“so we’re done then?”
“yeah.. uhm, we’re done..” sunghoon confirmed. “i’m sorry it had to be this way.”
“it’s okay, hoon.. we’ve both got different things going on right now. we should focus on ourselves.” y/n said with a shaky voice, hands begging to be in his warm hold again. her face lit up with a soft and reassuring smile, in hopes that he wouldn’t see through her.
he did though.
after knowing the one who he thought was her soulmate, he could read her body language and understand what she felt through observation.
“you know, i wished we never had to go through this…” hoon’s breath hitched as he swallowed back another sob. his eyes teared up at the thought of them not together again. face pale as he glanced up to see her smile gently fading away with his words.
she bit her lip and sniffled — “yeah i know.. i wish we never did either. maybe in another universe?”
the word ‘universe’ simply tore the two apart. how could they have been a match made, and yet not make it through this fallout? their eyes locked with each others, lingering to stay as their relationship began to crumble upon the quiet goodbyes in the unspoken atmosphere.
“yeah, another universe.” sunghoon affirmed, taking in a harsh gulp at the aching feel of coming to terms with harsh reality.
“goodbye, sunghoon..,” y/n softly uttered as she held onto his face for a last look. “you’ll always hold a special place.”
hoon felt the threatening tears fall down his cheeks, heart stopping at the words he thought he’d never hear. “you always will too..,” — was all he could respond back with as the chest pain worsened.
with the last few words said to each other, y/n felt the urge to leave; everything in her screaming to get out before she’d sob in his arms and never want to let go.
her heart ached to be near him, just to be in the embracing comfort of her one and only.., just one last time before she could have closure.
she didn’t though.
her body frame was out of the door as soon as she slipped through his fingers. every part in her body begged to go back but no, she couldn’t. they would’ve been in worst conditions if they had stayed together.

months had passed since the couple broke up. long and tiring months.
many attempts to get over the other had become a daily routine. little habits were made, yet no progression had occurred.
sunghoon and y/n still loved each other. of course they did, they just kept a long distance — only hearing about one another through their friends who were dating each other.
“so have you heard from ji-woo about y/n?” hoon hesitantly asked his friend, jake.
in return, he received an eye roll and a head shake. “it’s always y/n this and y/n that. when are you gonna get over her?” the aussie boy said, slightly chuckling as he patted hoon’s shoulders.
“i just.. miss her.” he sheepishly admitted with blushing ears.
“we know, sunghoon. that’s why i’m setting you up on a date with someone tomorrow,” their other friend — jay chimed in with a beaming smile.
sunghoon’s body tensed at his words. “date? uhm i don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“oh come on hoon! you need to go out and have fun, you can’t always be stuck up on y/n. she’s probably moved on quicker than you have.” jay said with a playful scoff.
the younger sent a scowling look at him. jake laughed at the two — “maybe the date will help, hoon?”
sunghoon kept his eyes down before giving in and agreeing to the date.
jake smiled before quickly shoving his hands into his pants, bringing out his phone and texting someone without hoon knowing.

somewhere along the ways, a loud gasp was heard from y/n’s apartment.
“NO WAY!” y/n heard her friend, ji-woo scream.
“WHAT?” y/n and her other two friends, min-su and dae yelled out together.
“uhm! nothing…,” the girl responded back with a coy smile.
the rest looked at her with wandering eyes before going back to their conversation.
“WAIT! i have to pee, i’ll be back!” y/n yelled, quickly rushing to the bathroom to do her business.
“this girl always needs to go,” min-su snorted with a slight judging voice.
“SHUT UP!” the girl in the bathroom muffled out.
everybody giggled in silence before ji-woo grabbed their attention — “GUYS! look at jake’s text!” she shoved her phone in front of their faces, quickly earning gasps from them.
“he’s going on a date already??” dae questioned in loud thoughts.
“SH! she might hear you!” ji-woo yelled out in return. “you think we should tell her though?”
min-su furiously shook her head. “no! i wouldn’t want to know if heeseung was going out with some other girl.”
the boy slightly gasped — “me too honestly…, i’d be mad if i heard jungwon was moving on.”
jake’s partner nodded her head in agreement. “that’s true, me too with jake but.. she has a right to know though doesn’t she?”
the group exchanged worried glances before hearing the bathroom door unlocked to y/n coming out with a half smile.
“were you guys talking shit or something? why is it so quiet?” she said with an eyebrow raise.
the three friends awkwardly laughed, sharing quiet side eyes before ji-woo broke the silence — “why would we talk shit?”
min-su nodded her head before adding on, “yeah plus we can’t even talk shit with you so close to the bathroom.”
y/n mouth opened in shock before hearing the cackled out laughs and gasps from dae and ji-woo. “fuck you guys too then!” she jokingly replied, rolling her eyes.
“what no! we’d never talk shit about you y/n!” dae defended while still giggling from min-su’s words.
“mhm okay, whatever,” she bitterly said.
the gang continued their giggles for a little longer. “okay guys! that’s enough, let’s watch a movie!” ji-woo announced, hands taking hold of the remote to change the topic.

a few days went by after their hangout, and y/n had to go in on her last day of work. she deeply sighed before heading in with her uniform on.
she was there for almost a year at this ice cream place, and she was suddenly being let go of the same time she was still going through a breakup — could it get any worse?
“this is going to be a long day,” the girl softly uttered.
and indeed it was.
as hours passed within her time schedule, y/n felt time go by more slower than usual. when the clock hinted that she was nearing the end of her last shift, she sighed in relief.
cleaning the countertops with all of her energy she had left, the door dinged — signifying that someone had arrived in.
y/n’s eyes glanced up in a swift to greet the customer. but once she did, she felt like her world had come to a stop.
everything froze in place after seeing her ex, sunghoon with some girl wrapping her arms around his.
her heart instantly shattered within seconds of meeting eyes with him. she swallowed down a harsh cry in her throat before shakily saying, “hello, how can i help you today?”
hoon’s eyes softly stayed on her lingering gaze. he knew what he was doing. he knew she worked there.
he just knew.
he looked away in hesitation, pressing his lips into a firm line before turning away to the menu.
“i’ll give you guys a few seconds,” y/n mumbled to the two — watching the pretty girl smile in return and turning to the boy she was on a date with.
she made her way to the back, tears instantly filling her eyes as soon as she was out of their sight.
“fuck,” the heart shattered girl quietly mumbled to herself. closing her eyes, she sighed to herself before realizing her coworker was still in the back.
“you okay, y/n?” she heard her coworker say.
“yeah i’m fine, im just giving them some time to decide.”
after a few minutes, y/n went out to check on them.
“you guys ready to order yet?” she tried to beam with her customer voice.
sunghoon’s eyes quickly went to her and softened. his eyes could say so much that he couldn’t dare to speak of. they were a clear indication that he still loved her.
y/n wanted to linger in his presence, just yearn in the feel that he was finally near her again.
but she didn’t.
she broke eye contact to look at the girl who was ready to order.
‘she’s pretty,’ she thought to herself with a gentle smile. ‘real pretty..,’
“can i get the number four in a regular, please?” she heard the gorgeous girl say.
her chest weirdly tightened at her voice before nodding her head — “of course, what else can i get for you guys?” her eyes trailed up to the boy she used to love with a heavy heart.
“can i get the number twenty one in a regular too?” sunghoon spoke in a soft tone.
there was that weird chest pain in her heart again after hearing his voice. it’d been so long since she heard him say anything, and hearing how he had ordered the exact same ice cream flavor she’d get him after work made her want to breakdown and cry.
it was a coffee flavor, and she always remembered how much he loved coffee flavored things.
y/n softly bit her lips, holding back a smile that wanted to be shown before exhaling a heavy sigh without letting him know.
“okay, will that be all for tonight?” she mumbled, praying for her pained eyes to not be obvious to him as she looked him straight in the eye.
the girl he was on a date with shook her head before looking at hoon. “no that’ll be all, thank you!”
y/n nodded her head before allowing the payment to show on their side. “okay, whenever you’re ready.”
“i’ll get it,” sunghoon uttered out to his date.
just those words had the poor girl behind the counter shaking.
he was paying. he always did.
she remembered that about him because he always offered when they were together.
“really??” the girl gasped. “you’re such a gentleman! jay was so right about you!”
in an instant second, hoon met eyes with y/n. a hint of betrayal and disbelief was displayed in the girl’s facial features before softly rolling her eyes and turning back to the screen.
‘so jay set him up…,’ she said in her own head.
“would you like your receipt?” she mumbled, trying not to sound too bitter in her tone.
if they were still together, he would’ve had a playful grin on his face with how jealous she sounded.
but they weren’t.
so sunghoon only awkwardly nodded before replying — “yes please.”
she printed out the receipt and reached her hands out. his hand reached out for it as well, but the placing was miscalculated and his hand held onto hers by accident.
her eyes blinked twice at the sudden touch of his fingers on hers. he kept his gaze on her reaction but she didn’t bother to look up at him. their hearts were pounding like crazy.
if anything, they were practically beating at the same time. it was like they were working together in harmony again.
however, when y/n let her eyes go to the clueless girl beside him, she immediately retracted her hands with a fake smile.
“here’s your receipt, we’ll get that out for you.” she turned away before she could hear their ‘thank yous’ and left near where her coworker was.
“i’ll do the coffee one,” y/n mumbled to her, adding in different toppings left and right.
as she worked on the ice cream, she heard the girl sunghoon was on a date with yell — “it’s so cool how they do that! isn’t it cool, hoonie?”
y/n’s hands froze. the chopping sounds from her ice cream scoopers no longer being heard as she tried not to show how hurt she was.
“you okay?” the coworker softly uttered to her.
“hm? oh yeah, just a muscle cramp.” she awkwardly replied, laughing it off with a hand shake before returning back to the frozen ice cream.
“oh, sorry, i’m only comfortable with hearing my close friends and family call me that.” the girl heard sunghoon stiffly respond in his most sincere tone.
y/n’s lips tried not to automatically curl into a smile with his rejection. she was never one to hate the girl, but truthfully, hearing him decline the name call was satisfying in her heart. she tried to not let her reaction show though, knowing that he’d occasionally glance at her time to time without being obvious.
when she started to top off the ice cream rolls with whipped cream and other toppings, a sudden song had boomed out throughout the building — causing her to widen her eyes.
‘glimpse of us’ by joji started to play at the right time.
she let out a soft sigh as the song continued out. “what great timing, really.” her weakened voice mumbled, shaking her head before announcing that their ice creams were ready.
y/n saw sunghoon’s tall figure stand up and walk to where she was. her heart was stupidly racing just at how close he was striding towards her.
“here you go, enjoy!” she quickly beamed with her high pitched voice, as if he was just a usual customer.
her back faced him to hide her sickened expression when she had sudden memories flooding in.
quick flashbacks of when they’d go on little adventurous dates popped in, and she was then reminded of when she’d stand up to go get their food but his hands wouldn’t let go of hers, so they’d just both go up together.
his hands couldn’t ever leave hers wherever they went. public display wasn’t a thing for him, but her hands always remained to be what he loved to be in contact with.
y/n’s brows scrunched together at the memory of him being clingy, watching how he couldn’t find it in himself to hold the new girl’s hands.
she felt tears spark at the rim of her eyes, threatening to take its fall as she was vividly reminded how happy she was with him.
the reason as to why they broke up was gone now.
someone who was once his gorgeous girl just wanted to be in that position of his date, to be sitting so close to him in that table and hear him talk about his life.
she wanted that.
she missed that.
she missed him.
“fuck this song is not helping..” y/n mumbled to herself, sniffling hard to get a hold of herself as the song was halfway through.
it loudly echoed through every corner of the place. she knew the lyrics would linger in his ears, possibly remind him about her too.
it was rest assured that he was most likely getting flashbacks just as much as she was, because she saw it in his eyes — his eyes that she missed staring into.
the girl felt her chest tighten as the heartbeats became more rapid. “fuck this, i’m gonna go take out the trash.” she grabbed the trash bin that had been gathered a few hours ago, and told her coworker what she was gonna do.
a heavy sigh heaved out of her once she realized that she was gonna have to walk pass the two who were seemingly enjoying the date so far.
she shook her head before going out and attempting to zoom pass them. as she did so, she felt his eyes on her.
sunghoon stared deeply at her as if he didn’t care if his date saw or not.
he knew that taking the trash out was dangerous. he knew because he remembered how she always told him the little scary stories of taking the trash out after her shifts — how excited she’d be to share her work stories to her partner.
the male would always scold her though, that she was stupid for going out alone because he just wanted her safe.
hoon wanted to stand up.
he just wanted to do something to ensure that the girl he could no longer protect would be safe within the few minutes she’d be gone.
but the voice of his blind date had snapped him out of it.
“is everything okay, sunghoon?” she asked, still clueless to the obvious tension between the cashier and her date.
“yeah no, i’m fine. is it good?” he excused, nodding his head to her ice cream.
“mhm!” she sweetly beamed — “wanna try it?”
sunghoon softly chuckled to pass away the awkwardness.
“no it’s okay, i’m sure it’s delicious.” he rejected with a light smile.
“you’ve been a little tense though. you wanna get out of here?” he heard the girl suggest.
his mouth opened into a shape of an ‘o’ as he truthfully just wanted to go home by himself. his eyes never met with hers, though still nodding and saying, “sure, we can go.”
sunghoon and the girl he was on a date with left out of the door, not forgetting to move the chairs back in its rightful place.
as they walked out, the loud rolling of the trash bin could be heard — hinting that y/n was nearby.
as soon as he turned his head to the other side, she was right there — returning with the trash bin in one hand.
“have a great day!” she mindlessly said to them, pressing her lips into a forced smile before entering back in.
the tall boy was slightly confused. he thought there’d be more tension, more yearning to look at each other again but that was it.
she said her greeting to them and was gone before he could long for her.
“thank you,” he heard his date say.
hoon was taken aback for a second before realizing it was best to just leave it as is. he gestured his date to the bus station, leaving y/n fully alone for the night.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
as the long lasting minutes of y/n’s shift finally finished, she closed up the store with her coworker.
the entire time she cleaned, she forgot it had been her last day with how the sudden appearance of her ex busied her mind. she never expected him to enter in, and to see him with someone else was almost like a stab in the back.
“get home safe, y/n! can’t believe this was my last day with you, i’ll miss you so much.” her coworker said with a slight frown.
“mhm you too! i’ll miss you too!!” the girl responded back.
she bid her coworker goodbye before turning back to the doors and locking them.
“finally..,” she mumbled with her eyes closed.
y/n let her body drag itself down onto the ground, hands reaching over to her face to cover herself as she started to breakdown.
being let go and encountering an ex on a date at her workplace was definitely something she was not expecting.
everything came crumbling down once the poor girl had the reminder of it being her last day from her coworker. tears streamed down her face as her vision slowly went into a blur.
y/n harshly sniffled, eyes still covered as she broke down even harder.
she knew it was stupid to cry in public.
and she knew it was especially dangerous since it was dark, and had to wait for the bus. she knew but at this point, what even mattered?
the girl gave a sigh out once she realized what she was doing. “come on y/n, don’t let it get to you.” she mumbled under her breath, hoping that nobody would come across the sobbing young adult in front of a closed store.
“you wanna talk about it?” a voice suddenly aired out.
a familiar voice at that.
her eyes widened, and she felt her heartbeats in her throat. she blinked a few more times before trailing her eyes up at the tall figure in front of her.
“sunghoon??” she questioned with a dry throat and watery eyes. the handsome boy gave a light chuckle that made her quickly stand up to her feet. “what are you doing here?”
“you’re still being unsafe, aren’t you?” hoon mindlessly said with a smile on his face.
y/n took a gulp, avoiding eye contact as she remained a little unsure on how to approach this situation. “why are you here hoon?” she asked, tone becoming a little more cold this time.
✩ ‘you said distance brings fondness but guess not with us’ ✩
he felt his heart stop at the nickname. it had been so long since he heard her call him that.
his eyes looked glassy as he attempted a smile. “just wanted to make sure you got home safe,” the boy faintly mumbled, causing y/n to barely process his words.
“you should go home.”
her heart was heavy with burden as she yearned to hear that he wanted to keep her safe, but she wasn’t his to worry about anymore.
sunghoon chuckled, scratching the back of his nape as he responded, “i can’t knowing that you’re out here alone.”
y/n nodded her head — “don’t you have a date to get back to?”
the petty tone was made clear in her voice even though she tried to sound unfazed.
the male smiled at her words, relieved to know that she definitely still had something for him.
“i took her home and made sure she got safe, but i needed to make sure that you got home safe too.”
she didn’t say anything as she only sniffled and nodded her head, wiping away the few tears she had before looking at him.
“well i’m fine so, you can go. thanks.”
y/n attempted to leave, not wanting to deal with such a mess anymore, only to be held back by his hand gripping onto her forearm. her body turned back towards him, a little more closer now as his hold caused her to slightly tumble.
“what, sunghoon?” she spoke with cold eyes.
hoon’s gaze never changed.
they remained soft with how he couldn’t reflect the cold shoulder she was trying to display. “let me walk you home,” he said while letting his grip go gentle.
y/n gulped at how his facial expression were so stern yet soft. her mind was saying no, but her heart was begging for another interaction.
“fine..,” she uttered in defeat.
the boy couldn’t help the coil in his lips that made him smile, and she noticed. she watched him try to hide away his precious grin that she loved when they were together.
as they walked along the street, their hands constantly bumped against each others, leaving little lingering touches with how their fingers just wanted to dangle together.
sunghoon wished to intertwine his hands with hers and keep their hands deep in his pockets, because that was what he used to do.
on cold days like these, he’d always shove their hands together in his jackets — engulfing her cold fingertips while using the weather as an excuse just to have some form of physical touch.
hoon remembered each time they did that on their walks, and y/n did too. they both did, and they both wanted to hands again.
they were so close too.
the boy’s hands almost reached for hers, which were only centimeters apart.
but y/n pulled away, shoving her own hands into her comfy pockets, unbeknownst that he was gonna attempt such a thing.
his lips pressed into a firm line before putting his own hands into his jacket as well to keep them warm.
“so.. you got laid off?” sunghoon awkwardly spoke, trying to break the silence.
his once lover turned to him with a slight head nod, not bothering to remark on how rude he was sounding in a playful way — because that was what they always did, tease each other.
“yep… today was my last day,” she muttered.
quiet sniffles were heard from her side as she got reminded of being let go once again. the girl bit her lips in hopes that he didn’t hear anything, or would possibly try and ignore it. but he heard it.
of course he would.
he always made sure he knew every small detail about her, and knowing her tone and demeanor through the voice cracks were just the tip of it. the small sniffles he picked up on just ensured that she wasn’t okay, and it broke his heart.
“i’m sorry,” hoon mumbled back.
“it’s not your fault, you don’t have to be sorry.” she said, softly laughing at his choice of words. “how was your date?”
he turned his head to her with an eyebrow raise.
in return, she rolled her eyes before nudging her elbow with his shoulder.
“oh come on, you know i had to ask that. that’s the biggest highlight of today.”
sunghoon smiled as he saw her lighten up a little more. “not sure if i should tell you,” he softly said with a teasing tone.
“oh please hoon, oh sorry.. sunghoon,” y/n paused for a second in shame.
continuing on as if nothing happened, she added — “you seemed like you had fun.”
the two were now approaching closer to her apartment complex as their topic remained out in the air.
“you want me to be honest?”
she felt the pulse of her heartbeats hitting her hand as her chest physically tightened again.
long story short, no, she didn’t want to.
she didn’t want to hear how well he was doing without her because how could he move on so quickly?
“she doesn’t compare to you,” her favorite boy quickly confessed with a pant.
y/n felt like her heart had dropped and then rapidly pick up once she got a hold of his words.
“what?” she mumbled under her breath.
“i can’t believe i’m admitting this,” hoon said with a slight chuckle, scratching the nape of his neck as he turned to face her. “i only went out with her because jay wanted me to. he was sick and tired of seeing me mope around with the loss of you.”
the girl tried to laugh the awkward confession off as she replied, “what..? you were moping around because of me?”
her hand reached to hit his arm almost instinctively before she stopped herself — “oh, sorry.. that would’ve been awkward.”
sunghoon grinned. “it’s okay, y/n…,”
they were now in front of her apartment complex, both reaching to a stop before facing each other.
“you know..,” he stopped his words to look at her deeply in the eyes. “i still look for you in every person.”
her heart stopped and tightened again at his sudden confession. her eyes instantly watered with tears as it took everything in her to hold back another breakdown.
“don’t..”
“what?” his face moved in a little closer to hers.
“don’t make me fall in love with you again.”
she turned her gaze away, mouth shaking as tears fell out without even realizing.
“y/n..,” sunghoon gently called, hands now reaching for hers distinctively.
he didn’t care if they were exes anymore. he just wanted to feel some kind of touch from her.
his hand attempted to hold hers but in seconds, she pulled herself into a hug with him instead.
her arms wrapped around his body, tightening with every second she was losing him.
“gorgeous?” he called again.
y/n missed hearing him call her that, but all she could do was shake her head on his chest.
his heart sank at the acknowledgment that this hug was what she needed all day.
it was what she longed for after exhausting hours.
knowing that she usually wasn’t the biggest person for physical touch, he softened at how much she simply melted in his arms.
the tall male wasn’t one to do public display, but for her? he was okay with it.
if she needed a hug, he was still willing to give one even if they were no longer together.
“you’re okay y/n, i’m here.” hoon softly uttered in her ear.
and it was like she was hit with a big reality check.
her eyes widened, realizing that she had given in for a hug. she quickly pushed herself off of him, breath a little shaky as she watched him only give a faint smile.
“i’m sorry sunghoon, i shouldn’t have hugged you. that was out of line, especially since we’re not together anymore. i just.., i just needed a hug but it’s okay.”
“y/n-“
“we can’t.”
the boy gave a half smile before approaching closer. his hand met her cold cheeks, giving gentle rubs with his thumb as he reassuringly said, “i know.” his eyes had now been the one to be sparked with tears. “which is why i’m letting you go now.”
y/n broke down right there.
the heart shattering truth that they both had to come to terms with hit them like a train wreck.
once she let the tears fall down her cheeks, sunghoon did too.
this had been one of the first few times she’s witnessed hoon break down and cry in their years together. the wet tears rapidly streamed down as he remained his best to look strong.
“be more safe from now on since i won’t be there anymore.” he muttered with a trembling voice.
the girl harshly bit her lips as his hand still remained on her cheek. he hated that he was the reason she was crying, but there couldn’t be any other way.
“i always thought you were the one and even now, i still do, so i think we shouldn’t talk until we both know we can handle seeing each other happy without the other.” he added in.
sunghoon attempted to keep a smile on his face, but couldn’t with how heart wrenching y/n had looked.
her eyes and nose were red, and her lips were trembling with fear.
“hoon, please…”
the name call shattered his heart into a million pieces.
it was the last time he was ever gonna hear her call him that, and he tried to savor it but he couldn’t. his heart was barely beating with how much pain was being endured.
“you’re right, but how could i ever get over someone like you? someone who was my soulmate?” y/n confessed with a weakened smile.
usually, he’d tease with how the girl he loved just admitted that he was her soulmate. but not this time.
he couldn’t.
the word ‘soulmate’ had him drop more tears in front of her.
he heard his pretty girl hiccup breaths of air in as her sobs slowly got louder.
“you were my everything, sunghoon.” y/n whispered, hands reaching up to hold the one that held onto her cheek.
his face was now pale as he plastered a soft grin that laced reassurance. “another universe right?” he spoke with a voice crack.
“right..,” the girl affirmed.
“i’ll be waiting for you then..,” hoon said with a hopeful smile.
he sniffled again before letting more tears fall, approaching closer to her facial features while whispering, “my pretty girl.”
✩ ‘it’s time to go’ ✩
he was handsome, of course he was.
he was drop dead handsome and y/n wanted to admire him, knowing that that’d possibly be the last time she’d ever see him again.
sunghoon moved closer to place a longing kiss on her forehead, lips trembling as she felt the running tears softly wet her own cheeks.
he pulled away, wishing he could linger just a little longer in her presence with eyes that were still filled with unsaid words.
unsaid words that she knew what he couldn’t say aloud.
the male let a small grin play on his lips before attempting to pull away his hand that still remained on her cheek — only to be held back by y/n’s grip. her hold tightened as her eyes screwed shut.
she didn’t want to let go. she wasn’t ready and she knew he wasn’t either.
but the odds were never in their favor.
so sunghoon let his hands slip out of her fingers as she instantly loosened the hold right after.
he gave another soft, reassuring smile before nodding — not wanting to say another word that could crack out weeping goodbyes.
✩ ‘you can’t force the stars to align when they’ve already died’ ✩
and that was it.
their closure was given, and even if they didn’t want to break up, it was written in the stars that they had to.
right person, wrong timing.
their timing could never be right with each other, and they both knew that. it wouldn’t have worked out no matter how hard they tried.
it’s astronomy after all, they’re two worlds apart.

