툰컴이랑 대화해야 돼

툰컴퍼니가 지난 8월부터 두 달간 진행한 ‘웹소설 공모전’ 수상작을 발표하고 시상식을 가졌다. 이번 웹소설을 대상으로 한 작품 공모를 통해 총 14편의 작품이 접수됐으며, 1차 서류 심사와 2차 인터뷰 심사를 거쳐 최종 6편을 선정했다. 대상(한국문화산업교류재단 이사장상) 1편, 최우수상(국무총리표창공영홈쇼핑 사장상, 심사위원 특별상은 우수상을 각각 2편씩 뽑았다. 대상은 소설 ‘상처’를 발표한 박현숙 작가가 차지했고, 부문별로 인기상에 ‘이태원클라쓰'(이민경, 임선화), 금상과 은상으로 각 3편이 당선됐다. 대상을 수상한 상금은 1000만원이며, 오는 10월 개최하는 ‘제3회 국제 웹툰 페스티벌’의 본선 진출 자격이 주어진다. 김중석 한국콘텐츠진흥원장(CJ E&M 대표)은 “젊은 작가들이 다양한 분야에서…

This scene was epic! I felt like I was watching them play mortal kombat lmao … Some things should be said, but damn, Yi Seo destroyed the poor girl. I mean, she’s not a bad person she’s just a bit of a narcissist. Or a lot. But the weird thing though is that every time she argues with Yi Seo it’s like this, like she knows she can’t win and doesn’t even try to say anything, just stares at nothing, intimidated by the little girl… It’s kinda pathetic though, her character seemed to be a lot better. But anyways, Yi Seo killed it being the supportive queen as always. This shows how much she cares about Saeroyi, though If I was her I would not make those ‘I love you’ jokes that make him so uncomfortable every time.

[Translation] 나는 돌덩이 from Itaewon Class with key vocab

For those of you who have read or seen Itaewon Class, you will probably know how significant this poem is. The poem was written by the webtoon artist 광진 and has a beautiful meaning.... I wanted to learn a bit more about it and also familiarise myself with the new vocabulary and grammar and share it with all of you [vocab and grammar under the cut to stop the post being so long!]

나는 돌덩이 (I am a rock)

I am a rock

Try and scorch me

I am a rock that does not move.

Try and hit me violently

I am a solid rock.

Try to shut me up in the deep darkness

I am a lone shining rock.

Completely break me, turn me to ash and decompose me

I reject even providence (law of nature / law of God).

I who survived

I am a diamond.

Grammar

Verb stem + 아/어 보다 - try to do

Verb stem + 아/어라 - [plain Korean sentence ending for imperative sentences: used for commands - very blunt and direct, used in writing or when speaking to someone younger]

Verb stem + 지 않다 - not [negative sentence ending]

Verb stem + 아/어 버리다 - to do something completely, to the very end

Noun + 마저 - even

Verb stem + (으)리 - [expresses the strong will of the speaker - very poetic]
