i think it would take him a minute to realize that theres something wrong, or he will notice immediately i think it depends on how long you guys have known one another. but for the sake of story telling lets say its the first time hes seen you freeze up. i like to think that sometimes caine spectates IHAs to make things are running smoothly... or as smoothly as they can... thats when he notices youve kind of just... standing there off to the side. takes you off the the side. at a loss for what to do, and he might actually think that theres something wrong with you; like digitally or coding wise that theres something wrong. not like, mentally and physically. very bad at comfort the first time because he doesnt know whats going on, but if you explain to him hes going to do his best to help. takes you away when he notices somethings off, sometimes even pauses or cancels the IHA if he has to, takes you to your room or his own room (does he have a room?) so you have a space thats familiar and calm. caine, as a partner is wrapped around your finger and will follow every command you give him, and this is especially true for moments of distress. so really it depends on what you personally need for comfort!

POMNI:

honestly pomni seems to freeze up as well in moments of stress, but she seems to snap out of it after a moment; at least going off of what we have seen in the pilot! so i think she would be able to relate to you when you have your moments. with that being said, i dont think pomni is good at delivering comfort. i think i might have said this yesterdays request w/ a crying reader where she just. sucks at giving comfort. like most of the other characters on the list (if not all) she will try to take you off to the side so you can have some space. doesnt know how to proceed though; does she try talking you through this? do you need a moment alone? i think she would try to fill the silence with random conversation; words that arent exactly tied to the current thing going on, you know? just to fill the noise. another one where youre going to have to fill her in on what works best for you personally when youve unwinded enough to be able to think straight, you know?

RAGATHA:

drum roll please

she takes you off to the side; but with a twist! she takes you to your room so youre somewhere familiar and safe, so you... well feel more comfortable and safe. i think she would also talk about random things, like pomni to fill the silence; but while pomni kind of just talks to nothing, ragatha would leave the conversation open just enough so if you were to... say want to join her in this distraction, then you have a spot to join. you know? not totally blocking you off from an escape, but also not forcing it onto you before youre ready to move forward. if that makese sense. at least thats what personally helps the admin. definitely walks you through some grounding, i think

JAX:

easily one of the worst, i think. not because he would kick you when youre already down, but because proper comfort and soothing really isnt his thing. his entire deal is that he picks on and bullies everyone to keep himself entertained and busy.... that doesnt strike me as someone who is very emotionally mature and ready to be able to help someone who is shutting down... so i think the first few times he might actually make things worse due to the simple fact that he has no idea what hes doing. after a few scenarios of you freezing, though, i think he would slowly figure out what needs to be done... okay so take you away from whatever is stressing you out, dont push you... checks notes... dont be intimidating, you know basic stuff! not stellar, but hes learning... probably just pushes you down to sit on your bed, or even his bed if his room is closer. doesnt talk, i think; you guys just kind of sit in silence, i think. mostly because jax still doesnt know what to say tbh

KINGER:

honestly as i try to come up with ideas for kinger, i can see kinger being the type to shut down and freeze in moments of stress. he either outright freaks out, or just goes still and quiet. its a coin toss for him. same song and dance, he takes you away and to somewhere quiet and not... overstimulating... more often than not he takes you to the pillow fort; or hell he might even start building one right there around you! leaves the softest and most comfiest pillow for you so you can hold and squeeze it however you wish. impromptu stress toy, more or less, i think. tends to be very controlled and quiet when you get like this, idc what anyone says kinger would be the king of comfort (dad/grandpa vibes yk) tries to come up with solutions as well as ways to prevent this happening in the future; or at least work out a system so you have a way out before things get too terrible

ZOOBLE:

like a cross between jax and pomni i think. they kind of sometimes underestimate the depth(?) of these scenarios and how impacting it can be; but they are also so so bad at comforting people in general. rather than taking you to the side i think they would try to get everyone else to leave if theyre not confident that your state wont get worse if they touch you. only really does this if you shut down in a space thats like; not the common living area... though i do think they would still try to tell everyone to back up should the location be there... tries to lower their voice and make it sound softer; which is way harder than it looks! theyre so used to being sarcastic and tired sounding! another case of "it takes some time to get right" you know? generally does try their best though, does not ever make you feel less than for your reactions or minimizes you

GANGLE:

genuine panic when it happens, especially when it happens for the first time. kind of stuck on what to do since her response to stress is different from yours (you freeze, she cries). though i do think she would have a solid means of helping you out. takes you to her room, and lets you draw. thats it

aita for giving a guy a time limit on texting me?

