective if not more, and that’s with the guarantee of a hangover-less comes next morning. Harry is truly happy he decided to make an appearance tonight, a sentiment he definitely didn’t foresee for the night. The realization has him faintly shaking his head in amazement, his lips letting out another whispered "something else" softly enough that it doesn’t quite reach her already inflated ears.
"So did you have any plans tonight?" She reiterates the question not wanting to ever stop talking with him.
There are probably a hundred exciting plans he could have conjured up to come off half as intriguing as she seems to be, but instead he decides to go the honest route, "nah, I would have probably crash on my couch, this week’s been pretty hectic." His truth is confirmed by the faded blackness tinting the skin below his eyes, a proof of hard work and long hours under the heedlessness of a greedy superior. Y/n knows it all too well, having had firsthand experience with her boss’ jackassery. That’s why she directly inquires, "boss giving you trouble?"
Part of Harry is eager to steer the conversation back to more pleasant waters but he guesses talking a little bit about work was inevitable at some point, especially since they both share palpable distaste for their superior. "The maniac keeps giving me last minute reports like I’m expected to work all night along on his bullshit projects," he explains dejectedly before running his hand through his luscious curls in sign of frustration. "Barely finished in time fo’ the party tonight, I had to slip in his office to put the file on his desk, that fucker had already left."
Y/n listens attentively, her chest tightening in empathy at the recollection of his misfortune. She’s very familiar with the embittering feeling that comes with working your ass for someone that barely registers your efforts and dishes the office hours before you can even dream of clocking off. She’s faced the same scenario time and time again, including tonight, when she’d come up to lock the boss’ office hours after he left to get pampered for the party. She barely got time to make the double commute to and from her place, much less spend hours getting dolled up. She does remember the odd file on her boss’ desk though, "oh I was wondering what that blue folder was about, he never usually leave unattended paperwork on his desk."
Harry starts nodding in confirmation before stopping dead, eyes widened in distress, "wait, did you just say blue?" he asks in urgency.
Y/n frowns at his sudden agitation, her mind reeling to try and visualize the state of the surroundings she left several hours ago. She’s pretty positive she saw a blue binder laying there, not that she knows the ramifications of that simple fact, "yes I think so, why?"
The dire nature of the situation becomes painfully obvious as Harry’s face turns into a mess of  dread and panic, "oh shit, oh fuck, no no no," the words keep tumbling from his mouth in a ramble of nerves. "So stupid, m’so fucked" he keeps muttering self-admonition in quiet anger, hands griping at the root of his hair.
Concern is starting to fester in y/n’s guts as she takes in his disheveled state, "Harry, Jesus, take a breath, tell me what’s going on," she steps closer to him, one hand softly holding at his biceps as she tries to connect their gazes.
Once his eyes plug into hers, pupils blown out in turmoil, he finally calms down enough to word  out his mishap, "s’not the right file on his desk, I only use red binders for the reports." Spinning around out of her hold to shout his stress back to the wall in a loud "fuck!", Harry’s mind is caught up in a swirl of possible excuses to give to his boss, all sounding more ridiculous than the other. He can’t think of way to fix his mistake and escape the inevitable berating coming his way comes morning.
Fortunately for him, y/n is not about to let this happen, "it’s okay, we’ll fix this," she encourages. "What’s on his desk right now?"
Harry looks back at her then, not totally convinced that this all mayhem is salvageable. His boss is never going to tolerate this minor negligence, especially once he finds out the irrelevant material mistakenly slipped amongst his work. "My 14 year-old niece’s english project" the answer comes out as a question, a hint of self-deprecating humor lacing through his words. "Bloody hell, he’s gon’ have my head fo’ that one."
Harry is adamant in his doom, but if anything, y/n is not a quitter. "No he’s not. He hasn’t seen it yet, right? You said he was already gone when you brought the file."
He takes a long breath, "I suppose not."
"Guess it’s a good thing I have the keys to his office then, yeah?" She smiles proudly as a beacon of hope shines on his conflicted face. The forest green of his eyes seems to breath back to life in an endearing revival, effectively tugging at y/n’s heart’s merciful strings.
"Fuck, you’d do that fo’ me?" his shoulders loosen up in relief, the tension slowly simmering down to a gentle buzz, as he envisages the possibility of an illicit break-in. Well, as illicit as it may be, considering they have the keys. Still, best they don’t get caught snooping in the boss’ office, for both of their sake.
"Of course, silly. No questions asked," y/n answers with a smile, and her willingness to put herself in potential trouble, warms Harry’s heart from inside out.
"Y/n, you’re an angel, a life savior," he grabs her shoulders in each of his hands, his gratitude painted all over his soft traits. "Fuck, I could kiss you right now." The words fly out of his mouth without him realizing their significance after spending the last ten minutes coming onto her. And well, y/n isn’t too opposed to the idea either, and she thinks she might hold him to that promise in retribution for her saving grace when the time and space works better in their favor. "Alright Casanova, let’s get your ass out of this mess," she grabs her purse form the table and takes his hand to guide him through the cluster of people milling around the office space, eventually reaching the row of elevators across the room.
As they stand waiting for their lift to come, Harry starts fidgeting with nervous energy, feeling like a kid who’s about to get caught trying to steal straight from the cookie jar. "Shit, alright, we have to be discrete if we want to pull this off," he tells her, not taking his eyes off the room in case someone would look at them and read their plan straight off their guilty-looking faces.
"Says the guy in the flashy suit," y/n immediately counters, in an attempt to revive the playfulness of their synergy. The night was going swimmingly before the whole ordeal, and she’s convinced this foxy little adventure can only add to the appeal of an evening full of surprises.
Harry’s indignation at her dig teeters from his pouty lips, "hey! It’s not that bad." She giggles at his poor rebuttal, and as the doors of the elevator open, they quickly take a few steps inside.
"Harry, that suit is so loud, it could break the sound barrier," y/n teases as she eyes the crowd of people frivolously chatting away, while waiting for the door to close back.
"Thought I cleaned up nicely," he cheekily throws back her words from earlier, letting them resonate within the small confines of the elevator as they make their way up to their boss’ office.
She turns to face him then, a smile spreading on her supple lips, "don’t get me wrong, you look wonderful, just nowhere near decent for a secret spy mission."
Her words have him beaming back at her in a second, his mind fixated on her compliment rather than how impractical it is that his clothes are flashier than the Queen’s; in his defense, neither are y/n’s. "Damn, just got upgraded from nice to wonderful, this night is actually turning around," he chirps as the door open to the deserted hallway of the top floor.
"Alright, more action and less flirting, Styles," y/n playfully chides him. "Go get the right file, while I open his door, we should be quick in case he decides to bring the tour and his special guest up here." She sends him off with a tilt of her chin in what she knows to be the direction of his office, and Harry complies with ease and starts backtracking a few doors down, "yes ma’am."
While he’s gone to fetch the correct document from his office, y/n rummages through her purse to find the key of her boss’ office and unlock the door. Once she’s inside, she makes her way around the imposing mahogany desk commanding the space, and finds the imposter file sitting innocently on the polished wood. For pure curiosity’s sake, she starts leafing through its contents and lets a small chuckle as she takes in the endearing work of a young aspiring writer.
Her reading is interrupted by Harry’s hurried strides when he joins her in the room. "Here’s the damn report," he flings the folder on the desk next to his niece’s, red clashing with blue, mocking him for his slight negligence. As he absorbs the sight of y/n’s face engrossed in the teenage’s fiction, he moves slowly behind her, getting a glimpse at his niece’s whimsical words over her shoulder, before his eyes settle on the bare skin of her back.
Y/n welcomes his sudden proximity, has stranding on end as she feels the soft puffs of his breaths against her neck. "Your niece is quite the writer, does she always come to you for advice?"
She ignores the shivers running down her spine, and gulps when Harry’s voice greets her ears in a deep quiet hoarse, closer than she excepted, "usually, yeah. I was the one who got her into writing, so it’s kinda become our thing, I guess."
She smiles at his softness, "that’s really sweet," and draws in a long breath in a vain attempt to calm her jitters. She can almost feel his presence on her skin though they’re technically not touching, her fingertips tingling in anticipation.
Another frisson travels through her when he responds with a low "mhm," his nose slightly grazing behind her ear, taking in her beguiling fragrance. Jasmine and vanilla, fresh and soft, exciting and comforting at the same time; it suits her perfectly.
"Harry-" she doesn’t know what to follow the whisper of his name with. Careful? Not here? Please don’t stop? At this point, she wants nothing more than to succumb to his affections, regardless of their improper whereabouts.
Harry brushes the back of his index down the smooth skin of her back in a featherlike caress, "thanks fo’ saving my ass, tonight," he murmurs into her ear, before laying a small kiss behind it.
