You and Jungkook walked side by side in silence. He has his hands in his pocket, pouting, as he was thinking of what to say to you. You, on the other hand, twiddled with your fingers, staring at the ground as you two walked.

You have never felt this awkward with each other before.

Jungkook clears his throat, breaking the silence. He looks at you from the side.

“So,” he starts off. “Yoongi.” He turns his head to look at you. “He told me everything.” You slowly nod, turning to him.

“Hyejin told me too,” you say.

“Should… we talk about it?” Jungkook says slowly. You turn to look in front of you again. You sigh.

“Can we sit down somewhere first?”

You two found yourself sitting on a bench by the Han River.

“So the guys had this idea, the fake dating thing,” Jungkook explains to you, looking out onto the river. “Because they thought it would make you jealous or something and confess that you actually like me,” he laughs as he says this last part, turning to you. “I wasn’t so sure of doing it, but Hyejin and I became friends because of it and decided to trick the guys that their plan backfired. We didn’t think you’d actually think we liked each other. I really do just like you.”

You smile at this, taking your phone out from your back pocket.

“There’s a reason why the boys were so persistent about it,” you say, taking off your phone case and pulling out the paper you kept inside. You hand it to him.

Nervously.

You avoid eye contact as you put your case back on and he unfolds the piece of paper.

“I saw this the other week when we switched phones by accident,” he says to your surprise. “I was telling the guys that you used to keep stuff in there all the time when we were younger and I found this in there. I was wondering who you wrote it fo–”

“It was for you,” you interrupt. “I wrote that back in high school. I was going to give it to you during lunch but Arin and Soobin were going through a breakup and then all our friends started breaking up after. I knew you felt the same way and I didn’t want us to end up like them once we were actually together. So I just kept it a secret.” You quickly confessed.

Jungkook stared at you with his big eyes.

You look up at him when he doesn’t respond.

“Jungkook?” you say, waving your hand in front of his face. “Hello?”

He snaps out of it and looks down at the piece of paper. A laugh escapes his lips.

“Are you telling me this whole time, you liked me back?” He says, smiling at you. You swallow. Nodding your head slowly.

“Yn. Why didn’t you just say so?”

“I was scared,” you reply. “All this time I was so sure that if you date your best friend you’ll eventually lose them. My mind was always filled with what ifs and it was always ‘what if we were only destined to be best friends and not a couple?’ We’d break up eventually and then we wouldn’t even be friends anymore.”

“And this is because of our friends from high school?” He asks. You nod again.

“You can’t base your love life over other people’s experiences,” he says. “There’s this one CEO of this company from.. I can’t remember, but I read it somewhere, and he’s been with his wife since high school and now they have four kids together and are happily married for over 10 years. It’s possible. You can be with someone for forever and you can be with someone for a few weeks. It will always be a ‘what if’ if you never take the chance to see what it will really be.”

“I.. I know that now,” you say. “And I'll make sure my what if’s stay as what if’s and not become my reality.” You don’t realize how close you two are to each other on this bench. Looking at each other, face to face. You see Jungkook’s eyes drop down to your lips.

You quickly turn away, looking up at the sky. Jungkook frowns slightly, but turns away to look up too.

The stars were shining brightly, a couple flying through the sky.

“Hey was that another shooting star?” Jungkook says in amazement, pointing up. You smile.

“I think so.” You look up at him. “Did you make a wish?” His eyes were closed. He nods his head before opening his eyes to look at you.

“What was it?” you ask him. He laughs, shaking his head.

“I’m not telling you.”

“Why not?” You ask, shoving his arm. “I want to know.” Although you knew exactly what it was.

“If I say it, it won’t come true,” he says.

“If I tell you mine, it might cancel out,” you say, your eyes looking straight into his eyes before quickly glancing at his lips. He notices this and swallows.

“I- I wished that you’d give me a chance tonight and finally be my gi–”

You stop him with a kiss.

This was your first kiss actually.

Everyone has always said that first kisses were awkward but it was kinda nice.

Jungkook was surprised at first but quickly melted into the kiss, lifting his hands up to pull your face closer.

Finally, after years and years of dreaming about this moment.

His wish came true.

It was finally the day. The day before winter break starts. Or the day it starts?

It’s your calculus exam day and basically, when you finish, break will officially start then.

You have been prepping all week for this with Jimin. He has been doing all that he can to make sure you do well with this exam. At first he gave you some practice problems to work with, but he thought it was too easy. He ended up being with you every. single. day. reviewing and working on new things.

“It’s better to know more than not enough, you know?” He would tell you.

Needless to say, you’re very thankful for him. You were more than ready to take your final.

And you weren’t surprised when you turned over the exam paper like everyone else was in class.

As you were finishing up the last question, you felt relieved. It wasn’t as bad as you thought, and it may just be because Jimin prepared you so well for it. But of course, you do have a little, teeny, bit of doubt sitting at the bottom of your chest.

Usually, whenever you’re overly confident about something, it ends up being the exact opposite of what you hoped for. So you were just not going to expect too much.

You know.

Just in case.

You were the first one to stand up to turn in your exam. Your professor looked up at you and smiled as you got closer.

She thanked you for turning in your paper and wished you a great winter break. You bow to her before leaving the room.

Right when you open the door out into the hallway, you’re greeted with not one, but five smiley boys.

You quickly bring up your pointer finger to your lips, shushing them before they can let a single peep out.

“You’re done! I’m so proud of you!” Jungkook whispers, raising his arms to give you a hug. You giggle, about to run into his arms when Jimin pushed him towards the wall to hug you instead.

“How did you think you did? Was it okay? It wasn’t too bad, right?” He says, bringing his head back to look at you. Jungkook clicks his tongue, pushing the shorter one to the opposite side of where he was pushed from.

“Stop hogging my girlfriend,” Jungkook says, pulling you by the arm, making you land into his chest. “I’m sure she got the highest grade in class,” Jungkook says to the boys. “It’s my Yn after all.” He places a kiss on your forehead, then a couple on your cheek, making you giggle.

“Uh, guys,” Taehyung and Hobi said. Jin brings his hand to his lips.

“What,” you say, turning your head to the boys.

“Let’s go,” Hobi says, pushing you two aside. “Your professor is glaring at us through the little window.” The six of you then scattered down the hallway, feeling like you were in high school again.

