Quill was born from a pun, which should be completely unsurprising to anyone at this point XD but they were also born from a desire to insert myself into a story a little more.

Quill - the pen is mightier than the sword - who is the personification of a need to write that translated into a character that finds comfort in physical confrontation over diplomatic confrontation.

Quill - the author of my own destiny - who is doomed to reincarnate into the worlds of stories they enjoyed in their first life, who knows how the story is Supposed to go, who knows how they want it to go, who knows Changing It Could Break Everything, Who has learned that their very existence within the narrative changes EVERYTHING even if they do nothing - often frozen by indecision as to what is or isn't acceptable for them to do.

At this point, or maybe this won't change, Quill is almost less an OC and more a literary device given shape. I can't say what their favorite food is, or what their family is like, because none of those details exist.

No matter what world or what body they're in their hair is always white, devoid of color, but so shockingly white as to be a defining characteristic they can't shake. With light, white light has within it all perceivable colors and we can separate these into a visible spectrum, but in art white is a complete lack of hue and pigment, it's black that contains within it all manner of colors.

So the question is, is the persistent hair color a sign of fullness or emptiness? Is it for me to even say? Will I find that answer through Quill, and will I know it for myself to by the end of it?

And at the end of the day, does the question even matter if I can make an OC that lets me personally dive into a story so deeply that I get to spend hours writing smut and smooches with characters I enjoy in *this* life?

Maybe Quill will answer a question I've given up on answering for myself, having found contentment in simply not worrying about it, or maybe they'll just be a way for me to indulge and in doing so maybe effect someone else in a way they need.

"What's so funny?" he asks, trailing along your neck.

"It tickles," you answer, biting your lip.

He smirks, giving you a smooch on your collar bone. "Does it tickle here?"

You shake your head no, watching him carefully. He gets lower, placing a delicate kiss on your navel, enjoying the way your breath hitches at his touch. "How about here?" he teases, peering up at you, licking a stripe across your belly.

"Kento, please," you whine, unable to wait any longer.

He smiles, nuzzling his chin against you. Maybe he should shave less often, because he could definitely get used to this.

thinking about how one of the reasons i’ve always felt we haven’t really seen eddie outwardly React to buck being in danger is bc he’s never really been in a situation where he wasn’t Absolutely Sure he could save buck. like with the truck bombing, eddie is clearly agitated when they can’t get to buck but once he can?? he’s holding buck’s hand and helping hen treat him while the others work to lift the truck bc he knows he can pull buck to safety when the time is right. same with the factory explosion. they don’t linger on eddie’s reaction much but, again, as long as he can find buck he knows he can get him out. and he does. he’s the first one to grab the rope and the first one to reach him which infers a lot about the moments we didn’t see.

but now, eddie’s screaming buck’s name and trying to pull him to safety but he can’t. so he has to lower him to the ground instead. he has to put buck’s safety in everyone else’s hands. and as soon as he’s off the truck he runs to buck’s side again but bobby drags him away and makes him drive. so he spends three minutes driving to the hospital, not sure if buck’s even alive, and as soon as they stop he’s the one demanding to take over compressions. he’s the one yelling at the doctors to “Do more,” because he’s not allowed to do anything else except wait now.

and, on the one hand, it’s devastating to watch eddie slowly start to crumble because he clearly feels so helpless. but also, even through all that helplessness, even though this is the first time he really doesn’t know if he can save buck........he still did???

because he was the one to get buck’s heart beating again.

and that. that is something i going to need three to five business days to recover from, frankly

I think it's all about care, in the end. My cat is curled up on the bed I made for her, and the yarn used was made by people I never met, and the machines that they operated were invented by people who are perhaps long-dead. The electricity that courses through the veins of those machines were maintained in ways I never have witnessed, and it's about care, and pain, and care again. It's always going to be about care and community. Nothing that is built without that in the forefront of its mind will ever hope to live forever - only we will, and our care will. The only thing that will remain immortal - even with the pain even immense - is our care.

It's about care. It's about curling up on a warm blanket made by somebody who loved you enough to want you to be warm, and there won't be a shortage of that kind of care and love - it isn't a finite resource.
