This was requested by @hotshot624 who I owe the BIGGEST apology because I was inactive and just forgot completely about checking this app.

Sam and Dean were both completely regressed leaving a stresses out angel to care for them. Sam was of all things older than Dean, at around the age of five which made him easier to take care of. Dean was extremely young, but at least Sam was good at getting Dean to calm down.
"I help, Cas!" The little looked at the angel and the angel smiled at the kid. Sam played with Dean and reluctantly watched Scooby Doo even if he wanted to watch Looney toons. At around lunch time it was time to make Dean a bottle and Sam his lunch.
"little moose, what do you want for lunch?" Castiel asked Sam.
"Dino nuggies?" The boy asked politely.
"Sure!" Cas smiled.
"I help Cas with deanys bottle?" Sam asked sweetly.
"sure! Can you do it yourself or do you need help?" The angel asked kindly.
"its easy peasy lemon squeezie!" Sam explained and fixed the bottle. Sam ate his lunch composed of dino nuggets, an apple sauce, and vegetables, and went to his room to read a book about dinosaurs.
"Sammy!" Sam heard Dean call. "I needs my paci!" And Sam ran to get it and managed to get it before Cas. Sam leaned on Castiel as Dean drifted off to sleep in his arms.
"Cas, Dean's sleepin" Sam said.
"wanna help me lay him down?" The care giver asked, already knowing the answer.
Sam ran from the room and got deans crib ready. Cas put him in the crib and picked Sam up and gently placed him in the crib with Dean. As Sam cuddled up to Dean, Cas sung a tune.
"Carry on my wayward son, there will be peace when you are done, lay your weary head to rest don't you cry anymore"

I’m not justifying her actions (because like get a grip, ma’am; you’re playing a friendly) but I do think the comparison in the NZ media’s reaction to Hannah Wilkinson hitting a referee vs Sam Cane kicking a pitch invader is telling.
Most of the articles on Wilkinson are talking about how “ugly” her behaviour was, the ban she’ll likely face, how violent she was.
Most of the articles on Cane minimised his actions. “Oh he was just trying to trip him not kick him.” “Well there were lots of pitch invaders that day; he was frustrated.” “But he said sorry!” (Also why is trying to trip someone considered fine?)

Supernatural (Dean Winchester x Female!Reader)
Tumblr media
Wendigo
First Chapter /Previous Chapter /Next Chapter / Masterlist
It had been a week since Jess' death, the boys and I had stuck around to look for the monster that did this. But we came up with nothing, so we started to make our way to Blackwater Ridge. I followed the boys all the way to that place, we stopped one time at a gas station and I went to check on them when Sam sighs as he looks over the map.
"It's weird, guys." Sam exclaims as Dean was finishing putting gas in his car. "What's weird, Sam?" I asked as I lean against the passenget side window to look at him.
"These coordinates dad left us. This Blackwater Ridge." He replied.
"What about it?" Dean asked once he starts to get inside of the car. "There's nothing there. It's just woods." Sam said then he sets the map there, while he looks around confused.
"Why is he sending us to the middle of nowhere?" He asked us, Dean and I shrug before we loaded up and got back on the road.
Eventually, we parked next to a sign that said RANGER STATION Lost Creek Trail, Lost Creek National Forest. The three of us were inside of the ranger station, Sam and I were looking at a 3D map of the national forest, paying particular attention to the ridge labeled BLACKWATER RIDGE. Dean, on the other hand, was looking at the decorations.
"So Blackwater Ridge is pretty remote. It's cut off by these canyons here, rough terrain, dense forest, abandoned silver and gold mines all over the place." I said as we stare at the map.
"Guys, check out the size of this freaking bear." Dean said. We look over and see a framed photo of a man standing behind a much larger bear. Sam and I come to stand next to Dean.
"And a dozen or more grizzlies in the area." Sam mutters.
"It's no nature hike, that's for sure." I remarked.
"You three aren't planning on going out near Blackwater Ridge by any chance?" A male voice asked, startling us. We turned around to see a male ranger standing behind us, a look of suspicion on his face.
