I'll do subscorp in another ask so here's mk!

001 | Send me a fandom and I will tell you my:

• Favorite character: I sure wonder 💙❄️💙

• Least Favorite character: honestly I dont really have a least favorite character as much as I mourn their wasted potential, so to that list you can add like... all the new additions to the playable roster of mk11. and also Kotal Kahn. on paper? his concept is pretty interesting. In execution? Boring and I dont like him.

• 5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): subscorp because I have eyes that can see, sareehan, uuuuuuh kenshi/ermac cause I find it funny and uuuuuuuuuh idk. cageblade liutana and taneela. idk im a boring bitch when it comes to ships

• Character I find most attractive: I SURE WONDER 💙❄️💙 but ngl scorpion and kitana have it going on too

• Character I would marry: none idc

• Character I would be best friends with: I guess I could vibe with takeda? but other than that idk and idc I dont ask myself these kind of questions

• a random thought: literally the only medium on which I feel the mk storytelling can reach its full potential is in a downright animated show. Defenders Of The Realms is definitely not the perfect mk show on account on being from the 90s and very clearly aimed at kids, but it has a lot more value a lot of mk fans give it in terms of characterization, and with the success of hyperviolent and gorey shows like Invincible and the likes, WB NEEDS to greenlight a few seasons of a mk show. There is simply too much characters with their own storylines to fit in a single movie in a satisfying way, just look at the legends movies, BUT if the screentime was split in like, 60% Raiden + the shaolin monks against Outworld, 20% Cage + the special forces and 20% Ninja drama for one episode, then 20%-60%-20% the next, then 20%-20%-60% the next, well I think it could work a lot better in terms of pacing, narrative, and character development. Plus the characters of mk are SUPER SIMPLE AND BASIC, aka the best kind of character to add depths to. The games actually kind of already do that in the current timeline, focusing on only one character at a time to progress the game's story, but its held back by the gameplay, ironically, because unless you're a wierdo like me, people dont usually wanna sit thru 20min of cutscenes where the characters do nothing but talk about their feelings, especially in the haha gorefest video game.

• An unpopular opinion: hot take followed by a cold take: d'vorah owns as a character both in her unique design and her role in the story, I wish she could kill more fan-favorite characters. BUT it sucks when said fan-favorite characters could be killed by other characters with a lot more satisfying weight in the narrative and that I can think of them at the top of my head.

• My Canon OTP: lol i wish

• My Non-canon OTP: lmao💙💛

• Most Badass Character: I could be predictable and just say sub zero again but ngl half the cast are like, some of the most badass characters I've seen in a while.

• Most Epic Villain: I am partial to The Shangster, funny evil grandpa, and yknow what add Quan Chi too, but ONLY when hes funny

• Pairing I am not a fan of: lol 90% of what this fandom comes up with, it ranges from "i dont really care but cute!" to "yeah I dont see it" to "I actively despise this".

• Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): mandatory sindel mention, uuuuuuh the whole cast? at some point? Love those characters so much but theres like 11 games, 6 movies and some comics so of course Im gonna be angry with some decisions.

• Favourite Friendship: Jax and Sonya :)

• Character I most identify with: subz when hes looking at the realms merging and hes about to be crushed by the falling ceiling but hes pushed away by scorpion

• Character I wish I could be: scorpion when hes waking up off-screen in subz's arms after getting caught in an explosion of the One Being

Ended up cooking her own lunch to save some madols/thaumarks, and in the process started packing lunch everyday for Grim, Ace and Deuce, but she never does something they actually want to eat. So it's mostly healthy stuff she knows they won't eat on their own.

Facile Drake

👯 ˀˀ. . . ₎ Facile loves messing up with his friends, mostly if they get easily angry (like epel). It's his primer way to show intimacy, and makes it very clear who he is comfortable with. beyond that, he always puts a little shadow with his friends when he's away in case they need anything (its faster then messages, he says) but honestly that's how he and Sam always know everything around.

