Minho's white-knuckle grip on your wrist was bruising, his blunt nails threatening to leave little stinging crescents dug into your skin-- you bit your lip to mask your giddy, triumphant smile as he tugged you into the spare bathroom, dragged you through the pulsating crowd as you tripped over your strappy heels. He only let go of you to slam the door shut and lock it swiftly behind him, his wild, firey eyes and grit-tooth scowl melting away to the bored and emotionless glare you were all to familiar with. It pierced through your vodka-soaked confidence in an instant, sent you reeling and scrambling for words to say as a dull throbbing took ahold at the base of your wrist, just over your pulse point. The flourescent lights of the bathroom made your eyes sting, too adjusted to the dark of the party outside-- it just made you struggle even more to look Minho in the eye. He always made you feel so small, towering over you and looking down at you as if you were nothing at all... and you hated it more than anything.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" you spat, rubbing your wrist, fighting to keep your strength as you leveled with his gaze. It wasn't like you to hold your ground like this-- you can tell it throws Minho off, pisses him off even further as he bullies his way into your personal space. The music that had been nearly deafening just moments before had been muffled into obscurity, stripped away to a booming bassline that nearly shook the floor; it reverberated through your body still, a thrumming under your skin that left you restless, nervous. Minho could read it all over your face.
“Excuse me?! What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” he hissed back venomously, taller frame advancing on you quickly. His arms come to brace themselves on either side of you, effectively trapping you against the sink-- he crowds your vision, his warm breath fanning across your face, and you try desperately to look anywhere except into his deep dark eyes.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about—" you began, as sturdy as you could, but Minho's rough, humorless laugh cuts you off. His hands grip either side of the sink with force, and you can see the veins in his forearms ripple under the fabric of his rolled-up jacket sleeves.
“Don’t fucking lie to me.” there was something all too familiar about this, Minho’s voice poisoning and dripping with something that makes your thighs shake and rub together— those long fingers you came to hate and adore grabbed ahold of your chin, squeezing your plush cheeks together as he forced your eyes to meet his. a broken, barely-there whimper sneaks it’s way past your pursed lips. “Are you trying to piss me off? Is that it? Whoring around with other guys right in fucking front of me?!”
“We were just talking—“
Minho sneers. “Sure you were, rubbing up all over him and talking all sweet while dressed like a fuckin’ slut.”
He spits the words out like it was a nasty secret, jolting through you with a sickening shock— your cheeks flush hot between Minho’s cold fingers, your panties growing damp embarrassingly quickly, molded to your wet pussy folds… you loved it when Minho was jealous, loved how to see just how nasty you would make him when you hit him where it hurt.
And maybe you loved it because it proved to you, in some sick, backwards way, that Minho even cared about you at all.
“I’m not dressed like a whore,” you retort weakly, sounding far more petulant and pathetic than you meant to.
“Are you kidding me? Fucking look at you, shit. So damn beautiful. I can’t stand it.”
Minho let go of your face and backed away to take in your skin-tight dress, picked with care for the stupid frat party he had pulled you away from, the one that you didn't even want to go to— your hands twitched with the urge to cross your arms, hide and protect yourself in some way from Minho's piercing stare. Your little red dress barely covers the tops of your thighs, thin gold necklace sitting pretty just above the cleavage of your plush tits, spilling out over a push-up bra. Your outfit is complete with deep crimson lipstick painted on your quivering lips— Minho stared at them, wild and hungry, and it takes everything you have not to moan aloud.
"Slutty girl," Minho hummed, hand sliding up to caress at your exposed thigh. “So desperate for my attention… Gotta go whore yourself out so you can get put back in your fucking place? Remind you who you belong to?"
"I don't belong to you." You snapped. "We're not together, Minho-- you don't get to act like this when I see you with a different girl every week."
Minho just laughed, mean and ugly and right in your face, grabbing a rough handful of your thigh and squeezing. "Oh yeah?" he goads, the smirk on his lips doing little to hide the rage in his eyes. "You’re the one who keeps coming back for more, baby— just can’t live without this cock, huh? Constantly telling me it's over then crawling back into my bed. you’re not my girl but that pussy’s mine.”
"Fuck you," you spat, tears in your eyes.
Minho grinned venomously, opening up a pit in your stomach; his thumb ghosted across your skin, inched it's way underneath your dress, leaving a line of fire in it's wake. "Yeah, I know you want to."
You whimpered, torn halfway between pushing him off of you and begging for his touch-- the latter wins, despite all of your anger, your conflicted feelings. It always does. "please, Min--" you plead, desperate and wobbly, unsure of what you're even begging for.
"Get on your knees."
And like the slut you are, your knees hit the cold tile floor without any protest.
You were met immediately with the sight of Minho’s hard on, the outline of his thick cock straining the fly of his jeans. "'Atta girl,” Minho hummed, his voice low, one hand coming to cup your head and the other reaching to fumble with his belt. He looks his prettiest like this, you think, towering above you. Commanding attention and respect, no matter how lowly he treated you. He tugged his belt open, leaves it dangling from his belt loops, quick and rough in unzipping his fly; your mouth watered, eyes wide and hazy as you watch him pull his stiff cock out of his boxers, his shaft slapping obscenely against his belly. “Gonna fuck your face, gonna ruin that pretty throat— open wide, baby.”
His cock was flushed pretty pink and leaking precum, flared tip shiny and throbbing, begging for your tongue— you wasted no time to trail chaste kitten licks over the dripping slit, relish in the way Minho’s breath hitches from the feeling, his fingers tangling in your hair. You closed your eyes in rapture, lose yourself in the salty, bitter taste of his shaft… and Minho grunted low in his throat, tightened around a fistful of your hair and pulled you back off his dick harshly, shaking you out of your reverie and knocking you nearly on your ass in surprise.
“Said I was gonna fuck your throat, stupid bitch. Open your fucking mouth and stop teasing.”
Rougher than usual, he pushed you back to take his cock into your mouth, shoved you all the way down to his twitching balls. You gagged violently, tears collecting in your lash lines. “There we go,” Minho hissed, the hand in your hair rubbing soothingly over your burning scalp. “Take it like a good girl.”
He began to thrust into your throat in true earnest, uncaring for your comfort, heavy balls slapping against your chin in a dizzying rhythm— your whines and whimpers were muffled by his cock, nasty wet noises filling the bathroom as your boyfriend uses you like a toy; the perfect backing vocals for the slow song playing outside. “Shit!” Minho whined, his hips stuttering, your nose bumping up against his pelvis— your lips left smeared red marks along his shaft and the base of his dick, and some sick satisfaction bubbles up inside of you, makes you smile around the cock fucking your throat open; while Minho ruins your makeup, leaves you gasping, drooling and choking, you’re marking him up too. “Good girl, such a good fucking girl--!"
Your pussy throbbed, empty and aching, and it registered somewhere in the back of your mind that you were crying, hot tears and ruined mascara streaming down your flushed cheeks as Minho fucked your face. "I'm-- shit, I'm gonna cum! Gonna take it, yeah? Gonna make everyone know you're mine, all mine-- fuck, 'm cumming--!"
Your eyes rolled back in delight, pretty painted mouth opening impossibly wider in preparation to take his load, but it never came— to your shock and awe, Minho pulled you off of his cock with a sickening pop, just seconds before rope after rope of hot, thick semen shoots all over your face. On your nose, cheeks, chin, some droplets falling on the flat of your tongue— you moaned at the taste despite the abject horror settling in your chest. And you watch, wide eyed and too dazed and dizzy to fight back, as Minho pulled out his phone and snapped a picture of you. He smirked down at his phone screen before turning it around for you to see.
You were a mess. Your hair was disheveled, tangled everywhere from Minho’s hands. Your makeup was ruined, all over your face in tear-stained streaks... your face was pink and blotchy, shiny with splatterings of Minho’s cum, and your lipstick was smeared across your cheek, nearly to your ear. You gasped, frozen in place, unable to react any other way... Minho's smirk broke into a laugh, hollow and evil and eating you alive.
“Aren’t you just the prettiest little thing?” Minho snickered, sliding his phone back in his back pocket. "Might just have to show you off-- such a pretty picture deserves to be shared, don't you think?"
He’s quick to tuck his soft— still lipstick stained— cock back into his jeans and buckle back up his belt, fix his hair in the mirror. He looks a little sweaty but otherwise well-kept, and you wish now that you had kissed him more, marked up his face and neck with lipstick too and not just his dick, when you had the chance. "Clean yourself up, won’t you? You look like a mess.”
And with that, Minho unlocked  the door and stepped  out of the bathroom, shutting it behind him with a dull click.

Am I the only one who needs to be strapped down by the wrists and ate out against my will by alpha elias while I struggle to not show how good everything feels and beg for him to stop despite my arching body telling him the opposite?
Bonus if he flips darling over, jerks their hips upwards and sets a teasing pace with one hand pushing their upper body down so they can’t do anything but arch backwards into him and grip the sheets for dear life. All the while licking a stripe up their neck before burying his teeth into their nape to mark them, growling possessively when they refuse to moan for him, digging deeper and thrusting into them harder until they whimper in submission.
Bonus Bonus if it’s Doc Lee’s butterfly and he’s made to watch, threatening to cum inside them if he looks away.
((Female reader! Hope you beans can enjoy!))
“You’re so cute when you try to fight this” The deranged man murmurs against your skin, ice once again filling your veins as his fingers come to clutch at your thighs to spread them apart, massaging the meat and fat of them as he soaks in the sight of you, bare and open, ready for him to gorge himself on.
“The fact no one has kissed every scar and told you they were beautiful paint strokes on your canvas, shows me there’s truly less hope for humanity than I thought” Elias praises as his fingers begin to trace up and down your hips and the apex of your thighs. “Every pretty vein, every mark and mole, every scar from small to large deserves to be savored and kissed. You’re a beautiful soul who does nothing but give and give and give” he murmurs, placing a soft kiss to the top of your mound. “Such battle scars. Gorgeous even if they came from a time of hideous treatment to you”.
You feel his warm breath against you while your bindings only tighten, holding you still as the maniac worships you, praises you like you’re truly a relic or a god, as if He truly believed you gave him a purpose. You were ashamed of how your breath was stolen from you, his nimble fingers hardly touching you yet bringing out such pleasure, even when in such a state of panic.
“I know you say you don’t want this, that you only have feelings for that rat of a doctor…But I know he’s just simply brainwashed you. He doesn’t know how to treat you, hoards you like an object rather than spoil you like a lover”.
You spit something out to him, but the gag in your mouth doesn’t allow it to truly be heard. It's just more amusement for the psycho as you tremble and hiss like a terrified cat. How absolutely precious. Elias just grins, wicked and wild as he helps turn your head to face the right of you, where in the corner of the room, Lee had been bound and gagged as well, anger clear in his eyes and features as he venomously spews words that are muffled and garbled.
Elias just kisses down your bare body once again, amused and gleeful as the doctor struggles. “Oh don't tell me you thought this was a private show? Tsk tsk tsk then how would that doctor learn his lesson? No no my dear, he’s going to watch, and you are going to be good and put on a good show. I’d hate to have to take his fingers or pull his teeth, but if you insist on misbehaving…I can give it a shot”.
Oh god he was serious. Lee wouldn’t ever be caught, not by someone so easily. But again, Elias isn’t just anyone. He’s at this facility for a reason. His hand comes to cup your warmth, slowly letting his fingers spread your lips so he could feel the dewy skin, shuddering as he breathes in your scent. “Don't be too in your own head, lovely. Just relax, let me take care of everything else. Lee will be fine, if he can behave. Don't worry your cute little head about it”.
You whimper at that, his fingers sliding up your folds to toy with your clit, his eyes molten and hot as they watched you writhe and gasp from just a few quick circles being rubbed. Cute. You must really be pent up if that's all that gets you going. Not that he minds, mind you. Sensitivity just means more fun for him.
“Good. So good for me. Look at you, arching into my touch already. I haven’t even done anything” he muses, sliding his body back down until your legs were once again around his head, not that they had much of a choice. He hears Lees grunts and muffled vulgarity, but pays it no mind as he drags his tongue up from your fluttering hole to your twitching clit, greedily sucking the bud while his shoulders relax.
Yes. This is exactly where he needs to be. Between your thighs while you use his face, make him your little toy to use and throw away when you’re done. But of course, Lee had to try and take that luxury away from him too. If he had it his way, well, you’d be doing a lot more room visits for him that’s for sure. He doesn't mind following the majority of rules in this place, but he draws the fucking line at Lee trying to take you away from him.
Listening to your moans and whimpers as his tongue happily laps away, it almost makes him forget that the doctor is in here, watching as he drinks your ambrosia. He almost hates that he’s here, listening to you, but having him just an arms reach away and unable to take you, it gave him a wicked feeling of amusement.
His soft petal lips suck on your folds, moving to suck on your little bud aggressively as you gasp and try to kick, the pleasure shooting up your spine being too much and making you go taut, before once again relaxing as he holds your legs still and drags his tongue through your wetness again and again like a thirsty animal, drool covering his chin as he loses himself and tries to show your body just how much he loves you, loves your smell, your warmth, your taste- everything about you was mouth watering.
You have fresh tears dripping down your beautiful face when his viper like eyes stare back up at you, and his cock only throbs harder. He loves sending you to such planes of bliss that it’s too much to handle. So much love that you can’t fathom, so you cry. Every time you climax, it’s a sign of how much you love each other, right? That has to be why your pretty eyes are so wet and weary. You just feel so much love, you don't know what to do.
Don’t worry. He knows exactly what you need.
His hands grip your legs more firmly, lifting them up so they rested on his shoulders as he completely loses himself in you, giving you no reprieve or break as his mouth gets to work, slurping, sucking, licking and swirling right where you need it to, bringing you to the edge and not just tipping you over- with how strong it felt you might as well have been launched off, your body arching and shaking as Elias still, rather obscenely, eats you out, helping you ride through the orgasm as he continues drinking you down and savoring you on his tongue.
It’s wet, his face is covered, sweat drool and your essence is dripping down his face as he pulls away to lick his lips, chuckling darkly as he rubs up and down your legs that were still shaking on his shoulders. “Did that feel good? You came so hard baby, looked so beautiful, so sexy. Just a few more and I think it’ll shake that stage fright, don't you? Then we can really show that doctor over there how your body should be worshiped”.
(Hey! engage in some way if you enjoyed! Tell me what you thought! Comments show I'm doing good, or what I can improve on :3 Thanks for reading! -Mommabean )

"Renjun...I'm leaving for America in two days." Yuri's sad voice echoed softly through the library.
"So?" I said in a slightly harsh and rude tone.
"What happens to us then?" She asked while looking down at her palms.
"What else?...we end it." I said in a cold tone making her look at me in surprise.
"What...why?" She questioned, tears pricking her eyes as I stood up.
"Simple...there's another girl who interests me...more than you do." I said making Yuri's eyes widen as she abruptly stood up.
"What do you mean...another girl?" She asked with a shake tone as I smiled.
"A girl who cares for me more, a girl who understands me more, a girl who doesn't force me to do things I don't want to...and most importantly...a girl who gave me the most precious thing she has...something you didn't give me ." I said with venom lacing each word.
"How...how could you?" She asked as now tears fell from her face.
"Simple...you were always too naive...too much of a daddy's girl, not wanting to cross him. So over time...the love died down and all that remained was just me playing along with your little games." I said with a smile and began walking out when a hard book hit the back of my head.
"You jerk! Just you wait...when I come back and take my father's place! No matter what the situation might be...whether it hurts just a little or whether you're fighting for your life...I won't save you!" She exclaimed as her voice pierced through my ear.
"Like I care! If anything, I'd rather die than have you take care of my injuries!" I said as anger entered my veins.
"Then die! You'd be doing the world a great favour by dying!" She exclaimed and threw another book at me which I caught.
"You can go die in America as well! I'm not coming to save you!" I exclaimed and threw the book towards her as she caught it and threw it to the ground.
"Who said I need you to save me?! I can take care of myself very well! Huang Renjun! I hate you!"

Renjun's
"Renjun...Renjun!" I snapped out of my daze when Taeil placed the bowl of chicken noodles I asked for infront of me.
"Oh...thanks." I said as he looked at me and patted my shoulder.
"You okay?" He asked as I nodded my head .
"Better than ever." I say with a small smile.
"Better than ever or worse than ever? No offense but you look worse than ever." Taeil said making me laugh as I took a sip of the noodle broth.
"None taken." I say as he laughed and sat on the chair across mine.
"You heard?" He questioned making me furrow my brows.
"What?" I asked as he cleared his throat and looked at me awkwardly.
"Uh...Yuri's coming back..." Taeil said making me shrug.
"So? Not my problem." I said and began eating the Ramen.
"So you're not even a little alarmed?" Taeil asked as I ignored him and continued eating.
"I was the one who ended it, why would I be alarmed?" I said earning a sigh from Taeil.
"I'm just saying that...you could've ended things on a good note...you didn't have to be so harsh." Taeil said in a soft tone making me sigh as I kept my chopsticks down.
"I was sick of her...what'd you expect?" I said as he got up and patted my shoulder.
"For all I know...that Renjun said what he said just because he wanted her to focus on her dream not because he was sick of her." Taeil said before leaving me alone to head back into the kitchen.

Yuri's
"Byee, I'll miss you guys!" I said as I walked through the hallway for the last time with my hands full of gifts and bouquets.
"Are you gonna walk around saying bye to everyone?" I looked infront of me to meet the owner of the voice.
"Ten!" I ran into my elder brother's welcoming embrace as he twirled me around and put me down.
"Ayy, you grew out your hair." He said and pressed a kiss to my forehead.
"Yup, oh...and who's this??" I said in a teasing tone as the person groaned and looked away.
"Aww, Yuta came to pick me up too??" I said and moved to hug him as he patted my back lightly.
"If you're done can you let go now?" He said as I gave him a tight hug and pulled away with a laugh.
"Okay, okay...but it does feel great to be picked up by two favourite nct members~" I said making Ten coo as we headed to the car.
×××
Renjun's
"Jeno, Jaemin...go get Yuri, Ten and Yuta from the airport. Their plane should arrive in a while." Taeyong said to his younger brother Jeno and Jaemin who nodded and left.
I let out a sigh as I found myself walking towards the kitchen where Taeil and his youngest son Taejun were talking to each other.
"Morning Renjun, do you want some tea?" Taeil asked to which I nodded.
"Yes, please. " I said and sat on the chair beside Taejun's.
"Uncle Jun, do you like dragons?" Taejun asked me making me sigh as I pretended to think.
"Mhh...yeah, especially fire dragons." I said earning a squeal from the 4 year old.
"Me too!" He said and showed off his favourite dragon plushie.
"Ah, I see you fixed mr. Firebelly's leg." I said referring to the dragon's leg which his brother tore off.
"Yes! Appa fixed it!" He said happily when Taeil ruffled his hair and handed me my tea.
"Jeno and Jaemin went to get them...feeling nervous?" Taeil asked making me break into a chuckle.
"Sounds like you're the one who's nervous.. but no, I don't care nor am I nervous." I replied as Taejun stared at me.
"Uncle Jun, who's coming?" Taejun asked me as I motioned to his father.
"Ask your appa, he's more closer to the visitors." I said earning a soft smack on the head from Kun who just entered with groceries.
"They're not visitors Jun, aigoo did Taejun finish his breakfast?" Kun cooed at the toddler who greeted him with a gummy smile as he nodded.
"Very good! Here's your dessert!" Kun cooed and handed Taejun a cookie from his grocery bag.
"Thank you uncle Kun!" The toddler said in a cute manner making me break into a smile as well.
"Taejun-ah, go change out of your pjs and come down quick okay? Your uncles and auntie are coming!" Taeil said in a sweet tone as his son obliged and went to his room.
"I wish for the day I have minions of my own." Kun said with a happy tone as he watched Taejun run away with his little body.
"No one's stopping you." I said in a nonchalant manner as I took a bite of my bread earning a flick on the back of my head from Kun.
"And until then, I need to take care of minions like these." Kun said with a scowl on his face.
"You two can take care of my kids until you have your own." Taeil said making me scoff.
"I did not say anything about wanting fatherhood." I said and kept my cup before going to my room.
"I'll be in the room." I said before leaving.
Yuri's
I smiled and opened my arms to hug Chenle who happily ran to my embrace.
"Lele~ you look so different!" I exclaimed making him chuckle.
"You too, I remember how you'd always complain and cut your hair even if it grew just one inch past your shoulder." He said with a smile as I laughed, reminiscing my past self.
"Are the rest home?" Ten asked Chenle who gave him a bro hug.
"Yup, wait...uhh...yup!" Chenle said making me ruffle his hair fondly.
"Let's meet everyone!"
How will Renjun and Yuri react to each other? Find out in the next chapter?!

euphoria endings: ryan murphy version
rue manages to stay clean and rekindles with jules. they fall in love again, healthily, and get married. despite her tumultuous teen years, she ends up with the most normal adult life out of everyone.
jules is happy with rue again. she has a relatively calm life, just like rue, however she was arrested for disorderly concert for crashing a concert of her former classmate, elliot, in the halfway mark of his 45 minute song when she yelled, “your song is too long and i can eat p*ssy better than you bitch.” she doesn’t get charged and rue approved of her actions so all is well.
maddy marries an old rich ass man, entertains him for a few years. she kills him by sneaking cobra venom into his food that she bought on ebay for $1000 and gets his inheritance. she uses this money to hire a hit on nate. the hitman’s style is unconventional, but it gets the job done. she lives in a mansion for the rest of her life and is never caught.
lexi goes famous on broadway but it’s only because she did a deal with the devil, or someone who claimed to be the devil, in exchange for 10 years of fame before she gets cancelled. she takes the deal and 10 years pass and nothing happens, so she thinks she’s in the clear, but eventually she gets the lea michele treatment and all her broadway costars say they hated her. but the REAL downfall is the master twitter thread made my an anonymous user. she takes a break from social media and uses feet pics as a means to make income. through that venture, she crosses paths with an old flame…
cassie surprisingly finds a job at the white house, working under the administration of president sue sylvester. sue found cassie crying behind a dumpster and said she would really be good at foreign relations and said she reminded her of a past student. sue heard about cassie’s life story and sympathizes with her, so sue funnels bots to a twitter thread made by cassie and helps it go viral. she becomes the catalyst for 100s of celeb cancellings, mostly conducted by sue. one time, sue said, “i don’t like abby lee miller, do something about it” and so, cassie did, which spiraled into abby lee miller going to jail for the 5th time.
fez gets out of prison after 20 years and pursues his dreams of becoming a farmer. he left the dealing lifestyle and pursued a career of becoming a feet pics site owner, which was wildly successful. he’s really rich now and he and maddy meet up at rich people functions like ones that involve eating really old cheese. one day, during his feet pic day job, he comes across some familiar feet. he finds out later they are indeed lexi’s feet and they reconnect. however, fez is disturbed to find out lexi made a deal with the devil. they argue on a couch about religion morals and lexi says she only did it because she thought he was the pretend devil.
kat and ethan reconnect after she sees him at one of lexi’s broadway shows. she actually works as a high fashion model in ny and used her savings allocated from her camming so she could move. on a popular woman’s podcast, she talks about how she knew she wanted her bf back when he did an outrageous performer during a school play which she frankly found attractive. internet sleuths find footage of ethan’s ‘i need a hero’ dance and he is hired by dance agencies. he climbs this ladder and eventually takes over abby lee miller’s dance studio while she’s in jail.
nate becomes head of east highland for some time, but he does a poor job managing the town and is loathed by its citizens. one time, he got an ashtray thrown in his face while giving a speech as the thrower yelled, “that’s for killing my plug bitch do you know mid laurie’s weed is??” he is later found dead after being strangled by a dinosaur floatie.

A thing I was thinking about these days is who I would list as Venom’s villains. Not as in everyone who was their antagonist ever, not even in who was the antagonist more times. Just the ones I think shone the most as their enemies. I came with:
Carnage, obviously
Lee Price, same
Tel-Kar, same same
The U.S. government
Carlton Drake (I don’t think I would find him as remarkable if I hadn’t watched the movie first, but also he’s up to shit again in both the current comics and LP 2 so here he is)
Jack O’Lantern
I’m not sure if I would list Peter? I think Venom is Peter’s enemy more than Peter is Venom’s enemy, does it make sense?