You sat in between your boyfriend and Gaeun at Pied Piper. Everyone of your friends were here, and a few new ones as well. You looked around you, Jin sat across from Gaeun, right in between Yoongi and his best friend Namjoon. Taehyung sat between Gaeun and Hobi with Jimin right across from the two, sitting next to Yoongi. Oh and Hyejin was there too, unfortunately, she was working. She frowns everytime one of the boys calls her over for a refill.

It’s been a really long time since you sat down and ate in a big friend group like this. Of course, the last time being in high school.

You had more faith in this group though.

You look around at everyone, laughing and talking to one another. Gaeun is finally talking to Taehyung. Jimin glares at the both of them from across. Meanwhile, Yoongi was following Hyejin around with his eyes.

His face turns red when he catches you staring at him.

“Hey,” you whisper to Jungkook, nudging his arm. Yoongi was now avoiding your eyes.

“Hm?” Jungkook says, he lifts up a spoon full of fried rice and shoves it into your mouth.

“Mm! Oh my gosh,” you say, putting your hand in front of your mouth.

“It’s good, no?” He says, taking in a spoonful as well. You shake your head.

“That was not the reason I was nudging you.”

“What then?” He asks, turning to you.

You nod your head over to Yoongi. “I think he likes Hyejin,” you whisper to him. “But don’t tell him I said that.” Jungkook looks over at Yoongi, and then Hyejin, and then back to Yoongi. He nods.

“Yeah, I see it.” He says.

You look over at Gaeun and Taehyung now.

“And I think these two are going to hit it off also,” you whisper. Jungkook laughs at you.

“Why are you suddenly observing everyone’s potential love life,” he says.

“Hey they all involved themselves in our relationship,” you rebutted. “It’s fine.”

“Do you have anything you’d like to share with the class,” Hobi says, leaning back to look at you. You laugh, shaking your head.

“Okay, so let's talk about our trip,” Jimin says. “We’re all done with finals, let’s all just go home and pack now.” Jimin turns around and calls Hyejin over. She rolls her eyes as she walks to the table.

“Don’t invite her, I don’t need her attitude with us on vacation,” Jin says, taking a sip of his drink.

“What do you guys want now,” Hyejin says, standing before the group. Jin motions to her.

“See.”

“Stop being mean to her,” you say. The boys have been calling her over for, not only refills, but teasing her and saying nevermind every time she gets to the table.

“We just want to know if you really won’t be able to come with us on our road trip,” Jimin says.

“You guys are going to be camping the whole week though right?” Hyejin says, you all nod. “Okay, yeah I won’t be able to. My friends and I are going to Jeju in a few days.” You pout.

“What about you?” Taehyung says, turning to Gaeun. Her eyes grow big.

“Me?” She says. Taehyung nods and she laughs sheepishly. “I don’t know guys, it’s a bit last minute.”

“I told you about it a while ago,” you tell her.

“Okay, yeah, but I didn’t know I was invited.”

“Well you are. Just come with us,” Taehyung says. “Please.”

“It’s going to be fun,” Hobi says. “And Yn will be there to keep you company.”

“Well we’ll all keep you company,” Jin butts in. “But if you’re really not comfortable joining us, that’s okay.”

“Yeah, no pressure,” you tell her. “We wouldn’t want to push you to do something you’re not comfortable with.”

“Thank you,” Gaeun says. “But yeah, maybe next time? I can maybe plan something for all of us to do too when you guys are back. So all of us can be there.” She says turning to Hyejin.

“I’d like that,” Hyejin says, nodding and smiling at her.

Taehyung pouts, turning to his food.

“Ignore Taehyung,” Jimin says. “He’ll get over it.”

“But you guys will be able to go, right?” Jungkook speaks up, looking at Namjoon and Yoongi. Namjoon nods.

“We’ll be there,” he says. “Thanks again for inviting me.”

“Of course, we’re all friends here,” Jin says. “Expect to be invited to everything.”

“So are we leaving today?” Yoongi asks, looking around. “Because I haven’t packed anything.”

“Yeah I haven’t either,” Hobi laughs. “But yeah, after this, we can all go our separate ways and pack for the trip. Then we can meet at Jin hyungs?”

Jin nods, taking his phone out. “I’ll send my address in the group chat.”

“Oh yeah,” Taehyung says, turning to Hyejin. “Can we have the check?” He asks her. She fakes a smile at him, rolling her eyes again as she walks to get their check.

“This was all so good,” Jimin says, leaning back and looking at all of the empty plates. “Thanks hyung,” he says, turning to Jin. Everyone thanks Jin as well and Jin nods, taking his wallet out.

“Don’t expect this to happen all the time.”

After Pied Piper, you all separated ways so you can pack your things and get ready for your little trip.

You sigh, looking at your closet, not knowing what to pack. It’ll be really cold right? What if it rains? Should you bring your laptop so you can watch movies when you’re bored? Wait, there won’t be any wifi… Maybe a few books would be good. You groan, throwing yourself onto your bed. You’ve actually never been camping before.

“Wait, should I have bought a tent?” you say out loud to yourself, sitting up on your elbows. Suddenly, your phone starts to ring. You reach for it, stretching your arm as far as you can to get it.

It’s Jungkook calling to facetime you.

“Hey,” you say, setting your phone up against your pillow.

“Why do you look so sad,” Jungkook says. He’s walking around his dorm, picking things up off of the floor and throwing it onto his bed.

“I’m not, I just don’t know what to bring. I’ve been so busy preparing for my final, I forgot to buy things,” you say.

“Just pack some comfy clothes. Hoodies, coats, sweatshirts, pajamas, socks. Double the amount of underwear, because you never know,” he says.

You nod, getting up and grabbing the stuff he mentioned. You throw an empty backpack on your bed, filling it up with clothes.

“What stuff did you forget to buy?” He asks you, propping up his phone on his desk.

“A whole tent,” you pout, he laughs at you. “What? I did. I don’t even have a sleeping bag. I’m just going to sleep outside in the cold…”

“I bought us sleeping bags,” he says.

“You did? When?”

“When you were locked up in your dorm studying with Jimin. I knew you didn’t have time to go shopping so I just bought everything we needed,” he says. He walks off and grabs the two sleeping bags, showing them to you.

“Thank you,” you said. “But the tent–”

“I got one too. You can stay with me, it’s big enough,” he says. You felt your face heating up and you put your hands on your cheeks to hide it. He notices and laughs. “What? You act like we haven’t had a sleepover before. We actually have even slept in the same tent together, it’s not going to be the first time.”

