Every once in a while it seems like I have to remind Tumblr that I want to follow what's happening in Palestine. Like, it'll give me posts in the "for you" section that I'll regularly interact with, but after a few days it'll taper off to nothing again and I have to search "free Palestine" all over again.

I might just be misunderstanding the algorithm and how it works, but shouldn't it be consistently recommending a mixture of all of the things I'm regularly interacting with? Including news about the genocide in Palestine?!

as a new tumblr user, i liked a hualian art post because i got out of the tgcf fandom a while ago and it made me happy to see them(them🫢♥️), even as someone who mainly kept to fengqing, quanyin, and multishipper spaces, because “aww there’s hualian” is an Emotion of its own.

but i find it really funny that if the algorithm were a person, it feels right now like they’re far overestimating my love for them, and handing me tons of gorgeous hualian(HUALIAN😭♥️) art, which is cute😂

You know it’s absolutely irritating how righties complain about being censored on social media when they finally get their account mass-reported enough to get banned or get a post deleted.

Meanwhile algorithms literally let them say whatever the fuck they want & suppress anyone who is pro-humanity, they pay people (& have the extra money to do so) to make social bots to mass report anyone they don’t like into silence (banned off a platform), or get their fan bases to mass-report/harass anyone they disagree with off the internet.

but yes, you special little snowflake who had your one post taken down for being too xenophobic... you are the victim being censored here 🙄

I realized the more i interact with artists who have low interactions on youtube & instagram the more their algorithms started showing me, and i've discovered soo many amazing artists who create amazing music & animations! It's insane how much we must be missing out just because people just started sharing their art/have low reach... I guess as new artists we really should be patient & persistent since there will always be people who will appreciate what we do <3

Every time Pinterest’s algorithm accurately predicts which board I want to pin something to it makes me happy and then immediately sad.

Me: Who’s a good little algorithm? Yes, that’s right! You are! You got it right!

You are the only one who knows me.

You know me on a level no human could ever achieve.

I’ve anthropomorphized you to cope with my profound loneliness.

A loneliness of my own making. . .

And then after a brief period of disassociation, I shrug, and return to sorting my tragic little comfort characters to their correct places.