"Oh, no, sir, we're environmental study majors from UC Boulder, just working on a paper." Sam replied then laughs a little while Dean grins and raises a fist.
"Recycle, man." Dean said and I nodded.
"Bull. You're friends with that Haley girl, right?" The ranger asked and I consider this for a moment. "Yes. Yes, we are, Ranger—" I said then I check his nametag and see it said Wilkinson.
"Wilkinson." I finished.
"Well, I will tell you exactly what we told her. Her brother filled out a backcountry permit saying he wouldn't be back from Blackwater until the twenty-fourth, so it's not exactly a missing persons now, is it?" Wilkinson said and the boys and I shake our head. "You tell that girl to quit worrying, I'm sure her brother's just fine." Wilkinson said to us and I give a nod to him.
"We will." I said.
"Yeah that Haley girl's quite a pistol, huh?" Dean asked. "That is putting it mildly." Wilkinson grumbles.
"Actually you know what would help is if I could show her a copy of that backcountry permit. You know, so she could see her brother's return date." Dean said. Wilkinson eyes Dean, who raises his eyebrows at the man.
*****
Dean holds a piece of paper and laughing as we left the station and headed toward the Impala and my bike. "What, are you cruising for a hookup or something?" Sam asked him. "What do you mean?" Dean asked, confused.
"The coordinates point to Blackwater Ridge, so what are we waiting for? Let's just go find Dad. I mean, why even talk to this girl?" Sam asked, annoyed, as we stop on opposite sides of the Impala, I was standing next to Dean while Sam was over on the passenger side.
"I don't know, maybe we should know what we're walking into before we actually walk into it?" Dean asked then there was a pause of silence. "What?" Sam said, confused.
"Since when are you all shoot first ask questions later, anyway?" I asked Sam. Normally, he's never like this. I've been to a few hunts with them before all this and Sam usually is the one that likes to question everything. But now, he's gone all Rambo on us.
"Since now." Sam replied, firmly, then he gets inside of the car. Dean and I exchange looks as Dean said. "Really?" I shrug then head to my bike.
*****
I knocked on the door of a house and we stood there for a moment before it opens, revealing a girl with long brown hair. "You must be Haley Collins. I'm Dean, this is Sam and (y/n), we're, ah, we're rangers with the Park Service. Ranger Wilkinson sent us over. He wanted us to ask a few questions about your brother Tommy." Dean said and Haley hesitates.
"Lemme see some ID." She demanded and Dean pulls out a fake ID and holds it up against the screen. She looks at it, then at Dean, who smiles. Finally, she opens the door. "Come on in." She said to us. "Thanks." Dean said and we head inside.
"That yours?" Haley asked Dean, nodding towards the Impala.
"Yeah." Dean said.
"Nice car." She said then she sees my motorcycle. "Cool motorcycle, who's is that?" She asked. "Mine. And thanks." I said.
Haley turns to lead us into the kitchen, where a younger man is sitting at the table on a laptop. Dean turns his head to mouth something to us, but we roll our eyes at him.
"So if Tommy's not due back for a while, how do you know something's wrong?" Sam asked Haley as she comes back into the room with a bowl she places on the table. "He checks in every day by cell. He emails, photos, stupid little videos—we haven't heard anything in over three days now." She replied.
"Well, maybe he can't get cell reception." I said, shrugging.
"He's got a satellite phone, too." Haley said.
"Could it be he's just having fun and forgot to check in?" Dean asked. "He wouldn't do that." The young man said. Dean eyes the boy before he looks away. Haley puts more food on the table.
"Our parents are gone. It's just my two brothers and me. We all keep pretty close tabs on each other." She said
"Can I see the pictures he sent you?" Sam asked her. "Yeah." She said then she goes and gets a laptop, turns it on and pulls up some pictures.
"That's Tommy." She said as she clicks twice and another picture comes up, then the still frame opens up a video.
