“And of course the boys swept the competition,” y/n explains, falling back on Jiwoo’s couch with a definitive plunk. Bogum, Hana, and Mina are still staring wide eyed at the posh Seoul apartment Jiwoo’s husband to be picked out for them. Jiwoo herself has ‘oohed’ and ‘ahhed’ through her sister’s entire play-by-play but now she circles around the loft to offer drinks to her new guests.

y/n snuggles an obnoxiously tasseled throw pillow to her chest and beckons for Bogum to sit beside her. He grins at her, eager to be near her, and settles obediently beside her. Mostly, y/n is thrilled by his presence but there is still a small part of her heart that twinges. Why couldn’t Tae want her like this? As soon as the intrusive thought rises up, she shoves it back down.

To hell with Tae, she thinks but she knows that hating him isn’t in the cards either. She boxed herself into a paradox trying to keep him in her life without revealing her feelings. They are growing apart but they’ll never leave each other’s lives. She’s stuck in Kim Taehyung limbo.

She shakes her head as if this will remove him from her brain and reaches over to take Bogum’s hand in hers. His palm is warm and she likes the way his long fingers tangle through hers easily as if they are meant to slot together. It’s only been a week but it’s easy to be with him.

y/n doesn’t admit to herself that it’s only been easy because Tae and Bogum have yet to cross paths.

Jiwoo pulls y/n out of her muddled thoughts with a glass of chilled red wine and a warning, “If you spill that on my pillows, the hubs might kill you. He’s already mad that I spent so much money on them!”

“Is he coming tonight?” Mina asks from the kitchen where she’s taken up post assembling a charcuterie board.

Jiwoo sighs, “He said he’d try but knowing his boss, he won’t be home anytime soon.”

“Sucks,” Mina sympathizes. y/n loves Mina. She always seems to know when to keep her comments short and when to pull out the dramatics. Maybe she’s learned this from having to deal with Jin’s antics all this time or maybe she’s always been this way and that’s why they work. Either way, y/n is happy they got together.

“What does he do?” Hana asks politely, her gaze trained on Jiwoo’s mini art collection.

Jiwoo laughs and sips her own wine before answering, “He is a boring, old businessman and he’s my favorite person on the planet!”

“He’s literally the Bruce Wayne of businessmen,” y/n amends, “By day, he is boring. By night, who knows what he’ll do.”

Hana, Bogum, and Mina are intrigued by this mystery man.

“Is he some kind of vigilante?” Bogum asks.

“He’s crazy and he’s rich. He took Jiwoo to Paris on like their third date,” y/n explains.

Jiwoo jokes, “The man basically bought my love!”

Before any of them have time to unpack Jiwoo’s relationship, the door to the loft flings open and the Boy Scouts traipse inside. None of them feels out of place in this apartment which is basically an extension of the Jung household and therefore home to them but they still all stop to greet Jiwoo first.

y/n tries — she really does! — not to notice Tae as he walks through the door but how can she not? She’s been aware of his presence since they met in grade school and it’s not as if she can turn off her Tae Radar with a snap of her fingers. She’s tried.

Instead, she squeezes Bogum’s hand and pulls him to his feet so they can greet the other Boy Scouts together. She starts with Hobi, butting her head against his chest like she used to do when they were little. He laughs, ruffling her hair, and pulls her into a side hug so she doesn’t have to break her tether to Bogum.

“You were amazing up there!” she whispers excitedly, “And I think I overheard a scout with the Korea National Ballet say he was interested in you!”

Namjoon, overhearing this, slings an arm over Hobi’s shoulders and confirms, “Our Hoba was approached by several talent scouts tonight actually!”

y/n doesn’t miss the way that Hobi’s eyes flicker to Yoongi at this announcement nor does she miss the way that Yoongi beelines for the kitchen to pour himself a drink. She bites her lip, already brainstorming how she can course correct this.

“That’s amazing, Hobi!” Bogum says, giving him a congratulatory slap on the shoulder.

“Thanks!” Hobi laughs.

