Suguru can't cycle // A rough route
Pairing: Niragi x reader
Warnings: weapons, specifically guns, death, small yandere themes, clingy behaviour (idk if that needs one but hey), it does turn a little dark in the end
A/N: Ok, so I decided to rewrite the last part a bit. It's not that I don't like it, it's just not fitting the more that I think about it. I think the mood turned way too quickly. I will keep the original in there for everyone who liked it the way it was, but now more will be able to enjoy this piece (hopefully).
REGISTRATION CLOSED
THE GAME WILL NOW COMMENCE
GAME ''BIKE RIDE''
DIFFICULTY - TWO OF HEARTS
RULES: THE FIRST FIVE BICYCLES TO PASS THE FINISH LINE WIN.
CONDITION: PASS THE FINISH LINE WITHIN THE TIME LIMIT.
TIME LIMIT: 30:00
Before registration closed, you had examined your opponents thoroughly. Nine others. Three younger girls with an unexperienced look, a man who had the looks of a teacher and five.. well, five men who were armed and looked like danger himself. Best to keep away from them.
You had two minutes counting down in which you could pick a bike and prepare yourself at the starting line. As you were about to grab one of the bikes out of the lineup, somebody came awfully close with their whole figure towering over you from behind. What do you thin-
A muzzle is prodded against my back. Dammit I can't move now.
''You have to take me with you on your bike.'' A voice whispered against your ear. And by how their teeth were gritted when they spoke, it was more a demand rather than a request.
''What would be in that for me?'' A quite logical response in your head. You were mostly hoping they would just move that gun away from you.
''I will guarantee your safety.''
You were obviously talking to one of the five men. Taking him with you would mean that you were going to be part of the first five. Your head was going to be earlier over the finish line than his. There were no downsides to this, right?
''Could you remove your arm from my waist?!''
''Look honey if you want to win this I'm going to have to take out the other players first.''
You could feel the kickback of his rifle by how he moved his chest off your back. Every time, the coolness of the wind would hit your shoulder if his pecs moved away from the spot. Oh, this guy is too close, too clingy,-
''Got one!''
One of the girls was set tumbling along the pavement.
The voice in your pocket reminded you how you had twenty minutes remaining. Then you could dump this crazy guy off your back and be done with this game.
''Well, we still got fifteen minutes, why don't you tell me your name darling?''
Is he kidding?! ''Well, maybe you need to take out mister teacher out there first! He looks like he's only quickening his pace and it's probably because of your mockery from before!''
''I was only encouraging him!''
''By saying you were going to aim for his ass if he wasn't giving his all?!''
''So, now a little introduction is in place. After all, the one keeping you safe has got the right to know don't you think? It hurts that I already know you for seventeen minutes and that I have nothing to call you by.''
''Is that why you were using pet names this whole time?''
''Now now love don't be so defensive. I'll go first. My name is Niragi. Now it's your turn.''
''My name is Y/N.''
Around ten minutes left. No other opponents to worry about. Your victory for the night was sealed. It had given you some headspace. Why was this, this game, why was it a hearts game? Deciding who was going to finish first, was that worth a hearts game? For all you know, this would have made so much more sense if it had been the two of spades. Then why hearts?
''What were the rules of this game again?''
''Weren't you listening to my story? I was telling you-''
''Just tell me what the rules are please!''
''The first five people to pass the finish line win, it's pretty easy darling. I'm going to shoot one of my dummies right before the finish line for you, they only don't know it yet.''
''Oh shit. You don't have to.''
Something in your mind had clicked the moment he said those rules out loud. Those weren't the actual rules. That happy little filthy computer voice had only told you that the first five bicycles to pass were accounted as the winners of that game. Not people. That's why it was hearts game. There was that little twist. All ten of us could have made it if they all did the same as Niragi and you. Then five bikes would have passed the finish line and ten of you. It was so silly.
''Really princess, are you sure this works like that?''
''Stop it. You know my real name. And yes, I'm willing to bet my life on that.''
''How can I protect you if you're like this!'' He nuzzled up against you.
This feels off. I thought the news would make him distance himself more. Instead he decides to get closer than he already was, and so sudden as well. I almost forgot how uncomfortable it had felt in the beginning. But now that feeling is back.
GAME CLEARED. CONGRATULATIONS.
Ok, it's done. This is done. I'm just going to walk off and hope I never have to fight against these people ever again.
Niragi came up from behind you again when you were about to walk off, just like he had done in thirty minutes ago. Luckily no gun this time.
''Where do you think you're going?''
''What do mean? The game is over.''
''I was going to guarantee your safety, don't you remember that? How could I do that if you walked away? No, I'm going to take you with me. Safe with me.''
You were screaming. You were pulled into his car. Where did they get working cars? Niragi was taking you with him to wherever he was residing. And you resisted with all your might.
''You're going to be safe with me.''
GAME CLEARED. CONGRATULATIONS.
Ok. All this weirdness is over. I can just walk off and live a few more days.
Niragi came up from behind you (again).
''Remember what I promised you earlier?'' His hand was on your shoulder. The clinginess was still there.
''Yeah?''
''Well.. I was going to protect you?''
''Yeahh??''
''Come on then, let me take me to my spot. And before you refuse, The beach can provide you with daily meals and showers, and of course, I'm there. Oh and I'm making sure you're getting special treatment, this guy here is in the position to do so.'' He told you as he pointed his thumb towards himself. Is he really showing off right now?
You had turned around from his grip during his long rant about his hideout that was called the beach (at least, that's what you assumed, I mean, would he really take you to a literal beach?). It felt like the same decision as before, only on a larger scale. It wasn't the worst offer..
He offered his hand. You could just walk off, but maybe.. Niragi could be of great worth. Better to have him on your side and let him do his thing. Plus, showers, food.
You took his hand as he led you back to his group of people. Back to their car (like yes, working car). As he held the back door open for you, he whispered something in your ear right when you climbed in the car.
''I will never break this deal y/n.''

Summary: Barry opens up to you after a rough hit.
Pairing: Barry Berkman x hitman!girlfriend reader
Tumblr media
It’s late in the night and you have just arrived at Barry's apartment building. Your boyfriend asked you to come over after his hit. You two were texting throughout the day until he left for the job. He stopped responding after that. You’ve called and texted a few times to no avail, but you’re not concerned. You assume that Barry had accidentally left his phone on Do Not Disturb.
As you walk towards your boyfriend’s apartment, you see his car parked in its designated spot. He has to be home. When you reach Barry’s front door, it appears that no lights are on inside. You raise your eyebrows. Something seems off.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
You wait for a moment. No answer. Then you tap on one of his windows. Still nothing.
Now you’re worried...
You reach into your purse, pulling out a little lock pick. You easily unlock Barry’s door and open it as quietly as possible.
The apartment is pitch black. You cautiously walk inside. After taking a few steps, you put your hand on the closest wall and blindly search for the light switch.
CREAK
“Barry?” you call out your boyfriend’s name just as you find the switch.
The light suddenly flicks on and the first thing you see is Barry standing at the other side of the room, with his gun pointed at you.
Barry’s eyes widen. He immediately drops the weapon to his side.
“What the fuck, Y/N?” Barry breathes.
He looks completely exhausted, jagged and weak. There is a large bruise forming underneath his left eye.
“Oh my God, Barry! What happened to your face?” you rush towards him.
Barry shakes his head, ignoring your question.
“What are you doing here? I could’ve shot you.”
“You asked me to come over after your hit,” you remind him.
“So you broke into my place?” Barry asks.
“I knocked but you didn’t answer,” you explain, “I was worried about you. And it’s not my fault that your place is like super easy to break into.”
“That still doesn’t give you the right to do it,” Barry argues.
“I know. I’m sorry,” you apologize, “I was just worried-”
“Yeah, you said that,” Barry impatiently replies.
You sigh, putting your hands up in defeat.
“Ok, Barry, you win. I know when I’m not wanted. I’m gonna leave.”
You’re about to walk out when Barry takes your hand.
“Wait!”
You turn to face Barry. His facial expression softens.
“I’m sorry for freaking out. I just wasn’t…. I forgot that I invited you over. Please don’t go. I want you to stay,” your boyfriend tries.
There’s a quiet desperation in the tone of his voice. He actually really doesn’t want to be alone right now.
You take a deep breath and lightly squeeze his hand. You’re not going anywhere.
“Can you tell me what happened?” you nod to his black eye.
“One of my targets tried to fight back and knock me out. It didn’t work,” Barry shyly explains.
You give him a confused look.
“One of your targets? How many did you have?” you question him.
“I think there were like five dudes in the stash house,” Barry says quietly.
Your jaw drops.
“Barry, that’s not a hit. That’s a raid.”
He knows you’re right. When Barry first heard about the job from Fuches, he thought it was crazy and possibly suicidal.
“I didn’t want any part of it. Fuches put it together with the Chechens… I couldn’t really say no,” Barry shrugs.
The Chechens wanted Barry to take out a small Bolivian stash house, killing everyone inside. They plan on taking it over.
Barry had no idea how many people would be in the stash house when he raided it. He considers himself lucky that the Bolivians didn’t have any more men there. He can’t believe he made it out in one piece.
“This was Fuches’ idea?” you scoff, shaking your head in disbelief.
And then-
“Why didn’t you say anything to me? You just acted like it was a routine hit.”
Barry looks down at his feet, “I, uh, I don’t know.”
You gently rest your hands on Barry’s shoulders, keeping him close.
“Hey, look at me,” you try.
Barry reluctantly looks up.
“Are you okay?”
Barry is quiet for a beat. He doesn’t remember the last time somebody asked him that question. He stares into your eyes, you look genuinely concerned. You care about him.
“Yeah, uh, I just really hate what I do sometimes. I don’t like hurting people and I don’t want to die doing this. I don’t want this to be all that I am,” your boyfriend confides.
“I understand. I don’t want to keep doing this for the rest of my life either,” you quietly agree.
You’ve never admitted the truth out loud before. You exhale, as if you're taking a weight off your chest.
The two of you share a moment of comfortable silence, before you break it-
“We can’t lie to each other like we do with everyone else. If this relationship is going to work, we need to be honest.”
Barry nods his head. He understands.
You pull Barry into a protective hug. He hugs you back tightly. He doesn’t want to let you go. You kiss his cheek, then rest your forehead on his.
“I’m really glad you came over tonight,” Barry tells you.
“I’m really glad you didn’t shoot me,” you tease.
“How about I get you a key to my place?” Barry offers, “That way, you won’t have to break in next time.”
You smile, “I like that idea.”

7 Secrets <pt. 11>
Tumblr media
GENRE: Soulmate!au BTS!
WARNINGS: whole lot of uwu that’s what
WORD COUNT: 4.8k
I just...no words. I’ve been wanting to get to this point for a hot minute now, so I’m glad we’ve made it. No, this isn’t quite the end. Although we’re getting there. *cue tears* Have a happy halloween this weekend! <3
By the time we make it back to the house it’s nearly evening, seeing as Jin decided to take a detour and get lost. Kyung-soon didn’t mind, she took the opportunity to re-listen to Seventeen’s new album. And then listen to it again.
We’re nearly there when we get a call from Taehyung. Jin puts it on the car speakerphone.
“Hyung! Where are you?”
“We’ve been lost, that’s where-” Jin cuts Kyung-soon off with glare.
“We were hiking and enjoying the island. We’ll be there in ten minutes. Are you guys getting ready to eat?”
As if on cue my stomach growls. Our last meal was this morning, and the granola bars have only held up for so long.
“Yeah, we’re finishing up with the food now. Guess what we’re doing tonight, though?”
A few voices can be heard in the background. It sounds like utter chaos at the house. The sound of it brings a smile to my face.
“What? What are we doing?”
“Production team just finished editing the final episode! We’re going to project it on the side of the house and watch it!”
I nearly choke, Kyung-soon turning around and staring at me in horror. Namjoon chuckles, patting me on the back while I recover.
“That was...fast.” I mumble. The production crew must have been working overtime in order to finish up the final episode so we could watch it on our trip.
Kyung-soon is in the middle of involuntarily cringing. “Oh no, this is going to be horrible. So cringey.”
I nod in agreement, Jin reaching over to grab Kyung-soon’s hand. The houses pop up in the distance - we’re almost there.
“Just pretend that it’s somebody else,” Jin tries to reassure his soulmate. “I promise, it’s really not bad. We were thoroughly entertained.” He grins at Namjoon through the rear-view mirror.
“Yeah, and besides, you guys have seen plenty of weird content from us. Consider this an even playing field.” Namjoon adds.
“Ok, I’ll see you - huh? Oh, Ichika says hi. Alright, see you in a second.” Taehyung cuts the call.
The side of the boys’ house has turned into a temporary movie screen. Taehyung is in the process of popping popcorn while Jungkook and Jimin are giving a detailed overview of three years worth of episodes.
I think they’ve forgotten that we were very much a part of those three years. After all, it is a documentary about us.
Aera sits beside Minsuh, the two of them grinning like cheshire cats at their soulmates. They look like they’re thinking the same thing that I am.
“Yah, so where did the last episode leave off?” Aera questions, raising her eyebrows at Jimin.
“What, you don’t remember what happened two weeks ago?” Himari asks, chuckling.
Aera shrugs her shoulders. “It’s been a busy week for all of us, I can hardly remember what happened two days ago.”
Namjoon emerges from the house, a couple of blankets in hand. His eyes scan the small crowd before landing on me where I stand beside Seohyun. I’ve been trying to get a feel for how her and Yoongi’s conversation went earlier, but I don’t dare ask anything too direct with Yoongi right there. He holds her hand, looking content as she explains how she tried and failed at painting.
“Where did the last episode leave off, Joon-ah?” Hoseok asks when Jimin and Jungkook have a hard time remembering the finer details. Namjoon is in the process of spreading a blanket out on the ground, motioning for me to come over.
“Umm…” He chews on the inside of his cheek for a moment before snapping his fingers. “Aera had just pitched her new designs, and everybody made dinner for her when she got home. Then they were just getting Beth’s room ready for her to come back.”
Aera blinks as though just remembering that she has an actual job. A job she’s really, really good at.
“I can’t believe you forgot about that!” Aera feigns offense and Jimin freezes in his spot, eyes wide. “That’s my whole career we’re talking about, Jimin!”
Jungkook gives his friend a pat on the shoulder before walking over to plop into the seat beside Minsuh.
“I-I remember it now…” Jimin pouts, looking at his soulmate with puppy eyes. Aera glares at him, never one to give in easily. In fact, Aera is the fiercest when it comes to these kinds of things.
If I remember correctly, I’ve heard the boys state on several occasions that Jimin is absolutely terrifying when he’s mad.
“Hey,” Namjoon grabs my attention from the show up front. “Wanna sit? I got us an extra blanket for if we get cold.”
“Perfect.” I settle down on the blanket, laughing as Jimin tries his best to escape Aera’s wrath. She’s currently moving his chair to the opposite end, as far away from her as possible.
Minsuh turns around to look at me, her eyebrows wiggling mischievously. “Are you ready for this cringefest?”
Namjoon chuckles, settling down beside me. The butterflies in my stomach kick things up into high gear just from sitting beside him. He checks the time on his phone, his new background pulling my attention away for a moment.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” I sigh. Namjoon places a comforting hand on my knee, smiling at me when he realizes that I’m looking at his lock screen.
“It really is that bad usually. I swear.” I roll my eyes, knowing a lie when I hear one. “Hey,” he nudges me. “Let’s see your new phone background.”
I excitedly fish my phone out of my pocket, already chuckling at the thought of our candid photo. Showing it to Namjoon, Minsuh and Jungkook wander over to see what we’re laughing about.
“Oh my gosh, that’s so cute!” Minsuh gushes, laughing at me. “I’m guessing you learned today that Beth is terrified of heights?”
Namjoon nods, shooting me a pitiful look. “I sure did. I’m pretty sure she bruised one of my ribs in the process.”
Jungkook proceeds to ask Namjoon about the hike, sounding like he wants to venture out there tomorrow. Jin and Kyung-soon come back out with Tae and Ichika, all of them carrying a couple of bowls each filled to the brim with popcorn.
“Movie time!” Jimin shouts from where he and Aera disappeared around the house. A moment later he appears with his chair in one hand and lugging a disgruntled Aera along with the other.
As soon as all the popcorn is distributed Yoongi flips on the projector from the back. A moment later the song “Psycho” by RedVelvet blasts through the speakers, and the episode begins.
“Oh my gosh, I can’t believe they actually made that the theme song!” Seohyun shouts, already laughing as she and Minsuh appear on screen. Little title cards appear above their heads from where they study in the library, lost in their textbooks. I grin, all of this appearing a little surreal.
“I can’t believe we actually have a theme song!” Himari says. She’s the next one in the opening credits, trying and failing to flip a pancake. “Oh, come on, that’s how they introduce me?” Hoseok laughs beside her, his eyes darting from the screen back to his soulmate.
Next is Ichika, and I notice Taehyung scooting a little closer to her and she hides behind her hands. She’s opening the door to the apartment, her lopsided smile greeting the cameraman as she invites the cameras inside.
“This is the best part!” Jimin shouts.
The cameras follow Ichika inside the apartment and catch their next victim for the opening credits: Aera.
She’s clearly in a rush, probably running late for work. Careening down the stairs she freezes once she sees the camera, quickly pushing her hair out of her face as she waves before rushing out the door.
“See, told you it was the best part,” Jimin mumbles, Aera dissolving into a fit of giggles beside him.
Namjoon scoots closer, adjusting so that his right shoulder is just behind me. “Ready for the next part?” I can hear the smile in his voice.
Kyung-soon and I appear on screen, and I can hear my friend groaning from where she sits with Jin. We share a look across the way.
We’re sitting on the couch in the living room, locked in an intense game of rock, paper, scissors. Kyung-soon wins, and she throws her hands up in triumph right as our title cards appear. I get up wordlessly, walking straight out the door.
Despite how strange it is to be watching the documentary after all this time, I find myself shaking with laughter. Maybe we are kind of entertaining to watch, after all.
“Do you remember what we were playing for?” Kyung-soon asks me.
“I think it was over who had to call the takeout place.”
She laughs, returning her attention to the screen. I find myself avidly watching as well.
Episode basically from here until just before the end, enjoy! (actions/dialogue in real time will appear in as normal text, whereas the documentary is in italics)
Himari and Aera sit in the kitchen, both of them staring down at their breakfast. Himari glances up at Aera, noticing her worried expression.
“I’m sure they’ll call you soon. Anybody who turns you down is a complete idiot.”
Aera nods, not saying anything. Jimin reaches out to hold Aera’s hand. Minsuh comes in from down the hall, stretching.
“Morning,” she says around a yawn. “Any news A?”
Himari answers for her friend. “Not yet. What do you have going on today?”
Minsuh reaches for a bowl, waving at the kitchen camera like she does every morning. “Nothing much. I think Seohyun and I are going to study for a while, she’s going to help me prep for an exam I’ve got coming up. What about you guys?”
“Ichika and I have lessons. Want to join us, Aera? Brush up on your Japanese?”
“No,” Aera shakes her head. “I’m going to start getting Beth’s room ready.”
“Oh!” Himari grabs her phone from her back pocket. “That reminds me, I have to call that little punk.”
I gasp at Himari, my friend giving me a shy smile and shrugging.
Himari places the phone on speaker while the other two girls quietly eat their food and wait for me to answer.
“Was this the day before I flew out?” I ask no one in particular.
“Yeah, I think so.” Himari responds. Suddenly my voice cuts through the audio, and I physically cringe. Namjoon chuckles, reaching a hand up to steady me as I rock back against his chest.
“I knew you were going to call me,” I say, and Himari rolls her eyes while Minsuh snickers. “What’s up?”
“Are you all packed and ready to go?” Himari asks.
“Yeah, I think so. My flight leaves in...six hours. I’ll start heading to the airport in a couple of hours so I get there on time.”
“Hey, when’s the last time you logged anything?”
It’s silent on my side of the line for a while. “Er...a while.”
“Do I even want to know?”
“No, probably not.”
“Well this is me calling you and telling you to do your log before you leave. BigHit sent us some of those questions, answer them if you don’t know what to say.” My voice starts to cut in but Himari cuts me off. “I mean it! If you don’t I’m making sure you sleep on the couch when you get here.”
My sigh is audible, Aera looks up at Minsuh with the ghost of a smile.
“Ok, will do. I’ll log it as soon as I get off this call. How is everybody?”
Minsuh pipes up. “Hey Beth! We’re good!”
“Am I on speaker? Hey Min! Who else is there?”
“Just me,” Aera says, leaning closer to the phone. “I’m about to clean up your room so there aren’t any cobwebs. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you, B. I miss you.”
“Aw, I miss you too A. You don’t have to worry about my room...but make sure nobody has stolen my Jeju Island photo. Where’s everybody else?”
The camera jumps to another location, answering my very question. Kyung-soon is walking up to a nice looking apartment, double checking some files before kindly greeting a couple. She must have had a client.
Again the camera jumps, this time to a different continent where I’m settling down before my camera as I record my first log in months. I’m sitting at my kitchen island in my apartment back in the states, a picture of all the girls and I hanging on the wall behind me.
“Hello camera, it’s me again. Sorry for not logging in a while, I’ve been busy. And now I’m about to leave in a couple of hours to catch my flight to Seoul.” I look at my phone before me, reading something off of it. “This will be pretty quick, but I’ve got some of the questions BigHit sent me, so I’ll try to answer a few before I have to leave. Sound good?”
I scroll through the list of questions, eyebrows furrowed as I try to find a good one. “Hmm, it looks like these have gotten more and more personal over the years. I guess I’ll go with this one: ‘what do you look forward to the most returning to Seoul?’”
Shuffling in my seat I bite my lip as I stare down the camera. “I think I just get excited to be back with everybody. I know I don’t usually say anything like this, but I really miss them when I’m gone. I’m kind of stranded out here in the states. It’s hard to be here and know that all six of them get to stay together while I jump around from place to place. At least I’ll get to stay for a solid six months this time around, maybe more. Just depends.”
Namjoon fidgets behind me until he’s directly behind me. Slowly he pulls me back against his chest until I’m laying with my head tucked under his chin.
“Wow, this one’s intense. Should I just answer it? I doubt anybody will actually ever watch this. I feel like my logs are pretty boring. It says, ‘if you could go back and say anything to yourself three years ago, what would you say?’”
I lean back against my chair, pushing my hair out of the way. “I’m not sure I would really say much. There was just so much going on, it was information overload. I remember when I woke up the next morning, I thought everything was a dream. My sister had no clue, so I just left her a note and left our hotel to go on a run.” I laugh a little, recalling the memory. “I probably looked so crazy! This white girl running around Seoul like a maniac. I finally got to a point where I stopped, and finally was starting to calm down. Then, ha! Oh my gosh I remember this like it was yesterday, seriously. I checked my phone and saw that I had a notification from Weverse. It said ‘RM commented on so and so’s post’ and I lost it. Right there in the middle of this random park I started bawling. I was so overwhelmed.”
Namjoon’s grip tightens on me, and I take a deep breath. I’d honestly forgotten that I’d even done this log, I really didn’t think they’d put it into the documentary.
“So if I could go back to three years ago, I think I’d go to that moment and just give myself a hug. I was so terrified and had nobody to talk to. I’d hug myself, and say, you figure out how to keep moving forward. Just enjoy the ride, because it’s a crazy one.”
The screen fades out, my voice still narrating as I talk over the others girls’ actions. Kyung-soon is helping that couple to sign some paperwork.
“It’s definitely been crazy, but I’m better because of it.” I narrate and Kyung-soon gives an award winning smile to the couple, saying her goodbyes before heading back to her car.
Now we’re watching Minsuh laugh about something with Himari in the kitchen.
“I don’t want to think about where I’d be without my soul sisters, they mean so much to me. I really never thought I’d meet people as amazing as them in my life.”
Aera is in my room, sweeping and straightening my photo of Jeju Island.
“Sometimes I still wonder if there’s been a huge mistake and I’ll get a call from BigHit saying that I don’t actually have a soulmate. Things are so good that I think they may be too good.”
Seohyun jogs in a park, making faces at the camera each time she passes in front of it.
“But I’ll just keep living this dream for as long as fate will let me.”
Ichika struggles up the stairs to the apartment, grocery bags all over the place. The camera shakes as it’s set on the ground, and the cameraman assisting her.
“And as for the last question for this log… ‘if you could say a single sentence to your soulmate, what would you say?’”
Suddenly we’re back in my apartment, where I give a side smile to the camera.
“Hey Namjoon, wanna go out sometime?” Winking at the camera I lean up and turn it off.
The screen goes black, and then words cut across the screen.
Final Installment- Episode 132 “Finally.”
Everybody comes back to life as the introduction to the final episode ends and the rest of the episode starts up. Namjoon leans down to whisper in my ear.
“I’m sorry for making you cry in the park that morning.”
I shake my head. “I can’t believe you’re apologizing for that and not for trying to kill me earlier.”
My body shakes with Namjoon’s laugh, and we settle down to continue watching the documentary before us.
Kyung-soon stands in the living room with a huge mass of balloons before her. Minsuh comes up behind her, staring in awe.
“That’s a lot of balloons.”
Kyung-soon nods, biting her bottom lip. “Do you think it’s too much?”
“No, I think it looks great. Just, how are we going to get them into the car?”
“I have no idea.”
The two of them discuss possible game plans as Himari wanders in looking at her phone.
“Ok everyone! She’s over the ocean between us and Japan. We should probably get going. Wow,” she finally notices the balloons. “Looks good, Soon-ah. Don’t fly away, though. Seokjin would be so upset.”
Footsteps sound as the other three girls come in, each one’s attention going straight to the balloons.
“Ha! That’s amazing.” Ichika says. “She’s going to die when she sees that.”
The scene cuts to the airport, the girls anxiously waiting at the bottom of the stairs. Himari once again checks her phone for my flight information.
“It says that the flight landed fifteen minutes ago, she should be here any second.”
Aera nudges her. “Yah, you’re acting like your long lost lover has finally returned.”
Himari raises her eyebrows. “And?”
“Oh, there she is!” Seohyun shouts, and sure enough I appear on camera. Hat down low and a mask on I wave at everyone. A few people pause to look at all the commotion before continuing on.
Namjoon whispers to me again. “You look like a celebrity with your hat and mask.”
I chuckle, watching my reunion with the girls that only happened earlier this week. “I felt like one, too.”
My soulmate lets out a breathy laugh when the girls start teasing me, asking me what my reaction would be if he were the one to pick me up from the airport.
“You know, I’ve noticed that you’re really good at avoiding teasing.”
“I’ve had lots of practice.”
The documentary skips to our apartment, the girls hanging out in the living room debating whether or not to wake me up or let me sleep.
“I’m going to wake her up, she’s probably starving.” Aera says, and Minsuh follows her out of the room. The other girls remain in the room, Seohyun talking about one of her classes.
I nearly fall asleep in Namjoon’s arms, it’s so comfy. What brings me out of my stupor is the distinct sound of Seohyun’s rendition of “Mic Drop” and everybody laughing along with her.
I watch as we enjoy the show, Kyung-soon announcing to everyone that we’re going on ahead. Suddenly I jolt up, Namjoon jumping at the sudden movement. I remember what comes after this.
“What’s wrong?” Namjoon asks. “Did you see a bug?”
“No…” My attention is pulled into the documentary as Kyung-soon and I quietly converse. “It’s just - that was a hard night for me. That’s all.”
I can feel Namjoon’s eyes assessing me but I refuse to look at him for fear of him seeing right through me.
“If you’re uncomfortable we can go inside,” he offers.
Finally I look over to him. He calmly returns my gaze, awaiting my answer.
“I think I’m fine for now. Just, don’t judge me, ok?”
Namjoon nods fervently. “Never.” Extending his arms out, he pulls me back into his chest. “Let me know if you want to leave, and we’ll go.”
Kyung-soon and I appear on the balcony of our apartment, where we both study the stars above us.
“I can’t-”
“You have to. Beth, please don’t lock us out and keep all of these feelings to yourself. You don’t have to tell us every little thing, but you need to talk about it. Just because you don’t say it out loud doesn’t mean that you won’t feel scared or worried anymore.”
The tension is palpable as my sobs cut through the silence. I’m pretty sure Namjoon stopped breathing.
“I look at our boys, and I feel like they’re already complete. They have each other, they have ARMY, they’re complete. They have no idea that soulmates are even a thing, let alone that they have soulmates. There’s a part of me that’s mad about that. Mad that for the last three years I’ve been waiting for a man that is already happy without me, that is already more loved that he can even fathom. Mad at freaking Mr. Bang, because he refuses to tell them until the ‘time is right’. It’s been three years! And I’ve picked myself back up and tried my hardest to continue on in my career, and it’s fulfilling. I have the most amazing friends in the world, my family is so loving and supportive, and I love my job. So why do I feel so lonely?”
Namjoon wraps his arms around me tightly, and I feel that strange ache in my chest again. This time, though, it aches and aches until it cracks. With it, come the tears.
Like a dam come undone the tears flow from my eyes as the echoes of my sobs from the documentary cut through the night. Namjoon holds me tighter, tighter until he’s all I can feel.
“You know what, come here.” Namjoon says, his voice thick. He stands, pulling me up with him. We’re near the back, so nobody really notices us as Namjoon pulls me away. He leads me around my beach house until we’re completely blocked from view. The audio from the documentary follows me, and I keep my eyes trained on the ground as the tears blur my vision.
Namjoon finally comes to a stop, his hands resting firmly on my shoulders. I can’t bring myself to look up at him, thoroughly humiliated at one of my most vulnerable moments being on full display.
“Beth, look at me.” I shake my head, angrily wiping away my tears. He reaches up to catch a tear as it rolls down my cheek. “Look at me. Please.”
Again I shake my head, completely mortified at the situation I’m in. Wasn’t this supposed to be a fun trip? Worry-free?
“Ok, that’s ok. You don’t have to.” Namjoon moves to grab my shoulders again. “I just need you to listen to me. Can you do that for me?”
I clench my teeth as I nod, trying so hard to keep in my sobs.
“Alright. I am so-” his voice cracks and he takes a moment before speaking again. “I am so sorry, Beth. For all of it. For making you feel that way. I wish - I just wish we could have avoided all that heartache and pain. You were so strong, for so long. You still are, I can see that. From the second we first met I saw that you are strong and the most incredible person to ever walk the earth. I might be a bit biased,” I croak out a laugh which seems to spur him on, “but nobody can change my mind about you. I was lonely, too. Did you know that? Even with all the love I receive every day, I’m still lonely. Do you know how infuriating that is?”
Steeling my nerves I peak up at him. My heart twists further when I see the tears running down my soulmate’s face. He continues on, paying them no mind.
“I felt like there was something so wrong with me, but I learned with time that it’s normal. Everybody feels lonely. It’s a horrible feeling, and confusing sometimes. Especially when it feels like you have every reason to be happy. But we’re human. This is part of our human experience, as much as it sucks. Beth,” Namjoon rests a hand under my chin when my eyes fall again, gently urging me to look up at him. “I don’t feel alone anymore. That’s because of you. Just seeing you, I feel like everything is going to be alright. Do you see how amazing that is? I’m not lonely anymore. Please, Beth.” He releases a shaky breath, the earnestness in his eyes bringing a fresh wave of tears to my eyes. “Let me try. I don’t want you to feel alone anymore. Let me in,” Namjoon gestures to his heart, “and I swear I’ll never leave.”
Staring up at him, I know he’s telling the truth. I can tell he means every word he’s saying. But I have to know. I have to ask.
“You’ve been promising a lot of things,” I mutter, inhaling sharply as the tears rush down my face. “Are you sure you can keep all your promises? Please, Namjoon. Please don’t promise me something you can’t keep.”
Gently brushing the tears from my face, Namjoon leans in. Slowly, and close enough that I can see the light reflected in the tears still on his face. My heart, limp and weak as it may be, jumps at the close proximity.
“Do you mind if I make another promise?” Namjoon whispers before his lips brush up against my cheek. I freeze as he licks the salty mixture from his lips before moving to the other side.
“N-no,” I mumble.
Just there, the only warning I have is the feeling of his warm breath before he sweetly kisses away the remaining tears on my other cheek.
He pulls away just enough to look into my eyes. “I promise that I will never make you a promise that I cannot keep.”
Eyes drifting down to my mouth he tilts my head up ever so slightly. My eyes drift shut of their own accord, the only thing keeping me tied to the earth being Namjoon’s hands that hold me like I may break at any moment.
The first brush of his lips takes my breath away, the feeling so light that I wonder for a brief moment if this isn’t all just in my head.
Slowly he deepens the kiss, just enough for the salty tang of my tears on his lips to seep into my senses. The bittersweet taste has me reaching out to him, hands fisting the material over his chest. I cling to my soulmate as he clings to me, and even the world slows for a moment in order to accommodate this moment. Fate has never been my friend, but in this sliver of time I feel that it has been uncommonly kind to me.
By the time we pull away, resting our foreheads together, the ache in my heart has subsided. Namjoon’s hands slide down to my waist, holding me in place. As if I’d go anywhere.
I look up at my soulmate only to find his eyes still shut, drinking in the moment. Taking the precious seconds fate has given me, I study him out. Bliss suits him.
As though feeling my gaze, his eyes slide open. A small smile crosses his features, and the word that I have come to associate with Kim Namjoon over the past couple of days reappears in my mind’s eye, hanging over us like the stars in the sky.
Perfect.

