Heeseung wasn’t the type of boyfriend to buy you expensive bouquets or take you to fancy restaurants.

No. Heeseung was the type of boyfriend to pick flowers on the sidewalk for you and order food past midnight. He laid blankets on the hardwood floor of your living room and made picnics on it. The lyrics of a love song and your laughter being the only furor in the middle of the sleeping city. And then, when the bowls were empty and the wine sank in, he was the type of boyfriend to ask you to dance with him.

Barefoot and clumsy, Heeseung loved to dance with you.

The night had fallen into those strange hours when no one could tell if it was really late or really early. The city was silent beyond the opened windows of your living room, allowing Heeseung’s playlist to resonate as if it were the only sound in the entire world.

Along with his laughter, of course.

You looked at him, mind halted in the middle of a sentence you would never finish. You weren’t sure if you had intended to be funny, you knew you were talking, trailing a long line of thoughts but then he laughed, tilting his head back and shutting his eyes in a habit you already knew.

Heeseung’s body had come undone in happiness far too many times throughout the course of your relationship for you to not have it engraved in your heart. But shafts of golden luminescence reached for him tonight, embellishing his skin with a soft glow, and when he straightened himself back to look at you, it made his eyes shine, glinting in errant spheres of gold.

Heeseung was so beautiful beneath all of this — all made in reflections of the city lights and the dim flames of the candles you had lit at some moment at the beginning of the night.

You couldn’t remember making the decision to reach for him, but you must have done it because he took your hand in mid-motion, thumb caressing the inside of your wrist before he brought it up to his lips and kissed it.

“Dance with me,” he said. The question had no question mark, no doubt or uneasiness. Heeseung knew you would never refuse him, but he still waited for you to nod at him before he used your connected hands to pull you up.

You didn’t recognize the song coming from his phone, a fast beat that had him spinning you through the hardwood floor of your living room. His movement caught you so unprepared, it made you laugh loudly, and Heeseung took it as the cue to swirl you again and again, the shirt you had stolen from him moving dangerously around your thighs until he decided to bring you back to him and pull you against his chest.

“Aren’t we being too loud?” you asked.

“If your neighbors file a complaint again, maybe you will take a hint this time and move into mine.”

“You want me there so badly, don’t you?”

“You have no idea love,” he whispered, spreading his hands at the small of your back, and bringing you closer to him. His palms were warm through the thin material of your — his shirt and your heart knocked inside of your chest, so loud you were sure he could feel it echoing through the space between you.

Heeseung’s touches were no novelty to you. He had explored your body far more than anyone would or could — God, he had touched you just a few hours previously, but still there was something about being beneath his attention that would always make you a bit overwhelmed.

The song that came on next was quieter, not lazier, or languid but he leaned in as if you were to slow dance, his cheek resting against the side of your head and allowing you to breathe him in. Heeseung smelled like the woody scent of his perfume, dry imbues, and blackberry leaves — he smelled like the wine he had brought for your picnic and home.

If your heart wasn’t aching already, it did then and there.

“I like this song,” he said. At first, you thought it had been a statement to nobody, but he placed his lips against your ear, and the lyrics threaded through your hair as if the only thing he ever wanted was for you to know it.

“I see my future when I look into your eyes.”

It was nothing extravagant. His voice came a bit low and timid, but it only made your heart ache a little bit more.

“It took your love to make my heart come alive,” Heeseung sang. “Cause’ I lived my life believing all love is blind.”

“But everything about you is telling me this time it’s forever, this time I know, and there’s no doubt in my mind.”

Your hands left the safety of his shoulders to slip up, fingers curling on the hair at his nape, bringing him impossibly closer. Heeseung gasped at your actions, the soft rustle of his breath hitching against your ear as he failed to sing the next lyrics, but he didn’t need to — you already knew them.

You always knew them.

Forever, until my life is through. I’ll be loving you forever.

The song kept going, but Heeseung stopped, drawing back just enough to look at you, his eyes lingering and simply unable to conceal the pure and unfiltered adoration he had for you.

In the middle of the night, you heard the front door of your apartment swing open, obtruding the sounds of leaves crunching on your porch and rain cascading, plinking against the shingles, before closing again gently.

Jake was late, but hearing him come back at all was a surprise. You firmly thought he would not come home that night. Not after the screaming match that had occurred before he left.

