Where 2 twst boys are crushing on Yuu and literally fighting over them while Yuu is oblivious to the whole thing. Neither of them see each other as competition tbh.

Riddle thinks Jamil is too scheming for you to like him and Jamil thinks Riddle is too stuck-up for your taste.

They both do little things to get your attention, neither being particularly fond of bold declarations.

Riddle always let you have the first slice of tart at unbirthday parties, which is actually a huge deal in the Kingdom of Roses but no one is allowed to say anything to you.

You're the only person Jamil can tolerate being in the kitchen with him while he's cooking.

He'll even let you put on your own music because he thinks it's cute watching you sing along.

They only notice their rival on Valentine's Day when you make chocolates for all of your friends.

In your alchemy class, Jamil was watching closely as you handed Riddle a box of chocolates to see the boy turn as red as his hair.

Riddle had never really noticed Jamil even though they were in the same class, but he did notice how the Scarabia dormleader smiled when you gave him his chocolates.

Riddle had never seen Jamil smile that genuinely and after asking Kalim, it wasn't a usual occurrence except for things that were really special.

After that, the boys didn't go out of their way to make a rivalry. They didn't want to spark any inter-dorm conflict.

But secretly, their hearts ache whenever they see you talking to the other.

They have to up their game on trying to subtly woo you.

It's quite a field day for you since you're receiving twice the homework help as usual, as well as many sweets left on your desk.

Grim is very pleased about this development because you always come back to the dorm with a bag full of Trey's baked goods and what is apparently some leftovers from dinner that Jamil made last night and definitely not something he made specifically for you.

Neither even consider conceding defeat since they're both so stubborn with things they want.

All the while, you are completely and blissfully ignorant of the glares they send each other across the classroom when you aren't looking.

They already hated each other, what's one more reason?

They both immediately noticed that they were rivals in love.

You were the only person who wasn't afraid of Malleus and he milked your attention, not afraid to show small shows of affections towards you which you interpreted as platonic intimacy even though it clearly wasn't.

And it wasn't very hard to tell that Leona acted differently around you.

He made an effort to actually stay awake when you were talking and, on occasion, even came to class when you asked him too.

It didn't take long for both Leona and Malleus to put together the feelings their rival harbored for their crush.

Mostly Leona saw Malleus as an active threat to his territory while Malleus just didn't like that you were spending time with the lion instead of him.

If you know anything about dragons, they get very possessive with their hoard which was, in this case, his very special human.

You would think that you would notice how you were being tugged on by two angry monsters, but you just assumed that was how they showed affection.

Whenever you were with Leona, he would put an arm around you or pull you into his lap.

Every night, when you went on your walks with Malleus, he would present you with some shiny knick-knack of some sort, which was practically a confession in the Faelands, though he knew you wouldn't understand.

To anyone else, their disdain for each other, as well as their affection for you, was entirely obvious but you just went along as if nothing was wrong.

You knew they had a Magishift rivalry and you assumed that was the only reason they butted heads so often.

Eventually, neither of them was getting anywhere with you and you seemed to favor then both equally, so they made a bet.

"Listen, you horned b*stard. I know you have a thing for Y/N and I know you know that so do I."

"Get to the point, Kingscholar."

"The winter ball is coming up. We both ask them to go and whoever they turn down has to back off for good."

"That's a bold move. Sure you're ready to give up Y/N forever?"

"I don't intend to lose."

It was kind of odd for you with the Winter Ball being the only thing people talked about.

Every time you approached a group, they flicked away from you like you were on the wrong end of a magnet.

You thought it was because no one wanted to go with you but it was really because they knew if they got within 10 feet of you, they would be viciously attacked by your love interests.

No one was allowed to ask you before Leona or Malleus, even if you rejected them.

They both fought to be the first person to ask you, resulting in neither of them actually asking you until a week before the ball.

They weren't worried about you already having a date though since they'd scared off all your potential dates.

Both were running out of time so they decided to ask you at the same time.

When you chuckled nervously in response to their question, they knew something was wrong.

They though they had scared away all potential suitors but they forgot about the one person they never considered a rival.

"I'm really sorry, you guys, but I already promised Grim I would go with him. He has this dapper little bowtie, it's so cute! I'll save you both a dance though!"

The two of them stood there stunned in silence as you skipped away.

Grim scampered up to them and put his hands on his hips, grinning smugly.

"Hehe, neither of you will ever date my henchman if I have anything to say about it!"

Leona just had to growl at him for him to run back to you with his tail between his legs.

❤️ Ace Trappola ❤️

You wouldn't normally think of them having a rivalry.

But Ace had always liked you and Azul just realized his feelings after his overblot.

You comforted him and accepted him which meant more than you knew.

So imagine his surprise when he discovered that the idiot who got himself indentured to the Mostro Lounge was also vying for your attention and succeeding.

Azul had never been so envious of a first year.

He considered ignoring you until his crush went away but he saw Ace as competition now and he was far too stubborn to give up.

Meanwhile, Ace had absolutely no idea of Azul's feelings for you.