Chapter summary: The time travelers have to figure out who's behind the creature snatching people up while working with Liz 10 and in the end, Gabby has to urge Amy to look past the Time Lords’ anger to see what they’re truly all about.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The entire group had fallen into the chute and were thrown out only to land in a splash somewhere full of oddly colored liquid. The Doctor jumped back on his feet soon as he got his bearings, though he noted the flooring underneath was a bit odd. He flashed the sonic around to see where exactly the chute had brought them to.
"High-speed air cannon. Lousy way to travel!"
Renata thrashed the water before getting up. "You have got to stop throwing us down things when you've no idea where they lead!" She made a show by splashing some water to the side.
Despite knowing she was properly upset, the Doctor found it much too funny to be serious. She was covered in whatever liquid they'd landed in - he suspected a food refuse judging by the smell - and so all of her hair was sticking to her face. Her dress was pressed against her body again, something he'd begun to accept would be his downfall one day. She was trying to be angry but she kept scrunching her face and yelling about the horrible stench around them. Her kicking the food refuse was just a plus!
Yup. Completely, adorably, funny.
"Doctor, where are we?" Gabby was close to gagging with the odor around them.
"600 feet down, 20 miles laterally - puts us at the heart of the ship. I'd say... Lancashire. What's this, then - a cave? Can't be a cave. Looks like a cave!"
"WHO CARES WHAT IT IS! GET US OUT!" Renata shivered excessively. She might just throw up there and then.
Amy was still on her knees beside them. She kept touching the ground. "It's a rubbish dump, and it's minging!"
"Yes, but only food refuse!" the Doctor Doctor confirmed, not that it would make it better. "Organic, coming through feeder tubes from all over the ship."
"You are so dead," Renata threw him a murderous glare he chose to ignore.
"The floor's all squidgy, like a water bed," Amy pointed out. She'd been trying to figure out how best to describe what she felt and that was as close as it would get.
"But feeding what, though?" the Doctor asked while he took another read off the sonic.
"It's sort of rubbery, feel it. Wet and slimy!"
"Uh, Amy, let's not keep touching that," Gabby helped the woman stand up. "You never know what it could actually be."
And a moment later, the Doctor heard a distant moaning. He froze, letting his eyes dart to the dark 'walls' of the so-called cave. "Er...it's not a floor, it's a…" he put his screwdriver away and prepared the best way to explain his discovery. "So…"
Renata narrowed her eyes on him. With all her thrashing, she missed the moaning. The Doctor was grateful for it because now he had a few minutes to come up with a way that wouldn't get him killed.
"What is it?" she demanded a dangerously low tone.
"The next word is kind of a scary word." And it was a pretty scary moment for him right now. He moved closer to her, taking her sticky hands into his. "Take a moment. Get yourself in a calm place. Go 'omm'. Everybody! Omm!"
Gabby and Amy had no idea what he was doing but they would go along with it and see where it led. "Omm!" they collectively said.
"...it's a tongue," the Doctor had swallowed very hard, almost making it so that Renata couldn't understand him. Almost.
Her dark eyebrows arched up as her eyes widened. "A...tongue?"
"Aha...a great big tongue!" He couldn't help the excitement that crossed his face for a moment. It was a tongue! They were standing on an actual tongue! When could that ever happen!?
It was that same excitement that drove Renata mad. "I'm gonna kill you!" she pushed him away. "I hope you've enjoyed your small time in that incarnation because it's about to end!" She actually lunged on him, knocking them both to the ground. Her hands may have curled around his neck but she got a taste of the food refuse from their splash and nearly gagged on the side.
The Doctor was stunned that Renata had actually lunged on him, but he was close to laughing too. This new incarnation of hers was truly going to be an adventure. Perhaps it was a sign that things were going to change for the better now.
"Renata!" Gabby burst into laughter. Amy perhaps would've laughed if she wasn't still stuck on the fact they were inside a mouth.
Renata still narrowed her eyes on the Doctor under her. "You are so lucky there's witnesses!"
"I'm going to love you even more after this," he said before laughing. A blush bloomed across Renata's face, even more so when she realized their position.
Make a fool out of yourself why don't you? She quickly got off him and tried pulling her hair off her face. "How do we get out of here?" She reached for her pocket and took out her own sonic.
"What, you have one too?" Amy blinked at the golden-white sonic in Renata's hand. It even made the same sound as the Doctor's.
Renata gave a dismissive nod while she took a look at the readings. "This place is huge! Doctor, of all the places…"
"It's gorgeous!" the man exclaimed. She rolled her eyes in response. "Blimey! if this is just the mouth, I'd love to see the stomach." Of course soon as he heard the grunts in the back he regretted his words. "Though not right now."
"Doctor, how do we get out?" Gabby called to him. She would like if he didn't keep saying words that could get him killed by the mouth or Renata.
"OK, it's being fed through surgically implanted feeder tubes, so the normal entrance is…" the Doctor made a turn towards the white set of teeth properly shut. "...closed for business."
"We can try, though!" Amy said determinedly. She left Gabby's side only to take two steps and hear another grunt. "Or...not…"
"Oh, great, it's started," Renata lowered her sonic to her side.
Amy swallowed hard. Whatever was starting was her fault. "What has?"
"Swallow reflex." The Doctor said just before they were thrown back into the refuse. Renata yelled as soon as her entire body was covered in the refuse again. In a quick second the Doctor used the sonic on the walls to get another process started, one that he was sure Renata would thoroughly scream at him for.
"What are you doing?" Amy sat upright, too afraid to stand until somebody else did too.
"I'm vibrating the chemo-receptors!"
"Chemo-what?"
"The eject button!"
"How does a mouth have an eject button?"
As expected, Renata loudly screamed. "I really hate you! I hate this entire place and this entire ship!"
Gabby was about to ask for another explanation when they heard the creature growling and a wave of vile coming towards them. Oh, she might scream too.
The Doctor helped Renata stand up but she looked so close to murdering him he almost thought of letting her go. He winced at himself for that thought. "Sorry Renée. Only way out."
She would've indeed yelled at him had it not been for the terribly huge wave coming for them. "O-o-oh no…" Her hands suddenly clung to him.
"Right, then, this isn't going to be big on dignity," he tweaked his bowtie, not that it would matter in a couple minutes. "Geronimo!" He wrapped his arms around Renata's body to shield her from as much bile as he could.
Gabby and Amy tried cowarding behind one another, ushering the other one ahead before they would force each other to switch places. In the end, they all screamed as the bile collected them in its way.