The malicious/corrupted Hive (the one that first imprisoned the symbiote and then invaded in Planet of the Symbiotes)
The benevolent Hive from Space Knight, while presented as an ally and not an enemy, has a big potential to be here too but since there wasn’t a lot of action in this sense in canon idk
Poisons
The Maker
Knull
But over the years, I think Venom’s greatest enemy and biggest villain is none other than:
Eddie Brock
Not even in a self hating, self destructive way, though that also happens. He did spend a lot of time hating the symbiote, tried to kill Flash!Venom, etc, etc. That whole thing was very remarkable to me.
Also, I mean, take The Hunger. Eddie had no intention of hurting the symbiote but he prove that he can get all the resources to fight them, as well as the courage to face them. When he has a good relationship with the symbiote he will go naked and bare handed rescue them from whatever without a second thought, but when he doesn’t he will attack with the same reckless intensity. Also his body literally created Anti-Venom!
So he is Venom’s enemy because 1) when he hates the symbiote, he hates them (and their host, to an extent) as much as he loves them when he loves them, having trying to kill both the symbiote and their host, that is, Venom 2) his foolishness make him do shit at times that disrupts his relationship with the symbiote therefore threatening the existence of his Venom 3) other bad choices of his are some of the causes (along with the symbiote’s choices, of course) for Venom being public enemy
Anyway, whether you all agree with my conclusions, who would you list as Venom’s villains?

Congratulations Weasley
Hi everyone!! This is for the lovely @heloisedaphnebrightmore ‘s 1k celebration! Congrats!! you totally deserve it! I really like this fic and i hope you all like it as well!
Summary: Fred Weasley has been completely insufferable and mean since third year. Unfortunately the reader still feels for him even after he takes his teasing too far
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Reader
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: Angst with a happy end
Tumblr media
You didn’t mean to blow up on him like that. You didn’t mean to be blinded by unadulterated rage and let those words leave your lips. But if you were being honest with yourself, he thoroughly deserved it. After years and years of letting his words carve chinks into your armor, you were through. You simply couldn’t handle it anymore.
You had sat in the common room in your favorite skirt, hands folded neatly in your lap. You kept reaching up to smooth your hair, attempting to look your best. Cormac was supposed to meet you in the common room at noon. He was supposed to escort you to Hogsmeade where you’d eat at Madame Pudifoot’s. It was supposed to be romantic.
You were excited; it was your first date after all. You didn’t quite know if you fancied Cormac. He was brash and occasionally rude, but the feeling of being wanted to outweigh his flaws. It was rare that a boy would give you attention, so when Cormac had suavely asked you out, you couldn’t help but become giddy.
Angelina and Katie had helped you pick out an outfit. It was simple- a black skirt and a simple sweater- but you felt pretty nonetheless.
So you sat and waited. And waited. And waited. For hours you sat on the same sofa in the same position, slowly letting your resolve disappear.
You didn’t know what you had expected. Cormac was known to be an arsehole. Yet, the sting of rejection still affected you, causing you to push back tears.
Around three in the afternoon, Katie and Angelina stepped through the portrait hole. They were laughing about something, smiling wide. But when they caught sight of you, their smiles dropped.
“(Y/n)?” Angelina said, furrowing her brow. She shrugged off her jacket and made her way towards you.
“What are you still doing here?” Katie asked. You just shrugged.
“Still waiting for Cormac I suppose,” was your response. Angelina and Katie shared a look of pity. You blinked back tears. Angelina sat down on the couch next to you and rubbed your shoulder.
“He never showed?” she asked softly. You shook your head. Katie sat on your other side and laid her head on your shoulder.
“Well, he’s an absolute git then,” she began, “Can’t see how great you are.” You smiled softly at her words.
“Thank you,” you said softly.
“I can’t believe he would do this,” Angelina said with a hint of anger lacing her voice.
“I can,” you said with a sniffle.
At that moment, the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan stumbled through the portrait hole. You felt yourself stiffen. You had been friends with Lee and George since first year when you had spilled pumpkin juice on Lee one morning. The two of them were great; always joking with you and always making you feel welcome. But Fred was a whole other story. You had been friends with him in your early years of schooling as well, with you developing a small crush on him in the process. It was a puppy love kind of crush. The kind that had you giggling with your girlfriends at thirteen.
But in fourth year something had shifted. While your feelings for him only become stronger, he seemed to develop a strong dislike for you. The usual playful teasing turned into something genuinely meant to sting. His words no longer carried a playful tone, but only one with venom. You weren’t sure what had caused him to hate you, but all you knew was that you couldn’t hate him.
The three of them stepped into the common room, cheeks still flushed from the late autumn chill. The boys had wide smiles on their faces, which only dropped when they saw you. Lee and George immediately took notice of the tear tracks that ran down your face and concern filled their eyes.
“(Y/n)?” George questioned, taking a step towards you. You simply shot him a weak smile. The boys made their way over to the sofa.
“Are you alright?” Lee asked softly. You opened your mouth to answer but Fred interrupted you.
“Oh what is it this time?” he asked with an eye roll. Your eyebrows shot up. You were not in the mood for his insults.
“Fred…” Angelina hissed in a low warning tone. Fred ignored her.
“You’re always so dramatic, crying at the drop of a hat,” he complained. George gave him a swift elbow to the ribs.
“George!” he cried, touching the now tender area.
“Well Fred, I’ll have you know that she has every right to be upset,” Katie said, glaring at him. Fred scoffed.
“I doubt it,” he said in a low tone before flopping into the armchair across from you.
“What was it this time? You didn’t get top marks on a potions essay?” he guessed, “oh wait no! I bet you snapped a quill. What a tragedy!”
“Shove off Fred,” you said in a low voice. He just sent you a glare.
“So what happened?” George asked with genuine concern. You looked down at your hands as you felt the tears begin to rise again.
“McLaggen stood her up,” Katie explained.
“What an arsehole,” Lee exclaimed, shaking his head. George and Lee tried their very best to comfort you, offering to get back at Cormac for you. Their ideas of how to prank him made you laugh, slightly alleviating your sadness.
“Well, I don’t know what you expected,” Fred said, interrupting his friends. You turned to him, frowning.
“Please stop Fred,” you said, “I’m not in the mood today.”
“Well, I mean why would he want to go out with you?” he continued anyway. Your mouth dropped open in shock.
“Fred quit it,” George whispered to his twin. Fred just waved him off.
“I mean come on, McLaggen goes out with loads of girl but even he isn’t that desperate,” he said, gesturing towards you. You felt your cheeks grow warmer with rage.
“Shut up,” you said quietly, but he pushed on.
“I’m happy for him,” Fred said with a smile. Angelina squeezed your shoulder.
“Fred stop it,” she said defensively.
“He dodged a bullet,” Fred said, leaning back with a smirk. You stood up suddenly, rage flowing through your veins.
“Fred Weasley what is wrong with you,” you shouted. Fred froze. You had never fought back before.
“Do you really hate me so much?” you questioned, “so much that you feel the need to spend every minute of your existence trying to make me feel miserable?” Your hot tears were flowing freely at this point. Fred just gaped at you, his mouth opening and closing as if attempting to force out a response.
“Because if that was your goal? Congratulations Weasley, you’ve accomplished it,” you said, glaring at him. You turned to storm up to the dormitory. He stood up now too, seemingly regaining her senses.
“(Y/n) wait!” he shouted after you. You turned around and looked at him.
“I wish I never met you,” you yelled back at him. And with that, you turned and ran from him, leaving your shocked friends behind you.
~~~~~
“I hate him,” you said, laying on your back and staring up at the canopy above your bed. You felt the bed dip as Angelina sat down beside you.
“Me too,” she said, giving you a look that let you know that she didn’t believe you. You groaned and hit her with your pillow. Katie flopped down on your other side.
“I don’t know Angie, I don’t care how long she’s fancied him. I’d hate him too after what he just said,” Katie added, agreeing with you. Angelina shook her head.
“I’m sure he didn’t mean it,” she said. You flipped over so you were now on your stomach and stared at her.
“Angelina you say that every time he says things like this. I don’t think I believe you anymore,” you said. Angelina just shook her head.
“I swear! Fred isn’t mean. He wouldn’t purposely hurt you,” she explained.
“Yeah, he’s not mean to you,” you huffed. Angelina just shrugged.
“Maybe he’ll apologize this time,” Katie speculated. As usual, she was looking on the bright side.
“I doubt it,” you scoffed, “Fred never apologizes.”
“He actually seemed pretty upset after you left,” Katie explained. Angelina nodded.
“Yeah he kept pacing and looking towards the stairs like he was waiting for you to come back down,” she added.
“I don’t care what he did after I left. Do you think an apology could fix this?” you questioned. Your friends looked down at your quilt, knowing that you were right. Even after years of hurtful teasing, Fred had never said anything quite like this before. You were finally fed up with his insults and digs at you. Even if your heart still slightly ached for him, you couldn’t allow yourself to keep hurting. You sat up suddenly and surely and held your head high.
“I am done with him. From this moment on I am getting over Fred Weasley.”
~~~~~
For weeks you avoided him. You left the Great Hall when he would arrive. You’d sit as far from him as possible in lessons, and if he was with your friends, you’d leave or pretend that he wasn’t there. You weren’t quite sure if it even mattered though. He hadn’t attempted to make another dig at you since that day in the common room. Angelina and Katie were impressed with you. They had not expected you to stay away from him for so long. In the past, if he had made fun of you you’d usually brushed it off and continue to grin and bear it. But it was your last year and you were determined to enjoy your remaining time at school. And that meant staying away from Fred.
Though this didn’t stop you from missing him occasionally. Sometimes as you fell asleep you envisioned his fiery red locks and his distinctive smokey scent. The scent that you had smelled in your amortentia in fifth year. You envisioned him apologizing to you and trying to right his wrongs. But it was just a fantasy.
~~~~~
You were sitting in the library, your defense against the dark arts assignment in front of you. You were focused, your eyes scanning your textbook when someone sat across from you. You looked up and met eyes with none other than Cormac McLaggen. You narrowed your eyes. He hadn’t spoken to you since the day he stood you up.
“Hey (Y/n),” he said with a smirk.
“What do you want McLaggen?” you asked.
“Ouch. I thought we were on a first-name basis,” he said with mock offense. You rolled your eyes.
“No. You lost that privilege when you left me waiting for you in the common room instead of taking me out on our date,” you responded. McLaggen just laughed.
“Didn’t I apologize for that? I’m pretty sure I did,” he said. You scoffed.
“You didn’t. And even if you did apologize I wouldn’t be interested,” you answered. He just pouted at you in response.
“Come on, why don’t we give it another go? You and me at the black lake after dinner,” he said. You groaned.
“No. Now please leave me alone,” you answered. He furrowed his brows.
“Oh don’t be so whiny. Just meet me there after dinner,” he said, appearing frustrated. You opened your mouth to respond but were cut off by another voice.
“She said no mate.” You turned around to see none other than Fred Weasley. McLaggen scowled at him.
“This isn’t any of your business Weasley,” he said. Fred sat down in the chair next to you.
“She’s my friend so I reckon that it is my business,” he answered defensively. McLaggen stiffened.
“You heard him,” you piped up, “leave me alone.” And with that, McLaggen stood up and walked away.
“You’re not getting another chance,” he said over his shoulder. You rolled your eyes.
“Good,” you retorted. After he had left you turned to Fred.
“Thank you,” you said curtly. He just nodded but made no move to leave the table. After a moment of silence, you began to hurriedly pack your things, determined to continue avoiding him.
“(Y/n), please,” he said, reaching for your arm. You scoffed and pulled it away.
“What do you want Weasley?” you asked. Fred flinched at your use of his last name.
“I just want to talk,” he answered. You continued to shove your things in your bag.
“I’m not interested in talking to you,” you responded. He let out a frustrated huff.
“I can tell. All you’ve done is avoid me,” he said. You paused and looked at him.
“Do you really think I’d be interested in seeing you after what you said to me? After all you’ve said to me?” you huffed. Fred looked down and gulped ashamedly.
“No,” was his response. You just shook your head and stalked out of the library.
~~~~~
After the library incident, Fred seemed to be on a mission. What his plan was, you weren’t sure, but you were on your guard. He timed his mornings so he could force himself beside you at the breakfast table. He would pour you your orange juice himself. During free time, he’d sit near you in the common room and attempt to make you laugh, telling over the top jokes. And the insults had stopped, the factor that had surprised you the most. Suddenly there was a new version of Fred in your life. Or rather, an old version that you hadn’t seen since third year. It confused you and you weren’t sure what his end game was.
One night you were sitting alone in the common room. Angelina and Katie had gone upstairs already but you continued to work on your potions essay beside the fire. You heard the portrait hole open and you turned to see the twins stumble through. It was well past curfew and you were certain the Filch was hot on their tail. George spotted you and waved before heading towards the boy’s dorms. Fred shot you a small smile but lingered in the center of the room. You sent him a curious gaze before returning to your assignment. After a moment you felt the sofa dip and saw that Fred had sat down beside you.
“Can we talk?” he asked. It was the same question that he had asked you weeks before in the library. You sighed.
“Fred I told you that I wasn’t interested in talking to you,” you replied, rubbing your temples.
“Please (Y/n),” he said, his eyes pleading with you.
“Fine,” you responded, “what do you have to say.” Fred looked down at his lap.
“I am so so sorry (Y/n). For what I said that day and for everything I said before,” he said. You scoffed.
“Do you really expect sorry to be enough?” you asked. He closed his eyes and shook his head.
“I never meant to hurt you,” was all he said. You felt yourself become angry again.
“Never meant to hurt me? What a load of rubbish! How did you think I would feel every time you insulted me?” you asked with a huff. Fred grabbed your hands.
“You seemed like you had a thick skin and I was stupid-” his voice was thick with emotion as you pulled your hands away and cut him off.
“None of that is a good enough excuse,” you said.
“I’m so sorry,” he murmured once again. You gathered your things and made a move to get up. Fred made no attempt to stop you. You turned to head towards your room but hesitated.
“Fred I just need to ask you one thing,” you said as you slowly turned to face him. He looked at you with wide and hopeful eyes.
“Ask me anything. Anything at all,” he answered.
“Why. Why did you spend years being so terrible to me,” you asked, hoping for an answer to the questioned you had tortured yourself with for years.
“Because I’m in love with you,” he answered without a beat. Your mouth dropped open.
“What?” you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
“I was in love with you and I knew you would never feel the same. It felt better to distance myself than to pine,” he continued. You felt as if your heart had dropped into your stomach. The words that you had wanted to hear for years had finally been spoken but all they did was cause you pain.
“I never thought about how it would affect you,” he said honestly, “I was selfish.” You just gaped at him, unsure of what to say. You almost didn’t trust yourself to say anything. You were afraid that if you spoke you would just drop into his arms and let your resolve crumble, allowing yourself to say the same words back. But you knew that you couldn’t do that. Not when the pain of his words still stung like a fresh wound.
“I don’t know what you want me to say,” you said after what felt like hours of silence.
“Well I had hoped that you felt the same,” he said, “but I expected you to slap me and storm off.” You almost smiled at his weak attempt at a joke.
“Fred I-” you started.
“It’s okay you don’t need to say anything,” he said, cutting you off. He stood up and made his way towards the stairs.
“I really am sorry,” he said once more before he began to ascend. You watched him leave.
“Fred wait!” you called after him. He turned to look at you. “I admit that I feel something for you,” you said. Fred began to smile.
“(Y/n) that’s-” you held your hand up to cut him off.
“But I can’t just allow myself to be with you. To just pretend that you never hurt me,” you said, “I’m worth more than that.” Fred nodded.
“You are. But I swear, I will spend every minute trying to prove to you that I love you. And I hope that someday you’ll give me a chance,” he said earnestly. You gave him a small smile.
“Good luck then,” you said, before turning around and scurrying up the stairs.
~~~~~
Fred kept true to his word and tried his best to win you over. He followed you around like a lost puppy, giving you small gifts and compliments. You always thanked him but never let your guard down as he doted on you. You were always afraid that things would go back to how they used to. But they never did. You began to look forward to classes when he would pass you short notes with jokes on them or when he would try to make you laugh from the other side of the room. You began to enjoy it when he would come to bother you in the library when you tried to study. He would try to distract you by playing with our hair or dramatically laying across the table. You started to look forward to his interruptions. Slowly your guard began to fall, but you were still careful with yourself and with your heart. But it seemed that Fred was as well.
~~~~~
The seasons began to change and so did your feelings for Fred. You found yourself daydreaming about him more often than before. And somewhere deep in the back of your mind, you allowed yourself to play with the idea of being with him. He was slowly repairing the heart that he had broken. After the Easter holidays, you found yourself alone with him by the black lake. You leaned under a tree with a book in your hand and he laid beside you.
“(Y/n),” he whined, “I’m bored.” You rolled your eyes at him.
“You could go find George or Lee and do something. No one’s forcing you to be out here,” you said with a smile. He sat up and smiled at you.
“But you’re out here. Where else would I want to be,” he said. You felt your face heat up as you shoved his shoulder.
“Oi! What was that for woman!” He yelled, playing throwing a handful of grass at you.
“Freddie!” you squealed, not realizing that you’d let his nickname slip past your lips. He froze.
“You haven’t called me that since third year,” he said quietly. You smiled.
“Well you haven’t been this nice to me since third year,” you answered teasingly. Fred ducked his head. The two of you sat in comfortable silence for a few moments. You allowed yourself to stare at him unashamedly. His cheeks were flushed from the warm spring weather as he played with the grass on his robes. His hair was tousled and unkempt and you felt yourself reach out to fix it. He looked up at you with his jaw slacked as you ran your fingers through his hair.
“There,” you said, “all better.” He grinned at you, making you flush. You moved your hand from his hair and moved it to rest on his cheek. Fred placed his hand over yours as he leaned into your touch.
“I love you,” he murmured softly, too enamored with you to even realize that he said it. Your smile only widened.
“I love you too,” you responded softly. Fred’s eyes widened as he realized what you had said. His smile stretched impossibly wide.
“Did I hear that right? Did you just say that you loved me?” he asked teasingly. You rolled your eyes with a smile.
“Yes. I love you, idiot,” you replied. He immediately tackled you with a hug, causing you to squeal with laughter. He leaned down and pressed a chaste kiss to your lips. It was a clunky first kiss. A first kiss interrupted by lovesick smiles and laughter.
“You love me!” he exclaimed loudly causing you to giggle. You just leaned up and gave him a quick peck.
“Congratulations Weasley,” you said, “You’ve accomplished your goal.”

Thanks to everyone for reading and thanks in advance for all your feedback. :)
I really hope you enjoy. 💋
<3 As usual, I’d appreciate if you let me know what you think with a like or reblog or reply or an ask! Love ya!
Tumblr media
You slurped the last of your shake through the straw, the paper cup damp in your cold hands as the heater blew out hot air. The foamy dregs of the drink were overly sweet and made your cheeks twinge. Lee popped the lid off his cup and offered it and you slipped yours inside. He pulled the straw out and stacked the lids, squeezing both straws through and setting it on the seat beside him.
He stretched his arm over the leather, his hand just behind your head and you listened to the deep voice of the narrator recount the eerie words of HP Lovecraft. You fidgeted and looked at your watch. The sky was dark and the stars twinkled down ominously.
“Um,” you uttered, “I think... uh…”
He looked at you and his hand hovered close to your shoulder, “what is it, honey?”
“I think I should get home,” you finished.
“Oh, why’s that? You don’t got class tomorrow, do ya?”
“I don’t but… well, I’m tired,” you rubbed your neck and sat up so he couldn’t touch you, “I had an early morning.”
“Well, of course,” he retracted his arm and straightened up, he pulled the car into gear and slowly pressed down on the gas, “you should get to bed, little girl.”
You scowled at the venom in his last two words. He’d been nice but he had no right to patronize you. You hated that most. People thought because you were quiet they could just treat you like you were dull.
“I’m not… not a little girl,” you eked out.
“Ah, I didn’t mean nothing by it,” he said as he pulled out of the lot, “you are little though, ain’t ya?”
You felt a peculiar heat creep up your neck and cheeks. You were short but you’d met a few people smaller than you. People came in all shapes and sizes. You didn’t comment on his stomach or the wrinkles around his eyes. Yet, the humour in his voice kept you from rebuke.
“I guess, I…”
‘I don’t mean it as an insult, you see?” he chuckled, “kinda cute you can’t reach the floor.”
“Mmm,” you inhaled and pursed your lips. You pulled the collar of your pea coat closed and wiggled your foot nervously.
“I see,” he said, “you got your friends waitin’ on ya, huh? Yeah, young girl like you don’t wanna be hanging around an old man all night.”
“I didn’t say that,” you said.
“Hey, I’m not stupid, I was only bein’ nice,” he interrupted, “you looked lonely and I… I got carried away.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t…” you scrambled as he passed by the college entrance, “I was… I don’t know.”
“Well, you’re in such a hurry, honey, you can’t wait to be away from me,” he ranted, “actin’ all sweet and shy but you just like the rest of them.”
“What?” you grimaced and watched the buildings pass by, “no, I’m not. I…” you felt guilty as if you’d done something wrong. All you wanted was to go home and lay down, but it felt like a personal affront. “I… lied.”
“What?” he asked as your voice fizzled.
“I lied, sir,” you confessed, “I don’t have any friends. Not really, just… classmates.”
“Nah, that can’t be true,” he scoffed, “who wouldn’t wanna be friends with a pretty girl like you?”
“No, no, please, I… I’m sorry, I just want to go home, okay? I’m tired,” you cupped your cheek and slumped in defeat.
He was quiet for a moment as he drove along. He turned along the line of residences and streetlights flashed over his profile as he stared at the road. He flipped into park as he stopped in front of your building and nodded.
“Alright, I believe you,” he said at last, “I don’t wanna keep you up and I didn’t mean to get so upset. It's just, well, I like being with you.”
“It’s fine, thank you… for everything. The milkshake was good.”
“No, I mean it, it’s a pity no one else can see it,” he went on, “you’re real smart and nice. You got a pretty smile too when you show it, too.”
“Thank you,” you said quietly as you gripped the door handle, “that’s very kind. I should go--”
“Wait, wait,” he caught your arm, not tightly, but kept you from getting out as the door opened an inch, “can I come back? Next week, we’ll have another shake and listen to the show. I’m really curious what happens.”
“I don’t know, I… I have lots of work to do,” you looked at his large hand on your arm. He dropped it and wiped his palm on his brown pants.
“You bring your homework, honey, you can study and listen, I don’t mind,” he offered, “if you don’t want a shake, we can get some burgers and fries. Have a nice dinner?”
You smushed your lips together and thought. He hadn’t done anything bad enough to warrant that feeling in your gut. You were overthinking things just like you always did. Besides, he had to be almost fifty, he was just being friendly, he said it himself.
And what else did you have to do? You didn’t have any friends and it was too late to start making them.
“I… okay,” you said softly, “my book club ends at seven. It’s over at Clover Hall.”
“I’ll find you there then,” he smiled, “now go on, before I keep you out any later.”
You got out and scooped out your bag with you. You closed the door and headed up the path without looking back. You got to the door and focused on unlocking it. Your hands were shaking and your mind was reeling. You always lamented being little more than a fly on the wall but it was completely overwhelming to be noticed.
📚
You clacked away on the keys of your typewriter. Your dorm room was small and stuffy as dry heat rose from the dingy old radiator. You could hear your roommates in the kitchen as they gabbed and laughed loudly. You were jealous yet too intimidated to try and ingratiate yourself. You always just ended up in the corner as everyone else had fun.
Your assignment was to write a review of a primary resource borrowed from your visit to the archive. You carefully looked over the laminated manuscript between sentences. Your small radio played in the background and you couldn’t help but nod to the full tones of the jazzy music.
You were drawn from your entranced study by a knock at your door. It was unusual to be disturbed unless there were chores to dole out. You didn’t have time to wipe up their messes again. You got up and went to the door and opened it an inch.
“Hi,” you said meekly as Gina stood with a box in her hands.
“This is for you,” she held out the package, “it was down at the residence office.”
“Me?” you let the door fall open and took the box, “I don’t…” You looked it over but there was no address, only your name, “thank you.”
She left without another word and you nudged the door shut with your elbow as you turned. Your parents only sent you letters, they didn’t like to pay the pricy postage for a whole package. You put the box down on your single bed and peeled back the brown tape. The flaps came open and you peeked inside curiously.
