Brain Tumor - I need help

UPDATE (3/November/2023):

I haven't fully paid all my debts so I still have active my gofundme page in case anybody wants to help, I would really appreciate it.

Currently still doing more tests in order to see if there is any tumor residue, in case I need another treatment. Thank you for your support.

Hello! I know I don’t have many followers and I’m just another random tumblr user but if you guys could help me share this I would be forever grateful. English is not my first laungage so excuse me if I make any mistake.

On Monday, May 1, around 2 p.m. in the afternoon, I had an epileptic fit. They took me to the ER because the seizures wouldn't stop, then they transferred me to a second hospital where they did a CT scan, but nothing abnormal came out, so they transferred me back to the first hospital. I kept convulsing and I got to the point of being intubated, since I was having breathing difficulties. Until the next day, around 4 a.m., I was able to wake up and was discharged in the afternoon since I looked more stable.

After going to the neurologist and doing several more in-depth studies, they concluded that the epileptic seizures were due to the fact that I have a brain tumor in the upper frontal part. I still have time to extract it, however, the surgery is very expensive for me, approximately $11,760 dollars. That's why I need any help I can get.

I appreciate any contribution even if it is only sharing my cause or having read this far. Thank you so much. ❤️

Now you remember Season 2 Episode 3 when Mr Dalrymple asks Aziraphale and Crowley what's in the jar ?

Well we've all clearly seen how Aziraphale reacts upon learning that the boy is dead : bringing the jar to his chest, looking distraught, all of this emphasized by the music. Exactly what you would expect from an angel, a being of love, who finds it deeply unjust that a poor innocent boy had to die in such a horrible way.

Now after many rewatch of the series (not even counting anymore) I tend to focus less on the middle of the screen and look for other stuff in the background.

And what got me is this :

1 - Aziraphale instinctively looking at Crowley for comfort.

2 - Crowley's freaking hand reaching for more alcohol because he too cannot stand what he's hearing and he also needs a way to find comfort. He's disgusted and sad. No more jokes. Innocent children are dying.

And he can't stand that, we've known this for a long time, since the Ark.

Not. The. Children.

That's why he's not joking when he later says 'Too late.' to Aziraphale when the angel fails to save Wee Morag. If his angel wants to break the rules in order to save a dying child, he's not mocking him. He's supporting him. Not because Aziraphale is breaking the rules but because it's a sacrifice that could have grave consequences and he's willing to do it for what he thinks is a good cause.

That's why when Elspeth wants to kill herself, he drinks the fatal dose of laudanum and orders her to live. He cannot stand the idea of children dying so soon, their future being robbed from them.

Maybe it's because it's unnatural that parents live to bury their children, or maybe it's because Crowley's dreams were crushed so soon in his life and he just doesn't want to see it happening to others, because he knows how it feels to lose everything.

Hi! My name is Camaria, I am 18 years old, and a first-generation low-income freshman at Barnard College of Columbia University. Currently, I am in the process of planning for surgery in October for the removal of a benign jaw tumor, Ameloblastoma.

I became aware of this issue in December 2022 and have been going under treatment as it was a cyst. I spent nearly 5k of my savings paying for that treatment. However, in July, it was discovered that the cyst changed forms, becoming a solid tumor. This is forcing me to undergo serious surgical removal and reconstruction of my jaw. The tumor is eating up my teeth and bones as we speak, so I need this surgery as soon as possible.

I moved away from home a week after hearing the news: from New Orleans, LA to New York City. I am alone in college with little known family near me, planning for this surgery. Both of my parents have no money or savings to help pay for my surgery. My dad was laid off from his welding career due to bad eyesight from age. My mother is supporting my two younger siblings, ages 12 and 17, working as a server in a restaurant to make ends meet.

Bone implants are predicted to cost around 9-12k, and hospital bills are unknown. I also need to get prosthodontist work and dental implants as they are removing at least 7 teeth from my bottom row. Those will cost around 6k-8k, not including the $800 per dental implant. My insurance doesn’t cover any of the costs for my implants or prosthodontist work.

The surgeon has requested I pay 50% of the bone implant cost upfront, amounting to between 4.5k-6k before my surgery date of October 25th.

All donations will go towards the costs of helping me pay my bills. I can’t do this on my own and I’m pleading for help.

