Forbidden Thought #124
I was thinking about a woman’s body. Being a heterosexual man, that is not surprising, but the thought I was thinking was — what if it is NOT a woman’s body?
What I mean is what if the baby, once conceived through sex, has a right to the womb within which it is developing? The womb belongs to the baby. The womb is the baby’s rightful “home” for nine months, and it is illegal to evict that baby prematurely because the baby is a tenant with a nine-month lease. In other words, the baby’s right to the womb takes priority to the woman’s right to the womb because the baby’s life, for those nine months, depends on it, and the baby’s right to live takes priority over the woman’s right to kill it.
(These represent two opposing mindsets — the first, Right to Live, is the mindset of love and of light; the second, Right to Kill, is the mindset of hate and of darkness. This dichotomy is mythic and it makes a potent subject for art, poetry and novels.)
This does not infringe on a woman’s right to choose because the choice actually happens prior to the conception of the baby. It happens before the sex, not after the sex. Every woman has the right to choose to have sex or to choose not to have sex. I term this “pre-choice” (pre-sex choice). It’s a woman’s choice because it’s her body. No woman should be forced to have sex. That’s rape. It’s illegal.
But, what if our society was to give women a “post-choice” (post-sex choice) — if pregnant, the woman is bound to carry the baby to term, but once the baby is delivered, she is free to choose to walk away from that baby, to legally abandon it and not have anything to do with it ever again. The only responsibility of a pregnant woman is to deliver a healthy baby.
And because pregnancy is a burden, no woman should have to go through it alone, especially since she did not get pregnant alone. Thus, the “father” of the baby, the sex partner, should be expected to support the woman that he got pregnant for the duration of the pregnancy. After the delivery, he, too, has a “post-choice”.*
This presents many challenges — what happens to the baby? who raises it? who will pay**? etc. — but they can be successfully overcome once we change our mindset — human beings are not an encumbrance to society, they are its natural resource, a resource that should be developed, not aborted. In other words, though some women don’t want their babies, we, as a society, should want them. That would be the way of an advanced civilization and of enlightened humans beings.

* Each parent’s choice is independent, meaning that if a woman chooses to raise the baby, but the man chooses not to, he is not legally liable to provide any financial support. If the man chooses to raise the baby, and the woman chooses to walk away, she is not legally liable to provide financial support, either.
** The money issue is the least challenging aspect of this. Money would come from donations — churches will help, Christians will help, pro-life people who want to ban abortions will help, politicians will help (after all, these babies are future voters), corporations will help (after all, these babies are future consumers). The babies will eventually grow up. Some of them will become successful. They will give back to the system that allowed them to live. Money would not be the big challenge. The big challenge would be how to protect these lives from predators, traffickers, corrupt bureaucrats and scientists wanting human subjects on which to experiment.

One thing I love about Alien Stage is how they're utilizing having two head animators, specifically their art styles.
Vivinos has a very youthful style, with characters generally looking very rounded with small, circular heads (for example). The team leans more into Vivinos's style during flashbacks of everyone as kids, but also notably in the videos for My Clematis, Unknown Til The End, and Black Sorrow.
When Mizi, Till, and Ivan all first debut on Alien Stage, they look youthful...but in subsequent rounds, the project shifts more into QMENG'S art style. That means longer, more angular faces, sharper features... and in combination with everything else, that more mature style makes the characters look like they have aged.
The events of participating in Alien Stage have changed them, and that is reinforced through the art Direction. Mizi in ROMH looks different than she did in My Clematis. Ivan and Till look different in Cure than they did in their initial rounds. They are different. Alien Stage has done that to them.

And then I get into a spiral of realising over again just how powerful language is, and how immensely saturated it is with both subtle and overt misogyny. She was the first Asian person to be nominated for any Academy Award (best actress in 1935)! She also survived a car accident in 1937 and kept on acting until 1973, despite potentially career-ending facial scars. Also, she met her third husband while they were filming a movie together in 1973 (her last movie and she still looks great!). They fell in love and got married in 1975 when she was 62 and he was 36. She died 4 years later in 1979. Iconic.
Jean Seberg (Breathless, Saint Joan)— Some of us watched À bout de souffle as a lil French undergrad and had the trajectory of our lives changed by Jean Seberg. She IS French new wave!! She is the moment!! She sadly had to work with a lot of shitty directors in her career but even so, she has this magnetic energy whenever she’s on screen. In her personal life, she was also very supportive of civil rights causes, and was even targeted/harassed by the FBI for financially supporting the Black Panther Party.