You took out the skirt, a yellow plaid piece shorter than anything you’d ever owned. It was the new style found on the cover of Vogue. You put it aside and reach for the blouse, a pure white thing with bell sleeves. Lastly, a pair of knee high heels to top off the mod look.
There was an envelope amid it all, the note inside short and scribbled.
‘Saw this and thought of you, honey.’
You stared at the paper and folded it back up. It was a nice gesture but you couldn’t wear that. You couldn’t accept the gift either, it was too much. Every garment you owned was second-hand and you’d seen the prices of these clothes in the magazines.
And, you wondered as you packed the box and shoved it against the wall, why would the sheriff buy you all that? His friendliness made you uneasy. It was suffocating and yet, you could find no fault in someone being too generous.
You realised too, how little you knew about him. What if he had wife or even a family? What if he didn’t? What if he was only doing it to fill in some gap in his life? Maybe he was playing out some father-daughter relationship he never had.
Well, you could ask him next time you saw him. Or try to.

Just leave.
Just leave.
Just leave.
Like a cruel rhythm or a drum that keeps on beating in your chest to remind you of the pain that rips through your heart.
You’re such a fool, Y/N.
Should you blame them for growing tired of you? Even snapping at you like they did, or did you deserve it? It was so easy for you to wither back into the mindset your father had trained you to adapt at the slightest intrusion. Now, after that massacre in the kitchen with the people you trusted with your whole being, you weren’t sure if it was possible to think otherwise.
Through the warm tears that have clouded your eyes, frantically stuffing the little belongings you have into a backpack is otherworldly difficult. Your heart hurts. Your soul hurts. Your entire being hurts and you can only wonder how many times a person can be pushed aside and unwanted until they just completely break. You wonder how close you are to that point.
There’s anger running through your veins, cocktailed with devastation and confusion, but you’re not sure what it is you’re angry at. Were you angry at them? Could you ever be angry at them, even after they did something like this? You weren’t sure what to feel anymore, but that wasn’t important.
There was one objective in sight: pack up and get the hell out before you let anyone else completely destroy you.
But even then, you can’t help but to think about how they hadn’t even bothered to come after you. None of them did. And it ignites a different fire of pain that you’re finding harder to ignore. You’re halfway through shoving your shirts into the backpack when a soft voice sounds from your doorway. Jun is standing there, fiddling with her apron and warm sympathy on her face.
“Y/N, sweetie, they’re just...maybe give them some time. Please don’t go”, Jun sighs.
“No, Jun. They don’t want me here anymore”, your voice cracks at the realization. “I’m not going to stay and be unwanted. I won’t do it again. I-I can’t.”
When the last item is tucked into the pocket of your bag, you swing it onto your shoulder. The weight of the backpack feels as though it’s pulling you deeper into the ground. Like you are sinking and there is nothing you can do but wait until your head is submerged.
“Jun…” you breathe out, wiping away a warm stray tear, “could you...could you tell them that I’m sorry? I-I’m not sure what for, I guess for everything. But could you just tell them?”
Jun nods solemnly, though the reluctance is clear on her expression. Even she can recognize that you have nothing to apologize for. “I will, honey. Are you sure about this?”
“I have no choice, Jun. I love them and I-” you cut yourself off.
This is the first time you’ve been able to say it out loud. You love them. You’ve fallen in love with them and the timing could not be worse. But all in all, you consider yourself lucky. There was no way you would have recovered if you confessed and all seven of them inevitably rejected it. Perhaps this fight just saved you the great pain of knowing they cannot love you back.
“And I need to go.”
You’d have to leave before dinner. Through the back door.  The one that no one thinks you know about but as always, no man gives you nearly enough credit as you deserve. You’ll tell the guards you’re going out for a walk and pray they don’t question the overstuffed backpack you’re hauling. You’ll just open it and run and…
Find a new home? A new life? Find a new set of souls that will cherish and care for you and make you feel like you’re actually meant to be in this world?
You love them. That much you know is true. And perhaps people like you weren’t meant to have love in this world.
Tumblr media
“You’re excused, Lee. Be grateful you’re still here.” The venom in Namjoon’s voice remains clear as day, even after your ungraceful departure from the kitchen. You had left so abruptly with so few words that they weren’t able to even try and stop you.
They still can’t see straight through the searing anger that pulses through their entire being. Anger at the world, and the traitors, and the idiotic rookie that lost them thousands in shipments.
But the anger at you had faded a long time ago, the moment you bolted out of the kitchen and up the stairs. However, the boys were nothing if not stubborn. Why did you have to get in the way of their business? Why couldn’t you just remain kept away, for them to keep safe and away from the dangers of the outside world?
Jimin is the first one to make a move to the staircase, up to where you were packing, trying to be stealthy until the leader catches a glance of him.
“Jimin. Stop. Just let her cool off”, Namjoon sighs, pinching the space between his eyebrows to relieve his tension headache. He was usually the sensible one. The leader of the pack telling everyone to keep their cool. But the load on his shoulders has been getting far too heavy and you were the light breeze that caused it to collapse.
“You should wait to calm down before you talk to her, anyway. That vein in your forehead might pop out of your skin”, Hoseok snidely remarks.
Jimin scoffs, running a hand through his hair for the umpteenth time that day.
“Everything we’ve been doing has been for her best interest. Why is she making this so difficult?”, he exhales, frustration still licking at every word. But with a mere glance at Jimin, anyone in the room could tell that he truly held no antipathy towards you. That his words were coming from an unresolved pool of anger that had been bubbling away for ages.
“You don’t think she means it, do you?”, Taehyung mutters, eyebrows still creased in intensity. “The leaving part?”
“Where could she go Taehyung? We’re all she has at this point”, Yoongi speaks. A layer of irony coats the room as Yoongi remembers the words he had spat at you in the heat of the moment. A vicious declaration to tell you to leave, and he feels a string of guilt twining itself around his lungs. He numbs it away, of course. As he does everything else.
Jin takes a deep breath. “Listen, we’re all stressed and sleep-deprived. Why don’t we just calm down separately and talk it over at dinner? I’m sure by then, this whole thing will be completely forgotten.” His words sound sure and steady. Jin hopes they don’t notice the worry that bleeds into his voice.
A chorus of agreements and hums quietly sound across the room as the seven of them shuffle out of the kitchen and slowly saunter into their respective rooms. And as they tiptoe past your bedroom, where your door was shut tight, the boys can’t help but feel the rationality that has begun to trickle back in. The logic and reason that had abandoned them during the fight had slowly returned, and the thought of you on the other side of that door made them all want to barge in and hold you again.
Maybe they overreacted. Maybe they were wrong. Pride, however, was a stern mistress, and the potential consequences of their actions hadn’t yet reached their thoughts. They hadn’t realized the poison of their words.
 They would wait a bit longer.
Everything would be okay after dinner.
Tumblr media
The first thing you realize after leaving is that you chose the wrong pair of shoes to attempt an escape on foot. Of course, you had to be wearing the new ones that the boys just bought you that hadn’t been broken in yet. The heel was digging into your skin painfully, undoubtedly leaving red marks and calluses. Your feet ached with every step, but you had to soldier on. At least until you found somewhere to rest for a bit and figure out where the hell you would go.
 A glance down at your phone has you eternally grateful for your past self for remembering to charge it. Hopefully it would last you until you found somewhere for the time being.
There was no more family in the country besides your immediate ones. And you’d rather swallow knives than go back to that. The thought of them makes you sad though when you remember Soyeon.
 You wonder how she’s doing. The things she’s been up to. Is she shopping as much as she always does? Is she happy? Does she miss you? The train of thought makes you scoff at your own patheticism. Even after everything, you couldn’t find it in yourself to hate her. You would always love your sister.
The Bangtan manor hadn’t been as far away from the city as you had thought. On the other hand, you weren’t exactly paying attention to the time. Just let your feet carry you where they wanted to and stared blankly at the passing ground, trying to empty your thoughts as best you could. The sky was beginning to darken and the wind blew a bit colder but you refused to let it slow your pace. You couldn’t let yourself feel. Not yet, anyway.
The first motel you see is the one you enter. It’s not grand by any means; more of a fixer-upper. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet reeked of age and dust, and the receptionist was chewing gum and scrolling absentmindedly on her phone. The place was a dump compared to what the likes of you tended to live in. But you had limited cash, and this would have to do.
It takes you three times clearing your throat for her to notice that a customer was at the front desk.
“Hello. I’d like a room with one bed, please.”
She doesn’t hide her blatant scrutinization of you, visibly looking you up and down with something akin to disapproval. Her phone is tossed on the counter annoyedly and she snaps her gum, wheeling her chair closer to the computer and clacks away on the keyboard.
“ID and payment, please”, she drones, holding out a hand without sparing you another glance. When she looks at the card you have placed in her palm, there is a spark of recognition. The Yoo family name. She must have seen your name in the paper or something. The ambassador’s daughter. In a place like this?
You are eternally grateful when the receptionist says nothing; just hands you back your card and dangles a key from her red-nail polished index finger. You two exchange no more words. The only sounds in the lobby are the clinking of the metal key, the padding of your footsteps on soft carpet, and the smacking of the bubblegum between her lips. But it is enough to begin to allow the loneliness in. The fear of it all. The uncertainty and utter devastation that you have left behind the one place that had just started to feel like home.
When the door of your motel room closes, and it is just you...
You with the clothes on your back, the necessities in your bag, and all the feelings you have kept bottled up for weeks on end. It is more than easy to collapse in a cathartic heap as soon as the lock clicks in place.
Who cares if the walls are paper-thin? You scream it out on the undoubtedly dirty floors. The agony of being so close to happiness only to have it ripped away from your hands. The pain of knowing them, only for them to push you out of their lives.
You don’t weep for anyone else. Not the seven boys you loved, not Soyeon, not your father, not Jun.
You cry for Y/N.
You cry for the realization that maybe the thing you’ve been chasing your entire life is simply not in reach. That peace was something you had to fight for, completely alone. That they don’t love you back, or even nearly as much as you loved them. If they did, you wouldn’t be here, desperately trying to hold yourself together for what seems like the billionth time. If they loved you back, well...you reckon that reality only exists in your surreal dreams.
There were distant cousins. In the states. And if you could get a hold of them, you had faith they would be willing to fly you over. You could spin an excuse at the drop of a hat. Maybe something about wanting to see America for a while and get away from your normal routine in Seoul. Something about needing space or enjoying time with missed relatives. They’d believe it. You’ll leave as soon as you can, hopefully in the morning.
Naturally, this night is sleepless and you swear the sky is darker than usual. It’s starless, and even the moon is nowhere to be seen, hidden behind overcast clouds and you want to cry even more. Because after everything, is it still too much to let you feel the light? Is it still too much to let you rest under a gentle nightscape?
You make a promise to yourself. To Y/N.
You wouldn’t let her chase after pipe dream happiness anymore. You wouldn’t let her be so naive, so hopeful for something better. You’ve had your chance at finding it, and after more bumps and bruises, have come to the conclusion that maybe it merely does not exist for you.
You promise her a lifetime of loneliness and solitude. But those are familiar things. Comfortable things. And you would take that over a broken heart any day.
Tumblr media
As soon as they fell onto their respective beds, all seven of them had drifted off to sleep. It seemed that days of constant work, chugging black coffee, and pulling consecutive all-nighters had taken its toll, and the boys finally caught up to the pure, unadulterated exhaustion.
The seven of them slept through the night, plans of dinner completely forgotten as they glued themselves to the comfortable bedding. Unfortunately, with needed rest came a clear mind and the realization that they had been completely and utterly horrible to you ever since it all went down.
Jungkook is the first to wake up. He brushes his teeth and slips on an outfit with a rapid fervor, ready to put everything behind him and just...hold you. Because he realizes it’s been weeks since he actually has, and maybe that’s just the thing he’s been needing. To feel your frame in his arms and hear your soft breathing.
“Taehyung! Get up!” Jungkook pounds on the door of his hyung’s room. He hears shuffling from the other side, and a rustled bedhead emerges from a dark cavern.
“What Jungkook? It’s too early for this”, he grumbles, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
“Hyung we all slept like the dead through dinner. I’d rather not let this whole thing with Y/N marinate for any longer. Get up and let’s talk it through, I know you miss her like crazy too.” Jungkook does his best to keep his voice down since you were still sleeping in the room beside Taehyung’s. He has to round up all of them first before asking you to come out.
So he does. Sweeps his floor and the one above to awaken the other six men. Jin and Namjoon were the only others who were dressed and ready to tackle the day. The rest of them moved like zombies to rid themselves of the sleepy fatigue.
Somehow, they all manage to congregate in front of your door, nervously staring it down while the tension in the air choked them. It’s unnerving. The radio silence coming from your room. You must be really upset, and reasonably so. Hoseok clears his throat, twisting his hands together out of nerves, and glances at the others.
“Well? Should I knock?”, he whispers. The other six nod solemnly, glaring at the door like it might combust at any moment.
He steps forward gingerly and raps on your bedroom door thrice. The seconds trickle by like molasses, even slower when there is no sound from your end.
 He knocks again.
 Nothing.
 A third time.
Complete and utter silence.
“Y/N?”
Hoseok’s eyebrows deeply furrow, and with trepidation, he twists the doorknob and swings it open. The bedsheets are made, duvet untouched and pillows stacked neatly against the headboard. The curtains are drawn and everything looks fairly clean. Almost as if there was no one in there in the first place. Now that he looks closer, the only sign of you being there was the vase of brown and wilting peonies on the bedside table. The ones they had gotten for you months ago. Even your scarce amount of belongings were nowhere to be found.
In the ache of the silence, nothing can be heard but their utter shock. Their minds jumping to the worst conclusion but still in denial because there’s no way that you would do that. No way they could have lost you when they all loved you so much.
“M-maybe she’s in the basement. Or the library. I’m sure she didn’t….she hasn’t….”, Jimin cuts himself off as he drifts off into all the terrible possibilities. Namjoon yells at the guards downstairs from the second floor, and the sounds of their rushed footsteps to find you in this giant house is the only noise that reaches their ears.
“Jun!” Taehyung hollers down below, where she is undoubtedly fussing away in the kitchen or slaving over a boiling pot. The woman calmly emerges upstairs with a sharp gaze, head held high and shoulders stiff in her posture. There is no emotion on her face, except the faint disappointment as she stands in front of the seven men.
“Where is she?”, Yoongi growls, stepping forward like a huffing beast, but Jun remains unbothered.
“Where is who?” Jun monotones.
“Don’t play dumb, Jun. Where is Y/N?” She scoffs at the concern dripping in Yoongi’s voice. How ironic that the very person who maliciously told you to leave was now in pieces at your absence.
“I was surprised you even noticed. It’s not something you’ve been doing as of late. Noticing”, Jun calmly retorts. She’s never been one to be afraid of them. Never scared to stand up to them, because though they were grown men, they often still needed some mothering.
“What the fuck does that even mean?” Jungkook spits, frustratedly gripping at his hair.
“Is it not true, boys? Y/N’s been practically invisible to you these past few weeks. Who knew it would take a mere fight to finally get you guys to pay attention to her.” Jin’s reflex is to immediately respond with an argument. But the words die on his tongue when he realizes the truth in Jun’s statement.
The seven of them stare at her in silence, still high-strung on stress and anger, but intent to listen to her words.
“She left.”
The two words that they had been so desperate not to hear sound like a death knell when they fall from Jun’s lips. Their blood runs cold, and the temperature in the house drops to subzero. A moment frozen in time and all they can do is be forced to come to terms with their actions . The room immediately explodes into desperate questions and exclamations to their head housekeeper.
“Where is she? Did she say where she’s going”, Hoseok tearily yells.
“Did she leave a note?” Jungkook chews on his lower lip until it bleeds.
“When did she leave? She couldn’t have gotten far.” Jimin grabs Jun by the shoulders, forcing her closer as if he could look in her eyes and pretend she was lying.
“Excuse me if I am speaking out of turn, Sir”, Jun clears her throat, “but what did you think was going to happen?”
The seven of them are stunned into silence, swimming in utter confusion and worry about where in the world you could be. If you were in danger at all.
“She’s been left by herself for weeks. In this big, cold house while you all were wrapped up in your business. Tried talking to you so many times, but you all pushed her away.” Jun sighs disappointedly.
Her words ring with truth, and perhaps that is the most painful part about it all. The boys can’t do anything but stand there and listen. You were dear to Jun, and she wouldn’t let the fear of standing up to her intimidating bosses keep her from saying the things you didn’t have the courage to.
“Y/N, she...she’s been struggling. Did she tell you that? Wouldn’t sleep for days, so I sometimes snuck melatonin into her afternoon tea. But still, she’d come out of that bedroom with dark circles that almost looked painful. I’m surprised you didn’t hear her toss and turn all night, Taehyung.” Jun spares him a glance. Not malicious or accusing. Just genuine curiosity and it makes Taehyung want to burrow himself into the ground.
Namjoon’s heart drops as Jun continues speaking. How could they have been so oblivious to everything? So out of touch and wrapped up in other priorities that they seemed to completely forget about you? Arguably the most important person in their life.
“Sometimes, she even refused to eat. Couldn’t even stomach a cup of soup, and she’s gotten so thin, I had to tailor all her clothes.”
Jin’s eyes widen at the statement, his throat in knots and the sinking feeling in his gut only magnifying. Like ice water to warm skin. That’s how Jun’s words felt to their system. Like they had been so blind this entire time, so distracted by everything else that they forgot someone who had become one of the most important people to them.
“Forgive me for speaking my truth, sir. But I’ve never quite felt such disappointment when I heard the things you said to Y/N yesterday. A-And I don’t condone her decision to leave. But can you blame her?” Jun sighs, exasperated as her worry for you seeps into her consciousness.
Jimin pushes away the tears that have clouded his eyes, looking down at the marble floors so that no one sees the gloss that wasn’t there before Jun started speaking. He pretends not to notice the way Jungkook’s tremulous and shaky breathing, or the way Yoongi’s fisted hands have turned completely white from the tension. All he can think about...all they can think about...is you.
Hoseok coughs, clearing his throat and steeling his voice to not show emotion. “Did she tell you where she was going?”
Jun shakes her head solemnly, twisting her apron in her hands. The boys begin to make their way downstairs, tension in the air thicker than ever and only one priority clear in their minds.
“However…”, Jun’s small voice stops them in their concentrated footsteps. “While she was packing, she told me to say one thing to you all.”
It’s expectant. They almost don’t want to hear it at all. Hearing it would affirm that they are completely undeserving of you. That you are an angel among beasts whose love language is to destroy and wreck. That maybe leaving them would be the best thing to happen to you.
“She told me to tell you she’s sorry. For everything.”
Everything is what you deserved. Everything is what they would do to prove that to you.

Korea from the view of your aunt’s private jet was a bittersweet revelation. It was beautiful. So achingly and hauntingly beautiful with the ghosts of your past and the shattered promises for the future. If you squint, you could still make out remnants of the Han River. Traces of a place that seemed to cry for you as you left for the states.
You didn’t want to be truthful to yourself. You didn’t want to admit that you wouldn’t miss Korea because of the people or the landscape or the weather. You’d miss it because they were there. That home had been so close you could nearly taste it.
The trip was a chaotic blur. You faded in and out of sleep, in a hypnotic trance that proved to be your body’s self-defense mechanism to repress every emotion you had felt since you left. Stewardesses offering you flutes of champagne, drivers loading and unloading your luggage, the words of everyone around you flowing in and out like a stream of water that you ignored.
“I trust everything is to your satisfaction, Y/N? Really, you must come visit more often. Your uncle and I have missed you terribly.”
Your aunt had always been a kind woman. She was from your mother’s side, and like everyone else, so oblivious to the true nature of the Yoo family. How sinister things truly were behind those closed, gold-plated doors. Their house was grand, large enough so that you could make yourself scarce and wouldn’t be a disturbance. Though you couldn’t help but to notice the lack of boyish voices drifting down the hall, or the rhythm of Taehyung’s hands on the keyboard in the room next to you.
You offer a kind smile to the butler, who gently sets your singular backpack on the plush bed that screamed out your name.
“Thank you so much for everything, Aunt Kim. I promise I’ll transfer over the money for the plane fees and carry my weight around here for the time being.”
Your words make you nearly wince with the uncertainty of your wobbly plans. Where would you even get the money? Ask your father? Ask them?
“I....I promise to be out of your hair as quickly as I can”, you shakily breathe, failing to convince yourself. Yet your aunt only holds a kind smile and a warm gaze.
“Stay as long as you want, dear. It’s the least we could do to repay everything your family has done for us over the years. Especially your father.”
You know you cannot blame her oblivion. Not when it is such a well-guarded secret. Yet her words douse kerosene to the fire in your chest. Tugs at the stitches of the subconscious wounds you have yet to heal. It makes you remember them. Your boys. How they would burn at hearing such words, grit their teeths and spit poison at anyone who held your father’s name in a high regard.
Or would they? After everything, you’re not so sure anymore. Painful or not, it makes you miss them even more.
So you smile. Bite your tongue, hold your fists at your side, and thank her again for the kindness she has shown you when you had nowhere else to run. America felt different. The air itself seemed like a culture shock. Being the ambassador’s daughter had prepared you for fluency in English and how to carry yourself diplomatically, but the journey ahead was bound to be rough.
For the first time in your life, you would be the only one you had to care for. Not Soyeon, not your mother, not Bangtan. You’d have to do this by yourself, now, and though all the emotions you have locked away will inevitably return to confront you, this sanctuary for now would have to be enough.
Tumblr media
You were surprisingly more difficult to find than the boys had expected. Traveling alone with no clunky belongings meant you were able to move more quickly than they had anticipated and the motel you stayed at was paid for in all cash. However, nothing in the city could really happen under Bangtan’s watch, and here you were. Video footage displayed on the screen of their basement office, and they can only feel heartache as they watch you through the screen.
“She checked out in the morning. Got picked up by a gray SUV and taken to the airport.” Taehyung drones, eyes still glued to the screen. Like looking at your pixelated face would bring you closer to him somehow. He missed you. They all did.
“The plane’s not registered with any public company, so I’m guessing it’s a private one belonging to her family.” Taehyung adds on, leaning forward in his chair to rest his elbows on the table. The air was tense with frustration. Anger at themselves and at each other for letting his happen. For making you run away.
“Any idea where it’s going?” Yoongi quietly murmurs from the end of the long table.
“America.”
America. You felt so discouraged and hurt by them that you had to go all the way to America. They did this. This is their fault.
“So? What are we waiting for? Tell the guards to prep the jet to America. We’ll bring her back”, Jimin gawks at Namjoon, who nurses a glass of scotch like it’s his lifeline. The room falls silent awaiting their leader’s course of action, but the six of them are left speechless when Namjoon himself starts laughing. The kind of laugh that sends chills down their spines. So raucous yet emotionless. So full of hidden pain. Namjoon tips the rest of the glass down his throat, looking at them all with a hopeless expression.
“What makes you think she wants to see us? After what we put her through? Hell, I’d be surprised if she lets us within a 10 foot radius.” Namjoon’s words are cruel, but they can’t help but to believe it to be true.
“N-No. She’ll understand that we were stressed. I-If we just explain everything, I’m sure she’ll-”
“Don’t you remember what happened in the kitchen? What Jun said? She’s been withering away for weeks, Jimin, and none of us gave enough of a fuck to notice. We made her feel invisible.” Namjoon chuckles, but there is only pain in his tone. One that he drowns out with another swig of top-shelf whiskey.
“We can fix it. We can go to America and fix it”, Hoseok stares down the leader, insistent on making efforts.
“No we can’t Hoseok”, Jin’s brows furrow, eyes lighting with fire, “Jun said she didn’t sleep. She didn’t eat. I wouldn’t take us back either.”
The boys know better than to take it personally. They were all heartbroken in the wake of your leaving, so desperate to get to you yet ashamed of themselves, apprehensive of if they even have the right to chase after you.
Jungkook leaps up from his seat, chest huffing and hands raking violently through his hair. He paces back and forth, eyes swimming in hurt and frustration until it all seemed to combust through his body, flinging his office chair to the side to find any form of catharsis.
He spares a poisoned glance over to Yoongi’s direction, who still sits with his eyes glued to the floor, as if ashamed of his mere existence.