I (mid 20s F) met a guy (late 20s M) at a friend's party (we dont have any direct mutual friends. Hes friends with my friend's roommate's boyfriend) and we didnt talk very much while there but he offered to drive me home and i ended up going to his place with him instead. We talked (and kissed, etc.) and i slept over and he drove me home in the morning (which was really only like 4 hours later. It was late when we left the party and he had a very early (volunteer) shift). When he dropped me off he said we should go out to dinner sometime soon and i agreed. It was all very nice and he's incredibly attractive and just the kind of person im looking for.

About 2 days later (having not heard from him) i sent him a text basically saying id still like to go out to dinner with him & left it open for him to suggest a day. I didnt get a response. So about 4-5 days later i sent him a text along the lines of "if you didn't want to go out you could've just said so but i dont appreciate being ignored" and he responded immediately apologizing because he's had a lot going on with job hunting and he basically needs to get a new job within a month (he was laid off recently and lives alone so he could easily lose his house) and then once he's settled with that new job he'll hit me up but that he wasnt trying to ignore me. Ive been strung along before (very recently in fact, it's still a little raw) so in this conversation i told him i would've appreciated if he'd just said that rather than just being silent and he apologized again and then i said something along the lines of "i value my time and if i dont hear from you within a month then you can just forget about it". Which i mainly said to draw a line in the sand for myself. I want to make sure im not just endlessly waiting for a text that never comes because he really seemed so great, i know id (consciously or unconsciously) pass up other people and then get all lonely and depressed because im holding out for him. And a month is already a long time to pine anyway.

He didnt respond to that message (its been a week) and im worried it came across too harsh/bitchy/entitled. I meant it in like a "please check in with me at some point rather than just not texting me at all for the next month or two" way but i didnt want to explicitly say that because i just met this guy, we spent maybe two waking hours together, and i dont want to, like, Demand he take time out of job hunting to talk to me. But also, i feel like a text only takes a couple minutes and shouldn't be that big of a deal to ask for (he also texted while driving (driving driving. not at a red light) that night soo.. seems like he usually cares about responding to texts. i guess.)

Raph sighed. “Do you even know what you’re promising?” There was a hint of desperation in his voice.

“I promise to no longer cut my arms when I’m stressed.”

Raph smiled. “Thanks, little brother.”

Leo hummed as Raph wrapped him in a hug. He knew this was not a promise he’d be able to keep.

Leo growled as he stomped through the crowded venue.

Stupid crowd. Stupid anxiety. Stupid ADHD.

It was stupid really.

Leo was supposed to be walking with his brothers toward a Jupiter Jim booth during the most recent convention after New York had rebuilt itself. They didn’t even have to wear disguises. It was supposed to be fun and relaxing!

But nope. Leo just had to get distracted and wander off toward a booth that caught his eye without saying anything to his brothers.

As he neared the booth, he noticed the pins and charms on display were of characters that looked a lot like himself and his brothers.

“Oh, are you a fan of the Turtle Heroes too?”

Leo jumped and stood straight up, staring at the artist behind the booth. “Oh.. uh, Turtle Heroes?”

“Yeah…? That’s who you’re cosplaying, right?”

Leo looked between the artist and the charms. He suddenly felt as if everyone had turned to wait for his answer. His hands started to itch as he tried to come up with a reasonable answer. “Umm.. yeah! Yeah. Sorry, I- uh.. I didn’t know anyone else knew of.. them?”