You had 3 classes with Ace and the two of you spent a lot of time together, with the other first years and just with each other.

Ace knew it was strictly platonic but he just loves your attention in any form, even if it was scolding him for something stupid.

One day, his and Grim's antics got far more out of hand than was intended and he found himself in need again.

It was quite a coincidence that Azul was right there willing to clean up his mess for just a small price (?)

It was ever so satisfying to watch his rival slaving away at the Mostro Lounge, but Azul had calculated the outcome of this encounter.

All according to Azul's plan, you came to the Mostro Lounge to scold Ace and Grim and try to bail them out again.

Don't get me wrong, you were seething at how irresponsible they was, being indentured for the second time, but Grim was your responsibility and if Crowley knew the only other member of your dorm had gotten in hot water again, he would use it as another excuse to cut your allowance.

Both you and Ace were very suspicious of how amiable Azul was when you asked what you'd have to do to get the first years out of their payment.

Azul offered to let the entire ordeal go if you would agree to go on a date with him.

You thought he was joking because what self-respecting businessman would stake a money-making endeavor on a personal matter?

You didn't think it would be that easy to get Azul to let Ace and Grim off the hook but at that point, you would do anything to get Grim to stop whining your ear off about "being a slave to the takoyaki".

You took the opportunity and signed on the dotted line: you would go on a date with Azul and he would let your friends go free.

Ace, though he now was freed from servitude, was not happy at all about this development.

Why did that shady b*stard even want to go out with you anyway? He doesn't deserve that!

You are a little wary of Azul, seeing as how he actively tricked you into going out with him but he grew on you.

You started hanging out at the Mostro Lounge, making Ace even more jealous.

Azul was the picture of perfection around you though that didn't stop Jade from bringing up how Azul turned into a blushing, feet-kicking mess as soon as you left.

Grim was very conflicted when he discovered that your options were either the boy who attempted to enslave him at any opportunity and the boy whose mistakes get him enslaved.

"What do you need a boyfriend for, henchman? You've got me!"

She likes hanging out when shes not collecting teeth or just having some down time

You also explain to her that when you give someone karma they had it coming and deserved it

You like to hang out with her at the tooth palace(or whatever its called)

You have actually given abit of karma to pitch before

There have been times where you've had to put bunnymund and Jack in their place,she finds it funny whenever this happens

Her mini tooths love you to bits

Even when your not at the palace you'll always have a small group of them following you about

They like to make sure your okay and pick up teeth along the way

Honestly hes kinda excited

A guardian of karma sounds excitciting

He probally wouldnt be surprised if he was one of the first to receive karma though

He asks you constantly why you give him karma,much like a kid who broke a vase then pretended they didnt do anything

Hes very clingy

Tries to get other people out of trouble by bribeing you

If hes ever done something that you need to give him karma for he'll try get out of it by sweet talking

If there one person he'll never stop you giving karma to its pitch

Infact he constantly whines to you about giving pitch more,even going as far as making things up

He likes putting his hand on your shoulder

Will start snow fights with you at random

He will definatly see you floating around during an unexpected storm

Your almost constantly busy so he dosnt get to much time with you

Because of this he will definatly start more frost days so you can spend a day off with him and enjoy the snow

Hes mixed between two mindsets

Having another responsible guardian

Another Jack situation

He would definitely be surprised if he got any karma,its be a "I dont think I deserve this " even though he knows what hes done

Hes definitely got it easy after seeing the type of karma you gave to Jack though

Will ask if you can give karma to Jack,because he was playing with some of the elves....

He likes to hang out with you when your not doing anything in Easter island

He likes to give you personalized eggs as presents

Hes very protective of you especially when coming on the topic of pitch

Speaking of,bunny would definatly ask how much karma hes due,isnt surprised with the amount

You sometimes help him place the eggs around at Easter,its a fun activity for the day

Your the only one he'll ever allow to brush his fur,let alone touch it

Hes grateful that you seperate Jack and bunny alot,they can be quite tiring sometimes

Since you dont really have a realm or anything north let's you hang about in the workshop

The yetis and elvs love you

The elves will often climb on you or show you some of the toys

You help the yetis paint and make the toys every so often

He gives you one of the snow globes so if you cant make it back yourself you can just throw the globe

He acts very much like a father figure to you

Asking how your day was and what some of the people did etc

He was the one to reasure the others that you ment no Ill intention

You fit very well into the guardians

If north thinks you need a break he gives you a toy with a note with it

Let's you pet the reindeer

He allows you to watch the globe if your ever bored

This scene in s2 w Ed and Frenchie

Parallels with this scene w Ed and Izzy from s1

(Had to snip a part out so it would fit but at first Izzy denies and then he actually tries, albeit begrudgingly.)