Fighting with Jake was a very uncommon occurrence, you two usually talked about your feelings and worries very openly, an unspoken peace and truce you had worked very hard to achieve.

“Beautiful?”

Tears poured from your eyes at the sound of his honeyed smooth tone, following the path that the previous dried ones had left behind.

Sobs racked your chest as his footsteps hurriedly made their way to your shared room, a place usually bursting with fondness never felt so empty and dim.

The bed dipped under the weight of Jake’s knees, his usual earthy scent mixed with the smell of the weather outside engulfing you as he brought your trembling body close to his, caging you in his firm arms.

“Breathe in, breathe out, slowly.” The touch of his warm calloused hand on your hair calmed you down, his breathing evening out in an attempt to get you to mimic it as he whispered sweet nothings against your skin, pillowy lips ghosting on your forehead.

Jake’s heart constricted in his ribcage at the thought of being the cause of your pain, thinking back at the poisonous venom he spewed to you that same morning, overtaken by his emotions.

He only pulled back once your sobs turned into sniffles, still holding you close but far enough to take your face in his hands, losing himself in the sight of your bloodshot eyes.

The moonlight filtered into the room through the curtains, turning your face into a canvas of blues and greys, shadows and light. Masterpiece cradled in his palms.

He always wanted to protect you, keep you away from harm, yet you had never looked so frail, shivering at his touch like you might shatter any second. Because of him.

The sensation of your lips tracing the skin of his palm brought his focus to the moment once more, eyes he had not even noticed had wandered somewhere else turned to yours, finding traces of fondness, yet also doubt, in them.

“I thought you’d crash at Jay’s tonight.” Your voice was cracking, raw from emotion.

He kept his gaze on yours, eyes flickering, looking for any clue of meanings between the lines, “Did you want me to?” his voice was hoarse and vulnerable, the anxiety pooling in his stomach audible in his tone. You shook your head, eliciting a sigh of relief from your lover.

“Thought you might not want to see me for a bit,” you nervously bit your lip, “after what I said.”

“You’re my home. I’ll always come back to you no matter what,” he brought you in for a soft kiss, still testing the waters, not wanting to push you too far. “We both said things we regret. I’m sorry beautiful, I didn’t mean any of it.” He closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against yours.

“I know baby,” you whispered softly, “I never meant to be a liability. I hate watching you work yourself to your bones. I just worry for you.”

He drew back immediately, searching for your eyes and feeling bile rising in his throat when he found tears streaming down your face once more. “You’ll never be a liability, angel” he placed soft kisses on the rivulets of tears as if he could absorb them and take away even a little bit of your pain.

“Still, I overstepped. I never want to be too much to bear again” you grabbed Jake's shirt as he held you close to his chest, his chin on top of your head.

“You are never gonna be too much baby. I was frustrated and took it out on you. It'll never let it happen again,” he lowered his head to kiss the crown of your hair “I promise”.

He rocked you like this, lips never parting from you and arms around your body, until he felt your heartbeat even out, breathing still a little shaky from all the crying. He lowered both of you on the soft mattress, covering your figure with a thin scattered blanket he found next to your nightstand when you refused to let him look for something heavier, scared he might walk a little too far, slip through your fingers and never come back.

He hoped that the thin blanket and his love were enough to keep you warm in the cold of the night.

The last thing you heard before drifting off was his voice, warm breath fanning on your shoulder.

“Sweet dreams angel, we’re going to be fine.”

your fingers delicately pose on your boyfriend’s cheek, slightly rubbing your thumb against his soft skin, he fights the urge to open his eyes— he doesn’t like when you say his name in a annoyed tone— and riki thinks falling in love is embarrassing.

he feels tickles when your pass the eyeliner’s pen on his eyelid, he knows that feeling too well, he feels the same in his stomach when you kiss him. he opens one of his eyes, just a tad so you don’t notice; your concentrated expression is beyond cute and despite the fact that it has only been three minutes since you last told him to close his eyes, he missed admiring your features.

