batman really just be saying shit. "killing the joker will make you the same as him"
like oh yes of course. you're definitely on par with a man who's killed thousands of innocents because you killed one person. bitch please. you're telling me bruce being a pussy enabler is why thousands of people die at the hands of one person? he should just go to therapy after killing the joker if it's that big of a deal. if you're gonna take on a role as serious and God-like as Batman/hero, you need to accept that you have to do immoral and messed up things. there's no reason to really make batman so strictly Moral if the supervillains he fights really show no shame in mass murdering and torturing innocents- innocents in a city that he swears is his and his to protect.
in a universe like dc where supervillains (+people who work with chemicals that aren't usable in the real world) exist and absolutely cannot be tied down in prison, killing is likely one of the only ways to keep cities safe. like sorry but batman has to kill the joker, a mass murderer, if he wants gotham to become a safer place. it's that or create an indestructible prison that no villains can escape from no matter what. which surprisingly hasn't been made yet, from what i know, despite all the amazing tech bruce has and can afford

DC X DP WRITING PROMPT:
Danny can hear the screams of the dead, the echoes of ghosts- shades of the dead- unpowered by ectoplasm. It’s his right as the High King of the Infinite Realms.
And during his weekly floats through his home planet to de-stress (no one ever attacks during these floats because a cranky and stressed Danny is a bad time for everyone involved), he comes across the Joker, torturing Tim Drake into becoming Joker Junior. More like he was lead there by the vortex of shades screaming at Joker to let the kid go and versions other threats or incoherent screams of pain and hatred.
He punts the clown into the sun (or in a ditch because Gotham is not known for her love of the thing called “sunlight”) and gathers up a sobbing Tim (JJ) who’s cackling through his tears like the laugh is being torn out of him, and flies away. Danny figures out his own personal ectoplasm shots help the insanity because Tim’s died before (and got brought back) via electro therapy shocks. Danny sees so much of himself in Tim and the potential for both immense good and immense evil and realizing they’re both choosing to seclude themselves to not harm others (Tim locks himself in his room to stop throwing things at Danny when he slips into insanity- which, it doesn’t actually affect Danny because he can turn intangible). Danny realizes that it’s not healthy and it doesn’t make anyone happy, so he works with himself and Tim to heal. Basically, Tim and Danny finds family in each other and heals while Batman, Nightwing, and Alfred loses their shit searching for Tim (“YOU LET JOKER KILL ANOTHER ONE OF MY BROTHERS, B!) (I WON’T LET YOU SHOULDER THE WEIGHT OF KILLING SOMEONE.) (I WOULD SHOULDER ANYTHING IF IT MEANT KEEPING TIM SAFE FROM THE JOKER!!!) (I can’t lose another son, Alfred) (I know, master Bruce. I know.)
Anyways, they find themselves back and Jason’s like hey I’m gonna kill the next Robin- oh wait Joker’s dead huh how’d that happen and then he’s like wtf do you mean “joker junior” wtf wtf wtf
Aunt Harley gets some of her own therapy and tracks Danny down to apologize to Tim, but stays away just in case she triggers an attack. She’s a villain, she’s done some horrible things and felt no guilt for it, but Tim was a line she thought she’d never cross and it kills her

Jason Todd x Reader
"I let you down"
When the Joker sent the tapes to Batman, you were forbidden to see them, and your heart shattered seeing him buried 6 feet under.
Tumblr media
You and Jason have known each other for a good while. You were already under Batman's wing, known as Red Hawk. When you met Jason when Bruce adopted him, you two instantly clicked and were best friends ever since. And soon enough, a sense of love blossomed between the two of you.
After that, you pulled out of the crime fighting gig, knowing you weren't at your best when your love was taken from you.
A few years later, you still haven't moved on. Everything reminded you of Jason Todd.
Soon, word went around that a new anti-hero was running around gotham killing criminals. He was later identified as Red Hood.
It was then heard that Red Hood was out for Batman. You knew you couldn't go back to being a hero, but you called Dick and he assured you that they have the situation handled.
A month later, you get a call from Alfred, telling you to come to the manor quickly. You tried to decline, but Alfred said it was important, and you knew that if Alfred says it's important, then it's serious.
When you arrived, Alfred told you to meet Brice and Dick at Jason's grave. Your eyes widen, and your eyebrows furrow. Why would they need you at Jason's grave?
You rushed over, and from the distance, you can see the silhouette of Bruce and Dick standing over the freshly dug ground, staring into the hole that Jason was buried in.
You looked at them in confusion but then glanced down at jason's tomb. The casket was open.
And it was empty.
Your breath sped up, and it became uneven. You felt like you were to pass out.
"Where is he?" You whispered, not to anyone in particular. Then you turned to Bruce and Dick who still stared at the empty casket.
"BRUCE, WHERE IS HE??" You screamed, making for throat itch.
You were back at the manor in Jason's old room. It still smelled like him. You were on his bed, clutching his pillow.
"Where are you, Jason?" You cried to yourself.
You went back to your home, instructed by Bruce, with Dick staying in contact with you, updating you on their search for Jason's body.
Your phone rang.
You quickly picked it up, seeing Dick's name on the ID caller.
"He's alive," was all you processed when Dick called you. The only other thing you processed was "And he is Red Hood."
You hung up, pacing around your apartment, chewing on your lip.
Jason's Red Hood? Your Jason? And he's out for Batman?
You thought you needed a while to process. But you kept yourself locked in your room for two months. Only coming out to use the toilet and when Dick forced you out of bed to eat.
What you didn't know that soon enough, Red Hood hadn't made up with his adopted father, but they're now on a bumpy road towards reconciliation.
Jason told Dick not to tell you that they've somewhat made up. He wanted to talk to you himself. In person.
You went into your room after treating yourself to a glass of water.
You lost all senses when you saw Red Hood standing in your bedroom, staring at polaroid pictures of you two on the wall.
When he heard you come in, he turned, looked at the ground, and slowly took off his helmet.
"Hi, doll," he said. He mentally slapped himself for it, thinking he could've said something more sensitive.
You didn't say anything. You couldn't say anything. What the hell were you supposed to say?
Jason took a breath.
"I'm sorry," he said lowly.
You didn't show it, but you were confused. Why was he apologising? What was he sorry for?
"I- I wanted to come back to you. I really did. But I did things. Horrible - unforgivable things that I can't take back. I know you stand by Bruce's morals. But- But after I came from the dead and heard Joker was still alive, I- I was so angry. I was angry at him, I was angry at Bruce. I was angry at Batman. I m'm not excusing my actions. But I knew if you found out, you'd- you'd hate me. Never look at me again and only see a monster every time you think of me. I'll get better! I pro- I promise, doll. I'm not asking you to forgive me I just-"
He couldn't finish what he was saying once you burst into a sob. You dug your palms into your eyes to stop yourself from crying, but to no avail.
Seeing you cry broke his heart, and he knew he hurt you so bad. He didn't know what to do. He took a steo forward, wanting to hold you.
Did you even want to hold him? Did you even want to hold such a monster? So he stopped himself from hugging you.
He took another deep breath.
"My sweet Y/N, I- I'm so sorr-" He was interrupted once more when you threw yourself at him, arms circling around his waist.
Jason was shocked. You were hugging him? Hugging an ugly monster who became something you'd hate?.
"I missed you so much- I- I thought I'd lost you forever," you cried into his chest.
Jason slowly wrapped his arms around you, gently placing his lips at the crown of your head.
"I missed you too, sweetheart"
"I'm sorry," you whimpered.
Jason's face scrunched up and pushed you off him, bending down to make eye contact with you.
"Why the hell would you be sorry?"
You furiously wiped away any tears left from your eyes.
"I-" You choked on another sob.
"You what, sweetheart?" He asked, pushing strands of hair away from your face.
"I- I let you down," you sniffled.
Jason's eyes widened and his grip on your shoulders tightened.
"No- no, no. Why would you think you let me down? I- I'm the one who let you down! I went on a killing spree, I wanted to kill Batman!"
"I couldn't save you! If- Maybe if I had gone with Bruce to find you I could've-"
It was Jason's turn to interrupt you as he pulled you back into a tight embrace.
"You didn't let me down, doll. You could never let me down. I was going to die either way," his whispers muffled as he leaned his lips against your head as you cried.
It was true. Whether you went with Batman or not to look for Jason, the Joker still would've had him killed. Or had the both of you killed.
But he's here now. And he's making an effort to get better. That's all that matters to you.
"I love you so much," you say, your voice muffled against his chest plated armour.
"I love you too, darling," he replied.
You both stood in each other's embrace for a good while before you broke the comforting silence.
"You copied me," you said quietly.
Jason's eyebrows furrowed.
"What?"
You lifted your head, looking at him.
"I'm supposed to be Red, you stole my name," you smiled, eyes remaining bloodshot from tears.
Jason couldn't p but break into a smile at your comment as he placed a lingering kiss on your forhead.
"Red reminded me of you," he said.
You copied his smile as you both leaned into a starved, loving kiss, happy to be reunited.

Titans Tower AU Jaytim.
Jason takes off his helmet to reveal his identity and Tim is completely ecstatic at this. Jason is a confused for a moment but carries on with his whole "I want revenge because Bruce replaced me and didn't kill the Joker" at which point Tim exclaims that he'd be happy to kill the Joker for Jason. In fact, Tim starts apologizing for not doing it sooner and explains that the only reason he hadn't personally killed the Joker already was because he didn't think that was what Jason had wanted.
Jason is confused for a number of reasons, top of the list being the idea that he wouldn't want the Joker dead after he beat him with a crowbar and blew him up. Tim's reasoning was that Jason had been very anti-murder when he was alive, to the point that he was incredibly upset when Bruce accused him of killing Garzonis, which is why Tim allowed the Joker to continue living locked up in Arkham.
