Hey, if Luffy is the Sun and his nine crew mates are the planets resolving around him, who would be which planet?
Just by vibes only I would go: Mercury/Sanji; Venus/Nami; Earth/Usopp; Mars/Franky; Jupiter/Zoro; Saturn/Robin; Uranus/Chopper; Neptune/Jinbei; Pluto/Brook (Pluto will forever be a real planet to me)
The idea of the straw hats as the planets orbiting around luffy's sun is soso cute 😭💖 tbh I'm not super knowledgeable about these things BUT I do know a bit of roman mythology broadly speaking so I'd say jimbei as neptune, the god of the sea and counterpart to poseidon, fits nicely. brook the "soul king" as pluto, god of the underworld, counterpart to hades, too. I'd probably switch nami and sanji with each other bc of the mythology bits too (mercury and venus are, among other things, the god and goddess of commerce/financial gain/luck and love/beauty, respectively) aaand zoro to be the earth as well, but mostly for symbolic reasons since he's kind of a rock/steady/grounding pillar for luffy and the straw hats. you could also make a case for moon!zoro, usopp remaining as earth and adding vivi as jupiter instead.

Armor gifted from Ankarna to her follower Athenriel. After Athenriel took on the form of Bakur, the armor passed through his lineage patrilineally until it was gifted to Gorthalax the Insatiable.
The curse of the armor transferred to the eldest male descendants of the lineage with the death of each previous holder of the curse. The most recent of these was Gilear Faeth. Upon reunification with the line of Athenriel, the curse was left in a flux state, until it was taken on by the Dark Mistress and Archdevil of the Bottomless Pit, Figueroth the Infaethable.

The Transubstantiations of the Nightmare King
Four symbols of the Unnamed Goddess’ power, converted into four curses which spread the power of the King of the Dark Dreaming
The Coin, a curse placed on the hoard of Kalvaxus that allowed the Nightmare King to possess those who had knowledge of their wealth’s origin (Dragon Madness). This curse came from the trans-substantiation of the spellbook of the Unnamed Goddess, now known as Cassandra. DIspelled by the Blessed Saint Kristen Applebees.
The Plague, a curse placed on the familiar of the Unnamed Goddess, Kalina the Shadow Cat. This curse converted Kalina into a plague that manifested as various illusionary powers, with additional strength within the borders of Sylvaire. Dispelled by Aelwyn Abernant.
The Curse, a curse that bound celestials who attempted to enter the Nightmare King’s Forest and utilized their energies to power the mycelium web of trans-substantiations. This curse originated from the cottage of the Unnamed Goddess. Dispelled by Tracker O’Shaughnessy.
The Tree, a curse on the arcane focus of the Unnamed Goddess, a broomstick which became the Tree at the center of Sylvaire. This curse altered the shape of the Forest to suit the fears of those who entered–the more confident a traveler was in their path, the further they traveled from the center of the Forest. Dispelled by Tracker O’Shaughnessy.
The Crown of the Nightmare King
The last remnant of the Nightmare King after the Fall of Kalvaxus
A talisman capable of anchoring an extraplanar being to a world as if they were native to that plane
The Source of a great deal of power for the other trans-substantiations
Powerfully Cursed for mortal beings. Singular Curse broken by Garthy O’Brien
Dispelled by the Blessed Saint Kristen Applebees, through her Honest Worship of Doubt and her Resurrection of the Goddess Cassandra
The Daughter of Storms
Marble Relief that contains the soul of the daughter of Kahaerin, the Storm King, who calls the wrath of storms when it is brought above the surface of the deep sea