“riki,” you sigh, shooting him a annoyed look then putting the eyeliner down. you tilt your head to the side, he mirrors your move while frowning a bit and he watches a smile forming on youthful lips alongside the fondness in your gaze. “you are lucky i finished this eye, i could’ve messed up”

in a whisper, as you put the pen in your makeup’s case, riki’s voice is soft and filled with love, just like the way he talks to you most of the time, “but, what’s the point of being here if i can’t admire you?”

a clear shade of red appears on your cheeks —and the boy sitting in front of you cringes at his words, his mouth tends to talk on it’s own, especially when you are around; but he loves to see your reactions.

you take the mirror, putting it in-front of your face to hide your embarrassment, riki sees his reflection on the mirror; you did a really great job with the makeup, “when you look at me, it makes me nervous”

it’s as if a flower blossoms inside of his chest, taking over his body, filling all his sense with the thought of you only. his hands find your mirror, putting it on the side, the sight of your pretty face— your flush and your eyes looking at him— his heartbeat goes up. whereupon his lips find yours, he knows, falling in love is embarrassing.

—(엔하이픈) — the boys had surprised valerie just to prove how much they cared, then suddenly, it hit song valerie like a baseball after she realized how much the boys have done for her and would do for her.

(ok most of this is just enhypen and valerie finally getting along with each other.)

(𓈒⟡₊⋆∘) valerie was anticipating that the seven boys would suddenly burst open their door and she would be shaken in her boots, not a single clue what to say if they just had suddenly came to the dorms.

and the perfect timing, hani proceeded to go to the convenience store leaving valerie all by herself. valerie curled up into a ball while staring at the door of the shared dorm, looking away for a tad bit until she would glance back sharply if she heard the slightest footstep.

valerie would wonder to herself, “what would hani do?” this was val’s mindset, she looked up to the older girl so whenever she didn’t know what to do, she would think what her practical sister would do.

valerie looked at the door once again, feeling disappointed, she stood up from the cold hard floor and gave up. “I guess they won’t be coming back any soon.” val landed on her feet and gained her balance again, she shook off the dust from her oversized hoodie and walked back to her room.

until… she had heard keys rattling and the door suddenly opening.

she gasped in a mix of excitement and uneasiness, running to the door and opening it. she stuck her head out of the door and saw not a single soul, was she that desperate to see another person she started hearing things?

valerie thought to herself, this time, she was greeted with disappointment actually. “you blew it val… they aren’t coming back right now…” she said to herself, until she heard footsteps behind her back.

she swiftly turned around…

and her eyes met with seven boys who had a cake, being held by heeseung reading out “we are glad your our member, val.”

“valerie!” heeseung smiled, showing her the cake. “thank you for being a good member to us for the past.. what… one week? I know things have been a little fast and we couldn’t get the opportunity to know each other more… but you’re someone who we know we can trust immediately ! thank you; thank you for keeping up with our idiotic and chaotic mess(es).” heeseung grinned like a little child, proud of what he said.

“valerieeeee !! we really think your the coolest member and we feel bad we couldn’t really talk to you and get to know you more despite the fact we were close with hani during I-land… your a great person and we hope you don’t really hate us because of how nonchalant you are sometimes.” jake beamed, but jungwon had elbowed him for the last sentence.

“thank you for being apart of our team, valerie.” jungwon gently handed the cake to the stunned girl that was cheesing so hard at the fact she realized how much they cared. “thank you guys. I didn’t realize you guys cared that much to get me a cake just because you noticed I was anti-social.”

“of course val, you're special to us— jay why the actual fuck are you crying?” sunghoon grinned ear to ear until his eyes landed on the sentimental jay who felt emotional after he heard everything heeseung and jake said.

“come on bro! men have emotions too…” jay wiped the tears flowing down his cheeks while everyone started laughing at his jokes, “yah! look at val noona! she’s gonna start crying! their faces are identical right now!” ni-ki pointed out. “riki! I’m gonna kill your japanese ass!” valerie chuckled.

heeseung was laughing a bit too much and next thing you know, he almost dropped the cake.

“HEESEUNG HYUNG! COME ON YOU SCARED THE HELL OUT OF US!”

“shut up! you try laughing while holding a cake..” heeseung pouted, defending himself. “hyung, by the sound your laughing, it doesn’t even sound like laughing anymore, your cackling.” ni-ki said, everyone realizing how heeseungs laugh sounded like a high pitched horse.

“YAH! RIKI-YAH!”

“jungwon’s been awfully quiet.” sunoo noticed while everyone turned to the leader, jungwon was zoning out until he realized all eyes were on him. “oh? what?” jungwon’s hand landed on his nape, confused on what was going on. “the guys on a different planet.” jake pointed at his boba eyes that looked like it had not a single thought behind those eyes.