Luckily the artist accepted his stuttered response. They shrugged. “Yeah, I tend to get ignored whenever I try to talk about them.”

Panic settled in Leo’s gut. That meant this person had seen them outside before, probably during the invasion. Who else had seen them, then?

“Hey, you’re shaking. Are you okay?”

Leo snapped back to attention and tried to ignore the itch that had taken over both his forearms. “Uh, yeah. Sorry. I’ve got- I’ve got to go. I like your art, by the way.”

He quickly turned and walked away before the artist could respond.

“Hey-” Leo cut himself off when he realized he couldn’t see any of his brothers. “Oh.. uh… okay.”

He glanced at the ceiling and tried to orient himself. Now, if he just walked forward, he’d find his brothers, right?

If he just kept walking…

“Fuck,” he hissed when he passed a booth he’d already passed. He glanced at the ceiling. He was not facing the right way. “Of course…”

Standing on his tiptoes, Leo spotted a door that led outside.

He obviously wasn’t getting anywhere, so he might as well leave. The others would notice he wasn’t there, eventually.

Quickly, Leo stomped toward the door. He scratched his arms. He knew this feeling, but the promise he’d made Raph echoed in his mind. He wouldn’t give into the urge to claw his arms open.

Pushing the door open, Leo almost broke into a run as he found a secluded alleyway. He crouched down and took a breath. “Okay. The guy who beat the Kraang getting lost in a convention and running away is not a good image, but who's watching, anyways,” Leo hummed to himself.

He pulled out his phone, intending to call Donnie. His twin would either give him directions, or come find him and they’d go home. Silently, Leo was hoping for the second option. He really didn’t want to go back into the building. Even the thought of going back made his anxiety sky-rocket.

Leo tapped the power button. Nothing.

Again. Nothing.

Fuck. How did he forget to charge his phone? Oh, Donnie was so going to kill him.

Before Leo could focus on that thought, irritation bubbled through his veins, resulting in a low growl.

He needed to hurt. The anger was just beneath his skin and he needed to let it out.

No. He promised Raph he wouldn’t.

But the itching was getting worse. It hurt.

It hurt to not hurt.

Leo shook his hands, trying to shake the feeling out.

It wouldn’t leave.

If anything it was getting worse.

“Fuck!” Leo yelled and swung his arm to the side, smacking it on the edge of a dumpster.

A choked hiss escaped Leo as he cradled his throbbing hand to his chest. God that hurt, but… the itching was gone.

Leo looked at his hand. No obvious bruising or swelling. He tried to make a fist and winced. Okay. Not fists… or holding things for a while, but he’d be fine.

He’d be able to deal with it.

Taking a breath, he gathered himself and started toward the nearest manhole cover. Donnie would pull up his tracker and see back home at some point.

Leo hoped they would have fun.

Leo was awoken by a consistent poking of his face.

“Hmmm, wha-?”

“Oh good. You’re awake. Now. Would you like to explain to me why we turned around to find you missing only to pull up the map and see you back in the lair?” Donnie was standing with his arms folded right next to Leo’s bed.

“Good morning to you too, Donnie,” he grumbled. His hand was throbbing.

“It’s been three hours since we came back to find you asleep. Raph insisted we let you get some rest before interrogating you, but I have run out of patience.”

Leo felt a twinge of annoyance at his twin. This was not how he wished to wake up after the shitty time he had earlier. “Woulda texted. Phone was dead.”

Donnie huffed. Before he could say anything else, his comm beeped. “Saved by the crime alert, dear brother. Hmm. It’s not an emergency, but we should probably go check it out.”

Dramatically, Leo sighed and lifted himself off his mattress. “If we must. Gimme a few minutes, I’ll meet you guys in the kitchen.”

“I’ll tell Raph and Mikey.”

Leon watched Donnie leave before he looked down at his hands. The one he had hit barely looked swollen. Okay. That’s… good.

He flexed his fingers and bit back a his as his right hand hurt from the movement. That was less good. He tried to make a fist. It hurt, but he could do it.