“I know but we’re boyfriend and girlfriend now,” you say, then you tilt your head. “Wait, when did we have a sleepover in a tent?”

“High school, first day of summer. We slept in a tent in your backyard.”

“Oh yeah,” you said. “I remember waking up and you were staring straight at me. And so I screamed and slapped your face.” He gave you a tight lipped smile.

“Yep.”

“I won’t wake up like that anymore I promise,” you say, holding your pinky up.

“Yeah, I’m expecting a kiss first thing,” he says, bringing his pinky up as well.

“Deal.”

After meeting up at Jin’s, you and the boys squished into Jin’s van. Jimin, Taehyung, and Hobi sat in the back. In that order. Then it was Jungkook, you, and Namjoon. And lastly, Yoongi was in the passenger’s seat while Jin drove. The trunk was full to the brim of everyone’s belongings.

“I guess it’s a good thing there’s only eight of us in here,” Jungkook says, looking around at everyone. The car seated eight perfectly. “We might’ve had to tie up Gaeun and Hyejin onto the roof if they were able to come.” Jin laughs at this.

“Maybe not Gaeun, she’s too nice. I wouldn’t do that to her,” Jin says.

“Where did you get this car anyways hyung,” Jimin says. It was his first time seeing it.

“It’s my dad’s, he lent me it.” Jin answers. “Anyways, we’re only five minutes in, no one has forgotten anything right?” All the boys shake their heads. You sat and thought to yourself, turning to your boyfriend who was sitting next to you.

“You brought your tent right?” you asked him. Jin looks up at you and Jungkook from the rearview mirror.

“Are you two sharing the same tent?” Taehyung says from behind you. He has a big smile on his face. Hobi was looking at you two with the same smile as well. You can feel your face turn red.

“Not going to happen,” Jin says, catching everyone’s attention. “I brought an extra tent just in case. You can take that one.”

“Oh, but—” Jungkook starts.

“No buts,” Jin says. “As the oldest here, I feel that it’s my responsibility to make sure no funny business happens on this trip,” he says, making Jimin and Taehyung giggle.

“As the second oldest, I agree,” Yoongi says.

“Everyone knows what happens when a young couple shares one–” Namjoon butts in before you start shaking your head.

“Okay okay I get it,” you blurt out. “I’ll stay in a different tent, please don’t say anything weird about it anymore.” The boys in the backseat start to giggle.

“I didn’t even finish–” Namjoon says before you interrupt again.

“But I know what you were going to say and I would rather not let you finish.”

“Just be tent neighbors, you’ll survive,” Hobi says.

You continue to check your phone, getting even more nervous as the time passes by.

It was finally the day of the double date Jungkook suggested that you two go on a few days back.

You two haven’t been talking lately, since that day actually. The day when he bumped into you at Magic Shop, holding some other guy’s hand.

You think he actually believes that you and Yoongi, the guy you met that day, are actually together.

Which is perfect! Because you want him to think that.

Now that he’s actually with Hyejin at least.

“Hey,” Yoongi calls out. You look up from your phone to see him walking towards you. You two planned to meet in front of the restaurant.

“Hi,” you greet back. He hands you a small bouquet of flowers. Yellow roses to be exact. “Oh is this for me?”

“Yeah, my friend said I should bring you flowers since.. we’re dating and stuff,” he says lacking of enthusiasm.

“Thank.. You?” You say, taking it from him. He didn’t seem like he was so glad to be here. “Seriously though, Yoongi, thank you for actually doing this with me. I promise to make it up to you,” you say. You and Yoongi have actually been talking quite a bit these past few days. But it was more like you telling the story of what happened and him calling you stupid. But that’s besides the point.

“Let’s just get this over with,” he sighs, walking towards the restaurant. “Are they inside already?” He stops a few steps in front of you, turning to wait for your answer. You nod your head. He then reaches out his hand.

“Hold my hand then, so we can look more realistic,” he says. You felt your cheeks heat up, reaching out to grab his hand. He intertwined his fingers with yours.

The two of you finally entered the restaurant, the hostess leading you to the table where Jungkook and Hyejin were waiting.

“Sorry we’re a little late, how long were you two waiting?” You say, sitting across from Jungkook. He smiles at you softly.

“Not that long.” He turns to Yoongi. “Hey man, thanks for coming,” he reaches out to shake his hand.

“Thanks for inviting us,” Yoongi says, shaking Jungkook’s hand. You don’t notice this, but the corner of Jungkook’s lip twitches at the word ‘us’.

“Okay,” the Hostess says in a cheerful voice, breaking the tension between the two boys. “So again, welcome to House of Cards, My name is Rina and I’ll be your hostess for tonight. Here are your menus. I’ll give you four a few minutes and I’ll come back to take your order.”

“Thank you so much,” Hyejin says to the lady before flipping through the menu. “Man, it’s so nice to finally not be that person,” she says. “At least for a day.”

“Oh yeah, how’s it like working at Pied Piper?” You say. You haven’t heard Jin complain that much about her anymore. You wonder if it’s because she’s gotten better or if it’s because she’s gotten busy with your best friend and your other friends don’t want to mention her around you anymore.

“It’s a lot better than my first week, that’s for sure,” Hyejin answers.

“Babe, I’m going to get this, do you want to share?” Jungkook says suddenly, pointing to an item at the menu while looking at Hyejin.

You clench your jaw, not noticing that you were also staring at the side of his face for a few seconds too long.

Yoongi notices and he lifts up his finger to your chin to turn your head towards him. It catches you off guard.

“I’m not sure what to get,” he says, with the softest and cutest smile you’ve ever seen on him. He stares into your eyes as he says this. “Do you know what you’re getting yet?”

“Uhh,” you look down at your menu. “I’m not sure, it’s between these two.” You point to two items. Yoongi smiles at you before closing his menu.

“Well let's get them both then and we can just share. That way you can have both.” He then reaches out to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear. He turned away shyly and you couldn’t help but smile as you noticed how hard he was trying to make it seem like the two of you were a couple. You then look in front of you to see Jungkook staring back at you. He didn’t look too happy.

After the food was served, the four of you began to talk and hold conversations. Just a sprinkle of flirting here and there.

It wasn’t until after you all finished and were waiting for the dessert that everyone started getting closer. But not in that way.