“It’s kinda cute!” valerie pouted, showing them how cute his big eyes were and how they sparkled. “oh look at me val! I have them too!” jake widened his eyes and blinked x1000 times. “there’s a difference jake.”

“oh well thanks.”

“wait wheres hani?” jay asked in confusion, looking around the spacious room for the co-member. “she’s at the convenience store, she left awhile earlier.” valerie informed jay, and the guy made a “o” shaped mouth in realization. “definitely not. she’s dating someone.” sunoo said, gossiping.

“WHAT?”

the seven of them said in unison, obviously not informed. “isn’t it obvious?”

“she’s dating that anton guy from riize,” (let’s pretend riize was a group in 2020. 🫶) “wait… you guys didn’t notice? didn’t you see her always hang out in sm entertainment?” sunoo put a hand on his mouth, shocked that no one noticed.

“okay, this calls for gossip time!” val announced and everyone agreed.

by the time hani arrived, the seven of them confronted hani while sunoo watched from afar. alas, gaining a scolding from his noona since he had snitched to everyone in the group.

everyone in the group decided to sleep at val’s and hani’s room because it was the most spacious and biggest out of all 9 of them.

all of them were snuggled together in a shared couch, somehow, they agreed to watch a horror movie. after valerie prepped the popcorn, she was originally seated beside jake. but there was a vacant spot near sunoo so sunoo signaled her to go next to him.

val made her way to sunoo until she felt a gentle hand softly hold her hand, it was jake. “don’t try to go and leave me, val. you sat beside me first.” jake looked at her with pleading eyes that sparkled brightly. “please, you were mine first.”

valerie knew he meant that she was his first to sit beside next to, but the way he had worded it made valerie get a soft tingly feeling in her stomach.

“oh.. uhm okay.” valerie was skeptical, but jake had that golden retriever smile that made her feel at ease.

as soon as she sat down, jake laid his head on her shoulder. getting comfortable, trying to focus on the horror movie and not on valerie.

every time a scary part came on the scream, or when it wasn’t even scary, jake used it as an excuse to hold valeries hand. “your hands are soft.” jake whispered in her ear.

jake. you will be the death of song valerie.

Who wouldn't know of the one and only Sim Jaeyun? He is what most people would call a heartthrob, his angelic face paired with his beautiful voice and sweet personality would make anyone fold.

Jake is very popular in school, people would automatically look at him wherever he goes. Y/n was one of those people.

Y/n has been crushing on Jake for the past 2 years. Sure she is in the same grade as him, but she doubts Jake even knows her name. Besides shes too shy to talk to him whitout it being akward

Y/n had already made a love letter for him but she didn't want to give it to him, afraid that he would reject her which was probably going to be the case. He had so much pretty fans that send him love letters on a daily basis

It was after class, me and Winter was heading to the cafeteria to eat some food since we both didn't eat breakfast today.

"Hey isn't that Jake's group? The one being surrounded by girls right now" winter pointed to a small crowd of girls who seemingly was surrounding a group of boys

Y/n nodded and was seemingly suprised, sure she knew that him and his group of friends were popular but she didn't expect them to be THAT popular.

"Perhaps this is another sign that he will never like me" she said with her head resting on the table

"Noo don't say that, mabye he just doesn't like to show who he likes?" Said winter with a soft voice

"Really? I don't even know his ideal type, how am i supposed to make him even look at me?" Asked y/n

"Wait, your brother is in his friendgroup right? Can you pls ask him who Jake's ideal type is?" Asked y/n with a pleading voice

Winter shook her head "NO, besides what if my brother thinks that I like Jake instead? It would be too akward and traumatizing for me"

Y/n sighed "If you ask him I'll treat u mint choco for the next month". "REALLY?" asked Winter with an enthusiastic voice.