“The rest of you were fantastic too,” y/n says. She gives Jimin a purposeful wink so he knows her comment is very much directed at him. He danced his heart out up there and she knows how important it was for him to win. He blushes and covers his face at her compliment.

The boys all clamor to talk over one another about the competition after that and soon they’ve drifted all around the loft to chat. It isn’t long before their back-up dancers arrive and then several more friends from school and work join the fray as well. y/n is just about to settle back on the couch with Bogum, proud of herself for having successfully avoided Tae, when an all too familiar grip circles her wrist and spins her back around.

They haven’t talked one on one since the night he texted her about her first date with Bogum and she can see the pain in his eyes. It makes her heart leap into her throat and she hopes he can’t read her face as easily as she can read his.

“Do I not get a congratulations from my best friend then?” he asks. Hana swats his arm.

“Don’t be so aggressive, Taebear!” she scolds.

“TAEBEAR!” Jungkook roars from a few feet away and then makes a gagging sound. Tae’s eyes tighten, the only indication he’s embarrassed, but Hana covers her mouth with visible regret that she’s spoken the pet name in firing range of his buddies. y/n would like nothing more than to gag too but she can’t leave Hana to be embarrassed and she immediately diffuses the situation.

Rolling her eyes, she leans up on her tiptoes to wrap her free arm around Tae’s neck, the other still firmly tethered to Bogum, and pulls him close. She means for it only to be a short hug. She means to slap him on the back of the head for being so dramatic but he wraps his arms tightly around her and pulls her other hand free of Bogum.

“I miss you,” he whispers in her ear like the whole party isn’t watching them. Like he hasn’t just yanked her away from her boyfriend who he still hasn’t introduced himself to. Like his girlfriend isn’t right there.

“Yeah, yeah,” she replies loudly and, though she’d gladly stand there forever with his arms around her and his breath hot on her ear, she is apparently the only one of them with any decency for the people around them, “Congratulations or whatever!”

She turns back to Bogum to find his usually genial expression replaced with stone. She tosses her head, grinning at him, as if to say, ‘get a load of this guy, am I right?’ Thankfully it works. He holds out his hand to her and quickly twines their fingers together again.

“Oh yeah, you’re the L word guy, right?” Tae asks, leaning around y/n to greet Bogum.

Bogum lifts an eyebrow at y/n and she shrugs. The boys shake hands as Bogum agrees, “Yeah! I guess I am! It’s nice to finally meet you. Tae, right?”

Tae clutches at his chest, pretending to be wounded, “She didn’t tell you about me? I’m only her favorite person ever!”

Why is he being so dramatic? y/n would rather bury herself alive than deal with this second hand embarrassment. She scowls at him, hoping it’s enough warning to get him to shut up, but Tae only winks and

presses on, “it’s kind of weird that you said the L word to her before you ever met her, don’t you think?”

Somewhere further away y/n thinks she hears Jiwoo mutter something about murder.

“You don’t think she’s appealing enough to be loved at first sight?” Bogum counters. A hush falls over the room.

“Of course she is,” Tae agrees. y/n does not like this stand off that’s going down. She looks helplessly to Hana as if this girl can somehow rein in her man but y/n knows better than anyone that Tae can’t be stopped once he gets going. “I just find it suspicious that you would say it to her so quickly. Kind of makes it seem like you have ulterior motives, you know?”

“I can assure you I don’t,” Bogum says evenly. He even manages a smile.

Hana pats Tae’s arm, sensing an opportunity to pull her boyfriend away from a pissing match, and says, “Let’s go get you a glass of wine! We should celebrate what an amazing job you did tonight!”

Everyone in the loft seems to let out a simultaneous breath and the party resumes.

“I think he likes me,” Bogum says, only the slightest hint of sarcasm in his tone. y/n laughs, pulling him after her to Jiwoo’s balcony so they can get some fresh air, and agrees, “Oh, you’re like his favorite person ever, I can tell!”

The music and chatter of the party waft across the balcony when the back door opens. y/n has carefully been studying the city skyline with Bogum but they both look up at the noise. Hana and Tae step through the door waving politely to the couple. y/n waves back, a signal that they can join them, and then quickly turns to Bogum.

“If he goes off again, we’re leaving, okay?”