At some point during his explanation Tim had to grabbed Jason's hand and dragged him along to his room in the tower, where he pushed Jason to sit on the bed and handed him a small stack of folders. As Jason started flipping through them Tim explained that they were his different plans for killing off the Joker, which ranged from a subtle poisoning that would easily be a mistaken for an illness and couldn't be connected back to anyone, all the way up to grabbing the Joker and filming his execution, with steps and plans for how to keep Bruce from finding out until after Joker was dead.
After Tim finishes explaining everything, he is just smiling giddy at Jason, completely ecstatic that he's back. Jason is kind of in shock that this beautiful, brave, and apparently morally gray boy had made all of these plans which he only avoided putting into action because he thought Jason wouldn't like it. This is the point where Jason realizes he has to wife this kid immediately (stopping only to kill the Joker). In fact Jason mindlessly launches himself at the Tim, crushing him in his arms and kissing daylights out of him. He drags Tim to the bed and proceeds to kiss and hold and fuck as gently and thoroughly as he can. Tim Of course is completely into it and gushing about how good Jason feels, and how much he loves him, and he comes so so hard when Jason moans about how perfect Tim is, how he's going to marry Tim, and just how many kids he plans to fuck into Tim's womb.
Sometime later, after they kill the Joker, Bruce is very conflicted about the whole situation. On the one hand he's mad that the Joker is dead (only because of his no killing rule), but he's ecstatic that Jason is alive and back. He eventually decides that he can let the Joker / murder thing go after Jason explains how he's going to marry and impregnate Tim, which Bruce is very happy about: not only will that mean that Tim will be an official part of the family, but that also means grandkids! All in all, a great outcome for everyone. (The wedding is beautiful, and Dick bawls the whole time)
jason immediatly wifing and knocking tim up for defending his honor!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Rebooting/tweaking the Shattered AU!
So the Joker kidnap's Tim and tries to twist the young man into a reflection of himself. For half month Tim endures constant torture while being jacked up on Joker Toxin. It's unlike anything Tim has experienced, he's in agony and wants it to stop, but at the same time, he would rather die than let the Joker know anything.
And thus JJ is born. JJ can handle pain, in fact he finds it absolutely hilarious! He plays along with Joker, takes on his mannerisms and lethality, but in reality, JJ HATES the Joker. With every single, tiny, microscopic, fiber of his being.
So when the Joker finally presents JJ to a horrified Batfamily, he is completely unprepared for JJ’s frenzied lunge for him instead. Laughing manically, JJ manages to tear out one of Joker's eyes and stab him several times in the chest, before Dick and Jason can pull him off. Batman manages to stabilize Joker, saving his life, but JJ is not happy.
"I'm already broken Batsy!" JJ screams as he jerks against his brothers' hold on him against the ground. "Just let me KILL HIM! LET.ME.KILL.HIM!"
JJ/Tim know they are fucked up for life. There is no going back from this, so they feel they are expendable. Batman can never go against his code and JJ/Tim accept this, so to keep Bruce's hands clean, JJ will will dirty his hands instead.
So after this, every time Joker escapes Arkham, Tim has to be literally locked away. If they don't, JJ will escape and try to kill the Joker. Kon comes in with a solution and offers to take Tim with him to the Kent farm until the affair is over. With both the distances and Kon's TK, he's able to help Tim keep JJ under control. ((It also helps that Tim adores Kon and would never hurt him, thus JJ would never hurt Kon.))
Tim is in control most of the time, but JJ tends to come out when things get too intense, or life threatening. JJ is a big part of Tim's survival instinct, without him, Tim would just give up and die. So when Tim is faced with extreme pain, JJ will take over and end the situation as quickly as possible.
JJ likes Batman and the rest of the Batfamily but he also loves creeping them out. He’s a bit vindicated and brutally honest, but he will also do ANYTHING to save his family and friends, although it will be violent and horrifying.
((Tim takes on the new hero persona of Shrike. More experienced villans like, Two-Face and Penguin, handle Tim more cautiously now. They know how dangerous and unpredictable Joker can be, so pissing off a mini version of him is not good idea.))
((Two-face actually develops a fascination with Shrike, seeing how the other is also suffering from split personality disorder, but unlike him, Shrike seems to be in balance. Meanwhile Ra's Al Ghoul is planning for a way to twist Tim/JJ even, smooth the edges so to speak, take the insanity out, but keep the deadly edge in.))

The whole time you had been crying, begging that your baby was okay, you were still covered in her blood. You didn't bother to clean yourself, all you cared about was your daughter. When the doctors came to tell you both the news, you has absolutely lose it. You begged and screamed that they must be another thing that they could of done but no, Gabriella had died.
During the funeral, the whole time you had been hovering over the little casket, crying and begging that she'd come back. It hurt your husband seen you in this state, he hated seen you in such pain and distress. That night you didn't sleep in yours and Miguel's bedroom, you slept in your daughter's room, wishing and hoping that this was only a bad room and that your Gabriella would be in bed with you, but the next morning, she wasn't there, she was really gone.
For the last couple weeks not everything went back to normal, that night something had died inside of you, no longer did you smile or were happy ever. You were basically in your own world, forgetting that your husband was still in the picture, you loved him, you really did, but it was hard to look at him sometimes, every time you looked at your husband, you saw your little Gabriella, she looked a lot like her father. It hurt.
You went about your day, you woke up early or sometimes you didn't sleep at all. You did chores and everything that needed to get done in the house, then you'd do and hide in your daughter's room. You didn't do nothing in the room, but just lay in bed while hugging her soccer jersey, her scent was still on her clothes, it made you cry, you must have looked pathetic, but you didn't care.
This worried Miguel, you were getting worse instead of better, he knew that people mourned differently, but this was getting out of hand. He noticed a lot of unhealthy changes in you, he needed to help you. For a while he himself had also isolated himself, but now you needed him. That night he decided to talk to you, about taking you to go talk to a therapist, but you refused, you told him that you were fine and didn't need help, this lead to an argument. You both had began screaming at each other. Miguel had warned you that if you didn't go willing to the therapist, then he'll put you in a psych ward by force, when you heard those words, you got scared and basically ran out the door, scared that he might lock you up and claim you as crazy. He didn't mean for this to happen, he only wanted to help.
Miguel had thought you went for a walk for some fresh air, but those minutes became to hours, then those long hours turned into days. He had filed a missing person report to the police. While the police did their part, so did Miguel. He did everything in his power as Spider-Man to find you, but nothing, you had basically disappeared from thin air. He did not stop, no matter how long it would take, he was going to find you.
Tumblr media
Years passed. Miguel has not found you yet, it killed him. He didn't know if you were alright, with good people, or if you were even alive. He remembers your screams, those same screamed haunted him at night. That night of the murder haunted him. Every time he closes his eyes, he sees you, holding the dying body of yours and his daughter, begging for her to keep her eye open. He remembers when you both rushed to the hospital screaming for help, when the doctors and nurses came to your help, you begged them to let go with them, in case your daughter needed her mama. he hopped that you were alive and well.
That wasn't the only thing he was worried about, some vigilante by the name of Venom had appeared. She was terrorizing the city and killing criminals from the streets, leaving some disturbing stuff that he felt disgusted to even mention behind to warn other criminals. He tried so hard to figure out who it was, but it was impossible, he had no clue on who could it possibly had been. Some people may find her acts heroic, but what she was doing was wrong, he was a vigilante himself, but he had limits. Someone needed to stop her before she does worse things.
Miguel was out on patrol, looking for any kind of danger or if anyone needed some help from Spider-Man, he was about to call it a night, but he hard screaming coming from an ally. So he decided to go check it out. The screaming got louder, he must have got closer, then he heard this kind of snarl and a demonic yet feminine voice. "Scums like you shouldn't be alive! You all should die!" she hiss at the man, who was pressed up against the wall, with her tight grip on his neck.
"Let him go Venom!" Miguel yelled towards the female, then the disguised woman looked at him, making her growl and gripping harder on the man's neck. "Why should you care to what happened to this low life! Him and every other criminal deserves to die!" she hissed towards the Spider-Man, she was about to snap the guy's neck. But Miguel had launched himself towards her, causing her to drop the guy, in which he ran away as fast as possible.
Then they both began to fight, they threw punches, kicks and threw each other around the ally. This went on for hours. "Just quit Venom!" Miguel yelled towards the woman, who was ready to throw another punch at him. "No! I will never stop! Until every criminal on the street is dead! They have to pay for what they had done!" she hissed, throwing herself back at Miguel, hitting him square n the jaw. Causing Miguel to hiss and get a hold of her wrist at in attempt to get her to stop.
"You think by killing them things will get better?!" he asked, while trying to restrain her but he couldn't, she manage to get away from him. "Yes, they took the most precious thing to me" she said, stopping her movements. "In this very ally, they killed my daughter!" she hissed, he could tell that she was in pain. He also couldn't help but notice the ally was the same exact ally where the murder of his daughter happened. But when the woman said the thing about her daughter, was what made Miguel freeze in his tracks.
"My daughter was shot here, and died in the hospital... they never found the guy that did it.." she said in tears. Miguel could see the tears streaming down her white wide eyes. "My daughter was my everything, she was the light of my life, but now she is gone.. and it's because of people like those scums that I do what I do.. so that no other mother had to go through what I did.." she admitted. No, it couldn't possibly be her. "I will do everything in my power to get every criminal off the street, even if that means killing them" she said.
The woman then brushed off her tears. "I'll have to kill you too, since you tend to get in my way!" she hissed as she lounged at him. This time Miguel had a trick up his sleeve. As soon as the woman got close to him, he manage to get a hold of her shoulder, then with his free hand, he got a needle shot which contained the venom from his fangs and injected the serum in her neck. Causing her to go weak. "What did you.." she wasn't able to finish her sentence. She then slumped forward towards him, losing conciseness.
Miguel then got a hold of the unconscious woman, he noticed how the black ink like skin of her began to disappear from her body. Revealing that she was naked underneath her 'suit'. Sadly he didn't have anything to cover her body, instead he used his big arms to hide her body. Then the black ink had dissolved off her face, revealing to be his one and only wife. The woman that he had been searching for, you looked so peaceful with your eyes closed as if you were sleeping. He sighed as he held your body close to him, pulling you into a tight embrace and tears forming in his eyes, glad that he had found you.