I always thought the scene with Izzy was showing how disconnected the pair are and while I still think that, the s2 scene shines new light on that original interaction. Where Izzy is trying to understand his boss, Frenchie doesnt even try and only denies. This is understandable ofc with everything Ed has put him and his friends through but its just interesting how they chose to parallel the scenes. Here, Frenchie has just become first mate and its almost like Ed hopes he'll be a sort of Izzy stand-in or at least falls back on his usual rapport with his first mate. But Frenchie is not Izzy. And this parallel highlights that.

I've had theories about how Ed sees Izzy and s2 has given us so much food for thought. When Izzy directly asks him "Who am I to you?" Ed softly says "what", like he's not even sure himself. The look on his face is blank but almost imploring and unsure. Izzy is just...Izzy. Friend? Lover? Thats too complicated and yet not as complicated as their relationship with each other. Izzy has clearly thought about it but has Ed? They've been together for so long ("I've been cleaning up your messes my whole fucking life.") without communicating their feelings. Bc thats what pirates do right? They dont have time for soft things like feelings.

But then Ed goes off and finds a new lover unlike any of his others and Izzy panics. Stede is a threat to their way of life, unsafe-at least thats how Izzy sees it-and then its over and Ed is breaking, depressed and then pretending to be ok

TW: suicide discussion

-and to speak on that specific point some more, I subscribe to the belief that post Lucius-talk-Ed where he's planning music shows, etc is not him coping healthily. We see this paralleled in s2 where after Izzy is "dead" Ed puts his hair up, starts cleaning and seems "chipper". But then we know he's planning to kill himself and everyone on board that same day. So this whole charade feels...macabre. He's getting his affairs in order in preparation for the big deed. Depression CAN look like this too.

When Izzy confesses he has love for Ed he says it haltingly, like its hard to even get the words out, like he's never said anything like this before (and he probably hasn't). And the words he chooses too. Instead of "I love you" he says "I have love for you". Its like he's saying after everything, all the pain and heartache, I still have love for you. But Ed refuses to, can't hear what Izzy is saying, and dismisses his confession. Perhaps he thinks this is a ploy too. After all he's unlovable right?

But we know from later scenes that Ed does love Izzy

in his own way. Some may interpret this line as platonic, some romantic-but I think it's more complicated than that. Again, Izzy and Ed have been together for so long the lines have blurred. They love each other like a brother. They're partners. They hate each other. They're an extension of each other. They're coworkers. Boss and right hand man. They can't imagine being without the other.

Well, whatever they feel for each other its capital C complicated that's for sure.

I have so many thoughts about ✨️them✨️ but I'll leave it here for now. No hate in the comments pls. Both men are my lil meows meows and have done nothing (and everything) wrong. Love those gay dudes fr.

Really important for the relationship tag tho bc fr, it ain't about "oh what symbols can we add to mean different super specific designation" that's like w/e nobody fucking cares. What'cha gonna fucking do about the dumbest user? We already got ppl who can't see the difference between & and /, u really think that adding more isn't gonna completely fuck over everyone u got another storm coming.

Like in programming for users u gotta think of the dumbest person who might have to work with it. Someone who posts by slamming their device against the wall until it posts, you gotta think of them. Think abt that.

Idk if it even would be more inclusive anywho, like would having an entire wall of relationship markers be more inclusive to users, readers and the writers, or would it just make posting an absolute ordeal, esp if tags are right the fuck there. Don't forget about the poor fucking volunteers who gotta wrangle the fics. The fucking flooooooood of "Uhhh this fic used the platonic marker when akshually it should be the friends++ marker, and this one has the closed relationship marker, but akshually this one should have the open relationship marker, not to be confused with the cheating spouse marker." -this beheth satirical hyperbole. or is it just gonna be a real fucking mess because nobody is gonna fucking use the wall of markers and honestly just stick to the old ones and then give us the tags to be like "read the tags hoe" or "choose not to use specific relationship marker" bc some relationships just don't work like that.

U'll just end up with like 2/1000 fics having special specific markers and the rest is just gonna be cruising back with the &/ once the specialness of a bunch of markers wears of, and you figure out you gotta get a degree in AO3-relationship markers to post and find fics, and the entire list with the markers + explanations open on another tab.

Also like, Idk but I don't see anyone really going into / and expecting only sex either, or that it always means love between the A/B. Def would say that several of the non-con fics I read don't use / to mean romance, just sayin. / seems to be pretty open for interpretation of whatever ur reading and what the tags say, so read them.

Tokyo Ghoul Headcanons

These are my own opinions drawn from interactions in the show and manga! Please be kind!

Hi hi!! For sillies I wanted to share my TG headcanons! I am a genderfluid aroace lesbian so I'm kind of biased towards the women bc I'm in love w them all tbh but I'll probably make more if I feel like it. For now have some main ones :)

Hide (he/him cis) - Bisexual! He's heavily bi coded in the manga and in the anime too! The way he interacts with Kaneki especially is very...

Saiko (she/they trans) - She's a character I project onto a lot. She doesn't seem to care much for romance or really socializing in general which is so real tbh. Her lack of caring I don't think translates to her platonic relationships later in the series (as we see) but I think her romantic interest is slim to none.