When Gabby and Amy came to, everything was a bit distorted. They could see each other a few inches away but things were blurry. They could hear warbled voices in the background, going fast. It took a few minutes for them to realize they were lying on a hard, cold metal ground and that the voices they heard were actually Renata and the Doctor going back and forth in some conversation...or argument. Gabby wasn't sure.
"You really had to bring us there, huh? I always thought there was a wire in your head that's plugged into some box with the words 'act stupid' on the front!" Renata was watching the Doctor sonic the metal door that wouldn't open for them.
He looked over her shoulder at her, his expression a cross between wanting to laugh or be properly annoyed. "A box…?" The laughing was winning.
She huffed and folded her arms. "Being clean is something I love. I adore it. You know what I don't like? Being covered in sick! I was just thrown up like...like…" she groaned when no comparison came to mind. "It's just so terrible that I can't come up with the right word!"
"Ren?" Gabby called, alerting the pair she and Amy had woken up.
Renata turned around to help the girls stand up. "Don't worry. There's nothing broken, there's no sign of concussion and yes, unfortunately we're all covered in sick."
"And where are we?" Amy asked once she realized they were in a narrow room with, unsurprisingly, two Smilers.
"Overspill pipe, at a guess." Renata glanced back to see if the Doctor was anywhere closer to opening that door. He wasn't.
Amy crinkled her nose at the stench that seemed to be stuck on her. "Oh, God, it stinks!"
"Yeah, that's not the pipe," the Doctor paused scanning to shoot her an apologetic smile.
"Ugh! Doctor!" Gabby kept her arms away from her body. "This is by far the most disgusting thing that's happened to us!"
"Can we get out?" Amy wanted nothing more than to see a shower.
"One door, one door switch, one condition," Renata sourly said as she made her way up to the Smilers. She tilted her head at the smiling clown face. "It wants us to forget everything we saw. The audacity."
"Forget that we were inside the mouth of a creature? Honestly tempting," Gabby admitted after smelling a strand of her hair.
"Don't say that Gabbs," the Doctor gave up on the door for the moment. "There's a creature living in the heart of this ship and I'd like to know what it's doing there."
The Smilers knew the question was directed at it and, as a response, they turned around to show their angry faces.
"No, that's not going to work on us, so come on," the Doctor made a motion with his fingers for it to give the answer. "Big old beast below decks, and everyone who protests gets shoved down its throat. That how it works?"
Once again, the Smilers turned their faces, revealing an even angrier faces than the last.
Renata was exasperated with the Smilers by this point. "Would you just answer!?" She slammed her hands against the walls of their booths, at the same time expelling golden butterflies. With widened eyes, she backed away. "Oops…" she stared at her palms much like Gabby had earlier. "How does that work exactly?"
"At a first glance, seems like its connected to your current distressed state," the Doctor said, reaching for her closest hand. He examined it as much as he could with the naked eye, but there seemed to be no excess and it didn't seem to harm Renata like it had in her last incarnation.
"I got mad at the door that wouldn't open!" Gabby exclaimed, absolutely believing the Doctor's theory. "It must be when we're mad!"
"But not always, right?" asked Amy who had remembered the butterfly trick Renata showed her when the Doctor was examining the crack in her bedroom wall.
Renata seemed to read her thoughts and nodded with a smile. "Yes! But-" she dropped her smile as her eyes landed on the Smilers again, "-right now I'm beyond angry! I'm covered in sick because of a creature that's no doubt being tortured in the middle of this ship and some stupid clowns are holding back on us! So you better-" she threatened the booth with a pointed, glowing finger, "-start answering before you become Vortex dust!"
The booths opened up to let the two Smilers come out.
The Doctor quickly pulled Renata back, prompting Gabby and Amy to do the same. "May I just say, good response but terrible outcome?" he told Renata who agreed with a quick nod of her.
"Okay, what do we do now!?" Amy urgently asked them as the Smilers approached them. They were looking as terrified as she was and she took that as a bad sign.
Suddenly, the red cloaked woman had the door opened behind them and shot at the Smilers. They were momentarily stunned.
The Doctor whirled around, happy as ever. "Look who it is!? You look a lot better without your mask!"
The woman was showing her smiling face at them. Her eyes flickered past Renata to the humans. "You must be Gabby and Amy. Liz. Liz 10."
Neither girl could understand when this woman became their friend but would gladly take it!
"Bit late, aren't you?" Renata smirked at the woman.
"A thank you is in order!" the woman laughed. "Right. You know Mandy, yeah?" she moved slightly to let the others see the girl behind in the hallway. "She's very brave."
"How did you find us?" the Doctor asked her after realizing there was no the woman had been casually around the area.
"Stuck my gizmo on you!" the woman chucked a small device at him. "Been listening in."
"Let me see!" Renata took the device from the Doctor to study. "Oh this is great! It could come in handy to keep an eye on him!"
"HEY!" the Doctor was utterly offended. It didn't help that the others, including little Mandy, started laughing. "Seriously!?"
"Sorry, sorry," Renata apologized but she was still struggling to stop laughing. She held the device back to him, not even noticing when he swiped it from her hand with irritation.
"Anyways, you want to tell us what's a creature doing in the middle of the ship?" the Doctor looked directly at the cloaked-woman. "Oh, my bad, you also voted to forget."
The woman took the sarcastic jab calmly. She shrugged her shoulders and refuted the statement. "Never forgot, never voted. Not technically a British subject."
"Then who and what are you, and how do you know us?"
The woman tilted her head at him, giving him a smile asking him if he really needed to ask her that. "You're a bit hard to miss, love. Mysterious stranger, MO consistent with higher alien intelligence, hair of an idiot…"
"Oh, another insult? Seriously!" the Doctor was reaching his limit with all these sarcastic jabs. Why was it always him!?
Renata felt guilty for taking her own jabs. She always did them and poor Doctor always had to take it. It was their dynamic, sure, but sometimes she needed to reel it back. She reached up to move some of his wet strands of hair off his forehead. She felt his body stiffen but soon relaxed under her touch.
"Sorry my dear. You do have the hair of an idiot but I love it," she said with a soft smile.
Well, that made everything better for the Doctor. He wouldn't mind if he stroked his hair all day. Actually, he might ask her if she could do that later. With any luck, she would say yes and they could have one calm day together.
When Renata was sure their little disagreement was resolved, she drew her hand away - an action the Doctor almost pouted at - and turned her attention back to the woman. "So, you were explaining how you know him?"
"Both of you, actually," the woman said. "Did I not make that clear?"
"Right, except that doesn't make sense. We haven't met you."
"No, I've been brought up on the stories. My whole family was." The woman noticed the Smilers beginning to twitch behind them. "They're repairing." The group looked back to see the Smilers and quickly took a few steps away. "Doesn't take them long. Let's move." She took the lead down the hallway and continued explaining herself to the pair. "The Doctor. Old drinking buddy of Henry XII. Tea and scones with Liz II. Vicky was a bit on the fence about you, wasn't she?"
"What did you do, Doctor?" Gabby threw the man a curious glance.
The Doctor preferred not to explain considering it really was his fault. "Torchwood," he left it at that and hoped she and Renata would get the jist.
"Knighted and exiled you on the same day!" the woman laughed. The Doctor scowled at her back. So much for keeping it a secret!
"That sounds like you alright," Renata mumbled to him as she rubbed his arm comfortingly.
"And how could I forget Marchioness Renata? Good friends with Anne of Cleves, bit rocky with dear old Henry VII - I'd be too, don't worry - but nobody more rocky than Liz I, huh? Goes for you too Doctor!"
"I haven't even met her! Doctor, what did you do!?" Renata glared at the man in question.
"How do you know I did something!?"
"Because it had to be! Notice how she didn't say drinking buddies of Henry VII, right?"
"Well, but…but you were the reason we couldn't go back to any Henry VII era!"
"Hey that was both of us!" Renata snapped loudly and jabbed her finger into his chest.
Gabby couldn't help snicker at the reminder of that precise trip. Amy heard the laugh and raised an eyebrow at Gabby, asking her what she knew.
"Long story short..." Gabby pulled Amy a bit closer to speak quietly without being heard. Of course with Renata and the Doctor arguing, she didn't have to try so hard. "We met Anne of Cleves and her then-husband, Henry VII, who wanted Renata as his wife. The Doctor got jealous, made a whole thing about it and we had to run for it in the end."
Amy hid her laugh behind her mouth and turned her head at the Time Lords. They were still going at it strongly.
"I didn't do anything!" the Doctor was shouting.
"Don't lie to me! Martha also told me this Queen was particularly upset with you! And now she hates me too!?"
"I didn't!" the Doctor insisted but Renata wouldn't listen. Gabby and Amy both shared equally confused but curious glances with each other.
"Good story to come, I hope," Gabby snickered with the ginger.
It wasn't until the woman introduced herself as Liz 10 - Elizabeth X - that the Time Lords stopped arguing.
"And down!" Liz shot at the pair of Smilers behind them. "I'm the bloody Queen, mate. Basically, I rule." She led them into another corridor that would bring them to the base of a vator shaft. "There's a high-speed Vator through there."
The Doctor noticed two tentacles sticking out of a caged area, much like the one Gabby and Amy saw earlier. "There's these things. Any ideas?"
"Oh, we saw one of those up top," Gabby said as soon as she saw the caged area. "Right, Amy?"
"Yeah!" the ginger nodded. "There was a hole in the road, like it had burst through, like a root."
"It's all one creature," Renata said and shuddered. "The same one we were inside minutes ago, but now it's reaching out. It must be growing through the mechanisms of the entire ship."
Liz eyed the cage with newfound horror. "What? Like an infestation?"
"Someone's helping it. Feeding it…" the Doctor tried getting nearer to it but Renata yanked him back.
"Feeding my subjects to it," Liz muttered and stormed off. "Come on. We've got to keep moving." Mandy followed in a hurry and just as Amy and Gabby were going to do the same, they noticed the Time Lords staring at the tentacles with odd expressions.
"Guys?" Gabby called to them while Amy gestured that they needed to be following Liz.
"We should have never come here," the Doctor resolved with a sigh. The creature banged against the bars keeping it inside. He should have just ran those exams on Renata and maybe, just maybe, they wouldn't have caught sight of this ship.
Amy remembered the video she left for herself, warning her to get off the ship. Could it be related to the creature? And if so, why was it so urgent!?
~ 0 ~
Liz's bedroom was covered with a maze of glasses of water. It was a certain challenge getting around it but Liz was a master as she swiftly crossed the room to reach her bed. Sometime later would see the travelers cleaned up from showers, though Renata swore she would take a proper, long bath when they went home.
"What are these glasses for?" Gabby asked in a slight frustration after nearly knocking one over.
"To remind me every single day that my government is up to something, and it's my duty to find out what," Liz said in what sounded like a recital.
"Lovely mask," Renata eyed the porcelain mask sitting at the foot of the woman's bed. She knew the Doctor had already taken a quick study of it while she was in the shower, but she wanted to see it with her own eyes. "Guess you would need it if you're a queen going undercover to investigate her own kingdom."
Liz was dead serious as she watched Renata turn her mask over. "Secrets are being kept from me. I don't have a choice. Ten years I've been at this - my entire reign - and you've achieved more in one afternoon."
"That's him alright," Renata said without even gazing up from the mask. The Doctor stopped pacing behind her, his amused expression asking her how she knew that line had been directed at him. She glanced at him with a wink.
"So Liz, how old were you when you came to the throne?" he asked afterwards.
"40. Why?"
Amy's mouth nearly dropped when she heard that. She turned away from the mirror after putting her hair up. "What, you're 50 now? No way!"
"Don't let physical appearances fool you," Gabby said before throwing a thumb at Renata and the Doctor. "Ask them how old they are."
"Ask and it's the last thing you'll do," Renata calmly said while she studied the mask, though under her calm words there was a clear warning.
Amy chuckled and went to sit on the chaise with Mandy.
"Yeah, they slowed my body clock. Keeps me looking like the stamps," Liz added for humor.
"Do you always wear this in public?" Renata waved the mask at Liz. The woman nodded her head.
"Undercover's not easy when you're me. The autographs, the bunting."
Renata had on a strained smile before she glanced at the Doctor. He already knew.
"Air-balanced porcelain. Stays on by itself, cos it's perfectly sculpted to your face," he said quietly. Liz missed the knowing looks the pair were sharing.
"Yeah. So what?"
Renata met the woman's gaze a few seconds later with her strained smile stronger than ever. "Oh, Liz. So everything."
If they had been about to share what they knew worth Liz, they never got the chance. Four hooded men burst into the room, startling Liz out of her bed.
"What are you doing? How dare you come in here?" she rushed up to them in outrage.
"Ma'am, you have expressed interest in the interior workings of Starship UK. You will come with us now," one of the men dutifully announced.
"Why would I do that?"
The man's head then spun to show the face of an angry Smiler.
"Mm, that's why!" Gabby exclaimed in horror.
Liz was appalled as she stumbled away from the men. "How can they be Smilers?"
"Half Smiler, half human," the Doctor said, rather disgusted.
Liz didn't seem to share the same sentiment. She was beyond furious and anyone who was responsible would feel it. "Whatever you creatures are, I am still your queen. On whose authority is this done?"
"The highest authority, Ma'am," the Smiler, to his credit, did obediently answer.
"I am the highest authority!"
And that should be your first clue, Renata almost rolled her eyes. The human was too angry to even notice it.
The Smiler agreed with Liz, yet another clue that the woman missed, and announced that he would led her and the rest to the Tower of London. They were brought to a large stone room full of machinery. Only a few feet inside, Amy and Gabby noticed more of the creature's body was sticking out of grates.
"Where the hell are we?" Gabby wearily looked at the Time Lords.
"The lowest point of Starship UK," the Doctor said, giving the room a little spin. "The dungeon."
"Hawthorne!" Liz barked a gray-haired man who'd approached the group. "So this is where you hid yourself away. I think you've got some explaining to do."
"Excuse me," Renata called with a similar authoritative tone. "Why are there children down here?" Her question made Amy and Gabby realize there was a line of children doing hard labor around the room. "It seems hardly safe for them. Where are their parents?"
"Protesters and citizens of limited value are fed to the beast," Hawthorne replied with the most casual tone, easily enraging Renata in a second. "For some reason, it won't eat the children. You're the first adults it's spared. You're very lucky."
"You tried feeding children to the creature!? How dare you!?" She looked ready to lunge on him and it didn't seem like the Doctor would try to stop her.
The only reason he wouldn't join her was because his eyes had gone to the type of equipment around the room. One Time Lord for each problem.
"And you agreed to this!" Renata turned on Liz, startling the woman with the sudden change of direction her rage took.
"I did not!"
Renata's loud scoff made everyone around her flinch. "Yes, you did!"
Gabby pulled Renata back a few steps. "How could she? She's investigating her own kingdom, remember?"
"I remember, but she doesn't! This isn't even a dungeon room, it's a bloody torture chamber!"
"Ren, what are you talking about?" Gabby happened to look in Amy's way and saw the finger's mild fear. If she was in Amy's place, Gabby would agree the sight of angry Time Lady was fear-worthy. "Doctor?" she called to the man for some help.
"She's right," the Doctor agreed, speaking in a low tone.
Gabby recognized that immediately even if was in a new incarnation's voice. Oh great, they're both angry.
"Torture chamber of the Tower of London, except it's not a torture chamber, for this lot," the Doctor sourly went on as he strolled by the equipment. "I suppose it just depends on your angle." He came for Liz and, despite the woman's reluctance, he led her to an open well which was reply just a view into the engine.
Liz peered over the railing to see something huge and it was moving. "What's that?"
"It's your engine," Renata muttered, ignoring Gabby's please beside her to explain why she was so upset.
"Well, like I say, depends on the angle. It's either the exposed pain center of big fella's brain, being tortured relentlessly…" the Doctor trailed off.
"Or?"
"Or it's the gas pedal, the accelerator - Starship UK's go-faster button."
"I don't understand…"
The Doctor was getting frustrated with the lack of brains around him. The answer was right in front of Liz and she wasn't getting it! "The spaceship that could never fly, no vibration on deck. This creature - this poor, trapped, terrified creature. It's not infesting you, it's not invading - it's what you have instead of an engine. And this place down here is where you hurt it, where you torture it, day after day, just to keep it moving."
As if to help prove his point, an intermittent electrical beam shot down into the well, directly hitting the creature's exposed brain. Liz was stunned and she dared not look over the tails again.
"Tell you what," the Doctor hastily made his way up to another well to lift its grate. "Normally, it's above the range of human hearing. This is the sound none of you wanted to hear." He used the sonic on an extension that had come undone in the grate. A loud, piercing sound filled the air until the Doctor stopped it.
Gabby felt tears come to her face when she realized that the sound was like a cry, a cry of the creature. "It's being tortured nonstop?" Renata nodded at her and finally Gabby realized why the two were so angry.
Amy hadn't yet reached that level and she was suddenly wondering if she wanted to.
"Who did this?" Liz demanded to know from the workers. She was furious, just like Renata and the Doctor.
"We act on instructions from the highest authority," Hawthorne said, but Liz still didn't understand.
"I am the highest authority!" she snapped. "The creature will be released, now." But even with all her anger, nobody moved from their spot. "I said now! Is anyone listening to me?"
The Doctor slowly returned to her side and took out her mask from his pockets. "Liz. Your mask. Look at it. It's old. At least 200 years old, I'd say."
Liz could not understand what was so damn important about that mask. She recalled how long Renata had kept it under her eye. "Yeah, it's an antique, so?"
"Yeah, an antique made by craftsmen over 200 years ago and perfectly sculpted to your face. They slowed your body clock, all right, but you're not 50. Nearer 300. And it's been a long old reign."
Liz almost laughed at the absurdity. "Nah, it's ten years. I've been on this throne ten years."
"It's been the same ten years," Renata clarified as she started heading for a small table set not too far from where they entered.
The Doctor led Liz by the hand and since the woman was utterly confused, she let it happen. "The same ten years over and over again, always leading you... here."
Liz swallowed rough when she saw a screen with a two buttons in front of it, reading "forget" and "abdicate". She turned a hard glance on Hawthorne. "What have you done?"
"Well it wasn't him," Renata corrected. "He's only following your orders."
Hawthorne nodded in agreement. "We work for you, Ma'am. The Winders, the Smilers, all of us." He reached over to the turn on the screen and as soon as it came to life, a recording of Liz herself appeared. It was what brought Liz to sit down and truly listen.
"If you are watching this...If I am watching this, then I have found my way to the Tower Of London. The creature you are looking at is called a Star Whale. Once, there were millions of them. They lived in the depths of space and, according to legend, guided the early space travelers through the asteroid belts. This one, as far as we are aware, is the last of its kind. 'And what we have done to it 'breaks my heart. The Earth was burning. Our sun had turned on us, and every other nation had fled to the skies. Our children screamed as the skies grew hotter. And then it came, like a miracle. The last of the star whales. We trapped it, we built our ship around it, and we rode on its back to safety. If you wish our voyage to continue, then you must press the "forget" button. Be again the heart of this nation, untainted. If not, press the other button. Your reign will end, the Star Whale will be released, and our ship will disintegrate. I hope I keep the strength to make the right decision."
Amy felt sick to her stomach. "I voted for this?" She asked the Doctor and Renata despite already knowing the answer. Their grim faces just confirmed what she already knew. "Why would I do that?"
"Because you knew if we stayed here, we'd be faced with an impossible choice," the Doctor muttered with a growing sense of anger at the woman. "Humanity or the alien. You took it upon yourself to save us from that. And that was wrong." He turned completely to her and once Amy saw his face she backed a step. "You don't ever decide what we need to know."
Gabby sent Renata a look asking her to step in, but Renata did not move. She was just as upset but her method of expressing anger had always been to seal it away. Gabby really dreaded the idea of that trait following Renata into her new incarnation. Seeing that Renata wasn't going to help, Gabby moved to stand between the Doctor and Amy.
"Hey! She doesn't even remember doing it!"
Having Gabby in front of him didn't make his anger any less. "But she did it. That's what counts!"
"I'm... I'm sorry," Amy said, at a loss for other words.
"Oh, I don't care," he turned away, storming towards the equipment. "When I'm done here, you're going home."
Amy gasped. "Why!?"
"Doctor, that's being unfair!" Gabby called but he didn't stop for either of them.
"I made one mistake!" Amy argued as she moved to stand beside Gabby. She appreciated the girl's help but she didn't need anyone to fight her own battles. "One mistake that I don't even remember doing it!"
There was no telling if the Doctor was truly examining the equipment he would need for his new plan or if he was just distracting himself from looking at either girl. "Yeah. I know. You're only human."
Gabby's eyes widened. That one might have just hurt her heart. "Is that supposed to be an insult?" the Doctor said nothing more so Gabby turned expectantly at Renata.
The Time Lady had watched the entire argument unfold with no clear expression of which side she was leaning to. "We get it, we do, but Amy you shouldn't have chosen to forget on our behalf. You don't get to make that choice for us."
"I'm sorry," Amy insisted, hoping that at least Renata would be able to know she was being honest. All Renata did was nod though.
"What are you doing?" Liz asked the Doctor, taking a few steps towards the man but stopping when she got a better look at his darkened expression.
"The worst thing I'll ever do. I'm going to pass a massive electrical charge through the Star Whale's brain. Should knock out all its higher functions, leave it a vegetable. The ship will still fly, but the whale won't feel it."
"But that'll be like killing it!" Amy exclaimed. She didn't remember pressing any buttons but she knew, she knew for sure, that she had pushed the 'forget' button to spare them pain. She only failed to think about the creature.
The Doctor's hands slammed down on the machinery and glared up at the group. "Look, three options. One: I let the Star Whale continue in unendurable agony for hundreds more years. Two: I kill everyone on this ship. Three: I murder a beautiful, innocent creature as painlessly as I can. And then I find a new name, cos I won't be the Doctor any more!"
"But there must be something we can do, some other way," Liz said but that was the Doctor's patience had finally snapped from the thread it'd been hanging on.
"Nobody talk to me!" he roared, startling everyone into silence. "Nobody human has anything to say to me today!" After that, nobody tried to stop him anymore.
All except for one person.
'I think you may have hurt Gabriella's feelings back there…'
Nobody would notice the one second the Doctor momentarily stopped working. This was the first time Renata had spoken telepathically to him since he regenerated.
'You're that upset my dear that you've unintentionally lowered your mental shields,' Renata came up to stand on the other side of the equipment he worked on. 'Never really talked about connecting telepathically but since your door is open, I'm going to step in for a moment.'
'Are you not upset?' the Doctor raised his gaze to meet Renata's eyes.
'Oh no I am very upset. Amy did something terrible but...she did it with good intentions. I can relate to that. I'm sure you can too.'
The Doctor wouldn't give in so easily despite the kind face he had in front of him. 'They have been torturing this kind creature for centuries, Renata. How am I supposed to react!? Not everyone has your ability to bottle things in!' As soon as he thought - or said - those words, the Doctor closed his eyes with regret. His hands stopped working over the controls and drew back. 'I'm sorry. I didn't...I shouldn't have-'
Renata smiled lightly at his guilty self. 'No, no, that's completely fair. I did that a lot. But just to be clear, I'm not saying that you shouldn't be upset. I'm only saying, from personal experience, that you shouldn't push people away. When they do things like these, with good intentions, it's best to go back and see things from their perspective. I know it's hard, especially because of the circumstances but it does help.'
The Doctor smiled to himself, almost shaking his head. He always wondered how she could be so wise, even when they were younger. She always had the right words to ease something that could seem so impossible. 'I love you, you know. I'm glad I have you around...in this way.'
Renata reached over the equipment to grab his hand. 'Me too. And know that whatever you do, whatever you decide...I'm here.'
The Doctor swallowed hard as his eyes roamed over the equipment. The choice had already been made. He just needed to get through it.

Gabby and Amy sat on the ground together against the wall. They could do nothing to stop what was going to happen to the creature. All they could do was simply wait for it. Amy, however, felt like she was waiting for more than Gabby...because she was.
"I messed it up," she said quietly, bringing her hands up to her temples. "I messed it all up…"
Gabby could feel Amy's genuine guilt and put a comforting hand on the ginger's arm. "It was an honest mistake. Don't worry, you're not going home."
Amy scoffed quietly. "Oh please, you heard the man."
"You don't know him like I do. I mean...I don't know him like Renata does but I know him enough to know that he says a lot of things when he's angry. He's heartbroken."
Amy wasn't convinced. She had felt the Doctor's rage with one simple glare and she was not interested in being on the receiving end again. "If I make mistakes like that, maybe I shouldn't be around."
"We make mistakes, trust me. I did too," Gabby shrugged. Her eyes flickered to Renata who had drifted away from the Doctor to stop more children coming in from working.
Amy dropped her hands to her lap and questionably looked at Gabby. "You did?"
"Yeah, on my very first trip just like you. I pissed off Renata when I overstepped about something I heard about her. It was about her past and Renata is a very reclusive woman. I made the wrong choice by asking her, pestering her, until she snapped and threatened to drop me back on Earth."
Amy's eyes widened as she quickly glanced at Renata. The Time Lady was clearing off some soot of a child's face, trying her best to make the boy smile. She even bopped his nose with a glowing golden finger to enchant the boy. Amy couldn't see Renata acting the same as the Doctor when she was angry. Hell, she couldn't even picture Renata getting angry.
"She can get angry," Gabby said as if she read Amy's mind. Amy looked away from Renata with a light smile. "The Doctor's right, Amy, we're only human but that's not an insult. It does hurt a bit when he says it angrily," she sighed. "He's actually very fascinated with our kind. We're that good." She bumped shoulders with Amy, eliciting a smile from the ginger. "But you have to understand that even though they look young...the Doctor and Renata are actually very old. They've seen so many things that sometimes they snap. And our job as companions is to help them come back from it. We can't make them come back but we can try our best."
"So what can we do right now?" Amy helplessly asked as she cast another look at the Doctor. He was fervently working and had been for time now which meant the creature would be dying soon.
"I don't know. We better start thinking."
Amy blew a raspberry at their hopeless situation. "Great."
"Just look at the butterflies," Renata's voice carried over to the girls' spot.
Amy craned her head in time to see a few of the children 'awwwing' at a few golden butterflies fluttering in the air. A light smile spread across Amy's face as she recalled the same trick being used on her all those years ago. It had truly made her feel much less afraid of the crack. Renata gave the allusion of what a mother was.
Mandy had joined the group without neither Amy nor Gabby noticing when, but Amy did spot one of the creature's tentacles creeping out of a grate towards Mandy. Amy panicked and scrambled to get up but just as she straightened up, the tentacle only tapped Mandy's shoulder and then allowed the girl to pet it.
"Amy?" Gabby gently called to her but Amy was thinking suddenly.
"It won't eat the children…"
"The children screamed, then it came. It's the last of its kind."
Amy watched Mandy and a few other children pet the tentacle and it almost looked like the creature was trying to play with them.
"No, it's okay," Renata was soothing one of the younger children crying at the tentacle. "It won't hurt you. I'm here."
"There were, but there aren't...just us now."
Amy's eyes flickered to the Doctor after watching Renata conjure up a few more butterflies for the scared child. There was no doubt in her mind he would be trying to pull off some crazy stunt to make the scared child laugh too.
"Doctor says he never interferes in the affairs of other peoples or planets but then he does when there's children crying?"
"Oh, if there's a child crying he'd stop everything."
Amy then looked down at Gabby who was still trying to decide if Amy was alright. She'd stopped calling Amy's name but she was keeping a close eye on the ginger. Something was going on inside her head.
And indeed there was.
Amy felt like slapping herself for being so clueless! The Doctor was right, she had to have kept her eyes open! She should've noticed everything! "Doctor, stop!" she yelled and rushed towards Liz. Everyone, including the Doctor and Renata, stopped to see her taking Liz's hand and racing for the voting buttons.
The Doctor was quick to panic once he realized what Amy wanted to do. "Amy, no!" he went after them but he didn't make it in time. Amy had brought Liz's hand down on the 'abdicate' button. "AMY!"
The creature bellowed underneath them, rocking the entire ship.
The Doctor nearly fell back if he hadn't caught onto pillar. Renata's arms flailed trying to keep the children around her from falling back.
"AMY!" she yelled as upset as the Doctor.
Gabby had managed not to smack face-first to the ground, but she wasn't the same as the Time Lords. "No, let her! She's figured it out!" She had no doubt that Amy realized something none of them had. She would never put them all in danger like this. She didn't seem the type.
Amy laughed as if agreeing with Gabby. The ship slowly stopped shaking and actually returned to normal...with a few differences.
"We've increased speed," Hawthorne was stunned as he looked over their readings.
"Yeah, well, you've stopped torturing the pilot! Gotta help!" Amy dramatically flapped her hands around the room.
"It's still here? I don't understand," Liz moved over to Hawthorne's side to see the readings herself.
"The Star Whale didn't come like a miracle all those years ago. It volunteered!" Amy began to explain, growing more excited by the second. "You didn't have to trap it or torture it - that was all just you. It came because it couldn't stand to watch your children cry. What if you were really old, and really kind and alone? Your whole race was dead, no future. What couldn't you do then?" Amy started making her way towards the Doctor, her smile softening as she took in his guilty face for not realizing it before. "If you were that old, and that kind, and the very last of your kind...you couldn't just stand there and watch children cry." And just to really make her point, she purposely nodded at Renata who was surrounded by the children.
"Oh, she's good," Gabby smiled proudly at Amy.

Once everything was settled on the ship, Renata and the Doctor found it easy to slip away from the crowd. They'd wandered to the observation deck where they found such a beautiful sight of a starry space.
"It's funny how times change," Renata's soft voice broke their mutual silent wacth. "Last time I saw stars...we were fighting the Master. And we were hiding in a Vinvocci ship. Oh, and the world was ending." She let silence pass between them again when it truly donned on her where they were a short while ago, and what they were doing. "That was two days ago."
The Doctor said nothing at first as he reached for Renata's hand. "Two days ago seems like a very long time ago."
Renata side-glanced him with a small smile across her lips. "Doesn't it? Now we're here," she squeezed her hand around his and faced the stars again. "Looking at some stars, on a ship with a creature driving it…"
"Flying it, technically," the Doctor couldn't help make the correction but instead of getting annoyed, Renata chuckled.
"Flying it," she amended.
The Doctor gripped her hand again, licking his lips nervously as he turned to her and gently using their interlocked hands to turn her as well. "Renée, I don't know why I forgot about it but...would you consider connecting telepathically?" Renata's eyebrows slowly raised, her expression giving him the impression she would refuse. "I-I know we did it temporarily twice but this time, if you'd like, we-we could...officially do it. I would understand if you think it's too early, but...if I may give my opinion?"
Renata chuckled. "When don't you?"
He agreed with a sideways tilt. "Right. We've only just started a relationship but the truth is we've known each other far longer. What happened between us...it's been a long story. I've known you for my entire life even if I've only seen you in three of my incarnations. Most of my thoughts you know anyways, but I'd like it if you could see every part of me. Who knows, maybe if you see what really goes through my head you might realize I'm no good. But at least you'll have known who I really am."
"I know you," Renata said matter-of-factly. She slipped her hand out of his to bring it up to his cheek. "I've always known who you are. Of course I know I don't know all of your thoughts, or every you, but I know you. I know who you are." She stepped closer to him, leaving barely any space between them. "I would love to finally connect our minds. Who knows, you might see the real me…"
"I know you," the Doctor clarified just like she had. "My Gala."
Renata let out a small gasp at his brief Gallifreyan use. The last time she heard him say her true name in their language was centuries ago, too many centuries ago. "My Theta." The Gallifreyan just tumbled out but before the Doctor could fully process it, she'd pulled him to her for a kiss.
Their minds slowly opened to one another, inciting a slow, passionate kiss that they hadn't really shared yet. Memories from each other flooded their minds, ones that they knew - that they were both a part of - and others that were new. No secrets would be left uncovered because that was a thing of the past, something they promised each other going forwards.