DPXDC soulmate prompt au:
Everyone has a soulmate. Even if the way you meet your soulmate is different, you can still feel a click in place. Even with different species, romantically or platonically, and multiple soulmates. ( like one person has by sight, and their soulmate is by touch. Basically, you can have soulmates with the same markings or two different types and still work)
So, Danny, after becoming Phantom and dealing with the ghosts, finally finds a way to shut down the Portal around his last year of high school, and multiple people aren't happy about that, i.e. his parents, the ghosts, Sam, the GIW, and even Vlad as he was banking on the fentons for his shit to work, and he had plans surrounding Danny's family.
He gets run out of town by Amity and his parents after they uncover his secret. Danny then spends the next few years in space, discovering aliens.
(During his disappearance, the GIW are disbanded, Vlad doesn't have access to the zone anymore and asking for him to search in space is a permadeath sentence for him, his parents regret their Gung ho attitude and miss him. In a twist of faith, an accident kills them off, and they are working through their regrets in the zone, waiting to see Danny so they can pass)
Now, as I mentioned at the top, this is a soulmate au, so in Death, Danny is able to get a feel for soulmate, like if his soulmate had a marking for him to recognize even if his soulmate identifier is lock on sight. (He essentially has an advantage of figuring out his significant other as he has his soulmate symbol on him.)
So, whose Danny significant other? Look no further than Gotham depressed himbo dad, Bruce Wayne, whose soulmate identifier is a tattoo of Danny's mark.
This could be pretty early on in his hero career or after Duke is a part of the Bats, but basically, Bruce goes on a space mission with the league and in one of their stints to get info, Danny immediately recognizes Batman's mark which was his soulmate clue. So, Danny, who hasn't spoken human or been on earth in years, has zero in on him,but they don't get to talk before Bruce heads back to earth, but Bruce knows there is something off about the possible alien man.
On Bruce's side, he hasn't seen anyone that has made it work, except if if you want to make it a polycule with Superman. (Dick has his redhead squad or the titans, Jason ends up with Roy or someone else, Tim has Bernard and Kon, and Damian is starting to platonically be friends with Jon. Cass has found her soulmate in Stephanie.
(The Joker is a weird case where he has a soulmate that isn't born yet or died already, or he has no one and that why he is crazy and scars the Bat symbol on him as he sees his enemy with no soulmate either.)
Anyway, something big happens on earth, like an invasion, and the Bat is almost killed before a bright light descends upon the sky and removes the threat. Batman, once recovering his sight, sees the same masked alien man from before. Once they regroup, the masked man removes his helmet, and Bruce finally gets his soulmate connection. Danny has aged significantly since his first departure of earth and attempting to relearn earth's customs and figure out what happened with his family and friends.
( Jazz is soulmates with Talia and is in a secret relationship with her after Damian is made.
Sam is soulmates with Paulina but despises this, which causes her some mental instability, and refuses to acknowledge their bond, somehow still banking on Danny being her knight, and rebrands herself as Pamela Isley or Poison Ivy and finds love in Harley.
Tucker actually renames himself after Amity as Silas Stone and has a child. He works with Alien Tech to see if he can find his best friend again.
Dani is only made after Danny's return to earth but loves her indefinitely as he feels that the Portal had robbed him of a good life with offspring.
And Dan is working on his aggression in the zone.)

What you mean by" willis todds love for jason is the reason bruce failed him" ?
Sorry ive seen your post and I agree with everything but this just kinda suprise me, not hating, just curiuos
HELLO! so this is a take that is based on pre-new 52 todds, before they were simplified to the one dimensional (and classist) personalities they're known for now. neither of them were shown to be abusive or willfully negligent, but rather found themselves in bad situations out of their control and died, leaving jason to fend for himself.
in the most simplest way what i mean is willis todds self sacrificing actions of turning to crime in order to provide for jason and catherine is the key defining part of jasons life and why he views bruce's love for him as 'not enough'.
(of course, the actual proof of this is like. one single panel and its not even said by jason. however i think it is something that can be found in jasons character through other, less obvious situations.)
in jasons initial (public) return to gotham and that long and convoluted plan to mess around with batman psychology to get the two of them and the joker in the same place, it all seems like a well planned out revenge story until the final conversation:
Tumblr media
Batman: Under the Red Hood
it always stood out to me, not just because of how absolutely heart wrenching the entire moment is (definitely read utrh if you haven't, at least once), but because it really gives you an insight into what love and loving someone means to jason.
to him it's an all encompassing responsibility. this idea that love is something that you need to be able to prove by the quantitive value of what you'll sacrifice for it. in this case, jason is saying i love you" in the way he truly believes gets across how much he means it; i would kill the person who hurt you.
whenever i read this part of utrh, another situation immediately pops into my mind. and that's when jason found out two-face had killed willis todd.
Tumblr media
Batman #411
upon finding out two-face had killed willis, jason goes on a brief grief filled rampage, swearing he'll kill him for what he did. it's important to note that up until now, jason had assumed willis was still in prison, only to find out he was actually murdered.
again, it's this idea that love is the extremes you'll go to for family. jason was well aware of willis' less than legal means to make money, and even bruce makes a mention of it in.
Tumblr media
Batman: A death in the family
i imagine, like a lot of what fuels jason to fight crime now, guilt is a major deciding factor in a lot of his choices. it's this guilt that he feels upon hearing about willis' death that makes him take it out on two-face. it's even guilt that plays a huge factor even in new 52 stories (such as Cheer).
so when he returns to gotham, or even before that, just hearing about what bruce had done following his death (locking the joker up instead of killing him, taking in tim as his robin) were, to him, clear evidence that he did not love jason in any way that mattered. that bruce did not love jason as much as jason loved him.
because loving him means giving up your morals. loving him means sacrificing your health and your time and your safety.
but bruce didn't do any of that in a way jason could see.
i imagine to someone like jason, who lost every parental figure in some capacity, whether it be to illness or crime or something else entirely, the evident disregard for him was as painful as any rejection could have been.
a lot of how jason feels and acts can be seen in much more interesting ways if we all look at him for he is; an unreliable narrator. he is missing huge chunks of story, especially when it comes to bruce, and has no choice but to act irrationally on the little truth he does know.
of course we the readers, and some other characters, know just how hard jasons death was for bruce. how destructively he mourned for his son.
but again, the surface level proof of it is not enough for jason, who's entire life has been love through sacrifice. but now, it's a sacrifice bruce can not ever give him.

Genre : Drama Angst Angry Issue Jealousy
Summary : Bruce having Investigation The Joker but it's turned into something else because..
Word count : 3.4k
Bruce walked inside, his adrenaline still pumping through his veins, as he saw the Joker in the interrogation room behind bars, surrounded by Gordon and his teammates
The Joker looked disheveled and angry, his face scarred and twisted from the events of the past night and Gordon shot him a look of satisfaction, and Bruce couldn't help but smile at the sight
It was a bittersweet moment, but one that he knew was necessary and had been long overdue
"So the bat is here" - the joker explained mockingly trying to play fool
"The one and only" - His Batman voice answered back proudly, his shoulders back and chest up, his hands folded together.
The Joker had mocked him several times in the past, but this time, he was the one under lock and key, unable to escape
The table had turned..
The Joker mocked and taunted him, but he didn't care. Bruce was here to do a job and get it done quickly and effectively but Bruce's mind was focused and his goal clear and it's was investigate the clown and bring him to justice
Without the presence of Gordon and the other officers, the room was suddenly much quieter and more intimate as Bruce and the Joker were now alone, faced with only each other’s gaze
The Joker was restrained behind bars, his expression angry and defiant, as usual but Bruce sat across from him, his face emotionless, his eyes searching and observing every detail
"Wanna play a game baty?" - the joker asked him as still trying to get into his skin
"I am not here to play your games" - Bruce replied calmly, his eyes scanning the Joker for clues as his mind worked quickly
He knew this game too well, the Joker's attempts to provoke him and throw him off balance But he was immune to such tricks, his emotions in control, his will to investigate strong and unwavering
He would not be distracted by the Joker's mocking or threats. instead, he kept his stare unblinking and his attention focused on the clown in front of him.
"Let's talk seriously? And we will be honest You always asking yourself why I'm around you like a Nightmare" - The joker explained mockingly as licking his lips by his tongue - "Even when you actually a stranger to me i killed your parents and Yes i don't have a reason more then I'm madness"
"But you didn't ask yourself why I'm still around you even after i killed your parents?" The joker finished softly but honestly
"Don't play mind games with me." - Bruce replied simply, as his eyes remained steady, refusing to be swayed by the Joker's attempts to distort his focus
He knew the Joker was just trying to get under his skin, to throw him off and make him lose his composure and Bruce remained unperturbed, staring directly back at the clown's eyes with a level of resolve and determination
"You're obsessed with me," - Bruce said flatly, his voice unwavering as he continued to stare at the clown
He was unconcerned with the Joker's mocking tone, and focused only on making eye contact and observing his every gesture and expression
"All your attacks, all your crimes have been a plea for attention from me," - Bruce continued his voice calm and steady
"Yes I'm obsessed" - The joker confessed honestly? - "But actually not with you"
Bruce was surprised by the Joker's honesty and seriousness He had always assumed the clown was playing a game with him, twisting the truth and feeding him lies to manipulate him
But this time, the Joker was genuinely being honest, which caught him off guard
"Then with who?" - Bruce asked quickly, curious where the Joker was going with this
The clown was never easy to read or predict, but something about the way he said this was making him think
If the Joker wasn't obsessed with him, then what was he truly obsessed with?