Powerful women from the classical world + excerpt of a letter from Lord Byron to Thomas Moore describing his lover Margarita Cogni (Venice, September 19th, 1818):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I wish you a good night, with a Venetian benediction, ‘Benedetto te, e la terra che ti fara!’ — ‘May you be blessed, and the earth which you will make!’ — is it not pretty? You would think it still prettier if you had heard it, as I did two hours ago, from the lips of a Venetian girl, with large black eyes, a face like Faustina’s, and the figure of a Juno — tall and energetic as a Pythoness, with eyes flashing, and her dark hair streaming in the moonlight — one of those women who may be made any thing. I am sure if I put a poniard into the hand of this one, she would plunge it where I told her, — and into me, if I offended her. I like this kind of animal, and am sure that I should have preferred Medea to any woman that ever breathed.”
The mythical and historical allusions:
In Roman myth, Juno was Queen of the Gods as well as a military figure often depicted armed. In Greek myth, Medea was a sorceress who gets revenge against her unfaithful husband through murdering their children and his lover. Although “Pythoness” could refer to demonic witches in other uses, Byron is using it here as another name for Pythia or the Oracle of Delphi, a divine priestess and the most powerful female office in the ancient world.
Faustina is either a reference to the Younger or the Elder. Faustina the Younger was the wife of Marcus Aurelius; he revered her so much that he gave her enormous power, although later historians (probably falsely) accused her of being a murderer and adulteress. Faustina the Elder was the adoptive mother of Marcus Aurelius and was one of the most beloved Roman women in history, whose coinage often features Juno.
Byron's life and writing in context:
When he was living abroad in self-exile, Byron often sought to entertain his friends back home by sharing his adventures in lurid detail. His vivid letters became well-read throughout the 1800s, and are considered some of his best writing. Travel writing and adventure stories were extremely popular in the 19th century, and even most of Byron’s fiction champions these themes. Living abroad and traveling became marketable parts of Byron's celebrity. He blended his own experiences into his work, and chief among these were his romantic experiences.
Shelley once compared Byron to the Greek myth of Circe when writing in a letter about Byron's excessive amount of pets. Circe was known for seducing men and turning them into animals who roamed around her palace. Like a witch or an alchemist, Byron frequently transformed his lovers into characters through his writing. Like countless others, Margarita Cogni was mythically immortalized through the writer's description of her. She and Byron's other Venetian lovers have become part of the wider Romantic era mythology tradition, like the constantly retold tales of Mary Shelley's invention of Frankenstein, Percy Shelley's drowning, and John Keats' love for Fanny Brawne.
By using references to classical women in this letter Byron is not only paying tribute to mythology, history, and the Italian landscape in a way that his foreign audience would find tantalizing, but he is also exploring romanticized notions of classical female beauty which are at turns conventional and unconventional. He channels the gothic sublime through the otherworldly power and danger these women all represent, as well as channeling more traditional concepts of feminine strength rooted in modesty, beauty, and passivity. Byron creates poetic contradictions.
Just as he famously describes himself as “changeable, being everything by turns and nothing long,” he utilizes paradox and inconstance in his writing, such as in this satirical formulation of Margarita Cogni as the ideal lover who is both Goddess and woman, mistress and slave, contemporary and classical, masculine and feminine, wife and adulteress, murderess and murdered.
One can clearly see how this is the same chameolonic, binary-blurring poet who would go on to write the gender-bending themes of Don Juan — “If people contradict themselves, can I / Help contradicting them, and every body, / Even my veracious self?” — and who years beforehand had written She Walks in Beauty — where “all that’s best of dark and bright / Meet in her aspect and her eyes.”

Denarius minted in 17 BCE by Marcus Sanquinius, one of the IIIviri monetales, to mark Augustus' holding of the Ludi Saeculares (Secular Games). On the obverse, the bust of the deified Julius Caesar; above his head is the comet seen after his assassination that was thought to mark his ascent to the gods. On the reverse, the herald of the Secular Games, in a costume evocative of the divine herald Mercury, including the caduceus.
The Secular Games were ostensibly held every 110 years, this period having been set by Etruscan soothsayers as the farthest limit of a human lifespan. Civil war prevented the holding of the regularly scheduled Games in 46 BCE; after Augustus became sole ruler, he chose 17 BCE to inaugurate a new Golden Age (saeculum aureum). The Games began with three days of prayer and sacrifice by Augustus and M. Agrippa, held both by day and by night. The daylight sacrifices were to Olympian deities (Jupiter, Juno, and Apollo/Diana), while the nighttime sacrifices honored deities with chthonic associations (the Moerae [Fates], the Ilythiae [goddesses of childbirth], and Terra Mater {Mother Earth]). The poet Horace composed a hymn for the occasion, the Carmen Saeculare, which was performed by choirs of boys and girls on the Palatine and then on the Capitoline. This event had several purposes: it celebrated peace and prosperity after many years of civil war; it advanced Augustus' program of religious reform and a return to the "old ways"; and it made absolutely clear that Augustus himself was the foremost figure in Roman state religion--not only in his official capacity as pontifex maximus, but by virtue of his close association (if not identification) with Palatine Apollo. The overall template would be used again by Domitian (88 CE) and Septimius Severus (204 CE), but Constantine declined to hold the Games in 314, bringing them to an end.