By the time Gabby and Amy realized they were missing their drivers, Renata and the Doctor were already waiting for them by the TARDIS.
Amy nervously carried Liz's porcelain mask in her hands and held it out for the pair to take. "From Her Majesty. She says there will be no more secrets on Starship UK."
"My type of monarchy," Renata gingerly took the mask into her hands. "And leadership in general."
Amy smiled but anyone could tell she was bursting with questions about her stay.
"Amy, you could have killed everyone on this ship," the Doctor was the one to break the terse silence.
"You could have killed a Star Whale," she countered.
"And you saved it. I know, I know."
Renata curled her arm around the Doctor's arm and smiled at Any that kind, warm smile she'd gotten as a child. It was the one that told Amy things would be okay. "We're sorry. We may have rudely snapped. That happens sometimes."
At this familiar words, Amy glanced at Gabby and shared a knowing smile together.
"Why do I feel like we're missing something?" the Doctor asked Renata as he watched the two humans.
"Because you always do."
"Oi!"
"Don't worry, Doctor," Gabby put an arm around Amy's shoulders. "I've just been giving Amy some insight into the life in the TARDIS."
"You would," Renata gave her companion a proud smile.
"I wanted to be like Donna when I first came aboard," Gabby admitted and for a moment she, Renata and the Doctor dedicated a moment of silence to their missing friend, Donna Noble. She would forever leave a scar in their hearts.
"Thanks Gabby," Amy genuinely thanked her new friend because otherwise she may not have made it this first trip.
"Gabbs, I am sorry if I hurt your feelings," the Doctor said once he remembered the terrible look in Gabby's eyes after making his human remark.
Gabby shook her head with a chuckle as she came to give him a hug. "I like to think that I know you enough for these types of situations!"
"Still," he dropped a kiss to her head. "You're family. We don't fight."
Renata barely controlled the urge to scoff when she thought about her family. "We should go. I think we could all use nice baths."
"Mhm!" Gabby pulled away from the Doctor. "I've got some nice bath bombs, Amy! Bet you've never seen a bath bomb that shoots images into the air!"
"What?" Amy's eyes widened, making the others laugh.
"I bet you'll like the one with stars! My favorite is the butterfly one!" Gabby motioned to be followed in as she hurried into the TARDIS.
"Don't forget we need to run tests on you!" Renata called after the girl but it didn't seem like Gabby had heard.
Amy chuckled. "Do you always act like a Mum?"
Renata blinked at her and for a moment it looked like she would be saying something but instead she looked at the Doctor. "Why do they all say that?"
Now the Doctor laughed. "You really haven't figured it out?"
She rolled her eyes. "Oh forget it." She turned around and disappeared into the TARDIS.
"Come along, Pond! Big day tomorrow!" the Doctor nodded at the TARDIS and missed Amy's wide eyed expression.
"Sorry, what?"
"It's always a big day tomorrow. We've got a time machine. I skip the little ones."
Amy found her breath once she realized he wasn't talking about her wedding. Her wedding. She shook her head and followed the Doctor inside. Renata and Gabby had no doubt disappeared into the corridors which gave Amy a motivation to ask, "You know what I said about getting back for tomorrow morning...have you ever run away from something because you were scared, or not ready, or just...just because you could?"
"Once...a long time ago," the Doctor came straight to the console. He started the TARDIS up and brought them into the Vortex.
"What happened?"
He turned with a smile. "Hello!"
Amy laughed. "Is that how Renata left too? Because I really can't picture that, you know."
The Doctor's smile faltered but it returned just as quick when he remembered how it was that she came aboard the TARDIS. That might make a good story for Amy. "Actually, I kidnapped Renata, stole her right off 1969."
Amy's eyes bugged out but there was a clear doubt on her face, only further confirmed by her scoff. "No way!"
"Yeah, I did! Nicked her off the ground and threw her over my shoulder!"
"Please, don't sound so regretful," Renata appeared by the corridor threshold, arms crossed and with a mock glare on the culprit. "I should've had the Shadow Proclamation on you when I had the chance!"
The Doctor just smirked proudly as he gave a little spin.
It was then that Amy realized he had not been kidding. "Wait, this actually happened!?"
"Oh yeah!" the Doctor said, once again spinning as he made a round on the console.
"Seriously, at least try to look a little sorry!" Renata walked up the glass steps to the console.
"Why would I be?" the Doctor stopped to smirk at her.
Renata mock-glared again and shook her head. "Amy, go on. Gabriella found the bath bombs." Amy nodded and hurried towards the corridor. "Not even going to apologize then?" she continued with the Doctor, but judging by his proud smile the answer was a no.
"I used to want to but now I changed my mind!"
"You're evil!"
"Smart!"
Amy laughed. "Okay, that's seriously funny!" And kind of romantic. She wouldn't mind if the same thing happened to her.

Prologue
It has been 6 months sense the defeat of Horde Prime and all Etheria is well on its way to recovery. The Fright Zone now known as New Sorpion is ruled by Scorpia, who along with Perfuma helped the former Horde soldiers and clones settle into a more positive and healthy life. Entrapta had taken Hordak back to Dryl, promising to keep a close eye on him. The two learning from and experimenting with the remaining Horde tech. Glimmer had remained Queen but had appointed Micah as her advisor. Meaning he ran the daily operations whilst she kept the official title. Adora had insisted Catra move into her room immediately after arriving at Bright Moon. Adora still planned to go off into space eventually but she was first and foremost Etheria’s protector and knew she and the best friend squad needed to postpone their plans for at least a year or two. Bow had been busy assisting Glimmer and had not visited his dads in a while. Once things calm down the BFS decide to join Bow in visiting Lance and George at their recently repaired home in the whispering woods.
Chapter 1
As they enter Bow’s parents are quick to greet everyone. Lance holding a tray of snacks with an excited look in his eyes. Catra stands a bit behind Adora. She has gotten used to meeting new people at this point, but its still strange.  Her mismatched eyes wondering around her surroundings. Its more books and artifacts than Catra had ever seen. The Horde was selective with its teaching of history. The bullet points primarily consisting of Hordak rules and princesses suck. Beyond that the former Horde soldiers knew extraordinarily little about Etheria and its vastly complicated backstory. A loud voice startles Catra a bit as her fur stands up. Lance having snapped her out of her thoughts. “And you must be Catra correct?” The man smiles, greeting the visitor. It is definitely Bows dad; she thinks. Attempting to reply. “I see where Bow gets his sunny disposition” She says with a playful level of snark. Both Lance and George Laugh. Lance especially finding it amusing. “Bow wasn’t kidding, you are as sharp as you are cute” He smiles warmly. Catra looking at him then at Bow with a death glare. “Stop telling people I’m cute!” She shouts, her tail shooting straight up as Adora and Glimmer join in on the laughter. She cannot help but smile a little at the sight of Adora laughing a slight blush forming on her cheeks. George cuts in threw the laughter. He has a more serious tone than Lance. A familiar commanding presence to it that Catra finds oddly comforting. Reminding her of old force captains she grew up around. “Well any friend of Bows is a part of this family. Whether they like the attention or not” He gives Catra a wink. Then gestures for everyone to follow as Lance chimes in cheerfully. “Lets all enjoy some snacks! I’m sure you’re all hungry from your trip, plus we have so many new discoveries to tell you about! Oh, and Bow, you must tell us more about what you and Glimmer have been up to lately.” He smirks. Bow blushes looking at him embarrassed. “Lance!” Catra cannot help but giggle seeing him flustered for once. Enjoying the irony.
After about an hour of conversation on their couches. Catra stands up, stretching a little. She decides to explore the house for awhile while. Only Adora notices, the rest very distracted by their current conversation. Adora stops her, grabbing her hand gently but firmly. “Is everything ok?” She sounded so caring. Catra could never get used to having so many people worry about her. She nods, thinking before speaking. “I just wanna look around. This place seems-I don’t know, neat” She mumbles over her words. Adora smiles wide, that stupid, dorky, lovable smile. Catra hadn’t shown much interest in anything outside of fighting and winning.  When they had become comfortable at Bright Moon the BFS had tried to get Catra some hobbies, interests to keep her mind occupied. Perfuma having said it would help her adjust to her new normal and being bored and sitting around the room 24/7 wasn’t exactly great for her mental health. But nothing seemed to interest her. So Adora cannot help but be encouraging about this sudden interest. “OK, whatever you want babe” Catra sticks out her tongue to dodge the embarrassment her girlfriend is putting her threw. “Ok weirdo” She heads to the second floor for a bit of privacy. Looking at the seemingly endless rows of books. Its almost a bit intimidating. She looks curiously around, grabbing a few books and flipping threw them. She squints her eyes to focus, a habit she picked up from the few times she’s had to read during her time in the Horde. Its difficult but she manages to read a few random chapters and get the gist of it. But she feels a prominent headache forming from the effort. She sighs, starting to put the books back looking a bit frustrated. When she suddenly hears the familiar voice of Lance. “Have an interest in history Catra?” She looks a bit startled, calming her fur as she looks at him. “No, just bored of y- “She stops herself, taking a breath as Perfuma’s words of kindness and speaking your truth repeat in her head. She speaks again more calmly. “Maybe a little. We never learned about it in the Horde.” Lance looks on the verge of tears, causing Catra to look concerned, worried she did something. His tone is devastated. “You never learned history?! What a terrible thing! History is a wonderful world of stories and discovery. We have dedicated our life to it. A life devoid of a knowledge of history is simply something a cannot allow.” Before Catra knows it, several books are being placed in her hand. Nearly causing her to fall over. “Now this is just the basics to get you started, brief history of Etheria volumes one threw ten! But if you ever decide you want to learn more our home is always open to a fellow lover of history!” He smiles warmly at her, a warmth to him that Catra has never seen in a parental figure. She doesn’t have the heart to tell him about her difficulty reading and simply nods and attempts a smile. “Thank you, um you’re really nice” The two of them head back down the stairs. Catra gets a thumbs up from Adora, the rest of them surprised at the pile of books their friend is now carrying.  After awhile they all head home, Adora insisting on carrying the books for Catra. Although she doesn’t mind watching the show of strength. Enjoying the walk home, Catra having refused to be teleported home.
        Chapter 2
It was time for the meeting of the princess alliance, a weekly event that primarily consisted of pleasantries, followed by import information and closing in hours of upbeat conversation and genuine friendship. During the tail end of this particular meeting, Adora finds herself uncharacteristically alone in her chair. Catra had gotten in the habit of either sitting on the arm of her chair or more often than not sitting directly on Adora’s lap. Refusing to be away from her and occasionally chiming in with useful advice or ideas (She had been a Horde general for some time) which were often appreciated when they didn’t involve too high a dose of snark. But today Catra had decided not to attend, claiming she was going to read the books Lance had given her. Ever the supportive girlfriend Adora did not fight her on the idea. Despite knowing she would miss her presence, more worried about the feline being alone then her own feelings. Adora takes her mind of it by chatting with everyone. However, Adora was not the only one to notice the absence. Scorpia who was rarely hesitant to speak up, looked to Adora asking curiously. “Hey Adora, why isn’t Catra with you?” She says in an upbeat but equally concerned voice. Glimmer speaks up “Ya she’s never not attended a meeting. Did something happen?” Adora watches as the whole room turns their attention to her. She speaks confidently but slightly nervous at the attention. “She’s uh, reading” Scorpia looks shocked, mouth agape as she starts to lough a bit. No malice in it, simply finding playful humor in the idea. “Catra? Is reading? She never reads, even when she had to do paperwork for the Horde, she just had me or somebody else do it. Wow times change” She smiles looking pleased at the idea. Entrapta takes the opportunity to speak up, speaking quickly and excitedly as usual. “Come to think of it, I had noticed Catra would never read the blueprints or data I collected. I always assumed she just didn’t care about the way I did my research simply that it yielded results. But maybe there was more going on!” She says excitedly as if Catra is a fun science experiment. Glimmer who had been listening to the two of them intently turns to Adora. Speaking curiously but with a hint of concern. “Well Adora. You’ve known her longer than anybody. Can Catra read?” Adora takes a minute to think, her forehead creasing as she summons every memory of Catra she can. After a few moments she speaks, almost shocked. “Honestly, I can’t remember a time I saw her read. I guess I never thought about it” She rubs her neck, embarrassed that she might not have known an important detail about her childhood friend turned girlfriend. Glimmer speaks up, grabbing Bow, Adora, Scorpia and Entrapta. “OK, then let’s settle this!” Poof, pink sparkles of magic surround them and they are suddenly right outside Adora and Catra’s shared room. Entrapta attempts to rush in but Bow stops her, whispering. “Wait, let Adora check first” Entrapta lets out a restrained sigh as Adora leans the door open ever so slightly, trying so hard not to alert her girlfriend. With one eye Adora can see Melog, sitting at the foot of the bed, then she looks to the bed seeing books strewn about. Then seeing Catra who is sitting cross legged, holding a book right in front of her face and squinting. Annoyed sounds coming from inside. Suddenly, the doors swing open behind Adora, Glimmer striding passed her as she walks to Catra, who has jolted off the bed, fur standing up as she hides behind it hissing. “What the hell Sparkles?!” Glimmer ignores her reaction and speaks firmly. “Catra do you not know how to read?” Catra, who is still looking up from behind the bed grumbles at Glimmer, seeing the others following behind her. “Of course, I can read! How dumb do you think I am?!” Adora looks concerned at Catra, not intending to ambush her like this, but willing to go along with it if they get to the bottom of the issue. “Catra please, its us. Nobody is going to judge you.” Adora says as calmly and comforting as she can. Catra just ducks behind the bed, hissing again.
Entrapta walks over and grabs her from the bed, Catra hissing and struggling a little as she is bound. Meanwhile Glimmer grabs one of the books off the bed and opens it, putting it in Catra’s face. “Then prove it. Read one sentence from this book and we leave you alone.” Catra grumbles, looking grumpy as she says annoyed. “Fine!” She looks at the book squinting her eyes as she leans her head closer. “The Etherian P-princesses have b-been in, in- ugh that’s enough see I can read now let go!” Entrapta turns around adjusting her grip as she pulls down her goggles, examining Catra’s eyes. “Fascinating! It seems that along with heterochromia you seem to suffer from an undiagnosed problem with your vison” Catra yells angrily. “English please!” Glimmer puts down the book, looking at Catra sternly but caringly. “It means you need glasses Catra.” Entrapta lets Catra go but before she can get her bearings Scorpia rushes in grabbing her in a big hug. “Oh, you poor thing! To think you’ve been unable to read all this time and we never knew” Catra has a look of murder on her face but takes a deep breath. Channeling all her self-control as she speaks calmly “Scorpia, would you please put me down?” Scorpia quickly lets her go. “Right! Personal space” Glimmer gestures for everyone except Adora to leave, giving her a warm look before closing the door behind her. Catra sits on the bed, looking at the floor. Adora walks over, sitting down and wrapping an arm around her, gently rubbing her arm. “Why didn’t you tell anyone?” Catra looks away, then sighs before muttering quietly. “Because I was embarrassed” Adora just smiles, placing her other hand on Catra’s cheek as she lifts her head to face her own. “You don’t need to be embarrassed Catra. We aren’t in the Horde anymore; you don’t have to hide weakness. Its ok to need something.” She softly caresses her cheek, tears starting to form around her mismatched eyes. She speaks in a slightly broken voice, filled with sadness. “I just hid it for so long and eventually I just didn’t think I could tell anyone. I, I was afraid you would be mad at me for keeping it from you” Adora’s heart breaks hearing her say that. The thought of her girlfriend ever thinking she could be mad at her over such a thing tearing at her. Adora wipes some of Catra’s tears away and pulls her close tell their foreheads are touching. She speaks softly but firmly. “Catra I will never be mad at you for needing something. Yes, I’m upset you didn’t tell me. But I’m more worried that you would rather hide this from me then come clean.  You need to tell me things and damnit we are getting you glasses because you clearly want to read those books”, she kisses her forehead, pulling back a bit as she looks at her. Catra takes a second, then speaks up. “I’m sorry I-I wouldn’t keep anything else from you I promise” Adora pulls her into a tight hug, placing her chin on her head, gently rubbing the back of Catra’s head.
About a week later Catra along with the BFS go to get her glasses. After professionals check her eyes to confirm Entrapta’s impromptu diagnosis, they begin the process of picking them out. Glimmer and Bow seem adamant about having her try on a million different ones, much to Catra’s annoyance. Eventually Catra settees on a round pair, claiming to have chosen them at random because she was sick of looking. It wasn’t because Adora said she looked cute in them. Totally not that.
     Chapter 3
Over the last few weeks Catra has been diving deep into the books gifted to her. It took her awhile to adjust to the glasses and reading at a good pace. But after a day of reading she was off to the races. In just two weeks she had read each copy twice, filling them with countless sticky notes and highlights, even working up the courage to ask to barrow a few books Bow had with him, quickly finishing them as well. Everyday when Adora comes home Catra can hardly resist the urge to talk about what she has read, a brightness in her eyes and excitement in her voice that makes Adora smile wide every time. She is also crazy smart, Adora comes to realize. She knew the love of her life was clever but like wow, Adora barely understands half the things she talks about but what she does understand is extremely complicated. Catra seems especially interested in old wars and rulers, recounting several chapters on old battles won by wit or leaders overthrown threw clever plotting. When Bow happens to mention one night at dinner that his dads have several detailed books and artifacts on wars and even combat styles and weapons. Catra cannot help but light up and let out a cheerful purr at the idea. Catra is reminded by Bow of Lance’s offer for her to visit sometime, knowing they would love the company. Catra is hesitant to leave Adora’s side for long and she knows Adora is far too busy to visit with her for any long stretch of time. She says she will think about it, choosing to table the idea for now.
A few days later during a meditation session with Perfuma, the princess can tell something is bothering the feline. Her body struggling more than usual to relax. She speaks as she always does, extremely calmly and positively, still in her pose. “What’s troubling you Catra?” Catra groans a bit, it can be annoying how Perfuma always seems to see right threw her. “Its nothing” Perfuma lets out a light chuckle. “If it were nothing you would be able to relax instead of thinking about it. Remember Catra, holding in emotions only hurts you. Breath deeply and speak your truth” Catra sighs, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, then exhaling as she speaks calmly. “I’ve been thinking about leaving for a while. Bow’s dads offered to let me visit and well- “She takes another deep breath, then lets it out. “I can’t decide what to do” Perfuma nods, thinking for a moment. “You want to go, to learn about history. But you’re afraid to leave Adora for so long.” Yet again Perfuma saw right into what she was thinking. Catra opening her eyes and looking at Melog who is currently chasing a nearby butterfly. “We haven’t been away for any longer than 24 hours sense the heart.” Perfuma keeps her eyes closed, nodding at Catra. “It’s a big step for the both of you, to be afraid or nervous about change is perfectly normal Catra. But I know you want this, you yourself have gone on about everything you’ve learned with such joy during our meditation” She giggles, opening her eyes to look at Catra, pulling her attention back to Perfuma. “Your friends will still be here when you return, Adora will still be here when you return. You need to go where your heart leads you. If that means leaving Your love Adora briefly, to explore a love of history. You should take that choice to heart and really ask yourself. Will you regret not doing it?” Catra looks to the floor, the closes her eyes and repeats her breathing exercise a few times. After about a minute she speaks calm with a flare of determination in her voice. “Yes” Perfuma smiles. “Yes what?” Catra responds confidently. “Yes, I will regret not doing it. I-I really want to do it.” Catra feels a hand touch her shoulder, opening her eyes to see Perfuma looking down at her, big smile on her face. “Then you need to talk to Adora” They conclude their session, Perfuma always insisting on hugging Catra before she leaves. She waves and hops on Melog, headed out of Plumeria and back to Bright Moon. Back to Adora, a mix of nerves and excitement at the conversation and events about to come.
The other chapters are still pending. Just wanted to see what everybody thought so far. =3

Draco Malfoy x Original Female Character - Devil In Me (part I)
DID SOMEBODY SAY DRACO MALFOY?!?! *cheering erupts as I arise from the grave*
Trying something a little different with this one! should be about 3-5 parts, lots of nice smut but also a pinch of character development, a smattering of fluff, a sprinkle of angst and (shock horror) an original female character??
Let me know how y’all feel about this, should be fun!
BTW IT IS SET IN THEIR FIFTH YEAR (GOF) TIME BUT IS NOT CANON OK? OK.
Tumblr media
“Hufflepuff!”
The shout echoes off the stone walls of the great hall and I slide off the chair, praying I didn’t leave any sweat marks behind me; it would be just my luck. Walking over to the table of cheering Hufflepuffs all wrapped up in their yellow scarves, I try not to let my prejudices get the better of me.
But seriously, Hufflepuff is the worst house, everyone knows that. It’s for the kids who don’t belong anywhere else: the rejects. We’re basically just a band of outcasts with a reputation for being overly friendly. Maybe it is the perfect house for me.
“Welcome to Hufflepuff! My name’s Phillip, I’m head boy. Come take a seat next to all the other first years.” A heavyset boy with an upturned nose and big eyes welcomes me warmly. I shake his pudgy hand and slide in next to an asian girl with jet black hair. She smiles awkwardly at me.
“Hi, I’m Joe.” She says over the uproar coming come Gryffindor table; a lanky kid with fire-truck red hair slinks over to them.
“I’m Marnie. Nice to meet you.” I smile back, hoping to god I’ve just made my first friend.
“Draco Malfoy!” The voice of the hat booms out and a pale kid with white blonde hair saunters up to the chair. He has an unmistakable air of confidence and he smirks as the hat hover above his head for a second before declaring loudly: “SLYTHERIN!”
“God, he looks like a twat.” Joe says to me. I laugh in agreement, something about his eyes reminds me of a snake slowly constricting around its prey and watching them closely with sick fascination, waiting for them to notice that the end is nigh.
“Too right. I tell you what, I’d rather be in Hufflepuff than in Slytherin.” We both turn up our noses at the raucous table full of green scarves and sly smiles.
“I’m with you on that one mate, bunch of lunatics over there. No wonder they keep them in the dungeons.” I laugh loudly at Joe’s remark and the silver haired boy, Draco I think, looks up at me. Our eyes meet and my laugh dies off, quickly turning into an awkward stare down which he wins without contest. I look away quickly and study the engravings on my fork.
“Don’t look now, but Mister Albino just caught me laughing at him.” I whisper to Joe. She very obviously whips her head up and stares back at him.
“Oh yeah. He just saw me look as well. Awkward.” She goes red and we both duck our heads down.
“That’s why I told you not to look, dumbo!” I whisper yell at her, giving her a side-eye through the curtain of my brown hair.
“Well sorry! There’s a reason I’m in Hufflepuff, not Ravenclaw!” She whisper yells back, and we both burst into uncontrolled laughter.
Yep, I’ve definitely made my first friend.
++
FOUR YEARS LATER
“Ugh, you’d think they didn’t know what a shower was in Romania.” Joe turns up her nose as some exceedingly smelly Durmstrang students skulk pas.
“Is that where they’re from?” I ask absentmindedly, flicking lazily though the pages of The Quibbler. My head is resting on Joe’s back and we lounge in the sun, enjoying the final days of summery weather. Joe picks at the grass, her feet kicking in the air behind her.
“What are you two losers doing?” A gleeful voice calls out across the grounds. Our friend Reggie makes his way over, not without gawking at some Beauxbatons girls strutting past.
“Something that requires more than your one braincell, sorry Reg.” I quip back as he nears us.
“Yeah, sorry mate! You don’t meet the requirements for our exclusive club.” Joe squints up at Reggie as he towers over us, which he doesn’t do often. The five-foot eight blondie with cherubic features is cute, in like a coochie-coochie-coo way. A shame, really, as Reggie has the biggest crush on Joe, who I’m pretty sure has no idea.
“Damn, and all this time I thought you were too threatened by my knack for comedic timing to be my friends.” He pouts playfully and splays on the grass next to us.
“I think an owl shat down your back.” Joe points out, sending Reggie into a fit; rolling all over the grass.
“What?! Get it off me! Where??” He squeals, trying to tug his robes around to see the back.
“There’s no owl shit, is there.” I mutter to Joe, not trying to hide my smile.
“Of course not.” She whispers back before pointing to an unreachable spot on Reggie’s back. “Just there, Reg! You’re so close!”
He rolls towards us with unexpected speed and begins to steamroll on top of Joe, which I guess has more to do with an excuse to be near her than any imagined owl shit.
“And this is my cue, see you lovebirds back in the common room later.” I laugh as I heave myself off the ground, slinging my book bag over my shoulder.
“What! Where you going?” Joe looks up at me from under a writhing blonde.
“I need to return some books to the library and give Professor McGonagall her copy of trans-fig four back. I spilt ink on mine, remember?”
“Okay Marnie! See ya later!” Reggie has no problem waving me goodbye and pretty soon, Joe is back to laughing in fits as he continues to roll around.
I walk back into the school and start making my way towards the library. I see a flash of silver and green disappear into an empty classroom as I turn into a deserted hallway. Draco Malfoy.
Curious, I creep quietly towards the door. As I near it, I begin to hear sniffles and shuddering breaths. Is he... crying?!
Not wanting to intrude on an obviously private moment, I back away slowly. Before I can make it two steps, however, the door swings open and there stands an incredibly pissed Draco Malfoy.
I freeze in my place, looking up at him startled. I didn’t mean for him to know that I knew that he was crying, but now, as he stares down at me with his cold blue eyes and permanent scowl, I know that he knows that I know that he was crying.
Good god.
“I’m... I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude.” I straighten up, looking up at his towering figure sincerely.
“Eavesdropping a habit for you, is it?” He spits at me.
“No, it isn’t. I heard crying and just wanted to make sure that whoever it was was ok.” I explain, holding my hands out in a pacifying way.
“You’re a stupid little busy body, go stick you nose elsewhere.” His anger only rises as I stand my ground.
“Well that was unnecessarily rude, wasn’t it?” I raise an eyebrow at him, crossing my arms. He looks taken aback.
“Who do you think you are? You’re just a stupid Hufflepuff.” He laughs devilishly down at me, taking a step forward towards me.
“And you’re an emotionally fragile little boy who can’t see a helping hand if it slapped him.” I shoot back. “Apparently.” I add, unsure as to why he was crying and not wanting to jump to any conclusions.
“Help?” He scoffs, laughing sarcastically. “Does it look like I need help?” He spreads his arms out to apparently show all the great things he has going for him, but all I see is a sullen, silver haired boy with red rimmed eyes, wet eyelashes and dark circles as deep as tartarus,
“I don’t know, Draco, I’m not the one crying in empty classrooms. Do you need help?” I ask him sincerely, taking a step towards him. My mother always said that too much of anything was a bad thing, including compassion. That was always going to be the death of me. I’d likely get stabbed by someone and hope it made them feel better.
“Not from the likes of you.” He seethes
“Well, no accounting for bad taste. See you around.” I shrug, turning my back on Draco and continuing down the hall. Silence stretches out and the only sound is the clop of my shoes on the concrete.
“I know who you are, Marnie Millicent.” He calls out after me, and the way he says my name has the hair on my neck standing up. “You’re on my radar now.” Although it sounds like a threat, I’m not too sure what being on Draco’s ‘radar’ entails.
“Like I said, see you around.” I call back just before rounding the hallway and attempting to wipe any trace of Draco from my mind.
But just like a red wine stain on white leather, he won’t leave.