“You.” The malice in Jungkook’s voice is crystal clear.Yoongi’s shirt collar is acquaintanced with Jungkook’s fisted hand, and he grips onto the older man like a viper to its prey. As if blunt force could make you come back. The other five boys could only watch.
“You did this. You told her to leave. Now she’s gone. I loved her, Yoongi.” Though Jungkook’s words are pumped with antipathy, the sheer devastation is heard most through it all. Yoongi doesn’t fight back. Doesn’t even make a move to push the younger off or shield himself from oncoming hits. Just sits passively with a monotone expression, staring into Jungkook’s eyes with a blank gaze.
“You’re not faultless. You yelled at her too.”
No, none of them are faultless. And perhaps Yoongi’s words were the nails in the coffin, but they all had part in pushing you to that brink. Jungkook’s eyes gloss over with defeat, and the grip he had on Yoongi’s shirt loosens. He steps away, unable to meet any of the gazes of his older brothers or the footage of your distressed face on the flat screen monitor. Leave. That’s all he’s known to do.
“Jungkook?” Yoongi holds no anger in his voice. It stops Jungkook in his tracks as he waits for his hyung to finish.
“I loved her too. We all do.”
They can only pray they’ll get to tell you.

The diner two blocks away from your aunt’s apartment complex is the last place anyone would expect Ambassador Yoo’s eldest daughter to be, much less employed at. You had spent the last two weeks scouring the area for a place that would take a girl with no prior work experience, a pending student visa, and no contacts or references. But here you were, working a minimum wage job and saving every penny to make something of yourself in this entirely new country.
It hasn’t been easy. Trying not to think about the seven boys that you left back home. The seven boys that you love so desperately and hopelessly, and foolishly thought they felt the same. It’s in the wee hours of the night that you toss and turn, closing your eyes and imagine yourself back at their manor. You will your brain to manifest the clacking sounds of Taehyung’s keyboard from across the wall or the footsteps of Yoongi’s bulky shoes when he walks past your door every night.
You miss them compulsively so. And perhaps they do not deserve your thoughts or heartache, but it belongs to them. Even after everything, you still belong to them. But you won’t give yourself the luxury of thinking you mean more than someone who they took pity on.
The days are the same. You get up early in the morning, put on a pot of coffee by yourself much to the disapproval of the housekeeper. Though it’s baby steps, you feel more independent this way. The coffee is terrible, of course, but it’s the thought that counts.
You leave before your aunt even leaves her bedroom, dedicated to your full-time job and earning money whenever you can. The pay is almost humorous, and a week’s worth of your labor probably equates to what Soyeon spends in a day. But it is your work. Your money. And though everyday starts and ends with heartache and longing for a life you once had in your grasp, it feels refreshing to learn to only need yourself.
“Y/N”, your manager sighs as you stumble through the door with frazzled hair and painfully dark under eyes. “You’re late.”
“I know, I know, I’m so sorry. Traffic was insane this morning. It won’t happen again.” Your hair is expertly swept back into a haphazard bun, fiddling with the apron around your waist before jumping to the orders that have begun to get cold on the counter.
The work was simple. Slow. But it was honest and enough for you. The diner was calm; a refreshing environment from the one you had in Korea.
“Here you are, sir. Black coffee and a side of toast”, you muttered in a sugary sweet voice, fake smile stretched on your face to hide the perpetual pain in your chest that has not went away since you left the Bangtan house. It’s easier these days to just not think about it. To completely repress the trauma of your father and the boys and the failed therapy. The smile drops as soon as you turn around to walk back to the counter.
“Rough morning?” Lina’s voice is gravelly, rough from the coffee and 15-minute smoke breaks she takes every lunch.
“Something like that.” You collapse onto the cashier counter, holding your head in your hands to will away the pounding ache of your temples.
“First it was me completely sleeping through the morning alarm. Then it was the bus detouring and making five extra stops they usually don’t”, you huff.
“Y/N?”
“And don’t get me started on the fact that I decided to drop my phone in a puddle when I was running here.”
“Y/N.” Lina’s voice cuts through your venting monologue. She stares past you, as if there was something behind you captivating her attention.
“I think someone is staring at us from across the street.” Your brows furror at her words, whipping around to the window. When you see him. The air in the diner thins until it completely disappears, and the breath is stolen from your lungs.
Your paled face and shaking hands is what he sees from where he’s standing, clad in a black hoodie that covered his head, but you could recognize him in your sleep.You are both frozen in time and chaos, staring at each other like you both did not belong. Eyes glued to the other like you are both too good to be true.
 Are you imagining it? Through the tears that reflexively pooled in your eyes and the way your body quivers, are you finally going insane and imagining a person who has been plaguing your mind for weeks?
Your feet carry you into action when your mind is still stuck in shellshock, bursting out of the diner doors with desperation on your tongue, hands reaching out as if it would span across the streetlight and bring him closer.
“Jin?” You are not quiet. You scream his name across what feels like a chasm, but is only just a couple meters away. Your legs usher you into the open street, and cars veer and honk to avoid your form, frozen on the crosswalk.
It takes you one second to blink and him one second to disappear into the crowd. Like he was never there at all and your mind was playing cruel, evil tricks on your already crumbling soul. A ruse that Lina was in on, just to torture your decimated spirit.
Could you allow yourself the luxury to think that he had come to see you? You didn’t know if you even wanted him to, didn’t know if you had it in you to forgive and forget.
“Jin.”
It comes out as a shaky whisper under your breath. A broken voice that longs for something she cannot have. Something that was so far in space and time it now felt like a figment of your imagination. You allow a tear to fall, your heart to crack a bit more, and return to the diner.
Tumblr media
“Where have you been running off to these days?” The words are snide. Coated in feigned concern and curiosity and meant to be a jab at Jin’s recent absence in Bangtan activities. They are easy to fall from Yoongi’s lips as he steals another swig of the McKellan whiskey he’s been saving up for a special occasion or a rainy day. What more fitting than to mourn the space in his heart where you used to be.
Jin stays silent, only giving the intoxicated Yoongi a heavy eye roll and trudging past him. To say that the seven men were in terrible shape after your departure is a gross understatement. But Yoongi’s onset alcoholism seemed mild compared to how the rest of the boys were faring.
Both Taehyung and Jungkook haven’t left their rooms since finding out you were in America, only the sounds of their computer keys, heavy footsteps, and the empty food plates left at their doors to signal that they were alive in there. Namjoon had thrown himself into work, picking up the slack of all the other boys and sometimes emerging from his office at the early hours of dawn looking like he hasn’t slept in a week. His gaunty face and the way his once fitted shirt now falls loosely on his shoulders tells Jin he hasn’t eaten much either.
Hoseok could more often than not be found in the training room, breaking and bruising himself to numb him from the pain of losing you. He takes it out on the poor gang recruits that were unlucky enough to be chosen to spar with him.
And Jin? Well, Jin spent his days away from the house. Away from the business and the drugs and the people. He never tells anyone where he’s going or when he’s coming back and they are all too drained to try to ask. The boys live together but not truly. Just exist and breathe in the same space and too resentful of themselves and the others to fix the fragments you left behind. They miss you. Long for you and burn for you like they never have for anyone else.
See, it’s one thing to not know where you are and be forced to be away from you on the basis of ignorance. But to know your exact location, have the time and resources to easily get to you, yet can’t come to you because they’ve hurt you immeasurably is a different kind of torture. A different kind of ache that haunts their souls at every waking moment. You are so close and so far away, and they only have themselves to blame for the distance.
“Jun, can you make a meal for Namjoon? I’ll take it up to him.” Jin sighs to the housekeeper, shedding off his coat on the kitchen stool.
Jun nods knowingly, fully aware of the effects your absence has had on the masters of the house. And she is not blind to Jin’s indifference or the way he is doing worlds better than the others.
“He’ll probably try to yell at me and make you go away first. But he’ll be thankful eventually.” Jin nurses a cup of tea to warm him after his journey. Ones that he takes every week and for days at a time.
Jun nods again, assembling a tray of food that Namjoon will undoubtedly leave to get cold either at his door or the end of his desk. Before he leaves, however, Jun spares the man a knowing glance and a sad smile.
“You may want to return the private jet more promptly next time, sir. The others have gotten...wary.”
Jin’s eyes widen at her words, frozen for a millisecond in his footsteps as realization strikes in that he hadn’t been as inconspicuous as he thought. He says nothing as he departs from the kitchen. Only stares at the marble floor and wonders what would be the next time he’d get to see you. Even if from a street’s distance.
It takes four syncopated knocks before semblance of a noise emerges from behind Namjoon’s closed door. It comes in the form of an angered grunt, but Jin is no stranger to his leader’s brunt. He opens the door with no further permission.
Namjoon is in worse shape than he had expected. His hair is another level of unruly, greasy and matted and looking like the man ran his hands through it a billion times. The paperwork strewn across his desk and floor reflects the mess in Namjoon’s own head. Like he is suffocating himself in his work but still finds breath in his lungs. Still finds you in his thoughts.
“You need to eat”, Jin states demandingly. Namjoon only hums in response, keeping his eyes glued to the work in front of him. Jin pushes the tray into his line of vision.
“Eat, Joon. You can’t work if you starve. Y/N would want you to eat.”
Your name makes his pen stop writing. Makes his eyes widen like he hasn’t heard it said aloud in ages. It’s pathetic to Namjoon, really. How much one person has affected him.
“How would you know what Y/N wants, Jin? How would any of us?” He sneers, resuming the scribbling on his paper. Jin sighs dejectedly, opting to leave the food on his table and not be bothered with trying to help someone who so clearly didn’t want to be helped. He turns around to leave. Until Namjoon opens his mouth again.
“Unless….”, he teeters, “you do know what she wants.” He tosses the pen and papers aside, crossing his arms and sitting back in the desk chair.
“Unless you’ve been going behind our backs to see her.”
Had he been turned around facing Namjoon, the younger would have seen the clear exposed truth on his face. The blatant and unhidden look of guilt and shame that he quickly masks once he whips to face Namjoon.
“What are you talking about?”
The responding statement is quick. Too quick. Too accosting. Namjoon squints his eyes.
“Only the several days these past weeks you’ve disappeared from Bangtan’s radar. The bills for the jet fuel sent to my directory. The pilots you’ve been pulling away from our forces in Korea to personally tend to whatever shady business you’ve been hiding under my nose.”
Namjoon’s words are rapid fire, piercing into the facade that Jin thought he had so carefully crafted. He should’ve known nothing goes unnoticed under the leader’s eye.
“Namjoon, I-”
“Just be glad I didn’t tell the others. Especially Jungkook.” The thought of the youngest makes him sigh. Jungkook has always been so volatile. A ticking, emotionally-charged and codependent time bomb hiding under that muscle and masculinity. Namjoon knew better than to expose something like this just yet.
When he looks up at the man standing in the doorway of his office, he’s looking straight past him. Through the window like it was you he saw in the sky. Observing him now, up close and with more attention, Namjoon finally gets to truly see him.
On the surface, Jin is faring worlds better than any of them. He’s clean and freshly showered, hair coiffed to perfection like it usually is. He dons a black button up; perfectly ironed without a crease in sight. But Namjoon knows him better than that. Jin looks so utterly drained it stirs sympathy in even the darkest of hearts. His eyes communicate something his words can’t: Seokjin is completely lost without your light.
“I’m sorry.” The words come out breathily. Like he’s been waiting to say it all this time but couldn’t.
“I just…”, he stares down at his hands, “I just needed to see her. See if she was doing alright after we…” Jin trails off, not able to face the truth of their actions just yet. And though there is lingering anger in Namjoon, he can’t help but to feel his distress vicariously.
“You know, she’s a waitress now. At this small, run-down diner downtown. With a cute little apron and everything”, he chuckles softly, sadness seeping in every word.
“She lives with her aunt and uncle, and walks everywhere because she doesn’t have a car, at unholy hours of the night which keeps me up every night constantly worrying about her. But that’s Y/N, isn’t it? So careless of her own safety and well-being.”
Namjoon refrains the smile that creeps on his face at the thought of you.
“She was smiling when I saw her. I could still see she was sad but she was smiling. Like she always does just so other people feel happier around her.”
“Jin, you don’t have to-”
“And she’s lost so much weight, Namjoon. She was trying to yell out for help and all we did was ignore her.”
Jin’s words are nails on a chalkboard. Vinegar in wine. It makes them both nauseous and rueful, and the oxygen in Namjoon’s office suddenly becomes all too suffocating. Your presence, or lack thereof, has left a heavy residue on the walls of the manor.
The two boys sit in silence for a moment, before the sound of thumping boots on hardwood flooring echoes down the hallway, getting louder as it approaches the office. The door is nearly taken off its hinges as it violently swings open. Taehyung stands in the threshold, sweat on his brow and chest huffing up and down like an overexerted engine. He is pale in the face, hands trembling at his side and the sheer shock in his gaze tells the two older men that the words preparing to slip from his tongue are not going to be pleasant. Jin and Namjoon brace themselves for impact.
“It’s Y/N”, his whispered voice quivers. Their hearts drop.
“There’s been an accident.”

Stray kids reaction to your kid misbehaving with you
Guys I wrote this while travelling back and forth (does that make sense) I had to travel 4 hours to the capital to get my degree and meet my best friend and now I'm going back home, a 4 hour long bus ride, and I just finished this
Warnings: household problems, angsty/emo teenagers, yelling, degradation, disrespect
Bang Chan
You were in the kitchen with your twins, Noah and Mema, baking and laughing with the 10 year olds. It was almost 9 pm and your 13 year old son Joey (Aaron) hadn't come home even though his curfew was 6 pm. You anxiously waited for him to be back before his father. You guys were concerned about Joey because of his changing behaviour and friends, so Chan tried to control him little by little, the first restriction was the 6 pm curfew.
You heard the door unlock and footsteps near the staircase so you followed and were angry but relieved to see Joey.
"where were you? have you seen the time?" you ask sternly.
He gives you an annoyed look and continues going towards the staircase.
"Joey, I asked you a question".
"I was hanging out with my friends, get off my back" Joey says.
You were shocked at his rude behavior.
"Joey if your father finds out about you coming home this late he-"
"he'll what? huh? what will he do? you two are so annoying always keeping me from having fun and living my life the way I want. Why can't you guys be cool like my friends' mom and dad? why are you guys so stupid!"
You are at a loss of words, anger boiling inside you. He's looking at you with anger and you try holding his hand but he swats it away and screams "don't touch me mom".
"How dare you speak to your mother like that" says an angry voice.
"dad I- no I was joking with mom, I was teasing her".
Chan comes to stand next to you with his arms crossed in front of his chest. The look he's giving your son is enough to have him shit his pants.
"misbehaving and lying, don't recall teaching you that. Or is that what your friends do all the time that you've picked up" Chan says.
Silence. He tells you to go back to the twins, that he needs to have a word with your son.
Joey insists that you be there because he knows Chan will hold back for your sake, but Chan is beyond angry and you don't want to get in his way of educating your son. You see fear in Joey's eyes and anger in Chan's.
"Bang Aaron Jinhwan, go to your room and wait for me there" Chan says strictly and Joey runs to his room.
Chan hugs you and kisses your forehead, "don't listen to him, you know he doesn't mean any of it" he whispers to you. "go easy on our baby Chris" you say giving his hand a light squeeze. He gives you a sad smile indicating that he won't. You know he needs to talk some sense into him and it has to be him because Joey doesn't listen to you at all.
Best believe Joey won't misbehave with you again.
Lee Know
Yunhway, your 15 year old daughter, had snuck out and you found out. Minho had come home late, had an apple for dinner and went straight to bed. Phew, at least he didn't find out about Yunhway. You knew he was in a deep sleep from his heavy snores. After putting your 6 year old, Jaehyun, to sleep, you waited for your daughter on the couch. She came home around 1 am, her shoes in her hand and tiptoeing to her room. You switch the lamp on, startling her.
"come here Yunhway" you say.
She doesn't listen to you and walks to her room, you follow her. You sit on her bed while she changes into her pajamas.
"leave me alone mom" she says.
"keep it down, everyone's asleep" you warn her.
"then why're you awake? go away mom"
"Yunhway I am your mother, I was worried sick. You snuck out to see that boy again didn't you" you say and her eyes widen.
"you have no right to ask me that".
"you are my child, I have every right to ask you that. I told you not to meet him, he's not a good guy and you went against my word. Not just by seeing him but sneaking at night. Do you have any idea how dangerous this is? Why are you being reckless Hway".
"my God mom do you hear yourself, stop trying to control me. You're just jealous that dad doesn't spend much time with you and I have someone who cares about me and is by my side. Ugh now get out of my room" she spits venom while opening the door to find an angry Minho standing at the threshold.
Yunhway looks at him then you with pleading eyes. Minho walks into the room and you quickly get up to hide your daughter behind your back. "Minho no I'm talking to her, go to bed I'll come to you". Nothing you say is getting to him because he's walking towards you two now and holds Yunhway's hand. You hold his wrist but he gives you a blank expression. You get out of the way, not wanting to make him angrier.
"who is he?" he asks his daughter.
"he's just a friend dad it's nothing".
"then why did you sneak out? and you just came back? is he really just a friend" he asks angrily. She doesn't say anything. He nudges her arm "answer me!"
"dad it's nothing, I was out with friends I promise I won't do it again please" she says, crying.
"and what makes you think you can talk to your mother like that??" he says and you grab his shoulder and put your other hand on his chest, motioning to him to stop. He ignores you and keeps speaking.
"you have no idea what kind of hell your mother went through to bring you into this world, not only that, she sacrificed her needs just so you could get the best. She always always put you before her and this is how you talk to her?? You disrespect her and mock her about her relationship with me? When it is her who taught you to speak. You are standing here because of her! Apologize to her right now!" his face is red with anger. Your daughter is crying and you are at the verge of tears.
"Minho please stop, I'll talk to her, please honey" you try convincing him, caressing his face.
"mom I'm sorry. Please forgive me, I'll listen to you, I'm sorry". She cries. You hug her trying to calm her down. Minho hugs you both too, still angry but you guys can talk to her in the morning.
Changbin
Your daughter Lin (Hyolin), 14, is in the kitchen with you, telling you about the new cute boy in school. You're both giggling about all the girls drooling over him and you giving her tips on how to make him like you, since he is in your class. Your son Juno (Junhong), 16, comes in talking on the phone with a girl. He grabs an apple from the fridge and tells her "bye baby girl, see you tomorrow". You have a good bond with both your kids so you're concerned about not knowing who this girl is.
"hey Juno, come sit with us" you say.
"uh no thanks mom, I don't want to know about that guy Lin's telling you about" he scoffs. You and Lin exchange looks.
"okay then how about you tell us about the girl you were talking to" you say playfully.
"there's nothing to talk about" he says dryly.
"come on, baby girl? Really Juno?" Lin says.
"stop teasing me. And mom please don't ask me personal stuff, it's my life okay?" Juno says.
You're a bit shocked because even though he keeps things to himself, he does let you know about things from the surface, just the main parts.
"Juno, hey is everything okay?" you ask. "what do you want mom? you want me to tell you what she smells like or how she keeps her hair? or you want me to introduce you to her? sorry to say mom but I would be embarrassed to introduce you to her. You're too touchy and want to get involved in things. Just look at yourself giggling with a 14 year old over some guy. You really need a life mom".
You're embarrassed by his words, not because you think he's right but because that's what he thinks of you. Just as you're about to say something he shows you the hand "mom please just stop, you've heard enough" the audacity of this kid I swear
Juno is turned to face his father, who has his arm in his hold, his expression is a mixture of annoyance and anger.
"Seo Junhong you got some nerve speaking like that to the woman who's the reason you're standing here" Changbin says.
"Changbin it's nothing, he's-" Changbin motions for you to stop.
"say that again, I don't think I heard it completely" he says loudly. Juno stays silent, Changbin's grip not leaving his arm.
"dad I'm sorry" he says
"I didn't tell you to apologize, did I? I told you to say whatever you said to your mother again. Oh and Lin will fact check incase you miss something, won't you Lin?" he says and Lin nods quietly, knowing far too well not to make her father angry with her.
"go on. Or do you want me to highlight some points for you. Tell us how you're embarrassed by your mother, and how you hate it when she gets involved in your super personal business hmm?"
Juno looks at you and you stand up and tell Changbin to let it go. "I don't want you to apologize to her because I'm not through with you. You won't introduce her to your girlfriend? She won't meet her and neither will I. If this is how you treat your mother, I'm ashamed to think how you treat girls around you. Go to your room" Changbin's words are heavy and Juno, who is a tough kid, starts crying.
"mom dad please, I didn't mean it, I'm sorry".
Changbin sits on the seat next to you and changes the topic to how his day went, giving your head a tight squeeze. You know what he's doing and you want to hug Juno but he needs to learn his lesson.
"and Minho hyung tried so hard not to call me out so I kept testing his patience" he says smiling at the memory, continuing his story.
Juno stands next to Lin's seat, trying to get your attention but you're playing Changbin's game and he will teach his son a lesson. Just because he babies his children a lot doesn't mean they get a free pass to disrespect you or him.
Hyunjin
You and Hyunjin only have one daughter, Yerim. As much as you guys want more children, your health doesn't allow you to conceive so you accept it. You can always have another child later, when you're healthy. With only one child, both of you spoiling her, there's no wonder she was beginning to become rotten to the bone. (lmao what did I just write)
You didn't like how your 13 year old kept inviting her friends over without letting you know about it. You always find random people in your house and her coming home late. You feared what kind of habits your daughter was indulging in. You complained about the unwanted company to Hyunjin and he told Yerim to at least let you know beforehand. What was that? He's just allowing her to invite random people to your place? You hate this and are going to talk to her, since her father won't do anything about it.
Hyunjin just left with Seungmin and now is the perfect opportunity to talk to her.
"Yerim-ah don't you think it's a little weird that people we're not completely familiar with just roam around in our house? It's uncomfortable and what if something gets stolen. If you really need to invite people over, make sure it's just your friends"
"what's the big deal mom? chill out no one's stealing anything lol. And like dad didn't say anything about it, so don't tell me who I can or can't invite"
"never speak to me like that again. You're living under my roof, and I'm warning you. I don't want to see anyone in this house that's not your friend. Got it?" yeah you weren't gonna let the spoiled princess sass you, you're the sass queen.
"omg mom you're not the boss of me and get out of my room" she says shoving your shoulder.
You being weak sauce, lose your balance with the shove and try grabbing onto something to keep yourself from falling. You are caught by your husband's arms, his expression of shock and pure rage.
"yah! Yerim ah!" he's never yelled at her before and the girl is startled.
"I didn't do anything dad she tripped on her own"
"I don't want to hear another word from your spoiled mouth. You are grounded for a week"
"dad no you can't do that my friends are coming over today"
"you are not allowed to call anyone over again, you hear me?"
Hyunjin makes Yerim apologize to you and leaves the room with you. Your daughter crying and throwing tantrums in her room. He apologizes to you for being ignorant and tucks you in bed with snacks and water and leaves with his card, which he came back to get.
Jisung
You weren't the type of woman to let people be rude to you and bring you down, you're a force to be reckoned with and that's what Jisung loves about you. So when Doyoung, your 16 year old son was talking back at you for staying over at his friend's house without letting you know where he was, you were having none of it.
"you have the audacity to disobey me, you could've at least sent me a text or answered my calls!"
"buzz off mom, I'm not a baby anymore, stop acting like I depend on you"
"I'm not acting like that. Watch your mouth. I'm concerned about you. What's wrong with you Doyoung, when did you get so rebellious"
"I'm not rebellious, you're so annoying. I'm just doing what I want to do and you can't handle that because you have issues. You can't handle that dad is almost never home and you want me to be here so you don't lose your fucking mind!"
You're taken aback, you can't believe that the child who never created much fuss because he didn't want to overburden you, is now grown-up to talk shit to you. Your jaw is hung open, your dad never spoke to you like that, Jisung never spoke to you like that. How can someone you gave birth to, and cared for and loved unconditionally ever since, speak to you like that. You feel miserable because you love him too much but he hurt you, had it been anyone else you'd have slapped them square across the cheek. Doyoung leaves you and you're sitting on the couch still processing his words and the pain in your chest. Jisung comes home 2 hours later and you're lying on the couch, hugging the cushion. He greets you and you hum trying to hide your gloomy mood. He picks it up and sits next to you. Jisung notices your swollen face, from crying and how uncomfortable you are.