Monday April 22, 2024 is Earth Day, A PRAYER FOR GAIA :
In ancient Greece, Gaia was the great deity of the Earth, the primordial Mother Goddess who created and birthed the Universe, and all of the heavenly Gods.
Consider this her holy day.
Find a place outside, place your bare feet upon the earth, raise your hands to the sky and recite the following:
Earth, Terra, Gaia! Mother of All, Giver of Gifts and of Life,
I offer all of my prayers to thee, my respect and gratitude, and may this be a conscious oath to protect you and to honor you as I recognize the great need for your healing.
May your fields be rich and your soil fertile, and may they be sown and reaped with care.
May your mountains attest to your splendor and strength and your valleys hum with the lullaby of your receptive embrace.
May your oceans, waters, rivers, and glaciers be pure and nourishing as the life-blood of the planet.
May your air be clean and free of toxins that all may breathe deeply and fully the great life-force.
May your turning invoke an understanding of all cyclical things in nature; of growth and decay, of planting and harvest, of karmic cycles and that as we give, so do we receive.
May your children learn to care for you and love you, and to teach their children the same.
You are the Earth, and I am your child. “SO IT IS!”

english:
I tell Hecate when I go To the home of the departed, of those who no longer On the earth walk, enjoying Helios "Greet him for me, Three-Faced Lady"
So I trust in the Goddess, in Her pair of torches In the power to be everywhere and carry the message On this day where we remember where we came from and Where we will all go in the end.

The Romans identified her with Tellus Mater, Terra Mater, or Magna Mater (Cybele). The very soil of Dheut-e-Zonja was believed to have the powers of an all-seeing eye that watched humanity from the ground up, knowing everywhere each of us goes. When an Albanian moved to a foreign land, he or she took with them a container of Mother Earth, as the concept of the Earthmother was regionalized. She was Mother of the Sun-goddess, rebirthing Her every morning. She cared for the dead, their remains buried and their soul going to an underworld paradise. Mourners would get on their knees making forlorn wailing sounds, then place their foreheads on Mother Earth. She was sometimes paired with Zoh-z, the Albanian Sky-god, with many formulaic sayings or prayers to Earth and Sky. Presumedly he was her husband. Dheut-e-Zonja was mother of vegetation. Her sacred groves were designated natural sites of great beauty, where it was forbidden to cut down trees, and no house or settlement was permitted, or the offenders' families would suffer longlasting misfortune.
An Albanian and Kosovan folk practice that lasted into the 20th Century provides lingering evidence of an Earthmother cult. Infants and children who were not thriving would be taken to a ritual location by an elderly woman of the family or village, there laid upon the ground, and covered with fresh earth, all except the head, the while reciting prayers or spells of healing. This was believed to impart the Earth's strength to the child.
Figurine: Copper Age ceramic goddess figurine found at Maliqi, Albania.