"I'm obsessed with someone I tried to take from a long time" - The joker continue - "but you come and ruin everything"
Bruce was starting to find this conversation much more interesting The Joker was being unusually serious and honest, sharing things he wouldn't normally reveal so openly
"Who are you obsessed with?" - Bruce asked, feeling intrigued by the clown's cryptic explanation
He was curious to get a glimpse of whatever had been driving the Joker's madness and chaos
The Joker was usually guarded and mysterious, so seeing this unexpected side of him was intriguing
"Someone you couldn't live without" - The joker whispered softly and coldly
"Someone you will die for" the joker added softly as looking at him trying to study his expression under the mask
Bruce felt his heart skip a beat when the Joker revealed the hint
"Someone you would die for" and "Someone you couldn't live without", those words hit him like a punch to his heart
It was clear to him who the Joker was talking about, and the revelation made his mind scramble and The last thing he expected was the Joker to reveal he was obsessed with someone Bruce deeply cared about
"Don't you see where my eyes on?" - the joker asked him calmly and seriously
The Joker's words sent chills down Bruce's spine as He understood why the Joker had been targeting him personally, and why the Joker had been focusing his efforts on causing chaos and damage wherever he could
The clown had one singular focus, one all-encompassing obsession, and Bruce knew it had nothing to do with him personally
Instead, he realized the Joker was truly focused on one person that was most important to Bruce
“I know exactly who you mean,” - Bruce finally replied quietly, his voice full of shock and concern
It's was you..
Bruce felt his chest constrict as he realized who the Joker was referring to
You, his faithful sidekick in the war against crime, his girlfriend and future wife
"You're obsessed with her," - Bruce said, his voice barely above a whisper, his heart racing and his stomach filled with dread
The Joker smirked and nodded in acknowledgment, confirming that he was indeed obsessed with You
Bruce watched as the clown's expressions shifted through a spectrum of smugness, amusement, and arrogance, before settling on a twisted delight
The Joker seemed to take a twisted pleasure in Bruce's reaction, in the realization that he, too, was helpless when it came to the one thing that mattered most to him
Bruce's mind was spinning with thoughts and emotions as he grappled with the truth of the situation
"Your precious girl, your partner in crime fighting, your love, your everything, your future wife. I want her, and she will be mine." - the joker explained honestly and firmly
The Joker's words pushed Bruce over the edge, his pent-up fury boiling over, and he suddenly sprang into action
He grabbed the Joker tightly and held him with all his strength, a look of passion and jealousy in his eyes as he saw red
But the Joker didn't even flinch. He just laughed, his eyes filled with amusement as he watched Bruce's emotions run rampant
James Gordon and his team watched from the glass window, growing increasingly nervous and concerned as they saw Bruce's emotional reaction
Bruce's anger and fury overwhelmed him, and he unleashed a whirlwind of words as he shouted furiously at the Joker
"Don't dare you" - he began, his voice shaky and quivering with fury, - "I will not let you take her, she is mine! She will always be mine!"
The Joker just laughed at his outrage and intensity, seeming thoroughly entertained by the sight of Bruce's rage he was really enjoying this so much
"What if I Touched her?" - The joker asked him teasingly but actually he was playing on his soft spot
Bruce's heart skipped a beat at the thought of the Joker touching you He knew in his heart that the Joker was taunting him, trying to provoke an emotional reaction
But the thought that he could ever touch you, even out of revenge, sent a wave of pure, unadulterated rage through Bruce's body
It was enough to push him over the edge that he barely had control over and Bruce was always the calm and rational one, but that rule was being tested now
"You might as well have signed a death wish if you even think about it." - Bruce shouted aggressively, his expression darkening with rage
He could barely control himself, his anger growing with each word as The Joker's twisted smile only seemed to grow wider as he saw the extent to which he had driven Bruce.
"Touching her, hurting her, or even thinking about her in a bad scenario, you will be facing the darkest days of your life." - Bruce continued, his voice getting colder and angrier
"Oh please listen" - The joker begged gently - "I was meaning making her mine not hurting"
Bruce suddenly stopped and realized that the Joker's words hadn't been about harming you but about making you his own
The thought of the Joker taking you away from him, using you as his twisted plaything, was even worse than if he had threatened to hurt you and Bruce couldn't let that happen, he couldn't allow the Joker to take you from him
He stepped closer, his grip on the clown tightening, his fury growing
"That's so worse" - he whispered coldly and angrily
"Why?" - The joker asked him calmly acting like a fool again as licking his lips by his tongue
But suddenly Bruce had enough and punched the joker making James Gordon and his teammates shocked from everything started turning into something else
James Gordon tried to get inside the room but Bruce put a chair against the door making it so hard to open the door
The Joker didn't even flinch at the punch, seeming to find the sudden burst of rage hilarious He was enjoying himself, savoring Bruce's rage and watching his opponent lose control
But the Joker knew Bruce was getting dangerously close to the edge, and he finally decided to act
“Enough” - he screaming angrily and firmly, as he effortlessly moved the chair aside, blocking the door open like nothing
“She may be yours, but you sure as hell cannot control her like a possession” - the Joker mocked him
The Joker's words cut deep
Bruce couldn't deny that you was your own person, with your own desires and choices. And if you desired the Joker in more ways than one, there wasn't much he could do about it
"But she wouldn't" - he said defensively, wanting to deny the possibility
"She wouldn't fall for someone like you, someone twisted and manipulative," - Bruce continued hastily, wanting to defend you and his faith in you
The Joker's words pierced straight to Bruce's heart
It was his deepest fear, and he had never allowed himself to express it or even admit it
But in that moment, the Joker could see the fear beneath the surface, the insecurity that Bruce had kept buried inside
"What if she will stop loving you? What will you do then?" - The Joker mocked him, enjoying the sight of seeing him doubt himself and his trust in you
Bruce had never expected the Joker to attack him where he was most vulnerable: his relationship with you
And now, the joker had successfully sowed a small seed of doubt into Bruce's mind and exposed an underlying insecurity he had been suppressing
James Gordon and his teammates knew just how deep this struck Bruce because they knew him so well
They were aware of his fear of losing you, and now, the joker had exploited it ruthlessly
Because they know the soul of Bruce..
Bruces' anger was boiling over in a sudden surge, a flurry of emotions and thoughts running rampant through his head
His heart broke when he considered the possibility of losing you, of someone else having you...and the Joker saw just how deep it cut him
Anger filled every inch of his being, so intense that it threatened to rip him apart from the inside out as This rage was so powerful that it almost overwhelmed Bruce, sending him into a state of rage and hate that was pure animalistic
"Shut up" - Bruce shouted angrily making the joker eyes widen
Bruce's rage was unstoppable
His screams angrily, his voice growing muffled and distorted through the mask, filled with pure rage This wasn't the calm and composed Bruce Wayne that was accustomed to facing off against the joker
This was primal, primitive fury that was almost out of his control
The joker was pushing him further and further, feeding him anger with each word of twisted mockery, pushing him further and further into his rage
"You won't take her from me," - he shouted, his voice cracking with emotion and rage
And suddenly The joker took blow after blow as Bruce let out his fury on his opponent, his fists flying wildly and mercilessly
Bruce didn't care about the consequences, he didn't care about getting hurt
His only concern was getting to the joker. He was filled with such a blind rage that he was driven to a state of animalistic aggression where nothing could stop him
He threw punch after punch, each hit fueled by immense anger, raw emotion, and the desperate desire to protect you
James Gordon and his teammates watched with bated breath, wanting to step in but not knowing if it would be a good idea right now
James Gordon and his team kept a close eye on the clock, knowing that it was almost time for you to arrive at the station
James knew they could not just stand by and let the situation escalate, but at the same time, they did not want to disrupt a dangerous confrontation
As the minutes passed, the tension in the room grew, and everyone was filled with an overwhelming sense of anxiety
No one knew what was going to happen, but the Joker was clearly enjoying the drama he had created and seemed eager to see how things played out
And suddenly you opened the door..
You entered because Bruce had asked you before to come but you never thought when you enter you will just seeing him trying to kill the joker like a beast
"Bat what are you doing" - You shouted as running to him trying to stop everything happening right now
Bruce heard your voice, causing him to freeze in his tracks as he felt your embrace, which stopped him from his intense assault on the joker
The joker watched with interest and amusement as Bruce finally stopped his fury and was finally pulled by your love
The Joker knew that this moment was important for the future of all three of them: Bruce, You, and himself
Bruce was still consumed with rage but he finally froze when he felt the warmth from her embrace
"Baby you shouldn't stopping me" - Bruce whispered softly but sadly
"Please calm down" - you explained calmly as rubbing his arms - "remember your rule about not killing any criminals no matter what"
"This bastard deserves to die" - Bruce shouted angrily as his rage overrode any logical thoughts, any self-control
It's made The joker just kept on grinning, amused by the display of rage and jealousy that was so rare coming from Bruce
The clown saw the struggle that was taking place between you and Bruce, between logic and emotion, between reason and his heart
"Oh, I'm sure he'll be just fine" - the Joker mocked in response to your words, taunting Bruce even more
"Please tell me what happened" - you asked him calmly and worriedly about him
"This bastard tried to take you from me" - Bruce replied to you harshly, still caught up in his rage and jealousy
The joker's grin remained in place, mocking, taunting, enjoying the tension and struggle between the both of you But he had also succeeded in sewing doubt and insecurity into Bruce's mind, pushing right to the breaking point
It's clear that your presence had only added to the problem, causing Bruce's rage to boil even further because he doesn't want you now to be here and let the joker eyes get you
"Listen" - You whispered as cupped his masked face - "you know him..he doesn't love anyone"
Bruce wanted to believe you and actually he needed to believe you
The truth was that he was afraid that the joker might have been right, that you might leave him for the Joker and The idea of losing you made him feel like he couldn't breathe
The way you was holding his face, looking into his eyes, you was bringing him back from the edge.
But the doubts were still there, the seeds of insecurity planted by the joker and now taking root in his mind
"Bruce he killed your parents don't you think he can kill you too by few lies" - you whispered as looking into his eyes
He listened to your words, his heart still racing but now calming somewhat
You made a good point about the joker being just and evil and a killer, able to kill with a few simple words But the fear and doubt had still taken hold in his mind
What if you is falling under the Jokers spell What if the joker is twisting the truth?