"what's wrong honey?"
"nothing, I'm not feeling myself today, I'm going to bed"
"going to bed? It's 7 pm, are you feeling okay?"
"yeah I just need to rest" you say, your voice cracking. Jisung grabs you by your wrist and makes you face him. You burry your face in your hands and cry hard, he embraces you, extremely worried.
"y/n something happened. Tell me, you're worrying me"
"I'm not feeling okay Jisung, it's nothing really" you manage to say between sobs.
"I've known you for 22 years, and the times I've seen you cry, I can count it on my fingers. Something is up, talk to me please"
"Jisung do you think I'm going insane? Am I annoying?" you sob hard
"what? Where did that come from? Of course not, why're you saying that?" he's getting angry because someone clearly hurt you.
"you're only saying that aren't you"
"look at me, you know me way too well. You know I would never lie to make you feel better. Now tell me who hurt you" his grip on your wrist tightens and you're afraid of how he will react but he won't rest until you give him a name, so you get to the point.
"Doyoung, he snuck out last night and when I scolded him, he said I'm trying to keep him locked at home because dad's never home and I'm annoying and going crazy" fresh tears spill from your eyes. You're crying like a baby because your son really hurt you with his words. Jisung doesn't know what to say, he rubs your back and takes you to your bedroom. He runs a bath for you and takes good care of you. You're tired from crying all day so you're knocked out almost instantly. He quietly slips out of bed and goes to Doyoung's room.
"hey have you seen your mother?" he pretends to not know.
"she was in the lounge the last time I saw her, might be in your room"
"no she's not there, I looked for her so I came her thought maybe she'd be here"
"uh no, did you call her?" Doyoung asks starting to feel guilty and concerned.
"yeah, she's not answering" he says calmly, studying his son's expressions. He can clearly see panic and guilt setting in.
"dad we gotta look for her, where could she have gone?" Doyoung gets out of bed and puts his shoes on.
"uh no, let it go. She's so annoying anyway, maybe she finally lost her fucking mind and got lost" Jisung says as he leaves the room, making it clear that he knows what went down and now it's hell for Doyoung.
"dad, no, I- where's mom? I need to talk to her"
"go to bed Han Doyoung" Jisung gives him a stern look and he quickly goes back to bed.
You don't speak to him for 2 days and he's crying and begging for your attention.
"mom please I'm sorry, I was stupid for saying that please talk to me"
Felix
Felix has a very good relationship with his children Eve (Evelyn) 14 and Danny (Dennis) 11. You are a perfect family. Good genes, pretty smiles, everything about you guys is perfect. Your children are well mannered, smart and talented, like their father. Everyone always complemented the family and thw children for being respectable and warm. So Felix couldn't believe his ears when he walked in and heard Eve yelling at you. Danny and Eve had gotten into a fight and you were trying to resolve it. Eve was clearly at fault but she was not having it. To her, she didn't push Danny down the stairs because he mocked her dancing. She was simply defending herself because Danny was being mean to her (yeah right Eve). Right now, Danny was clinging to you with a bruise on his temple and lip, pain in the left elbow, which you treated and gave medicine for. You scolded Eve for the absurdity of her actions.
"what if something big happened to your brother huh? How could you do this Eve, I can't believe you"
"mom please shut up you're acting dumb. I was defending myself he just slipped"
"Lee Evelyn Hyeri! How dare you use foul words with me"
"oh my God mom please you're-"
Felix walks in the room, disappointment evident on his face. "look me in the eye and say that again Evelyn".
Her eyes go wide oh shit. "dad mom is taking Danny's side, she's being unfair".
Felix looks at Danny's tear stained face, he's sitting in your lap, clinging to your torso. It makes him upset seeing his son hurt and his children fighting but the reason behind his pain is his own sister.
"apologize to Danny and mama right now"
"but-" "right now" he says in his low dark voice. "no" she screams with tears of frustration in her eyes.
Felix hugs her to calm her down and reasons with her, calmly telling her about what could've happened if Danny's fall was serious and how hard you work for them and the sacrifices you make. By the end of the father daughter session, she comes to you and you for a hug and apologizes for her actions and words. Felix comes in for a hug too.
Perfect family.
Seungmin
Like Seungmin, his children were calm and collected. But there was one problem, they inherited the savagery from him and sass from you. That's a lethal combo. Your family was like that, always messing with each other, displaying your sass and savagery. To an outsider, you guys were always fighting but you all knew it was fun and games. That's all that matters right? The family should know your intentions.
So it wasn't hard for Seungmin to sense your 15 year old son Keith's (Kyungsoo) intentions of hurting you when he said you're a weak woman. You and Keith were arm wrestling and he cheated and smacked your hand hard and out of excitement went "hey loser, don't even think of a rematch you're weak and you know it". With this you, Seungmin and your 10 year old Hyesung went silent.
"stop that" Seungmin said before Keith could say anything else.
"I won. I won. I won. Huh. You're no match for me woman"
"Keith you're hurting your mother I said stop it" Seungmin says and Keith looks at you, feeling guilty. You were physically weak, it was commm knowledge, working around the house made you tired easily and your boys helped you with the chores, you were in this together. It made you upset that you couldn't put you 100% in for them but whatever you did was more than enough and they knew that. So Keith saying this made you upset. He realized his mistake and sat down to hug your legs. "I'm sorry mom, I didn't mean it like that. I love you and I really appreciate you" he says. You kiss the top of his head "I love you too" you say.
Jeongin
You're pregnant with your third child and it's getting hard to do work around the house. Your older children 13 year old Jihoo and 7 year old Yedam do whatever they can for you but you have to admit, Yedam is more considerate than Jihoo. All Jihoo does is play games and stay in his room. Jeongin doesn't notice much because he comes home late. By the time he comes, you're either asleep on the couch or the bed or you're cleaning the kitchen. He always helps you when he sees you working. You're right months in and Jeongin decides to take some time off work to be by your side so he comes home early. None of you hear him come in. You're feeling sick and ask Jihoo to bring you medicine but he refuses and tells you to get it yourself.
"Jihoo if I could I would get it myself, please I'm really sick and I need to make dinner"
"mom I'm not your servant, please go away, ask Yedam to get it"
"and she's your servant right? She cooks for you and cleans after you in this condition, she's practically a servant for you Yedam" Jeongin interrupts, seething.
Yedam is embarrassed and tries to explain himself. Jeongin takes your hand and brings you to your bedroom. He tells you to wait and gets the medicine and snacks for you.
"I'm sorry he talked to you like that. I don't know why he's like that but I'll talk some sense into him" Jeongin says rubbing his neck.
You rest your head on the head of the bed, feeling dizzy. "mm remember when we had him, we were over joyed, ready to die for him. I never thought he'd be like this" you say.
"I'll make sure this doesn't happen again y/n I'm sorry for not teaching our boys, I'll be better for them" he says and kisses you.

~~~
Donghyuck knew he was a cheerful boy. His cheerfulness was given to him by his mother who he lived with for the first five years of his life. He couldn't remember her face but he did remember her smile and bubbly attitude and it stuck with him even after he was seperated from her to live with the Lee's. To live with his father.
He's always been social and good with people so he couldn't understand why Mrs.Lee hated him so much. Nor could he understand why his brothers who he was so excited to meet never spoke to him, so he had simply assumed that talking inside the Lee house was forbidden. He barely remembers his early childhood, just glimpses of memories passed through his head. Memories like Mrs.Lee's glares and awful words, memories of yelling and crying but he wasn't sure where the crying was coming from, memories of being stuck with an awful Maths teacher who really didn't like him.
But those were just distant memories because the memories that stuck with him were sitting at the dinner table and eating with his brother's, his elder brothers taking care of him and pampering him, Marks red face when he would annoy the boy who no matter how mad he was would never push Donghyuck away.
He remembers growing up protected by Taeyong, Ten, Mark and Jeno from his awful step mother. She was the only person Donghyuck ever despised, he remembers how she was drunk and angry one day and she grabbed him by his arm and yelled at him, told him he wasn't supposed to exist, wasn't supposed to be loved. But she was also told him something that broke his eight year old self, she told him his birth mother had died.
He remembers crying into Tens arms bitterly and all of his brothers joining him, huddling together on Tens small bed to console him. That night when he had fallen asleep in his brothers arms he dreamt of his mother, his mother who smiled at him and told him he was loved and that he was ment to love and to always be happy and cheerful. And so he believed her.
He lived his life quite happily, shielded from his parents by his brothers, which he would grow up to appreciate.
He was cheerful and friendly and loving and got along with everyone. So he couldn't for the life of him understand why you made his blood boil so much.
"Y/n you're messing it up!" He yelled, frustrated but you only ignored him poking you tongue out from the side of your mouth as you concentrated on lining the border of your assignment with decorative tape.
"Do you think we're still in kindergarten?" He mocked you and without wavering your attention from the task at hand you spoke, "If we were in kindergarten I would be at peace and you wouldn't be here." And that angered him even more.
"Why did you follow me to uni" he grumbled under his breath sitting down next to you.
"Please you followed me here" you scoffed, handing over the assignment to him.
"Why did you even waste time decorating the first page of the script. It doesn't make sense and doesn't even add to our marks"
"One. It makes our script original-" "but isn't the story in it origna-" "TWO. It looks cute" you said with a grin plastered on your face and he looked at you and wondered how anyone could be so irritability adorable.
"Well if you're only going to stare at me weirdly I'm leaving" and you were gone before he even got a chance to say anything. Haechan sighed, looking at the cutely decorated cover page to the script the two of you worked on together. You really were stupid.
Before he knew it he found himself at lunch seated in between Mark and Renjun.
"Ugh I swear if this one doesn't turn our right I'm quitting" Renjun grumbled to no one in particular as he continued to work on his art assignment. Haechan sighed feeding the busy boy a sandwich and Mark rolled his eyes.
"What are you losers upto" Jeno asked, approaching the table with Jisung trailing behind him.
"I'm still in shock you're studying music and dance" Mark said taking a bite of his food.
"He says that everytime" Jisung rolled his eyes as he sat down.
"At the pace at which Jeno was going at I'm pretty sure Mark expected him to get into crime" A voice spoke and all the boys looked up to be greeted by a smiling Jaemin.
"Aren't you supposed to be on my side?" Jeno asked Jaemin with a pout and the other just laughed handing him a bottle of water.
"Please I love Mark more" the grinning boy said and Jeno being his dramatic self visibly deflated.
"Calm down there casanova Marks already got someone" Renjun said, eyes still on his painting.
"Where's Chenle?" Haechan then asked. "He's still stuck in the practice room, said his partner is being annoying" Jisung answered after he realised no one else was going to.
"Pft I know a thing or to about annoying partners" Haechan scoffed and everyone at the table sighed.
"Here we go again" Jisung said rolling his eyes and digging into his food.
"Again?"
"Oh please Haechan this happens everytime it's either y/n this or y/n that. You're obsessed" Renjun said banging his paint brush onto the table.
"What! That's not true" Haechan started to get defensive.
"Please the amount of tension between the two of you is crazy! Like just date already" Jeno laughed and now Donghyuck was very embarrassed.
"You're single ass should date first you've still not dated anyone after-" Donghyuck stopped himself immediately realising the words coming out of his mouth.
"That's my fault isn't it" Mark frowned.
"No!" Jeno said and then glared in Donghyucks direction, "No. I gave you my blessings it's okay I had to get over our relationship and I'm so happy for the two of you right now" Jeno said quickly and Mark frowned.
"But what if you had a chance.."
"Mark Lee you foolish fool if Jeno said he had no problem and literally encouraged you to date his ex then don't question it. Plus he's giving his all to music right now" Jaemin said patting Marks back.
"Hate to say this but Jaemins right, like Jeno could have easily killed you in his sleep of he had a prblem with you, we live in the same house remember?" Haechan added grinning and everyone faceplamed.
"Anyway moving on I've got a buisness class right now I'm going to run" Jaemin said getting up and leaving and Renjun jumped up cheering.
"Geez I didn't know you hate Jaemin hyung" Jisung the ever sassy said and Renjun looked at him confused before realisation dawned on him "Ahhh no I'm done with my drawing and I need to run too" Renjun said eyes widening as he noticed the time, grabbing his stuff and running off. They watched with a laugh how Renjun who was usually calm and graceful tripped as he ran out.
"Wait when did Jisung even leave?" Mark asked pointing to the empty seat. "Ungreatful brat" was muttered by Jeno.
"Are you guys secretly hanging out with y/n and lermimg disappearing trick from them?" Haechan asked and Mark and Jeno just gave him a look. "what?"
"Y/n again? I'm telling you you're obsessed" Jeno chuckled and Haechan chocked on his spit as he quickly got up and hurried away from his brothers teasing.
He was on his way to his locker when he spotted you laughing rather fakely to something a very attractive boy was saying. You laugh was a pitch higher than normal and Haechan almost snorted loudly. Almost. And you were most definitely flirting with that guy.
He approached you with a smile from behind, tapping your back and watching with utmost pleasure when you frowned.
"Is that a new laugh y/n weren't you snorting like a pig just today morning" he asked with a cheeky grin and you frowned.
"Shut up and leave" you said throught gritted teeth trying your best to keep calm.
"Oh c'mon I was just kidding" Haechan smiled and was about to wrap his arms around your shoulder when the boy you were talking to stopped him. He glared at the hand stopping his.
"I don't know who you are but you're making y/n uncomfortable so you got to leave" the boy said pushing Haechans hand away and grabbing onto your hand and pulling you away from Haechan.
Haechan stood there shocked at the boys actions for a second before snapping and pulling you back with so much force you fell onto his chest.
He glared daggers at the boy, his eyes threatening him. "Y/n and I have known eachother all I lives and now we've got a project to work on so don't suddenly interfere in the life of someone you know nothing about." Haechan said coldly, venom hidden behind each word of his and he dragged you away.
He was fuming, not realising where he was going until he was at the garden with you.
"Can you believe the nerve of that guy?" He scoffed but you didn't say anything head hung low. He immediately took notice of that.
"Y/n what's wrong?" He asked worried and thats when you looked up at him, eyes tired. "This has to stop" you pleaded and he didn't understand what you were saying.
"You did this back in school too. You were awful to me and hated me but the moment I was with someone other than you you'd make a big deal out of it and end up fighting with that person" you said said, voice breaking and tears glistening your eyes. Haechan was about to defend himself when you spoke again. "I'm so tired of whatever crap you're pulling Haechan, you were always sending me mixed signals in school and I let you take me for a ride but not again. I liked you but hated you. You made me angry but so happy. You pushed me away only to pull me back and I'm sick of it" the tears now made their way down you face as you cried and Haechan stood there feeling so guilty for making you cry.
"Y/n I'm so sorry I didn't mean to.."
"Of course you didn't mean to" a dry laugh escaped your lips, "but tell me, did you ever like me? Was this just entertainment for you? For when you were bored?" You asked with spite.
And suddenly everytime someone hinted at his weird obsession with you came back to him, "Look I don't hate you... Atleast I think I don't. Not that much I-" You scoffed cutting him off.
"It's either you like me or you don't stop playing with my heart this isn't funny" you said rather calmly but the anger visible in your eyes.
"I don't know...I don't think so" he could hear your heart break and somehow he felt like maybe, he was wrong.
"Then leave please leave" you said agressively wiping away the fresh tears falling down your face. He tried to comfort you but you raised you hand stopping him.
He sighed in defeat and began to walk away, head hung low. He felt bad for making you cry and wanted to see you smile. Just then the thought of you crying in that pretty boys arms crossed his mind and he felt and awful feelin at the pit of his stomach. Jealousy. He was jealous, he wanted to make you happy and he wanted to hold you as you cried, he didn't want you to look at other people lovingly, and he hated the thought of you kissing someone else so he immediately turned to you and grabbing you by your shoulders.
"Look y/n I want to believe I hate you but at the same time I hate when it's not me that makes you happy because I love making you smile, I love making you laugh, I love annoying you." He said eyes serious as you blankly stared at him.
"All I know is whatever is going on in my head, you're at the center of it and you're the only one that can help me figure out what my fixation with you is."
"That's stupid." you mumbled, looking away from his intense gaze and he smiled.
"Nothing's stupid in love and war y/n and right now I don't know if I'm at war with you" he paused and you looked up at him and he smiled at you fondly, "or in love with you."
You looked at him awe struck and he couldn't help but chuckle at how cute you looked, with eyes still shining from all the tears and your face flushed.
"Will you help me figure which one it is?" He asked, his tone hopeful and you thought for a while and nodded as he grinned happily. And you smiled.
"This might just be my own downfall" you started with a frown and then a very small smile made its way to your face, "But atleast then I'll know more than I know now."
Bonus:
"This is stupid he's in love with you" Jeno said with a frown and Haechan pouted as he watched you laugh.
"Ah y/n run away while you can, our hyucks really stupid to even think he hates you" Mark added and if you weren't holding his hand right now Haechan would have punched his brother.
"Oh so this is the infamous y/n" Ten said walking into the room with a smirk on his face and Haechan silently cried inside.
"We really need to leave" he said but you were at your antics again and said "no we don't we have plenty of time don't we" he swears he hates you but at the same time it was impossible to hate you when you smiled at him like that.
"Ohhh is this y/n Donhyuck?" Came his eldest brothers voice and this time Haechan did cry.
"Oh c'mon don't pretend to cry you love me"Taeyong said patting his back and you chuckled.
"No I love Mark" Haechan said glaring at the eldest who only chuckled, "What's with everyone's fixation on Mark?" Jeno asked and Ten rolled his eyes "You just don't see how adorable our Markie is because your Taeyongs pet"
"Hyuck this is your fault the name stuck!" Mark growled and you stood there watching the brothers argue with eachother, amused at their antics.
"Ahh this is what you'll be getting into if you associate with this family" A voice said behind you and you turned around to meet the person who was your senior in high school and the one that stole Tens heart.
"Wouldn't I be lucky if that was the case?" You asked but another voice spoke "Try being stuck babysitting five grown men" you turned to see the person you recognised as Marks partner.
"I will hit you!" Haechan yelled charging at Mark who had run behind Ten who was yelling at Taeyong for help who who was being held down by a sulky Jeno.
You shared a look with the two people beside you as the three of you broke out in laughter.
...
..
.
“No, Felix Lee will be the one to pay this price. Kill him, and the damage you’ve caused will be forgiven.”
The words echo in your mind as you leave the councilroom, your ears ringing. This couldn’t be happening. You expected something terrible of course, but you at least figured it would happen to you.
Then again, wasn’t this punishment worse? To suffer with the fact that this was all your fault, that Felix Lee would die by your hand, while you lived on. No, this was no form of mercy. The Council was cruel, and this was no exception.
As you enter the main hallway, you feel a hand rest on your shoulder. “Y/N,” a familiar voice speaks softly, but it does anything but soothe you.
You whirl on Chan, smacking his hand away. “Don’t fucking touch me,” you spit, staring daggers into him. While you expect him to be smug, or even amused, his eyes seem empty. Sad. He feels guilty.
Of course he does, because that’s who Chan is. He isn’t a monster, no matter how badly you try to make him out to be. No matter how much easier it would be to hate him. You know Chan, and he would never be giddy about something like this.
“I’m sorry,” he pleads as you turn away from him and stride down the hall. “I didn’t think that this would happen. I didn’t think that they would kill him.”
“Oh, you didn’t know?” You mock, refusing to slow down or look him in the eye. “Well, I guess it’s fine then.”
He chases after you. “I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, Y/N. That’s not what I’m asking for. I want to help you.”
At this you turn around to face him, pulling him into a separate, less busy hallway that leads to the library. “What? You want to hand me the blade? Cock the gun?”
Chan opens his mouth, but no sound comes out. His eyes are wide, shocked by the venom of your words.
“No-no? That’s not what I mean-”
“Or do you just want to be in the room while I drink him dry? Try to lend some moral support, because God knows I’ll need it.”
“Y/N, if you’ll just let me talk-” he pleads, once again placing a hand on your shoulder. It’s all too familiar, and only makes your anger spark further.
“No!” You cut him off, your voice dangerously loud. “You sold me out, Chan. You fucked me over. And I don’t care why, I don’t care how you try to justify or fix it now. I don’t care. It’s over. I have to kill someone I care about, someone… someone I could have loved one day because of you. Because of your-”
“Hey, uh, are you guys okay?” A voice asks from over your shoulder. You turn your head to see Jeongin, eyes imploring the both of you with a nervous curiosity.
Chan plasters on a reassuring smile. “Yeah, we’re good, man. Don’t worry.”
“Are you sure?” Jeongin asks carefully. “Because I heard yelling-”
“We’re okay,” you say, putting on your own fake smile. “We’ll meet you down at the front in a second, we just need a minute.”
“Ah, alright, if you say so,” he says, not sounding so sure. Slowly, he turns around, disappearing down the hall.
Once you hear the sound of his footsteps fade, Chan turns back to you, his voice low. “Turn him,” he states.
“What?” You ask, eyes narrowing.
“Look,” he sighs. “I messed up, I’m sorry. I thought they’d make you stop seeing him, not have you kill the guy. It was petty and stupid, and in some messed up way I thought that I would be protecting you. Clearly, I’ve managed to do the exact opposite. I’m sorry.”
You open your mouth to fire back, to tell him his apology is not accepted, but as his eyes meet yours, you can’t bring yourself to. His eyes are glassy, on the brink of tears. He swallows deeply, stabilizing himself before continuing.
“And I know if they kill him, you’ll never forgive me. Hell, you shouldn’t forgive me. But that’s the last thing I want, for us to be like this.”
He stops for a second, a breath of silence passing between the two of you. Your eyes begin to sting, overwhelmed by the emotion of it all. It could be your current situation. It could be that familiar look of painful affection swimming in Chan’s eyes. It could be a lot of things. Perhaps it is all of them.
“What do I do, Chan?” You whisper, your voice coming out hoarse. “Fuck, what do I do?”
He hesitates for a moment, before pulling you into a hug. That’s the final push that breaks you, tears fall from your eyes, sprinkling your cheeks. You would be embarrassed, if it weren’t only Chan there to see you. Despite all that has happened, there is still that comfortable acceptance that hangs in the air around the two of you. That involuntary form of care that doesn’t flare out, even after the love has dissipated.
“You turn him into one of us,” Chan says. “It’s the only option, maybe then The Council will cut him a break.”
“I can’t do that to him,” you whisper, shaking your head. “I can’t make him suffer like this.”
“Maybe,” Chan says, setting his chin on top of your head. “But is this really a fate worse than death?”
~~~~
That is the question you contemplate on the lonely walk back to your apartment. Chan had offered to walk you back, but you declined. Despite the moment of reconciling the two of you had shared, you still aren’t ready to be around him. He still hasn’t earned your forgiveness.
As you arrive home, your apartment feels haunted. Not by Chan’s ghost, as it once had been, but Felix’s. You can see him lying on the couch, television playing some history documentary you were both only half paying attention to. You can smell his cooking wafting in from the kitchen, a familiar sweet that had long since been devoured.
You can feel his touch against your skin, the phantom of his fingertips dancing along your back. Your neck. Your thighs.
You can’t kill him, that much you know. However, if you don’t, someone else will. No, you have to fix this, and as much as you don’t want to admit it, Chan is right. The only way Felix has a chance of survival is to turn him, but could you really do that? After knowing just how terrible this life really was?
If you had been given the option in being turned, there was no way in hell you would have accepted. You remember that dreadful night, roughly three years ago. You’d been new to Hampden, and eager to meet new people. You stumbled into him at a party. He was a little older, a little classy. You’d been interested in him right away, not yet having a clue about what he or The Society was. Vampires were nothing but a myth, a fairy-tale, a form of media-culture.
This would change later that month. For good.
The two of you began to see one another casually. It was fun, thrilling. You kept each other a secret, for reasons you didn’t understand the full extent of at the time. He was unlike anyone you’d ever met, for both better and for worse. With his charisma and passion, came a strange, devious obsessiveness. A terrifying need for control. You’d go as far as to say, a lack of humanity.
Then came the night you decided to end things. The last night of your life as you knew it. You told him you wanted to stop seeing each other, he refused to leave. He yelled. He broke things. In the end, he turned you.