Bogum tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear and smiles, “It’ll be fine, y/n, he doesn’t bother me.”

They had spent the last fifteen minutes or so talking about her best friend’s bizarre behavior and while y/n was utterly confused by it, Bogum had a feeling he knew exactly why the boy would be reacting that way. Romantically or not, Tae was jealous but Bogum was old enough now not to be fazed by the antics of jealous boys. Who wouldn’t be jealous of the guy who won the heart of a girl like y/n?

“Hi,” Hana chirps, sliding onto one of Jiwoo’s wicker benches. y/n returns her warm smile before pointedly directing her gaze back to the city without a word to Tae. He sits, chagrined, by his girlfriend and for a few beats all four of them are silent.

“I’m sorry,” Tae finally spits out, “I don’t know what came over me in there but whatever it was, it was no reason to talk to you like that. It’s nice to finally meet you, Bogum, I’m Kim Taehyung.”

Bogum nods, accepting the apology easily enough, and sticks out his hand to Tae. They shake like old friends. The conversation is smooth after that but it’s artificial and y/n wonders if she’s the only one who can tell. Hana and Bogum seem immersed enough, relieved that the tense atmosphere has dissipated but when she catches Tae’s eye, she can see.

He’s putting on a show.

friday love & the shadow puppets → vinyl, puppets #1.

[ june 13th, 1987 ] the shadow puppets release their first vinyl.

Safety Pin was the debut vinyl record released by the label Pacific Record’s newest band at the time, the Shadow Puppets. It arrived in record stores on June 13th, 1987, with a total of ten songs, Seven Nation Army serving as its lead single and the only song getting a free pass to an official video on MTV.

🧷 background & production.

The band had just signed a contract with the label when the productions for the album started. It's said to be one of the fastest records to reach its final result. Turns out the band already had all of the lyrics written, when the famous producer, Min Yoongi, started working on it. With minor lyrics changes made by the producer himself, paired with his knowledge of everything instrumental, the album got to see the spotlight only a month after the Puppets' arrival at the label.

Safety Pin was not only a go-getter, filled with the band's wanting of turning themselves into propper rockstars, but also contained the moody struggles of the young artists. Needless to say, the concept was everything stage, lights, and a lot of rock and roll!

🧷 the lyrics & behind stories.

Thunderstruck,

is marked by the first guitar riff of the exceptional Jung Hoseok, and the whole band shouting 'Thunder' every time the powerful and eclectic vocalist Jeon Jungkook finishes his sentences. In a quick interview with the press, JK clarified he co-wrote the song with the band's rhythmic guitarist when they were all having a good time in Texas. "It was the beginning of everything for us," the vocalist shared, "Although we had been playing together ever since school, it was the first time we had quit our jobs and started taking the band seriously. That's why we celebrated so much!" JK concluded making everyone laugh.

Brianstorm,

was one of those songs that took everyone by surprise much like its lyrics and from who it was inspired. The song that made multiple appearances on the most famous radio station due to fans' requests, was inspired by a real person. That's right! "There was this guy... Brian," Taehyung, the band's bassist, shared, "He came to us after a small gig. The guy was a real character!" he laughed. JK also added the motive behind the lyrics he composed, "He came to us trying to offer to be our manager at the time, and he had this weird necktie and even gave us a business card. Brian left us such a lasting impression that after he was gone we brainstormed about him... Hence the whole 'Brianstorm' title pun".

No Surprises,

there are few songs quite as desolate and quite as beautiful as this. Compared to the other tracks on their vinyl, this one is as lush and melodic as it is filled with dread and despair. Although many of the fans got worried for the artists, as rumors of it being about suicid* were raised, JK clarified, later on, that he had written the piece in difficult times for him but it had nothing to do with the topic. "At the time I felt very much lost... The way I was living my life, the job I had... Like I was shaking the hand of the things that slowly kill us in the end. You may get a pretty house or a pretty garden but you're not really satisfied or happy on the inside, you know? It was that kind of feeling I had in mind when writing this." the singer explained.