"Hey Haley, day six, we're still out near Blackwater Ridge. We're fine, keeping safe, so don't worry, okay? Talk to you tomorrow." Tom said when I saw a shadow flicking past behind Tom. I glanced over at the boys and Sam looks over at me and I could tell he saw the same thing I did.
"Well, we'll find your brother. We're heading out to Blackwater Ridge first thing." Dean said. "Then maybe I'll see you there." She said and we look at her, confused.
"Look, I can't sit around here anymore. So I hired a guy. I'm heading out in the morning, and I'm gonna find Tommy myself." She said.
"I think I know how you feel." Dean said as i keep starting at the video.
"Hey, do you mind forwarding these to me?" I asked Haley. "Sure." She said.
*****
That night, the boys and I were sitting at a bar as we looked over the newspapers and the pictures Haley forwarded us. "So, Blackwater Ridge doesn't get a lot of traffic. Local campers, mostly. But still, this past April, two hikers went missing out there. They were never found." Sam said as he opens John's journal.
"Any before that?" Dean asked and I pull out newspaper articles to show him. "Yeah, in 1982, eight different people all vanished in the same year. Authorities said it was a grizzly attack." I said as I show him The Lost Creek Gazette.
GRIZZLY BEAR ATTACKS!
UP TO EIGHT HIKERS VANISH IN LOST CREEK AREA
HIKERS DISAPPEARANCE BAFFLE AUTHORITIES'
Then Sam pulls out his laptop. "And again in 1959 and again before that in 1936." He said as opens the laptop, which already has a window open to Tom's video. "Every twenty-three years, just like clockwork. Okay. Watch this. Here's a clincher. I downloaded that guy Tommy's video to the laptop. Check this out." I said as Sam pulls up the video and goes through three frames of the video one at a time.
A shadow crosses the screen.
"Do it again." Dean said and Sam repeats the frames. "That's three frames. That's a fraction of a second. Whatever that thing is, it can move." I explained and Dean hits Sam, making him look up.
"Told you guys something weird was going on." Dean said. "Yeah." Sam mutters as he closes the laptop.
"We got one more thing." Sam said and he hands over another newspaper article. "In 'fifty-nine one camper survived this supposed grizzly attack. Just a kid. Barely crawled out of the woods alive." I said to Dean as he looks at the Gazette.
"Is there a name?" He asked and I nodded.
*****
"Look, ranger, I don't know why you're asking me about this. It's public record. I was a kid. My parents got mauled by a—" Mr Shaw said to us as we stood inside his house. "Grizzly? That's what attacked them?" Sam asked while Shaw takes a puff of his cigarette, takes it out, and nods.
"The other people that went missing that year, those bear attacks too?" I asked but Shaw stays silent. "What about all the people that went missing this year? Same thing?" Dean asked, but again he says nothing.
"We knew what we were dealing with, we might be able to stop it." Dean said to Shaw. "I seriously doubt that. Anyways, I don't see what difference it would make." Shaw said as he sits down.
"You wouldn't believe me. Nobody ever did." Shaw said, sadly, then Sam sits down across from Shaw. "Mr. Shaw, what did you see?" Sam asked him.
"Nothing. It moved too fast to see. It hid too well. I heard it, though. A roar. Like...no man or animal I ever heard." He replied after he pauses for a few seconds.
"It came at night?" I asked him and he nods. "Got inside your tent?"
"It got inside our cabin. I was sleeping in front of the fireplace when it came in. It didn't smash a window or break the door. It unlocked it." Shaw replied then he looks at us, the horrors of that night filled his eyes.
"Do you know of a bear that could do something like that? I didn't even wake up till I heard my parents screaming." He said.
"It killed them?" Sam asked.
"Dragged them off into the night." Shaw replied then he shakes his head.
"Why it left me alive...been asking myself that ever since." Shaw replied as he takes a breath then hishands goes to his collar. "Did leave me this, though." He said and he opens his collar to reveal three long scars, claw marks. The boys and I look at this in shock. "There's something evil in those woods. It was some sort of a demon." Shaw said to us.