When you awoke, your new and rejuvenated self, he was already gone. This wasn’t a desperate attempt at staying together, at making you need him. No, it was revenge. You would pay the price for rejecting him, for the rest of your life.
Which was to say, forever.
You stare at the telephone sitting on your coffee table. Could you really do that to Felix? Could you really take away his life as he knew it? Make him say goodbye to his roommates, his freedom? Everything would become controlled by The Society.
The answer is no. No, you can’t make him do that. But as always, this is not a matter of what you do and don’t want. It never has been. It never can be.
You keep this in mind as you dial Felix’s cell, your fingers pressing the familiar keys deeply lodged in your memory. You don’t have to think, you’ve dialed this number so many times before.
The phone rings three times before he picks up. “Y/N?” His voice echoes through the speaker. He sounds worried. Perhaps he should be. “You there?”
“Yeah,” you mumble quietly, clearing your throat. “Yeah, I’m here.”
“Is everything okay?” He asks, his voice full of concern. “This is a lot earlier than you said you’d call. Did you talk to Chan?”
Felix doesn’t know you had a meeting with The Council today, you hadn’t mentioned it to him prior. He knows nothing. Nothing of his death sentence. Nothing of the weight of what you have done.
“Yeah, I talked to him.” You say quietly, before a moment of silence passes by, as Felix waits for you to continue. “Listen, could you come over?”
“Right now?” He asks. “It’s the middle of the day, are you sure?”
“It doesn’t matter,” you think. “There isn’t anything to hide from anymore.”
“I’m sure,” you say, controlling the waver in your voice. What are you going to say when he gets here? How do you tell someone that they’re on death row? How do you offer them immortality? How do you explain the price?
“Okay,” he replies, in that sweet, deep voice of his. “I’ll see you soon.”
~~~~
You don’t know what to expect will happen when you open the door for Felix. How will he react when you tell him? Will he scream? Cry in silence? Or will he just leave, not being able to stand looking at you any longer?
Your stomach knots. You don’t know how he will react, but you know at the very least, he won’t be thrilled.
The doorbell rings, rattling through your apartment, shaking you from your worried daze. You approach the door slowly, hand shakily finding itself clenched around the door knob. With only a breath to settle yourself, you twist the handle.
When Felix see’s you, he can already tell that something is wrong. Perhaps it’s the way your eyes are staring at him as if he’s going to disappear. Or maybe it’s how your hands are shaking, arms wrapped around you, as if you’re trying to make yourself smaller.
All he knows is that something didn’t go according to plan.
“Y/N, are you okay?” He asks, pulling you into a hug. The gesture is warm, comforting. You could so easily slip away, immerse yourself in the feeling. Forget about The Council. Forget about it all, for just a moment. For just a night.
But oh, how selfish that would be.
“No,” you whisper into his chest, unable to look up and meet his gaze. “No, everything isn’t okay.”
“What’s wrong?” Felix asks, gently breaking away from you. He takes your hand, slowly leading you over to the couch. “Did they do something? Did they hurt you?” He asks, beckoning for you to take a seat.
You laugh, although it sounds far more like a sob. Of course, before all else, he’s worried about you. It is just so utterly Felix, to have all his concerns focused on you, and not an inkling of worry towards himself.
Maybe you should have been more like him. Maybe if you had focused on what danger your little arrangement could have put Felix in, rather than trying to save your own hide, you could have prevented this.
So many maybe’s. So many possibilities you’d never know the answer too.
“No, Felix. They didn’t hurt me.” You sigh, looking up to meet his eyes, which are wide and swimming with concern. He’s panicking, that much is obvious.
“Then what happened? Was it Chan? Did he say something?”
You sigh. Time to get this over with. Rip off the bandaid.
“No, Lix. It wasn’t Chan. It’s about you,” you say. He freezes, slowly pulling his hand away from its place on your thigh.
“About me?” He asks slowly, the look in his eyes shifting from a worried concern, to fear. “What about me?”
You stare at him for a moment, unsure of how to break the news. In the end, you decide to just be outright.
“They want me to kill you,” you state. You expect him to jump away from you. To run, or yell. Something, at least. Instead, he blinks.
“Are you going to?” Felix asks, his tone emotionless. As if he were asking what you were doing that day, rather than whether or not you planned to murder him.
“What do you think?” You look at him, trying to read the expression on his face, but draw blank. You can’t tell what he’s thinking.
He sighs. “Alright. So what are we going to do, then?” He’s awfully calm considering the circumstances. Almost too calm. An eerie chill passes through you.
“Well, that’s the tricky part,” you start, inching away from him slightly. Why is he so relaxed? Did he expect this to happen? How, if you certainly didn’t? “I talked to Chan, and we both agree there’s only one way to solve this.”
“Wait,” Felix looks at you, his eyebrows furrowed. “Chan? As in the same Chan who probably turned us into The Society in the first place? That Chan?”
“Yeah, that Chan,” you mumble, almost embarrassed. When he puts it like that, listening to Chan’s advice sounds foolish, but you know it’s more complicated than that. Chan had fucked up, there was no denying that, but you and Felix didn’t have many allies in this. It’s important to accept help where you can find it.
“Okay, and what did he recommend?” Felix asks, and you can hear the resentment in his tone.
“That I turn you,” you say. Frankly, you’d expected Felix to keep up this strange, cold exterior. Instead his jaw drops and he jumps to his feet.
“You-you want to what?” He stammers, taking a few steps back. His eyes are wide, full of nothing but pure terror.
“Woah, calm down! It’s okay,” you say, rising to your own feet, extending your hand out towards him. It reminds you of that first night you met, when he told you he knew what you were. About how his childhood neighbors were just like you. It is strange, looking back on how much has changed, yet also remained the same.
“You wouldn’t do that,” he states, refusing to take your hand. Instead, he wraps his arms around himself, shrinking backwards. He’s utterly terrified. “You want to make me into a monster?”
At that you frown. You know he’s frightened, that much is blatantly obvious, but a monster? That stung.
“A monster? Is that what you see me as?” You say, your tone sharp.
“Y/N, you know that’s not what I meant,” he huffs, rolling his eyes. Your anger spikes sharply.
“Really? Because that seems to be exactly what you meant.”
“You’re a vampire, Y/N. I think that’s quite literally an example of a monster. You? No, you aren’t one. But Chan? The Society? They are.”
“You don’t seem to find it so monstrous when I drink from you, do you? No, you actually like it. So don’t act like you know what you’re talking about, Felix. Because you don’t.”
“But, I do know!” He shouts back, closing the space between the two of you. You stare up at him, and suddenly you see it. The flicker of something behind his eyes. The flicker of something more.
“How?” You whisper, your breath hot against his lips. “How do you know?”
“Because,” he says, his heart beating rapidly in his chest. You hear it, pounding, the blood rushing through his veins.
“I’m a hunter.”
7 weeks prior…
Felix hadn’t originally expected to like you. From what Changbin had told him, vampires were the embodiment of evil. Blood-thirsty murderers, who revelled in the pain and anguish of their victims. Frankly, there really didn’t seem to be anything to be fond of.
No, he had expected to despise you. Fear you. Take the greatest risk he’d ever gambled walking into the library that night. He wasn’t even sure if he’d walk out alive.
Especially after what happened to Hyunjin.
Hyunjin was one of Felix’s roommates. He, Changbin and Han lived together for over a year before Changbin invited Felix to move in a few months ago.
Felix had really liked Hyunjin from the start. The guy was funny, always ready to share a good story, or listen to one of Felix’s own. He was greatly accepting, treating Felix as if he had always lived there, right from the day he’d moved in. He was sweet, creative. A Dance major. Everything about the guy screamed likeable, and Felix couldn’t help but admire him.
Right up until the day he was murdered.
Hyunjin had started seeing someone. Although he wouldn’t admit it to any of his three roommates, the signs were undeniable. He’d disappear late into night, and always come home early in the morning. He’d cancel plans because he “had to study,” and when they came home he was nowhere to be found.
Changbin had confronted him about this, but Hyunjin had denied it. In that care-free, sweet nature of his that made Felix want to believe he was telling the truth.
But he couldn’t, because Felix had seen all the signs too.
Felix remembered one morning, when he woke up to find Hyunjin in the kitchen, brewing a pot of coffee. The man hadn’t noticed him walking in, and Felix went to grab him by the shoulders. Just to make him jump a little, nothing too menacing.
But that’s when he saw them, peeking out from Hyunjin’s collared shirt. Two bites marks, clear as day.
When Hyunjin noticed him, he jumped back, quickly pulling the collar of his shirt higher. “Oh! Hey, Felix! You’re up early,” he’d said, laughing. However, Felix could see the falseness of his smile, the intense look in his eyes.
Hyunjin was hiding something, and whatever those bite marks were held the answer.
Now, Felix had never heard anything about vampires before. Therefore, when he saw the marks, he just assumed Hyunjin was into something… a little less than vanilla, to put it lightly. He shook it off. Tried to distance that day in the kitchen from his thoughts.
Yet, the marks stuck with him. They just looked so… real. They were not a human bite, nor any animal Felix could think of. They looked like something straight out of a horror film. The way the skin bruised around them, swollen. The holes themselves were dark. A hollow red.
Felix should have been concerned. Worried. Instead, he was intrigued. He wanted to talk to Hyunjin about them, but it felt too personal. He’d only known the guy a few months, and the marks seemed to be something Hyunjin wished to hide. He couldn’t just come outright and ask him.
So Felix kept it to himself. A mistake. A huge mistake.
As roughly 3 weeks later, Felix would walk into their apartment to find Changbin curled on the floor, trembling. His cheeks were stained with tears, eyes unfocused as Han sat behind him, patting his back to grant the smallest inkling of comfort.
“What happened?” Felix asked, panicking as he rushed to his friend's side. He may have only moved in a few months ago, but he’d known Changbin almost all his life. They’d gone to the same elementary school, parents being childhood friends themselves. They were close, unbelievably close. And in all that time, Felix had never seen Changbin so upset. So disheveled. Broken.
When Changbin didn’t respond, Felix turned to Han, who was already staring at him with somber, empty eyes.
“Hyunjin’s dead,” Han said, so quietly Felix wasn’t sure if he heard him correctly.
“Dead?” Felix choked, eyes subconsciously trailing to Hyunjin’s bedroom door. “What do you mean? He- he can’t be dead?” There was no way. Hyunjin had to be in there, dancing to his favourite mixes or reading a webcomic, gushing about his favourite dramas. He couldn’t be dead.
“He is,” Changbin spoke suddenly, still not deterring his eyes from their place on the wall. “I saw it happen.”
The silence that followed was suffocating. Felix wasn’t sure what to say. He wasn’t sure how to form words. Shock enveloped him in a fuzzy, mind-clouding fog.
The three of them sat there for what felt like hours, until eventually, Changbin spoke.
“Don’t you want to know what happened?” He asked.
“Okay,” Felix whispered. He wasn’t sure if he really wanted to know. If he could handle it. Yet, his curiosity got the better of him.
“I was asleep in my room, woke up to the sound of banging on the door,” Changbin spoke quietly. “Heard Hyunjin get up to grab it, assuming it was fine. When he opened the door, he sounded shocked. Afraid. He spoke like he knew why they were here. Like he was in danger.”
“I heard them come inside. Hyunjin started shouting, “get away from me!”, “don’t touch me!” I got up, rushing towards the living room. However, as I was coming, I heard Hyunjin suddenly get cut off. Confused, I carefully peeked around the corner. Can you guess what I saw?”
When Felix didn’t answer, Changbin turned to face him, his eyes finally meeting Felix’s own. Felix swallowed, his heart rising into his throat. Changbin’s eyes were dead, holding a darkness that made Felix shiver.
“They were drinking his blood, Felix. Like a fucking vampire. The guy had Hyunjin pinned to a wall, and didn’t let go of him until Hyunjin was gone. Until he drank every last drop in his body. Then they dragged him out of here. Left as if nothing had happened.”
“That… that’s impossible,” Felix shook his head. The story had to have been fake, Changbin’s way of dealing with the trauma. It couldn’t have been true.
“Is it?” Changbin asked. “Is it really? Because I think we’ve all seen those sickening, fucking bite marks Hyunjin has been carrying around these last couple months.”
Felix froze. That was true, but still, that couldn’t have meant vampires were real. No, that was ridiculous. They weren’t any more real than mermaids, or werewolves. It was simply impossible.
But… was it?
Suddenly, Changbin leaped to his feet, storming across the living room and whipping open the door to Hyunjin’s bedroom.
Han, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, chased after him. “Changbin, no! It’s too soon. Don’t do this to yourself. Not right now.”
“No!” Changbin yelled back, not looking back at Han. He began digging through Hyunjin’s drawers, throwing everything inside out onto the bed. “It’s my fault he’s dead, and you know that. I should have tried to stop it, something at least. But I froze! I didn’t do shit! And now Hyunjin is dead, Han.”
Changbin rushed over to Hyunjin’s nightstand, ripping out the bottom drawer. “The least I can do now is try to prove what happened to him. Try to show that it wasn’t just my bloody imagination, like Felix over here clearly thinks it is.”
Felix, unsure of what to say, remained quiet.
“He doesn’t think you imagined it, Changbin,” Han reassured, carefully putting a hand on his friend's shoulder. “But trashing Hyunjin’s room? That’s not going to solve anything.
Changbin shrugged off Han’s hand, scowling. “You don’t know what will help,” he spat, half-mindedly flipping through one of Hyunjin’s old notebooks. “There’s got to be something in here. Something that will prove that-” he began, but quickly stopped.
Changbin stood silently for a moment, staring at the words on the pages with an intensity that made Felix nervous.
“This is it,” Changbin said quietly, not looking up at them.
“It’s what?” Han said, quickly placing himself beside him, beginning to read whatever was on the pages. He quickly went quiet, his eyes growing wide as he scanned the paper.
Changbin looked up at Felix, an unreadable expression on his face.
“It’s our proof.”
         ~~~~
Hours passed and Felix finally found himself sitting at his desk, the dim light of his lamp cascading over what turned out to be Hyunjin’s journal.
Changbin had finally given it to him, spending hours obsessing over every word and detail. God knows where he was now, having left the apartment around midnight. A couple hours had passed, and he still hadn’t returned.
Han had gone to sleep a while ago, leaving Felix alone with nothing but the ghost of Hyunjin’s words that he left behind. A chill passed through him. This was all he had left of him, these entries discussing what would later become the reason for his death.
Felix paused on a certain entry, one dating back roughly a month ago, regarding the bite marks.
October 23rd.
She fed from me today. Finally. It hurt seeing her so starved, so weak and frail compared to when we first met. Everytime I’d look in her eyes, I’d see how glazed over they were, how blown out from hunger. It physically hurt, knowing how she was putting herself through this pain when I could help her, if she’d only let me.
I had to beg her to do it. She’s so worried about them. So paranoid they’re going to find out. I’m scared too, I guess, but I’m willing to risk it. For her.
As for the feeding itself, it’s difficult to explain. It hurt, undoubtedly, but at the same time it was wonderful. It felt wrong, wild. Raw. But I don’t think I’ve ever felt so connected with someone. It’s not the same as sex, somehow it felt more intimate? Like I said, it’s difficult to explain. Strange.
It’s weird, looking in the mirror now, seeing those marks. Yet, they make me smile. They remind me of her, as if I’m branded with the fact she trusted me enough to do this.
I think I’m starting to love her. Even if worse comes to worst, I don’t think I’d ever regret this. She’s shown me so much, I only hope our time doesn’t run out.
I’m seeing her again, tomorrow. I think Changbin is starting to get suspicious, he made a comment about me leaving late at night. I denied it, but I know he thinks something is up. Maybe Han and Felix do too, but they haven’t said anything.
I want to tell them, I really do. But I know I can’t. I promised her. Besides, roping them into this might make matters worse.
I hope I’m making the right choice.
~Hyunjin.
Felix felt like he was going to be sick. So Hyunjin knew. He knew what was coming, even a month ago. Yet he didn’t stop seeing this girl. Why? Hyunjin was a hopeless romantic, sure. But even so, this seemed ridiculous. Why would he keep doing this, knowing the consequences?
Felix’s mind wandered back to the marks on his neck. The deep gashes of where she’d drank from him. The feeding, as Hyunjin had called it. Was that what made him stay? This strange, monstrous intimacy?
Felix didn’t understand. He didn’t understand how this feeding could possibly be a good thing. And yet, to his own shame, he was curious. Curious of how it felt, how it led Hyunjin down this road to his death.
God, if Changbin could hear what he was thinking now.
  ~~~~
The following weeks passed by in a blur of grief and obsession. Changbin was rarely home. Sometimes he was at the library, doing as much research as he possibly could. Others, he was searching for more hunters, anything to find out more about what exactly Hyunjin had gotten himself into.
Today, the three roommates were sitting on the living room couch, discussing a rather important next step in Changbin’s mission of avenging Hyunjin.
“I found one,” Changbin stated, taking a sip of his gin and tonic.
Han frowned. “What do you mean you found one?”
“I mean one of those bloodsuckers is at the library every night the same time I am,” Changbin stated. Felix shifted nervously. He didn’t like the look on Changbin’s face.
“Okay,” Han continued, his frown deepening. “What do you want us to do about that? You’re not planning on shoving a stake through their heart or anything, are you?”
“No,” Changbin replied, although he didn’t seem to be as appalled by the idea as Han. “I plan on using them.”
“What do you mean?” Felix asked, an unsettling feeling passing through him.
“I mean, one of us has to get close to her. Close enough to figure out who this “they” Hyunjin keeps referencing is.”
“Then what?” Han asked, his arms crossed.
Changbin shrugged. “Then we make them pay for what they did to him. The only question now, is which one of us is it going to be?”
Now, Felix didn’t like vampires. Not at all. Not after what they’d done to Hyunjin. However, he couldn’t seem to find this deep-seeded hatred that Changbin had developed.
No, in fact he felt a level of sympathy for the girl who lived on Hyunjin’s pages. For the sweet and generous girl who would almost rather die than subject him to any danger. She wasn’t a monster, that much was obvious. No, the vampires that murdered Hyunjin, the vampires that she was so terrified of, they were the monsters.
But Changbin didn’t seem to see that. Felix didn’t blame him, he was blinded by both grief, as well as the overwhelming guilt that Hyunjin’s death was his fault. It wasn’t, of course.  Felix was sure that if Changbin had stepped in, they simply would have killed him too. But that wasn’t what Changbin wanted to hear.
So, before he could properly comprehend what he was doing, he spoke. “I’ll do it,” he said, causing the two men to raise their eyebrows.
“Really?” Han asked nervously, putting a hand on his shoulder. “Felix, you don’t have to. You could get yourself killed.”
Felix knew this. Hell, he knew this well. He also knew it was the right thing to do. This girl at the library… If Changbin attempted getting close to her in the state he was now, he’d end up getting one of them killed. Han, bless his soul, was far too paranoid to pull it off. Even now, he tried to distance himself from the entire topic of vampires. Maybe it was fear, maybe he didn’t like the spite in Changbin’s voice when he discussed them, but in any case, Felix knew he wouldn’t be able to do this.
Besides, he could handle it. You deserved to be given a chance. Perhaps you were an exception, like the girl in Hyunjin’s notebook.
“I’m sure,” Felix said. And so your mutual destruction began.
~~~~
Felix had met you in the library under Changbin’s instruction. Made some small talk, a little bit flirty but nothing too wild. He was surprised to find that you were rather pretty, a clean academic look and mysterious eyes. He was also surprised to find that you were witty, as well. Charming.
Based on the way Changbin had described you, well, you were supposed to be nothing short of a demon sent from hell.
You were both sitting in silence, Felix watching as you translated passages from The Iliad into Greek. Which he had to admit, was undoubtedly impressive.
It was then he noticed how glazed over your eyes were, pupils blown out in hunger, just as Hyunjin had described in his journal. Which meant he also knew that you were struggling, refraining from eating.
That’s when he felt it, that slightest pinch of sympathy. You weren’t eating, which meant you also weren’t sucking people dry in their apartments for their roommates to see. No, you were refraining yourself, and that wasn’t a monstrous thing to do.
The pieces fell like dominos after that. He kissed you. You invited him back to your apartment. You both went inside. You kissed some more.
Then he proceeded to scare the ever living hell out of you.
The look on your face when he told you he knew still haunts him. The sheer terror in your eyes, the unchained panic and fear. It was the kind’ve look someone had right before death. As if he were going to murder you.
He hadn’t expected it. He hadn’t realized that him knowing you were a vampire would be so catastrophic to you. It wasn’t like you told him, he already knew, but that didn’t seem to matter.
He quickly made up a story about his old neighbors being vampires, anything to calm you down. Then, to his own surprise, he offered to let you drink from him.
This wasn’t a part of the plan. If Changbin saw what he was doing now, he’d ring his neck for sure. Yet, Felix was curious, even more so then he was before. This intimacy, this incredible feeling that Hyunjin talked about, was it really true? He wanted to know.
There was also the fact of the matter that he genuinely wanted to help you. You were so scared, so petrified, and he was to blame. You were not a monster. You weren’t. You were just a scared girl who had clearly been starving herself, and if he could help with that, he should, shouldn’t he?
You were hesitant at first, but you agreed. Climbing on top of him, your breath hot against his neck. He braced himself for your fangs. Yet even so, nothing could have prepared him for the feeling of breaking through his skin.
It was painful, a throbbing ache erupting from his neck and flowing throughout the rest of his body. Felix could feel the blood pumping through his veins, escaping through his newly punctured wounds. He grabbed your arm for support, his mouth opening in a cry from the pain. Although, he doubted you could hear him, based on the way you lapped so lavishly at the blood, leaning into him.
Yet, with the pain came an undeniable sense of pleasure, pulsing through his body in waves. A dizzying, overwhelming sense of ecstasy, clouding his mind in a hazy fog of desire. It was overwhelming, how the feeling casted over him, draining him of anything but eachother. Here it was just you and him. There was nothing else. Nothing but the two of you.
He didn’t want anything else. Your name rang through his skull, shattering all other thoughts that existed outside this moment. His vision blurred, all his senses drifting from him. Yet, he didn’t want them. Didn’t need them. All he needed was you. You. You. He felt himself fall back, sinking into the floor, his limbs growing limp.
Then it stopped. You pulled away from him. He blinked, attempting to regain a proper sense of consciousness. He saw your face, your beautiful face, and smiled.
At that moment he understood. He understood it all. How Hyunjin followed down that path, how in the end he didn’t regret it.
He knew he’d come to make all the same mistakes.
~~~~
So your little arrangement continued, and slowly it began to develop into more. While enjoyable, it wasn’t just about the feeding. Not at all.
Felix thought you were incredible, to put it lightly. You were unlike anyone he’d ever met. Clever, kind, selfless. You held an unbelievable sense of passion in everything you did.
His favourite days were the ones spent at your place. The comfort of your bed became his safe place. Your kitchen became his creative outlet. His home whenever he was wrapped in your arms.
No, nothing made Felix more happy than the time he spent with you.
That’s what he thinks of now, walking back home from your apartment, after having told you everything. You were angry of course, feeling lied to, betrayed. He doesn’t blame you. He blames himself.
He blames himself for everything that has happened. He knew what would happen from the beginning, what his sentence would be, he’d seen it all before. Yet, he chose to ignore it. Some little voice inside of him said that he was different, that it was merely unlucky what happened to Hyunjin. That you two would beat the odds.
Felix knows that he had been lying to himself. He knows Hyunjin had been careful, just as much as the two of you had been. He brought this upon himself.
Why? Because he loves you. He can admit it to himself now, after everything that has happened. He isn’t sure if you feel the same, especially after the last couple hours. He doesn’t blame you, if you don’t.
He should have just told you the truth from the beginning, but he didn’t want to lose you by scaring you again. His roommates wouldn’t tell anyone, he’d made sure of it when he talked to Changbin and Han a couple days ago. Now that was a horrible conversation, Changbin still hasn’t spoken to him since.
Felix had told both of them that things hadn’t worked out after the first night he spent with you. That way, he wouldn’t feel pressured in divulging anything you’d told him of The Society. As much as he hated them, so truly hated them, he’d promised you secrecy. He’d honoured that promise as much as he could, even if it ultimately put him in danger.
Yet, that’s not what he’s worried about right now. No, he is thinking of your face that first night you spent together, that look of pure terror. It was something he had never wanted to see again.