Firm believer in Aziraphale both being A Gay and being technically asexual and agender. Mostly because I am asexual and agender but am still A Gay, and I know what that looks like. He looks like a gay man and talks like a gay man and joined a gay men’s club and hangs out with the gays in London’s main gayborhood. He’s gay-gay. His gender is still angel and he’s still sexless unless he really wants to make an effort. He’s gay as a social category. He’s gay because he more or less chooses to be. And I think that’s incredibly based of him.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the justice league being labelled as " The Avengers of DC" and its like. No? The avengers are law enforcement. The Justice League are volunteers

Danny’s parents don’t take the reveal well. They promise to hunt down phantom and and fix there baby boy. The king Phantom must be possessing Danny. He must be after information on the mortal realm to take it over.
This leads to Danny on the run.
Now he has access to the resources of the realm. He also never tells anyone he left amity because his parents were hunting him down. He just told them he wanted to travel like Ellie.
He earns money and whatnot by selling extinct or near extinct ingredients. Stuff used for spells and other hard to find items. Ghost in the realm are happy enough to tell him where they hid there stashes and the realms plant life is all extinct plants. Those that died out.
This leads to him meeting Zatana and other magic heros (if they have a bad vibe he won’t sell to them). He avoids John. He’s received numerous warnings about the soul seller.
He is in the middle of a transaction when Jack and Maddie locate him. They then proceeded to capture him all while screaming about “fixing” him.
Danny shockingly enough had been concealing his identity. They didn’t need to know he was only 15. And of course he was wearing a device to hide his ecto signature.
During jack and Maddie’s attack. Both his disguise and device are ruined.
Now the magic user knows Danny is at least a partly human child and the king of the infinite realm. Who is being attacked.

What I will say is this: abortion is good and necessary but the fact so many of them are happening reveals a huge problem with irresponsible and sexually coercive men. And I think that gets buried in the discourse over whether women should even be allowed to have abortions. Personally I think the laws should be on mandating condom use for men. It wouldn't stop all sexual coercion resulting in pregnancy, but it might stop some. And it would be nice to see men squirm and whine about it, tears in their eyes, crying "my freedom! my body, my choice!"

or, well, that’s what the sinners at the hotel thought, at least. you obviously knew that the king of hell had been flirting with you, and at the beginning, you almost fell head over heels for him, until indecisive thoughts started to fill your head.
"was he REALLY flirting with you?", "why would he still be wearing his WEDDING ring if he had been flirting with you?", "will he ever LOVE you like he loved lilith?", "will his daughter even ACCEPT your relationship?"
as soon as those thoughts started appearing, you started distancing yourself from the fallen angel, sadly for lucifer he had already started to get the courage to officially ask you out on a date.
the king of hell wasn’t an idiot; he noticed how you started to make up excuses to not talk to him alone or how you weren’t really responding to his flirting anymore, but decided to be stubborn and brush those thoughts off.

as soon as you received a text from lucifer saying he would pick you up around eight, you knew he was planning something, and as soon as you saw him all dressed up, nicely done hair and his prideful smile showing on his face, you knew what was coming, but who were you to not appreciate his efforts? if you knew that it was going to end someday, why wouldn’t you enjoy the moment? yes, you were being a fool for accepting his offer, but having a tiny crush on him wouldn’t hurt you, right?
after having a nice and really luxurious meal at a restaurant in hell, lucifer guided you to an actually peaceful spot where you could see all of the pride ring. ironic. who would even think that hell has a peaceful place, one where you should feel relieved, but why weren’t you feeling that way? was it because you knew what was to come?
"(name), is everything alright?" lucifer interrupted your thoughts with his angelic voice, or could you say demonic? at the end of the day, he was still an angel, just a fallen one. "mmh? yeah, i was just..lost in my thoughts i guess" you answered, admiring his glowing red eyes shining in the dark. "oh, okay" he said, letting a nervous laugh come out. "i think there is something i need to tell you, (name)" lucifer said, this time his voice had a serious tone. "i thought that after lilith I couldn’t get to love again, but heavens was i wrong. i had the chance to get to know you this past months, and…you've changed my life in that short time." he started, giving a sincere smile "would you want to be my partner?" he asked, fidgeting with his fingers as you stared at him.
oh, well, that question made you nauseous. "i-, i don’t think i want that, lucifer" ouch, that hurt his pride."I think it’s time for me to go, i’m sorry" you said in a quiet tone, standing up and leaving him there, and as much as you didn’t wanted to look back, you did, but the only thing you could see was lucifer in the same position as when you stood, this time though, he was hugging his knees staring at the view you both were looking at just a few minutes ago.