He loves you! You manoeuvre in the air and swing about just like him! Just that you got webs, cool!

Definitely joins you in hanging upside down, also loving to compete with you (lovingly) to see who can jump the farthest, or who can do the most bomb-tastic somersault with you and you guys have so much fun during patrol it’s not even patrol anymore.

Beating bad guys in the most dramatic, acrobatic way possible is definitely something Bruce and the rest of the brothers all sigh collectively because you two can be pretty chaotic.

But whatever, you two have so much fun jumping around.

Has taken you out on dates as Nightwing and your spider-sona, because even people around the city thinks you two are a match made in heaven. I imagined a pizza guy giving them a box and saying for them to have fun while swinging around with Dick and having pizza in between your teeth while you race to see who can reach the far end of a street whilst swinging and stunting about.

Overall, you two make a loveable couple of acrobats. <3

Jason Todd

He thought you were annoying at first, but even he can’t deny you make his day (most of the time).

He feels a bit irritated yet amused whenever you hang upside down and playfully greet him or joke with him while on patrol, sometimes in secret which scares the shit out of him when you pop out of no where and he starts cussing before letting out a long, exasperated sigh when he looks at you laughing to yourself. Damn spider…

But even so, he can’t help but dote on you, even if you can be an annoying ball of energy sometimes. He just can’t help but let you jump around him with your spiderwebs all over the house when you try to take something from afar, using the webs to pull it towards you. Although… you are a bit bashful and guilty for keeping his tidy room messy with webs everywhere that you help clean up which he appreciates.

On patrols, you’re usually faster than him and sometimes he complains so you just shut him up by scooping him in his arms and holding him by the waist with one hand before web-slinging your way to the location where the criminal gang is as he huffed. From afar at times, it looks like a grown ass man being baby carried or held like a big dog by some spider person across the high buildings, which he gets a little flustered over.

Regardless, Jason still loves you. Just don’t shoot the webs everywhere- <3

Tim Drake

He’s fascinated by you, how your webs work and how you can stick on walls with just your fingertips.

Tim might ask a lot of questions about your anatomy and what your spider body can do which sometimes annoy you but he’s just so curious he can’t help it. Genuinely.

Another one who you scare the shit out of with you surprising him by hanging upside down and popping your head down to face his out of no where, but he’s not like Jason who reacts very… dramatically, he’ll just recover from shock to contort into a pout and maybe gently flick your forehead to tell you to knock it off, although he knows you won’t.

Might be a sap for that upside down kiss where you kiss him upside down and all because of course he would be-

Tim loves asking you to use your web fluid for practically everything now. “Hey, s/o? Could you use your web fluid to stick this circuit board in here?” “S/o could you grab the remote with your web? Pleaseeeee?” “S/o, I kinda need your web fluid to close up the hole in my pants-” sometimes you gotta tell him that’s not gonna work sometimes, and those pants will look weird if you do that-

Overall, Tim loves his whacky, loveable spider s/o. <3

Damian Wayne

Also like Jason, he found you annoying. But this guy is hard in denial before he admits he even likes you.

Damian, at first, keep scowling at how annoying you can be with your web-slinging for fun and not for patrol, and getting web strings all over his suit after patrol from an intense fight against the criminal gang you two were assigned to take down. Now, he still scowls but with a blush and his heart skipping a beat because he can’t deny how cute you are even if you’re an annoying lil shi- (or maybe you ain’t little but you get the point).

Damian will tolerate you swinging about, although he isn’t scared when you hang upside down to spook him a bit because you literally can’t, his god-like sense of instincts would immediately pick up on you without even needing to turn to face you. Sometimes you joke with him that he has spidey-senses to which he rolls his eyes casually.

He won’t say it out loud, but he thinks you’re a pretty impressive fighter and you kinda remind him of Dick but you’re still unique. He just make sure your web fluids don’t go all over the place that you make a mess of the evidence for the police.