Witcher Noir AU, pt 19
More Witcher noir AU! Previous parts here.
“You were looking for me?” Cirilla asks.
Geralt heaves himself upright with a grunt. “Yes.”
She sits back on her heels, staring at him curiously, as if she can’t quite believe he’s real. He takes the opportunity to get a good look at her. She’s grubby but appears to be unharmed, dressed in a shirt and a pair of trousers that must belong to her friend, judging by the way they’re rolled up at the cuffs. She’s grown up since the last time he saw her, and yet there’s still so much of that wide-eyed little girl about her. The thought of her spending the last several days on her own, with no one but another child to help her, makes his chest clench in a way that has nothing to do with the pain in his ribs. But there’s no time for regrets now.
“We should go,” he says.
“Like hell,” the kid cuts in, stepping out of the shadows. His grip on the remains of the broken chair is tight, and he looks ready to use it. “Ciri’s not going anywhere with you.”
“That’s not for you to decide,” Cirilla replies sharply.
The kid lets out an incredulous huff. “Are you really going to trust this guy just because he used to work for your family? A lot of people have worked for your grandmother, Ciri. That doesn’t make them good people. In fact, I’d say there’s a good chance it makes them really, really bad people.” He seems to realize he’s gone too far as soon as he says it, but he keeps on trying, taking a new tack. “So what if he was nice to you once when you were a kid? You haven’t seen him in years. For all we know, he could be working with the man in black, or somebody even worse.”
The haughty look Cirilla throws him is distinctly reminiscent of Calanthe. “Maybe, but it’s my choice, not yours.”
“He’s right,” Geralt says. “You don’t have much reason to trust me.”
Both of them look at him in surprise.
“There’s a lot we need to talk about,” Geralt admits. “You deserve to know the whole truth—and I promise to tell you everything I know as soon as I can. But it’s not safe here right now. My friend took care of the man who was trying to hurt you—at least for the time being—but the cops will be here any minute, and you need to believe me when I say you don’t want to get mixed up with them.”
The threat of the police seems to cut through the kid’s reservations. Cirilla glances at him and nods, her expression serious beyond her years.
“All right,” she says, “we’ll come with you.”
Before Geralt can reply, Jaskier appears in the doorway, panting heavily. “Thank god you’re all right,” he gasps. “Sorry, I know you told me to stay put, but— What are you doing on the floor? Never mind, there’s no time. The cops are here and they’re searching the alley.”
“Fuck,” Geralt mutters. He didn’t even hear the sirens. “Is there another way out of here?”
Ciri’s friend snaps quickly into action, beckoning for them to follow him. Cirilla goes after him without a moment’s hesitation and, after a searching glance at Geralt—which he can only answer with a shrug—Jaskier follows, too. The kid leads them back down the corridor and up the next flight of stairs. They pass one landing, and then another, until, finally, they emerge onto the roof.
After the deep gloom inside the building, they all have to stand there for a moment, letting their eyes adjust. The sound of the cops down in the alley below gets them moving again. The kid takes them across the roof and climbs handily over a waist-high dividing wall onto the roof of the neighboring building. Of all of them, Geralt has the most trouble scrambling over the barrier, his much-abused ribs screaming in protest as he hauls himself to the other side.
“You going to make it?” Jaskier asks in an undertone, hanging back behind the kids to talk to him.
“I’ll have to,” Geralt says.
“You can’t keep doing this to yourself,” Jaskier chides. “You can’t just tough out a concussion—”
“I don’t have a concussion,” Geralt insists.
“—and hope a your bruised ribs will just clear up on their own. You need to take it easy.”
This is far from the worst he’s endured, but he has to admit that the effects of the past few days are starting to add up. He thinks of Yennefer’s admonishment to him right before he kissed her—You’ve got to be playing the long game, from now on—for her. “I don’t have a choice,” Geralt says, more harshly than he intends to. “I can’t take it easy until this is over and I know Cirilla’s safe. Until then, I’ll do what I have to.”
Jaskier shoots him a worried glance, but Geralt doesn’t have time to indulge his anxiety when there’s another wall to climb over—and then, mercifully, the kid is jimmying open the lock on a door, and they’re descending another dim stairwell. At the bottom of the stairs, they find themselves in the crowded storeroom of a corner delicatessen. When they step into the shop, the woman behind the counter doesn’t even seem surprised to see them.
“Morning, Dara,” she says, as he staggers into her shop with battered and bloodied strangers in tow all the time. For all Geralt knows, he does.
“Morning!” the kid—Dara—replies cheerfully. “If anyone asks, you didn’t see us, OK?”
“See who?” she asks, without glancing up from the jars she’s stacking on one of the shelves behind the counter.
They emerge onto the street and Jaskier immediately steps to the curb to hail a cab. Despite having possibly killed a man today, he’s still the most respectable-looking of the four of them. If Geralt tried to call a cab in the shape he’s in, there isn’t a single car in the city that would stop for him. It’s only once they’ve all piled into the cab and the driver asks, “Where to?” that Geralt realizes he hasn’t had a chance to decide where they should go next.
Except that, before he can think about it, he’s giving the driver an address—one he hasn’t been to in a long time. But they need somewhere safe to hole up for a while, and he can’t think of anywhere safer.
Up front, Jaskier is chatting companionably to the driver, as if he doesn’t have blood on his hands and a stolen gun in his jacket pocket. Beside Geralt, Dara and Cirilla are holding another one of their silent conversations. Finally, Cirilla seems to win out, because she turns to him and says in a low voice, “Where are you taking us?”
Geralt glances at the driver, but the man is deep in a heated debate with Jaskier about the best routes of the city. He can feel Jaskier’s attention refocus on him, however, listening in on the conversation going on in the back seat even as he keeps baiting the driver with inane questions about traffic patterns and toll rates.
“It’s—” Geralt realizes he almost said home, but that hasn’t been true for years. “—where I grew up. We’ll be safe there, until we can work out what to do next.”
“And then you’ll tell us what’s really going on,” Cirilla says firmly, as if she’s afraid he’ll hold out on her when the time comes.
“I’ll tell you everything I know,” Geralt promises again. “But I expect the two of you to do the same.” He fixes them both with a serious look. “We can protect each other, but not if we don’t trust each other.”
Once again, that look of silent communication passes between the two of them, and they both nod solemnly. Not for the first time, Geralt wonders what the past few days have been like, for them to have built such deep trust so fast. Then again, he and Jaskier have forged a pretty tight bond, themselves, so perhaps it isn’t such a mystery.

It’s a living (Ben 10 omiverse)
it was a nice and peaceful day in Bellwood for a change, though considering it wasn't the main stream universe's Bellwood that made a degree of sense. In fact even as the main verse Ben sat across from his counterpart, enjoying the Mr.smoothies of universe 23 they could both relax as Seven-seven and Tetrax had decided to stay on earth and work as a team with 23, so were out patrolling. "So, not that it's not awesome to see you from time to time..but usually you showing up means something about to go all fucky fucky...Sooo what brings you here?" 23 asked. "things don't ALWAYS go bad when i show up!" Ben protested, huffing a little. "Mmmhmmm..So you showed up and I get attacked by my future team mates..you show up and the Ben war..you show up and Mad Ben.." 23 said, counting off on his fingers. "..Damn uh.. well I promise, no world ending stuff this time." Ben said, sweat dropping. "I uh.. ok so i told you I recently moved out and got my own place right?" "And yet you haven't invited me back once." 23 said and blew a raspberry to show he wasn't really offended. "eheheh well fact of the matter is I mightttta gone a little beyond my means and kinda sorta..I'm like a week from getting kicked out." Ben said, poking his fingers together sheepishly. "Heh, and what, you want a place to crash?" "welll more thinking maybe since I've been helping you and all that jazz, you could spot me a couple of grand to get me in the clear and stuff?" Ben asked hopefully. "eh..I learned the hard way not to loan friends money Ben. it's why me and my Gwen aren't on speaking terms." 23 said, then took a big drink of his smoothie. "however, I AM willing to help you MAKE the money you need, and more." "...Doing what?" Ben asked, confused. "Cuz gotta say, I've tried the retail thing back home and when you have to stop doing stock to fight alien invaders, you don't keep your job for long." "Pffft as if I'd let you work retail! Nah man! You know I've leveraged my frame and endorsed a TON of things right? Part of how I'm rolling in dough? Well I got this one wanna be sponsor who I'm not big on the product, but they are offering a crazy amount of cash. I figure they'll settle for the Ben of anther universe, you do the gig, we split the money 50/50, and everybody wins." 23 said, taking out a note pad and a pen. "Look uh, not to sound ungrateful, but if I'm the one doing the modeling or whatever, shouldn't I get more then half? and what are you writing down?" Ben asked. "That's how much your half of the deal will be, and I think you'll find it more then fair." 23 said and smirked. Ben frowned and picked up the piece of paper, looking down, then did a double take as his eyes went wide. "Holy crap! what am i modeling off? Missiles?!" he asked, his voice going higher then normal. "nah, no weapons of mass destruction in that sense.. though bet you'll still clear rooms." 23 said and gave a impish grin. "You'll be working for huggies." "..Say what?"
After half a hour of back and forth, and Ben admitting he really didn't have a better option, the two took off, transforming into XCLER8 and Speedyquick instead of hailing a cab and made their way to the huggies headquarters. since 23 was used to this sort of thing Ben mostly let him talk over the contract and tried not to get boarded out of his mind as they talked returns and profit margins, only tuning in when the executive they were talking to (who if Ben didn't know better, he'd swear was this universes version of Charmcaster) brought up diaper usage. "Of course seeing your other self in our new line of Lil' stinkers would do wonders for our promotion of them, but if we could show them being used it would really help sell other points. we're taking photo shoots for magazine spreads and of course some tv and internet ad's. the more you and your client can promise us in terms of selling these diapers are for big babies who need to be put in their place, the more zero's we can add to your check." She said, smiling. "Wait..as in..you know.." Ben interrupted before 23 could talk, and unable to say what he was thinking, and blushing badly, he make fart noises with his mouth. "Heh, yes, we want you to go dooty in your diaper." Hope said, smirking and watching the two boys reactions. "N-No way! I mean I'll wear them and crawl around and stuff, but I'm NOT taking a dump in diapers!" Ben huffed and crossed his arms, shaking his head and well, looking just perfect for the target audience. "Maybe I should give you and your client a moment to talk this over. we can make a deal without the diaper usage but it's going to cut into the bottom line." Hope said and got up and left the room. "Can you BE anymore of a brat?" 23 hissed at Ben. "But..but..she wants me to-" "Yes, I know. I was there. Look Ben, I'm putting my neck on the line for you here, if my other sponsors hear about what a crabby brat your being here, it could affect me. Also your the one who came to me for help, so wouldn't like crapping yourself in huggies and making a boat load of cash once be better then doing a bunch more commercials to make the same amount? And who the hell from your universe is gonna see you doing this anyways?" 23 asked. "But I don't wanna poop in a diaper!" Ben whined and shook his head. "and you can't make me! so th-" he started to add, then suddenly he was yanked out of his chair and over 23's laps. "W-what are you doing?! and when the hell did you get so strong!?" "I've been working out since the mad Ben thing. and I'm gonna do what anyone does with a whinny brat.." 23 said and smirked, tugging down the back of Ben's pants. "I'm gonna spank you." Yanking Ben's skid marked stained briefs up and giving the bigger boy a wedgie and exposing those cheeks, 23 paused. "Last chance to be a good boy and let me handle this." he said. "Y-You don't have the balls!" Ben cried out, his voice carrying. "I gave you a chance." 23 said and shrugged, then brought down his hand on Ben's bubble butt over and over, turning the cheeks nice and red as Ben bawled like a baby.
Since the office wasn't sound proofed, and many people knew that both of the Ben's were in the office, it attracted A LOT of attention as the bigger Ben's voice filled the floor with the sounds of wails and there was the unmistakable sound of buns being tanned. Hope smirked as she listened, feeling she had pegged the relationship between the two boys right, and waited till there was just the sound of the bigger Ben sobbing before going back into her office, and fighting back a chuckle as she saw the bigger boy in the corner, his pants in his chair and his undies still hiked up. the boy had his nose to the corner and his hands on his head, and was whimpering and sobbing gently. "I'm sorry for that, somebody needed a attuide adjustment." 23 said. "oh don't be! I just wish we had recorded that! would of been perfect for the set up of a commercial!" Hope said and chuckled. "well I can always spank him again." 23 offered, chuckling to as Ben whined loudly from the corner. "So, may I assume that your both on board with widdle Benny making uh-ohs and tinkles in his diapers?" Hope asked. "I dunno, Ben, are you ok with messing your diapers?" 23 asked. "Y-Yes! No more spankies!" Ben cried out, his hands going from his head to covering his poor buns. "i think that answers your question." "excellent, then I'll draw up the contract, and if we hurry we can have Ben in the studio in about 2 hours. Make sure he gets LOTS to eat, we wanna show off how the Lil' stinkers hold up to even the biggest messes." Hope said. as 23 and Hope chuckled, Ben whimpered and found himself sucking on his thumb having ALL the regrets.
a hour and half later and a semi pot belly Ben was leaning back in his folding chair, in front of the set and belching off and on. He still hadn't been able to reclaim his pants though he'd been allowed to tug the wedgie out at least, though this just got loads of comments about how diapers might be a good full time choice for him. Ben had swallowed back any come backs or threats he had in mind as every time 23 was quick to pat his still sore booty. going on Hope's advice 23 had forced Ben to chow down, though while the catering table was set up with all sorts of awesome snack foods, including Ben's favorite, chilli fries, it was the large pyramid of at least 23 jar's of prune baby food that 23 had directed Ben to, helping the bigger boy and spoon feeding him as the crew setting up the large nursery chuckled. "Come on ben, one jar to go. you can do it." 23 was saying, grabbing the last jar and smirking at Ben's baby food covered face. "D-Dude..I'm not joking..if I eat one more bite I'ma hurl." Ben whined. "that's what you said two jars ago." "by all means, call my bluff, just when your wearing baby food on your shoes, remember i warned you." Ben said with a weak smile then a LOUD and nasty belch. 23 made a face and waved the air in front of him. "Man, if it smells that bad now.. Maybe i should excuse myself to the other room when you crap yourself." he teased. "N-no way..if I'm doing this..you're watching AND smelling!" Ben whined and Belched again. "Can i get something to drink?" he asked. instantly he realized he should of worded his request better as 23 got a large baby bottle filled with what was hopefully milk, and popped it in Ben's mouth. it only took a few sucks on the nipple to realize that of course, it was formula, and Ben scuched up his face. "Hehehe I have to say Ben, you are JUST too cute like this. I might have to try and lock you into a long term agreement here." 23 teased then winced at the glare Ben gave him. "Kidding! Kidding!" pushing the bottle out of his mouth, Ben went to say something but was cut off as Hope strolled onto the set. "Ok people, time to make some magic. baby Ben, we need you in wardore." she said then pasued. "Oh, Do you know how to put a diaper on?" she asked, suddenly looking sheepish. "N-No." ben whined and a loud toot came out his bottom. "Oh er..I don't think we have time to teach you before you unload." Hope said, holding her nose. "it's ok, I'll diaper the big baby." 23 said happily. "of course you will." Ben muttered, but let himself be lead off to a side room where there was star on the door, with his name on it. "great...I'm about to become famous as a diaper boy.." Ben whined. lead inside 23 just chuckled. "Mr.Devil, he's ready for his close up."
The diaper was MASSIVE, and for a second both boys just stared at it, wondering if Ben was gonna be able to even walk in the thing. it was easily the equal to 10 normal diapers layered together and was a soft baby blue (whether that was a marketing choice or just when they had been making these things expect 23 to model them, neither boy was sure) anther loud toot from Ben's back door which sadly filled the small dressing room had both boys holding their noses, and broke them out of their trance. "I..I don't wanna do this. I'm scared." Ben whined, looking at 23 with pleading eyes and starting to squirm in a way that told him their deadline was coming up fast. "Sorry buddy, we signed the contract. but I'll make sure this goes as fast as possible. all you have to do with whimper and cry, and act like you've been acting, and I'll be doing the voice over." 23 said and reached up, patting Ben's head. Ben whined but let himself be laid down on the teddy bear print changing mat on the floor and just lifted his arms to let 23 tug his shirt off. "we're gonna have to enroll you in a exercise program if we need to keep feeding you like this." 23 teased, noting that while Ben wasn't chubby, he had enough pudge on him to look a bit like baby fat, and the baby food in his tummy wasn't helping. Sliding Ben's undies off 23 tossed them in a trash can behind him, then unfolded the massive diaper as Ben whined. "W-why'd you toss out my undies? A-and were are my pants? F-For after?" he asked, feeling so small and helpless as 23 lifted Ben up but his legs to get the diaper under him. "hush, you let me worry about that..though..heh.." 23 paused the look down at Ben's exposed crotch. "Didn't know you shave." "I uh..haven't gotten my pubes yet.." the bigger in so many ways, but not where it counted boy said. "well that explains your cute widdl-" "Watch it!" Ben huffed and for the first time moved to use his Omimatrix. "Ok ok..Sorry." 23 said sweat dropping. "I've had THREE girls interested in me by the way, so it can't be THAT small!" Ben added and 23 smirked and powdered him lots. "And how many of them saw you down there?" 23 asked, as he tugged the diaper up. "and of those that saw, how many stayed interested?" with the diaper tapped up Ben sat up with a bit of effort, but was blushing and wouldn't look 23 in the eyes. "L-Let's just get this over with." Ben huffed and tried to get up on his own, only to keep falling back on his puffy butt. "That's what I thought." 23 chuckled and then held out his hands, Helping Ben get to his feet. the bigger boys BIG diaper had his legs spread and Ben was barley able to waddle, several times needing to stop and take 23's hands as they made their way out onto the set. 'If i make it though this I'm moving to a smaller apartment so i never have to ask this son of a bitch for a favor again.' Ben thought.
Hope grinned ear to ear and had some of the photographers snap shots of Ben needing help with walking, before coming over with a baby blue bonnet and bib that had white text in comic sans, that read BRAT. Ben would of argued about the add ons, since he was pretty sure that hadn't been in the original deal, if it wasn't for the fact he was using every ounce of control NOT to mess himself too soon and have to start all over. "There we go, don't you just look adorable~" Hope teased and tickled Ben's chin. "A-Ah.S-Stop that..w-we hafa hurry up..I..I can't.." Ben whined and rubbed his tummy, a muffled fart coming out and making hope take a step back. As they started to film, Ben for the most part blissfully blacked out, but of course got to watch the commercial after, with everyone praising him on what a good boy he had been.
"Hey everyone, Ben 23 here, and bringing you yet anther great product. So, brats, we all know one and we've all thought about putting them in their place, but where do you even start to get what you need for it?" Came 23's voice, on a screen of black. "Well the answer for that, Is huggies. That's right, the same company you've been trusting to look after your little bundles of joy is here to help you put those same bundles of joy turned into over sized brats back into little baby's." the screen came into focus and there was Ben, a glazed look in his eyes and holding his tummy, in all his big baby glory. "Most of you know about my other universe counterpart, but what you don't know is that he's a grade A BRAT. as a favor to his friends back in his verse, we're giving Baby Ben the punishment he deserves. isn't that right baby ben?" 23's voice asked as Ben whined and pouted. "Pwease, no wanna go poopies! I'm sowwy!" Ben cried out. "now now Ben, you don't want anther spanking do you?" 23's voice asked, and it was the yelp of fear that sold it as Ben totally lost control. the camera zoomed in as the back of Ben's diaper rapidly started to expand, and loud gross farts were heard. Ben for his part was face down ass up, and pounding a fist on the floor as he filled his diapers, crying and howling but really, it only made the shot better. "Lil stinkers is made with a new material that allows for up to 40 times the normal amounts of waste, which means even with 22 jars of baby food in baby Ben's tummy these diapers won't leak, or your money back." 23 said. the diaper only started to take on a dirty stain of brown in the back as the material reached down to Ben's knees. "with our new smell block guards in the diaper, you'll only get the faintest whiff of the the mess the big babies made. Sure it spares the brat but if your brat is anything widdle Benny here, you're gonna be punished enough changing him." with a few last sputtering farts Ben was apparently finished and sucking on his thumb as he got up on his knees, looking to the cameras. "C-Change pwease?" Ben whined. "Oh silly Ben, if we just changed you right away, where would the fun be in that? with added rash protection built into the diaper, along with bratty baby brand powder, Our little Benny can go 12 hours without a change!" hearing that Ben bawled again, both hands coming up to his eyes and there was just no two ways about it, he looked like a giant baby. "See you in 12 hours little guy! enjoy your poopie diaper." 23 said cheerfully. Ben's cries were muted as they went to the last of it. "Lil stinkers by huggies. put your brat back in diapers, and in their place. Available at a super market near you in two weeks."
Ben naturally wasn't actually kept in the poopie diaper for 12 hours, though they did take the chance to get all the pictures they needed for him in his poopie diapers, with 23 posing in some of them with him. Such as having Ben in his arms, Ben over his lap and pretending to give him a messy spanking, and of course 23 pulling the back of the diaper open as Ben sat on his ass, hugging a teddy bear and sucking on a pacifier and 23 holding his nose. If 23 was being truthfully though he was glad he was wearing his baggy pants as the site of Ben like this almost had little hearts in his eyes and he was tempted to try and keep Ben like this. Still a contract was a contract, and once they had enough footage they got Ben changed into a clean diaper but out of the bib and bonnet, and with his t-shirt back on. Ben was actually in the crib that was part of the set up when he came out of it, the staff and Hope and 23 where having a few drinks. "C-Can somebody come let me out? And.. get me big boy undies and pants?" Ben called, using the crib railing to haul himself to his feet but swaying dangerously if he let go, so knowing he couldn't get out. if the crew heard him, they ignored him and kept talking among themselves and laughing, annoying Ben. "I SAID, SOMEBODY LET ME OUT!" Ben yelled and stomped a foot, slipping and falling on his padded rear. "oh great, the baby is awake." 23 said, smirking and winking to the crew who all laughed. "Your not freaking funny! Let me outta here NOW or I'm going way big!" Ben growled and started to fiddle with his watch. "Way big?" a crew member asked. "as in he's gonna be a big boy?" "No! as in the alien who's 100 feet tall!" Ben huffed and got the watch ready to go. "-sigh- I'll handle this." 23 said and walked over, holding his hands up. "heyy heyy..it's OK Benny. we don't need to bring aliens into this. you're all done here and we'll cash your check at the first bank of Ben then you can go home. OK?" "i want outta this diaper, I want outta this crib! and i want big boy undies and pants!" Ben huffed, keeping his hand over his watch. "heh, your terms are agreeable. we only re-diapered you because you were out of it, and I don't really wanna change anther poopie diaper." 23 lied. He would of totally loved to keep changing Ben's diapers but clearly the little guy had been pushed to his limit.
As it turned out they couldn't find pants in the studio for Ben, or a pair of undies so the poor hero ended up standing in line with 23 at the bank in his t-shirt and diapers, which normally would of caused problems but with 23's technically owning the bank, it was brushed over. The first thing they did after getting the check cashed was go shopping and get Ben a pair of sumo slammer boxers, then off to the food court for him to get the taste of the baby food and formula out of his system, though he wasn't able to eat his full order. 23 joked about how they should of gotten him a happy meal as he wiped up the chilli stains off of Ben's face. after that it was time to go home and Ben gave 23's hand a shake. "..ok, you saved my ass from having to move back home..buttt don't expect me to come back here till this ad campaign is over and done." Ben said. "heh, come on, didn't a SMALL part of you have fun?" 23 asked. "hahahaha NO. Today was the most horrible day of my life, and with the shit I've been though, thats saying something. Maybe you can come over to MY universe sometime and be a diaper boy for me though." "heh. or just show up with a diaper bag." "..Shutting up." with that Ben went back to his home universe, very much richer. Or so he thought.
as it turned out their money while looking the same on the outside, was made differently and raised all sorts of flags when Ben went to go and deposit it in his universe. there was a public cry of outrage that a hero like Ben would try and destabilize a local economy like that, and there was talks of official charges of counterfeiting and maybe even jail time. Not even able to get his cash back, and the Plumbers having to give him the cold shoulder publicly to save face, Ben decided to take a little bit of a vacation (2-7 months while the plumbers legal team got him out of the mess) back in universe 23, figuring that 23 owned him, AND wanting to give him a piece of his mind.
"baby Ben! back so soon?" 23 asked, delighted as a red faced Ben made it to his pent house. on the way over Ben had been recognized, teased and scolded for not being in his diapers and had seen billboard with him in all his blacked out diaper baby glory. "ha.Ha. we have a problem." Ben said, and then nodded to 23's couch. "mind if I take a seat?" "Only if you promise not to make a puddle." 23 joked, but moved aside as Ben came in and flopped down. Ben spent the next 10 minutes explaining out what had happened, as 23 looked upset and shook his head. "Man, that sucks. I'm sorry, i didn't know!" 23 said. "well, I need a place to stay for a little while till i get the OK to go back..so I was wondering if y-" "would put you up here for a few months, heh,. that can be arranged. don't think you'll be able to get a place on your own here unless you just did more commercials though, rent in the city has gone up since i live here." "Not like i have a penny to my name anyways, and was gonna ask if you'd rent me a place..Buttt staying here I guess won't be so bad." Ben said with a little smile. "there is a small price I'd like you to pay..But in return for humoring me on this onnnne tiny little thing, I swear you'll want for nothing while staying with me. all the junk food you could want and any video games, the whole nine yards." 23 said, blushing a little now. "..why am i getting a bad feeling about this?" Ben asked. "well see.. they didn't need the stuff they used in your commercial after you left..so they gave it to me for free..and you were just SO god damn cute.." 23 said, getting up and leading Ben to yup, a recreation of the nursery from the set. "FUCK NO!" "oh come on Ben! i promise! no baby food this time and pop in your baby bottles! Pleasssse?" 23 asked, bringing his hands together. "why in the world would i agree to do that for a few months? I could just go do anther commercial, then get my own place here!?" Ben pointed out. "one, because as your agent I control whether you do anther shoot, it's actually part of the contract, two, if I tell my bank not to cash your check who else do you think will cover that much. three, and this is the kicker. where else can you go to with ease to hide out? you really think mad Ben is gonna welcome you with open arms?" "..Fuck my life!"
And so one week after promising himself he'd never be a big baby again, Ben found himself in two of the thick blue diaper's  and in a t-shirt top, crawling behind behind 23 and pouting like crazy. "Don't you think top is over kill?" Ben whined. "I'm the one paying for them. so just shush and look adorable." "Not funny." Ben pouted and then realized it would be harder then hell to get off and on the couch's and just sat on his diaper butt in the living room. "So what d-" "I want chilli cheese fires, I want a two liter of coke, and I want the latest sumo slammer game five minutes ago!" Ben huffed then grinned. "..Demanding aren't we?" "and i quote: I swear you'll want for nothing. I want all of that." Ben said smugly. "you know, i could of just spanked you." 23 teased, going to grab the phone and make the food order. instead of Ben telling him off however, the threat had a amusing and smelly effect instead. Ben froze at the memory of that and then well, with him being double diapered it was a little hard to tell since there was no smell, but 23 could of sworn Ben just got a little taller. "heh, Did somebody just make me a present?" "NO!...yes." "Good boy. I'll change you after you eat, if your a good boy." 23 said and winked. "...this is gonna be a long 2 months."