Yoongi was sitting closer to you now, with his arm resting on the back of your chair.

Jungkook would be looking at Hyejin every now and then and just smile at her. He’d even tuck her hair behind her ear, telling her that it’s blocking his view of her beautiful face. After, he’d put his arm around her shoulders.

You smiled at them, it was actually pretty sweet. Even if it did hurt a little.

The three of you were listening to a story Hyejin had about her friends. Well, the boys were. Everything she was saying was going through one ear and out the other. All you could focus on was the little things Jungkook was doing with her.

He used to do that with you, but as friends.

But with Hyejin it was different. Obviously. But they looked really sweet with each other. Every now and then, while she was talking, Hyejin would turn to look at Jungkook, who was only a few inches away from her face, and she’d just smile at him. He’d smile back and you notice he’s looking at her lips when they would do so and you could feel your heart inching down, about to fall into the pit of your stomach.

They were just, so cute together.

Yoongi glances at you from the side of his eyes and notices your sad smile as you watch the love of your life falling for someone else right in front of you.

If only you knew it wasn’t real.

But even if you did know it was all fake, you’d think that this is the moment they both fell for each other.

Yoongi moves and wraps his arm around you, rubbing your arm with his hand. He leans into your ear and whispers.

“Are you okay?”

You turn to look at him, his face just inches away. You smile and nod.

“Yeah.”

“And anyways,” Hyejin says, continuing her story. Jungkook looks at the two of you and he’s no longer upset with the scene in front of him. He really thinks that you two do like each other and maybe the reason why you two can never confess to each other correctly is that it's because it’s never actually the right person, wrong time, but … just the wrong person.

Maybe you’d be happier with someone else, and he’d be too.

You turn to look in front of you and see Jungkook looking at you now. He smiles at you, a soft smile. And you smile back.

It was weird.

Because at this moment, it felt like you and Jungkook mutually just accepted that you two are now with someone else, that’s not each other, and that’s okay.

You suddenly felt your eyes burning and you didn’t want to start crying in front of everyone.

You excuse yourself to go to the restroom.

“Oh I’ll come with,” Hyejin says, mid storytelling, getting up to come with you.

Now it was just Yoongi and Jungkook alone at the table.

“What’s up with girls always having to go to the bathroom with each other?” Jungkook says with a slight laugh, trying to break the ice.

“You’re not really together, aren’t you?” Yoongi blurts out.

“..What?”

“Hyejin, I’m sorry, but I kinda left the table to be alone really quick,” you tell her, reaching out to open the restroom door.

��I know, I know,” she answers, “but I’m getting impatient and I feel like we’re never going to get anywhere if we continue this.” You look at her strangely before pushing the door and going in.

Hyejin sighs, coming in with you.

“Yn I know you don’t like me and Jungkook together,” she says, as you rush into a stall, not wanting to hear what she has to say next. Whatever it might be.

“But we’re not, okay? Please, it’s just a big misunderstanding,” she says loudly for you to hear. When you don’t answer she sighs again.

“He loves you Yn, so so much. For so long. Do you think that kind of feeling just goes away?”

You woke up early this morning to get ready for your day. Jungkook mentioned going on a date today and, knowing him, he will be coming by your dorm early to spend as much time together as possible.

And now that you’re dating, you want to look nice…

You yawned as you walked to your bathroom, grabbing your toothbrush from the counter.

You had a long night as you couldn’t sleep.

It’s a little embarrassing to say, but you couldn’t stop thinking about Jungkook and the kiss.

Ugh.

You were downbad.

You didn’t know what time Jungkook would be here but you quickly got ready. Doing your skin care, fixing your hair, and the longest part was looking for something nice to wear.

You were finally fully ready for the day, sitting at the edge of your bed and waiting for Jungkook’s text.

You didn’t want to seem too eager and message him first.

You don’t know why you’re acting like you and Jungkook didn’t grow up together, but having him as the “boyfriend” title felt different.

In the best way possible.

*ding ding!*

You excitedly grab your phone from your lap, smiling when you see who it’s from.

You laugh as you see his last text.

You knew he was going to do this. You quickly got up and opened the door for him.

“Hi,” he says, leaning in and placing a kiss on your lips. It throws you off guard but you smile and kiss him back anyways. He places his hands on your hips and pulls you closer. You giggle pushing him away, slightly.

“Well good morning to you too,” you say. He smiles down at you and says good morning back.

“You look beautiful,” he says. He leans forward and sniffs. “And your breath doesn’t stink this time.” You roll your eyes, pushing him off and he laughs as you walk away.

“Kidding,” he says, walking towards you. “But you do look really pretty.”

“Thank you,” you say, grabbing your bag from your desk. “So where are we off to?”

“Taehyung suggested we eat breakfast at 24/7 Heaven,” he says, grabbing your hand and intertwining his fingers with yours. “There’s something about people meeting their soulmates there, I don’t know. He read it somewhere online.”

As you two walked out of the building, you looked at Jungkook.

“Wait, people meet their soulmates at the bakery?” you asked. Jungkook laughs at you.

“Were you just thinking about it the whole time?” He says, because you didn’t reply after he told you about it and you two walked in comfortable silence until you got out.

“Yeah,” you giggle. “Sorry I woke up too early, my brain is just–” You shake your head. Jungkook smiles at you, reaching out and petting your head with his other hand.

“Aigoo~ Someone was excited?” he teased. You roll your eyes.

“Whatever,” you say. “Tell me more about the bakery soulmate thing.” Jungkook sighs.

“Ah~ I don’t know. Taehyung read it online or something. Apparently some people met there and ended up falling in love or something, getting married and stuff,” he shrugs. “I think that’s why their motto is “24/7 Heaven, where you find your match made in heaven”? Something about the owner also meeting their husband there, but I don’t know, I don’t think it’s true… I think Taehyung made it up.”

“It sounds cute though,” you say. “But we already met before then, and we ate there a few times already~”

“That’s okay. We can still be soulmates,” he says, leaning in to kiss your cheek.

Jungkook opens the door for you, and you are instantly greeted with the smell of vanilla.

“Good morning, welcome to–” The two of you look at the counter and see Yoongi. He’s shaking his head, smiling at the two of you.

“Glad everything went well during your walk,” he said. You look at him sheepishly, letting go of Jungkook’s hand to go up to him. Jungkook furrows his brow at you, tilting his head as you lean over the counter and whisper something to Yoongi.