****
Later, the boys and I walk the length of the motel corridor with rooms on either side. "Spirits and demons don't have to unlock doors. If they want inside, they just go through the walls." Dean said to us. "So it's probably something else, something corporeal." Sam said and Dean looks at him.
"Corporeal? Excuse me, professor." Dean grumbles, sarcastically. "Shut up." Sam mumbles.
"So what do you think?" I asked Dean. "The claws, the speed that it moves...could be a skinwalker, maybe a black dog. Whatever we're talking about, we're talking about a creature, and it's corporeal. Which means we can kill it." Dean said.
Dean opens the trunk of the Impala, then the weapons box, and props it open with a shotgun. He puts some guns in a duffel bag. "We cannot let that Haley girl go out there." Sam said to Dean. "Oh yeah? What are we gonna tell her? That she can't go into the woods because of a big scary monster?" I asked him.
"Yeah." Sam replied.
"Her brother's missing, Sam. She's not gonna just sit this out. Now we go with her, we protect her, and we keep our eyes peeled for our fuzzy predator friend." Dean said as he picks up the duffel.
"Finding Dad's not enough?" Sam asked, angrily, as he slams the weapons box shut, then the trunk. "Now we gotta babysit too?" He asked and Dean and I look at him.
"What?" Sam asked us.
"Nothing." Dean and I said as Dean throws the duffel bag at Sam and walks off. Sam stares after him then looks over at me, I shrug then walked away.
*****
The next day, we pull up to the forest where we see Haley, her brother Ben, and another guy. Sam and Dean get out of the car while I get off my bike. Sam opens the back door of the Impala and pulls out two duffel bags then hands one of them to me. "You guys got room for three more?" Dean asked them. "Wait, you want to come with us?" Haley asked us.
"Who are these guys?" The guy asked her. "Apparently this is all the park service could muster up for the search and rescue." Haley replied as Sam heads past everyone.
"You're rangers?" The guy asked us.
"That's right." I said to him.
"And you're hiking out in biker boots and jeans?" Haley asked us and Dean looks down at himself. "Well, sweetheart, I don't do shorts." Dean said to her.
"And trust me, that is a sight you don't want to see." I teased and Dean looks over me.
"How would you know? You've been thinking about me in shorts?" He asked, a flirtatious look on his face, and I let out a laugh. "Yeah, you wish." I said as we walk past Haley.
"What, you guys think this is funny? It's dangerous back country out there. Her brother might be hurt." The unknown man said to us.
"Believe me, we know how dangerous it can be. We just wanna help them find their brother, that's all." I said and we head into the woods.
*****
We hike through the forest, the man now we known named Roy was in the lead, the rest of us were bringing up the rear. "Roy, you said you did a little hunting." Dean said to him. "Yeah, more than a little." Roy replied. "Uh-huh. What kind of furry critters do you hunt?" Dean asked him.
"Mostly buck, sometimes bear." Roy replied as Dean passes Roy.
"Tell me, uh, Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?" Dean asked him, sarcastically, then Roy grabs Dean. Sam and I look on, waiting to see if we needed to intervene. "Whatcha doing, Roy?" Dean asked.
Roy grabs a stick and pokes the bear trap Dea  had almost stepped in. "You should watch where you're stepping. Ranger." Rot sneered then he drops the stick and retakes the lead.
"It's a bear trap." Dean said as he looks over at the rest of us and I shake my head and rolled my eyes. Then we hiked on when Haley catches up to Dean. "You didn't pack any provisions. You guys are carrying a duffelbag. You're not rangers." She accuses then she grabs Dean's arm.
"So who the hell are you?" She asked him as Ben walks past them then Sam and I look at him as we come up to them.
Dean indicates us with an expression that tells us to go on by and we obey as we walk on
*3rd Person POV*
Dean watches his brother and his best friend walk off before he looks back at Haley. "Sam and I are brothers, and we're looking for our father. He might be here, we don't know. I just figured that you and me, we're in the same boat." Dean said to her.