The possibility of losing you terrified Bruce so much
"But what if you" - he whispered softly trying to continue talking but you cut him off
"No" - you cut him calmly as put your finger on his lips- "Before meeting you i didn't choose the joker because i don't want him"
"Same thing after being with you Bruce I'm not just your girlfriend or your future wife" - you continue - "I'm your sidekick and i will never choose villain or someone killed your parents"
Bruce's face softened at your loving words He knew you was right, no matter what the joker had thrown at him, you still chose him.
You still stood by his side, never wavering
His fears might have been planted in his head, but his heart had not wavered. You was his and he was yours in every way
You was his love, his soulmate, and his everything you never failed to fill his heart with pure joy and love
Finally Bruce had let go of the intense rage that had consumed him
He hugged you back tightly, enjoying your touch and feeling your warmth against his body.
There was no more doubt, no more fear, and no more jealousy It was just the two of you finally reunited in peace, love, and trust
The joker was surprised by this sudden shift in mood He had expected Bruce to stay in his rage and continue attacking him
But the Joker's plans were thwarted and his scheme failed because you came in the perfect time
"What the fuck" - the joker asked the both of you mockingly but angrily - "come on get mad again'
"Shut Up clown" - Bruce replied calmly but with a coldness that seemed to radiate off of him
The joker smiled at him in amusement He could see that he had pushed the right buttons in the past, but his time of tormenting the Bat was over
Bruce was done with the madness, the anger, the jealousy, and the manipulation. And he wasn't going back to that place
"I have realized something" - Bruce replied firmly in a surprisingly calm tone - "you can lie and manipulate, but my heart can not be fooled.
The Joker was taken aback by his calmness and confidence, a sharp contrast to his explosive rage just moments before
"You can try to mess with my mind as much as you want, but it won't work" - Bruce continued, his voice still firm but without the rage that only moments earlier had defined him
"With all my regards" - you explained politely as smiling cutely showing your white teeth
And then you just kicked the joker off on his face it's made Bruce was taken aback but couldn't help but smile at your sudden attack
The joker had always been able to provoke Bruce into a rage, with one comment here and a smirk there, but you as his girlfriend had just turned the tables
Your kick had been so sudden and unexpected that it caught the Joker off-guard as The joker stumbled backwards as her kick hit, and he cursed aloud in frustration and anger
Yes you was too kind and beautiful to made everyone falling in love with you and Bruce was the one who loved you more then anything or anyone else
Everyone can fall in love with you but Bruce own you because even good people like him love you
And even bad people like the joker can too but the joker type was..

I know a lot of people want to see Harvey Dent’s origin in the future movies and maybe even Harley Quinn being “friends” or unwilling acquaintances with Battinson, and I really want those too because they’re such good characters…but I was thinking…what if it already happened?
Batman started out about 5 years prior, when he was 24/25, and I’m sure a lot has happened since then. He’s definitely got a rogues gallery gathering, and canonically a handful of that gallery is personal friends of Bruce Wayne. There’s a lot of potential angst in those ones, ESPECIALLY Harvey Dent, and it makes me wonder if that’s one reason why Battinson is so dark?
What if Bruce started out much more hopeful, even if he was pretty jaded by his parents’ death, but he had the clear intention to deliver justice by locking away the bad guys without killing anyone? He knows there are good people out there to help. His friend. DA Harvey Dent, is fighting for a Justice system free of corruption. And his friend from med school, Harleen Quinn, is working in Arkham to rehabilitate criminals who suffer from poor mental health.
But then Harvey Dent is targeted by thugs during a court trial. He meets a terrible fate at the hands of Sal Maroni that permanently scars him, physically and mentally, until he starts killing. Then Harleen is kidnapped by the Joker and stockholmed into being an accomplice to countless killing sprees. Rather than helping her patients, Harleen’s methods of rehabilitation are used against her and others.
Bruce watches for years as the people he trusts to protect the same Justice as him are swept away into the jaws of corruption and ill fate, to not fault of their own, but it’s devastating, and he’s cracking under pressure.
Bruce becomes less about Justice and more about vengeance against the criminals that did this to his friends. He beats criminals even harder to teach them a lesson. He cares less about the letter of the law because Gotham never helped its victims anyway. He stops caring about Wayne Enterprises as much because what’s the point if everyone fighting the good fight only gets locked up anyway?
He asks himself why he’s still upholding his moral code, why he doesn’t kill. And Harvey and Quinn comes to mind over and over again. How does he know the criminals he’s fighting aren’t also just victims too? He’s not the judge in this system. He can’t kill. Not when he knows from personal experience that everyone, victim and criminal, has someone who loves them and wants to see them get better.
Death isn’t the right option, and The Batman will never act as prosecutor, Bruce makes sure of that. But if he ever sees Sal Maroni or the Joker, he’s damn well going to let his punches fly.

Broken Prism
Chapter 4
Fandom: Red Hood
Pairing: Jason Toddxfemale!Reader
Warnings: none
Summary: Jason reflects on his return to the city and you come face to face with Batman
Tumblr media
After returning to Gotham six months ago Jason started to relearn the ebbs and flows of the city right away, like he hadn’t been gone for almost seven years. He started by patrolling the same routes he and Batman once had, seeing what Batman and his replacement were up to. He followed their path, seeing how it changed or stayed the same. He was trying to assess their patterns and maybe get an inkling to what happened when he died. He could remember a decent amount about his past, prior to the pit and the league. Five years of spending nights trying to stay awake, avoiding nightmares of cold steel and screeching, gave a person a lot of time thinking and thinking led to remembering. The only thing he couldn’t fully put together in his mind was how he had actually died. He figured it had something to do with Batman, why else would he dream about a bat attacking him so much? He wasn’t a psychiatrist, but he figured it wasn’t that hard to put those pieces together. However, after following the Batman and his new protégé for a few weeks nothing sparked except more memories of patrols just like they were doing. Taking out bad guys, helping innocents, the usual good vigilante stuff. He noticed Batman still didn’t kill and it sickened him. He had studied more than his fair share of villains in his time with the league and if any of those ‘people’ deserved to die it was the ones living in Gotham. After he had learned all that he could he had turned to part two of his return scheme. Money, territory, power.
While following Batman and new Robin he had noticed that they didn’t pay too much attention to the lower-level criminals like drug dealers. Honestly, between Penguin, Mr. Fries, Two-Face and the rest when would they have time? So he had gotten to work. A couple hours of beheading lieutenants and meeting with the bosses he had a whole little crew of dealers, 40 percent of their sales, and no one dealing to kids anymore. If they did it was a bullet between the eyes, no questions asked. A few challenged him, not paying up or still dealing around the schools. They were soon found by GCPD, a bullet in the brain and maybe some extra cuts and bruises for when Jason felt extra annoyed. The cash the dealers gave him supplied him well enough to establish some safehouses, get extra gear, and make sure that enough cops were paid to stay away from him business.
Once this was finished Jason decided to check out Arkham, see who was actually locked up and who was just rumored to be in the asylum. He stalked the halls, quiet like Batman taught him to be, using shadows and the old architecture to his advantage. He found Two-Face, Calendar Man, Clayface, Hush, all locked up. He was heading down a part of the old wing when he first heard the laugh, or was it sobbing, or maybe screaming? It sounded like a horrible medley of all three. As soon as it hit his ears he froze, encased in shadow and in the past. That laugh, a crowbar, a bomb. The Joker. Jason’s heart raced, the read out on his helmet said that it was getting too high, he needed to calm down or risk a panic attack, a heart attack, death by laughter. He started breathing too fast through his nose, hyperventilating. His eyes flashed around, frantic. He needed to leave, get out of this place as fast as he could.
He wasn’t 100 percent sure how he had escaped unseen but he didn’t stop running until he was knee deep in the river, the realization that his pants were wet making him snap out of his trance. Joker had killed him. Hours of torture, bones broken, scars that the pit psychically healed but would never heal in his soul, then a bomb, the fire and the light to end everything. Why was it that Jason had died but that motherfucker was still alive? Batman had to have known who had killed him. Who had taken him from this earth and put him inside of it. Why hadn’t he killed him? Did Jason really matter so little that Batman had just wandered off, letting Joker keep his breath and just replacing him with a newer model Robin? Jason saw green, snarling like an animal. He stomped back to where he had left his bike and headed into East End. If there was anyone who deserved a few bullets, maybe some broken skulls, they would be there. Jason needed to kill and to think. Now, months later and still no where less pissed off about Batman’s ridiculous no kill rule Jason watched his former mentor stalking the city, looking for something. Probably that woman who had showed up at his house and stolen his car. His soulmate. Jason still couldn’t believe that he had a soulmate, and she still must be his since his world was still colorful. He could see the bright neon signs, all pinks and oranges and greens, see the attempts the city made of parks and flowers and landscaping in lush yellows and blues. And he saw how the red of his helmet gleaned when he walked by a window, too bad not everyone got to see these things. He couldn’t remember the world in black and white and gray, that seemed like a lifetime ago. He supposed it was. Jason still had his mission on his mind, taking down the Batman, killing Joker, all of that, but her eyes had distracted him momentarily. He wanted to know what Batman was going to do to her, wanted to make sure she was safe from the lies that Bruce Wayne tells those he thinks he can manipulate and use. She wasn’t going to be a pawn for his bullshit.
Jason perched on a fire escape overlooking a back alley. He could see her window across the street, she was in the apartment, probably her bedroom, at a desk typing. The rain was blurring her face a little, but he could still see that she was focused, and he wished he knew on what. He wished he knew her thoughts, her likes, dislikes, he wanted to know her favorite color now that she could see them. And he wanted to know her name above everything else. He knew he could go figure it out, use the records database and find her name based on her address, but he wanted to hear her tell him it, hear her voice say her name, say his name. He could see why Batman had thought he had been too young for a soulmate. This drive to be around her was becoming all consuming and Jason couldn’t tell if it was because she was just his soulmate or if it was because a soulmate meant that he still had a soul, something in him might still be worth saving to someone. If she had known him, would she have killed Joker? Did she mourn him when her world had gone back to black and white? Had she been confused to see the color return? So many questions and he was too scared to get his answers. He heard the familiar sound of quiet settle around him, Batman was lurking. He looked around, keeping himself silent as he used his helmets readout to track the vigilante on the roof of her building. He scaled down the side of it, effortlessly opening the window to what was probably the living room, disengaging the alarm that was there. He knocked on her bedroom door, making her get up and answer, clearly confused and worried, she pulled out a switchblade from her pocket before opening the bedroom door. Jason turned on his enhanced hearing device to listen into the conversation.