Urie (he/him cis (?) I can see him as trans tbh) - He is a bitter gay man. Prove me wrong. He's the black cat to Ginshi's golden retriever.

Ginshi - Bisexual! To me he seems unconcerned w labeling himself but still views everyone as attractive and isn't sure why.

Tooru (he/him trans) - MY FAVOURITE CANON TRANS MAN ILY 🙏🙏 He's gay imo but I am open to other interpretations as well.

Juuzou (he/they agender) - Demisexual but even then hasn't ever been romantically involved w anyone bc of his trauma.

Rize (she/her demigirl) - I have no clue why but she gives off a lesbian demigirl vibe idk?? I'm in love w her and want her to be a lesbian but besides that. I have nothing.

Ayato (he/him trans) - I think he's a trans man and aroace. I don't imagine him falling in love like. At all.

Touka (they/she nonbinary I just forgot the flag) - LESBIANISM ‼️‼️ Touka belongs on the island w me and the other lesbians. I view her and Kaneki's relationship as more platonic in the first series. In :re it's a Lot harder to ignore but I choose to ignore canon a lot anyways in favour of my happiness so idk. Plus she's in love w her human best friend so idk what to tell y'all besides the Touka is a lesbian truth.

Kaneki / Haise Sasaki (he/they demiboy) - I normally view these two as different people BUT I can honestly see Kaneki impacting Sasaki's identity and vice versa. Kaneki just whispering in his ear "you WILL be gay. You have no choice."

i may seem to lean in more towards romanticism of zolu but imma be real here

theyre a whole secret third thing to me like— idk how to explain it it other than their love and bond transcends what romance and platonic. yes i will draw them smooching and have hearts flying all around them but it is not exactly romantic/platonic... (i mean honestly i dont mind how ppl interpret zolu whether its my art or in general)

bc i saw this one comic that just... perfectly described zolu and the strawhats to me? it was about law catching zolu and then discussing with the other strawhats about it and they explained that luffy does in fact love everyone equally and the same. for luffy, romantic nor platonic is Not a thing to him. (this is how i view luffy's aroaceness !! love isnt a category for him. love isnt something he could just pick and choose or whatever. love is just... loving someone. love is for the people very dear to him.) and in the comic, the strawhats say that zoro's the one and only guy who could keep up with luffy's energy and antics. so they dont mind the things they do together in privacy or in front of them. they know how much luffy loves them ALL EQUALLY and they all love him back

on topic of zolu and aroace... i've been around spaces and talked to a few zolu shippers (qpr shipping count) and noticed how many of us are at least on the aro/ace spectrum. there's just Something about zolu's special relationship that attracts us, and if you ship them and are aro/ace, im certain you'd agree. (even if you arent, we can mutually agree that they are a third thing, right?) like, theres something so... aroace about their relationship. they can be seen as romantic and they can be seen as platonic, but what can be absolutely certain is that their relationship is definitely queer. bc it's not something you can easily describe or that their relationship is The Norm. theyre insane for each other. luffy's the sun. zoro's the moon. luffy's a good. zoro's the king of hell. they complete each other. they absolutely need each other.

my memory is horrible and i cant say the words properly but basically: zolu's love and relationships transcends romance and platonically. yes you can see it as either, but as an aroace, i Feel it is way beyond that.

and again, will repeat it a million times over (mind you, it's not canon. it's a widely accepted HEADCANON. if you think luffy's sexuality is something else, thats cool): i believe that luffy's aroaceness is way beyond "not interested in attraction/xyz/whatever" like yeah, he doesn't think about it because it doesnt matter much to him. he doesnt apply whats romantic or platonic to HIS relationships. he can recognize romantic, sexual, platonic things. it's just not his thing to really think hard about (he doesnt think much in the first place (affectionage)) he feels love for the people he cares about and if they feel loved by him, however he approaches the love (and if they accept that kind of form) thats all that matters to him. he doesnt label/categorize love because it makes no sense to Him to prioritize someone over the other just bc he loves that someone a different way. he loves everyone equally and treats them as equals.

and when it comes to Any luffy ships, calling his significant other "partner" is what fits best. theyre not just best friends, theyre partners.

this is a mess of a rant but this is just how i feel abt zolu, luffy, his ship pairs, and his aroace hc :]

day five of twelve days of rina: favorite episodes 🤩

I’m doing one from each season because I’m like that and can’t choose

season one: episode five - homecoming

homecoming is obviously one of the most important and essential episodes to rina’s storyline. This is where they all got started, this is when they really started to shine, and obviously without this episode there really wouldn’t be a rina. their chemistry was off the charts in this episode and honestly going back and seeing how genuine they are with each other and how they can be so fresh and just honest with each other; man it really is something else. rini never held a candle to rina, looking back on it. They never stood a chance. “I thought we sort of, like, got each other” and “You know I meant what I said. at the skate park, about you having your own style. I don't even think I knew how much I meant it when I said it.” like dude. monumental. Already these two characters are having such a profound effect on each other and it’s been only a couple of months. AND THE CHEEK KISS. THE FREAKING CHEEK KISS. because for me, rina was never really a thought in my mind until that kiss. Until Gina showed me that she was opening up her hard heart to the brown curly haired boy with the great voice and sass for days. until Ricky showed me he wasn’t opposed to it. until their chemistry was so off the charts I was blown away.