18 Again Ep 6
**** SPOILERS****
Episode 6 has come to an end and with it the first three weeks of 18 Again.
This episode left me with mixed feelings.
Let’s start with Da Jung as the episode mostly centered around her. I loved seeing her kill it as a reporter on the scene of a scary situation. How she went to everybody on the scene from the medics to the firefighters to the police to gather information instead of applying her makeup was absolutely brilliant. Her dedication definitely deserved her reporting the news instead of the jealous senior reporter. I loathe almost everyone at her workplace however. The asshole CEO (or whoever the old dude is) forcing everyone to retract all their offers because he’s angry at the comments was infuriating. Does he not realize how quickly public attention shifts? I assure you, her divorce will become old news very soon - its not like there is a lack of drama and scandal in the world. Yoo Mi is also proving to continue to be a b*tch which is highly irritating. Also, I hope eventually she will be recognized as the most competent reporter they have. I also adore how she didn’t go to a training academy to be qualified or aid in the exams, she did it all by herself in front of a muted TV (with Dae Young looking fondly at her working) and got in purely on her talent and skill.
Furthermore, I love how the show calls out the taboo topic of divorce and how women in particular are treated in the aftermath (as if their worth suddenly diminishes now that they separated from their partner) and how absolutely stupid it is. Plus, as Ji Hoon pointed out saying the wrong thing leaves a more permanent stain on your reputation than a divorce.
Dae Young was great this episode. The beginning of the episode where Da Jung’s heel breaks (after a very awkward love triangle standoff) and she goes with Ji Hoon to the hospital instead of Woo Young stung. You felt like Woo Young/Dae Young was the third wheel to Da Jung and Ji Hoon and it was really sinking in for him how he was only an observer in her life now (especially as Woo Young) and so couldn’t help her but instead watch others help her and that she had the freedom to have this new romantic life as well because she is divorced now. Then him arriving to the hospital after having her shoes fixed and getting her slides only to see them being very comfortable with each other and her having new shoes provided by Ji Hoon - you felt his anguish this entire time. It was perhaps the longest 10 minutes of my life because I couldn’t bear watching it in one sitting.
Dae Young and Deok Jin were absolute peak comedy though. The amount of beeping that went on in that conversation (after Deok Jin gifted Dae Young a signed Ji Hoon jersey not knowing that Dae Young is no longer a fan) was so funny. It was nice to see Dae Young no longer have to pretend to be someone else and be absolutely casual and brutal to his longtime best friend. The horror on the employees’ faces just made it all the more perfect. Him attempting to comfort Deok Jin later on in the episode was very sweet though. You could tell that while Dae Young cursed at Deok Jin a lot, he also genuinely cared about him.
Your heart ached for Dae Young when him and Da Jung  were walking back in the rain (after she ran to him with an umbrella after seeing him just standing there looking at her) and he told her “thank you for always caring about me” - he was not saying that as Woo Young but as Dae Young, speaking for all those years that he never really thanked her properly for caring about him. Him watching her broadcast live and on his phone with a smile on his face was so sweet. I freaking love how Dae Young signed to the deaf lady asking for directions (I really hope they continue to show this ability of his because it meant he took the time to learn how to communicate to the hard of hearing because he cared about talking to them).
I love the minute progress we are getting with Woo Young and Si Woo’s bond because Si Woo invited him over to work on homework. Woo Young’s face absolutely lit up and you knew that Dae Young was over the moon to get that offer. Him seeing the dishes in the sink and the realization that he never did the amount of housework he should have (leading her to pick up after him more than she should have-which is at all) was an important one. I love how he was committed to doing the dishes instead of working on the assignment (that he could potentially fail as a result). It shows how he wanted to make up for his past mistakes more than he wanted to succeed independently as a 18 year old student. I am a little bothered that Woo Young and Si Ah’s relationship has made no progress beyond them sniping at each other and her generally getting annoyed at his presence. A conversation along a calmer vein would be a nice change. The fact that he wanted to blurt out that he was her father during their argument was hilarious. But what made me crack up laughing was the multitude of facial expressions that flashed across Woo Young’s face and his physical surprise at seeing his mother-in-law as he exited the bathroom (after he finished talking to her on the phone as Dae Young). He practically ran out of the apartment.
There was also a Si Ah romantic story line moment between her and Ji Ho. It absolutely made me smile. Him preventing a heavy box from falling on her and the way they looked at each other made me feel like the love triangle is tilting in Ji Ho’s favor. Them locking hands simultaneously while the teachers came closer to the cabinet they were hiding in made me squeal. Was he going to kiss her? Who knows but I think that she likes him more than she lets on.
We learn more about Ji Hoon this episode. The revelation that he is a father came as a little bit of a shock. I wonder who the other man in the photo on the shelf was and how the woman who ushered her husband out the door when the news came over the radio is connected to the entire thing (she looked more worried than she should have been if she was just a random person). It is really nice though to see another dad who cares immensely for his child. I am here for the normalizing the existence of the loving dad. The way he ran out of the stadium at the news she was missing and the way he ran into the police station to find her really tugged at your heartstrings. But what topped the cake of adorableness was the way he was carrying her as they left the station. However his family situation ends up panning out as more gets revealed, you can tell that he really loves the little girl. The police officer leaking that information and taking photos of them was downright low and how public opinion shifted was another example of how nonsensical people’s expectations of others are (in this case- a celebrity baseball player possessing a family when he should probably be single in their eyes). You can tell also how taken he is by Da Jung (and it was really nice to see Da Jung smile freely and laugh freely at the baseball stadium).
Several things bothered me this episode though that left a rather bitter taste on my tongue.
First, they are continuing to paint the grandfather as this sympathetic  figure which pisses me off. They have completely glossed over the fact that he abused his son- like because it was in the past and only happened to Dae Young (whom everybody hates right now) it no longer matters which is absolute bullshit. I don't understand why Da Jung would treat the grandfather so nicely. "Because he is your parent" does not excuse any of the parent's behaviors. If I found out that my SPOUSE was going  behind my back and regularly interacting with my ABUSIVE PARENT (and bringing my CHILDREN along eventually), I would be beyond furious.
The  behavior of Da Jung's mother towards Dae Young also ticked me off. It  has only been 6 episodes but I am tired of everyone treating Dae Young  as the epitome of human trash when he is far from it. How on earth is he  ever going to repair things when everyone has this cemented terrible opinion of him?!! And WHY would talking to your mother in law be a  requirement to get divorced?! Like her opinion matters?!!! It is their  relationship- not hers. The only people who should matter are Dae Young, Da Jung, Si Woo and Si Ah. The fact that the grandparents are expecting  to be consulted or being apologized to is freaking archaic.
It was sad also to see the behavior of Da Jung towards Dae Young’s phone call. On one hand, it makes complete sense because she just divorced him because of their crumbling relationship. On the other, it just signifies the large chasm that exists between them and I have no idea if and how it is going to be bridged in the next 10 episodes.
Another thing that bothered me was Da Jung and Ji Hoon's relationship. I admit I have no emotional investment in her separate love line as a result of the more heart-tugging plot lines. However, in no way whatsoever do I begrudge Da Jung of happiness. I admire that she is following her dreams even if the path to get there was in no means traditional. She is an amazing mom and an amazing broadcaster. She deserves all the happiness in the world and if Ji Hoon makes her happy so be it. I also like that 18 Again is showing her side of the story as the movie never really focused on it.
What I have a problem with is the timing of her relationship. Perhaps if this relationship was introduced later after some things in the story had resolved, I would have a different mindset. But the show presented as one of the main sources of heartbreak --- the chasm that has built up between Dae Young and his children. Thus, I - the audience -  am emotionally invested in this family relationship. The resolution of this pain, both as Dae Young and Woo Young, is where I am pouring most of my emotional commitment and energy. I want to see Woo Young get closer to both Si Ah and Si Woo, and the bond between Dae Young, Si Ah and Si Woo to be repaired. So I am uncomfortable with how the show seems to prioritize Da Jung and her love line while giving Dae Young minuscule progress with his children. I would have preferred for this story line to come into play when his relationship with his children is looking more hopeful. That it is happening now makes me unable to stop thinking that it is diverting time and attention away from the relationships I care the most about. If we pass the halfway mark and this trend still continues, I will be out for blood.
The fact that the P.E. teacher is still in this story infuriates me. How incredibly low of him to pose as Teacher Ok's boyfriend just to hurt Deok Jin. For him to describe himself as a friend when all of his actions point to how he still delights in causing Deok Jin pain all these years later is an outright lie. What sucks is that Teacher Ok said she had a boyfriend just to get away from the situation not intending it to be such a large source of pain that it became when the P.E. took that opportunity to be a douchebag. Also while Deok Jin’s attempt to ask her out came from a good place, I do not appreciate that no wasn’t respected as an answer. No means no - no questions asked no further prodding appreciated.
The best part of the entire episode was the epilogue hands down. I love how the shoes came from Dae Young (even though she thinks they came from Ji Hoon which stings) and how he was her biggest fan. My favorite thing about the epilogue though was all of the little things he did (repairing the light, doing the dishes and leaving her favorite snack on the table) and how he confessed he finally realized that it was the small things that made her happy. “It’s impossible to share my feelings because it’s too late. But I’ll be okay as long as it makes you smile.” MY HEART. It tugs on all my heartstrings how committed he is to her happiness in this new beginning even if all of the things he does to make her happy are never recognized as coming from him because all he wants is to make her smile. It feels so bittersweet because it feels like in the end he is going to walk away, or let her walk away completely, in the name of her happiness.
The previews for the next episode seem to promise a lot of drama. I never envisioned Ae Rin being the first to find out that Woo Young is Dae Young nor would I want her to be the first (though her dramatic slipper breaking scene was hilarious as was the contrast between how much more care Woo Young gave Da Jung and how much indifference he gave Ae Rin). While she has instances where she is a good friend, I am not her biggest fan. Primarily for the clips shown in the preview. I despise people who knowingly get drunk beyond their limits and blurt out other people’s secrets, potentially endangering other people. Ae Rin is shown to do this and blurt out said “Woo Young = Dae Young” secret IN FRONT OF CHIEF DOUCHEBAG P.E. TEACHER. I am in fear of the damage that the P.E. teacher will do with this information (because the show does not need more problems thank you very much).
I am sick and tired of there being barely any change between Dae Young as Woo Young and his children and absolutely no change between Dae Young as Dae Young and his children. I am also sick of the P.E. teacher’s toxic and evil existence as well as the glossing over of child abuse (both of Dae Young and Ja Sung). I hope the show shows progress in the familial and friendship relationships I care about (as well as people being brought under the Dae Young Woo Young Dad Friend Umbrella) and does not shift its focus to being a romantic love saga of Da Jung. I also hope that the P.E. teacher does not cause irreparable damage and set back any and all progress Dae Young has been making a million years.
Looking towards next Monday with bated breath but still highly recommend.

Casting Thoughts
Yes, I did a long post when the rumours first dropped but hey now it’s confirmed plus we have characters descriptions, and I’m bored so let’s do this all over again people.  Under the cut because it got long
Sisi Stringer as Rose Hathaway
I said this in my other post but I’m pretty happy with Sisi as Rose.
Visually I think she’s a great fit, I love that they casted a WoC in the main role, and I think if she can bring Rose’s humour and sarcasm to the role, she’s going to do great.
The character description mentions Rose being “fiery and outspoken”, happy to jump into the action, and the strongest fighter in her class but struggling to toe the line, which is all very Rose-esque, especially in the first book.  It sounds to me like they have a good grasp on her character.
I’m a little disappointed we didn’t hear more about Rose as a character since she is the lead - it felt like the descriptions for Lissa and Dimitri both gave us a little more to go on - but it is only a very preliminary description so I’m happy to wait for more.
Daniela Nieves as Lissa Dragomir
Daniele is another one who I was happy with straight away.
She’s probably not what I imagined for Lissa visually but that’s not a bad thing either; I will be interested to see if they dye her hair a lighter colour (like a caramel-blonde) but personally that’s not something I need to see for her to be a great fit for Lissa.
I think she has a very sweet face which works well for a character like Lissa but I think she’s also going to be able to stand up in Lissa’s more fiercer moments which is nice to see as well.
The character descriptions mentions her as being “carefree and kind-hearted” who “coasts” through life until a death in the family thrusts her into a new role.  That sounds a lot like pre-series Lissa so I wonder if we’re going to see a bit of that in the show before Andre (and her parents??) die and see that change.
It’s curious though that she’s described as the younger sister of the heir apparent - which would be Andre - so it sounds like they’ve changed it so Andre was supposed to be King.  Obviously a deviation from the books but I don’t hate it?  I don’t think it would change Lissa’s arc all that much because obviously she was always going to grow up to be an influential royal figure, this just slightly changes the dynamics of it.
The description also specifically mentions that she’s uninterested in “political machinations” and the “hypocrisy of the moroi royal society” which sounds very accurate to book!lissa as well.
All in all I’m very happy with what they’re doing with Lissa.
Keiron Moore as Dimitri Belikov
This is one who’s really grown on me since the rumoured cast list started circulating.  At first I was kind of eh about him but I can really see him as Dimitri now.
I will be curious to see if he grows out his hair or not though.
As far as I know Keiron is not Russian, there’s not a lot about him online, but there’s some instagram activity on his account linking him to UK based companies so that would be my guess as to where he’s from.  They’ve kept Dimitri’s incredibly Russian name so I guess we’re to assume Keiron might be doing an accent and they’re keeping Dimitri’s backstory relatively the same?  I’m not gonna be super mad if they change it just because I think it’s doable for him not to be Russian (I know, I know a whole book is set in Russia but lbr here they could make him from anywhere and just send Rose there in that book).
The biggest thing for me will be his chemistry with Sisi, Danila and Zoey had great chemistry (imo anyway) which saved the move a little for me, so it’ll be important that Sisi and Keiron do as well.  They’ve interacted a few times online which is cute so I’m hoping they were able to do some chemistry reads and that will translate on screen.
The character description mentions Dimitri as being “lethal, disciplined, discreet, and totally committed” as well as living by “a deep moral code” but with more going on “beneath his stoic, watchful surface” which sounds exactly like book!Dimitri to me.
They don’t really specify what his role at St Vlad’s is going to be but they do mention that he is a guardian so I’m assuming they’re keeping some sort of age gap between him and Rose.  They also don’t mention anything about their relationship in the description, be it student/teacher, platonic, romantic, whatever, but they do say he has “an expansive spirit that could threaten to expose the underlying tension between his sense of what’s right and his formal duty to the Moroi.” which seems like a nod to their relationship.
Andre Dae-Kim as Christian Ozera
This was one of my favourite casting choices from the original rumoured cast list and I still love it.
The idea of a non-white Christian makes a lot of sense to me and I think Andre could do a great job of Christian’s aloofness (in the first book) as well as his sarcasm and growing confidence across the other books.
His character description confuses me a bit though: “Intelligent and thoughtful, Christian is the pariah of the school and royal court, due to his parents’ unforgivable societal sins.” sounds accurate enough to the book (although idk if thoughtful is quite the word I’d use for Christian - maybe they mean it in the sense that he’s quiet and keeps to himself?).
Even “Well-read and hungry for knowledge” doesn’t sound that far off, idk if he was *that* particularly studious in the books, but it doesn’t necessarily not make sense either you know?
But “he searches for faith-based answers and discovers a kindred spirit who is also looking for the truth” ??? My cynical, irreverent asshole Christian is now a man of faith? I’m assuming Lissa is the “kindred spirit” (again weird word choice but maybe they mean she’s feeling lost because of the death of her family?) but I just cannot see Christian as being particularly religious.
I’m trying to keep an open mind about these changes because you never know they might play out totally different on screen, but I really hope they didn’t make these changes, particularly that Christian is studious and religious, just because they cast an Asian actor as him (because they feel a little like Asian stereotypes).
J August Richards as Victor Dashkov
This is one that didn’t appear on the original rumoured cast list (as far as I saw) and it’s so different to his description in the books that I kind of don’t have an opinion about it as a casting choice.
I’ve never seen him in anything before so purely on a visual level I think he could be a great fit for Victor, I just think it’ll really come down to how he plays it.
As for this character description: “Victor is a Moroi noble vampire with a heart of gold who’s highly regarded for his role as advisor and political strategist to Moroi dignitaries.” as well as mentioning that he has intelligence and influence, sounds pretty accurate to the book.  Obviously if Andre was the heir to the throne, Victor had to be shifted out of that role, but I think his book 1 arc could still work if they wanted it to.
The “heart of gold” bit obviously made me chuckle and I really hope they threw it in there as a kind of decoy to throw non-book-readers off the fact that he’s actually the villain in book 1/s1.
As for giving him a husband and two daughters, my thoughts are: why the fuck not? He didn’t have a love interest in the original books and I’m always down for more lgbtq+ rep.  My only concern is it maybe playing into the trope of evil/villain characters being queer-coded.  And as for having two daughters, well as long as one of them is Natalie I don’t mind.
Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Tatiana Vogel
Okay this is the most bizarre one imo, not because of the casting, but just the character description.
I mean “Tatiana is a Moroi vampire and political underdog who slowly takes the royal court by storm. Motivated by love and a sense of justice, Tatiana has a unique skill of making herself seem of no consequence until we realize much too late that she was always the one to watch.” sounds extremely Tasha Ozera to me, so like why not just make this character Tasha?  Nothing about this sounds like Tatiana, and Tatiana wasn’t even a Vogel anyway (well Vogel wasn’t even one of the 12 royal families), she was an Ivashkov.
In terms of Anita-Joy herself, well I mean we don’t really have a character to compare her to, is she supposed to be more like Tasha or Tatiana?  She looks fairly young, so my guess is actually on Tasha, but we’ll have to wait to see I guess.
Mia McKenna-Bruce as Mia Karp
This is another one that I was instantly a fan of.
I was so not a fan of Mia’s casting in the movie (I can’t even remember who played her tbh but I really didn’t like it) so this Mia is a lot closer to how I imagine her.
I think she’ll be able to carry Mia’s transformation from bratty social-climber to badass fighter really well.
The character description is interesting though.  “Witty, cutting, and just the right kind of ruthless when necessary, non-Royal Mia has a long-term plan to social climb her way into the ranks of royalty, with all the privilege and freedom that entails.” sound pretty bang on to Mia in the first book.
“A plan complicated by her instant chemistry with Meredith, a Guardian-in-training, as Mia struggles to reconcile her attraction to Meredith with her lowly status.” is an obvious deviation though, and one I kind of love???  Give me all the queer rep, and if we get to see Mia confront the issue of comp-het I’m so here for it.
It’s kind of funny though because I’ve seen theories that Meredith is a replacement for Eddie and Mia/Eddie has always been my sort of rarepair ship.
The last name Karp is weird af though.  Is she supposed to be Sonya’s daughter?  And if that’s the case I wonder if we’re going to actually see Sonya turn Strigoi in the show’s first season or something and that triggers the change in Mia?  Interesting concept but I’m not sure how the timeline will work.
Rhian Blundell as Meredith
So this is another new one, and tbh I hadn’t given Meredith *that* much though in the past but she’s probably close to how I would have pictured her which is cool.
The elephant in the room with this casting is that Meredith’s role in the books was relatively minor - she was just kind of that character that got brought up whenever R.M needed a dhampir who wasn’t Rose/Dimitri/Mason/Eddie.  So clearly she’s going to have a bigger role in the tv show which I don’t mind but I do wonder if we’re going to lose a character - probably Eddie lbr - in order to have her.  They haven’t casted an Eddie yet as far as we know, but I have seen it pointed out that Eddie’s role in book 1 was pretty small so maybe they just aren’t announcing it.  But there’s also the possibility that maybe Meredith will sort of replace Eddie and be the third part of Rose and Mason’s friendship.
I’m very interested by this part of her character description though, “She has little patience for Rose’s volatility or Mia’s elitism, and regularly calls both of them out.”
Jonetta Kaiser as Sonya Karp
I don’t necessarily dislike Jonetta as Sonya but I am confused by this choice.  She looks fairly young, which tbf Sonya was young-ish I guess, but if Mia is supposed to be her daughter she doesn’t look old enough to have a teenaged daughter.  So maybe Sonya and Mia are sisters? Cousins? Just have each other’s last names for no reason? I really don’t know.  They also look nothing alike.
Other than that, I don’t really have an opinion about Jonetta as Sonya.  Obviously looks nothing like how Sonya was described but that’s not new nor a massive concern for me.
I can’t really tell just from looking at her, and I haven’t seen her in anything, if she would play a good Sonya.  I think with a lot of the characters it’s going to come down to the personality they bring to the part and the writing.
I looooooove her character description though:  “Quiet, careful and decidedly odd, Sonya is not of royal bloodline and sits out on the fringe of Moroi society, preferring to spend her time in the library or her gardens. Not a person who likes a scene, nonetheless she has a quiet but profound power of her own. She is taken by surprise when a Dhampir Guardian named Mikhail shows interest in her, a relationship that will expose both the brightest and darkest parts of her heart.”  It’s everything I would probably want from a description of Sonya and I’m more and more convinced that we’re going to see Sonya’s descent into madness and transformation into a Strigoi play out in maybe the first season which I am so curious how they’re going to work into the timeline.
Andrew Liner as Mason Ashford
Our last one and another one who doesn’t look remotely like his description but again? Not a surprise and not a problem for me.  He looks like he could play Mason’s goofiness really well as well as be a solid contender for a love interest for Rose.
“Charming, loyal and popular, Mason is Rose’s main competition in the quest to become the No. 1 Guardian-in-training. Though their relationship is casual on her side, he is hopeful she will finally look at him and see him as something more.” His character description makes a lot of sense, maybe him being Rose’s main competition is a bit of a deviation? But I think that’s more an indication that he’s supposed to be a strong fighter which isn’t inaccurate to the books.  The rest sounds great.
Other Thoughts
Descriptions of the show specifically mention friendship and classism as major themes which I am very happy to hear about because those are the two parts of VA that I love the most.
Am a little more worried about it being described as “sexy” though, if they shove a whole bunch of meaningless sex scenes in it just because it’s a YA show I’m not gonna be happy.
Seen the show compared to “Game of Thrones” and “Bridgerton” which at first had me like oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck not good not good not good.  But thinking about it more and trying to understand where Plec’s coming from with that description I wonder if means similar to GoT as in the cut-throat nature of the Moroi/Dhampir society cause I can kind of see that.  And as for Bridgerton I wonder if she’s referring to the kind of social-climbing aspects of it, because again that makes sense and it seems like a theme she really wants to concentrate on.  I hope that’s what she means by those comparisons, or that she just wants to compare it to popular shows to get people to watch it.  The worst would be if she tries to throw in a lot of unnecessary sex scenes to make it like those shows, because I hate when they do that, especially when the characters are teenagers.
Interesting to hear that Plec has known about the series since before Twilight or TVD - not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
Seems like it’s actually mostly (or all??) written by Marguerite MacIntyre which is interesting because I know people were worried about Julie Plec - I’ve never watched anything by either of them so I’m neutral at this point.