“What the fuck?” you said, hearing someone knock at your bedroom door. You had roommates but they were out of Gotham for the weekend, escaping the dreary city in search of sunshine that lasted more than five minutes a day. No one should be in your apartment, let alone knocking at your bedroom door. You took out the blade you carried, flipping it open, ready to start stabbing, opening the door quickly, throwing your weight against the intruder, knife pressing and…breaking. You frowned, feeling the stone muscle of armor, shoving uselessly against it. The blade of your knife had broken and gone flying off onto your bed. You looked up and swallowed. Batman, well fuck, he must be mad you stole his car.
“YN YLN?” Batman said, voice graveled, but you could hear the lilt of Bruce Wayne’s fancy rich tone underneath. You stepped back, breathing deep as you calmed down. He probably wouldn’t kill you, wasn’t that his rule?
“Bruce Waynes?” you mocked back, mimicking his deep bass. You thought you saw the uptick of his lips into a smirk, but it was gone fast enough that you could have imagined it. “I left your car in a nice part of town, I’m sure it's already back in your garage.”
“I’m not here about a car,” he said. You weren’t entirely surprised. “Can we talk for a minute?” At least he was polite after the breaking and entering. You motioned to the living room, wanting to get his hulking mass out of your safe space. He went back to the living room, standing in the middle. It wasn’t a big room either, but it was enough for you and your two friends. You felt strange sitting down as he stood so you got up again, busying yourself by tidying up. It didn’t need a lot of picking up, you were clean by nature, keeping mostly everything in place, but you needed to do something with your hands.
“So what do you want?” you asked, putting away a book before going to the small kitchen area to do the few dishes in the sink.
“Why did you ask about Robin?” he asked. You looked at him. “Who are you?”
“You replaced him, you replaced my soulmate,” you said. You knew he had fancy gadgets to see if people were lying so you figured why bother? Not like him knowing this truth would matter. Robin may have been alive out there but despite your best efforts you hadn’t been able to find anything about him, just that Joker had killed him in some other country almost seven years ago. You were able to see a subtle sign of surprise on Batman’s face, his lips thinning out at the revelation.
“I didn’t replace him,” he said, but it sounded lame, an excuse. “There were others who needed my help and I need help for them.” You felt white hot anger course through you.
“You replaced him because you were too weak to save him! You couldn’t even kill his murderer, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why isn’t Joker cut up into pieces and decaying at the bottom of some endless pit somewhere?” you demanded, throwing a glass at him. He deflected it and it shattered into pieces. “Where is that Robin now?” You assumed Batman must know about the return of his former partner. The silence stretched out.
“J-…”
“Don’t say his name, I don’t want to hear his name from anyone but him,” you said, holding up a hand. The silence went on again.
“That Robin is dead, you said it yourself,” Batman replied, clearly confused. You froze.
“You don’t know,” you said. He had no idea that Robin was back, somewhere in the world, he was alive. You had assumed he would return to Gotham, find Batman and join back up in the cause, or maybe get some type of revenge. But nothing, nothing except for that new guy, the one no one could figure out. The one they called Red Hood. The one who had fled at the sight of you. Your brain was whirring and you were worried Batman would hear the gears turning. “Get out.” You left no room for argument, and it appeared he wasn’t exactly sure what to say to you next, so he left the way he came in. You fixed the alarm and closed the window, cleaning up the broken glass and going back to your room. You needed to figure out how to contact the Red Hood. Either he knew about Robin or…or he was Robin.

You Deserve To Be Happy
Jason Todd X Reader
Warnings: heavy angst, injury, blood, crying, suggestive content.
Words:1429
Arthur's notes: Good mom Talia.
Damian tries to convince Jason that he needs and deserves to be reunited with Y/N. All while he tells Y/N a secret he's been keeping from her.
Tumblr media
Damian only sees glass shards, he reaches out to the sky helplessly, never feeling quite a fear such as this. He hoped somehow someone would catch him. He thought he was strong enough to face Ra's alone...
Just as he feels that it would be his end. A arm catches him. The young man holds the injured Robin landing onto a roof top. He didn't have time to personally strangle Ra's for trying to kill his baby brother.
Damian is gently placed on the ground. He gasps seeing the face of his dear brother. It couldn't be him, he hadn't seen him in many months. He must be hallucinating.. Damian feels his eyes shaking as he had spent many days fearing his brother would never return.
Jason didn't say a word as he gently bandages his wounds from the glass shards. Jason tapped the emergency button on his utility belt. He moved to touch Damian's forehead to attempt to calm him down. His hand stopped hearing the bat-mobile. Damian gripped his wrist with what very little strength he had. Knowing well his brothers instincts were to flee.
Jason looks seeing his desperate pleading eyes for to him to stay with him. It broke him to leave him again. As much as he wanted to be there for him. He couldn't.. He can't. So much of his pain lingered and he could hardly even bear to think of seeing Bruce again.
"I'm sorry"
"NO!! NO!!" he begged now crying missing his brother
Jason shakes his head loosening Damian's grip on his wrist lowering it carefully on Damian's chest. He leaves Damian before their father arrives.
Bruce was grateful he was alone so no one would see the tears now falling down his face. All he knew was that Ra's had been in Gotham and now judging the fact his son needs help, he knew he had a altercation with Damian.
"shh it's ok you're safe now" he promised his crying son
Bruce used the spy-contacts inspecting Damian. He noticed the bandaging. Who helped him? Anyone amongst those of whom he trusted would not leave his side, unless they wished not to be seen.
Bruce lifts Damian into his arms he didn't know his son was searching with what only strength he had for the fallen Robin.
Jason heavily breathes in and then out. He was sitting on a cold concrete floor. His eyes glow bright green and flash back to their natural color. He was scared...
He still had so much built up rage. Though Bruce is Damian's father and.. He was his father at one point. He had tried to convince himself that forcing Bruce to kill Joker would prove to him that he cared enough for him to avenge his death.. When that didn't work, he disappeared... He came back to Gotham when he caught wind that Ra's was looking for Damian.
"I know you believe because your father spared Joker's life that your own life meant nothing to him. I almost killed Joker myself but.. it would only be more blood and it wouldn't have brought you back. Losing you nearly killed him. He continues to suffer every day" Talia had said to him.
Talia left for a mission requested by her father and never returned.... Jason didn't think twice taking Damian with him. Damian met his father but Jason was long gone.
Jason tried to face Y/N but his heart became blanketed in fear. Would she even believe that it was, really him? He was scared somehow he'd hurt her again. She was the first person he remembered and the one who he would think about in his darkest moments.
....
Y/N walks into her kitchen for a late night snack she turned on the lights and yelps by the small person standing near her
"Damian! Must you startle me like that" she exclaimed.
"tt you need better locks.."
"yeah I do" she agreed annoyed "is there a reason why you've decided to sneak into my apartment unannounced?"
".. I have been keeping a secret from you.." he admitted partly because he did not know how to properly tell her everything.
"ok. Do you want some tea? We can make cookies? Then we can talk about whatever it is you want to tell me"
With their tea freshly made in their cups. Damian helps Y/N by stirring the batter. His eyes gaze to the fridge with pictures of Jason with her. He looked.. Happy. He could only remember him smiling a few times during his childhood...
Damian remembered looking through Jason's drawings as a young child. Most of them were of Y/N.. Damian had recognized her to be the person in his drawings. The first moment he met her.
He wanted to tell her about Jason just as he did his family but he knew Jason had made him promise not to. Though his loneliness was going on for far too long.
"Jason was your boyfriend?"
Her heart physically drops at the mention of his name. She cleared her throat taking a, sip of her tea.
"he uhu yeah" she bitterly smiled "he was a really great guy. He was my first boyfriend and probably my last, he was a lot like you. Loved Jane Austen, after he stole the book from me" she chuckled with a saddening smile
"Pride and Prejudice?"
She swallowed hardly her grief trying to force itself, in like a knife to her back "how.. How do you know?"
"he told me.."
Utter denial, and shock "Damian are you?..." she began to cry, her body shakes.
Damian nodded. He's alive. She began to lose her breath unable to calm down. He helps her sit on the chair, taking her tea from her hands and placed it onto the table. She knew Damian could be rude at times, but he would never lie to her. He really is alive.
"deep breaths" he said patting her back.
She listened to what he told her. She began taking deep breaths in and out repeatedly, eventually calming down enough to speak.
She holds his arms with her hands "H-how? His body.." she stuttered unable to allow the painful memory to unfold "where is he? Is he ok?"
Damian explained everything to her ending with "you may hate me if you wish for not telling you sooner"
"no! No! I could never hate you. It's ok" her lips tremble as she began to cry again "oh Jason" she cried
She covered her face in her hands as she sobs. Damian laid his head on her shoulder to comfort her.
....
Jason began stepping down the ladder into the underground bomb shelter to Gotham PD his current hideout.
"here to take my book, Twerp?" Jason asked his baby brother
Damian was infuriated Jason could always know when he was there just like Talia. He could never sneak up on either of them.
Jason turns the lights on seeing Damian standing a few feet away from him.
"I told Y/N"
Jason's heart beats rapidly "you did what?!"
"you are wrong not to tell her you're alive" Damian accused
"dammit kid. This is none of your business!" he snapped taking off his jacket.