"Mhm, but you have to ask him and promise not to tell ur brother that i like Jake" said y/n. "Deal" winter said while holding up a pinky finger

The next day, y/n hurried to school to get information from Winter. "SO DID U GET ANY INFORMATION?" asked y/n enthusiasticly

"Duh, of course i did" said Winter. "THEN WHAT IS IT" asked y/n curiously

"My brother asked Jake whats his favorite color in a girl, he answered anything is good, he also asked jake whats his type and he said girls who are nice and also smart girls" answered Winter in a detailed way

"He likes smart girls? What's his next class? Mabye i can lend him my notes to make him think im smart" asked y/n

"If im not wrong him and my brother share the same class, if im not mistaken his next class is chemistry"

"Really? That's perfect then, i had chemistry before and i took some notes"

"Then you should give him ur notes before his next class starts" said winter after taking a bite of her lunch

"THANKSIES ur the best Winter i owe u a lot" said y/n. "Of course you do" said winter while rolling her eyes playfully.

Fortunately, y/n found Jake beside his locker whitout anyone else

"Heyy Jake, did you study for the chemistry test yet? If not i can lend u some of my notes" said y/n nervously while making a small smile

"Y/n? It's really rare seeing u talk to me, sure I'd love ur notes" said Jake while flashing his infamous smile who took u so much to not fold. With that you lent him Jakes notes

Chemistry class ended and y/ns notes was a big help for him. But he forgot to return y/ns notes after class and now he was stuck with her notebook

At home, Jake started studying, although he couldn't focus studying because of the way y/n smiled at him earlier, if only she knew how much he liked her

Jake has had a crush on y/n for the past 4 years, but Jake never started a conversation with her because she seems akward everytime he talks to her, and because of that he concluded that she simply didn't like to talk to him

It was kind of a bummer since everytime she talked to anybody else, y/n always has an energetic vibe and tone to it, very different than when she talked to him.

When he was stuck in a chemistry question, he remembered that there was a formula in y/ns note that would solve it

When he dug through his bag, he found y/ns pink notebook. When he was flipping through the pages a paper fell out. When he bent over to grab the notes, he froze.

In the note was a familiar name "To: Sim Jaeyun". He knew in a way that this was an invasion of privacy, although in his defense there was his name

"Hey, im Y/n from class 12B, you probably don't know me but I've had a crush on u for 2 years but I can't confess to you in person since it would be really akward. I love your smile and the way you treat others so kindly, its like your heaven sent. I know you probably don't feel the same way to me even though i hope you do but i wanted to get this feeling off my chest."

Jake couldn't believe his eyes, his crush of 4 years liked him back all along? He felt like he was on cloud 9, smiling so much all night

The next day, Jake didn't even bother eating breakfast. He wanted to arrive to school as fast as possible to confront y/n about the letter and possibly confess to her too. There he saw y/n walking through the halls

"Hey y/n" Jake approached you while lightly tapping your shoulder. "Jake? Whats up?" Y/n said.

"Sorry i forgot to return your notebook yesterday, here it is" Jake said while lending your pink notebook to you

"I know this is probably an invasion of privacy but i saw your love letter to me"

"What do you mean?" Y/n asked confused. Whitout saying anything Jake pulled a familiar letter out of his pocket

You suddenly feel your face heat up. You remember writing that letter a year ago and you were planning to give him the letter on valentine's day. You didn't ended up doing that because you were to scared that he would reject you

So instead, you placed the letter in-between the pages of your notebook and you forgot to take it before you lent him your notebook

"About that, im sorry it's totally okay if you don't feel the sam-" before y/n could finish her sentence, she felt his lips pressing against her lips. He kissed you

When he finally pulled back, y/n was still in shock. "I like you too, y/n. For 4 years I've liked you" he said with a soft smile

Since that day, y/n and Jake became the schools favorite couple

he left a quick peck on your lips, which you returned. the kisses slowly became messy and needy. how could they not? you both kissed like this is your last time being able to taste each other's lips. you couldn't get enough of him, neither could he. you wished he could be all over you all day and night. his hands wandered around your body, and his lips traveled down to your neck.

"please," you whispered against his plump lips.

"please what, baby? you know you have to use your words with me," riki placed his hands on both sides of your neck, while he stared deep into your eyes.

"please don't stop kissing me," you replied, your cheeks lit up in a soft pink color.

of course, he didn't even plan on stopping. if he could, he would kiss you all over everywhere, all day. his lips found themselves on yours immediately.

these random and quick make out sessions were your favorites. he always made you feel so good with his kisses and touches.

a few long minutes later, the kisses finally stopped. he leaned back and cupped your face in his hands.

"now, how about we take those pictures?" he helped you off the counter.

"just wait, i'm going to put my shirt on."