“I still have to make it up to you, do you want me to take you to lunch tomorrow or–”

“Hey it’s our first official date and you’re asking your fake ex out during it?” Jungkook says, popping up next to you. His face is right next to yours.

“I promised him I’d make it up to him for dragging him into that whole mess,” you say. You turn back to Yoongi. “Tomorrow, if you’re not working, let’s have lunch. Or dinner, on me.”

Jungkook glares at you.

“Jungkook will be there too of course,” you say, side eyeing him. “And he’ll bring Hyejin too.”

“Oh?” Jungkook says. Yoongi was smiling to himself now.

“Yeah, you guys dragged her into this too,” you say to Jungkook. He nods.

“Okay, I’ll text her then.”

“Okay anyways,” you say, looking back at Yoongi. He suddenly stops smiling, clearing his throat.

“Okay so what can I get you guys for today?” he says.

“Umm,” Jungkook looks at the menu. “What’s “the Hana Special” under the couples menu?” He asks, looking up at Yoongi.

“Oh that’s our most famous breakfast item here at 24/7 Heaven. I’ve never personally met the owner, but they say that she met her future step daughter here on the first day they opened and she quickly became friends with her and her dad, who was a single father. The daughter’s birthday was approaching and one of the things she wanted to do to celebrate was eat breakfast here with her everyday. Eventually her dad and the owner became a couple and got married in the future. The daughter’s name was Hana, hence the breakfast menu being called the Hana Special.”

“Aww I love that,” you say in awe.

“I told you,” Jungkook says. “My friend, Taehyung, told me about it before coming here. He says this is a place where people meet their soulmates? At least that’s what he read somewhere.”

“Yeah, that’s what my boss has been saying at least. I don’t think it’s true, just because I have been working here and I’m still single,” Yoongi says, making you laugh. “So if you see my boss anywhere and she tells you anything, don’t believe her. I’m sure she’s making this all up.”

“What’s her name?” you ask.

“Miya,” he tells you. “But don’t tell her I said any of that.”

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Jungkook says. “But anyways, we’ll get that one. The Hana Special.”

“Alright, one Hana Special, coming right up. Will that be it?”

Flashback to part 17, but Jungkook’s side

Jungkook opens the door for Hyejin, they enter Silver Spoon together. An ice cream shop across from Magic Shop.

“You and Yn really eat ice cream for breakfast?” Hyejin asks Jungkook, wrapping her arms around herself as she was a little cold. Jungkook told her about how you and him prefer ice cream during colder weathers and are firm believers that ice cream is for any time of day. Hyejin thought it was nonsense and Jungkook decided to bring her here to prove her wrong.

“Yup,” he says excitedly, walking up to the front.

“What do you guys usually get?” She asks him, looking at the different choices of ice cream to choose from.

“We usually share a banana split,” Jungkook says. He then turns to her, “but we should get sundaes today. Perfect for a Sunday morning.” Hyejin laughs at him.

“Okay, yeah, I’ll take that.”

The two of them are now seated at a booth by the window. Where you can see the inside of Magic Shop perfectly as the windows are parallel from each other.

“Not gonna lie, this is actually really good,” Hyejin says, putting a spoonful of vanilla ice cream in her mouth. She shivers right after, putting the spoon back into the cup.

Jungkook laughs at her, also noticing ice cream on the top of her lip. Giving her a white stache.

“I told you you’d enjoy it,” he says, reaching over to wipe her top lip with his thumb.

“Oh, thanks,” she says, going for another spoonful. Jungkook couldn’t help but shake his head.

“You know what, I’m going to get you some napkins,” he says, getting up from his seat.

“So you know how yesterday while we had coffee, you said you didn’t want to do the fake date thing for too long,” Hyejin says, wiping her mouth clean as she had already finished her sundae. Jungkook swirls the ice cream in his cup with his spoon. It was beginning to turn into melted ice cream soup.

“Yeah,” Jungkook says. At first he thought the idea was okay. The boys seemed confident that you would react in a way that would benefit him so he decided to give it a try. In hopes that in the end of it, you’d be his.

But your reaction seemed like you were just… normal. Or if anything just surprised. It didn’t seem like a confession would be happening any time soon or even at all.

With the time Jungkook and Hyejin spent yesterday, it was more of them realizing that they liked similar things and got along well. Jungkook also talked a lot about you during their time together and Hyejin gave him some advice from a girl’s perspective.

They also thought that it would be funny to trick the guys into thinking their plan backfired so that they don’t butt into his potential relationship anymore.

It was pretty easy. First of all, the posts Jungkook and Hyejin were posting kind of made them suspicious because they weren’t expecting them two to be hanging out and actually having a good time.

Jungkook and Hyejin think what sold them was their direct conversation in their group chat and calling their next hangout a ‘date’. After that, they didn’t have to do anything else but hang out.

“Do you think Yn fell for it?” Hyejin asks, making Jungkook look up. “I know she didn’t really react much when Taehyung texted her through your phone but like… with the pictures on Twitter. What did she think of that?”

Jungkook looks to the side and looks back at her whilst shrugging.

“She didn’t say anything. I mean it honestly just looked like we hung out.”

“But Taehyung texted her it was a date, no?” she says. “And my friends also thought I was seeing you so I had to tell them we were just friends.”

“Oh. Well I guess she might think so then.. But don’t worry, I’ll tell her it’s all fake.”

“Yeah, I wouldn’t want her to hate me. I kinda want to be friends with her too,” Hyejin says. “You talk so much about her, I feel like I know her already and she sounds great.”

“She really is,” Jungkook says with a shy smile.

“I really hope it goes well for you two,” she says. “When are you going to tell the boys we’re just messing with them and you don’t want to do the fake date thing?”

Jungkook shrugs again. “Maybe later? I don’t know, whenever I can. I’m not really sure if they really believe us, we barely did anything.”

“Trust me, all boys are either gullible, oblivious, or both,” she says. Hyejin was fully aware that you liked him and saw how many times the boys slipped up about it and he didn’t notice. It took everything in her to not tell him, “SHE LIKES YOU TOO, JUST GO TALK TO HER.”

She doesn’t know you personally, so she doesn’t feel like it’s in her place to confess for you.

After a while of talking, Jungkook eventually finished his ice cream and the two left to visit other places in the area.