itaewon class.
overview.
this drama was absolutely incredible an absolute gold mine. i was originally interested because park seo-joon is a part of the cast and let’s be real every drama he touches turns to gold. i loved how dynamic the characters and plots were present throughout. i loved that it attempted to touch various topics including racism and class structures. it had a little bit of everything.
this drama follows sae-ro-yi, a steadfast and determined individual. it starts with him going to high school and protecting a fellow classmate. which ends him up in a debacle with the school bully, jang geun-won who is the son of the great jang ga group, jang dae-hee. this is the company whom sae-ro-yi father helped build from the bottom up. sae-ro-yi holds to his beliefs as he was protecting a fellow student he doesn’t bow in apology, and he ends up getting expelled and his father losing his job. through all this, his father continues to encourage his son and saying how proud he is of his son for standing for what is right. shortly after, his father is killed in a hit and run accident. when sae-ro-yi comes to find that it was all geun-won’s doing he violently beats him ending him up in jail. while in jail he desires to finish opening his restaurant that his father and himself started dreaming. it leaves him with a 10 year plan landing him in itaewon, where he comes to open danbam pub with a close knit group of soon to be lifelong friends.
i would highly recommend this drama it was dynamic and i never knew what to expect coming from the various characters we had the pleasure of following. i thoroughly enjoyed the duration of this drama from seeing how he overcame his time in prison, and raising money to get to a place to open his pub it was great.
Tumblr media
*spoilers ahead * you have been warned.
characters.
sae-ro-yi. this man was incredibly steadfast in the pursuit of his dream. at first it was interesting, because it appeared to be a revenge plot to get back at jangga group. but by the end he realized that he had more to fight for. he went through years in prison, and a fishing boat, to make it to a place to raise enough money to open a pub in itaewon. he grew this pub with trusting those around him and learning the world of investments and stocks to then eventually be able to buy out jangga group after their countless scandals. it really came full circle for him. and it was because he was unwavering in his goal of making people the priority.
jang geun-won is at the center of the incredible character development of sae-ro-yi. this kid. i am still conflicted on how to feel because at the center i feel that a lot of his evil qualities stem from his raising. his father made him kill a chicken and consider all the people around him livestock as the only way to get through life. then when he did screw up and ran away from a hit and run, he got it covered up by someone else. when one is taught with that perspective how can you not be a completely and utterly twisted human being. but then again he had many opportunities to switch his direction. when he was talking with soo-a all those times when she was like nah you’re not great, get it together. but then he went and kidnapped yi-seo because he knew it would get sae-ro-yi out so he could kill him. like that’s messed up. sooo yeah i take it back he was a horrible person. terribly twisted character.
jang dae-hee. his man is messed up and i find it difficult to find that he was so thrown off by sae-ro-yi. it may be because he found a bit of his old self in him. because sae-ro-yi was steadfast in his beliefs where as the ceo wavered and changed with the times to further the company. i also need to add, that this man is an incredible actor especially as they had him age dramatically throughout this show.
soo-a this woman was also messed up and worked for jangga group even though she knew that sae-ro-yi’s dad was killed by the son and covered up by the ceo. what a crap friend. i did not appreciate how in the last few episodes they wanted me to like her character because she did finally develop a conscience and payback sae-ro-yi’s dad two fold and turned in jangga group for all the crap they’ve done over the years. but sae-ro-yi pursued her for so long and then when he developed feelings for yi-seo is when she got woke and was like wait hold the phone. ya know what sister, you lost your chance, so good bye felicia.
Tumblr media
yi-seo. this girl. *insert slow clap* i came to truly love this character. she was crazy and still is crazy but she has her lovely qualities as well. sae-ro-yi needed the balance in his life, and he was living his life in a deep revenge scheme, she was there to advocate for the best for him. she had no regards for herself in some instances, when she recorded geun-won confessing to killing sae-ro-yi’s dad, and how she got slapped dang. i appreciated that he finally got woke and realized that all this time he had feelings for her. when it came time to try and find her after geun-won had kidnapped them and the ceo jang was the only one who knew where they were, he easily got down on his knees because he knew that he needed to save her and that he had something worth more than his pride.
i’m willing to do it thousands of times.
there’s nothing easier than this.
i love how sae-ro-yi also kept her in line, because she could never hold her tongue. and she hurt those around her without realizing the consequences of her actions. (also his little head pat thing TT)

jang geun-soo. this kid should have been majorly twisted at the start, having the same raising as geun-won, but he was a sweet precious bean who found a friend in yi-seo. however, she never saw him in the same light he saw her. and that twisted his outlook and pursuit of his goals. he easily threw her feelings for sae-ro-yi under the bus and exposed her, and then went off to work for jangga to take over the company and win her heart. in the pruusit of his he released information about hyun-yi to the media during the cooking competition. and he became a different person. then at the end he came to his senses and went to apologize to the crew at danbam. i must also add i loved the hyung relationship that sae-ro-yi had developed with geun-soo even before he knew his family. and this lasted throughout the drama he was always there to offer advice and stand up for him, as well as forgive him when need be.
the danbam crew. choi seung-kwon went through major character development in the time he knew sae-ro-yi. he woke him up and showed him that he can change his perspective and elevate himself. he didn’t need to be a gangster even if that was his past self. and this was insanely prominent after yi-seo was kidnapped and he went to his previous gang to find out where they were, and he ended up calling the cops to solve the issue rather than doing so with his fists. he also developed in his perspective of those around him, especially in his growing feelings for ma hyuun-yi. she was the character who experienced a gender transformation in the early episodes of the show. her character was so great (and i must say that i love lee joo-young ever since ‘weightlifting fairy’). her character was insanely strong and went through so much as a part of her that she wished to be kept personal and secret was released to the public. she was strong and continued to hold her head high through it all. toni kim this boy brought light to the issue of racism and how deep set it is in the culture. i love that he started working there and how kim soon-rye, the investor and someone opposed to him, ended up being his grandmother. i found that all the members of danbam really enhanced each others qualities whether good or bad. and if bad they grew and developed to overcome them.
Tumblr media
sae-ro-yi’s father, park sung-yeol. this man was such an encouraging force for sae-ro-yi. he helped him finally realize what life was and how it should be lived.
i’m going to embrace my yearning heart and continue tot love my life.
you finally got it that is what life is. you can overcome anything as long as you’re alive.
and the whole drinking alcohol thing, when it had been bitter tasting for so long and how it ended up being sweet in the end because he had the joy from those around him. i wept.
plot & themes.
i felt that they attempted to tackle large issues from transgender, racism, and social class structures. i found that they were are lightly touched and resurfaced every once in a while. i appreciate that they brought it to light, however i was disappointed that it was never fully addressed, but then again they did a lot considering other dramas don't even try.
sae-ro-yi went through so many hardships and it really developed his character. being thrown in jail. having to work on a fishing vessel to raise funds. from having jangga company taking over his original building, to having to buy his own building to continue danbam. and all the twists from the cooking show they participated in and how even geun-soo realized information about hyun-yi in hopes of deterring their win. then as time went on they grew the company, our yi-seo ends up in the hospital and gets kidnapped. when sae-ro-yi goes to find her he gets run over just like his dad, another hit and run. then when he goes to ceo jang to find their location he gives him the go around and makes him bow to him. then when they find out where she and geun-soo are they get beaten up again. literally his bean went to hell and back again. i am glad that we saw them in the last clips as they found joy in their day to day, and he finally confessed to her as
my head and heart are all filled with you.
i love you.
and how yi-seo now goes around asking him, ‘do you like me?’ and he makes the clarification nah i don’t just like you ‘i love you.’ i really appreciate this distinction because he followed soo-a around for years saying he liked her, and that this is different.
there were so many favorite moments (sad happy and everything in between) throughout the drama so here are a few in no particular order:
yi-seo determining that she wants to help sae-ro-yi overcome everything and anything in his path
when sae-ro-yi opens up to yi-seo about his past and she sees all his scars and she cries while he holds her.
when sae-ro-yi encourages hyun-yi to do what she wants even though it would throw their investment opportunities if they failed the best pub cooking show. but if it was best for hyun-yi that is what he was going to back.  and then how she is an incredible boss and says...
Tumblr media
yi-seo finally confessing to him, and all he has excuses as to why it wouldn’t work. when we all know he loves her but is too stubborn to see anything but soo-a. even though i knew her feelings weren’t reciprocated at the moment my heart still shattered into a millions billion pieces when he said he never had feelings and when she confessed saying she loved him and he made up excuses  and told her not to love him.
when toni finds out that the investor ahjumma is his grandmother, and that they are family and she welcomes him in with open arms.
when sae-ro-yi finally cries. because dang was this a moment. when he wakes up after being run over and realizing that he didn't save yi-seo and that he is at a total loss. it’s a breaking point for him, and really everyone in the room felt it.
park bo gum being that handsome chef in the end at soo-a’s cafe.
i hope everyone enjoyed this drama as much as i did, and as always i am sure i missed things, and it just ended so i am still processing. but dang this one was really good, and i’d rate it a 12 out of 10.

Once Bitten, Twice Stupid 192
192
Holding Keith’s hand in public felt nice. Walking from the hotel to the restaurant, Lance found himself watching families of all types as they walked. He couldn’t help it. A smile coming to his lips as he watched kids nag their parents, or listened to them as they played. His hand sitting on his stomach while his mind substituted the kids for their twins, and the parents as Keith. Keith would be such a good dad. He absolutely knew that for certain. He’d worried when Keith had spent most of the night sleepless, the walk seeming to invigorate him as it wore away Keith’s energy. Keith needed his coffee pronto, lest a server cop his boyfriend’s uncaffeinated anger loaf rage.
Leading Keith into the restaurant, it had a kind of rustic charm. Heavy oak logs made the walls, with all kinds of memorabilia stuck to the walls, including a giant stuffed fish with a plaque that red “Billy Bass”. It appealed to his tacky side in all the right ways. Sending Keith to find a seat, his boyfriend slouched off to throw himself into the only available booth. Lance giving a shake of his head affectionately. He really loved that cranky werewolf. Waddling over to the counter, he forced himself to remember to look and act like a girl. Keith didn’t know he was terrified of the same kind of comments made at the petting zoo being repeated. This trip had to go as well and as smoothly as it could. Picking up the menu, he knew instantly he wanted more than pancakes. Everything smelt vaguely appealing, and Keith would eat like there was no tomorrow.
“What can I do you for, darling?”
Jumping at being unexpectedly talked to, the woman behind the counter cackled at him
“Sorry, love! I didn’t think you’d be lost in thought over a menu”
Lance flashed a smile, careful of his teeth. He kind of wished he’d worn a set of glasses. The more he stood in the restaurant, the more he heard and the bigger the world suddenly seemed to be
“Sorry, everything sounds so good I’m not sure where to begin”
The woman chuckled
“I remember those feelings. How many you got in there?”
“Two. I guess I do look pretty big”
“And carrying low, you’ll be in labour no time, love. Now. What do think?”
No. Nope. No labour for him. Not unless he was comfortably set up at VOLTRON... he’d hold his legs together for as long as possible if their twins dared to think of coming this soon
“I think I’m famished. Can I please order two sets of pancakes and two sets of the bacon breakfasts? Ooooh, and I’ll grab a fruit salad, two of the largest coffees you have, aaaand... I think I’ll have a green tea latte... and a fruit salad. Yeah, that’s all, thank you... oh! Do you guys have soy milk? I don’t want to gas my boyfriend”
The woman behind the counter ogled him fo a moment, shaking her head and laughing again
“I don’t know where you’re going to fit all that... We have soy, almond, and regular. None of that skin stuff”
Lance blushed. He couldn’t help that he didn’t exactly know what he felt like, but food seemed like an amazing idea
“It’s for me and my partner. Soy will be fine, thanks”
The woman slapped his arm gently with the back of her hand
“I know that, love. Just an old woman teasing”
“You don’t look that old”
She looked about the age he should look... her name tag reading “Dae”, the white tag almost lost in the red of her bright red shirt
“That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day. Now, darling, cash or card?”
“Card please”
The woman rang up there largish breakfast bill. Lance paying as he was trapped into small talk
“So, love. Are you here for our Easter markets? Or you one of those passing through?”
“Oh, my boyfriend and I are spending a few days here. We’re meeting up with some friends”
The woman printed him a receipt without him asking
“I’m sure you’ll find this quite boring compared with the cities around here, but we have own charm. Now, can I get a name for this order?”
He’d been prepared for that. He’d made kind of a mental story for himself. He and his photographer boyfriend were driving up, stopping in small towns as Keith built up a portfolio in the hopes of turning to selling prints online
“Lancella... my, uh, parents were hoping for a boy”
“I’m sure they love you at any rate. We can’t help our names. You go take a load off and I’ll bring your coffee over. Take my advice, love, take a look at the markets while you’re here. They really are something else”
“Awesome. We might just take your advice. Thank you”
Siding, barely, into the booth opposite Keith, Keith was glaring at the menu in his hands. Tugging it free, his boyfriend huffed as Lance set the menu back into its holder
“Your coffee’s coming”
“Good”
Keith should have perked up at the thought of coffee. The scent was strong enough that Lance’s stomach was threatening to turn traitor right there at the booth
“Babe?”
“It’s nothing. You looked like you were having a good conversation, Lancella”
Lance rolled his eyes at the name
“I’m a simple man. The best lies have a kernel of truth in them”
“It pisses me off that you have to lie. You’re you. If people don’t like that, they can go play in traffic”
There was his grumpy little anger loaf. He’d also realised something that was likely to make Keith grumpier
“You can’t just put them in traffic. You know, we’re going to be in trouble”
Keith sighed deeply
“What for now?”
“I’m starving... and all that food has to come back up. Plus, apparently I’m going to pop soon”
Scowling at him, Keith sat back and crossed his arms. His voice firm and joke free
“There’s no way you’re allowed to even think about giving birth in this crappy town. Don’t even think about going into labour”
Sometimes it was scary how in tune they were. He didn’t want to give birth here, yet he couldn’t hate this town
“I don’t know. This town isn’t that crappy. This is the town you were born in and you’re not crappy. Maybe crabby... but not crappy”
“You’re fucking hilarious”
Lance shot his boyfriend double finger guns
“I try. But seriously, I’m starving...”
He’d also forgotten to do his shots before leaving the hotel room. Keith coming out with the bath mat around his waist had driven away the thought. His boyfriend hadn’t questioned why he’d packed heavier than usual. There was a whole suitcase of towels and bedding, waiting to be unpacked. His new plan was that after breakfast they’d unpack a little more, and he’d look up the directions to the cemetery where Keith’s dad was buried. The vampire knew his own pain from having now lost both his parents, yet that was nothing compared to Keith losing his dad at such a young age. Making the comparison seemed really shitty and like it lorded the fact Lance had had his parents for so long, that’s why he’d never say it out loud.
Their conversation was interrupted by the arrival of the coffee and the latte. Keith sliding both mugs towards him as Lance thanked “Dae”. Wrapping his hands around his cold drink, there was kind of a happy peacefulness as Keith took his first sip of coffee. This was nice. Them having no real schedule. Not rushing around. Kind of on a date, but not at the same time...
“Stop staring”
Chuckling, Lance moved his hand up to take the straw between his fingers, stirring his latte as continued to stare
“What are you going to do if I don’t?”
Kicking him under the table, that was Keith’s great comeback
“Really, babe?”
“Fuck you. Fight me”
It’d be soon long since he’d heard that one. The second they found out he was carrying, he had to behave himself and training went out the window
“I could beat you, but we both know you’d liked it”
Delivering the words slowly and purposely, Lance succeeded in making Keith choke on his coffee. Placing the mug down, his boyfriend coughed into his hand
“Fuuuuck...”
“Still want to fight me?”
“Keep this up and I’ll beat your arse so hard you won’t be able to walk for a month”
“Do you promise?”
On the back of choking on his coffee, Keith choked on air. His hand fanning his face as he shook his head
“You deserve to be punched in the dick for that”
“Nah. You love me too much for that”
“God. I fucked that one up”
Lance knew Keith was teasing, yet he felt himself automatically tear up. Apparently he could dish it, but his ego was too much of a diva to take it. Dropping his gaze to his drink, he felt awful for how he’d reacted
“Babe?”
“It’s nothing”
“You know I love you, don’t you?”
“Yeah. Sorry. I guess my hormones are being silly. It’s ridiculous”
Keith wisely decided not to agree with him, changing the topic
“What did you order?”
Raising his head again, Lance shot him that fake smile that hadn’t come out in so long that he wasn’t sure he was doing it right
“Pancakes. Eggs, tomatoes, bacon, sausages, and fried onion. Coffee for you. Tea for me, and fruit salad”
“You think that’s enough?”
Now he was feeling self conscious over how much he wanted to scarf down his food
“I figured you’d eat what I didn’t...”
Keith playfully kicked him under the table again
“Great. Now I’m the garbage disposal unit”
Shit. Why had his mood plummeted so much? Now it had, his ego was getting riled up. He was starting to feel vulnerable over being pregnant and into a strange place, where people he didn’t know could easily target him, or Keith. He couldn’t scent anyone like them in the place, yet he’d been so care free when they’d come in, he hadn’t thought to. The sudden shift to extreme vulnerability by his ego threw him off. They were a goddamn vampire. Had he been so inclined, he could easily take every single human on in the restaurant... Why was he suddenly so spineless? And why was his ego not propping his mood up with its usual douche attitude.
“Babe, you’ve gone pale. And you’re shaking. What’s wrong?”
He was shaking? He hadn’t noticed...
“Sorry. My ego... just went funny...”
Keith stared at him in confusion
“What do you mean?”
“I don’t know...”
He didn’t know. Was it not sure keith could protect them? No. Keith could and would go beyond them. Then why did it want him to run? All he wanted was a nice breakfast with Keith, so Keith wouldn’t be so stressed about what was to come...
Leaning across the table, Keith’s confusion grew. Cocking his head, he drew back slowly
“You feel like... you’re pushing everything away. If there’s something wrong...”
“I don’t know what’s wrong. I’m sorry”
Trying to let his ego flare a little, the instinct to run grew with it. Lance quick to force it back down. Maybe he’d been too focused on being home of late? No one had made any kind of threat towards him
“If you’re not feeling well, we can go back to the room”
“That’s not it. All of a sudden I got a spike of fear and I’m not sure why”
Keith pursed his lips, shook his head, then suddenly decided to move to sit next to Lance, a little too fast for Lance’s liking. Taking his hand in his, his boyfriend squeezed softly
“You don’t need to be scared”
Having Keith close should have calmed him, yet the spike of fear had spiked his anxiety over not knowing why he was kind of internally freaking out
“I know. All I wanted was a nice breakfast”
“We can still have a nice breakfast...”
“I’m so sorry. I know you’re stressing badly. This has to be so much all at once”
The restaurant was loud, despite it being breakfast time. Too many people seemed way too awake
“The glasses help. Do you want them?”
Yes. And ear plugs. Someone dropped something in the kitchen, Lance flinching at the sound as he shook his head
“No. No... it’s okay. I’ve been doing this longer than you have”
“Are you sure?”
“Babe, Ill be okay. It’s just weird... I don’t smell anything... bad. Maybe I’ve spent too much time hermitting”
“Or maybe people just suck?”
“Careful, babe. Your grump’s showing”
Keith huffed with a pout
“I’m not being grumpy”
“Fine, your lack of people love is showing. I hope breakfast doesn’t take too long”
“You need to eat more. You’re all skin and bones”
Lance’s ego chose to take the wrong way. He ate. Keith knew he ate. He couldn’t bring Keith’s mood down any further
“I’m going to. Your babies are demanding it”
Bring their hands to Lance’s stomach, Keith rested them there
“Already causing so much trouble. You two better give your dad a break”
“That’d be nice. I think the first thing they’re getting when they’re old enough is a trampoline”
“Why do I feel like you’re the one who’s going to be spending more time on it than them?”
“Because it’s nice to lay out under the stars?”
They hadn’t done that in so long... Maybe they’d get a chance while they were here?
“I wonder what sex would be like?”
And there Keith went stating the real reason he supported getting their kids a trampoline
“I’m not conceiving any future siblings on a trampoline”
Keith bumped his shoulder lightly
“There goes that idea...”
“I’m going to put you in a time out if you don’t get your mind out of the gutter”
“But without the gutter, my mind would be homeless”
Without missing a beat, the werewolf had him groaning
“Who taught you that one? They need to be shot”
Keith grinned, Lance kind of envious that no matter how upset Keith was internally, he was keeping his ego well under control. He should be proud. No. He was proud. He just wished his would perk back up
“Pretty sure I learned that from you”
Great. He couldn’t exactly shoot himself... though he’d definitely shot himself in the foot in the metaphoric sense
“You don’t want to listen to me. I’m going crazy in my old age”
“You’re not even that old”
“Older than you”
Keith put on that bad southern drawl that never failed to work on him
“And twice as pretty. A pretty little thing like you should be careful. A big bad wolf might just gobble you up”
“Nah, my boyfriend takes care of all the scary things out there”
“I could take him. They don’t call me the Mullet for nothin’”
Oh lord. That was terrible. That was terrible and Keith knew it was terrible
“Is it because you’re kinda fishy? A bit limp all dead eyed?”
“Why, miss. I’ve been told I’ve got the perdiest eyes around”
Lance let out a long groan of defeat. He didn’t feel safe, and as much as he didn’t want to feel amused, Keith’s stupidity was kind of turning his frown upside down
“Alright. No more. I get it”
“Do you feel any better?”
No...
“Yeah. I’m still staving, though”
“It won’t be too much longer... hopefully”
   *
Keith kept a careful eye on Lance once their breakfast finally arrived. Lance noticing, and responding by eating despite the lack of interest in the pancakes he’d wanted. It was hard to pretend to be happy. Everything felt too much for him, and having it all feel too much for Lance threw him.
Holding it together, the walk back to the hotel was brisk. Lance tried to shake him off to go to the bathroom alone, but Keith wasn’t having it. As Lance “threw” himself down to vomit, he slipped behind him, tugging off the annoying wig so he could rest his chin on Lance’s shoulder. His boyfriend was shaking, his skin felt a little colder than its above barely warm natural state. Having played breakfast over in his mind, he still didn’t know why Lance had spooked, or why his ego had drawn in. The only thing he could think of was that that woman’s words brought up Lance’s fear of giving birth soon. No one had said anything to his precious mate. No one had barely looked their way. No. Everyone else was too busy fucking chewing like a herd of cows. The noise infuriating now he’d noticed.
Staying with Lance until his stomach settled, his boyfriend wobbled on his feet as he stood. Keith had spent the time giving Lance belly rubs and trying smother him in his scent to calm him down. His own ego was rattled by their mates strange actions, making it almost mad at a situation where no one was to blame. Rinsing his mouth out, Lance stared at him in the mirror. He looked exhausted
“I’m sorry”
No. Lance had nothing to be sorry for
“Babe. Hey, it happens”
“I’m supposed to be the one in control here... and I freaked out for no real reason”
“It’s okay”
Lance didn’t know he was semi echoing Keith’s earlier movement as he kicked the basin cabinet lightly
“No. No it’s not. You’re stressed. You’re in a new environment. You’re being forced to go out with me when I look like this. And I couldn’t even keep my shit together long enough to enjoy being out to breakfast with you. It’s fucking pathetic. I should be past all this shit”
“You’re overthinking things again”
Sighing deeply, Lance went to grab his toothbrush out the toilet bag, only to knock the contents out. Sensing the impending tears, he turned his boyfriend towards him, gathering him against him
“Babe. Hey. It’s okay. I’m not mad and you haven’t done anything wrong”
Lance shook his head again
“I’m sorry... God. I feel so fucking incompetent”
Lance wasn’t incompetent. Keith ego saddened to hear their mate talk about himself like that. He wanted to make Lance smile again
“You’re not. Didn’t Dae say something about a fair?”
Again, Lance shook his head
“Sorry... I think I want to lay down for a bit... and I really need to pee. Can... can you get the blankets out the suitcase? They’re in the black one”
“And you’ll be okay?”
“I’m going to pee, then I’ll be out”
Kissing Lance’s hair, Keith found himself more anxious over Lance than the thought of seeing his father’s grave. Maybe Lance was more tired from the day before than he was letting on
“Alright. I’ll be waiting”
When Lance came shuffling out the bathroom, he made straight for Keith. Keith having covered the top of the hotel bed with their three blankets, the bottom one acting as the sheet between them and the crappy bedding below. Lifting the corner back, his boyfriend climbed in beside him. Shoes and all. Lance had to be dead tired to not fight him over his shoes, which had kind of become part of Keith’s daily job. Laying himself against him, Lance rested his head on Keith’s chest, arm snaking around him. Somehow the feeling that came to mind was akin to missing that bottom step and terror flooring you for a moment as your stomach dropped. When Lance started crying, Keith could only let him cry it out. He’d gotten used to Lance having more emotions than he thought possible for a vampire. Lance’s motto seemed to be “sometimes you just need to cry it out”. Still. It sucked. They were so far from their friends. So far from home... and the hard bit was yet to come.
    *
Falling asleep Keith, Lance carefully pried himself off his boyfriend. He felt safer for being in the hotel room, and disoriented from how hard he’d seemed to nap. Creeping to the bathroom, then back into their room, Lance mentally sighed to himself over his emotions. He was being so dumb. Keith needed him... None of this... he couldn’t break down now. Taking his phone off the bedside table, the vampire crept back into the bathroom. He’d already talked to Keith, explaining that he didn’t get what was going on at all... Yet he wasn’t sure that Keith believed him. His people hating boyfriend had offered to take him to the markets on for Easter. That wasn’t Keith’s thing. That was Keith grasping at straws and trying to find a way to make him happy again.
The call took a long time to answer, Krolia’s voice happy as Lance wondered if he was annoying her
“Hey, Lance! How are you?! Did you and Keith arrive safely, I swear that boy never thinks to let me know he’s okay”
They’d sent a message to group chat, and that was about it. With some small unpacking, they’d both been too tired for phone calls and any form of in-depth conversation
“Sorry, Krolia. Yeah, we got here okay. If this is a bad time, I can call back”
“No. Not at all. Is everything okay? I mean, I’m thrilled you called, but I’m confused as to why”
That stung a little. He hadn’t spoken to Krolia all that much since Keith turned...
“I won’t keep you long. I have a question, and I think you’re about the only one who understands what it’s like to be pregnant”
He would have turned straight to Mami if she’d been alive. He felt like he really needed that maternal support right now. Hearing her voice would have driven home she was safe and she would have teased him for being hopeless
“Shoot away! Are my two grandbabies giving you grief already? I can have a stern talking to them, if they are”
He wanted to reach through the phone and hug Krolia. Keith was absolutely amazing with him, yet he couldn’t fall pregnant. A small snort escaped without him meaning for it to
“They’re fine. Using my bladder as a trampoline and wriggling around in there. I... uh... I was wondering if when you were pregnant with Keith, if you ever felt... scared for no reason”
There was a pause. Lance grateful Krolia was taking the time to think about it
“Sometimes, yes. Especially in the line of work I do... Did something happen?”
So Krolia has only experienced fear when thinking of vampires and werewolves...
“We we’re having breakfast and all of a sudden I got scared. There was nothing there to be scared of. No one else who wasn’t human... but... I feel like I was too care free lately. I didn’t guard my scent. I didn’t think about what would happen had someone caught it. I didn’t think about bringing Keith here and what if there was someone like us here... I didn’t think about it... and I feel... like me not thinking about it is the same as me thinking Keith... is... something less than he was”
Starting to cry, he felt really very stupid for his tears. He treasured Keith. But he’d been running around trailing his scent after him without a thought of the impact. All he’d wanted was to get things done and settle his ego
“Lance, you love that idiot son of mine. I’m sure at the first hint of danger you would have reacted. Is Keith there with you?”
“He’s asleep... I’m sorry for calling... I would have turned to Mami, but...”
“No. No. I’m glad you called. I want to be there for the both of you. Yes, I was scared. But nothing like Keith’s father. The slightest thing and he wanted to rush me off to the emergency department. You’re under a lot of stress. Have you been...?”
Lance shook his head, then remember Krolia couldn’t see him shaking his head
“Not yet. I freaked out and Keith had to take care of me...”
“You’re nearing the end of the pregnancy. Fears happen. I know that all too well. Especially how the insomnia can play on your mind. You’ve both been through so much, and I heard from Curtis that you were looking forward to some alone time with Keith. My opinion is that you let Keith take care of you. He’s strong”
“He’s not that strong when it comes to his dad”
“No, but keeping it in will only make him worry more. He loves you. If anything were to happen to you... well, I feel sorry for whoever crosses you. I believe both of you would sense actual danger”
“How am I supposed to know the difference?!”
“You’ll know. Take these feeling of fear and ignore them. Push them aside. They’re useless. Focus on you and my grand babies. You should be safe there. Coran didn’t mention anything about anyone living there that you should be wary about”
Lance sniffled. Krolia hadn’t given him much of anything useful and it sucked... but she tried in her own way
“Thanks, Krolia. I’m going to go back to Keith now”
“No worries. Let me know how everything goes. You can call me. Anything you two need...”
“Yeah. I will. I... thanks for talking to me...”
“Anytime. I’m your mother too. You can come to me”
Coming out the bathroom, Keith was awake, meaning he’d heard some, if not all, Lance’s side of the phone call. Stopping a few steps into the room, he expected Keith to be angry at him for admitting he hadn’t thought of his precious boyfriend’s safety. He hadn’t thought of anything much when it came to the more important things he should have been almost paranoid about
“Babe... come here”
Holding his arm out, Lance caved instantly as he moved to climb into bed with Keith, his emotions getting the better of him as he started crying again. Krolia wasn’t Mami. She didn’t give advice like Mami did. The vampire craving that maternal touch, that Krolia had only taken the point off of
“That’s it. I’m here... I’m here, let it all out”
“I’m sorry”
Keith gentle ran his fingers through Lance’s hair, hushing him softly
“Shhhh... I’ve got you. I’m okay and you’re okay. It’s okay”
“I miss Mami”
“I know you do, babe. I know. Let it out... let it all out”
He was such a selfish boyfriend, yet Keith loved him anyway. He didn’t deserve the love he felt from Keith, but he did notice that together like this, the fear had mostly gone away. There really was no substitute for cuddles with Keith.

