pardalote's top 20 makes for 2023! Post number three :D
Okay so this is kind of a double post. Firstly, I'm really pleased with the beetles I made this year, even though it was only a small handful. But also - I'm super proud of making my first online class, Embroidered Beetles! It was many weeks of work, structuring the lessons, filming and editing hours of detailed filming, making downloadable resources and launching it all. This was a big bucket list tick for me, that brought my teaching qualifications together with my love for stitching.

12 Things I have learned in these past 12 months
-> Note: Since August 2022, I did go through some unexpected changes - job loss, redirection, death of a loved one, depression and healing. But here is what I learned during this period of contemplation and self-introspection and I wanted to share it with you all 💗
▪️Take time to grieve, do not bottle up those emotions because they will eventually spill out.
▪️Loss is a part of life, the sooner you accept it the easier it gets.
▪️Before deep diving into the victim mentality, take a quick look to see how much the Universe has protected and blessed you.
▪️Stop discounting those tiny milestones they are equally important in the journey and you should acknowledge them!
▪️Ego vs Higher Self - learning to balance these two is difficult but so rewarding.
▪️ Healing is a gradual process and its okay to fall back on somedays.
▪️ Patience is honestly such an underrated virtue. Be patient with yourself and others.
▪️ Do not compare, contrast or judge your chapters to someone else’s. We are all on our unique journeys so its unfair to compare.
▪️ Have faith in yourself and be determined by putting in effort to reach your desired goal.
▪️ Trust that everything will eventually fall into place.
▪️Everything is an experience whether its good or bad.
▪️ Enjoy the present moment and do not try and control too much of the future. Just go with the flow!

If you've ever dreamt of experiencing Israel not as a tourist, but as a local, understanding every laugh, every sign, and connecting deeply with the land and its people, then you're in the right place.
I get it – diving into a new language, especially one as unique as Hebrew, can be daunting....
Which is exactly why I teach it like no one else, using my proven transformational methods.
Imagine walking through the vibrant streets of Tel Aviv, ordering your coffee with confidence, or meeting new people, being able to ask about them and share about yourself.
My teaching approach is shaped by years of experience, designed for English speakers like you.
I know the hurdles – from mastering those tricky sounds to understanding local slang. That’s why I created the PSP Phonetic System, cutting out the guesswork and making pronunciation crystal-clear from day one.
But it’s not just about speaking; it’s about living the language, understanding the heartbeat of Israel.
My Practically Speaking Hebrew course is more than lessons; it’s your bridge to authentic Israeli culture. Imagine the satisfaction as you start understanding jokes, signs, and songs in Hebrew, feeling the language come alive.
I know the journey of learning Hebrew, the challenges and the triumphs, because I’ve been there, and am there - living in English, my second language.
That's why I'm dedicated to walking this path with you, every step of the way. You’re not just learning from a teacher; you’re gaining a friend, a guide, someone who gets it.
This is not just about quick results; it’s about lasting connections, about bringing your dream of Israel closer than ever before.
With my course, you’re not just preparing for a trip; you’re opening a new chapter of your life, rich with understanding and genuine experiences.
Let's start this journey together. Your authentic Israeli experience awaits.
✍️ Comment the word COURSE and I'll send you the link with all the details.

20230922 - 7:40am [🏞️]
a lovely quote i've been keeping in mind this week is, "human happiness lies in a series of tensions" from last week's 채씨표류기 episode and i'm so excited to watch today's one!
it's only natural that i feel drained at the end of the week as there's so much to do between work and studies... having something like this to give even a small energy boost is very precious to me 🥺

Any tips for an online summer class? I'm struggling making a weekly routine that factors in work, social life etc.
hii, so sorry i took so long to get back you! i've gotten so poor at answering asks.
i have never taken an online summer class, but here are some tips from my uni zoom days:
start your day early. i know it's really tempting to roll out of bed and log into your class online, but you won't be able to keep a structured schedule this way.
and by schedule, make a schedule... for real! wake up and go to bed at the same time every day. eat breakfast at the same time every day. heck, even go for a walk in the morning and make it your "pretend" commute as if you were going to class in person.
get a planner, start using google calendar, whatever it is, you need to something to help you stay organized of deadlines, assignments, readings, office hours, and ofc, your class times. this will also help you figure out where you can accomodate (non-school) work and your social life.
online school can have you sitting for long periods of time, don't forget to stare up from your computer every 20 minutes just to look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds before coming back to your screen.
water and exercise!! this doesn't have to be super strenuous, but take a sip from a water bottle every 15 minutes, if you're on call with a professor during office hours, consider having your camera off (if allowed) and take the call outside during a walk. please remember to not neglect your health!
set up a designated work environment that is ideally, not in your room. if not, make a designated corner for in your room that is just for work. if you're not in that area/room you are not working - this helps your mental health and focus, which is why it's bad to work in your bed because your brain associates it with sleep!
turn your camera on. i know it SUUUUCKS, but this will help keep your focus in class if your concious that anyone can look at you.
get a application blocker and put your phone on do not disturb to limit outside distractions.
actively participate becuase it helps with information recall and deepens your unerstanding of the course material!
start an assisgnment as soon as as it is assigned - slow and steady wins the race!
i hope this helpful - good luck, you got this!

The weather might still be a mess outside for a lot of us in temperate North America, but spring is going to be here in a month! In the meantime, I have plenty of online classes on nature identification, foraging, and other natural history topics (and some in-person options a little later in the year, too!) No prerequisites or degrees, needed; these are for everyone! You can check out my current schedule at https://rebeccalexa.com/class-schedule/

୨✦୧┆How to STOP overthinking? girl manual
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: When you overthink a lot you usually get anxious because your mind wanders in your worst moments, right? well here I show you how to overcome this
Tumblr media
Practice being grateful by diverting your thoughts to moments, people or things that you like and be grateful that you have them or review why you like to think about them so much,This helps calm anxiety and relax you
Try to write down the things that make u feel bad about yourself, it can be in a diary, in your notes, or u can even draw it, this helps leave the bad things on paper and get rid of those negative thoughts
Singing, believe it or not, this can help a lot, listen to your favorite music (even better if you have headphones) and start singing it pls try to make this music with lyrics that you know by heart, this can also relax you
Dancing,ok, if you don't like singing, moving your body definitely helps you relax. It can be with happy music with a rhythm that you like ₍ᐢ › ༝ ‹ ᐢ₎
You girls are not going to like this option... but believe me, it will help you to tell someone you trust what is happening. It will take a weight off your shoulders and without a doubt it will no longer live in your head.
Cry,there is a great need to cry when u feel overloaded and believe me, sometimes it is better to give in, crying helps you release and then relax.