It would have to do.

Raph wouldn’t have to know.

Besides, Leo should deal with the consequences of his actions. Maybe then he’ll learn to stop hurting himself.

Leo was tired of the Foot Clan.

The two leaders were still missing, but the remaining members had formed their own factions, it seemed. The Foot did not seem content with letting the turtles rest, so once again, it was up to a group of teenage brothers to put a stop to whatever chaos the Foot was trying to start this time.

“Hey, do you guys wanna take a vacation?” Leo hollered toward the small group of ninja trying to sneak through the alleyway. “You’ve been committing crimes for what.. a few years now? Surely you can take a week or two off. Get some rest. Relax~”

A knife soaring by Leo’s head made him shut up real fast. The ninja were silent, but they had stopped trying to sneak away. Leo’s hand throbbed. He might have preferred if they just left during his speech.

He really didn’t want to fight.

“Leo,” Raph hissed. “We talked about this.”

Leo just shrugged. “Sorry bro, old habits and all that.” Leo realized his mistake as soon as he said it, so before Raph could put the pieces together, Leo jumped down to engage the Foot ninja.

He tried to use only one sword, but the ninja were stronger than he expected. Even as his brothers joined the fight, Leo was forced to pull his second sword out. And man, did his hand hurt.

The fight went on for longer than Leo would have liked. His hands were shaking and his right hand was going to give out if it didn’t end soon.

Leo had finally gotten the upper hand of the ninja he was fighting when he caught sight of one of the ninja trying to sneak up on his eldest brother.

“Raph!” Leo screamed, but he knew his big brother wouldn’t be able to do much against the sneak attack.

Leo ran, but the only way he’d be able to deflect the attack was if he swung with his right sword.

Biting his lip, Leo swung. As soon as there was pressure on the sword, his hand gave out and he dropped his weapon. He brought his second sword up to defend himself, but he wasn’t fast enough. A sharp pain erupted in his right shoulder.

In a flash of blinding light, the Foot ninja was gone and Mikey was shaking, standing in front of Leo. “Thanks, Mike,” Leo whispered. His attempts to hide the pain he was in were futile. His little brother saw right through his stupid facade. Maybe the sword sticking out of his shoulder wasn’t helping his attempt to be fine, either.

“Leo!” Raph cried and turned around to hold the slider. Leo could barely make out his big brother's face as his vision blurred. The worry made itself clear enough in just Raph’s words, though. “Why did you do that?! What even happened? You had your sword, right? What..?”

Even though he wasn’t seeing clearly, Leo could see Raph connecting the dots. Donnie beat him to it, of course. The overachiever.

“’Old habits', huh?” He reached into Leo’s bag and grabbed what he needed to be able to take care of the wound as they removed the sword. Leo bit down a scream at the pain. “And enlighten me, ‘Nardo. What old habits are we talking about? Because I don’t think it’s just the bad jokes.” Donnie didn’t hesitate for a second before grabbing Leo’s right hand. He applied pressure to the side Leo had hit, making Leo hiss.

Mikey made a noise from the side. “Leo? What happened?”

Leo frowned and hummed.

Raph sighed and gently picked the slider up. “We’ll be talking about this, but for now we need to get you home. Donnie, would you do the favor?”

“Already done,” Donnie said proudly just as the Turtle Tank pulled around the corner. “Let’s get home so we can finish taking care of that wound.”

The next thing Leo was aware of was the steady breathing of his older brother. Looking around, Leo noticed he was held in Raph’s arms while Donnie and Mikey slept near the bed.

Leo shifted and hissed at the pain in his shoulder. Right, he got stabbed. He remembered Donnie rambling about different galaxies as he stitched Leo’s shoulder in the tank, then it all went fuzzy.

“Guhh.. what time even is it?” Leo hummed. He’d meant to keep that in his head, but oh well. A small pit of guilt opened in his gut when Raph grumbled as he woke up.