Y/n is exulting under his tender ministrations, her eyes closed to enhance the feeling of his touch. "Anytime," she breathes out as her head tilts backward, a hand coming behind his neck in a silent plea not to let go, and Harry smiles against her skin at her receptiveness, goosebumps of his own blossoming across his body.
His next words are out of his mouth before he can think, "mmm, I owe you a big one," his playful persona resurfacing now that the situation was handled. They snort in unison at the double-entendre, and Harry slides his free arm around her waist to bring her closer to his chest in silent remittance. Y/n doesn’t mind though, she kinda likes this boyish side of him, but she can’t let him know that just yet.
"Gross."
"Hilarious."
Their ping-pong of wisecrack is back despite the tension permeating the air. It’s the kind that speeds heartbeats and moistens palms in lustful anticipation, the kind that curtails people’s breath as their lungs fill up with voluptuous aphrodisia. "Will you let me kiss you? Show you all my gratitude? I really wanna have a taste, love," he pleads for her permission, and y/n is too consumed by desire to deny him, "have it."
In one swift move, he spins around and latches his eager lips onto her. Passion ensues, hands roaming all over each other to find the perfect hold; the back of a neck, the lapels of a suit jacket, a few strands of hair, the curve of an exposed ribcage, it’s all intoxicating but there is always more to explore. Their tongues are caught up in a heated tango of their own, swirling around each other to quench the thirst of passion, licking their lustful way around their mouths.
At one point, Y/n finds herself pressed against her boss’ desk, one leg around Harry’s waist as he attaches his hips to hers in a heated embrace that leaves them breathless upon parting. He rests his forehead against her temple as they both process the intimate exchange, not ready to burst out of this fairy bubble. "Fuck, been waiting to do that for a while," he exhales with a smile, still incredulous at the evening’s proceedings, and the girl nestled in his arms.
"Same," she agrees and gently cups his face to bring his eyes back to hers, barely believing the adoration and warmth swimming within his lovely olive irises.
Harry’s heart feels like a ticking bomb about to implode, the sweet taste of her lips already providing him with a fix he didn’t know he was addicted to. "One more," he demands against her mouth before diving into another searing kiss. This time his hands explore more meticulously, scavenging for other soft spots to add on to his mental list. The dimples in her back right above the curve of her ass seem to rival the area at her side right below the swell of her breast, but Harry is pretty sure he’ll find more sensitive spots in the near future. Hopefully.
Once again, the need for oxygen compels them to part way, but neither of them make a move to separate their tangled limbs. Y/n is reveling in the moment she’s been daydreaming about for months, "so good," she keeps whispering sweet nothing against his lips while rubbing her nose against the bridge of his.
Harry clears his throat as he regains his bearings, realizing that there are still very much in the middle of their boss’ office, a place they are not supposed to be in, doing stuff they’re not supposed to be doing. At least not here. "Let’s get outta here, yeah?" he brushes a strand of hair that fell in front of her face, "you can kick my ass at that game of pool as promised, and I’ll tend to yours once we’re back at my place, what’dya say?"
And well, how can one say no to that?

gossip never ends
Mickey Milkovich simply just showed up one day at the Old Army, tattoos on his knuckles and a scowl on his face. Lola couldn't help but be intrigued -- nobody lasts here long enough to pique her interest, but there was something special about this guy. The gossip spreads like wildfire, but Mickey's something else altogether -- it's just a matter of time before Lola and her friends figured out why.
OR: How Mickey's coworkers found out about who Mickey really was back in season 10 -- this is more of an outlook on Mickey and his feelings throughout season 10 and how it reflected on his job and altogether his demeanor.
This is based on a prompt by @whatwouldmickeydo which was also even more explored by one of my favorite Gallavich accounts on Tumblr @ianandmickeygallavich -- so, I simply just worked through what they had already created. I hope they don't mind I used their prompt and this is dedicated to both of them! Enjoy!
words: 5.3k
The gossip began almost the exact moment Mickey was introduced to the three workers by the manager.
The Old Army staff was not a stranger to new workers coming and going, some people sticking around longer, working for a couple of months without stop, maybe even sticking around for a full-time position; some just passing through while on trial-basis, failing to meet the manager's demands and simply moving on to find better or more fitting employment -- but the sight of Mickey Milkovich was definitely not something, Lola thought, anybody, not just the curious employees, was used to.
Lola fell into the group of people who had been working at the store for ages now, starting years ago and still sticking around now, subsequently being present for all the biggest changes made to and within the popular store. She saw the interior change, the managers shift, the employees getting hired and fired -- she saw it all. It couldn't be said for many people. Honestly, only three members of the Old Army staff had actually been working full-time here, while everybody else was just a passing face.
She was so used to seeing new faces that it simply did not phase her anymore -- Lola had her own stable position in the store; she had her colleagues which she got along with, and she never paid much attention to the newbies once they came into the store. She knew it was almost always just for a short while, basically until they made a mistake while working and got politely declined for the position, so she usually just remained civil, not engaging in much mingling or bonding -- it wouldn't last anyway.
The staff change happened way too often, especially with security. The store management had no idea how to pick the right person for the job -- they either always chose the gangly, skinny types; the ones who couldn't defend others or themselves from a burglar if their life depended on it, or they chose the fatties who had a donut too many during their break and couldn't chase ten feet after the culprit.
Still, this guy -- this new, weirdly interesting guy -- seemed promising.
Lola had no idea where they managed to find him -- he was kinda hot, and definitely in really good shape with thighs and calves that could probably kill if they wanted to. He seemed crude and unapproachable, and the brooding, mysterious attitude definitely didn't quench anybody's curiosity as to where the hell he came from and how the hell they managed to find him of all the people in the world. A scowl was constantly etched on the newcomer's face -- not just when he was being introduced to the staff by the manager, as Lola thought would be the case -- but literally at every single given moment of the workday.
There were only rare moments Lola and the others saw him smile -- usually every single one of those moments being when he was texting someone during his break, or when he was coming back from having lunch with someone at the food court. Not that anyone would dare ask who, although they definitely speculated.
Mickey was the type of guy Lola was interested in making friends with. She approached him once during their shared shift -- usually, she wouldn't even bother, seeing how these guards come and go, but this one really piqued her interest -- trying to figure out who he was, where he came from, what he was doing here. Was he single? She needed to know for her lady friend considering how he was most definitely a sight for sore eyes.
It came as somewhat a surprise when he gave off clipped answers to her questions, most of them not even answering.
"Did you always work security?" She'd ask with a bright smile.
"You could say that."
Silence.
"How long are you planning on staying with us?" Trial-basis or undefined employment? Lola wondered silently.
"Until Larry finds me a better job."
Silence.
"Who?"
Silence. And then a quick, "Never mind."
Lola had officially given up on her efforts to befriend and find out more about the man once Mickey gave her a sharp, pointed stare after she pointed out he didn't have a ring on his finger, hoping he would reveal his relationship status to her.
She most certainly wasn't that lucky, and she almost shat her pants at the murderous expression on his face. She didn't ask again.
The others tried to pry information out of Mickey too, but they certainly lacked the subtlety Lola had. She honestly couldn't say she was the most discreet person in the world, but she was in the Old Army, considering how she found herself working with the two most non-discreet people in the world. Lola was upfront too -- let's not get that wrong.
But at least she didn't outright ask him if he was in a gang like Jeremy did.
"I wanted to know if the tattoos were gang symbols! They freaked me out!" The skinny twenty-year-old replied when the other workers gaped at him with wide eyes.
Jenna shook her head. "Dude, you can't just ask a guy if he was in a gang."
He wouldn't reveal his age, let alone his gang status if he had one, Lola scolded Jeremy mentally. The guy was as open as a seashell -- you could try and pry it open to see if it had a pearl inside, but you'll most likely fail and, to be honest, probably get pinched in the process, if not careful. It was perhaps best not to even try or, if you did, to proceed with extreme caution. A bunch of seashells didn't even have pearls in them anyway, so it'd all be useless in the end.
It only took a week for the staff to find out how Mickey managed to find himself here at Old Army out of all the possible places in the world. It was a shock, to say the least.
One morning, the revelation came when Larry Seaver showed up to the store, dressed in a nice suit and tie, wearing his casual, perky smile. He asked for the manager and had greeted Mickey immediately once he laid eyes on the man. Larry approached him as Jeremy went to get the manager, placing a firm hand on Mickey's shoulder, smiling widely at him.
Lola and Jenna weren't snooping, but they did manage to overhear Larry asking Mickey if he enjoyed working here; if everything was going well; if he was staying out of trouble -- a question that certainly didn't help stop the gossip -- and if he settled in home nicely.
Mickey responded to most of his questions with short, non-descriptive answers, but not with any malice or disdain. He answered them as if he had to, putting an emphasis on the "I'm not getting into any trouble, don't worry Mr. Cheery," making Lola wonder why the question even needed to be posed.