"tt you are miserable which makes it my business!" Damian scoffed
"I'm fine" Jason lied bitter
"she misses you.. She wants to see you Jason.. She has not healed from losing you.. She wants to be with you and I will not stand by to allow you to give up"
He was right. The kid was right.
....
Jason rings the door bell holding flowers in his hand. She opens the door. She grips the door handle tightly bracing herself against the side of the door. So she wouldn't fall from her knees becoming weak.
Y/N knew he was alive but to see him.. To actually see his blue eyes that she had only been able to see in her brokenhearted memories.
"I couldn't remember what fl-fl--" he cleared his throat becoming emotional "flowers you like until I remembered.. I remembered us at the.. The fair and you.." his eyes start to shake
She wraps her arms around him letting herself break, but the best thing was that it was in his arms. She feels she can finally breathe.
Jason takes a deep breath as he began to cry. He had spent so many times thinking about this moment and fearing the worst. Though it was worth it. She was worth it..
The new couple knew Damian was so going to take credit for this...

A Shade Darker than Red
The other post was getting a little long, so here's Part 4. Previous Parts
Jazz slowly and methodically reset her room to how it usually was. She’s tired, and her hands are shaking more than she would like, but she has to do this. Her roommates couldn’t know that she was doing amateur ghost psychology out of their apartment. Fortunately Danny had been able to contain Jason’s emotional outbursts and accidental ecto blasts so she wouldn’t lose her deposit, though she would have to buy a new lamp from the one blast Danny hadn’t been able to stop.
The two boys were now gone. Danny had mentioned he and Jason would be training their ghostly abilities, then once Jason was up to stuff they could get some “Mortal world catharsis.” She didn’t want to know, but she knew that even if it wasn’t the best coping mechanism, Jason could certainly do to blow off some steam.
Jazz transferred the encrypted short-hand notes to a notebook that was locked to her ecto-signature. Then she burned the original so there was no risk of her notes getting out. When she was done reviewing her notes her hands were shaking even more and she had to go into her bathroom and run through her breathing exercises. Her stomach twisted and rebelled, sharp bile rising in her throat as she struggled to keep her food down.
She knew that therapy could be an emotionally exhausting career. She wanted to work at Arkham and the trauma the inmates went through was such an important part of their story that she would have to hear to help them work through. Eventually she was sure she would get better at hearing about the horrible things her patients had gone through or done.
It was even worse for the ghosts. At least for her human patients most of them would have survived the awful things that happened to them. That was not the case for ghosts or even half ghosts like Danny. Her brother could describe to her in excruciating detail exactly what it felt like to be electrocuted to death. He had even told her once what it felt like to be electrocuted while the ectoplasm of the portal was putting him back together at the same time. She had thrown up after hearing that.
Now she swallowed down the bile, practiced her breathing and called for food to be delivered so she wouldn’t have to cook. Anything she could do to keep calm.
Jason remembered his first death. He didn’t seem to remember that he had been Robin, even though she and Danny had recognized the costume. He remembered getting beaten to the brink of death by the Joker before the madman’s bomb pushed him over the edge. She had a guess what catharsis they would seek once Jason was feeling better.
He had fuzzy memories of coming back. Danny had theories about that and about the pools filled with corrupted ectoplasm. He, at her insistence, kept his theories for a time outside of Jason’s therapy session. Again, she imagined that Danny would investigate the pools later and deal with them personally.
She sighed to herself at the end of the day. She had eaten her take out from her favorite Chinese restaurant, she painted her emotions out in a chaotic and dark piece that she would probably have to burn and she had taken a long bath. She was as relaxed as she could be, yet a single swirling thought continued to hound her from Jason’s session.
Jason couldn’t remember who or what killed him the second time. However there was a very distinctively shaped hole in his memories. A figure who should have appeared in any story about a Robin, yet was missing from all of them. A figure who should not have appeared during the death of that Robin, yet was present there as a towering dark figure and a weight of betrayal.
It was just a theory, she couldn’t even voice it. Jason had a repressed memory that he would have to uncover on his own. If she told him she was certain the information could shatter the poor ghost. If she told Danny, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself. Every ghostly instinct in his body was demanding he go and pay back whoever had killed Jason. She guessed that he was already plotting how to get into Arkham once Jason was back in fighting shape, she couldn’t give him another target based on just a theory.
Her theory that kept flying around her head even as she tried to relax to fall asleep, so dark and painful for Jason, that she couldn’t even risk writing down in her own private journals. Batman had killed Jason. Batman had killed Robin. That news would shatter the superhero community, and it might take Jason with it.
.
Barbara was sick with dread. She needed to confirm, but more than that she needed to get the rest of the bats safe. If Bruce had… she couldn’t even think about it yet. She pinged the location of everyone else in the city to make sure they were safe. At this time of day most of them were in their homes or in school.
The first thing she did was scramble the GPS feeds for everyone. Bruce would notice if the data disappeared and even she was certain that she could keep Bruce from finding them again, but with the useless noise it would be like they were scattered all over the city, anywhere but where they actually were.
Next she had to collect the various bats from around the city to go over their findings. She arranged for Dick to pick up Damian from school and sent a location for a rendezvous to the phones of most of the family. They would slowly trickle in over the next couple of hours to the safe house.
On her list next was Observation and Extraction. Several GPS markers were showing up in and underneath Wayne Manor. Barbara couldn’t help the trepidation she felt seeing that. Everyone in that house was in danger right now. She opened up a secure line to Cassandra’s phone. Cass answered the call with her face cam on so Barbara could see her signs and didn’t have to rely on her tapping out morse code over the phone. Cass looked at her curiously, but seriously.
“Black Bat. I need you to confirm who is in the manor right now and what their condition is.” Barbara said with her Oracle voice filter on.
Cass’s name signs for the other members rattled off quickly.
“Bruce; Alfred: Talking. Duke: Sleeping. Sick. Tim: Computer. Cave.”
Barbara nodded, that information confirmed by her tracking software.
“You are now on a stealth mission. Objective: observe target without being seen. Report on your assessment of their body language. Extract VIPs. Reconvene at rendezvous location. Understood?”
Some of the others would use their “Mission Voice” for things like pranks or family black mail, but Barbara always kept her work life separate, unwilling to risk someone not reacting appropriately to a warning or an order. So Cass knew this was as serious as an investigation into the Joker. She nodded, then signed again.
“Target?”
“Bruce.” Cass’s eyes widened marginally but she nodded again.
“VIPs?”
“Tim and Duke. Extraction is the highest priority.”
Cass nodded again and pulled her black hoodie up over her head. She put in her ear piece and slipped the phone, camera facing out, into her front pocket. Barbara would be able to see whatever Cass saw as well as her sign language so they could communicate.
Barbara could only watch as Cass snuck into the manor. Black Bat was their single best stealth operative and she knew the manor better than anyone other than maybe Alfred. It was in theory a safe and easy operation. But if she was correct… best not to think about it right now. She needed to focus on what Cass was seeing.
It was only a few minutes before the camera focused on Bruce and Alfred speaking at the bottom of the staircase. Cass was on the top looking down on them, practically invisible in the shadows there. The camera didn’t have high enough fidelity for her to hear what they were saying, or for her to read her lips, but she didn’t have to when Cass could.
“Speaking. About Jason.” There was a slight hesitation in Cass’s sign of her brother’s name. “Alfred: Worried. Afraid: for Jason.”
“And Bruce?” Barbara knew Alfred was worried about Jason. He was always the first to worry if one of the bats didn’t come home or check in regularly, though he didn’t usually show it so openly.
“Bruce: Not worried. Knows: Jason’s Location. How? Knows How?”
“That’s the question Black Bat. Move to extraction. We’ll discuss at the rendezvous.”
Cass signed a yes with her hand then moved silently away. Barbara watched, still on tender hooks as Cass crept to Duke’s room. She opened his door and crept to his bedside. Duke woke with a hand covering his mouth and a Cass with a finger to her lips in his face. Probably one of the more adrenaline inducing ways to wake up, but at least it got him up and focused quickly. She signed to him quickly then stepped back so he could get up. She turned her back as he dressed, keeping her eye on the door. When she turned back, Duke had a backpack thrown over his shoulder and jacket that would blend well in the shadows or on the Gotham streets. She was certain, given the paranoia of the bats, that the pack was a go-bag that Duke had prepared in case he needed to run for his life.
The two of them continued to sneak through the house, aided by Duke’s umbra kinesis as he pulled the shadows around them. Barbara followed their markers through the house, looping cameras and muting sensors as they went, undoing her work so there was no trace after they passed. Even her skills would be able to be discovered eventually, but she just hoped that her actions would be enough to get them out of the manor.
Duke led Cass into Bruce’s office, which was fortunately still unoccupied and the two of them descended into the Batcave together. Barbara could see Tim at the Batcomputer looking over the same data she had been pouring over before Damian had texted her. Cass ordered Tim to get ready to leave, but he stubbornly insisted he was still good to focus on his work.
Gods above, Barbara was going to beat a good sleep schedule into that stubborn idiot one of these days. Cass apparently had the same thought and dealt a rapid fire punch to a pressure point. Not enough to render him unconscious, but enough to get him to wake up and focus on what she was signing. It only took a brief explanation from there for him to also grab a go-bag and then give a solid yank to the cables at the back of the Batcomputer. It would take hours for someone familiar with the system to get it back in working order after that, someone unfamiliar might never figure it out.
She sighed with relief as the trio finally excited the Batcave. Bruce was just now realizing that something was wrong. She didn’t know how long it would take for him to figure out the others were out of the cave, but she did everything she could to buy them all time. She scrambled codes, fried camera feeds, and filled the tracking data with meaningless noise.
Then she sent a final message to the phones of the family other than Bruce.
“ABC”
In any other family it could be considered a mistype or a key smash. It was simple code for when the priority was getting the message across.