In a Broken Dream,

is yet another moody and charming composition of the album. It's marked by another of Hoseok's brilliant riffs, as well as an emotional performance throughout the entirety of this title. JK's voice will for sure leave you speechless and the lyricism of it will hit you straight to the heart. "I wrote this one the same day I did 'No Surprises'... Yeah, I was down that day," JK laughs it out, charismatic as ever, "It's about spending your life dreaming about opportunities as opposed to actually going out and living them... Like never actually living in reality but in a broken dream." he further explained. The rockstar is said to have worked a couple of different jobs before taking action to pursue what he truly wanted: music.

Lonely Boy,

shows that when it comes to matters of the heart, the Shadow Puppets aren't always the nice guys. It comes across as a vulnerable anthem but also contains bits of bitter shots and blatant arrogance. Still, the song has a groovy beat that made many bang their heads along! "I don't know if I'm supposed to say but yeah, it's totally about his first girlfriend," the drummer, Jimin, exposed the composition of this upbeat, organ-tinged, song made by his bandmate JK.

Some Might Say,

is where Kim Taehyung shines with a brilliant bass line. And although JK had made another melancholic lyric, the sound of this one is nothing but euphoric. "The melody was meant to say that everything's gonna be alright" the heartthrob confessed. Apart from that, there isn't much regarding the lyrics, just what we can conclude: it's a series of thoughts and opinions that someday crowded our dear vocalist's head.

Seven Nation Army,

"Tells the tale of a person that goes out of town and then comes back, and is engulfed in a sea of lies and gossip," JK recalls, "I remember the first time I got back to my hometown after having some small gigs with the boys outta town... All I heard was 'But is it true' or 'Did you really do this or that'. I got frustrated. I got to understand that every situation has a bad and a good side to it, with fame it's just the same... As for the melody of it, I stumbled upon the riff while warming up my guitar. Pure luck, I guess!" He laughs. Frustrations set aside, we can all agree that from Queen of England to the hounds of hell, just about anyone can sing Seven Nation Army's hypnotic riff!

Rockstar,

it’s a clever piece of subversion, detailing the "benefits" of rock'n'roll stardom although it also takes jabs at fame's corrosive side. "None of it is autobiographical," says JK. "It's all supposed to be silly things, kinda like what we used to think about the industry but amplified exponentially. That sort of silliness is sort of what we wanted to do when we sat together and started throwing ideas." Jimin adds as the rest of the Puppets agree and laugh, probably remembering the moment.

Come Together,

is one of the tracks that there isn't much information about besides the fact that it was co-written by the best friends of the band: JK and Taehyung. It had been said previously they had it written early on in life when they were still in school and being a tad rebellious. Apart from that, there's only a comment from Taehyung about it, "It's a funky track, might be one of my favorites... It's funky, it's bluesy, and we both sing it together pretty well. I like the sound of it... You can dance to it. I'd buy it!", well, Tae, so will we!

Wake Me up When September Ends,

it's one we can get emotional with, even though we don't know the real reason behind its lyricism. We can only assume since the Shadow Puppets vocalist and the frontman refuses to explain it. The same occurs with the bandmates. Even so, the introductory drums are the cherry on top, and Jungkook's voice pierces our souls just like we like it. More so, it's the perfect song to end the album, as the feeling we are left with is of 'just please wake me up only and if the Shadow Puppets have released their second album'!

The End is You and I [Taehyung x Reader]

29. Double Date ✎

y/n slides into the booth across from Tae, her heart pounding with anxiety about how this night is going to unfold. Bogum rests a hand on her knee and gives a gentle squeeze to reassure her. He spent the entire drive over telling her that if things got out of hand again or if she was feeling uncomfortable at all, she only had to give him the signal and they would leave, no questions asked.

She turns her head to give him a gentle smile and then directs her gaze to the whorls in the wooden table top. She can feel Tae’s eyes on her and she knows he wants her to look at him, to see the sincerity in his eyes as he tries to mend the friendship he has nearly broken, but y/n doesn’t know if she can stand it. If she looks at him, she knows her heart will betray her and she can’t keep letting him have that power over her.

“Thanks for coming!” Tae says when he realizes that he’s not going to have the wordless conversation with y/n that he wants to have.