They were just leaving a store nearby after an unsuccessful shopping time.

“You know, if you’re lactose intolerant, why would you agree to get ice cream with me,” Jungkook asks Hyejin, a smile on his face as he opens the door for her. Hyejin had a little moment while they were shopping because her stomach decided to fight with her.

She walks ahead of him, saying, “I told you I’m not, my stomach just hates me sometimes when I eat something with dairy.”

“That’s called lactose intolerance.” Jungkook argues.

“I can eat any dairy products, it doesn’t act up everyti– aH!” A gush of wind blew their direction, blowing her hair everywhere. “Something just went in my eye!” She yells, turning around quickly. Jungkook bends down slightly, brushing her hair out of her face by holding them down with both hands on her cheeks. He leans in and blows into her eye, trying to get whatever went in there, out.

“You’re literally putting more bacteria in my eye,” Hyejin replies, her eye twitching.

*HONK*

The two jump, surprised by the loud sound. They turn around and see a car stopped right in front of Magic Shop.

“Is that Taehyung?” Jungkook says.

“I literally cannot see anything,” She says, rubbing her eye. Jungkook turns back to her.

“You wanna go wash it out? You know where the restroom is,” he says, teasing her.

“I’ll survive,” she says, pulling him in the opposite direction. “I don’t think I can step into that store ever again.”

After a minute of silence passes by, Hyejin was about to leave the bathroom when you finally stepped out.

She watched you as you quietly made your way to the sink, washing your hands and avoiding eye contact.

“Even if it isn’t true, I saw the way he looked at you,” you say quietly. “Things changed and I’m sure he does like you.” You grab some paper towels to wipe your hands, quickly pushing the door of the bathroom open right after.

“Wait,” Hyejin says, grabbing your wrist before you speed off to the table. You look at her with a soft smile.

“I hope this doesn’t get weird between us, I think we can be really good friends,” you tell her. “I might just need a bit of time to adjust.”

Hyejin sighs, frustrated. “Yn can you just, please, listen to me for just a second?”

You look at her and nod. “I’m sorry, I’m just–”

“Jungkook loves you, not me. Everything the boys did was stupid. Not everything is like the dramas they watch, it’s different in the real world. They meant well, for sure, they just really wanted you two to end up together because you two were just made for each other. You two share the same feelings. They just wanted to push you two together in a way where it came together because you two made it happen. That’s why they never told Jungkook that you liked him back.” She says. “Even if it was so obvious! But you two couldn’t see it for some reason so they wanted to help.”

“Then why are you doing this? Acting like you’re a couple and doing it so well.”

“At first we did it to trick the boys, not you. We never acted like we were together in front of you. We never said online that we were together. We were simply friends, hanging out.” She says, but you think back to the time where you saw them hanging out. The ice cream date, the kiss. “Jungkook was going to explain to you everything after he found out that you thought that we were actually together. But you said you were with someone else and it upset him. He didn’t want you to think he was pathetic for pretending to be with someone when you truly were with someone else.”

“What about the kiss?” You ask.

“What kiss?”

“You and Jungkook kissed.”

Hyejin makes a face.

“wHat? We’ve never kissed!”

“I saw you!”

“Well it was probably someone else because I have never kissed Jungkook,” she says, sternly. “I don’t like him like that. Why would I do that when I know he likes you?”

“I’m so confused,” you said, dropping your face into your hands. Hyejin grabs your wrists with both hands, pulling them down.

“Me and Jungkook are not together. We never were, we never will, and we never kissed. He loves you and only you. Everything that has happened with any of your friends that involve him, were all a plot for you to finally confess to him that you feel the same way back.”

It was a little too much for you to take in, suddenly, you felt so embarrassed that you had dragged a complete stranger into this mess. You left Hyejin without another word.

“Wait,” Jungkook says to Yoongi. “Are you saying… you and Yn are also faking it?” Yoongi nods. Jungkook sighs out of disbelief.

“I wouldn’t have ratted her out like this, but given the situation and information she’s given me. I feel like you deserve to know,” Yoongi tells him. “And plus, it’s so obvious you two like each other. You’re just making complete fools out of yourselves.”

“Are you sure she likes me? Because why would she reject me if she liked me?”

“She’s an idiot.”

Jungkook laughs.

“Hey, only I can call her that.”

Meanwhile, you rush to the table, apologizing.

“Hey, I’m so sorry for taking so long,” you say, mostly to Yoongi. He pulls the chair open for you.

“No worries, Jungkook and I were just talking.”

“Okay, well, umm,” you struggled to find the words. “I actually was just gonna say that I’m going to head out, I’m not feeling too well.” You say, trying to find an excuse to leave. Just because you felt like you weren’t in the right head space to continue the dinner. You did kind of feel sick. You felt stupid. You were embarrassed by the whole situation you made. You kind of just wanted to go on a walk and think.

But at the same time, you didn’t want to think about anything.

The thought of the whole situation made you cringe.

Did you really just go out of your way to fake date a stranger to make your best friend/crush think that you weren’t some loser who rejected him because of your high school fear of losing him?

Make it make sense.

Literally, who does that.

“Oh, I’ll take you home then,” Yoongi says, getting up. Jungkook gets up too, Hyejin finally walks up to the table.

“What’s going on?” She asks.

“Yn’s not feeling well, so I’m going to take her home,” Yoongi says. You shake your head.

“No, it’s okay, I can just walk, it’s not too far from here. I think I just need some fresh air.”

“It’s late, and it’s cold out, you’re going to get even more sick,” Jungkook says. You shake your head at him.

“I’ll be okay.” You glance over at Hyejin and she gives you a knowing look.

“Let’s pay first and we’ll figure out the ride situation after,” Yoongi says.

“Yn, seriously, let me take you home,” Yoongi says, standing beside his car.

“I’ll be fine, really. Get home safe,” you say, leaning in to give him a friendly hug. You whisper in his ear. “Thank you for doing this for me, I’ll make it up, I swear.”

He nods as you pull away. He quickly glances at Jungkook.

“Hey, Yoongi, do you think you can give me a ride back to the dorms?” Hyejin asks, smiling sheepishly.

“Of course,” he says, he then looks at Jungkook. “What about you?” Yoongi nods his head slightly towards you. You didn’t notice it.

“I’ll walk with Yn and make sure she gets home safe.” Jungkook responds. You look at him surprised. Yoongi nods knowingly. Hyejin is smirking behind him.

