yeaah it is, definitely! they take at least weeks longer to finish even when I basically draw every day.
98% of it is due to me having slow hands + limited free time + always wanting to sleep on the teeny progress made so I could check for errors with fresh eyes 😂
I know the reels and comics look easier, less coloring and detail and all but I take longest with lineart (like 65% of the whole process), so having more cuts/frames in general would take that much more time
Which I guess is why I am taking FOREVER rn trying my hand yet again at comics....20 panels I think? yeesh save me 😇 Not to mention I still haven't found out how to make this fit the 90 sec limit for reels....bleh
In which Damian is a Vampire/Human hybrid which is already taboo, to top it off he is a mix between mortal enemies. The Al Ghul pureblood Vampires and the Wayne’s, the best Vampire Hunters in the land.
Raven is a demon sorceress who killed her father and absorbed his power, using it for good by protecting the lands from mystical threats. She has a whole castle where she trains and oversees mages from all walks of life.
Damian is on the run because he’s being hunted by both Vampires and Hunters. He left his father’s side because he didn’t want to put him in harm’s way. He was disowned by the Al Ghul’s after his true lineage was revealed.
He snuck into Raven’s castle in hopes of finding out a way to magically mask his identity. Vampires can smell his impurity, Hunters just have talismans or objects who warn them of a near by Vampire. He is captured however, unaware of the strength of the warding spell that protects the fortress.
He begs Raven to teach him, he wishes not to hurt anyone. He wants to be invisible to everyone. He’s desperate. At first, Raven is extremely untrusting and skeptical towards him. The mages and Vampires have always been a bit wary of each other.
After he earns her trust (and duh they fall in love) she declares Sanctuary for him within the Castle. She unfortunately does not have a fool proof spell to help him go undetected completely be either side.
I love your drawings so much and thanks for sharing them 😍
One question- the Lemony Snicket post doesn’t seem to work/load at all. Do I need an Imgur account to see it, or just try again with a new device?
Oh I always set the post duration on those image hosting sites to what uh....1-6 months (I get embarassed easily lmao and plus, idk, safety??) So you probably won't be able to see them either way....😅😅 sorry bout that!! I promise I'll get over posting 'em someday and work on some more spicy stuff in the meantime.
Out of Curiosity. What do you think Raven’s core traits are as a person? Do you dislike a particular comic version of her? If there was one thing about Raven you never wanted to see again, what would it be?
Ooo... this is a good one.
I think her core-traits are her kindness and love for those around her, no matter what that love will look like. Whether it's physical, or emotional, or something else. She wants to have a real family, and have that support structure that she desperately craves. Her empathic powers force her to keep herself at a distance, but I also think that they allow her to truly feel what other people are feeling and that can be such a good bridge to building understanding and companionship.
I don't know if there's a version of her I dislike. There are versions I don't agree with and I think Scott Lobdell is a fuckwit who shouldn't be allowed to touch any characters ever, but I think there are aspects of each version and iteration of Raven that can be really good to build on her character. I like to see her as both perfect and flawed, and there are bits and pieces from every series and run that add to that.
One thing I wish I could never see again is the brooding, anti-social, creepy goth-girl vibe. Like, anti-social because she's trying to protect people from her powers is one thing, but full goth because... reasons? I can't do that. The girl is multi-faceted, let her have that. I also wish that Raven could explore romantic relationships with other people. There was SO MUCH HOPE for StarRae in Teen Titans Earth One, and like... it never happened. We WERE THERE. WE WERE RIGHT. THERE. And you know how I feel about certain ships within Teen Titans, so... I just wish we could have a bit more variety. But, that's also the multishipper in me talking, and some people don't like that.
Ultimately I love Raven, and I will probably devour any media with her in it. I love that she can be complicated, and fun, and funny, and kind, and evil, and dark, and flawed. I love that there is so much you can make with her, and it's why she's my favorite.
