I finally put up my art print of Aristaios (god of beekeeping, but also SO MANY other "rural arts") and I feel so much peace looking at it 🥺 I love him a lot, he deserves this incredible art ^-^

Hello! Could you make an altar guide for Goddess Nyx? And without wanting to bother you too much, Nyx is a Hellenic deity??
Just curious, I'm new to this and I wanted to know if I'm Hellenic for worshiping the Goddess Nyx.
Thanks for your attention
– Mel
Nyx is definitely considered a hellenic deity, and she plays a not-so-insignificant role in the Greek origin story. You don't have to consider yourself a Hellenic pagan if you don't want to though, it's up to you. There's really nothing special you have to do either way.
NYX
Colors: black, dark blue, purple for association with the night, anything galaxy patterned
Offerings: blackberries, blueberries, plum, dew (morning is fine but after sunset is best), dark feathers, dark chocolate, night-blooming flowers (like moonflower or wisteria), black tea/coffee, mugwort
Crystals: obsidian, black tourmaline, labradorite, moonstone (especially black moonstone), selenite, lapis lazuli, amethyst, smokey quartz
Animals: owl
also, she is associated with symbols of keys and veils/cloaks, so during your practice you might look into veiling (highly recommend if you're neurodivergent too!)

On paganism and rules
Lately I've been seeing on Tumblr a series of posts that made me realise we're in a much individualistic (and hubris filled) society that I originally thought. These are just my thoughts as someone who sincretises Hellenic and Roman practices, so any debate in the comments is welcome, just as long as you're disrespectful.
I think a lot of people, mostly because of Abrahamic propaganda, think that the pagans religions are rule-less. That we can do whatever we want. I think this is why a lot of people that were raised in very strict Abrahamic households then change to paganism thinking this is the complete opposite and they can do whatever they want.
This is far from the truth. While we may not have a series of commandments or very strict rules, in modern Hellenismos there's a series of pillars we have to follow, one of them being Sophia (seeking wisdom).
Yesterday I saw someone say that you don't need to read the myths, as that's just “UPG from the past”. How do you plan on pursuing wisdom and knowledge when you can't even bring yourself to read the stories of your religious ancestors? How will you get to know the culture your religion comes from? How will you get to know the symbolism associated with each god throughout different territories? What separates you from a Lore Olympus fan?
When I see things like these I can't help but think that they come from people who don't wanna make the effort to learn. I see it as not wanting to step out of your comfort zone. I'm no revivalist, as I believe doing things exactly as they did it 2000 years ago is counterproductive in today's society. But I also see these acts as evidence of this individualistic society we live in and how it's infiltrating religious practices. I'm guilty of this myself too. But I think if we wanna change something in our personal practice or we wanna change a practice to fit into our daily lives, we also need to learn why our religious ancestors did things the way they did it. We need to stop calling everything “valid” because if everything is valid then that validity has no worth.
So in conclusion:

Quick reminder for both new pagans and experienced pagans: it's normal to not always feel a deity's presence, and it's normal even if you never feel their presence. You're not doing anything wrong.

Listen. Abandoning the idea of what a proper pagan is was the most rewarding experience. Your intuition is stronger than you think.
This isn't a science. You don't have to treat it like one. Go with your heart, go with your intuition. It will help you grow more than you've ever dreamed of.

If you’re finding it difficult to carve out a practice for yourself, you’re just having a normal response. We were never supposed to do this. Polytheism is not an orthodoxy that we can divert to based on dogma and texts. It’s an orthopraxy, the likes of which were always intended to be practiced by the community, the polis, with the guidance of elders and experts. Because of the march of time bringing forced Christianization, colonization, and capitalism enforcing rugged individualism, we’ve been left with little choice but to carve a tiny piece for ourselves.
We’re doing fantastic, considering we’re rebuilding from the scraps and ruins of long gone empires.

“You worship so many deities how do you keep up with them all?”
Yes, that is kind of the point of polytheism.
Polytheistic worship includes a massive web of Gods who are all connected in some way or another, their domains overlapping as they work together.
You are just one person so you only have so much time and energy, of course you would worship one Deity who is linked heavily to your journey more than others.
You dont have to be every Deity’s devotee, just like you dont have to be everyones best friend. Sometimes you worship for a specific time, purpose or to bond with a loved one who worships that Deity.
Like I said in my previous post, the Gods will not get angry or clingy if you dont pay attention to them, they existed and have been worshipped way before you were born and way after you are dead.
If you devote yourself to a deity, dont be afraid to acknowledge their family, in fact they will encourage it.

Just a quick reminder~
Not all polytheists consider themselves as pagans, and not all pagans consider themselves polytheists. The two terms aren't universally interchangeable.
(Some people use the terms interchangeably for themselves because the terms are heavily intertwined for them. This is not the case for everyone.)

To my pagan/polythiest friends, heres a reminder to actually sit and chat with your deity about what you want/need and what would make life easier for you. They cant read minds most of the time (when you're not actively quietly communicating with them) and communication can only strengthen bonds. Go say that thing youre terrified to say or admit that you dont like some aspect of your practice. 90% of the time life gets easier when you do. And they're genuinely happy to see you succeed how you want to.
I see u, you're doin great

I feel like a lot of the questions in pagan spaces along the lines of "will this god be mad at me if I work with this other god/pantheon/etc." are usually asked because someone's coming from Christianity and still has some fears and anxieties left over from that.
You don't have to worry about deities getting mad if you work with other deities/pantheons in polytheism, by the way. Polytheism literally means worshipping multiple gods. It's not an issue.

"Of Kythereia, born in Kypros, I will sing. She gives kindly gifts to men: smiles are ever on her lovely face, and lovely is the brightness that plays over it. Hail, goddess, queen of well-built Salamis and sea-girt Kypros; grant me a cheerful song. And now I will remember you and another song also."
