They’ll never do a Hitman level set in a Furry Convention because gamers would absolutely ruin it but imagine. like the target isn’t a furry he just owns a hotel that happens to have one every year but you can disguise yourself in a fursuit and some guy will ask you “what species is your sona” and 47 would be like “a wolf. i always felt a connection with…hunters.” and then diana would be like “let’s see if you can sniff out some information, furrty-seven” and then he comes to my house and kills me for writing this

Oh no, now I'm picturing John walking in on Ianthe and Kiriona licking each other's organs. Instead of being grossed out he's like "That's what A-- and M-- used to do," and then starts to sob hysterically, which makes everything so much worse

Biggest hindrance of Doctor Who being a family show is that it ends up preventing authenticity. By which I specifically mean there's no damn way that Donna's response to some of the things The Doctor says wouldn't have been "Fuck off."

This is a small thing, but I find it so interesting that the lyctors wear iridescent white robes. The text describes them as being the color of an oily sheen on water, and there's symbolism there of course, but a thing I've discovered (while trying to do a TLT cosplay) is that white iridescent fabric is always polyester. Plastic-based, terrible-for-the-environment, beloved-of-fast-fashion polyester. It doesn't breathe. Every time you wash it, it leaves behind microplastics in the water (which is maybe something to be examined about the Mithraeum's water recycling system). It's a major product of the oil industry, an industry which is heavily contributing to, if not spearheading, climate change.
And I think it's just so incredibly in character that John - the man who was given the power to save the Earth but instead started WWIII, trapped Her soul in the body of a Barbie, and has used Her as his personal power source for a myriad without a care for what She wants - picked a polyester fabric as the symbol of the First House.
Likely, he didn't even think about it.

Thematically it makes perfect sense for the stoma to treat John as a Resurrection Beast because he has very much made himself Earth's revenant. Forget the literal here for a minute, forget that he became God by achieving perfect lyctorhood with Earth's resurrection beast as his cavalier; this man has turned himself into the hungry ghost of Earth. He has spent ten thousand years chasing revenge against the people he holds responsible for Earth's death. They've been dead for 9,900 of those years? Irrelevant, they've got descendants, they'll do. He has a chance to have back all the people he most loved in life? Great! But only if he can use them to advance his quest for revenge. In fact, better make half of his friends kill the other half so that they have to take on his quest too to justify it to themselves. If that keeps their power from matching his, well that's a bonus.
He brought humanity back from the dead. He could've rebuilt into the kind of world he used to be fighting for. He could've turned his immense power and influence towards trying to reverse the horrific damage that had been done to Earth. And the damage was horrific, but he had all the time in the world. He could've rebuilt his found family, and shared in the genuine love they all had for each other as they continued to fight for a better future.
But he didn't. He abandoned Earth to rot. He sent his new society forth like a plague to bring the ruin of Earth to every other planet he could reach. He manipulated his friends into mutilating themselves into weeping weapons that he could aim at an enemy that didn't even exist anymore.
John the man died with Earth. The Prince Undying is only a revenant.

What did John tell Augustine and Mercy and Gideon and Pyrrha and Nigella and Cassiopeia and the nun (Cristabel? Anastasia? I think Cristabel because of her relationship with Alfred and her being Mercy’s best friend but I’m note sure?) and Alfred about who they’d been and what had happened? What did he tell them about how much he’d loved them and how much they’d loved him? How much did he tell them about who they’d all been? What parts of themselves did he help them to relearn, and how much of that was how he saw them more than it was who they’d been? Godddddddd. John is the man who when he was asked “Is that the truth, or the truth you tell yourself?” responded with “What is the difference?” What truths did he tell himself about these people he loved, and how much of it was just the truth he told himself?
I am going insane

weeping because way back in book 1, in chapter 1 all the way back on page 22, Gideon says that no one on the Ninth had ever loved her, not even Aiglamene, and the idea that she had been loved would be ridiculous. and then in book 3 we return to the Ninth and Aiglamene saw that Gideon was dead and she was. furious. she was furious with Harrow. everyone else was ready to kiss Harrow's feet and Aiglamene was ready to tear into the fucking Revered Daughter right there in public, until Gideon stopped her. do you think she told Harrow to bring Gideon back alive? do you think, before they left for Canaan House, Aiglamene sat Harrow down and told her whatever the fuck happens out there, that she cannot let any harm come to Gideon Nav?
baby Gideon needed the kind of tender loving care that no one on the Ninth was capable of giving her. this is a fact. but I believe Aiglamene DID, and DOES still love her. Aiglamene petitioned to give her the sword. she saw Gideon fighting against the strictures of the Ninth House and she understood that Gideon would never be a nun or a penitent. she spent hours and hours and hours with her training and teaching and giving Gideon the only kind of love she knew how to give. she wouldn't have done that if she didn't love her. fuck.

everyone who sees nona thinking she looks sick and kinda ugly but nona herself thinking she’s beautiful vs everyone who sees alecto thinking she looks beautiful if terrifying but alecto herself thinking she’s hideous. nona waking up in a dying body of a half-starved girl and thinking it’s the most wonderful gift vs alecto being forced into a perfect body crafted specifically for her and thinking it’s the worst thing anyone could have ever done to her. how cam and pal and pyrrha always tried to give nona choices, and john never gave alecto a single one at all. and how what broke harrow and made her fall in love with alecto was the single imperfection on alecto’s entire body, that one little divot on her lip.