When the manager finally showed up, greeting the man happily, Larry followed him to his office, leaving the others to get back to the customers -- and some to get back to stopping crime. It was only when Larry Seaver left that Jenna shouted, "Oh my God, he's a parole officer!" at the other two workers while drinking coffee in the break room.
"He's a what?" Jeremy asked, slightly confused.
"A parole officer! I heard him talking to the manager about Mickey and how he's settling in. Mickey is a parolee!"
"Jesus Christ, I knew it! And you told me I shouldn't be scared." Jeremy answered with a sullen look, exaggerating a shudder.
Lola quirked an eyebrow at her friend. "Were you eavesdropping?" She was more amused than surprised if she was honest.
Jenna shook her head at Lola in exasperation. "So not the point. Lola, the guy went to prison!"
"We should all just quit now," Jeremy added.
"Come on, you big baby. The guy keeps to himself. You have literally nothing to be scared of." Lola was rolling her eyes at the man, slightly annoyed at the comments.
It didn't surprise her Mickey was here on parole -- it didn't surprise her he was in prison at all. He seemed like the type, not just because of his sullen look and crude knuckle tattoos. It also had a lot to do with the way he carried himself as if the entire world was against him and he needed to protect himself from the inevitable upcoming battle. It was probably why he never spoke to anybody, why he never had coffee with them, and why he seemed to avoid human contact at all possible times. It was also, now, very much obvious why he was so good at guarding the store -- it takes a criminal to catch a criminal, she guessed.
Honestly, it all just made him more interesting.
"I kind of think it's hot," Jenna admitted sheepishly.
Jeremy's eyes bulged out. "You're kidding me."
She shook her head, smiling like a teenage girl. "He's dark, brooding, mysterious. And he's got a really nice ass."
Lola laughed at her friend and at Jeremy's horrified expression. "You should go flirt with him. Maybe you'll be able to figure out if he's single or not." She was only partly joking. Jenna probably didn't need a repeat of what Lola had gone through.
She sighed sadly. "A guy like that is not single."
"Yeah, sure. An ex-con definitely isn't single and is probably in an extremely committed relationship with somebody who loves him for who he is. And that same ex-con guy totally loves somebody back with his whole, entire heart." Jeremy quipped sarcastically and Jenna pinched his bicep in response.
"Love is love, asshole. People murder for love."
Jeremy nodded in response. "Exactly. That's probably why he was in prison."
Jenna rolled her eyes. "You know what? Unlike Jeremy here, I'm not a pussy. I'm gonna go talk to him."
Lola's eyes widened in response and she smiled widely. If anyone would take the bullet for the team, it'd be Jenna. "You go, girl! Get him. Just make sure to be subtle about it"
Jeremy and Lola watched as Jenna went up to Mickey who was standing next to the Old Army store entrance, looking as bored and uninterested as ever. When he saw Jenna approaching, he grimaced, obviously preparing himself for the confrontation.
Jeremy and Lola locked eyes as Jenna began to audibly flirt with Mickey. They couldn't hear everything she was saying from where they were eavesdropping but they didn't hear Mickey even speak. Based on the disappointed look on Jenna's face when she walked into the break room again, they didn't think it went that well.
"So?" Lola inquired hopefully.
Jenna shook her head. "Completely uninterested. I even made my boobs look bigger in this shirt. Didn't work, obviously."
"What'd he say?" Lola probed deeper.
"Well, I asked where he lived, where he used to work, if he was settling in nicely -- and he just kind of hummed."
"Hummed?"
"He barely even answered the questions."
"Maybe he's gay and in a committed relationship with a dude," Jeremy added sarcastically, once again. "Maybe I should go up and flirt with him instead. See if it works for me."
Jenna rolled her eyes at Jeremy's sarcasm. "You're too big of a pussy to do it. Plus he's probably not gay."
Jeremy didn't rise to the bait. Instead, he just smiled. "Whatever you say, Jenny. Oh, by the way -- I totally am."
Mickey never spent his break with the others. In fact, he was either sitting outside the store, drinking Pinkberry and messing around with his phone, or he was at the food court, presumably meeting somebody for lunch. Lola was dying to know who, but she never dared to ask or to check, although it would have been so easy.
The curiosity extended out of the workplace as well -- Jenna, Lola, and Jeremy had a group chat. It was, at first, formed as a work chat, purely for announcements and work hours, but as time passed -- and as the employees and employers changed -- it evolved into something much more. Now, it was their main gossiping media.
 --- old army besties ---
LOLA (9:56 PM): I can't find him anywhere on social media.

JENNA (10:11 PM): Jeremy, stfu
*JEREMY has left the chat*
LOLA (10:12 PM): You wanna add him back in or should I?
JENNA (10:12 PM): Neither.
JENNA (10:12 PM): Let him suffer.
The gossiping continued for a while. It didn't honestly seem like it would stop at all, and nobody really seemed inclined to put an end to the wildfire gossip that spread through the entire Old Army staff. Not that anyone cared much, either, if they were being completely honest.
One day, though, the Mickey who was always grumpy and never without a scowl seemed particularly furious.
He spoke to no one, he didn't check his phone at all, which was a rare occurrence and almost never happened -- he was usually glued to the thing, always texting someone -- and he basically looked like he was ready to kill the next person who dared steal something from the store.
"Anyone wanna ask what crawled up his ass and died?" Jenna asked lowly, observing Mickey from where she and Lola stood behind the cash register. Jeremy hung around in the back, angry that they still hadn't added him back to the group chat.
Lola simply grimaced. "I guess we've been dealing with happy Mickey all this time."
Jeremy pretended not to pay much attention to them, very much bitter. He just muttered, as a side note, loud enough to get even Mickey's attention, "Yo, I guess they found who killed that parole officer."
That piqued Lola's interest. The murder was all over the news the day before -- a parole officer named Paula had been thrown out the window -- and Lola didn't expect them to have found the killer so soon.
"Already?" She wondered, out loud.
"Who is it?" Jenna asked.
"Some ex of hers -- Shelly, I think. They arrested her yesterday."
Lola released a sigh. "That's some good news. Now she can't hurt anybody else." She mentally applauded the police for the good and quick work.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Mickey was listening in to their conversation. She could have sworn she heard him snort when she muttered the last part, the one about it being good news. She saw an opening, and when Lola began to open her mouth and try and include him in the conversation, he had already turned around and left to stand back at his regular spot, expression sullen, pretending as if he never even cared to listen in after all.
Mickey was gone all of a sudden one day -- as the manager had told them briefly, on paid leave. He didn't reveal why or when he'd be coming back, only saying how Mickey had something important come up, and that he'd eventually be back. He didn't seem to be aggravated while talking about Mickey, so Lola guessed he didn't get fired, nor that he was being tested again for his position -- he had honestly been doing great. Better than the ones before him, at least.
Lola was actually somewhat shocked. She was also slightly disappointed he didn't tell her.
Mickey had actually started opening up a little -- not much (when she said little she meant very little) -- but he was finally communicating with them during their shift together, something he most certainly hadn't even tried to do, no matter how hard they tried to push. He also seemed happier, coming in one morning looking the happiest Lola had ever seen him.
It was the first day Mickey made actual conversation with her -- about the ugly clothes in the store, nevertheless -- and she genuinely was starting to like him.
"Maybe he likes you," Jenna told her after noticing them talking.
Lola blushed. "Probably not."
Jeremy snorted and both women turned towards him. "He's probably more attracted to me than you." He muttered absentmindedly while scrolling through his phone.
"Still sticking to the gay theory?" Jenna asked pointedly.
"I may not be dark, brooding, and mysterious, but my gaydar is on point. At first, I was skeptical, but he rocks that pink pastel shirt a little too well." He said, a small smile playing on his lips.
Jenna and Lola shared a look before both rolling their eyes.
"Let's hope he asks you out." Jenna finished and Lola blushed even more. Stupid crush. Jeremy snorted.
She was a little disappointed he was gone but his step-in was a cute guy and the gossip between her, Jeremy, and Jenna was endless -- Jenna and Lola came up with different theories as to where he was which all ranged from family emergencies to crazy prison breaks -- Jeremy would simply roll their eyes at them whenever a new theory came up.
When Mickey came back a couple of days later, it seemed as if he had a spring in his step. For the first time in all the time Lola had known him, instead of a scowl, there was a smile present on his face.
"Holy shit, he's smiling." Jenna pointed out incredulously, and Lola simply nodded shell-shocked. He had a beautiful smile.
It was even weirder when he greeted them when he walked into the store, uttering a simple, "Hey" which neither woman expected.
"So, that's happy Mickey," Lola said under her breath. "Good to know."
The sudden chirpiness didn't disappear throughout his entire shift and Lola began to wonder what type of vacation he had gone on to be this happy. She needed to ask him -- if it could take the stick out of his ass, then it could definitely make her feel like she was in heaven.