Overall, a tsundere for his spider s/o. <3

YOU GUYS!!! I MET DRAKE 😭😭😭 my friend dragged me to a sushi restaurant unbelievably early (AND THANK GOODNESS SHE DID!!!) and just as we were about to leave... drake walked in 😭 now, anyone who follows this blog knows he's in my top 5 favorite thai actors & I've been a fan of his for over 5 years so you can imagine (!!!) how much my heart started pounding 😭 he sat on the booth part of the seats only 2 tables away from me, and after gathering some courage & making sure I wasn't gonna pass out, I called out to him & asked to take pictures. I was so scared of bothering him on his meal time, but he immediately got up to take the pics, and we started talking. I told him it's my first time running into a thai actor & he's one of my faves, I follow his youtube channel, that I wish him to get more roles & always support him... he asked me for my name, which he repeated TWICE (!!!), asked me where I'm from and when I told him I live in bangkok for my studies he even asked me where I study! he also... SHOOK MY HAND??? anyways he was so down to earth & nice, it felt like he genuinely wanted to talk to a fan of his and not just rush to take pictures, I truly love him even more now 😭💜💜💜

I’m a longtime Zelda fan, especially BOTW/TOTK, and in my time in the fandom, I’ve never been overly fond of the idea of ZeLink, that is to say, until I saw your gorgeous art and read your headcanons, they are such a wholesome couple and so supporting of each other and ahhh! I ship ZeLink because of you! im always hugely into ship art and seeing what others come up with, but so far you are on top of my list of fav Zelda ship artists, I get excited and tingly whenever I see that you posted 😂🫶

Along with me gushing about your 👌👌👌 art, I wanted to ask because I love your style; how do you go about choosing the colors for the shadowing on the characters, I noticed yours always comes out so perfectly contrasting and vivid! and I noticed that you use different colored line-art depending on the base colors of the subjects, (and I’ve seen a lot of other artists do it too) I have wanted to try it out for awhile, but I haven’t figured out how to pick the right line art colors, and was hoping for some tips if you’re willing 💜💜💜💜💜 again, love your art

Nesta x Reader

Gwyn landed a right hook square in your jaw, bringing you out of the daze you’d been in. Grabbing the bone through your boxing glove, you gave her a bewildered expression, the Valkyrie giving you a knowing shrug before her knowing smirk turned towards Nesta.

Your heart sank as you watched the stunning female in talks with one of the Illyrian warlords, looking down her nose at him as the male shrunk under her gaze. You smiled knowingly, admiring Nesta’s raw power as the Lord bowed to her influence, admitting his defeat in whatever argument they were having.

As if alerted by a sixth sense, Nesta turned towards where you stood, silver-blue eyes trained on you for a long moment. She strode towards you with her long legs, amusement in her eyes as she stopped near where you and Gwyn were sparring. She focused on you, and the world stopped in that moment as you braced yourself for what you craved most: her attention on you.

Crossing her arms, Nesta nodded towards your hips. “You’re off center. Keep it up with that form, and your opponent will knock you off your feet in no time.” Her piercing gaze landed on your cheekbone. “And you’re distracted. Looks like Berdara already landed a solid hit.”

With that, Nesta strode away towards the next set of sparring partners, leaving your heart and pride fractured.

Gwyn’s soft voice rang out from next to you. “You should talk to her, you know. Let her know how you feel.”

You scoffed at those teal eyes, the way they looked on you with pity. “Why would I waste my time? She clearly doesn’t feel the same. You’ve seen how cold she is towards me. I swear she hates me,” you rambled, face turning red in anger and frustration as you squared up to Gwyn.

Gwyn gave you a deadpan stare, eyes flicking between you and the silvery-blue that you were unaware watched you from behind, drawn to you too often for their own liking. Gwyn squared up, smirking as she wrung out her hands.

“Sure, whatever you say. Just do something about this... tension you have. It’s unbearable for the rest of us.” You swung at her, the beautiful red-head effortlessly blocking your fist, giggling with amusement as you danced around the mat.