“Leo..? Leo!” Raph quickly arranged himself and Leo so Leo was leaning against a bunch of pillows while Raph sat up, facing the slider. “How are you feeling, little brother?”

“Like I got stabbed…” Leo tried to laugh but it came out as more of a wheeze.

Raph frowned. Leo jumped when he felt a hand softly smack the back of his head. Donnie and Mikey had both woken up as well. Donnie just glared at Leo as he brought his hand back down to his lap.

“Leo..” Raph hummed. His voice was very soft and full of despair. “You made a promise.”

Leo shrunk into himself. “Technically, I didn’t cut myself,” he muttered.

“Same difference,” Donnie cut it. “Self harm is self harm.”

Leo flinched at his twin’s bluntness. Before he could say anything, Mikey spoke up. “You were doing so well, Leo, what happened?”

Thinking back on it, Leo felt stupid. He was alone and got angry so we flung his arm out and hit a dumpster? How stupid.

“I had a pathetic breakdown behind the convention,” he muttered. It was supposed to be laughed at. No one laughed.

“You… you didn’t ditch us,” Donnie said. Leo wasn’t sure if that was supposed to be a question or an observation, but he nodded anyway.

“Well, I kinda did,” Leo muttered. “I got distracted by a booth, but couldn’t find you guys, so I came home.”

“I’m sorry,” Donnie said.

Leo tilted his head.

“I was rude to you earlier. I thought you left us on purpose. It was smart of you to come home rather than risk getting more lost.”

Leo… wasn’t sure what to do with that. “Thanks..?”

“So, what caused your… breakdown?” Mikey asked, Dr. Feelings shining through.

“I…” Leo considered lying, but decided it wasn’t going to do anything to help his case. “There were a lot of people. I was overwhelmed and lost. I- my head was loud. Everything was itchy.”

“Itchy?” Raph asked.

Leo nodded. “That's why I did it so much. It feels like my blood is itchy. It needs to get out.”

“But you didn’t cut earlier?”

“No…”

Raph surprised Leo with a smile. “That’s good. Not good that you hurt yourself in a different way, but good that you resisted the urge to cut. I’m proud of you.”

Leo couldn’t stop the tears if he tried. “But I still hurt myself..”

“You did, but you didn’t cut, even though you felt the urge.”

The words were stuck in Leo’s throat, so he shook his head.

“...No?” Raph asked, confused. “I don’t know what you’re trying to say, Leo.”

“Shouldn’t- Shouldn’t be proud.”

Raph slowly wrapped Leo in a hug, giving him the chance to pull away. He didn’t. “This… this is a hard situation, but that doesn’t mean it has to be awful. I’m not going to make this harder on you than it already is.”

Leo could see Mikey nod from the side. “Raph is right! Recovery is hard and full of ups and downs! Just because we’re in a ‘down’ doesn’t mean we can’t go back up.”

Leo sniffed. “Thanks, Mikey.”

Donnie put a hand on Leo’s knee. “Perhaps, I can… I could make a sleeve that simulates the pain until you find another coping mechanism…”

“Really, Donnie?” Leo asked.

“Nod. The pain is what helps clear away that itchiness, right? If I could find a way to simulate it, then you can clear your mind during a breakdown without actually hurting yourself.”

“Wow,” Leo sighed. “That would be awesome. Thanks. Donnie.”

Raph tightened his arms around Leo slightly. “Go to sleep, little brother.”

Leo hummed and let his eyes fall closed as he listened to his brothers talk a bit before they settled down.

“Oh, and Donnie,” Raph hummed sleepily. “We are so having a conversation when we wake up.”

A bonus links update means it's time for more comic analysis with me! :D

So before I move on I wanna mention these red strings. Having gone back through the comic they seem to appear when something to do with the Curse shows up. Either Loft is talking about/feeling guilty about.

Or one of the heroes appears.

Do we know if Loft can see these strings or are they just for us? Cause if he can see them himself then this must be so damn stressful for him. It's not a, oh this guy came to help, it oh this guy is this time's hero.