The answer came shortly after.
"He's got a ring on his finger."
"What?" Lola and Jenna exclaimed simultaneously, looking at Jeremy like he was crazy.
"The hell are you talking about?" Jenna asked, glancing between Jeremy and Mickey, inconspicuously trying to catch a glimpse of Mickey's hand.
"He's married, guys. He probably got married while he was away. There is a golden band on his ring finger."
Lola and Jenna were surprised they missed it. The ring shone brightly on his left hand, reflecting the shitty lighting of the Old Army store. It looked beautiful and, somehow, it made him look complete. She didn't even realize something was missing until it was there, staring straight at them. That's what the wedding ring seemed like -- a piece of Mickey they were all simply missing. Something that let them know that there was somebody in his life, a single person, who had his heart -- a person who managed to pry open the shell and find the pearl. Perhaps the process was painless; perhaps it wasn't -- Lola supposed there were only two people in the universe who truly knew the answer to that question.
"Well, I didn't see that coming."
Lola chuckled, letting the genuine happiness she felt for him consume her. "Me either."
The next time she passed him, she smiled at the ring widely. "Congratulations! I see the ring." She pointed at his hand.
Mickey smiled softly, gazing at it with a look in his eye Lola could only describe as love. "Yeah, thanks."He seemed a little uncomfortable, so Lola refrained from asking about his wife, and if he had any pictures to show her. She was learning new things about this man every day. The woman who tied him down must have been patient, but also extremely lucky.
"Ugh, I wish he was single," Jenna muttered again later on in the day, gazing longingly at Mickey's ass. "That butt makes the whole ex-con, escaping prison thing worth it."
Lola laughed at her friend, agreeing silently.
It was nearing the end of their shift, and the four people had changed out of their uniforms, getting rid of the ugly pastel pink color, exchanging it with something that was actually fashionable -- Mickey had an especially good fashion sense, in Lola's opinion (he could rock ripped jeans). Mickey had still been in the staff changing room when Lola noticed a guy hanging around the store. A tall, extremely hot redheaded guy, with one of the best bodies she'd seen on a man in a while.
She shook Jenna's arm so she could point out the guy to her, aware that Jenna deserved to gaze at a man this good-looking. He was wearing a tight-fitting black shirt along with skinny jeans that accentuated all of his muscles, from the ones in his arms to his leg ones -- he was ripped, and Lola could only assume there were chiseled abs hiding underneath the shirt. He was drop-dead gorgeous.
Jenna turned around to see what the fuss was about, but her mouth fell open when her eyes landed in the ginger.
"Oh my God, I think just came."
"Me too," Lola admitted. She was genuinely concerned for her wellbeing. "I think we need to get laid."
"Definitely." Jenna's eyes were glued to the man. His hair was perfect too -- slicked back, and just... it was a sort of, ' you simply had to see it to believe it' type of situation. He was beautiful. "Man, how the fuck does God create these men?"
Jenna didn't tear her eyes away. "He must be either really bad in bed or a total douchebag. There's no way he's that hot and nice too."
They suddenly heard Mickey's voice behind them. "Trust me, he's neither."
Lola and Jenna jumped in surprise, but she didn't even have a moment to think about what Mickey said. She was still looking at the ginger, but his green eyes were locked on somebody else though, and he didn't even seem to notice the two women gaping openly at him.
When Lola turned to follow his gaze she was surprised to see it land on Mickey.
"Oh my dear Lord, he's totally eye-fucking Mickey!" She whisper-shouted at Jenna, Mickey being far away not to hear her. Jenna whipped her head around towards where Mickey stood, seemingly unaware.
"Oh my God, he totally is!"
Mickey noticed them staring. He raised an eyebrow at the two women and then as if on a whim, approached them. "You need anything?" He asked, seemingly uncomfortable, but he still paid no attention to the fact a guy was blatantly letting it show on his face that he was imagining all of the things he could probably be doing to Mickey, right now. The redhead had the biggest case of bed-eyes she'd seen in a while.
Lola blinked herself out of her daze. "Um, no. Uh, we just-- we, uh--" She was at a loss for words and Jenna didn't seem to even think about helping.
"Ugh, God." They suddenly heard Jeremy exclaim. All eyes turned to him. "There's a really hot guy outside the store, and he's staring at you." He made a gesture as if saying, 'See, that wasn't so hard now, was it?'. "That's what they're trying to say."
Mickey turned to look forward outside and when his gaze fell on the guy -- the guy he had most certainly already noticed -- his face lit up even more, and his lip curled into a smirk. He turned towards Jeremy and nodded at him. "Glad to see you toughening up."
Jeremy smiled at Mickey as if they were sharing an inside joke, and both Lola and Jenna had no idea what it was. They shared a disbelieving look. "Learned from the best, man," Jeremy replied as they fist-bumped and Lola knew her and Jenna's eyes had to be unnaturally wide.
"So um, so you know the guy outside? He's totally checking you out." Jenna nodded at the hot guy who was still watching them -- watching Mickey, specifically. Lola guessed he was waiting for him, for whatever reason. She guessed hot guys stuck together. If he wasn't a ginger, Lola would have assumed they were brothers and that the good looks simply ran in the gene pool. Lola watched as Mickey locked eyes with the man and smiled. The guy raised his eyebrows in question and Mickey just kept the grin on his face.
"That's Ian, my husband."
Shock couldn't even begin to describe what Lola was currently feeling. If somebody had dumped a bucket of ice-cold water down her back, she would have probably been less surprised. As she was contemplating everything she knew and had been learning about Mickey, the man in question waved towards Ian to join them. Ian made his way inside and Lola could lie and say she didn't swoon.
"Hi." He greeted sheepishly with a smile, previously observing the commotion.
Mickey seemed unnaturally relaxed as he stood close to Ian, wrapping a hand behind his back subconsciously. Lola wondered who the man in front of her was -- it most certainly wasn't the grump Lola had been working with all this time.
"Ian, meet Lola, Jenna, and Jeremy."
Ian smiled politely at all three of them, leaving Lola in a daze -- God, he was gorgeous. She was just about to reply when he nodded at Jeremy specifically. "Sup, Jeremy. Heard a lot about you."
Jeremy smiled back at Ian. "Same, dude. Your husband just can't seem to shut up about you."
Ian smirked, and then turned to look at Mickey, "Is that so?"
Mickey rolled his eyes. "Fuck you both. I got married. What am I supposed to do? Just shut up about it? Hell no."
Ian laughed and draped an arm around Mickey's shoulder. "Don't worry, baby. I don't mind."
Ian and Mickey shared a quick look, and Lola wondered if she would ever find a person who would look at her the way these two men looked at each other. She suddenly felt bad for thinking Mickey was straight -- everything about this simple interaction screamed gay.
"We should head home, I know you've been waiting for ages outside."
Ian nodded. "Yeah okay, let's go." He then smiled at the three people in front of them widely. "It was nice meeting you guys."
Jeremy was the only one capable of responding. "You too."
"See ya'," Mickey muttered lamely as a goodbye and the couple was out of the store in the blink of an eye, arms wrapped around each other, talking quietly, their expressions pure happiness.
Lola and Jenna turned around to stare at their friend.
"What the fuck was that?" Lola asked, incredulous.
The traitor in front of them shrugged. "What? While you guys were coming up with conspiracies and weird theories, I actually talked to the guy. He's pretty cool. He was raised and lives on the Southside where he met Ian. He first spent some time in juvie. Got shot twice. Went to prison, escaped from prison, went to Mexico, worked for a cartel, rolled on said cartel be with Ian. They were in prison together and they decided to get married when they got out. He's actually been giving me tips to boost my street cred. We've been working on that shit for some time now."
Lola shook her head in thought. "When did you guys become so close?"
Jeremy snorted. "When you decided not 5o add me back to the group chat, bitches." He smirked. "Revenge is a dish best served cold." As an afterthought, he added, "I'm not dark and brooding, but I guess I can add mysterious to my list of charms."
Lola and Jenna watched him as he turned around.
"Is it just me or did he suddenly get hot?"
Lola sighed loudly. "I think we've been tricked."
Jenna groaned, suddenly. "I can't believe it. Two men that hot -- and they end up with each other. Like, what the fuck? Why can't there be one for me?"
Lola laughed, but, as always, silently agreed.
Everybody lost their jobs when the pandemic hit, and when the Old Army finally went back into business, Mickey Milkovich wasn't there. The gossip moved on to different topics and different employees -- the hot security guard was nothing but a distant memory.
The next time Lola saw them was years later. She was much older, much more experienced, and much more in love. She had met somebody, had fallen deep, and it had changed her life for the better.
Love was an interesting thing.