That hope was futile, however. As when he told you, he did have to see it again. Watch as your eyes widened, your mouth gaping open and eyebrows furrowed as he told you how his roommates knew. How he came to the library that night looking for you. The details of Hyunjin’s murder.
How a part of Felix knew that his fate could be the same.
You had walked into your kitchen, trying to get yourself away from him. Saying that you needed time to think this all through, and that he should do the same. After all, immortality and eternal bloodlust were two difficult things to be offered.
You told him to leave. He did. He’d said that he would call you within the next couple days, when he came to his decision. Then you’d turn him, if that’s what he decided, and that would be it. He didn’t know what this meant for the two of you afterwards, but there’d be time to figure that out later.
Oh, there would be so much time.
Because Felix already knows what his decision will be.
He hates Vampires. He hates The Society. The way they torment your life, just as they did to the girl in Hyunjin’s notebook. The way they killed Hyunjin. How Chan, someone you once trusted, turned the two of you in without a second thought.
But it doesn’t matter if he hates them. Not anymore.
As in this moment, Felix Lee has decided that he will become one himself.
“What’s going on guys? It’s Conor Maynard here and I’m joined by an old friend of mine.” Conor pointed to Tom.
“Tom Holland.” Tom smiled at the camera.
“You May have heard of him, probably not. He’s not very well known.” Conor joked.
“I know, mate. I’m so lucky you’re putting me on your channel. Could be my big break.” Tom replied.
“My other friend Josh Pieters is in the other room with Toms girlfriend, the incredibly famous and lovely Y/n L/n. If you’ve seen my video where Josh, Casper and I pranked Tom with a fake interview, you already know what’s about to go down. If you don’t, Josh has an AirPod in under his headband. We’re going to be giving him things to say and he has to say them to Y/n. We’re gonna try to really freak her out. Are you ready Tom?”
“Very ready. Y/n, I love you pretty girl but you had this coming.” Tom rubbed his hands together.
“Looks like she’s in the room. Introduce yourself.” Conor instructed. “But make it uncomfortable.”
“Hi, I’m Josh but you can call me Josh.” Josh said with a blank stare. You vaguely recognized the boy interviewing you but you couldn’t pinpoint where he was from.
“Oh uh, hi Josh.” You laughed lightly. “I’m Y/n.”
“Tell her you had a pet called Y/n and something terrible happened to it.” Conor snickered.
“I had a fish called Y/n when I was younger.” Josh informed you.
“Aw, that’s sweet.” You smiled.
“Yeah. It was my best friend until my brother swallowed it alive.” He said with no emotion.
“Oh.” You replied, not knowing what else to say. You began to sense something was off. He was wearing a headband, for one, and he didn’t look like he normally wore them. Someone was up to something.
“Even more uncomfortable.” Tom ordered.
“I’m a big fan so it’s very nice to meet you.” Josh said. “A huge fan actually, if you know what I mean.” Josh gave you a wink and you swallowed thickly. It suddenly dawned on you where you knew him from. He was Josh Pieters, the YouTuber who pranked Tom. You’d seen a number of his prank videos with Casper Lee and Joe Sugg and had a feeling that this one would be no different. If he wanted to prank you, you’d give him a taste of his own medicine.
“Not that uncomfortable!” Tom said.
“Thank you, I appreciate that.” You answered, preparing to have a little fun.
“Be normal. Ask her about the Marvel making Eddie a girl.” Conor said.
“For those who don’t know, the character Eddie Brock, who later gets infected with the symbiote Venom, is a male in the comics. How do you feel about Marvel changing the role to be played by a woman after your audition?” Josh asked. You thought about your answer for a moment.
“I think it was a really dumb move, actually. I originally auditioned for the role of Anne, who’s Eddie Brocks girlfriend. I think they should’ve kept Eddie a boy since women are weak, useless creatures and I hate them all.” You answered matter-of-factly and Josh looked a little taken aback. You nodded as if it confirm your answer and Josh looked lost.
“Oh.” Josh said and leaned to the side as if he were listening to something you couldn’t hear.
“I’m kidding. I love that they made Eddie a girl. I was so excited when they called me and told me who I was playing.” You followed up. You didn’t want them to catch on too soon that you were messing with them. You had to dial it down.
“Ask about the Spider-Man/Venom relationship.” Conor told Josh.
“And me. Ask about me.” Tom added.
“If it fun getting to play Tom Holland’s on screen girlfriend as well as being his in real life girlfriend?” Josh asked you and you smirked. So Tom was behind this as well. Now was your time to really mess with them.
“Not really, if I’m honest.” You answered.
“What?” Conor laughed.
“What?” Tom deadpanned.
“Really?” Josh asked while stifling a laugh.
“It’s just, there are so many attractive men in the Marvel cast, Tom included don’t get me wrong.” You assured him. “I kinda wish they let me date one of them on screen since I already date Tom off screen.”
“Ask her who she’d want to date.” Tom demanded, watching you with hooded eyes.
“Who do you wish you were dating?” Josh asked you.
“Definitely Chris Evans.” You answered too quickly for Toms liking. “Oh, did you mean what character?”
“I’m gonna die. I’m actually going to perish.” Tom backed away from the microphone and covered his mouth with his hands.
“Keep going. Ask more about Tom.” Conor instructed.
“But you like working with Tom, right?” Josh tried to bring the conversation to a positive point.
“Again, not really.” You shrugged.
“Interesting.” Josh stated, silently begging for the boys to tell him what to say. No one was prepared for your answers.
“Ask why.” Conor said as Tom fanned himself in the background.
“Can you elaborate on that?” Josh asked.
“It’s just weird acting along side your boyfriend. I think he should leave the acting me to, honestly.” You smiled innocently, knowing Tom was somewhere freaking out.
“Do you think he’s bad?” Tom grabbed them microphone.
“Do you think he’s bad?” Josh repeated.
“Well, he’s very attractive. I’m sure that was a big factor in getting the part. But his American accent…”, you made a face, “not the best. Being from New York is such a big part of Peter Parker that I feel like Marvel should’ve gone with an American actor. No offense to Tom, of course. He’s great in all his other movies.”
“Wow.” Josh squeaked.
“She told me she loves my American accent.” Tom whispered, bewildered.
“Ask her about her favorite accent.” Conor tried to lighten the mood.
“Do you like British accents better?” Josh asked you.
“I’ll tell you what I like. Chris Hemsworth’s accent.” You gushed. “I think it’s the hottest thing ever.”
“Did you guys hear that?” Tom asked gravely.
“Hear what?” Conor asked him.
“My heart shattering.” Tom answered.
“Tom, it’s just an accent. It’s okay.” Conor assured his friend. Tom couldn’t even hear him anymore. He grabbed the microphone with a heavy hand.
“Ask her if she likes Australians better than the British.” He demanded.
“You think Australian accents are better than British accents?” Josh repeated Toms question.
“Is that even a question? Duh.” You laughed.
“I can’t breath.” Tom wheezed.
“I do like your accent, though.” You said, catching everyone off guard.
“She what?” Tom asked. “What?”
“Oh, thank you.” Josh said, beginning to panic.
“Where are you from?” You asked, leaning forward on your hands.
“South Africa.” Josh told you and you smiled brightly and you continued your plan.
“Wait, really? That’s so exciting. I’ve always wanted to go there.” You beamed.
“Since when?” Conor looked up at Tom.
“She’s never said anything about South Africa.” Tom said in confusion.
“It’s a beautiful place.” Josh agreed.
“I bet. England is so dreary.” You rolled your eyes. “Maybe you can take me to South Africa one day.”
“Maybe.” Josh nodded as he tried to send messages in Morse code by blinking rapidly at the camera. You smirked, knowing your plan was working.
“Change the subject, Josh. Before Tom dies.” Conor ordered.
“Ask her about the wallpaper.” Tom blurted.
“Why the wallpaper?” Conor asked.
“It’s the least romantic topic I could think of!” Tom exclaimed.
“So, this is some really nice wallpaper, wouldn’t you agree?” Josh changed the subject. This threw you off a little but you were determined to win this prank.
“I was just thinking that! You read my mind.” You said excitedly.
“That backfired.” Conor said as he watched Tom fall to the floor in agony.
“Your name is Josh right?” You asked coyly.
“Yes ma’am.” Josh answered.
“I love that name.” You complimented. “I always have.”
“Do you?” Josh’s mouth dried up.
“Totally. It’s so exotic.” You beamed. Toms head snapped up from the floor.
“Exotic? There is a white boy named Josh in every high school movie ever made.” Tom exclaimed. “Exotic compared to what? Toast?”
“Thank you. I like it too.” Josh said awkwardly, wishing the boys would give him something to say.
“It’s so much better than a white bread name like Tom. Who names their kid Tom? What is he, an apostle?” You laughed. “Josh is way cooler in my opinion. It’s like the name of a god or something.”
“A god?” Tom nearly screamed. “What would Josh be the god of?”
“Gingers.” Conor shrugged.
“Thank you.” Josh said and gave the camera a stern glare.
“Tell her about your quail.” Conor suggested.
“That’s perfect. She’ll think he’s a total weirdo! Great thinking Conor.” Tom patted his friend on the back.
“Not exactly my plan, but okay.” Connor nodded.
“Do you have any pets?” Josh began his segway.”
“I do. I have a dog named Tessa.” You answered. “She’s not really my dog, though. She’s Tom’s.”
“I know you’re an animal person. You must love her.” Josh smiled now that the prank was back on track.
“Honestly, I can’t stand her. She’s always sleeping in our bed with us and begging at the table. I’m this close to telling Tom to get rid of her.” You pinched your fingers together and watched Josh go pale.
“That was it. That was the thing that killed me.” Tom mumbled as he slumped in a chair.
“Talk about the quail!” Conor repeated in an effort to save Tom.
“I have a pet too. It’s a quail.” Josh told you proudly.
“A quail? How did you get a quail?” You asked with a smile.
“Well my friends and I bought a carton of quail eggs and put them in an incubator. Only one hatched but I’ve kept her as a pet.” Josh told you the infamous story. You’d seen the video he posted about it but decided to play dumb.
“You saved a quail? That’s amazing.” You gushed as if you’d never heard the story before.
“It was just a fun thing for YouTube but I’ve actually grown quite fond of her.” Josh said, beginning to enjoy the interview.
“That’s the mosh amazing story I’ve ever herad.” You swore. “You’re a hero. A real life hero.”
“Okay. He put a carton of eggs in a hot box. He’s not Mother Theresa.” Tom pouted.
“You and Tom should come over and meet her sometime.” Josh suggested.
“Good. Bring the conversation back to Tom.” Conor nodded.
“Yeah. I’m feeling better now.” Tom agreed.
“Tom doesn’t have time be there. It can just be you and I.” You said as you looked at him through your lashes. Josh looked panicked.
“Never mind.” Tom groaned, clenching his stomach.
“What’s your last name, Josh?” You asked as you twirled some hair around your finger.
“Pieters.” Josh informed you.
“Pieters? That’s so cute. I love the way it sounds. Can you imagine it with my name? Y/n Pieters.” You smiled. “Doesn’t that just sound effervescent?”
“It sounds lovely, Y/n.” Josh said, eyeing you strangely.
“Toms still dead but if he were alive right now, he’d be livid.” Conor sighed as he listened.
“I can hear it. And I am in fact livid.” Tom said from his newly claimed spot on the floor.
“You know who else’s last name sounds good on me? Osterfield.” You were pulling out all the guns now. “I think Y/n Osterfield sounds great. Don’t you agree?”
“Uhhh…” Josh feared for his life if he agreed.
“Don’t you dare agree.” Tom grumbled through the microphone.
“Say you like Y/n Holland best.” Conor suggested.
“That’s good. Say that.” Tom nodded.
“I think Y/n Holland sounds better than both of those.” Josh told you.
“You think?” You made a face. “I actually hate Toms last name. It doesn’t fit with anything. It’s too long.”
“Osterfield is longer.” Josh reminded you.
“I bet Osterfield is longer.” You said and winked at the camera. Tom caught the double meaning and started sweating profusely.
“Ask her if she plans to take my last name when we’re married.” Tom asked, fully panicking now.
“Are you gonna take his last name when you’re married?” Josh repeated.
“Yeah, like we’re getting married.” You laughed.
“She doesn’t want to marry me?” Tom asked, all anger draining from him. It was replaced with devastation and defeat.
“Ask her if she wants to marry Tom.” Conor said as he watched Toms fallen face carefully.
“You guys aren’t planning on getting married?” Josh asked, feeling himself beginning to sweat.
“We are.” You nodded and Tom sighed in relief. “To other people.” You added.
“She killed me and now she’s beating my corpse with a phone book.” Tom said in exasperation.
“Try to change the subject again away from marriage.” Conor pleaded for Toms sake.
“Your hair looks really nice today.” Josh blurted.
“That’s not helping!” Tom shouted.
“Thank you! I really like your hair too. I totally have a thing for gingers.” You nodded.
“Said no one ever!” Tom scoffed.
“Abandon that conversation immediately. New plan! Ask her what her favorite thing about Tom is.” Conor shrugged.
“Speaking of Tom, whats your favorite thing about him?” Josh asked, ignoring the insult from Tom.
“My favorite thing about Tom? That’s easy.” You smiled and Tom did too. “He always puts the toilet seat down after he’s done. I hate when boys leave it up. So, probably that.”
“Her favorite thing about me is how I put the toilet seat down?” Tom asked with a blank stare.
“Ask her something else about him. He’s dying, Josh. He’s on his last leg.” Conor begged.
“Finish this sentence: my boyfriend gives the best…” Josh began.
“Kisses.” You gushed. Josh looked at the camera for approval and he heard Tom sigh happily into the microphone. “Just kidding, he gives the best directions. He’s really good at giving people directions. His kisses are lack luster, but I’m sure that doesn’t surprise anyone.”
“Ask her what in the the absolutely, positively, burning, bloody hell that meant?” Tom quipped.
“Why not?” Josh asked you.
“Do I have to say it?” You asked.
“Make her say it.” Tom ordered.
“Yes.” Josh nodded.
“No lips.” You shrugged.
“Can’t argue with her on that one, mate.” Conor told Tom.
“Can you get her to say one nice thing about me before my ghost ascends into heaven?” Tom sighed in defeat.
“What do you love about him? There must be something, right? Why else would you be together?” Josh asked you. You decided it was time to let up.
“There is something I love about Tom.” You smiled dreamily.
“Thank God.” Tom said, leaning forward to hear you clearly.
“Finally.” Conor after.
“Really? What is it?” Josh asked.
“What I really, truly love about Tom,” you smiled at the camera, “is how he thinks he can prank me better than I can prank him.”
“What?” Josh laughed as he realized you’d be toying with him.
“Wait, what?” Tom stuttered.
“What?” Conor asked at the 50th turn the video had taken.
“Come on, Josh. I smelt BS as soon as I walked in here.” You declared. “You think I haven’t seen Conners video where you pranked Tom exactly like this? You boys must think I’m dumb.”
“Wait a minute, she what? What?” Tom tried to wrap his head around what he was hearing.
“Would you look at that.” Conor said, dumbfounded.
“You knew it was a prank and you let us believe we were pranking you this entire time?” Josh asked, not bothering to hide how impressed he was.
“Yup.” You popped the p.
“Come on.” Tom pulled Connor out of the room and ran to where you and Josh were. You burst out laughing when you saw Toms red face.
“Ha! I knew I’d get you.” You clapped as you pulled Tom into a hug. “You should’ve known better than to challenge me. You know they call me Prank Sinatra.”
“No one calls you that.” He mumbled as his cheeks flamed up in embarrassment that you’d gotten him so good.
“Modern day Prank Ocean.” You shrugged smugly.
“How did you know it was a prank?” Conor asked you.
“I watch you and Josh all the time. I know a prank when I see one. I got you guy so good, thinking I liked the name Josh and all that.” You said triumphantly.
“Hey.” Josh warned.
“Sorry.” You apologized.
“So all your answers were…” Tom began.
“Complete and utter lies?” You finished. “Why yes, yes they were. Every last one.”
“You made all that up? All that stuff about my accent and not liking to work with me?” He asked hopefully, needing to hear you confirm it.
“Obviously! When do I ever say “effervescent”? You should’ve known I was only joking, lover.” You assured him as you pressed a kiss to his lips. “I’d never say that stuff. I love your accent and I love working with you.
“And the marriage stuff?” He said softly. You knew you took it a little too far with that one.
“If you want that to happen, you know what to do.” You shrugged casually and he blushed.
“I cannot believe you pranked us this badly. I feel so defeated.” Conor sighed.
“You shouldn’t have challenged the queen of pranks.” You told him as Tom presses kissed of relief to your cheek.
“Wait, what about what you said about wanting to date Chris Evans?” He remembered.
“Thanks for watching everybody! Bye!” You said to the camera before running out of the room.
“Wait! You didn’t answer my question!” Tom said as he ran after you.
“Don’t forget to subscribe!” You shouted from the hallway.
“What she said.” Conor smiled again the camera before turning it off.
Hideaway.
a place used as a retreat or a hiding place.
The Hogwarts library was a grand room, filled top to bottom with books of all kinds; Fantasy, romance, science fiction, history, anything you could imagine, could be found in the pages of a thick leather bound journal or thin paperback with a cracked spine.
Most students took the library for granted, preferring to spend their time at Hogsmeade or around the lake, but for you, anywhere with too many students was a disaster waiting to happen.
The library was your hide away, a retreat from the prying eyes of the student body. A place you could smile, read and do whatever you pleased without judgement. Madam Pince had practically left this place for you to roam, she was far enough away where you could be at peace from her constant shushing, and because of the lack of students most days, it was usually just you.
The past few months, you’d been slipping into the deep bookshelves to hide yourself, immersing yourself in the text of the wise witches and wizards who had come before you, reading their stories and spells and learning all they knew.
Your safe space became the closed shelves, home smelt like old books and wood, tranquility came in the form of muggle stories and old journals.
While you sat stowed away in a far corner of your hideaway, eyes scanning over the stories of old Greek heroes, Cedric sat in the great hall, eyebrows furrowed in worry.
He had barely seen you since the incident in potions all those months ago, winter had arrived, and he felt strange saying it, but he missed you.
He missed the girl whom he’d never even spoken to.
He missed your eyes filled with strength, holding yourself with pride despite what people believed.
He missed your hair that frames your face so perfectly.
He missed you although he barely knew who you were, and he wanted to see you more than just a quick glance in class before you disappeared through the door.
Cedric wasn’t proud of it, but he began following you after your last class with him, to see where you snuck away to.
The first couple tries resulted in him losing you through the crowd, but he’d managed to catch you slipping into the library on a Saturday morning during breakfast.
His hand hovers over the door knob, mentally debating if he should enter, try his luck at talking to you.
It was Saturday, Hogsmeade weekend. No one was going to be in the library today, he should be alright.
Pushing open the large door, Cedric readjusts his eyes to the dim lighting of the library paired with the bright white light streaming through the windows.
He made sure to be quiet, closing the door and slowly walking through the room, using his lightest steps in hopes not to be noticed.
Pince must’ve been at breakfast because besides the small ruffle of pages being turned in the distance. The library was completely silent.
A small yellow light flickered in the corner of Cedric’s eye, guiding him as you lay unaware, nose stuck in a book.
He follows the sound of paper being turned, and light breathing.
He begins his ascend up a stairway to the second story of the library and through the shelves where he saw the flicker of light.
His heart began to rush as your breathing grew closer. His hands were clenched into fists and his face was flushed. This was it, he was finally going to talk to you.
You sigh in content as you set down the muggle classic ‘To Kill A Mockingbird.’ You lay for a couple moments just staring at the ceiling as you shook your head, maybe you didn’t have it as bad as what others dealt with in the muggle world.
You sit up and pick up the small novel, slipping it back into place on the shelf.
“Harper Lee. I’ll have to read up on her.” You mumble to yourself as you skim the old spines.
Your thoughts are cut short when a shiver runs down your spine and you sense a presence behind you. Swiveling your body, only the sight of rows upon rows of books make themselves present, but you knew better than to believe you were alone.
“Who’s there?” You ask no one in particular.
You’re about to open your mouth again, when a mess of brown hair, pokes out from behind the science fiction shelf.
“H-Hello.” The boy spoke, finally revealing himself from the shelf.
You recognized the boy as the one from your classes. The one you gave the note too.
He doesn’t give up does he?
“If you’re here to make a snide remark, please leave me alone.” You sigh, pulling a random novel from the shelf as you turn and retreat back to your spot.
“I-I would do no such thing.” the boy states, beginning to follow you. “I’m Cedric, Cedric Diggory. We have potions and transfigurations together!”
“I’m aware.” You nod, trying to ignore him.
You almost felt bad for the boy, Cedric. He obviously hadn’t planned this far and his mind was frantically searching for words.
“Look I’m sorry for coming around like this I just-.”
“I don’t need your pity Diggory, now please just leave me be.” You remark, sitting on your blanket laid neatly on the floor.
“No please, y/n right?” Cedric smiles extending his hand.
“I know you know my name Cedric. Everyone at this bloody school does.” You hiss, voice laced with venom, surprising Cedric and causing him to step back.
You don’t mean to be cold, but you were not in the mood to make friends. This was bound to end in disaster, and you didn’t need to add another person to the long list of failed attempts.
“I-I understand, I was just-.”
“Oh that’s rich.” You scoff.
Cedric can see your attempt at being rude, but for some reason, he isn’t hurt by it.
Your eyes are jumping around him, refusing to meet him. Your leg is shaking up and down anxiously. Your hand is massaging the area on your chest your locket should be.
You were nervous.
Cedric takes a deep breath, refocusing himself.
“Look y/n, I just wanted to talk to you, try and become your friend.”
Your eyes flicker down, doubt and fear swim through them as you shuffle away from Cedric, trying to make yourself as small as possible, hoping he’d grow bored and leave.
“W-Where’s that locket you always wear?” He attempts, only causing you to flinch back further and drop your hand from your neck.
“None of your business Diggory.
Cedric wasn’t about to give up, and he took a seat on a chair at a desk not too far from you.
“I-I’m not interested in making friends.” You murmur, cursing yourself for your voice, cursing yourself for being weak.
“There’s no need to be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you.”
“There’s no need to be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you.”
“I’m not here to hurt you.”
Your mind is thrown into a distant memory that haunted you, and your head begins to spin.
The horrid day the aurors surrounded your house.
Your parents clutched you close to them as the wizards holding wands to their throats ripped you from their grasp.
“Take the child for a moment.”
Unfamiliar arms encased you before placing you on the carpet, leaving you as you bawled for your parents. You could only see them being disapparated away as your mother's locket appeared in your hand. Your last piece of her and your father.
The large boots of ministry workers and auror’s stood before you, discussing amongst themselves what to do with you.
“There’s no need to be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you.” One remarks, lifting you up, but holding you an arm lengths away.
“There’s no way people will be safe around her.”
“Her parents have probably already brainwashed her.”
“Can someone shut her up?!”
That was the last thing you heard before the sleeping charm was cast on you.
Your vision goes red, your fists clench and without thinking you pull your wand from your pocket and stomp forwards.
“You said you wouldn’t hurt me, but you ruined my life! You’ll never know what I fucking went through because of your ignorance. I was a child you asshole, I was three and you fucking took my parents from me and left me to die at that god forsaken orphanage!” You scream, eyes clouding with tears as you press your wand closer to someone’s neck, but it slips your mind, who.
“They may have been evil, but they were all I ever had! You should’ve just killed me there, it would’ve been better than living this life!” You rage, bringing your wand to meet their neck.
Cedric stands with his hands beside his face in surrender, his breathing heavy as he watches your grip on your wand tighten and your tears stream down your face.
“Y/n, I-I don’t know what you’re talking about. P-Please don’t hurt me.”
Cedric’s eyes squeeze shut and after a couple moments of silence the sound of wood cluttering on the floor signals him to open them again.
Your hands fly to your face as your legs fail you, dropping you to the ground as you back yourself into the nearest wall, tucking yourself into a ball.
“I-I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry.” You sob, pulling your hair and using your palms to wipe the tears.
“Y/n!”
“No! Stay away from me! I’ll only make it worse.” You sniffle, trying to escape Cedric’s gaze.
“Please just leave me, I’m a monster Cedric, leave before I do hurt you.” You sob, hiding your face again.