Words: 6.6k
Pairing: Prince!Jungkook x Tutor!Reader
All you remember from that night is:
           1. Jungkook kissed you and (could very highly, mightily, hopefully) is in love with you.
           2. He is not engaged (yet).
           3. You both fell asleep in your bed, but when you woke up the next morning he was gone.
The third one was not much of a surprise, but still didn’t ease the sting of it all. You haven’t seen Jungkook in 4 days, and though you want to just wander by the meeting room or try and find his office with an urgent message from Dae, you don’t. You had let yourself have enough of him, or so you tell yourself, you couldn’t take anymore of Jungkook and he couldn’t have anymore of you. You must let this little whatever it was go, it wasn’t good for you.
Jungkook was like every sweet thing, wonderful but also rotting your teeth.
But sitting out in the garden alone was different now. There was no wondering if Jungkook will show up or if you packed enough lunch for the two of you. You’ve reached the epilogue of Jane Eyre, but you cannot will yourself to read it, finally after all this time the guilt of reading without Jungkook has made it’s impression on you.
Though it is not nearly time for you to go back to the library, you begin to make your way there.
Maybe I can find a new book? Maybe that will make me feel better?
The large doors are left slightly ajar and you slip inside. You know that Dae is not here, wherever the prince is, she is probably there too.
You let yourself wander in between the shelves, never really had the chance to look at everything that was put up. You walk from one end of the shelves to the other, you climb up the spiraling staircase and begin your search again. You ghost your fingers over the book’s spines, your eyes glazing over the titles in hopes of finding something interesting. You stop and look up at the stacks and see a thin, light blue book. You reach for it but can’t quite grab it, you huff and step one foot onto the bottom shelf and push yourself up. Your fingers graze the book until you completely seize it, you smile, a small victory.
Then you feel your foot beginning to slip off the shelf, before you could step down, gravity had already made the decision for you. You feel yourself fall, shutting your eyes to brace the impact but don’t hit the ground, instead you are leaning on your heels as someone else supports you.
“You have to watch your footing,” You hear the person tell you.
You open your eyes and see Jungkook, just inches away from you. You feel your body relax in his touch for a moment, but immediately remember where you are, who you are, and who he is and stiffen and sit up.
“Thank you, Your Highness,” you tell him, slightly bow, and begin to walk out of the stacks. Your mind already ten feet ahead of you, trying to make your way back down the stairs.
“Y/N, WAIT,” Jungkook calls, you hear his boots clip as he makes his way towards you.
This is not happening. It is over.
You veer into the nearest stack and try to lose yourself and the prince in-between all of the bind together pages. You make a left and head straight, you turn right and another one, then you head towards any other direction you can think of. Jungkook eventually isn’t near you anymore, but that wasn’t enough for you. Coming across one of the ladders to help place the books on the wall shelves (could’ve used that earlier) you begin to climb it.
Suddenly hands are around your waist.
            “Sorry.” Jungkook says.
And pulls you off of the ladder, as your feet hit the ground, you try and make a run for it, but Jungkook has you blocked this time.
“Y/N” he says, and you can’t help but look up at him, and just like that all of those little pieces of you that have been breaking off little by little shuffle back into place. A good feeling, a familiar one, a very welcomed one brightens up your chest.
“Yes, Jungkook?” you ask him, your voice full of lightness, of ease, and you can’t help but feel just a little stupid.
Jungkook gingerly cups your face with his hands, his thumbs pressed against your cheeks as he looks into you. He leans in, but he doesn’t kiss you, he leans his forehead against yours, “I don’t think you know how much I miss you,” he tells you.
You scoff lightly, but pull him closer to you, “I think I could wager a guess.” You allow yourself you look through him, see what he doesn’t want anyone else to see. “Kiss me?” you ask.
Jungkook brushes his lips against yours until they finally meet, but only for a few seconds before he pulls away. You feel that dumb coin of hope becoming heavy again, you close your eyes and sigh loudly.
Jungkook is looking at everything but you, “The world has played a cruel joke on me,” you tell him. The prince looks back at you, “by letting me have just a taste of you, barely even a swallow,” you finish. You lean against the shelf, your head turned up to the ceiling, that stupid happy glow in your chest will not fade no matter what you try, no amount of logic can solve this problem.
Jungkook comes back to you, one hand fitting onto your waist and the other tipping your head back down to look at you properly. His eyes are filled with desperation and just a small glimmer of hope peeking through. His other hand mirrors his other, landing on your waist and pushes himself not quite flush to you.
Now is when how he smells hits you, a wonderful mix of leather and wood curls around your senses, pulling you deeper into him.
“Y/N,” Jungkook says, just barely above a whisper, his eyes still on yours, you listen intently. Not in fear that you will miss something, but because you want to remember it. You want to remember how he smells and how he tastes, how he feels with your back against a wall and him being the thing pinning you there. Jungkook leans his head against yours again, closes his eyes then reopens them, somehow staring even more intently into yours.
“Please, meet with me tonight,” he almost begs. You open your mouth but presses his lips to yours, hushing for a moment. He pulls away but does not take his gaze, “If you don’t wish to, I understand, but I too only have a taste of you,” He confesses.
“And I would like to be selfish too.”
“Y/N!” Dae called from below, “I’M BACK!”
You pull your hand up to look at your watch, it is fifteen past twelve, you were late for your own tutoring class. You slightly push Jungkook off of you, but not before he lightly take your hand, stopping you in your tracks and spinning around to look at him again. “Jungkook, I’m late and so are you!” you protest but he just smiles and kisses your hand.
Jungkook drops your hand and makes his way past you, but before he leaves you completely, he dips down to your ear and whispers, “If you do, meet me in front of library doors at midnight.”
            And the prince was gone.
-
“What country has yellow, green and red as the colors on their flag?” you ask Dae.
            “Lithuania.”
“What country’s flag has a large sun with 8 beams of light and a red background?”
            “North Macedonia.”
            “What about red and white?”
            “Monaco.”
“How about, oh, a tricky one, yellow and-“
“So, are we just going to act like my brother didn’t walk out of here then you appeared from the same place not even five minutes later or are we still going to treat me like I’m dumb?” Dae interrupts, her head propped up by her elbow, eyes observant and not lacking.
Your mouth pops open a little, “Uh,” you mutter and shake your head. “Nothing happened, Your Highness,” you tell her.
Dae sighs, “You’re a wonderful teacher,” she says, “But a terrible liar.”
You shake your head, smiling a little, trying to shake her off your trail but when you look at the young princess you see her leaning against her seat, waiting for an answer.
“You look like me when I ask you math questions,” you tell her.
            “Ha-ha, spill.”
You sigh, look around and set yourself down at the table with the princess, “So he’s-“
            “Tried to kiss you?”
            “No- I mean yes-“
“No? Yes? Those are opposites, Y/N you should know that.”
            “Yes, he’s kissed me and-“
            “HE’S KISSED YOU-“
You reach across the table and clap your hand on Dae’s mouth. “Sorry, but he kissed you?” she almost squeaks. “That’s so romantic,” she sighs dreamily.
Dae sits back up, “When?” she asks.
“He tried to kiss me at your party-“
“REALLY- oh, I mean, really? But he didn’t because you said try…” Dae trails off, “What happened?” she asks.
“Something with your father, a man, I guess the advisor came and got him,” you tell her, a little sad.
Dae’s face shrinks at the mention of her father, the air around her becomes cooler and more aloof. “Yes, he collapsed,” she tells, her eyes staring at the table. “So,” she says, looking back at you, “when did he kiss you?” she asks.
You run your hand through your hair, “four days ago.”
“And an hour ago,” The young royal teases.
            “Yes, and an hour ago.”
Dae laughs giddily to herself, her brother has a crush on her tutor. “So, what did you two do out in the garden?” She asks.
“I’d read to him,” you tell her. Dae’s face scrunches up in confusion.
Not the romantic picnic you were imagining, huh?
“You would read?” she asks, almost dumbfounded.
You nod, “Yes, we were reading Jane Eyre,” you tell her. “But now I can’t finish it.”
Dae looks at you strangely again, “You can’t finish your book?” she asks dramatically, “who are you and what have you done with my tutor?”
You cannot help but laugh a little, “Yes, I would like to know that too…”
It becomes quiet between the two of you, that warm glow from an hour ago has faded, but isn’t completely gone. Now it is your turn to look at the table, study the grain and the polish, try and figure out if it’s made of cedar or dark oak.
“You know, he is not engaged,” Dae tells you, you nod your head.
“I know, but he will be,” you tell her, not taking your eyes off the shiny table, “So I have to stop.” You tell, more to yourself than to the princess.
Another moment passes and Dae reaches over, grabbing your hand and squeezing it. You peel your eyes from the tabletop and look at her. “He wants me to meet him,” you tell her, Dae’s eyes grow wide.
“Then you must see him,” she tells you excitedly,
           “When?”
“Tonight, at midnight,” you tell, “But I’m not going.”
Dae looks defeated, as if this were her own battle she was losing. “Why?” she pleads.
“Because,” you start, “I’m not his and he is not mine, I can’t entertain myself with this stupid and ill-fated relationship anymore.” You say. “I feel like I’m just fooling myself into believing that something will happen, that fate or destiny or whatever you wish to call it has Jungkook in its plan for me, that we are meant to be with one another.”
“But that cannot be, Dae, it can’t. I am nothing more than a villager who tutors his little sister and he is the prince of Busan and it’s future king,” you tell her, tears threatening to fill your eyes, a now familiar sting.
Dae squeezes your hand with all of her might, “Even if fate doesn’t plan on you two being together, why should that stop you? Fate and destiny are just more rules that are meant to be tested, meant to be broken. Meet Jungkook, change your plans, you can be what we need.”
Dae looks at you with hope in her eyes, “Please, one of us deserves love, Y/N, let it be my brother.”
It all begins to click, the way she pined for Romeo and Juliet, why she only has a few friends, why she frowns at the mention of her father’s name.
“Are you engaged?” you softly ask, scared of what her reaction might be.
She stills for a moment, but nods. “Jungkook hasn’t been decided yet, since he is meant to be king, he must have someone fit for a queen-” she stares hard at you “so it takes time, apparently.”
“Y/N,” Dae says, not losing her focus, “Meet him.”
“And if you try to convince yourself that having him is selfish, then do it for me.”
-
You hold your breath as you leave your room at near 12. Your heart banging around in your chest sounded as if it would wake up the whole castle. The little note in your hand from the prince, you peek at it again before making your great escape:
Do not go through the main doors, pass through the east garden, it will lead to the south one, near the library. No guards will be there because they will be changing shifts.
           Please be quick, J.K.
Clutching the note and walking as quickly as possible towards the entrance to the east garden. Your socks pad softly against the stone floors before meeting the brick, and just as Jungkook had written, there were no guards patrolling the gardens as you dashed through.
Just as you made it past the south garden entrance, a guard set his place near the library doors and you immediately tried to hide behind one the pillars, closing your eyes.
Do not see me. Do not see me. Do not see me.
You hear footsteps beginning to approach your poor hiding spot, defeat settles in your chest just as well as heartbreak. Your breath completely halted in your chest, maybe if you stopped breathing, the guard just might go away-
“Excuse me.” A deep voice commands.
You open your eyes, slightly hoping for Jungkook, but it was in fact the guard. The guard looks you up and down, stopping at your socked feet then jumps back to your face.
“I assume you are who he is waiting for?” The guard asks, his voice softer now. You glance in the direction of the library doors, you nod. “Follow me please.”
The guard begins to move quickly and quietly opposite of the library, “Wait I thought-“ but the guard gives a look that makes you silent. It wasn’t harsh, it was just a “Do you want to get caught?” face. You follow as close as you can, your socked feet barely making sound on the smooth, cool marble flooring.
The guard leads you to a part of the castle that you’ve never seen before, you could only assume that you were near the living quarters.
            I’m going to his room?
You can hear your mother’s mantra in your head about how to keep boys from getting too close to you, but then you remember how good Jungkook felt on top of you, and how warm his kisses were, and that you wanted to do it all again.
The guard stops at one the doors on the left, turns to you and nods his farewell, leaving you alone with only a single door separating you from Jungkook. You lift your fist slowly and try to tap the door loud enough for him to hear, but not enough for the rest of the hall. Just as your hand falls back down to your side, the door swings open and reveals him.
The young prince looks a little shocked to see you in front of him, not because he did not believe you would not come but because he had convinced himself you won’t. Jungkook steps aside and gestures for you to come into the room, you nod and walk past him and into his bedroom as he closes the door.
You pad across the plush carpet, you could feel it even with your socks on, gawking at the large room. The bed looked like a sea, the grey and blue colors painted across the room gave a stark, cold air to it. As if no one had ever lived in this room before. You glance at the bed again and notice how it looks untouched, not even a night’s worth of sleep left in it. Your eyes scan the rest of the room, which branched out into another smaller one. This room was just as blue and grey as the other, but the desk in the middle of the room with piles of papers and pen left opened flat on top of a stack of folders. The bookshelves are disheveled, touched and pulled out. His office looked lived in, but with everything strung out, it was not happy.
“Is this where you hide?” you ask, turning to look over at Jungkook, who was already looking at you.
He smiles, “Only when I’m supposed to be sleeping.”
You walk further into the small office, Jungkook coming closer, leaning against the wall as he watches you gloss over the messy desk and the riddled shelves. You push one of the books back into their place, put some back onto the shelf just to make it look a little nicer. When you turn to look at Jungkook again, there is something different about his eyes, you could see something that he has been trying to hide for a while now, something you’ve already suspected.
“Your Highness,” you say, Jungkook looks at you, quirking an eyebrow at the sudden formality, “you seem lonely,” you tease, and he smiles.
“I was,” he tells you, pushing himself off the wall and walks to you until you feel his hands snake around your waist, “but not anymore.”
You press your face into Jungkook’s shoulder, hiding the glee that spreads across your face as he holds you. “Please look at me,” Jungkook requests, you gingerly lift your head from its hiding spot and look him in his eyes. Jungkook moves his hands to your cheeks and lightly presses a kiss to your forehead lightly before gently bumping his into yours.
You stand on your tip toes and press your lips against his, Jungkook response with a small gasp and kisses you back. Your hands move to grip the back of his shirt as his reach into your hair, getting tangled up in it. Jungkook turns you both slightly and presses you against the desk. Your hands move from his back to his waist, pulling his closer to you if that were even possible. Jungkook moves his hands from your hair, he only stops kissing you for a moment as he places his hands underneath your thighs and lifts you up.
Your hands move positions again to hang around Jungkook’s neck as he picks you up and kisses you again. He slowly makes his way back to his ocean of a bed. Jungkook lays you down on the sleek satin cover, leaving your lips and trailing down your neck, nipping and lightly skipping across your skin. One of his fingers slip underneath the neckline of your shirt and slide it off your shoulder. Jungkook begins to leave hickeys from your jaw to top of your now misplaced top.
Jungkook’s hands shuffle underneath your shirt, grabbing your bare waist. His thumbs massaging small circles on your hipbone. You let out a small whine, Jungkook response with pulling the other part of your shirt down and showering it with more hickeys, it’s not until you have to place your hands on his head and maneuver his mouth to yours. Jungkook quietly groans into your mouth as you feel pressure against your thigh, you lift your hips up to push back, getting another groan from the prince.
Jungkook pulls back from your mouth and presses right into you, your mouth drops open slightly. You watch as he begins to unbutton his shirt, slowly rolling the clothing off his shoulders and past his toned arms. The prince smirks at you, “I think it’s your turn.”
You lift your hips again, this time Jungkook’s mouth drops open, you push a little more and he hisses. You trail your fingers up and down your torso before starting at the bottom of your shirt. Slowly making your way up to the top of your shirt before letting your arms rest at your sides, leaving the choice of having all of you up to the prince. Jungkook sighs in satisfaction at your body, bringing his hands to your sides, his fingers gliding across your skin, causing your skin to pebble. He traces his nose down the middle of your chest down your stomach, leaving open mouth kisses has he goes.
You feel his thumbs loop at the top of your pants, you lift your hips slightly, giving him the signal to take them off. You feel Jungkook’s hands brush down your legs until you are only left with only a few pieces of clothes left between the two of you. He kneels down and kisses up both of your legs, his fingers digging into your thighs. As he meets the apex of your thighs, you lift your hips to get him closer, but Jungkook pushes you back down. He hovers at the thin fabric before placing a kiss on your thigh and pressing his cheek against your inner thigh.
“Y/N,” he calls softly, his hands loosen on your hips as you sit up. Jungkook stays in between your thighs as you bring your hands and cradle his head. The young prince looks at you, eyes shiny and dark, “I want to, I do, but I-” he says, his nose turning a twinge pink. You feel your own eyes begin to sting a little, tears pricking at your lashes.
You begin to shush him, wiping any stray tears away from his face,  “It’s okay, it’s okay,” you tell him. “We don’t have to do anything,” you keep telling him.
“I didn’t just want to sleep with you, I wanted to have you stay, be here with me for a night,” Jungkook tells you.  “I’ve been so lonely, but when I’m with you it’s like that emotion was never introduced to me,” He says, leaning against your thigh.
Jungkook squeezes his eyes shut, breathing in quick before saying, “I tried to do things without you.” His tears streaming down his face, “I tried to read without you, but it’s not the same,” he tells you. “Nothing is the same anymore, now that I know you are so close but so far has me going out of my mind.”
“I don’t think I’ll ever get enough, and I don’t think I’ll ever want too,” he tells you, his voice small but now steady. Jungkook looks up at you, wide and pleading, “Please, tell me you feel the same?” he begs.
You feel your heart hammering against your chest again, the prickling of tears begins to fall as you nod. “Yes, of course I do,” you tell him, “so much so that it kind of scares me.”
Jungkook stands up and pulls you with him, holding you close. You can feel his tears, but also his smile as he keeps you close. He pulls away, buttons up your shirt, and kisses you softly. “Can you finish the book?” he asks you and nod, wiping a tear from your eye. You both climb into the large bed, Jungkook picks up a book on his side table and hands it to you. “I’m at the epilogue,” he tells you as he pulls you into his side, your head against his shoulder as you flip to the last few pages of Jane Eyre.
You smile a little to yourself, a little pride in knowing that he stopped where you did.
“Reader, I married him. A quiet wedding we had: he and I, the parson and clerk, were alone present.”
-
You snoozed quietly next to Jungkook, your breath coming out in short puffs. Your hair layer across his pillow case as he gazed at you just as the sun light began to fall into his room. He picks up some of your hair and curls it around his finger, then letting it drop.
He felt full. Full of light. Full of love. Full of joy. He felt as if a strong breeze came in through the window, he might just get swept away in it.
But Jungkook wouldn’t mind if the roof came caving in, just as long as you were with him.
An abrupt knock at the door, “Your Highness,” Advisor Beomseok says, Jungkook’s heart immediately plummeting to his feet. He nearly flips out of his bed and runs to his bedroom door, flinging it open to reveal the older man.
“As you know-” Beomseok begins to say, making his way into the room, Jungkook rest his arms on the door frame, blocking him out. Beomseok looks at the prince with confusion, “Your Highness,” he says, “We need to discuss this, just because you have another party in your room doesn’t mean we cannot discuss this,” He tells the younger boy.
Jungkook shakes his head, “I’d rather talk about it right here,” he tells the advisor.
“Jungkook.”
“Yes?”
“Move. Now.”
Jungkook doesn’t lower his arms and shakes his head. “Beomseok,” he begins “Father will kill me.”
“For sleeping with someone, he’s never cared why would he care now?” The older man asks, confused by what should be a familiar situation.
“Because it’s-” Jungkook stops himself and sees the realization hit Beomseok.
“It’s that tutor, Princess Dae’s tutor.” Beomseok says, Jungkook watches as the older man begins to process what has just happened and how the king will handle this situation. Beomseok rubs the bridge of his nose, right underneath where his glasses sit. “Put on clothes, go to the morning meeting,” he looks at his watch “you’re late.”
Jungkook sighs and goes to get dressed, your eyes just now beginning to flutter open.
“Oh no,” Jungkook hears you whisper as you bolt up out of the bed. “I need to go, I have to go to library and I have to find shoes and-”
“You will follow me, Y/N, back to your room,” Beomseok says, now stepping into the room.
Jungkook looks at you, you are already looking at him, confusion laced in your eyebrows.
“You will also not be seeing the princess today,” The advisor tells you, Jungkook looking sharply at him.
“Why can’t they go to work? Dae is-”
“Dae is also staying in her room today, and you are late so go.”
Jungkook narrows his eyes and lets out a long sigh. He proceeds to go to his bathroom and get changed before having to leave. Leaving his bathroom and entering his now empty room, he can feel how shallow and light the room itself feels without you in it.
-
After the morning meeting, Beomseok was standing at the door waiting for Jungkook, “I assume father wants to see me?” he asks the older man and he nods. Jungkook begins to follow the advisor down the familiar path to his father’s chambers. The guards let Beomseok and Jungkook through, opening the large double doors. The king’s room was built like one, large and too much for one man, especially one that can almost incapable of getting out of bed. Beomseok stays by the door, avoiding what is about to happen, as Jungkook heads forward. As he rounds the corner, expecting to see his father in bed, he sees Dae sitting on the edge of it, staring at her shoes.
The prince glances at the shut sliding doors, an office just like in Jungkook’s room, is where their father is hiding. Dae looks up at her older brother, “do you know what this is about?” she asks him.
Jungkook raises his eyebrows a little, “Dae,” he says, “you know what this is about.”
The doors to the king’s office slides open, revealing a guard and him gesturing the two royals to come in. As Jungkook and Dae come into the office and sit down in the chairs, the door closes, the guard on the other side.
King Mal-chin sits in his chair, even now at what is apparently near death, Jungkook still fears his father. Jungkook can’t point out why, the man that his father once was is gone, the one who would always knew how to make you feel smaller than a grain of sand. That man is lost in between his visible ribcage and translucent skin. Mal-chin does not look strong sitting in his chair, it looks the piece of furniture just might swallow the man whole.
It is quiet for a long moment, Mal-chin looking between his children and the windows. Dae scoffs under her breath and rolls her eyes, “If you’re not going to speak, I’m just going to leave,” she tells him, standing and picking up her dress.
“Sit down, Dae,” Her father tells her, Dae sets back down and as gracefully as possible, has an attitude.
“What is it that I have to say?” The king asks, looking at Jungkook then at Dae.
“Well, let me see, Jungkook, for someone who is about to be king, you are obviously too irresponsible,” The king begins to dig into the prince. “You were late to the meeting this morning, you’ve been ending meetings early to be with this person, you have been fooling around with them whilst we look for you a new queen and all you have been is selfish, Jungkook.”
“But last night was it, you invited them into your room, you did god knows what. Did you know that they are from one of the poorest villages? Which means they had to fight everything and person to even breath in the direction of our kingdom’s walls? And now because you can’t keep yourself in check, we have to send them back.”
Jungkook and Dae both suck in a breath, Dae feels her eyes begin to prickle with tears.
Jungkook stands, “Send them back? They didn’t do anything, it was all me-”
“Jungkook, you and I both know that it wasn’t just you,” Mal-chin says coolly, “You involved any person you two had contact with, the guards in the garden. Those who were switching shifts last night, the one that escorted them to your room, you dragged Dae into this, you’ve dragged Beomseok into this,” Mal-chin continues to scold his son.
Dae watches as her father tears open every scratch and mark on Jungkook, telling him that he’s selfish, that he wasn’t ready to be king, that he’s wrong for wanting someone.
“Jungkook didn’t drag me into anything, Jungkook wants to be happy,” Dae exclaims from her seat.
           “Dae, you need to be-”
“I don’t want to be anything you say, I don’t want to be here, I don’t want Jungkook to be unhappy, I don’t want my tutor to leave, I don’t want to be engaged,” Dae says, standing up from her seat.
“I want to be in the library, studying countries flags and Shakespeare and I want to find the best dresses for the most simplest of occasions, I want my king to act like one, I want my father to act like one, I want my mother, I want someone in the this damn family to be happy and I’m okay with it not being me, but do not make Jungkook be that way too.”
“I don’t remember much of mother but what I do is with you, and how she blush when you called her pet names, and how she smile after a kiss, or how your eyes would light up at the mention of her or of us, how you would always kiss her good morning and goodnight and that what I see when I look at Jungkook and my tutor.”
The room is silent except for Dae as she keeps going.
“I see how he looks at them, I know when he thinks about them, I see it in my tutor as well, how they always are checking their watch over and over again until 11 so they can meet in the south garden. Just let them be happy.”
Jungkook looks between his father and his little sister, “Well,” his father says, “Do you love them?”
The question hangs in the air for a moment, finally being said and not danced around like it always has.
           “Yes. I do.”
-
“Y/N,” a person says behind the door, “King Mal-Chin has summoned you.”
You open the door and see the man from before, Advisor Beomseok, he still seems distant and a tad bit cold. You nod your head as you slip out of your room and begin to follow the advisor down and out of this side of the castle. He led you through the main structure and down past the library, you thought that you were going to King Mal-Chin’s bedroom, but you instead ended up in another garden, you assume the north. This garden was smaller and more intimate than the other gardens, the trees seemed to be bigger, older, and the flowers and bushes were well trimmed and somehow looked better than the other gardens plants. You see an older man, a little older than Beomseok, sitting on one of the benches.
           King Mal-Chin.
You had only seen the king from a distant, just like the rest of the royal family, but it wasn’t the royal awe that had you struck dumb, it was how similar Jungkook and Mal-Chin looked alike. The nose, strong jaw, his ears, even his hands.
“Your Majesty,” Beomseok bowed, you followed his lead.
“Thank you, Advisor Beomseok,” The king said, not looking up at either of you, his eyes firmly on the flowers in front of him. Beomseok bows again and then leaves, leaving nothing but a few feet of space and pollen between you and the king.
“Your Majesty,” you address and bow again, he now glances up at you and you feel your heart still. You were grateful to notice that the king and Jungkook don’t have the same eyes, where Jungkook’s were soft and reassuring, Mal-Chin’s were hard and knowledgeable.
“You may sit, Y/N,” he tells you, lightly tapping the space next to him on the stone bench. You lightly perch yourself on it, almost sitting on the edge, not wanting to offend him in anyway. You stare at the same flowers as him, trying to see what was so fascinating about them, what had them so special.
“My son is in love with you.”
You look over at him, still looking at the flower bush. It wasn’t a question, it was a statement, it was fact. You felt yourself begin to glow, just like you had always before when Jungkook was mentioned.
“My son is also the future king,” Mal-chin tells you, now moving his glassy eyes to yours, you couldn’t tell but you assumed that he was looking through you, or at least trying to see something, a red flag, an alarm, a “DO NOT ENTER” sign.
“My daughter, your student, Princess Dae is also very fond of you, she tells me that you also love my son too,” he tells you. “Is that true? Do you love him?” he asks you, his full attention on you now.
You stay silent for a moment and nod your head, “Yes, I do,” you tell the king, his expression does not change.
“What do you love about him? Is it his power? His ability to lead? The money?” The king asks. You feel your eyebrows knit and knot, your mouth twist to the side, you have to keep yourself from standing as you begin to speak.
“I love that he listens, that he cares, I love how much he loves Dae, I love that he’s always trying even when everyone tells him to stop, even when I thought he couldn’t ever love me, I still loved him, when I felt that I was just getting myself into some messy affair, I didn’t back down, even when I wanted too.” You almost huff.
“I love how he’s always there for the people, even when they call him selfish, even when they think he’s unqualified, he still gets up and shows that he is more than qualified. I love your son just as much, if not more than, I love my future king,” You keep pushing, your fist bawling up against you thighs, a familiar sting touches your eyes, but you keep going.
“I couldn’t care less if he were a prince or a king or just some farm hand, because he’d be the same, I would still feel like I could burst if he were from the same place as me.” You finish, after fighting it one little tear slips out. You don’t wipe it away; you keep your eyes on the king as he does you. His face is unreadable as he stares back at you for a moment, before blinking slowly and nodding his head. A small smile traces his lips as the king reaches for your cheek, wiping the tear from your face.
“I believe you, my dear,” he tells you with a soft voice, one that become familiar the moment you hear it, you feel your lips quiver as you begin to cry a little more.
“Thank you,” you tell him, “Thank you, Your Majesty.”
-
Hands and laces of ribbon and tulle fly and zoom around the room as you stand with Dae as she places a crown on your head. “Turn around a look at yourself, Y/N,” she tells you, you shuffle around to look at yourself in the tri-folded mirror. Your eyes begin to water as you trace the detailing up and down your body, the crown on your head and what will happen within a few minutes.
“Okay, lets go, you only get to marry a king once,” one of the maidens tell you as she helps you down from the pedestal. Dae carries your train of white fabric behind you as you and your group glide down the hall and past the library. Large vases full of flowers decorate the south garden entrance and the talking crowd inside become easier to hear with every step. Your party is lined up and the crowd inside hushes has the organ begins to play, you can hear the creaking of the seats as friends and family turn to look as your friends glide down the aisle. The glow in your chest only gets brighter and brighter as you inch up in line, and then you see Jungkook standing at the end of the aisle. You watch as he takes in a breath as you begin to descend the aisle, you are holding your own as you get closer and closer.
When it’s time for vows, you are handed a familiar book, you open to the last few pages and read: “Reader, I married him.”