"And what about her?" Haley asked, nodding towards (y/n). Dean looks over at (y/n) and felt his heart beating a little faster before he looks back at Haley. "She's a long time friend of ours that's helping us." Dean replied.
"Why didn't you just tell me that from the start?" Haley asked him. "I'm telling you now. This is probably the most honest I've ever been with a woman...besides (y/n). So we okay?" Dean asked her and she stares at him.
"Yeah, okay." She said, nodding.
"And what do you mean I didn't pack provisions?" He asked then he pulls out a big bag of peanut M&Ms and sticks his hand in the bag as he hikes on. Haley waits a moment, then follows him.
*(y/n)'s POV*
"This is it. Blackwater Ridge." Roy said as he leads us to another section of the woods. "What coordinates are we at?" Sam asked him as he and I walk up to him. Roy pulls out a GPS, which reads N 35° 45.383, W 111°00.55.
"Thirty-five and minus one-eleven." Roy replied as Dean comes up to us
"You hear that?" Dean asked us and we listened to the silence.
"Yeah. Not even crickets." Sam remarked.
"I'm gonna go take a look around." Roy said and he started to walk ahead. "You shouldn't go off by yourself." I said to him and he turns to me. "That's sweet. Don't worry about me." He said then he waves his gun and retakes the lead.
I turn back to the others as Ben and Haley catch up. "All right, everybody stays together. Let's go." I said and we walk on until Roy shouts. "Haley! Over here!"
Haley runs towards Roy's voice, followed by us, until we come to a halt.
"Oh my God." She whispered as we see tents all torn open and bloody and all the supplies were scattered. "Looks like a grizzly." Roy remarked as Dean, Haley and I look around.
"Tommy?" Haley shouts as she takes off her backpack and goes through the campsite. "Tommy!"
Sam moves to catch up with Haley and tries to shush her but she continues to yell out for her brother. "Shh-hh-hh!" Sam shushed her.
"Why?" She asked, angrily.
"Something might still be out there." Sam replied.
"(Y/n)! Sam!" Dean shouts. Then we go over to Dean, snapping a stick, and crouch next to him. "The bodies were dragged from the campsite. But here, the tracks just vanish. That's weird." Dean said as the three of us stand up.
"I'll tell you what, that's no skinwalker or black dog." I said to the boys. Dean then goes back to the campsite and Sam and I follow. Haley picks up a bloody cell phone and she begind to cry. She turns the phone over and the back is open. Dean crouches next to her.
"Hey, he could still be alive." Dean assures her and she gives him a look.
"Help! Help!" A voice shouted, making us all jump. Roy then leads the way as we run to the aid of the shouter. "Help! Somebody!" The voice screamed but so far we didn't find anybody.
"It seemed like it was coming from around here, didn't it?" Haley asked as we stopped and listened, but whoever was screaming...they stopped.
"Everybody back to camp." Sam said and we start to make our way back.
****
Back at the campsite, all of our supplies were missing. "Our packs!" Haley shouts. "So much for my GPS and my satellite phone." Roy grumbles.
"What the hell is going on?" Haley asked. "It's smart. It wants to cut us off so we can't call for help." I pointed out.
"You mean someone, some nutjob out there just stole all our gear." Roy said and I start to add everything together before I turn to Sam and Dean.
"I need to speak with you guys. In private." I said and we head a little ways away from the group. "Let me see John's journal." I said and Dean hands it over. I flip it open then flip through until I find a particular page.
"All right, check that out." I said as I points to a drawing of a figure.
"Oh come on, wendigos are in the Minnesota woods or northern Michigan. I've never even heard of one this far west." Dean said, exasperated. "She's right, Dean. Think about it, the claws, the way it can mimic a human voice." Sam said and I point and nod at him.
"Great." Dean grumbles, annoyed, then takes out his pistol.
"Well then this is useless." He said as I give him back the journal. "We gotta get these people to safety." I said to the boys and Sam nods.

Back at the campsite, Sam addresses the group. "All right, listen up, it's time to go. Things have gotten...more complicated." He said to them. "What?" Haley asked. "Kid, don't worry. Whatever's out there, I think I can handle it." Roy said, cocky, and I roll my eyes at this.