notes *this is the version of the song they cover
chapter 5: We drive, We Film
The music is blaring when Atsumu pulls up. He's bobbing his head along to the guitar, hardly sparing you a glance as you slide into the passenger seat. Despite that, you offer a quick greeting as the car speeds off before you even finish putting your seatbelt on. You nod along to the familiar song as the two of you shoot through the street,
“And I don't care if you're sick, I don't care if you're contagious,” you begin Atsumu chiming in matching your pitch.
“I would kiss you even if you were dead” “Would somebody make me go blind for the rest of my life, cause I’d do anything to hold your hand.”
You find your hand hanging out the window as you two sing along to the rest of the song. Once it ends, Atsumu lowers the volume, enough to have a conversation. “I see ya changed from a sweaty slob and are now looking better.” You roll your eyes at the bassist, and had he not been driving you probably would’ve resorted to slapping the back of his head. “Why do I willingly hang out with you. And, where are we going anyways?” You question, remembering your promise to Iwaizumi
You ignore his comment about you clearly not having any other friends as you send a message to Iwaizumi confirming your location. You let out a little laugh at Iwaizumi’s complaint about the blonde always running his plans, before locking your phone. “Who ya texting?” Atsumu takes his first real look at you for the night as he slows at the red light. “Iwa, just telling him if I die tonight it's all your fault.Your driving fucking sucks” You follow up the sentence flicking off your friend who looks unbothered.
“Speaking of our dear Iwa, you know something that me and Kuroo don't.” Your eyes widen just the tiniest bit as he grants you a knowing smirk. “But I’ll let that go for now. How's the tattoo healing?” Just like that Atsumu’s voice shifts into a more serious tone and you groan loudly. You instantly catch on to the real meaning of the question. How are you doing?  “Not you too”.
“C’mon, I’m just checking on ya (Y/N). Making sure you’re ok. Took me a minute but then I remembered you showed me the picture a few months ago.” His gaze focuses back on the road giving you at least the relief from his stare down. “First Iwa, now you. And I know Kuroo is gonna pick my brain the second he gets the chance,” your words come out in a huff of annoyance. “What can we say, we care about ya. The band would flop without our front man.” His tease is enough to lighten the tension that began to grow as you rolled your eyes again. “Our combined hotness would drop by like 90% without me.”
“More like 5%” He could only laugh as you promptly told him to go to hell, as you turned the music back up some. The rest of the drive was void of any conversation. The only noises coming from the radio and any time either of you would sing along to what was playing out. Atsumu would only shoot you annoyed looks, whenever you’d skip one of the songs he had to which you'd just shrug without a care.
“Hey Samu.” You and Atsumu spoke at the same time as you slid into the booth. “What are you two sharing a single brain cell now?” Your look of disgust is enough to cause the gray haired twin to laugh. “The only thing I’d ever share with Atsumu is my foot up his ass.”
“That’s a real cute way of saying you’re the dumb one of us.” The blonde catches the wrist of your arm that aims a punch at his shoulder easily. “Take you and your shitty dye job over there next to your brother,” you mutter pushing your bandmate out of the booth next to you. He obliges, moving so that him and Osamu are both sitting across from you.
“Now Tsumu’s stupidity is gonna seep into my head.”
 ----
“Hello boys, and piss head,” you greet cheerily as you enter the unlocked door of Iwaizumi’s place. You shift the drink carrier in your hand as you remove your bag, lightly placing it on the floor. The owner only raises his eyebrows at you while your guitarist just laughs.”What’d he do now,” You make your rounds handing off the coffee drinks you’d bought for your bandmates. You stop by Iwaizumi first who accepts it with a grateful smile. Next is Kuroo, who raises the cup in thanks. “Every time I hang out with him, I wonder why I do. He sucks,” you speak before handing Atsumu his drink. “Osamu really is the better twin, not by much though.”
“You claim to hate me, yet you bring me food. Thanks mom,” the bassist mocks. You mutter something about it being the only thing that gets him to shut up before shifting your attention towards Kuroo. “Hey, can you go get our instruments, couldn’t hold them cause of the drinks.” He only nods, you asking him to please lock your door after.
“We’re filming that song today right?” You nod at Atsumu’s question. While he goes back to typing away on his phone you settle onto the couch next to Iwaizumi. He looks at you and you raise your eyebrows in excitement. He shoots you a small smile and a thumbs up, and you struggle to contain your excitement. You shoot him a knowing look that the two of you have to talk later as Kuroo enters carrying both your guitar cases. “Bring my drink down would you,” is the only thing he says before making his way towards the basement. The three of you wordlessly follow.
“Why are we doing this song again,”
“Come on old man, it’ll be fun, plus our dear (Y/N) gets to show off that growl today. Doesn't happen very much,” Kuroo smirks at Iwaizumi, shooting you a quick look from where you are tuning your guitar. “Plus, the viewers wanted us to do Gaga.”
“Oh, you're just happy ya get to be heard more with this song,” Atsumu chimes in before fiddling with his bass. “Maybe,” is Kuroos response as he sits on a stool to tune his own instrument. “Besides, Judas is a pretty badass song. And our arrangement is pretty sick.” Iwaizumi can’t help but agree with you, opting to get the video equipment set up. After he finished you all ran through the song a few times before you were ready to go.
“Hey guys, we’re Mirrors For Friends,” the four of you said in unison. Before introducing yourselves as individuals. “So, you guys asked, and we answered. You all wanted us to do Lady Gaga so bad,” Kuroo started before pausing for his self-proclaimed dramatic effect. “So, Judas here we are.”
 ----
“Judas- Gaga” You practically screamed out the last words of the songs, before bursting out into laughter. The entirety of the song both Kuroo and Atsumu were making ridiculous facial expressions at one another, and with you being in the middle of the two, you saw it all. That, paired with post singing adrenaline and the fact that you all were even singing it in the first place seemed absolutely comical You had been so caught in laughter that you didn’t even notice Iwaizumi come up from behind his drums to nudge at camera perched on the tripod in front of you.
“Fuck- do you guys see what I have to go through with these guys. Iwa is the only normal one,” you joked out after your laughter died down. You ignored the said members exclamations about not being that bad. “Alright that's it for us today, we hope you enjoyed, and we’ll see you when we see you.” You stuck up a peace sign heading towards the camera and picking it up. “Say bye you idiots.
You first pointed the camera at Kuroo who was the closest to you. “I feel like (Y/N) is catching my double chin at this angle. Stream our songs and we love you.” With that Kuroo just walked off the frame, and you turned towards Atsumu. “Say bye to the video fake blondie.”
“I just want to say that I’m the hottest member of the band and-hey” Atsumu exclaimed as you just cut his segment short, before walking to Iwaizumi.
“You know the drill Iwa. Your turn” This time you moved the camera up and down as if you were giving the audience a chance to check him out. “Now this is the real hottest member of this band,” you teased before aimling back towards his face. You stifled your laugh at Atsumu and Kuroo in the background yelling for him to take his shirt off. “I hate this band. See you all in the next video.” With your drummers closing you stopped the recording before letting out a sigh of relief.
“Well that was exhausting,” you automatically made your way to the couch where you had your laptop resting. “I can probably get this edited and uploaded by tomorrow guys.” You felt the couch dip next to you and the voice of the band’s guitarist. “I can do it. I know it's been an interesting week for you,” he gestures towards your ribcage, where your new tattoo rests under your tshirt. The tone of his voice lets you know there’s no point in countering. When Iwaizumi gets into his band labeled ‘dad’ mode, you won't win. “You're acting as if I have a choice,” you huff handing him the camera’s memory card.
“Shit- guys, I gotta go. I forgot the team got a last-minute practice match with another school,” Atsumu’s panicked voice cut through the room. “Were done here right?” He looked between the three of you sighing in relief as he quickly started putting up his instrument. “Hey, don’t forget next week we’re at Bauhaus.” He only nodded mindlessly, before making his way to the stairs, before stopping halfway. “That's the 3rd, right?”
Kuroo’s thumbs out caused him to practically run up the stairs and out the door. Once the bassist leaves, he plopped himself next to you on the other side of the couch. “So lovely band members of mine, what secret are you two keeping from me and Tsumu.”

“Really?” you huffed out before letting your head drop backwards, frustration coursing through your veins. You took a minute to pout before looking back up, reading the text over again before shooting an annoyed Ok. in response.
Your boyfriend, Chris, had just cancelled on you again. In all honesty, you weren’t very surprised. The two of you had been dating for 5 months, but lately, it felt like you were drifting apart.
You couldn’t really be mad at him about the situation, because he wasn’t the only one pulling away. Neither of you were really that interested anymore, but you were both too scared to actually break it off.
Tap, tap, tap.
You jumped up at the sound, unable to conceal the smile that appeared on your face when you glanced out the window. It was none other than Peter Parker, your lifelong best friend who always managed to show up at just the right time.
“Everything okay?” he asked after crawling through the now open window, being sure to close it behind him. “You seem a little down.”
“Eh,” you shrugged, “Chris cancelled on me again. It’s okay though, I kinda saw it coming. I just don’t have anyone to go to the fair with anymore.”
“That really sucks,” Peter sat down onto the floor, making a light thump noise, “Hey, if you want, I could go with you to the fair—”
“Really?” you squealed, jumping up from your spot on the bed, “Yes! It’ll be so much fun! We can ride the dropper, and the swings, and then the ferris wheel…”
As you continued to elaborate on all of the fun you’d have, you never once noticed Peter’s gaze. It followed you from the floor as you walked in circles, and his cheeks were tinted a rosy pink. His crush on you was common knowledge to most at this point, but you’d remained blissfully unaware.
“Y-yeah,” he smiled, “I can’t wait!”
— -
“Come on, Pete!” you tugged his hand and dragged him forward as he stumbled behind you.
“I am coming!”
You halted to a stop at the ticket booth before giving the cashier a big smile. “Two wristbands, please!”
She glanced between you and Peter before speaking back through the small silver mic. “That’ll be twenty dollars with the added couples discount.”
“O-oh, we’re not—” Peter began, only to be interrupted by you.
“Great!” you slid a twenty dollar bill across the counter, winking at Peter when the lady slid back two wristbands in return.
“Why’d you do that?” he asked with curiosity as you walked away from the booth. He quickly fastened your bracelet onto your wrist, holding out his own for you to help with once he’d finished.
“It saved us some money, didn’t it?” you shrugged, “Fairs are expensive enough as it is, and we’re broke highschoolers. I’ll take all the discounts I can get.”
As the night continued on, you and Peter hopped from ride to ride, letting out yelps of joy as they spun you around. You even played a few games, winning a large stuffed Spider-Man from Peter.
“It looks just like you!” you giggled, squeezing it tight to your chest. It was soft, and just the perfect size to snuggle with. Peter laughed lightly in return, secretly wishing that you’d hug him like that one day, too.
— -
“Let’s ride the ferris wheel before we leave!” it was a few hours since you’d arrived at the fair when you pointed in the direction of the large ride, the lights reflecting in your eyes. Peter nodded in agreement, and before you knew it, he was above you in the white cart, extending a hand for you to grab.
“Why thank you, good sir,” you winked, taking his hand as he gently pulled you up into the cart.
He bowed down jokingly before taking his seat. “Of course, M’lady.”
You giggled, which made him giggle, which evolved into a laugh, which just made you laugh even harder. It was a laughing fit; one that left your stomach aching even after the giggles died down.
You couldn’t remember the last time Chris had made you laugh like that.
The cart was moving up slowly as the operators allowed more people to board, eventually allowing you to reach the top of the wheel and sit there for a moment. The view was beautiful; you could see all the lights of the fair below you, but beyond that the city in the distance lit up the night sky. There were almost no clouds, and the stars were shining brighter than you’d ever seen.
“Wow,” Peter breathed, gazing out across the fairgrounds, “It’s really pretty up here.”
You were about to agree, but for some reason, your voice caught in your throat. Something about the way his curls swayed in the breeze and the way his brown eyes lit up with adoration rendered you speechless.
“So, how are things with Chris?” the second Peter uttered those words, the spell was broken, and you were brought back into reality.
“Uh…” you paused, unsure of how to answer, “To tell you the truth, I really don’t know. I feel like… our relationship has kinda died out, ya know? We haven’t seen each other in like, two weeks, but it hasn’t really affected me. I think that we’re just holding on because neither of us want to be the one to end things, but there isn’t anything there for us anymore. Plus… I think I’ve been slowly falling for somebody else.”
The more you thought about it, the more you realized that you really weren’t that upset over Chris. You felt like you barely knew him anymore. Not only that, but you felt like he might be holding you back from finding somebody else; somebody you really had a future with.
“Maybe you should tell the person how you feel…”
Your head jerked up as you looked into the sparkling eyes of Peter. “M-Maybe I will…”
He gave you a soft smile, but as soon as you grabbed his hand, his eyes blew open in shock.
“Pete?” you whispered, casting your gaze to the worn out gray floor of the cart, “Can I tell you something?”
“Of course—” you were already interrupting him before he could finish his sentence, too nervous to hold it in any longer.
“I really like you. A lot. A lot lot.” It was silent for a moment before he lightly grasped your chin, tilting your head up so you were gazing into his eyes. They were bright and happy, and you were almost certain that you could feel the warmth radiating from them.
“Y/N, I…” his eyes flickered from your eyes to your lips a few times before he leaned in, only to be stopped by a finger placed lightly on his lips.
“I’m not single yet, Parker,” you raised an eyebrow at him, “I may like you, but I’m no cheater. This can’t go any further until Chris and I are officially done.”
“Of course, of course,” he nodded and rubbed the back of his neck, the blush on his cheeks standing out against his skin, “I don’t know what I was thinking. I really am an idiot.”
“Only sometimes,” you winked, laughing when he lightly punched your arm, “I’ll talk to Chris as soon as I can. Hopefully he’s free tomorrow.”
— -
“See you around?” the blonde haired boy in front of you asked, tilting his head to the side with a slight smile on his face. Even during a time like this, you had to admire his ability to see the best in every situation.
“Of course, Chris,” you threw him a wave before heading your own way.
As much as the two of you had been expecting this to happen, it still hurt more than you’d thought it would. You weren’t really heartbroken… just a little sad. Even though the relationship had really been dying for a while, it was still the official end of something that had made you happy at one point in time.
You’d been 100% honest with Chris, explaining that what had happened at the fair had really opened your eyes. You made it clear that you hadn’t done anything dishonest with Peter, but you had developed feelings for him near the end of your relationship. Chris was understanding, even explaining to you that he was in a really similar situation with a girl named Liz who lived down his street.
Although you were somewhat upset, you were happy that you could both leave the relationship on amicable terms.
— -
Later that night, you were watching a movie with Peter in your backyard, laying out on a blanket on the grass. His arm was around your shoulders, and even though his touch comforted you, you sat up and scooted away from him.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, worry filling his eyes when he noticed that you were tearing up.
“I— I still like you a lot, Pete. I just need a little while to adjust before we can really dive into this whole relationship thing,” you sniffled, wiping your nose, “It’s just kinda fast. I need you to hold me as a friend, not a boyfriend, right now.” He nodded and opened his arms, allowing you to bury your face in his shoulder.
— -
“Ooh, let’s ride the ferris wheel!” you’d linked your elbow with Peter’s, and your hand rested on his bicep. It was roughly a year since you’d confessed to him, and things were going almost perfectly.
“Hey, Y/N!”
You’d recognize that voice anywhere. Throwing your head over your shoulder, you spot Chris, who’s walking up to you with who you assumed was Liz holding his hand.
The four of you exchanged small talk for a few minutes before you parted ways, feeling slightly awkward but mostly happy. You and Chris hadn’t been right for each other, but you both found the people who were right for you, and that’s what mattered.
“So…” Peter nudged your shoulder with his. The two of you had made your way onto the ferris wheel after your conversation had ended, and the cart was once again stopped at the very top. “It’s been about a year since we were here last…”
“And?” you made a ‘get on with it’ gesture with your hands, wondering what in the world he was about to ask you.
“I was wondering…” he dragged out on purpose, your heart beating a little faster with every second, “If we could kiss at the top? Since we didn’t get to last time.”
“You’re crazy, you know that?” you laughed, leaning up to press a quick kiss to his lips.
“One more? So we can have one for each year.”
“You’re such a piece of work,” you kissed him again before laying your head on his shoulder, “But, you’re my piece of work.”
As silly as Peter was sometimes, you couldn’t deny it; he was the one you were meant to spend your life with.