“That’s time for training today, everyone. Stretch out your muscles and get out of here. I’ll see all of you tomorrow,” Nesta called, nodding at each passing Valkyrie as they left the training ring.

You stayed in the corner, chatting with Gwyn about stopping by the library to grab a book this afternoon when you realized it was only the two of you and Nesta left. Nesta seemed to relax as she recognized the same, her posture softening as she made her way to where you stood with Gwyn by the water station.

Gwyn’s gaze followed yours over her shoulder, mirthful eyes twinkling as she watched the blush of your cheeks grow. “Nesta! We were just talking about the new Sellyn Drake novel,” Gwyn greeted cheerfully.

Nesta looked at you, bemused at the subject of choice. “Well Gwyn, if you have a copy, I’d love to read it,” Nesta responded, and you realized Gwyn’s plan.

The young priestess twirled her braid, a bright smile highlighting her striking features. “Oh, well... My only copy has already been promised for today-“ Gwyn paused, gesturing to you. “But I’m sure the two of you can work out an exchange, or read it together! That reminds me, I have to be going or Merrill will be on my case again,” Gwyn laughed, rushing away and out of the training area to leave you alone with Nesta.

“I didn’t realize that you were a fan of Sellyn Drake,” Nesta hummed, taking a seat on the bench by your side, motioning for you to do the same. You took a seat, muscles stiff as you grew nervous. “You’ve been distracted lately. That bruise could be much worse if Gwyn were better in hand-to-hand,” Nesta teased.

Her smile faded as she took in your expression, the way you chewed your lip, folding in on yourself as your thoughts wandered to just how obvious you had become with your feelings about Nesta. Her hand found your chin, lifting your gaze to hers.

The moment you dared to look into her eyes, the emotions that had welled up inside of you broke like a dam, words flowing from your mouth faster than you could register. “Nesta, I care about you. I mean, I think I love you. And I will get over it, I won’t let this be awkward. I just needed to get that off my chest because I have been holding it in for so long and I need to move on.”

Your eyes filled with tears, lips crumpling into a frown as Nesta watched you, her face unreadable. Her thumb swiped across your lower lip, eyes darkening as she held you in her trance.

“What if I don’t want you to get over me?” she whispered. “What if I feel the same way?” Her thumb dragged down your lip harshly, forefinger curling under your chin as her stare grew heated.

“W-why would you want to be with me?” you whispered, feelings of your inadequacy growing in front of the powerful female who held you, in her grasp in every sense of the term.

Nesta let out a sharp, almost mocking laugh as though the question you posed was ridiculous to her. Her soft hand slid up to cup your cheek, stroking the skin there as her eyes wandered over you, taking her time to appreciate having you to herself. “Why wouldn’t I want you, would be the better question. I’ve held back as long as I could bear, holding onto the rare moments we’ve been able to interact during training or in the library. I am a mess, I am broken and healing. But I feel for you like no one else before.”

Your body heated, warmth spreading through your chest at her confession as you leaned into her touch. Reaching out a hand towards her, you pulled Nesta closer. “Please, don’t hold back anymore,” you whispered, desperate for any piece of her that she would give you.

As though she could read your thoughts, Nesta leaned in, her lips nearly brushing yours. “I do not know that I have much to give, but everything I have, everything I am, is yours,” she breathed, closing the distance between you as her lips molded with yours, the soft warmth of her skin setting a spark alight in your chest as you broke into a smile.

requests are open! these fics will be at least 500 words for each request and will also be set in the canon universe. please see below in regards to the requesting guidelines.

guidelines:

in order for me to complete a request, it needs to have a character and a story/plot line. the characters i am currently taking requests for can be found at the end of this post.

i currently write only for fem!reader because that is what i have experience in and because i haven’t figured out the mechanics for gn!reader or male!reader.

i do not write smut (suggestive is ok!), gore, or cheating (done by/on reader), loss of child, incest, poly relationships or age regression. i have the right to delete or deny any requests that come through my inbox.

do not send me a request that you have already sent to another author. it’s icky, it’s iffy, and it ends up with at least one person getting hurt. it’s just a generally not great thing to do and i recommend not doing it at all. i understand that it might take longer than desired for your request to come out, but that doesn’t change the fact that the people who are writing these fics are exactly that: people.