Parkson Mystery
Kate Denson x Jake Park
word count: 1,457
summary: none of Kate’s fans know how she met him. she was single one day, and had him all over her feed the next. they tried digging into his past and discovered he was working on Wall Street, until his digital footprint all but vanished, only again popping up on the internet’s radar when the songbird he spent so much time around made their relationship public. this is the true story of how america’s sweetheart and the mystery mogul first met... and then some.
a/n: I had so much fun writing this! this story was originally posted on the DBD Amino. imma be completely honest w u, I have NOT been a fan of Kate. I like using Boil Over when in swf and I enjoy the Horse Gorl™️ vibes but like. idk. ANYWAYS. as I wrote this story I actually made a bunch of personal headcanons and can now say, Parkson is an official ship for me! I can totally vibe w the dynamic they have in my head <3

Jake Park wasn’t ashamed to admit he’d picked up a taste for country music after having an existential crisis; in fact, he wasn’t even ashamed to admit he’d become an avid fan of Kate Denson - not a stan, though. Sure, he followed her on his private Instagram, but that wasn’t to lurk on her sexy photoshoot pictures, it was just to keep track of release dates for her albums. Granted, it never is hard to admit things when you don’t have friends to admit them to in the first place.
Every now and then he’d wonder if he should stop being such a stiff and just call one of his old work buddies for a steak dinner, but a quick scroll through their text history would remind him why he left the world of Wall Street behind to begin with. Materialism pales in comparison to the simple things in life, he’d tell himself. His baser instincts had always told him life wasn’t meant to be complicated, which is why he shoved those instincts down for years.
But Kate’s music - the songs of America’s sweetheart - reminded him of what an uncomplicated life was. Hard, rewarding work all day, and well-deserved rest at night. So much more peaceful than the never-ending rat race of the big city. Her music spoke to his soul in ways nothing ever had before, calmed his spirit. It made him realize how lost he was. So, he ditched the concrete jungle in favor of the real deal. Now all he ever dreamed of was thanking the young star who set him on fire again, giving him a new lease on life.
When he heard she was touring in his city, he felt excitement seeping into his very essence. Finally, the chance he’d been hoping for. He supposed she would be bashful, tell him he did more to turn his life around than she did. She gave off that vibe, at least. But Jake knew the truth, and he hoped he might find a kindred spirit in her. He pulled out an old business suit, perfect for a rare night on the town, brought his expensive car out of the garage acting as its tomb, and purchased a VIP ticket.
He was the last person in line. When he got to the front, he was almost speechless at the sight of her - almost. He managed to get out, “Miss Denson, your music saved my life.” The star laughed shyly, like she was used to a different kind of person saying those words to her. Probably fourteen, wearing braces, just having gone through their emo phase before getting back in touch with their roots. All the kids go through them these days, after all. Even a little cousin of Jake’s did a few years back. While he pondered this, he couldn’t help but also ponder how her laugh sounded like wind chimes. How is it that musicians always sound so magical?
As Jake mused, Kate said something he couldn’t quite hear and began to walk away with her security detail, agent in tow. “Wait!” He called out, and she turned back to face him. He could tell her agent was thinking he was just a crazed country boy super fan. “What if I told you that your music is the reason why I walked away from Wall Street?”
Kate smiled, a little confused. “I’d say that explains the accent. What’s your name, mister...?”
“Park. Jake Park, to be exact, but you can call me Jake, if you’d like.”
She laughed again, this time with confidence unlike before, demeanor changing from wary to businesslike. Or... something else. Jake couldn’t quite place it. “Well, Jake, I have a burning question for you: Why would my music make you give up a career like that?” She broke away from her entourage to come closer.
“We could discuss it over dinner, if you’d like?” Jake offered, the old swagger from his uptown days making a guest appearance. Sure, he wasn’t working numbers under uppity snobs to get a bigger Christmas bonus anymore, but he still knew how to play poker. If Kate’s eyes were of any indication, his gut told him he may have just been dealt a winning hand.
Kate accepted before her agent could intervene or protest, his eyes turning into slits. Probably worried Jake’s background with money and marketing could put him out of a job. Maybe he was right. “I’d love to get to know my most interesting fan. Might as well put that Wall Street money to use, huh?”
“Sure thing, darlin’.”
Tumblr media
Since that day, their relationship as business partners, friends, and eventually more, blossomed. Kate dropped her greedy agent and management team for the generous man who became her best friend. Jake used his book smarts and savvy money skills to help lower Kate’s touring costs, made her performances more accessible to *all* of her fans, and helped her rake in extra profits from her music releases *and* with cheaper marketing. She spent less time in the studio and more time with him on their back porch as he sat and listened to her beautiful creations.
Truth be told, meeting Jake helped save Kate. Her old team had been stripping the life from her creativity, pushing for numbers rather than quality content. Having Jake work with her personally made everything so... simple. Working from home when making music, waking up to the sun dappling her skin through the the leaves of the trees, feeling the breeze on her face and his kisses on her fingers - it put the inspiration back into her music.
Her fans seemed to notice too, and they seemed to get a kick out of her sharing more about her life online, making theories about their relationship. Jake and Kate would scroll through the subreddit comments and laugh at the crazy ideas everyone had. Jake hadn’t laughed like that with someone in a long time. He hadn’t had a sense of humor in a long time, either.
When his family came calling, lecturing him about dropping his old career and this and that, he invited them over for dinner... and showed them that his and Kate’s retirement funds were already completed when she wasn’t looking. Their qualms ended after seeing the financial security they had, and seeing how calm Jake’s home life was. Sure, it was a strange change, but for once, Jake was happy, and seemed fulfilled. They didn’t always understand everything, but they understood enough.
Eventually, they visited Jake’s family in Korea, had their quiet wedding, nothing crazy, just something for family and close friends and nice rings, and did some remodeling with their own bare hands to create a cute nursery, complete with musical instruments and stuffed animals. When the delivery date came, Jake was a mess. He knew his wife would handle it like a champ, but his nerves were still through the roof. The labor came and went easily, and they came home with a beautiful baby girl.
“What are you going to call her?” Kate’s mother cooed as she obsessed over the newborn.
“Jake was thinking Yu-Hwa, and I was thinking Grace. He said I could have the first name if he had the middle name.” Kate mused. Jake was outside working on building a playground for their daughter. He’d insisted on getting an early start, arguing that his mother said time flies when raising a baby, no matter that their child was only a week old.
“Grace sounds beautiful. It matches your names, too. Oh, I’m going to have *so* much fun spoiling this little girl!” The new grandmother whisper-squealed, not wanting to wake the baby. “When are you going to have more?”
Kate laughed. “I told you mom, we just want the one.”
“For now.”
“For *forever,* mom.”
“What’s this about another child?” Jake asked, announcing his presence.
“Just Grama Denson getting a bit too ahead of herself.” Kate rolled her eyes.
Jake casually wrapped his arms around Kate, planting a kiss on her forehead before heading to the fridge to steal some lemonade. “I mean, between you and me, eomma, I wouldn’t mind making another baby, long as they keep turning out this cute.”
Kate gave him a quick flick to the forehead before he could dodge it. “Stop conspiring against me with my mother, sir. It takes two to tango.”
Tumblr media
When the playground was finished, Kate did, in fact, gain another baby bump, watching happily as her husband helped their first waddler play outside. Grace Yu-Hwa Park and Dae-Hwan Lee Park, DaeDae for short, were lucky enough to have the best dad, Kate thought. Jake looked up at her, glowing in spite of the autumn cold, and thought the same thing.

what is your headcanon on Tae Eul's parenting style?
Okay, finally got to this! This was really fun to think about because I didn’t have as many thoughts about how Tae-Eul would be as a mother in contrast to Lee Gon as a dad...I kinda struggled. So everyone, please feel free to add more headcannons and tell me how you see Tae-Eul as a mother, I’d love to hear it!
Here are some of mine:
She surprises herself when she finds herself using a “baby voice” when the kids are born, she had always thought it was…pointless but it just automatically comes out, she sings silly songs and coos at them a lot.
She adapts to motherhood really easily, she never thought she was the mothering type but her husband points out that she treated Eun-Sup like a little child and is so soft with him so he expected it (the way she interacted with him when she visited him in the hospital gives such good older sister vibes).
She wouldn’t put the twins down when they were young, she constantly wanted to hold them and look at them. It just made her so happy.
She wants to do everything herself, she wants to be the one to change their diapers, feed them, bathe them, dress them, play with them, pat them to sleep – she refuses all help at first but finds herself grudgingly agreeing to Lady Noh’s suggestion to ask for help when she starts attending to her duties as Queen again. A part of her wanting to do everything stems from the fact that she is afraid something might happen to her like it did to her mother – she doesn’t remember her mother much and feels that her children should know she loved them and cared for them SO much if something ever happens to her. She confesses this to Lee Gon after her first “overwhelmed mother” moment and they both just spend the whole night talking about their respective childhoods growing up without (a) parent(s).
She cries like a baby when the first word the twins say is eomma, like literally breaks down into tears in front of them because she’s so overwhelmed with how much she loves them, and they freak out and start patting her face and kissing her like they see their dad do when their mom cries – this makes her cry even more. Lee Gon tries to make her stop crying by whining that they should have said appa first (he has been lowkey practicing the word with them every time Tae-Eul leaves him alone with them). She of course whacks him and says she knows all about how he has been bribing them with kisses and hugs to say appa first.
She has eyes at the back of her head and tries to be the strict parent who does most of the disciplining because her husband has a hard time with it at first. The kids just had to pout at him and he’d cave. She found it a lot easier – she does that thing often where she just sits on the floor anywhere and tells them both to sit in front of her and lectures them or makes them apologize to each other when they fight (like she did when Eun-Sup and Jo Yeong met). She’s really good with just staring and getting them to talk and tell her everything. It doesn’t change as they get older.
She watches the twins in secret when they’re up to no good – like pouting at the maids to get cookies – she’ll stand by the door and nod when the maid looks up at her with a what do I do look because she knows they’ll find a way to get the cookie no matter what – they were great at team work, one of them would push the chair to the counter and the other would use it to step onto the counter to get cookies and then pass it to the one holding the chair.
She’s a super calm mother – she’s learnt that they’ll throw tantrums and act out, she listens to their side, acknowledges their feelings and gives them time to cool down before she talks to them about it. She never yells but her soft I am disappointed voice is much worse than yelling. Lee Gon thinks it’s scary.
She’s “mama bear” to an extreme and Lee Gon finds the way she gets riled up whenever anyone says anything about their children so endearing, like he’ll watch her with a smile on his face as she vents about it. She’s always been against his quiet buying out of media outlets that speak against her - but she demands he do it when one of them starts printing conspiracy theories about the twins not really being Lee Gon’s because Seo-Joon looks so different from them (and more like his father as a baby) – she knows they might hear about it from somewhere and it’d hurt their feelings. She also glares at other kids who are mean to her children – not that many of them dare.
She now wants to be surrounded by guards when she goes out with the children in contrast to dreading having to take them everywhere before she had children. The public is obsessed with them and always wants to touch them which scares her. In-Na loves the attention and Dae-Hyun hates it, and Seo-Joon really hates it and just cries…but that’s not unusual.
In her children’s eyes, she can fix anything – be it a broken toy, a boo-boo, or just when they’re feeling sad. They’ll come to their mother and just curl up into her. They all think she smells comforting and gives the best hugs and kisses.
She’s always playing with them – be it sports or playing with toys. Her and Lee Gon have waterfights with the twins, all of them running around the palace with water guns (while Lady Noh yells about the priceless furniture). Tae-Eul always wins (she teams up with one of the kids to get Lee Gon first) before declaring “each man for themselves” and turning on the kids while laughing. They also play Hide-and-Seek, which is her favourite when the children are little because they suck at hiding and giggle way too much.
She teaches them taekwondo and literally melts into a puddle of goo every time she sees them in their little uniforms.
She’s just super involved, and super loving.

part 32 | loser baby playlist drabble: ghost town taglist: @xxxanimangxxx @hannahdinse8 @scarredbytheworld @strapsforyoonie @sunrisemcp @chogiyeol-utopia
“time was thrown at the wind and all of my friends have been disaffected. now, i'm searching for trust in a city of rust a city of vampires. tonight elivs is dead and everyone's spread and love is a satire.”
- yn had tried to preoccupy herself with other things to avoid going to the graduation. she knew it would hurt too much to watch seokjin walk the stage knowing they weren't friends, but she'd underestimated the guilt she'd feel for not going. that's how she found herself panting in the doorway just in time to see him walk. she slipped out before the graduation ended but jin hadn't missed her entrance, he knew all hope wasn't lost for their friend.
that's why when jin saw yn waiting for the train, heidi in her arms, he wasted no time making his way over to her. unfortunately he wasn't the only one who had something to say to the girl who really only wanted to be left alone, before jin had the chance to speak jaesun was shoving yn's shoulder back, catching the attention of some of the students there to catch the train.
"Excited to go home and spend some quality time with all your loyal friends and family?" jae teased making his friends laugh like what he'd said was actually funny. jin rolled his eyes at how ammusing jaesun found himself to be.
"Just leave her alone Jae. You've graduated, what's the point in messing with her anymore?" jin's voice caught yn off guard, she hadn't noticed his presence yet and now that she had her heart was beating a lot quicker like it always did when she'd get near any of her friends since that day in the library.
"Damn Jinnie, it looks like she hates you more than she does me." jae teased looking between the two former friends curiously. he'd wondered what exactly happened between yn and her little group of friends but he'd never admit it. he knew it must have something to do with her finding out about her parents but the details of the situation he was clueless on.
"I don't care enough about you to waste my energy on hating you." yn said calmly to her bully, her words making jin's heart leap at the implication that she at least did still care about him. over the last few weeks yn had been alone for the most part besides her cat which gave her plenty of time to think and study and then think some more. she had decided that it was pretty likely that yoongi had been telling the truth when he said he didn't know, she believed jin regretted what he did, she believed jeongguk thought he was protecting her. the only thing she wasn't so sure of was whether she could forgive the later two or not, she didn't know if she could ever trust them again. looking at jin right now made it clear that she wouldn't know anything for sure until she spoke to her aunts. she needed the full story from someone who was actually there.
"I wanted to fuck with you one last time but this sad, lonely energy you've got is just bumming me out, it's not as fun when you're already miserable." yn wondered if jae ever actually heard the things that came out of his mouth. he had to be one of the stupidest guys she'd ever met. watching him walk off she never realized she'd miss his presence until she found herself standing alone with jin, hardly able to look him in the eyes.
"I know that I'm the last person you want to see, I just wanted tell you how sorry I am for everything,"
"You already did, Jin. Apologies mean nothing when you can't back it up." yn said bitterly. she had avoided speaking to anyone for this reason alone, she knew she'd lash out. but maybe this is what she needed.
"I know, I wish there was some way for me to make it up to you. I see you alone everyday and it breaks my heart because I know that if I had just told you from the moment you got here it could've been avoided." jin knew he was getting repetitive, it was hard not to. all these things he'd only been able to say over text and they just didn't feel as meaningful as saying it in person. "I know it's not my place but I do think you should talk to someone, like Jimin or Tae shit even Hoseok. They miss you so much and I just think everyone needs someone to talk to when shit gets rough."
"Look, I know you didn't mean for things to turn out the way they did, I appreciate the apology. Just, please don't tell me how to deal with my pain. I miss my friends like crazy but I physically can't talk to anyone right now without blowing up so until I learn to deal with my emotions better it's just in everyone's best interest if I stick to myself." jin hadn't even thought about it that way. he wondered how hard it must be to have that much power and not know how to control it sometimes.
"You're right, I'm sorry I overstepped." jin glanced back, hearing the train coming up in the distance. "I just, I wanted to say that I'm glad I met you. My parents always told me stories growing up about their friendship with yours and Jeongguk's parents. I never really had friends growing up so I think I always fantasized about meeting the two of you and us becoming friends like them. I'm sorry I ruined it. I'm sorry I ended up hurting you."
-
yn felt a little uneasy being back in her hometown. if she was honest, this place had only ever felt like home because of the jeon's, now she just felt empty. she wondered if jeongguk was home right now or if they'd all gone somewhere after they picked him up from the station. she missed that, having a family that seemed to care, but then she reminded herself that they'd lied to her her entire life. yn needed answers and she knew the only people she could get them from were her aunts, so as much as she wanted to avoid them all month she knew she couldn't.
"I'm home." yn called as she walked through the door heidi jumping out of her arms almost immediately to run to her room. "At least someone's happy to be here."
"I thought that was you, Dae, Yn's home!" the younger, and nicer of the two aunts words were jumbled as she pulled yn into a hug. "Just leave your bags here for now darling, I want to hear everything! First year is so exciting!"
"Let the girl breathe Jooyeon, we both know she's had quite the year." yn had to refrain from rolling her eyes at the dull sound of her aunt Daeyeon's voice. of the two she was the one yn had always butted heads with, yn could tell from a young age that her eldest aunt resented her.
"We agreed we were going to wait to talk about that." jooyeon said eyeing her sister, clearly not pleased with how cold she was already being towards their niece.
"Why dwell on pointless details? Let's just get straight to it. The girl clearly has questions that she'd like to ask us anyways. I'm sure the last thing she wants to do is talk about all the sex and partying she did." yn had to stop herself from gawking at her aunts accusations. daeyeon had always seen yn as this rowdy kid, always breaking rules and doing things worth judging, yn had a feeling it had something to do with her father.
"We can talk about all the wild nights spent studying and drinking coffee after nine pm when it's just the two of us Aunt Joo, I'd rather not make Aunt Daeyeon’s vein in her neck burst hearing about how scandalous the school uniforms have gotten." jooyeon tried her best not to laugh at the way yn tortured daeyeon, ever since they were kids she'd never met anyone that was able to effectively stand up to her older sister the way yn could. it made her love the young girl that much more seeing how angry she made daeyeon. the two sisters had never gotten along very well, jooyeon often being the victim to daeyeon's bullying as they grew up, but for yn's sake jooyeon pushed those feelings aside and moved in with the evil witch. she swore it was her punishment for all those prayers asking to make daeyeon's eighteenth birthday come sooner so jooyeon would finally be left alone with her favorite sister, yn's mom, siyeon.
"I suppose it can wait then." jooyeon smiled over at yn for a moment in hopes of calming her down. she could tell how nervous her niece was, she hated that they'd kept everything from her for so long. if it had been up to her she'd have told her the moment yn could understand. "We heard what happened in the school's library and Jeongguk's parents told us that he and Kim Seokjin told you what had happened to your mom and dad. We never wanted you to find out that way, I'm sorry that I didn't push to tell you sooner. If there's anything you're still confused about we'll answer any questions you have, I know that won't make up for it but I hope you'll be able to forgiving us for keeping it from you one day. I can only speak for myself but I never wanted you to be hurt this way."
"I had a lot of time to be angry and god, I was so angry, but I don't think anyone ever intended to hurt me. But I still feel like I can’t trust anyone. I feel like I've lost so many people because of this. I don't talk to Jeongguk because he was supposed to be my best friend, he knew everything and he chose not to tell me, he knew how much not knowing effected me and he kept it from me. I don't talk to Jin because of the part he played in all of it, I thought he was Jeongguk's voice of reason but I was wrong. I don't talk to the rest of my friends because I'm so scared I'm going to lose control again, I don't want to lash out at any of them because none of this is their fault. I broke up with Yoongi, I loved him, I still do, but he was Min Hayoon's nephew. Jeongguk said he knew all along but in all honesty I don't think he did, he said he didn't and I believe him. I just don't know what to do anymore, I miss my friends, I miss Yoongi, but I don't think I'm ready to let Jeongguk and Seokjin back in yet." it felt like a weight was being lifted off her shoulders the more yn let out. she never knew how good it could feel to actually talk about what was going on in her head.
"You're Siyeon," daeyeon's trembling voice caught both yn and jooyeon's attention. daeyeon had always seen yn's father in her niece. it was undeniable, that she was certainly kangmin’s child the moment you laid eyes on her. because of how yn resembled the man daeyeon blamed for her sisters death, she'd never given yn much of a chance. now hearing the way she spoke, watching her eyes well up with tears but never letting one slip out, daeyeon could see her sister in yn, and that broke her heart. "you're just like her. How have I never noticed before?"
"You've been too busy hating me because I look like him to notice. I'm not one or the other Aunt Dae, I'm me." yn said. it was the harsh truth, and maybe she shouldn't have been so blunt but it was everything she'd always wanted to say & had never been bold enough to.
"She might have Kangmin's looks and mischievous tendencies, but she’s got Siyeon's smile and bravery. I've been telling you for years." jooyeon said with sympathy in her eyes. she could see how much her sister was regretting all the years she'd rejected their niece.
"I'm so sorry for never noticing Yn, I've treated you so cruelly. I should've never let it get this way, I was supposed to be the adult here but I let my emotions get the best of me. I can't excuse it but maybe I can explain? You deserve to know the full story of how your parents died after all." yn had wished for this day to come for as long as she could remember, now that it was finally here she wondered if she'd be able to handle it. nodding for her aunt to continue yn braced herself, hoping it wouldn't be too much.
"At the time things were dark in the coven, the crime rate was higher than ever, witches had discovered that feeding on other witches would bring them more power. As you saw in the report that was how Min Hayoon got herself locked up. But to understand who she is we'd have to go back to before your parents graduated, she was in the same year as your parents, same faction as your father. They were friends at the time, when he was put into Astus he felt isolated from your mother and their friends, who you now know to be Jeongguk and Kim Seokjin's parents, who were all put into Fortis. When he met Hayoon he was already dating your mother in secret no one but that group knew about the relationship though I had my suspicions, I'll admit I was not fully on board with it but I always thought the stigma behind factions mixing was messed up.
Anyways, somewhere along the way Hayoon developed a crush on your dad, when she confessed he felt like he owed her an explanation as to why he didn't return her feelings and explained that he was in love with your mother. Hayoon was so jealous and disgusted that he was dating someone out of their faction that she exposed their relationship. The majority of the coven hated them for it but they were so powerful and two of the most popular witches of our generation that most turned a blind eye to it, which sent Hayoon off the deep end. She got power hungry, we think she hoped it would give her a chance with your dad since even at the end, when she’d been married and had a child, she still clearly loved your father. While she was in prison word got out that your parents had you. We dealt with backlash from the coven, even your grandparents cut ties with your parents, there were witches that attempted to kidnap you, some looking to kill some wanting to have a powerful daughter for themselves. After the second witch to come after you your mother and father called us to help them with keeping you safe, so the Jeon's, the Kim's, Jooyeon and myself all came together to help. You know Jeongguk's mother was expecting at the time so she suggested linking you to her unborn child, making it so that as long as Jeongguk was alive you would be too.
When word got out that Hayoon had escaped we hadn't expected her to come for you but she did. Your parents were living with us at the time so they weren't alone, but we were still outnumbered in power at the time. Hayoon had fed on so many witches before coming here and she wanted you as well. Jooyeon and I, to help your parents we gave them our powers, witches can willingly transfer their powers into any object temporarily or permanently, it was just supposed to be until they finally defeated Hayoon but when she killed them, our powers died with them. I've never regretted my decision.
For so long I resented your father because I felt like it was his fault Siyeon was in that mess in the first place. I realize that I can't blame him though, It was Siyeon's choice to marry him and have a child with him, she did it because she loved him and regardless of the outcome I think she'd always choose him because if I'm really honest with myself there wasn't another man or woman alive that would ever understand her the way he did. He died protecting the two of you, Hayoon gave him a choice to hand you over and run away with her or die and he chose to fight. You know how it ends, Hayoon was too strong for them but you, between the power you possessed just by being their child and the spell connecting you to Jeongguk, you managed to make it out alive.
Once the regent of our coven placed the law that no one was to ever speak of what happened we agreed, along with the Jeon's and the Kim's that we wouldn't tell our children what happened that day in fear of the three of you getting imprisoned for speaking of it, though it seems the Kim's changed their minds. We should've just told you, you deserved to know but at the time I thought it was the right thing to do, that and I couldn't bare to speak of that night. Regardless I'm sorry you had to find out the way you did, I'm sorry you've lost your friends and your boyfriend in all of this. I think Min Yoongi is one you can trust though, if he's anything like that father of his I wouldn't doubt he had anything but good intentions."
-
yn wasn't sure if she'd ever forgive jeongguk and jin, but she knew she needed to get the rest of her friends back. she couldn't continue to let her power control her. she couldn't survive in a world so cruel without friends to get her through it, she'd just have to try to control the dark parts of herself. and for the first time in her life she really felt like she stood a chance.