Mickey was standing at the corner of a street. The sun was shining brightly above him, and Lola realized he still looked as beautiful as ever -- his face was much more relaxed though as if the walls he had spent years putting up were suddenly all down, letting his pearl shine through, and glint in the sun. He was waiting for somebody outside of a store, and somehow, Lola knew it was his husband.
She couldn't remember his name, but she could never forget the look.
So many years had passed, and Lola had gone through so many relationships -- but the look was what always had her looking for more, never settling for anything short of what she knew she could have. What they showed her she could have.
Once she found someone who looked at her the way Ian -- Lola would only remember his name sometime later in the day -- looked at Mickey, and somebody she would look at the way Mickey looked at Ian -- that was when she'd know she had found the one.
Ian exited the store, much to Lola's expectation, his red hair, slightly grown out, fiery red in the Sun. The boy holding his hand was smiling widely, and the smile only grew once he saw Mickey.
The boy dropped Ian's hand and ran towards -- Lola simply knew -- his father, jumping into his arms. Mickey picked the small boy up effortlessly -- he was no older than five -- laughing along with him as the boy dove into, what Lola presumed, a story.
Ian and Mickey shared a look, so akin to the one they had shared that day, years ago, in the store, filled with so much love, adoration and happiness before focusing their gazes on their child. It wasn't just between them anymore -- the love they had was now for the little boy as well, nurturing and taking care of him, allowing him to bask in it. They probably didn't even realize they were doing it.
Lola felt tears in her eyes.
She had once searched for the look.
Now, she hoped she would one day be able to share this look with her own husband and her own child.
Lola patted her swollen belly.
One day.
She watched as the two men and boy pulled away, still listening to the story the boy was telling. Lola pulled her phone out as she watched their retreating forms.
Lola opened the group chat, typing excitedly.
 --- old army besties ---
LOLA (12:33 PM): You'll never guess who I just saw.
She was thankful for many things Mickey Milkovich showed her, but the one thing she was grateful for the most was that thanks to him, the gossip never ended.

bonjour, how are you ? well a oneshot for levi with a kind and shy cadet s/o, who respect everybody but when she gets mad, she'll answer with sarcasm cuz she's dumbass without being afraid or caring about the punishment(even if it's keith or another chef, no body have the right to treat her like a shit) merçi beaucoup ^^✨
Hi friend :p i’m great and I hope you are as well ! Thank you for the request <3
LEVI ACKERMAN x F!READER
Warnings: cursing, age gap (legal of course)
Season: not specified
-
Becoming apart of the Survey Corps was everything but glamorous. Not that anyone would think that, but things definitely were on the ugly side most of the time. To be a scout required discipline and a huge amount of focus. To lay down your life without a second thought would be hard for just about anyone. For some reason, you found it rather easy.
Not a single person believed when you’d say it wasn’t that complicated. Of course knowing you’re going to die isn’t the most exciting thing to come to terms with, but every scout needs to. When your mind is set like that you only excel from there, and that’s exactly what you did. Many of your peers found you admirable, and only wished they could think they way you do.
Levi Ackerman especially found interest in you. At first to find a girl younger than him was controversial, only to him, and he worried that others would accuse you of trying to climb up in the ranks. Soon everyone knew Levi was not the reason you excelled. Sure he’d help you train and push you to your limits, but your natural inner strength is what has kept you alive.
The two of you never classified your relationship, but it was obvious it was closer than an ordinary friendship. There has been several occasions where a group of cadets have spotted you sneaking out of his office. One time Erwin saw you go in without even knocking, that’s the day he knew Levi Ackerman was definitely whipped.
Many couldn’t imagine how you two even came together. Levi was quiet, and only really spoke when giving orders. Then there was you, the quietest girl that had ever entered the Survey Corps. Nobody was being dramatic when they said to hear you speak was rare. You tried to keep to yourself, getting close to others was a weakness. Then Levi entered your life and screwed up that little plan, and now you were perfectly smitten with the captain.
The relationship, or whatever you’d call it, was kept at a minimum to the eyes of others. The furthest it had gone to give others a clue were the office visits, and the way you’d smile at him in the halls or during training.
Before the two of you became a thing you’d given him a few sarcastic remarks. Initially he saw you as someone who needed remediation, but that soon changed. The man saw so much of himself in you it was ridiculous, and he soon started to understand you. On the occasions you’d been a urchin he realized that you were simply sticking up for yourself.
It shocked many to hear the quiet girl stand up for herself, especially to someone as scary as Levi. Unlike everyone else, you didn’t find him intimidating. In all honestly, you didn’t find any of the commanders, chiefs, or captains worth cowering over. You’d experienced titans break down the wall to your home village and devour people in your late teenage years. A couple of humans were the least of your fears, especially men.
Those sarcastic remarks and dramatic eye rolls is what drew the captain in. Not to mention your strength was something they hadn’t seen in years. Some would go as far to say you were worth a hundred soldiers. The raven-haired man made it his mission to get closer with you. This feeling had never been within Levi, that’s how he knew you were special.
He knew you so well after years of watching you become stronger and more skilled. You may be young but you were better than half the soldiers who’d been fighting for a decade longer.
Levi was worried about today, it had been on his mind for weeks. It was time for commander Keith to do his annual checkup. Levi found it rather pointless but it had to be done. The sunkened eyed man always came when he brought a new batch of soldiers. Levi had managed to steer you clear of him year after year, but it still worried him. Keith was a loud and rude man most of the time, and that was your biggest pet peeves. To come face to face with a walking version of the things you hated wouldn’t end well. He knew if the man pushed your buttons in the wrong place you’d have plenty to say.
He spent majority of the day convincing you to train with him away from everyone else. It was his usual solution for this day, to have you separated. As the years went by you started to pick up on it, it’s not like you were dumb. Around the same time every year Levi did this and it started to become obvious and you knew something was happening.
Right now you were trying to take the wooden knife from his hand and pin him down, which was something you hadn’t done since the earlier years. It had been round after round of outsmarting him and throwing him to the ground that you finally spoke your mind, “Levi what’s going on? Everyone is gathered out front and we’re here, I want to get the experience that the others are.” He could see the frustration running through you, and the annoyed on your face expression was prominent.
You didn’t like when Levi took you to do things one on one when everyone else was together. There was a fear of judgment, what if they thought you were getting special treatment? This is what that was to you. Levi was much more skilled than anyone else out there and you were getting to do combat with him, which is unfair in your eyes. “I just wanted to have some alone time with you, is that okay?” The man may have a face that mainly consists of one expression, but you knew he was lying.
He knew you saw right through him once you scoffed. “I’m going to join everyone else, feel free to come with.” There was no stopping you now, even if he tried it’d be more obvious that something was going on. Your eyes scanned the groups of your fellow cadets, and a few you didn’t recognize. Did we get a new group today? You asked yourself.
Before you can really process what’s going on, a bald man with weird eyes is making his way towards you. You recognized his face from past expeditions, but didn’t care enough to remember his name. “Late to meet new fellow cadets?” He asked baffled, a bit dramatic in your opinion. Getting new cadets was nothing special or new, so who cares if you were late? Half of them would be titan food in the next month.
He was quick to talk before letting you answer, but you weren’t sure if you were even going to say anything. For a second you considered just walking away. Someone coming up to you and raising there voice for no reason was enough to irritate anyone. “You’ve been here for years but have never bothered to show up to one of these, maybe you should learn some respect cadet.”
Levi watched from afar with wide eyes. Of course Keith was already talking to you, the man had it out for you. He’s complain that you kept to yourself too much and it was suspicious, and hated that you never showed up to these. Half of that was obviously Levi’s fault. Keith wasn’t aware of that and also wasn’t aware of your relationship with the captain.
Keith’s eyes become staggered when you let out a light snicker, cheeks upturning into a smile. “What the hell is funny?” He asks with his arms crossed, still trying to be intimidating. “The fact that you think i’d ever be afraid of someone like you.” Your words made his mouth fall, no one had ever said something like that to him. He’s pretty much convinced himself at this point that everyone feared him in some way. Then there was you, showing him he was completely wrong.
“You should have some respect!” The man says, stepping closer to you. “So coming up to me without introducing yourself and yelling in my face earns you respect? I don’t know where the fuck you came from, but we say hello first here.” He was down right astonished by you. The smirk on your face made his blood boil, you had zero alarm of him. Before he could come back at you, which he was struggling to think of something, Levi’s hands were on your waist. “Oh well okay, i’m gonna take her away from you now.”
Levi nervously laughs as he pulls you away from Keith. You didn’t want to be around him any longer so Levi taking you away was perfectly fine with you. “What’s that guys deal?” You asked with your lips pushed up and you eyebrows knitted. “As you can tell, he’s not a fan of you.” Well duh, you could tell. You look over Levi’s shoulder to see the man was still looking at you with his same crossed arms. “What a freak,” you mumbled and Levi huffed.