I could build a separate post about the red strings as I've got a list of when they all appear and might do that rather than hide it in here.

Let me know if you'd be interested in reading that, if I get enough interest I'll build a post about the strings.

Wake is out here already gathering information, Something tells me that Wake is gonna have one of the brain cells in this group. Even if he does pirate vibes it around from time to time.

Not him asking where they've come from because he's already spotted the master sword. He's not looking at Loft here, He's looking past loft.

His eyes! He's spotted the master sword, Hes spotted the master sword. This panel makes me so unbelievably excited.

And instead of beating around the bush he just straight up asks which I can appreciate. Loft looks so nervous in this panel too. We know that Loft has seen the master sword sink under the waves so I can only assume that he's getting nervous about that.

Maybe he thinks Wake sunk the master sword himself? Rather than stabbing it into Ganon's head.

Thinking about it more it could also be because Loft knows that this is another hero. Again back to the strings thing...

It's nice to see the optimism again. Wake you my friend are going to be the optimistic friend of this little team they are building.

A GUIDE ON HOW TO STUDY EFFICIENTLY

Hey girls!! I know a lot of us are on break, whether that be in high school, college or university, so I figured I could maybe show you guys some tips and tricks that have helped me throughout my studies…

A little bit about my educational background:

-In high school, I was part of an IB school (the girls that know the struggle, know the struggle). If you don’t know what that is, it’s essentially a program designed to help students get a better understanding of the world and how it works. We basically do the regular high school program + the IB one, so it’s extra workload, but we do get an additional diploma at the end of our studies!

-I am now in college, studying psychology and I was recently invited to join the honors roll for my next semester (super excited about that!!). I absolutely love it and i’ve also gotten the opportunity to study other subjects such as anthropology, world history, art history, etc.

1. LEARNING WHAT TO PRIORITIZE

My biggest weakness throughout my first semester of college was balancing my workload and my social activities. Often times, I would either only do school work for weeks and not go out or simply go out until very late on school nights and get nothing done. Both scenarios are just as negative. I would be drained on the inside, and simply become exhausted by minimal activities. What helped me personally was establishing a clear schedule, which I know isn’t ideal for everyone as we all have differing schedules, but trust me, having that base helps A LOT.

2. SETTING REMINDERS TO STUDY

I dont know if this was just me, but in high school, I would constantly fall asleep and take naps after school. This would result in me totally forgetting I had to study when I woke up… Setting up reminders on my phone helped me remember what I had to do. I also included little motivational messages to keep me inspired to work.

3. KNOWING WHEN TO PUT THE BOOK DOWN

Girls, I know how hard it is sometimes to give yourself grace and put your study books down, especially when there’s a big test coming up. However, it has been proven that over reading or over studying actually has negative effects on your learning/memory. Stressing yourself out will do nothing but put you in a negative state, which is not what you want going into that exam. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, put the book down for 15 minutes and go do something that puts you at peace. Me personally, I make myself a cup of peppermint tea and put on my favorite show.

4. HAVING A STUDY METHOD THAT WORKS FOR YOU

There are many different types of study methods, so I’m not gonna tell you which one you should do as we are all different, but finding the one that works for you does ALL the difference. The way I study is very simple, I establish a game plan (I list everything I want to complete) and I give myself a time frame to complete it. The time frames are always very realistic for me, so I never have to stress about not having enough time. For each “task” I complete, I allow myself a 15-20 minute break and I study for no more than 3 hours at a time.

5. NEVER PUT STUDYING BEHIND

I am such a procrastinator, but I had to learn very quickly, especially in college, that this was not possible. The work load is so much more charged and I simply cannot get away with studying last minute. If you’re in high school, start implementing healthy study habits now, so that once you reach college, you’re already used to studying the right way (learn from me hahaha)!

I am 100% sure that there are more I’m forgetting, but these are the main ones I implement in order to keep a high average and a healthy school/social life :) I know these are very basic and you’ve probably heard of them before but I still think it’s important we talk about them to remind ourselves on what to do!