“Thanks for inviting us!” Bogum replies.

Silence falls on the table then, no one knowing what to say, and y/n fights back the cringe she can feel wrinkling her features. It seems like it’s always up to her to break the tension and she’s frantically searching for something to say when Hana giggles.

“Well, I can see this dinner conversation is off to a great start!” she jokes and then, lifting her menu, asks, “How do you feel about sharing rolls? We could all order something different to try!”

“That’s the only way to do it, honestly!” y/n agrees and scans her own menu.

Tae scoffs, “You only like the rolls covered in eel sauce. Are you telling me you’re going to eat shrimp tonight if we order it?”

y/n finally looks at him, her eyes narrowed, “How dare you betray my secrets at this table?”

For a moment, Hana and Bogum look at each other worriedly. They’re significant others promised there would be no fighting at this dinner and they haven’t even made it five minutes in…

Taehyung and y/n burst into laughter at the same time.

“Order shrimp if you want! I’ll just give mine to you like I always do,” y/n says and then continues scanning the menu for a new roll to try. Tae was right when he said she only liked the ones with eel sauce; y/n doesn’t bother reading the description unless there’s eel somewhere in it.

“I like shrimp too, you know,” Bogum comments, leaning his arm into y/n a little bit. She blinks up at him and then flashes a chagrined smile.

“Oh, of course! Then you can have my shrimp!”

“Hey!” Tae pouts. On the inside, he finds himself very upset at the loss of y/n’s shrimp. Not because he’s exceptionally interested in shellfish but because it’s always been him who gets her shrimp, the same way it’s always y/n who gets his cucumbers when they’re served in banchan.

But at her raised eyebrow, he reminds himself that he is making things up to her and Bogum and Hana tonight and that he can’t throw a fit over shellfish. He has to prove to them that he isn’t jealous of the fact that y/n is now in a relationship. Why should he be when he has Hana, who is as beautiful and intelligent and engaging as they come?

“I hope you treasure those shrimps, Bogum! They’re always better off someone else’s plate!” he jokes instead. Hana pats his arm.

“Don’t worry, jagi, you can have my shrimp if you want,” she says.

Jagi? he thinks. This is the first time she has called him that and he’s not sure if he likes hearing it. He glances at y/n to gauge her reaction but she has lowered her eyes to the menu, her face stony and unreadable to him. Will she tease him about it later? Does Bogum call her jagi? He shakes his head. He shouldn’t care about that.

Dinner is a huge success. Tae is in the middle of regaling them with another embarrassing story from his and y/n’s youth. y/n is shading her eyes in mock horror as he exaggerates how she thought she had locked herself inside the school one night after studying too long in the library and the long voicemail she had left him when he hadn’t picked up his phone to come save her.

Bogum rubs her back, laughing, and assures her, “There’s nothing to be embarrassed of. You sound very cute!”

“Oh she was,” Tae agrees, ��Actually, I saved the voicemail if you want to hear it!”

“Tae!” y/n nearly shrieks, snatching his phone from his hands, “if you play that voicemail, I’ll kill you!”

“That’s pretty amazing you would save something like that for so long, Taebear! I didn’t realize you were so sentimental!” Hana exclaims, her tone a little too high pitched to be genuine. y/n feels the tension from the beginning of the meal slither back in and she does a quick recap of their whole dinner conversation in her head.

They have dominated the conversation with reminiscences of their friendship and while that has healed some of the ache in y/n’s chest, she realizes that Hana and Bogum couldn’t possibly take it the same way.

She clears her throat and jokes, “I don’t think it’s sentimentality as much as it’s blackmail! But Hana, I know it’s been a few weeks but weren’t you telling me about the competition you entered your sculpture into? How did that go?”

The shift in conversation is abrupt and noticeable but it’s enough to move the conversation away from what’s happening between her and Tae. She kicks his leg under the table, a warning to focus on his girlfriend and not her. Favorite person or not, Hana should be the center of his attention.