For Star Holder, I have a question.
I am rather interested in the parents in Star Holder. May I ask for some acts about them (You can exclude Obscura if you want, I understand she already has some fact about her on this blog.)
(dw obscura, i still love you)
Hello!
Let's list the parents! <3
Solaris and Obscura (Sun and Eclipse's dad and mom)
Solaris facts can be found here! I did these a while back.
And here are Obscura's, for those who missed that post!
Terra and Ursa (Pluto's dad and mom)
Tumblr media
-Terra, baby Pluto (10), and his wife Ursa <3
Terra is the previous forge god and a rather notable greater god.
-Though, he's quite antisocial and prefers to show his care through the things he makes.
-He specialized in jewelry, rather than weapons. Pluto chose weaponry as her focus because she wanted to know all her friends were safe. Whereas Terra believed his friends capable of handling all situations without use of deadly force.
-Ursa was a minor goddess of the springtime.
-She was very focused on the growth of plants and flowers.
-Ursa fell for Terra almost immediately. She loved his big himbo energy. <3
-Ursa did push Pluto to socialize, but only because she knew how bad Terra struggled with his own social anxieties.
-Terra and Ursa made the decision to create Pluto, rather than have her the way humans do. They did this by planting a seed under the star's light and coming back everyday to bless the seed for YEARS.
-Thanks to their dedication, Pluto was born very strong. They say she split the earth all by herself when she emerged!
-Even though Terra was a mountain of a man, he was quite gentle! His familiar was a little squirrel that he tried to rescue but ultimately didn't make it.
-Ursa took an owl as her familiar! A wise and noble creature that had a grudge against Terra's squirrel to the bitter end.
Luna (Moon's mom)
Tumblr media
-Luna and Moon (age 13)
-The previous moon goddess!
-Was really well known for her passion for academics and magic.
-Also had a cat for her familiar named Twilight!
-Luna was the kind of woman everyone wants to be (or be with). She was confident, social, and overall very sweet. There were very few people who could say anything bad about her.
-She was also pretty darn sassy
-And while she was known for her kindness, she held a quiet distaste for Solaris her whole life.
-Much like Terra, Luna chose to have Moon the way greater gods traditionally do! She grew him in a fish tank that she kept where it could receive the moon's light each night. <3
-When Moon came out and said he wanted to transition, Luna was fiercely supportive and protective of her son.
-Luna always believed Pluto and Eclipse would end up getting married and was quite shocked when she learned that wasn't the case
-Luna was good friends with Elusia! They often met to talk and enjoy tea together. She encouraged him to start writing after he lost his wife as a way to express his grief.
-She's a lesbian. Just. So very soft for women. (Looking at you, Obscura)
-After Obscura married Solaris, Luna resolved to focus on her studies instead of romance. Thus, she never married.
-Luna loved to collect cursed and rare magic items. She was very interested in lifting curses as a hobby.
-The one item she never could purify was this creepy old book about a rabbit king. :)
Shafaer vi Welunna Thurkear and Elaine (Lunar's dad and mom)
Tumblr media
-(Left to right) Erid (13), Lunar (10), Welunna, Nana (8), Elaine, and Clyde (11)
-"Shafaer vi Welunna Thurkear" translates to 'on a moonless night'. His name literally means New Moon. Though, most just called him Welunna, as he lived in an area where draconic was common.
-A god of lies and deals, a trickster! Much like his son.
-Elaine was a human woman whom Welunna loved dearly. She moved to the village Lunar grew up in in order to learn medicine from the dragons <3
-Elaine and Welunna had three children the way humans do. (Lunar's siblings)
-Welunna created Lunar the way other gods are created <3 Elaine wasn't able to help with magic, but she would bring new herbs to the spot Lunar was planted every day and prey for him to grow up strong
-When Lunar was born with four arms, Welunna was so proud, he wept
-Welunna loved to tell stories to the local children and often put on little plays using his gift of illusion. Elaine helped do the voices!
-When Elaine passed on, Welunna focused more of his time on working to ensure all of his children and grandchildren would have a stable future.
-Elaine lived a very long, happy life.
-When Lunar introduced Welunna to Aya, Welunna first words were "I knew you'd choose someone gentle".
-Welunna loved his family. But he refused to tell them anything about his own parents until he was on his deathbed.
-When Welunna passed, his final words to his children were "Don't hold onto hate". This was because he didn't want any of them to end up like his mother had.
-Welunna and Elaine were very well-loved members of their community. When Welunna died, the dragons gathered to give him a farewell ceremony.