DC - 2.Your three favorite characters and why you love them so much.

Oooooh, YES! More excuses to ramble about my blorbos!!! 💜

So my #1 favorite character is Kon-El/Conner Kent/The Kid/Superboy! He's just... With him it's often hit or miss for DC, but there's SO many fun and wonderful stories, and he's such a dork and a typical teen and so full of love and snark and and and more often than not him, Bart and Tim share a single braincell. Thank heavens for Cassie. ;)

#2 goes to Tim Drake/Robin/Red Robin - the little guy just wiggled himself into my heart at some point and... he's been living in my head rent-free ever since. I love that he's the smart one, who can be so dumb at the same time. That he's the emotional support Robin, but more often than not, he's just one lab accident away from turning super villain at the same time. He's self-deprecating, and needs a hug more often than he actually gets one. And he's so cute with Bernard (two halves of a whole idiot indeed)!

#3 goes to Clark Kent/Superman. I've been a Superman fangirl since my teens. And even though I'm actually not big on his comics runs, I still very much love so many of the TV and movie versions.

The announcement

Hi. I'm here to announce what I think is a pretty big job that I finally got up the courage to do. This is my first experience in creating works of this format.

Wormhole is a comic book that tells one of the many alternative universes with dp with elements of mysticism, horror and, of course, drakes live in this universe instead of people.

⚠From the warnings⚠: my work will contain elements of body horror, themes of death, possibly suicides, blood, perhaps straight guro. This is not what the work focuses on, but elements of the graphic representation of these topics may be present.

I present the cover of my comic book ^-^

I was inspired and started drawing my comic based on my random dragon au of Danny Phantom. So far, there is no system by which I would plan to release this creation of mine, in the end, I think it depends on my and your interest, anyway.

The comic will be released in 2024. I think that the publication will take place on several pages.

Later, I will create a separate post, which I will make pinned to collect all links to outgoing pages and chapters on it. I haven't decided exactly yet, but most likely there will be separate posts for individual chapters, since I plan to draw my own episodic covers for the chapters as well. You can follow if you're interested, but I'm just a poor student who has a lot of work to do, so don't expect a lot of quick updates.

A few of my sketches and some kind of spoilers on the topic when I wasn't sure if I was going to do a comic yet, hehe 👀

In fact, I tried not to spoilerize the designs of some of the characters here, hehe.

A/N: this was written probably two years ago (?) and kinda rushed, so it's not my best work. I did edit a bit and any mistakes or bad plot is mine and not my lovely beta-readers', @kitsun369 and @mothofhearts

Inspired partially by Taylor Swift's song, Gold Rush. If you recognize little nods to certain lyrics, congratulations! My symbolism didn't go to waste.

Marinette eyed Lila over the rim of her punch glass. She was talking flirtatiously with the host of their trip to Gotham, Wayne Enterpsises' CEO Tim Drake.

Marinette had hoped that he'd use his internationally famous genius to see through Lila's facade, but it seemed like the liar had another victim of her honeyed tongue. At least this time she wouldn't be lying when she bragged about knowing the Timothy Drake (even though everything Lila said after that probably wouldn't be true).

Marinette and Tim had met at the pre-party meet-and-greet, where their hosts formally introduced themselves to their Parisian guests. Marinette had met his eyes as they shook hands and promptly fell into his sparkling ocean-blue eyes that twinkled with amusement at her flushed face. She furiously willed away the heat creeping up her neck and into her cheeks, hoping it wouldn't come back every time she looked at him.