“Okay, well I’ll see you guys then,” Yoongi says. He opens the door for Hyejin, making sure she gets in before he hops into the driver’s seat.

“I actually wanted to go walk by myself,” you told Jungkook when the other two left.

“Well we haven’t been talking or hanging out alone, figured this would be the right time to catch up,” he says, already walking off. You walk beside him.

“Do you think tonight will finally be the night?” Hyejin asks Yoongi. He shrugs.

“I hope so. I don’t think I can go another round of fake dating,” he says, making Hyejin laugh.

“Oh my gosh, I know. I never thought I’d find myself in this situation.” Yoongi smiles as he’s looking down the road, reaching over to turn the volume up.

His phone was plugged in, his favorite song playing from one of his playlists.

“Oh my gosh, this is my favorite song!” Hyejin yells in surprise. Yoongi was shocked as no one he knew actually knew that song as it was an older song. So having it as a favorite blew him away.

“Really?” He says, turning to look at her. She nods at him, smiling widely.

He reaches over to turn it up even more but Hyejin was thinking the same thing.

Their fingers touch and it makes Hyejin giggle, making Yoongi’s cheeks a bright shade of red.

“Oops, sorry,” she says, putting her hand down. Yoongi shakes his head, smiling with his gummy smile.

“It’s okay,” he says quietly, turning up the song a bit higher.

Hyejin looks out the window, humming the lyrics to Can't Take My Eyes off You.

You fiddle with the piece of paper in your hand as you give yourself a pep talk.

“He likes you, this will go well. He’s your best friend, nothing will ruin your friendship. You’ll be okay. You might even live happily ever after, who knows? A relationship with your best friend is the best kind of relationship.”

If someone were to walk into your room right now, they might think you’re crazy. Staring at the wall and talking to yourself.

You look down at the piece of paper in your hand and sigh.

“I missed out once, I can’t do that again,” you say in a much quieter voice.

~flashback~

You finally got the courage to tell your best friend you like him. It was almost lunch time and you were meeting Jungkook in the cafeteria along with your other friends.

You tore a piece of paper from your notebook and began to write the words ‘i like you’ on them. Just those three words, sweet and simple. You drew on some hearts around it to make it cuter.

Everyone else in your friend group was in a relationship with one another. It was just you and Jungkook left as the single ones.

Not that that’s the reason you like him.

Jungkook’s just… everything you like in a person.

He was sweet, funny, and he always showed you how much he cared for you without having to say anything.

For all you knew, he felt the same way back.

You know way too well that you two are still very young, considering you were only in high school and had so much ahead of you and many more people to meet.

But…

He just felt like the one.

Is that too cheesy?

You bite your lip, folding up the piece of paper and putting it in your pocket when your teacher dismisses you all.

This class you were just leaving from was the only class you didn’t share with Jungkook and your other friends.

You quickly walked to the cafeteria to meet with them at your usual lunch spot.

You make eye contact with Jungkook, who wasn’t looking too happy.

Your heart started beating faster as you took the paper out of your pocket, fiddling with it with your fingers.

As you walked to the table, you were shoved in the shoulder by a girl that was hurriedly walking the opposite direction.

“Sor–” The girl began to say. It was your best friend, Arin. “Yn.” She let out. Her eyes were shiny and her cheeks were red.

“Hey,” you say. You quickly hide the note back into your pocket. “What’s wrong? Is everything okay?” You look behind her and see her boyfriend, your other friend, Soobin, talking to Jungkook. They didn’t look too happy. Soobin was rolling his eyes and scoffing while Jungkook’s eyes were going back and forth from you to his friend. You shrug at him.

“I broke up with Soobin,” Arin says, sniffling and quickly wiping the tear that rolled down her face. Your eyes widened.

“What? Why?” you ask. She shakes her head.

“I found out he likes someone else,” she says. “He’s been talking to the new girl, Byul. The one that just transferred in. Apparently he was going to break up with me soon, Beomgyu saw him holding her hand and telling her that in the library the other night.”

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry,” you pull her into a hug. “Are you going to be okay?”

“Yeah, eventually I’m sure,” she sniffles again. “But I don’t think I can hang out with the group anymore. Not as long as he’s there,” she says, turning to look at the two boys.

“I understand. Do you want to go eat somewhere else then?” You say. She nods her head, and you look behind her and you and Jungkook mentally tell each other that you’d stay with your friends for the time being.

After this day, each of them began to fall out of love and ending, not only their relationships, but your friendship as well. Your friend group, which began when you all stepped into the same class on the first day of high school, kept shrinking and shrinking. Up until it was just you and Jungkook left alone at the lunch table.

It hurt to see your old friends walk around as if they were strangers.

Passing by each other like you didn’t spend every waking moment by each other’s side.

The first day at the lunch table with just you and Jungkook was the day you promised yourself that you were never giving him that note, knowing that one day it will end and Jungkook is the one person you never want to lose.

As you reminisce about the old times and what has led you to this very moment. You hesitate a bit to do it.

You call Hobi first to talk it through with.

Voicemail.

You call Taehyung next.

Voicemail again.

Knowing how all the boys know anyways, you call Jin next.

Voicemail.

Jimin.

Voicemail.

You groan.

“The time you need them the most,” you sigh, going to your text messages and clicking Jungkook’s name before you change your mind for the nth time.

“Wait, say it again,” Hyejin says, looking at Jungkook with furrowed brows. The two were standing in front of the library building. Jungkook sighs, his arms crossed over his chest.

“I didn’t get to tell my hyungs that we were messing with them, and I didn’t get to talk to Yn about it either,” he says. “When I came over, I mentioned your name and they told me to save it for another time. Yn wasn’t in a good mood that day either so I decided I just let her know the next day. And then when I asked to join her in watching a movie and she mentioned me having a girlfriend I figured she also believed that fake dating bit we did. But then you said that Jin said that Taehyung told Yn that we were just fake dating.” He explains to her one more time. “If Taehyung told Yn it was all fake, then why does she think you’re my girlfriend?”

Hyejin brings her hand up to her mouth.

“What?” Jungkook says.

“What if they think we actually fell for each other?” Jungkook gasps.

“Oh no,” he says, covering his mouth as well.

“We really need to talk this whole thing out,” Hyejin says, beginning to rub her temples.

“Yeah, I’ll start with Yn first though,” Jungkook says, taking out his phone.