season two: episode four - the quincenero

okay, hear me out, this episode is actually pretty important to rina. There’s a ton of character growth from Gina specifically. obviously there are other moments but I really do like the moment where Ricky comes to Gina for advice about nini and she says that maybe they shouldn’t give advice to each other and she’s not nini. which I think is a beautiful parallel, looking back on it, to when Ricky didn’t try and convince Gina to stay in slc and not do the movie because he’d already had an experience with nini where he did tell her that and she completely fumbled and freaked out. which, understandable, whatever. That’s her. But the thing is, that’s what gina wants. Gina wants to be set apart from nini, Gina is completely different from nini and in this episode she’s trying to tell him that (which she’s right, bc nini did not like it at all when Ricky revealed he’d talked to miss Jenn about getting nini in the show, but the fact remains is that Gina said she’d be flattered but said “I’m not nini and we’re not dating” to try and tell Ricky that maybe that’s not what nini wants). Gina is telling him that the things that work for her are not going to work for nini because they are two different people and their relationships - both romantic and platonic, current and future - are entirely different. which is so profound and beautiful when you compare that to Ricky’s aversion of change and you see how nini and Ricky’s relationship began to fail because Ricky was using things Gina had told him all along. which is kind of emotional cheating but wtv. anyways, the fact that Ricky was dating the person he was “most comfortable with” but using the girl who represents change’s advice is something I just love. And I’m sure I’m not explaining it well, so if anyone sees this and wants to add/explain better pls do.

season three: episode five - the real campers of shallow lake

okay I absolutely love this episode and not just because of the rina content. everything about the drama between Maddox and jet to portwell drama to Ashlyn and Val and obviously Ricky angst and feisty gina makes this episode so 💋 but obviously, I’m here to talk about the what do you know about love duet. Which Ricky/josh and Gina/sofia ABSOLUTELY SLAPPED and I gave them a standing ovation as soon as it was finished. because this was EVERYTHING. Kourtney’s clear approval, Val’s interpretation of the whole thing, their freaking history, Carlos’s encouragement, ej’s uncomfortableness, it’s all perfection. their playful banter, their voices, this being their first duet, ugh it does things to me. And the fact that it really does represent gina as anna and Ricky as Kristoff seeing that Gina is in a brand new relationship and thinks everything is rainbows and butterflies while Ricky, who has only experienced love where he has to work for the other person and strive to make things work instead of it being more effortless and easy (as rina are later) is amazing and beautiful. I could explain this more later but I don’t want to run out of room so if you want to know more, lmk. and also the “rebound” afterwards where RICKY APOLOGIZES FOR HIS INTENSITY KNOWING GI WAS EQUALLY AS INTENSE because he knows something is up with ej. but he wants to be there for gi. He wants her first relationship to go well, and he defends her to ej as well telling him that she’s just tired and coming down from the rehearsal. watch out world, Ricky Bowen will defend Gina Porter with his entire being.

season four: episode five - admissions

AGHHHHHHHHHH this episode lowkey might be my favorite of the entire series. but then again I loved every moment of every episode so I won’t say that. But this episode is MONUMENTAL for both Gina and Ricky and especially in their relationship. Gina finally opens up to her mom abt her and Ricky, Ricky opens up to ej about his fears and confronts his tendency to hide when things go wrong, and it all culminates in a beautiful second chance confession rain kiss spin hug. UGH, Tim, my FRICKIN HEART! I really do love the conversation between ej and Ricky because they truly are brothers and besties. ej truly helps Ricky so so much. And I could have a whole conversation about their conversation and all the ways it is beautiful but I won’t. Gina, meanwhile, is coming to the realization that Ricky is her inspiration and Ricky is the reason why she is happy. Ricky Bowen makes her the happiest she has ever been and it physically hurts her that her mother does not know this (it hurt me, as a viewer!) and the beautiful second chance playing as Ricky sees Mack and Gina and turns away~ it really shows that 02x12 really was about Gina all along, it was never about lilly. it was always Gina. nobody else ever stood a chance.

i saw your tags on that post, can you tell me about the homestuck quadrants? i was hugely into homestuck like 10 years ago but i’ve forgotten almost everything. i want to remember the ancient ways

Matesprit ❤️ is easy, its just what humans see as romance and true love etc. One of the two reproductive quadrants, yadda yadda you get it.

Examples: - Morticia <3 Gomez - Ruby <3 Sapphire - Darcy <3 Elizabeth, with arguably some grey/black romance thru the story but thats what makes it so enduring

Moirails ♦️ is my personal favorite quadrant and is fairly straightforward, tho the canon definition is different from fanon. In fanon, its interpreted basically as best friends/queerplatonic, which, yeah, can and usually does happen with that proximity and thats why I love it, but in canon its more a power balance to prevent violence and death, typically with one figure reining back a more chaotic one. When applying to humans and other fandoms tho its better to lean toward the slightly fanon interpretation since Alternia's violent culture is so different from ours.

