I’ve noticed something in the fandom about Duke. It seems like he’s been given this ditsy, “what in the hell is going ooooon” when he’s really like, “yaaaa I want nothing to do with ya’lls shenanigans.”

Duke is one of the most level headed, pragmatic members of the Batfamily. Loyal and supportive through and through. He just doesn’t participate in the crack headery that is so normal amongst the rest of the family.

This is how I think a family dinner would go:

Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Steph: *screaming, fists pounding on table, arguing over the ending of some popular movie*

Barbara and Cass: *listening, waiting to add timely responses to stoke the flames*

Bruce: *sets down glass* so, Duke- *bun flys overhead* anything new?

Duke: oh *narrowly dodges another rogue bun* you know, life

Dick, peaking his head out the door: it’s an enclosed yard, he should be okay till he bonks out

Steph, who just arrived: what are we looking at?

Jason: a man walking the tight rope of sanity

Damian, mostly minding his business, eating coco puffs at the table: sanity?! I watched him have a full conversation with the oak tree regarding the ethics of the prison-industrial complex. We’re far past debating his sanity

Steph: oh god, it’s worse than we thought

Bruce, from the second floor balcony: TIMOTHY JACKSON DRAKE get the fuck to bed or god so help me, I will inject you with a sedative

Tim, turning from the oak tree to squint up at Bruce: Bruce, I don’t see how the electric chair is all bad

Damian, sighing dramatically: If I must, I will do the honours of stabbing the zombie with a sedative

Dick is OBSESSED with ‘Cheer.’

Jason has been caught watching ‘Altered Carbon’ on multiple occasions durn patrol. He watched an entire episode with some random high schooler who was doing homework on their fire escape.

Tim can’t stop watching documentaries. ‘Dirty Money’ is the shit.

Damian— was once caught watching ‘Drop Dead Diva’ by Jason and now will only watch crime shows.

Cassie is to good for Netflix.

Agreed! When I first got into this fandom I was so confused why Tim was THE COFFEE ADDICT. I can’t even think of a canon scene where Tim is actually drinking coffee, but I can with Barbara. I think he got this title as a head-canon because he’s kiiiinda crazy and coffee addicts are low-key crazy too.