He was quite charismatic and she knew he was one of the most sought-after dates, a handsome heir to two multi-million dollar companies....handsome? She thought beautiful fit him better, with his expressive eyes and lean yet muscled build and hair casually falling into place over his eyes when he shook his head, laughing at a guest's joke.

No, bad Marinette. She had an online boyfriend, and they were going to make it official when they met in person. She was not going to do anything more than admire her host's looks.

Between the meet-and-greet and dancing/socializing part of the party was a fancy dinner, where Marinette sat opposite Tim and they had a delightful discussion.

It kind of reminded her of her DMs with her gaming partner/online boyfriend, RRBurgers (she called him RR). They typed about anything and everything and often debated random things just for fun, to test their wits.

Tim had said something—she was sure it was purposely controversial—and she'd ached to begin a war of words, but responded more mildly than she liked. He had looked surprised, then thoughtful, when she refused to verbally spar with him.

They'd brushed fingers as they crossed paths, completely by accident, and Marinette promptly increased her speed, heading to the powder room to silently talk to herself (and Tikki).

She was in love with RR and didn't need to fall for gorgeous eyes and perfect smiles.

Now, she was seeing red—or at least a shade of rose, the colour of Lila's surprisingly unostentatious dress—as she spied on Mr. Drake and Lila's flirting.

She drained her punch in an annoyed swig, moving to the balcony, and looked at the stars until her jealousy cooled. If Mr. Drake couldn't see Lila for who she was, he deserved her, she told herself.

With a sigh, she leaned on the railing and pulled out her phone to play a round of her favourite game.

She stiffened when Mr. Drake appeared at her elbow. How had she not heard him approach? Then again, the ambient chatter and music were noisy.

“You play well."

“Thanks.” She finished her round (a win) and returned her phone to her purse.

"You play Knights of Mirreile?” Mr. Drake obviously wasn't taking her silence as a hint, or else he was outright ignoring her body language.

“Yes. You know it?”

“I joined to practice my French with native speakers. I'm on the Parisian server, actually—my handle is RRBurgers.” He looked at her curiously.

She took a step back. “RR? I'm LadybugandtheTramp!”

He held out his hand. “Hi, Lady. I'm RR; thrilled to meet you in person.”

She shook it, willing her returning blush to retreat. “Wait a minute...tell me three things only RR and Lady know. Just to be sure.”

Tim grinned at her. “You're wise; this is Gotham, after all.

"Uh, une: I contacted you first, to ask you to teach me some hacks.

"Deux: You have PTSD from Hawkmoth and often can't sleep, so you game, because you don't like sewing as much anymore.

"Trois,” he lowered his voice and stepped closer. Marinette could feel his body heat, even though the air was crisp. “We're a couple in Mireille and when we are planning to meet and date in person. You told me you were in love with me twenty-two days ago, and I replied that I was in love with you too.”

Marinette could barely breathe when she saw the intense look in his eyes. “Uh...I guess you are RR...I'm so glad to finally meet you in person, although it's sooner than I was expecting! You're even cuter than I imagined.”

She enjoyed the pink on his face instead of hers more than she should have.

"Will you go on a date with me tomorrow, Lady?”

"I'd love to!"

" But until tomorrow, would you care to spend our time together dancing?"

The red on Tim's neck spread and Marinette giggled. "Who taught you how to be so smooth? I almost fell for you all over again."

Tim winked at her, took her hand, and led her to the dancefloor. Marinette silently thanked Chloe for insisting on teaching her how to properly waltz, at least.

As they swirled around the room, he complained in her ear. “I talked with Lila. You're right—I can't believe what she made up! When I asked for clarification, the lies got more outrageous! I am so sorry for your suffering.”

Shyly, she admitted, “I was a little jealous of the attention you were paying her. I thought your smarts could see through her but it didn't look like it—you're a good actor."

“Thanks, I have to be.”

At her puzzled look, he explained, “In business meetings, you've got to keep a poker face, especially when you're a young businessperson like me.”