An Extraordinary Haru-Found-by-Chance Day
For a drama I literally found by chance, I’m quite shocked at how invested I was throughout its run. It has been about 2 weeks past its finale but I am still closely following news and interviews of the cast (who seem like such a lovely bunch to be around!)
Tumblr media
*spoiler alert*
So how does one become “aware”?
Extraordinary You is primarily about the lives of high-schoolers who are manhwa characters. These characters act with motives (controlled by a writer) while they are on “stage” (the actual storyboard that manhwa readers see, whoever these readers are), and in the “shadow” (their life sans the actual storyboard). Unaware characters do not remember what happen in “shadows” - giving “aware” characters the chance to do whatever they want (e.g., skip school - I wonder why they didn’t do more of that).
Tumblr media
But, how do characters become “aware”? I assumed the very first character who became aware in Secret was probably Dried Squid Fairy (Lee Tae Ri), but how did he become aware in the first place? How did Dan Oh become aware beyond just realising randomly one day that she has memory lapses? Is the writer’s intentions for his/her characters to be aware and hence she recycles them on purpose so they have a chance to be aware?? *Mindblown*
It’s great to see Kim Hye Yoon as a less angst teen.
Tumblr media
I’ve come to know of Hye Yoon through Sky Castle (which I suppose is where most people know her from) and then found that she was also in Goblin (as an extra... pun intended). I will not lie but I was half expecting Dan Oh to start screaming like Ye Suh as soon as she made her appearance. Still, it did not take long before I believed Dan Oh as a tiny chirpy bubbly princess.
Tumblr media
Although she was an extra in Secret, Dan Oh was in almost every scene there is in Extraordinary You. Hye Yoon probably had such a tight unimaginable schedule (given this is a live-shoot drama), but she delivered over and beyond. She was the cute factor, drama factor and emotional factor. I never needed to guess what Dan Oh was feeling or thinking because Hye Yoon helps me understand Dan Oh’s every move and motive. This. Girl. Can. Act. and we should keep an eye on her (her dimples are also super adorable).
Tumblr media
“Haru yah...”
He appears as a nameless and rather clueless extra (who for almost 4 episodes had no face or name to his fuzzy silhouette). The first thing he says is “Eun Dan Oh” (during the summer camp after stacking her fallen rocks); which is really sweet since he muttered her name even before she named him. Interestingly, it is also the last thing he says before disappearing from the Secret manhwa *still collecting my tears*.
It’s also interesting how the first word Dan Oh actually ever hears Haru say is “sorry” (while being lost in the woods). I felt it was so apt as that would probably be the first thing Haru from the previous manhwa would have wanted to say to Dan Oh after somewhat having a part in killing her *collects more tears*
Tumblr media
Rowoon is a new face to me (and to my utter surprise, he was actually in Where Stars Land. Like really?! How did I miss his handsome face?! And Hye Yoon adding to her SF9 collection as she moves along... Hahaha!). It was quite fun to see Haru ver.2 and Rowoon being slightly mean (because how can that face be anything but a cute puppy).
Tumblr media
Haru’s character development was slightly tricky to handle. He transforms from meek to bold, from unnoticeable to in-your-face-Baek-Kyung-back-off mode. Hence I can understand when Rowoon says he gave a lot of thought to Haru’s thoughts, and he definitely made Haru believable.
Tumblr media
While we are on Haru, let’s get this off my chest, Haru’s ending in Secret was just pure cruel. Haru only had a life in school and now he doesn’t even graduate from it?! And I cannot deal with how Dan Oh did not know about this till the last minute. I guess such a cruel ending then makes the meeting in the next manhwa more bittersweet. I loved how they were just extras because that means they can do anything they want in the shadow while being aware. But I also want that manhwa to last forever so we don’t have to go through another separation and another period of unawareness.
That fluffy fuzzy first love feeling...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*music* “Neon naege maeil cheot sarang...” That feeling is so palpable. Hye Yoon and Rowoon nailed the dating scenes so well. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen another love that is so pure. I have no more words to say. It’s just love in its most basic form.
What’s up with you, Baek Kyung?
Tumblr media
Moving on to our other lead. There is such a strong Baek Kyung fandom for reasons I cannot fully understand; maybe it’s because Lee Jae Wook is such a cutie behind the scenes, but Kyung is really kind of a j*rk. Baek Kyung really only redeemed himself in the last few episodes where he was slightly more human, less mean, and more active in taking over his character setup. Jae Wook though does some pretty good emotional scenes for a rookie!
Tumblr media
Those other relationships...
Nam Joo and Joo Da’s relationship was an unconventional one. I actually liked how Nam Joo was never ever self aware. It brings the whole relationship to another level when a self-aware Joo Da decides it is more important for Nam Joo to be happy than for her to follow her true feelings.
Tumblr media
Oh bless Do Hwa’s heart, he was so adorable. I was a little upset that Do Hwa didn’t get a girl. He was such a reliable friend to everyone (especially when Haru and Dan Oh lost their awareness, he was there for them). And he doesn’t even get a role in the new manhwa?!?! I really wanted to see this threesome again!
Tumblr media
Again I have never seen Jung Gun Joo, Kim Young Dae or Lee Na Eun in any of their previous works, which seems to be the running theme of this drama. It is a whole bunch of rookies (probably extras in their previous works) who are brought together to this project and they made it work. I also liked that little last minute story of Dried Squid Fairy and Soo Hyang (thank God he found out she was aware at the very end). There was no purposeless character (though barely scrapping through is Kyung’s brother but since Bae Hyun Sung looks remotely like Park Bo Gum, I’ll let him slide).
Who had that extremely challenging job of framing?
Tumblr media
It takes a lot to put together an entire production on film; i.e., actors don’t just turn up to say their lines and leave. Lights, costume, makeup, logistics etc. are all so important in creating the whole viewing experience. It made us believe Extraordinary You was a real alternative world. Its camera work itself deserves a mention.
The leads (or in fact Hye Yoon with any of her male coactors) are almost a whole 30cm ruler difference in height. While that is extremely adorable for us as viewers, it must have been a nightmare for the camera to frame them. While my finite knowledge limits me, let me try to explain why I am so amazed with the camera work.
Tumblr media
Take for example this frame (from episode 21 where Do Hwa finds out about their relationship). These two screenshots were from the same shot that lasted barely 2 seconds. You can see the camera starts framed such that Dan Oh’s necktie is not seen (so as to have a fuller shot of Haru) before it subtly pans downwards which also then results in Haru’s hair being slightly off the shot when it ends. It is such a minute detail but it matters since the last shot properly frames Dan Oh (who is the one speaking at that point). Of course, kudos to the actors too because such a tight frame means in order not to go out of shot, Rowoon and Hye Yoon need to act within a tiny amount of space (not that we are complaining...). And this is just one shot of many shots in one scene of many scenes. *mindblown again*
Tumblr media
Besides making Hye Yoon stand or sit on boxes which do not get filmed (e.g., above - there is no way a tip-toed Dan Oh can reach that height), I liked how the planning of the scene involved her going on other random platforms/ chairs/ stairs (which do get filmed) to create a different feel - so she’s not always looking up at them.
Tumblr media
As viewers, we obviously don’t see that much details when we are fully engrossed in the actual plot. But yes, behind the scenes work deserves so much more credit than it gets.
I finally conclude...
Tumblr media
I never thought I would like a high school drama that much, but Extraordinary You had it together. It wasn’t perfect, but it was genuine. I’m still a bit on the fence about its ending and whether I like the idea of Dan Oh and Haru being the only ones aware in the next manhwa. But I like that I am left thinking. And I will probably be thinking of this drama for a long time to come.
Verdict: I LOVE IT! To watch again!

You never believed in love. It was never part of your world, ripped from you at a young age. You were a hunter, a soldier against the inhuman creatures inhabiting the world. You lived a cursed life, one that saw more death than any one person should witness. You’ve spent too many years crying over people that were ripped from you and you finally decided to stop caring. No matter what happened, you refused to get close to another human being, and for many years, it worked out for you. If you didn’t care about anyone, your enemies would have no one to destroy.
Although it wasn’t the best, you had accepted that this was your life. Once you become a hunter, there’s no escaping it.
That’s what you always told yourself, what you wholeheartedly believed until he entered your life.
It happened so suddenly that you’re still not sure about the events that had taken place. You had been in Seoul, tracking down a small coven of vampires that had been terrorizing the locals. All of them were sitting in their home just waiting for you to murder them, except for the youngest, who you tracked down to a nightclub several blocks away. You found the vampire in question, about to bite a man that was clearly drunk and unaware of his surroundings. One clean sweep of your hatchet was all it took to end the terror the clan had been spreading.
You had been in similar situations many times before and you had no problem walking away from the victims. There were dozens of people just a few feet away – one of them would eventually enter the back room and find the male, but this time was different.
His eyes were clouded over from the mixture of alcohol in his system and the pheromones injected by the vampire. His hand reached out for your own as he slid down the wall, too inebriated to stay on his feet without assistance. You wanted to walk away like you had done thousands of times before, but your feet would not obey. You couldn’t break your gaze from his.
His plump lips parted, but no sound escaped.
Knowing you were going to regret your decision, you helped him back onto his feet, throwing his arm around your shoulders. It took some patience to get him through the crowd, but you managed, stepping out into the cold night.
“Where do you live?” You questioned, only to grunt when the weight suddenly increased. He nearly hit the ground, but you managed to readjust your grip, setting him against the wall. He was out cold, his chest rising and falling as he slept. With a groan, you repositioned him so he’d fall onto your back. You were seriously regretting your decision now, but it was too late to turn back now.
You struggled to get back to your hotel, which wasn’t too far from the nightclub. A couple people sitting outside looked at you strangely but you just sent them what you hoped was a friendly smile before hastily sliding the keycard into the slot.
Backing up to the bed, you released your grip and let him fall, lightly bouncing on the mattress. He didn’t stir from his slumber. How were you going to explain why he was in a stranger’s hotel room? Whatever, you’d cross that bridge when you got to it.
After that night, there was a little piece of red twine that tied the two of you together. No matter where you went, you would run into Daehyun despite trying your best to avoid him. He was after your heart, and that terrified you. By the time you realized what was happening, it was far too late – you were addicted to each other and neither could get enough.
In the blink of an eye, you had been dating each other for two years. The fear never left you, but Daehyun instilled a small flame of hope in your heart – hope that you could love and be loved, and live a normal life.
This would prove to be your biggest mistake.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚: *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: . ☁
From the moment you woke up, you had a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. You didn’t know what was causing it, but you knew something wasn’t right. The unease made you stick to Daehyun like glue, your body on high alert. Being the clingy shit he is, he thoroughly enjoyed being so close to you at all times throughout the day, unaware of the real reason behind your sudden clinginess.
Daehyun poked your cheek, a smile on his lips. “I need to get my makeup done, babe.”
Your grip around him tightened for a moment before you reluctantly released him.
He chuckled, pecking your lips. “I’m not going far.”
Your eyes followed him as he crossed the room, greeting a cordi as he took a seat in the chair. You caught her eyes and felt a chill go down your spine, your heart picking up speed. A sense of dread filled you, one you had become quite familiar with. Swallowing hard, you sucked in a breath, quickly exhaling. Wrapped up in the words was a faint, “Cristo”.
The cordi’s head snapped up, eyes scanning the room. It only lasted for a moment, but her eyes turned completely black, swallowing the sclera and iris.
It felt like your heart stopped.
“Are you okay?” Jongup asked softly, noticing how tense and rigid your body had become, hands turning white as they tightened around your jeans.
“Fine,” you breathed out shakily. “I’m fine,”
He wasn’t convinced, but he let it go, sparing you a worried glance every few minutes.
Daehyun was the last of the boys to get his makeup done, so when the cordi finished with him, she packed the makeup and left the room. He tried to wrap his arms around you, but you pulled away.
“I have to use the bathroom,” you rushed out of the room, running after her. She knew you were following her, but her relaxed pace didn’t change as she entered an unused room, glancing at you as she did so.
Your eyes scanned the area, making sure it was clear before you pulled out your knife. It was infused with salt, holy water, and demon blood. While it couldn’t kill a demon, it would certainly hurt them long enough for you to exorcise them.
You slowly entered the room, closing the door behind you.
She was sitting on a broken stool, her legs crossed as she applied mascara. “You seem a bit young to be a hunter.”
“There’s many that are younger than I am.” You commented, taking a few steps forward but careful to keep your distance.
She sighed dramatically, snapping the compact shut. “I came to Seoul because I heard there were very few hunters here. My luck would lead me straight into one.”
Your grip on the knife tightened. “What are your intentions here, demon?”
She clicked her tongue. “I have a name, human.”
“I couldn’t care less, you’ll be back in hell soon enough.”
Her eyes narrowed, red lips pursing. “Or we could make a deal.”
“Do you really think I’m fool enough to make a deal with a demon?” You scoffed, pointing your knife in her direction. “I’ve been around long enough to know better.”
“Hmm, even if it’s in your best interest?” She smirked, leaning forward. “You wouldn’t want anything to happen to your precious Daehyun, would you?”
Hearing his name triggered something within you and you rushed forward, aiming for her throat. She easily dodged your attack, gripping your wrist so tight that you lost feeling in your hand. The knife fell, clattering against the ground.
“Humans never change. Make them angry and they lose all sense of danger, rushing into their own death.” Her grip tightened for s moment before she shoved you down, the wind knocked out of you. “Calm down, I don’t want to fight.”
“Then what do you want?!” You demanded with a growl, trying to ignore the pain in your wrist.
She pursed her lips, eyes growing distant for a moment. “Peace,”
“…eh?”
“I just want peace. I’ve paid for my mistakes, centuries of paying for them. I made it out of hell, and I won’t be going back anytime soon.” Her eyes bore into your own. “We’re not so different, you and I. We’re both running away from a fate we didn’t want…”
You bit your lip, heart racing. Your mind was screaming at you for even considering such a thing. “What… What are the terms of your deal?”
“We scratch each other’s back. You help me fend off any hunters that happen to pass through, and I’ll help you protect that boy from any creatures that come after him.” She held out her hand, waiting for you to accept.
Your hand shook as it hovered over yours. Making a deal with a demon went against everything you believed in, everything that had been ingrained in you since childhood, but you would do anything to protect Daehyun. “Deal,”
She easily pulled you up, her lips finding yours. “The deal has been sealed. Pleasure doing business with you, human.”
You wiped your mouth with the back of your hand, watching as she headed for the door. “Y/N. My name is Y/N.”
She paused, glancing over her shoulder. “Alera,” And then she was gone.
You took a few minutes to compose yourself before heading back to the boys. It still felt as if your insides were shaking, but at least it wasn’t something others could see.
Daehyun’s eyes lit up when you entered the room and his arms immediately found your body. “I missed you~”
You buried your face in his chest, breathing in deep. His scent invaded your senses, helping to calm your nerves. It didn’t matter what you had done or what hell you would face. All that mattered was the man before you and his happiness.
“I’ll do anything for you, Dae.”
His heart fluttered and he picked you up, your feet hovering over the ground. “I know and I love it! I’ll do anything for you too, Y/N.”
You pressed your lips against his, nipping at his plump lower lip. He groaned in approval.
“Ahem,” Himchan cleared his throat loudly. “Maybe you could wait until AFTER the interview?”
Daehyun broke out in laughter, snuggling his face into your neck. His happiness was pure, tugging at your heartstrings as you ran your hand through his soft hair.

Episode 2:
Yoo Ji arrives at the hospital with a purpose this time. She has to tell Mo Yeon and her friends that she’s leaving to volunteer in Urk, a city on the other side of the world, she has no idea when she’ll come back but this isn't the first time so they shouldn’t be too surprised.
“Hey! Have you seen Mo Yeon?” she caught Chi Hoon, he shook his head no. he checked the board behind him.
“Oh, she should be coming out of the operation room. Come, I need to talk to her anyway,” he fidgeted as he nervously smiled. She glanced down and back up to his face.
“You lost your ring again” she stated, his eyes widened.
“Don’t tell Hae Eun!” he blurted out, she chuckled and promised she wouldn’t. He led her towards the room. They found Mo Yeon with Hae Eun.
Chi Hoon gave Hae Eun a really bad excuse for her to leave, as soon as she was out of sight he started looking through the laundry basket.
“He lost his ring again” Yoo Ji explained to a confused Mo Yeon. she then rolled her eyes.
“Again!?” she groaned. She glared at the anxious boy.
“Clench your jaw” she muttered, faking a jab at him. He smiled clenching his jaw before making his escape.
“I hope he grows up a little faster.” Mo Yeon murmured to Yoo Ji. she nodded and observed her doctor friend.
“Did you need me for something? I was going to take a quick nap before I do my rounds.” Mo Yeon sighed, she looked exhausted.
“I am leaving for volunteer work in two days,” Yoo Ji told her. She never beat around the bush.
“They need help covering the area and I am the only one available right now,” she explained.
“I thought you were covering the Park Ree Kim case?” Mo Yeon mentioned Yoo Ji’s case, she was at Haesun, getting treated for heart disease. Yoo Ji was tailing the doctor, to get information.
“They’re replacing me with a rookie reporter, besides it was the son” she waved off.
“I still don’t know why you choose to be a reporter when you could be a private investigator” Mo Yeon shook her head at how peculiar her friend was.
“I like writing the reports” Yoo Ji sarcastically replied. She soon had to leave to pack and get her stuff sorted out with the embassy. She bid goodbyes to all her friends.
-
The events between Shi Jin and Mo Yeon happen.
-
The shower scene right before the Alpha team is where Dae Young and Shi Jin ask Gwang Nam about Yoo Ji.
“I noticed ever since we came back from Haesung, you’ve been too quiet” Shi Jin questioned the tranquil man.
“You think he fell in love with Mun Yoo Ji?” Dae Young teased.
“Probably, he’s never seen a girl fight before” Shi Jin teased, laughing as he got shoved by Gwang Nam who was getting flustered.
“Shut up”
-
Yoo Ji explored the area well, she almost got every crook of the town that wasn’t dangerous to the public. Of course, she wasn’t scared she just didn't want to get on the U.S.’s bad side as they were leading the bases here.
She went to a bar by the seaside. She met this bartender that was peculiar, you can get anything there. But Valentine, the bartender, had a rule. ‘We don’t sell women or information here’ Yoo Ji loved to challenge that, and she’s only been here for a week.
There wasn't much to do here for a reporter, she was mostly covering the political debate between Urk and the U.S. but that was going very slow, and everyone is being careful so there’s not as much fun as her usual cases.
“Hey Val,” Yoo Ji greeted in English.
“Ji, you’re here again, it’s the fifth time this week.” Val scoffed with mild annoyance.
“I wouldn't be here if you would just give me what I need” Yoo Ji reminded her.
“The rule” Val stated with no room for leniency.
“Well then, I’ll just have a dry martini” Yoo Ji admitted silent defeat for the day.
“It's one in the afternoon” Val raised an eyebrow.
“It's happy hour somewhere,” Yoo Ji muttered.
-Eight months later-
The Korean army found an active land mine, they were instructed by Yoo Shi Jin to disarm the active ones. Of course, Shi Jin and Dae Young got called to the main base to be disciplined for not following the correct orders and letting the US Army deal with it.
Gwang Nam was tasked with driving them there, he dropped them off and went to hang out in the bar that's near the base.
He pulled up and went inside. He sat by the bar and ordered a drink, he was planning on waiting for Shi Jin and Dae Young and then leaving when they finish.
But his thought process was halted when his eyes were drawn to the door, and a familiar girl walked in. she didn't seem to notice him and sat a few seats away from him. He figured she was used to military men being around here considering how close this bar was to their base.
She called the bartender, and Gwang Nam noticed that they were on a first-name basis. The bartender whose name he heard was Val, seemed used to the girl’s tendencies.
Gwang Nam couldn't get over his shock of seeing Yoo Ji, the strange girl he met back in Korea at the hospital Ki Bum was getting treated at. His mouth was flopped open, he couldn't believe the odds.
Finally, Yoo Ji seemed to feel someone’s gaze on her, she turned and couldn't help but feel shock radiate through her body. She didn't let it consume her though, she quickly recovered and gave him a knowing smile. She hopped off her seat and plopped right next to him.
“Hey, we met in Korea, right? Mo Yeon tried to call the police on your friend” her smile grew at the ridiculousness of her friend.
“Yeah,” Gwang Nam swallowed and gave her a small smile.
“You’re probably wondering why am I here” Yoo Ji speculated from the curious look on his face.
“If you don't mind sharing” he responded.
“I am a reporter, I am covering the political debate. What about you soldier?” she grinned.
“I’ve been deployed here for the last 8 months” he vaguely ghosted over exactly what he’s doing here. He couldn't exactly tell her that he was on ‘break’ from his ‘special’ job.
“You’re a First Sergeant, probably involved in Special Forces” Yoo Ji deduced. They don’t deploy any soldiers here, it was a magnet for hostage kidnappings. Gwang Nam had to hide his surprise or he’ll lose his job.
“But you know, you don't strike me as a special forces agent” she saw the hooded look in his eyes, he was probably going to stay silent, his way of not confirming nor denying; but now she made a hit to his ego and pride. To Yoo Ji, she knew that military men have a huge pride problem. Especially those who went voluntarily, she saw the small fire ignite in his eyes. Yoo Ji also noticed that he was trained well, he was trained to not lie but to not tell the whole truth, which is much more efficient. Beats the polygraph test seven times out of ten.
“That’s what makes me good at it” he teased. Yoo Ji felt her eyebrow raise. He didn't deny it but he didn't outright tell her. He left enough space for her to wonder if she’s right or not. She quietly approved. usually, they would crack under her pressure.
Their stare off was interrupted when two more men joined their section.
“Ready to go?” Dae Young asked from behind the girl Gwang Nam was conversing with.
“Captain and Deputy Leader” Yoo Ji addressed turning around with a smirk. Shi Jin overreacted and put a hand to his chest, while Dae young gave her an amused smile.
“Cool girl! What are you doing here?” Shi Jin questioned as he gave her a side hug.
“I knew you liked me but you didn't have to follow me halfway around the world” Dae Young deadpanned, causing Yoo Ji and Gwang Nam to roll their eyes at Dae Young’s dry sense of humor.
“As if, I am here on special reporter business that I can’t tell you about” she twisted her words and made eye contact with Shi Jin. Yoo Ji was trying to see if he got what she’s trying to do. He did.
“Mo Yeon told you” it was a statement.
“Just because I am halfway around the world, doesn't mean I don’t know what’s going on with my friends.”
“Well, then you should know she’s coming to Urk next week” Dae Young informed her. That she didn't know, Mo Yeon didn't mention that. The last thing she mentioned was that the Chairman asshole tried to sleep with her.
She didn't mention that to Shi Jin, she wanted to see his reaction when Mo Yeon tells him herself, now that she’s coming.
Yoo Ji excused herself telling them she had to go to her boss and report back on some work she had done prior to meeting them.
Turns out, Yoo Ji’s boss was looking for volunteers to stay at the Taebaek Unit to cover an issue on how the Korean military sustains in foreign countries. They were allowed by the Korean military and had to be careful about what they write, and so the boss wanted to find the best person that would do so. She was set to move in later in the week.