Daddy issues and Soccer Championships
Peter Parker x Reader ; Tony Stark x Daughter!reader
WC: 3.5k
Summary: He promised but didn’t go in the end
------
Tony Stark.
What word comes to you when you think of him? Playboy? Millionaire? Genius? Fucking iron Man?
To you, he was just dad.
Yeah, he had you due to a one night stand, but he wouldn't have had it any other way. You had a massive family, to say the least but you were grateful.  You’re best friend Peter Parker much to your dad's dismay You and him went to the same school and well were a bit more than friends. Again much to your dad's dismay.
But he was the guy that was so loving and caring. He goes to every one of your soccer games.
In fact you have one this week. You invited most of the avengers and told them to dress normally but that isn't the case when your family is buff as fuck and their only disguise is a hat and a hoodie. Great.
You invited your dad too. You really hoped he come since it was the championship game and well, you wanted him to see you win or lose. It didn't matter as long as he was there.
“Dad,” You called out as you walked into the lab. Peter was here working wiht him, so you shot him a smile and he winked at you. Evidently making you blush. “Are you two done?” Your dad said not looking up from his computer monitor. You nodded then made your way over to him. “NExt week i have my championship game. Will you come?” You asked. He looked at you, “When?” He asked. “The twenty-second.”
“Yes, I promise i’ll see your game.” He said. You smiled then went to talk to peter for a little bit.
It was two days before the game, and you were going on weekends to practice. You played defense and you could argue it was the position with the most work to do.
You ran into the kitchen clad in your soccer uniform ready to head to school. You didn't need to go to school but your team was still going to practice at the school field. You slipped your vans on and held your cleats in your other hand. You opened the fridge and grabbed two water bottles before stuffing them in your backpack. You closed the door and saw Steve, Sam, and Bucky looking at you. Nat was playing a game with Wanda so they didn't look since they were too into the game. “What?” You said. “Are you ready for the game?” Steve asked. “Ha no.” You said bluntly. “You guys are going right?” They nodded. “cool. I better head out before coach makes me run. I'm so tired.” You said before walking to the elevator. You heard them chuckle which made you smile.
----
Practice was over and you were sore everywhere. You slipped on your vans after taking your cleats off, while waiting for Peter. He said he'd walk with you to the compound since he didn't want you to walk alone. You saw Peter out side and wanted to run into his arms but couldn't because you were sore. You finally reached Peter and wrapped your arms around him, “hi baby.” You cooed. He kissed your cheeks and you squirmed away. “Baby no I'm all sweaty and stinky.” He shrugged, “doesn't matter. You are so beautiful even though you stink.” He said chuckling. You shoved him playfully and walked hand in hand to the compound.
You both walked into the compound laughing at something the other said. You Saw some avengers on the floor but you just mumbled a hi and went up to your room. Peter laid on your bed while you showered. He wanted to go with you but he didn't have any other clothes so. You and Peter had been dating for about two years now. And well in those two years things happened. Wink wink. You in wasn't unusual for Peter, a teenage boy, wanting to get in the shower with you and you know do stuff.
You came out of the shower and into the bedroom in a big t shirt and sweats. You saw Peter laying down on your bed so you decided to join him. “You're so warm.” You mumbled into his shoulder. He chuckled. “Why thank you.” He pressed a kiss to you head before nuzzling into you. But you had to get up to close the blinds so the sun could stop hurting you and so you both could take a nap. You threw Peter a pair of his sweats that he had left there, and got into bed. He quickly changed into the sweats and his shirt because he knew Mr.Stark would get mad otherwise. He quickly joined you and pulled you into his arms. “I love you Pete.” You said nuzzling your face into his chest. “I love you too.”
The next day was another day of boring drills and naps at the compound. The day you were waiting for was the day after that. Game day.
You put on your soccer uniform and had your cleats in your hand. You ran out the door leaving the avengers without even a 'hi’ this morning. You'd see them later so it didn't really matter. Either way you needed to leave, or you'd be late. You got to the field and saw people already filling the seats. You played for the school team so you kept seeing familiar faces in the crowd. Including the avengers and your boyfriend.
But nowhere to be seen was your dad. He was just late, he'll be here you thought. You hadn't talked to your dad in days, with him be busy on suit modifications or whatever.
The game started and you were off to a good start. Twenty minutes into the game you saw an avenger coming into the seats, Cap. Or as you call him, Uncle Steve.
The game was over and needless to say, your school won the championship due to your goal right when the game was going to end.
After you kicked the ball to get it into the net and made it you walked back to where you were previously standing not caring to celebrate that goal. But you're best friend on the team had other plans. She jumped on you when you weren't looking taking you down to the floor. Some of your other teammates did the same.
Your team gathered together for a picture with the trophy and you could hear your family cheering the loudest. You could see peter out of your peripheral and smiled as he was jumping up and down, no doubt annoying Sam and Bucky who were next to him.
You got your stuff and readied yourself to leave that's when you felt to arms wrap around you. You turned in their arm, and you saw Peter's chocolate orbs staring back at you. He pulled you in for a sweet kiss and you pulled away with a giggle when you heard somebody clear their throat. “Hey Uncle Steve,” you said. He grabbed you and pulled you into a bear hug, even Sam and Bucky joined in. “Kid you were on fire today.” Sam said. “Thanks.” You breathed out. The you remembered something, or in this case a certain someone. “Where’s dad?” You asked them. They didn’t say anything and that’s when it hit you. He didn’t come.
“He promised.” You said quietly. The guys looked down at the floor, avoiding your sad gaze. You felt sad and you let it be emulated on your face before saying, “Alright let’s go, please.” Resuming your victorious feeling.
Walking into the compound you felt a sense of sadness shoot through you. You remembered your dad. But no the guys don’t need to know you felt sad because your dad wasn’t there even though he promised. You grabbed peter’s hand, and led him up to your room. Only then your dad walked out of the lab and saw you. You quickly dodged his gaze and went inside. A look of confusion spread through his features, but quickly shrugged it off.
FOr the next couple of days you avoided your father at all costs and spent more time with Peter or with your uncles. But right now it was a movie night between you and peter. You both were entangled within each other and needless to say you were content. To say the least. You looked up at peter and pressed a quick kiss to his lips when he wasn’t looking. “What was that for?” He asked, chuckling. You shrugged, “I just love you.” You leaned your head into his neck again, and sighed. “Plain and simple.” Don’t know why but that dind’t sit well with Peter. Something was wrong. To him, he thought you were fine with with your dad and you both were talking. But boy was he wrong. “Baby?” He said, pausing the movie momentarily. You looked up at him, questioning his actions. “Are you ok? You aren’t acting like yourself.” God, he caught on, you thought to yourself. You sighed knowing you’d have to think about it again. “It’s my dad. He promised to go to the soccer game but he didn’t and he’s been acting like it didn’t happen and stuff. I know it’s dumb-” You were cut off by Peter crashing his lips on yours. “Don’t say that. None of your problems are dumb, if they mean this much to you.” God, times like these made you appreciate the fact that he was your boyfriend, not some guy in a story. He was sat on your bed so you crept between his legs and pressed a kiss to his hair. He wrapped his arms around your waist and nuzzled his face into your stomach pressing light kisses to the covered area of your tummy. You giggled, and he looked up at you, eyes beaming up at you. He pulled you down onto the bed, and you shrieked slightly. He laughed at your reaction and hugged you as you smiled.
You ended up falling asleep on top of each other, happily. Peter had to got home so you were stuck alone in your dealing with the problems you faced at hand. Your dad. He hadn’t talked to you in a couple days nor has he acknowledged your presence at all. He was too busy working rather than paying attention to you. Yes, it may sound like you wanted all of his attention but no, you just wanted a sliver of it.
You made your way to the kitchen since you didn’t eat dinner, and he sat there reading something on the tablet. He looked up at you as you entered and his facial features softened. “Hey hun. You hungry?” He asked but you didn’t answer. “Ok,” He drawled. “Y/n are you ok?” You shrugged and took your food to your room. But he wasn’t done with the conversation. He followed you and as you sat down at your desk to eat he spoke up. “y/n i do not appreciate your attitude right now. You haven't talked to me in days and i’m wondering if you are alright now tell me.” He said, his voice raised. “No i’m not alright!” You said as you got up. “You promised to be at my game but you weren't. You promised!” You yelled. “Can’t you see i had more important things to do!” Your face fell and you backed up. “Yes because you prioritize your work over your daughter, right?” Your eyes were tearing up but you wouldn't let him see you cry. “God you are so dramatic! I work to put a roof over your head, so sorry if wasn’t at your game. Sorry i’ve been a horrible father!” He yelled. You laughed, a humorless laugh. “Do not make yourself a victim! Nor will you pull out the ‘I put a roof over your head’ card, it isn’t fair! Now will you please just leave?!” You shouted, he backed out of your room, fuming.
He walked to the lab and sat down on a stool. “FRIDAY, lock me in this room. Don’t let anyone in. Only when i ask open these doors.” He told her. “Are you also including Ms. Y/n?” She asked. “Yes.”
You sat down at your desk and ate your food while doing homework. You didn’t let the tears run down, you distracted yourself.
You looked at the clock and realized it was midnight but you couldn’t sleep, so you drew. You sat at your desk listening to faint Beatle songs. Some reminded you of your father which made you start to cry. Soon enough your silent tears turned into silent sobs. You let the tears run down your face to your drawing and you figured it’d give them character. All you could hear in the dead of night was your quiet sobs and the faint sounds of The Beatles in the distance.
Tony walked down the halls, anger settled down, now regret settled in his stomach. It was 3 in the morning and he figured you wouldn’t be awake. He passed your room and saw the light coming out from the bottom of your bedroom door. He got slightly annoyed at the fact that you were still awake at this hour in the morning. He opened your door and saw your figured slumped over on the desk asleep. He walked over to you and saw the dried tear streaks on your face. He even saw wet tear spots on your drawings. “Aw y/n.” HE said quietly before picking you up and settling you in bed. He turned off your music and closed your laptop. He saw your figure and gave your kiss to your forehead, “I’m Sorry y/n. I love you.”
Before he walked out of your room he heard your quiet, sleepy voice, “I love you too dad.” He smiled before going to his room.
You woke up and realized you were in your bed. Then you remembered your dad carrying you to your bed. You quickly got changed before grabbing your backpack and heading out of your room to go to the kitchen. You saw Bucky and Nat on the couch snuggled together, asleep. Along with Steve and Sam on the floor or on the couch, again asleep.
You quietly gathered your breakfast before walking out the door and getting in the car. You listened to music on your way, eating before you got a call from your father. You contemplated declining but you didn’t. “Hello?” You said monotoned. “Hey y/n you left early huh? I-uh-you forgot your lunch.” He said. You mentally cursed yourself. “Oh, i have money so it’s fine.” You said. There was an awkward tension between the two of you. “Alright dad, i’m here at school so
i-uh have to go,”You said trying to cut away from the conversation, or lack thereof. “Oh yeah of course. But uh- can we talk when you get home?” He asked. “Yeah sure. Bye dad.” You ended the call and went into the school.
While putting books in your locker, Peter came over to you and leaned on the locker next to your. “Hey y/n.” He said. He mumbled a quiet hi before going back to whatever you were doing. “Did you make up with you dad?” You laughed a humorless laugh. “No. Actually he made himself a victim. And basically put me at fault. And now after school he wants to talk to me.” You told him before closing your locker. He cringed at the sound of, ‘wants to talk’. The bell rang, and you kissed him goodbye before separating to go to your classes.
At lunch you explained everything to him about your dad, and he listened. He came home with you, hand in hand. As you walked, you placed your head on his shoulder. You two even bought Delmar sandwiches. You came home to see your dad at the stove, Pepper talking to him from her place at the peninsula. You hugged her hello and went up to your room. You waved at your dad awkwardly before exiting the awkward situation in general.
When you were out of the room, Pepper looked at Tony with an incredulous look. “What?” HE said naively. “You need to fix the problem Tony,” She said simply. He looked at her disbelievingly. “We’re fine.” She raised her brows, “You call an awkward wave instead of a hug, fine?” He shook his head. “I’ll do it when Peter leaves.” He said.
Peter leapt onto your bed and landed with a small “oof”. “Babe, you need to fix your problems with your dad.” He said bluntly. “Bruh, don’t you think i know that. But dad’d too fucking stubborn to do shit.” You said sitting at your desk. “Why don’t you initiate the conversation?” He asked unwrapping his sandwich. You looked at him with your eyebrows raised, “I didn’t do shit! He did. I’m the victim.” He shook his head. “SHit ain’t gonna fix itself, y/n/n.” You shot him a look that said no shit.
Peter left after you both finished homework.  You stayed in your room and just drew on your bed. Queen played as you drew in your sketchbook. The next thing you knew, your dad was walking through the door. “y/n/n can we talk?” He said. You looked up once and then looked back down, “well we’re talking now aren’t we?” You said continuing drawing. “Why are you so mad at me?” He says laying down. “Hey man, you should know by know since it’s been 2 and a half weeks!” You shouted. “Don’t raise your voice at me.” He raises his voice to match yours. “I wouldn’t have to if you actually acknowledged me!” You said falling on your back. He huffs, “WHat do you mean?” He said lowering his voice slightly. “Did you hear i won my soccer championship two and a half weeks ago? Did you?”You asked. HE was silent. You laughed humorlessly, “And you say you care.”
He looked up at you with glassy eyes. “I didn't go because i-” he was cut off by you. “...because you have better things to do with your time than go to my championship game even though you promised. That's what you were going to say right?” He stood up. “Y/n Stark do me a favor and stop saying thing that make me sound like a terrible dad. C'mon man it's hard hearing your own kid basically say you're a shit dad.” He said. You just sat there. “I'm sorry I didn't go to your game and I really don't have a way to justify it but I'm just really sorry. But I have footage of the game, if that makes up for it.” That last sentence peaked your interest. “What do you mean footage?”
“I sent a drone to record the game, j haven't watched it since I've been too busy but I was going to.” He said. “I'm sorry y/n/n I should've gone.”
You sighed. “It's ok dad, I forgive you.”
He leaned over to hug you and you leaned into his touch. You missed your dad and his hugs. “Alright i need to get to work in the lab,” He said starting to walk out. You nodded as he walked out the room.
Just then a knock at the window interrupted you drawing. You saw the red and blue suit wave at you through the window, and giggled at his antics. You walked over to the window, shirt lifting up as you did. He groaned as he took off his mask and crawled in. “How did it go with your dad?” He said groaning. You pressed your hand to the spider on his chest and was entranced with se it fall. “Hey, take it picture it'll last longer.” He said teasingly. He brought his knees up to his chest and leaned against the bed. He spread his knees apart and brought his hands out to tell you to lean against him. “How’d it go?”
“Good. i forgave him.” You told him drawing figures on his chest. He grabbed your wrist and mumbled, “tickles.”
“Wanna stay?” You asked. He nodded. “God finally. I couldn’t see your dad for the duration of that fight.” he joked. You shoved his chest slightly. “Babe, it seems you love my dad more than me.” He chuckled. You moved onto the bed and waited for Peter to join you. “I could never.” He came over to spoon you. He leaned his head on your neck and started to doze off.
Soon enough you realized that Peter would rather sacrifice his relationship with you dad and his internship, and loved you more. You loved peter and you knew this but it was a pretty shit time to realize it. But Peter was just Peter and that’s why you loved him.

Mad Predictions
TITLE: Mad Predictions
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 10
AUTHOR: inspired-snowflace
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: “A freedom restrained the sun shall invoke, The gift from the plea a mother spoke, Purpose shall be bestowed upon your life, In form of one you should have called wife, A lover presumed dead shall be back, Now shall you truly pay for your attack.”
Ever since the fortune teller had spilt these words, Loki’s life was thrown into a hurricane. He dared to hope that after the attack on New York and the following arrest, things would get better, but these words seemed to point in an opposite direction.
Things would never remain the same, for better or worse.
RATING: Everyone
NOTES/WARNINGS: None. Updates earlier on my tumblr!!
RECAP : The avengers win over the Chitauri. But the reader realises that that the weapon aimed towards her hit Loki. She uses last of her energy to heal him before slipping into darkness.
The next time you woke up, you saw so much light, that you screwed your eyes shut. For the time being, you tried to concentrate on how your body felt. All you felt was numbness. So this is how it feels to die, you thought.
When you dared to open your eyes again, you blinked furiously to get used to the immense amount of light. Your vision kinda remained hazy, so you closed them again . As you got more used to the surroundings, you heard a soft beeping in the background, like that of a clock. But it was different, it was not consistent, right now it was speeding up. You felt unsettled with your eyes closed, so you decided to open them up. You saw a man looming in front of you.
“God?” You asked.
“You wish!!” the man scolded. “Well, I have brought you cheeseburgers, so I guess that IS kinda true.”
The cheeky voice. Hands wielding cheeseburgers. The proud grin. Of course, he wasn’t God!! You would recognise him anywhere.
It was Tony Stark.
“Team, the death girl lives!! She is awake!!” Tony shouted proudly in his earpiece. As he came more into focus, you saw that his eyes were bloodshot.
“Tony…” was all you managed.
Suddenly there was a sharp movement near your right hand and the numbing sensation was replaced by pain. It took you time to get the second figure into focus. Raven hair. Green clothes. Pale face. It was Loki. His movement made you think that he just had dozed off near your hand.
“Hi Loki” You said.
“Wait! He gets a hi and all I get is Tony? Y/N, That is completely unfair.” Tony said, feigning hurt.
Loki’s eyes were focused on you. He softly takes your hand and a green string of energy shoots towards you and you instantly felt more energised. You noticed that Loki’s eyes were as bloodshot as Tony’s. The pain began to subside.
The door opened and all the avengers came flooding in. Huge smiles imprinted on their faces. Thor jumped forward, presumably to squeeze you in a bear hug, but Tony stopped him.
Wanda came forward and a few red wisps of energy flew towards you. Instantly, everything became stark clear. You realised that the beeping you heard was actually the heart monitor and you lied on a hospital bed with various pipes and wires attached to you. The entire team stood in front of you. You raised yourself to a seating position.
“Hey Guys.” You said with a smile.
“Ok. So reindeer games gets a hi and they get a hey along with a heart melting smile and all I get is Tony… Nice Y/N, I see where this is going.” Tony said.
You looked at Tony and smiled. You noticed again that his eyes were red.
“You cried.” You told him matter-of-factly.
“What? No!! I asked Burger King to make their sauce extra spicy.” He replied.
“Stop lying, Tony!! Y/N, Tony cried each day that you were here. He kept saying things and ways how you could be saved, how he should have installed Chitauri incinerating controls in his suits. He brought burgers everyday when he visited you.” Natasha explained.
“How many days have I been here?” you asked when you noticed that Natasha said ‘everyday’.
“Seven days.” Steve replied.
“That is thoroughly incorrect. She has been here for 6 days, 18 hours and…” he checked his watch. “…. 43 minutes now.”
“We were half afraid you were aiming to break Cap’s record.” Clint quipped, joining Tony’s attempt to make it appear less of a hospital.
“Tony remembers the time because he was kicked out thrice, with time bans, when he tried to convince the doctors that you should not be given blood, but Burger King’s sauce.” Bruce said.
“Hey! Hey! Hey! But you need to admit that Dr. Pence was actually convinced.” Tony quipped back.
All of you laughed at that one, including you. Ahhh! It felt good to be alive. You noticed that Loki wasn’t laughing. His eyes were frozen on you. He noticed that you made eye contact.
“And how did you guys save me?” You inquired with genuine interest.
“By feeding you Burger King sauce. That worked like ambrosia.” Tony replied.
Steve rolled his eyes, like he did at all of Tony’s jokes. However, the next words were unexpected.
“The credit of all that goes to Loki. He used your comm to call us. It appears that after you slipped into unconsciousness, the effect wore off and the comms were usable. We picked you up and took you to the hospital. And then asked him to explain.” Natasha explained.
Steve continued, “He told us the truth but we didn’t believe him. We thought he might have done something to you and I heavily regretted leaving you in his care. Ultimately, Wanda looked into his mind and found out that he was telling the truth. He told us everything about your past, about Thanos and about the soul stone.”
You frowned. The soul stone. “Wait… Why didn’t I … you know… die??”
“Well, we didn’t hear the conversation but your last words scared the shit outta all of us. But then we found out something, thanks to Hawkeye, and then we were finally able to breathe in relief.” Bruce said.
Hawkeye continued, “Well you can see that you no longer have a scar on your head. The orange glow has disappeared. That means that you gave up the soul stone’s power rather than your life. So soul for a soul was true.”
You would have been overjoyed, but you frowned and made an attempt to use your powers. Indeed, they no longer worked. Seeing you frown, Thor asked, “Are you feeling ok, Lady Y/N?”
“So…” You made eye contact with every avenger. “… without my powers, I am no longer part of this group?” you questioned as the tears started to well.
“That is about as likely as me abandoning the Burger King sauce.” Tony said while rolling his eyes.
“Y/N, are you mad? Or do you just consider us selfish? Without you, this team is incomplete. You are family to us, Y/N.” Steve chastised, however his tone was soft.
“Really?” you said fully happy. “I love you guys!!” you exclaimed.
“And we, you!!” Wanda replied with a grin.
“Besides, Y/N, I still need somebody to beat me in a burger contest.” Tony said.
“Man of Iron, I did beat you at that! I won by approximately 62 burgers.” Thor protested.
“Dude! You are a God. You don’t count. And besides you left the last burger incomplete, so I am still counting it as 61.86.” was what Tony made his comeback.
In this bickering only Natasha noticed your sad face. “What’s with the frowns, sweetheart?”
“Well, I wont be able to help you guys anymore…” you said sadly.
“Oh!! Y/N, I can make you a suit.”
“Thanks Tony. But my forte is magic. I am not good with machines.” You smiled sadly while looking at your hands, hoping for the powers to return.
“Or else..” Nat said “…Loki can teach you magic.” You look wide-eyed at Loki who was still staring at you. You had momentarily forgotten his presence. Only after Nat’s words, did he leave you to look at her.
“Natasha, are you sure?” Clint threw caution to the wind.
Natasha sat at the end of your bed and replied, “The guy has been sitting there since the moment you arrived hear. He reads Asgardian charms to you to lessen the pain. He didn’t let any of us replace him. He just sat there seldom eating and sleeping, that too, after we told him that you would require energy when you wake up and none of us, except him and Wanda can do that, and to give you said energy he would need some himself. All this to be there when you open your eyes. That is, my friends, true love.”
Loki looked shock when the assassin praised him. He expected her to badmouth about him to you. Suddenly, he developed a new kind of respect for her.
“Yeah. I am not that heartless. Atleast, Y/N deserves a happy ending. Unless Y/N thinks something else.” She continued when she caught Loki’s expression.
He didn’t dare look at Y/N, for the fear of seeing disgust etched on her face. But when her hands cupped him cheeks, he looked at her, bewildered.
“So… Will you teach me magic…. And then we can continue to being lovers?” you asked with a smile.
“Guys, get a room already!!” Tony said while making gagging and coughing sounds. Everyone ignored him.
Loki spent two full minutes trying to comprehend your words. Realising you were serious, tears rolled down his cheeks.
“Oh norns, Yes, Y/N, Yes!! I shall teach you all I know about magic. I swear in the presence of everyone in this room that, I shall protect you with my life. I am so sorry!! So so sorry, Y/N!!” Loki cried out.
“We can visit Asgard too!! My family awaits there.” You said while smiling happily, while thinking about the future.
–THE END
A/N : Guys, Wait !!! We still have an epilogue. ;) ;)