Examples: - Nepeta <> Equius - Aziraphale <> Crowley (obvi the situation is changing but lets leave this here) - Dean <> Castiel (obvi i'm team matesprit but canonically they belong here up til cas declares his love) - Joel <> Ellie (this is a strictly platonic quadrant dw) - Caleb <> Nott/Veth (I want to shake liam and sam so bad and explain that the relationship they were looking for was right here and they didnt have to awkwardly choose between romance and friendship)

Auspictice ♣️is the one everyone gets wrong and drives me the most insane. It's a tricky and very specific balancing dynamic thats hard to find, except maybe on the CW. Canonically, its a group of three people, two (left and right leaves) want to outright kill each other. This does not make them kismesis, I cannot stress that enough, kismesis don't want each other dead, but we'll get there in a sec. The third person is meant to prevent them from killing each other, being the mediator. Its rare for this dynamic to not be outright toxic, esp in human examples, but its a healthy option on Alternia to prevent unnecessary murder. I think this dynamic is meant to be temporary tho, even in that culture, as it weighs on the mediator a lot.

Examples: - Eridan <3< Sollux ^ Feferi, unfortunately unsuccessful showing how difficult and straining this relationship type is (also everyone who said eridan and sollux were kismesis owes me $5, I'll become a millionaire instantly) - Edward <3< Jacob ^ Bella - Pearl <3< Greg ^ Steven, a happy ending example of an auspictice (ignore the ptsd)

Kismesis ♠️is. man where do I begin. its so good. its such a fun dynamic, especially when you have a pairing that gets it just right. Kismesis is perfect enemies, arch-rivals that share a mutual respect and drive each other to improve themselves to better outwit their opponent. Its when a captain sees one of their ships on fire and smiles, knowing just who did it. Its tipping your opponents head up by the tip of a sword. Its the bad guy showing up at your doorstep because theres no one else they trust more than their greatest nemesis. Its the other reproductive quadrant because its just as deep and passionate as true love, and it can in fact switch between love and hate very easily and often.

Examples: - Quark <3< Odo (imo the BEST non-homestuck example) - Batman <3< Joker (friend hates when i say this but i'm right, esp with lego batman) - Xavier <3< Magneto - Light <3< L - God <3< Satan, why not lmao

I wish homestuck was seen as less cringe bc the quadrants are SOOO FUN to apply to ships and dynamics in other fandoms and contexts. At the same time, people get the quadrants wrong constantly, especially between kismesis and auspictice. And the quadrants aren't static, you don't have to lock a ship in just one forever! feelings change and very easily turn from black to red to black again, its all so complicated and fun to watch.

How would Darling know the bats have their eyes on her in the Yandere Purge AU though? And how does a Yandere Purge AU work cause it sounds so interesting and i’m invested already?

The idea was created by @yanderemommabean, a very clever and talented writer! If you like MHA, she made the Purge AU for a mha oneshot. (I believe?)

Disclaimer: This is my interpretation! I haven't been in the Purge AU community for long, so I'm not familiar with the nuances.

There are two fan-accepted ways to pass on a letter: the government or the yandere themself.

Letters from the government:

I like this one because it fits better with the Yandere Purge concept. Yanderes have to go through the gov't to get their darling, so it would make sense that the letter would be gov't issued.

Letters from the Yandere:

The yandere sends the letter. Less in-line with the concept bc a yandere could choose not to send the warning lol. OR, the yandere-written letter could come WITH the gov't-issued notice.

Both methods are common in the Purge AU community!

TBH,, a lot of lore is fan-made/interpreted differently, so this is just my take specifically. I recommend you check out the yandere purge tag for more inspiration!

But basically, I like to think that the Purge AU world is full of insane people*. Like, it's just normal for people to be fucking nuts. There's lots of stalking, kidnapping, and murder everywhere, which have led to high death rates/dropping birth rates/and high suicide rates.

To curb this, the gov't began Purge Day, where people can legally kidnap their beloveds. Sorta like the gov't saying, "BEHAVE because you have a little treat once a year :^)"

and it works!

One rule I've seen floating around the fandom is that "the yandere has to let the darling go one year later, the day before the purge" to give the darlings a chance to escape before they're kidnapped again.

*(In the fandom, some people say that there are specifically Yanderes, Darlings, and Normal people. It depends on your preference.)

As for platonic yanderes:

Idk! I'd say they're common, or at least not unusual.

I think the gov't only allows adults to participate in Purge Day, (both yandere and darling), because of the romantic and sexual nature of the relationship.

