The thing thats consistently bothered me the most in the fallout show is the racism. I would hesitate to recommend it because of that alone. And there was obvious love that the set and prop designers, actors, costume department, and even maybe the writers put into the show! There are themes and characters in fallout that i'm certain would resonate with fans of color!

It KILLS me that so many of the fallout entries are damn well unplayable/watchable in this regard because the writers simply Don't Care how the people in their work are presented. That this like hugely popular world with a lot of worldbuilding and thought behind it does such wrong to so many people, fans and otherwise, that you cannot find any game in the series that does it right or well. It alienates a lot of people who might've been fans just because the majority white creators and fanbase don't give a shit, and I'm sick of it.

it's not enough to say "in the fallout in my head that racism doesn't happen," you actually have to put some things into PRACTICE. Allow space in your head, your games/show, your fan spaces for people of color! notice and say something when you see racism coming from media, yourself, and others!

Now, I’m pretty sure at least one of the people seeing this post has used an ai filter on social media apps and whatnot because it was fun and easy. And its only gotten better with how technology has been able to produce pieces that could challenge famous painters of the past. And you can get it less than 50 bucks. 

But that’s the problem. 

The fact that ai is becoming a big thing in things like art may seem cool, but if you’re an artist, that’s a nightmare. 

I don’t do commissions, or have any shops or anything that lets me sell my art yet, but I know if I try now, I’m going to be fighting COMPANIES just to make a buck or two. And that’s beyond unfair. 

It doesn’t get any better when people are using art people have spent hours on - days even - and throwing it into an ai art generator thinking “Yeah, this is okay!” 

NEWS FLASH: IT’S NOT

That’s like taking away your ability to play sports or games or write stories and plays and whatnot and calling it “fair”, when in actuality its just creating a pit for people who enjoy doing that. 

You know how players can have their careers ended if something goes wrong? Its the same thing for artists, except the moment you give their art away for the sake of “instant gratification” you’ve ruined their lives. 

They can’t make art without being called out for “copying art” that belonged to them to begin with. They can’t do commissions, they can’t post their works, nothing. 

If companies wanted an artists for their benefits, then ASK THE DAMN ARTIST. Trust me, the artist community is happy to help people, so long as they get recognition that the art they make is THEIRS, NOT the company or for the world to use freely. 

I expect ai art generating companies to be in a courtroom soon, because this is ridiculous. 

Its laughable because it’s illegal to steal another person’s work and call it their own. And here we are letting robots and megacorporation’s get away with it and nobody says anything. 

Seriously, what the fuck’s going on? 

If anyone is using my art I need to know, because this is ridiculous and stupid. I didn’t spend ours and days on a piece only for it to get taken by an ai robot and used in a company I gave no consent to.

been seeing a lot of questionable takes on my dash lately, like “mitchum was right to tell rory she didn’t have it” and “rory writing a book about her life is stupid” and I’m just… stunned by them. not only are they flat out wrong, but both of them pointedly insult rory and her capability to perform as an adequate journalist and storyteller. we know rory has it because it’s established throughout the entire series—she does great at the franklin and even manages to put spins on what should be crap stories like the pavement piece; she also rises to the top at the YDN and becomes editor in chief. not only is she great when it comes to writing (which is drilled into the viewer and over—it’s an indisputable, canonical fact), but she’s also great under pressure and defying expectations. when she went to chilton the odds were against her—it was predicted that she wouldn’t be able to catch up and would flunk out. and what did she do instead? she became valedictorian and went on to attend an ivy league university. mitchum’s critique of rory is fucking laughable when you consider all of that, but it’s even more ridiculous when you factor in that he was barely around throughout her stint interning for him, and decided that she “didn’t have it” simply because she didn’t speak up during one meeting, even though doing so would usually be considered incredibly disrespectful. rory has amazing ideas and she’s fantastic at executing them, and we know she was a successful journalist until richard’s death, which is the only reason she was in a rut at all. therefore the idea that she “doesn’t have it” is, again, canonically incorrect.

as for the other thing, rory writing a book about her life is the opposite of stupid. to the people who agree with this: you do realize you just watched an entire show about her life and found it entertaining, right? it’s a memoir about her childhood, her relationship with her mother, and how being the daughter of a teen mother affected her. there’s absolutely a market for that sort of thing. not only that, but this is rory we’re talking about: she’s perfectly capable of translating the magic we see on screen onto the page. in fact, i think it’s kind of implied that the book will play out similarly to the show and have the same kind of vibe—it sucks you in and keeps you coming back for more. anyway, tl;dr, all the rory bashing and complete lack of faith in her ability to be a good journalist is pretty unfounded and unfair. i feel like it’s just another outlet that people are using to put her down, but it has no basis in fact (like most anti-rory takes).