“That freak is pretty important to the scouts, he could have you removed if he really wanted to.” That statement didn’t scare you one bit. Everyone would raise hell if you got taken away, Levi even knew it. “He said I never show up to these, do you know why?” Your brow is quirked and your hand is on you hip, fingers tapping against it. It had become evident that Levi had kept you away from the man, but that seemed to have made things worse over the years.
“I’m sorry,” he said while scratching the back of his head. He knew you had already figured it out by the way you were looking at him. You laughed a bit at his mannerism, the guy really had you isolated from someone like Keith. “It’s fine, you just need to understand I can handle myself.” You smile and Levi ruffles your hair. “I’m well aware you can handle yourself. I experienced the (y/n) attitude when you first got here, don’t think I forgot.” You chuckle thinking of the hard times you used to give him.
“Oh you loved it, didn’t you? I mean look at us now.”He rolls his eyes at you and you can’t help but let out another laugh. “Yeah yeah, whatever you brat,” he says playfully, “Just avoid Keith till he leaves. I don’t feel like listening to him complain about you, I may use choice words with him myself.” You scan to make sure no ones looking, Mainly Keith, before you smack a kiss on his cheek. His cheeks heat up at the gesture, which you’d never done in public before. “You sound like an old man, I may use some choice words,” you voice deepens as you restate what he had just said.
Before he can say anything your giving him another kiss on the cheek and walking off, “I want to meet some cadets this year, unlike all the times before this.” He presses his tongue to the inside of his cheek and narrows his eyes at you playfully. You walk off with a smile and wave, getting ready to greet the cadets. This would probably be the only time the new comers heard you speak to them directly.
Levi’s eyes watch you, then they widen when he sees Keith headed straight for you.
Shit, not again.

Felt like drawing something this morning, then I saw @lockandkeyhyena 's Cinders design for the 100th time and figured that looked like something I could bang out real quick, maybe even experiment with lineless art again.

My #1 post of 2022
I said this in the tags of a reblog and i just want to put this out there proper
Its wild that Runningnose was conceived entirely as a joke character. His single point of existence for Into the Wild was so that, when Firepaw found Yellowfang in ThunderClan territory, they could be like "but wait, if you're not ShadowClan's medicine cat anymore, that who... OHNO" *smash cut like a Family Guy cutaway joke to the single most unqualified-to-be-a-doctor person imaginable and play laugh track* Thats his entire place in the story.
Then they realized when they started writing the later books that the dumb joke character was still ShadowClan's medicine cat and was therefore too important to just ignore / write out, so they had to take him seriously as a charcater, and as more and more horrible stuff happened in ShadowClan the more and more emotional weight they put on the doctor who couldn't cure his runny nose.
Eventually we get to Yellowfang's Secret and its revealed that he had a neglegent mother and was the foster brother of the tyrant that ruined his life, and when we get to his naming ceremony Yellowfang has to say with a straight face "Your name will be a reminder that medicine cats can't cure everything" and they have to just straight into Yellowfang's dream cause how could you possibly write his reaction to that as anything other than him realizing his entire life is a joke.
And now we are at the point where people are reading stuff like Exile from ShadowClan where theres just a character whos a doctor with an uncurable runny nose named Runningnose and everybody had to treat him like any other serious character and can't even bat an eye at how foolish that is while the reader is left to wonder how we ended up in this timeline.
This is all just another reason why hes my favorite charcater

ok so to sum up my feelings for leverage: redemption, season 1(a): (long post warning, there’s a tl;dr at the end)
I knew that Hardison wouldn’t be in most of the season due to Aldis Hodge being a busy bee nowadays, but I didn’t realize that meant he’d only be around for the first two episodes. He was sorely missed, not only because of my attachment to him, but also because he’s usually the grounding factor in the group dynamic, and his role as info guy and tech guy was split evenly between two characters who had their own issues.
That said, Hardison is absolutely a highlight of the two episodes he’s in. his speech about redemption was everything I could’ve hoped for (plus, more evidence for the Jewish!Hardison pile...). I wish we’d gotten to see more of his dynamic with Breanna because what we saw was funny and sweet and we don’t generally get to see Hardison taking care of somebody who so desperately needs taking care of. I hope that Aldis Hodge is around for more episodes in 1(b), because what we’re left with feels a little hollow.
Sticking to original leverage characters for now, for the most part the leverage crew still felt true to the original series as characters, even if the show itself was a little bit confused at times. The actors understand their characters and embody them so well that I think one could give them the trashiest script ever and they’d still sell it. Sophie is a particular focus in 1(a) because of Nate’s death, and she’s particularly well written as a result.
That said, I’m super bitter that we saw little to no mastermind!Parker. Parker’s character being given the mastermind role was a big deal and it feels like they’re walking it back because they feel uncomfortable with it. It is eventually given an in-text excuse, but literally in the last episode, and it was not a particularly convincing reason, and in fact contradicted moments from previous episodes (Sophie leaving for a client meeting and ignoring Parker in ep3 comes to mind). It’s frustrating, it makes the end of the original leverage feel pointless, and letting Parker make a decision once in a while is not the same thing at all. The original series repeatedly showed us that while everyone in the team had their strengths, Parker works problems and solves them in unique, interesting ways, and other characters’ days in the limelight tended to be comedic or even failures. It’s a broken promise, and a pretty major broken promise at that.
On a more positive note, Parker’s dynamic with literally everyone was fantastic. She’s possibly the best written character this season. They’ve taken the autism out of the subtext and into the text (although obviously still undiagnosed), and given her coping mechanisms that were taken seriously in the text even when they were played for laughs, which I appreciated. Her attempts to mentor Breanna were sweet, her friendship with Sophie was electric and at times (CRIMES) hilarious, and as usual, she has a fantastic dynamic with Eliot that makes my heart burst. If you don’t think they’re romantically involved, at least acknowledge there’s a life partnership here. They’ve spent the last decade together.
(We’ll get to Harry.)
Eliot isn’t given much arc-wise, which is frustrating since he’s my favorite. He’s being presented as the goal at the end of a redemption arc, ie to keep working at it every day until your soul heals or whatever, and it doesn’t reflect the message they’re trying to convey via Hardison’s speech and our two new characters. He’s got his moments, but I think they under utilized his potential.
Breanna!!! Breanna’s my new favorite, except for Eliot. She’s hilarious, she’s insecure, she’s nerdy and excited in a way that’s similar to Hardison but still distinct in its inherent teenage-girl-ness and I LOVE IT. Unlike the previous series, where Hardison’s “age of the geek” was often a joke played on Hardison, we’re at the point where Eliot and Parker are both right there with him, and so they accept and even appreciate Breanna’s nerdiness. Also, canon gay character? In YOUR Leverage? It’s more likely than you think.
(No, I never thought they’d make ot3 canon on screen. I hoped, but I didn’t think it would actually happen.)
I think Breanna’s the character that will be the most interesting to see grow. She’s got a lot of potential and a list of crimes a mile long (or more). I adore her with all my heart. I want to see her tiktok account.
Harry. Oh, Harry.
It took me a while, but I do like Harry. It took a while, because the narrative positioned him at the same level as Nate back in episode 1 of original Leverage. But in episode 1 we didn’t know the other characters. We had Nate as the POV character, and so we cared about him because we were seeing the world through his eyes. (This is TV Studies 101. I know this, because I took TV Studies 101 in 2019.) In Leverage: Redemption, we no longer have a POV character, for several reasons:
Nate, previously the POV character, is dead.
As it is, by mid-season 3 of leverage Nate was no longer a POV character. This is, coincidentally, the point where the leverage writers realized they had four other characters in the main cast they could do something with, and in-universe, Nate accepted that he was a thief, not a special Good Man.
Sophie is sort of a POV character for the first episode of the revival, but only for the first few minutes. Afterwards, the series settles into the groove of seasons 3-5, i.e., the entire crew is our POV. We know our crew, and we love them as is.
Narratively, however, Redemption insists on positing Harry as the POV character, because it is his redemption we are pursuing most vehemently. And I think they really relied on us already knowing the actor - I’ve never seen him in anything before, so to me he was a completely fresh face and they put almost no effort into selling him to me. Beyond being competent and consistently mildly baffled by the antics of the leverage crew, I honestly don’t know who this man is by the end of EIGHT episodes with him. I have a much better handle on Breanna by the end of 1(a), and I can tell you I knew all five of the original leverage crew better by the end of the first episode of the original series than I do Harry. What’s the name of his daughter, John Rogers. Is he still married. How old is the daughter. Why is none of this worth mentioning. Give him a sense of humor that isn’t reacting to other people’s shenanigans. I’m so frustrated. It’s bad writing.