Short note on my behalf: The surgery of my mom yesterday went well. The tumor in her spine is removed, and although she has strong pain from the wound (despite the strong painkillers), she can already say that she still can move her legs and feet a little! Since it is the weekend, she'll get the results of the surgery itself and informations about the nature of the tumor only on monday. She isn't allowed to move and feels very weak, but all in all, these are good news, and we're all SO RELIEVED at the moment! When her first message arrived, it had been 8 hours since the beginning of the surgery! I was so anxious the whole time yesterday... And when her message arrived, I cried out of sheer relief. Now, it's time for patience and recovery. Everything will find its way now, and now, JUST NOW, 2024 can really start for me.

Thank y'all for your kind wishes and words and for thinking of us. I can not put into words how important it was for me. It still is. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🥹🫂🫂🫂🧡🧡🧡

A team of researchers at The University of Texas at Austin developed a novel algorithm, XVir, that combines deep learning methods and transformers to identify viral sequences from the genome of a tumor. It is a much faster and more compact method of analyzing genomes acquired from tumors and their possible causative oncogenic viruses. XVir identifies sequences of small segments of genetic material from the genomic sequencing reads. This approach exhibits high detection accuracy, demands less computational power, and outperforms previously developed deep learning algorithms for the same purpose.

Viruses are one of the most mysterious elements of biology. They are difficult to detect and avoid and are capable of causing widespread global pandemics, and developing vaccines against them is a tricky process. This is because they aren’t exactly alive or dead; they rely on the mechanism of their host for their ‘activation’ and survival and are, therefore, difficult to detect outside of their target host. Keeping in mind the several inconveniences they already bring to the table, imagine the danger they pose if they were to possess the capability of causing one of the most feared diseases of all time: cancer. Unfortunately, viruses of this type do, in fact, exist, and there’s a name for them: oncogenic viruses.

Some of the most widespread oncogenic viruses that have been studied extensively are the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), hepatitis B and C viruses (HBV and HCV), the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and the human papillomavirus (HPV). The exact mechanism of how viruses induce tumors is not understood clearly as of now, and the rapid evolution of the viral genome once incorporated into the genome of its host cell makes it difficult to link the genome sequences with the viral family it belongs to. Viral oncoproteins are believed to negatively impact regulatory mechanisms and ‘check points’ present in cells and promote uncontrolled cell division, inducing carcinogenesis.

Just heard that my stepsister’s operation has finally been confirmed for Wednesday. She’s got to have a hysterectomy, removal of tumours if possible, and investigation into how affected her bowels have been by the cancer, so it’s pretty invasive and serious.

If I’m absent, it’s because I’m stressed and making sure my family is doing ok. I will be able to write though, so it’ll be nice to focus on doing the sponsored stories.

My hips are hurting today. It's a dull ache across the lower part of my back. Where my arthritis is. Where my tumor is. Sciatica kept me up last night. My head was pounding when I pulled myself out of bed.

I brushed my hair. Lately I've been twisting it into a knot, clipped to the back of my head with a claw clip, the ends of my hair fanning above my head like a limp monochrome peacock. It hurt my shoulder to hold the brush up for so long. My arms burned. It hurt my neck, pulling back my head with each pass of the brush. The brush cuts through my tangles like butter with minimal resistance, but it hurts more than it did before my magic brush, when working through my many tangles would pull at my tender scalp.

My hair has always been pretty. When I was a child it was beautiful and thick, so so thick. It was soft and wavy and plush. Now it’s tired, and I keep it cut close to my shoulders so it’s easier to brush. I cut it myself, at home, once or twice a year. I used to cry when I got my haircut when I was little. Now I inflict it upon myself. Willingly.

Today was a good day. I fed my cat. I fed myself. I put away groceries. I sat at my computer today and worked.

I’m tired of having good days. I’m tired of having good days and bad days. I wish with all my being that I could go back to just having days. Just days, like everybody else. Like healthy people.

I need medical help ASAP

I have an aggressive tumor-like cyst (Odontogenic keratocyst) in my jaw that needs to be removed as soon as possible. I would use the money to help cover the medical expenses. The removal and recovery procedures will cost over 7,000 dollars.

Any bone that has made contact with the growth must be removed; I will already be losing 4 teeth because they came into contact with the cyst.

Likewise, I want to have this surgery in the next 6 months or, preferably, less so the growth has minimal time to expand (and potentially infect more jaw bone and teeth).

It's difficult to save money for the procedure because I'm only 20 and have been living alone since age 17. Any money I make goes towards living expenses.

I also don't have an extensive credit history due to my age, and likewise am ineligible for most loans. I've genuinely tried everything; e-begging is my last resort.

I don't know what else to do, and I'm so scared of what's to come if I can't save up money in a timely manner.