Alternate title: That time Demoman killed a gangster.
/(FINALLY, I managed to finish this! I’m coming down with a sore throat, but I powered through and got this done anyway because that’s just how I am. So this is the next installment in my Origins series, and this chapter is Demoman. This one gets pretty long, but I hope y’all like it anyway!)/
Any nun at the Arms of Love Orphan Home would describe Tavish as a happy child. It was all over his record that he always in a good mood, that he loved to smile and laugh and joke with the other children. “Ay, he wis such a sweet child,” Sister Loreena, a nun who knew him most of his childhood, would sigh many years later. “He loved tae make the other children laugh, that's whit A remember most aboot him...” What Loreena conveniently seemed to forget, though, was that he had been at the same orphanage twice in his life. First, as a newborn baby, one who the nuns doted over until he was eventually adopted (of course he was adopted – he was beautiful, after all), but six years later he was promptly returned to the same place. Why? Because, allegedly, he was the reason his adoptive parents were now dead. He had a very strange obsession with explosives, and the nuns were aware of this but they were very concerned. When they banned him from going to the shops to buy his own, he just began making them, and no matter how hard the nuns prayed for him he never stopped. The other children didn't seem terribly concerned with the explosives, and many of them liked to watch him stuff dynamite into the dirt and set it off, blowing chunks of the earth everywhere while they all cheered. Yet, it was the start of the school year when things began to change. Tavish was enrolled in the education program taught right there at the orphanage, and it was there that a new nun was assigned to teach the children. She looked young, much younger than any of the other nuns, and she went by the name of Sister Joy. Joy entered the room, setting down her bag and writing her name with chalk on the board. “Hello, children,” she began, and she spoke in a strange accent they had never heard before. “My name is Sister Joy,” “Hello, Sister Joy!” the children greeted in unison, just as they had been taught. She seemed a little startled by the loud hello, but she shook it off and pinned up a piece of paper to the chalkboard. “This is your schedule, and you are expected to follow it every day unless told otherwise. Now, first, we will begin with devotions -” A girl in the back of the room suddenly gasped. “Tavish!” and that was all the warning there was before a jar of paint came tumbling down from the shelf above and burst open, painting the carpet blue. Joy glanced up, and that was when her eyes met Tavish's frightened face. He'd leaned a bit too far back in his chair and disturbed the shelves sitting behind him in the back – it was clearly a mistake, and while Joy was not happy about it she was also glad that he didn't hurt himself. “Please clean that up,” Joy sighed, pointing to the roll of paper towels sitting in the back. Tavish nodded quickly, jumping up and grabbing the towels and tearing a piece off. He didn't want to disappoint, the nuns here already did not trust him with any explosive. As Joy began to teach, Tavish got on his hands and knees and cleaned the paint off of the floor, glancing up to watch her as she gave the first lesson of the day. After the day ended, Tavish approached Joy at her desk, much to her surprise. “Sister Joy?” he began meekly, hovering over her desk with a look of earnest in his eyes. “I'm sorry I knocked ower the paint, it happened accidentally,” before Joy could even reply, he kept talking. “I wonae dae it again!” Joy laid down her pen, looking him over for a moment – he was tall for a seven-year-old, with thick hair on his head and large round eyes. “That's all right, Tavish,” she assured him. “It's washable paint, anyway, and I am very glad you were so eager to clean it,” she cleared her throat. “I heard from the other sisters that you like to make explosions?” He nodded. “Ay, ma'am,” “You like to be reckless, yes?” “Ay, ma'am,” “Well,” she sat up a little taller, making eye contact with him. “Would you like an opportunity to do something constructive for a change?” Tavish looked away for a moment. The word 'constructive' made him think of construction workers, so did she mean building? “I like makin' things sometimes,” he replied, nodding. Joy smiled a little. “Well, I'm sure you do. But, would you like to help me around my office sometimes? I could do with a little extra help, and you could do with the experience,” “Oh,” Tavish thought about it. “Is that fun?” She shrugged. “It could be. How about we start tomorrow afternoon, yes?” Tavish considered it before he nodded in agreement. “Okay, I can help ye. I can put things together!” “Wonderful,” Joy smiled again, nodding. “I will see you then, Tavish,” Sure enough, he arrived at her office the following afternoon, ready to help with whatever Joy needed him to do. She really admired his enthusiasm, most of the children wouldn't have been as eager to help out as he was. “So, Tavish,” Joy began, watching as he cut out stacks of worksheets with the scissors, making sure he didn't hurt himself. “When did you begin using your explosives?” Tavish shrugged, paying extra attention to the corners of each paper. “I dinnae really remember. I like to play with them and I was gonna explode Nessie at my old house,” Joy's brows furrowed. “Nessie? Do you mean the Loch Ness Monster?” “Shh!” Tavish hissed, whirling around and pressing a finger his lips. “Dinnae say her name! She'll hear ye!” Joy blinked, and she couldn't help but chuckle. “All right, all right. Who is Fergus?” Tavish went back to the papers. “Fergus is ma' old dad,” his voice was a little quieter. “He died, an' so did my old mum,” “Oh...” Joy's heart sank. The other nuns had told her beforehand about this. “I see,” she sat beside him, watching him cut the papers some more. “Well...you have all of us, now,” Tavish still didn't look up. “The sisters says Jesus forgives me,” “That's true,” Joy nodded, folding her hands on her lap. “Anyway, it's um...it's all in the past,” Tavish finally glanced up, and he suddenly got an odd feeling about Sister Joy. “How come yer not old?” he wanted to know, squinting. Joy seemed confused by the question. “What do you mean? Not all nuns are old ladies,” “Really?” Tavish blinked in surprise. “I thought they were all old maids...” “Ah,” Joy smiled, amused, shaking her head. “No, no...and I'm not that young, I'm...” Something out the window caught her attention, and her face fell. Tavish turned around, trying to see what she was seeing. “What?” Joy suddenly grabbed him, yanking him out of the chair and bringing him down to the floor. “Get down!” she exclaimed, her voice full of panic, and it was then that the loud sounds came. Tavish thought they sounded like firecrackers, but he had never seen someone so scared over firecrackers. “What is it?” he asked, feeling very anxious as he felt Joy trembling in fear against him. After a moment, Joy sat up, still holding Tavish close to her, and the sound of tires could be heard skidding away. She sat nothing for a long time, her lips parted slightly as she silently tallied the damage done to the windows. “What happened?” Tavish stared up at her, brows knitted in fear. “What broke the windows?” Joy did not look at him, and she whispered to no one in particular, “God, he found me...” Just then, the door opened, and Sister Loreena came rushing in. “What was all the noise?” she nearly squealed, pulling Tavish away from the window. “Joy, what happened!?” Joy did not answer, and she stood up, quietly leaving the room without another word. Tavish tried to get a better look at the bullet holes in the office window, but Loreena pulled him away. “Come away, child, ye shouldnae touch the broken glass!” The incident was never brought up again, and the window ended up being replaced. Tavish never really forgot about the event, but he continued to help Sister Joy with various odd jobs. She seemed kind and charming in a way most of the nuns weren't, and it wasn't long before he began to trust her completely. He got called a 'teacher's pet' by the other boys, but he didn't care – if he was lucky, maybe Sister Joy could be his new mother! Wouldn't that be something? But a month later, during recess, Tavish sat by the woods with his friends, and they all began to gossip about the teachers, as they often did. “Ye know what I heard?” began Micha, a small wiry boy with wide-rimmed glasses. “I heard Sister Joy isn't really a nun!” Tavish shook his head, making a face. “No, she's a nun! She's just not old like the other nuns! You're wrong, Micha,” “No, no!” chimed in Ramona, tall for her age but still just the same size as Tavish. “It's true! Kenny says he heard Sister Mary talkin' an' she said Sister Joy was 'impure'!” “Impure?” Tavish repeated. “What does that mean?” “Not holy,” Micha explained. “It means she isn't a nun!” This thought didn't sit right with Tavish at all, although he wasn't sure why. What did 'impure' mean? If she wasn't a nun, then what was she? He decided to ask her himself. When he went to visit her that afternoon to help sort her cabinets out, he asked her right up front: “Sister Joy, are you impure?” Joy nearly dropped the stacks of papers she was carrying. “Am I...am I what?” “Impure,” Tavish began to explain. “My friends said you were impure and that you weren't really a nun,” Joy went quiet before she turned around and knelt to Tavish's height. “Tavish,” she began. “Everything is rather...complicated at the moment. I can't explain everything, but...” she swallowed. “All I will tell you is that once everything is sorted out, I will have to leave,” “Leave!?” Tavish was flabbergasted, and he wrapped his arms around her neck. “But you can't go!” “I will have to,” Joy took his chin into her hand, and she kissed his forehead. “I wish I could stay, but that's not God's plan,” Tavish sniffed, blinking up at her. “Can...can I go with you?” Joy smiled sadly, and she shook her head. “I'm afraid not. You have to stay here,” “But I want to go with you,” he stared at the floor, pouting, tears welling in his eyes. “Maybe you could be my new mum...” Joy fell silent, and after a moment, she took Tavish's hand and squeezed it. “That can't happen, unfortunately,” she spoke very seriously to him, yet her eyes were full of warmth. “But, I want you to know that if my baby is a boy, I hope he's just like you,” There was a pause. Tavish looked up, realizing what she had said. “Baby...?” She placed his hand over her stomach, which was hidden beneath her robe, but he felt right away that it was firm. He stared in surprise, blinking. “You're going to have a baby?” “You must not tell the other children, whatever you do,” she lowered her voice, speaking in a hushed whisper. “This must be kept a secret,” Tavish felt downright shocked. Were nuns allowed to have babies? He knew they couldn't get married, so how would she have a baby? Now that he was so close to Sister Joy, he began to notice other details about her: her ears had holes in them, but no earrings, she had a very faint scar on her top lip, and perhaps the strangest of all was the marks on her wrists he’d noticed when she held his hand. Not to mention that when he saw her face up close, he realized she was not as young as he'd thought she was. She was already starting to look older...did she always have so many wrinkles? Still, Tavish told no one. He kept it in, never saying a word, but as the months progressed Sister Joy's secret pregnancy was becoming more and more noticeable. The other children noticed, but they didn't suspect that she was pregnant: they just giggled behind her back about her being 'fat'. Only Tavish knew the truth. And then came that fateful winter night. During a choir concert in the chapel, Tavish sang right along with the other children, just as he always did, when he noticed that Sister Joy was looking on the window again. She was in the audience, but he could clearly see her watching some lights going by through the stained glass. When the song ended, the children were dismissed, and Tavish watched as Joy opened the door and slipped out quickly, not saying a word. “Sister Joy?” Tavish followed after her, not even bothering to put on his jacket as he stepped out into the snow. “Where are you going?” She didn't seem to hear him, and she stood by the side of the road, where a car was parked. “I told you to leave me alone,” she spoke harshly to whoever was in the driver's side, his fists clenched in anger. “I don't need this right now,” Tavish stopped, watching the altercation from a safe distance. He caught a glimpse of who was driving the car: a large, scarred man, clad in a suit with a cigarette in his lips. “Shut up and get in the car, Helen,” he growled, removing the cigarette. Joy took a step back, shaking her head. “No. You don't control me anymore,” He turned his huge form towards her, and something shiny glinted in his hand. “I said,” he presented the gun, glaring into her eyes. “Get in the car, and take off all that shit,” Tavish gasped, freezing up. His heart pounded – what could he do? He had never seen anything like this before, and he was just a boy. Joy took another step back, gritting her teeth. “Don't do this, Issac,” Issac pursed his lips together. “Do the right thing, and get in the car,” when she didn't move, he sighed. “I'll count to three...one,” Tavish looked around frantically, feeling dizzy. He looked towards the warm glow of the church, suddenly recalling that there was something very important in his coat pocket. “Two...” In a flurry, Tavish rushed to the church doors, scrambling for the coat rack and nearly ripping down his coat. He grabbed the homemade grenade he'd hidden from the nuns earlier that morning, and he rushed back out into the snow. “Three!” Issac aimed the gun, but before he could do anything, a young boy came rushing up with a strange-looking object in his hand. “Tavish!” Joy exclaimed, shrieking and attempting to pull him back. The last thing Issac ever saw was the young boy tearing a pin out of the object before he threw it into the open window. Joy fell right on her back, holding Tavish as close to her body as possible, trying to shield him for flying debris as the car exploded, sending bits of metal everywhere. The noise died down, and Joy sat up slowly, still holding Tavish close to her. As she silently stared at all of the damage done, at the wrecked car and the remains of the man who had antagonized her, Tavish shifted in her arms. “Ow,” he whimpered, wriggling. Joy glanced down, pulling him away to look at him. “A-are you all right? I – oh, no!” she gasped, realizing that she hadn't managed to protect him from all the flying debris. “What?” he tried to blink, but something wasn't quite right with his vision. He touched his left eye, feeling at it. “W-what happened to my eye?” What happened next was a blur. Joy screamed for an ambulance, and the other nuns were surrounding him and whispering prayers over him as he was rushed to the hospital. He wondered if he was dying, but whenever he asked no one seemed to answer. His last memory of Joy was her hovering over him, tears in her eyes as she brushed his cheek. She was out of her robes, and for the first time, he saw her long black hair framing her face. She seemed youthful again as she stroked his hair, and her eyes glinted as she watched his face. “May God be with you, Tavish,” she whispered. “Thank you, for what you've done. This will not be forgotten,” He never saw her again, and the nuns never said where she went. The following events are debatable, but Tavish claims to this day that they happened. At just seven years old, Tavish was already ready to give up on life, and he suddenly felt hopeless and scared. He cried in the darkness, alone and terrified, and he sobbed into the dark, “I dinnae wanna be here anymore! I wanna go home! I just wanna go home!” He choked on his sobs in the dark, his shoulders quivering when suddenly someone joined him. “You must rise, Tavish,” a gentle voice whispered to him. A green glow appeared beside him, though he couldn't see a face. “But Joy left...” he sniffed. “Joy is gone,” “She will be all right,” the voice assured. “But you must rise. If you don't, you will never meet your family,” “What family?” Tavish looked up, his eyes unable to adjust to the glow. “I dinnae have a family,” A pair of arms held him, and he felt a loving warmth wash over him. “You do,” the voice assured. “And you have friends waiting for you – and they will love what you do. But, you must rise,” So he rose, and he continued. After all was said and done, Tavish sat alone in his bedroom, hugging his knees as he stared out of the window. He still had pain in some places, and now he only had one eye. Yet, despite everything, he was alive. Someone knocked on his door. “Tavish?” Sister Loreena poked her head in the doorway. “Tavish, darling, you have visitors,” Tavish stood up obediently, and he followed Loreena down the stairs to the meeting area. There stood a man and a woman, both watching Tavish anxiously as he entered the room. He paused, taking a look at both of them for a good while, before he asked, “Are you me new mum and dad?” The woman let out a sob, and she fell to her knees, pulling Tavish in her arms and holding him close. “Oh, my God! Oh, my God!” she exclaimed, beginning to weep, rocking him as she held him. Tavish blinked, very confused. He didn't know these people at all... The man knelt beside the two, unfurling a newspaper with the headline, Notorious Gangster Dead in Car Explosion. “We have of explainin' tae do, dear boy,” the man began, placing his free hand on Tavish's shoulder.

He is Psychometric Episode 9 Review
Mom is guilty of so much more that we have been lead to believe so far. I’m sure she is a victim of violence, but after last week and especially this episode I am starting to believe she is the culprit behind all the things that happened the night of the fire. I’m thinking that knowing the man she was running away from was in the building she was driven out of her mind by fear and did something crazy, putting all the characters where they are today. I would go as far to believe she has been mentally unstable for a long time now, which is why Sung-mo had to take care of her most of the time. Not only because of the man looking for them.
I also think Mom is guilty of believing Sung-mo is like his father. Yeah, the cast credit says “KANG Geun-tae” (played by Lee Seung-joon), so let’s just put it out there already and confirm it. If not his father, definitely a relative. Anyway, I don’t blame her for trying to make sure Sung-mo wasn’t like him but that’s a lot of weight to put on someone so young. I don’t think she was thinking clearly, another point of why I believe she was not in her right mind the night of the fire.
Besides, you can see how much it has scarred Sung-mo through his life the fact that his mother was so sure he was capable of the same things his father has done. Especially when Sung-mo, in my book, clearly has no problems expressing his feelings. Sure, he might be more closed off than others but that comes from a hellish childhood; plus he gets angry at people, cries at the memory of his mother, teases Ji-soo and he loves his little self made family. Damn it! If he had alexithymia, why would he jump out a four floor window to save a little kid? Ahn being alive is proof Sung-mo is NOTHING like his father.
And I’m glad Ahn’s little stunt lead to them having a conversation about Sung-mo intentions to kill the man responsible for every scar he’s got. Ahn really is the emotional anchor of this show, as proven too my the origin story of his friendship with Dae-bong which was really bittersweet.
Speaking of which, Ahn and Jae-in’s little date was adorable and they were so happy... why show? why did you have to that to them? I mean, okay, I’m glad the angst came sooner rather than later because now we can deal with this, kiss and make up, and get all the main characters to find the real culprits of these crimes. BUT IT STILL HURTS.
Ji-soo’s little flashback to her teen years gave us a lot more information. For example, we know Sung-mo has been adamant to reinvestigate the fire incident since day one. Which means he has always believe one of his parents were the real culprits, besides it would give him proof that mom is not actually dead. Meaning that he has been looking for her all these years and that’s the confirmation he had gotten from the mobster. All of this could be confirmed, in theory, by Dr. Hong’s discoveries about the corpses from the night of got fire. Let’s give a round of applause to her for figuring it out and tell Ji-soo right away the suspicions she has towards Sung-mo’s mother.
We also know that Ji-soo had been sick in her childhood and even went under several heart surgeries. That sounds like a lot of money spent on hospital bills and I don’t think a detective’s salary could possible afford them, so it seems like a glimpse as to why Chief Eun might have started working with YSS Construction Company.
Also! Former detective Nam is actually a divorcee! I sense a love line between him and Jae-in’s aunt, but more importantly why is this man practically retired again? Once again he proved to be an excellent detective and I get a feeling his talents are being wasted. I’m hoping he will get to work with Ahn and company to solve the case, especially since he was the one who used to be in charge of the case against the mobsters making profit of people trafficking, which is related to YSS Construction Company.
Question: why is Kang Geun-tae aka mystery murderous man so fixated on Jae-in? Why not Ahn since he stabbed him once and he lives with Sung-mo? Why not Ji-soo considering he has been following her since her teen years?
So many questions to answer, SO MANY.