“Oh, I placed second!” Hana exclaims and with a little prodding from Tae, who thankfully got the hint from his now aching shin, she goes into detail about how the art competition works and how she was up against professionals in the field and not just other students so second place was a pretty big deal.

Halfway through her description of her sculpture to Bogum, the waiter comes back and asks if they will be wanting desserts. Taehyung and y/n chorus for fried ice cream, the way they’ve done a million times in the past. The waiter laughs and then looks to Bogum and Hana, “And for you two?”

y/n’s eyes bug out of her head at about the same time that Hana’s lips press into a thin line. The implication that y/n is here with Tae so Hana and Bogum must be the other couple is too much for the unspoken truce the four of them have come to. She does her best to salvage things but she wonders if it will be enough.

“One fried ice cream, four spoons,” she explains. The waiter nods and walks away, oblivious of his faux pas.

It isn’t enough.

Hana is quiet through dessert and doesn’t even tease Tae about footing the bill. He and Bogum split it and everyone shuffles out of the booth a little awkwardly, heading for the door. Outside, they congregate in a little circle to say their goodbyes.

“Well, tonight was… better,” y/n says. Tae brightens at this assessment. He knows he still has a long way to go making things up to his three companions but ‘better’ is a start!

He wraps an arm around Hana’s shoulders, pulling her close to his side, and gives her a little squeeze as if to say ‘Do you see that? After all these weeks of whining, things are looking up!’ He doesn’t see the way Hana grimaces at his touch but he does notice y/n averting her gaze.

“And they’ll only get better from here!” he promises, hoping she’ll look at him again and, maybe if he’s lucky, she’ll smile and everything will be okay again. y/n does look at him but she isn’t smiling.

“Like I said,” she says with a shrug and a concerned glance at Hana, “we’ll see.”

Bogum holds out his hand to Tae and they shake heartily. Always the gentleman, he says, “It was nice to meet you under better circumstances, bro. Thank you for all the stories too! I’ll have lots to tease y/n with after this!”

y/n jabs him in the ribs with her elbow. He laughs, wrapping his arm around her, and assures her that he’s only joking.

“You better be!”

“Well,” Hana cuts in, “We probably better get going! Dinner was great! We’ll see you around! Are you ready, Tae?”

Tae’s eyes go wide and his comically confused expression paints wrinkles across his face. y/n hides a chuckle behind her hand before holding out her arms to Hana. “It was so good to see you, Hana! Maybe we can hang out without all these boys next time!”

Hana grins and she seems the most sincere she’s been all evening as she embraces y/n and whispers, “You have no idea how much I would love that!”

“I’ll text you,” y/n promises.

“You guys are so weird,” Hyejin says to the boys as she wipes down the tables. “I’m not going to do that.”

“Oh come on, please?” Taehyung says, pouting at her and holding his hands in front of his chest.

“Why me? Why can’t you ask anyone else?” Hyejin says, walking away from the table to put the dirty rags away.

“Because you’re the only girl we talk to,” Jimin says. “That kind of sounds sad,” he then says, turning to his friends.

“And because you owe me,” Jin says, pointing at her. She looks at him with a shocked expression.

“Owe you for what?” She asks, pulling out the chair in front of him and sitting down across.

“You have stressed me out everyday since you got here,” Jin says, pointing out the bags under his eyes. “Do you know how many times I had to come to work on my days off just to help you? It took away time I had for extra study sessions and I had to pull all-nighters because I had to be here for you.” Hyejin smiles sheepishly at him.

“Oops.” She says.

“So… are you in?” Taehyung asks slowly.

“Fine,” she says, rolling her eyes at him. “Will it take a lot of time though?” Hobi shakes his head.

“Honestly, I think you would just have to be there to say you are his girlfriend for proof. And for like, permission for us to use your name, saying you’re Jungkook’s girlfriend so that if Yn looks for you, we have a real person to bring out.”

“Easy enough then,” she says. Taehyung cheered, clapping his hands, excited for this to go on. “So where’s this boyfriend of mine?” Jimin’s eyes lit up.

“Oh we should really tell Jungkook about this huh,” he laughs, pulling his phone out of his pocket.

“Yeah, call him over,” Jin says.