With platonic yanderes, though, it's about family and protection. So I think the gov't would allow minors to be Darlings ONLY in the platonic sense.

characters ive changed on over time: ocean!! after the initial like YEAHHH GET HIS ASS kind of moment where ocean is birthed, once it starts Doing Stuff on its own, it did kinda seem like the most boring and wasted potential one a bit? but in s6 it clicked to me that this was likely by design- the whole point of ocean (at least how i interpret it) is it isnt actually free even a little bit. it got freedom and is choosing to not use it and brags about how it can do stuff that everyone else has FAR outpaced it at (speak1r's body count (AS IN KILLING) (unless🤔😳?!) is wayyyy higher than urs, sayer n future are the torture kings (gender neutral), 2peaker can just say No I Dont Wanna to orders, etc etc.) thru that perspective i grew to like ocean a lot!!

fave relationships: sayerhale #1 sayerhale #1 sayerhale was made in a lab to be catnip to me i think. i literally have 2 pairs of oc relationships that if i post them now you people will be like "thats just lesbian sayerhale🙄" and ill be like shut uppppp i invented them years and years ago. you cant tell me theres a big evil non-anthropomorphic entity that bosses around some human it basically owns and later puppets his BODY. yuou cant do that to me. if you do that, im going to guet sicl. (guetting an illness, of course, results in hauveing it.)

IN ADDITION: i think about futureporter like....more than i talk abt it bc i havent figured out how to express what i want to say? but i think about them. im equally down for platonic and romantic futureporter.... they just need to support each other ;n; (by doing epic murdersz)

whatevers going on with young (all) and future is of course extremely fascinating too. i think theres a lot of room to interpret if simyoung ever thought of future as a real friend or was just using it and the answer i come round to is like.... no but yes but no? i dont think he ever thought of it as a true equal. but something that is your sole comfort in hell is still your friend. it was his tool but also his only friend. it's heartbreaking if you think too long about it....

Honestly I love how the show has shifted our perspectives on these characters and their relationships with one another. Honestly in the YT series we got some instances and scenes to be able to make inferences of their personalities but the TV series? Mwah thank you Becky and Joe for this good soup.

Literally we see how they’re stuck together and fucking hate each other on any given day because they’re 3 randos stuck in some place where every day they restart at home before ever being able to escape- who don’t know even how to escape this place.

So they just simply get by and at this point after the YT series they’ve kinda gotten used to the same routine of teachers popping in and out of their lives to torture them. Of course a few changes are welcomed bc it does become dull, maybe perhaps that’s why they go batshit on each other when given the chance bc holy shit what do you do with that resentment and anger that lives inside of you and all you’ve got is a confusing group (clump? Found family?) who don’t really fully understand each other.

But we also see that on any other given instance, they have formed their ways of showing how they care and get along. (I will probably edit it in later bc I only have limited storage in my brain and majority of it is full of bullshit)

However a little detail I’ve noticed is while Red is hardly vulnerable about personal feelings, he just seems like he assumes nobody truly cares enough about him to even a “best friend” level and given with how his family treats him I honestly can see why he feels that way. I even think regardless of the platonic or romantic implications- the “I like looking at you” scene is just so. Good. Yes because it’s a nice moment and has quite no heterosexual explanation for it but. The whole “I see you and you see me.” motif is just. So good in a way for both characters in that one moment.

They’re in a time of distress but also ease, everything feels easier to say in the dark when no one can see you. However with a egotistical, narcissistic, and honestly weirdly stupid but also fruity ass character who over compensates for either not actually being good enough (as we can see through him only making a minimal mistake that gets him instantly thrown out of a family, we can possibly assume this for other scenarios or his actual real family and well him as a character..)or something else, coming out of his head, seeing someone for who they are and liking it- is just fucking refreshing for this character. And Red? Holy shit, 1) him being the one to first openly admit is well kinda new for his character but then again his character has expanded beyond monotone and boring- he has emotional outbursts and is just as scared and angry as they are but we’ve never fully seen him say something alike to what he does say in that scene.

“It would be nice to look at the house again..and maybe looking at you too.”

Idc whatever you interpret it as- I just love how we see through small little moments and voice lines and scenes like this one how each go about their way of expressing themselves. Also just the line?? The scene?? Taking place in the dark??? Dude don’t even get me started bc while I know there is a bunch of context this scene could’ve easily been cut but it was left in for a reason. And I just generally love motifs that connects characters through “I see you” so. Yeah.

And I haven’t even fucking touched Yellow yet >:)

The whole thing with episode 6 just reveals so much more. Of course he’s always been a little silly but never fully ignorant of what bad things happen to them. especially in the YT series and haha we see that within episode 6 too. And now we see a “separation” between parts of himself, see how much aware he’s been of the hellscape they’ve been stuck in and choosing to just try to make things better by doing what helps Red and Duck feel better. Just be the happy and goofy kid. However when he can think clearly, for himself solely is when you realize he’s been thinking of this stuff for the entire time, just never had ability to communicate everything without hurting people or himself. Idk just kinda sad seeing a kid with so much shit in his brain and having so much difficulty expressing them while also going through so many emotions at once is like. Fuck you’ve got 97 mental illnesses and not in the quirky way…

But the scene with “have we gone wrong?