"It's not him we're worried about. If you shoot this thing, you're just gonna make it mad. We have to leave. Now." I said to Roy
"One, you're talking nonsense. Two, you're in no position to give anybody orders." Roy said as he starts to walk right up to me but Dean goes to stand between us.
"Relax." Dean said to him, firmly, while Sam comes up next to me. "We never should have let you come out here in the first place, all right? We're trying to protect you." Sam said then Roy steps right into Sam's space.
"You protect me? I was hunting these woods when your mommy was still kissing you good night." Roy sneers while Sam glares at Roy. "Yeah? It's a damn near perfect hunter. It's smarter than you, and it's gonna hunt you down and eat you alive unless we get your stupid sorry ass out of here." Sam said and Roy laughs.
"You know you're crazy, right?" Roy said. "Yeah? You ever hunt a wen—" Sam started to say when Roy started to attack Sam.
"Roy!" Haley shouts as Dean and I stop the fight and I push Sam away while Dean pushes Roy away.
"Chill out." Dean said.
"Stop. Stop it. Everybody just stop. Look. Tommy might still be alive. And I'm not leaving here without him." Haley yells and we look around at her.
"It's getting late. This thing is a good hunter in the day, but an unbelievable hunter at night. We'll never beat it, not in the dark. We need to settle in and protect ourselves." I said, calmly.
"How?" Haley asked and I smirked.
****
Night had fallen and we had built a campfire. Dean and I were drawing some symbols in the dirt around the campsite while Haley pokes at the fire. "One more time, that's—" Haley started to ask but Dean answers her. "Anasazi symbols. It's for protection. The wendigo can't cross over them." He replied. Roy laughs, a gun over his shoulder.
"Nobody likes a skeptic, Roy." I said and Dean looks over at Sam, who was sitting at the edge of the campsite.
I sighed and looked over at Dean. He stares at me and I nod, encouragingly, then he looks down then goes over to Sam and talks to him. "Sooo...you guys are friends?" Haley asked me once I finished making the symbols.
"Yeah, ever since we were kids." I said as I look over at her.
"And there is nothing going on between you and those two?" She asked and I looked over at her in disbelief. "No, there's nothing going on." I said, firmly.
"And you guys hunt monsters like these...wendigos?" Haley asked me. But before I can answer, Rot speaks up. "Don't fall for this crap, Haley." Roy growled. Haley rolls her eyes as I let out a sigh.
"To answer your question, yes." I replied. She nods and was about to say something else when a twig snaps.
"Help me! Please!" A voice screams and I pull out my pistol while Dean stands and readies his gun. "Help!" The voice screams while Sam shines his flashlight around. "He's trying to draw us out. Just stay cool, stay put." Dean said as he and Sam come back over to us.
"Inside the magic circle?" Roy asked, skeptically. "Help! Help me!" The voice shouts again then something begins to growl. Roy points his gun at the sound.
"Okay, that's no grizzly." Roy said while Haley goes to Ben. "It's okay. You'll be all right, I promise." She said to her brother when something rushes past. Haley shrieks.
"It's here." Sam said and Roy begins to shoot at the rustling, then again. "I hit it!" He shouts and he goes to see what he hit.
"Roy, no! Roy!" I shouted as I chase after Roy.
*3rd Person POV*
"(y/n)!" Dean shouts, fearfully, then he turns to Haley and Ben. "Don't move." He orders then Haley picks up a stick and holds it, burning it at one end, as a weapon. Dean and Sam run after Roy and (y/n). Dean's heart was pounding in his chest when he couldn't see her at all but he was able to hear the footsteps.
"It's over here! It's in the tree!" Roy shouts while (y/n) said. "Roy! Don't!"
But she stops running when the wendigo reaches down from the tree and snaps Roy's neck.
"Roy!" (Y/n) shouts as the boys make their way to her and Dean grabs her arm as Sam pans his flashlight around the forest before they head back to the campsite.