“Oh,” she nodded. “I understand that."

She relished in the angry look Lila sent their way as they twirled past her. Maybe Tikki's powers did rub off on her, building up to this moment. For some reason, she felt secure in the knowledge that she was safe and could be herself.

When she had first met RRBurgers online, she was prepared to keep her distance from him emotionally. It had been just after Ladybug and her team defeated Hawkmoth and she was depressed and suffering PTSD, gaming when she couldn't sleep or had nightmares. But RR had somehow wormed his way into her good graces with his nerdy jokes and similar lifestyle and whacky stories about his family, and the next thing she knew she had a big crush.

They gradually grew closer, DMing every day, and RR had really encouraged her in a way her old friends hadn't been able to do. She had changed a lot after being Ladybug, but they still saw her as Past Marinette. RR was a virtual friend, a blank slate, and knew Present Marinette.

He'd encouraged her to stop sewing if she didn't have a passion for it anymore and not be bound by people's expectations of Past Marinette, but show them Present Marinette.

She hadn't been brave enough to completely act like Present Marinette, but with Tim encouraging her from her side instead of over a screen, she thought she could try now.

Tonight was as good a place to start as any. She approached Lila, Tim's arm around her waist. "Hey, Lila, I see you've met Tim's brother, Dick. Have you told him about that time you heroically saved Jagged's kitten yet?"

The Raven King - Chapter Nine

Day: Saturday, October 14th Time: 2:37 PM EST

Higgins rapped loudly on the door and waited. Neil didn't want to get any closer to Higgins than he already was, but he couldn't see Andrew's door well enough from here. He kept his eyes on Higgins as he edged down the hall. Higgins glanced back at the movement, but the door opening distracted him. Unsurprisingly, it was Andrew who investigated the authoritative knock. He only got the door halfway open before he realized who was standing in the hallway. Neil heard the doorknob creak in warning as Andrew twisted it further than it was meant to go. It was a startling giveaway considering Andrew's wide smile and the breezy tone of his voice. "Oh, I must be imagining things. Pig Higgins, you are a very, very long way from home." "Andrew," Higgins said. "We need to talk." "We talked, remember?" Andrew said. "I told you not to bother me." "You said not to call you," Higgins said. "Just give me a few minutes, won't you, for old times' sake? I came all the way out here to see you. Doesn't that get me any sort of consideration?" Andrew shook his head with a laugh. "You didn't come out here for me. You came on a witch hunt I already said I wouldn't help you with. Give meone good reason to not cut your throat, would you?" Dan hissed under her breath, but Higgins looked completely unfazed by the threat. "I was wrong. I know that now. The investigation on him turned up nothing." "I warned you," Andrew said, unsympathetic. Higgins held out a hand like he thought Andrew would shut the door in his face. "We were looking at the wrong person, weren't we? I think I've got it right this time, but I can't do anything without a complaining witness. The other kids won't speak up. They don't trust me that much. You're all I've got." That got Andrew's attention. "Kids? Kids, plural. You only mentioned one last time, Pig. How many are you talking about? How many has she had?" "You wouldn't care about the number unless there really was something there for me to find," Higgins said, quiet and accusing. "Just yes or no, Andrew. That's all I want. That's all I need right now. I'll give you a name, you give me an answer, and I promise I'll go away." "You promise." Andrew sounded highly entertained by the notion. "You'll break that promise inside a week, Pig. Don't pretend otherwise. Do I have to walk you out to make sure you leave or will you—" "Drake," Higgins said. Andrew shut up. Higgins stretched his hand out further, bracing for a violent reaction, and stared down at Andrew as he waited. Andrew was silent, but not for long. His drugs wouldn't let him keep still for more than a few seconds. "How many kids, Pig?" "Six, since you," Higgins said. Andrew pushed his door further open and stepped out, nearly shoving Higgins aside on his way to the stairs. Higgins strode after him, and the stairwell door slammed behind them.