“Okay guys, but if you’re going to stay here, you have to buy something,” Hyejin says. “I can’t just let you guys take up space where paying customers can be eating at.”

“Oh true,” Hobi says, “Uhh, can we have some menus please? Five since Jungkook’s coming.”

“You want me to fake date your coworker?” Jungkook says in disbelief as he flips through the menu. “Hyung. Isn’t that too much?”

“We won’t keep it up for long, just enough for Yn to confess her feelings for you,” Jimin says. The boys all turned to him and he immediately felt his whole face heat up as he just told Jungkook the truth.

Even Hyejin was in shock.

“She actually likes him?” She mouths behind Jungkook. Jin pulls his finger up to his lips to tell her to keep quiet.

“I don’t know what to get,” Jungkook says, turning to Hyejin. “Is it okay if I just get like a side of dumplings?”

“Yeah, no problem,” she says, taking the menu from him and walking away. Her eyes grow wide when she turns her back to him.

“Anyways,” Jungkook continues, completely oblivious to what Jimin had just said. “Isn’t it when you fake date with someone you end up actually liking them? Like in ‘Her Private Life’, ‘Business Proposal’, even in ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’. They all started fake dating and ended up with each other in the end.”

“Then it’ll be a win win,” Hobi jokes. “Either you make Yn jealous and she confesses her love for you, or you end up with Hyejin.”

“Maybe it would help me get over her…” Jungkook says.

“That’s the spirit!” Taehyung yells.

“We still better be friends by the end of this,” Jungkook says, glaring at his hyungs. They all nod.

“Trust me,” Hobi says. “We know exactly what we’re doing. By the end of this story, you and Yn will be together.”

“How are you all so confident in this? I feel like you know something I don’t.”

Jin clears his throat, pointing behind the younger one.

“Hey, your girlfriend has your dumplings now,” he points out. Jungkook turns around.

“Thank you,” he says. Hyejin winks at him.

“No problem babe.”

Jungkook’s face immediately turns bright red and the boys couldn’t help but laugh.

“Oh my gosh, she’s perfect,” Taehyung says. Jungkook starts to laugh along, covering his face with his hands.

“Ah, I can’t with you guys,” he says, popping a dumpling into his mouth. Hobi then reaches for his phone to check the time as it was getting late.

“Oh hey, Yn called me,” he says. Taehyung pulls his phone out to see a missed call from you too.

“Oh– she called me too.”

“Did something happen?” Jin says, checking his phone as well. Jimin shows his phone to everyone, showing that he got a missed call from you too.

“She called me too,” Jin says. Jungkook then reaches his phone to text you when he sees a text from you instead.

“Oh she’s texting me,” he says.

“What happened?” the boys ask. “Is everything okay?” Jungkook nods.

“She said there’s something on her mind that she wants to talk to me about. She wants to hangout tomorrow,” he explains.

“Tell her no, you have a date,” Taehyung says. Jungkook looks up.

“Uhh.. okay,” he says. “Do– do I just say exactly that?” Taehyung sighs.

“Here, let me do it,” he says, reaching for Jungkook’s phone. Jungkook hands it to him and Taehyung goes on and tells you everything.

“So?” Jungkook asks.

“She’s happy for you and she wants to know how it goes,” Taehyung says, handing Jungkook back the phone.

“That’s it? So what now?” Jungkook asks, looking down at the conversation you just had with Taehyung. Taehyung shrugs.

“You go on a date,” he answers.

Jungkook looks at Hyejin.

“Do I actually have to ask her out?” Jin shakes his head.

“No you don’t actually have to go on a date, Yn won’t know if you do or don’t. You just have to tell her that you did. Just make something up.”

“I won’t mind actually going out, I’m free tomorrow,” Hyejin says, overhearing their conversation. “We can go get coffee at the Magic Shop.”

“Oh okay,” Jungkook says, looking up at her. “Sounds good then.”

“Operation La Push Baby is officially starting,” Taehyung says, clapping his hand.

“Here, take my number,” Hyejin says, writing on his receipt.

“I’ll make a group chat too,” Taehyung says, peeking over Jungkook’s shoulder to get her number.
