Balmoral looked upon the impressive structure that once considered him apart of its ranks. However with the shut gates and any opening barricaded, it was far from welcoming and once the veil of darkness gave way, it would be anything but peaceable.
The floating aspect of the palace did cause trouble but seeing as he was present, essentially at the front door, it wasn't impossible. Although he knew that the king intended to make his last stand within the fortress he was so proud of. And that was fine with the fae. All this did was mark where the king would topple. All this did was delay the inevitable.
The dull clank of armor signaled him of his troops settling behind him. There was a draft that served as the chatter to fill the quiet awe that came about viewing the castle from its ground level. As well as the moment to realize that this was it. This is where it culminated.
His blade was placed in the ground, slotted between the the stone layout as he waited for most to have gathered. He didn't like to repeat himself. Mhorbheinn on his right to cover his 'blind spot' and his other commanders nearby were poised. Without tearing his gaze, he searched for the slits where arrows should be poised. Likely to go off once the visual became clear.
A distant bell tolled, signaling that would likely come soon. So this was the last calm before the storm to speak. But he had been ready for its strike and only needed to reinforce the main goal of this force. Any other roles...already knew what they were to do.
Without turning, he ordered, "Rout them all. From the lowest confines to the highest spire, all within the palace have been declared an enemy. There will be no quarter."
Be it their first time in the main conflict or some sentimentality, there was a soul that said, "No quarter? That wasn't agreed on. Not all within are hostiles. The--"
The sentiment was interrupted by a cry of anguish. The speaker bled from the elbow where an arm was. Before there could be a bellow, another solider stifled their cry. They knew that if anyone ruined this element, their companion's chance of survival plummeted to nonexistent. And not from the battle yet to be fought.
Now kneeling and writhing respectively, the steely gaze of the general loomed like a predator. Balmoral's blade gleamed with mercurial blood, "See what quarter you will be granted with that."
He gave a sweep of his sword, the silver splattering on the stone pathway. Directed both to the soldier that intervened and towards the blade he could see being unsheathed on his side, he said, "Consider that my clemency."
A bowed head was given as the unintended wounded was pulled away. Balmoral did not see where they disappeared, instead resuming his mental timing of the fall of the veil. He could see darkness fall away to reveal the false skies of their domain. Their facsimile of a moon started to illuminate the citadel.
Without raising his tone, he demanded, "Are my orders understood?"
""Yes, sir!"" was chorused as the moonlight spilled towards the spires, spreading to the courtyard and of course the outskirts. The grand battle was upon them. And come the next dawn the Unseelie would be changed.
Balmoral was done with waiting, it was time for him to helm this kingdom himself.

I haven’t read the weekend yet, but I’m definitely excited to read it. I saw one of you post and I agreed I feel like fanfics are phasing out here on tumblr because of the boys are enlisting. Like there were so many good writers that are no longer on here anymore. So many stories disappeared along with them that I would love to read again. You guys made this place fun and it’s a comfort zone. I’m scared and sad that once all the boys are gone, you guys would leave this place too. I just want to let you know that you guys are so talented, down to earth, easy to talk to, and make this place a comfort zone for us. I know this isn’t their page but thank you to @mercurygguk @kpopfanfictrash and of course you @chryblossomjjk
omg hi friend! i totally get what you mean! there’s such a sense of community on here that when people leave it genuinely feels like you’ve lost a friend! even if it’s someone you don’t interact with much like you just get used to their presence and when they’re not here it just feels… weird and sad.
and thank you so much! you guys have made this place so fun and enjoyable for me aswell. i adore this community fr!

Do you guys think Matt and Trey know about the edits people make of them on TikTok? Like, do you think they're aware that teenagers call them Daddy unironically? Because I wish I wasn't burdened with that knowledge.