“Okay you go do that, I’m going to get coffee,” Hyejin says, beginning to walk away. “Let me know how it goes.”

“Wait!” Jungkook says, running beside her. “I’ll come with. Magic Shop right? I’ll get Yn her order.”

You sat on a stool by the counter at Magic Shop once again, talking to Gaeun.

“He hasn’t talked to you about his relationship yet?” Gaeun asks you. You shake your head no.

“I kinda don’t want him to? I don’t know how to feel about it yet,” you tell her. “It’s like, I need time to process that he’s with someone else, but at the same time, he doesn’t know I like him back! So he might think I’m weird– should I just lie and pretend I’m okay with it?” She shakes her head no at you.

“Yn, I think you should just tell him the truth,” she tells you in a calm voice. You sigh.

“I think so too… but like… what if he ends up leaving Hyejin because I finally reciprocated his feelings? That’s so unfair to her.”

“So what are you going to do?” She asks you. You shrug.

“Get over it?”

“How.”

“I don’t know? Like someone else?” You say, waving your hands. She laughs at you.

“Yeah? How long will that take?”

“Gaeunnnn,” you whine. “I don’t know what to do.”

“Just do something,” she says. “Anything. See where it takes you.”

“What?”

“You need to start somewhere, you can’t just wallow up into your sadness. You know there’s other things you can do to get over it. Like focusing more on yourself? Not everything has to be about being in love with someone else.”

“You’re so right but it’s so hard when I actually do love him and he’s with someone else and I’m slowly losing my best friend and then he’ll just watch me be all lonely and pathetic,” you say in one breath. “I should’ve gave him the note, I should’ve told him I felt the same when he confessed to me.” You drop your head down onto the counter making a loud thud. Gaeun’s eyes widen, reaching out to hold your head up.

“Please don’t do that.”

“Gaeun can you please give me a shot?”

“Of espresso?”

You nod.

“Caffeine makes me hyper and I feel so ~eh~ right now.”

Gaeun shakes her head, slowly pulling her hands away from your head. At this moment she was glad that she worked at a coffee shop and not a bar.

“Here,” Gaeun says, handing you a tiny cup. You thank her and take it. She giggles when you make a face from the bitterness of it.

“I feel better already,” you say, rubbing your hands on your jeans.

“Good,” Gaeun says, looking up at the transparent door of the shop. “Because Jungkook and Hyejin are coming in.”

Your eyes widen, turning around quickly to see that she was right.

“No no no, I don’t want to see him right now!” You say, panicking. “How do I look?” you ask.

“Crazy,” Gaeun answered, slipping away from you to go behind the register.

“Well don’t leave me!” You whisper shout, “I don’t want to look like a loner!” Quickly, you turn to look back and see that Jungkook stopped in front of the shop, looking at his phone before going in.

“What are you doing?” Gaeun whisper shouts back at you.

“Hi!” You say to two guys sitting at a table by the counter. “I’m so sorry, but can I join you guys real quick?” One of the two guys smiles at you sweetly, a cute dimple appearing on his cheek.

“Of course,” he tells you, looking back down at his phone right after.

“Thank you so mu–”

“There are other seats though?” The other guy says, lifting one eyebrow at you.

“Ah..” You laugh slightly, “I know.. But–”

“Welcome!” Gaeun says as Jungkook and Hyejin walk in.

“I’m so sorry again, but just play along,” you whisper to the guy staring at you. You pretend to not see Jungkook and you look the opposite direction when he turns your way.

“Yn,” he calls. You turn to him and smile.

“Oh, hi Jungkook,” you say as normal, and as casual, as you possibly can right now. “What are you doing here?”

“I was just getting coffee with Hyejin,” he says. Your heart squeezes at her name. Hyejin turns around when she was mentioned and smiled widely at you, walking away from the counter to greet you instead.

“Yn! Oh my gosh, it’s so nice to finally meet you,” she says. You smile at her with clenched teeth.

“You too.”

The two guys seemed to notice what was going on and felt a little awkward.

“I heard you two are a couple now,” you say. “Congratulations.”

“Oh, we ar–”

“I’m actually seeing someone now too,” you say all of a sudden. You don’t know where that came from. Why did you say that?

Your eyes widen slightly and you glance behind them to see Gaeun shocked, almost dropping the cup she was holding.

“You are?” Jungkook asks, surprised. You freeze for a few seconds before slowly nodding.

“Who?” Jungkook asks you.

You reach out and grab the dimple guy’s wrist. His eyes shoots up and he shows you his phone where he’s texting someone with the contact name ‘my love<3’

Jungkook furrows his brows at the guy and you gasp a little.

“Oops,” you let out a small laugh, dragging your hand across the small table to grab the grumpy guy’s hand.

“Him,” you say. The dimple guy bites his lip in an attempt to hide his laugh. The other guy looks at you with an unimpressed face, his mouth slightly open.

“How’d you even meet?” Jungkook asks you, staring at your hand that’s holding his.

“Uhm…” you say, trying to think of what to say next. You look at the guy whose hand you're holding and he rests his head on his hand, looking at you and waiting for what you have to say.

“Here! Actually,” you say with a small laugh. “We met here when we had the same.. Uh.. order and we went up to grab it at the same time and yeah.. Now we’re here.” Gaeun shakes her head from behind.

“Oh, okay,” Jungkook says. He looks at the guy who’s looking at him with a smug smile. “I’ll see you around then.” He says, walking out of the shop quickly. Hyejin looks back and forth between Jungkook and you before running after Jungkook.

You let out a sigh of relief when the door closes behind them.

“You don’t even know my name,” the guy said. You forget that you’re holding his hand and your whole face turns red.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry,” you say, letting go. “I don’t even know why I did that! Oh my g– what did I do?” You look at the two boys.

“It’s okay, I get it,” the grumpy one says. “You obviously like him but he has someone else now. And you didn’t want him to see you all alone, talking to the barista. Like a loser.”

“Hey! She’s my friend!” Gaeun nods in agreement. The guy shakes his head.

“You seem like you’re in quite the situation,” the dimple boy says. He puts his phone away. “I’m Namjoon by the way. I’m pretty sure we have a class together.” The other guy nods.

“Oh yeah, no wonder you looked familiar.” He says.

You turn your head to the side.

*ding ding!*

You just received a few text messages.

It’s from Hyejin and Jungkook.