since his confession about his feelings towards you, he hasn’t been in the hotel, and the cast started to suspect that it has to do with the date you had with him. charlie was the most preoccupied, since she had been the one to encourage his dad to finally ask you out. she tried texting his dad to ask him about your response, but the king of hell just responded with a "it didn’t go as planned, but don’t worry about it, char-char."
after that text charlie obviously knew that his father was feeling bad about whatever happened that night, and would isolate himself from the others, so for her attempts to not let that happened she kind of tricked you into visiting him, she asked you about the date, and since you kind of lied to her by telling her that the date went as normal as a date should go, she then answered by saying something along the lines of "if that’s so, would you mind reminding him that he needs to come to the hotel?"
you could write lucifer a text message telling him to come to the hotel, but since you literally ran away that night, you forgot that your cellphone was laying somewhere near to where you both were sitting, so yeah, you did in fact lost it.

going to his mansion was a really weird feeling, what can you even say after rejecting someone? would he even open the door? as you were lost in your thoughts again, you heard the front door open, and as you made your way into his house it wasn’t really hard to find his bedroom.
as you knocked before opening the door, the first thing you noticed was how lucifer had his bedsheet covering him, it made you smile since you noticed how charlie did that too, so you could guess she got that from her father.
there was a silence as you both stared at eachother, until lucifer decided to interrupt the silence. "i-, i-i’m sorry about what happened, i think i might had misunderstood our relationship" he confessed, his messy hair and dark eye bags made you worried "it’s okay lucifer, and about that night..there is still something i haven’t told you about my answer" you declared, making him look at you with such hopeful eyes, oh hell, how can such a prideful fallen angel have so much faith in what you were going to say. "i said I didn’t want to take it further, since i still believe your heart belongs to lilith, and because of that i thought that rejecting you would be the best option." he opened his eyes at the mention of his past lover. "but, me and lilith haven’t been dating since seven years, (name) what me and her had is long gone" he reassured you, while signaling you to sit on his bed, the king bed who looked so comfy yet so empty. "lilith still is an important person in my heart, she has been with me since beginning of humanity and is the mother of my daughter, but the persons who’s my heart belongs now is you, my love" after hearing those words you could feel your eyes fill with tears, of course lilith was gonna be an important person in his life, but why would that stopped you from being in his heart as well, were you being selfish all this time? wanting to be the only person who’s important to him?
"and, this time i haven’t been at the hotel, i thought about why you said no, and i think i may have noticed something" he said, getting out of his bedsheets and caressing your face, you could feel your face burn at his touch, yeah, you really have missed him, "you were always staring at my wedding ring, weren’t you?" he asked looking at you with a glum face, yes, you do recall looking at his wedding ring while he looked at you with loving eyes, the ring that made you doubt so much about his feelings towards you, "i was a fool for wearing my ring while flirting with you, and if my ring has made you have those doubts about our relationship, you should know that i had decided to take it off" after hearing those words, you noticed that he was right, you haven’t noticed until now, you didn’t feel that cold ring against your face. "and if you still willing to try, i’m sure that soon enough i will be using a ring who will be showing who my heart really belongs to"
"that’s so cheesy" you answered chuckling, you tried to jokingly ignore the fact that he just said he would propose you, because if you took it serious you were sure that your face would be as red as the famous apple, actually, you were sure that if he offered you the 'fruit' you would have accepted, wait, were you even thinking about a fruit? but anyways your angel needed reassurance from you, that in fact, you liked his cheesy words. "yes, i still want to have you in my afterlife, lucifer" "well, if that’s my future’s wife/husband wish, then, who am i to object?" the fallen angel winked at you before starting to teasingly kiss your whole face, the moment he started doing this, you noticed something you didn’t thought you could, you felt like his first option, not just a rebound.
and yes , it will be a long journey until he really overcomes his past relationship with lilith, but since he's willing to do as much for you as you would do for him, you both will soon overcome your fears of past experiences.