Cedric ignores this and slides to the floor next to you, pulling a handkerchief from his book bag and holding it to you.
“No, y/n it’s not your fault. I made you remember something. Didn’t I?” Cedric sighs, sitting in front of you.
“Does it matter? I could have killed you! I’m just like them.” You shout, turning away from the hufflepuff as he turns with you.
“Y/n, look at me. Please look at me.” Cedric pleas.
“You’re afraid of me, admit it.”
“Y/n, I-”
“Admit it Cedric.” You cry, pushing yourself farther away.
“It's not your fault I made you cry y/n. I’m sorry.” Cedric apologizes, gently pulling your hands away from your tear stained cheeks.
“D-don’t touch me. I could have hurt you Cedric. I can’t forgive myself for that.” You whimper, turning your head to avoid his kind grey eyes.
“I’m fine y/n, look at me. You didn’t hurt me, just scared me is all.” Cedric smiles, attempting to reassure you.
“What have I done?”
Cedric’s smile drops at your comment.
“Y/n.” Cedric lifts his hand to wipe the tears from your face.
“No, please don’t.”
Cedric sighs and drops his hand, opting to take your hand into his instead.
“You could never hurt me y/n, please don’t do this to yourself.”
“Oh it’s too late for that Diggory. I’ve been doing this my whole life.” You smile incredulously.
“I’ll always be the daughter of the l/n’s. I’ll never be able to change that. And you saw what I did. I’m just like them.”
Cedric opens his mouth to deny your claim, but you cut him off.
“You know what's funny too? I still miss them, I still wish they’d come to hold me, but I guess that’s just the childhood loneliness talking.”
“Y/n.”
“How could they bring a child into this world after everything they did and expect it to be okay? How could they leave me here?” You whimper as a fresh wave of sadness hits you.
“I’ve been alone everyday of my life Cedric, treated like an animal, a threat, a monster.”
You take a deep breath and allow the tears to flow freely.
“I feel like I’m just payment of a debt my parents owe, l-like I’m nothing.”
Cedric listens intently, slowly stroking the back of your hand and offering the handkerchief to you again.
You shake your head.
“I-I’d like you to go now.” You mumble, retracting your hand from Cedric’s warm grasp.
“Please don’t push me away y/n. If you don’t want my pity I understand, but I really do want to be your friend.” Cedric smiles gently and extends his hand out to you.
Your eyes flash in fear and doubt again, but you accept his outstretched hand.
“You understand how hard it’s gonna be for me to trust you?” You state.
Cedric nods his head.
“You’re not going to be afraid to be seen with me in public?” You push, remembering the first day he saw you.
Cedric freezes for a moment, knowing what you’re referring to, his head fights with his heart, but he knows his answer. He pushes his own fear aside and smiles.
“Why would I? You’re my friend now right?” He chuckles, earning himself a small grin from you.
“You have a beautiful smile you know.”
Your eyes lift from their spot on the floor into Cedric’s bright grey ones.
“T-Thank you.”
Cedric nods, sitting in peaceful silence beside you as you slowly catch your breath.
“Any chance you’d like to meet here tomorrow?” Cedric suggests, scratching the back of his neck.
“I-I’d like that.” You smile, sniffling into your sleeve.
Une seconde avant noël.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lee Ten x reader.
Genre: Christmas, exes, fake dating, feelings realization / Fluff, angst.
Warnings: Vulgar language, alcohol consumption.
Word count: +5.2k.
Prompt chosen: It’s Christmas Eve. It’s the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be.
Plot: What an idea to break up before Christmas, Ten thinks, as he announces to his mother that yes, you will indeed be present at the annual party organized for Christmas Eve.
A/N: This is part of the Walking in a winter wonderland collab hosted by @suh-insane and @neocitybynight.
Tumblr media
"Do you always have to be in my way? Fuck Ten, be careful where you are going!" you growl, looking at the content of the box strewn on the floor. You have a ton of work to finish if you want to have a meal break, and Ten really is not making it easy for you. "You piss me off." you mumble as you kneel to retrieve the glitter bloxes, and sigh in exasperation when you notice of them opened. You'll find glitter everywhere for a month at this point. Who is stupid enough to think of glitter as a passable Christmas present for a child, you think, rolling your eyes.
"Can't you be polite? We have customers, damn it!" you turn your face to Ten who looks at you as if you caused the accident yourself when this idiot was hunched over his phone at the time of the impact. "And you, can't you at least pretend to work instead of checking how many sluts you'll be able to bring in your dingy apartment this weekend?" you stuff the glitters into the box while huffing, you can't take any more. If you didn't need the money so much, you would quit your job this instant.
Ten's chuckle is enough to make you angry once again. You can not stand hearing him and his stupid laugh anymore, and if you looked up at him, you would see his annoying little smile. "Are you jealous?" he asks, and you bite your lip so as not to laugh. They are causing enough commotion in the middle of the store, you do not need your boss to come and see what's going on. "Jealous? But why would I be jealous, Ten. You really need to take the time to think and calm your fucking ego, it's not good for you."
"I'm not saying you are jealous, I'm just saying that worrying about who I can bring back to my apartment is suspicious." you look at him, shaking your head. God damn his face would be beautiful with your fist pressed against. "You're so full of yourself Ten. I don't care what garbage you take home, all I want is for you to get down to work, before if you haven't noticed yet, it is almost Christmas and the store is full of customers."
"Garbage?" he asks, tilting his head, and you turn on your heels. "As far as I know, I took you back to my apartment at one point." it is too much for you. You leave the arts and crafts section, and you put the box at the feet of one of your colleagues who looks at you, incredulous. "I'm going to be sick, can you take care of it." you are not sick, but if you stay with Ten for a minute longer, you will eventually be.
You ignore a client who ask you about an interactive teddy bear they sac on TV, and you know it's wrong, but you have no choice, or you'll end up spitting your venom on a poor innocent person who wants nothing more than to please someone for Christmas. You push the door to the break room, and you walk to the bathroom. As you thought, it's empty. The boss doesn't allow anyone to go while they are working.
You push the door open, and you sit on the closed toilet. It is not the cleanest place, but it is the only place where you'll have time to think, and where you can calm your sudden urges for murder. It's sad to see where the relationship between you and Ten is. It was not always like that. There was a time when you weren't insulting each other at any opportunity, when you could smile at each other without wanting to throw up. There was a time when you were in love, and convinced that you would spend the rest of your life together.
You tense when you hear the door open, and you remain silent, pressing your hand against your mouth, as if it would help you go unnoticed when your feet are visible under the door gap. "Y/n?" of course, there is only Ten to follow you to the toilet. He approaches the door and you see by his movements that he sits on the floor. You grimace, because you do not know how long the cleaning person has stopped washing the once white tiles.
"Ten, it's disgusting on the floor." you mumble, and hear him sigh. "What do you want? What's important enough for you to follow me into the bathroom?" you ask in a voice barely above a whisper. "I am sorry." he says, and you shake your head. This is not the first time you've found yourselves apologizing to each other after a little quarrel in the middle of the store, and you know it won't be the last time either.
"We only have one week left before Christmas, after that we won't have to see each other as much anymore. Can't we make an effort to ignore each other?" your voice is so weak, Ten feels his heart skip a beat. He never wanted the situation between the two of you to become so chaotic. He wanted nothing more than to be happy. Be happy with you.
"But- but I don't want to ignore you." Ten answers, and you get up to open the door. The boy almost rocks forward, since his forehead was pressed against the door. "Ten, you need to learn about the existence of germs on the bathrooms." he smiles weakly, and he stands up too, dusting his uniform pants. "What do you propose?" you ask, cocking your head.
"We're burying the hatchet." Ten crosses his arms against his chest, and you sigh. "Ten, we've already tried dozens of times since we broke up, and it always comes back to the same scenario. It's useless."
For the first time since they broke up, you do not pull back when he puts his hand on your arm. "But we can try. For real this time. We were friends before we were a couple, maybe we can be again?" there is so much hope in his voice, and in his eyes, that you can't afford to deny him anything. "We can try." you finally say, and Ten's smile is so bright that you could almost be blinded.
"Perfect! So will you come with me to the party my parents are hosting for Christmas Eve?" he asks, and this time, you pull back at his touch, and you clench your fist to punch him in the shoulder. He whines loudly and you refrain from not doing it again. "You asshole! Why are you doing this to me?" Every year, the Lee family host a Christmas Eve party. It's always lavish, with beautiful decorations, and exquisite food. You loved spending Christmas Eve with Ten's family. So reminding you that you will not be attending this year hurts.
"But I'm serious!" he explains by rubbing his shoulder. He takes a step back to make sure he doesn't get another hit, he knows you all too well. "You are invited." you frown as you dig your hands into the pockets of your pants. "We are not together anymore, why would you parents invite me?" for a moment Ten looks embarrassed, and he is unable to meet your gaze. "Ten, what are you hiding from me?" he hops from one foot to the other, and you are ready to ask him if he feels like pissing when he opens his mouth to explain. "It may well be that I didn't tell my parents we broke up."
"But why Ten? You told me you did! It's been months now." the fact that he is embarrassed is at least a good thing, he is still human. "I was going to do it, I promise, but my mom started talking about the party, and hse said she missed you and really can't wait to see you. You know how much my mom adores you, I didn't want to break her heart!"
It's really mean to include his mother and her love for you in the story, because he knows you considered Ten's mother like your own when you first met her. "I'll tell them everything after the holidays, I promise! If you come, I'll never ask you anything again, and I'll disappear if that's what you want."
"I hate you, Ten." even though it's a phrase he doesn't like to hear, he knows you do not mean it. At least that's what he hopes, because he doesn't know what he would do if you really hated him. "So?" he asks in a whisper, and you roll your eyes. "I'll come, but this will be the last time I do anything for you. Anything, do you hear me?"
He nods, and he smiles once more. "Good, very good! We'll take my car, and I won't carge you for your share of the gasoline, don't worry." he is so excited that you start to feel the excitement too, but you do not show him, no. You walk to the bathroom door, it's time for you to get back to work, but before you leave, you turn to Ten. "I need my day tomorrow, so I'll let you tell the boss you're going to use your day off to replace me."
The following week is the calmest week you've had since breaking up with Ten. You meet in the store, but you ignore each other. Well, you ignore him every time he tries to talk to you, it's much better than insulting him until he resigns himself to being silent. And when Christmas Eve comes, you wonder if you really made the right decision by agreeing to follow Ten. And pretend to be his partner again.
You wait outside your apartment for Ten to arrive, your hands in the pockets of your coat, and your face niched in your scarf. The cold wind is whipping your face, and the snow have started to fall on the city which is festive with the fairy lights, the decorated trees in the streets, and the laughter of the locas who are eager to come home and celebrate Christmas Eve.
Thanks to Ten, you were able to get out of work early, and also, you won't be spending Christmas on your own. That's the only positive things you can find in this strange situation. Even your friends have told you to text Ten and cancel, they all think it's bad, and they think it will do them more harm than good. And you understand them, you too wonder what will happen after the party is over, once you have to go back to your routine without each other.
But that's life, and sometimes you have to make sacrifices to avoid hurting the people you love, you think with a sigh.
When you feel ready to freeze in place, Ten's car pulls up in front of you, and you huff. Finally. He gets out of the car, and he opens the door. Seeing him do that make you roll your eyes. "I can open a door." you mumble, and when he lifts his big shining eyes, you sigh. "You'll catch a cold, Tennie." he shakes his head, and you get in the car.
You feel a weight being lifted from your shoulder as your warm up, and Ten watches you, smiling when you take off your gloves. "You want a photo, it'll last longer." you say, and he shrugs. "I'm just glad to see you." yeah, you don't believe that lie, he must already be playing his part not to be caught off guard in front of his parents.
Ten starts the engine, and begins to drive out of town. "I had my mom on the phone earlier, she is excited to see you, and so is my dad." you hum. "Me too, I really missed them." Ten's lower lip juts out, and you avoid looking at him, he knows you are weak when he acts like that. But not tonight, no. "Ten, don't forget your promise. We can't do this at every family reunion, you know that, it'll only hurt more every time.
"Yes I know, and I will, I promised, didn't I?" you nod, and you turn your head towards the window. You watch the landscape gently getting cover by a thin layer of white snow as you approach the countryside. You love the city, yes, but you would love to be able to land in the countryside, and have a simple life, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The rest of the road is silent, and you slowly fall asleep, you head against the window, rocked by the vibrations. It's Ten's hand on your shoulder that wakes you up. He is out in the car, and you notice that it is now dark outside. You stand up, yawning. "We're here." he says. The Lee family house is impressive, and decorated with lights. It is really beautiful, and you expected no less from Mrs. Lee whose favorite holiday is Christmas.
You get your bag and get out of the car. Your legs are numb, so you take Ten's arm to avoid tripping in the snow. Yeah, that would be fun, but you do not really want to soil your clothes now. Maybe later. You stop in front of the door, and Ten turns to you. "Ready?" and when you nod, he knocks on the door.
It only takes a minute for the door to open on Ten's mother. She looks at the both of you, and she smiles with a sweetness all her own. "My loves, how happy I am to see you! Come in or you'll get sick." Ten lets you pass, and when you enter, you are immediately engulfed in a hug. You melt, you can't help it. You feel like coming home, and god damn your heart hurt at the realization.
Ten clears his throat, and you refrain from laughing. When Mrs. Lee lets you take a step back, you both turn to the boy who frowns. "Impatient." his mother says before taking him in her arms in turn, for a shorter moment. You are pretty proud of it. "Come into the living room, the guests have already arrived."
You follow her into the living room, and you greet the guests. You and Ten have been together for a few years, so you know all of the family and friends who are used to being invited every year. "Ah, the lovers have arrived!" his father says, and you nod. You put the gifts you brought in your bag at the foot of the three, and you smile. You had a great time looking for the perfect gifts.
Immediately, you are taken aside by Ten's sister who is surprised to see you here. She is the only one in this room, besides Ten himself, who knows about your situation. Because yes, maybe you were drunk one night and called her, crying to complain about the ordeal your life had been like since breaking up with Ten. Tern is younger, but she is quite scary, so you hardly swallow your saliva when she comes face to face with you.
"What is this mess?" she asks in a whisper. "Did you get back together?" you worry your lower lip, giving Ten a furtive glance, he seems to be in the middle of a heated discussion with his father, and you shake your head. "Ten didn't say anything to your parents, so he asked me to come over, so as not to break the holiday spirit." you mumble, and if the Lee family was not there, you know Tern would go and slap her brother right away.
"You both are idiots." Tern says, and you shoulders slup. "Are you masochistic or what? Do you like hurting yourself?" you do not know what to say, you are just here to help Ten. "I know it's not the right thing to do, but it's Christmas Eve, so I'm going to pretend it's okay, smile, laugh, and be happy beofre I go back everyday life without Ten."
Tern sighs, tilting her head. "Is that what you want?" she asks before resuming. "Go back to a life without Ten? Because a person who has no more feelings would never agree to help their ex." That's the question, you don't know how you feel, your head is empty and your heart is a mess, it's been like this since Ten left. So you shrug. "I don't know Tern."
As you are about to speak, you are called out by Ten's mother who beckons you to approach. "Come help me in the kitchen for a minute, please." you nod, apologizing to Tern before joining her. There's nothing more to do, so you frown. "It's the only way to have some time with you without Ten jumping on you." she explains, and you can't help but laugh. "He learned to behave in public, don't worry."
"Is everything okay?" Ten's mother asks, and you nod. She looks worried, and for a second, you feel ready to tell her everything, but you can't, you promised Ten, and as he said himself, he doesn't want to hurt her, and neither do you. Not tonight anyway. "I'm asking because it's been a while since we've last seen you."
You nod. It's true that before, you used to visit the Lee family a couple of times each month, even though Ten was busy at work, and even more during the month of December, used to help Mrs. Lee prepare Christmas Eve. But being convinced that Ten had warned his parents, you did not do it anymore, you found it inappropriate.
"I was overwhelmed with work, I'm so sorry. But it's true that I should at least give given you a call." you explain in a weak voice, and the older woman shakes her head, placing a hand on your shoulder. "You have a job, you have a life, you have you own family, so you don't have to apologize for not having time. I get it, I was your age once."
You blame yourself more and more for the pain you are going to cause her, but you bite the inside of your cheek. Sometimes things don't go as planned, and you have to adapt. "And with Ten, is everything going well?" the question you would have liked to avoid. But you smile. "Everything is not perfect every day, but we both make an effort, because our relationship deserves it." Ten's mother smiles, she is proud to hear that her son has matured enough to do whatever it takes to keep his relationship healthy, and going.
"Don't hesitate to tell me if he crosses the line, then I'll give him a piece of my mind, believe me!" you laugh softly. You know that Mrs. Lee is, and will always be, there to help you. At least for now. But you need to stop thinking about the future, and focus on the present. You need to enjoy this last night you have with your surrogate family. "Thank you Ms. Lee, I appreciate that."
When she offers to return to the living room so as not to worry the guests, you follow her. Ten is still talking with his father, but the conversation seems to have calmed down, and you are happy. You know that the two men are used to arguing, and you have witnessed some rather disturbing scenes already, and you do not want that to happen again. You do not want to have to pick up Ten again.
"Everything okay?" you jump when Ten comes up behind you, and you turn to him. His cheeks are flushed, and you pursue your lips to stifle a laugh. "Don't tell me, your grandmother's friend?" he shakes his head with a poud, he doesn't like it when old little ladies pull his cheeks, it hurts. "My poor child. Maybe she'll stop someday."
"When she is in a coffin, yeah." Ten mumbles, and you put your hand over your mouth. "Don't say such things, Tennie!" you giggle and he smiles. He likes to be the reason for your laughter. "But to answer your question, yes, everything is fine. Your sister was a little surprised to see me here, but outside of that, like clockwork!"
Ten nods, and takes a sip from his glass of wine. He looks around him. The three, the decorations, his family, their friends, and you, and for a minute, he completely forgets that things are not the same as last year. Nothing is as before, everything is only an act. And when he turns his head towards you, and sees the lights of the tree reflected in your eyes, he thinks to himself that maybe, it was not a good idea.
See, you and Ten had a long relationship. You are his first love, and he always hoped that you would be his last. And to be honest, he still hopes so. But he knows that despite everything that has happened, all the insults you have exchanged, it would take very little time for him to fall in love again. No, he wouldn't need time at all, he is still in love, he always will be, he knows it deep down inside of him. And seeing you here, acting as your girlfriend, knowing that you'll probably never will be again, hurts like a bitch.
You think the same, and it hurts you too, but you both have too much pride to say it.
You then meet around the table, enjoying a fabulous feast prepared by Mrs. Lee. That's what you'll missed the most, the food. Ten is next to you, and every now and then, he leans in to whisper a joke in your ear. It's a tradition that you have, you try to make the other laugh, and get all eyes on yourself, knowing that it will be too inappropriate for you to say the joke out loud. At least some things are not changing.
You honestly can't remember the last time you had such a good time with Ten without it ending in an argument. What you do not notice is Tern's gaze. She watches you both, frowning. She can read between the lines. She knows that you still love each other, but are also too stupid to admit it.
The meal stretches over two hours, and when you finish, a full stomach, and ready to explode, it's time to open the presents. You get up from your chair and collect the packages. You give one to Ten's parents, one to Tern, and the last one, you hand it to Ten who titls his head. "You didn't have to, you know." he says in a whisper, and you shrug. "I know, but I got it before.. well before you know what."
Ten also gives you a present, and you arch an eyebrow at him. "I didn't want to see you pout thinking I forgot about you." he mumbles, and you smile. You open the present, and sigh. Inside is your favorite book, but not just any, the very first edition. It's old, rare, and probably extremely expensive. "Ten.." you whisper, and the boy smiles. "I know you've always dreamed of it."
What makes your heart beat a little faster is not that he gave you the book, but that he remembered it, because you only mentioned it once almost two years ago. Perhaps accusing him of never paying attention was wrong, now that you think about it. "Thank you so much Ten, you have no idea how happy this makes me." you lean over, and place a tender kiss on his cheek. And when you take a step back, you notice the rosy tint on Ten's cheeks. Cute.
"Come on, open yours!" Ten nods a minute later, the poor man needs to recover from the sudden physical contact first, then, he unwraps his present. If there is ont think Ten loves more than himself, and you, it's his watch. His father gave him his own watch for his 18th birthday, and it quickly became his most precious item, and unfortunately, he broke it a few months ago.
He thought it was irreparable, but nothing is ever irreparable, so you grabbed it one morning, and sent it over to have it fixed. It's not much for you, but when you see the tears in Ten's eyes, you knows that it was a perfect idea. "I thought I lost it." he says under his breath, and you shake your head. "I took it from you, wanted to surprise you, but I didn't expect it to take that long. I'm really sorry if I worried you."
Ten shakes his head, and he wipes his tears with his free hand, before a smile spreads over his beautiful face. "This deserves a kiss!" Ten's mother exclaims, and you hear Tern sigh loudly. "Mom, don't embarrass them." you are grateful for Ten, but you have to do it. So once more you take a step forward, and you cup Ten's face, and your face meet in the middle for a long, and soft kiss. Yeah, maybe you wanted to kiss him too. And for a while now.
"How beautiful young love is!" one person comments, and you smile weakly. Ten does the same, and you help him put the watch around his wrist. "Thank you, thank you. I don't think I will ever have enough words to thank you. It's the most perfect present." he says in a long sigh, and you smile. "I knew how much you cared about this watch." you run your fingers through Ten's hair to pull it out of his face, and realize how easy it is for you to fall back on your old habits.
The rest of the evening goes well.
You sit on the couch with Ten, and you listen to the stories the family members are telling, laughing every now and then, but you can't really focus with the heat radiating from Ten's body. Proximity in your hands. It would be so easy to take his hand, or rest your head on his shoulder.
Why the hell not, you think, it's Christmas, and you are supposed to be acting, so might as well make the most of it. You rest your head on Ten's shoulder, and if he is suprised, he doesn't show it, he lands a kiss on the top of your head. You feel his shoulders relax and you smile. You always have the same calming effect on each other. True love, but you refuse to think about it.
It's getting late, and you can't seem to suppress a long yawn, Ten notices. He stands up and you pout at the sudden lack of contact, and you sit up. "We're going to go mom, we still have a way to go, and it's snowing again." she nods, albeit a little sad, but she knows it would be too dangerous for Ten to drive if he is tired, of if there is too much snow.
"Thank you for coming, my loves, it made me very happy." once again, you find yourself engulfed in a long her that you give back with pleasure. And you thank her and Ten's father again and again for the invitation. And in a few minutes, you find yourself in front of the car. Tern follows closely behind you, and before Ten gets into the car, she puts her hand on his shoulder to take him aside. "Take care of yourself, and your heart, okay?"
Ten nods. "Don't worry, I know what to do to keep my heart safe." he looks at you to see if you heard him, but no, you are half asleep on the seat, and you would not even hear if a bomb were to explode near your ear. "Really, don't worry." he places a kiss on his sister's cheek, and he gets into the car after making sur the passenger door is closed. You collapsed into the seat, your new book clutched to your chest.
"It was a very good evening. You family is amazing." you say, and Ten can only agree. "You are right. Thank you for coming." you smile and lean your head against the window. You do not want to fall asleep, you want to enjoy your last moments with Ten, but unfortunately, fatigue quickly gets the better of you, and when you open your eyes, the car is already parked in front of your apartment complex.
"Thanks for taking me home, and thanks again for the book." you lean in to kiss the corner of his lips, but before Ten can say anything, you get out of the car. He opens the window, and you turns to him. "Have a good night, Ten." his fingers tighten around the steering wheel, and you see that he wants to say something, but he holds back. "Good night Y/n, and merry Christmas."
You walk towards the door that leads to the lobby, but the sound of the door opening and closing catches your attention. You turn around and find Ten in front of the car. You embrace your body with your arms to fight against the cold. "What are you doing, Ten?" you ask, and the boy finally approaches. He's so close you can feel his breath against your lips. "Would you like to go have coffee tomorrow? And maybe we can go check out the Christmas lights."
You smile, and you nod. "I would love this, Ten." his smile is as bright as the moon, and you chuckle softly when he places a small kiss on your lips before heading back to his car, not without a victory move that almost makes him trip in the snow.
It’s Christmas Eve. It’s the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be.
And maybe sometimes, you can decide to stay that kind of people.