Note
I've been scrolling through your posts, and I just wanted to say;
You clearly know nothing about DID or any other mental illness for that matter. You do not know how systems work, I am assuming you are not a licensed psychologist. You have absolutely ZERO authority to be giving people advice on systems (etc...) .
You never supply anyone with actual information from secure and OFFICIAL organizations. Where are all of your opinions coming from? Where are the facts? Where has a doctor supported any of this?
Your actions have consequences, spreading misinformation about these things is ridiculously dangerous. Do you know how risky it is to tell someone not to see a doctor if they are hearing voices?
You don't affirm a schizos (or anyone's for that matter) delusions, that is just harmful as telling someone who is suicidal to kill themself.
I can't believe this blog is serious. I can't even take you seriously, actually. This is such a shitshow.
Another thing, Transracial, Transautism (etc...) Do not exist. Stop fetishing and obsessing over something you were not born to be.
This behavior is inappropriate and makes plenty of poc and disabled people uncomfortable.
I really hope most of you are teens figuring yourself out, you need to get your shit together. One day, you are going to get a wakeup call from someone who isn't as nice. And it's going to suck.
Please stop this disgusting behavior. I am honestly repulsed. I can only imagine what your parents think. This is fucking insane. You are insane.
Best of wishes xxx
I have never told anyone not to see a doctor if they feel like they need to. But I do reject the sanist belief that voice hearing is inherently pathological. What we do, tulpamancy, induces voice hearing in a non-pathological and beneficial way. This is the opinion of Dr Michael Lifshitz, a professor in psychiatry at McGill University with a PhD in neuroscience:
“If something doesn’t hurt, then it’s not pathological,” Lifshitz tells me on the phone. “Think about rumination. Maybe I think a lot, but it’s not depressive unless it’s making me depressed. Being disassociated — having the feeling of multiple agents living inside of you — in and of itself is not fundamentally pathological.”
“The thing that’s clear is that tulpamancy helps people,” Lifshitz continues. “Tulpamancy allows folks to feel more relaxed and better able to socialize. In fact, we’re interested in how we could use it for developing better treatments for those who do have DID or psychosis. Perhaps we can teach [patients] how to engage with voices or personalities in a way that might be useful [or] therapeutic.”
Similar viewpoints, that hearing voices isn't pathological, have been supported by many others such as Dr. Marius Romme, who founded the Hearing Voices Network. There was also a major interdisciplinary project called Hearing The Voice that explored pathological and non-pathological voice hearing alike. In fact, voice hearing is considered by a normal religious experience in many religions.
There actually aren't many informed researchers today who would say that all voice hearing is inherently mental illness. I have yet to see a single academic paper making any such argument.
My opinion that many intelligent voices in psychotic disorders are dissociative agents in the same way that alters are is largely based on this article from Dolores Mosquera, director of the Institute for the Study of Trauma.
Tumblr media
And I want to draw extra attention to the last line, that strategies involving ignoring or getting rid of these voices can be harmful.
If there is a type of "delusion" I've affirmed, that's only the so-called "thought insertion delusion." (Though just so we're clear, affirming a delusion is nothing like telling someone to kill themselves.) This is because I take up the view of Dr. Matthew Ratcliffe (a professor at the University of York) and Dr. Sam Wilkinson, that thought insertion is likely the same type of phenomenon as auditory/verbal hallucinations.
In conjunction with the theory from Mosquera and Ross that certain intelligent voices heard in psychotic disorders are dissociated agents, I think it's reasonable to apply the same standard to thought insertion if these separate thoughts are personified and seemingly intelligent.
Would you like more sources or are you satisfied?
And I'm well aware that my actions have consequences. I hope that those consequences will be helping more existing plurals be able to accept their plurality.
I also hope that by introducing tulpamancy guides to more people, we can increase the number of plurals in the world and help normalize plurality little by little.
Finally, I'd like to ask that you consider revising your language. In addition to the obvious ableism of calling people insane, I don't think people with Schizophrenia and related disorders appreciate being called "schizos."