I did manage to grow to like Harry by the end, but I’m pretty sure this is down to Noah Wyle’s charismatic portrayal of an under-developed character, at least partially. And I never stopped being frustrated at not knowing who this man is at all.
The two highlights of the season are undoubtedly episodes five and six. Episode five was the first time I felt like the episode was more than a collection of good moments between the main cast and mediocre moments between the main cast and also the main plot. The issues with pacing and tone that I suffered through for most of the season were mostly non-existent in ep5 and 6, and at least in episode 5 I attribute that to the pared down cast. They had time to focus not only on our actual characters - Sophie, Parker, Breanna - but also on the case. This is the only client from 1(a) I am going to remember next week without googling it first, mark my words.
Episode six worked for the exact opposite reason - it completely disregarded the client and plot and immersed itself in the characters. Breanna gets a moment to shine, but everybody else gets their bits and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the script that was most fun to write. The characters felt natural, real, and captured the found-family dynamic that’s been missing all season for the first time.
While episode 2 is the weakest episode, I don’t actually have much to say about it. I am disappointed in episode 8. For a mid-season finale, I really expected them to do something. Instead, it was an episode about Nate Ford that copped out of being about Nate Ford (both with fake-Nate and with the new version of him being relayed to us). I would have told the writers to give that energy back to episode 1 and write an episode that’s about anybody who isn’t Harry, oh my God. I know I said I grew to like him but so many episodes were about Harry. He’s the newbie! Why didn’t Hardison get an episode that was actually about him, considering he was only around for two episodes? Why does Eliot have to be the butt of the joke when the theme of the series should directly tie back to him in a much more meaningful way? The last episode parodies their own tagline by saying Eliot isn’t just a hitter, but it deftly avoids noticing that they’ve turned him into nothing more than very muscly comic relief, including in that very episode!
Also, I hated the Marshal. Eliot actively looked uncomfortable around her.
tl;dr
The season took a while, that’s definitely true. But it did find its footing eventually, and by the halfway mark of 1(a) it finally felt cohesive again. The characters were played fantastically even when they weren’t well-written, and if nothing else, the humor landed every time. It still has its kinks and problems to work out, but if you look at it as a brand new show rather than a continuation of one that went off the air over eight years ago, it’s actually doing rather well. I’m choosing to judge it in both lights - according to its own standards, it establishes its identity in episode five; according to Leverage standards, it establishes its connection to its roots in episode six. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed 1(a), and continue to have high hopes for 1(b).
fic writing will commence in three, two, one...

Leaving home was always a rough time for both parent and child. Anybody who grew up in a loving home tended to stick to that home like glue, not wanting to separate from it and instead choosing to go to schools and jobs closer to home, closer to family. Those without however, preferred their freedom. When the clock struck 12 and everybody went to sleep was the only time they'd have to themselves, the only time they'd ever have to feel safe and relaxed — leaving home wasn't as hard on them.
You...well you were a different story. You didn't like a lot of things, being grabbed, having things snatched out of your hands, people taking your food without permission, somebody talking to you when you're clearly trying to avoid them — the list could go on. But growing up leaving you home never seemed to cross your mind. For whatever reason you felt like things were fine at home, not perfect but not terrible either, nine year old you didn't stop to think that one day you'd have to make the decision to move away from your friends and family. The small town you were in had a lot of older people, ones that never separated from their high school popularity phase and believed that the world revolved around them and them only, the others were newly young adults seeking any way out. You hoped you'd be the ladder.
Your parents had never spoken to you about leaving the house, meaning you grew up only learning what was taught in school. World War One and two, Pearl Harbor, slavery, and other shitty thing America did and or went through throughout the course of centuries on end — all only ever learned or discussed in school. The main focus in your household was religion and religion only. It's what you grew up to be right, nothing else existed in your mind besides that.
There was nothing wrong with that. Well...until around the time high school hit. Senior year was the year stressed to you since you were a freshman, you could barley fathom the fact that you'd have to apply for colleges, work on a bunch of different essays and possibly move away when you were young and you could still barley understand it now. But it was only then, then when they had handed you that slip of paper of which colleges you were going to apply to did you realize something; you didn't want to end up in a boring old relationship with a guy from your sophomore geometry class, get married, have a couple of kids that would send you to a nursing home and never live the life you dreamed of having.
You wanted that Disney channel teenage life, teenage adventures that would give you enough memories to last a lifetime and successfully say you lived your life to the fullest. While your teenage years had been spent in a church every weekday, your nose in school books and your bedtime forever stuck at the time 8:30, you swore your adulthood would be different.
Everything would be different.
"Are you sure you're not missing anything, hun?" Your mother asked nervously watching you pack the trunk up with your suitcase and extra bags. You yawned into your hand due to the more than early hours you guys were beginning the trip in order to make it early to your destination.
"You made a list mom, I don't think there's anything I could miss." She smiled your small joke and got in the passenger seat of the car, "You know, you guys really don't have to come. It's nearly a 4 and half hour drive over there, not including the drive back." You mentioned
"We already told you we're going to stop by my mother in laws and stay for a while." Your father explained, you sighed and got into the backseat of the car.
You brought your favorite stuffy and laid your head on it against the window as you prepared yourself for the 4 hour drive from your old childhood home to a new place where new memories could be made. It felt almost nostalgic watching your entire childhood fly by from behind a window. The blue slide you loved going up and down on till you felt like throwing up. The metal pole that always terrified you trying to go down. The monkey bars you taught yourself to climb because of the lack of friends you had that could teach you. It all seemed to disappear behind flashes of trees and road as the car drifted further and further away from the place you called home.
"Morning sunshine! We're here!" Your father exclaimed, waking you out of your slumber. You groaned quietly and rubbed the sleep out of your eyes, taking a moment to look out the window at the large building in front of you. Gawking at the size, you shook your head and stepped out of the car to get a closer look.
"This is much smaller than the one I went to." Mentioned your father, squinting up at the building and helping you pull your suitcase out of the trunk.
"That's because you went to community college, honey." You chuckled at your moms observation and rolled your suitcase up to the sidewalk.
"Well I'll see you guys—" you started until your words were cut off by your mother slapping her hands down on your shoulders and giving you a firm look.
"I better not come visit you in a few months and see you with a purple Mohawk, piercings and a girlfriend, you hear me?" You nodded at her dramatic remarks and felt yourself internally cringe at her words.
"Hopefully we come back to you with a kind little boyfriend and a college degree we can show off to the rest of the family." Your father said, wrapping his arm around his wife's shoulders and gave you a tight lipped smile.
"Call us when you get settled and show us your roommate."
"And if they're anything we told you to not look like or if they smoke, drink or are sexually active in public, please change roommates."
They listed off, you internally rolled your eyes but still managed to give them a nod.
"Okay, I get it. Bye." You waved them off and stayed on the sidewalk till their old beat up grey car pulled away from the university.
Sighing, you rolled your shoulders back, grabbed all your things and walked the 10 minutes all the way to your side of the dorms. Personally, you had no clue who your roommate was besides their name but you knew even if you got a wild one you wouldn't change rooms. It didn't matter to you wether or not your roommate had purple hair, while your parents and nearly everyone in life tended to stick their nose in the business of others, you had no care in the world about anybody else.
From the moment you stepped into your new room, your nostrils were immediately being wrapped in by the smell of vanilla and incense. You looked around the room and noticed that only half of it was done up while the other was plain and void of any decoration.
"Hello, who are you?" A soft voice asked politely and there in front of you stood one of the prettiest girls you'd ever seen. She was a short young woman with long, disheveled shoulder-length black hair, a Greek nose and relaxed dark eyes.
"Oh sorry! I'm your new roommate, you're Pieck Finger, right?" You greeted her, shaking her surprisingly soft hands and placing your bags down on the floor next to you.
"Sorry about the smell, I'm lighting some incense to cleanse the new room. I just got here last night."
"Mhm, are you religious?" You asked, pointing to the black leather notebook in her hand. She looked down at it but smiled and shook her head.
"Ah no, I'm Agnostic. Although my childhood friend practices Hinduism and I guess I pick up on some things." She explained, you nodded at her words and made a mental note to ask her what the hell agnostic meant at a later time. Her eyes went down to the bags in your hand and reached out to grab your suitcase.
"Here I got this, I'll put this on your side of the bed and let me know if I can help with setting anything up." She offered kindly, you nodded at her offer and the two of you immediately got to work.
As you folded your clothes into a drawer and hung them up in a closet and Pieck finished wrapping your bed in it's covers and blankets, the two of you talked. Talked as if you'd been friends since birth. Pieck felt like someone you could truly se yourself being friends with in the long run of college, she was also someone your parents would most likely accept and allow you to stay with. The two of you bonded over certain interests, Pieck had a knack for writing — poems, full books, it didn't matter; you were the artistic one. Always doodling on something or recreating famous art paintings in your room, usually religious paintings as your parents always told you that if you were going to have painting as a hobby you might as well paint something useful.