I don’t think so…atleast it doesn’t hurt to think anymore-

they seem upset with us….

well maybe it’s because they’re not in control of us anymore….

maybe they never were.”

It represents so many experiences. Like discovering that maybe you dont identify with what you were born with and how that effects you and your family- or a kid growing up, realizing they are scared of shifting away from themselves as they grow, or just realizing you cannot be what everyone wants, that you are in control of your life.

Well until your batteries get taken away.

And then the dynamic between all of them? Ugh I don’t know if I should discuss bc of how long this will end up being. This is probably incomprehensible and stupid but idk that’s like my thing so. Yeah get with it.

i feel like i'm being gaslighted by the majority of the byler fandom bc they've all collectively decided that mike understood that will's speech was about his feelings and not el's feelings, even though the whole point of that scene was that will was crying so hard because mike didn't understand. and now people are acting as if interpreting that scene the way it's shown to us onscreen automatically makes someone stupid and 'surface level.'

i don't mind anyone thinking that mike did understand, i just wish that people wouldn't look down upon anyone who doesn't agree. ig it's just frustrating that so many people have decided that their collective headcanon is the only way to view things and that anyone with a different viewpoint is automatically wrong.

i completely agree with you anon! it’s weird how people get tunnel vision about these extremely specific headcanons.. like if you take a step back and think about how that revelation would play to an audience that isn’t hyperfocused on every detail the way bylers are it just ..doesn’t make a lot of sense? It’s pretty clear to me and i think to most general audience members (or those who actually watch the show with the volume on) that will’s feelings are being used to stand in for the way mike wants (or thinks he wants) el to feel about him. The entire point of setting it up this way would be so that once the truth is revealed, that mike actually felt loved and valued by will’s feelings for him and not el’s, there is a clear and simple path to him realizing his feelings for will and them ending up together. And like, maybe this is too much of a “surface level” explanation for some people but the show is meant to be intelligible to people beyond this insular community.

Mike knowing about Will’s feelings for him, realizing he doesn’t romantically love el, and then consciously choosing to make his speech to El romantically coded when they just as easily could have done a platonic monologue that motivated her and even could have involved will, jonathan, and max is just a very weird choice in my opinion... also the reveal that mike just knew all along doesn’t even sound as dramatic or exciting to me as him going through the process of having that revelation about his feelings for will on screen. LIKE why would you want a passive “oh yea i know how you feel about me lol” when you could get a fleshed out storyline wherein mike comes to understand that?

I think a lot of this sort of thinking can be attributed to hiatus brain and us all being so starved for content that we’re forced to keep reinterpreting the same scenes over and over until we find something that excites us. I think that when season 5 finally does come out people will be less divisive over little things like this.

genuinely just wondering about ur view on things. how do u deal with the show drawing parallels between hughie and butcher's little brother while shipping butchie? not trying to be mean bc i used to kinda sorta like to ship them but when the parallels got so blatant i found i couldn't anymore

okay so i'd like to preface this by saying that contrary to, like, annie and hughie, whom i'll riot if they don't end up together, i wouldn't want butcher and hughie to actually be together on screen, especially after s3 since they're clearly sticking with the brotherly love thing. personally i started shipping them in s1 when there was nothing showing that butcher saw hughie as a brother-- or that he had a brother at all. i don't mind letting them do their lenny parallels in the show while having my own personal version/interpretation of their relationship separate of the course the show is taking, just like i'll keep believing kimiko and frenchie are love interests even if the show truly decides to make them platonic going forward. that being said,

i honestly think they introduced the lenny thing because butcher and hughie were getting a little too homoerotic in s2, so they needed to no homo things, and it ended up being a compelling storyline so they went with it in s3. they've done the 'no guys its not gay because it's BROTHERLY love actually' thing with half the popular tumblr gay ships anyway, including destiel. it seems its most writers's go-to technique to try to no homo a deeply homoerotic relationship

there's also the fact that as much as they'll parallel hughie to lenny they also often parallel him to becca, butcher's literal wife, and they often group hughie's relationship with butcher with his relationships with robin and annie, his two canonical love interests. im personally choosing to understand this as butcher just putting hughie in the 'people i love' category, and the people in there so far were just lenny and becca, so he compares him to both of them.

(also if they really want hughie to be exclusively like a brother to butcher sure they shouldn't parallel him to his wife so much but also mayyybe they should tone it down a bit with the sexual innuendos. we can attribute the 'how hard did butcher suck your dick' thing to soldier boy's general homophobia, but why the FUCK would they make butcher tell hughie 'when this is all over i'll buy you a bottle of top shelf lube and tickle your balls until you beg me to stop' if they wanted them to seem 'brotherly' lmao)

plus, since apparently kimiko and frenchie, who had a full falling in love three season long storyline and kissed twice, are apparently not romantic and more like family or siblings according to kripke, im gonna go ahead and ignore his general opinion on things and relationships in the show

This song just makes me feels so relaxed, life is easy, there're no problems just sit in the sun and enjoy. I love it.