“Avoid BatCave”

Gotham Isekaied Reader
I have an idea. It's nothing new. I wrote nearly 5 pages of this idea, but I'm too scared to post it since it's filler and I even drew a cover. So I will ramble about this idea through headcanon. Some Jerome x Reader, I’m sorry. I can’t help myself. CW: One mention of suicide.
y/n wakes up to find that her life has gotten a major upgrade. Any flaws that her family has is erased. Did mom drink away stress? Now she doesn’t even touch alcohol. Dad isn’t smoking away his life. Her older brother is a law-abiding citizen who is studying to become a lawyer. Her younger brother is more positive about life and growing up in a home that they wished they had.
Not to mention that they’re rich. She no longer lives in a bad neighborhood and sleeps in a snazzy mansion.
Life is looking up until y/n turns on the TV with a news story about a man killing corrupt people with weather balloons.
She sits there thinking, ‘This was nice, but I should be getting back home.’
Maybe y/n’s close friends with Bruce beforehand. That’s when she realizes that she has to learn about the other y/n’s life. She can’t risk telling anyone about “we’re in a shitty TV show” without everyone considering throwing her into a mental institution. Tough luck because she ends up in Arkham regardless.
She writes down plotlines that she remembers. Making files on the character that she has met. Her files are hidden away in her room and aren't brought up later down the line when a certain person finds them.
How y/n ends up in Arkham is complicated. I want y/n to be completely sane through our POV, so she’s not going to be “I’m so insane and quirky”. Maybe she’s framed or killed someone in self-defense. Well, okay, I have thought out what gets her thrown into Arkham, but I don’t think anyone would find it interesting.
During her trial, the prosecutor will use her history of depression and suicide attempts to paint her as a homicidal. The whole trial is fishy, yet ends with her being locked up.
Bruce believes y/n when she says she hasn't done anything and promises to get her out of there. Legally of course.
Alfred probably tries to keep Bruce from visiting because Arkham has a reputation and doesn’t want him to be anywhere near there. The poor boy is going through too much in a short amount of time.
So Bruce will send Selina to deliver anything. Or they both run away to visit y/n. When they come back to the manor and Alfred is questioning them, they both lie by saying that they’re somewhere else.
Bruce just wants to make sure his bestie is alright. Selina is just along for the ride but might visit y/n even when she doesn’t need to.
While in Arkham y/n is vibing in her little corner when Jerome starts bugging her. Might tell him about some plotlines just to see if anyone would believe her.
Jerome just laughs it off and starts orbiting y/n because she’s interesting. She tends to ramble and mumble to herself, for some reason he finds it so cute.
“You’re kind of funny, but I wouldn’t call you a joker.” She says before thinking, ‘Because legally you aren’t him. Thanks a lot, higher-ups.’
He writes about her in his diary and uses any stickers that she gives him. ‘Yeah, she's weird. Calling people characters and saying that we aren’t real, but she’s my little weirdo. I also got another pack of Hello Kitty stickers from her.’ Then he proceeds to doodle her with crayons.
When Theo Galavan surprise adopts them, Jerome starts taking y/n’s words more seriously. Still doesn’t believe her when she says he and everyone aren’t real. Like how is that possible? He feels real, oh whatever he has no time for that.
At the manor, Bruce is freaking out and dialing Jim begging him to save his bestie from that homicidal ginner. Theo has to make it seem like y/n is a hostage since she refuses to do any killing and Jerome has scary dog privilege.
‘They aren’t real. They aren’t people.’ She’d try to tell herself, but she just can’t bring herself to try to hurt someone. y/n is one of those freaks who try to drive safely in GTA without running over anyone or anything.
She doesn’t think that her words mean anything and that everything will follow the script. Until she tells Jerome to take an extra lighter with him. She’s chilling by herself when the news shows footage of a burnt bus and the news anchor talking about the cheerleaders who lost their lives.
That’s when y/n starts thinking over everything she’s said. She debates whether or not she should tell Jerome about Theo’s betrayal.
‘The show does start declining in ratings when he’s killed off. I could be doing the writers a favor, but what about the people? No, characters. They’re just characters! They aren’t real!’
In the end, Jerome is killed off and she’s put back into Arkham. Everyone is surprised by how calm she is after Jerome’s death. Not upset or anything. Like weren’t they close? Maybe their relationship was more one-sided.
Jim will question y/n and she might let a few things slip. Most brush her words off as they believe that she has some sort of Stockholm syndrome and is angry at Theo for killing her captor.
Back at Arkham, y/n yells, “FUCK!” When seeing Hugo Strange.
When Theo is dealt with, Jim will visit her or send her a thank you card for pointing him in the right direction regarding the investigation.
I’m getting tired and I might continue writing about this.
But I was going to have y/n be free from Arkham when some evidence regarding her case comes out. y/n will be outwardly passive throughout the story.
In the end, I was going to have y/n be the one who becomes Joker. Maybe she falls into a tub of chemicals. Don’t worry darling you aren’t going to be deformed like Jeremiah at the end. You’ll look different, but still smoking hot. 😘
Anyway seeing the physical change, her dwindling hope of getting back home, and her mental state being worn out. She decides to step up and take the name of Joker.
Bruce angst all the way. Maybe angst for other characters, but I could see this tearing him apart. He’s forced to watch his closest friend be replaced by a cackling monster. To then eventually start fighting against her.
She doesn’t react to being called y/n anymore, but she’ll give Batman/Bruce a melancholy look if he calls her by that. He doesn’t call her y/n often because that wasn’t y/n. y/n l/n was dead and there was no way she was coming back.
The theory of Joker being sane will ring true to y/n. She knows this isn’t real. It’s just fiction and any good piece of fiction needs a good villain. Since she’s not making it back home, she’ll make things fun.
Or multiple endings because those are always fun.
“Jerome? Jeremiah? Never heard of them.”

Forgotten Batsibling Pt2!!
Y/N: Your name
H/N: Hero Name
F/C: Favorite color
TW. Sad stuff, guilt, self-blame.
It’s been a month since Y/N died. After the flames were doused, the fire department and the police scoured the building looking for the body of the fallen hero. The only thing they found of the lost hero was the mask. There was no body left to be found, no remains, no ashes. The warehouse fire consumed all of them. The mask stays inside of the case which once held their suit, now empty. A memoir to the house without you, empty.
Bruce has tried his best to be strong, to be the hero that Gotham needs. But he can’t help but spend hours looking at the mask with regret and guilt. Regret for letting you go in to save Jason, and guilt for not realizing that the savior needed to be saved. Guilt for letting another child die.
Damian has refused to even enter the Batcave. All he sees is a constant reminder of the sibling he once had, the person who would go to the moon and back for all of them, now gone. He swears he can still hear your voice calling his name from downstairs, and he can’t help the tears that spring to his eyes when he thinks about you.
Your room hasn’t been touched since their death, the door shut and locked up. No one has ever been able to look at the room, their guilt or sadness overpowering their will to do so.
Dick constantly wishes for just one more patrol with you, to hear your voice one more time. He regrets every moment he tried to get away from you, or left you behind. He glances behind him, hoping that you’ll be right there, just like you usually would despite his attempts to shake you off.
Tim has noticed now when his coffee runs out and tastes different than usual. Whenever he’s on a mission, he notices that his success percentage is lower than normal. There is no one there to jump in when a step goes in the bin. No one waiting to check on him after a mission. He’s finally noticed and acknowledged the fact that you’re gone. And he’s shut down any emotions that come with it. He is probably the only one in the family who could open your bedroom door, but he can’t bring himself to do it because he feels he isn’t worthy to do so.
Now Jason on the other hand, can’t pull himself out of his work. He feels he can’t take off the mask because if he does, he’s afraid he’ll crumble and fall apart. He keeps telling himself to stay strong, and to stay Red Hood because right now, the people of Gotham don’t need Jason, they need you. They need H/N. As soon as Jason takes off the mask when he gets to one of his safe houses, he instantly breaks down. All he can see is the moment he knocked you down, and caused your demise. The last thing he saw of you was you holding the beam up for him to escape. He swears he can feel you watching over him, even though he caused your death. All he can think is that he’s the reason you're dead. He killed you, the only person who ever seemed to care, even when he had tried to hurt you.
You didn’t get the proper funeral that everyone felt you deserved. The people of Gotham mourned for days, the Commissioner and the Mayor themselves speaking at your funeral. Funny enough, even the Joker took the day off despite the clear opportunity he had to go and create utter chaos. There was no body to bury. The city lowered an empty casket into the ground, and then erected a statue of you over it. A memory forever ingrained into the people of Gotham’s minds of the hero who once lived to save the city.
Of course, Bruce had to figure out how to tell the press that Y/N Wayne was gone, without revealing the fact that you were H/N. They managed to make up a story of you falling seriously ill, and succumbing to it. They played it off to the media as having a private funeral and having the body buried in their graveyard. Y/N was buried beside what was Jason’s grave, an F/C flower sprouting from the dirt over the empty casket. The gray headstone reading:
“Here lies Y/N. A sibling, friend, and a loving person. May their memory live on. 20XX-20XX”
Now, for the super short scenario.
Damian stood at the grave, looking down at the gray stone. Tears stung his eyes, rolling down his face, but he didn’t care. The rain hid them anyway. He stood soaked and cold, but he didn’t care. He couldn’t feel it anyway. The cold rain continued to pelt his body, leaving him soaked to the bone. His eyes fall to the F/C flower, its petals still bright. All he could think about was the fact that there was nobody under his feet. All that was there was an empty box covered in a layer of soaked dirt. He couldn’t help the sob that escaped his throat at the thought of never seeing you again. The last he saw of you was you running into the building to save Jason, a brave face filled with worry plastered onto your face. He couldn’t help but blame Jason slightly, but he knew that you went in fully knowing the risks of what you were doing. As he stared at the grave, he couldn’t help but feel like someone was watching him. Something was telling him, he needed to go back to Robin. The people needed Robin. He wiped his eyes, standing up straighter before turning and heading back for the manor, determined to prevent another family member from dying. Little did he know, after he had left the grave, a figure stood over the grave, reading the stone. Their shoulders rose and fell with a laugh before the figure disappeared into the rain. All that remained was a crumpled F/C flower, the petals littering the ground.