"Finally, we're done." You sighed, exhaustedly throwing yourself onto the newly made bed. Pieck chuckled and stood up, grabbing her belongings and putting them into a small book bag.
"Hey, me and my friends are meeting in the library later, would you like to come?" She asked, you mulled over the idea for a quick second and nodded your head.
The walk from your dorm and the library gave you and Pieck even more time to get to know each other. She explained how most people from her old high school had come to the nearest college, it being this one which is why she never worried about not making any friends. Your eyes nearly popped out of your eye socket as you stepped up to the large library building, it being much bigger than any library your town had to offer. Pieck held the door open for you as you stepped in and took a moment to admire the large area.
"Psst, Pieck!" Whispered a voice, you looked over to see a brown haired woman in big round glasses waving the two of you over with a wide grin on her face. Pieck waved back and walked over the round table with the two other people sitting and you following behind her.
"Hey guys, this is my new roommate. This is—"
"Hange Zoë, nice to meet you!" The glasses wearing woman exclaimed excitedly taking your hand in her and shaking it vigorously. A nearby librarian glared her way and hushed her, she smiled and apologized to the old woman.
"I'm Porco." Replied the blonde boy on the other side of the table dryly.
You waved at him awkwardly and sat down next to Pieck, yet it was only after they began pulling out their books did you realize you had nothing with you. Tapping the dark haired girl on the shoulder, you motioned towards the bookshelf's and stood up to leave once Pieck nodded her head.
You walked around aimlessly with no true destination or book in mind till you came across a bookshelf, this one different than the others and tucked away in a little corner. It was old and basic but it still had integrity. The wood was straight and it hugged the wall. On closer inspection you could see scratches, the wood a little more pale where it had been dinged. You touched the roughness, not minding one bit and looked at the books inside. The fiction section had always been your favorite growing up, your parents believed books like Harry Potter were some sort of books that demonic and plaguing words hidden within them so you only ever grew up reading them in short amounts of time in the library before they could find you.
A small gasp made its way up your throat as your eyes landed across a book titled Alice in Wonderland, one of your top favorites. The ladder that usually came along with each bookshelf was currently being occupied yet this specific bookshelf seemed to take up nearly the entire wall of the library — this might've been one of the first things you couldn't successfully grab with ease. You reached your hand up to grab the book, your fingertips only slightly touching them before the book suddenly disappeared from your grasp and a warm presence creeped up behind you, towering over your frame.
Looking up, your eyes met a pair deep dark eyes staring down at you, the book now forgotten in your mind as it was now clouded with the face of the person in front of you. It was only after a couple seconds that you blinked out of your trance and stepped back, falling straight between the bookshelf and the person. You felt...intimidated. The person in front of you was more than taller than you, a height you thought was nearly impossible. They tilted their head to the side, bent down a bit and held the book out in their hand as your eyes stayed trained on theirs.
"Do you want it?" They asked, you nearly jumped in your skin at the sound of their somewhat deep voice.
"Huh?"
"The book." You looked down and finally registered the fact that they'd picked up the book you were grabbing at and now held it out to  you.
"O-oh right, thank you." You stuttered, mentally cursing yourself for acting this way. While your eyes strayed away from theirs, they went downward to the person's appearance.
They wore a dark green turtleneck sweater paired with high waisted black pants, accentuating their long legs and black lace up Oxford shoes — their entire appearance intimidated you. The center of their nose pierced through with silver piece of jewelry.
"I..." you regretted opening your mouth the second the words came out, "gotta go," the words spilled out of your mouth as you immediately walked around them and towards your table, the interaction still replaying in your head on loop. It wasn't until you rapidly sat yourself down next to Pieck that you felt like you could breath.
You weren't the most social person in the world but you also weren't the most nervous, but they...their presence, their height, the look in their eyes, it all seemed to send you into frenzy. Ignoring the slightly worried look you got from Pieck, you open the notebook given to you and tried to let the interaction seep away into your memories. Yet it didn't work. Every word on the paper seemed to fly over your head, your mind never sticking to the sentences given to you. Hell, you could barley read about Alice's shitty life without comparing it to what had just occurred. It was all too fresh. Too new. Too...interesting.
"Mornin' Pieck." Greeted a deep voice from behind you, turning around you were faced with a tall blonde haired man with small circle glasses resting on his nose.
"Good mornin, Zeke." Pieck responded kindly, the man looked around the table greeting everyone till his eyes met yours.
"I don't think I've met you before, and who must you be?" He bowed down respectfully and held out his hand, you looked at it confused for a second before sliding your hand into his and watching as he leaned his head down to plant a kiss at the back of your hand.
Before you could protest, a different hand gripped Zeke's shoulder, he pulled away and turned around to find his female companion standing above him with a blank expression on her face — one he'd gotten used to over the course of their friendship. Meanwhile your breath was caught in your throat at the sight of the intimidating person you'd met only moments before.
"Your book, Zeke." They said plainly, Zeke pulled away from you and took the textbook of their hands, thanking them and skimming through the textbook as both of your eyes never left theirs.
"Good morning, Yelena." Pieck greeted her with a smile, finally, Yelena's eyes drifted away from yours and were now on Pieck, the sides of her lips quirking up into a smirk for a second.
"Good morning, Pieck." Your eyes went back and forth between them in confusion until another person popped up behind Zeke.
"Hey guys, hey hange, Pieck." The dark haired man bun wearing boy said, leaning his arm against Zeke's shoulder despite them being the same height.
"Guess I'm just invisible then" spoke up Porco with an offended look on his face, the dark haired boy simply looked at him and blinked.
"Oh no I knew you were there, I just don't care. Anyways, are you guys coming to my big party tonight?" He asked excitedly, Zeke scoffed and pushed his glasses further up his face.
"Tch, we're not children, Eren. Why would we go to some teenage party?" Eren scoffed at the blonde mans response.
"Yeah obviously not you, old man, you're fucking ancient. I was talking to Pieck and..." he looked at you with a confused expression before shrugging and pointing at you, "and her."
"I'm not even that old—"
"Sorry, Eren but you already know my answer." She apologized, Eren pouted and groaned.
"Oh come on, please, Pieck? The last time you went everybody loved you, please?" He begged Pieck, placing his hands on her arm that was leaned against the wooden chair she sat at.
"Aw sorry, kid. I love them all too but I gotta tutoring session today." She apologized sympathetically, patting the boys head and turning to you, "what about you?"
You jumped at the sudden spotlight on you but shook your head regardless, "If Pieck's not going then neither am I." Eren groaned again and tried puppy dog eyes on the long haired woman in front of him.
"Look Pieck, you're deriving your new friend here with the experience of a fun college party." She smiled at his explanation which apparently told Eren enough that he stopped bugging her and stood up to his full height, slamming his shoulder into Zeke's as he walked away and mumbled something under his breath. Zeke almost turned around to go after him until Yelena outstretched her arm to stop him.
"He's a child." She pointed out
"He's a little shit, is what he is." Zeke complained, you looked over at Hange for information.
"They're brothers." She stated, your mouth made an o shape as you finally came to understand why the two seemed to have so much beef between them.
"Half brothers, Hange. Don't associate me with that brat." Zeke huffed, everyone chuckling at the mans clear discomfort with him and Eren being in the same room let alone sentence. "Anyways, we've gotta go, me and Yelena have business to take care of." Zeke said.
"Jeez, you make it sound like the two of you are hooking up." Porco mentioned with a disgusted look on his face,
"What if we are?" He joked playfully until he looked up to see Yelena towering over him with a straight look on her face, Zeke cleared his throat and shook his head, "Kidding, kidding."
The two of them walked out of the library and the three other people at your table continued on their reading while your mind was racked with a bunch of questions of the new characters you just met. You tried to avoid eye contact with Yelena when she was leaving but could still feel her piercing gaze stay onto you until she couldn't anymore.
"So are they?" You inquired with a whisper, leaning over Pieck's shoulder
"Are they what?"
"Zeke and Yelena. Are they..." you raised your eyebrows as the words clicked in Pieck's mind and the other two at the table began laughing into their books.
"No, sweetie, they're not sleeping together or dating." She denied
"Pfft, the day we see Yelena with a man is the day pigs fly." Chuckled Porco, you looked at them confused at their jokes.
"Yelena's a lesbian, babe." Pieck finished your thought and your eyes slightly widened at her response, not expecting it. Embarrassment silently creeped into your mind as you groaned and tucked your head into your arms.
"Well now I feel stupid." The three of them laughed and Pieck rubbed your back.
For some reason, those words felt like a small weight lifted off your shoulders. You couldn't understand why you felt so...happy that she wasn't with Zeke in that way. Maybe you just wanted to her friend. Yeah....that had to be it....her friend.