FP Jones (Part 1)
I sat on Betty's bed, listening to my Aunt Alice, Lecture me, once again, about how irresponsible I was being and how I needed to be a better role modal to my younger cousin Betty. A cousin who by the way is 16 yrs old.
"I mean did you think I wouldn't find out!" She yelled. "You're my niece, I find out everything." I rolled my eyes but kept listening, although I had heard it all before.
"That pit is no place for a girl like you Y/N." She continued. "And allowing Betty to follow you after I told you both to stay away from that place!". I sat there, feeling the anger build up until I blew.
"Alice, I'm 25 yrs old. I can take care of myself and as for Betty, she was there before I got there with Jug." I told her, finally having enough of her yelling at me." The Serpents know who we are and they don't or won't hurt us."
"Betty knows better that to go to a place like the Whyte Wyrm. She's smart." She told me.
"She is smart." I agreed.
"Look, you're family and I only want to keep you safe from those people. They're no good for this town and they..."
"Who's 'They' Aunt Alice, The Serpents? You used to be one of 'them'." I reminded her, "I am one of them."
She looked at me shocked.
"How...What?" She stuttered, You know about my past?"
"Oh, yeah I've heard a lot about the great Alice Smith, the would be Serpent queen. Made the current Serpents look like Kids playing dress up, the way she handled business. Then she turned her back on her family, turned her nose up at the people who once fought side by side with her and she chose to write bullshit stories, blaming the South side for every little thing that whet wrong in her  little north side," I yelled.
"Y/N you don't understand...I...It's..." She stuttered after a couple of minutes.
"I understand perfectly fine. Alice Cooper is a bullshit stirring, back stabbing witch." I yelled. "And I don't want to be here if she's going to be hypocritical. So I'm going to stay with somebody who cares and trust in my Serpent life." I told her grabbing my shoes and keys. "When 'Alice Smith' decides she wants her family back, I'll be at the Wyrm." I told her as I left.
I walk outside into the pouring rain and walked over to Fred Andrews front door and Knocked. I smiled when Fred answered the door. I stood there in the pouring rain, without a coat, smiling sadly.
"Hey, Mr Andrews, my Aunt and I had a fight and I needed to get away, could I use your phone, mines broke and I need to call for a ride?" I asked hopefully. As expected Fred nodded and moved aside, allowing me to enter his home. I followed after him, into the kitchen where he handed me the landline, a small, friendly smile on his lips.
I thanked him and I took the phone and called a number I knew too well. After a few rings and no answer, I called another number I had called a thousand times. By now Fred had left me alone to make my calls as I waited quietly until a voice I knew rang through the phone.
"The Wyrm" he called into to the phone.
"Bug-eye, hey, It's Y/N"
"Hey, he's in his office, I'll patch you through." The bartender chuckled, knowing full well who I was calling for. A couple seconds later the line went quite, then, Finally, the voice I'd long to hear all day rang through the phone. FP Jones, the only person in the world who makes me feel safe, even in the most dangerous situations.
"Y/N? What's wrong?" He asked down the phone, worry laced in his voice.
"FP, can you come pick me up?" I begged.
"What? why? what happened?" He asked frantically.
"Alice was butting in my business and started yelling at me, so I yelled back and pretty much called her a hypocritical bitch for yelling at me for hanging out at the Wyrm and turning my back on my family when she did pretty much the same thing when she turned her back on the Serpents and married a 'Cooper'." I told him. I head him laugh and I smiled.
"Where are you now?" He asked, I heard movement and the jingle of keys as he spoke.
"Fred Andrews place, I needed to use his phone to call you. Jughead still has mine after the last time I was at the Wyrm." I told him.
"OK, stay there, I'll be there ASAP, do you need me to bring anything?"
"My Jacket and you." I chuckled into the phone.
"That I can do, I'll see you soon OK?"
"OK." I replied before I hung up.
I put the phone down and looked up to see Archie stood by the door, a confused look on his face.
"Archie." I nodded.
"Y/N, what you doing here?" He asked.
"Alice and I had a fight and I left. My phone is broke so I asked your dad if I could use yours." I smiled.
"All sorted?" Fred asked from behind Archie. "Did you get a hold of FP?" I looked up at him surprised but nodded.
"Yeah, he's on his way, told me to stay here, if that's OK by you." I smiled and he nodded.
"Well I wouldn't make you stand outside." He chuckled, "Although it has stopped raining." He joked.
"How did you know I called FP?" I asked.
"I'm his best friend, he tells me everything." He shrugged.
"OH, cool." I grinned.
"So, what happened to your phone?" Archie asked walking over to the fridge, grabbing a soda and offered me one but I shook my head smiling.
"I'm good, Thanks." I told him. "There was a drunk guy at the Wyrm last week, tried hitting on me but Jughead saw and tried to tell the guy to back off. But the guy just laughed him off and kept on pushing. Next thing you know there are about 30 Serpents around us and my phone was stepped on." I explained.
"Sounds bad." Fred spoke up.
"Nah, Juggie took the phone and is taking a look at it, I feel sorry for the guy who was hitting on me...the serpents took that pretty badly."
"Why would Jughead care if some guy was hitting on you?" He asked confused. I was about to explain when there was a knock I the front door, I stood up in time to see the door open and in walked FP.
"You OK?" He asked once he reached me. I nodded and he pulled me into his arms.
"Yeah, just had enough of her shit so I left." I shrugged.
"I see." FP chuckled.
"She's always acting all high and mighty with her stupid paper, acting as if she wasn't once of the people who she spends so much time dragging into the dirt." I huffed feeling the anger build up once again.
"She'll get over self eventually." FP shrugged, letting me go.
"Not before she loses everyone she cares about." I laughed.
"Alice Cooper will need you help one day and when that day comes she'll regret every stupid thing she ever said about the Serpents." Archie added. "I've seen the looks she gives to Jughead, If looks could kill Jug would hive been killed a thousand times by now." He laughed.
"I've been given that look many times." FP laughed.
"I have yet to get that look, I have however been given the 'Serpents are no good for this family' speech" I told them. Everyone laughed.
"Come on, Let's get over to the Wyrm, Bug-eye's got a drink ready and waiting." FP told me.
"What a guy!" I joked as I followed behind FP, making my way out the door.
"Wait, you're going the Wyrm? After what happened last time?" Archie asked.
"Well, yeah, it's where the Serpents go to let off steam and I am, after all, a Serpent." I told him as I continued walking.
"Thank you so much for letting me use your phone Fred." I smiled back to the eldest Andrews man.
"Yeah, thanks for taking care of my girl Freddy." FP called back. I reached FP's bike and I spotted  my Serpent jacket that was resting on the back of the bike.
As I grabbed my jacked I spotted Alice stood at her front door, her eyes glued to FP, until he walked over to me and her eyes landed on me. I pulled my jacket on and smiled at her. FP, handed placed a helmet on my head and I grinned up at him. I grabbed his jacket and pulled him down to my face,
"Thank you for coming to my rescue Jones." I smiled up at him. "You're my hero."
"Anything for you Smith." He grinned and lent down, placing a soft, loving kiss on my lips, "Now, down let's get you a drink before we head back to my place, Jug and Betty are there."
We climbed on the back of his bike and he took off, but not before I got a good look at Alice who was shooting me her world famous death glare, the one reserved especially for 'Serpent Trash' like myself and my family.
We pulled up outside the Wyrm and climbed of the bike. FP grabbed my hand and we walked into the bar.
"Well, looky here!" Bugeye called as he spotted us. "If it isn't the Serpent king and his Queen, Y/N the bad-ass!" He called as we walked over to the bar. The whole bar cheered and FP grabbed the beer Bugeye handed him and raised it to the room.
"To Smith...FINALLY free of Alice Coopers control!" FP Toasted, wrapping his arms around me.
"To Smith!" The room cheered back before carrying on with what ever they were doing.
"To my Serpent Queen, long may she reign by my side and kick my ass when I need to step shit up." FP muttered in my ear. I turned and touched my glass to his.
"To the Serpent Queen." I smiled back but instead of taking a drink, I kissed him softly.
"You know, now that you're free of Alice, nothing is stopping you from moving in with Jug and I?"
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, you need a place to stay, I need you to be with me. It's a win, win." He shrugged.
"What about Jughead, he has a say in this to you know?"
"Actually, I already asked him, he was here when you called. I asked if he minded you staying a few days and he said he didn't mind at all and if you wanted you could make the stay permanent." FP told me.
"Wait, you really want me to move in with you?" I asked him shocked. He had been joking for a while about me moving in with the boys to get out of the Cooper house. I never really thought he ment it.
"I am, Y/N Smith, will you move in with me?" He asked, I grinned and nodded.
"Of course I will." I replied.
"That's good because Betty and Jug are already took my truck and have gone to grab your stuff before Alice has chance to burn it all." He laughed.
"Great, I 'll be needing that stuff." I laughed back.
We stayed at the Wyrm for a couple more hours until FP got a text from Jughead.
"Right baby, let's go home." He told me.
"Home, I like the way you say that." I grinned up him as he pulled me up and lead me to his bike out front.
"Come on baby, we're going home." He winked as we climbed on the bike and we set off.
The Journey how was short and soon enough we pulled up outside FP and Jughead place. Well, my place too now.
I barely even climbed off the bike before  the door to the trailer opened and out came Jug and Betty.
"Hey guys," I waved, placing my helmet back on the bike.
"Did you get everything sorted?" FP asked the two young serpents.
"Yep." Jug smiled holding up a piece of paper and a key. Betty disappeared and came out holding a box.
"This is the last of it." She smiled walking towards FP and I, she placed the box on the floor before pulling me into a hug.
"Hi to you too." I chuckled. "What's with the box?" I asked as I pulled away.
"It's mine, I'm taking it to Jug's new place." She grinned.
"What?"
"I'm moving out, you're moving in." Jughead spoke up.
"The place isn't big enough for all of us and with Betty always staying over too, Jug asked for his own place." FP clarified.
"Juggie, if I had known I would be pushing you out of your home..."
"You're not, I had been planning this for a while I got the keys today and dad was planning on asking you to move in soon anyway." Jug explained.
"This thing with Alice just made it easier to ask you..." FP added.
"Oh, OK then so, were you living?"
"There." Jughead smiled as he pointed at the trailer right next to FP's.
"Well, we got some unpacking to do and we'll all go to pops for dinner later." Betty informed us as she walked into Jughead's new trailer.
"Let's do it" I smiled as I walked into me new home, a place that always felt like home to me but now, It's my really is my home.

TRIGGER WARNING:
“Waiting impatiently by the front door for my little darling daughter.. we're just going to run up to the convenience store a few blocks away. A smile erupts onto my face as I lean down towards her when she finally walks in the room. With my hands on my hips, I ask, ‘Hana, what has been taking you so long, huh?’ To which she whines softly, ‘I had to go to the bathroom, ok?’ We step out onto the busy sidewalk and I feel a delicate, soft little hand tenderly slide into my own and I warmly close my hand around hers sweetly, giving it a little squeeze. I look down at her, she is smiling that beautiful, dazzling little smile up at me that reminds me so much of her mother, God rest her soul. Even though her mother has passed on, I still consider myself to be the luckiest father in the universe to have such an amazing little girl.. we start our trek walking down the sidewalk..”   - Eue
"Daddy!", I come bounding down the stairs, slightly tripping on the last step. I make up an excuse as I walk toward him, duh, getting pigtails done without help is a real big deal. We finally head out and I take his hand in mine, seeing that distant look in his eye that comes every time he thinks about mom. I don't remember much except those startling blue eyes. "Are monsters actually real? Leah told me she caught one staring at her at the subway!" I tell him as we slowly make our way down the bustling sidewalk.   - Bewitched
“Holding hands and swinging our arms like gentle flesh pendulums, back and forth.. we wind a path from busy street to the next, slowly making our way happily down to the convenience store as if we were walking the streets of heaven itself. I find that listening to my Hana speak of things from her view of the world lighten my own, bringing into it immensely wonderful joy.. a gigantic smile erupts onto my lips, ‘Monsters don't stare at people,’ a growl escapes my lips, ‘they eat people,’ I shout as I tickle her and she giggles loudly with glee. Today is going to be a lovely day indeed, yet another beautiful day with my Hana.. as we arrive at the store, I tell Hana, ‘Here's ten bucks kiddo, get what you want and bring me the change, ok,’ to which I get that award winning smile that melts my heart like the blazing sun aimed at an ice cube on a scorching summer day, and she goes into the store with an angelic humming singing behind her from those sweetly innocent lips that so remind me of her beautiful mother.”   - Eue
I can't stop giggling at his reply, it's absolutely hilarious. I love the mischievous glint in his eye that accompanies the serious voice when he explains stuff to me, it makes me want to hug him. As we make our way to the the store, our hands swing between us, almost involuntarily, an old habit. We finally reach the store after messing around for a bit. He gently thrusts the 10 bucks into my hand, instructing me to bring back the change. I am so happy, i skip forward eagerly, making my way directly to the candies aisle. I stock up on skittles and go looking for m&m's, i finally find it, hidden behind a box of unopened oreos, like how can these people do something like this to something as good as m&m's?! I go to the billing counter and the lady's constipated expression gets to me, making me stifle a loud outburst. Finally she hands me everything, shooting a funny look my way.   - Bewitched
“Standing in the warm summer day outside the store waiting for Hana, I think to myself while kicking a little rock around, that she's beginning to be such an amazing little character, turning out to be somebody very amazingly special just like her mother.. I couldn't imagine a sad life without her beauty in it. What would I be doing with my wretched life if she wasn't in the picture? I smile wryly and think, ‘Half dead in Mexico with a bottle of cheap tequila in one hand and a high priced hooker on my arm probably..’ and that's when it happened..”   - Eue
The wall of the store suddenly explodes into a billion splinters and a million shards of glass and I see my daddy's bloody, limp body being thrown through the debris and he lands at my feet, unmoving. Its like someone punched me in the gut. My gait tumbles as I fall on to my knees. Everything happening around me is indistinct and blurred. It seems too real to call it a dream but I can feel a part of my conscience unable to accept the facts. My insides hurt as the pain felt is almost as real and brutal as the sight before me. My hands seek his and I clasp on to it, tight, holding in me what would be the last traces of his warmth. I pull him into my arms and everything inside me goes numb, I just can't feel anything. His blood stains my shirt and I see my hands shaking furiously as if to grasp on to some non existent truth, just like my heart but the attempts are meaningless as the truth is inevitable. I see teardrops fall on to his limp body from my eyes and suddenly all the emotions rip their way out of me in an unearthly, ear-splitting bellow and I can do nothing but scream.   - Bewitched

The Tides Have Turned-Part 9
A/N: This is my old work, The Tides Have Turned. It is a complete story that I am reposting on this blog so the work isn’t lost and can be found for those interested :)
Tumblr media
Nine
I anxiously stood underneath Nate’s glare. His jaw was twitching, and I knew he wasn’t going to settle for anything less than the truth. I shifted my weight from foot to foot as I debated how I wanted to tell him.
“It’s nothing really. I ran into those guys from the beach, that’s all” I say downplaying the situation.
“Nothing?! Y/n those guys were eyeing you like a piece of meat” Nate said incredulously. I looked around nervously, when Jonah spoke up.
“Yeah, they certainly didn’t look friendly. Not like old friends you randomly run into on the street” he said.
I stared at Jonah praying he would shut up, he was making this worse without realizing it. I understood the altercation, but I really didn’t need Nate flipping shit right now.
“What did they say to you?” Nate said between his teeth. He was terse when he spoke.
“Uh, they just invited me to a party they were having, but I told them no. And then they sort of threatened that I would make it up to them” I say. A muscle in Nate’s neck spasmed as he took in my words.
“They threatened you?” he said more seriously now, inhaling sharply.
“Well not in so many words-”
“When were you going to tell me this?” he pressed.
“Nate, I would have told you eventually. But I didn’t want to ruin the night, and Jonah took care of it so it’s over now.”
“Well, uh, this has been crazy running into you but I should get going. Take care of yourself around here” Jonah said and gave me a small hug. I shot him a weak smile as he walked away. Nate was silent.
“Will you at least speak to me please” I asked. Nate was never like this, I mean he’s stood up for me before as good friends do, but never like this.
“I’m sorry” he said, sounding defeated. This confused me, what does he have to be sorry about?
“For what, Nate?”
“That I wasn’t there to be the one who protected you” he said looking down sadly.
“Nathan, look at me. There wasn’t a need for ‘protection.’ They were aggressive, but they didn’t touch me, there’s no reason to beat yourself up” I reassure.
“Yeah, but Jonah-”
“Wait! Is this about Jonah? Are you jealous??” I question, a little shocked. When I saw him become flustered under my gaze I couldn’t help but smirk. Jealousy.
“Nathan is jealous!” I taunt now, hoping to lift the mood. He whipped his back shocked at my reaction, and quickly backtracked to get out of it.
“No! That’s not it at all. I just wanted you to be safe” he said smugly.
“Whatever you say Romeo” I laugh before making my way over to the group again. Nate followed closely behind.
“Whoo! We’re talking big guns tonight baby!” Sam said drunkenly, with his cup in the air. He was standing on top of a table.
“Sam, nobody even knows what the fuck that means” J said sounded exasperated.
“Sammy, honey, you’ve had enough of that” I say taking the cup from his hand. I grab his other hand to help him back down to the ground. He fell slightly, and leaned all of his weight into me while wrapping his arm around my shoulder. I had to lean into Nate so that I didn’t fall myself.
“I think we should get him home” I said looking at Nate. He nodded in agreement before setting out to find the rest of the crew. Sam still hung on me, his eyes shut and head rolling around. He was talking out of his ass, I don’t think he knows where he is anymore.
“You’re such a girl y/n” he stammers.
“Uh huh” I say not paying him any attention.
“Like THE girl. The best girl there is” Sam rambles on. He’s cute when he’s drunk. Nate walks back towards us with Nash and the others in tow. Nash abstained from drinking tonight so he could drive us home. Nate took Sammy’s other hand around his shoulders and the two of us did the walking for him. We climbed into the back of the bus and I buckled Sam up.
“Thanks beautiful” he grinned sloppily at me. Gilinsky and Johnson were recording him for blackmail purposes later.
“Don’t post that shit online” I say to them. They laughed and swore they wouldn’t. We embarked on the journey back to the Hamptons. Sam was passed out beside me. I reached my hand to where Nate sat beside me and discreetly locked his fingers with mine. I needed to be sure that he was okay after the conversation with Jonah. He held onto my hand tight, and ran his rough fingers over my knuckles.
Back at the house…
“Ok, come on Sammy. Use your legs, come on” I say coaxing Sam out of the car. His legs started dragging on the ground.
“For god’s sake, we’re never letting him drink this much again” I say struggling to lift him up. Nate finally placed him on his feet and we hobbled through the front door. The guys all flopped down on the couch, but I think the night is over for Sammy boy.
“Hey guys I’m gonna put Sam to bed, I think he’s out for the count now” I laugh steering Sam towards the stairs. They all laugh and nod.
“Alright Sam. This is going to be the hardest thing you’ve ever done in your life. Lift one leg at a time” I say sarcastically.
“What is this I’m doing?” he slurs.
“It’s this magical thing called ‘climbing stairs’” I say with false wonder. His beautiful eyes widened at me in mystery, like when you tell a child about Santa for the first time. I couldn’t help but giggle at him. He’s a fucking idiot, but he’s my idiot. It only took him twenty tries to get up the stairs, which was a new record for him. I pushed him down the hallway into his room. I took his shoes off, and placed his Rolex on his bedside table. He face planted the mattress, and would barely move when I tried to get him ready for bed.
“Sam, roll over” I say, losing my patience. He groaned and barely turned. I grabbed his shirt and lifted it over his head. Then I unbuckled his pants and pulled them down and off, leaving him in his boxers. That was as far as I was going to go, I wasn’t going to deal with a drunk AND naked Sam.
“If you wanted to get me naked, you can just ask” he slurred.
“Always the charmer, Samuel. Even while drunk” I laugh. “Lay back” I say pushing him towards the pillow. I swung his legs under the blankets.
“Thanks baby. I loveeeeee you” he dragged out, eyes fluttering open and shut. He was barely holding onto consciousness.
“I love you too Sam” I laugh and stood to leave, but he grabbed my hand.
“I know something you don’t” he teased, in and out of the situation. “Somebody in this house is in love with you” he giggles at the last part, like he let out a closely guarded secret.
“Yeah, okay Sammy. Get some sleep” I say before turning off the light and leaving. I entered my room to change into lounge pants and a tank top before returning downstairs.
Nate’s POV
We were sitting on the couch discussing the events of the night while y/n put Sammy to bed. A few minutes passed before she reappeared on the staircase. She had a serious expression on her face, as if she was deep in thought.
“Everything okay?” I ask.
“Huh? Oh, yeah. Definitely” she smiles. “What do you guys want to do?” she asked. I looked around and everyone shrugged.
“Wait, I have an idea” she said excitedly. She ran over to a storage chest and began rummaging around, before she pulled something out.
“It’s about to get old school!” she squealed pulling out Twister.
“Oh dear God, you remember what happened last time we played!” Johnson whined.
“Oh come on, please J! You love it and you know it!” she begged. He reluctantly agreed.
“Well I don’t see what else there is to do, considering we left the club early because of a certain someone” Kenny said motioning upstairs.
“Alright, I’ll grab some beers and snacks” I say before leaving to go into the kitchen. I gathered everything I thought I would need and walked back into the living room, arms full. Dillon, Swazz, and Gilinsky were pushing the furniture out of the way as y/n flattened out the mat. She then moved over to the stereo system and plugged in her phone. Instantly the sound of 3OH!3’s “Don’t Trust Me” filled the air and we all laughed.
“I told you guys it’s getting old school in here!” she laughed. She would deny it, but the girl was obsessed with them. She began to dance around the room, singing the lyrics from heart.
“Don’t trust a hoe. Never a trust a hoe” she sang and called out Gilinsky by pointing at him.
“Oh, I’m a hoe?!” he said faking that his feelings were hurt.
“Mmm, yeah G you are” she said not giving it any thought.
“Let’s play!” Cam said before Gilinsky got the chance to respond.
“Alright y/n since this was your idea, you move first” Nash said whilst spinning. “Ok, left hand blue.”
Y/n complied shooting us all a cocky smile, she thought she was going to win this.
“Ok, Nash you are right foot red!” Cam said, taking over the spinning duties. A few more turns passed and most of us were a jumbled mess.
“Nate! You’re right hand yellow!” Dillon said straining to reach the spinner. I moved accordingly and ducked underneath y/n’s chest. I looked up and flashed her a bright smile, I wasn’t complaining about my position.
“Shut it Maloley” she said smirking.
“What?! I didn’t even say anything!” I say defensively.
“You didn’t have to” she points out.
“Uh, guys, the more you talk the more we’re gonna collapse” Kenny warned.
“Ok, ugh, y/n move your right foot to green” Dillon yelled out again. She moved her foot and was now bent under Gilinsky.
“Damn, I could get used to this view” he said biting his lip.
“Aye, maybe y/n was right. You are a hoe!” Swazz called out from behind him. This caused us to laugh and I felt us tremble slightly.
“Woah, shit guys, hold steady!” J called out. He was always good at this game considering he wasn’t as tall as we were.
“Hold. Up.” A voice rang out through the house. We could barely lift our heads to see a hungover Sammy standing in front of us.
“You guys started a game of twister without me?!” he accused with a hurt tone.
“Dude you were out cold like an hour ago, how the hell are you alive right now?” J asked from somewhere under the huddle.
“You guys weren’t exactly being quiet down here, so I came down to see what was up because I heard noises. I figured it was either an orgy, or a game of twister” he said.
“Same thing” G smirked.
“So now I see this, and I am hurt you guys. You know that’s my shit, and I want in!” Sam said clutching his chest feigning deep emotion.
“Get on with it Sammy! We can’t hold out much longer!” y/n strained out beneath the mess of tangled bodies. Sam spun the spinner and grinned while moving towards us. He still reeked of booze, but it had worn off some. He was probably still buzzed, but at least he can stand on two feet now.
Sam moved behind y/n, who was standing in a triangular shape, and laid on top of her.
“Much better” Sam grinned.
“Omg Sammy, don’t lay there, I can’t-” y/n began before her legs trembled and we all collapsed with her.
“Good one Sam” Nash said shaking his head. We all just laughed, trying to sit up.
“I think I’m gonna go for a walk on the beach” y/n said standing up. The guys just nodded and flipped on ESPN, not bothered.
“I’ll join you” I smile innocently so as not to draw attention to us. I could see her pupils dilate before she smiled in return. She slid on her flip flops and we exited the sliding back doors. It was quite windy outside, and the night air was cool. The beach was cleared of debris so we removed our shoes and walked in silence for a moment.
“So Sammy told me something intriguing upstairs” y/n began, walking in a slow stride.
“Oh yeah?” I ask, genuinely curious. The boy could say some dumb shit when he was drunk.
“Yeah. He said it’s about one of us in the house” she continued. She was cautious, and I couldn’t really feel out where she was going with this.
“What about them?” I say, more nervous now. My mind was racing. I remember telling Sam how I felt about y/n within the first few days of being here. Fuck. He wouldn’t tell her that would he? Hell he could have told her anything, he was heavily intoxicated. My palms were sweating. This was not how I wanted her to find out.
“He said someone’s in love with me” she stated plainly. She wasn’t gushing about it, nor was she really curious. She had a suspicious aura about her. Now my heart was really racing.
“I think it’s Gilinsky” she said shrewdly. I nearly choked, both out of relief and confusion. My secret was safe for now.
“Why do you think that?” I ask. She was silent for a few moments, deep in thought.
“I don’t know. The way he acts around me? Maybe I’m reading too much into it. You know how big of a flirt he is with women, I’m probably just one of many” she trails off. I was cagey with my words, I had to proceed with the utmost caution.
“Yeah, I do know how he is. Love is a pretty strong emotion, you really think it’s finally caught up to Gilinsky?” I ask with genuine interest now.
“Who knows if it will ever catch up to him. But I do know he was intense when we hooked up” she finished.
I felt like I was slapped in the face. When did they hook up? We’ve been around her the entire vacation. If someone was gonna smash, we would all know about it. Sam told me there was nothing going on between them! Either he lied, or they were sneaking around. A god awful thought crossed my mind. Was she playing me? Our arrangement could be just one of many in her game. All previous worry about my feelings for her washed away. I heaved with jealousy, lust, and anger. What I felt right now was strictly primal. I needed to wash away any trace of Gilinsky. I needed her.