CSUAVS prt 26 update. Shots fucking fired
Lance didn't sleep well. His mind wouldn't let him rest, racing and supplying him with nightmares when he did finally fall asleep. Feeling flatter than a witch with a house on her, he let Keith fuss over him. Leaving all decisions to his not boyfriend, down to how much makeup they should use on his cheeks. Lance was happy with only a little, but Keith insisted he needed more to sell the lie, leaving small deposits to crumble on the edges were it dried unevenly. Normally Lance prided himself on his appearance, he tried to once again when the drugs had stabilised in his system, so it irritated him each time he caught the slightest glance of the caking. The compromise over the bad make up was that he was allowed to wear a body suit under his normal clothes. He felt better than way, safer, Keith insisted that he didn't need it, yet he felt too exposed without it on. Keith caving without a fight when it came to his mental health. It irritated him how easily Keith had gotten through to him once he'd explained what had happened... but Keith had a way about him. A stupid loved up stalkerish way that Lance secretly loved in his own way. Walking through the Atlas, things seemed peaceful. There was no clunk or hum of the engines. No one yelling at each other. No one fighting over the bathroom. It felt cold. Peaceful but cold. Yep. That was the only way Lance could describe it. Thankful that Keith was walking beside him, it made the grey walls all that more manageable. He really didn't need to have a panic attack over the colour of the walls before they even reached everyone else. His heart was already pounding like crazy as it was. Reaching the doorway to the dining area, his steps stalled, Keith's hand brushing against his "It's going to be ok" "I know. Nerves and all that" "If it counts, I'm pretty nervous too..." Lance wanted to tease him. He would have if Keith hadn't genuinely cared about him. He could smell it on Keith. This morning smelt so much clearer than the others, or maybe it was because the Atlas didn't smell like anything in particular. Not like the Telula did. Remembering in the tick of time, Lance stopped himself from kissing Keith's cheek. The Atlas had cameras everywhere. As it was, someone on staff might be able to read lips, which would complicate things if people started asking questions. They were friends. The others knew Lance as an intimate person, him touching Keith wouldn't be too odd. Lance wasn't in a good enough mental state to confidently tell Keith he was ready to announce it or make it official. Walking into the dining area, everyone had seemed to break off into their own little groups. MFE pilots at one. Pidge was having breakfast with her family. Shiro nursing his coffee as he talked with Coran and Curtis. Hunk's family was talking with Shay's. His family were huddled together on one table, and his team on the other. How was he supposed to chose? His team didn't know anyone, but at the same time, his family had come all this way "I'll grab us breakfast. Why don't you sit with the team? They all look a little lost" "Thanks. I hope everyone's been nice to them. We were only staying a few quintants... I don't want there to be a fight" "Yeah. Ok, go on" "Lance! I was worried" Sitting himself down beside Lucteal, Lance gave a strained smile at him and Daehra "Sorry guys. I had to stop by my girl this morning to get some clothes. Did you guys eat?" Leaning past her brother, Daehra nodded "Your Hunk insisted on cooking for us. His food is very nice" "Oh, so you met Hunk?" "We met him last night. He made us Earth pancakes with sureeep. I have never tried anything like them before" "Hunk is an amazing cook. You know those herbs you brought with you, Pidge's mother will be able to grow some for Hunk. To help make your pancakes and syrup. I know I let you guys down last night, but things are going to be better today" Daehra nodded quickly, a blush on her cheeks. This all had to be surreal for his team, meeting the famous Voltron and staying on the famous Atlas. Even if he was slightly scared, he was so damn proud of his team. Anyone who said they didn't belong here deserved to be punched in the face. It was thanks to the galactic war that they'd all been dishomed to begin with. They'd all fought and survived without the help of Voltron and the Lions "Deahra, do you want to meet her?" "What?!" Lucteal elbowed his sister at her loud cry. Lance nodding his head as he grew slightly more confident about his question. Everyone was in small groups, all doing their own thing. Just because he was chicken shit, didn't mean she should have to suffer "Right now. She's just there, and she's pretty nice" "But I..." "But nothing, Dae. You're amazing with herbs and you know... even if she doesn't have time, she'll know who you are" "Leandro..." "You're amazing Dae. I like trust you with my life. Come on" "But..." "Nope. I know I really dropped the ball yesterday. I should have checked you were alright last night, and I should have been here for you before breakfast. Please let me make it up to you" "Leandro..." "Good. It's settled. Lucteal, are you coming?" Lucteal shook his head, casting a glance over to the MFE pilots table "That one over there with the obnoxious hair. I want to hit him" Following Lucteal's lead, Lance snorted to himself "That's James. He always goes after Keith. But yes, he's obnoxious as hell" "Can I shoot him? He keeps looking this way" "You can't shoot him. Apparently Earth needs him... but I have another idea. Let me introduce Dae first, then we'll go from there" Slinging an arm around Daehra's shoulders, as Lance would have, he led Daehra over to the Holts. Flicking Pidge on the ear, the green gremlin had been too absorbed in her tech to hear him approaching "What the quiznak?! Oh... Hey, Lance" "Hey, Pigeon. What you working on?" "Your friend over there insinuated my coding wasn't up to scratch..." "That would be Zak. Not to brag, buuuut..." "Lance you better not finish that sentence, or I will fight you" "Ooooh. Someone needs her morning coffee" "No. I just need you to shut up" "Katie Holt! That is not how we talk to friends" Pouting at her mother, Pidge went back to her laptop "It is when it's Lance" Reaching over, Colleen took Pidge's laptop from her. Pidge trying to grab it back while her mother ignored her "It's nice to see you Lance. You look good" At least someone was happy to see him "Thanks. I know I'm interrupting your breakfast, but I have someone I really want you to meet. This is my girl Daehra. She's my team's medic, with a huge interest in plants and botany. When I told her of your research, she was in awe. Her medicinal herbs are the best in the sectors we work" Colleen looked Daehra up and down, her smile growing "I can never say no to a young botanist. Why don't you bring some of your herbs down to my lab and we'll go over them together" Daehra blushed hard "Thank you very much. I'm not very good..." "Dae, you're amazing. You should know that by now. Thank you so much. And Pidge his name is Zak. He's absolutely crazy about tech. You should talk to him about the AI he's building. He's instilled it with layer learning. I know you've been working on your own projects, but you never know..." "If he's friends with you, then he's probably a weird" Poking his tongue out, Lance reached out and ruffled Pidge's hair "Then you'll get on perfectly. We'll leave you to it. Thanks so much" Daehra gave a half bow "Thank you" Leading Daehra back to the table, Lucteal had moved down a seat so Lance could sit between him and Keith, with Daehra on Keith's other side. Placing down a plate of pancakes, Keith nudged him with his shoulder as Lance sat "What was that about?" "I wanted to introduce Daehra to Colleen" "How'd it go?" "She wants Dae to go by her lab with her herbs later" "Good job, Daehra. I'm sure you'll learn a lot from her" "Thank you... I was nervous when Pidge told Le-Lance to be quiet" Keith's expression turned hard. Lance didn't need Keith feeding his anxiety by being protective "She did?" "Don't go there. Its Pidge and you know how she is when she's on her laptop" "Ohhh... you disturbed the great Pigeon?" Keith's face relaxed, a smile on his lips as he teased him gently. Sighing exaggeratedly, Lance tried to look grave "I did. Her mother even scolded her" "Oh no" "Oh yes. It would seem that Zak wounded her pride last night" "Dammit Zak" "Eh, they're both nerds. Did you see Hunk?" Prying into Hunk's life through Keith was the best he could hope for right now "Oh. Yeah. We're going to have a Paladin lunch. To catch up and stuff. Man, he's so nervous. Shay knows something is going on, and he's sure she knows what" Lance's knife slipped as he went to slice through his pancake, syrup smearing on his fingers. It would just like him to klutz up right now "I wouldn't be surprised Shay is pretty smart" "I thought Shiro would be engaged to Curtis before Hunk got engaged to Shay" "Nah. Adam was Curtis's brother. It doesn't matter how long you know a person, there's still a difference between going from friends to lovers" Slumping down slightly in his seat, Keith rubbed his knee against Lance's. The half-Galra was a damn menace "That's true. Do you have any plans for today?" Plans? Not having a panic attack was his plan "Leandro said he may be able to arrange for me to hit that James" Choking on his pancake, Keith looked to him with watery eyes "What?" "James has been side eyeing my team this morning. I might not be up for sparring, but if he wants to try taking my team on, he's gotta be prepared to have his arse kicked" "Lance..." "Relax, Mullet. I was thinking of showing Lucteal to the training room, after helping Daehra with her herbs. Pidge is going to get curious over Zak, and the others... I'm not sure what they want to do" "Why don't I show Lucteal to the training room, while you help Daehra with her herbs?" After yesterday's stellar performance, Lance didn't really want to seperate from Keith's side. He still felt guilt that his family was over there having breakfast without him. Then again, they saw Veronica even less than they saw him. He was alive. That was all that mattered to them. Keith told him he was strong, so he had to be for him "Yeah. Divide and conquer?" "Mhmm. Oh quiznak... Mum's coming today" Lance deflated a little. He didn't know how to look Krolia in the eyes "Don't be like that. Mum knows what you mean to me" "You should be hanging out with your mum..." "I don't know what time she'll be arriving. I'll message her to meet us wherever we are... She's going to be happy to see you" "She might not be when you fill her in on everything" "Babe, she knows most of what happened. I mean... she knows I made my choice to be with you. And that I'm staying with you" "She's your mum..." "That has a whole planet to rule. Besides, if she arrived while we're trying, she's not likely to back down from a fight" Lance groaned. Lucteal wasn't ready for Krolia training "Make sure she goes easy on my team. I like them and would like for them to stay in one piece" "Mum won't be that bad" They both knew otherwise... Or at least Lance did. Krolia scared him, even when it came to light sparring "You say that now" "Oh shut up and eat your breakfast already" Sighing heavily, Lance stabbed at his pancakes with his fork. Lucteal was strong... hopefully with Keith watching, nothing would go wrong "Yes, Keith" * Dropping Daehra off at Colleen's lab, Lance was feeling pretty good about it. When Daehra hadn't known what to bring, he'd suggested samples of her pills and the herbs she used to make them. Promising to let him know when they were done, Lance half wanted to stay and watch, to protect Daehra if anything was to happen. Instead, he nodded at her promise, and wished her well as he started through the Atlas and up to the training room. Part of him was mentally laughing at the fact Shiro hadn't wanted anyone walking around his ship unescorted, and there he was doing just that. Walking into the training room, Lance wasn't expecting Keith and James to be sparring. Lucteal watching on, actually cheering for Keith. Jogging the few steps to Lucteal's side, Lance looked to his second in command "What's going on?" "That James. He implied that our team was unworthy. Keith stepped up to say he was part of our team. This happened" Great. James and Keith... they had a complicated history "Did you get to hit him?" "Not yet" Lucteal sounded bitter, but not as bitter as Lance was. James was a dick, and he couldn't understand why he kept going after Keith. Lucteal had his reasons... So did that mean James liked Keith? The thought was laughable. Keith could castrate James in the blink of an eye if he so chose. Sitting on the sidelines, Kinkade was filming everything as he provide a running commentary with Rizavi's assistance. Watching as the fight slowly grew towards becoming a brawl, Lance wasn't having it. Keith had a reputation to uphold, while Lance was a lowly bounty hunter "Keith, swap out with me" Catching James's fist, Keith stepped back with a scowl "I've got this" "If James has a problem with my team, it is up to me as their commander to step up. Provided he has the balls to throw down properly" Letting out a low whistle, Kinkade looked over his camera. Cupping her hands around her mouth, Rizavi called out "You going to let him talk to you like that, Griffin?!" Scoffing, James broke his stance to run a hand through his hair "Hey, if he wants a piece of this, I'm right here" Glaring, Keith strode towards Lance "What are you doing?" "He insulted my team" "I was handling it" "You looked as if you were about to murder him" "He had it coming" Patting Keith on the shoulder, the half-Galra still looked annoyed "You can beat him up as much as you want, after I do" Taking a few steps towards James, Lance rolled his neck. He hadn't thrown down for fun with Keith out of fear, but James was a dick and the Atlas had its own pod... squaring his shoulders, he was nearly at James when Keith called out to him "Lance, weapons?" Oh. Right. He forgot about that tiny detail... Kneeling down he took his knife from his right boot, and slipped out the blade hidden up his sleeve. Turning, he threw both to Keith with a wink "I forgot about that. Don't want to accidentally stab him" Keith's smirk said otherwise "Kick his arse" "You know it" * Keith was on edge as Lance stood in front of James. The MFE shit head had decided to mock his "life choices" over following some like Lance. Though not an active Paladin, the MFE pilots had all have basic hand to hand training, and they all had years of experience surviving after Earth had been invaded. Keith had made the mistake of saying "Let's how see how good you are at sparring", where as Lance had said they were going to "throw down". His fight with James was expected to be light, despite his anger at the man causing him to snap. Bouncing on the balls of his feet, Lance shook out his hands before balling them into fists. James laughing as he dropped into stance "From what I remember, you weren't that great at hand to hand" "I'm surprised you can remember anything with that ego of yours" Letting out a long "oooooh", Rizavi was seriously enjoying this. None of them realised how much of a transformation Lance had made while fighting for his life "Why'd you even come back? Weren't you enjoying your life as a simple farmer?" "Had to come back because dick's like you can't do their jobs" Lance was keeping his tone light, almost joking. Or it would have been if not for the look in his eyes "From what I hear, you called Keith in to clean up your mess" Lance shrugged, Keith enjoying this confident side to his not-boyfriend, even if it was all a show "Actually, he came to me. Seems your little crew wasn't going to cut it. Don't hold back" James was learning the hard way that there was more to Lance than met the eye. Lance openly laughing at James's attempts to bring him down. The angrier James got, the sloppier his moves were. Lance able to block and dodge, his movements a thousand times better than when he'd been a Paladin. Kicking out James's knee, the MFE pilot went down hard, the look in Lance's eye turning deadly as he pinned him in a head lock, and locked his leg with his. James had no idea he was ticks away from dying "What the hell is going on here?" Releasing James, Lance wiped his brow before holding his hands up to surrender to the fun police that was Shiro. Taking James by the arm, Rizavi began leading him away, Griffin jogging after the pair. The three of them smart enough to know when to run from a scolding Shiro "We're sparring" "Do I want to know how it started?" Lance opened his mouth, but Keith cut in "James was being dick. Went after me again, then insulted Lance. It was all in fun. You know if we wanted him dead, he would be" "It's funny, I'm looking at Lance and I'm hearing Keith's voice" Dropping his hands, Lance shook his head. His voice holding no confidence as he replied "Shiro, it was all fun and games. The only thing James got out of it was knocked down a few pegs" "I didn't think the pair of you were the type to bully someone to make yourselves feel better" Keith saw red, Shiro might have raised an eyebrow and intentionally baited him to see what his reply was, but when you love someone with PTSD and have started learning their triggers, the fear of them being hurt by a careless comment was always there. Lance wouldn't be able to hear the joke. And yeah, James was under Shiro's fucking command, but he knew the kid was a total jerk. Seething, he wanted to smack his stupid brother "That wasn't what happened at all. James was starting trouble, so I suggested we spar. We swapped out to Lance when Lance arrived from dropping Daehra off with Pidge's mum. This isn't the Garrison Shiro. We might have let things go, but even after he apologised, he still went out of his way to cause trouble. He has no right to bad mouth Lance or his team. They're your fucking guests" Coming up behind him, Lance put his hand on Keith's shoulder "Keith, calm down. Unlike James, I'm replaceable. He's a MFE pilot, and those ships cost a lot to build. I'm just a bounty hunter who can't even do that anymore" Shiro looked as if he was going to interject, but Keith really wasn't having it. Sure, Lance looked ready to kill James, but before Shiro interrupted, Keith was ready to step in "Goddamn it, Lance! You are not replaceable! And you didn't do anything wrong. James threw down as hard as he could. It's not your fault he's not that great" Shaking his head, Lance squeezed Keith's shoulder "Keith, it's not worth fighting over. Let's just train..." "Lance, I swear to quiznak..." Raising his hand, Keith shoved Lance's hand off his shoulder. Realising what he'd done, his hand hovered there "Lance" "Forget it" Pain filled Lance's blue eyes "Lance..." "Forget it Keith. I don't belong here. No matter what you say. Sorry Shiro, we'll be off your ship tomorrow. I promise to stay out of your way" Striding towards the door, Shiro called out to Lance as Lucteal moved to follow the Cuban "Lance. That's not what I meant..." Ignoring Shiro, Lance disappeared "... why can I never seem to say the right thing to him?" Shiro seemed genuinely troubled. Keith forcing down his anger at his brother "When you were tortured, did Lance ever treat you any differently?" Crossing his arms, Shiro went on the defensive "No. What does that have to do with anything?" "I've been watching everyone. Pidge this morning. Her parents. You now. You all look at him with pity. I know none of us knew what to do when Allura died. We all knew it was hard for him, but we were there. She's been gone for over a year now. It's time everyone treated Lance like he is Lance. He doesn't want our pity. He doesn't need our pity. He didn't treat you any differently after you were tortured, if anything he held more respect for you. For surviving everything you went through. Don't treat him any differently that you used to. He hasn't changed who he is inside" "I know that. I guess... I understand what you said when you first reached out to him. How he felt like a stranger. He's grown so much. When I saw him with James... I was sure he was going to hurt him" Even if Lance had, James would have deserved it. Though it would have torn Lance apart at a later date "He's still Lance. Like you have Allura's crystal in your arm to keep your body stable, Lance carries part of Allura quintessence to keep his body stable. Stop making excuses and talk to him like nothing happened" "I'll go find him" "Good. Make sure you apologise for being an arse. He was up all night with nightmares. His nerves are shot and he could really use someone who knows what he's been through to be there for him. If he won't talk to you, leave it and I'll talk to him" "You really understand him, don't you?" "Lance is easy to understand. All he wants it to forget the bad things in the past and move forward. Like we all do" * Sitting at the command table of the Telula, Lance wasn't sure what his next step was. He'd nearly lost control fighting James. He'd intentionally provoked him due to the fact his stupid brain started whispering that maybe there was some truth to him liking Keith... and he couldn't lose Keith to the likes of James. When he'd put him in the headlock, he'd made sure James could breathe, but couldn't move. Now all he felt was disgust at taking away someone ability to move like had been done to him. The circumstances might not have been the same, but none the less... He'd enjoyed taking James down a peg. It was as Shiro said, he was a bully. "Leandro?" Following him from the training room, Lucteal had hovered by his side quietly. He didn't need to be an empath to know that Lucteal wasn't happy over how things had played out. He hadn't got to hit James, and now that Shiro had scolded, Lucteal wanted to punch him too "What's up?" "That Shiro is standing in the hangar" Great. He felt sick to his stomach over what had happened. Being scolded by "Space Dad" was nearly as bad as being threatened with his mami pink slipper "Who does he think he is..." "Lucteal it's ok. Shiro's trying to protect his team. Like how I would protect any of you. I'll go talk to him" "He insulted you" "It wouldn't be the first time. You should probably stay up here, I don't know what he wants to talk about" Lance had nothing to say. He'd made a fool of himself and was now off licking his wounds "At least take a blaster" "I promise you it'll be ok. Now, try not to hit him if he comes onboard" "I make no promises" Walking down the loading ramp of the Telula, Lance eyed Shiro in confusion. Holding both hands up, Shiro was wearing a sad expression "I come in peace" "I told you that I'd be off the Atlas tomorrow. Lucteal is with. Keith's with the others and Daehra is with Pidge's mum. Don't ask me where my family is, you invited them" "I deserve that. Look, I didn't mean to run you off. I also didn't mean to make you feel like you weren't welcome here" "Really? You accuse my team of being untrustworthy. You look at me like I'm an insect. What do you want from Shiro?" "I want to say I'm sorry" Hell hath no fury like an angry Lance "Well, you said that. I promise my team isn't going to cause a scene. I'm sorry about what happened with James, but I won't stand for my team being insulted" "Lance, you know it's regulations that new visitors be escorted" "They're not just visitors. They're my family" "And what about mine. I have the lives of every single person on this ship to consider" "Don't you think I know that?! If it hadn't been for Keith, I probably wouldn't have even come for the party. It's not like my presence would have been missed!" "Of course we missed you..." "That's bullshit Shiro. Every time I reached out to any of you, I was ignored. I built my own life out here" "Keith told me what happened..." Lance let out a bitter laugh, he knew he was being spiteful, but all his anger at being rejected and pushed away from the team came flooding back "I bet you enjoyed that. Stupid Lance taken and tortured. Yeah. I bet you really enjoyed that" "No one deserves that. I know, remember. I know what it was like and what it was like to die... and what's it like to lose the one you love. Please Lance, I understand" "This isn't about Allura" "You cover your marks now..." "Don't..." "We thought you were happy on Earth" "Happy?! My whole family imploded when I came home! No one knew how to talk to me. No one knew how to treat me. Between the nightmares and the PTSD everything fell to pieces. No matter how many stupid juniper bushes I planted, she never came back. So no. You don't understand Shiro. Allura never loved me like I loved her, and every time you all look at me, all you show is pity. I'm done with that" Why was he tearing up? He was mad with Shiro. He didn't want to be crying in front of him "Lance..." "Don't! None of you ever wanted me around. I finally found people who want me for me. And we do good work. I'm proud of.. I was proud of the work we do... We help people. Not just those we want alliances with. We don't turn people away because they're "different". Daehra and Lucteal saved my life more than once. I won't go back to being made to feel like nothing" Shiro crying was a dick move. How was supposed to stay mad at crying Shiro? "Lance... I'm sorry we failed you" "You didn't fail me. You weren't supposed to know" "Why didn't you call? When it happened?" Call. He'd called and messaged "I tried reaching out. None of you answered my messages. We still had those stupid team calls. No one noticed if I didn't talk. I only took them because of Veronica" "And after? After you Keith went to that outpost? Why didn't you call then?" Hissing like an alley cat, Lance took a step back. Crossing his arms, Shiro could keep crying silently "Is that what this is about? Because I don't want Daibazaal or the Atlas involved? You don't actually care, do you" "Lance... That's not what I meant. I meant, why didn't you call us for back up? We would have come out to help you" "I don't need your help" "It's too late for that it's an intergalactic issue. People are dying" "I know they are, but you don't understand" "What's there to understand? I saw the pictures. All we want to do is help" Rolling his eyes, Lance was disgusted. The conversation was hurting his head, he could feel the tendrils of a headache coming on "Oh, you saw the pictures. Great. Now you know everything. The Atlas can't help" "What's that supposed to mean?" Why couldn't the great and famous Shiro understand? Why wasn't he looking at the bigger picture? When was Shiro going to finally treat him as a man, and not a snot nose punk "It means where I work, people hate Voltron. They have no time for people from Earth. They were all suffering and we helped none of them. People won't take aid from Lance of Voltron, but they will if they can't see my face. They'd rather starve or bleed out. We're not Galactic Heroes. I was tortured over the Red Lion. They wanted it for themselves to secure their power, because that whole fucking sector receives fuck all aid. The cops out there are as corrupt as hell. The people we fucking arrested, they're the people chopped to pieces. So tell me how the precious Atlas is going to fix all of that?! You can't bring back the dead. You can't sew them back together. How sending Galra ships out to people still scared shitless of the Galra, is going to make things better? You can't, can you Shiro. My friends were butchered because they know me. I have a 1.5 billion GAC bounty on my head, because I wanted to do the right thing. You guys can't help. I should never have listened to Keith..."

EXO (OT9) - Mafia!AU Reaction to Confessing Their Feelings While They Thought You Were Asleep
As Requested. :)
Minseok:
Tumblr media
You always thought he was handsome. But when you found out that you were promised to him from an agreement between families, you were a little bitter. You thought that your father would care enough to let you marry someone whom you love. Here you were, lying in bed, several months after you had officially become Mrs. Kim Minseok. You heard Minseok come into the room, though he was trying to be quiet as to not wake you. With your eyes still closed, you pretended to be asleep, assuming he was tired and not in the mood to talk. You were facing the other direction, so when he got into bed, your back was towards him. You felt that he wasn’t lying down, but sitting, looming over you. Then you felt him kiss the top of your head. “I’m sorry that you got stuck with me. But if it counts, I have ended up falling for you. God, I don’t know how I would be able to tell you when you can actually hear me.” You waited for a moment, letting the words sink in. Minseok loved you. And you, even being forced into this marriage, had grown to care for him too. So, you turned over to meet his shocked expression. You sat up and wrapped your arms around him, “I fell for you too.” His arms came around you, strong and steady. That was the first night you slept in each other’s arms.
Junmyeon:
Tumblr media
You were engaged to Junmyeon since birth. You knew that he would be your husband even if you had feelings for someone else. So, you lived a sheltered and lonely life till you got married. He had a tendency to come home very late. You were usually sound asleep when he came to bed, so you never knew if he said anything before. Tonight, you were still awake. You weren’t able to fall asleep for some reason. When he climbed into bed, you felt him softly caress your face. “I never would have imagined being married to an angel like you. I promise that I will protect you and cherish you, even if you don’t want to do the same for me.” You lifted your hand to meet his before opening your eyes. “Who said I don’t?” He smiled widely and moved closer to you. “I love you Y/N.” You smiled and rested your head on his chest, “I love you too.”
Yixing:
Tumblr media
The first time you saw him was the day you found out he would be your husband. You were cordial, but very upset. It was around one in the morning when you heard him come home. You heard the bedroom door open and him getting undressed and ready to sleep. You kept your eyes closed, not expecting anything special to happen. But when he got into bed, he kissed your forehead softly. “Sleep well my love. I am sorry that you always seem to go to bed alone. I know you deserve better, but I am glad that you were the one I married.” You kept your eyes closed as you responded, “I am glad that I married you too Yixing.” You felt him move a bit before opening your eyes. “Why did you pretend to be asleep?” “Why won’t you tell me this stuff when I am awake?” You both smiled as he pulled you close. He fell asleep easily, happy to feel comfortable with you.
Baekhyun:
Tumblr media
You told your parents that you didn’t want to marry into another mafia family. But when they told you about Baekhyun, you couldn’t say no. They controlled your life, even if you wanted it otherwise. It had been several months since you had become legally married. You told him that you weren’t feeling well and had retired to bed early. Honesty, it is because you had found yourself worrying about him and had gotten a headache. He was working on a dangerous case, but you weren’t going to tell him. It isn’t as if he cared. Hours later, he walked in to check on you. You felt a hand on your forehead but didn’t flinch. “I hope this isn’t from me… I love you Y/N. I don’t want to cause you any harm, physically or mentally.” After he moved his hand to caress your cheek, you brought your hand to his and opened your eyes. “I love you too, that is why I am so worried. I am worried that you won’t be careful.” You almost teared up as you sat up to hold him. “Don’t worry, I will be. For you.” He hugged you tightly as you tried to calm down.
Jongdae:
Tumblr media
His devilish smile was the first thing you saw the day you met him. The same day your father signed you over to him and his family. Now it made your heart flutter whenever you saw it, but you planned on never letting him know. After all, neither of you had planned to marry each other. Family pressure makes you do crazy things. You had stayed up dealing with money arrangements between the companies that you had now become a partner in. Dae walked in to find you tucked under the covers. Your hair, which you had neglected to put up, was covering half of your face. He leaned over to clear it off. “I hope you know how much you have come to mean to me. Even if you don’t ever feel the same, I will still love you.” Him entering the house had woken you from your light sleep. A small smile crept over your face as you looked up at him. His eyes widened as you placed your hands on either side of his face. “I do feel the same.” That grin spread over his face right before he leaned down to kiss you.
Chanyeol:
Tumblr media
After constantly fighting with your parents, you ended up as Chanyeol’s bride anyways. Although intimidating at first glance, you soon realized that he was not what he seemed. He was always gentle and kind with you, even if you were cold towards him. But he understood your defenses, getting stuck with a man you hardly knew for the rest of your life. You were waiting up for him on the couch while you drifted off. He had been on a business trip for the past week, and you realized just how happy you were when he was home. You had woken up from the sound of the door opening. Still tired, you kept your eyes closed. You figured he would be tired as well. As soon as he saw you laying there, he grabbed a blanket and draped it over you. “My Y/N, why are you out here?” Mumbling to himself, he smiled fondly at you. “This only makes me love you more.” Unable to keep quiet any longer, you opened your eyes. He jumped back a bit but regained his composure. “You love me too?” You sat up to be eye level with his sitting form. When he processed the last word, he pulled you close, your lips meeting. After spending some time catching up and cuddling on the couch he picked you up bridal style. “Let’s go to bed.”
Kyungsoo:
Tumblr media
You had to admit that he was handsome, but when you first met him, you were terrified. His silent demeanor and somewhat menacing stare due to poor eyesight made him seem unkind. After spending day and night with him for a few months, you realized that was not true. But you still haven’t had intimate moments with him. He didn’t force you into anything just because you were married. Tonight, you were lonely, so you tried to watch a movie to fill up your time. You had drifted off during the middle of it, and he walked in during the final scene. A sad ending where one of the couple ended up passing away tragically. He realized the true potential of that happening with him as he turned off the television. Bending over to place a soft kiss on your temple, he spoke quietly. “I hope to never put you through that. I love you too much” When he pulled away to find you looking at him with a smile, he was shocked but also relieved. “You could have told me that earlier.” You giggled as you repeated the three words to him. He sat down to hold you, not worrying about changing out of his business attire.
Jongin:
Tumblr media
You had grown up around his family, but you had never found yourself in the position of falling for him. That is until your parents made an agreement joining your families together by their eldest children. You had seen him be cold and cruel when dealing with business. But you had also seen him be sweet and caring with your siblings and the animals that resided in his family home. After living with him, you understood the driving force between his actions. He only wanted what is best for those that he loved. He had recently purchased you a puppy to keep you company when he was away. Your eyelids became heavier as she nuzzled up onto your chest, ready to sleep herself. Too tired to move from the couch, you stayed. Jongin came in a couple hours later, surprised to find you there. Noticing your closed eyes, he tried to take his bags through the house quietly. Your pup popped her head up when she saw him. Setting his bags down, he moved to pick her up and keep her from waking you. You could hear the ruckus, but were too tired to open your eyes. “She is easy to love right? Now you need to keep her company on days like this. I hate to leave her.” She gave a soft whine as he placed her on the ground. You sat up slowly rubbing your eyes. “This isn’t a dream?” You laughed as you shot up to hug him. “I love you too. And I appreciate her, she is adorable.” He held you tightly, “You are adorable too. I always thought so.”
Sehun:
Tumblr media
This life wasn’t easy. Neither was being married to a stranger. Let alone one you heard stories of. How he had killed people in the dead of the night to get things that were owed to him. Of course, you understood, but you never heard of your father doing that. Soon after being married, you knew that he was misinterpreted. He was just a young man who cared about protecting the things that are important. If anyone was harmed, it was because they got in the way or threatened those beliefs. You were wrapped up in the sheets of your king-sized bed in and out of sleep. He went out to make a deal in the middle of the night, leaving you worried. You didn’t think he knew, or found you as one of those important things in his life. But when he returned to find you asleep, he carefully slid under the covers and covered your hand with his own. “I wouldn’t let them take you away from me. Don’t worry, you are something I value over all.” Your eyes fluttered open after hearing his words. You turned to caress his cheek and he leaned into your palm. Moments later he was pressing his lips against your own.
